<v Speaker 1>Hey everybody, it's Tuesday, April forty, twenty twenty six. Welcome
<v Speaker 1>to the Giant BombCast Episode nine hundred and thirty six.
<v Speaker 1>This week we're brought to you by our friends at
<v Speaker 1>Outer Loop in their new game Dos Divas. You might
<v Speaker 1>remember our friends from SGF last year with the the
<v Speaker 1>burger incident. Thankfully the Night Delight, You're right, I'm sorry,
<v Speaker 1>and thankfully the dev survived that and their game Dos
<v Speaker 1>Divas is out now. Cool sisters, pilot of mech and
<v Speaker 1>in a turn based RBG. It's now out on Steam
<v Speaker 1>and on all of the big consoles. Yeah, if you
<v Speaker 1>like Octopath, if you like Super Mario RPG with a
<v Speaker 1>dash of cooking, Mama Dos A Divas is a lovely
<v Speaker 1>little lamouz boosh for you. Check out the Steam page,
<v Speaker 1>give it a wishless swoop it up if it strikes
<v Speaker 1>your fancy. Because this game is also funded by Outer
<v Speaker 1>Sloth the fine folks that among us, and as part
<v Speaker 1>of that publishing deal, the team gets a healthy part
<v Speaker 1>of sales of each copy sold directly to them right
<v Speaker 1>from the jump. Your support goes a long way and
<v Speaker 1>helping the doves. Dos A Divas out now and by
<v Speaker 1>the way, I'm your host jan Oh Choa joining me
<v Speaker 1>co captain of the ship of this lovely mech that
<v Speaker 1>also does not provide food, does not serve food, It
<v Speaker 1>just consumes it, and not even in a nourishing way.
<v Speaker 2>Jeff Grabb, I'm imagine I'm being nourished by the imagination
<v Speaker 2>of the sliding door situation where the burger did kill
<v Speaker 2>this person and we didn't get this game that universe.
<v Speaker 2>I'm glad we live in this one, guys.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, you know, the we we skirted past a lot
<v Speaker 1>of incidents and and uh dangers that that week over
<v Speaker 1>at the air we survived.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>Speaking of the person survivor, he survived the confetti cannon
<v Speaker 1>and the burger delight. Dan Rykert, Hey we go.
<v Speaker 4>I don't know if I'm going to survive this list
<v Speaker 4>that Mike Manatti made last night looking at it that
<v Speaker 4>has uh, it's his ranking of mainline Mario games that
<v Speaker 4>has more non mainline games on it than mainly eleven
<v Speaker 4>ones that are mainline and nine games at an No.
<v Speaker 5>One wants to have this conversation with you and.
<v Speaker 3>The top of the podcast, like.
<v Speaker 6>I'm taking notes on this and it's just it's a
<v Speaker 6>lot to take in.
<v Speaker 3>The people at home, they don't know who's here yet.
<v Speaker 3>They're like, is Jeff Becklar here is the bed? There's
<v Speaker 3>three or four people wondering that I'm here. To let
<v Speaker 3>them know that, yes, indeed, I am here, thank you, Jan.
<v Speaker 3>And one of those three to four people was Jeff
<v Speaker 3>Backel or himself. So Jeff, you're here, I'm here and
<v Speaker 3>confirming for myself. That makes three of us may be here. Folks.
<v Speaker 1>Hey, Jeff, Jeff, I perceive you right now. Okay, you're real.
<v Speaker 1>You're real to me, but acknowledge me. I'm not a ghost.
<v Speaker 1>You're not a ghost. But he is not a ghost
<v Speaker 1>because he's the real deal, because he's the bird boy
<v Speaker 1>of games media.
<v Speaker 5>My Dan Dan, my my Seapep friend. Yes, look I
<v Speaker 5>love my sea Pep. It's happy, but I feel like
<v Speaker 5>once a year it feels more like I have like
<v Speaker 5>a face hugger from alien on my face. Like I'll
<v Speaker 5>go to sleep and just this one time, I'll wake
<v Speaker 5>up an hour lay and be like, ah, oh.
<v Speaker 3>Do you think it mut without it for one night?
<v Speaker 3>What's that? Do you think it's my house? You slept
<v Speaker 3>without it for one night? I don't know. Yeah, I
<v Speaker 3>had one.
<v Speaker 5>I had like my first night without in a while
<v Speaker 5>because I went to Jeff's house for the weekend. We
<v Speaker 5>had to sleepover, and I was like, I don't want
<v Speaker 5>to my seapap for one night.
<v Speaker 3>I'll be okay.
<v Speaker 5>I don't know what it is, but yeah, like last night,
<v Speaker 5>I just woke up and I was like, this thing
<v Speaker 5>is just I feel like I have an elephant trunk
<v Speaker 5>wrapped around my head and just blowing air up my
<v Speaker 5>nose and it's too much air and I can't sleep.
<v Speaker 5>So I kind of like reset my whole going to sleep.
<v Speaker 5>I'd like take it off tick there for a bit.
<v Speaker 5>It's kind of wait for sleep to take me and
<v Speaker 5>then like sneak it back on me. Thinven that I
<v Speaker 5>just sleep did not take, did not take. I'm a
<v Speaker 5>little I'm a bit of a loopy Mikey today.
<v Speaker 3>Woeah Uh.
