Speaker 4: Welcome to our two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.

00:01:05
Speaker 2: Welcome back, I number two Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:01:07
Speaker 5: If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. Uh, just so you know, Uh, Brett mc murphy just put out worst records against Power conference teams since last season. Uh, we have the second worst record only perdue as a worst perdue is ozh to fifteen. We are one to twelve. That's fun for us.

00:01:33
Speaker 6: We we really are in the conversation of the worst team in college football right now of the Power conferences. The whole touchdown streak thing, we're having a three touchdowns since yeah, my tenth birthday or whatever it was. It's these Corey Price has like a new one every day too. They're damning statistics.

00:01:49
Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, So you had a couple of details about the Chauncey Billups poker thing.

00:01:54
Speaker 2: What was it?

00:01:55
Speaker 6: Yeah, I guess this is out of the press conference, but I'm seeing it tweeted by Chad Millman, who we know in truck. But it wasn't just that they were doing illegal poker. This says they had X ray machines built into the tables to read face down cards, secret cameras in card trays.

00:02:12
Speaker 2: And this is the cameras. This is the craziest part. They wore contact.

00:02:16
Speaker 6: Lenses that could read marks on cards so they could know what cards were because the contacts they were wearing.

00:02:23
Speaker 5: Yeah, he needs to go ahead and pack his bags. Yeah, that's that's not good. That's not good.

00:02:30
Speaker 6: He's gonna have a lot of time to play cards in the future in prison. If that's all true. That's outrageous. Yeah, someone with that worth that much money to do something that extreme.

00:02:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess you want to win on the uh on the cards.

00:02:42
Speaker 5: All right, a couple of things here, Let's let's go over first of all, the Wimby.

00:02:49
Speaker 2: Did you see Wimby last night?

00:02:51
Speaker 7: He was unbelievable last night. Freak of nature.

00:02:55
Speaker 5: He is a freak free I mean like literally, if he keeps playing like that, if he keeps playing like that, he'll be the best player we've ever seen. Like Michael Jordan and Lebron that debate, I'm not putting Wimby above them, he's not. But if he plays like he did last night, if he is like Anthony Davis is one of the best defenders in basketball, and he just that was against Anthony Davis. That wasn't against some chump, that was against Anthony Davis. And that pump fake where he did a reverse slam and barely jumped stop it and then crossover hits a three and he's fouled. The dude is seven foot four. He scored forty points. He only played like twenty eight minutes. He didn't even play the full game. Forget it. If that's what he is and he doesn't get hurt, he'll be the best player that ever played, period.

00:03:46
Speaker 2: No one's ever gonna be better than that.

00:03:48
Speaker 6: And he was like miss fifteen to twenty from the field, made all his free throws. It was just an insane performance. And the disbelief on the people trying to guard him as my favorite part.

00:03:57
Speaker 2: And he's already the best defensive player in the league.

00:03:59
Speaker 5: Yes, I mean like that, Like he'll be the best defensive player every game he ever plays.

00:04:04
Speaker 2: So then you throw in that forget it.

00:04:06
Speaker 5: I mean I don't expect him to be like that all time, but if he is like that all time.

00:04:11
Speaker 2: Forget it. There'll be nobody. No one can guard that.

00:04:14
Speaker 6: Cooper Flag's an Ember one pick and there's clips of him looking at Wemby like, what are you? But what am I supposed to do about this?

00:04:19
Speaker 2: I mean, just an absolute freak of nature.

00:04:22
Speaker 7: To be seven foot four and could beat you on the dribble and then step back and hit a three pointer is just amazing.

00:04:28
Speaker 5: Cross you over and hit it. And it was Anthony Davis. Anthony Davis is he and Rudy Gobert a the two best defensive big men in the league. And he did it to him. What do you think he's gonna do to like Luke Cornett? I mean, forget it.

00:04:45
Speaker 2: You don't think Walker Kesseler has got something dolled up for him?

00:04:47
Speaker 6: When they play Utah the one and he's like flat footed when he's dunky, he looks silly.

00:04:53
Speaker 2: That play is.

00:04:54
Speaker 5: One of the most amazing plays I've ever seen in my life.

00:04:57
Speaker 7: I think it's PJ. Washington he beat on that play was the pump fake.

00:05:00
Speaker 5: I mean he was killing Kentucky players left and right in that one. So, I mean, I if you weren't watching, you just gotta go see those highlights. I mean, there were two or three highlights in that game that are as good as any NBA highlight I've ever seen.

00:05:14
Speaker 6: Almost ran to bet them to win the championship. Because if that's really what he's gonna be, I don't know how you can take down the spur.

00:05:19
Speaker 2: It's gonna be hard for his body to hold together.

00:05:22
Speaker 5: I mean seven foot four like tall guys like that, they get feet problems, they get shin problems like that, that's the thing.

00:05:28
Speaker 2: But if he.

00:05:29
Speaker 5: Doesn't, that's an unbelievable, unbelievable site. All right, did you see that students from Trinity High School in Whitesville, Kentucky, which is in Davis County. I didn't know we had another Trinity High school. It's called Whitefield Trinity, Whitesville Trinity. I did not know we had two Trinities. But they were at the louver when the breaking occurred, and they were about to walk into the room where they broke in. They were outside the room and according to them, they heard a chainsaw all cutting glass and decided.

00:06:02
Speaker 2: To go the other way.

00:06:04
Speaker 7: Smart move, I guess on their part, and get out of the way.

