I mean this year, I think he was at one point he was hitting like three seventy with runners in scoring position while his average was declining. He's playing through the hand wrist thing. Yoshi no Vyamamoto had complete games in back to back outings and then only went six innings and ninety six pitches in Game six. That helped the Dodgers pull off a dub and get to this Game seven and then oh he pops up again and pitches the Dodgers to victory. Incredible performance.

There's also been a lot of World Series.

We had obviously the eighteen inning game earlier in this series, but just focusing on how entertaining Game seven was and how resilient the Dodgers were they've been in these spots before. What about the managing job by Dave Roberts throughout this game. We could maybe point to show Hao Tani not looking like he had his secondary stuff and taking him out for someone else and maybe even going to glass now earlier in the game. But other than that, manager chess perfection.

So like you know that that it's a good hitting team, Like something was gonna happen, a run was gonna be scored. So uh, they put the guys after him, gave him a chance to win, and then they just warm them down, like you gotta we gotta also give like Max Munsey Pross for getting you savage there because two runs and one, the difference between those two and one in that situation is massive, and it was kind of like everyone's like, okay, he's okay, it's okay, but like no, it's a one run game. Now their pressure way up and that was that was huge. And he's another guy. He could go oh for fifty yet you'll still be like he could clip me in any moment, right Like that. That's the way they are. That's the way the Dodgers are. They all do. They do the little things right. They played defense well, they know where to be. They did the wheel play against the Phillies, like they just they're not gonna make mental mistakes. They they have the experience and they take that stuff for the seriously and coming back to MiG you row. That is one thing you can count on for him. He is gonna know what the situation is and what needs to happen, and maybe even some creative way to get it done that no one else is thinking about.

And I know there are more postseason games now than there were one hundred years ago, but we've been playing with some extra wildcard games for a bit. They weren't a wildcard team anyway. Look what Ernie Clement did from the Division Series on incredible, most hits ever in a single postseason, and that could have been the last one right there. One more knock that would have done it, and it would have turned the Yama Moto appearance into him giving that up a well struck baseball that I would have the World Series and World Series MVP for him, right Yeah.

Speaker 4: Whenever I think about somebody losing an MVP, I think about Mike Napoli in against the Cardinals. Mike Napoli would have won it had Nelson CRUs been able to catch that ball on right field to end the game. Mike Napoli would have had himself a nice Corvette or whatever they're giving out right now for the MVP, and the Rangers would have won their first World Series, the Blue Jays would have won. Blue Jays would have won their World Series here and Ernie Clement would have been the MVP. Like you sit there and you go, how one play can change like the entire course of a series, a season, a career for Ernie Clement. That's crazy.

And uh, you know you got to be the closer in the in the World Series is you got to still do the job there too, So it's you know, it's but it were one pitch away either way, right, it could be all smiles or the absolute devastating, most devastating loss. We saw the footage of Laddie with tears in his eyes, you know, going down into the tunnel and like up until you know, thirty or thirty seconds or a minute earlier, they thought they were gonna win, like they they believed it, truly believed it. They it was, it was solid in their head. And then it just was over and you look up like, oh, the game's over. Oh the season's over. We just go home now, and guess what we do that? And that's the that's that's baseball. Like seven months, seven and a half months, you get to the final and it's you just go home.

Speaker 1: Wow, man, look at the photo on the screen. That's the Dodgers celebrating. That's incredible. Incredible. Hey, pitchingmen's ballgames, Trevor. And the one thing that stood out with the Dodgers for sure, of course, was the starting staff that they assembled this year. And the big difference between this year's team and last year's team was the starting staff. I mean, they had four aces and they breezed through the NLCS against the Brewers. That was incredible, right, And they ran into some trouble against a Blue Jays team that clearly looked like the best team in the American League and gave a lot more trouble to LA. I mean, we went a very hearty full seven games. Last year. The Dodgers have an awesome bullpen and they utilized it as much as possible. There were even bullpen games in the World Series. This time around, it's a very different scenario and this might be part of the way to win back to back World Series titles. Basically, sweet, you're starting pitching and bringing new dudes besides Yamamoto, right, he's the only one from last year that carries on from a starting pitching perspective. Glass I didn't pitch last year and the World Series for the Dodgers. Snell wasn't there yet. Most teams didn't want him, and he pitches for the Dodgers.