<v Speaker 1>You know I I would like one of those portable
<v Speaker 1>Jimmy jams the sea paps. How How can Mike Manati
<v Speaker 1>and I get sponsored by big seapap because I would
<v Speaker 1>love that.
<v Speaker 5>There's this surgery. If you ever looked at that surgery,
<v Speaker 5>that's weird.
<v Speaker 3>They it's it's weird to give you another hole. Yes, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>the hole four like a blowhole.
<v Speaker 6>Do the water spurt?
<v Speaker 3>No, I try smoke out of it.
<v Speaker 2>It's it's like but you can, but it's not meant
<v Speaker 2>to do. It's like gleeking. It's like a glean.
<v Speaker 4>I used to be so good at gleeking until I
<v Speaker 4>add my tongue bubble surgery.
<v Speaker 3>The doctor put it back the way it was.
<v Speaker 4>I could go like bilateral gleeking, and now I'm lucky
<v Speaker 4>to get one spurred.
<v Speaker 3>Don't worry, it's reversible. Listen it. I don't know, Mike,
<v Speaker 3>what is the surgery. I actually am marginally curious. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I'm not.
<v Speaker 5>Sure, but like, there is a surgery and they do
<v Speaker 5>something to your lungs. I think it's almost like to
<v Speaker 5>your lost maker esque but like pacemaker adjacent, but for
<v Speaker 5>your lung I think I'm not even sure.
<v Speaker 3>I'm not even sure. I shouldn't say. I really don't know.
<v Speaker 2>They put the little guys in there that squeeze your lungs.
<v Speaker 5>Say, they put electrodes in you to open your airways.
<v Speaker 6>Wow, and then just stay.
<v Speaker 3>New electrically shock your airways.
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, I guess it is like a pacemaker. Then,
<v Speaker 1>but for your.
<v Speaker 5>Gabriel lyrics, I'll have to make sure, like I'd be
<v Speaker 5>okay to go on all the rides. I want to
<v Speaker 5>still with that. You can't go on Star tours because
<v Speaker 5>you've got the lung pacemaker.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that would be that. That would be the first
<v Speaker 3>question I had for my doctor as well. I know
<v Speaker 3>this is potentially life saving surgery, Doc, but can I
<v Speaker 3>go on the haunted fucking mansion with it? This is Mike.
<v Speaker 4>This is Mike's version of Rick Flair taking out his pacemaker. Pacemaker,
<v Speaker 4>have one more match. I don't know if that's a
<v Speaker 4>good reason.
<v Speaker 3>Quick.
<v Speaker 2>We had an inauspicious start to the podcast. You guys
<v Speaker 2>think it's like time to like cash in our one
<v Speaker 2>freebie where we could just do a bad podcast and
<v Speaker 2>no one gets like that, I can't we get one.
<v Speaker 3>We have a lot of Yeah, what does that mean?
<v Speaker 2>I don't understand, Like if we we kind of just
<v Speaker 2>suck this episode, it's all right, suck, but we cannot
<v Speaker 2>deliberately try to make it bad. I'm just saying they're like,
<v Speaker 2>I don't have high hopes. I always have high hopes.
<v Speaker 2>I'm already there.
<v Speaker 3>You grew up.
<v Speaker 6>Is there a bad direction you wanted to go in.
<v Speaker 2>You see, you seem to be anxious to like approach one.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know, what do you have where I could go?
<v Speaker 4>Look, if we're going all the way bad, I could
<v Speaker 4>go litigate the whole thing again.
<v Speaker 3>But if we do not re litigate, I don't want to.
<v Speaker 3>I don't want to do this.
<v Speaker 4>This seems scary, and I just want to say I
<v Speaker 4>had what I could relitigate the whole thing. I got
<v Speaker 4>notes on the Mike's list of mainline Mario who cares.
<v Speaker 4>Let me just bring up the one thing that litigating. Okay,
<v Speaker 4>Bowser's Fury has more of an argument for being mainline than.
<v Speaker 3>Three D World.
<v Speaker 5>Bowser's Fury is not h in the our back end,
<v Speaker 5>so I could.
<v Speaker 4>I know, but I'm saying it has more of an
<v Speaker 4>argument for being mainline than three D World does. It's
<v Speaker 4>not mainline, but it's closer than three D World.
<v Speaker 5>Is Okay, that's yeah. I actually will not talk to
<v Speaker 5>you about the whole three D World. It's not mainline.
<v Speaker 3>It is It's like, it is a progression.
<v Speaker 4>It is a progression of the three D lineage of
<v Speaker 4>the Mario franchise, whereas three D World is an offshoot.
<v Speaker 4>It's very much more in line.
<v Speaker 3>That makes perfect sense. We an't understand. That's great, Yes,
<v Speaker 3>I don't know.
<v Speaker 5>Uh, Jeffey had a fun time at your house, right,
<v Speaker 5>a sleepover.
<v Speaker 3>A white flag. Yeah, yeah, it was definitely a white
<v Speaker 3>flag of some sort. Damn, that's true.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, that was great. It worked really well. Uh, you
<v Speaker 2>just came over and got set up and it was cool.
<v Speaker 2>Then we went to Top Golf and had a good
<v Speaker 2>time there. We did have a good time.