00:06:06
Speaker 2: A good decision.

00:06:07
Speaker 7: Yeah.

00:06:08
Speaker 5: Secondly, house whites Field Trinity got the money to go the lover in high school. I know you had that kind of money, Whitesville Trinity. But nevertheless, that's kind of crazy. Heck, yeah, you got to you talk about witnessing history. Yeah, I mean we went to the Corvette Museum. I think that was our biggest museum.

00:06:25
Speaker 2: We were at the King's Island.

00:06:27
Speaker 7: Oh lucky.

00:06:29
Speaker 2: How neat is that? I mean, you're putting this is like an international story. It's huge news and you're just a room over when it all happens. It turns out they didn't use a hammer to get in. They used the.

00:06:38
Speaker 5: Hammer to break the glass with the jewels. They used that to get in the window. Outside, they used a chainsaw to the glass. Have you seen the video of them running around?

00:06:50
Speaker 7: Oh?

00:06:50
Speaker 2: I haven't seen video. I've just seen the latter pictures.

00:06:52
Speaker 5: There's like video of them running around inside. They don't look like the most professional group in the world. They're like running around going, hey, hit that, hit that.

00:07:00
Speaker 2: Here we go whoo.

00:07:01
Speaker 7: I mean, like you, but they knew what they were after. Man, they were in and out what they said, seven and a half minutes.

00:07:06
Speaker 5: But to me, seven and a half minutes, shan, it feels like a long time. Yeah, tonight, catch them. I mean like if they were in there for seven and a half minutes, it feels like.

00:07:14
Speaker 7: That's a long time for them to be in.

00:07:16
Speaker 4: The guards just ran the other way.

00:07:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean all the guards were like, they don't pay me enough.

00:07:20
Speaker 7: Are the guards the one that kind of shoot? The Whitefield Trinity students out too, like let's go, get out, get out, And.

00:07:25
Speaker 5: The whites Field Trinity students said they heard the sounds of a chainsaw to glass and then people started running, and it was like that old uh uh what was it cedrit entertainer droke joke, We don't wait to see why people are running.

00:07:39
Speaker 2: We just run at least in them.

00:07:42
Speaker 6: So they just ran and then and got only no run coordinator if you run, no.

00:07:46
Speaker 2: Run coordinator if you run, and I'm running. That's what whites Field Trinity did.

00:07:50
Speaker 7: My first ever play by play was white at Whitefield Trinity. They really they were hosting Drake's Burrell from Yilmburg County. Drake's Burl's a school, it was. They consolidated in Muelnberg County. Now, boy, you look at you at the Whitefield Trinity.

00:08:03
Speaker 2: Did you know they had Louver money?

00:08:05
Speaker 7: I did, not Darryl Walter, but Michael Walter started their go kart racing in Whitesville.

00:08:11
Speaker 5: Really yeah, Well, you're full of all kinds of information. This guy didn't know Eric Monday, but you knew all this.

00:08:17
Speaker 8: Uh.

00:08:17
Speaker 5: Leslie County High School in eastern Kentucky. Their football coach, I think his name is Brian Hubbard has been suspended, UH for two games for inappropriate language. They said he used inappropriate language in front of the team, and he suspended for two games. Now, my here was my take on this story when I saw it. I've been to Leslie County. I love the people of Leslie County. But it must have been really inappropriate. I mean, how inappropriate was this language for it to shock the people of Leslie County?

00:08:56
Speaker 9: Uh?

00:08:56
Speaker 2: You know, I mean this is that's Tim Couch Country. I don't know.

00:09:00
Speaker 5: I mean, first of all, do you think you should suspend coaches for cursing?

00:09:05
Speaker 2: In general? We would not have any coaches. I'll be suspended, Okay, all right, So you're good with cursing my sixth grade football coach, coach?

00:09:13
Speaker 5: So do we think what do we think happened in this room that would lead to not fireable? What is so inappropriate that you're suspended but you're not fireable? I would assume something like sexual would get you fired, and cursing probably wouldn't get you suspended.

00:09:34
Speaker 2: So what's the middle ground?

00:09:38
Speaker 4: Something derogatory?

00:09:40
Speaker 5: Yeah, so you think it's like, yeah, at a player, derogatory.

00:09:44
Speaker 2: Probably that's probably a good call.

00:09:45
Speaker 6: I think it would have to be pretty specific and maybe even aimed at someone or some people, like.

00:09:50
Speaker 2: You're a blanket. Yeah, okay, pointing at the kid.

00:09:53
Speaker 6: But let let's go beat their bleeping you know that happens ever, eat their bleeps. They're bleeping bleep. Let's go their bleeping heads off. You know that's normal.

00:10:02
Speaker 7: But if the coach made it, like you guys said, personal against a group of guys or individual person, maybe that's where he Maybe that's where he crossed the line.

00:10:10
Speaker 2: I'm gonna do this. It's never popular the text maschin.

00:10:13
Speaker 5: The only thing the text machine likes less than my opinion on ice wearing mask is when I talk about cussing. I don't understand, even to this day, why it's okay for coaches to cuss like they did. If your science teacher were to curse at you, they would be fired. If your math teacher were to curse at you, they'd be fired.

00:10:37
Speaker 4: I think mine did.

00:10:39
Speaker 2: Your math teacher cursed at you. What did you do that was so bad at math?

00:10:44
Speaker 4: I was that bad at math?

