00:00:00
Speaker 1: Welcome back to episode forty of Inside the Bus. This is actually my episode because I was number forty growing up in all of my sports. Why not entirely Sure, we can get into it a little bit, but yeah, that was my number in football, in baseball, everything.

00:00:21
Speaker 2: Are there any legends that are number forty? Mike all Stott there you go, just die?

00:00:26
Speaker 3: And I was.

00:00:28
Speaker 1: I was a running back, he was a fullback. So then we're both white. So it just kind of felt like a fit.

00:00:35
Speaker 3: Is that? Oh so he's why you did it? No, So I think the way we actually did it.

00:00:38
Speaker 1: I picked it was my first year of playing football, and my mom was like, okay, you need to pick your number. I'm like, okay, Larry Johnson's number twenty seven, Jamal Charge's number twenty five, and then I think like Priest Holmes was thirty one. So I picked like those three and then you could pick like, if those three aren't available, just randomly assigned anyone. So I just got randomly signed forty, and for whatever reason, from the time I was six seven years old playing tackle football, I was number forty all the way up through high school. So I was number forty as a wide receiver in high school.

00:01:12
Speaker 2: So fourteen that Susquehanna was your first time, not forty.

00:01:15
Speaker 1: So fourteen they didn't have forty in baseball. So I was fourteen in baseball in high school. And then my freshman year of college, I was number eighty one, and yeah, I didn't really thought. I didn't really like it just because I don't know, I just felt weird in it.

00:01:33
Speaker 3: So I just had to get the four back.

00:01:34
Speaker 1: So that's why just my sophomore year, I texted the coach was like, hey, can I switch to fourteen? They were like, we'll see, and then they made it a surprise when I got our cancer's good number.

00:01:44
Speaker 4: Michael Wilson.

00:01:45
Speaker 2: Michael Wilson, car, I don't know how Coop does it like that, right that.

00:01:51
Speaker 5: Met at the Rim with Michael Wilson, No Meet at the Rim, Yah said the same was one of the quickest things ever.

00:01:56
Speaker 4: I mean, that was a draw. We instantly just oh yeah, Rainy Mas Harrol.

00:02:01
Speaker 2: I just had no I've never even heard met at the Rim used in that context, and it's so perfect and it happened so fast I didn't even hear it exactly, which is usually how Coop moves. The only people that are heard are the ones that I guess I don't know that it's directed, are tapped in.

00:02:17
Speaker 3: Yeah. But yeah, he'll just have like I'm just sitting in the corner. He'll just have these one off comments and I'll just start laughing. Coop, I heard that.

00:02:23
Speaker 2: Met at the rim, Derek, what was your soccer number?

00:02:27
Speaker 3: Forty eight?

00:02:28
Speaker 2: Because keepers, I feel like sometimes we'll have a.

00:02:30
Speaker 5: Yeah, they didn't really care too much, and so I was forty eight for Cup because they just like handed out jerseys and I was like, all right, that's my number. And then my favorite player was Kobe and Marshaun Lynch at the time, so I just added them up so it was always forty eight.

00:02:42
Speaker 2: Resourceful young athlete.

00:02:45
Speaker 3: I love that, dude.

00:02:46
Speaker 2: We need a we need a deep jersey in the in the office. If you have your college one.

00:02:53
Speaker 3: College one's way to give back.

00:02:54
Speaker 4: I could find one.

00:02:55
Speaker 3: I could find it.

00:02:55
Speaker 4: So he has to go grab it from the rafters.

00:02:59
Speaker 1: The raptors of this that would be saying if we all reached out through our high schools.

00:03:04
Speaker 3: I have a soccer one at home, but not not my football.

00:03:06
Speaker 1: I have my high school football one. I think it may be down here or if not, it's back home. We get all of our jerseys put them in there after.

00:03:16
Speaker 4: The only jersey I have is my Keller High School freshman team like mess jersey that they cut off my body when I was on the field and when I broke my leg. I have it's all chopped up. You still have it, yeah, somewhere and my cleat. I should bring my cleat. Yeah, they cut They cut the cleat off my foot, and then all my teammates signed it right up there.

00:03:40
Speaker 3: What number we what number number numbers too?

00:03:43
Speaker 6: Number two, number two that was that was like longer, well, I was thirty five is like a freshman because you kind of get like a bullshit number, kind to earn your stripes. And then then I was to my in my sophomore year, our junior year because Jacob Springer was a guy who was a senior my sister's grade.

00:03:58
Speaker 3: He was two.

00:03:59
Speaker 6: And it's always nice to get handed down a number from like a reputable guy on the team.

00:04:04
Speaker 3: For sure.

00:04:05
Speaker 6: It's scary too.

00:04:05
Speaker 3: You just gotta you too in hockey. Do you you played hockey as well?

00:04:09
Speaker 6: No, I was actually they just gave me a jersey. There was already two and they taped just one stripe and made it twelve, so technically I was twelve, but that was you know, about six weeks long. But it was good though. I definitely still have my lacrosse jersey because we were a club sport at the time, so you had to buy everything. Yeah, it wasn't like they're just giving you stuff. You know, you had to earn it. Did you still hanging in my closet?

00:04:32
Speaker 3: I know?

00:04:32
Speaker 1: In football, like did you or I don't know if this is in every high school thing, but like did your football players in high school give their I say, you're playing at home, give the away jersey to like their girlfriend or anything?

00:04:44
Speaker 3: Was everything the game? I don't really remember.

00:04:48
Speaker 2: Ever, I feel like we didn't even have access to our other jerseys the less we were playing with it, and so I feel like we were the only ones.

00:04:58
Speaker 3: Wearing our jerseys. But maybe in this stance, I don't know.

00:05:01
Speaker 6: We definitely had girl friends. And then I want to even say some of the cheerleaders would kind of like do the crop fold under and wear it.

00:05:08
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that that maybe rings did you have that in high.

00:05:11
Speaker 4: School where people would wear the jerseys like, so say, like all the like all the players are wear the jersey younger, but.

00:05:18
Speaker 3: Like Addie would wear your away jersey.

00:05:21
Speaker 4: I feel like that's yeah, I feel like that was a thing, maybe more like Keller.

00:05:24
Speaker 3: I don't know if that was just like because I feel I feel like that's it's not a thing.

00:05:27
Speaker 4: I feel like that's the thing. Also, you want to hear something crazy, it would be crazy to me. I go back in the files to look at the file the incident of when they cut my jersey and clean off number fourteen.

00:05:39
Speaker 2: Let's go, I was fourteen in football.

00:05:40
Speaker 4: It's all connected.

00:05:42
Speaker 2: We got three fourteens and.

00:05:43
Speaker 4: Then my boy looking at me flailing number forty, Episode forty. Holy s, we're so close to the.

00:05:51
Speaker 3: Dude in the back should go on the ground with a broken leg.

00:05:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, they captured a moment.

00:05:55
Speaker 6: Yeah, oh oh.

00:05:59
Speaker 2: See that photo before.

00:06:01
Speaker 3: Let me show that's broken leg.

00:06:03
Speaker 4: That's the story. That's my show.

00:06:05
Speaker 2: Hang on there, switch the camera to you because we need live react.

00:06:09
Speaker 3: We don't have a camera, I don't have shoot.