<v Speaker 5>We got to play the Sonic Comedy game, which is
<v Speaker 5>kind of like a kidmad version of Top Golf because
<v Speaker 5>the Sonic characters was kind of jump and do the
<v Speaker 5>home spin dash thing.
<v Speaker 2>It's the bumper bowl. It's the bumper bowling at Top Golf. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I could use some bumper bowls.
<v Speaker 5>The Angry Bird game was surprisingly really fun because you
<v Speaker 5>did you just sort of play birds with golf.
<v Speaker 3>That works pretty well, it turns out.
<v Speaker 2>And it just gives you, like because there's a bunch
<v Speaker 2>of these big targets on the i'd like shoot targets
<v Speaker 2>out there in the real world, and then it kind
<v Speaker 2>of lines up with those, so you're just trying to like, Okay,
<v Speaker 2>if I hit it like in that part of the
<v Speaker 2>big yellow target, I'll probably get to hit those structures
<v Speaker 2>over there, and it was that was quite fun. It
<v Speaker 2>was also cool to like just kind of like, I
<v Speaker 2>haven't swung a golf club in a long time.
<v Speaker 3>Let me see look at these numbers and try to.
<v Speaker 2>Dial things in and get a little bit better. And
<v Speaker 2>we were getting better throughout the day. It was very nice.
<v Speaker 3>How are you driving, You're driving well, You're doing pretty clear.
<v Speaker 5>Jeft did much better than me. I want the record
<v Speaker 5>to show he beat me in every game.
<v Speaker 3>It took me.
<v Speaker 2>It took me a minute to like get my swing down.
<v Speaker 2>I was starting off like real week and then I'm like, okay,
<v Speaker 2>I'm not like swinging my weight into the ball as
<v Speaker 2>I shift from right to left.
<v Speaker 3>I'm not doing that at all.
<v Speaker 2>Once I started doing that, I kind of got up
<v Speaker 2>to like a somewhat decent for using their club. One
<v Speaker 2>eighty one ninety was my longest carry, Like so it's
<v Speaker 2>like I would like to get the two hundred carry,
<v Speaker 2>but I'm like.
<v Speaker 3>Here, you can. You know you're big enough if you
<v Speaker 3>if you swung the club correctly, you could drive a
<v Speaker 3>ball to So.
<v Speaker 2>I was watching those clips I'm like, oh, I was
<v Speaker 2>not following through the way I needed to be at
<v Speaker 2>That's like one of the big scents there.
<v Speaker 3>But uh yeah I was.
<v Speaker 2>I started at like one forty at the day, so
<v Speaker 2>like ending the day at one eighty five ish. Well
<v Speaker 2>I was like, Okay, if I had kept going, I
<v Speaker 2>would have been much better.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, right.
<v Speaker 6>Game it was Top Golf like monkey Target.
<v Speaker 3>Monkey Target stuff at Top Golf. Yes, yeah, no, no, it's.
<v Speaker 4>Like I mean the Monkey Target because I saw the
<v Speaker 4>clips and you're hitting balls and there's the circles, the
<v Speaker 4>colored circles. That is how the Monkey Target mini game
<v Speaker 4>and monkey Ball.
<v Speaker 5>So there's different modes you can play at Top Golf,
<v Speaker 5>and one of them is basically Monkey Target.
<v Speaker 1>It's it's a gamed driving range basically.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah that's fine. Yeah, yeah, it's great. It's like you
<v Speaker 5>know your pod, you know, you have a table and
<v Speaker 5>you have a server, and so you just order drinks
<v Speaker 5>and food the entire time you're there, right, and so
<v Speaker 5>you know, you just have a nice person bringing you
<v Speaker 5>wings and beer while you're driving golf balls. We were
<v Speaker 5>able to put the Masters on. It was the last
<v Speaker 5>day of that. We've got to watch semesters at top golf.
<v Speaker 5>It's a very pleasant experience.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah that's awesome. Yeah, real good golfs impossible, but that's awesome. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>It's like we were pulling up and I'm like, this
<v Speaker 2>is bowling for people who hate themselves.
<v Speaker 1>It's like all I was gonna say, I enjoy it
<v Speaker 1>more than bowling these days. Really golf, Yeah, golf specifically, Yeah, it.
<v Speaker 3>Does get expensive.
<v Speaker 2>It's like not like so it's like it's going to
<v Speaker 2>be the more expensive of all those things of going
<v Speaker 2>to a driving range, going to a bowling alley, and
<v Speaker 2>then the server is aggressive because they do want to
<v Speaker 2>charge you as much per hour as they possibly can.
<v Speaker 3>But uh, sure it was.
<v Speaker 2>It was definitely worth it for Mike coming into town.
<v Speaker 2>We're hanging out, we need a break, Let's go do
<v Speaker 2>that and then we go do six hours of recording
<v Speaker 2>after that. It was a real good way to get
<v Speaker 2>our bodies moving and hanging out. And I don't regret
<v Speaker 2>it at all. Stuff do do you do course like
<v Speaker 2>golf course golf or I've done that.
<v Speaker 3>I've done it like once at like a par three.
<v Speaker 3>I would like to but it's just a put Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I think, yeah, I have a twenty year plan.
<v Speaker 5>I'm going to get into golf when I'm fifty, but
<v Speaker 5>I need to start working on my drive.
