00:00:18 Speaker 1: So, as I just said, we're talking about what pre show chatter should be, and I have something I've wanted to talk to you about, but unfortunately most of it is is going. 00:00:26 Speaker 2: To be bleeped. 00:00:26 Speaker 3: I mean yeah, but once you said that, it was like, well, there's no other thing we're going to let you talk about, Okay. 00:00:33 Speaker 1: I recently have discovered a new favorite swear word, really I have and I can't stop. 00:00:41 Speaker 2: Saying it, and it's brilliant. And that word is twat. 00:00:49 Speaker 1: There's something about the word twat that is so this or oh I love it. 00:00:56 Speaker 4: I like my swears to have edges, and that one's a little funny. 00:00:59 Speaker 2: It's a little like a kind of why I like it because it used to. 00:01:02 Speaker 4: Be yeah see that has edged. 00:01:06 Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's the only one that still has a visceral reaction. 00:01:09 Speaker 4: You hear, you hear. 00:01:11 Speaker 2: None of that matters. 00:01:13 Speaker 1: But what there's there's also a specific like we were I was talking about somebody that we know, and somebody was describing this person and they're not a good individual. 00:01:25 Speaker 2: This person someone we know, we know, you you. 00:01:29 Speaker 1: Don't know them, You don't know. This is somebody that susan and we're trying to discuss. We'll figure it out. Trying to discuss how to describe this person. 00:01:40 Speaker 4: That was the perfect word. 00:01:41 Speaker 2: It was because people were like. 00:01:42 Speaker 1: Is it douche Like, no, he's not a douche, and then it was like, he's a. 00:01:47 Speaker 3: Difference between it. 00:01:50 Speaker 1: That's great question, Danielle, And I think we have to really so. I think a douche can still be a good there's times where I'm a douche. 00:01:59 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, a little is a little squat, daniel. 00:02:05 Speaker 4: But you're definitely douchey at times. 00:02:07 Speaker 2: That's what that's like. A little yes, I see, but I know I can be a douche too, Like you can be a bit of a douche. It can be a bit of a douche. 00:02:16 Speaker 4: It's like being douche implies that you're like pretending to be something you're not, or like or thinking you're something you're not, or you have. 00:02:27 Speaker 2: Some sort of an affectation you're using maybe. 00:02:30 Speaker 3: A little cheesy like. 00:02:32 Speaker 2: Like this is my parrot. 00:02:33 Speaker 4: Like you could mean well and still be douche correct, yes, but a twat doesn't. 00:02:39 Speaker 3: Yeah, you're a little like Yes, I'd. 00:02:43 Speaker 1: Like to add a new category. Then, if you're a douche twat. It's a whole different thing like dot good. Yeah, gender it's just sort of like you're such by the way, being a twat is, it's one of the few genderless things in the world. 00:02:59 Speaker 2: Yes, I just. 00:03:01 Speaker 1: I'm a big fan of the word twat. I'm saying it all the time now. I think all the kids should start saying it because it's great. 00:03:08 Speaker 4: It's also you could put a British twang on it. Yeah, I say it's slightly British, but I think I like twat. 00:03:13 Speaker 2: Wow. See now you're taking it. Yeah, that's what you're just. 00:03:15 Speaker 4: Twat by itself sounds almost playful and well. 00:03:17 Speaker 1: Douche twat kind of works because you can use that in all kindergarten company, you know what I mean. Little kids can say douchewat. It's the new thing. It's the new six seven is douche twat. 00:03:26 Speaker 3: I will not be my kids that one. 00:03:32 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:03:32 Speaker 2: By the way, this entire pre shiow jetter is just going to be silenced with the. 00:03:35 Speaker 3: Occasional no, twat doesn't need to be. 00:03:37 Speaker 2: Bleeped, Okay it does. 00:03:39 Speaker 3: No twat does not, and I don't think douche does. So douche Twat also doesn't need to be I'm guessing they're going to, oh, yeah, that's that's baked. 00:03:47 Speaker 2: I'm not sure i've ever heard you say that. Well, no, man, I think i've heard you say it once or twice. 00:03:50 Speaker 3: Daniell, Yeah, there's there's one person I have you. There's one person I've said it about for sure. Douche Twat is actually headlining Coachella. I don't know if you know that. 00:04:08 Speaker 1: Oh my god, to be a perfect douche Twat band, you'd have to do house music New Merch. 00:04:14 Speaker 4: Merchant. 00:04:15 Speaker 3: Speaking of house music, I have to tell you, guys, we went to Adler's best friend, Damien, had his seventh birthday party. By the way, they did a six seven It was is six turning seven, okay, And it was there. It was in this place. It was like Deep Valley, and I was like, what where did they Where did they even find this place? And it was called glows Vibes. 00:04:44 Speaker 2: And I was like, is this you walk out with booty dust? 00:04:47 Speaker 3: What kind of kind of party is this Glows Vibes? And I was and it's like g l O dou w Z Vibes and the double is part of the Z it's like the It was just it was crazy and I was like, what is this place? And you walk in it's all dim The walls are painted with very cool graphics with glow in the dark paint. Okay, it's an indoor play place that has you know, slides and like a trampoline and all that. 00:05:19 Speaker 2: And you just heard over those speakers, Cinnamon to the main stage. Cinnamon to the main stage. 00:05:25 Speaker 3: Now they had a big open space. There was a DJ playing great music, and then in the open space they did musical chairs for the kids. Then when the kids were done, they did musical chairs for the adults, and they played all like nineties and eighties music for the adults, and then they did streamers, silver streamers kind of like tinsel, but wide thick tinsel, tons of it. They stood in a corner with a blower like a you know flower, than you turned it on and then threw the tinsel in front of it and it was like a rave tinsel flying everywhere. Kids just dancing their foul heads off, parents then picking up the tinsel, throwing it everywhere. It's going. It's absolutely insane. It was a kid's rave. It was a kid wrave birthday party, and I have never had so much fun at a birthday party. 00:06:34 Speaker 2: It sounds it sounds like amazing. 00:06:35 Speaker 1: They probably give little kid doses of ecstasy, just small ones, yeah, a little small, just under the. 00:06:40 Speaker 4: Top big and then just showing their face off. So much fun. 00:06:50 Speaker 2: I just can't stop tickling Elmo. This is the best. 00:07:00 Speaker 4: That's a great idea. 00:07:01 Speaker 2: Though a kid rave, every kid probably went home and passed out like you. 00:07:05 Speaker 3: Juster was asleep in thirty seconds in the car. Jensen sent me a picture. 00:07:10 Speaker 2: He was like this. 00:07:12 Speaker 4: Just absolutely all raves were is an excuse to be a seven year old agues. I know, it's like the whole idea. It was just like, oh, be a child. 00:07:21 Speaker 3: And I as an adult who has now gone to many a kid birthdays, they're not for us, They're not fun. You're very much like this is one of the things you do for your children so that they can enjoy. I had so much fun. It was great. So anyway, shout out to glows Vibes. Welcome to pod meets World. I'm Daniel Fishl I'm right or strong. 00:07:43 Speaker 2: And I'm a douche twat. I'm wild. 00:08:00 Speaker 3: Today we are recapping season seven, episode six. They're Killing Us. It originally aired October twenty ninth, nineteen ninety nine. The synopsis Corey and Topanga reveal the ups and downs of planning their wedding, including drama surrounding the best man and her dress hating bridesmaids. It was directed by our very own William Rusty Russ rust Day. It was written by David Brownfield, a former podcast guest who went from our studio executive to show writer. He is a great guy who spent a lot of his post boy meets World career inside the Dick Wolf universe. We only have one guest start today, so I'm going to read the guest start, then we can jump into our overall thoughts. Guest starring Megan Faye as Juji Habefoe. A seasoned character actor out of Second City in Chicago. She has an extensive and impressive resume and is still working today. She's been on Roseanne Gilmore Girls, Freaks and Geeks, Malcolm in the Middle, and played Chelsea's mom on Two and a Half Men. She also appeared in movies like Barton Fink and PTA's Magnolia, That's Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia, but most recently was a regular on the Apple TV Show with Maya Rudolph Loot. So overall, thoughts, I really enjoyed it. 00:09:17 Speaker 4: Yeah, I really liked it. 00:09:18 Speaker 1: Like I kind of wish every episode this season had this vibe going in, if we're gonna go crazy, let's go crazy. 00:09:25 Speaker 2: It was fun. 00:09:27 Speaker 1: It was Ben is so over the top hysterical in this You Danielle are absolutely hysterical in this episode. 00:09:35 Speaker 2: I would have loved I would have. 00:09:37 Speaker 1: Killed to see two seasons or three seasons of this Corey and Tebanga. I thought it was just twenty two minutes of total fun and it and then it ends with Susan crying next to me because the wedding's coming next to it. 00:09:48 Speaker 2: I mean, it was like it was a great episode. I really enjoyed it. 00:09:50 Speaker 1: Ooh writer. 00:09:53 Speaker 4: I thought it was like structurally really fun. Yeah. I love the idea of like the interviews and there's something about like you and Ben getting to do that kind of acting. What was really fun to see It was like that when Harry met Sally opening like just like off the and like I love that. I feel like the bits themselves could have been more based around the characters. Yeah, like it just didn't like Southern Bell wedding. 