Once Upon A Time In Springfield (S21E10)

Four Finger Discount (Simpsons Podcast)

Krusty falls in love with Anne Hathaway, aka Princess Penelope, after she becomes his new co-host. Unfortunately, he realises that if he truly loves her, he can't marry her. Meanwhile, Homer, Carl and Lenny are scouted to work for a rival power plant.

This episode celebrated the show's 20th anniversary, which one of us thought they did rather well, the other, not so much.

We also discuss THAT Star Wars moment, our favourite flavour of doughtnut and more.

<v Speaker 1>Coming now see your little miss seam Steeler. I'm the
<v Speaker 1>star of the show. You're just the reason people tune in.
<v Speaker 2>Crusty, there's something I have to tell you.
<v Speaker 1>No, no, let me finish. I work like I drink
<v Speaker 1>alone with a monkey watching me.
<v Speaker 2>Crusty, I love you that way.
<v Speaker 1>If I pass out, he turns me on my side.
<v Speaker 1>So you what four.
<v Speaker 3>Finger discount dude.
<v Speaker 4>Welcome to what's short to be a very interesting episode
<v Speaker 4>of four Finger Discounts, where this week we hit the
<v Speaker 4>review episode Once Upon a Time in Springfield.
<v Speaker 2>I'm Dando and I am guy look off mellowd out.
<v Speaker 2>A little bit. Since our previous episode of four Finger
<v Speaker 2>Discount I realized I was quite vehement in my venom
<v Speaker 2>about Once upon a Time in Springfield. I still don't
<v Speaker 2>like maybe dislike it a little less than I did before,
<v Speaker 2>but I still don't think this is a very good
<v Speaker 2>episode of the Simpsons.
<v Speaker 4>I'm interested to hear your thoughts as to why, but
<v Speaker 4>we shall get into that in the moment.
<v Speaker 2>First of all, how are you doing? Yeah? All right?
<v Speaker 2>Too bad? Feeling good? At summertime here in Australia.
<v Speaker 4>Where the weather was fine up and touched the sky
<v Speaker 4>where the living is easy. Suppose have you got women
<v Speaker 4>on your mind always?
<v Speaker 2>But only one? Mean mother? No? All good at in
<v Speaker 2>this neck of the woods, how about you? Yeah? Really good?
<v Speaker 4>As I said last week on the podcast that we
<v Speaker 4>got hacked?
<v Speaker 2>Was it last week?
<v Speaker 4>Maybe it's depending on what's coming out, what the real
<v Speaker 4>es date the last episode that we did a review,
<v Speaker 4>we nearly got hacked. All the page you get hacked,
<v Speaker 4>but thankfully Facebook saved us. I was thankful for that.
<v Speaker 4>But yeah, Holly started school. Now can you believe I've
<v Speaker 4>got two school kids?
<v Speaker 2>Can you believe it? People?
<v Speaker 4>When they if you've been listening to this show from
<v Speaker 4>the start, started off as just me young whipper snipper,
<v Speaker 4>Dano just whip a snapper whi snipper, that's the side gig. Yes, yes,
<v Speaker 4>we'p a snap of Dando doing the show with Mitch.
<v Speaker 4>No kids, you know, just newly married, full of life,
<v Speaker 4>still full of life in a new way. But you know,
<v Speaker 4>I've now got two kids. One's now in grade two
<v Speaker 4>and one has just started what we call prep, so
<v Speaker 4>that the first year of school here in Australia. And
<v Speaker 4>it's a weird feeling because Holly's always been like the baby, right,
<v Speaker 4>and it comes to a point where you sort of
<v Speaker 4>realize you gotta stop treating her as the baby because
<v Speaker 4>she's not a baby anymore. Because she's always the youngest,
<v Speaker 4>you just naturally do that. I was like, you can't
<v Speaker 4>be going to school. You're like your baby, Holly, because you,
<v Speaker 4>holy baby, you're the baby. And then the second day
<v Speaker 4>of dropping her off. First day, Nichola was shut the
<v Speaker 4>day off of course to be there for the first day.
<v Speaker 4>Second day, dropped her off. Holly pretty much. We arrived
<v Speaker 4>and she just put her bag down. She run up
<v Speaker 4>to the playground. I was like, that's cool. I was
<v Speaker 4>talking to one of the parents and then the bell
<v Speaker 4>went and Holly just ran out to a bag and
<v Speaker 4>started walking in. I was like, Holly, He's like goodbye,
<v Speaker 4>and she goes bye. I was like, I have a hug.
<v Speaker 4>She's like okay. I'm thinking, don't fucking okay me just
<v Speaker 4>second days, your holy baby, what are you doing. I
<v Speaker 4>was like, my daughter doesn't need what she needs me.
<v Speaker 4>But you know, she's like, she's independent, she's a kid now.
<v Speaker 4>It's all I have to say to this Dan. There
<v Speaker 4>was the Cats in the Cradle and the Silver spear Man.
<v Speaker 4>It was just a moment when I've realized, oh Holly,
<v Speaker 4>she's she's grown up.
<v Speaker 2>Hey, well, look on the bright side, now you have
<v Speaker 2>so much more time to devote to podcasting.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, indeed more time to spend with you.
<v Speaker 2>Also, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, traded in Mitch One
<v Speaker 2>might say you're upgraded. Who knows. Yeah, oh, life it's
<v Speaker 2>always changing.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I'm looking forward to doing this reviewer because I
<v Speaker 4>really liked this episode once upon a time in Springfield.
<v Speaker 2>You didn't like it.
<v Speaker 4>I did not like and that's fine, you know, Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>it's okay to not like the same things.
<v Speaker 2>How many times have we said to our power Lennon
<v Speaker 2>Moulton on the movie Guard with Mountain Dame, it's like,
<v Speaker 2>it's all right if we don't agree about this movie.
<v Speaker 4>Sometimes this is when we're suggesting a film to review
<v Speaker 4>and he's like, I didn't like that one.
<v Speaker 2>That's okay, tell us why? Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>I feel like people like hearing criticism as opposed to
<v Speaker 4>praise these days.
<v Speaker 2>Well, yeah, I mean, and criticism not necessarily sledging. Criticism
<v Speaker 2>is analysis of looking at it with a critical eyes, like,
<v Speaker 2>well this worked for me, and here's why. As opposed
<v Speaker 2>to this sucks.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, that's as long as criticism, but justification as
<v Speaker 4>to why it sucks.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that's right. Yeah, informed opinion. Now that's what separates
<v Speaker 2>the Lennard Moultons from say the Guy Davis'.
<v Speaker 4>Before you get into why you thought this episode sucked,
<v Speaker 4>I just want to throw a teaser a promo right
<v Speaker 4>there for our discord, the Fourthing of Discount Discord. If
<v Speaker 4>you're a Simpsons fan, which you obviously are vulous into
<v Speaker 4>the show, the link for our discord is in this
<v Speaker 4>link in the description of this podcast. There are free

<v Speaker 4>that link and become a member of the Fourthing of
<v Speaker 4>Discount Discord. We want as many Simpsons fans in there

<v Speaker 4>As Guy said, I've got every day of the week. Now,
<v Speaker 4>I've got five hours in the morning between nine and
<v Speaker 4>two to do to get shit done. I'm gonna be
<v Speaker 4>hopping on that discord, and my plan is to be
<v Speaker 4>doing some sort of like weekly livestream of some kind.
<v Speaker 4>Obviously you're very, very busy, but I'm gonna be doing
<v Speaker 4>some sort of lives. You might be Simpsons Trivia, might
<v Speaker 4>just be hanging out with the patrons or hanging with
<v Speaker 4>the followers on there. So become a member of the
<v Speaker 4>four figure discount discord.
<v Speaker 2>It is free. You forgot to add, I don't know
<v Speaker 2>how computers work.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, yes, now, once upon a time in springfeit, I'll
<v Speaker 4>tell you what I did. Like I tell I've written here,
<v Speaker 4>I thought this was a delightful episode that for me,
<v Speaker 4>really showed after twenty one years, the Simpsons can still
<v Speaker 4>deliver funny and an emotional story with a well deserved,
<v Speaker 4>heartfelt ending that sends the audience home happy. So I
<v Speaker 4>didn't think you could watch this ending and not feel
<v Speaker 4>sort of like, oh, that's good for Krusty. And the
<v Speaker 4>reason I say this is because Krusty earned that ending.
<v Speaker 4>I feel like the writing earned that ending, because when
<v Speaker 4>Penelope first showed her love for Krusty, the character of
<v Speaker 4>Krusty to me, didn't deserve this. He didn't deserve this
<v Speaker 4>love and adulation. I don't think he even gave back
<v Speaker 4>the love that she deserved as well. Princess Penelope no right,
<v Speaker 4>And I'm thinking, why does this douchebag deserve this love
<v Speaker 4>from this beautiful, intelligent, clearly no great woman, right. And
<v Speaker 4>then we have the wedding scene where he sees previous
<v Speaker 4>ex wives and we're getting to Barton mill has trying
<v Speaker 4>to ruin the wedding yahd YadA YadA, but Krusty sees
<v Speaker 4>it and goes, you know what, I actually respect you
<v Speaker 4>and love you enough to know I don't want to
<v Speaker 4>put you through that I can't marry you. And it's
<v Speaker 4>because I don't want to marry you. It's just I
<v Speaker 4>don't want I know where it will likely end. And
<v Speaker 4>he and he doesn't and then at the end and
<v Speaker 4>she acknowledges that she goes, look, that's your decision.
<v Speaker 2>She's sad.
<v Speaker 4>In France, Krusty has changed his mind and he's changed
<v Speaker 4>his ways for how long we don't know, correct, But
<v Speaker 4>I thought it was nice for the Krusty character to
<v Speaker 4>get some sort of evolution here where he went, I am,
<v Speaker 4>I've been a horrible person, but I've seen what it
<v Speaker 4>is required to be a better person, and you are
<v Speaker 4>bringing out the better person out of me.
<v Speaker 2>Okay. I like where you're coming from, and I think
<v Speaker 2>that idea of Krusty having that realization at the altar
<v Speaker 2>of this woman's too good for me. I've been bad
<v Speaker 2>to women my entire life. I've been a bad partner,
<v Speaker 2>a bad husband, and all that kind of stuff. It
<v Speaker 2>would yeah, I love you too much to marry you.
