Peter Burns is going to be the guest. 00:01:24 Speaker 3: Host tomorrow, my old buddy, Peter Burns. 00:01:25 Speaker 4: How about that? So Peter Burns will take his swing at the chair there? 00:01:31 Speaker 5: How about that? 00:01:31 Speaker 6: It's a big upgrade. Congratulations, But are you all gonna play ball? 00:01:34 Speaker 4: Up grade? Not an upgrade, but it's one of the reasons I'm bringing me in is to brad him about playing pickleball. And yeah, I've never hosted a show with Peter. Shannon actually has, haven't you a couple of times? Right? 00:01:47 Speaker 2: Yeah, I think at least twice over the summer's summer shows that he's filled in for you. 00:01:53 Speaker 4: So I'm looking forward to that. He you know, he met with will Stein. That's all the scoop he can tell us about that. He knows the se and he's well dressed. So he's gonna he's gonna be at his house. I believe he lives I think he lives in Charlotte where the SEC network is and uh so, yeah, that should be a fun while you're out. How often do you have to go to the doctor after our baby? Is it like it's like every week? No? 00:02:18 Speaker 6: No, not that often. This is this one's a unique one. It's you have one like right after they're born and then you get a little time. But we've had this on the schedule for a while. 00:02:24 Speaker 4: It's crazy to me, I mean we we I've talked about this before, but it's crazy to me how they just give you a baby and then they're like, yeah, figure it out. Yeah, here you go. I mean, there's nothing in society of substance you can buy where you have where you have less hoops than just having a baby. You buy a car, you gotta go register it, you gotta get insurance. We registered our baby. She has a number number like everyone. Yeah, but she didn't have to like go to the d MV own who dropped her off. You got that figure out. It sounds like a huge responsibility that you just give to people with no training, I mean no training. Think about what you have to do to drive a car. I don't know, do you have to tell you don't have I guess you don't have to do more to drive a forklift. Really little things you gotta get permits a hairstylish training baby, or to be a hairstylist, and who cares about that? 00:03:24 Speaker 5: But then be in with the baby. You can be anybody and they just. 00:03:27 Speaker 6: Let you go home with it after a couple of days, like there you go, you get a love. 00:03:30 Speaker 5: You go, no standards, just take it. Good luck. They don't even say good luck. There's like get out of here. 00:03:36 Speaker 4: So they have a good baby. Yeah. 00:03:38 Speaker 5: So and then do people. 00:03:41 Speaker 4: Do people come around after a couple of months to make sure you know what you're doing. 00:03:44 Speaker 3: I don't think anybody checks up on you. 00:03:46 Speaker 4: The checks and I get it, but not really. 00:03:50 Speaker 3: Baby, you're doing pretty good. It's still alive. 00:03:52 Speaker 4: But if it's well, there's two choices. If it's alive, you're doing good. If it's not, you're going to prison. There's no ground. It's it's a big risk you take on. 00:04:04 Speaker 5: They don't know what you're doing. Kind of good. 00:04:05 Speaker 3: Yeah, so Drew, don't forget to check the back seat check. 00:04:10 Speaker 4: That lives in my head now that I drive round. 00:04:14 Speaker 6: Yet last night we left we left mom at home and me and baby went for a cruise to go pick up dinner and check the back seat just plays in my head. 00:04:21 Speaker 4: Well, it would be bad if just you and the baby went out and you forgot it. Yeah. 00:04:25 Speaker 6: I still still understand how that happens, but I am reminding myself every mile is the baby back there? 00:04:31 Speaker 4: Well, but I did, They're only It's it's like Yale Law school pass fail, no grades with the kid pass fail. I think I'm passing so far. All right, well. 00:04:42 Speaker 5: Seems like it so uh, well good, I'm glad that's going well. 00:04:46 Speaker 4: Uh. We want to update our co about our co host Ryan because uh I talked with with his girlfriend some yesterday and she wanted me to pass this along. So Ryan has been Uh he was in the hospital and had a surgery on Monday. The recovery has not kind of gone necessarily how everybody'd like. He's had some complications and he is still in the hospital and has been you know now, I think he actually left for a little bit and then had to come back. So he's been in now over a week. Is still there now, he is getting things are starting to get better. But I would say, as I said a week ago, everybody just keep writing your prayers. This has been a tough, tough week for you. He's had to deal with a lot of stuff. He's he's you know, he's been in a lot of pain, and so this has been this has been hard, harder than we hoped. I think his prognosis is still positive. But everybody just think, you know, he's the nicest guy in the world. All of you know that. And we're hoping that things continue to improve as they have in the last twenty four hours or so, and that hopefully he will be released Drew in the near future. 00:06:06 Speaker 6: Yeah, thinking of Ryan, We've even got a few messages back lately. Even though he's going through some stuff, still that personality is still coming out and he still responds like a child. 00:06:14 Speaker 5: He's still there. 