00:00:04 Speaker 1: How about Alex Bora, We saw him. 00:00:08 Speaker 2: We're not going to bring him on here because we just had him on FT So we try to be respectful of people's time. We don't need to have everybody on every five seconds. But we did ask him one critical question, who. 00:00:19 Speaker 1: Are you signing? 00:00:20 Speaker 2: He did a pretty clear cut answer, and I've seen him talk about it to the media as well. He would like to continue his friendship that is growing with Alex Bregman. He said, they really have a friendship. 00:00:33 Speaker 1: They keep in touch. 00:00:34 Speaker 2: The whole deal, right, the family is all that, and he would like to have that talent on his roster long term this time. Maybe this time they don't have that cute little opt out after year one, so you have to worry all year about if this is it. 00:00:52 Speaker 3: No, it was a one year deal. You knew it was a one year deal. No more, no more opt outs. The next one he signs, no more opt outs. And he's talking so glowingly about a player who had a three and a half war It was exactly what they brought in. This dude performed on the field. I know he had a little stint on the il, but to see how many young guys they had on this roster, and they're going to lean on those young young position players. I think it's a no brainer, as much as Schwarber back to the Phillies was a no brainer. Bregman back to the Red Sox and it's a massive massive loss if the Red Sox do not lock him in. 00:01:35 Speaker 4: Agree agree he fits perfectly there, right handed power, they can play defense. 00:01:40 Speaker 2: You know what I heard And these are quotes coming from front office people while we're here. The Cubs were talking about how they've seen a lot about activity for them, and they kind of said, yeah, Matt Shaw's our guy. Now Mattshaw could be their guy in a number of positions. I think he did play a few positions in college. I would advise to just let him run with third base. But the point is that they have been linked to Bregman as well. 00:02:10 Speaker 1: But to me, it almost made it feel like it could be right. 00:02:15 Speaker 2: But it almost makes it feel like they're not in on him, and that's just the rumor mill stirring up options for him. 00:02:25 Speaker 1: Did you get that vibe. 00:02:27 Speaker 2: If they're saying like, yeah, we like it Chicago and where so Ifreman is signs with the Cubs, obviously they'll figure it out, and they have a lot of players that are departing after twenty six. But for twenty six, you have Bush at first, you have Horner at second, you have Swontan at short, you have Show at third. I think the Cubs are trying to spend their money on starting pitching, and I think that's what they should do, maybe a big reliever two. 00:02:59 Speaker 1: I don't see it. 00:03:00 Speaker 2: I don't see them outbidding everyone for Alex bregnant I don't see them outbidding the Red Sox. I don't even think I see them outbidding the Tigers. I said on this show maybe a month ago, that it would be hard for me to see Bregman then going back to the Tigers. 00:03:16 Speaker 1: Now I still. 00:03:17 Speaker 2: Feel that way, but it sounded to me like the Tigers are still interested in him. For me, I had the vibe like, well, you told us no. What I've found out was they had the ability to up their offer and get it, I guess, in more of a range for that one year that he was going to do to go back to the market, and they didn't do it. So that's why, or at least partially why they didn't get the player. 00:03:45 Speaker 1: Did that make sense what I just said. 00:03:47 Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I hear you. You ever seen those videos where two people who are like the number one and number two favorite person for that dog in the family, and they like put the dog in the middle and they go a part, they go separate, and then they tell the dog like they just let the dog go and see which person it goes to. That's what's happened with Alex Bregman. Reggy's like, oh Man, like I love aj hint. I had a great time with Alex kra you know. I think they're kind of building for the future a little bit. Who will he choose? And I hope the Tigers are in again because they made a huge offer. I think it was actually more, but it wasn't more per year for that first year so he could opt out, so it essentially was a one year deal. But I hope they're back in. Let's put it that way. That's a good