<v Speaker 1>Wait, like they normally people then get into golf get
<v Speaker 1>into golf now, so they're good la.
<v Speaker 3>The whole thing from the beginning.
<v Speaker 2>Like you have, you have a markers on your timeline
<v Speaker 2>going forward, like when you're going to get into certain things.
<v Speaker 5>So I'm going to lay that into golf when I'm fifty.
<v Speaker 5>And in the meantime, I need to work on my
<v Speaker 5>drive and stuff so I'll be able to actually play.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 5>And then sixty is a twenty year plan. Is when
<v Speaker 5>I'm going to really get into fishing. Yeah, fishing.
<v Speaker 3>Oh, that's sixty. It's just some friendly free advice here
<v Speaker 3>about the golf and fifty mic I would uh, I
<v Speaker 3>would like. I feel like it's going to be a
<v Speaker 3>tough thing to just jump right into it fifty having
<v Speaker 3>none of uh yeah, your experience leading to that, that's why.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I mean, look, I'll go golfing before it, right,
<v Speaker 5>I'll get some some of those muscles wor trust be abby. Yeah,
<v Speaker 5>I'm very sore from just doing the drive.
<v Speaker 3>That's good. That's good. That's a good sore. Yeah, good sort, Mikey.
<v Speaker 1>You should have saved those portal hula hoops and just
<v Speaker 1>practice those with your hips to like strengthen the hip hustle.
<v Speaker 3>You don't know this, I've done.
<v Speaker 4>You can't, No one can do it. You're lying, You're lying.
<v Speaker 4>I could do it from.
<v Speaker 3>The top to the bottom and then do the foot side.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah you played fit.
<v Speaker 2>I put it on my body and it's like everything
<v Speaker 2>stops making sense, and so I just don't believe it.
<v Speaker 4>I can maybe get like almost around the circle once
<v Speaker 4>and then everyone just falls to the floor.
<v Speaker 3>I understand I'm being obstinate, but that's just the way
<v Speaker 3>it is. So this is like a good way to
<v Speaker 3>stunlock these guys jan just like you put them in
<v Speaker 3>aop and all of a sudden.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah right exactly, Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm logging all of
<v Speaker 1>this information as well. It's like when you put like
<v Speaker 1>duct tape on a cat's pause or something. That's what
<v Speaker 1>it would be like for me.
<v Speaker 3>That sounds fun. I did. I did like a weird
<v Speaker 3>uh sports this weekend too, I did, I did. I
<v Speaker 3>did bowling, but it was like incredibly high tech bowling
<v Speaker 3>to the point that it was annoying.
<v Speaker 1>Did you have to hack something before you could hit
<v Speaker 1>the pins?
<v Speaker 3>Basically? Right? So they do they do a thing where
<v Speaker 3>they offer alternative games, right other than traditional bowling, where
<v Speaker 3>they're like, oh you can do you know, like an
<v Speaker 3>archery game. I don't know. There's like all these kinds
<v Speaker 3>of strange video games tied around scoring and bowling. But
<v Speaker 3>you know, it was Di's birthday and he had a
<v Speaker 3>couple of friends and they just wanted to do traditional bowling.
<v Speaker 3>I came to realize, like this was like Brooklyn Bowl.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know if you've ever been there, but Brooklyn
<v Speaker 3>Bowl has a system where like everything is acoustically modified
<v Speaker 3>and the bowling system that they use is like designed
<v Speaker 3>to be quieter, and all the pins are on strings
<v Speaker 3>as well. It's not candlepin bowling, it's not. So it's
<v Speaker 3>it's regulation bowling. But the pins are on strings, which
<v Speaker 3>give you false scores all the time because a string
<v Speaker 3>will like around and not a pin problem.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, yes, So the reason this is happening is I
<v Speaker 2>just saw a video about this the other day. There's
<v Speaker 2>the old Brunswick bowling pin machine right that are in
<v Speaker 2>the back there that will scoop up the pins and
<v Speaker 2>set them down. Yeah, give you all the awesome sounds
<v Speaker 2>of bowling that you go there for, because that's the
<v Speaker 2>huge part of it is it just sounds cool to you
<v Speaker 2>bet a bowling alley. That stuff's very expensive to maintain
<v Speaker 2>and becoming more expense. It's like a lot of parts
<v Speaker 2>something like that, like six thousand dollars a month on maintenance.
<v Speaker 5>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>And so it's like, Okay, everyone's replacing these with the newer, simpler,
<v Speaker 2>more boring sound worse pins on ropes, which just like
<v Speaker 2>get picked up and said yeah, and it's like we're
<v Speaker 2>just kind of making the sport worse to keep it viable.
<v Speaker 3>I realized why Brooklyn Bowl did it, because they're a
<v Speaker 3>concert venue and they like want to have bowling going
<v Speaker 3>on while there's a gun playing. Like that's fine, but
<v Speaker 3>if this is like your main attraction, you don't do that.
<v Speaker 3>I really, I mean the amount of money this place
<v Speaker 3>must have spent on everything, because they not only did
<v Speaker 3>have that. Meanwhile, meanwhile, meanwhile you're bowling and all of
<v Speaker 3>a sudden, like all the lights go out mid roll, You're.
<v Speaker 6>Like, what the fuck?