00:06:15 Speaker 4: The first text he sent me was very childish, which is which which was actually a good sign. I also sort of want to pass on. They wanted to kind of even pass on a message too. There's a lot of people listening here who you know him, not just through the radio, but know him personally, and sort of he you know, I think, as I said last time, they don't they're asking people not to reach out, but he I sort of say when people reach out to me, But when he gets home, then I think it becomes different and you and people can but just for right now, just kind of let him be. He feels everybody's love, and so, yeah, I wanted to update people on that now. I think it may. It'll probably be longer than Memorial Day when he returns. So we're gonna be holding down the fort. And part of what we're gonna try to do is bring in some folks to sit with us. Peter goes Tuesday. Next Tuesday. It's gonna be myron to do it with us, and I'm sure there'll be others as we go along the way. Drew, But you and I this is like old school podcast days. It's just me and you and this dude named Shannon ready to rock. 00:07:24 Speaker 6: Heck yeah, I even said last week to Heaby and then you know, I wish Ryan were here. But I don't know if we got goofyre without him. But I had a lot of fun last week. I always had fun, but for some reason it felt a little more fun than I usuletely agree with you. 00:07:37 Speaker 4: For whatever reason last week, whether it was Shannon's meanness first talking about the words like I had a lot of fun. And you know, I think in part because things have kind of been negative and and sort of bummery with basketball, just being able to have some fun was good, which gets me to one to what I want to talk about. To start here, a couple of non Kentucky sport events for a second. Okay, all right, so I want to talk first about did you watch the Preakness? I did the Pregnans Race. I turned it on right as they were Did you watch the Preakness. 00:08:11 Speaker 3: Shannon, No, I didn't. 00:08:15 Speaker 4: I got up early and I went for like a long walk. So when I got home, you know when you walk too many steps, I was like at seventeen thousand, Oh wow, seventeen thousand. And it started getting hot, very hot as the day went on. So I just came home and just collapsed on the on the sofa. And you know, the Preakness like all these right, they'd go all day, right, I mean, so I watched and the fourteen horses in it, I think I learned everything about them, like what books they read, the places they visited. I mean, they they had time to tell everything, right, And I listened to all of it. And it was at Laurel Park, which no offense to Laurel Park. That looks like they just put that together last week. What a different broadcast than the Derby. I get that, Patt. It's not the Pimlico's nice. Anybody that's been to Pimlico it's not nice at all. But Laurel Park looked like they just were like, hey, we got a race here in three weeks, wee going and there was no one there. There were like one hundred people there, so anyway that it was different. But here's why I wanted to bring up. When the race was over, Shannon, I think the horse that won was forget Napoleon Solo. Napoleon Solo, okay, And when it was over, the trainer that won he he wins, and I, you know, he was like one of the few people they hadn't talked about, so I really didn't know much about him. 00:09:43 Speaker 5: He's celebrating and he's going. 00:09:47 Speaker 4: Horse like, he's yelling and pointing at people and everybody's everybody's excited. And then they do an interview with it, and I found the interview funny because he goes. 00:09:58 Speaker 5: This win is to show all the haters out there that have been. 00:10:02 Speaker 4: Saying we couldn't do it. 00:10:04 Speaker 5: We'll take that haters. We did it. 00:10:08 Speaker 4: And I was thinking, this is some random trainer that I have never heard of. Sidebit stout, as my grandma would say, never heard that. That should have been on the list last week. Side bit stout, big dude. And he's out there yelling Shen and this is for all the haters. And I was thinking, who are these haters? Like, who who could he possibly be talking about? Or isn't the case that we just it's human nature that we just decide we have haters. So then that night I got on Facebook for like the first time in a month, and they're having the election, you know, elections or Tuesday, And in my home county of Bell County, there seems to. 00:10:55 Speaker 5: Be a big election going on the county judge executive. 00:11:00 Speaker 4: Oh wow, exciting and it seems to be focused on whether or not the ambulances get to people's house quick enough. Okay, that's important, it should be a priority, yes, And one of the candidates was posting a video about ambulances and I get in the comments section and Shannon, it's all about. 00:11:17 Speaker 5: People be hating. 00:11:19 Speaker 4: Everybody's hating, like everybody is using the phrase that people are hating in Bell County about ambulance service. So I guess I was just thinking the prenous trainer i'd never heard of talking about his haters ambulance service in Bell County and their haters. Is that just something everybody just decides they have haters? Yeah? 00:11:41 Speaker 3: Or is it just we're not in that world, so we don't know. 00:11:44 Speaker 5: Previous trainer actually has haters. 00:11:47 Speaker 3: That probably saw I'm probably a small. 00:11:49 Speaker 5: But who are they are out there? 00:11:51 Speaker 4: Who you'd think he's talking to other trainers who didn't think he could train. 00:11:57 Speaker 2: Just like college basketball, college football, there's which is who have but they always say it. 00:12:02 Speaker 4: And I never hear them like people go, oh yeah, nobody thought wake Forest could do this. 00:12:07 Speaker 5: No, no one thinks about wake Forest. 