00:10:45
Speaker 2: You were so bad at math? They cussed that teacher got suspended. You are the dumbest, bleeping he believed.

00:10:56
Speaker 5: I don't understand why we I don't understand why we think it's okay. I really don't. We don't allow that in any other form, but for some reason, coaches just get to do whatever they want to do.

00:11:06
Speaker 7: And if the player clap back, if the player cussed, he'd be expelled from school. There you go.

00:11:12
Speaker 5: The coach can say anything to that player and it's fine. And if the player and then player could be eighteen, a senior in high school, say something back, you're kicked out of school. Just it's to me, like, I don't understand how we allow that. I've never understood. Yeah, I know you're getting in their feet. You're trying to squeeze out every little bit of energy you have. It's not like science where they're in your face, like to the periodic table.

00:11:34
Speaker 6: You know, they're really trying to get you to reach a level you don't normally reach in your performance. But I understand what you're saying. Don't have to f bomb them all the time. But it's everywhere. Yeah, even young teams. We'll ask Ryan, I mean Ryan, Ryan does the same thing.

00:11:50
Speaker 7: I don't know what you're saying.

00:11:51
Speaker 5: I mean you you've admitted to cursing as a coach, right, No I haven't.

00:11:56
Speaker 2: Oh okay, I thought you did. Didn't you get that?

00:11:59
Speaker 8: Go?

00:11:59
Speaker 6: He had a kink in the face, that's right, unintentionally, sorry.

00:12:05
Speaker 2: Little little Morgan. How dare me, little Morgan? He looked at me like I was saying the most outrageous thing.

00:12:13
Speaker 7: I tried to think of which story you were talking about.

00:12:15
Speaker 5: Yeah, I forget it was the hitting the kid in the face, my bad accidentally accidentally, Yes, that's important to say eighty seven?

00:12:23
Speaker 2: Who's up next?

00:12:24
Speaker 4: Justin?

00:12:24
Speaker 2: Justin?

00:12:25
Speaker 9: Go ahead, justin, Hey, Matt Paul about yesterday's our number two. And I'm just gonna say it's probably one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard you guys do, is joking about ice while they're disappearing people off the street.

00:12:44
Speaker 2: Yeah. I know.

00:12:44
Speaker 5: I don't want to get into a political conversation. I don't want to get into a political conference. I appreciate the call. I'm not going to do that. All right, I you know we uh. I gave you my opinion on something. And when I got on the text machine last night, I had people on the right and the left being mad at me. Your your criticism there is on the left, our other people's criticism was on the right.

00:13:08
Speaker 2: That's what we do on this show.

00:13:10
Speaker 5: And so if I don't mean to be disrespectful to you, but as I've said before, when we say stuff, I don't want this show to turn into a political show.

00:13:18
Speaker 2: And if you your.

00:13:19
Speaker 5: General point about there are some things that maybe you don't think we should joke about, I'll take that point. I disagree with you to some extent, but I'm fine with it. But I'm not gonna sit here and have a political conversation on the show. Whether that's hypocritical or not. It's what we It's the way we've always done it. Who's up next, Jerry, Jerry, go ahead, Jerry.

00:13:41
Speaker 10: Hey Man, Tweter, I bear boy. I have to say is when I officiated football, as long as the coach is saying about my mother or my wife, he didn't get the hanky. Mother wife stuff comes out. They got the hanky anyway.

00:13:53
Speaker 8: On Auburn.

00:13:57
Speaker 2: Hank Sorry gotcha.

00:13:59
Speaker 10: Okay, okay, uh, mister yewell Wood supposedly down there, who's a big booster that runs everything right now because Auburn's a booster run program. Apparently he's still back and Freeze. But these next two games against US and All and Arkansas, if he lose one of those games, he very well could be gone. And as far as Sumrall goes, the stuff I've heard is that he only wants to come to Kentucky, but he's not gonna wait around and this.

00:14:24
Speaker 2: But I don't know what the weight around is.

00:14:26
Speaker 5: John Somerral is not gonna take another job before his season ends, right before his regular season ends. So I've heard people say, well, John Somemral is not gonna wait around. He's got to wait around till the end of the year. By the end of the year will have decided whether or not Mark Stoops is going to be the coach. Our game against Louis on a Saturday will have an answer by Sunday Monday at the latest. John Somerral plays the week after, potentially in the A Championship of the American He's not leaving before he's going to announced he's leaving for the season ends, So waiting around is not a I'm not worryorried about waiting around.

00:15:02
Speaker 10: Well, that's that's my big worry in all this, honestly is with some or any of the top candidates is personally, I think they got to make a decision by about Tennessee Tech what they're gonna do now they My worry is Barney waits until you know after Louisville, and it's wringing his hands for two or three days trying to figure out what are you gonna do? And by the time he makes up his mind, some of these guys are he's gonna.

00:15:25
Speaker 5: He'll know, he's gonna know going in the Louisville game. Unless we and I appreciate the call. Unless we're five and seven and the Louisville game takes you to a bowler, Mitch will have made his decision one way or the other by the Louisville game.

00:15:38
Speaker 2: In my opinion, I think.

00:15:38
Speaker 5: The only scenario I can see where the Louisville game matters is if we're five and seven.

00:15:43
Speaker 2: The Louisville sends you to a bowl drew or does not, then it might matter.

00:15:47
Speaker 6: And with Tennesse and Tennessee Tech before that. I mean, shouldn't know even going into that one. At that point, you know what you're looking at, and some are all with him in a hurry there They could be in the playoff. I mean, I think they have the second best odds of the group of five team, So his season could go real long.

