<v Speaker 3>watched this until like the DVD era, and like I
<v Speaker 3>bought it on DVD, like when I really got into
<v Speaker 3>Arnold after finding Pumping Iron and I started watching all
<v Speaker 3>all his movies. Of course I knew what Terminator was,
<v Speaker 3>and especially Terminator two because it was everywhere. It was
<v Speaker 3>we'll talk about later, the action figures, it was all over,
<v Speaker 3>you know, video games. The merchandise was crazy. I just
<v Speaker 3>didn't see in the theater. Well, it was rated R,
<v Speaker 3>so like my parents were gonna take Maybe that's why too, Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>that's what I mean.
<v Speaker 1>One you guys were she shung as fuck six six.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah you're not going on R movie for sure.
<v Speaker 4>But this is just something you feel like maybe not

<v Speaker 2>that I was watching. Look, it's not like I asked
<v Speaker 2>my mom to watch it. But Okay, I know everything
<v Speaker 2>that my daughter watches. She's not watching something randomly that
<v Speaker 2>we don't know about. However, when I was.

<v Speaker 2>Yes, when I was a kid, that's not that's not
<v Speaker 2>the case. And I this was something that I certainly
<v Speaker 2>watched on my own. It definitely was on TV by
<v Speaker 2>ninety two, ninety three or whatever all the time, HBO.

<v Speaker 2>had a free cable box. So when I was on
<v Speaker 2>pay per view, and I a million percent watched this
<v Speaker 2>a number of times before I ever saw one.
<v Speaker 1>I actually was blown away by the gaps in between
<v Speaker 1>the sequels. True, it's a lot, yes, all them.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, the other ones are not good. I've seen most
<v Speaker 3>of them.

<v Speaker 2>La ravine. If you're in l A you drive by
<v Speaker 2>those fucking right, Yeah, drainage thingies that chase scene.
<v Speaker 4>In a fuck point break that chase and he jumps
<v Speaker 4>off of it. He hurts Johnny Utah hurts his leg.

<v Speaker 4>L point break. That's a movie I wish I had

<v Speaker 4>today gets action figures. Certainly not mainstream like Kitty Kitty

<v Speaker 3>Sometimes I feel like I didn't take advantage of it enough.
<v Speaker 3>But I was also so young when this came out.

<v Speaker 4>Toys about the John Connors just a kid they picked
<v Speaker 4>up off the fucking street.
<v Speaker 1>They were active day in his life. He never really
<v Speaker 1>did after No, he's in a bunch of shit. Well

<v Speaker 4>He actually had a I looked I was like, I
<v Speaker 4>watched them interviews and I'm like, man, this guy doesn't
<v Speaker 4>look too good. And I looked it up and he
<v Speaker 4>has had like a really bad run of like drugging,

<v Speaker 2>Right, and this is definitely his top.
<v Speaker 4>This is you know, like I said, this movie is beloved.
<v Speaker 4>It's like iconic. So yeah, he's thirteen.

<v Speaker 2>Oh the toys. I just had a quick thought, it's
<v Speaker 2>crazy that in like what Jurassic Park comes out in