00:12:09 Speaker 4: I didn't have one single thought about had a thought about wake Forest ever. I just when I heard this guy, I was like, this is your national platform, right, this is your chance, and you're sitting there yelling about haters. 00:12:22 Speaker 6: I liked in the interview, she warned him, we can't censor you again. I guess he had cussed before the race. She started before and she started, She's like, we're alive by the way, so can't don't buddy, actually can change that. 00:12:32 Speaker 5: I was a hater. Dude, you're on. You can't be you can't act like you're in a poker room. 00:12:38 Speaker 4: You're on the Preakness. 00:12:39 Speaker 6: But could he have used some hating motivation for the horse, like letting it know like everyone out here is doubting you. No one believes in you, Napoleon Solo. We know a lot of people, even like John Cali Perry needs that fuel. No, yes, create a hater, even if it's an ambulance. You got to create some I. 00:12:55 Speaker 4: Have a little bit of that. When someone tells me I can't do something, I want to do it. But I also think like they're a relative. They are relative to degrees of this. And I watched two major events, the Bell County Judge Executives Race and the Preakness, and then these moments of celebration. People just want to sit there and say eat it, haters, rather than I love my family. Thank god, they got the worst the jockey, the horse. No one ever, by the way, thanks the horse. They never think the horse. They never think the person that's actually the thing that's actually out here running. They never think that well, I. 00:13:37 Speaker 6: Wasn't thinking him because I lost fifty bucks on him. But I don't know if many people were hating on Napoleon Solo going into that. Yeah, maybe some Preakness haters, but not the horse. 00:13:45 Speaker 5: And he's already skipping to Belmont Shain. 00:13:47 Speaker 4: Of course it's all be hater. Yeah, I we're skipping to Belmont. It's not our kind of race. Stop it. I'm more in this Middlesborough race. I got a lot, and I know both people, and it's it's Albie Brock versus Rick Wilson, and and I like both of them. They very nice to me over the years. And it seems to be the race is breaking down, and how long does it take ambulances to get to people's house. 00:14:14 Speaker 5: Or one of them holding one of them. 00:14:17 Speaker 4: Is in charge of the ambulances and the other one is saying you take too long. 00:14:22 Speaker 3: To get the saying is too long? How long should it take an amulance? 00:14:26 Speaker 4: I don't know, maybe someone in bell Caddy, but like this said, one of them is like, you're the ambulances take forever and he's like, no, our ambulances are fast. 00:14:35 Speaker 6: So one of them is not like parking in front of ambulances and slowing them down abulances because I would definitely vote for the pro ambulance candidate if I were there. 00:14:44 Speaker 4: But it seems to be they post Facebook videos. I went to one of them's feet. It's like every night and the topic is always ambulances. It's a one it's a one race issue race that affects everyone. I agree. We'll be down there Thursday. We'll get to see what there. Wait, I'm gonna time them. We're gonna get to the bottom of this. A five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven TEXTA with Sheid is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. We will take a break and be right Back's Cassler, welcome back, take you sports Radio. I said it wrong. It's Rick Nelson, not Rick Wilson. So it's Albi Brock Rick Nelson for the Battle of the Ambulances. 00:15:25 Speaker 6: Rick Wilson is somebody though, right, that's a name, and is is that Beach Boys Shannon Rick Wilson. 00:15:31 Speaker 3: No, I don't know. Brian Wilson. 00:15:35 Speaker 4: Brian Wilson, all right, Well tell Rick. 00:15:37 Speaker 3: We said hello, Well there's a Rick Nilson. 00:15:40 Speaker 4: There it is. Well, and now there's a Rick Nelson, and they're all going for Bell County Judge Executive one bird. Okay, here's a good question. My wife is a paramedic in Madison County. They have a rule about how quickly they have to be from call to en route. 00:15:56 Speaker 5: So take a guess he's got the answer. 00:15:58 Speaker 4: There's one rule for between nine am and nine pm, and one rule for nine pm to nine am. What would you say is the minimum when you have to be en route from when the call is received to you are on the way. 00:16:13 Speaker 6: I would say the moment the phone hangs up, you've got your details, three minutes to be in the car. 00:16:19 Speaker 5: Three minutes. 00:16:19 Speaker 2: I think it's gotta be quicker than that. I'm gonna save sixty seconds. You get one minute. 00:16:23 Speaker 3: You gotta be ready to get with that. 00:16:24 Speaker 4: The Madison County it is two minutes. We split it from nine to nine pm. 00:16:31 Speaker 5: But five minutes from nine pm to nine eight. 00:16:33 Speaker 3: That's too long. 00:16:34 Speaker 2: I'm over here choking on a hot dog, and I gotta wait five minutes for you either get here. 00:16:37 Speaker 3: I'm dead. 00:16:38 Speaker 5: No more than five minutes. You gotta wait five minutes to get come on, Yeah, you're five minutes, and then you gotta get. 00:16:43 Speaker 4: There shorter staffed at night in Bell County, it's forty three minutes. I have no IDEA eighty two eighty cent report comes out this weekend that Jamal Crawford is still consider whether or not to join Kentucky basketball as an assistant coach. He told Jack Pilgrim and Jacob Polochek he's had a job offer for six weeks and he's waiting kind of till the end of the playoffs or the end of his playoff responsibilities to decide, which I believe have just ended. So what do you think? I mean? 00:17:23 Speaker 6: I love that the Hope is still alive. That would be a great hire for many reasons. I really want it to happen. 