00:16:03
Speaker 7: He's a guy that's bigger. Team's gonna come after him. Man, he's a great, good coach. But there's not gonna be anything we can do.

00:16:08
Speaker 5: I mean, if he wants to go to Auburn, Florida, Penn State, there's not anything we can do about.

00:16:15
Speaker 7: That, right, I don't care if he did play here, it's still a bigger better job.

00:16:18
Speaker 2: Now.

00:16:19
Speaker 5: If we were to lose him to Oklahoma State, because we didn't, that's a different question it is. But if he takes the Auburn job, there wasn't gonna be one thing Mitch Barnhard or anybody else could have done. No in my opinion, because that just means he wants to be at a.

00:16:35
Speaker 7: Place that you win, and everybody kind of feels like those home schools are going to go after him.

00:16:39

This is Kentucky sports radio starter with the Okay, I like this song, you know, even though, well, why are you so down on this? I told you he got up, he brought his son out there and then watching you ain't I like it?

00:17:24
Speaker 2: It makes you cry, though, because you're a little sentimental.

00:17:27
Speaker 7: Start talking to this song.

00:17:28
Speaker 2: No, Ryan does cry, don't you.

00:17:30
Speaker 7: I can't start talking about it.

00:17:32
Speaker 2: Listen, Shannon, seriously, he cries over this song.

00:17:35
Speaker 4: There's a lot of songs you can maybe cry listening. This can't be the one you cry.

00:17:39
Speaker 7: He cries the little Bucker room. You talking about your little kid and growing up?

00:17:43
Speaker 2: It's tough. Who's it by? Again?

00:17:44
Speaker 5: I saw him at Country Music for Rodney Acting. Because he's from Harrigant, Tennessee. That's right right next to Middlesworld. So yeah, you you. We talked about this. He got his son up there a country music fans. The son was not the best singer, but had him sing with him.

00:17:58
Speaker 7: Oh what a moment, What a great moment, What a father son moment.

00:18:02
Speaker 2: Made you cry from afar. They didn't even see it.

00:18:04
Speaker 7: No, I didn't. This song it just pulls at your heartstring here that.

00:18:07
Speaker 2: You went to, Uh see the Mumford and Sons like yesterday?

00:18:10
Speaker 6: Yes, I saw Mumford, the Sons and uh Sierra Ferrell, Who's.

00:18:14
Speaker 2: Shirt I'm wearing right now? I mean Mumford was awesome. They were the highlight. But she was just as good.

00:18:19
Speaker 9: Uh.

00:18:20
Speaker 6: I was kind of familiar with her, but it was a great show. Drove down to back to Nashville.

00:18:24
Speaker 2: Don't recommend that. What times you get back? Well before five?

00:18:29
Speaker 9: Wow?

00:18:30
Speaker 2: I did notice though you went out afterwards. It's not like you just got the No, No, we got train in the car. I saw you though at Tootsies or that was before before we did a.

00:18:38
Speaker 6: Lap around probably before, but no, it was construction and all the fun coming home.

00:18:41
Speaker 5: Let me explain again, because we we always get new listeners, and I love that we get new listeners, so some people not may not know kind of the policy of the show. I do not think on anything we talk about that our other people's opinions are not equal to or maybe in a lot of cases better than ours. However, this is an entertainment show, and in order to do that, we have to keep it entertaining the moment people start. The moment we start having discussions that are not entertaining, we lose people. I know people don't necessarily want me to talk about this or that issue. They don't necessarily like my opinion about this or that. Some people want us to stick to sports. Some people want us to stick to entertainment. Some people want to want me to talk more about politics. I try to balance at the best I can, but once callers get off onto especially politics, to show derails because a guy will say something like he said, and then the guy on the other side wants to say the opposite thing. So that doesn't mean either of those opinions are not worthy, They're just not going to be done here. So I just want you to understand that it's nothing. I mean, it's nothing personal, but like, once you go down that road, then we just have collars screaming about something that's not the topic. Whereas when we talk about it, I can cut it off when I feel like we're losing the audience, which doesn't happen a lot, but sometimes you do. So that's the reason why Ryan h I cut off calls like the one we just have.

00:20:07
Speaker 7: The one thing you're good at is the topics you bring up for the show. Topics of conversation, news headlines, sports headlines, whatever. Maybe hit it then move on by tell you what I really love, Matt, I love this so much is when you get I get tagged in some of your Twitter.

00:20:21
Speaker 2: I like when you get tagged.

00:20:23
Speaker 7: Yeah, I love that.

00:20:24
Speaker 5: As a matter of fact, whatever your opinion is on anything, I think what you ought to do is just tell.

00:20:29
Speaker 7: Ryan, especially if it's like the conversation you have.

00:20:32
Speaker 5: A Yeah, exactly, so I think if you want tonight or today, just tag Ryan and say what you think about Ice.

00:20:40
Speaker 2: Remember, just whatever you think. I think he wants to hear it, don't you. Wasn't there a.

00:20:43
Speaker 6: Time of Ryan was before bed He would put out like what do you think about politics?

00:20:48
Speaker 7: We did a couple of week bring that back, to bring that back again.

00:20:53
Speaker 5: Bon Jovi Shannon has announced they're going to go back on tour.

00:20:57
Speaker 11: M M.

00:20:59
Speaker 2: How old are those guys now? Sixties? They oh ybsolutely yeah.