<v Speaker 2>I think that's it brought you through that. Yeah, I
<v Speaker 2>think that's not a bad idea. And my problem is
<v Speaker 2>everything leading up to the episode does not really letting
<v Speaker 2>us to the wedding. Leading up to the wedding, it
<v Speaker 2>does not really earn it okay. To me, it just
<v Speaker 2>struck me as like, Okay, Princess Menlope has come on.
<v Speaker 2>She's taken over the show. She's the opposite of everything
<v Speaker 2>that Krusty does. To me, it felt like you didn't
<v Speaker 2>see that much interaction between Vanelope and Krusty before You've
<v Speaker 2>got the scene in the dressing room which she said
<v Speaker 2>I'd love you since I was twelve years old or so.
<v Speaker 2>They felt weir, but I get I get what it means. Yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>and then all of a sudden it's like love fantastic
<v Speaker 2>all that kind of stuff.
<v Speaker 4>To me, this could have been best suited as a
<v Speaker 4>one hour episode. I think I think so two parter, yeah,
<v Speaker 4>saying there was so much to this story that I
<v Speaker 4>had to get chopped out for the sake of twenty
<v Speaker 4>two minutes.
<v Speaker 2>There needed to be a whole, not necessarily opposites a
<v Speaker 2>track thing, but it needed to be Princess Penelope is
<v Speaker 2>lovely and she wants nothing but good for Krusty. And
<v Speaker 2>she's like, it can be our show, you know, And
<v Speaker 2>you know, look, some of the stuff you do is
<v Speaker 2>good for boys, and some of the stuff I do
<v Speaker 2>is good for girls. And some of the stuff we
<v Speaker 2>do together is good for both. And he's like, no,
<v Speaker 2>I like the old way. I like doing things my way.
<v Speaker 2>Blah blah blah bah. He slowly comes around her way
<v Speaker 2>of thinking, and yeah, they make each other not better people,
<v Speaker 2>but they sort of become more of a team. Now.
<v Speaker 2>I never really felt that throughout the episode until you
<v Speaker 2>get that I love you, Crusty.
<v Speaker 4>He's like, oh, wow, okay, great, I mean love. So
<v Speaker 4>if it felt rushed, yes, it didn't earn it. I'm
<v Speaker 4>thinking right now top of my head as you explain
<v Speaker 4>that a scene where you can have Krusty, you can
<v Speaker 4>have Crusty's do what you did first, where he's like, no,
<v Speaker 4>I like the old ways, and then you can have
<v Speaker 4>Crusty walking down the hallway and he overhears a meeting
<v Speaker 4>between or Penelope's dressing room and the executives are and
<v Speaker 4>they're like, look, we're making so much more money. Now,
<v Speaker 4>let's just get rid of Crusty. And she goes, Now,
<v Speaker 4>Crusty is the heart and soul of this show. She goes,
<v Speaker 4>I don't want to ge rid of and he hears
<v Speaker 4>that and goes, oh, I've been too hard on her.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and she's actually, well, she's actually a good person
<v Speaker 2>as opposed to someone who's come to steal my show. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>let's make it the Princess Penelope Experience featuring Crusty. No, no, no, no,
<v Speaker 2>this is the Krusty Show. Yeah, and eventually it could
<v Speaker 2>be the Krusty and Penelope Show. But no, no, we're not.
<v Speaker 2>We're not kicking him out. He's yeah, as he said,
<v Speaker 2>he's the heart and soul as opposed to you. I
<v Speaker 2>just love you because I've always loved you. Correct.
<v Speaker 4>They can build up the relationship that way because I
<v Speaker 4>get the feeling. I mean, we can work together as
<v Speaker 4>a team. And once he works together the team, he's like,
<v Speaker 4>oh my god, now I'm.
<v Speaker 2>In love with her. Yeah, it's called the you know,
<v Speaker 2>it's called Krusty Lou Studios, which is a play on Desilou,
<v Speaker 2>which was Lucille Ball's company, you know, des and Lucille Ball.
<v Speaker 2>And I mean Dess was a talented guy, but lucill
<v Speaker 2>Wall was clearly the driver that of course. Sure, yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>but I mean it would have been great if they
<v Speaker 2>these two realize, oh, we're two strong personalities. Oh we
<v Speaker 2>love each other, but we are sometimes we clash all that.
<v Speaker 2>It could have been like a Desioners and Lucier Ball
<v Speaker 2>kind of analogue. But again, we've only got twenty something
<v Speaker 2>minutes to work with here.
<v Speaker 4>You could also you could also have Crusty coming to
<v Speaker 4>the realization, you know what, maybe it's time to pass
<v Speaker 4>the torch and have that moment in the dress room
<v Speaker 4>where he's he's everheard and he and they start working
<v Speaker 4>together as a team, and then he goes, I think
<v Speaker 4>I'm going to give you the show. Now he goes,
<v Speaker 4>I don't. I think I'm used today's today's news. You
<v Speaker 4>are than news, And that's where she confesses her love
<v Speaker 4>for him. That's not just in that way, it's not
<v Speaker 4>out of the blue. She's like, no, no, I've loved you.
<v Speaker 2>For so long.
<v Speaker 4>You are a great person. As a team, w will
<v Speaker 4>be the best that we can be.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. See, I mean literally I'm biased because we're we're
<v Speaker 2>coming up with the other it is, but I already
<v Speaker 2>think that's better because to me, it's like when we
<v Speaker 2>talked about those days with baby. I mean I think
<v Speaker 2>that had like a solid idea in it or a
<v Speaker 2>solid theme in it. It just goes about everything in
<v Speaker 2>the most lazy, lame, slapdash way.
<v Speaker 4>The easiest way to make this work is to just
<v Speaker 4>get rid of the B plot, because the B plot
<v Speaker 4>serves as absolutely no purpose of all anyway. Yeah, that's
<v Speaker 4>all right, none that the B plot doesn't interfere or
<v Speaker 4>interact with the A plot in any way. So just
<v Speaker 4>take out the B plot. Put that in a different
<v Speaker 4>episode cause I didn't mind the beeple, But put that
<v Speaker 4>in a different episodes somewhere. Oh yeah, I mean, and
<v Speaker 4>then and then, and then just have this one with
<v Speaker 4>the full because this story here, if it had the
<v Speaker 4>full twenty two dedicated to it, you can flash it out.
<v Speaker 4>Oh yeah, I mean, you could do a whole episode
<v Speaker 4>about there's a new there's a Capital city, yeah, the
<v Speaker 4>Cap City plant, or there's yeah, there's a new employer
<v Speaker 4>in town. It's like, we'll give we'll give the workers
<v Speaker 4>everything they want, I mean everything that you know, it's
<v Speaker 4>workers as supposedly. Wow, a great healthcare plan, oh wow,
<v Speaker 4>humane working conditions, and you know.
<v Speaker 2>They should really take this. This is the golden opportunity.
<v Speaker 2>This is what everybody wants. And then at the end
<v Speaker 2>there's they're so dumb and greedy, and so was like, wait,
<v Speaker 2>we get these dope donuts twice a day, Okay, no
<v Speaker 2>health plan? Yeah, yeah, I'll take that in favor of Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>in favor of what's right for the workers. Well, I've
<v Speaker 2>been saying that would have been a great whole episode. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I've been saying for a long time. I hate what
<v Speaker 2>Burns has become. I felt this was as close to
<v Speaker 2>classic Burns as we've got, where he's groveling, but he's growling,
<v Speaker 2>but he's got an endgame, that's right. Yeah, I mean
<v Speaker 2>he can't be he can be old and kind of
<v Speaker 2>pathetic or decrepit in some ways, but he's still got
<v Speaker 2>to have teeth. He's still got to and even he's
<v Speaker 2>more dangerous because he's been around so long and he
<v Speaker 2>knows how Yeah, is rich and that makes him dangerous,
<v Speaker 2>or it makes him a threat in some ways, or
<v Speaker 2>it makes him kind of a tyrant or over but yeah,
<v Speaker 2>mainly he's guys like, I can I think you an
<v Speaker 2>out scheme because doing this forever. Yeah. Yeah, he's always
<v Speaker 2>wants to bed.
<v Speaker 4>He knew they're going to ask for a health plan,
<v Speaker 4>so he's like, well, I've got two doughnuts. He's already
<v Speaker 4>got it ready to go.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah. That's great if you had that a whole episode,
<v Speaker 2>I mean, or as the a plot in another episode
<v Speaker 2>with a with a because we didn't really see why
<v Speaker 2>they were trying to scout these three. Yeah, and it
<v Speaker 2>seems like they're the only employees at the Springfield.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, And I think what you need to do is
<v Speaker 4>you need to have them Homer and Lenny telling the
<v Speaker 4>other guys and everyone else leaving the Springfield plant to.
<v Speaker 2>Go to this plant. Yeah. Have them a sort of
<v Speaker 2>we're losing employees everywhere. Have them are sort of the delegates. Yeah. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>But honestly, I think the a plot of this involving
<v Speaker 2>Princess Melby, Yeah, could have been its whole own story.
<v Speaker 2>But the way they went about and you touched on
<v Speaker 2>this a little earlier, but yeah, Krusty realizing, oh, my
<v Speaker 2>style of comedy is perhaps not what it used to be.
<v Speaker 2>It's not in they've touched on this and other episodes
<v Speaker 2>as well. Yeah, but got them with the ponytail cigarette.
<v Speaker 2>That's great. And then realizing, oh, well, yeah, maybe kids
<v Speaker 2>are into princesses and Princess Penelope and she's the new
<v Speaker 2>wave of things. I'll step aside or whatever. But no,
<v Speaker 2>and no, no, we can work together and it'd be great.
<v Speaker 2>I want to work together. Yeah. I think that's a
<v Speaker 2>good idea, and they sort of touched on it in
<v Speaker 2>this episode. But the way they go about it, it
<v Speaker 2>just feels so we're using this. I feel like we're
<v Speaker 2>using this term a fair bit. We we're talking about
<v Speaker 2>modern Simpsons is mean spirited. Yeah, it's kind of like
<v Speaker 2>they're sympathizing with Barton Millhouse, who are kind of like
<v Speaker 2>it's for girls now and girls things suck, And I mean, look,
<v Speaker 2>I've been guilty of this is like WHA's everything's howing? Clusion?
<v Speaker 2>I why just make your own storage? But it's like,
<v Speaker 2>I don't know the way they were going about it
<v Speaker 2>just felt kind of cruel.