00:10:18 Speaker 2: Oh no, I've given up on the kit. You can't think. 00:10:21 Speaker 4: But it was distracting because it's like, you could have this exact same idea and do it in a way where it feels true to their characters. 00:10:29 Speaker 2: Any Fower children. 00:10:31 Speaker 4: Yes, if she wants everybody to dress like it's the nineteen sixties, you know, and it's tied I crown Flower, it would have been exactly the same story, but it would have been true to Tapanga and and even like Eric, like when by the time you're proposing to her, I was like, but isn't there a version of this that makes more sense for like Eric and Tapana like it? But it didn't, I know, But so I guess I just you know, I don't know. Yes, it was fun because it was so out of like left field, and I love the structure, but I just wish it had been a little more true to like the actual people instead of calling back on Yeah. 00:11:07 Speaker 1: I think we have to realize that for season seven they've just completely thrown the characters out. 00:11:11 Speaker 3: The word different characters, completely. 00:11:14 Speaker 2: Different characters, and just going for the jokes in the Beast. 00:11:16 Speaker 4: But it's just such an easy reawrite, you know, like you could have had the same jokes but have them built around things we've already established. But it was fun. It definitely had fun. 00:11:25 Speaker 3: I literally laughed out loud a couple of times. Yeah, I feel exactly the same way writer. I definitely thought, well, there is very this is very funny, and every bride at some point does have something where you go, wow, I had you told me I was going to care so much about this thing, I would not have believed you. Maybe I have lost my mind a little bit. Maybe I need to like reevaluate here. And I love the idea that Tapango would be obsessed with some dress that everyone else can't stand. So, yeah, it's so funny. I think it's really great. But Southern Bell is just not her vibe, is not what she would have ever, of course loved, and so I loved that whole storyline, but would have agreed that there's more things. I just goffawed at the chapin down the door room, that chopping down the dorm room you with the fires in this episode made me laugh so much, and right or to your point, you're right, had they done something where I mean, I guess we have seen Eric make some silly moves with Topanga and whatever, like we've seen them have this dynamic before, but they could have definitely done where Eric thinks one of the best man's responsibilities is something that very clearly isn't and have had him do that instead something that really ruins something for Topanga or is crossing a boundary in some other way. 00:13:00 Speaker 1: Yep. 00:13:01 Speaker 4: But overall overall, I think hysterical in this episode. Oh Michael, my god, everybody everybody's well, I'm like barely in it. I felt like it was a weird toss up, Like but I think I'm a big part of the next episode, so it makes sense that Sean sort of pushed aside. But like, yeah, I thought Trina was really good. But even like even Betsy's wedding dress was like a little like out of care. I love the idea, but what if it's like instead it's like actually a very sexy dress and like it's really inappropriate. That would actually feel more like do you know what I mean? Like there's just it said it was like a full on like I don't know, it was just there was just it was all the right ideas, just not the specific choices that I would have liked. But fine, that's. 00:13:44 Speaker 3: Well, you know why they couldn't have put me in a very revealing dress because Michael would have been absolutely disgusted by how fat I was in a dress. 00:13:56 Speaker 2: Do you think that's what it was? 00:13:57 Speaker 3: That's why you never see tapeg his arms? 00:14:01 Speaker 2: Really? 00:14:02 Speaker 3: Never again I wear a long sleeve wedding dress. Betsy's dress has sleeves down to the elbows. 00:14:09 Speaker 4: Never was this actually told to you, like, oh no, it. 00:14:12 Speaker 3: Was just very apparent. Everything I tried on was always like and then what cardigan are you putting on over that? And then what sweater are you wearing over that? Really everything so never they never would have done it, which, by the way, it definitely we have seen missus Matthews bease she leans towards the side of sex us. 00:14:28 Speaker 4: That's what I thought. It would have been funny if it's like, but instead it's like this weird like uh, you know, Amish dress or something you know with like a head thing, And I get like the joke, but it's like, the point is it's this different taste, and that taste should reflect the characters, right, Like if the joke is they have bad taste or taste that doesn't you know connect You could do that based on who these people are and it would be so much better. 00:14:50 Speaker 2: But whatever, none of us are our characters. Literally, Rusty's not his character. 00:14:55 Speaker 3: It's like we're just new characters this season. 00:14:59 Speaker 2: Different. 00:14:59 Speaker 4: I feeni with the like the horn, which is kind of funny. 00:15:03 Speaker 1: Oh, it's all funny bits, but nobody is that there's nobody is the same character. 00:15:08 Speaker 3: Bill print out of the still faster than me. I was dying. It's it was really funny. So yeah, I mean even though we're even though we have some you know, nitpicks. 00:15:20 Speaker 2: Yeah, overall totally different, totally different characters, but funny episode. 00:15:24 Speaker 3: Yeah. I was not in any way vomiting on myself like it happened the last couple of weeks. So no vomiting, no vomiting this time. So jumping into our recap, we have a close up of Corey and Ta Panga sitting on a couch looking very serious, with only stark blackness behind them. Topanga talks to someone off camera. We've come to you because we have a very big problem. We had no idea planning a wedding was going to be so difficult Corey compares the process to writing a pogo stick in a minefield. Boom boying, boom boying. 00:16:05 Speaker 4: What a weird joke. I loved it. It's so random. Do you remember doing these bits, Danielle, Yes, it was actually in the living are having fun? 00:16:15 Speaker 3: So much fun? It was, it was it wasn't the whole thing. 00:16:18 Speaker 2: Okay, I couldn't remember. 00:16:19 Speaker 4: If they just can tell that you and Pan were like just relaxed and having so much because it was like, you're able to be humans in a way that we often weren't. Like acting wise, you aren't able to you know, in a sitcom, you're like in a stagy situation. But this is like lock camera just talking and being like humans. 00:16:34 Speaker 1: It's Cory is all of a sudden just an old Jewish man, so fun and it works like it's great And Danielle, the playing eye each other thing. 00:16:43 Speaker 4: You guys have to like the ability to play off each other and like keep it. Oh, I wanted to see this, Gory and Tobago, I want to see this, yeh. 00:16:50 Speaker 3: I know it was really fun. I remember this week being great and I remember, you know, just to balance it out because I have always shared when people were not happy with my performances. I remember this week when they wrote the I twitch thing, which I don't think was in the original script. I think it was something that was added because you could just do it like yeah, And I remember that right off the bat, so cool being able to do it and everyone just had it was like a big laugh and everyone was like, oh my gosh, this is great. And so it was one of those weeks where I felt confident. I felt I felt empowered, I tributed, I contributed, and that people were happy with my performance, and so I felt good about myself this week. Well, I was definitely still fat. There's no world where they were not going to let me feel. I was never going to be thin for the nineties standards and for the preferences of our white male writer's room. But I could occasionally be funny, funny, so good. 00:17:58 Speaker 2: I was always funny, So it didn't matter that I was fair. 00:18:00 Speaker 3: Yeah no, they well, yeah, and as a man, you're just not any no matter what you look like. 00:18:07 Speaker 2: It just didn't matter. 00:18:07 Speaker 3: Just your inherent value is in your penis. 00:18:11 Speaker 2: So well, thank you. It's about time someone noticed. 00:18:21 Speaker 1: I always call my penis the shocking off because at first they're shocked, and they're like. 00:18:25 Speaker 3: Oh, how long have you been sitting on that joke? Oh? 00:18:28 Speaker 4: God? 00:18:29 Speaker 2: Since shocking? Was that the nineties? When did we invade Iraq the first time? 00:18:36 Speaker 4: Oh? 00:18:37 Speaker 3: My gosh. We quickly cut to a location less startling for the show. We're in the girl's apartment. Topanga is buried in tomorrow's bride magazine, impatiently tapping her finger on its spine. She abruptly closes it. Come on, what's taking you guys so long? When no one appears, immediately, she claps her hands and shouts, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on. I heard Michael in that. 00:19:02 Speaker 2: Just of course, I. 00:19:04 Speaker 3: Just knew exactly I heard that. I heard that. This week. With that, Angela and Rachel stomp into the room wearing giant pink dresses with puffy sleeves, purple bow accents, and a matching floppy hat. Think deep South, Little bo Peep, Barbie and the girls are not stoked to be wearing it to Pega is in shock. Then she starts to tear up. Those are the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen. Rachel looks at Angela in horror. 00:19:34 Speaker 2: Don't you think. 