<v Speaker 3>What is this? It's like a rave you can't Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>it's like a rave. You can't even see the arrows
<v Speaker 3>on the lane. You're just like, am I supposed? Am
<v Speaker 3>I meant to take this seriously? Or am I just
<v Speaker 3>having like a muzzarellistick sort of version of this, Like
<v Speaker 3>that's kind of what.
<v Speaker 5>It was, a spreadible way of degrading something, a mozzre.
<v Speaker 3>Chicken fingers.
<v Speaker 2>No, it'sing that to my lexicon, fucking Mozzarelli stick in
<v Speaker 2>a video game.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, way to mozzarellistick to this desert. So I'm pissed off.
<v Speaker 3>I'm pissed off. I didn't bowl as well as I
<v Speaker 3>should have. I still did okay, but it's just like
<v Speaker 3>annoying and I hate it. But there was also this
<v Speaker 3>very high tech miniature golf thing that I have to
<v Speaker 3>just like lasers and top ball tracking and all this
<v Speaker 3>all like they have really leveled up with the mini golf, uh,
<v Speaker 3>where you basically sign in on a tablet before you
<v Speaker 3>go and there's a meter that's running out and you
<v Speaker 3>have to finish the hole before and how quickly you
<v Speaker 3>finished the whole dictates how many points you get on
<v Speaker 3>top of the multipliers and the bonus shots that you
<v Speaker 3>do mid hole so you'll tee off and there'll be
<v Speaker 3>like a level. There was one level that was like
<v Speaker 3>a roller coaster, right, and if you landed in the
<v Speaker 3>correct roller coaster rail, you got one hundred and fifty
<v Speaker 3>thousand points if you went it was very very cool
<v Speaker 3>and that's and it kept scoring teams and stuff. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>so Stace and I took on the three kids and
<v Speaker 3>it was it was a lot of fun. That shit
<v Speaker 3>was awesome.
<v Speaker 1>I know why you like this so much because it
<v Speaker 1>sounds like big pinball.
<v Speaker 3>Uh it is a little big pinball. Yeah, the yes,
<v Speaker 3>the medium molecules discarded entry little big pinball never made
<v Speaker 3>it the primetime but no, I yeah, I just like
<v Speaker 3>there's something very kinetic about it and the fact that
<v Speaker 3>it like mostly works. We played eighteen holes and there
<v Speaker 3>was like maybe one or two that were like a
<v Speaker 3>little banged up that weren't performing the way they should,
<v Speaker 3>but overall the experience was really really cool.
<v Speaker 2>Do you do you see it like represented in like
<v Speaker 2>real like they are the floors like lit up or
<v Speaker 2>something or is it sort of ur stuff like you
<v Speaker 2>look up at a screen to show you where the
<v Speaker 2>like the bonus points are.
<v Speaker 3>So it's not as advanced as that maybe I was
<v Speaker 3>over selling the sort of tracking issue of it. They're
<v Speaker 3>not exactly like tracking your ball. You could use any
<v Speaker 3>ball you want. Everyone must go and finish the hole
<v Speaker 3>in one shot, So they're not tracking strokes. They're not
<v Speaker 3>tracking much of anything else aside from like, are you
<v Speaker 3>hitting these bonus shots and the time it takes to complete,
<v Speaker 3>so you you could you could, honestly, you should play
<v Speaker 3>with a hockey stick, because you're sort of just like, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>you're just puking. Okay, that's what That's what all these
<v Speaker 3>kids are doing anyway, because it's like it doesn't matter
<v Speaker 3>how many strokes, it just matters how quickly I finished
<v Speaker 3>the hole. But the second the ball goes in the thing,
<v Speaker 3>it knows. It's like, hey, you scored this. This was
<v Speaker 3>your bonus, you know. And at the end it's like,
<v Speaker 3>oh wow, I got four million mini golf points. That's
<v Speaker 3>pretty cool. It's dope. It was dope. Other than that,
<v Speaker 3>you know, the bowling left a little bit to be desired,
<v Speaker 3>but man, that has some really fancy screens there.
<v Speaker 1>This this weekend, I solicited the help of the community
<v Speaker 1>because some friends were having a PowerPoint party to celebrate
<v Speaker 1>a friend's birthday. Very good, uh, And I employed the
<v Speaker 1>Jesse Vittelli method of just linking a blank document for
<v Speaker 1>folks to edit, and then I went into its sight
<v Speaker 1>unseen and boy, howdy, let me tell you, I'm very
<v Speaker 1>proud of the GB audience. And let me just say,
<v Speaker 1>I think because of this job, a lot of us
<v Speaker 1>are maybe much better at improv than we may believe.
<v Speaker 1>Because I opened that that presentation the very first slide, uh,
<v Speaker 1>let me pull it up here, I am linking it
<v Speaker 1>here in chat.
<v Speaker 6>I added something as well, very crab heavy.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, very crab heavy.
<v Speaker 1>And I was concerned because the first words I saw
<v Speaker 1>on the first slide was getting.
<v Speaker 3>Loaded up on the goon, The hell is this art?
<v Speaker 3>It's art?
<v Speaker 1>And then I learned, oh, it's yeah.
<v Speaker 3>It's mostly just cream cheese. Mike, Yeah, I like it.
<v Speaker 3>I grab heavy presentation.