00:06:11
Speaker 4: Just know that this is not my ankle. It is my ship. I'll make it.

00:06:14
Speaker 3: I'll make it vocal. It's okay, it's not I thought you broke up to here.

00:06:19
Speaker 4: No, that's where my cast.

00:06:23
Speaker 2: Yeah, still walking right now?

00:06:24
Speaker 4: He was doing this ahn.

00:06:27
Speaker 3: Where ye wait? Why did you have the cast all the way up to here? Yeah?

00:06:30
Speaker 4: And then they and then I had a cast up to my crotch, full leg cast. They needed full stability.

00:06:35
Speaker 2: True, he missed all this. Agg Coop got his first kiss while he was in that leg cast.

00:06:39
Speaker 4: Yeah, in a wheelchair. That's why I was the wheelchair relatable. I've been there.

00:06:46
Speaker 6: Does anyone else have photos of your worst injury?

00:06:50
Speaker 2: Luckily, my worst one was was like I broke my collar bone in a soccer tournament.

00:06:56
Speaker 6: And slinged up.

00:06:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, slingked up, and then something that could I guess act as a photo is a very clear memory. My first game back from my broken collarbone, I got elbowed in my nose and I saw I was like holding my nose and my dad was walking behind the goal and he just goes, oh, for Christ's sake, what now? I was just like, oh my god, I no, this wasn't broken, but.

00:07:22
Speaker 3: I don't know.

00:07:22
Speaker 1: I mean, I have like film of it, just put Like my worst injuries is high ankle sprain. So I was very lucky in that sense. But or like a contusion or something. But I never really got all that hurt.

00:07:34
Speaker 4: I wish I had the film because that screenshot, that blurry screenshot was from Huddle the Huddle highlights, and it was getting passed around. Everybody was like passing around at school, and the coaches like took it down. They didn't even ask me. I was like, hey, leave it up. That's what I said, leave it up. I want this. It was before screen recording on the iPhone was a thing, so I couldn't get it.

00:07:55
Speaker 3: Damn, do you have what was?

00:07:57
Speaker 6: I didn't have one from school. Bad head injury in college where I had like twenty six stitches across my head and cracked my skull. And it's I I don't even want to like show it because like we'll probably get like banned online. It's pretty gruesome. But where my head goes to is, have you guys witnessed any really bad injuries? Because I went to a Traveca basketball game when I was in fifth grade and the guy shinn went through I mean his shinbo went through his legs. Yeah, and they stopped the game and the game was over. It was it was just a canceled game and it was literally just like that.

00:08:31
Speaker 3: It was.

00:08:32
Speaker 6: It was bad.

00:08:33
Speaker 4: I have experience, well kind of from a distance because it was in the middle of the football field. It was after I retired due to injury in football. So I was in the sands. We four Christian played.

00:08:44
Speaker 2: Hey, let you go on the sideline.

00:08:45
Speaker 4: No, this is this is after the transfer.

00:08:47
Speaker 3: Okay, so I'm at my dude get away.

00:08:51
Speaker 4: I was in that same it's a different program, different colors. We played. Our football team played a like local penitential like these wait, what penitentiary. How do you say it? That's like a prison, yes, like a prison school. Yeah, yeah, I found the right word. Wait, penitentiary, penitentiary.

00:09:14
Speaker 6: Y'all's Middle school played a prison team, high school Highway Christian.

00:09:18
Speaker 4: They these kids they got sent like there for bad behavior. If they had good behavior there, they got to play football and they they had a team and they like it was like it was like an exhibition. It didn't count his grid iron gang. Yeah yeah, but one kid on that team had a very similar enjuramy, like snapped his leg and half bone showing and they just canceled the rest of the game. I forget if that.

00:09:41
Speaker 6: Year sports and it's such a brutal injury. They're like this probably isn't worth continuing right now.

00:09:45
Speaker 4: And we're just like this guy's he acted good and got to play football and has legs broken in half.

00:09:51
Speaker 2: Damn intense like a couple of my friends toward their acls or whatever. But it wasn't like gruesome ones to a lot of you know, we had some like our football team was really bad, so our old line was horrible. It's our one of our quarterbacks got hellic concussions.

00:10:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, we I got one from football. Was like one of it was in high school. This kid returned a punt. It was actually on our team, and this kid, I think he like fair caught it and the other kid just came down fullhead and then like he was the the guy our teammate was just motionless on the ground for like two minutes.

00:10:27
Speaker 3: That part was really scary.

00:10:28
Speaker 1: But my buddy Andy, who y'all have met, he uh, this is a skiing accident. We we were in Vermont for because I was in ski club and like that was our ski trip every year we went to Vermont and we went We're going down this hills like the last one of the last runs of the day and we were going we went off an a frame and we didn't know it was an a frame untill it was way too late. We thought there was like a landing to it. So we went off of it like a good speed and got launched. We went up like me and him went off at the same time. And we went off and then like kind of like gott pushed forward. I fell like I crashed and like just hit my knee and like just kind of like a whatever.

00:11:07
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:11:07
Speaker 1: He he landed like this and his hands so he broke both of his wrists and he was like on the ground like moaning, like you know when you get the wind knocked out of you.

00:11:21
Speaker 3: You're like like he was just.

00:11:22
Speaker 1: Doing that, hey buddy, like you are right, like you just got the wind knocked out of you, and he just wasn't answering luckily. Like we went off and then right over to the right there was like a ski right like a rail and there were two ski patrol people right there and there was just blood everywhere. So somebody else just got sucked up right there. They came over to us and we're like everybody, like, you guys all right, and I'm like I'm good I don't think Andy's very okay, And so they checked him out and he's like my wrist, my wrist, and he's like the one ski patrol offerer was like, just check out his risk. He's like all right, like you're you're completely fine, You're really okay. It goes on the radio, Hey, we need somebody up here. This kid's really fucked up right now. So his both of his broke, both of his wrists, was slinged up for the next however many months, and it was like it was like he's the best dude. And it was so funny because like he was on like pain pills, but he we were in class and you could like you could tell he was on his pain pills, and he would just like we were in psychology class.

00:12:24
Speaker 3: He would just kind of like just start getting loopy Andy like lock in.

00:12:27
Speaker 1: He'd like just like pay attention for like thirty seconds, and then you could tell you just start floating away again.

00:12:32
Speaker 4: It was so fun The hidros would knock you out. That's what they gave me paid And then you know what, I had my like pharmacy refill, got the refilled, never needed. I still think I have them. Probably don't work anymore.

00:12:46
Speaker 3: To the busy I don't work, or they work even better.

00:12:50
Speaker 2: Let's find out is a frame just a ramp?

00:12:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I don't know how thank you for asking.

00:12:57
Speaker 3: I don't know what the point of it.

00:12:58
Speaker 6: Is though, what's the kicker smaller jump?

00:13:01
Speaker 3: Okay, it's literally like a like a triangle just on the ground.

00:13:04
Speaker 2: Oh got you, got you, got you.

00:13:06
Speaker 3: So it's like it's like you just kind of like ramp up it.

00:13:09
Speaker 6: You're supposed to go up and either like do like something on the rail on the top, and then you go back down and they use it as a jump, which you should not do because the landing spot is going to be really flat, right because it goes down just goes straight back in.