<v Speaker 4>I'm trying to work on the idea had before where
<v Speaker 4>he says we can work as a team, maybe you
<v Speaker 4>could also have that, you know. They start working as
<v Speaker 4>a team and Krusty starts falling in love with her,
<v Speaker 4>and he's like, I can't. I'm falling in love with
<v Speaker 4>this girl, and I can't work with it because I just,
<v Speaker 4>I just I'm getting too close. And look, we need
<v Speaker 4>to separate because I'm falling in love with you. And
<v Speaker 4>that's where she says, I love you too. I think, oh,
<v Speaker 4>yeah's for all your faults and now to say the
<v Speaker 4>whole I've loved you since I was twelve years old.
<v Speaker 4>I've seen you at your worst, and she goes, but
<v Speaker 4>I've seen you at your best as well, that's right,
<v Speaker 4>and I love you for everything about you.
<v Speaker 2>And it's like, that's classic. That's wrong. Com one. I won.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, yeah, there we go. I mean, and you can
<v Speaker 4>still have the wedding moment. As a result, they're going, look,
<v Speaker 4>look all my previous marriagers didn't work. I can't put
<v Speaker 4>you through this. She's like, no, no, I still love you.
<v Speaker 4>He's like, no, I can't do it, and you can
<v Speaker 4>still have that ending.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you have some scene beforehand where you know, where
<v Speaker 2>he's confronted by one or two of the x Yves.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, this isn't the.
<v Speaker 4>It's like, should moved to France? And why is she
<v Speaker 4>still Princess PELOPI? Yeah, that's the thing.
<v Speaker 2>What happened here? Yeah, the whole bit in France at
<v Speaker 2>the end. I know, I know you like it. No,
<v Speaker 2>I like anything to do with Paris. But at the
<v Speaker 2>same time, it's like, I don't get this. Why is
<v Speaker 2>she giving up all the success? Yeah? Admittedly, look you're
<v Speaker 2>getting Anne Hathaway to sing some more stuff. She's got
<v Speaker 2>a lovely singing voice.
<v Speaker 4>And why would they keep Krusty and not Princess Penelope
<v Speaker 4>if they're going to pick one of the two? The
<v Speaker 4>exactly is I'm talking about it?
<v Speaker 2>That's right. Unless you know, we sort of see we
<v Speaker 2>have just a moment where it's kind of like Crusty,
<v Speaker 2>your cue readings are through the roof, you know, kids
<v Speaker 2>love you again, and it's like, yeah, they put back
<v Speaker 2>the krusty merchandise. You know, you have wise guys that
<v Speaker 2>have had to dig around in the in the dumpster.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, oh, I got I get all this stuff out.
<v Speaker 2>You know, they're trying to sell krusty merchant that's got
<v Speaker 2>cruddle over it. Yeah, there you go. I think that'd
<v Speaker 2>be kind of funny. Well.
<v Speaker 4>The thing that the logic about this, though I didn't
<v Speaker 4>quite understand, right, is is so they're trying to get
<v Speaker 4>girls to tune in, right, But if you're scaring away
<v Speaker 4>all the boys and you're having girls instead, then what
<v Speaker 4>was the point? Yeah, because you're scaring away one half
<v Speaker 4>of your audience.
<v Speaker 2>That's the thing. Even allude to that in the episode,
<v Speaker 2>because I mean, the Simpson has done such a great
<v Speaker 2>job in the past, and I'm sorry to be the
<v Speaker 2>guy who says, oh, they used to do it better,
<v Speaker 2>but I mean they used to really kick the ship
<v Speaker 2>out of pretentious executives and quote unquoe creative producers that
<v Speaker 2>didn't really know what the fun Yeah. Yeah, And the
<v Speaker 2>ones they've got at the start here are just like
<v Speaker 2>this is such this is such so lazy. This is
<v Speaker 2>just feels so lazy with these guys, with these two
<v Speaker 2>Wes Lindsey, Yeah exactly. Here's a dog that gets biz
<v Speaker 2>a consistently and thoroughly put it on my tombstone, and yeah,
<v Speaker 2>have them sort of be oh, like, oh, we got
<v Speaker 2>this great idea, We're going to attract female markets, Like,
<v Speaker 2>but wait a minute, we lost the boys sort of
<v Speaker 2>runofs what about the boys who just think, yeah, they've
<v Speaker 2>got all these buzzwords and they've got these sort of
<v Speaker 2>quote unquite great ideas, and it's like, oh, wait, we
<v Speaker 2>messed up. It's the great we don't know anything.
<v Speaker 4>The guy selling the lips and it's like, what else
<v Speaker 4>can you do with them?
<v Speaker 2>Make you sure? So we go down to my basement.
<v Speaker 2>So there you go. Okay, look there's the germ of
<v Speaker 2>a good idea. I'm fine for myself, sort of saying
<v Speaker 2>that a lot about the Simpsons these days. But yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I just don't think it was executed all that well.
<v Speaker 2>I think I get the feeling there was.
<v Speaker 4>Too much try to stuffed in when you could have
<v Speaker 4>separated these two. It had two really fully fleshed up
<v Speaker 4>that's correct. I still really enjoyed it for what it was,
<v Speaker 4>but I think in particular what I loved was just
<v Speaker 4>An Hathaway's performance as Princess Penelope. This is a character
<v Speaker 4>who've never met before, right, And I think by the
<v Speaker 4>end of this I had more of an emotional connection
<v Speaker 4>to this character than I have for many of the
<v Speaker 4>characters we've had for the last year. I thought, she
<v Speaker 4>added again, it's just Ane Hathaway.
<v Speaker 2>That's true.
<v Speaker 4>I mean, it's hard not to love an Hathway. But
<v Speaker 4>I just think she just adds this real sense of
<v Speaker 4>realism and believability to this characters, Like I can believe
<v Speaker 4>that Princess Penelope actually does love Trusty.
<v Speaker 2>I'm not buying it as much as you are, but
<v Speaker 2>I do like the performance. Look, it's kind of a shortcut,
<v Speaker 2>I guess.
<v Speaker 4>I'm just I was glad because I couldn't really remember
<v Speaker 4>how this one ended. I'm just glad that Princess Penelope
<v Speaker 4>because we know that the male dominated writing room of
<v Speaker 4>the Simpsons, right, you know the gags we tend to
<v Speaker 4>get women am all right. I'm just glad that once
<v Speaker 4>she did that, it wasn't her pretending to love him
<v Speaker 4>to get further and further her career. She just genuinely
<v Speaker 4>loved him, which I thought, Okay, Well, that's nice, okay,
<v Speaker 4>because they could have easily have gone the whole Oh
<v Speaker 4>that woman, she's using crusty.
<v Speaker 2>That's a good point. That's a good point as I
<v Speaker 2>was about to say, it's a bit of a comedy
<v Speaker 2>shortcut when you have someone who seems very pretty and
<v Speaker 2>particular and perfect in every way, and then when you
<v Speaker 2>hear their real words, it's kind of like, yeah, straight
<v Speaker 2>out of Straight out of Jersey or something in Long Island.
<v Speaker 2>They don't do that again. They show that once when
<v Speaker 2>she's on the phone, but then she just told and
<v Speaker 2>then she does talks like Ann Hathaway. Yeah, so she
<v Speaker 2>doesn't Penelope. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>So you're hear on the phone talking like that and
<v Speaker 4>you think, oh so, and that's the because that's to
<v Speaker 4>say what she give messes her love. And I was like, ah,
<v Speaker 4>so is she not who she's meant? But then it
<v Speaker 4>was just weird because look, what's the point showing her
<v Speaker 4>voice like that if she's not going to use that
<v Speaker 4>voice for the rest of the episode.
<v Speaker 2>But it's always a good comedy shortcut. I mean SNL
<v Speaker 2>does it all the time. Every time they have Scarlet
<v Speaker 2>Johnson on, she always plays this sort of recurring character.
<v Speaker 2>This not every time, but for a while her dad
<v Speaker 2>was like sold really techy like garden furniture and stuff
<v Speaker 2>for the house, and she'd come on board. It's like
<v Speaker 2>you've got her on these things. Look at this one,
<v Speaker 2>look at that one, and it's beautiful skeleton Hanson talking
<v Speaker 2>like this, It's like, it's pretty funny. I'm always flowed.
<v Speaker 4>When I hear British actors speaking in their accent, when
<v Speaker 4>you've just known for all their American voice roles. I
<v Speaker 4>like Leam Nisan for example, Like when I was a kid,
<v Speaker 4>he was Obi Wan and Quie gone right, and then
<v Speaker 4>I was like, hey on British and the Millie Bobby Brown,
<v Speaker 4>I forgot she was British, right. And I watched the
<v Speaker 4>documentary for Strange Things five and I was like, hang
<v Speaker 4>on a minute now, and there's a few other things
<v Speaker 4>we need to touch on here. So this was promoted
<v Speaker 4>as the four undred and fiftieth EPISO, so they're trying
<v Speaker 4>to treat it as like a special because at the
<v Speaker 4>end it says thanks to twenty years and the best
<v Speaker 4>is yet to come, YadA, YadA, YadA. And it was
<v Speaker 4>aired alongside I never I remember watching it, but it
<v Speaker 4>was just, yeah, it's kind of like just forgotten about now.
<v Speaker 4>The twentieth anniversary special The Simpsons in three D on
<v Speaker 4>ice because it was directed by Morgan's Spurlock.
<v Speaker 2>You see that the supersize supercize me. Yeah, Rip Morgan.
<v Speaker 2>He's been along with us.
<v Speaker 4>He's no longer with us, but apparently had some controversies
<v Speaker 4>and whatnot. So this special just sort of just it
<v Speaker 4>was probably on YouTube somewhere, but it's just it's not.
<v Speaker 2>Deemed problematic after the fact. Yeah. Yeah, probably the whole
<v Speaker 2>supersizing anything was kind of a roost or something.
<v Speaker 4>I'm not too sure whatever. Yeah, I remember watching his
<v Speaker 4>going I'm not buying this at all.
<v Speaker 2>I remember watching I'm buying a big maga for this.
<v Speaker 4>I want to be the guy. It's all the big Max.
<v Speaker 4>But there wasn't the fortund and fiftieth episode. It was
<v Speaker 4>the four to fifty first last week Thursdays of Abby
<v Speaker 4>was the four to fiftieth, And they like those episodes
<v Speaker 4>even worse than this one. So let's just let's kind
<v Speaker 4>of it's weird. Why they why they do that, Why
<v Speaker 4>they would say it's the found and fiftieth episode, but
<v Speaker 4>it's not true.
<v Speaker 2>It doesn't really make it that whole, that whole bit
<v Speaker 2>at the end that coming up thanks for twenty wonderful years.