<v Speaker 2>Okay, yeah, I remember there being stories about like how
<v Speaker 2>are how is this aimed to kids? And there's a
<v Speaker 2>death in the beginning, you know what I'm saying, Like
<v Speaker 2>there was that one they bite the lawyer on the thing,
<v Speaker 2>but like this getting some flak compared.
<v Speaker 1>To the earl throws a guy on the grill in
<v Speaker 1>the first fucking scene.
<v Speaker 2>It's pretty insane. The change of a couple of years.
<v Speaker 2>But back to that kid. I had a couple of
<v Speaker 2>thoughts on the kid. If I had to nippick anything
<v Speaker 2>about this film, it's I guess maybe some of his
<v Speaker 2>line deliveries, Like there's like I don't know if they
<v Speaker 2>had a problem with the audio mix.
<v Speaker 3>They definitely did because he was going through puberty and
<v Speaker 3>like grew, so most of his lines are redubbed after.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, so okay, that makes total sense. You can definitely
<v Speaker 2>hear his voice cracked too. But what I would say
<v Speaker 2>is they couldn't have been a more perfect pick for
<v Speaker 2>this character. Like he's a perfect like snot nosed, fucking
<v Speaker 2>you know, like nineties kid.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah about the kid from Salt Your Shorts is his
<v Speaker 4>butty bro but Nick bro fucking but that rock eat.
<v Speaker 4>I forgot about it. That part actually knew. But I
<v Speaker 4>don't think speaking of someone every did anything again. But
<v Speaker 4>Nick is basically never anything else again for sure.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, sure, man, But the the kid is is perfect
<v Speaker 2>in this role of somebody you're like at first, you're like,
<v Speaker 2>he's the one who's gonna save the world. But then
<v Speaker 2>like the character really progresses, you know obviously, like you know,
<v Speaker 2>he's taking care of his mom. Later he's telling you know,
<v Speaker 2>don't kill like these kind of things that that you know,
<v Speaker 2>he was just kind of a troubled kid and never
<v Speaker 2>really had anybody to connect to until he meets Arnold.
<v Speaker 4>That there's an altered ending where Sarah's like at a park, yes,
<v Speaker 4>and then he's there with his like daughter or son
<v Speaker 4>or whatever. It's like supposed to let you know that
<v Speaker 4>like the world was saved, and they.
<v Speaker 3>Screen tested it and decided not to go with that
<v Speaker 3>one so they can keep it more open ended. And
<v Speaker 3>if they were going to do sequels, which they did.
<v Speaker 4>Also another thing I read, I saw two conflicting things.
<v Speaker 4>I saw that Arnold didn't ask to be the babyface,
<v Speaker 4>and then I saw that he had to be convinced
<v Speaker 4>to be the baby face.
<v Speaker 1>So I don't know what's true about that. Not the director,
<v Speaker 1>because that was his vision.
<v Speaker 2>I feel like I've heard the story that he had
<v Speaker 2>to be convinced, or at least at first he was like,
<v Speaker 2>how can I be right?
<v Speaker 4>Which to me makes Arnold is think about that eighty
<v Speaker 4>four is the first one, ninety one he's full blown crazy,
<v Speaker 4>famous Arnold Schwarzenegger, Like, it makes perfect sense to flip
<v Speaker 4>them to the babyface.
<v Speaker 1>Right.
<v Speaker 3>Did you guys go back and watch the original trailer
<v Speaker 3>for this. It's a whole year before where it's just
<v Speaker 3>a terminator factory and they're like showing how they make Arnold.
<v Speaker 1>So it explained how.
<v Speaker 3>No, I didn't see that. Yeah, it's pretty cool. It's
<v Speaker 3>like that's a fucking teaser trailer a whole year before anything.
<v Speaker 3>You just see like the endoskeletons, like in the factory
<v Speaker 3>and kind of like the toy where they put the
<v Speaker 3>skin over him and it becomes Arnold. That's cool, and
<v Speaker 3>he says, I'll be back.
<v Speaker 1>To me. Isn't it like Terminator one?
<v Speaker 4>That's is just that line, right, I can't think of anything
<v Speaker 4>else that even like matters man.
<v Speaker 2>I have a soft spot for Terminator one. I think
<v Speaker 2>it's a it's a it's very similar to me, like
<v Speaker 2>how alien and aliens are first and a second where
<v Speaker 2>it really expands. The second one really expands.
<v Speaker 1>That's a good Yeah, that's a good analogy.
<v Speaker 2>It's very you know, it's very small. It's a smaller
<v Speaker 2>version of the story. I still like its a nice
<v Speaker 2>little love story. Linda Hamilton's character really changes, you know,
<v Speaker 2>she's damsel in distress in the first one, and the
<v Speaker 2>second one she's.
<v Speaker 1>The uh like I see and she's more cut than me.
<v Speaker 1>He's like mad about it.
<v Speaker 2>She was, she was cool in this movie.
<v Speaker 1>She got so lean that that James Cabra started dating
<v Speaker 1>the really yeah, that's truly and then then he cheated
<v Speaker 1>on her. God yeah yeah. Uh.
<v Speaker 2>One thing that I'm I think is unfortunate is that
<v Speaker 2>I watched this first and all the marketing going into it,
<v Speaker 2>I kind of knew that Arnold was the hero, right,
<v Speaker 2>I just knew it, so I was not swerved. But
<v Speaker 2>in later on in my life after watching one the
<v Speaker 2>whole first act of the movie until he says like
<v Speaker 2>get down.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you think he's the he you think he's.
<v Speaker 2>The bad guy, which I mean, if you went into
<v Speaker 2>this cold. I don't know if anybody actually got that
<v Speaker 2>because I'm the marketing, but if you go into this cold,
<v Speaker 2>it's a really interesting first act.
<v Speaker 1>What a swerve.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, that's a baby Face heard. That's why he shoots
<v Speaker 4>him in the leg too. He doesn't kill the guy
<v Speaker 4>in that one scene.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, and you know they make the guy be a cop,
<v Speaker 2>just as a cop kind of has similar tendencies where
<v Speaker 2>he talks more human like Kyle Reese from the first movie,
<v Speaker 2>because Kyle Reese was the good guy in the first movie.
<v Speaker 3>Originally it was gonna be Kyle Reese was the t
<v Speaker 3>like one thousand and then they realized it'd be way
<v Speaker 3>too confused to do a total flip flop of the
<v Speaker 3>hel and Babyface.
<v Speaker 4>Bro, it was gonna be billy idle. You know, I
<v Speaker 4>don't think this movie would be billy ile. I would
<v Speaker 4>see that. That's multiple things I watched, so but I
<v Speaker 4>don't think this movie would beloved.