<v Speaker 1>I then had to explain who these random people were,
<v Speaker 1>and I'm like, no, no, no, these are my coworkers. That's Dan,
<v Speaker 1>that's grub grubs knuckles, but knuckles crab. So shouts out
<v Speaker 1>to y'all the folks at home for crafting a lovely
<v Speaker 1>PowerPoint presentation for me. Boys, anything else happened.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, before we move on from too much from from
<v Speaker 2>the golf, I do like we did watch the Masters,
<v Speaker 2>me and Mike, and I'm not going to go into
<v Speaker 2>it too much. I just want to ask you, guys,
<v Speaker 2>when do you guys think Augusta National let in its
<v Speaker 2>first female member resonably?
<v Speaker 3>Just to give yes, to give you actually you're going
<v Speaker 3>to do it. Let's do this one. When do you
<v Speaker 3>think it let in its first black person? Thirty years ago?
<v Speaker 2>Eighties, that's that's still clever. Nineteen ninety it was nineteen ninety.
<v Speaker 2>That rough nighteen ninety. It was nineteen ninety. Okay, So
<v Speaker 2>then when do they let in their first woman?
<v Speaker 6>You as the first number, sir?
<v Speaker 5>Nineteen seventy five, It's like the first number it's got
<v Speaker 5>back two thousand and eight or something.
<v Speaker 3>Twenty this is the first number. Yeh, yeh.
<v Speaker 1>I think twenty twelve.
<v Speaker 3>It's twenty twelve. August twenty twelve. It was Condoaliza Rice.
<v Speaker 3>The next part I was gonna would.
<v Speaker 6>I want to deal with that women's Inner Continental champion
<v Speaker 6>as well.
<v Speaker 3>If you were walking around not thinking that golf is
<v Speaker 3>the most racist sport on earth, you're a fucking Sun.
<v Speaker 2>It writes me so much of that scene in Lincoln
<v Speaker 2>where they're like debating Indian slavery and then like what's
<v Speaker 2>next the woman vote and they all just freak out.
<v Speaker 2>It's like, yeah, it's still just that. Wow, that's incredible. Oh,
<v Speaker 2>incredible stuff.
<v Speaker 3>It's got a great vibe.
<v Speaker 2>But boy, every time I look at it too close
<v Speaker 2>to I'm like, oh, yeah, golf, Yeah, don't look behind
<v Speaker 2>the curtain there.
<v Speaker 3>Uh uh, you know what's back there.
<v Speaker 1>Now I am going to get super into golf and
<v Speaker 1>everyone around being plays it's.
<v Speaker 5>Out of s Yeah, makes them really uncomfortable. Exactly, I
<v Speaker 5>shouldn't do this.
<v Speaker 3>Why bring it up? There's no listen, straight up, there's
<v Speaker 3>not a lot of people who say that.
<v Speaker 1>And I'm like, yeah, we have so many games to
<v Speaker 1>talk about today, so many games, so many games to
<v Speaker 1>talk about.
<v Speaker 5>Jan you cut the scarcely shot to start talk about
<v Speaker 5>games whenever I have what question? Because Dan took my
<v Speaker 5>Mario tearless and across everything he thought was the mainline
<v Speaker 5>and of course the usual suspects, Dan, why is the
<v Speaker 5>Japanese super Mario Brothers to not mainline?
<v Speaker 4>Well, I'm talking about the like North American mainline series,
<v Speaker 4>it's racist.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think you can be racist on the moon.
<v Speaker 1>Shouts out to the Artemist two crew for getting home safe.
<v Speaker 1>Uh god, how inspiring is it to go into space
<v Speaker 1>and see how small we are? And boy do you
<v Speaker 1>see a lot of that in prag Mada. All of
<v Speaker 1>us except Grub has played.
<v Speaker 2>And I'm gonna be playing it Friday for the giant bombs,
<v Speaker 2>Mike Manatti's launch.
<v Speaker 4>Look percent and the post game stuff and I'm going
<v Speaker 4>to start new game plus and then is fucking incredible.
<v Speaker 3>I might love that game.
<v Speaker 1>Mike Manatti has a review on the website right now.
<v Speaker 1>But Jesus dang Christ, guys, this is the most video
<v Speaker 1>game as video game, Yes, in the best ways possible.
<v Speaker 2>Uh.
<v Speaker 3>Sean had a thread about it on.
<v Speaker 1>Blue Sky that I really enjoyed hearing his thoughts, and
<v Speaker 1>I think this might be up there in one of
<v Speaker 1>my favorite third person shooters.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, absolutely, it's one of those that like this.
<v Speaker 4>I was pleased from the moment I took control of
<v Speaker 4>that game, because, like I had only really like seen
<v Speaker 4>screenshots and cinematic trailers, and so I assumed you were
<v Speaker 4>gonna be like a big clunky like guy and then
<v Speaker 4>as soon as I started, it's like I gotta jump
<v Speaker 4>in a hover and a dash and it's just like, oh,
<v Speaker 4>this hacking thing is fucking awesome. Like I instantly fell
<v Speaker 4>in love with it, and like it does not like
<v Speaker 4>the hacking thing doesn't get old. They add things to
<v Speaker 4>it at a really good kind of drip feed throughout
<v Speaker 4>the game.
<v Speaker 3>Uh that just what that is?
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, you wanna explain that?
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, So, like you know the game is, it's a
<v Speaker 5>sort of a hybrid. It's at Henry Hatsworth like or.