way to push all in with in Schoobls last year. 00:04:45 Speaker 2: I think they have to do something like that. I thought he was a perfect fit for Detroit. Yes, do you believe in the impact that he makes around the team? I mean, you've been around guys like this where they're just junkies and they respectfully want to help everyone, and so they suddenly show up the next day and they're like, hey, I figured this out for you. 00:05:11 Speaker 1: This is how you're being attacked. I figured this out. 00:05:14 Speaker 2: That's a thing, right, I mean, because it's hard to quantify and it doesn't sound like there are many players that are worth the extra cash for that contribution, but he is one of them. 00:05:25 Speaker 4: There are a few of them, but breaking them brings a winner's mentality, a veteran presidence. He changes at bats, he changes a lineup, and those people are hard to find and they're special when you find one. 00:05:38 Speaker 3: Yeah, A hundre percent agree. I fig that the Phillies didn't didn't hit on Schwarber. I think that would be the route they would have had to have gone, because winning teams need winning players world series. Aspiring teams need players that have experience, can be out there every single day, still can play. You gotta play like look like I can be the best clubhouse guy of all time, but I'm not really changing the trajectory of a team like an Alex Bregman. And I think you need those guys if you're if you're calling young guys up. You need those guys that help you make that transition, that maturation process that equals the talent that is there. And I think the Red Sox have that in Alex Bregman. And without that, who's that guy, it's Trevor Story. That guy to me, Trevor Story is that like he's that motor guy, he's the engine guy. I would just say, yeah, I would, I would. I would say if you don't sign Bregman, if either team Tigers or the Red Sox, because I think they both need them, you don't sign Bragman, who do you go after? Who is that guy on that level of leadership that's currently on your team of ability wise? And I think the Tigers actually get more from from Bregman than the Red Sox too, because the Red Sox are definitely laden with talent, but you still need that leadership guy around. 00:07:05 Speaker 2: Futures bet MGM ALCS winning division Al Central plus three sixty AL East minus one oh five AL West plus one ninety. I can actually play some ball in this. 00:07:19 Speaker 5: I could do the West. 00:07:20 Speaker 1: Okay, I could do the West. Remember one team essentially the. 00:07:25 Speaker 4: West to mean yes, because the Mariners I think have a chance they were very close this year. We don't know what the Astros are gonna do. The Rangers, what are they gonna do? I could I just think the West has a better chance than the two to one the East. Obviously with the Beasts of the East, all five teams, you can make an argument could do something. But if you're gonna lay money to me, it's it's gotta be on the West. 00:07:49 Speaker 5: The Central. 00:07:50 Speaker 4: Listen, we love the Tigers, Guardians, White Sox, Royals, that whole division, but it's got to be the East and the East. 00:07:57 Speaker 5: Is too low. So I'm going I'm going I'm going ale West, laying money on this one. 00:08:02 Speaker 3: Agreed. If I could get to East and more like even money, then I'll take it. Because you ultimately have three teams. I'm not gonna say five. There's gonna be three teams. Somebody has a stinker of a year, but you're gonna get three of those five teams that will be in the mix. And again in the American League is not that great. I but yeah, I'm gonna say the West. I love the Mariners, can never count the Astros out, and the Rangers might actually do something. 00:08:37 Speaker 2: Yeah, Now the Rangers actually we haven't talked about that much. Are I think they're trimming payroll this offseason. They're not going to be big players a couple of years ago and they actually they lost a lot of money after that. I'm joking. No, I love that move. I love that move. 00:08:58 Speaker 4: Langford's gonna go full time center fee Old he lost the Dolei Scarcia. 00:09:03 Speaker 5: The Gram is gonna be there. Of all, he's gonna be there. 00:09:06 Speaker 3: Have great pitching. I can't argue against pitching at this point in the year. 00:09:12 Speaker 5: Healthy seeger Josh Young hopefully stays healthy. Who's I mean? They can compete? 