Kids family, please welcome Jacob Latimore. Jacob, thank you so much for coming. 00:00:28 Speaker 3: Thank you for having Finally, How are you feeling. I love you, c B two seats. 00:00:32 Speaker 1: Going to get you. You know, we like a little affordable, good price points right, comfortable, Yes, absolutely, thank you. How are you feeling? 00:00:41 Speaker 3: I feel good. I feel good. Just back home from filming The Shop for like eight months last year. So just enjoying home, you know, yeah, not leaving. 00:00:53 Speaker 2: Tell me about it. 00:00:53 Speaker 1: It's always fascinating because I'm in the Tyler Perry ecosystem and we shoot twenty two episodes in two weeks. 00:01:00 Speaker 2: Insane. And to hear you shooting for eight. 00:01:03 Speaker 1: Months that I feel like I would get bored, though. 00:01:06 Speaker 3: I be like, it's definitely it's definitely a process. Like we uh, I'm if I'm not on set. I'm just at home studying those lines. Yes, and then you know, in the gym or I don't know, doing something productive in between, but always staying on call cause you just never know. 00:01:23 Speaker 1: Even on your off days, you never know. If you bump something up, you gotta be. 00:01:26 Speaker 3: Ready this person then catch a flight or this person. Shit, you need to come in so we are ensemble. Yeah, so it's just like you gotta be ready. 00:01:35 Speaker 1: I love that show. It's so good. Shout out Lena and Luke James one of my really good friends. And I just did a movie two years ago with Burgundy. 00:01:42 Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Her birthday is today? 00:01:45 Speaker 1: Is it Happy birthday? B I know this would be after your birthday, but happy birthday Booth. Yeah, I love her. But yes, I love that show. But Jacob, you have been doing this since you were eight years old and you're twenty eight now, so most of your life. Yep, so you you got a lot of skin in the game. So I've only been doing this for like five or six years, So I need to kick your brain. 00:02:04 Speaker 3: No, you doing that. You're doing your thing. 00:02:06 Speaker 1: I'm trying, but I'm really proud of you. But how starting at a very young age. What has that journey been like to get to where you are now? 00:02:13 Speaker 3: It's definitely been a lot different. Like when I was eight years old, acting was something I wasn't even thinking about really, you know. Acting was like I believe I got a script handed to me. If like they were auditioning for like the local like Lion King play, and they hit me a script like yeah, they auditioned for simple little Jake, Like little Jake, Little Jake, when you should do this a little Jay, You'll be cold, little Ja as I've been walking you, Like, look you be cold, Little Ja. And I was like, nah, no, i'ma I'm on the porch, like really making decisions on that. I'm gonna do this music thing first, like eight years old, like and I'm like, I'm gonna do this music thing first, and then and then I get into acting, you know, with the door open whatever. So but then I moved a couple of years later and moved to Atlanta, still doing the music thing. And then I started finding other peers that were weren't overthinking it. They were doing music, they were doing film, they were hosting, they were you know, acting whatever, and it just I just opened my my mind up a little bit more and just got more comfortable and was like, you know what, I'm gonna do it, you know. And I found some acting classes and found out my first agency out here, shout out to Joy Purpose, and you know, she really believed in me and helped me get some really important projects that were pivotal and me learning on how to be on set and how to read scenes, and she would read those scenes with me too, like it was just dope. So that was real, real hands on agent and you don't get that a lot, you know. And she had like her own self tape room and I was doing that. So moving to Atlanta was really just an eye open experience and I just that's just like a testament. You gotta be in an environment where you can thrive. Yeah, you know what I mean, So you can You gotta be around other people that are doing things that inspire you and and make can you check yourself like, oh I'm overthinking I could do I ain't got a quit. 00:04:03 Speaker 1: Absolutely, don't botch yourself, you know what I mean, I could do that in it. 00:04:06 Speaker 3: So that's so Atlanta it was. It's always just been home for me ever since then we moved out here twenty, two thousand and eight. Okay, so I came year two thousand, two thousand eight, two thousand nine, soth like that. 00:04:19 Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, I came in two thousand and nine. I was in DC working on Capitol Hill. Wow, and I was like, I saw all my. 00:04:25 Speaker 2: Friends out here thriving. 00:04:26 Speaker 1: I'm like, if they can do it, I can do it. And like you, like, I wanted to do music like that was my thing and if acting, if if music opened the door for other things, I was open to it. Yeah, and then it kind of ended up being the reverse where acting end up opening the door for music. 00:04:39 Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's all it's all tied in now. So now, I mean a lot of musicians like bro, I wanna I wanna be up, yes, you know, And I'm like, man, you know you gotta you just gotta get in there, get into acting classes, like I really, I really paid my dues too with the acting, Like I really got in class. I really did improv training, yes, like I really like you know. But then also the on seting experience was just alone with nothing like class. You know, you're like tongue twisters. 00:05:05 Speaker 4: Yeah, rather leathery leather, leather, yellow leather like you get in there and sometimes sometimes shitty, like you could do all those things and learn these monologues, but nothing like that on set experience where they changing the lines right right, you know, we want to. 00:05:19 Speaker 3: Change this line right here and do this line. You got Will Smith looking at you like you can do it, and I'm like, You're like, yeah, like no, why are you changing my line all night? But it's it's just it's it's cool, and it's a part of the process, and it keeps us uncomfortable, you know, which is which is good for growth? 00:05:39 Speaker 1: Right absolutely. I wanted to ask you about working with Will. Will Smith is like everybody's icon, you know, in our north start, especially in music and acting. We just that's the place that we aim to go. What was it like working with him? 00:05:51 Speaker 3: I was, you know, I ain't gonna lie. I was actually I was fanned out. 00:05:55 Speaker 1: I can imagine. 00:05:56 Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I actually took a picture with him and then posted it online and I got an email from production saying, hey, you need to take that down. He's in costume. 00:06:06 Speaker 2: Almost lost a job like that, Jamie Fox. 00:06:09 Speaker 3: I learned a lot working with him and just watching him and uh, also just seeing how what it takes to be that level of a of a brand and a celebrity, like you know, he's just it was he was like we outside filming in New York and he's got to memorize his lines. But he got like screaming fans on the corner, and you know, no telling what he's dealing with in his personal life and all these things. So he's just you're just seeing it up close and you're like, WHOA, how famous do I want to be? You know? And and you're like, man, this is this is different level. Like he has to They got to roll him into the car like I was. 00:06:51 Speaker 5: I walked to see anybody about like Ja Jaden Smith, Jacob Yes, I'm like with. 00:07:01 Speaker 3: It whatever, and you know what I'm saying. So, but it was like they they had to roll him into set in the in the suv and real like let him out right world the cameras. Yeah, you know, so he just he had to move different in it. But he was all smiles and he has good energy about it. So I definitely learned how to bring good energy to work. 00:07:23 Speaker 1: Love that that's important. 00:07:24 Speaker 3: He shakes everybody's hand and I was like, that's what I'm gonna do you know when I when I'm gonna set it a shot, I always remind myself like I prayed to be here, you know, even though I'm tired today, I may not feel like it today, Like I'm gonna come to set and then come in and make up trailer, come into the to the to the hair trailer with energy and and and we it's a it's this is a good thing. 