00:13:23
Speaker 1: Yeah, So it's like it went it was like a quick up and that's why we got launched forward and we thought thought like you said, like it was a ramp and so there was like a downslope.

00:13:31
Speaker 3: But just straight flat just were like I think I remember mid air being.

00:13:35
Speaker 6: Like, oh shit, it's due to in college I broke both my wrists at the same time, and the pain not it's it's the humiliation ritual that you go through for the next six weeks trying to wipe your ass, eating writing all this stuff. I luckily had good teachers my freshman year of college and they I was in ballroom dancing at the time, and my teacher for our final you had to obviously do a choreograph dance with a partner, and I just had to come in on my own time and do the steps by myself with two slings. And at the end she goes, it was enough for you to come in here. She was like, you're getting an A. And it was a past or Field grade, so it.

00:14:11
Speaker 2: Was like, wow, you ever got to put on your performance?

00:14:14
Speaker 6: No, I did. I did it myself, you know, which debaateally is way way more difficult than doing it with a partner. But yeah, it's brutal. I've also broke my hand and foot at the same time. There's it's not fun breaking bones.

00:14:27
Speaker 2: No.

00:14:27
Speaker 6: I in seventh grade was working a fourth of July fireworks stand. It was like July seventh, so you know, the holiday's done and we have like one or two more days where we're selling stuff and we're taking down the tent. For some reason, they put two twelve year olds to go to the top of the tent and have you've ever been on top of a fireworks stand or if you've seen one, you know it's that real thick kind of plastic material. So they're like, it's fine, Like you just climb up and you feel like you're like sticking to it. So you climb up and we're taking down the flags at the top and they're like, you're fine. Like the only issue would be is if for some reason rain and like there's no rain, and while we're up there, it may be sprinkled for like all of two seconds and I go down. You get to slide down it and it'll kind of stop you at the end, and I'll never forget the feeling. When I'm halfway down, I was like I'm not stopping. Go off and it's about a seven eight foot drop. Land on the foot and wrists on too. So it was my left foot, my right wrist and land on the gravel. But dude, I was about a foot away from one of those big industrial steaks that leverages it in. I'm like thinking like if I had landed on that, It's like, this is a whole different ball game.

00:15:34
Speaker 2: It was brutal.

00:15:36
Speaker 6: It's a whole different podcast, right, now, yeah, man, it's over.

00:15:39
Speaker 2: It's over, especially at that age. Yea seven to eight feet is for sure, and thirty feet yeah, you're.

00:15:45
Speaker 3: In the air what like it's what like two seconds, but it feels.

00:15:49
Speaker 6: Like, oh yeah, it's a lifetime. But you know, I think breaking bones is good for a kid's kind of their their mental sake. You need to let kids get hurt or else they form have bits to where they're scared of the world, so.

00:16:02
Speaker 4: They're pretty durable. That's the time to do it.

00:16:04
Speaker 6: For sure.

00:16:04
Speaker 2: You've just broken a collarbones a collarbone in my left wrist in fifth grade. We were playing basketball at recess, so mad trip me from behind.

00:16:12
Speaker 1: I've like, luckily, I don't think I've ever broken a bone. I'm sure I've broken like toes or fingers from playing football, but never like, hey you broke this, you need a cast kind of thing. I had, Like when I was in middle school, I had like my heel hurt for a really long time, but then by the time we finally went to the doctor, it was already healed.

00:16:29
Speaker 3: But I had like a stress fracture in my heel, which was really painful. But I've luckily never broken a bone.

00:16:37
Speaker 6: Yeah, I was the kid that was just expected to break bones at some point because four summers in a row from first grade to fourth grade. The first week of summer, I broke my wrist four years in a row, and unlike the third year, people were like, this is like giving up, dude, what attention do you need now? Skateboarding was one. One was getting my hand hit by a lacrosse stick. One was getting scared by a dog that jumped on a trampoline and I tried to jump back and they had this elevated like play deck that I jumped like successfully jumped backwards onto it. So I'm already like whoa and then take one set back fell off. That one was dirt biking, put one down just on asphalt. There's there's been a lot of of broken. I think I'm at like twenty six fracture slash breaks in my life because I've broken my back, fracture my skull, both my ankles multiple times, thirteen fractures between both wrists. My pinkies are like they sit like sideways, like push it straight up. But I'm at the point where I hope I never break another bone in my life because it's when you're twelve, You're like, this is cool, like kids are gonna sign my cast whatever, Like I was like a little attention.

00:17:55
Speaker 4: Whorese bones gelatine.

00:17:57
Speaker 6: Yeah, and now it's like if you're in a with a cast, people were like, maybe maybe I'll just ask another time, like you're not asking people to sign your cast when you're thirty one, or.

00:18:08
Speaker 3: Maybe you are.

00:18:09
Speaker 2: I'll ever been in the knee brace, Yeah, I have.

00:18:13
Speaker 4: I actually have it.

00:18:14
Speaker 2: So Derek, we feel like you got to speak on the on our injuries because also George Kittle was in the office this week and Derek was trying to be nice to George and offered him the wheelchair and George just looks at Derek and says, I'm gonna break your neck.

00:18:27
Speaker 5: I think the exact word where I will snap your neck and put you in the wheelchair. Myself and I texted my best friend said, the coolest thing just happened.

00:18:33
Speaker 3: I need to send you that clip.

00:18:34
Speaker 5: Please do, please do. Injury wise, fractured, I was a goalkeeper. The bubble fracture left pinky two dislocated, fractured, broken fingers, concussion, I've broke the growth plate on my foot, which I have a boot on.

00:18:46
Speaker 3: Uh.

00:18:47
Speaker 5: But the worst one was when I was young, we were playing Jurassic Park. I was the raptor and my brother and his friend had garbage pick her up her steaks with like needles on the end of it, and it got caught in my cheekbone and went that way and ripped my cheek and like pierced the bone to the point where like the doctor was like, you should be blind, and so yeah, I was like ah, and so like it wasn't really that good. He was like, hey man, you're not like a rafter, but yeah, it was like an inch away from being blind in my left eye, which was the craziest one. But in my adult life, yeah, I had a complete fracture and cleaned out all the cartilage in my right knee and now I have a meniscus sprain in my left knee. So if you guys want to sign my knees brain, you can't.

00:19:27
Speaker 1: God d, what's like the worst injury you've heard of from like one of your.

00:19:31
Speaker 3: Boys, or worse injury I heard of?

00:19:34
Speaker 1: Because that what you're saying, getting almost blinded reminded me of my buddy that you've y'all met, Schlez He like has a scar on his forehead and he got hit by a jet ski and if it was a center meter like one centimeter like to the right or left, like, he would.

00:19:52
Speaker 3: Have lost his eye.

00:19:53
Speaker 2: How do you get hit by it?

00:19:54
Speaker 1: He was swimming like I think he was on like spring breaker over the summer, and he was in the lake and some fucker just.

00:20:01
Speaker 4: Was going too fast, crazy on like a motor vehicle in the water, in the water. I got my motor's license in Texas at thirteen. That's what the.