00:21:03
Speaker 7: Yeah, they were popular like when I was in high school.

00:21:06
Speaker 5: I'll do we think John bon Jovi is I honestly don't know the answer. I'm gonna look it up right.

00:21:10
Speaker 7: Now, honey, he's early sixties.

00:21:12
Speaker 2: Sixty four you're gonna say sixty four, but yes.

00:21:15
Speaker 4: Sixty three is what he is. I'm just telling you.

00:21:17
Speaker 2: Oh, okay, well you looked it up. He's sixty three years old. All right.

00:21:20
Speaker 5: So they're gonna go back on tour. Here's the question, sixty three year old bon Jovi and his band? Would you want to go see him? They have a lot of bangers. I mean a lot of uh were halfway there?

00:21:32
Speaker 2: Oh oh was at his bar on Broadway last night.

00:21:34
Speaker 7: I heard them.

00:21:34
Speaker 5: All that's my that's my version. Oh oh, living on a prayer? Would you go?

00:21:40
Speaker 6: Yeah? The cost would matter, but yes, if it wasn't outrageous.

00:21:44
Speaker 2: Outrageous, you go? Would you go?

00:21:46
Speaker 7: I absolutely would go? Yes, But you know, I saw their documentary on him where he was trying to make a comeback and he just didn't have the voice anymore.

00:21:53
Speaker 2: That was it's got. He has some songs that would be hard to sing, right, I would think, what do you think, Shannon?

00:21:59
Speaker 4: I never really was a fan of his, so I probably wouldn't go even if he.

00:22:02
Speaker 7: Was thirty cowboy.

00:22:04
Speaker 5: But you know, my most guilty pleasure the whole when we used to do the guilty Pleasure song. See, some people will say guilty pleasures are like Party in the USA. I don't consider that a guilty pleasure. That's objectively a fun song. Guilty pleasures are when you like something like bon Jovi Bed of Roses in Guilty h Gilded Age. Those are guilty pleasures. I don't like to admit I like bon joviy Bed of Roses. It's an objectively awful song, but when it comes on, and I sometimes play it so that it comes on, I'm a fan of.

00:22:40
Speaker 7: The Runaway album was game changing for me. It came out like my senior year, high school, freshman year of college, runaway Dead or Alive?

00:22:47
Speaker 2: And then is that on that one? No, dude, who's up next?

00:22:51
Speaker 5: While they're talking about young Guts too soundtracks ahead of Russ thirty seconds ago.

00:22:58
Speaker 11: Jad.

00:23:00
Speaker 12: Matt, I'm Russ from McRib to prime rib and vagrancy in uh in Mayberry, Well, a lot of Do you think there'll be a lot of plane watching when as our have it, you know, as we like to watch the planes come in for potential coaches.

00:23:17
Speaker 2: This is if.

00:23:18
Speaker 5: Kentucky had If Kentucky has a coaching search, this will be the most open one we've ever had. Eight nine two twenty two eighty seven. I said I was gonna do it after lunch. Joe Flacco, uh had a great comment yesterday.

00:23:33
Speaker 2: I already liked Joe Flacco.

00:23:34
Speaker 5: He's already old, he's he's he plays for the Bengals, and I, for purposes of the bar root for the Bengals. I'm going to the Bengals Bears game here in a week and a half. Nice he was on. He did a press conference and they said they're like, what's changed since you're forty? And he said, you know, when I was younger, I would see an old guy over forty eating by himself at dinner, and I would think.

00:23:59
Speaker 2: Poor guy, he's lonely. He must be miserable.

00:24:03
Speaker 5: I would like to go sit and help him, and he goes, now, I look at it and say that would be awesome. He was like, now I see why it's great, and I thought, Joe.

00:24:13
Speaker 2: He gets it one hundred percent. Ride eating by yourself very underrated and I'm a big fan of it me too. I don't even think you have to be forty.

00:24:22
Speaker 6: I love going to just sit at a bar by myself and just stare at the TV or talk to the stranger next to me. I've made friends I still talk to today because I was just sitting in a hotel lobby and by myself and struck up a conversation at a bar.

00:24:37
Speaker 5: I'm good with sitting at the bar and reading the New Yorker. I don't even need to interact. There's something free like a meal, like not having to be pressured to have conversation and just sit there and enjoy it. See the atmosphere where you are. I love it, and Ryan, you need to start loving it because this is your life.

00:25:00
Speaker 7: I'm exactly the opposite of you. Guys. I have to be with somebody, I have to eat with somebody, have to hang out with somebody. Why do you think that I don't know. I don't like being by myself at all.

00:25:11
Speaker 2: Ever, no, like ever, no do you want whatever?

00:25:17
Speaker 7: Ever?

00:25:19
Speaker 5: So like you have a night where yoga girls out of town, Yeah, and you know you're gonna be by yourself.

00:25:26
Speaker 2: What are you doing?

00:25:27
Speaker 7: Probably going to a high school game, football game, or like tonight there's a freshman football game. I'm thinking about going.

00:25:32
Speaker 5: You're going to go to freshman football thinking about the people that you do not know.

00:25:37
Speaker 7: I know of some the dads, the dads, doctor's kids playing.

00:25:41
Speaker 5: So you would rather go to a freshman football game than sit by your.

00:25:45
Speaker 7: Sent a home by myself, watching TV with nothing to do, nobody to talk to. Yeah, if you had like.