<v Speaker 2>The Bestie like kind of felt like a joke, but
<v Speaker 2>it's like injecting this weird sincerity. I mean, after Middlely,
<v Speaker 2>after a quite sincere ending. But like so, I am
<v Speaker 2>using the term unearned a lot. I thought it was earned.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, but the it's al Jean has said that he
<v Speaker 4>thought this is one of the five essential episodes in
<v Speaker 4>the show's history.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, well I disagree with al Jean, but that's all right.
<v Speaker 4>And Hathaway she won the Primetime Emmy Award for her
<v Speaker 4>Voice of performance here. She won two awards for it
<v Speaker 4>this episode and it also has a various other guest stars.
<v Speaker 4>Power Maruice Lamash appears in this again. He is the
<v Speaker 4>nuclear power plant security guard. Gary Larson appears at the
<v Speaker 4>power plant as well.
<v Speaker 2>As we were touched on.
<v Speaker 4>Jackie Mason returns as as Rusty's dad, but we get
<v Speaker 4>an appearance of from Earth the Kit now Earth Kitty,
<v Speaker 4>actual Earth Kid? Was it the actual Earth of Kid? Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>who's one of Crusty's last wife. She recorded this just
<v Speaker 4>before she passed away, so she passed away before this
<v Speaker 4>episode air, but she recorded it in time, which is
<v Speaker 4>why the episode was dedicated to her.
<v Speaker 2>Indeed, and yeah, she's doing a play on her performance
<v Speaker 2>in the Adam West Batman as Catwoman. I was doing
<v Speaker 2>cat puns. Rror the kid. What a character? What a
<v Speaker 2>great name? Earth a Kit? Yeah, earth a Kit And
<v Speaker 2>it sounds like something you buy Bunnings, but instead it's
<v Speaker 2>just a dope name for a great lady.
<v Speaker 4>And it's just her real name, Eartha may Kit. What
<v Speaker 4>a lady? Indeed, I remember she's saying Santa Baby. I
<v Speaker 4>think you know. I'm pretty sure I've heard a version
<v Speaker 4>of Santa Baby. It's just like, oh my, now, guys,
<v Speaker 4>I hope you're enjoyed this week's show. Remember, if you

<v Speaker 4>favorite moments from this episode I'll run through mind becau.
<v Speaker 4>I'm assuming you don't have many, but I didn't mind
<v Speaker 4>Krusty here where So Princess Pinelope is talking about how
<v Speaker 4>she used to like watching Crusty on the specific station
<v Speaker 4>and he's like, oh yeah, there's a fat station. Manager's like,
<v Speaker 4>that's my dad. Great guy.
<v Speaker 2>Crusty is no dummy.
<v Speaker 4>I'll like to debait and switch of Crusty in the
<v Speaker 4>water at the end, so you think, oh, he's staying
<v Speaker 4>next to on the bridge and he's not there. I'm like, oh, no,
<v Speaker 4>he's in the water's bolt, he's falling off the boat.
<v Speaker 4>And finally Homer here when bart is talking about women
<v Speaker 4>ruining everything and Hamah says, you say that now, but
<v Speaker 4>when you're older, you'll just think it.
<v Speaker 2>It's yes, it is actually very true unless you're a podcast.
<v Speaker 2>As I mentioned before, I like when Ann Hathaway sort
<v Speaker 2>of puts on the blue collar voice. I thought that
<v Speaker 2>was good and I thought this was quite an app line.
<v Speaker 2>If new writers knew how to abuld girls, they wouldn't
<v Speaker 2>be Next question you there eating the.
<v Speaker 4>Beast trivia time. My first question for you is what
<v Speaker 4>was Lenny's id badge name a fake one?
<v Speaker 2>Was it? Some have been lazy, some have been sleeping,
<v Speaker 2>some have been sleeping. I think some have been lazies.
<v Speaker 2>Might be him a bit better.
<v Speaker 4>But it's been as in bean, some as bean lazy.
<v Speaker 4>So it's being as opposed to bean. Depends on bean
<v Speaker 4>or bean. Yeah, yeahah, both ways.
<v Speaker 2>Margin makes donuts. What is the missing rainbow sprinkle? That
<v Speaker 2>would be violet? That is correct.
<v Speaker 4>My next question for you is in what year did
<v Speaker 4>Look magazine say Krusty is one of the one hundred
<v Speaker 4>most promising clowns.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, nineteen eighty two, it's fifty eight, fifty eight. How
<v Speaker 2>old is Krusty? That's a good question.
<v Speaker 4>Now I don't really I suppose that would make Crusty
<v Speaker 4>like mid fifties. At this point is yeah.
<v Speaker 2>I get the feling. You probably realy know this. It
<v Speaker 2>may be one of your questions. But what is the
<v Speaker 2>name of the TV station in Mineola, Long Island? Oh?
<v Speaker 4>I don't have that w w dxt, w w d
<v Speaker 4>qtb d qt. My final question for you is what
<v Speaker 4>does the tagline say at the wedding at the country club?
<v Speaker 2>Warning? Oh damn it. I did see that, and I
<v Speaker 2>thought bride's high school friends are annoying. Notrue no, no,
<v Speaker 2>one last question for you, chartty mentions. Girls don't laugh
<v Speaker 2>and they don't buy cigars. And then they talk about
<v Speaker 2>a sponsor that would be dropping them.
<v Speaker 4>Do you Dutch something, Dutch Masters? That's masters? Yes, all right,
<v Speaker 4>that is trivia. Let's now get into some Stonecutters.
<v Speaker 2>Do it.
<v Speaker 4>We're gonna kick off with the incredible KTG.
<v Speaker 2>With her one hundred old Sport.

<v Speaker 4>at four Finger disc a news Nephlet's get into our
<v Speaker 4>review of Once Upon a Time in Springfield. It originally
<v Speaker 4>aired jenerally tenth twenty and ten. The top three films
<v Speaker 4>at the box office are still the same three films.
<v Speaker 4>Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Squiggle, Shelock Holmes and Avatar
<v Speaker 4>still one, two and three, respectively.
<v Speaker 2>Good luck knock an Avatar off the top spot.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, number one for a long time, Like just made
<v Speaker 4>the movie was a long time. They're all a long time,
<v Speaker 4>aren't they. Yeah, unecessary. You can cut out at least
<v Speaker 4>an hour of those films, I reckon, I think so.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>So the sign gag, what was the billboard gag?
<v Speaker 2>This one? This was still suckond after twenty years.
<v Speaker 4>The fox that worked a picture of Maggie. Yes, the
<v Speaker 4>chopboall gag the world may end in twenty twelve, but
<v Speaker 4>this show won't. And the cash gag the couch is
<v Speaker 4>seen inside a human egg. Each family member is a
<v Speaker 4>sperm cell swimming towards and penetrating the egg to sit
<v Speaker 4>on the couch. Conceptions cells, Yeah, then device multiple times,
<v Speaker 4>forming a mister Burns embryo whose first words are excellent.
<v Speaker 2>Doesn't really say excellent that much anymore, do they? No?
<v Speaker 4>He doesn't, no, but he doesn't really scheme much anymore.
<v Speaker 4>This would have been the perfect episode to haven't go excellent.
<v Speaker 2>That's right, Yeah, he used to say that.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, once they go well, I suppose the payoff for
<v Speaker 4>that joke was it cuts to them working at the
<v Speaker 4>power plan again. But if they haven't agreed in that moment, right,
<v Speaker 4>we'll give up the health plan for the two donuts.
<v Speaker 2>Excellent Yes, Yeah, turn around excellent Yes.
<v Speaker 4>Written by Stephanie Gillis and directed by Matthew and a
<v Speaker 4>Stack production code LA b F two zero. The episode
<v Speaker 4>kicks off with Krusty and Mister Teeny on their show
<v Speaker 4>shooting flaming arrows at each other, and they hit side
<v Speaker 4>Show Mal just being very cruel to side show Mal.
<v Speaker 4>So they replaced side Show Mal, did they? That's another
<v Speaker 4>element of this story is the Krusty Show and Princess
<v Speaker 4>Penelbe Show. But we don't see side show Mal on
<v Speaker 4>the show. Yeah, it's almost like you just got replaced.
<v Speaker 4>But we don't see Mal annoyed by this or anything
<v Speaker 4>like that. But Homer about laughing at this. Marge says
<v Speaker 4>that comedy should come from people being nice, and I says, no,
<v Speaker 4>a good old block on the head is what you need.
<v Speaker 4>Man hits you on the head and Homer says, that's
<v Speaker 4>not funny. They now go off the air and crusty,
<v Speaker 4>as I'm assuming many people, once the lights and cameras
<v Speaker 4>are off, becomes a very different person.
<v Speaker 2>To give those saving barns and one of those hats
<v Speaker 2>and toys and whatever. Yeah, one can only imagine Oprah
<v Speaker 2>saying you don't get a car, You don't get a car.
<v Speaker 2>Great show, krusty, terrific.
<v Speaker 1>We've got to make changes, big changes. These are your
<v Speaker 1>ratings with young girls. Hey, my writers know how to
<v Speaker 1>appeal the girls. They wouldn't be riders.
<v Speaker 4>They said they're going to give him a female co host,
<v Speaker 4>and he refused. He says, no, it's not going to happen.
<v Speaker 4>And they said, well, we've got a reality show in order
<v Speaker 4>to help replace you. Two American Isle references here in
<v Speaker 4>this episode.
<v Speaker 2>So a little bit.
<v Speaker 4>Later on they say magical, he says, imagine American.
<v Speaker 2>Idol without Paul or a doll.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, but it's amazing to me. I was saying to
<v Speaker 4>Nicola recently, I cannot believe that I walked through cry
<v Speaker 4>Village Local Reference, you know, local shopping plaza here in
<v Speaker 4>Geelong about a week ago.
<v Speaker 2>Slash danger zone. Yes it's not so bad anymore.
<v Speaker 4>But yeah, walked through there and about a week ago
<v Speaker 4>and it said coming soon, new season of Australian Idol.
<v Speaker 2>I'm like, we're still doing this. Oh yeah, we're still
<v Speaker 2>doing this. Twenty years later. I'm still doing it. But
<v Speaker 2>all these there's a handful of concepts that keep getting
<v Speaker 2>recycled and keep being sort of handballed from network to network.
<v Speaker 2>Big Brother keeps coming back.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah that quick that came and went fast, didn't it.