00:07:45 Speaker 1: It is we hear. 00:07:46 Speaker 3: This is a luxury, you know. 00:07:48 Speaker 1: And we're getting the best part of it as the actors, you know, and you have to be I worked on the other side as well. I was costume designer with Herman. Herman was my supervisor and understanding how tired they are as well, Like we're all exhausted, you know, because they're taking care of us and we're trying to deliver the lines and make the director happy. 00:08:05 Speaker 2: But it's everybody's pulling. 00:08:07 Speaker 3: Everybody's pulling. 00:08:08 Speaker 1: I love that you do that, and I love that Will was that. 00:08:10 Speaker 3: Example for you, absolutely. 00:08:12 Speaker 1: Because sometimes our icons aren't the nicest, you know, and you're like dang. 00:08:16 Speaker 3: Yep, You're like dang, I should have just mm hm, kept it, kept it, just kept its exact with that human you start to you start to give grace too, because you realize everybody, everybody doesn't want to be that light you know what I mean, That that that thing, you know what I mean. So it's like, hey, I don't want anybody to glorify me and be this, you know that they want to just come to set, be treated normal. And I give grace to a lot of actors and actresses I meet because you just never know, well, you know people are going through because we just were reading these scripts and we this is our lives and we gotta keep this facade. And we have fans who fall in love like with the shows that we're on because they're in We're in their households every day. 00:08:59 Speaker 1: Everybody feel like they made. 00:09:01 Speaker 3: Homies, Like you know you fans walk up to you like what's up, Hey yo, I'll be watching your show. 00:09:07 Speaker 2: You got the what happened for real? 00:09:09 Speaker 1: Right? 00:09:09 Speaker 3: So they really feel like we family to them, and you you never want to disappoint anybody in their experience, so it's like you're like, dang, like that's what I ask for. It is you can get a picture even though like I'm busted right now, I'm sleepy coming off the plane like whatever, like keep ball in the eye. 00:09:30 Speaker 1: Yes, it's so funny because there I was just talking about this actually with DaVinci about how we can we're human the first and foremost, but we can be having the worst day, but we always have to be on, you know, no matter what, because you want that moment with that fan to be the best moment. Because I know what it's like to meet somebody that I just adore and like, oh my gosh, I just love everything you do, and they were like completely mean. It's like, yeah, oh my goodness. 00:09:56 Speaker 3: You give a lot of yourself you do. It's tough. It's a tough balance. And I'm at the point now if I know I'm not in the greatest mood, I just stay home. 00:10:05 Speaker 1: That's smart. 00:10:06 Speaker 3: Just stay hard ordering you know, like literally like just stay home, you know, like it's me time all go to the gym and go back, go back home, walk the dog, like literally stay in the neighborhood. So that's that's the best thing for me to do when I know I'm like today, ain't it not really answering the phone like that, you know what I mean. So it just I try to refuel myself before I even step off. 00:10:34 Speaker 1: So speaking of refeeling and balancing, how do you balance between all your the mini hats that you wear. 00:10:41 Speaker 3: I don't know. 00:10:44 Speaker 2: That was like I'm still trying. 00:10:45 Speaker 3: To figure that. Like like this morning, I had two auditions before I came here. After this, I'm going to the studio tonight to finishing touches on my album. So it's like when you when you just love what you do, you kind of just you just make time for it, and you you realize, like, hey, I'm I'm the only one. I'm the only one that has these opportunities, and this is what I pray for. And like what else? What else? What else I got to do today? You know what I mean? Like I really ain't got nothing else to do today. You know, I would just go home and watch watch movies. So let me record this record tonight, let me get it done. Then I could go on vacation, you know what I mean. So really, just uh, just dedication, really, just like no matter how you're feeling, just do it. Just do it, you know, creating that checklist, and sometimes it can feel like you just dragging yourself all day and then when you finally sit down and look at the work, you put in, You're like, whoa, this is years and years of work. 00:11:50 Speaker 1: Consistency and very consistent. 00:11:52 Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's the I feel like that's the name of the game. With anything that you want to be successful in, you just gotta you gotta be consistent. 00:11:58 Speaker 1: And I feel like that's where a lot of people all short. That's that makes a difference between making it and not making it, is that consistency. You don't have to be the best doing what you do with the ones that are consistent make it. 00:12:08 Speaker 3: Nah. Like when I'm in the gym for two weeks, three weeks straight, and I'm like, oh yea, I'm getting crazy, and you get you start you see phil, you feel like you got the results. So you go to Zaxby's at Yeah, you got the room, and then you lose all that two three weeks over a short week or weekend. Yeah, partying and kicking it, and then you like, oh man, I'm back, I'm back. Pop belly. 00:12:35 Speaker 1: They don't take off, you know what I mean? Two weeks to get it off and one chicken tender to get it back, and. 00:12:39 Speaker 3: You like yeah, and it's it's just it's what it's about. Yeah, And I just try to surround myself around people who are consistent and just at this point, like you know, friendships, even colleagues or just anything, if they if people around me aren't consistent in what they're doing or sticking by their word, it's kind of like, man, it's like, we gotta gotta cut you off. Listen. 00:13:03 Speaker 2: No, I got through. 00:13:04 Speaker 1: Because when they're not moving in the same duration that you are, just like all the people that are around you. And if you don't be very mindful unintentional about the people you're around, you be like why am I acting because I'm around you a lot? Because they start to rep off on you, whether you whether you're in that headstats or not. Yeah, it's like it's inevitable. 00:13:23 Speaker 3: And you try, and I think too, like we we got big hearts, so we try to try to help. We try to give insight, and I think all of that is cool. But I've I've learned to give some advice, help where I can watch them if it applied, if they apply it at all, and I leave it at that. I can't. I can't force you to I can't force your journey on you, you know what I mean or not. I can only just lead by example, and just through my actions, so I can give you what I can on an advice tip, but that's about it, you know, Like if I'm on set and what I'm saying, hey, bruh, like I think you should like in more right here, here and here he accepted of it, and I'm like, I did what I could because you know, I could be standing next to you and I could get I could bite the bullet to you, biiting, you know what I mean, because I'm just trying to save you and I can't because you're not recepting what I'm saying, you know. And I think it took me a while to have that voice because I have been in the game since I was right, like my first film said I was on when I was like eleven. Wow, this show called win Tree Hill. Oh yeah, Like they did a few seasons and Sophia Bush was the director of that episode. And I actually seen her pre Gold and Globes parties, and every time I see her, she's like, wow, like I seen I seen that sparking your eye at like eight nine, eleven years old, you know, So it took me a while to kind of have that voice of like even just being the youngest in the room. If I'm in the room full of maybe up and coming actors who are maybe just getting their start at twenty one twenty two, right, but I'm I'm like seventeen, and I don't want to be the you know, they shouldn't do that, you know, like you probably shouldn't move like that, you know. And it took me a while. I was kind of hesitanting. I was always a little shy or scared, like, oh man, they may not they might think I'm be acting funny, right, I think I'm like, I don't know. I just I was overthoughted. And now if I have the opportunity to speak, and if I see somebody that got like a lot of potential, and I'm like, bruh, like you you dope, like you could be more like you don't let up, you know, And if I could tell them, I will. But if I feel like that I was receptive of it, I'm just like, I'm out. 00:15:44 Speaker 1: Right, and the right person would be like, oh, thank you for seeing me, and I do want to lock in and do better. You know, most people will take it if they're in there for the right reasons and they have the right mindset, they would be grateful that you gave them that insight. 