00:25:50
Speaker 6: A craving for a restaurant, nobody could go, you wouldn't just go eat it alone? Uh huh No, I've been to like I've been to Jeff Ruby's in the dining room table of one before and it did not bother me.

00:26:02
Speaker 2: So when when's the last time you ate alone? Like out nineties eighties?

00:26:14
Speaker 7: What about when you're out of town?

00:26:15
Speaker 2: Do you just take it back to your room?

00:26:18
Speaker 7: I don't think I'm ever alone out of town. Wow, I don't travel by myself. I always had a kid.

00:26:26
Speaker 5: And when we do our trip in December, No, don't make me do that.

00:26:29
Speaker 7: We're gonna have the meal.

00:26:30
Speaker 5: Oh where we make him sit by himself in a restaurant, We'll go sit together somewhere else I can't do he will make him.

00:26:40
Speaker 2: Sit by himself in a restaurant.

00:26:42
Speaker 7: I'll be standing up, Matt.

00:26:43
Speaker 4: Hey, I'm over here right now, very.

00:26:48
Speaker 2: Close to fun nice restaurant. You've never thought games on.

00:26:51
Speaker 6: I'm hungry and I go to Drake's and just sit at the bar narrow bread.

00:26:56
Speaker 2: What about like here?

00:26:57
Speaker 5: If you came to watch Kentucky play Perdue on Friday night, you wouldn't just come here by yourself?

00:27:05
Speaker 7: Well, like when you were gone, you know where. I was coming here for Thursday night football for those three or four weeks, but I knew Mario was also going to be here, so I came by myself, and then he and I sat together at the bar and watched the game. I can't do it. I couldn't come just by myself.

00:27:19
Speaker 2: You just got to rip the bandaid off and do it well. Joe Flacco is exactly right.

00:27:23
Speaker 5: There is there is liberty, and there's freedom in being by yourself at a restaurant. Thank you Joe Flacco for for standing up for us. Who's up next, Matt, Matt, Go ahead, Matt.

00:27:35
Speaker 13: If Mitch does power Mark, who do you think his guaranteed higher will be, like, you know, kind of like Mark Cooche was last year? Or I'm scared it's gonna be like a Neil Brown.

00:27:45
Speaker 2: What do you think it won't be Deil Brown?

00:27:49
Speaker 13: If you like to talk, it's like the top Tiers shirt out, you know.

00:27:54
Speaker 2: It won't be Neil Neil Brown.

00:27:55
Speaker 5: I think there's a worry people have with Mitch that like he'll hire some unlike him, that he'll have to go, like he'll go look for a certain kind of personality that people like. I've had that worry in the past. The basketball coaching search took that away from me. So I mean, just think about who his top two choices were.

00:28:16
Speaker 2: Scott Drew is.

00:28:17
Speaker 5: Kind of like Mitch, kind of quiet, conservative, sort of that kind of thing. But then Danny Hurley was the exact opposite. I mean, Danny Hurley is essentially Mitch just reverse everything, and he tried to hire him as well. So my view is, if he was gonna consider hiring Danny Hurley. He did hire John cal Perry right at one point. Then I think he ultimately will pick the guy that he thinks is best, and so don't I don't have that worry.

00:28:45
Speaker 2: Do you have that worry?

00:28:46
Speaker 9: Drew?

00:28:48
Speaker 6: I think he knows he has to nail this. I mean, it's not a legacy higher, but it will probably be one of the last things he leaves the uk UK with, and he knows he's got to get approval with the fan base. I think had somebody that has some juice that comes in here and higher.

00:29:04
Speaker 5: I mean, I think when he leaves, if he leaves next year, the success of Mark Pope and whoever the new football coach is will determine how people look at his tenure. I mean, I don't think Mitch gets credit Ryan for John cal Perr.

00:29:19
Speaker 7: I think he should. He definitely should, but I don't think.

00:29:21
Speaker 5: He does because people have this perception that he was forced into it. I don't think that's fair to him, but I think people think that. I think he gets credit for rich Brooks, but then he also gets the knocks for Joker and Billy Gillespie. So I think this higher how Mark Pope does and whoever the football coach is, will in some ways be Mitch's legacy.

00:29:43
Speaker 7: And that's why we were talking earlier. You know, if he sticks around and make this coaching change, he's not immediately gonna leave. I think he'll stick around and try to help usher in that new era of the new coach a little bit.

00:29:53
Speaker 2: Now.

00:29:54
Speaker 5: I think he deserves a lot of credit because there are three basketball programs you could make a strong argument that have had the strong longest success they've ever had in his tenure. I mean baseball, Yeah, women's basketball both Matthew Mitchell and now and you know volleyball and v and I'll even throw in football. I mean, so Mitch deserves a lot of crapy does. But I do think he needs to nail this higher, just like he needed to nail the Mark POPI if you.

00:30:26
Speaker 6: Pat him on a lot of texture. He probably wanted Steps to have a good year so he wouldn't have to do this because it is what kind of the last thing you did is kind of how your legacy is going to be. And he probably didn't want to be put in this situation, but it's looking like it's heading straight for it.

00:30:38
Speaker 2: You're exactly right, Who's next, Matt, Matt, go ahead, Matt.

00:30:44
Speaker 14: Hey Drew. I hope you had fun watching Sierra Farrell. I seen her live in Firston three times, the last time a Red Rocks in Colorado. She's amazing.