<v Speaker 2>I love that it's just like a regular.
<v Speaker 1>Knowledge an injury and how to pull out.
<v Speaker 2>Oh man, this this guy was great. I mean he

<v Speaker 1>Hero finding role. But yes, he's been in a lot

<v Speaker 3>Now, there's so many different versions of it, like DVD versions,
<v Speaker 3>special editions that alternate ending.

<v Speaker 3>I watched the one that was on Amazon Primes. I

<v Speaker 4>Luckily it was free on my Verizon FiOS on demand.

<v Speaker 3>Like, I think there was definitely some extended scenes. Not
<v Speaker 3>that I've watched mine so often that I remember everything,
<v Speaker 3>But in the version that I watched, there's like a
<v Speaker 3>dream sequence with Sarah Connor and what's the guy's name
<v Speaker 3>in the first movie, Yeah, what's his name?
<v Speaker 1>He's cut entirely.
<v Speaker 3>Okay, so then I must have watched an extended version.
<v Speaker 3>There's like a dream sequence with them too in the hospital.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah that's cut. That's not in the theatrical version.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I've never seen that.
<v Speaker 3>And I also didn't realize it put two together that
<v Speaker 3>she's wearing like his jacket, like when they go and
<v Speaker 3>get all her supplies.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, I didn't know that.
<v Speaker 1>And she's wearing his his like trench coat from the
<v Speaker 1>first one. That's pretty cool.
<v Speaker 2>One thing that I thought was great in this film,
<v Speaker 2>and I don't know if they do it much nowadays.
<v Speaker 2>It certainly don't do it in action movies, but there's
<v Speaker 2>something about, like, you know, they killed a lot of people.
<v Speaker 2>You know, they're killing these cops or the guards, or
<v Speaker 2>people get shot or whatever. It all just seemed very serious,
<v Speaker 2>it all, it all, it all like it was effecting
<v Speaker 2>in the grand scheme of things like this, this is
<v Speaker 2>fucking brutal, this is crazy, or like when T one
<v Speaker 2>thousand kills the fucking guy the parent. I know, it's
<v Speaker 2>like gruesome deaths, but like you you feel like there's
<v Speaker 2>a ramification to it, or there there's a there's a
<v Speaker 2>you know, this is a real thing happening, that there's
<v Speaker 2>there's realquences, consequences. Yeah, that's what I'm trying to say.
<v Speaker 2>So I I just thought that they did that very well,
<v Speaker 2>even even when the guy who invented the terminators. When
<v Speaker 2>he got shot like that that looked brutal.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeahs that scene where he's like shaking and breathing up.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, it adds like a realism to it for sure.
<v Speaker 1>And there's kitty action figures.
<v Speaker 3>My god, Yeah, I mean, I do got to just
<v Speaker 3>talk about the the practical effects and like so much
<v Speaker 3>stuff just holds up. Yes, it's just unbelievable stuff that
<v Speaker 3>like now they would totally do on a screen or
<v Speaker 3>a CG like they were doing that like practical effects,
<v Speaker 3>and that's why I think a lot of those old
<v Speaker 3>school movies they still hold up when it's a good
<v Speaker 3>practical effect and almost timeless.
<v Speaker 2>When he walks from the back of the truck onto
<v Speaker 2>the other truck, you know, basically walks from car to
<v Speaker 2>car and then just fucking starts shooting, like him walking
<v Speaker 2>from one car to the other stunt. That's a yeah thing,
<v Speaker 2>not a CGI thing of somebody jumping out a window
<v Speaker 2>or something like that.
<v Speaker 4>Or like that first scene with you know, whether they
<v Speaker 4>I don't want to say he's born or whatever, but
<v Speaker 4>they're there between the two semis with the circle, yeah
<v Speaker 4>circle cutout that's two semis and then they get another
<v Speaker 4>one that's with the cutout and do that. Ah yeah,
<v Speaker 4>like Jesus, how expensive, Like this was a very expensive movie.
<v Speaker 1>I do wish they would have done in retrospect that
<v Speaker 1>a sequel to like T two instead of like the
<v Speaker 1>T T three that came out eventually, because it's just
<v Speaker 1>not the same, Like John Connor is not even it's
<v Speaker 1>even the same guy. I even if John Connor is
<v Speaker 1>in the third one, like if it was made in
<v Speaker 1>the nineties, it would probably feel better, right, like the
<v Speaker 1>T two three D it's perfect and that's all you get.

<v Speaker 2>My only ton on T three is that I remember
<v Speaker 2>being like, this is not as good, But I personally
<v Speaker 2>thought that they buttoned it up. Except I was like, right.
<v Speaker 4>All right, yeah, Broski, that ride only exists in Japan.
<v Speaker 4>Now it's gone everywhere now everywhere everywhere.

<v Speaker 2>Any any insight on why they got rid of it
<v Speaker 2>just isn't popular.
<v Speaker 3>Because it wasn't as popular. But I think it was
<v Speaker 3>at a point where they got rid of it. While
<v Speaker 3>it could have been considered outdated, if they waited a
<v Speaker 3>little longer, it would have been timeless.