00:17:28 Speaker 4: But that's not true. He's got one more round, but go ahead at the conference finals. Yeah, at this point, you really need to get it done or it's kind of like Stokes. It seems like you're all in on one person, and you know, if you miss him, waste a lot of time, probably missed out on other candidates. But I love hearing that the Hope is still alive because I think that would be huge for recruiting. Obviously, we all know the name and what he means he's got a son who's a top ranked player a couple classes down the road. 00:17:50 Speaker 6: So I hope they can pull it off. But at the same time, it's like this keeps going on and on. Then you've missed out on a lot of other candidates. 00:17:56 Speaker 5: Well, they must think they have a chance at him, or why would you wait? 00:17:59 Speaker 4: Now you do? Like you said, the negative of this would be Shannon, Now you miss another one who's available in you know, June, i'd see somebody's looking for a job. 00:18:11 Speaker 6: But is it would have been one of the times I don't know, hopefully gets done. 00:18:14 Speaker 4: I think it's a positive that he's still considering. 00:18:16 Speaker 5: It's a positive Shannon. He might just want to get his paycheck through the end of the playoffs. 00:18:20 Speaker 3: Right, That's right? 00:18:20 Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, would you leave a job in broadcasting to come over and be a code Well, I don't know. 00:18:26 Speaker 4: It depends on what you're paying. So, like I was trying to think, what do I think Jamal Crawford is making as a broadcaster. I'm just gonna guess for the amount of work he does, which is not a ton I'm just gonna guess. I have no IDEA half million dollars maybe. I mean, he's not a huge name, so I don't think he's getting paid absurd amounts of money. I could see them offering him a million dollars to be an assistant at Kentucky. 00:18:56 Speaker 3: Yeah, that would be enough to entire t I mean, he probably. 00:18:58 Speaker 5: Has a lot of money from his NBA days. 00:19:01 Speaker 4: It's a big time commitment. 00:19:03 Speaker 5: And it's a but it's a big time you're retired. 00:19:06 Speaker 4: Where Jamal Crawford lives, But he probably lives in the city that he wants to live in. He's out west. He's a West Coast. He lives in Seattle. So now you're gonna have to come and live in a different place where you don't know anybody. So I think you just have to decide do you want to be a coach or not. If you want to be a coach, becoming an assistant coach at Kentucky's going to be a great start for that past. But if you're not sure if you want to become a coach, you got a pretty good gig. And the thing about that gig at NBC is he got that because he just got out of league, et cetera. In a few years, like there'll be another Jamal Crawford, you know what I mean, There'll be another former player that's ready. The thing about former players in broadcasting, they get like a three or four year window and if they're good at it, then they can do it for the rest of their life. But if they're not great, they cycle through and then they try a new set of guys. Like so when you turn on ESPN, like dan or Lavsky and some of those guys have cycled through and made it. But there have been a lot of people that just come and then they go after a year or two. They're just I mean, we want Some of them are people we know, Like it's one Walker had a gig, right, Tony Dell had a gig. Like a lot of guys get a chance and it doesn't work, and then they pick somebody younger. So if you're Jamal Crawford, you want to do broadcasting, this is your one chance. So I could see what it'd be a hard decision. 00:20:29 Speaker 6: Yeah, he's mentioned he's interested in coaching. I don't know how interested. I can only imagine how much money's it's got to be over one hundred million in his career, So I don't know that the pay will be an ultimate deciding factor. But his son, I think his class of twenty twenty nine, maybe he wants to be on a coaching staff with a son on down the road and getting the foot in the door at Kentucky would be a great place. But really it's does a guy that played twenty years in the NBA and just got done playing is probably having fun broadcasting. I mean, being an assistant coach is a huge commitment up for that, But I love that he's considering it. 00:20:59 Speaker 4: And you see that in part by this weekend, Mark Pope is at one of the The high school recruiting circuit kind of started with glee this weekend. 00:21:08 Speaker 5: All the coaches were where was it? Memphis? Memphis? 00:21:11 Speaker 4: And you saw all weekend and if you want to know who Kentucky was recruiting. KSR has a ton of stuff from the event, interviews, et cetera. Shannon, I have found myself as I get older, I can't follow the recruiting. 00:21:27 Speaker 3: Oh I've been like that for a while. 00:21:29 Speaker 4: It's just I just can't, Like, like they talk to everybody and I'm like, Okay, tell me which one is about to commit? Right? 00:21:37 Speaker 2: You learn all these names and then they go somewhere else and then you have to forget the name because it's not significant. 