00:15:56 Speaker 3: Yeah, and I it's still room for me to grow. Like my agent calls like yeah, dude, like hey, like watch these shows like we make that stuff. Shout out to Dan Dan Kim. We've been rocking soul. I like fourteen so and just inspired by the two auditions I had today and they're just totally different and challenged me because I have been playing the shot for so long. So sometimes it's good for me to just get other auditions that even if I don't get the park, it's just it's just a good exercise, you know what I mean, for like for me to tap into different characters and stuff. 00:16:27 Speaker 1: So I love that you spoke on being the only one and you opened up about survivors remores on the BT's for the fellas. I wanna dive more into that because that's something I love talking to my peers about because a lot of times we are the ones that made it and we carry so much weight when it comes to that. 00:16:45 Speaker 2: Yep, how are you navigating that now? 00:16:49 Speaker 3: Just saying no, you know, just like saying no where where I need to say no, you know, and realizing that I I have a track record of giving. I have a history of giving, and you shouldn't feel guilty because you It's not like you're not a given person. It's not like I ain't got receipts, right. 00:17:08 Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. 00:17:09 Speaker 3: So it's like I've helped you here, I helped you there. You know you can't say I didn't help you there. And I never I would never ask for payback, you know. And every time I give, I'm you know something, I'm gonna get you back. I'm like, listen, every time I give, I'm literally on to the next I'm not even thinking about it. If you have, if you find it somewhere in your heart and you got and you come up on some means to whatever, cool, But I promise you I'm not thinking about it. Please, Like, honestly, if you get, if you make up, if you make some bread, invest in yourself. Please, you ain't gotta make that car to me. 00:17:46 Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. 00:17:47 Speaker 3: You know what I mean. Like you are not in debt over here. You know you can get, you know what I mean. So it's just that that's it took me a while. Took me a while to like let go of that that Survivors Morrison, that that guilt, just like feeling like I have to help everybody, you know, and you know I'm behind on I'm like, man, man, I'm by. 00:18:12 Speaker 1: If I keep helping you, I'm gonna behind. 00:18:14 Speaker 3: You know. And I don't think people realize the more the more money you make, the bigger your expenses. 00:18:19 Speaker 1: The bigger expenses Uncle Sam takes. We're not getting a refund check, you know, and we're paying him even more. 00:18:26 Speaker 3: And it's like, I have I have goals, I have real estate goals. I have money I'm investing into. So you know, on the outside looking in, they can like, oh, he just he was born. He was boring rich because. 00:18:37 Speaker 2: He been he been doing this forever. 00:18:39 Speaker 3: You're doing this since he was ad Like, if I'm being honest, like the real real income like really didn't come to my twenties, you know what I mean. Like my like as a teenager, I was like it may have looked like it may have looked like, but trust me, like it was we were still figuring it out. And you know, as as you know it's black people, we just we make it look good. You know how to how to make it look good, you know. So and I'm at the space now I just don't want to look good. I want to be good. 00:19:11 Speaker 2: I love that. 00:19:11 Speaker 3: And when it's when you want to be good, you gotta say no, you know, I cannot. I cannot help you this in this season. 00:19:19 Speaker 1: In my life, sometimes you have to say no to others to say yes to yourself and yes to your future because unlike a lot of people, our jobs are not promised. 00:19:27 Speaker 2: It could be canceled tomorrow. 00:19:29 Speaker 1: Got rid, you know, but like we have to do everything we can now to make sure it was set. 00:19:32 Speaker 2: Up for the future. 00:19:34 Speaker 1: Most people have some type of job security, you know. We don't have that, so we have to say for the rainy day. 00:19:39 Speaker 3: Yeah. And when they say what's next, like what's next? Like, I don't know what. 00:19:44 Speaker 1: That's what I have to do. It's the pressure of dealing with I don't know. 00:19:47 Speaker 3: Like, thank god, I'm on a show that I can kind of like, I know, we started season eight, you know, but I can't just bank on a bank on that they say they make. They could cancel the show, God forbid nothing that is. But it's like you just never know, you know, like we had a big film strike, you know, like. 00:20:06 Speaker 1: Did they not open your eyes like wow. I was like, oh, like, oh, I got it. 00:20:11 Speaker 3: Thankful for investing in it. That I knew how to invest in real estate. I knew how to save some bread here and just stay at home and stop going to the club. Sections is crazy, Bottles is crazy. Yeah, I can get the bottles of the out create the like my own. 00:20:32 Speaker 2: I can stand on my own account. 00:20:34 Speaker 3: You know, you know what I'm saying. So it's like my whole mental is shifted, yeah, in that in that space, and it's it's literally shown in every aspect of my life spiritually, financially, physically, mentally. I'm like this. 00:20:54 Speaker 2: You also spoke about something that we having common. 00:20:56 Speaker 1: I don't know if your your relationship status right now, but you talked about loans and sometimes loneliness is not a bad thing. I know for me gaining success, it was hard for me to find the right relationship that understood what all comes with this life. And even now, it's like you dates when they're like, oh my goodness, you come with a lot and it's a lot of amazing things, but they may not be used to the level of the amazing things, like this is a lot, and then you're busy all the time you're on the go and you have to stay focused. What was the moment where you realize, wait, being lonely is not a bad thing, or it's not lonely, just being in solitude and by yourself. 00:21:33 Speaker 3: I just come from a big family, Like I grew up. I grew up in a house where my dad and my grandfather was in one house. Really, you know what I mean, like all my uncles, all my cousins. So I come from that type of household. When I was to leave school, like the whole family was in the house with eating dinner, We had big breakfasts, we have you know what I mean. And as I get older and people are going through their own things and whatever, so I was just like, oh man, I can't and bring everybody into my world because it's just it just don't work. It don't work like that, you know, it can't. It don't fit. And you know when it don't fit, you know, because like doing doing business with a bunch of family can work when it works, you know, like the weighings, it works. It works, Yes, it works, brothers, it works. Yes, yes, Smith's family works. Works. Don't work over here, it don't work, you know, and my mother's is you know, she got my back the most. 00:22:35 Speaker 2: Yeah, she manages right. 00:22:36 Speaker 3: Yep, real hands on like she's pretty much everything like you know, assisted making your schedules laid out, you know, secretary all everything, you know, all that works that works when you know when it works, it's just you gotta you gotta keep it at that. And yeah, so that was it was some hard decisions to make on on that of just like the family business. And it doesn't mean I can't have a relationship with my family. Just mean that, Hey, my business is a whole nother arena, you know it is. I'll come to see you. I'm say, I'm gonna check on you, how you're doing. I love you. I gotta get to work. I love y'all. I see you be good. Many say, hey, get them grades up. No, No, I see you know and I did it. 00:23:27 Speaker 1: No, No, no, I can you face something? No looking crazy? My good work on the nicest She wanted me to. She didn't believe he was my cousin. 