<v Speaker 2>Well, yeah, but it'll be back again in like two
<v Speaker 2>or three years, you know, and with for like fucking
<v Speaker 2>six weeks or something this week this year. Yeah, but
<v Speaker 2>likewise with the Idol, likewise with I guess, I guess
<v Speaker 2>the voice. Yeah, the voice is definitely one of those
<v Speaker 2>what's that the master singer? Oh yeah, we don't really
<v Speaker 2>I think they're still going strong in the States. So
<v Speaker 2>I think we had it for a little while and
<v Speaker 2>now not as much as we used to.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, imported. Lindsay Loan is one of the Linzilnham as
<v Speaker 4>a guest. Yeah, she was one of the judges.
<v Speaker 2>Her and like Easy and someone else Kerry Big or something.
<v Speaker 4>Jesus anyway, but they say we're going to be host
<v Speaker 4>having a reality show to replace you as hey, hey, I'm
<v Speaker 4>non union.
<v Speaker 2>Then he agrees.
<v Speaker 4>He says basically, please don't replace me, make me like
<v Speaker 4>all the other crap in your network. And I just thought,
<v Speaker 4>I can imagine a lot of other people have had
<v Speaker 4>this meeting where they've said we need the change is
<v Speaker 4>show and have gone no, they're or just replacing of like, okay,
<v Speaker 4>then I'll do what you say, make me like all
<v Speaker 4>the other crap in your network. Which to me, especially
<v Speaker 4>in twenty twenty six, you watch these shows and they're
<v Speaker 4>all the same. It's all the same. They look the same,
<v Speaker 4>they get the same faces on there, they sound the same,
<v Speaker 4>the template is the same. It's just reality shows are
<v Speaker 4>all the exact same format.
<v Speaker 2>Now very much that they're all about here, the journey
<v Speaker 2>and the behind the scenes kind of vismatic happens. Dude.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, I mean because you're.
<v Speaker 4>I'm not really spigging to the reality shows like the
<v Speaker 4>maths and things I watch. We watch Highway Patrol and
<v Speaker 4>Border SECU. We used to watch a bit, but I
<v Speaker 4>don't really watch that. But you're big entiight night math
<v Speaker 4>snack kind of stuff.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, we'll marry. The first Sight Australia has returned and yeah,
<v Speaker 2>Louise and I watched, yeah, the first couple of episodes
<v Speaker 2>the other night and it's like, well, look at the
<v Speaker 2>formula is very obvious now it always has been, but
<v Speaker 2>you know they're sort of trying to establish Oh there's
<v Speaker 2>tension between these guys at the beginning. They don't like
<v Speaker 2>each other, but you know, oh but he might be
<v Speaker 2>a good guy and I think she might be a
<v Speaker 2>bit of a princess. But she's got a point, so
<v Speaker 2>to say, Like we can you can see the seams,
<v Speaker 2>you can see what's what's going on here and even
<v Speaker 2>stuff it's like, oh my god, the dramma. That's like, well,
<v Speaker 2>clearly you've told you've given the gay best friend a
<v Speaker 2>line and blow and just be outrageous.
<v Speaker 1>No, worries it's mart hand to shine.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, So it happens all the time, and there's I'm
<v Speaker 2>sure that when we're a line of blow be outrageous.
<v Speaker 2>We've been very we've been very fortunate talking to the
<v Speaker 2>brain strung behind the Simpsons as of late, we've been
<v Speaker 2>talking to guys like Josh and Bill, Yeah, and and
<v Speaker 2>Mike and these are all first name basis now because
<v Speaker 2>they're aund buddies. Mark Kirkle is coming on, Matt Selmon's
<v Speaker 2>coming on soon. Yes, say that he is busy other people,
<v Speaker 2>but they'll say, how you know. There's people come tune
<v Speaker 2>into shows for some degree of want, a better degree
<v Speaker 2>of predictability, but also some degree of comforts, like I
<v Speaker 2>know how this is going to work.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, is the sense of making themselves feel better about
<v Speaker 4>themselves as well?
<v Speaker 2>That certainly.
<v Speaker 4>But then Marge has a new frying machine, a fry girl.
<v Speaker 4>She wants to make some donuts and she makes Sprinkles
<v Speaker 4>donuts for bar. He says it's no violet, and she says,
<v Speaker 4>well don't well, don't eat it, eat it. And Homan
<v Speaker 4>then ponders about the donuts that are at work, because
<v Speaker 4>apparently they're better the ones in the pink boxes and
<v Speaker 4>he's talking about them.
<v Speaker 2>He drives all the.
<v Speaker 4>Way to work, drives through the gates, and the guy says,
<v Speaker 4>what don't you try to stop him, and he goes
<v Speaker 4>I did once, and the guy's got no arm.
<v Speaker 2>I didn't put this as a favorite moment. I actually
<v Speaker 2>kind of like this line. I thought it worked about
<v Speaker 2>the square masculine edges of the boxes bumping up against
<v Speaker 2>the rounded feminine curves of the don that's not bad.
<v Speaker 2>I kind of like that idea. I like that concept.
<v Speaker 2>Home and then finds there's no pink box though in
<v Speaker 2>the what do you call it? The well, then on
<v Speaker 2>the table the lunch rooms, he caught. Yeah, what a
<v Speaker 2>pink box? What's going on?
<v Speaker 1>I'm afraid to daily donuts no more.
<v Speaker 2>You cannil.
<v Speaker 1>Mister Roosevelt's new deal starts working.
<v Speaker 2>This country still in a depression.
<v Speaker 1>I'm spending a fortune on atams, and we have to
<v Speaker 1>cut costs. But we have way more expensive unnecessaries than donuts.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, like the ceiling furniture are all the joke id badges.
<v Speaker 2>We order no donuts now, donuts.
<v Speaker 4>Exactly that you probably could have had excellent there kind
<v Speaker 4>of exactly is better. Yeah, Krusty then begrudgingly introduces Princess Penelope,
<v Speaker 4>who immediately just sweeps every little girl off her feet,
<v Speaker 4>doesn't she.
<v Speaker 2>Now this kind of was a bit of a bait
<v Speaker 2>and switch from me because I was expecting that, Oh, okay,
<v Speaker 2>she's on the Crusty show. She's Oh, she's a perfect princess,
<v Speaker 2>and then all of a sudden she burps or something,
<v Speaker 2>or fats or whatever. It's just more low bowner comedy,
<v Speaker 2>but in the guise of a princess. But no, she's
<v Speaker 2>just a princess doing princess things.
<v Speaker 4>And as the father of a young girl, people often
<v Speaker 4>say to her because you, holy sh she has a
<v Speaker 4>little lipsticks and things like that. She dresses like princess dresses.
<v Speaker 4>We've had a couple of people say you shouldn't push
<v Speaker 4>a girl stereotypes under her, and I go, first of all,
<v Speaker 4>you don't have a daughter, And second of all, do
<v Speaker 4>you think I'm pushing these things? She's just she just
<v Speaker 4>enjoys it. Why am I going to say no, this,
<v Speaker 4>this makes you fall into the stereotype. You can't do that.
<v Speaker 2>She fucking wants the very addressy to wear address. That's
<v Speaker 2>absolutely the case. Look, I don't want to sound all
<v Speaker 2>sort of Internet philosopher slash, you know, biological determinists or whatever.
<v Speaker 2>Like well, now the saying says this, but I've heard
<v Speaker 2>so much Anagotal Evans and red so much sort of
<v Speaker 2>data about you. Let if you put a bunch of
<v Speaker 2>boys out to play, yeah, one's gonna have a broken arm. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>And also you know three of them are going to
<v Speaker 2>pick up sticks and pretend they're gun. You could you
<v Speaker 2>could have been showing them Princess Penelope from day one.
<v Speaker 2>You could have been blasting that ship to them when
<v Speaker 2>they're in the womb throwing mud pies at each other
<v Speaker 2>and that. Yeah, they that's sort of like biological that's
<v Speaker 2>just innate. Yeah. And likewise, with girls and princess I'm
<v Speaker 2>not saying that everything is like that, but certainly there
<v Speaker 2>are large parts that are like that.
<v Speaker 4>But as we're saying here, so she's Princess Penelope. Lisa
<v Speaker 4>at first isn't swept away until she sees the unicorn.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>And of course Bart and Milhouse don't like her at
<v Speaker 4>all at moso. The guys are very sad.
<v Speaker 2>It just strikes me as so odd that, look, this
<v Speaker 2>is me playing real world logic to this episode of
<v Speaker 2>the symptoms, Like I wanted to just create the Princess
<v Speaker 2>Penelope show like Backdoor Pilot.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah yeah, well that's what the Muppets That special is
<v Speaker 4>going to be tomorrow. Yeah yeah.
<v Speaker 2>And now our new friend, Princess Banalobe and she comes
<v Speaker 2>on like five minutes in. It's like, and if I
<v Speaker 2>like that kids, do you an end of the Princes's
<v Speaker 2>Vanillai show right after the Krusty Show, It's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>double where me? It's like, and the kids will the
<v Speaker 2>boys will be like time for me to go play guns? Well, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>Lisa's gonna be like, yay more.
<v Speaker 4>I had that in my notes. I didn't expand on
<v Speaker 4>it earlier, but when I was saying why would you
<v Speaker 4>scare away all the boys and just try and get
<v Speaker 4>the girls, It's like, why don't you just have a
<v Speaker 4>show for girls and a show for boys?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, kleing them both of them, and then O Casi
<v Speaker 2>had crossovers where it's like, guess what, we're more I
<v Speaker 2>like them.
<v Speaker 4>We're not because because the boys audience wasn't bad for Krusty,
<v Speaker 4>just the girls audience. Well, then create if the Princess's
<v Speaker 4>working just give.
<v Speaker 2>Her own show. This is poor TV stuff.
<v Speaker 4>And there's a there' another really poor marketing concept coming up,
<v Speaker 4>which I'll get to it, and it ruins the gag, but
<v Speaker 4>it's stupid in real world logic, as you said before.
<v Speaker 4>So as we're saying though Mo's, the guys are all
<v Speaker 4>sad there, and then we get Gator McCall, who is
<v Speaker 4>a scout. He wants to buy them around, and Mo's like,
<v Speaker 4>what does buy around me? Which we're seeing we never
<v Speaker 4>buy means, but yeah, he looks it up. Oh, that's
<v Speaker 4>gonna be good for me, and he says he's a
<v Speaker 4>corporate recruiter looking for nuclear power plant workers. So he's
<v Speaker 4>recruiting these guys. Why who knows? Why was he in
<v Speaker 4>Mo's whatever? Doesn't we do know? It should have been
<v Speaker 4>him approaching them at the car park when they got
<v Speaker 4>to their cars, right, or they could have been walked
<v Speaker 4>to the cars and there's like a little card on
<v Speaker 4>their car.