00:19:34 Speaker 3: Maybe you're a little too emotional to make the right decision about this. To PEG's unfazed, she just reiterates how beautiful the dresses are, until Angela just gives up, knowing there's no way to change her mind. To Pega wonders, where's Morgan. I want to see how beautiful my future sister looks. Rachel calls her into the living room, sarcastically adding share the joy. So Morgan comes walking out in the same get up, somehow a little less offensive. So the inmates aw at how adorable it kind of looks. She disagrees and bluntly asks Tapanga, what are you, psycho that. Topanga is adamant that she looks beautiful. Morgan assures her, we look like clowns. Angela tries to lessen the blow beautiful clowns. Rachel chimes in circ to selet clowns. Morgan argues, no horn honking, big shoe wearing clowns good. 00:20:22 Speaker 4: So I just love If Morgan's a truth teller's. 00:20:26 Speaker 3: Like, I'm not gonna do this. 00:20:28 Speaker 4: I'm over it, I'm done. 00:20:29 Speaker 3: The rest of these people don't love you. No one's telling you the truth. 00:20:32 Speaker 4: I wish they just always written her character this way. I mean those insinuations of it earlier. You know that she's sarcastic, but like if she just walked into every scene and was like, you're you're crazy, Corey, you're an idiot, Eric, you're. 00:20:44 Speaker 3: Terrible boyfriend, You're gonna lose her. 00:20:46 Speaker 4: Yes, it would have been a great, like voice of reason to always be able to just have her like this. It's so funny. Oh my god. 00:20:52 Speaker 3: The girls try to get her to calm down, but Morgan just tells Rachel to shut up and defiantly tells Tapanga, I ain't wearing it. We returned to that black background couch with Tapanga and Corey. The soon to be bride admits, okay, so you know, there was a little controversy over the bridesmaid's dresses, but I really thought if I just expressed my feelings, everyone would understand. Then we're back in the girl's apartment. Topanga is twirling a lacy umbrella parasol that matches the girl's poofy outfits in an attempt to convince them of its beauty. And the best part is that after the wedding, you guys are obviously gonna want to wear these dresses over and over again, which, if you guys don't know because you've never been a bridesmaid in a wedding, is absolutely one of the things that is said while planning a wedding and trying to talk to your bridesmaids about their dresses. Is it's worth it? Why don't you pick one that you're gonna want to wear again? Never you will never wear it again, Which is why for my wedding, I said, wear whatever black dress you want, right, just. 00:21:55 Speaker 4: Pick a color and sort of. 00:21:56 Speaker 3: And by the way, pick a dress you do want to we again, wear a dress you already have. I don't care as long as you guys are all in the same color. And even some people now don't even do the same color now you do like we're in the nudes tone. Pick anything that you like that looks good on your body, as long as it all like is in the same color. Wheel family. But yeah, this has changed a lot over the years to modernize what we expect of the people who love us enough to be in our weddings. When you guys were watching this, did you half expect the parasol to get stuck? And for me, to trip over something in the corner. 00:22:29 Speaker 2: Just seen it so many times. 00:22:32 Speaker 3: Our season seven blooper reel includes this scene, and for those of you who've come to our live show, you are aware of that. But i really wanted to see it happen because I'm just so used to seeing it now. Morgan angrily Shimmy's out of the dress and starts hitting it with her parasol. Die dress Die. I love that the dress also came with the appropriate undergarments. 00:22:54 Speaker 4: It was like it was period. 00:22:56 Speaker 3: It was a period piece. Angela and Rachel pull her away from the innocent dress, hoping to calm her down, while to Panga watches on in horror and Lindsay's so good in this, Like you can tell she was like still trying to go for it as they were yanking her away, like she was very passionately hitting the stress with Morgan reined in, Angela and Rachel check on Topanga to make sure she's doing okay. They take turns carefully breaking the news to her that even though the dresses are lovely, the girls might not be lovely enough for the dresses to Penga glares at them knowingly, just cut the crap at least Morgan was honest, true, true. She pushes past her poofy bridesmaids. If you can't put on these dresses and get caught up in the magic of my Southern bell wedding, then who needs y'all? Which great? Great writing? 00:23:46 Speaker 2: Great? 00:23:46 Speaker 3: Yeah, wish I could have acted it better, but really good writing. 00:23:49 Speaker 2: Oh no, the acting was great. 00:23:51 Speaker 3: Oh thanks, I thought I could have I feel like I could have done it. I could have taken one more take. She bursts into tears, and Morgan approaches her with no remorse. You're from Philadelphia, a stupid Morgan with her, she's really driving it home. 00:24:04 Speaker 2: She is. 00:24:05 Speaker 3: She called me psycho and stupid. In one scene, we freeze and then we're back on the couch. In the Abyss, Corey is surprised a Southern fel wedding. Huh when did we decide on that? Tapanga emphasizes that every wedding needs a theme. Corey patiently asks for what reason my darling, and Topega simply answers because it does. He still doesn't understand. Repeating the question, and Topanga reveals she wants the theme to be gone with the wind, Corey isn't sold. Frankly, my dear, that's not the theme I want. If they need a theme, he suggests have a nash with Corey. 00:24:38 Speaker 2: And he's always doing this and to Panga though. 00:24:50 Speaker 3: So funny. Tapega looks off camera and complaints, do you see what I'm dealing with here? Plus we have a guest list of two seventy two. 00:25:00 Speaker 2: And seventy people. 00:25:01 Speaker 4: Oh that's like that's gigantic, massive, yeah, insane, but I mean, is it I don't know, like yes, so long. 00:25:11 Speaker 3: My first wedding was very big. It was two hundred and twenty people. Oh my god, that's me knowing that's all the people we worked with, Like that's that's every family member with a plus one. That's massive. 00:25:25 Speaker 4: Yeah, I had East Coast more, East Coast more. Traditional weddings are very big though, Like yeah, I know that, Like, you know, my wife's Italian family, Like people have huge get like a giant hall in Jersey, you know, and it's like packed and it's all about the dancing and like, but I mean, almost everybody I know here on the West coast like one hundred people. 00:25:50 Speaker 1: My wedding with Jensen was one hundred yes, yeah, yeah, we stopped it we capped it like we I think invited sixteen assuming some people because we had a destination wedding work and a fly and everybody came. 00:26:00 Speaker 2: And I was like, oh my god, everybody, everybody came. It was great. It was great. 00:26:03 Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean you just you don't even like get to talk to I mean even at one hundred people, like I felt like I barely got to talk to anybody. Yeah, exactly, I can imagine two fifty or seventy. Is that what they say? 00:26:13 Speaker 2: Yeah, all that seats eighty. It's not even close, not even remotely. 00:26:18 Speaker 3: It's not even like, okay, we've really got some trimming. 00:26:20 Speaker 2: Yeah, no, exactly. 00:26:21 Speaker 4: I guess is like the most popular person at school, right, true. Every woman who wants him, every woman Missy Robinson. 00:26:29 Speaker 2: Robinson's going to be there. 00:26:30 Speaker 1: I'm sure there's a wrestler too that are going to be attendee k is gonna come to be there. 00:26:35 Speaker 3: Yes, I mean believe he's going to be there, going to be there, ye. Corey chimes in. And a hall that seats eighty, Tapanga admits we're not panicking because we know a lot of people won't show. Corey ads and many of the old people have shrunk. He tears up. I'm miss Grandpa Poppy. No one should die in prison? 00:26:55 Speaker 4: What okay? Now this is actually consistent because isn't the Grandpa Poppy the one that he cries or do you cry about in the Christmas episode? Do you remember like we did a whole Grandpa Poppy? 00:27:07 Speaker 3: Yeah, there is a Grandpa Poppy. There's a car back, but. 00:27:10 Speaker 4: Yeah, what he remember? 00:27:12 Speaker 2: Who did it? 00:27:13 Speaker 4: I think it's you Will. I think there's like an Eric storyline crying about Poppy with really rusty. Doesn't that sound familiar? 00:27:19 Speaker 3: I think it's Ben. I think it's I think so. I think there's another Grandpa Poppy. 00:27:25 Speaker 4: Oh god, but I don't remember him being. 00:27:27 Speaker 3: In prison, and like, no one should die in prison? Do we agree with that statement? Or like should some people die in prison? Depending on what Grandpa Poppy did? I could maybe understand the argument. What is he in for? 00:27:42 Speaker 4: Yeah? 00:27:46 Speaker 3: But Tapanga is still confident. However, while everyone else has been going crazy over this wedding, we at least have been keeping it together. Set up, set up, And then we're in the student union. Corey's reading the newspaper next to Topanga when she excited mentions for our honeymoon. Corey quickly puts the paper down. Now all ears. He sings, honeymoon. 00:28:07 Speaker 4: Is this a reference to something or it's just saying honeymoon? 00:28:13 Speaker 2: I think that's just been Ya's so funny. 00:28:15 Speaker 4: Because when I heard it, I was like, oh, yeah, that was like a recurring joke. But I didn't know if it was a reference to like a previous show or another movie or something. So we just did this. 00:28:22 Speaker 1: Yehs, he's excited to just have sex finally after twenty two years or however old he is. 00:28:26 Speaker 3: Now. Yeah, I will say this scene gave me the ick. 00:28:29 Speaker 1: It does, of course the ones. It's super icky, but you kind of forget about. 