00:21:43 Speaker 4: Age out of recruiting like I used to. I mean, I used to be the one going to those events. But do you age out of it? Do you? I mean, even as a fan, I kind of feel like young fans really follow recruiting like hard, and then older fans are like, okay, just tell me when we're about to get a guy or not. 00:22:03 Speaker 5: Do you agree with that? 00:22:04 Speaker 4: Now there's a little bit of that. 00:22:05 Speaker 6: And now with Pope, with cal it was like five dudes, we were watching Pope cast a very wide nett. 00:22:11 Speaker 4: True. 00:22:11 Speaker 6: So if you are locked in, it's a little harder to follow what Kentucky's doing now than it was a few years ago, where you just take the top ten and see which we're going after. Now, you know, what, was it fourteen out of twenty visited last cycle. It's just a lot more to keep up with. 00:22:24 Speaker 4: It's funny, since I've been doing this, I've seen two cycles. There was the end of Tubby and Billy, where all of a sudden, just names fell from the sky and you'd be like, here's a dude with a bunch of Roses, and there's Tyrone Nash who's that maybe he Oh we have a charae Thomas Bernard Kote. Like names just kind of fell, and now it feels like we're kind of like that with European players. Oh yeah, all of a sudden, I'll just here, Well here's a guy from Bolivia and you're like, oh, glib Firsov from Yesh. Yeah, he's got another bitch. I like a good bitch. So I just it was interesting. I've seen that this weekend. We'll take your calls me right back. Can't sorry. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them pay. 00:23:08 Speaker 2: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:12 Speaker 3: Here's Matt Jones. 00:23:14 Speaker 4: Chan. 00:23:14 Speaker 5: Do you like the Avian Brothers. 00:23:17 Speaker 3: I don't really. 00:23:17 Speaker 2: Listen to them a whole lot, but what I've heard of them were from them, I like. 00:23:22 Speaker 4: Yeah, I I listened to him a long time ago, and then really have it and then I've been on a kick in this particular their Tiny Desk concert I just discovered this weekend. I listened to on repeat. They listen they like sing old gospel. I think I should have liked them a lot more. 00:23:43 Speaker 2: Than I ever have, because I feel like sixteen years ago, it says he. 00:23:47 Speaker 4: It was that phase though, like when Mumford and Sons when everybody was playing a banjo. 00:23:51 Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, well you know what I mean. And Sons are coming to Bourbon and beyond. 00:23:55 Speaker 5: So if you like them, yeah, I want to see them. 00:23:57 Speaker 4: I want to see I like them too, But I've watched their tiny disk. It was really good. But it's from like twenty ten, so I'm not like breaking new ground. It was a long time. Those tiny dust shows are fun. There's a lot of good ones. There's a lot of them went crazy, but you know a ton of people have them, but they don't. 00:24:16 Speaker 5: I feel like, did they the only one I ever see? 00:24:18 Speaker 4: I see juvenile and I see dua lipa where she goes if you want it, maybe given to me. 00:24:25 Speaker 5: I've seen that a million times. 00:24:27 Speaker 6: I didn't realize they had been doing them so long. I remember them twenty Yeah, I remember them kind of blowing up during COVID. I think that's when I even knew it, first knew about him. 00:24:33 Speaker 4: Well, this one has a bajillion views, so you just people people like them. If I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. Uh real, cool, right, I'm gonna go to the phones a couple open lines if I'm nine two twenty two eighty seven. 00:24:48 Speaker 5: They did also have the PGA Championship. 00:24:50 Speaker 4: The guy that won, Uh, Shane is not a golfer, so I'll focus on you. Yes, he wears two gloves. Never seen a pro golf for wear two gloves before, have you? Tommy Ganey, they call him Tommy two gloves, Tommy two gloves, but he's the only other one. Two black gloves A hit Aaron I like it. But here's the thing. Everybody was Mocktinghm online for wearing two gloves. 00:25:17 Speaker 5: Why not? 00:25:18 Speaker 4: Why has golf developed where you don't wear two gloves? They wear two gloves in baseball, some of them do, Most people do, not all but most. 00:25:28 Speaker 6: For me, when I played golf in high school, I should have just because I didn't want the tan line on both hands. So really it's a good idea just to keep your hands. 00:25:35 Speaker 4: I mean, I wonder if we all have just developed to wear one glove, But no one ever really thinks about why, because again, baseball, you do the premise of a glove as you hold it in your is to like keep the club to your hands, but it doesn't slip. 00:25:51 Speaker 5: Well, why wouldn't you do that with both? 00:25:53 Speaker 4: Makes perfect sense? I guess it looked ridiculous. 00:25:56 Speaker 5: It did. 00:25:57 Speaker 4: Shannon looked like he was out to murder someone. 00:26:00 Speaker 3: Like he's about to dig a hole or something. 00:26:04 Speaker 4: Now I did see he had iron covers on, okay, And I've only known a couple of people in my life that put covers on their irons, and I thought they probably were psychopaths and murder people because no one has them. But then again, why not? Why has that developed to where? Like I've ought, why I don't wear covers on anything? Yeah, I've heard your driver banging against your three wood in the golf car. Why do we think it's necessary for woods to have covers but not irons? I don't know. 00:26:42 Speaker 6: Probably just the convenience you're but why not have just have none? If it were me, I would lose the iron covers every round. I'd be down at least two of them. I would too. 00:26:51 Speaker 4: Now, his reason for having him was he grew up in an immigrant family with very little money in England, and his dad saved up and bought him like really nice club Shannon as a kid, and he decided and his dad would clean them after every round. He would take them and clean them. And he was like, when I saw my dad doing that, I decided I wanted covers so it wouldn't be as hard for him to clean them. First of all, how sweet is that? And then I keep the covers on them to remember where I came from and to appreciate all that I'm given. First of all, how can you not love that guy? Yeah? Eat it Internet. When that came out, everybody's making fun of all making fun of him, and then they were like, oh, yeah, I do it to honor my dad because they're bakers. Like, okay, I'm sorry about that. My dad who spent every dollar to his name to bomb me a set of golf clubs. Fair enough, I'm sorry about that. But I thought about with both the glove and the iron covers. It looks ridiculous and everyone makes fun of it, But why is it ridiculous? 