00:20:09
Speaker 6: Hell, honestly just happened of jet ski accidents. A kid in my brother's grade name We call him Tito. His name is Logan though, but he's like this big Hawaiian looking guy, like Polynesian, looks like Tito from Rocket Power. He was on a jet ski and got thrown off and they were going probably pretty fast, and all of a sudden he gets out. He can't move his shoulder. Long story shot. A year and a half later, his right arm paralyzed, does cannot move and he's in high school. He's like a senior. He could not move his arm for over a year and a half and it was because it was nerve damage in his spine. And they did a surgery and they basically go in I mean you can imagine like the nervous system and how delicate that surgery would be, and they're basically going into it being like, there's no real confirmation that this is gonna work, but it could potentially work. And it's not gonna like you're gonna wake up from and be able to use your arm again. It'll be like six months to a year to possibly never. And he was playing video games with a buddy in my great because he was his young life leader at the time, and they said that they were playing FIFA or NHL, and he scored a goal and out of nowhere, he just went and my buddies like drops his controller and looks at him and it's like and he's like what He's like, Dude, your arm. And after a year and a half of being paralyzed from basically the shoulder down and it's just hanging limb and he could use his hand but he'd have to like move his hand upwards to use it, all of a sudden, his arm worked a miracle and beautiful, guess his arms completely fine.

00:21:38
Speaker 4: Now, man, those first few workouts with that arm sucked.

00:21:42
Speaker 6: Oh yeah, but he's the man that that one. It's like something that's long term, like if you break a bone in six weeks, two months, you have surgery, you got recovery time. If you have something that is like going to affect your life for the rest of time, that's one where you look back and you're like, maybe I gotta take it a little easier.

00:21:57
Speaker 2: Yeah, we need I mean, we didn't have Cam old roommate on the podcast one time because he has the story with our other friend Joe and I don't know the logistics of how this happened, but it was a jet ski accident and they took the jet ski out when they weren't supposed to. They're super young, and something happened with the gas or oil and they like pulled up to the dock and Cam got off the jet ski and Joe was still on it and essentially the jet ski exploded and said, Joe just gets launched, and I would dude, Cam is such a funny storyteller, Like that's why I need him to do it, because he was like, man, I'm just sitting there on the dog watching my boy fly through the air, and I'm thinking this is it and I'm just dude, if you guys knew Joe too, Like, this image is just too gold.

00:22:44
Speaker 6: It seems like reaction. Yeah, the Joe seemed like he survived.

00:22:48
Speaker 2: Well, Joe's all good, but man, I just like it's kind of like, have you all ever been on a blob?

00:22:54
Speaker 3: Oh?

00:22:55
Speaker 4: Yeah, Oh I used to get launch blob. Beat me up, dude.

00:23:02
Speaker 2: We had this guy Mitchell felt and shot out Mitchell.

00:23:04
Speaker 3: We went to a young.

00:23:06
Speaker 2: Life camp in Colorado and Kirka Creek. Yeah exactly, that's the camp cit that I met at.

00:23:11
Speaker 6: Really, but we'll tell that story next.

00:23:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a they had a blob out there and there's this girl, Haley. She was actually she went on to be a cheerleader at Clemson. So she's like a little little and Mitchell is like three.

00:23:23
Speaker 6: Twenty, always got to get the big boys.

00:23:26
Speaker 2: Went to Greenwood High School, same high school as DJ swearings for Josh Norman, all these guys, HARMANI Edwards, so he's massive, played old line there and we're like, dude, you have to launch her and you know she's a flyer, she's used.

00:23:40
Speaker 3: To it, and she flew. I swear dude.

00:23:43
Speaker 2: We were like the photo is just like you're like everybody's looking at a star that you can barely see, and she landed due she was bruised from it.

00:23:51
Speaker 3: It was it was all time, you know.

00:23:52
Speaker 4: There was a split second there where she's.

00:23:54
Speaker 2: Like, oh no, why did I do this?

00:23:55
Speaker 4: But man, I've been there.

00:23:56
Speaker 6: Camp Legend, Camp Legend.

00:24:00
Speaker 1: We had a camp like we I went to campus, just called Camp win Swat. It's more of like a just like.

00:24:05
Speaker 6: Your stereotypically like a YMCA like summer camp exactly.

00:24:08
Speaker 3: Like we had.

00:24:09
Speaker 1: We played like some fun games and stuff, but like nothing like where there was a lake or anything. They had like a pool when they had the woods and we could just go fuck around.

00:24:16
Speaker 3: A life camp. Man. Yeah, they do it right for their summer camps.

00:24:19
Speaker 1: I got accidentally headbutted by one of the counselors one time. You're playing tag and I snuck up behind the guy and like tried to tag him and he for whatever reason went like that.

00:24:28
Speaker 4: Just I loved going to camp. Every funny stories and we had like these shared cabins with a big old It was like two churches shared cabin, big old space in the middle, and that's where I started playing four square. We would play against him in four square and it like just the best memory. Also the blob when the line like you have your two hours of free time, everybody goes to the lake lines along for the blob. I remember like if you didn't land on the blob because it was far down there, you jump down there and you slide off. Your whole free time is.

00:25:00
Speaker 2: Just that crawl out there is nerve wrecking.

00:25:03
Speaker 4: Yeah, but even when you like jump in land, it's wet because people have been jumping on it, Like you.

00:25:06
Speaker 3: Got to get to the end.

00:25:09
Speaker 4: You fall off the blall like you don't get to get launched. Worst feeling ever camp. Yeah, I was there for like a week.

00:25:15
Speaker 3: Yeah, ours was just parents, drop us off in the morning, pick us up.

00:25:18
Speaker 4: And now I always felt bad for the people that I had to launch.

00:25:23
Speaker 6: I was like, they don't even leave the ball, they just gotta fall into the water.

00:25:30
Speaker 3: Dude.

00:25:31
Speaker 6: Speaking of shared cabins, the whole idea when you're in middle school and a teacher tells you to be quiet and you just cannot stop laughing with your buddies. There's almost an even the funnier moment when you're in a shared cabin and it's like some twenty three year old kid who's like had enough with all of the stuff all day, and it's like it's bedtime and there's really no repercussions if you're gonna be like but the fun just like someone just going like far and just like some inside joke that's been like beat too hard all day, Like ah, man, I love that time of night when everyone's just trying to settle down and you just can't stop laughing.

00:26:06
Speaker 3: Did you'll ever do u X bombs?

00:26:10
Speaker 4: Yeah?

00:26:10
Speaker 6: I actually got suspended for one.

00:26:12
Speaker 2: Jack actually broke his left foot.

00:26:14
Speaker 7: Yeah.

00:26:14
Speaker 6: So this is my fourth break sixth grade. I axe bombed the hallway, uh the day before Christmas break or two days before Christmas break. But in gym class, we had a tournament for volleyball that was going on three weeks prior and my team.

00:26:28
Speaker 2: Middle school volleyball tournament in the school.