00:28:33 Speaker 3: It, not even because of the conversation between Corey and Penga totally fine, like fine, you want to have this discussion. Great, the fact that he gets up and yells it to the room full of people, and. 00:28:43 Speaker 4: Well, did you notice that they had to add like a music cue to soften its jurist music. It's it's actually our music cue that ends a scene is playing in the middle of this scene when he's screaming at you, and it's and you realize they had to do it because otherwise it's chilling, it's like weird. It's like Corey dude, like yeah, clock down, but they yeah, it's so real. I was like, I actually went back and played it twice because I was like, what is with this random music cue? And it's like the only way they could soften what it is otherwise like a very weird moment. 00:29:14 Speaker 3: Like yeah, it's weird. 00:29:15 Speaker 2: Yeah, and they also are We've talked about this. 00:29:17 Speaker 1: They are also very much insinuating with him getting up and saying, let me touch something that they've literally just kissed for seventeen years. 00:29:24 Speaker 2: That's it. Nothing else. 00:29:27 Speaker 3: There's a lot of weird music cues this season. There's a lot of I don't necessarily know that they're all weird, but there are a lot of. 00:29:33 Speaker 4: More music just more a lot of juice interesting. 00:29:36 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, this is the. 00:29:37 Speaker 4: Only one that really stood out to me. I was like, what is happening? And then I was like, no, it's because I think if you if you were to pull the music cue, it would be it would it would be the weird scene that it actually is. 00:29:48 Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, and well, really what. 00:29:49 Speaker 4: It is is there's no reason for for to Panga to like suddenly find it cute. Do you know what I mean? Like, because she like goes from like, no, I'm about to like, you're such a man. I know, guy, Yeah, it's like it's I don't know what that you know, it's not cute. He's screaming to an entire room of people, like it's actually very uncomfortable. 00:30:12 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's pretty weird. So she's been thinking, how about trekking in Peru, scuba diving in the Caribbean, or river rafting down the Colorado. Corey stammers, it's not necessary, She huffs, I've made a ton of suggestions and you don't like any of them. He says it's because she hasn't mentioned the one place he wants to go to. Pego wonders where that is, and Corey slyly responds, you know. 00:30:36 Speaker 4: That's a better joke. 00:30:37 Speaker 2: Actually wants to population And. 00:30:41 Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, I don't, but like she's gonna be there no matter where. I okay, I don't even really get the I don't quite understand the thing. He could just be like, listen, honey, I'm happy to go wherever you want, as long as we're going to have a room in a place you pick, that's what I want. Great conversation over. 00:31:04 Speaker 2: I can bang you on a river. I can beg scuba. Div doesn't matter. 00:31:07 Speaker 4: Fine, that says, we can like it's fine. 00:31:10 Speaker 3: Yeah, so it's like yes, So I don't really know why this is even why this is even a yeah, a conflict. She's annoyed and Corey just demands I want it to peg is now concerned. I'm beginning to think that this wedding is just a prelude to sex for you. So okay, I guess, I guess had he just said that there's the conflict? She which, honey, have you not understood that over? You actually ever heard a word he said about you or to you? 00:31:37 Speaker 4: I never doesn't care about you at all. 00:31:40 Speaker 3: No, Corey sarcastically counters, that's brilliant, Sherlock. I mean to Panga wonders, is he only marrying her to consummate their relationship? And Corey shouts out me and nine hundred million other guys. 00:31:59 Speaker 1: So so the only reason to get married, it's. 00:32:05 Speaker 4: Guys, is to have sex, and that should be understood. That that's all right. Yeah, let's throw up. I don't know CoA Romeo and Juliette. 00:32:13 Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. 00:32:16 Speaker 4: Ay from it. Let's just for the joke. Whatever. 00:32:19 Speaker 2: Weird, Yeah, weird. The rest of it's funny, and there's fire later, so yeah. 00:32:23 Speaker 3: Exactly, so it's okay. Topeka is beginning to think he'd just be fine if they spent their honeymoon in any old hotel. Corey shrugs, or in the road to Pega, stands up and shouts, that's sick. Offended, Corey addresses the entire room. You know what's sick everyone. We have been in a relationship for seventeen years, and. 00:32:43 Speaker 4: Do you children for most of that? This is a disturbing Yes, he expected to get three years old to be making out. 00:32:51 Speaker 3: Yep, that's what he wanted. And do you know what I've gotten in all that time? He turns to Topanga and screams in desperation, let me touch something. We get a very odd transition, quickly flashing to Corey and to Panga watching themselves from the Black Abyss, only to return to their fight in the student union. Nothing like this has ever happened on boy Me's world before. We've never done We've never done this, like whoop and then back Yeah, Corey asks her, do you understand that you owe me when you read the words out loud own? Topanga says yes, well at least you got it. So he asks if she intends to pay him. 00:33:35 Speaker 4: So they exchange is because he's marrying her or he's agreed to make cut. 00:33:40 Speaker 3: No, she owes him because for it. For seventeen years he has been her boyfriend and she hasn't put out, and she hasn't put out. Now that they're getting married, it's time to pay him. 00:33:53 Speaker 2: And Tapega's like, I know, I know that. 00:33:56 Speaker 4: She's like, you're so cute. 00:33:57 Speaker 2: It's the cutest thing ever. 00:33:59 Speaker 4: Yeah, k dark. 00:34:03 Speaker 3: She nods, so he clarifies in the road, and then she agrees to do it in the road, and he finally asks, and you'll call me Don Francisco. 00:34:18 Speaker 2: Just a funny line. It's a funny line. 00:34:20 Speaker 1: It's a horrible, creepy scene with a couple funny bits in it, because Ben's so funny. 00:34:26 Speaker 3: And then she laughs before divulging yes. He tests her, yes who She grins and corrects herself, yes, Don Francisco, and he lated Corey grabs her head and kisses her cheek. All right, I'll marry you and with that he prances away, leaving Tapanga shaking her head. He's so adorable, smiling. 00:34:51 Speaker 2: Best scene we've ever done, So great, and the Emmy goes to. 00:34:58 Speaker 3: Back on the couch. Corey into Pang admit that was just the beginning. In fact, things got a lot worse, especially when Corey had to decide who his best man would be. It came down to his brother or his best friend. And then we're in the guy's dorm as he finishes up studying, Sean tells Corey, as far as the wedding goes, I'm sure you're under a lot of pressure for the whole best man situation. Corey admits he's been wanting to talk to him about that, but Sean makes the decision for him. You should ask Eric. I think it's the right thing to do. 00:35:26 Speaker 2: It is, by the way, but it is. 00:35:29 Speaker 1: It totally is if you have brothers, your brothers, brother your brother's your best man, and it's not even best man. 00:35:34 Speaker 2: What you do is you just have everybody stand up with you. 00:35:36 Speaker 1: You have your brothers, you have your friend, everybody just anybody at your wedding. 00:35:40 Speaker 4: Did you will No? 00:35:40 Speaker 2: I have my two brothers. 00:35:41 Speaker 4: You did, Oh? 00:35:42 Speaker 1: Yeah, party, and then I went by age, so Gary held the ring because he was the oldest. 00:35:47 Speaker 2: But yeah, and Greg did the same thing. You have. 00:35:49 Speaker 1: If you have brothers that's and you're close to them at all, those are the people that stand right next to you. 00:35:54 Speaker 2: And then you have your friends up there as well. 00:35:55 Speaker 1: I mean you could it could easily have been Eric and Sean right next to each other without a problem. So but Sean's right, It's like, it's the right thing to do. You gotta ask your. 00:36:03 Speaker 4: Brother, right, if your brother's Eric. I mean, that's the whole point of this episode. I know, but that's the safe that's your brother's funny though, you know. 00:36:10 Speaker 3: But like think about now, I do. If you come from a family where warts and all family's family, family over everything, you're going to be like, no matter what, you know, your brothers will be in your life, then it probably is the smartest move because I do always think it's sad when you look back at a wedding picture and you're like, I don't talk to any of those people anymore, Right, I'm not friends with any of the people that stood up there with me in that wedding party. And if you're you're fit. You have family, you and you are that type of family. You could probably say they will always be there. I'll always at least have my brothers. With that said, if you are in a situation where you and your brother do not get along, that's and you're only you only have a relationship with your brother because your parents would be devastating for you. But like, once your parents are gone, you're never going to speak to them again. Then I think you are in a situation and you have a best friend who's like a Sean who they've known since the Lama pen, who is like family. That was actually one of the things that kind of bothered me about this episode is that they were so mad about it being Sean, and I think the conversation, even though they still would have had a preference for Amy and Allen to be like, we think it should be your brother. I could actually at least in this situation, See, we understand why this is a tough choice. 