00:23:38 Speaker 2: I'm over there looking. I'm like, girl, can I. 00:23:40 Speaker 3: Pull up on ship? No? 00:23:43 Speaker 1: Absolutely not. 00:23:44 Speaker 3: Absolutely. All these harassments we gotta take harassment class. You don't know what you don't know what we learned, and you can't just be no, no, I'm not bringing you this is this is the big league, the game on, you know what I mean. So you know, it's just it's it's it's a big shift. And people will think you acting funny. You know, it's like, oh, bro, like you tripping, like because I ain't answering the phone because I got to play a scene where I'm depressed, depressed literally, you know. So it's just like it's the it's those those things and those scripts that come in that that force you to lock in it, you know, And that's the I mean, I wouldn't even say that's just an actor. Any anything you want to do in life, like if you want to be a gymnast, if you want to be a lawyer, it takes that. You got to clock in you. But I also learned I've also learned how to close the office too, Like at home, I got I got my office and then like I really try to be out of the office by five or six o'clock in the evening, where I'm like, all right, don't you know, but you you set your own times up, like every day might be different. Yeah, you know, what I mean, you may start a little later, like tonight, tonight, one of them night. Yeah, you know what I mean a minute, because I've had to I've had to run scenes till one am, two am before with a nine am call to set the same, you know, and you know you have to make those decisions. But I've also just just learned on when to turn it on, when to turn it off for me. That's good, so I could so I could be ready for the next day. Exactly, there's always another day because sleep is important. I listen. 00:25:26 Speaker 1: I tell Deval all the time because we would in the first few seasons, we would push ourselves and I'm like, all right, we just wrapped yea, y'all knocking it out back to back, back to next. 00:25:34 Speaker 3: I like theater, no literal, we shoot. 00:25:37 Speaker 1: We literally shoot like we're in front of a live audience. That one take because Tyler comes from the theater. 00:25:42 Speaker 3: Shout out the time I got my first gig on one of my first gigs, House of Pain. 00:25:46 Speaker 1: Really wow. And that's still going. It's crazy, that is still going. 00:25:51 Speaker 3: Yeah. I talked to the Lands. I'm like, man, what season y'all? You said, bro, like thirteen something? Crazy? 00:25:56 Speaker 1: Yeah, like, I'm like, I need to be that's type of longevity. I need consistent. 00:26:01 Speaker 2: I love it talent, but no I get it. 00:26:05 Speaker 1: Like and we would literally like push ourselves, and by like season maybe four, I was like, do you I can't keep doing this. I was like, let me go to sleep, cause I we used to stay on campus after COVID we would stay at the studio. 00:26:17 Speaker 3: Gotcha. 00:26:17 Speaker 1: So afterward we wrapped. Alright, I'm about to go ar some crab legs. Let's get these lines down for the next day. And one day we were running lines and I was like and he was like Christmas. I was like, no, He's like Christmas. I say yeah, and I was like, I gotta go to sleep. 00:26:32 Speaker 3: I can't. 00:26:33 Speaker 1: So I went and I was like I went to sleep. And then the next day knew every line. He was like, how did you do that? And I was like, I gotta sleep. 00:26:40 Speaker 3: You gotta sleep on it, cause you you'll try to run them lines at that one a two am and you just stumbling over and that brain rest a little bit. Let HI marinate. It's almost like when I was usual to go to dance class, like I really didn't know. I didn't know the moves that that day, if we they talked the next day and for the song or the tour we were rehearsing for. I just the movies just coming out for yeah, like you gotta sleep? Yeah know what I'm saying. 00:27:06 Speaker 1: Yes, but anything that's exactly exactly. When it comes to roles that you choose as an actor, do you let the story speak to you? Are there some absolute things that you look for in the character? How do you go through that process? Like you just had two auditions today? What made you say I wanna read for these? 00:27:23 Speaker 3: It's it's a it's a It's a layer of things. It's a layer of things. I think at this point, I'm definitely looking at first, I'm looking at script, looking at story doesn't move me? Yeah, there is it? Is it? Is it lighthearted? Is it heavy? You know? Sometimes it could it could be either or Who's who's the director? Yeah, who's the producers? 00:27:43 Speaker 2: Important? 00:27:44 Speaker 3: You know? I I I'm I'm at a point right now. I want I wanna go for the biggest p commercial gigs, you know what I mean? I want to try to I wanna win, Yeah, you know, yeah, I wanna I wanna be next to seasoned actors, you know. So I I do make those choices, and I do ask who's cast it asks, you know, and it's no, it's no shade or anything. There's nothing like, oh I can't work with this person because of this or that. Like it's like it's just I paid my dues before, you know, I started young, and I want that next level. I love Timothy Chaloma's like speech ye, He's like, I want to I want to strive for the to be a great you know, and I'm inspired by the greats in the room, and I want to be next to greats, and I want to work with greats on to be on screen with great you know. And that's just if if greats and that to say my peers and my peers aren't great, that's it's I have some peers that are really great, and I prefer to work with yeah. 00:28:43 Speaker 1: Yeah, you know. 00:28:44 Speaker 3: Like when I worked with Kelvin Harrison in this film called Kelly, I was like. 00:28:49 Speaker 1: Brouh, you like my favorite actor, that's one of my favorite Yeah. 00:28:55 Speaker 3: I actually that film, I actually met Jonathan Majors for the first time. I was like, bruh, out of here. Oh no, he had a side like I had the side on my hand douring rehearsal his sides. Ready, He's just ready still was cut up T shirt, abbs. I'm like these sides, I'm ready. I'm like ready, I'm ready to I think he made a jog around us in the three sixty to get his breath pumping up for the scene. For the particular scene we were shooting. He was just like and I was. 00:29:29 Speaker 1: Like, incredible. Do you know where he studies? 00:29:32 Speaker 2: I always loved to like people. 00:29:34 Speaker 3: Do you do that? I believe he went to school like. 00:29:36 Speaker 1: He was like, okay when classical trained, because I always looked to see like people that I love and they're working, I'm like, where did they study? Because if I can get some type of intensive course in, I like to keep that tool sharp. 00:29:48 Speaker 3: I definitely watched and Terrence Terrence Howard was on that set. It was a it was a pretty pretty cool Charlie Plumber some really like really amazing people, like right before they really took off, you know, And it was that that was the beauty of working on a film like that. 00:30:02 Speaker 1: Yeah, what made you say yes to that one? 00:30:05 Speaker 3: The script was just like super you feel like the character not me at all, Like if if anybody that's seen the film would be like, oh, you got a whole different but I believe mcguil. Mcguil reached out to me. It was like, bro, they don't even know what you're of. Wow, And that meant a lot to me because you know, when you're doing a new role, he kind of like he kind of insecure, like You're like, man, like, I don't know if I am I killing it? Am I really? You know? Cause audition a shout out to the bill. I auditioned like six times, and shout out to him for believing in me, you know what I mean. Like it was like audition for like five or six times. He was like, more more, You're not going hard. You're too smooth. Like it was just like too smooth, Like you're too like check it off. I was like, right right, you're like because I seen R and B. You know, I'm just I'm Jacob Lotimore. 00:31:05 Speaker 1: He like that off, you're off, it's. 00:31:08 Speaker 3: Not gonna work here. Yeah, So wow. 00:31:11 Speaker 1: Was it frustrating like a little bit, because you like, I'm sure at this point in your career you're like either. 