<v Speaker 1>A world ends with you or a world.
<v Speaker 3>Ends with you.
<v Speaker 5>Like, So you have your third person shooter stuff, so
<v Speaker 5>you know your typical all right aim shoot, you're aimy
<v Speaker 5>for like the weak spots and you kind of have
<v Speaker 5>to maybe dodge enemy attacks for your dash. But most
<v Speaker 5>enemies aren't gonna take much damage unless they've been hacked
<v Speaker 5>first and you hack them with the other character. Diane
<v Speaker 5>is kind of riding on your back. So when you're
<v Speaker 5>loking onto a character, this hacking grid shows up and
<v Speaker 5>it's kind of sort of a maze and you use
<v Speaker 5>the face buttons on your controller or just your mouth
<v Speaker 5>if you're doing mess and keyboard and you sort of
<v Speaker 5>navigate this maze to move across the time, and you're
<v Speaker 5>trying to just get to the green node. So just
<v Speaker 5>like all right down down rights, but on your way
<v Speaker 5>you can pass through bonus nodes that will do more
<v Speaker 5>damage with the hack, or even kind of have these
<v Speaker 5>pickup items that will do things like, oh, pass through
<v Speaker 5>this node on your way and the enemy is going
<v Speaker 5>to be frozen for a little bit, or oh, now
<v Speaker 5>your hack will target multiple people. So and that's kind
<v Speaker 5>of like the baseline of it, and it gets yet
<v Speaker 5>more mechanics get added on top of that, and the
<v Speaker 5>hacking and the shooting can even interact with each other, like, oh,
<v Speaker 5>I'll use this gun because it's going to make the
<v Speaker 5>hacking more effective. Or this enemy put up some red shield,
<v Speaker 5>it's not just protecting his weak point. If there's a
<v Speaker 5>giant red part of the hacking grid, now that won't
<v Speaker 5>go in until I destroy this shield.
<v Speaker 4>Or you can tell like the way you can like
<v Speaker 4>do two things at this like walk and chew gum
<v Speaker 4>in this game is incredible because like you have this
<v Speaker 4>like charge kind of sniper rifle thing. It's really good
<v Speaker 4>against like flying enemies. So like you can start charging
<v Speaker 4>it and aiming, and at the same time, while you're
<v Speaker 4>holding in R two, you are doing the hack with
<v Speaker 4>the face buttons. So as soon as you basically open
<v Speaker 4>the enemy up and open the shields, you can let
<v Speaker 4>go of your previously charged sniper shot, and like it
<v Speaker 4>just feels like it all works in tandem in a
<v Speaker 4>way that like, wow, I can't believe, right, just the
<v Speaker 4>controller in my hands, like, don't get in the way
<v Speaker 4>of each other with this.
<v Speaker 1>And they really spice up the hacking because it isn't
<v Speaker 1>just always that maze system that Mike talked about dealing
<v Speaker 1>with the enemies, because there will occasionally be like these
<v Speaker 1>centuries that shoot off missiles, and the missiles travel slower,
<v Speaker 1>so you can quickly pan over look at the missile,
<v Speaker 1>hack that in a different style minigame and send that
<v Speaker 1>back towards someone. And that kind of also opens up
<v Speaker 1>the further you get into the game of like shooting
<v Speaker 1>stuff back at enemies.
<v Speaker 5>Sorry for netek, And you know it's like, you know,
<v Speaker 5>while you're hacking too, I mean, the enemies are still
<v Speaker 5>attacking you. So sometimes you'll be in the middle of
<v Speaker 5>a hacker you think you're focusing on that and you'll
<v Speaker 5>notice the Queen your eye that one of the enemies
<v Speaker 5>is about to charge you, or Diana will even be like,
<v Speaker 5>hey jump you. It's like, oh okay, I'll jump right
<v Speaker 5>now and avoid that attack.
<v Speaker 3>So it is.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, it's a multitasking game. I really like Spinny.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>And then uh, you know, you you start to unlock
<v Speaker 1>mods and and upgrade your suit and your abilities and
<v Speaker 1>stuff well and your weapons, and one of my favorite
<v Speaker 1>ones is, uh, this has a very satisfying finisher also
<v Speaker 1>of once you do enough damage or sometimes like you
<v Speaker 1>quit an enemy, they'll just like hunch over and then
<v Speaker 1>you just slam on RT and just like Hugh jets
<v Speaker 1>over and bops them.
<v Speaker 3>Take this. Yeah, yeah, I think, you know. I I
<v Speaker 3>overall I like how kind of dumb it all is,
<v Speaker 3>because I feel like I was not expecting. I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>I think the way they kind of debuted this, they
<v Speaker 3>were they made it feel a little more kind of serious, right,
<v Speaker 3>Like yeah, I think then that's the only thing that
<v Speaker 3>I was uh sort of, I don't know if I
<v Speaker 3>was like looking for that. It all sufficed to say,
<v Speaker 3>I just don't care for the story that much. I
<v Speaker 3>don't think the story is very interesting, but I do
<v Speaker 3>really enjoy the moment to moment in the running around.