00:37:30 Speaker 1: For you, But I think it's only a tough choice because of how close he is to Sean, meaning yeah, yeah, Corey and Eric always got along, like Eric was always essentially a good brother. 00:37:39 Speaker 4: The tough choice is that Eric is going to mess it up in some way, which so that's a comedy. Might forget comed it's so funny, man. Yeah, I think it's great. I think it's a bit and I like that Sean doesn't really care Sean. It's like, no, dude, it's fine, it's cool, you know, because he would he would be like it. 00:37:55 Speaker 1: Yeah, Like if if Sean gets married, my guess is Sean isn't going to ask Jack to be his best friend because he's forgotten for three seasons that they're even brothers. 00:38:05 Speaker 2: Yes, but but he would ask Corey. 00:38:07 Speaker 1: But it's different with Corey and Eric, who lived together, who worked together, in the same room together. 00:38:12 Speaker 2: I mean, that's that's got to be your best Yeah. 00:38:14 Speaker 4: It was a little sad when I think about Girl Mats World that, like, Sean and Jack never talk to each other, like, and Sean gets married. 00:38:22 Speaker 2: Yeah, Eric wasn't there either. Thanks for the invite, bro. 00:38:25 Speaker 3: Yeah, well I think I think you had contractually said you only wanted to do one episode. 00:38:32 Speaker 2: That's what it was. 00:38:34 Speaker 3: The wedding didn't fit into that. 00:38:35 Speaker 2: So God. 00:38:37 Speaker 3: They were back with the couple on the couch. Corey Wax is poetic about Sean my best friend, my absolute best friend who I love. Tapega begs him to get on with it. I'm not sure why I'm not. I'm not. 00:38:50 Speaker 2: Maybe because she's harping on how much he loves Sean. Is that what? 00:38:53 Speaker 3: That's the only thing I But it's delivered so sweetly. It's like, we get it, honey, just move on as opposed like we get it, you know. 00:39:00 Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. 00:39:01 Speaker 4: I was justance. 00:39:03 Speaker 3: I guess if that if it was supposed to be a. 00:39:05 Speaker 4: Joke, it should have been more of an eye roll, like exactly, it. 00:39:08 Speaker 3: Should have been like we hear this all the time, but Topeka's never had that's not that's not a thing for Topanga until Girl Meets World. 00:39:15 Speaker 4: I think it's it's next episode, though. I think the actual wedding becomes about how it Corey and Sean are the real relationship, and Topanga feels cut out. I think that's so we're already I think they already knew that. 00:39:28 Speaker 3: Okay, all right, Yeah, you're right, that hasn't been the Dynamic's not that's not the dynamic. 00:39:33 Speaker 4: The dynamic is where we. 00:39:34 Speaker 2: Established that dynamic. 00:39:35 Speaker 4: That's because I remember during Girl Meets World being a little confused. 00:39:37 Speaker 3: By me too, being that show was like all about. 00:39:41 Speaker 4: Him ignoring you to be with me, and yeah and retro that hasn't happened this entire show. 00:39:46 Speaker 3: No, as a matter of fact, to Panga encourages their friendship and loves their relationship, and yeah, I've never It's never. 00:39:54 Speaker 4: Even when I'm cheating on my girlfriend with Corey, it's always about my he's not letting to is actually helping us get back. 00:40:02 Speaker 3: To Yeah, yeah, I stand up for you guys, I'm like so interesting. So it's never. That's never. That's why I'm saying I didn't when I saw this, I didn't think, oh, that was a bad performance. I thought, why did they need to paying get to shut him up? Why couldn't it just be a quick blurb? But we've already done these quick blurbs. Why couldn't he just say my best friend, my absolute best friend who I love, Sean's the greatest guy there is And then we go back to the other thing. Why they need me jumping in? So if that was supposed to be the joke that I was starting to feel jealous, one, that would have been the first time we've seen it, and two definitely needed a different performance. 00:40:36 Speaker 4: It's interesting because when we went to ATX, that television. 00:40:40 Speaker 3: Festival when my best friend Jamie got married, and I wasn't there yet, right. 00:40:44 Speaker 4: So you weren't there. But Michael did a talk like a like a Q and a an extended thing about writing in his career, and it was really interesting because he talked about a lot of things that I didn't know, like his past and stuff. But one of the things he said is that his favorite theme that he goes back to all time and time again is the conflict. The comedy that can come from the conflict between best friends and a girlfriend or a romantic partner, and that triangle and that sort of idea that like, you know, you have your best friend, but you also have your girlfriend or your wife. And it's interesting because he's talked about how he's written that into all his previous shows, like My Two Dads. It's always that's but and so I always assumed that it was an essential conflict of boy Mee's world, but it's actually hasn't been. 00:41:27 Speaker 3: That's so interesting, No, hasn't hasn't been. I mean, it becomes it clearly, and and I think sometimes it is for uh, maybe for Corey. Corey feels a little torn sometimes between right who who will I spend the time with my best friend or my woman? But Tapanga's never been the problem. Japang has never created the conflict for him. He's felt the conflict about who who do I want to spend this moment with or how do I include them both? 00:41:58 Speaker 1: Right? 00:42:00 Speaker 3: Oh, anyway, we're back in the guy's dorm. Corey tells Sean, you're the greatest guy there is. Shawn assures him it's a new big deal. Eric is his family, his blood, his brother. No bond is more sacred. Corey lets out a deep sigh, letting it sink in that Eric is now his best man. You know he's gonna drop the ring down the minister's pants. Sean nods and dive in right after them. They go through this nightmare scenario, claiming Eric will reach in with both hands, causing the minister to freak out and cough. 00:42:40 Speaker 2: Jen cough and cough. 00:42:43 Speaker 3: Then he'll knock over the candles and set the entire church on fire, which means firefighters show up with their hoses and axes, and ultimately Tapanga would blame Corey. Corey stares off into space, terrified, and I don't get nothing on the honeymoon. Now convince. He asks Sean for one good reason to pick Eric as the best man. We flipped to later. Corey and Eric are in the dorm room and Eric explains, because I'm bigger than he is and stronger than he is, and you flex, which is so funny. Cory wonders why that matters, and Eric's amused. Don't you want somebody who's strong enough to lift you up for the traditional for he's a jolly good fellow dance. Corey's never heard of the dance, so Eric insists he'll show him. They struggle, but eventually Eric. 00:43:28 Speaker 1: This, I remember Ben refuse to jump, refuse to give me anything, was just dead. 00:43:36 Speaker 2: Wait. 00:43:36 Speaker 1: Every time I had to do this, and it was like, dude, help me out. 00:43:42 Speaker 2: He's work makes himself. Yeah, it's like a protester who just goes. 00:43:48 Speaker 4: Limp feet to the ground. 00:43:52 Speaker 2: It's like, my god, dude, help me out a little bit. I'm a big fat guy. Now this is stressed on my heart. Please help me in my giant shirt. So that's you see. 00:44:01 Speaker 3: How big my shirt is, sir, It's way too big. 00:44:03 Speaker 2: Several people in mind you know your shirt is too. 00:44:06 Speaker 3: Big for your You were not fat in any way, shape or form. 00:44:09 Speaker 2: We neither were. You. See you don't believe about yourself, do you? 00:44:13 Speaker 4: Guys are still carrying this weight. 00:44:19 Speaker 2: It makes me sad. 00:44:20 Speaker 4: Guys, neither of you are like overweight by any measure except your teenage body. 00:44:26 Speaker 2: The year before I was overait, slightly overweight. 00:44:30 Speaker 1: Sure by this point my doctor told me I was technically obese. 00:44:34 Speaker 2: No, yes, you hit a certain You hit a certain were all of a sudden you are technical? 00:44:41 Speaker 4: I was you just? Yeah, you could, you could stand to get back to a little bit less than what you were. But like you, look at what you look like two seasons ago, you were super thin. 00:44:52 Speaker 3: So this is just what you look like in more fitted clothes one week earlier. 00:44:56 Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, you're different. Yeah, it's different. Definitely. They were dressing us weird because again I think you're right, Danielle. 00:45:03 Speaker 4: Like the wardrobe took a turn this season. 00:45:05 Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they also. Somebody told them that we're overweight dressing Yeah, call a tent maker. 00:45:13 Speaker 3: Correct. Whatever you do hide their hideous forms, it is, oh guy, absolutely is make them look taller. That's why I'm wearing those giant platform shoes, which I also love, by the way, I'm not trying not shoes. I love those the time, but like make them taller and then just moomoo her up. 00:45:35 Speaker 2: Gets yeah, look like a couple of douche twats. 00:45:43 Speaker 3: They struggle, but Eric eventually lifts him up, bumping foot into a lit candle. Flames erupt onto Corey's curtains. As an underware, Eric bounces his brother up and down on his shoulder, singing for He's a jolly good fellow. The fire alarm starts to blare, and Eric pays it no mind. Corey watches the fire spread, realizing his prediction came true sooner than he thought. Eric finally notices the blaze and starts to sing in the tune of Jolly Goodfellow. The curtains us on fire. 00:46:18 Speaker 2: And then the fastest firefighters and. 00:46:21 Speaker 3: Seconds and they don't even try the door. 00:46:26 Speaker 4: Shut it down. It's so good a big show. I know, on like stunt door to get chopped down fire on set. 00:46:38 Speaker 2: Because they do it to get in the living room. They chop in the living room too. 00:46:42 Speaker 4: But man, what a good bit. So perfectly it's perfectly You're just waiting for it and then play not only once, but they play it out twice. It's so good and it's funny to me. 00:46:52 Speaker 3: It's really funny because even though you say you're waiting for it, you're only waiting for it once you realize it can happen here. Because when they're talking about it in the future at the wedding, you're like, well that the wedding is in this week, so like you're like, oh, I wonder if in the future that will happen. You're not expecting to have an immediate payoff. 