00:31:15 Speaker 3: You want me or you don't like But it was it was just refreshing though, because usually after the third audition they on to the they're looking for the next person. 00:31:25 Speaker 2: You like, we're getting somewhere. 00:31:27 Speaker 3: So I believe he was in He was definitely in there fighting for me. Yeah, because then you know, a producer may have a favorite, the director might have a writer. You know, the director is like, no, I see something that you push. 00:31:41 Speaker 1: Harder, and that's who has to work with. 00:31:43 Speaker 3: You know that director the bill for pushing me on that was you know, that's a that's a film I always cherished, just the learning lesson. Yeah. 00:31:53 Speaker 1: I mean in your career, what has been like the most challenging thing that you had to deal with, like on set. I'm sure that was one of the most. 00:31:59 Speaker 3: Definite it was that the most challenge I would say. I would say I would say definitely it was. Yeah, I haven't I haven't been challenged like that in a long time. I mean, Season seven of The Shot is gonna be uh it was. It pulled on me emotionally and it's going through some heavy stuff. He's not always smiles and fun and jokes. Yeah, I would say this is probably the toughest season for me on the Shot, just on the locking in part like, oh no, I can't. I gotta get I have to be ready for this. 00:32:38 Speaker 2: To be able to perform the way you need to. 00:32:39 Speaker 3: Because we you know, we you both you and I both know how like when they got to film that scene that day and they're on that time schedule and they got that shot up and you're trying, You're trying to be ready for that moment. Ain't no room for air? 00:32:54 Speaker 1: Are you a method actor? 00:32:56 Speaker 3: I can be for Udy y'all, I definitely was. Yeah, would kill him. Uh. And it depends. It depends on the the heaviness of it. Like if it's some room for me to add me in there, I don't really be on anything method. 00:33:11 Speaker 1: Yeah. 00:33:12 Speaker 3: If it's like not me at all, you gotta wake up close the whole time it lock it. I may not show up to set with that energy that I would like to show up to stay with. Yeah, cause I want to make sure I'm not acting funnier like uh, causing any refraft cause some people could take the method thing and be rude, be rude, Yeah, like I I wanna. I want to just let people know like, hey, I'm. 00:33:38 Speaker 1: Just you just had films and then as soon as you reverends like, man, thank you so much. Yeah, no, I get it. 00:33:50 Speaker 3: You doing this. 00:33:51 Speaker 1: There are sounds like even with my hair and makeup team, they know me so well, but before they really understood my method, they would be like key Ken and I would have super emotion to like, hey, can y'all just bring it down just a little bit because I can't be like and over here like trying to keep that because I'm a naturally happy person and I'm not. I'm getting to the point where I can almost cry, like to the drop, but I need it takes the men to build it. 00:34:14 Speaker 3: I'm not like a yeah, and it gets harder to you because you're like you built tough for skin. You don't You're not as emotional as you was, you know, so you gotta like go listen to that one song. 00:34:27 Speaker 1: Listen what's your song right now? 00:34:29 Speaker 3: I think I listened to. I think it was it's a voice to men record. Okay, I don't want to say it. 00:34:39 Speaker 1: I want to say it, and I shouldn't ask you that because my acting coach, so you never asked an actor what they're like, trigger is or like their song or whatever. 00:34:46 Speaker 3: It's all good now because it's a couple. It's a couple. And then it's actually an old song that my my, my dad and my uncles sung when they were teenagers, the gospel. 00:34:55 Speaker 1: Record Your dad was a singer. 00:34:57 Speaker 3: Wow. Okay, Yeah, so like my dad and my uncles, they formed a gospel quartet whenever young call them more Wow and uh yeah, they were actually touring and doing that thing. And and then they later on got signed to m c A Records by Randy Jackson doing R and D. 00:35:16 Speaker 1: That's What's Up. 00:35:16 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so it's that room. Was was amazing for them. And I learned a lot watching them, I can imagine, yeah, just hearing their stories and you know, learning a lot from my uncle. Yeah, your uncle still to this day. Like Jake, stay focused, stay focused, Little Jake who loves out there, Little Jake, stay focused. Don't let him stay out there. 00:35:38 Speaker 1: Shout out. We need we need those voices in our ears because it can't get a little crazy. You know, when you're it's so much coming at you and life is changing so fast, you need to stay grounded. Absolutely, shout out that. 00:35:50 Speaker 3: Got to listen to it, yes, absolutely. 00:35:53 Speaker 1: Speaking of music, one of my favorite songs right now is Residuals oh yeah, like I slid on it there you let me tell you something, record bodied you bodied the When Tank started the challenge, I was always I'm like, okay, now, who's cause that song is just like so good and I want to be I'll take When he started that, I was like, who's gonna like hop on this? And when you came in, baby, let me tell you something, I was like, hey, what enough fire signs? 00:36:24 Speaker 3: I was like so good? You know. When I saw the challenge bit put up and I was like, I just put my phone down. I was like, I ain't doing it. 00:36:34 Speaker 1: Really, he was ain't gonna do it? What puts you to do it? 00:36:37 Speaker 3: Family members they're like, you gotta have a little jay. I know you don't do the covers, nore, Yeah, you gotta do this one. Listen, you gotta do this one. And I was just like, so, I literally I have recorded it, filmed it, and I literally wasn't about to throw it up really like I had did everything that. It was like, I was like, nah, what was the hesitation? It was just I just felt nervous. My body was shaken, you know that kind of like adrenaline rush. I pressed here, there's like a hundred comments and like two s I'm like, here we go upstairs and just I was like, I'm like, what's going on? Yeah? What you what you mean? What do you mean? 00:37:24 Speaker 1: Bro? 00:37:24 Speaker 4: I see that's how you're feeling. 00:37:29 Speaker 1: Because we were all like, oh, that's how you feeling. 00:37:31 Speaker 3: Look, it's just R and B. It's music, you know, shout out c B. Yes you know. I got a chance to kick it with c B. And I went to go see him in Brazil and Yo. 00:37:42 Speaker 1: His international run was insane. 00:37:45 Speaker 3: Yeah, like and a lot of the dancers that's with him I grew up with and just being out in l A just seeing them their growth as well. So it was just it was a full circle moment and I just had to hop on it. I'm like, you know, I'm like, I almost hesitant. Yeah, I know. They was like, I feel like nobody was kind of expecting me to do it either, just because I've just been so wrapped into the film. But it was a cool moment for for me to just show my talent on the music side. A lot of a lot of a lot of fans don't know I've ever did music. What I've seen like a lot of comments they're like when image starts singing forever, you know the world so big, and you you gotta constantly humble yourself and say, no, I still got I still got more to prove on the side, I still got people to win over. I still got more territory to conquer. 