00:09:17 Speaker 4: I feel like just because if you start a rotation with de Gram and Evald, you should be able to compete. 00:09:22 Speaker 5: Yep, agreed and skip Schumacher magic. 00:09:30 Speaker 1: We are we are laughing. How many times are we gonna get knocked and asked it for laugh? You know? 00:09:36 Speaker 3: I actually have a tally. I have a tally going of the last two days. How many times it was? So we'll let you know at the end of the show. 00:09:43 Speaker 1: Good, thank you. 00:09:44 Speaker 2: So we did get some comments from fans this is one opportunity to do this, and they were like, you guys should be positioned in a different time. 00:09:51 Speaker 5: Hold on, but what if I I know you're are we still talking about it? We're s talking about MGM, we're. 00:09:56 Speaker 1: Talking about Let me let me wrap that part. 00:09:57 Speaker 5: I have a question because the guy just walked by. Show the show the full screen. 00:10:02 Speaker 1: Thank you. 00:10:03 Speaker 2: BETAMGM players will receive in any sport parlay boost token. If you log into the app or go to betemgm dot com under your funded account, you can add that to your bet slip, activate the token, and if you win. 00:10:15 Speaker 1: You know how it works, you get extra winnings. 00:10:16 Speaker 2: Gambling problem, more concern call one eight hundred gamble one more thing. While we're messing around, krat You weren't on for this yesterday, but I was dying for your thoughts the tmz ish battle that nobody anticipated coming. You played with Sonny Gray. You've always had really good insight on that whole situation. I'm sure you saw the back and forth with him, then Cashman, then his agent. I just need to get your overall thoughts on the final result. Like I'm gonna let you be the judge at the Olympics and you're gonna just tell me, like who got the top score in that fight? 00:10:55 Speaker 3: I think both sides of the story have part of the story correct. All I can say is when he came over, there was a team, like I said before, that had offered him an extension via you know, if the trade goes through, would you sign this extension? Answer was yes, Yankees came in traded for him. So I think there's probably some of you know, would he have wanted to go to the Yankees. I'm sure there's probably would have wanted to go to the Yankees before all this because they weren't winning in Oakland. I know for a fact that Sonny Gray from country, from the Country had no problem playing for the A's a lot of guys you can even you can even ask Josh Reddick, like those guys like they embraced it, Stephen Vote, they embraced being in Oakland because they were like, it's us against the world kind of thing. Could we have nicer stuff? Sure? Did he win a win a world want to win a World Series? 00:11:58 Speaker 5: Sure? 00:11:59 Speaker 3: Two thousand and seven the Yankees were in line to possibly win a World Series? So could he have said, yeah, he'd love to go to the Yankees? Yes, Like did he lie to a VID a minor league video guy to get him traded over the Yankees. If that's what it. If that's all it took, like everybody would be spreading stuff like that. So no, I don't think there's a lot of Some of the pieces of the story are probably correct, but you're getting something second third hand. So when Sonny comes on, we'll ask him all about this. TMZ. He loves the smoke. He's a vet now, he's not afraid of, you know, mixing it up a little bit, having a good time with that Southern draw. 00:12:41 Speaker 1: You know, Hey, you know I saw that. 00:12:43 Speaker 3: I saw that story, and I think it's funny because not everybody's got the story correct. 00:12:49 Speaker 5: Well, who's the team? Can we get the team? 00:12:51 Speaker 3: Yeah, I told you before. I can't. I can't confirm it because how I remember it. It would be a good story had we have to wait for Sonny to say what the team was. To confirm what the team was. 00:13:07 Speaker 2: Wait, I actually retract what I said last time you brought this up. I don't think there's any downside to you bringing up the team. 00:13:16 Speaker 1: Well you're not. You're not Ken Rosenthal. 