00:27:51 Speaker 5: Like when you really. 00:27:52 Speaker 4: Break it down, if you're worried about your club getting scratched, wouldn't you worry about your irons? 00:27:58 Speaker 6: It's actually probably a good thing to have for that reason. Scratching the clubs caf You put. 00:28:02 Speaker 4: The club to slip out of your hand. Why wouldn't you want to have it on both hands? Makes perfect sense. And with that it went back to he practiced like in the winter, in the cold England out and where it was from an England it was another sad story, like I was so cold when I was learning golf, I had to wear two gloves. Now here's the thing, Shannon, that's guaranteed. Yeah, Billy will have two gloves on at the scream. 00:28:22 Speaker 3: Oh, I guarantee it. Now he's. 00:28:25 Speaker 4: Iron cup Billy two gloves over here, He's going to you. I feel like Billy's going to emulate this guy. He'll do that without the sympathetic stories to go with it. I like the guy. I was a leader, full of huge names, all bunched up, and then some random guy goes and wins. I kind of like that. He also went to Chipotle after winning three points. What he's gonna do to celebrate and he goes. When I'm on the road, I like to treat myself to Chipotle. He's getting guawk adding the glock on this one. Maybe maybe double chicken, Like I like how you acted like road Chipotle's are better than Home Chipotle. He wasn't easy gott to root for him. I thought their internet was rude to him for a while, and then they call him brang off. 00:29:08 Speaker 2: Is that you know there's somebody that you never even heard of before that can win a championship. 00:29:11 Speaker 5: Yes, that's very cool. 00:29:13 Speaker 4: And he's uh, he's only the second British guy English guy to ever win. How about that Puddy made I mean, it's always looking like he was gonna win. The way to finish it? 00:29:22 Speaker 7: Ryan, go ahead, Ryan, hey man, I got something to throw at you. Hear about your mountain words. One of them, let me, I'm tack this this. 00:29:32 Speaker 4: Hang on a second. I'm gonna take this one. But we're we've done. We did that topic for a few days, so this will be the last one. But one of them is a Bible word. I think a lot of them are. We talked about that. A bunch of them have Bible roots. Uh. But remember they have Bible roots because they were translated in the King James. So they're basically still Scottish and British words. They translated usually the language of the time, but like that was those words weren't in the ancient Greek version. 00:30:00 Speaker 7: No, No, I'm just saying reckon is a Bible word. And then my second thing is I'm reading a book about the Revolutionary War, and when are all these politicians with their ads just gonna get down to dueling? 00:30:10 Speaker 4: Yeah? Well, first, I appreciate the case the ads you all did. You didn't get them, Drew Channing, You've gotten them in Louisville, the Thomas Massey ads, and then the guy running against him, who I think his name's Ed. I've never seen anything like it. I will say to those of you and the rest of the state. 00:30:32 Speaker 5: You remember how. 00:30:32 Speaker 4: Many ads we got with Amy McGrath and Mitch McConnell. You remember how many ads we got with Woke Nate Andandy bar this weekend in Louisville multiplied by a thousand. Wow, Thomas Massey and Ed whatever his name is. The game never stopped. 00:30:52 Speaker 2: Is that somebody is at gallery. I don't even know if that's a person. I just pulick. 00:30:55 Speaker 3: It's in my head from those answers. 00:30:57 Speaker 5: Those ads during the PGA Championship. 00:31:00 Speaker 4: Those ads ran two ads for each guy every commercial. I'm telling you, I've never seen anything like it. I think this is what happens when you have so much, when there's so much money spent on a race that like they don't even know where to spend it. They're just like throwing it at people. It's crazy. And I don't even live in that district, but it. 00:31:22 Speaker 5: Was on the Louisville TV market. 00:31:23 Speaker 6: See, I thought it was bad here with Andy, I did nothing. I didn't even watch the PGA Championship. I watched Andy barr ads with a couple of golf shots in between them. 00:31:31 Speaker 4: I can't even imagine, Shannon, what it's like in Cincinnati, where the actual thing is. 00:31:37 Speaker 3: Oh god, yeah, you can't imagine seeing. 00:31:39 Speaker 4: It because Louisville, only only a little part of the Louisville viewing area is in that district. But in Cincinnati, I mean, they must just walk down the street and hit you over the head with the ads. 00:31:51 Speaker 3: I'm glad it's all over after tomorrow. 00:31:53 Speaker 4: They say it's the most money spent on a house race in the history of America. In Northern Kentucky, Villa Hills and you know Carrollton. 00:32:05 Speaker 6: See when these politicians ask for donations, I want to be like, no, you have plenty. I see your commercials. You've got plenty. 