00:38:36 Speaker 1: And I would say something that song, how vulnerable you were in your cover on that one. I feel like you have that like usher confessions type of like vulnerability where you're really pouring your heart out and sharing your truth and something that a lot of people aren't comfortable doing. Are you now that you're working on your own music, original music? Is that something that you're putting into your music now? 00:38:58 Speaker 3: Yeah? What thing was? 00:38:59 Speaker 1: I had been doing it. 00:39:01 Speaker 3: It's just like I'm an independent artist, so it hadn't It didn't really hit when I actually dropped it. I dropped the EP called Closure just about just how it was feeling, you know. But I guess it was like it was kind of quiet. You know, my my core fans knew about it. Yes, but you know, something like that come about they're like, oh, we ain't do music, Like, oh, he's been dropping stuff for a long time. I've been I've been dropping heartbreak music I've been dropping you know, the heel musical. You know what I'm saying. Connection one, Connection two, Connection three came out twenty sixteen, and you know, so now it's just a lot more eyes yeah on my next project and with social media too. And then the yeah part of me was like I need my I wish my album was done now, right now, perfect time, because like we gotta do certain things, you know, we gotta we gotta be when it's hot. We got to catch that moment we're not. I'm not signed to a major company. I do want to go back major one day. I just I think for me, I just understand what the contract is. I understand what it is like, I understand that I understand the power of a major label like, but I also understand the freedom of being independent. And it does work for me because I am on sept most of the time. Yeah, but major, I mean major companies still got uh, they still got their foot in the game in the way that it's it's still tough for us, know, but I want to go back with with leverage. Though I don't want to just go back to go back to go back with it's gotta be, it's gotta be right. It's gotta make it's gotta be worth my while. Yes, you know what I mean. You know what I'm saying, what I was saying. What I'm saying, it's gotta be worth it. 00:40:43 Speaker 1: It has to be. 00:40:44 Speaker 2: That's a signing. I say all the time. 00:40:45 Speaker 1: If we're gonna go to a bigger company for representation, they have to be doing more than what we're doing here. And West too, We're like, if they ain't doing we listen to three of us, listen, we go get it. Yeah, so y'all had to bring more than what are we doing ourselves. We can keep that money, you. 00:41:03 Speaker 3: Know, cause it's just you know, you just understand when you think about your favorite artists, right, you think about your favorite touring artists. If you I don't know, you can name anybody and you and you look at that touring numbers, and you look at who they're signed to. They signed to the big dogs. You know, they just it is what it is. They can't start off that way, Yes, they started they started off indy. You know, it's a great way to it's a great way to know how to be a boss, indye, Like it's know how to go get your own records, put your own studio time, shoot your own music video. Yeah, like you gotta. It's a direct to consumer thing. You definitely gotta learn, no doubt about it, because you'll you'll get to a record company and be like, well, they ain't doing nothing for me, but they they only they watching you, right, you gotta you gotta see that you moving. They gotta see that you posting four or five times a day that you're dedicated about it, so they can't so you can't access that capital that they have. Exactly, you know what I mean, Like a lot of people compare their independent releases to a major artist release that that major artist may have a million dollars on the mark, back off the gate. As soon as that record drop, a million dollars is spent, and now it's everywhere. It's in H and M, it's in elevators, exactly like you like, oh my one mother, stuff ain't popping you Like, you can't even compare your dollars. You know, you gotta focus on your audience and then when it's when it's the right time, ye go expend yep. 00:42:31 Speaker 1: Exactly. I love that switching gears a little bit. I want to talk about love relationships and personal growth as a young man. Who the ladies love? 00:42:41 Speaker 3: Is that love? Ladies? Is that? Is that true? Why is that lady? Why is that lady alone? From night to night? You fand me? 00:42:50 Speaker 6: You see, he wonders why you'll see that? 00:42:57 Speaker 3: That's my favorite interview. 00:42:58 Speaker 1: Oh my guys classic. Do you find it hard to date being in the public eye? Cause you done play relationships? 00:43:08 Speaker 3: But really, I mean at first it it seems a little unorthodox. I mean it is different. Yeah, spotlight is different, you know when when dating. But at this point it's just like this just come with the territory. Yeah, it's just it's my life, you know, I like that, you know what I mean. It's like it ain't really you learn to kind of just brush off certain things, you know what I mean. So it's just it took some while to getting used to. Yeah, everything being so public, you like, oh whoa, Okay, l people really care about who you're with or you with and how you're how you're moving, how you're moving as a unit. Yeah, and you know it's just not you can't just take it lightly like people if you putting it out there like whoa, yeah, exactly where be ready? 00:43:52 Speaker 1: Social media, like, has that was that ever like a issue in your cause? I know for me, like they like you just give one little clue and the like they know the person's whole life, their whole backstory, and then they have an opinion on everything. 00:44:03 Speaker 3: And it's like, yeah, like now I would ask I would, I would have a lot more boundaries. 00:44:09 Speaker 1: Now what would you? 00:44:10 Speaker 3: I would? I would just be like, no, let's not let's not throw that up. Honestly me personally, at this point, I wouldn't pop out until it's my wife. I'm with you, you know what I mean. Yes, I'm not out. 00:44:23 Speaker 1: Yes, that's that's when my boundaries for dating. There's no red carpets, no like social media post I'm not gonna hide you. We can go out and do whatever. If people see us, they see us, but I'm not broadcasting it until that's that's just for my husband. 00:44:39 Speaker 3: It's done. I'm popping out like I'm with you. That's that's that's how I would like to do because just popped off. But we were like yeah, and it just it just it's it's more peaceful that way. Way. More gotta deal with everybody all in you and your stuff. You know. 00:45:01 Speaker 1: I love that. So I want to know Jacob's dream girl. If you could like give the DNA or the makeup and the qualities of your dream girl, what. 00:45:12 Speaker 3: Would she be like? Dream girl? First thing coming around? Just a golly thinking woman, like not a perfect When I say golly, that's not it doesn't mean she's absolutely I'm not perfect, Like I mean, just somebody that's always, uh constantly feeling that conviction down the walk, you know, trying to live a life of like a sense of like repentance. Oh man, like yesterday I could have been better. You know, I want to be better. I think I'm looking not looking, but if I if I see someone like, yeah, I like that. You know, because in the industry we're in, we're dealing with a lot of spirits. We're dealing with a lot of things going on at home. I needed to be I need to feel like holy gyl, you know what I mean. It needed to be like you know what I'm saying. I mean, I'm I'm in the kingdom of you know something. 00:46:08 Speaker 1: I love. 00:46:09 Speaker 3: That's that's that's important for me. That's I think ultimately, that's that's a dream girl. And then you know, outside of that, I needed to be in the gym. In the gym. Yes, I love to work out. I love to work out with my partner. Like I think it's a I think it's very I think I feel like it's empowering. Its great bonding, good conversation, therapy. 00:46:32 Speaker 1: Come on, so do you have a therapist? I do good. 00:46:36 Speaker 3: It's been it's been a few months. That's what I was. I was. I was heavy in it. I need to get back in there, get back in there. But it's it was great for me because it taught me how to manage a lot on my own and let stuff go that like you She's like, why are you carrying that? You like? 00:46:56 Speaker 1: I don't know, that's a good question, but. 00:46:58 Speaker 3: Why you know so that I like, I like girl some style, you know. But that's that could be taught too. 00:47:07 Speaker 1: It can that could be always say that I can handle that. 00:47:10 Speaker 3: Yeah, that could be taught. Like I'm like, can you put this on? 00:47:14 Speaker 2: It's already laid. 00:47:15 Speaker 3: That's crazy, and Piper up like yeah, like, hey that looks crazy. We hey, I see you, Like what's happened? You know? So you know those are materialistic things that could be taught, and then you know, it's all I had this conversation not so long ago. I'm like, do I want to do I want to working working woman or do I want to at homegirl? 00:47:43 Speaker 1: Yeah? 00:47:44 Speaker 3: Because I am such a workaholic. 