<v Speaker 2>Correct, Yes, good idea.
<v Speaker 4>Late twenty is too late with this idea. So the
<v Speaker 4>studio audience are now all girls at at Krusty show.
<v Speaker 2>I just love it because then you've got that little
<v Speaker 2>sort of mystery. Do do do you do when they look, wow,
<v Speaker 2>a mysterious card. Yes, it was like, oh this is fancy. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>It could be a WILLI Walker parody where it's like
<v Speaker 4>mister slug'sworth comes up and he's like, oh, guys, I've
<v Speaker 4>got a really cool place. But the studio audience at
<v Speaker 4>Krusty Show are now all girls. Don't use cardboard cutouts anymore.
<v Speaker 4>See that's the thing. They weren't saying that Krusty's ratings
<v Speaker 4>were bad. It's just the ratings with the girls were bad.
<v Speaker 4>But now they're saying that the boys weren't there. He's
<v Speaker 4>got cardboard cutouts.
<v Speaker 2>That's the thing. That's when you do a bit of
<v Speaker 2>you know, marketing speaks satura. It's like we found the
<v Speaker 2>most popular and rising demo as teen girls, and I
<v Speaker 2>was you know, twin girls ten to twelve. You know
<v Speaker 2>they've got the money is, they've got money to burn,
<v Speaker 2>and we need to appuild to them. Then you have
<v Speaker 2>like Crusty in a dress for like one scene trying
<v Speaker 2>to appeal to girls like it doesn't worry how we're
<v Speaker 2>hiring Princess Penelope. Yeah, there we go fixed it.
<v Speaker 4>Or it's like someone dressed as a girl and they
<v Speaker 4>hold up a qustion for Krusty and a custom sideha
<v Speaker 4>mail wearing it correct.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, because Krusty refuses to do it.
<v Speaker 4>But anyway, so Krusty is annoyed though he says Dutch
<v Speaker 4>Masters is going to drop them like a hot potato
<v Speaker 4>because they're appealing to a male dominated cigar, so male
<v Speaker 4>dominated ar.
<v Speaker 2>I guess we've also missed a bit where I think
<v Speaker 2>you've got bart and Millhouse watching on the TV. I
<v Speaker 2>didn't think this was a bad line about Lisa. Oh yeah,
<v Speaker 2>well it's the first girl's ruined sex in the city.
<v Speaker 2>Now this Oh did say that he does the aka.
<v Speaker 2>But and this is also with Barton. You can see
<v Speaker 2>the strap on the unicorn. She's just give you this.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah yeah, yeah. Now there was the whole thing about
<v Speaker 2>male nerds who are like keep women out of our
<v Speaker 2>species and all that kind of stuff, So I guess
<v Speaker 2>this could be sort of talking about that. I mean,
<v Speaker 2>it's a good line about sex and the city as well,
<v Speaker 2>because I mean the line so many people say about
<v Speaker 2>sex and the city is like, I know, this has
<v Speaker 2>got four men and a leader, but these are essentially
<v Speaker 2>four gay men.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, we've discussed this before Yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 2>And I mean adddlely canvas Bush and it was the
<v Speaker 2>writer of the Sex and the City book and Colum
<v Speaker 2>and all that kind of stuff. But when it came
<v Speaker 2>to the show, it was created by gay men. It
<v Speaker 2>was created by Darren Starr and I think Michael Patrick
<v Speaker 2>King it was one of the drivers behind it. And
<v Speaker 2>it has a very gay male sensibility in terms of
<v Speaker 2>its female characters. Yeah, even though I mean it does
<v Speaker 2>have a female and feminist viewporn engagement, it also feels
<v Speaker 2>very kind of like I think I know a lot
<v Speaker 2>of gay dudes to talk like this.
<v Speaker 4>We just start a Sex and the Potty show.
<v Speaker 2>Why not? Because the world needs too middle aged men
<v Speaker 2>talking about Sex and the City.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, there is the only one reason I unted to
<v Speaker 4>Sex and the City when I was like twelve year old.
<v Speaker 2>Dan da can control.
<v Speaker 4>The kids, the audience. They're not interested in Krusty's standard that.
<v Speaker 4>I just want to see Princess Penelope flying on a
<v Speaker 4>horse or whatever on a unicorn. She drops some pixie dust.
<v Speaker 4>Christy says, bring this stuffing, can't be good for me.
<v Speaker 4>Custod him blooding a cigarette. Then Bart says that you
<v Speaker 4>know Krusty has become the lowest form of life, a sidekick,
<v Speaker 4>and Milhouse praises him because you know he's a sidekick,
<v Speaker 4>and that's the joke. Homan then arrives to pick up
<v Speaker 4>Lisa from the studio and Bart says, this show sucks me.
<v Speaker 4>I'm not going to be going in Why did women
<v Speaker 4>ruin everything? The Army Fantastic Four? Think of how Awesman
<v Speaker 4>recond Idol would be if it was just Simon and Randy.
<v Speaker 4>I'm like, I don't know, it would be no. As
<v Speaker 4>we're saying earlier, you can say you say that now,
<v Speaker 4>but when you're older, you'll just think it.
<v Speaker 2>Simon Cowe recently was in the news because he said
<v Speaker 2>something like he's.
<v Speaker 4>Worthing like six d mill bucks, like his sixth face.
<v Speaker 4>Oh god, what happened? I don't know what the hell
<v Speaker 4>is going on there.
<v Speaker 2>You think it'd be worth that much you get you know, decent,
<v Speaker 2>decent cosmetic surgery. But he said something like, yeah, my
<v Speaker 2>kids are not getting any of this. I'm not getting
<v Speaker 2>any of this money. Yeah, because it's like, well, I
<v Speaker 2>grew up with that money, you know. Was he going
<v Speaker 2>to spend it or was he going to donate. I
<v Speaker 2>think it's going to donate it, like, you know, the
<v Speaker 2>way they'll have a work ethic.
<v Speaker 4>It's like a fucking but this is the thing, right,
<v Speaker 4>I see that logic, Right, so other kids have to
<v Speaker 4>earn anything. But my mentality is your kids are probably
<v Speaker 4>sacrificed having a dad because you've been so busy with
<v Speaker 4>your work, and now all the sacrifices they've given to
<v Speaker 4>not having not that they've done any sacrifice, but they've
<v Speaker 4>missed out and having a day because you've been so
<v Speaker 4>busy doing your job. And now you're saying all of
<v Speaker 4>that and you're not getting any of the money. Like
<v Speaker 4>the whole point you fucking do that is to build
<v Speaker 4>a foundation for your future kids and kids to have
<v Speaker 4>something to live off. Look, it's not a bad idea
<v Speaker 4>in theory, much like communism, but instead, simon, why don't
<v Speaker 4>you say, my kids are going to come into a
<v Speaker 4>lot of money. It's my responsibility now to teach them
<v Speaker 4>how to use that effectively, whether it's to grow it,
<v Speaker 4>whether it's to maintain it, or whether it's to use
<v Speaker 4>it for the benefit of everyone including themselves, as opposed to.
<v Speaker 2>Just they're not getting it. They're not getting it because
<v Speaker 2>you know I grew up that way. Fuck off. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it's not they're they.
<v Speaker 4>Were born into a wealthy family, correct. Yeah, I mean
<v Speaker 4>if they become brats and so b but they're good kids,
<v Speaker 4>why should they for kid in your money?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah? And if they're not good kids, guess what's on you?
<v Speaker 2>Some cow? Yes exactly, maybe if you went if you're around.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, I mean, what Bart's saying here goes back
<v Speaker 2>to what I was saying earlier about the whole Sex
<v Speaker 2>and the City thing about, Yeah, you've got a bunch
<v Speaker 2>of guys and women ruin everything. Keep them out of
<v Speaker 2>the army, keep them out of the Fantastic four. We
<v Speaker 2>want Sue Storm and the fantastic that we do.
<v Speaker 4>Indeed, yes, but the girls are now all busy getting
<v Speaker 4>signatures from Princess Penelope, and Bart sees this is the
<v Speaker 4>moment sees the crusty merchtore right, goes inside and it's
<v Speaker 4>filled with Princess Penelope stuff. He says, where's the krusty
<v Speaker 4>merchan He says, it's through that magic door, which is
<v Speaker 4>actually the dumbster.
<v Speaker 2>Right, thank you wise.
<v Speaker 4>Terrible marketing. Because if I'm a girl and I'm at
<v Speaker 4>the studio, and I want to buy a bunch of
<v Speaker 4>Princess Penelope merchandise. I'm seeing that sign that store. I'm
<v Speaker 4>not going in there.
<v Speaker 2>That's that's Christmas. We'll cross the shit. Why would you
<v Speaker 2>have Krusty at the front if it's all Prince Pinelopi inside?
<v Speaker 2>You know what I mean.
<v Speaker 4>It's just I know what you mean, terrible marketing. But
<v Speaker 4>it finds crusty outside. He's eating cheap gin sandwiches.
<v Speaker 1>Crusty, Snap out of it. You're crusty the clown. What
<v Speaker 1>of Look Magazine's hundred Most Promising Clowns of nineteen fifty eight.
<v Speaker 1>A lot of suicides in that group, funny suicides, but
<v Speaker 1>still my days over.
<v Speaker 4>Kid, And but says, look whose name's on that poster.
<v Speaker 4>And as he's saying that, they put a Princess Penelope
<v Speaker 4>poster over the top of it. They're throwing the crusty
<v Speaker 4>standees out and they confuse Krusty for a standye while
<v Speaker 4>they throw him in the dumpster. And he says, this is
<v Speaker 4>it and it's time to make a difference here, and
<v Speaker 4>the dumpster starts rolling away and says, why do clown
<v Speaker 4>things always happen to clowns. We're now at Capital City.
<v Speaker 4>The confusing thing for me, right, but Capital City is
<v Speaker 4>the spelling of capital. They can't make their mind up
<v Speaker 4>whether it's with an A or oh, okay, then yes,
<v Speaker 4>sometimes it's oh, sometimes it's as an a here as well,
<v Speaker 4>But I've always known it as the O Capital City
<v Speaker 4>Nuclear Plant, the clean energy there is except once in
<v Speaker 4>a while. But then look out and he introduces Gary
<v Speaker 4>Larsen from the fast Side. Yeah, from the past side. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>so he's tells him to mop up an instant classic folks.