00:32:10 Speaker 2: You have too much money, I know, like what your return on investment too, as somebody who donates to that, Like, are you really getting a good return on that? 00:32:17 Speaker 4: Of course not. So this is all just about. This is all just about. They were mad, they're mad at Massy about the Epstein files in Israel, and so they're just spending. But how is it possible that the most money ever spent on a house race is in northern Kentucky. It's crazy, MASSI gets them fired up. 00:32:39 Speaker 5: I can't believe it. 00:32:41 Speaker 4: This weekend I watched a lot of television because I wasn't doing anything. I could not believe how many ads it were. Jeff, go ahead, Jeff. 00:32:49 Speaker 8: Hey guys, I got two things as I can. The first, did you see the promo for the Eastern Conference Finals got leaked on ABC? 00:33:02 Speaker 4: Yeah? Before was over? Yeah? Oh no, that they leaked the day before the game, the day the game it was gonna be Nick Nick's calves and the and it was like the day before the game. 00:33:14 Speaker 5: So does that make you suspect on the result? 00:33:18 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:33:19 Speaker 8: And the Pistons played terrible and they're grinded out kind of team. It smelled it smelled off to me. 00:33:26 Speaker 4: I appreciate the call. Do you think Shandon's conspiracy theory? 00:33:30 Speaker 2: I like that as a conspiracy. I don't know if I believe it or not. But why would they. 00:33:34 Speaker 5: Have that promo like they already had it. 00:33:37 Speaker 3: They they had both of them, and they just only one of them leaked. 00:33:41 Speaker 5: I mean, I you know, I. 00:33:42 Speaker 2: Mean if if the wrong one leaked, you know, they said the Pistons it had moved on, then you know that would be made. 00:33:51 Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, But. 00:33:53 Speaker 5: It was weird they had it was fully done scripted. 00:33:57 Speaker 4: YEA. One person writes, Matt need a question from the group. The new John Travolta beret looks yeah your nay? Wow? How old is he? 00:34:46 Speaker 5: Like seventy four? 00:34:48 Speaker 4: What do you think? 00:34:49 Speaker 5: Have you seen it hitting? 00:34:50 Speaker 3: I'm looking at it right now. 00:34:52 Speaker 4: He gets off a plane. He's got a beret, shave, shaved head. It's the like Jim black Line weird for me? That stood out? What do we think? Is it too old too or can you just like you know what? 00:35:06 Speaker 3: Look, man, he's doctor Bolta. He can do whatever he wants to do. I'm alright with it. 00:35:10 Speaker 2: He is better than that hair piece it was wearing for years, So you like, I'm fine with it. 00:35:16 Speaker 3: Yeah, he looks like a painter. 00:35:19 Speaker 4: He does look like a painter. 00:35:20 Speaker 3: He's Picasso or something. 00:35:22 Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know. 00:35:23 Speaker 4: I feel like I feel like you get to a certain level of age that you just give it a shot. 00:35:29 Speaker 3: He doesn't look his age. 00:35:30 Speaker 2: I mean, I know there's a lot of work being that was done there face Yeah. 00:35:34 Speaker 5: Yeah, But I. 00:35:34 Speaker 6: Will say there's much worse in Hollywood that people have done to themselves. 00:35:38 Speaker 4: People were so fascinated by that. Was it because of the beret? 00:35:43 Speaker 6: Yeah, he kind of looks like a successful drug dealer a little bit. 00:35:50 Speaker 5: I agree with you. 00:35:51 Speaker 4: I don't know. 00:35:51 Speaker 5: I was fascinating And is that is that's not his wife? 00:35:54 Speaker 9: Is? 00:35:54 Speaker 4: I think the I think it was his daughter. I hope that's about it, because I mean she's got to be fifty years younger than him. 00:36:00 Speaker 6: Well, so whatever he's done to his skin like, he doesn't, he doesn't have the terrible facelifts that a lot of them have. They just look unrecognizable. Yeah, so he's got a good surgeon, the bereat whatever. 00:36:10 Speaker 4: Let him live. I think we should all put that on one day. That should be our look is that whole thing? One person writes, Mat If Jamal Crawford gets here, do you think he could fix Mark Pope's recruiting issues? Maybe? I don't know. I mean, if part of the goal is to kind of get guys that relate to current players, I would think Jamal Crawford, having just gotten out of the NBA, having a kid who's going to be a top ten recruit that's, you know, in high school, probably has a way to relate to those guys, maybe more effectively than Mark Fox and the staff we have. Yeah. 00:36:46 Speaker 6: I mean they were originally pursued him for Stokes and obviously that didn't time, that timeline didn't work out. But his son's number one in the twenty twenty nine class let alone. If you're just getting his son, that's pretty good there. And then just the name recognition. I mean, Moe Williams already brings that, but Crawford would bring even more. And I think they'd be a good combo. 00:37:02 Speaker 4: I mean you'd have not many schools, if any, would have a bigger one to two of name recognition of players than Jamal Crawford and Mo Williams. I mean that would be. 00:37:12 Speaker 6: Think how excited the dads would be, like, we're going to dinner with Joe Crawford. 00:37:15 Speaker 4: That's the thing people forget. Maybe Joe Crawford could go too, but Jamal Crawford and Williams. A lot of this is not even about the kids. It's about the dad. Oh definitely, the dads would be like right there, that's right, that's Jay Cross. Oh he played with them, bron Mo, Yeah, yeah, that's oh, we're taking that call exactly we're taking that visit, Joe, go ahead. 