00:47:46 Speaker 1: You need It's almost like you need a balance, bud y'all can't be Yeah, how do you feel about that? 00:47:50 Speaker 3: I don't know yet, you know, I really don't know yet. I mean it's not that I don't want my girl to have ambition and work ethic, you know what I mean. I feel like I think she she definitely has something that she loves to do, but I don't want her to feel like she got to do it. Like like like when I'm like when I come home, I need you to be at the crib? 00:48:11 Speaker 2: Yeah, where you at? 00:48:13 Speaker 3: You know? And that's that's and I check myself. That's maybe a little selfish in me, a little bit, you know a little bit. 00:48:19 Speaker 1: But it's honest. But it's yeah, you have to be honest with yourself and what you need, you know, and finding the person that's like yeah, I can I. 00:48:25 Speaker 3: Can do that, you know? Yeah. Yeah, it's something I'm still on the with that, Like I'm still like no, no, no, no, no, I need because I've had situations where where a girl paid a girl paid for me. One time, I was like, okay for you, like like in the sense of like dinner and like my birthday. I was like, I always always like I feel cringey because I'm like, I'm so used to being the one, you know, And I was like, I'm like that kind of felt good. 00:48:57 Speaker 2: I'm like, oh god, you get used to this, like some bread. 00:49:01 Speaker 3: And then I'm like, oh no, the spirit. It's the spirit because that's more important, way more, you know what I'm saying. So it's it's always a battle. But I think for me, I'm just I'm really trying to force myself into space right now to be single. It's the longest I've ever been lately. I started out dating young relationships, so I was like back to back laceship for like ten years. 00:49:26 Speaker 1: Yeah, I was a habitual dater, Like you break up and I'm like, yeap, next, yeah, next, because one was public, but the other ones was private and then long and no one's seen that. 00:49:35 Speaker 3: So I'm just like, I don't want to preach like, oh, you should be single, you should never date, Like that's not what I want to put out there. I just think for me in this season, it's just good for me to enjoy my home, yes, and the silence of my career. It's important, yeah, you know, and just and take that time out before I share it with somebody. 00:49:54 Speaker 2: And I'll tell you something because I'm a lot older than you. 00:49:58 Speaker 1: When I had a season of my life or I didn't date as well, And I feel like when you're like us and we've dated so like rapid or frequently, and you have all these different people and there's different energies and just poor and poor and pooring because when you're a relationship, it's all about your partner, you know, And there comes a time where you do have to be selfish as you or whatever people want to call it. But I think in those moments you learn so much about yourself. You learn how to figure out what it is you like. Because sometimes we can be in relationships like whatever you like, whatever you want to do, and it's like what do I like? 00:50:30 Speaker 3: You know? 00:50:31 Speaker 1: And I feel like in those moments of solitude and just not being with somebody, you learn exactly what you want. So I'm proud of you. 00:50:37 Speaker 3: Thank you. 00:50:38 Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, because. 00:50:39 Speaker 1: A lot I mean people date like you shouldn't be alone and know sometimes you need those. 00:50:43 Speaker 3: Doesn't necessarily mean that I don't go kick it, you know, like it's just my home is for me, you know. But I go to dinner, you know, like I'll go you know, I have a dinner with a nice young lady in Atlanta. 00:50:55 Speaker 1: We go to South. 00:50:59 Speaker 3: Atlanta, said wing limit, Pamper. You know, you might catch a vibe, you know. So it ain't like I'm just like so isolated. 00:51:08 Speaker 1: But you're not so like I got to get somebody, like you're not on the hunt or on the prowl. 00:51:12 Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm very vocal on just like, hey, I'm not I'm not really taking things serious right now. 00:51:19 Speaker 1: So you're not let anyone on. 00:51:21 Speaker 3: Yeah, you know it is tough. It's tough. 00:51:26 Speaker 1: You listen, I'm trying to tell you it's very tough. 00:51:28 Speaker 3: Because it's easy. 00:51:28 Speaker 2: It's easy to be like I like her though, but I really like it. 00:51:33 Speaker 3: Like wait, what am I I ain't got no vision, I ain't got no vision. I ain't think about the next two years. 00:51:39 Speaker 1: You have very intentional when it's time to be in that space, because you can break somebody's heart because it be likeake like me, like this the one. It like he just broke up because you wasn't ready. And I'm like, now, Jake Aladdin broke broke my heart and you don't want that. 00:51:56 Speaker 3: I don't want to track record. 00:51:58 Speaker 1: No, you know, so you're doing the right thing. I'm proud of you. So I I know you. We said when people ask you, what's next, So I'm not gonna ask you what's next? But what are you looking forward to for the future? 00:52:09 Speaker 3: For you? Right now? I'm just looking forward to just uh, I'm looking forward to creating more on the on the film side, Like I've been trying to practice more writing. Okay, sure, taking more time and I'll talk to writers and I was like, how long did you, uh, how long did it take for you to write the script all this? Oh? Man, like six years? Oh yeah, you think you could go in writing in your office and write a script in number thirty days? Yeah? You know. 00:52:37 Speaker 1: No, I've been writing a script since two two thousand, when was COVID twenty twenty? 00:52:42 Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, and uh uh a a great writer mentor of mind. He was like, you can't write small. 00:52:47 Speaker 1: No, that's so true. 00:52:48 Speaker 3: You can't write small. He said, it's hard to make it small. So I got some. I got some one sheets. He like M he said, one sheets are cool, but it's hard to write small. You gotta you gotta take that two year, take two three years. Yes, every day and add something to the story and the next thing you know, Yeah, you have one hundred pages. Yeah, on twenty pages, you know what I mean? So, uh, just being patient with myself journaling more. 00:53:13 Speaker 1: We'll have to get you a journal, A journal I got. 00:53:16 Speaker 3: I got some. I just I'd be like if you look at the days of my journey, it's like it'd be like months out between day. Yeah. 00:53:24 Speaker 1: It's really hard, especially when you're busy. It's hard to like wake up or in the evening to figure out the time to sit down and really journal. 00:53:30 Speaker 2: You have to be very It's something you. 00:53:31 Speaker 3: Have to be intentional with absolutely. 00:53:33 Speaker 1: So I understand, trust me, because there's times in my life where I'm like, ooh, that was January. It's March. 00:53:38 Speaker 2: So like, I definitely get it. 00:53:39 Speaker 1: I'm more intentional about it now, Yeah, because it's therapeutic for me and it's I I write my prayers out. Yeah, so like I talk to God about like what I'm grateful for, what I'm going through what I want him to like guide me through and all the type of things. So it's more of like my time with God. Okay, where I write it out. But yeah, we'll make sure we get you. 00:53:56 Speaker 3: A journey I need. We always need, We always need them journeys. 00:53:59 Speaker 1: Yeah, like I have. 00:54:00 Speaker 3: I had like three or four over the past couple of years. Yeah, like you had some information in there. You got some information, Yeah, and you just writing down goals. And I mean a lot of my goals are like financial and real estate goals. I've been into that, like i've been. Only only thing I've been buying is like turnkey properties and then like properties that already have tenets in there and it's cash already smart don't really need much work. But I want to get into flipping flipping properties in the next then the next six months, you know what I mean. So I'm just like diving into that. And then also just doing a little traveling too. Yeah. You know this this is the longest break we've had in between seasons, So I want to do a little traveling, see the world bit, you know, and get some perspective, you know, and get some inspiration. Because I am a home body. I am like Chicago, Atlanta and Chicago Atlanta, maybe LA, maybe New York. But to get out the states, absolutely try some different food, you know, close for language, all the things. 