00:47:08 Speaker 1: It's so funny and nothing needs explanations, like why Corey's by himself with five lit candles. 00:47:14 Speaker 3: I mean I didn't think that why it was why are there candles lit? But whatever, It's just it is so Corey. He set the mood for himself. Well, he had previously been with Sean, so he was setting the mood for Sean. 00:47:25 Speaker 2: That's what it was. 00:47:27 Speaker 3: Then Corey's door is busted down by a firefighter's axe and Eric quickly recovers they're chomping up the door jumps in on the dorm. 00:47:36 Speaker 4: So good. 00:47:38 Speaker 3: I watched this last night laying on a yoga mat with my legs in the full compression boots that I have because I've been dancing on concrete floors for another week. And uh with so with my compression boots on and my red light masko on, holding my cell phone up over my head, and I just started I just started laughing. Jenson's like, first of all, you weirdo, what are you doing? I'm thinking of all, which part are you laughing at? And I'm lett they're jump into the dorm room. I literally it made me. I had to watch it twice. It's so funny. It was fun Corey continues the melody, now screaming in Eric's face, my brother is a moron. As the firefighters extinguish the fire, Eric caps off the song, which nobody can deny. He starts doing the robot and Corey tackles him onto the bed in rage. These moments, this moment where he tackled you onto the bed, I did. I realized later when we see me tackle you that it was for sure in the script, But the way it looked, did Ben ever used to tackle you guys like this? 00:48:42 Speaker 2: Oh God, all the time? 00:48:43 Speaker 3: Okay? So it just it looked to me like a moment where at the end of the scene, Ben was having fun and just tackled you. And then later when I saw it, I was like, oh no, it wasn't it was it wasn't real. It's a total ways tackle us And it was just like that too, where it was like he do low, low and stiff elf right onto the bed. So then back on the couch. Corey declares, and that's why Sean's my best man. And I don't want to hear anything from anybody a visibly stressed Corey or just a panga to talk. Now, I've got like a rip. Here is my panreas. 00:49:15 Speaker 2: It's so good. Both of you are so good. 00:49:17 Speaker 3: In this episode, Ti Penga tries to comfort him with a massage. He's always so tense. She doesn't know why that is. Corey quips back, No, but you know where the shoe department is. 00:49:29 Speaker 2: I dare still still a woman. 00:49:33 Speaker 3: I didn't understand if this meant and that's why he has a rip in his pancreas or I care more about shoes than him. I don't. I honestly don't get the joke. 00:49:41 Speaker 1: No, So the joke I think is you don't know why he's so stressed. Where it's because he hasn't had sex, but you do know where the shoe department is. 00:49:50 Speaker 2: Okay, that's what I think they were going for. 00:49:52 Speaker 1: It's like, really, you don't know why I'm so stressed because you've never given me any come, but you know where the. 00:49:57 Speaker 2: Shoe department is. I think that's what they were going for. 00:50:00 Speaker 3: Gosh to blame. I'm also to blame for him being so stressed, even though this was all about Eric lighting his dorm room on fire and screwing everything up. But somehow it still has to do with me. Of course, has no opinion, certainly not an important one. You can have one, Yeah, just going. 00:50:20 Speaker 4: To be cute. 00:50:20 Speaker 2: It's just gonna be a cute opinion. 00:50:24 Speaker 3: Tapenga rolls her eyes and asks that they talk about something more positive. Corey wonders what was positive. She suggests the talk he had with his father and how proud he is of his little man. Corey remembers, yeah, Dad and I had some talks, all right. And there's a bit of an optical flip here to the Matthews living room. Alan is yelling at Corey, you chowed Sean as your best man over your own flesh and blood. You're dead to me. Amy comes walking down the stairs. What did I just hear? Corey repeats, you're dead to me. Your husband just said that to your own son. Corey asks, do you have any idea how scarring that is? Amy is horrified, so Alan tells her the best man news, and Amy looks right at Corey and disgust you scum so funny. They urge him to sit down, as Eric, revealed to also be there, agrees Corey is scum. Alan begins a lecture about how their family came to be. He and Amy fell in love, got married, and had a son. Eric appears behind them and gleeful me too, This hole run is amazing. 00:51:24 Speaker 4: You like nuzzy in this arm. 00:51:29 Speaker 3: It's so cute. He gleefully kisses each of their cheeks. Alan continues, we were a family, your mother, me and Eric. Eric adds, and yet there was a void. Alan's guilt trip continues, and Eric wanted a baby brother more than anything else. Eric's voice quivers, I love you, Corey. Corey looks unmoved, but Alan continues, we had you, Corey and Eric had a brother, and the two of you could go through the world together. Amy chimes in looking out for each other, taking care of each other. Alan ads putting each other first, and Eric wraps it up with a bow. That's all I wanted. Finally, Alan tells Corey that if it means anything to him, they'd like Eric to be his best man. Corey sighs and defeat. Yeah, fine, good, whatever you want. Eric is thrilled. Yeah, Eric Matthews best man, I accept my brother. He takes a seat next to Corey. He had a feeling that was going to happen, so he thinks this calls for a celebration. He pulls out a lighter and lights a sparkler. This is the eternal flame of the Love of the Matthews. When the flame gets too close to his fingers, he yells out hot, causing him to throw it onto the floor behind him without a second thought. 00:52:41 Speaker 2: Of course, this was the scene, by the way, where as we're shooting, in the middle of shooting, this was Rusty going okay. Now we all. 00:52:48 Speaker 1: Turn the scene and we're like, Rusty, we're actually filming right now? 00:52:57 Speaker 4: Is it on camera? 00:53:00 Speaker 3: Now? 00:53:00 Speaker 4: We a alter on it. 00:53:03 Speaker 3: It's so funny. Of course, this leads to the curtains catching on fire while Eric nurses his burn. Corey isn't surprise, but Alan and Amy are freaking out. Corey Intopanga from the couch watch the scene unfold. Then firefighters rush in to extinguish the fire. 00:53:18 Speaker 1: This was also Betsy at one point said, you realize we haven't mentioned that we have another child in several episodes? Can I say somebody saved the baby? Somebody saved the baby. Mike was like, yeah, good idea. So that was like, that was the extent of them having another kid. 00:53:34 Speaker 3: Wow, so funny. Then firefighters rush in to extinguish the fire. A panic dennounces he's out, Sean's in. Amy runs upstairs to check on the baby. Here it is the one, maybe only baby mentioned for the last several episodes, yep. As the firefighters chop at doors and the ceiling, don't know how that happened, why they need the ceiling. As they run up the stairs, fire spreads. Eric just smiles and says, spark her fun. Corey once again tackles him, this time freezing before they hit the floor, and then we're back on the couch with Corey and Topanga, and Corey concludes, I have my best man and I'm very happy Topanga admits I'm not, but Corey instantly announces yes, but I am, and I am. Don Francisco Tapega voices her opinion regardless. I know it was supposed to be an honor and everything, but come on. And then we're back at the girl's apartment. Now Amy is the one flipping through the bridle magazine as Morgan sits by in her poofy bridesmaid's dress. Amy echoes to Panga's lack of patience from earlier, shouting, come on, what's taking you so long? When no one appears, she shouts, come on, come on, come on, come on. And then suddenly Tapanga appears in a school marm style wedding dress and a bland headdress. We hear a whimsical tune as she angrily marches down the stairs to Amy. Surprisingly, Amy loves it, Well, you look at that. My wedding dress fits you perfectly. There's no world in what Jamie would dress. Will they ever fit me? Just for the record, not possible. 00:55:06 Speaker 2: By the way. You are so good in this entire episode, but this scene especially. 00:55:12 Speaker 3: Thank you. I thought this scene was really funny. 00:55:14 Speaker 2: You are phenomenal in this scene. 00:55:16 Speaker 1: This is great your facial expression, everything, when you snap at her like, this is a such a wonderfully acted. 00:55:24 Speaker 2: Scene by you. This is a great scene. 00:55:25 Speaker 4: This might be the first time we've passed the Bechdel test. Yeah, two female characters, more than the female characters not talking about a boy or a relationship. They're just talking about the situation you and Morgan having like a bit like it's That's probably why it feels so good. These characters have lives outside of Yeah. 00:55:45 Speaker 3: Well technically Alexandra Nikita and Morgan had that. But I wonder if one since both of them were supposed to be twelve or thirteen, yep, if that even counts, because do we expect even young a five year old to talk about boys? So I don't know that that would necessarily even counts. 