00:30:54
Speaker 2: He's swearing a Sierra fan. She walked right by me. We touched. It was amazing. I'm our biggest fan. It sounds weird, all right.

00:31:02
Speaker 10: Right for Mile, all right?

00:31:06
Speaker 14: Two questions for you. One, Matt, would you ever do a calling show on interrupted?

00:31:14
Speaker 11: Yes?

00:31:14
Speaker 2: I would.

00:31:15
Speaker 5: If we I the forum to have those political conversations would be on that. So yes, that's actually a good idea and I will do that sometimes. Now we don't tape it live, so I'd have to figure out how we were able to get the calls in.

00:31:28
Speaker 2: But yes, I would. I would do that. I think that would be good. All right.

00:31:34
Speaker 14: The other question, I know Reparena's going to charge money for engagements or proposals? Would you guys ever do a proposal show on KSR?

00:31:45
Speaker 2: Appreciate the call.

00:31:45
Speaker 5: We've had a proposal on this show we did at the SEC Tournament and that couple still together and they come to that show at tin Roof every year. Introduce themselves and say we're the couple that got engaged.

00:31:57
Speaker 7: They've got a couple of babies. Now, if I'm not mistaken, Yeah, so we are our success marriage success for eight is.

00:32:02
Speaker 2: One for one, and we charged them zero dollars. We did charge them zero dollars.

00:32:06
Speaker 5: The Department of Justice alleges Terry Rogier told a co defendant De Niro Laster that he would take himself out during the first quarter of a Hornet's game with an injury so Laster could bet it two hundred and fifty nine thousand dollars was wagered on that bet.

00:32:24
Speaker 6: Wow, wait a minute, DeNiro Lester is a former UK football player.

00:32:28
Speaker 9: What oh?

00:32:29
Speaker 2: De niro Laster is a UK footas Like, I know that name.

00:32:33
Speaker 7: Oh my god a while ago.

00:32:35
Speaker 2: Oh wow, oh wow, Well I didn't realize that. As soon as you said that name, I was like, how do I know that name?

00:32:43
Speaker 5: How did they think, like, if you're betting on Terry Roseier first quarter under points two hundred and fifty nine thousand dollars, how do they think that's not gonna get flagged?

00:32:56
Speaker 6: How do they have systems in place that automatically triggered Laura when a bet does is like, forget the word, you know, it just doesn't line up with it's what's consistent betting.

00:33:05
Speaker 7: Then how do they think they're gonna get away with that man? They thought they were gonna sneak that by Wait a minute, de Niro Laster like he played.

00:33:12
Speaker 2: Didn't he? I'm trying to I just the moment you said that name, I was like, I know that name? How do I know that name? And I punched it in Google real quick. I can't remember the year.

00:33:20
Speaker 4: Let me twenty fifteen and seventeen one, season one, Season one, twenty sixteen to seventeen.

00:33:25
Speaker 2: Well there you go.

00:33:26
Speaker 5: If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. The text machine is seven seven two seven four five two five four. Good crowd here at lunch, folks from all over. We'll take a break. Be right back Tucky Sports Radio walking back at his Tuchy Sports Radio A five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is seven seven two SIMP SEMN four five two five.

00:33:46
Speaker 2: Four Matt Ryan and Drew.

00:33:48
Speaker 5: Tomorrow we are at Dom Franklin Nissan out past Richmond Road, UH the UK per new game. Our pregame show will start here at three point thirty uh at ks bar. I'll be doing the postgame show afterwards. I'm really excited for that postgame show, Ryan, because it'll be our first chance to get to see what the team is like and discuss it.

00:34:06
Speaker 2: I'm sure there'll be no overreactions to whatever we say.

00:34:10
Speaker 7: Of course, it will be, well, you know, we win the game, or think we're gonna hang on back and we lose the game on It doesn't matter. This is probably the most anticipated season opener exhibition game I think I've ever been a part of.

00:34:21
Speaker 2: You're probably right about that. I'm not sure.

00:34:23
Speaker 5: Maybe maybe the first Kentucky one when when Cale came like just because we wanted to see it. But remember John Wall wasn't allowed to play in that, so that made it a little bit different.

00:34:35
Speaker 6: And I'm we're all excited about Purdue. I'm just ready to see him again. I'm ready to see that two and a half minute video for Maddness played in reparenda with the crowd. I just want to be in the building again for basketball.

00:34:44
Speaker 5: Let me give a shout out to this guy right here in the front. When I saw you two come in, I didn't think he was gonna order a salad. I like that you're staying healthy, sir.

00:34:53
Speaker 2: I like that.

00:34:54
Speaker 5: There's nothing wrong with There's nothing wrong with being healthy in two thousand and in twenty five this come to this restaurant with all this fried and like food and get a salad.

00:35:04
Speaker 2: That's a man of willpower. I need to learn how to do that. Eighty seven. Who's up next, Matt? Matt? Go ahead, Matt, Hi, guys, what's going on.

00:35:20
Speaker 8: I'm out here in my garden cleaning it up, getting it ready for next year. And I just got a couple of things to say real quick. I haven't meditated yet, but uh, I like to ask Matt Jones. Since your travel the world, do you know what the top four sports are fan based?

00:35:45
Speaker 11: Say that again, do you know what the top four fan based sports are watched fan fan for sports in the world.

00:35:58
Speaker 2: Most popular sport in the world is is soccer?

00:36:03
Speaker 7: Right?