00:55:03 Speaker 1: Yeah, that's getting enough. You'll come back inspired, I promise. 00:55:06 Speaker 2: You, y'all. 00:55:13 Speaker 1: I thought I was different. Now I love that. So we do what's called positive outcomes, where our listeners write in and we give them advice. So I'm gonna read this letter from I don't want to butcher your name. I hope I'm saying this right. And Elijah williams hey and Elijah and Elijah says, I recently just left a relationship I was in for nine years, the only relationship I've been in, the only person I've ever been with. I have three children by him. As I started seeking God, we became further apart. I didn't quite understand until one night. We had a big argument and I prayed for clarity, and it was as if God himself was in my face and said, he can't go the wi she wants what it wants, that. 00:56:01 Speaker 2: It when it's comfortable. 00:56:03 Speaker 1: But the spirit says, no, how do you handle flesh and spirit? 00:56:07 Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, no, I just so I'm not even knowing I'm experiencing nothing out with it. But what I do know about what I've read is a man leads his mother and his father and become one flesh with his wife. 00:56:24 Speaker 1: Mm. 00:56:25 Speaker 3: And I don't that. That don't sound easy to me. So I don't think it was ever meant to be easy unless it was like something that's that's truly detrimental. Yeah, in the relationship, I say, fight for it, and he got a family. Man. 00:56:39 Speaker 1: I think her biggest thing is that she's seeking a relationship with God and the God's pulling apart from her. 00:56:44 Speaker 3: Mm. 00:56:45 Speaker 1: So it's I haven't had that situation, but I have had a situation where I. 00:56:48 Speaker 3: Had missed that part. I wouldn't listen. 00:56:51 Speaker 2: Okay, I think that was her biggest thing. 00:56:53 Speaker 1: But for me, I've been in a situation where literally God said in the car and was like I heard the same thing. 00:56:57 Speaker 2: He can't go cause I was fighting for it. I was like, I wanted he was a narcissist, manipulative. 00:57:03 Speaker 3: I would go as like next journey of your life. 00:57:06 Speaker 1: Yeah, I see, yeah, but you like the flesh ones what it's like. But I love this man and this woman, and it's like you see all the things that it could be in your mind, and God was like, no, that ain't what I have for you. And the reason why you still stuck is because you haven't let this go, so I can't take you to the next level. I've had that situation and then even where I am now, God has been He's I've talked about it on another podcast, but God convicted me on sex. So I'm really my Bible and like I'm reading it's like sexual morality. 00:57:34 Speaker 2: I'm like, it's like the pain. The words are like. 00:57:36 Speaker 3: I'm like, list, like I've seen you last night. You right, I wouldn't. I wouldn't even supposed to be doing that. I wouldn't supposed to be. 00:57:55 Speaker 1: I told a friend of mine because I gave it up. I gave it sex, and I had the hardest time telling the guys. And I was like, he's gonna be like, nah, I'm good on that, and he was like, no, this is what guy con beeted you on, Like I'm with it. But I remember telling my friend. As I went even further, I threw my vibrator out and all the things. I was like, I'm really gonna do this because I can't like be halfway in and halfway out. And I remember telling her. I was like, there was a bad storm, like a few weeks ago, and I was like, I woke up. 00:58:23 Speaker 2: The thunder was so loud. I was like, is that guy? Like I thought he was bad. 00:58:26 Speaker 1: I went to my closet and earth and I was like, Lord, I was like, if. 00:58:29 Speaker 3: You come and come on them, stomach feelings don't like I've realized, like you can't ignore it. Don't ignore it, you know, And anytime I have it's like I knew it. I knew it. 00:58:40 Speaker 2: Yeah, you felt it. 00:58:41 Speaker 3: It's like sometimes you feel like it's you crazy. You feel like I'm being crazy, I'm tripping, I'm overthinking, You're not. Nah, there was nothing point. 00:58:51 Speaker 2: Yeah, I told my girlfriend. 00:58:52 Speaker 1: I said, I said when I thought he was here, I was like, I really thought God that came back and I said, and I thought, oh, if God come back to right now. Do I want to be something with my legs cock back? Like, oh, you're thinking about she. 00:59:07 Speaker 2: Said, Damn, I ain't thinking about like that. 00:59:08 Speaker 1: I was like, think about it. 00:59:10 Speaker 2: I said, whatever you're doing that, you aint got no business doing. I was like, I want to. 00:59:14 Speaker 3: Be I want to be in the word like I knew. 00:59:19 Speaker 1: I knew York, I knew my daddy. 00:59:24 Speaker 2: I told my dad he was done. 00:59:26 Speaker 1: He said, girl, he said, you're gonna be gone before he even know you, like before you're gonna caught up in the raster. I was like, I said, well, whatever I'm doing, I want to be caught up doing the right thing. I want to be getting gether there like but naked, Like. 00:59:36 Speaker 3: What was you do? You should want to be in the Covenant, right, You're. 00:59:39 Speaker 2: In the Covenant. 00:59:40 Speaker 3: It's like, you know what I mean, we under your blood. 00:59:45 Speaker 1: It's cool. 00:59:46 Speaker 3: Yes, you're single, just outside. 00:59:49 Speaker 6: Man, I knew, I knew I was supposed to be home in my words watch the service, being alone and sip of tea. 01:00:02 Speaker 1: Yes, son, Elijah, I would tell you just to continue to work on your relationship with God, and anything that is pushing you away from that or hindering from that, you have to separate from it. So we're praying for you girls. 01:00:13 Speaker 3: Right, and forget what I said, because I went, I ain't got no business even speaking of that. 01:00:25 Speaker 1: So we are going to end the show with a rapid fire game, all right. So every word or phrase that I say, you're gonna tell me the first thing that comes to mind. 01:00:33 Speaker 3: Okay, you're ready, wait, wait say time. 01:00:38 Speaker 1: I'm gonna say. I'm gonna give you some phrases and whatever I say, I want you to say the first thing that comes to mind. It can be like it doesn't have to be just one word. You can like whatever comes to mind, you can say it. The first one is the shy, consistent, all right, the perfect woman out there self care. 01:01:07 Speaker 3: Mm therapy. I love that. Milwaukee hometown. 01:01:11 Speaker 5: Yes, growth, uncomfortable mm was it mm. 01:01:24 Speaker 3: Ooh an everyday learning curve. I don't never feel like I'm there. 01:01:33 Speaker 1: I love that last one purpose purpose. 01:01:39 Speaker 3: Just divine. Almost don't even understand it, Like I'm still trying to figure it out. Like you think it's because you're doing your music. You think it's because it's doing your acting, but it's like it's something deeper. You know it's deeper, and you just you still we're still trying to figure it out, right, like oh oh, that was the purpose for me being here, That was a purpose for me working with this actress. That was the real purpose for me working with this actor. Yes, like we're doing this movie is gonna come out, but that conversation I had with but the person was like, that was it, And that's the mysteriousness of the creator. 01:02:21 Speaker 1: I love that. I love that. Take a Thank you so much. I really enjoyed talking to you. They are gonna gotta love it. Thank you so much. 01:02:32 Speaker 3: Thank you. 01:02:37 Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. My episode with Jacob Lattimore was absolutely amazing. He has been in the game for so long. I took so many gyms and I know you guys did too. One of the things that stood out the most to me were when we talked about survivors and Morris and who can come with you and who can't. And I feel like that is so prominent and so many people's walks. Is knowing when it's time to let certain people go and the people we should hold on to that understand where you're going. 01:03:03 Speaker 2: And your walk. That was an incredible. 01:03:09 Speaker 1: Conversation with Jacob. His journey and personal growth is inspiring and I hope you're walking away as motivated as I am.