00:13:19 Speaker 2: It's not like we're gonna be like, remember Kratz brought something up that he said he thought, but he didn't totally remember. So he's just throwing that out there, and we'll ask Sonny next time to confirm if that was indeed the team that he was thinking of. 00:13:33 Speaker 3: Yeah, the team I was thinking of was the Dodgers. The team that was supposedly in an agreement was the Dodgers. So now you're talking twenty seventeen like this was at the beginning of their run. 00:13:45 Speaker 1: So we'll see. 00:13:45 Speaker 3: We'll see if he confirms it. If he's like, man, cratch, you're so stupid. I never said that. I remember he said a team, and that's my that's my recollection of the team that it was. 00:13:57 Speaker 2: So he thought he was going to the Dodgers, and then the Yankee swooped in and the rest is now a beautiful rivalry. 00:14:06 Speaker 4: Yeah, now he goes because now he's on the Red Sox and he eats. Just try and beat him every time he pitches. 00:14:13 Speaker 3: You guess, as he was anybody else. Everybody, Like we're trying to be TMZ here too. Sonny Gray wants to beat everybody that he's facing. There's not any team where he's looking at it like, who am I facing today? 00:14:26 Speaker 5: Oh? 00:14:27 Speaker 3: Man, you know, I never really had any issues with the Brewers. I'm just gonna go out here and try my best. No, he's a fierce competitor. He wants to beat anybody. The media, the fans, they're gonna boo when he comes into Yankee Stadium. Every time he hits a homer. They'll cheer a little louder. We need this, we need this, We need aj Prazinski loving the Cubs, but secretly on the outside saying he hates the Cubs. 00:14:53 Speaker 2: I'm gonna throw a bunch of things at you because we keep doing these great interviews and then news happens. Nothing crazy, but I mean, there was a trade. The Angels picked up Von Grissom from the Red Sox for minor league outfielder Isaiah Jackson. The Angels are becoming a spot where they're like, hey, let's put. 00:15:13 Speaker 5: He play in the big leagues this year. 00:15:15 Speaker 1: Did he get any time? If he did, it wasn't much. 00:15:18 Speaker 5: He's just a name because he was the big sale, right, the big sale. 00:15:22 Speaker 2: He didn't get up here this year. No, So he was a promising player for forty one games with the Braves and the next year doesn't play as well. Again, super limited abs. He got called up at twenty one years old, coming from like a small school. I think I think it was a Florida school that let's see, where was he coming from and forgetting everything now? 00:15:45 Speaker 4: Or was he a high school guy Haggerty Haggarty, bro Haggarty, Haggarty, High School of Veto right, Zach Efflyn, Ryan Mountcastle. 00:15:55 Speaker 2: So high school guy that's called up. My point of all of this was, hopefully he's able to find it with the Angels, they're getting to guy s, but also the Braves won the Chris Sales treach. 00:16:08 Speaker 5: Here's that You want to say young, didn't he? 00:16:11 Speaker 1: Yeah? I'm just saying prospects are often suspects. 00:16:18 Speaker 4: Prospects are suspects until they're players. Scrats, that's what we always say. Still they become some they're all suspects. 00:16:26 Speaker 3: And von Grison needs to elevate the ball a little bit more. I see he hit thirteen homers minor leagues. He's able to his batting averages, John, Okay, but there's a lot more. You know, you got to become a force. I think he came up. He was a guy. I was trying to look at some of his minor league numbers. He was like a one to one guy striking out the same amount that he's walking. So he's not striking out a ton. He needs to elevate those He needs to elevate those walk numbers and do more damage and not just make contact with everything. It's learning, not every buddy, not everybody that makes it up to the big Lee's at twenty twenty one years old and hits a ding. I remember it was in Boston. He had a homer I think his first at bat or first game over the monster. He has value. It's just a matter of him finding finding his value and finding where he best fits to put his best at pass forward in the big leiges. 00:17:23 Speaker 2: Next up here, real quick, we have gotten a number of little tidbits on World Baseball Classic. 00:17:30 Speaker 1: Who's in, Who's out? All that stuff. 00:17:34 Speaker 2: It is busy, but krats Team usays roster has been filling Dennis Gilbert. 00:17:40 Speaker 4: The best looking guy in baseball. You don't know who Dennis Gilbert is. 00:17:44 Speaker 2: Corbyn Carolyn left, Pete car Armstrong and center Aaron Judge and Wright. Gunnar Henderson was announced today. He's playing third Bobby with Junior at short, Bryce Terrang at second. First base is a mystery man. Kyle Schoreber is the d H with an extra hundred and fifty million dollars today. 