00:26:31
Speaker 6: Is so elite, unreal, And so the two teams in the championship got to play in front of the whole school at the pep rally going into Christmas break, and my team is on there, and so what do I do? I jeopardized everything I've worked for my whole life layer literally, so I axepom the hallway, and but I don't tell any of my friends. I just do it during a period when I went to the bathroom and then it happens and then everyone's like goes out and it was it was bad and people are like what. My friend's like, what the fuck? And I'm like, you do this obviously they checked the cameras. I'm on it. I get called in the office. My mom gets called in and doctor Kendrick, who was just you can just imagine like one of the vice principals who always had your number, pulls me in and I'm so nervous. And the first question she asked me and my mom is did you know that you could have killed someone when you did this? Because there was a kid who had an allergic reaction. They had to call an ambulance. He couldn't breathe. They take him to the hospital. And I'm so nervous. I go yes, and my mom goes, no, he did not. She goes, he did not know he could kill someone, and I'm like no, no, no. They end up suspending me. So they suspend me for the one half day, which sucks because it's like if you get suspend at least you get a whole day of school off. They suspend me for the one day where this vice principal knew how much it would kill me that I could not compete in front of the school for the volleyball. Of course, my team wins to no one remembers my name. Oh, they're just like, you're that kid with the cast, gotcha, dude.

00:28:01
Speaker 4: The nervous not knowing the answer at the moment is so far because we ever know the answer. Yeah, you like know they're pressing you and it's a fifty to fifty and you just quickly have to.

00:28:10
Speaker 6: Say, I'm like, yes, I would have killed him if I could.

00:28:13
Speaker 3: We.

00:28:13
Speaker 1: I went to a baseball like travel tournament in Cooperstown, like where the Baseball Hall of Fame is, and like it's literally just house after house like of just all of the different teams, and you just get close with different teams and like you would just run and just ast mom and just sprint back to your dorm and it's like the giggles of somebody making a fart noise and the coaches like, shut the fuck up.

00:28:36
Speaker 3: It's like, no, I.

00:28:38
Speaker 6: Always wanted to go to Cooperstown, not to play baseball just to be in the Shenanigans with the boys.

00:28:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was fun, dude.

00:28:45
Speaker 2: I was we're talking about how bad, like how how much of a bummer it is, like that you nobody remembers your name from the volleyball within. I was talking to Connor and he was they went to the Little League World Series and he they made it to like the final or whatever, and he made a Top ten play. So he gets the number nine play and he's saying, you know, in my head after it happens, I'm thinking, I'm like, man, this one could make it on TV. And he said that they were. I think they might have even been in studio when Top ten Plays was rolling number nine from the Little League World Series team Nashville. There's a play like, you know, pop out play and they said the wrong name.

00:29:26
Speaker 6: It doesn't even matter at that point, it's like you wish you hadn't even made.

00:29:29
Speaker 3: The play exactly.

00:29:30
Speaker 2: Can you imagine being in middle school, you're on Top ten Plays, You're watching it and they don't say your name.

00:29:35
Speaker 6: Like, well, we can't really see if that's you. I don't know exactly.

00:29:39
Speaker 3: Dude, that it's me.

00:29:42
Speaker 6: Your boy boys are like nah, man, that's not exactly.

00:29:45
Speaker 4: What number was your top ten player?

00:29:47
Speaker 1: Number three? And they they were like, uh, just fortunately Mitch made the catch. Unfortunately they lost the game on a number two. And it's like it was the back out to or whatever. It's like Paul custs to lead to thirty.

00:30:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, unfortunately they lost.

00:30:04
Speaker 2: You have the highest top ten play in the office. Yeah, it's true, well Taylor what technically was on the number one top ten play.

00:30:11
Speaker 3: But for a long time, dude.

00:30:13
Speaker 6: It's it's sad that the top ten is just not what it used to be. It doesn't even mean any sports.

00:30:19
Speaker 4: And just they don't have that ticker anymore. Oh no, no web gin top ten, no cool segments.

00:30:25
Speaker 1: The tweet was like eating a bowl of cereal cereal and racing that time up in the top left just to see the top ten.

00:30:31
Speaker 3: So you have to go reach the bus or whatever. And it's like it's nowadays.

00:30:35
Speaker 4: Just don't well the anticipation.

00:30:36
Speaker 2: Well, and that's the thing it's like, because it would always come on at like, say, if you're watching at eight am, it would be the top ten players would come on at like eight fifty three, and for whatever reason, always in your head, you had somewhere to be a nine, and it's like, I hope I can stay till number one, like, and I don't leave too late. And it's like, now you're older, it's like TV is scheduled. Yeah, Like it ends at the same time every single day.

00:30:58
Speaker 4: And it's just a bunch of talk show where they arguing with each other.

00:31:01
Speaker 2: But but I'm saying is like you're every single day you're thinking like, man, maybe it ends early, but really it's like every single day it ends at the exact same time and you're always late. But man, that top ten.

00:31:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, And like back then too, you didn't realize that they just the next hour is the same exact show.

00:31:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, or the hour before.

00:31:23
Speaker 6: We've all been in that situation staying up too late where you've hit like your second or third run of Sports Center and you're like, I gotta turn this off.

00:31:30
Speaker 3: It's fun anymore.

00:31:32
Speaker 4: Now look at us, man, Now we are a sports center.

00:31:39
Speaker 3: How long we've been going? Derek? Fuck, we got more?

00:31:46
Speaker 4: Yeah, at least we need at.

00:31:48
Speaker 3: Least ten your tennis, we need camp Camp's race.

00:31:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, which one do you want to start with?

00:31:54
Speaker 5: You?

00:31:54
Speaker 2: All right, y'all were here when I got to texta I was that I was playing singles. I was ll be anxious. I started getting nervous, so we took to the courts. I got that text on wind this past Wednesday, and on Friday, I hit up my boy Tyler. He's a grinder. He's similar level to me. We didn't grow up, neither of us grew up playing tennis. But he's athletic and he's in shape, one of the most in shape people I know. And we go play Friday at Shelby Park and it is just a two match grinder and I'm up five to two in the second set and my fingers start, my blister pops basically, and I'm thinking I can't, like, I can't quit now, Like I know, I gotta stay healthy for my match.

00:32:36
Speaker 3: We push it.

00:32:37
Speaker 2: I'm starting to like serve with my pinky out, hit four hands with my pinky out. It's falling apart. It gets to five to five and I'm like the number one thing in my head, I'm like, dude, I cannot go to a tiebreak, Like my hand's just gonna get worse. But now I'm also like, I don't want to be that guy that's like it's five five, and I try to quit. So it's his serve. I tell him, like, dude, we I have these blisters. I do not want to go to a tie break. Next next service game wins, and it's your serve. I end up beating him and then so you know, he's a good friend. So it's like, oh, bro' you're a punk, Like you quit, you gave up whatever, Go buy some tennis shoes on Saturday morning. Matches on Sunday, I'm wearing my tennis shoes all day. I wear them out to Sam Volleyball. I'm as Sam volleyball, haven't played in a while, and I'm feeling it.

00:33:24
Speaker 3: I go and make one play and I try to hit it back over.

00:33:26
Speaker 2: My head and my shoulder pops twice, and I'm thinking that initial fear you get when something pops and you're just like, dude, did I there's no shot that I dislocated my shoulder, but it popped twice. I'm like maybe it was in and out and it's fine, and ultimately, like I'm moving in around and it still hurts today, but I'm like, it's my left arm.

00:33:44
Speaker 3: It's all good.