00:36:04
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:36:04
Speaker 5: I would say after that cricket cricket, because you got those countries that are so big, like India, that that that really like cricket. You know, I don't know, I mean, do you consider like track a sport that because that's probably that's probably up there. Almost everybody runs track or does long distance running. And then after that, well, soccer's number one. You're not gonna convince me otherwise.

00:36:35
Speaker 8: Your soccer is number one? Yeah?

00:36:36
Speaker 2: Okay, what else? What are the next three?

00:36:40
Speaker 5: All right?

00:36:40
Speaker 8: Soccer, cricket, hockey, and tennis. And can you believe table tennis is next?

00:36:48
Speaker 2: Yeah? I can. I can believe.

00:36:50
Speaker 5: I'm a little surprised about hockey because like, they don't do hockey in South America, they don't do hockey in Africa.

00:36:58
Speaker 2: I mean hockey.

00:37:00
Speaker 5: I would I would throw a challenge flag on hockey, but the others make sense to me.

00:37:07
Speaker 8: Can I say one more thing? Yes, I was gonna go negative you know about the football team, but I'm not because you know who I am, but because I got my venning.

00:37:18
Speaker 10: Out at work. Shout out to Billy.

00:37:21
Speaker 8: But I went to your show last Friday, and I would like to say a thank you to that sweet, wonderful woman that met me and my wife at the door, made sure that I had a picture with the famous Matt Jones on my birthday. And she worked for I heeart.

00:37:41
Speaker 11: Yeah, I worked for I.

00:37:43
Speaker 2: Heart, And so I will pass the message along that and thank you for coming last week.

00:37:50
Speaker 8: Y'all have a blessed day.

00:37:51
Speaker 5: It was very It was great to meet you, by the way. Twenty two always nice, like we never met him. Always nice to uh to meet somebody when you hear their voice for a long And.

00:38:01
Speaker 7: He's got his own T shirt, says meditating Matt when he walks around now, so we know who he is.

00:38:05
Speaker 6: Spotted on the second he walked through the door in forty six solutions.

00:38:08
Speaker 5: Yes, I just want to throw a little heads up for you. Do you know what's happening in nine days?

00:38:13
Speaker 7: Rhyme nine days Halloween?

00:38:17
Speaker 2: That's ten days, but you're close.

00:38:18
Speaker 7: Okay, that's eight eight.

00:38:21
Speaker 5: Some people are arguing that the best, most stacked horse race of.

00:38:26
Speaker 2: All time is coming in eight days. Really the Breeder's Cup Classic.

00:38:31
Speaker 5: Okay, this year it has journalism and sovereignty. Remember they fought during the Triple Crown, right, it has Last year, you remember it was at Fierceness that was the really good horse and that name Sierra Leone, you remember that name, and then the Japanese horse Forever Young. Those were the big horses. All five of them are in the Breeders Cup Classic. It's some people are saying the best field that they've ever had for a race, and its next Saturday.

00:39:00
Speaker 7: Where is the Breeders Cup in this It's at del Mar.

00:39:03
Speaker 2: It's at del Mar. But there's a little bit.

00:39:05
Speaker 5: There's some people upset because one of the horses, I can't remember which one.

00:39:09
Speaker 2: His owner drew.

00:39:11
Speaker 5: Put in a horse that has no chance to win, like none, just so it would run as fast as it can and set the pace so that he could come from the back. They put in a horse that they think may go off like one hundred and fifty to one, just put it in there.

00:39:26
Speaker 2: And some of the other horse horse owners are calling foul. I would say, so, you can't run a two man game in horse racing.

00:39:32
Speaker 5: They do it all the time. Yeah, usually the horse is competitive. This one, they say, has no chocke.

00:39:36
Speaker 6: This is like Ricky, Bobby and col notught out there shaking bacon. Is this how this is gonna look when the Breeders Cut started something like that.

00:39:42
Speaker 5: But I just wanted to get you ready because you know, we like historic moments. They're saying could be the biggest horse race of Vault.

00:39:50
Speaker 7: Well I knew nothing about it, so I'm glad you kind of alerted this too. At least I can kind of follow it a little bit now.

00:39:54
Speaker 2: Yes, Big Blue Nation Basketball's back.

00:39:56
Speaker 5: You've got your pregame rituals, maybe the lucky socks walking around a hotel lobby or whatever.

00:40:01
Speaker 2: But you also should get your skin check.

00:40:02
Speaker 5: Kentucky Skin Cancer Center is the most trusted name in the region for diagnosing and curing skin cancer. Don't skip your yearly skin check. Go to Kentucky skin Cancercenter dot com two seven oh eight four to two, nineteen ninety nine. It's Kentucky skin Cancer dot com. Before we go, Tennessee lost their baseball coach to the Giants.

00:40:22
Speaker 2: He took a pay cut.

00:40:24
Speaker 7: Made history.

00:40:25
Speaker 5: He took a pay cut to go from Tennessee to San Francisco. First time a college managers has ever been hired in the in the Major league straight through.

00:40:33
Speaker 6: I think you had to do it, though, to go from the major or from college straight to the majors, that's unheard of. I understand why you take a little less money.

00:40:40
Speaker 5: His thing is, you know his players, Remember they would talk trash, They would run with their middle fingers up.

00:40:45
Speaker 2: He would yell, do you think that works in the major leagues?

00:40:48
Speaker 7: I don't. I mean, it's a heck of a risk, heck of a jump that the Giants are making on this move. But I just I just I just don't think it's gonna work.