00:18:03 Speaker 5: Space will be a lonzo once he signs. 00:18:05 Speaker 2: Watch cal Riley is catching. Will Smith is the catching. 00:18:10 Speaker 5: And the squad. 00:18:11 Speaker 2: We know that Garrett witlocks in the bullpen. Wa Wait, hold up, it's a great squad. Notice how I just named a bunch of position players no pitchers. Who's pitching for this team? 00:18:24 Speaker 1: I know. 00:18:26 Speaker 2: We brought boyd right, that's true, Skins Whitlock. Jack Curry reported that Freed mcfreid was asked, he said, nah, I'm good. 00:18:36 Speaker 1: I don't know who's pitching for Team USA. We're not I'm not worried about. 00:18:39 Speaker 5: Theres options there? 00:18:43 Speaker 2: Say yes, yes, what happened last time? 00:18:47 Speaker 1: They don't have enough pitching. 00:18:48 Speaker 4: They lost in you think two slider to mac Trout. 00:18:54 Speaker 3: I'm just saying, I mean to me, if you're gonna if you're going to win this, you need the best guys out there to roll through it. I'm sorry, but you can't have Merrill Kelly and Adam Wayne Wright as guys that are getting significant innings for you. And maybe they'll look at it as you know. 00:19:09 Speaker 4: What, Wayne no pitch wayno pitched against like they set way, no up to where he would pitch it to certain things. 00:19:17 Speaker 3: So then it's all about so then it's all about the So then it's all about whoever, you know, whoever you have in the bullpen, because they're not gonna sit there and go They're not gonna sit there and go yeah, you know, we'll have a starter, go long, yeah. 00:19:38 Speaker 4: Whatever, they'll be guys. By the way, the only reason I brought up Dennis Gilbert. By the way, Jim Gibbella just walked by me, super scout for the Giants. 00:19:45 Speaker 5: I've done forever. 00:19:46 Speaker 4: But Dennis Gilbert, who just who walked by me originally when we came on. He used to be an agent. He negotiated the Bobby Bonia contract that he's still gets paid for. 00:20:03 Speaker 3: I know he took his money up front, that is good. 00:20:08 Speaker 4: But Dennis Gilbert now he owns an insurance coming that's worth like more money than all of us combined. 00:20:13 Speaker 5: So he's doing fine. 00:20:14 Speaker 4: But he negotiated the Bobby Bennie of the original deferral contract. 00:20:18 Speaker 1: He clearly knows what he's doing with money. 00:20:20 Speaker 5: Yes, he knows how to make money, but. 00:20:21 Speaker 1: Some people in the chat said, what about Michael Bush for first base. 00:20:26 Speaker 5: Back to Team USA? That'll be fine. 00:20:28 Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe a Max free pitches for Team Israel. I don't think he's pitching in the WBC. You know what about Eras Chapman. 00:20:35 Speaker 4: Pitching for Great Britain's How did they get I'm just trying to figure out how that works. 00:20:40 Speaker 5: He's from Cuba, but he's gonna picture Great Britain. 00:20:43 Speaker 1: It's a free for all. 00:20:45 Speaker 4: Yeah, I've decided I'm going to pitch for Team Poland doesn't have a team. 00:20:51 Speaker 1: So Great Britain is handing out passports. 00:20:54 Speaker 5: All right, May we'll go over there and get one. 00:20:59 Speaker 3: And what but dazzlers, they're going to dazzle their uniforms this year. They're gonna get to make their uniforms. 00:21:07 Speaker 2: You know how you said that there would be a dress code and araldish Chapman was like, that's cool. I'm gonna wear whatever I want. If you have a problem, let me know. I'm six six two forty pure muscle. That might happen again with Great Britain. You might just show up with his own uniform customized. Since somehow the WBC makes millions and millions and millions of dollars, but Great Britain had to fund the uniform situation on their own, thus letters. 00:21:34 Speaker 5: Falling off of how how's the runoff? 00:21:37 Speaker 2: Great Britain might just have a customized Eeraldish Chapman jersey on his own. 00:21:42 Speaker 3: I think it's terrible. I think Major League Baseball needs to make sure all the teams are funded, all the teams are announced when they have stars that are playing for them, not just Team USA. Sorry, but imagine. 00:21:57 Speaker 2: It's like Great Britain trying to pull up the upset of the sension. 00:22:00 Speaker 1: You get some round and Chatman comes in and be sick. 00:22:05 Speaker 5: Yeah,