00:33:45
Speaker 2: But that happened in game three of this series in Sam volleyball in the championship. So now there's a narrative starting of JP. He punks out in the biggest moments, which kills me. Match day comes. My shoes are broken in. I met up with the boy is out of Germantown actually on Saturday. They saw my tennis shoes, all white, Adidas breaking them in. And dude, the feeling because I've never really did an individual sport and I know it's just rec league tennis, but that feeling of stepping onto the court in an individual sport when you haven't competed in a while and you get that anxiousness.

00:34:20
Speaker 6: It's all on you.

00:34:22
Speaker 2: But man, it's like and when that first serve happens, it's like, this is what it's all about. Like I'm finally back out here in the arena again competing and dude, not know, none of you guys are tennis fans really, so this is the worst part about my matches.

00:34:37
Speaker 3: I got.

00:34:37
Speaker 2: I got beat six two sixty one, but it was a lot closer than the score.

00:34:42
Speaker 3: I remember you saying that every point went to Uh dude, we went to deuce.

00:34:47
Speaker 2: So many times, which is basically forty forty and we're in grinders off points, Like we probably had two or three twenty plus shot rallies, which is crazy. In tennis, you make a top ten play, you doing a twenty shot Rally's French Open. Fortunately we're as centennial. But this guy, he was, he just he made way less mistakes than me. I had plenty of. I like to verbally abuse myself, especially in uh in individual sports, you know, I like, look over at sitting, I'm like, I'm worthless. I should never step out here. Why Like why do I do this? But then the very next point, I'm like, we'll probably win code. My coach comes over talk to me. He's like, you gotta work on self talk. I'm like, dude, trust me, Like I need this. I've moved on in the next point. But it was one of the most fun, probably one of the most fun days I've had all year, and just to and it's a sport I didn't grow up competing in, so like to do something new. And I know that I had fun because getting my butt whooped sucks. But it's also like I can't wait to can't wait to go back.

00:35:51
Speaker 3: So do you have another one this Sunday?

00:35:53
Speaker 2: Well, I'm gonna be in Japan, so it's my Japan training arc. And when I come back, yeah, heads will be taken.

00:36:00
Speaker 4: You come back with like this Samurai Headman.

00:36:02
Speaker 2: Samurai Headman, hopefully at katan Katana. But yeah, it was, it was, It was a blast. What later on in the season, I'll have to I'll send out the official invite. Yeah, and I'll get some lessons from Jack's mom.

00:36:15
Speaker 6: Yeah she could, she could, definitely.

00:36:17
Speaker 2: My serve was struggling, only double faulted like two or three times, but zero pace on my serf.

00:36:23
Speaker 6: On Sunday, she'd probably be out there. She's played thousands.

00:36:26
Speaker 3: Of match.

00:36:28
Speaker 7: Centennial utsa mixed doubles tournament with your mom. She's won the whole state in nationals like three times before. She's older now, so but she was.

00:36:40
Speaker 6: She's a I've met like moms in passing in my life where they're like your mother's Kathy McPherson. They're like, you know what she is to Nashville's Tennessee And I was like no, like no, but thank you for telling me. That's beautiful.

00:36:55
Speaker 2: That is a Kathy McPherson is a great tennis name.

00:36:59
Speaker 3: Dude.

00:36:59
Speaker 6: I'd love to get out and hit some rallies too. If you ever need someone just to hit be a wall with. I'd love getting out there and playing tennis for.

00:37:05
Speaker 3: It's too hot. Why didn't your mom go pro? Dude it?

00:37:09
Speaker 6: Yeah, mom, why didn't you go pro?

00:37:12
Speaker 3: Like? Did she get into it later?

00:37:13
Speaker 6: My mom got into it later. She was more volleyball player growing up and then uh, when I think as.

00:37:20
Speaker 4: Exactly, so why didn't you go pro volleyball?

00:37:22
Speaker 6: But she her like peak was probably between the ages of thirty five and fifty, and she was that like when we were growing up. She was very, very involved in tennis, competitive fleegue tennis. So she still loves it.

00:37:36
Speaker 3: So that's ball. He yeah, I'll feel me next time.

00:37:40
Speaker 4: Coop can't try it. First of all, has anybody in here been to like an Ironman race for like any other friends or family.

00:37:47
Speaker 3: Nor to an iron Man but Triathlones.

00:37:50
Speaker 4: I'm sure it's similar insane the crowd because you have and this is the second one I've been to now, and I think that's one of those things where the crowd is pretty consistent of what it's every time, because there are some people that die for this shit. Over two thousand racers and then all the stuff that's blocked off and then you have like almost tripled that for like family supporters. I mean Camp had six of us, So like that's for every race. Like it's just insanely busy. Just everything in that city basically shut down in that radius. But it first of all, where I already said first of all, Second of all, shout out to Camp because when you you've grown ass man with a full time job and a wife, and like the amount of training that goes into that, especially for your first time, I mean you're always training. It is like almost another full time job. Yeah, So like I kind of kept hat like camping up days like when he goes to the lake and swims to train, like you have to swim every day after work, swimming at like the local like gym, and then biking like finding a group to bike with like really practice and then running.

00:39:00
Speaker 6: Is it one mile swim one hundred mile bike marathon is ironment?

00:39:04
Speaker 4: It's just over a miles swim, like fifty six miles biking and then fourteen running. I think it's a half iron man. Uh. Unfortunately, the wind on Sunday was insane, like hurricane level win Like the lake the waves were like capping. It looked like they bring me a triangle out there. It was they canceled the swim, which sucks because it like and there's they so they canceled the swim for everybody, the professionals, because there are people who are labeled. I didn't know and really until this one, I didn't even know what the last one. There's professionals. They let them swim three hundred and fifty meters and then like calculated their time based on that. Like, like I said, there's people like that is their full time job, which is just insane. But it sucks that Camp didn't get to do the swim, but he got to. We saw him take off on the bike, which was cool. The way that they do it's like waves like boom boom boom, and and then they like release a crowd and then he was off and then we didn't see him on the bike because they just go off sixty miles.

00:40:08
Speaker 3: Uh.

00:40:09
Speaker 4: It was in Texas, in Lake Louis, like little Elm, just to their first time hosting to which the logistics of that crazy there. I know, there was some like incidents like this one woman got like got hit by a police car while she was biking, got like helicopter away. I'm crazy. I found that out after. But it's fun because on the AB you can track like certain checkpoints and you can see their pace like slow down for everybody.

00:40:33
Speaker 6: I'm struggle.

00:40:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, but it was sick and it was fun to be like even though we're when he got to the run, we got to see him every because of the run is laps, big laps, so like every thirty minutes we would see camp come by and were like let's go, but uh oh. And also the crowd they let you cross like the track like they have like ushers that kind of like say okay, you can go now. Big crowd about to cross this like big, like almost near the finish for like the professionals that they were getting done. Everybody else was like halfway into the race, we all cross and I come within like an inch of hitting a runner because like they're all like shovel on something like my go, go go, Like I didn't, like, we didn't hit anybody our crowd. But there's like these spectators that are like, oh, come on, oh, they're eighty miles into a race. First of all, it's not even eighty miles but I'm like, I'm like that brother. They they told us to go, what do you want from us? I would do better if I just went weaved with it.

00:41:33
Speaker 2: But the crowds don't get enough credit. They show up to Ironman's marathons because.