00:56:03 Speaker 4: But did they also have a scene by themselves or were they always in the scene with Corey off to the side, Like, I don't think you ever saw them have a scene completely by themselves, did you? 00:56:12 Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. In the kitchen, I thought, yeah, in the kitchen with them, she's not just part of the family for some reason. 00:56:19 Speaker 1: No, but didn't the first scene with the Southern bell dresses that passes the Cagniate lazy test, doesn't it? 00:56:24 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah it does. You're right, So this episode, this episode test. Tapanga glares at Morgan, who just laughs at her future sister in law's discomfort, and then back on the couch, Tapanga kindly admits, I don't want to offend anyone, and my family's feelings are the most important thing to me. And then she turns a bit more harsh. But if she thought I was getting married in that freaking monstrosity, she must have been. 00:56:46 Speaker 2: Hitting the sauce, hitting the sauce. 00:56:49 Speaker 3: I love hitting the sauce. We don't say that enough. No, Corey is not impressed with her choice of words. Very nice, And then we returned to the girl's apartment. Amy explains to Topanga that this has been in her family since the Civil War. To Panga cringes. 00:57:04 Speaker 4: Another civil war references, I know, very funny. 00:57:07 Speaker 2: War's funny. 00:57:08 Speaker 3: I mean it's also so timely. Years later here another civil war? Musty little devil, ain't it? Amy says that every woman in her family that has worn that dress has had a long and healthy life. In fact, except for the engagement ring, which I already gave to you. There is no more important possession that I own. So Amy formally asks, please do me the honor of being married in it. Tapanga's face says it all. She simply lands on. Oh who. 00:57:44 Speaker 4: That's great. 00:57:45 Speaker 2: Reading that's great. 00:57:47 Speaker 3: Morgan stands up and mimics to Panga from earlier. That is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen. Amy is so proud. Oh you're happy for your new sister. That is so sowet eat. Morgan responds, yep, I think she deserves that dress. Topanga looks at her with fire in her eyes and yells. 00:58:08 Speaker 2: Bite me, bite me. That snap was great, And. 00:58:12 Speaker 3: Then on the couch, Tapega shakes her head. I don't know, I just lashed out. It was as if I was possessed by the ghost of your Nana Boo boo. Corey begins to sob oh, Nana Booboo, I miss you, he snaps out of it. Is Nana Booboo dead? Tapega says no, and he quickly composes himself. He continues, and so it was at this crucial point of the chaos, which is our wedding, that we finally decided to regain control and call in a professional. And then We're in Corey and Tepega's wedding hall. A woman stands between Corey and Topanga, explaining in a very proper British Mary Poppins esque accent, when Judy Habbefeld plans your wedding, Judy Hobbefeld is there for you. 00:58:53 Speaker 4: Isn't this like a strange echo of Reginald Fairfield. It's like something about a British character with the funny name saying it, announcing themselves over and over. It's like it's a it's a boy Beats World. 00:59:05 Speaker 3: Trope and it's very funny. I love every second of it. 00:59:08 Speaker 4: I love it because the second I heard her, I was like, this has got to relate to Feoenie in somewhere it came back. I loved it. 00:59:15 Speaker 3: From guest list to guest last and she laughs at herself. From first dance to grand finale. There is no detail too small for Judy Habbifeld to Panka admits, We've heard wonderful things about you, miss Haberfeld. The woman lets out a laugh. Please call me, call me Judy Habifeld. Then Amy and Allen run in and apologize for being late. Alan says, I hope we didn't miss any of the planning, but she couldn't be too far in because my wallet doesn't feel any lighter. He gives his Ed McMahon impression. Hell, we love a good allan impression as. 00:59:57 Speaker 2: You know do it makes no sense for the character, but it's it's just great. 01:00:00 Speaker 3: It's awesome. Judy Haberfeld fan's a laugh. Well that's enough. She pivots to the guest list. The hall seats eighty, but she can't possibly fit more than sixty five with the theme the bride has in mind. Tapenga breaks the news that they invited two hundred and seventy, and Judy lets out a little giggle laugh before ignoring her and changing the conversation completely. She takes a look at her planner. Now I understand that the father of the groom has agreed to pay for the beverages and the music, and with the budget you have allowed me, I have assembled your musical choices. Over there, She motions toward a ragtag group of musicians at the other end of the hall, an old man drinking out of a flask, two Elvis impersonators, a man in a frilly top standing with bongos, a DJ with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. These are a few of the stellar options. Corey sarcastically asks Cruz business a little slow, boys. They all nodded, admit, yeah, Alan whispers to Corey, don't worry, I got you covered. He channels Ed McMahon once again, heyo, hey with that. A trumpet is heard from in the hall. A man in a dark suit and Fedora walks in, impressively blowing the horn. And sure enough, wouldn't you know it, it's mister Feenie. The jazz man finishes his solo and smirks, oh yeah to Panga and Corey beam with fake smiles. Back on the couch, Corey and Pang are still holding the fake smiles, and they ask through their teeth, do you have any idea how hard it is to keep a smile on your face under these circumstances? 01:01:35 Speaker 4: You you're even doing it now? You guys do that very well. 01:01:39 Speaker 3: I can talk with my off closed so well. I could have done an incredible tloquest. 01:01:43 Speaker 4: I can do that. 01:01:44 Speaker 2: I can do that too. Can you not do that? 01:01:45 Speaker 4: Can you not talk with you? 01:01:46 Speaker 3: You can't tell this. 01:01:50 Speaker 2: To do these bees and peas? 01:01:54 Speaker 1: Please see that's oh you would have been a great Vrillo cresties. 01:01:58 Speaker 2: Yeah, that's good. That's a good one, really good. 01:02:01 Speaker 4: I actually thought you guys were too good at it. I thought it looked looped. I was like, wait, are there supposed to be? You and Ben were both we were. 01:02:09 Speaker 2: Good at it. 01:02:10 Speaker 3: We are so so good at it. Back in the wedding hall, the couple is still frozen, smiling and speechless. When Alan asks, isn't it wonderful? George and his jazz group have agreed to be the band at your reception for free? Foenie announces, consider it my present to the bride and groom. Corey admits of Lender would have been just lovely. 01:02:33 Speaker 1: Do you think Bill ever read his script the night before and was like like, I was like, okay, now I'm I'm a jazz guy and I'm coming in. 01:02:41 Speaker 2: It's like okay. 01:02:42 Speaker 3: I think the answer to that is yes, yeah, But he never let us know. 01:02:45 Speaker 4: Of course, performance wise, he's so committed. 01:02:50 Speaker 2: Because because he's a pro, he would never ever let us know that he did episode. 01:02:56 Speaker 4: But he had to like snatch. 01:02:58 Speaker 3: Did you ever went and talked to Michael and was like he did in the pilot that well, yeah, legendary story. 01:03:03 Speaker 1: I know, but I wonder that once we were in the show, maybe he just at this point he was like, it's we're seven years in. 01:03:09 Speaker 4: I think he felt it respect enough, you know. I think it was established that Michael would would protect him like you take care of him. That I think he didn't have to complain that much. 01:03:19 Speaker 2: Yes, that was also really him playing the trumpet. 01:03:23 Speaker 3: I love this sits wearing. 01:03:25 Speaker 2: That's great. 01:03:26 Speaker 3: It's like green dark green. It's really nice. Alan continues, If I can just figure out how to water down the drink so I can get out of this whole thing for about seventy bucks. And then Judy, the wedding planner, sings Phoenie's name, Georgie as she seductively approaches him. Phoene is frozen in the audience. Ooh, Judy continues, Georgie, Phoenie, is that you? Phoenie matters, oh, please know. His back is still turned to her as she reveals it's me Jugie, Horbil Judiel. He turns around and throw his arms in the air. Judy, She corrects him half of e. Phoene insists he was gonna call her, but he moved out of state a mission for the government espionage. All very hush hush. 01:04:11 Speaker 2: How about I got married? He's married? Yes, yes, that's all you have to say. I met somebody who got married. 01:04:30 Speaker 3: Then Phoenie, not so slyly, mimics a phone ringing and pretends it's coming from his watch. He pretends to be talking to his boss North Korea. Damn, I'll be right there, and he sprints Prince. 01:04:41 Speaker 2: Out of the hall and out the door. 01:04:44 Speaker 3: Everyone has no idea what they just saw, and Judy admits, you know, they all do that, every stinking one of them. But I plow on. 01:04:55 Speaker 4: Oh. 01:04:56 Speaker 3: Then Sean comes walking in, confused. Phoene just jumped over a wall and landed in the pool. Judy introduces herself and Sean nods, yeah, that's the name you was screaming. He asks Corey and Topanga how it's going, and Corey lets him know. We're overbooked by like a thousand dads, trying to save money by using Feenie as the band, and Topanga's left eye is beginning to twitch. Topanga, whose left eye is indeed twitching, denies it, but she quickly turns away to hide her face. Sean grins well. Topanga do I got a surprise for you. Left eye still twitching, Topanga begs please no. Sean shouts into the hall ladies front and center. Then Rachel, Angela, and Morgan appear in their bridesmaid's dresses, grinning from ear to ear. Sean calls up Rachel first, and she tells Toapanga how much she loves the dress. She robotically repeats this twice. She's clearly been forced to do this. Then Angela walks up and forces herself to say, I feel like a delicate Georgia Peach in this dress, and I'm thrilled to wear it. Thank you. Lastly, it's Morgan's turn. I was very selfish and inconsiderate yesterday. This is your wedding, and I'm going to tell you the truth. She grins at Sean, then turns a one to eighty. Your friends are stinking liars. Sean paid them fifty bucks each, and why wouldn't you use this dress to wipe my so good? Alan quickly places his hand over her mouth to stop her midward, and he drags her out of the room. Just great work all around by everyone in the scene. 