00:37:35 Speaker 9: Joe, Hey, Matt, is an idea for the summer, when you guys are filling that time. 00:37:42 Speaker 4: What do you think about it. 00:37:45 Speaker 9: On some of their own haters, real or perceived, because yeah, I think we all have a few haters. This fake is whatever that horse trader has. 00:37:53 Speaker 5: You broke up? Say what was your question again? 00:37:57 Speaker 9: What about a day during the summer where some of us callers get to take on some of our haters, real or perceived, because I think we all have a few of them in the books, right. 00:38:07 Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't I appreciate the call. 00:38:09 Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know how that would be. I did one time early in the show's history ask people to call in who hated the show. 00:38:18 Speaker 3: That's interesting though they were listening, they hate the show. 00:38:21 Speaker 4: Well, I mean I actually announced it in advance and I was like, if you have friends that don't like the show, call and have them explain why, and I will try to talk them into it. And this was very very early on. So most of the callers were Louisville fans because again we were on in Louisville and it was mostly like, you know, Kentucky I feel like if I did that now, a lot of it would be more like personal, just be like I don't like you or I don't like your to be political or something like that. 00:38:56 Speaker 5: But it would be interesting if you did that, Drew to see what people would say. 00:39:00 Speaker 6: I mean, now we just have Twitter where any random thing UK basketball post we can find ourselves mentioned in the comments. 00:39:05 Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't have to worry about finding people that dislike us. Now. We could run it back though, but that would be interesting. Maybe that's July or something like that. Nick, go ahead, Nick. 00:39:15 Speaker 7: What's up? 00:39:16 Speaker 5: Guys? 00:39:17 Speaker 10: Hey, I actually think there's a couple of things. But I think there's a correlation between Travolta and Rye. I think they can get away with what they're doing because they're famous, rise professional golfer. Nobody wears two gloves. Hey, it works for him, but he's famous. He gets away with he's professional and just want to major, so I can't criticize him. 00:39:32 Speaker 4: John, No, you're right here. The things you could do, there are things you can do whin you're famous, Like if if if one of our like if one of our sales people just came in dressed like Travalta, Right, Now if Brandon. 00:39:46 Speaker 5: Came in, we'd be all right, Brandon. 00:39:49 Speaker 3: Calm down wearing that. 00:39:52 Speaker 4: Yeah, you're exactly right there, there's a level of once you get to that level of fame, you can just do. Yeah, that's right. 00:39:58 Speaker 10: I think too with the glove, Matt your tennis player, man, so like I grew up playing golf competitively, and you want to you want a sense of feel. So the more gloves you add on, you lose some of that feel of the club. And so I think the same principal applies and tennis probably wouldn't wear glove because you want field the racket, so say applies there. 00:40:15 Speaker 4: But hey, I had a question. 00:40:16 Speaker 8: It was really about you guys. 00:40:17 Speaker 10: Conlready nailed it. I was I was gonna ask you all to comment on the coaching situation. Do you think we need asked with Crawford and uh Mo Williams decide do you think we need another coaching mind? And do we need an associate head coach who can help? That's that's what I want to hear. 00:40:32 Speaker 4: I mean, here's what I would say. When you hire Mark Pope and you put Mark Fox on staff, and I and and I like Mark Fox. I know Mark Fox better than I know Mark Pope, But I wouldn't say I know either of them well. But I think they're both very smart. They're both analytical basketball minds. I think Cody figures the same way. So you've just taken up three of your staff with X and O guys. That's right. Hang on second. If that's not enough, then you got the wrong guys. Right. If that's not enough, then these get Then then what are these guys on the staff for? If that's not enough, I mean, I'll go back to Cal's most successful staffs. Cal I think was a very good practice coach. He wasn't really an X and O guy. John Robick was right. John Roebick was an X and O guy. Orlando was kind of half recruiting, half coaching, right, and then Kenny was recruiting in players that worked. If you need four guys to be an X and O guy, then you got the wrong X and O guys. But I do think he needs recruiting guys, and I think I think whoever he gets next has to be in that mode. 00:41:50 Speaker 10: Yeah, well that's a good point. Honestly, Mo Williams, I think we're sleeping on the fact that Mo Williams was a Division one head coach. 00:41:55 Speaker 5: Too true. That's very true. 00:41:57 Speaker 10: This isn't something. This isn't some slump coming in. He as the recruiting shops. 00:42:01 Speaker 4: He's got the vibes. 00:42:01 Speaker 10: He also coached division one levels the head coach. Man, that's a great tick up. 00:42:05 Speaker 4: We'll love you. Crawford on the staff too, appreciate you call. That's another great point. I mean, Moe Williams. We think of him as a recruiting guy, but he coached, so yeah, I want to All I want is somebody who can relate. I don't care who it is, but like, can relate to these guys. Would you agree? Absolutely? That's been the weakness so far, certainly been the weakness, at least recently. EF. I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. We'll take a break, come back, KSR.