00:41:39
Speaker 4: All the signs too. Yeah everybody see you.

00:41:41
Speaker 2: For five seconds. Yeah, I'm like, I understand, you trained hard, you did a lot of these things, but this race started at five am, and now I was here at five am just to see you for ten seconds.

00:41:52
Speaker 4: Insane, but it is it is worth it for the finish. The finish is really fun. We got a good spot like camped out the finish line and these all big spectacles. Some people I was praying Camp didn't do this. Like Camp finished like you know, like at his pace like he said, I like and ran. There was like some dude like jumping like hype like like all this, Like people would.

00:42:15
Speaker 3: Like just sick if Camp hit the job, if.

00:42:18
Speaker 4: Me and me and diego my my future brother in law. Were kind of judging some of these people because they were like really making it all about them as across the summer, like all right.

00:42:28
Speaker 2: Like come on, miked up at one of these events would be all time.

00:42:32
Speaker 4: But then Camp Cross Normal, I was like, that's my fucking dog and you know what, breaking news. I'll bring it right now. Job, job's not finished. Didn't get to do swim camp compsog has signed up for an iron Man in October to finish what he started and I.

00:42:46
Speaker 3: Will be back for that shout out.

00:42:48
Speaker 6: Camp Is that in Texas as well?

00:42:49
Speaker 4: It is in Waco? Surem stopping ground?

00:42:53
Speaker 3: Is it full or half half?

00:42:55
Speaker 4: Okay, maybe full in the future.

00:42:56
Speaker 3: I don't know, dude, that shit is.

00:42:59
Speaker 1: I've done like afline and it was three hundred meters swim, a five k run and like a fifteen mile like by the end of that, I was so tired. Swim man like it was and I the swim took me like three minutes because of the current being so fast.

00:43:16
Speaker 3: But like miss on his back, just floating back.

00:43:19
Speaker 1: It was swamming in the Cumberland and it was freezing and that water is disgusting.

00:43:24
Speaker 6: I was gonna say, man, I've lived my whole life and I've never swam in the Cumberland. But is it by the Titan Stadium or is it Yeah, dude, where all the barges and boats go needles and dead people there and.

00:43:36
Speaker 1: Like the place to get out of the water, and I don't know how it is or would have been there, but it like bottlenecks, So like there's seventy five people trying to get out in like a ten foot like wide area.

00:43:49
Speaker 3: And you're just getting you just get take your chance of kicking.

00:43:52
Speaker 1: People, like you'd start to get like worked up and you just have to like calm yourself down. But I mean that I thought I was gonna die during it.

00:44:00
Speaker 4: Do the bathroom thing is funny because I was thinking, like you're you're going through all these fluids, but you're like you're going through them, so like I didn't think Camp. And like he's in the suit, he finishes the race, he's like, we're like, dude, your time like kept getting slower. So he's like he's like I stopped every lap to pee like twice, and he's like he's like I had to pee so the whole race. I was like, dude, I couldn't do that. It would take me two minutes before I had to pee again, right yeah, with my bladder.

00:44:25
Speaker 3: I mean, shout out Camp, shout out Camp.

00:44:28
Speaker 4: I hope he gets to swim the next one. Because like I said, jobs on finished and also both iron Man's that I've gone to support friend brother swim got canceled for both of them. So if the swim gets canceled in Waco, I can't I can't.

00:44:41
Speaker 6: Show up to you got to compete next time that.

00:44:45
Speaker 4: They would just get canceled. I can't be near it.

00:44:47
Speaker 3: Is he gonna get a tattoo?

00:44:49
Speaker 4: I don't think so, because that was another thing. Me and Diego were like, look at everybody's ankle, they all have it. If he did a fool, I'd be like, you gotta get the test you are an iron Man.

00:44:59
Speaker 3: Yeah, there was.

00:45:02
Speaker 4: I mean the tattoo was very prominent. I noticed that in Florida, to the first one I went to, everybody has it in like the same place, like on their ankle calf area.

00:45:09
Speaker 3: The end of the day, iron Man is a scam.

00:45:12
Speaker 4: You pay a lot to do it.

00:45:13
Speaker 3: Yeah, how much is it?

00:45:15
Speaker 4: I forget exactly. I'm sure the fools like way more. But you have to pay hundreds for the race itself, and then you know, like the bike, the suit, it's all expensive.

00:45:29
Speaker 3: I think the triathlone here was like one hundred and fifty.

00:45:32
Speaker 4: And It's funny because my brother was saying, like, there's some people with these nice bikes that he was passing and they were just going snail pace, and he's like he's sitting there thinking, like, why'd you buy this bike? Yeah, thousand, you're just going why, Like why are you? Like if you're not like try, like if you're just doing it to finish, why did you buy this bike?

00:45:51
Speaker 3: There there were bikes that's literally sound like Transformers.

00:45:54
Speaker 4: Going yeah, and the professionals. It was funny. They all like it looked like a face's army. They all out of the water. They were the same height, like they all had the same suit on, like all they have the best gear. They all looked the exact same and they had like helmets that made him look like they were from tront Yes, yes, and they all had the same one. I was like, no, way, Camp has that helmet. I would have known about that. But Camp edge the whole race gives the biggest supporter. But I was like, Camp, you can't be celebrating across the finish line.

00:46:26
Speaker 2: I'm glad you didn't know Tron helmets.

00:46:28
Speaker 3: No celebrating across.

00:46:29
Speaker 4: The Tron hillsers wild. It literally looked like the grid like people were just running out. They were all it was insane.

00:46:36
Speaker 3: We should do that. There's a Spartan race in Nashville in October. We should do it.

00:46:40
Speaker 4: But five k that's like boot camp, right, it's like the tough, like a budding brace, like where you.

00:46:47
Speaker 1: Go in the mud and the Yeah, there's like there's like so many obstacles.

00:46:51
Speaker 4: There, monkey bars.

00:46:52
Speaker 3: There's like monkey bar ones. You gotta.

00:46:56
Speaker 1: Carry like like a thing of rocks. Like there's no point in any of it. But it's just like a like if you're a Spartan or no. Yeah, I want to do.

00:47:05
Speaker 4: A Spartan and I are man in today's world.

00:47:07
Speaker 1: One of the one of these years, I want to do high rocks and I think, Jack, you're gonna you would be.

00:47:12
Speaker 6: Yeah, my gym is huge. High rocks proponents like the New Age CrossFit. Uh a legit question. There there's five events. It's a it's inside usually like a convention center, and you'll run I believe it's yeah, a kilometer. You do squatted uh medball tosses, you do sled pushes, you do burpie broad jumps, Yeah, farmer carries and by the end of it usually like really high competing teams anywhere towe in like fifty seven minutes, like an hour, and then anywhere after. That's kind of in it. But yeah, my gym has some real hard oh shout out booth Camp. It's a fucking awesome place to get better. But we have two girls who went to or nationals excuse me not Nationals glow Globals or whatever they call it. Yeah, Worlds in France and Place third like their absolute machines. One's name is literally machine Meg. Shoutow Machine Meg. But High Rocks is a very intense thing. Jack Jones and broads are doing it in New York and in May, so that'll be that'll be fun. But it's high Rocks. High Rocks h y R o X I think. But yeah, it's kind of like the new age CrossFit games if you want with less uh like barbell weighted stuff. It's more like body work and then med balls and sled pushes and then kettlebells mer yeah, more like definitely, but it's it's taken over. If you're in like a gym community, you've probably seen High Rocks athletes. But yeah, I don't know, I'm I'm up to talk about it. I'm kind of waiting to see if the wave dies down. Just stick with the iron Man.