01:06:29 Speaker 4: Yep. 01:06:30 Speaker 3: Then Eric and Jack arrived to large fanfare. Eric is wearing a large black cape that covers him completely. 01:06:36 Speaker 4: This is Matt's whole part this episode. 01:06:38 Speaker 2: Yeah, just to see I think so yeah, I love a good cape. Oh god, I love a good cape. 01:06:44 Speaker 3: Yep, so good. Heroic music scores your entrance. He dramatically announces hello everyone, and Jack whispers to him, please don't do this, look at me, I'm begging you. Eric silences him. And this was I think maybe the first time I saw him at in a in an outfit that I was like, this is how tight all of his clothes used to be. Yeah, and this is how this is why you would always be like, do you have anything tighter? Yeah? 01:07:09 Speaker 2: Whant you get the tight one? 01:07:10 Speaker 1: It looked like he had the clothes where then you you you put one of the pumps to the thing and you suck out the air. 01:07:15 Speaker 3: Yeah, when you pack, when you pack. 01:07:17 Speaker 2: And that was just like his shirts, Like you would do that for his shirts in his pants. Yeah, this is painted on. 01:07:24 Speaker 3: Eric silences him quiet. Half breed, there are some people in this room. I shall. 01:07:30 Speaker 2: Means it's so awful. 01:07:32 Speaker 3: It makes no sense because you're half half half brother? 01:07:37 Speaker 4: Is that what I think? 01:07:39 Speaker 3: Brother? 01:07:40 Speaker 2: But half breed. 01:07:43 Speaker 3: It's awful. There are some people in this room who shall remain nameless, Corey and Mommy and Daddy. Then, don't think I'm best man material, But he's here to prove himself. Jack begs him one last time not to do it, but Eric shows him away. Eric removes his cape to review a silky robe with a pocket square and an ex scarf. If I can't be the best man, then I'm gonna be the room. 01:08:07 Speaker 2: I watched this twice, and the second time I just watched Rider. It is so much fun. 01:08:13 Speaker 4: I'm right behind you trying not to laugh the entire time. 01:08:17 Speaker 3: Sorry, Tapega's eye is twitching so much now it's practically closed. Eric announces in a soap opera tone, Panga, I love you. I've always loved you ever since I saw you through that peopole in the bathroom. What oh gosh gross. 01:08:37 Speaker 4: With that. 01:08:38 Speaker 3: Both of Tapega's eyes start to twitch. Eric dramatically continues, and I know how you've secretly longed for me as well, So let's drop this charad? 01:08:47 Speaker 4: Do you think it was written? Charad? So good? Now? Actually, now that we've watched the show, there was a moment where Tepega was in there. There was multiple moments, because there's the one where you're working out and she's checking daddy rocks yes, and then there was a whole episode about her coming to Yeah. So funny. 01:09:13 Speaker 2: So yeah, so it could worked. You should tried it. 01:09:16 Speaker 3: He grabs his pocket square and wipes the floor before getting down on one knee to Pega, marry me and let's make nick nick. Pega turns to Corey with her two twitchy eyes, and Corey nods get him. She yells at the top of her lungs and lunges at Eric. We freeze at impact. 01:09:35 Speaker 4: That's a great fee frame. How did you sure totally vertical is a wrestling move? 01:09:43 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's totally vertical with no pads. 01:09:46 Speaker 4: There's no pads on the ground. It's crazy. So will you just think you absorbed? 01:09:51 Speaker 1: I have literally don't remember, but I mean I must have, but I don't truly like it's get and I'm in platform sandals. Yeah you I don't remember the actual impact though. 01:10:02 Speaker 3: Wow, I don't remember the impact either. No on the couch. Topanga sums it all up. So I'm afraid that all of our horrible experiences have brought us here. Corey admits, we knew that planning a wedding was going to be tough, but I don't think any of us are going to survive this engagement. Tapanga agrees, there's no way we'll make it until June. 01:10:20 Speaker 2: No way. 01:10:21 Speaker 3: Her eye starts to twitch at the thought of it. I'll do something very bad to Eric. 01:10:25 Speaker 4: I will. 01:10:25 Speaker 3: Corey is concerned at her state. She barks at him, I know I'm twitching. Back off. 01:10:30 Speaker 4: She looks off. 01:10:31 Speaker 3: Camera once more. Please, we're asking you to understand this wedding is the most important day of our lives. Corey adds, but you people have turned this sacred, beautiful event into a freak show. Tapanga insists we all mean well, we just don't think we're going to survive in eight month engagement. They share a look before Corey announces we want to get married next week. Tapanka explains, no wedding hall, no fancy planner, just our friends and family. Corey continues, all the people who care about us right here next Friday night, eight o'clock, seventh Central. So funny. Then we hear Phoene from off camera one question. The lights turn on and we realize it's been the matthews living room. The whole time, the whole cast surrounds them. Phoenie asks, You're going to go through with it this time, aren't you. Corey and Tapega share a loving look with one another as violins play in the background. An invitation pops upon the screen that reads, you are cordially invited to the wedding of Corey Matthews into Panga Lawrence at the home of Alan and Amy Matthews on Friday, November fifth, nineteen ninety nine, at eight o'clock in the evening. Your RSVP is requested at www dot coreyantopanga dot com. 01:11:41 Speaker 4: Does anybody have like, isn't there a way to like do like the wayback machine or whatever and find. 01:11:45 Speaker 3: Oh yeah, if somebody sent it to us, we did this, but. 01:11:49 Speaker 2: They couldn't find the whole thing. 01:11:50 Speaker 3: It was like just they couldn't find the voting vote whether or not we should get married, but they could find a majority of the website like it had the invitation on. 01:11:58 Speaker 1: Their which again, great idea nineteen ninety nine, just starting the whole internet thing. 01:12:04 Speaker 2: This is a was a wonderful idea, talking right to the audience. 01:12:07 Speaker 4: It's a great way to get poss ratings. 01:12:10 Speaker 3: Right, yeah, yeah, And then we're in the tag in the Matthews living room, Corey and Tapanga or is it Ben and Danielle look directly into camera to tell viewers that they're finally doing it. They're getting married. Corey insists, we want you to be there this time next Friday night. Tapega tells her fiance, you're going to look so cute in a tuxedo. He jokes that it's powder blue, and she assures viewers it is not. Corey reveals to the camera all our friends are going to be there too, including you. To Panga ads it wouldn't be the same without you. Corey and Tapanga ask viewers to RSVP on their website, coreyantapanga dot com. Corey explains Corey and Tapanga one word is sort of like a symbol of our unity. Tapega argues, no, it's a computer thing. Corey insists, unity, computer thing. It's a computer thing. 01:12:57 Speaker 4: I could have done, shout, I could have done without this tag. Yeah, I thought just putting up the invitations. But it's so funny because I feel like there, you know, the Internet was still so new that that's felt the need to have. 01:13:09 Speaker 2: It was for the internet at this point. For to go to the website, that's. 01:13:12 Speaker 4: Like go to your computer if you have one and look it up. 01:13:16 Speaker 3: But I also think it's a way of making the viewers feel really included. I have to Yeah, I mean, I I agree with you that I wish I wish maybe it had been a little punchier, But I do like the idea that they put up. I think what happened is they put up that invitation and they you didn't have pausing, so there was no way of guaranteeing that people were able to see coreyantopanga dot com at the bottom. There so much information, so much information to take in. We had to hit there's a website, and we want you to r s VP, and so we had to basically sell. We had we had to tell people. 01:13:54 Speaker 1: That, yeah, and this is there's something nice about your talking to everybody in the family and how you're talking directly to the exact way who you're inviting. 01:14:03 Speaker 2: I thought that was kind of nice. 01:14:04 Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was cute. He tells viewers the name of the website once more, and then Tapanga essentially begs for higher ratings. While on the bubble of cancelation. Y see you at our wedding? 01:14:17 Speaker 4: So would this have been sweeps? This is sweeps? 01:14:19 Speaker 1: Weeek? 01:14:20 Speaker 3: Well it was? This was October. This one aired October twenty ninth, So was there? Was it November sweeps? 01:14:24 Speaker 2: Yep? Right, that's it. 01:14:26 Speaker 3: Wow, there we go. Is it a two parter. 01:14:30 Speaker 4: The wedding? 01:14:31 Speaker 2: No, I don't remember. There's a lot that happens. I remember Eric gets the whole. 01:14:36 Speaker 1: Well, yes, it's a two parter, but I think the wedding is the first part and then the second part.