<v Speaker 4>He's the guy the recruiters giving a tour to Lenny,
<v Speaker 4>Karl and Homer and the line wouldn't want to see
<v Speaker 4>that on his X ray. So I don't really know
<v Speaker 4>much about Gary Lason. You want to get to the
<v Speaker 4>listeners who may not know as well.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, the past, well, the fast side of just generally
<v Speaker 2>these one panel cartoons that I don't know how they
<v Speaker 2>skew would take on one liverary. They're not surreal, they're
<v Speaker 2>just kind of a little bit weird, you know. It's
<v Speaker 2>kind of like necessarily wouldn't get the joke, but it's
<v Speaker 2>like I've got to think a little bit to get
<v Speaker 2>this joke, it's not, but on Boom, it's more like,
<v Speaker 2>that's odd. It's an odd way of looking at the world.
<v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, that was essentially it.

<v Speaker 4>slash four figure discout. But then Prissus Penelope, as we're
<v Speaker 4>touching on early, this is where you see her on
<v Speaker 4>the phone using her Southern accent. Wasn't well long Island
<v Speaker 4>long long, of course, long Island accent. Crusty bursts in
<v Speaker 4>and says, I'm the scene still here. You're just the
<v Speaker 4>reason people tune in. And this is where she admits
<v Speaker 4>that she loves him. She's just all over him. She's
<v Speaker 4>loved him since she was twelve years old when she
<v Speaker 4>was watching him on WDQT, which had the fat station
<v Speaker 4>manager great guy, because it was her dad and she
<v Speaker 4>says she had the Crusty club ring. She says, well,
<v Speaker 4>she wasn't very popular at school because she was more
<v Speaker 4>beautiful and talented than everybody else, and she gives them
<v Speaker 4>a big old kiss. This we're pretty dirty gay here
<v Speaker 4>they're stuck into the story with the flower and the
<v Speaker 4>water squirting out of the low. I was like, not that.
<v Speaker 4>Also a good line from Krusty there was like, I
<v Speaker 4>work like I drink alone, Yes, because mister teeny's watching
<v Speaker 4>him though, because he's only there. He's putting on to
<v Speaker 4>his side when he's drinking. Now we cut back and
<v Speaker 4>Crusty has turned a new if. It's now the Krusty
<v Speaker 4>and Princess Panalope smoochy Pooh, I love you Our no laughs,
<v Speaker 4>just hugs and cuddles, and the boys are like, what
<v Speaker 4>the hell is going on here?
<v Speaker 2>Kind of goes back to what Marge was saying earlier.
<v Speaker 2>But I think, yeah, comedy is good when people are
<v Speaker 2>nice to each other.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, and Millhouse says, don't worry mister teen He has
<v Speaker 4>a flaming arrow and turns out he's just doing it
<v Speaker 4>to shoot a love heart fire, and it says French,
<v Speaker 4>what does it say? It says to Lamore, which is
<v Speaker 4>love forever, Love forever in the French diction, Oh man,
<v Speaker 4>what is going on here? And he sings a song
<v Speaker 4>to the parody of this soul man. But it's basically
<v Speaker 4>I've finally got a girlfriend under thirty three. DiCaprio is
<v Speaker 4>twenty five, isn't he?
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, although apparently his current girlfriend has just doned twenty six.
<v Speaker 4>No way, time a day's in number.
<v Speaker 2>Or maybe the cycle has been broken.
<v Speaker 4>Maybe yes, and Lisa I love it also too. I
<v Speaker 4>mean it's horrible, but it doesn't even hide away from it.
<v Speaker 4>It's like everyone says, it's just a rule. It's like,
<v Speaker 4>that's the joke. That's the joke. He's got a rule.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, no, but like he seems to stick to
<v Speaker 2>this rule. Oh yeah, they always say. It's like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>the age of which you become famous is kind of
<v Speaker 2>the age at which you are stuck. Okay, you become
<v Speaker 2>frozen them. That's why my so many child stars just
<v Speaker 2>to become a real mess.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, yeah, because their maturity levels never yeah, okay, fair enough.
<v Speaker 4>But then Lisa sings the song as well, but he
<v Speaker 4>unplugs the TV. He's just not a fan of.
<v Speaker 2>This at all.
<v Speaker 4>Lisaer gives a talk at school that Princess ann and
<v Speaker 4>all the girls now dresses princesses doing all their talks,
<v Speaker 4>and this is where we get the moment that gets
<v Speaker 4>memed a lot now, especially Abound made the fourth of
<v Speaker 4>Ralph dressed as Princess Lea, saying I'm a star Wars.
<v Speaker 2>I did not like it.
<v Speaker 4>I didn't like it.
<v Speaker 2>Why not? I just feel it's more dumb ass Ralph stuff.
<v Speaker 2>I'm getting really sick of the way they use Ralph.
<v Speaker 4>Ralph's just got no substance at all, hasn't he. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>he's just there to say something stupid. Yeah, but it's
<v Speaker 4>been like that since since. I mean they really they
<v Speaker 4>dumbed him down to this level really early on. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>I'm talking like maybe like season eight nine. He was
<v Speaker 4>he was already at this point.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, long away from Chu Chu choose me.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, Indeed, the guys are now getting massages and they're
<v Speaker 4>getting free sushi through the face hole, just having the
<v Speaker 4>time of their lives. Why Smithers there?
<v Speaker 2>What have I written? Wait? What the Smither's doing that? Yeah?
<v Speaker 4>This isn't just some random health club. This is surely
<v Speaker 4>the power Plants health Club. Right, Yeah, I was so
<v Speaker 4>confused by that, Like, why Smithers there? I thought it
<v Speaker 4>was going to be I thought the undercut when I
<v Speaker 4>saw Smithers, I thought it was going to be, Oh
<v Speaker 4>my god, the recruited Smithers too. And he doesn't want
<v Speaker 4>them to know because this is the thing they don't know,
<v Speaker 4>so that they think that Smithers doesn't know they're being recruited,
<v Speaker 4>and the Smithers would not know that them are being recruits.
<v Speaker 4>That would actually be a fun story of them trying
<v Speaker 4>to avoid each other.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, classic Shenanigans. Classic.
<v Speaker 4>There was definitely an entire episode with this story, I think,
<v Speaker 4>if you wanted it to be.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>But then he called mister Burns and says, the heart
<v Speaker 4>of our tugger War team, even though it's the year
<v Speaker 4>that's going to be, they're going to be scattered. So
<v Speaker 4>he says, the reason they're doing this is because they've
<v Speaker 4>they've cut back on donuts. He says, I think what
<v Speaker 4>I can do, and this is why that's what I
<v Speaker 4>hate about Burns.
<v Speaker 2>He thinks, and he.
<v Speaker 4>Rubs his head, shaves his head in, and then blows
<v Speaker 4>it back out again by going I'm like stupid.
<v Speaker 2>I hate that.
<v Speaker 4>It's one of my biggest pet peeves of the Simpsons
<v Speaker 4>is the first shit with his body doing shit that
<v Speaker 4>I shouldn't. The boys are now hating the new love
<v Speaker 4>Field show and Krusty is sick of this woman though
<v Speaker 4>he's sick of this woman not being married to him.
<v Speaker 4>So will you be my princess bride?
<v Speaker 2>O that line? Princess bride?
<v Speaker 4>She obviously agrees, and then Milhasse says, you know, it's
<v Speaker 4>easy for a wedding to go wrong and buckets an idea,
<v Speaker 4>and he proposes that they team up to ruin the wedding.
<v Speaker 2>This is all.
<v Speaker 4>Happening so fast. Let's call my mum together. Now, the
<v Speaker 4>guys are leaving the power planted Homer leaves before he
<v Speaker 4>has a melt down himself. Before we get too emotional,
<v Speaker 4>Karl says, if I didn't have to work here, we
<v Speaker 4>would have been friends, and then he turns off the power,
<v Speaker 4>which turns off the power for the city, turns it
<v Speaker 4>back on. Then Burns is in the car park and
<v Speaker 4>he pleads to them. He offers him a donut as
<v Speaker 4>a going away present, and an old fashioned one made
<v Speaker 4>the old fashioned way with dose sweetened with Cuban sugar
<v Speaker 4>from pre Batista plantation. Then it's deep fried in the
<v Speaker 4>tallow of three different animals, two of which are now extinct.
<v Speaker 2>He's really selling it. It made me feel like a donut
<v Speaker 2>I won't lie. I am just not a donut guy. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>you know. He just some things you love and something
<v Speaker 2>you don't.
<v Speaker 4>I've never I've never eaten a donut and gone that
<v Speaker 4>was fucking amazing. I've always I enjoy them, but not
<v Speaker 4>enough to want more.
<v Speaker 2>The really good donuts that I've had have been good
<v Speaker 2>enough to make me go on the search for like
<v Speaker 2>continuing that high. And there haven't been that many, but
<v Speaker 2>the ones that I have been really good. Do you
<v Speaker 2>prefer filled ones or filed Okay, jam donuts are great,
<v Speaker 2>hot jam on a cold winternight, absolutely, yeah, get a
<v Speaker 2>bag of the footy.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, the fresh ones, absolutely, straight out of the deep fryer.
<v Speaker 2>One of the dripping on your fingers when you when
<v Speaker 2>you're holding it. Unfortunately, we have reached oh maybe not
<v Speaker 2>so much now, but there certainly was a stagehere. It's
<v Speaker 2>like extreme donuts where it's like with burgers as well.
<v Speaker 2>You know, sometimes you'll see it's like that burger shouldn't
<v Speaker 2>be tall, they should be wide. Yeah yeah, because I
<v Speaker 2>can't eat it like that. Yeah, but where they have
<v Speaker 2>to have two hands on the side like that. Yeah yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>that's that's fantastic. But and like I was, we've done,
<v Speaker 2>it's like, oh, you're putting too much stuff on top
<v Speaker 2>all you're feeling it with too much stuff. And when
<v Speaker 2>I take a book there's too many variants now as well,
<v Speaker 2>well know they can never be up there and stand. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Well, it's like I'm trying to say, fancied it up
<v Speaker 4>too much. It's called like beer, all these craft beer.
<v Speaker 2>Isn't that right?
<v Speaker 4>Because I went to we went out for a birthday
<v Speaker 4>on Friday night and my old man and happy birthday
<v Speaker 4>to my dad, Happy birthday to patron Saint Acadamen as
<v Speaker 4>well recently.