00:48:57
Speaker 4: Check it out of them. Last year with Taylor, Yeah, I know a murph. No, we're going to do it lips I think.

00:49:04
Speaker 3: But it was a Memorial Day week.

00:49:07
Speaker 4: I couldn't remember why. Yeah, that fizzled out.

00:49:10
Speaker 3: The booth game does the murph every year? Right?

00:49:12
Speaker 6: Yeah? I did two years ago. Definitely will get you the pull ups and push ups with the way to vest start eating you alive. But it's for a good cause, man, so do it.

00:49:23
Speaker 1: I think like after last year, every year I want to do something like physically challenging, but not like it just kind of like a legit event kind of thing.

00:49:35
Speaker 6: Yeah, just on your own. Yeah, because people, you can do an iron Man just on your own. Yeah, if you want.

00:49:40
Speaker 3: Let's go for a ten mile run for fun, which is.

00:49:43
Speaker 6: Insane to do you celebrate that win? Would you allow the celebration if you did a solo iron Man?

00:49:50
Speaker 2: To me, that's way more impressive the solo.

00:49:53
Speaker 4: If you did a solo, you don't have everything blocked off for you.

00:49:57
Speaker 2: I don't know verse everyone at that.

00:49:58
Speaker 4: I wish I could see the the type of people want to talk about.

00:50:01
Speaker 6: Oh I have a perfect idea, I know exactly, and then there's just a faceless army. I'm still thinking about that.

00:50:07
Speaker 4: See those are the guys who across with like straight face. I'm talking about the is it raining?

00:50:13
Speaker 6: It might be.

00:50:15
Speaker 4: There's also a swim canceled. There's also a guy that ran by in one of the like laps, trying to be a comedian. He's like, Hi, guys, I really have the poop right now. I'm like, dude, just run. He's trying to make the crowd last shut up and people high five in like all these kids that I know they don't know. I'm like, come on, Coop is really a hater, dude, I'm really not. Though there's some people that I'm just like, you're doing too much and they respect them for like I couldn't do it.

00:50:46
Speaker 3: You could do it.

00:50:47
Speaker 4: I could do it. Maybe I'm not gonna try. I probably pulled something.

00:50:52
Speaker 3: We should create our own coup.

00:50:54
Speaker 2: It's super short distance, super short swim, but we charge people like five hundred dollars a person maybe per event. But tell him you can't get the metal unless you do you have.

00:51:03
Speaker 4: To wear busting like official busing merge just.

00:51:07
Speaker 3: For the one event to get canceled.

00:51:10
Speaker 4: Yeah, dude, Luckily all the suits that they wear, well, I think this is how they get you is it's like a multi purpose, Like it's it's not just for the like you're not buying the wet suit just for the swim. It's like a an Iron Man suit, so it's for all of it. So like you have to buy so the swim gets canceled even though you bought this thing for the swim, and guess what it's it's for everything else, So you're good, you know what I mean?

00:51:32
Speaker 5: Did he get money back because the swim was canceled?

00:51:34
Speaker 4: I actually don't know how that works. Probably I would say no, No, I would say no, they still got like their metal for finishing though.

00:51:44
Speaker 1: Did he have like a camp have well, like what was camp wearing? If that kind of sounds weird?

00:51:50
Speaker 3: Ass?

00:51:50
Speaker 4: He was wearing like a basic one like he didn't, you know, describe it more details, guys, you wouldn't even believe it all black, like there's nothing them to describe.

00:52:00
Speaker 3: Just bike. Like the pants I wore were like kind of like not joggers.

00:52:05
Speaker 6: Like biking shorts.

00:52:06
Speaker 1: Yeah, like biking shorts and had like a smaller butt pad and you just swam.

00:52:10
Speaker 4: It definitely looked something like I mean, I a gottas show you all picture I can describe it other than like a black wet suit looking thing. Yeah, And it's funny because after that it was it. It was pretty tight and he's he's chiseled. Hey, strong boy, shout out camp man. It's funny, goes after the race. He's like, because if you're doing it for the first time and you're it's not your whole personality, Like, it's not camps, but sometimes it is for people, y'all know what I mean.

00:52:36
Speaker 2: Dude, I feel like this is truly a stand up comedy set. Like you no, we all know what I mean. Though, Yeah, I'm saying you're crushing it too.

00:52:45
Speaker 4: But we're talking after and camps, like like, obviously he wants to do the swim each train for it, so he's gonna do one more and do the swim. That's decided. That's fine. He was thinking after like he's like, yeah, like, I don't have to do it again. I'm like, could you imagine? Just like they just showed like training like a few months for this Iron Man and the showing up being like, yeah, I can do this too, and they're just quitting and all the professionals like, I think that's hilarious. Yeah, I think it's more funny to be one and done than to be a lifer. Could you just show up and say, yeah, I can do this too. I'm an ironman. We got on that old by.

00:53:17
Speaker 3: All, nothing makes you special.

00:53:19
Speaker 4: Yeah, I saw ironmen at the airport. People flew into little Elm for that.

00:53:24
Speaker 2: To your people, I know, we gotta get rolling here. But this is like one of my uh, one of my friends, I guess he had a friend that was going through Navy Seal training and so they did you know, they made it all the way through to get to Hell week or whatever, and he was like, dude, the number one guy in our class, Like he crushed everything, you know, zero mental breakdowns. But like when they got to the part where hey, Hell Week's over, congratulations, y'all have completed the hardest part. YadA YadA, this one guy was just like, I don't think this really for me. I'm like, imagine going through Navy seal training with all these people a quitting and then at the very end you're just like I don't know if this is really the life I want.

00:54:04
Speaker 4: Same vibe. If camp would have walked away right there, I would be like, that is awesome, Yeah, hilarious.

00:54:09
Speaker 3: I'm sure once he does the full thing, he'll probably be like, yeah, I'm good.

00:54:12
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's I think that's where it's going.

00:54:15
Speaker 2: Good deal Camp Comstock episode and Mitch Carsley.

00:54:20
Speaker 4: Shadowt camp Man.

00:54:20
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that is that is dope.

00:54:23
Speaker 4: And he was just fine after I was like, dude, I would be dead and that I'd be like Michael Jordan on the ground. And then and then guys there were I'm sorry. Last week they had like a massage table station that all these racers went to and got the like their legs massage after the race, and it was just lined up with the like massage table massage. All these people get massage, not Camp just saying.

00:54:43
Speaker 2: I have got one, unfortunately, just to let you know, but I'd been on that table.

00:54:48
Speaker 4: Well, you gotta get in line because there's wait in line. People like trying to stay loose still like while they're in line, so they just don't freeze up.

00:54:57
Speaker 3: It's out Coop.

00:55:00
Speaker 4: Thank you for tuning in to episode forty the Mitch Carsley episode and then Dirk Daviski episode next week. I'm actually very excited about that, Dirk goat. Thank y'all for tuning in.