Speaker 3: It was literally Yamamoto and Flaherty. They had two starting pitchers last year. Yeah, pretty much. Yeah, and then they just did openers. And but they had the best bullpen, so like they have one of they have the best of either one. But the one interesting thing, I think we were so surprised by the Brewer stuff because they just didn't have any bullpen at all, Like they only had they only had Sasaki, so like we're just, oh, if they can grind him down, then maybe they have a shot. And I think the Blue Jays are a better version of what the how the Brewers operated. And frankly, I think the Blue Jays probably had the best chance to take them down just because of the nature of their offense.

Like without that though without honestly, without a guy like Robleski, like stepping up a little bit in the last couple of games, like it could have been a difference.

Speaker 4: They just didn't quite get that hit. The bases loaded, ground out, bases loaded in, and the inning groundball double play at the end of game. There's a lot of spots and credit to credit to the pitching. Sometimes the whole runners of scoring position thing and the playoffs is a little overblown because you're not always like, oh man, we got to go ahead. We don't want any base runners like you do kind of pitch around some guys you make, you find like a week spot in the lineup, but the Jays really didn't have a week spot in the lineup. If you look at the batting averages, it hurts me. In twenty eighteen, we lost to the Dodgers and the MVP of that series for the Dodgers was Cody Bellinger, and he hit under two hundred. Like the Dodgers did not hit very well. The Blue Jays batting average is amazing. The Dodgers figured out a way to win because they got big hits in big situations. They out homered them in this in this game, so you win if you out homer a team and the big spots runners left, runners left on base, runners of scoring position. You can't you can't teach it, you can only practice.

I mean there were opportunities in Game six as well, but Game seven, man, there's a lot of spots that this Blue Jays team is going to look back at. John Schneider is going to look back at, and all of is going to look back at. We hadn't seen it title since nineteen ninety three. They got the full ride, the full experience from front to back. They won a division title, they got to buy They had an awesome playoff run, right, I mean, we saw a ridiculous alcs for them to get to this point and then they go all the way to the brink and come up empty. You got to appreciate the ride and enjoy it, but it still hurts really badly for anyone that cared about Toronto winning that series.

But like, yeah, it was just uncharacteristic too. They've been so good with runners of scoring position. They've been so good with just stringing hits together and putting up big, crooked numbers. They're the only team really in the in this postseason that that constantly was putting up four or five runs in innings, like everyone else is just scraping one or two with a two run homer or something. They were a different type of team, so it was uncharacteristic. But they faced you know, a bunch of Cy Youngs or future Cy Youngs in one game, and so like, you know, you can't what it's five for seventeen good enough probably, But like at Hindsight's twenty twenty, I just want like give give Sarah Langs and Kirkchin two days to comb through all the stats in this in these games, and I'm sure we're gonna get some crazy nuggets out there on Twitter.

There let's start there on the defense of this. TEAM i, mean this is a complete. Team this was an all out. Fight The American league had one team that was best and it Was toronto and they had a little bit of everything they.

Diamondbacks he's A Platinum glove winner in center field and he runs the, bases AND i think the team like kind of followed how he runs the. Bases he runs the bases like his like his feeder on. Fire AND i think everybody kind of encapsulated that they went out and they were, like now you know, What we're gonna go Get Anthony, santander who played zero part in This World series most of the. Season he was, hurt so the move that they made didn't even come into. Play so it's essentially the same. Team and then other guys started following. Suit they went out and Got Andre. Samenez Andre semenez played shortstop for this team in The World. Series he is A Platinum glove second baseman and he played. Shortstop so kudos to the front office for adding those. Guys Addison barger with an incredible throw one hundred mile an hour gun from right, field like they just they they found a way to win. Games that's a little bit outside the. Bubble did they win games because of the fact that they hit? Homers, yes score, runs, yes pitch. Yes but they're probably one of the, most if not the most complete teams In Major League. Baseball they're not top heavy in one area or. Another they don't have. ANYBODY i don't know If George springer would even be top three IN mvp, vote he'd be. Close but you don't have anybody like that that like you had to ride the entire season and it's a complete. Team team got them to this, point and it's gonna be tough to reload for next year again BECAUSE i don't know what's gonna happen With.