<v Speaker 2>His birthday props.
<v Speaker 4>But we're out the pub and dad's getting some beer
<v Speaker 4>and he's like, I was gonna have two pots of beer.
<v Speaker 4>And the guy's like, what beer do you want and
<v Speaker 4>he's like, no, just just normal beer. And he goes,
<v Speaker 4>We've got this one. This one is a and he's like,
<v Speaker 4>I just want a beer? Can I just get a beer?
<v Speaker 2>Two words Culton Draft.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, yeah, just give me a beer. And he's like,
<v Speaker 4>but do you want to pale al?
<v Speaker 2>Do you want this? It's like, I just want a beer.
<v Speaker 2>Where'd you go? It was redacted if you like, but
<v Speaker 2>tell me it was Buckley's. Okay, I wouldn't expect from Buckley, No,
<v Speaker 2>I know, but they didn't have Carlton drafts on tap.
<v Speaker 2>I yeah, it's just feels bizarre. Ye fail. Yeah. I
<v Speaker 2>was like, there's gonna be.
<v Speaker 4>There's still a generation of men out there that just
<v Speaker 4>want either VB or Culton Draft correct. Yeah, and that's fine.
<v Speaker 4>It's like you doesn't have to be low carved this
<v Speaker 4>and I just want a beer.
<v Speaker 2>We had a barbecue the other day at at Popcorn
<v Speaker 2>gym oh before Oh, it's just you know, you guys
<v Speaker 2>been working out a barbie. But someone dug deep into
<v Speaker 2>the ars can pulled out like a cannon. But it
<v Speaker 2>was like, is that a hot tap time machine? Did
<v Speaker 2>you pull that out of nineteen seventy four? Because that's
<v Speaker 2>what it looked like, a can of VB from nineteen
<v Speaker 2>seventy four. We were all instantly saying, oh, Thursday, it's
<v Speaker 2>a big coldby because there were so many sort of
<v Speaker 2>like not boutique beers around it. But yeah, you're right.
<v Speaker 2>It's like I guarantee did anyone drink it? He's an xpa.
<v Speaker 2>Oh no, Maca had it.
<v Speaker 4>I was going to tell you there's like there's three
<v Speaker 4>people I can tell you probably drink it.
<v Speaker 2>He's one of them.
<v Speaker 4>If I won't say the names, but if I Freak
<v Speaker 4>was still there, he would ad it or Doggy.
<v Speaker 2>Well Maca got this one. Yeah, there we go.
<v Speaker 4>So Brockwan is now discussing the various famous celebrity couples
<v Speaker 4>at the time. So, I know Brand Jelina, but Queen Latifa, Like,
<v Speaker 4>what is Alex Rodriguez?
<v Speaker 2>Who it is like Queen Latifa?
<v Speaker 4>Roddy said, it sounds like a rod Yeah, and it
<v Speaker 4>looks like you're wanting a baseball uniform in the picture.
<v Speaker 2>Well, yeah, he's a baseballer. So but I could be
<v Speaker 2>here's the thing. Yeah, I assumed it was common knowledge.
<v Speaker 2>I'm pretty sure that Queen Latifa is gay. Okay, And
<v Speaker 2>but here's here's something though. Apparently, back in two thousand
<v Speaker 2>and one, Alex Rodriguez promised.
<v Speaker 4>She's never publicly labeled her sexuality. Apparently, okay, she's been
<v Speaker 4>in a long term relationship with Ebony Nichols since twenty thirteen.
<v Speaker 4>Has an increasingly referenced her partner of family in public,
<v Speaker 4>including thanking her at the twenty twenty one be Et
<v Speaker 4>Awards event.
<v Speaker 2>You go, Queen yes A Rod recently recently disappointed rapper
<v Speaker 2>Queen Latifa when he promised each op at her birthday
<v Speaker 2>party and then skipped it. Oh, this sounds like Elliott
<v Speaker 2>and Holly behaviors. It you're going to make birthday Bertie
<v Speaker 2>ah Man.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, let's Queen the Teeth fort apparently, Well, let's join.
<v Speaker 2>Let's there's one more to add to the list. Chrostelope
<v Speaker 2>christ Allopey.
<v Speaker 4>Yes, it's Krusty's fifteenth marriage and her first. For her
<v Speaker 4>she's not actually a princess. Her real name is Penelope
<v Speaker 4>mount Batton Habsburg Howen Zolan Mulan Pocahontas.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, I guess that's the joke. Yep.
<v Speaker 4>Now it's time for the wedding at the country club.
<v Speaker 4>There's got the guy dresses up as a horse like
<v Speaker 4>the head and the ass, and they separate and sit
<v Speaker 4>on the other side of the of the wedding. Then
<v Speaker 4>we have his so Krusty's dad is the rabbi he
<v Speaker 4>hid at the wedding, says the wedding between the Jew
<v Speaker 4>and the Congregationalist. That's a real thing, as he says,
<v Speaker 4>But the whole thing seems to be that we don't
<v Speaker 4>see him say this, but like, Krusty's dad doesn't approve
<v Speaker 4>of this wedding, but it's like, let's continue with this
<v Speaker 4>mockery and then they dance and happy when their wedding
<v Speaker 4>doesn't work and things that. Yeah, but Bart has now
<v Speaker 4>got rid of teeny. He's now going to be the
<v Speaker 4>ring boy. And he introduces Holy Hippie, who was his
<v Speaker 4>first wife. He wouldn't let her watch the moon landing
<v Speaker 4>because he was jealous of Armstrong. And he shows the
<v Speaker 4>last wife, which is Eartha Kit and she recorded this
<v Speaker 4>before her untommely death. And oh, they actually say that
<v Speaker 4>on this on the episode, don't they. Yeah, she records
<v Speaker 4>before her untimely death. Yeah, because that's obviously happened in
<v Speaker 4>real life. So maybe they had to reference that in
<v Speaker 4>the episodes of viewers going, hey, isn't she gone? Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>so they only married six hours and he was asleep
<v Speaker 4>four five. Maybe they had to do that if I'm
<v Speaker 4>thinking because she'd passed away, they couldn't have her appearance.
<v Speaker 2>They had to be a pre recorded message.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, who knows. They only married six hours. For five
<v Speaker 4>of those hours he was asleep and the other hour
<v Speaker 4>was a catastrophe. And because she us catwoman and then
<v Speaker 4>Princess Penelope is blown away by how little this bothers her,
<v Speaker 4>and Chrusty says, look, unfortunately, we can't get married. The
<v Speaker 4>kid and his little ugly sister are right referencing Millhouse.
<v Speaker 4>He says he can't disappoint her, even though she doesn't
<v Speaker 4>care about He's bowling ali shoe spray addiction and things
<v Speaker 4>like that, and he says she's the only one that
<v Speaker 4>he cares enough about to leave at the altar, and
<v Speaker 4>she says, we'll always have sidecho Mel's dressing room and
<v Speaker 4>Nobody's dance because of the whening's are happening. And that's
<v Speaker 4>the end of the wedding. Yeah, cuts to Penelope now
<v Speaker 4>singing Moon River in France to Tintin and the company.
<v Speaker 4>The other character's name, that's Captain Haddock.
<v Speaker 2>That's it. Yep, she is on a bridge, by the way,
<v Speaker 2>Blieve Tintin is actually Belgium, not French.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, she's watching a boat go under the bridge as
<v Speaker 4>she's standing.
<v Speaker 2>On and don't check that in case Tintin fans come for.
<v Speaker 4>Me, and she sees a pretty weird mistake to make.
<v Speaker 4>She sees Christy Krusty in the reflection on the bridge.
<v Speaker 4>She thinks he's next to her, but no, it turns
<v Speaker 4>out he's actually under the water. He comes up, he
<v Speaker 4>fell off the boat, and he says he would rather
<v Speaker 4>be a happy schnook than a noble shlump, and they
<v Speaker 4>float away together as the unicorn goes past the moon,
<v Speaker 4>thanking us for twenty years of loves and the best
<v Speaker 4>are yet to come.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, I enjoyed this one.
<v Speaker 4>It's not the best episode. I wouldn't say it's like
<v Speaker 4>five most essential ones either. I really enjoyed it, though,
<v Speaker 4>but there's definitely two better episodes within this if they
<v Speaker 4>chose to go down that avenue.
<v Speaker 2>I'm going to dial back some of my initial vitriol. Man,
<v Speaker 2>I was angry, but maybe I was angry. Maybe I
<v Speaker 2>needed a snickers. Yeah, I'm feeling a bit better now,
<v Speaker 2>I'm feeling a little more mellow. I said, Look, this
<v Speaker 2>is still faulty You're like, I fucking hated it. It's
<v Speaker 2>faulty in conception and execution. It's got some okay bits
<v Speaker 2>in it. It could have been so much better to
<v Speaker 2>quote my frustrating part when you know they could be better. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>to quote my parents. I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, we said that's quote. Asking this podcast later, what
<v Speaker 4>do we learn? What did you learn from this episode?
<v Speaker 4>Mister Davis that my couple name is glue Guy and
<v Speaker 4>lou Oh what.
<v Speaker 2>Would mind be?
<v Speaker 4>We'll talk about this, Nicola the other day because we're
<v Speaker 4>talking about what would your your porn star name be?
<v Speaker 4>Because it's like your your first pet and your first
<v Speaker 4>street name. So mine would be Max Donnelly. What would
<v Speaker 4>yours be?
<v Speaker 2>El Toro read Oh man, that's happening sol on podcasting.
<v Speaker 2>Hello adult material only fans. Yes, did you have a pet? Bull?
<v Speaker 2>We we had a little black cat, not unlike my
<v Speaker 2>current cat, Beasie and my sister and Duena named him
<v Speaker 2>after a tequila bottle that she had in her Really.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, yeah, you remember El Toro Tequila.
<v Speaker 2>It has a little sombrero. Very culturally insensitive.
<v Speaker 4>Welcome to the seventies, eighties, nineties.
<v Speaker 2>What a time to be like. By the way, Tintin fans,
<v Speaker 2>Tintin is Belgian, not French. I hope somebody got fired
<v Speaker 2>for that blunder. What a weird mistate to make. Well
<v Speaker 2>Belgian France, it's well, pretty much the same thing, is it.
<v Speaker 2>They're neighbors, I think.
<v Speaker 4>And don't you telling me I'm terrible with geography.
<v Speaker 2>My understanding, there will be no geography from this day forward.
<v Speaker 4>Your name will be It is time for the Guy