<v Speaker 3>I think it's uh, it is surprisingly a thing that
<v Speaker 3>does not get old. I thought the whole hacking hybrid
<v Speaker 3>system was going to be like, oh again, I gotta
<v Speaker 3>do this, but no, they keep it fresh enough where
<v Speaker 3>it's like, this is really fun. They're using it in
<v Speaker 3>smart ways, and they do a good job of kind
<v Speaker 3>of like dog feeding you where you like you said,
<v Speaker 3>they kind of modify the hacking experience, especially with all
<v Speaker 3>the things you can do to change how it works
<v Speaker 3>for you smart it's it's I am surprised by this.
<v Speaker 3>I went into this being like, what is this fucking
<v Speaker 3>dumb ass moon? And I am digging it. I am
<v Speaker 3>a really big fan. I don't know if I'm as
<v Speaker 3>obsessively inclined to one hundred percent the entire thing, because
<v Speaker 3>I know they kind of they do kind of gate
<v Speaker 3>some of the collectibles and things that you'll realize that
<v Speaker 3>you can go back to areas you've already played through
<v Speaker 3>and collect all that shit. But the moment to moment
<v Speaker 3>and kind of seeing it through has definitely SYNCD with me,
<v Speaker 3>where it's like I got to finish this thing.
<v Speaker 4>I'll say they do make it really easy to go back,
<v Speaker 4>because it's like the lightest of Metroidvania elements, where it's
<v Speaker 4>you get this thing that clears out this stuff, and
<v Speaker 4>it's very easy to warp back to a certain spot
<v Speaker 4>where you see you only have three out of five
<v Speaker 4>of these boxes or whatever. But backlert your point about
<v Speaker 4>the story, Like, I was ready to kind of hate
<v Speaker 4>the story.
<v Speaker 3>I like I like Deanna, I like the girl.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I thought that was gonna be like more obnoxious
<v Speaker 4>in the way that I hated a lot of this
<v Speaker 4>stuff in like Ragnarok with the trayas and the head
<v Speaker 4>and all that shit. But I think she works great
<v Speaker 4>for the story and the uh, the gameplay, the hacking. Obviously,
<v Speaker 4>I do think it really sticks the landing on the story.
<v Speaker 4>I won't go into details on that.
<v Speaker 3>But I think you would think about three D printing
<v Speaker 3>is more interesting.
<v Speaker 4>The setting is more interesting than the story itself, because
<v Speaker 4>I like the idea of like, Okay, they put a
<v Speaker 4>bunch of AI on the moon and you're going to
<v Speaker 4>check it out, and it's just kind of gone a
<v Speaker 4>muck and it's like trying to recreate what it thinks
<v Speaker 4>life on Earth is like so it's like trying to
<v Speaker 4>recreate a Times Square, but it's all fucked up with
<v Speaker 4>like you know, taxi cabs on the walls and stuff
<v Speaker 4>like that and like printing errors, like looking like into
<v Speaker 4>the sky and like a lot of it is just
<v Speaker 4>like Ai trying to understand what Earth and humans are like,
<v Speaker 4>including Diana with her asking Hugh a lot of questions
<v Speaker 4>like hey, oh what is love and what is this
<v Speaker 4>and him just like very nicely having to explain humanity
<v Speaker 4>to this.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>I think the plots, you know, kind of the plot right,
<v Speaker 5>and that's fine. I think it's back heavy in terms
<v Speaker 5>of like when it gets more intriguing and maybe even
<v Speaker 5>like yeah, in general, back heavy when it gets wordering.
<v Speaker 5>But it's the characters in the setting that are really intriguing.
<v Speaker 5>Like Diana again, a character who could be really annoying.
<v Speaker 5>There's the reason why a lot of people don't put
<v Speaker 5>young children in video games. It's hard to do that.
<v Speaker 5>It's hard to make that feel authentic. I don't know
<v Speaker 5>who the voice actress is, but it sounds like it's
<v Speaker 5>an actual child to me. So whether it is one
<v Speaker 5>or someone who's able to do that, they did a
<v Speaker 5>really good job. It doesn't come off as kind of
<v Speaker 5>creepy or off putting. It's actually kind of adorable, like
<v Speaker 5>it is. Yeah, if you talk to Diana enough, you
<v Speaker 5>kind of hub area to do things like look, I
<v Speaker 5>drew us a picture of us together, Like that's very sweet,
<v Speaker 5>thank you. I appreciate that. I will protect you.
<v Speaker 3>I also love that her name is Diana, like it
<v Speaker 3>might as well be like Gertrude or like like, yeah, I.
<v Speaker 4>Think even likes even like the collectibles you're getting like
<v Speaker 4>kind of played to that, like her trying to understand
<v Speaker 4>earth life and humanity is.
<v Speaker 6>Like, you'll be getting these.
<v Speaker 4>Echoes, right, I forget if that's what they call them,
<v Speaker 4>basically rem Yeah, you'll get these like memories or whatever
<v Speaker 4>that you can three D print, and it's stuff like
<v Speaker 4>here's like an old CRT TV or here's like a
<v Speaker 4>beach set or something. Here's like stuff kids would play with,
<v Speaker 4>you know, like a campground type thing or whatever, and
<v Speaker 4>that's building out in your shelter, like the hub area.
<v Speaker 4>So the more of these collectibles you're getting, she kind
<v Speaker 4>of has like a child's playroom over here with balloons
<v Speaker 4>and stuff like that that you're three d printing for
<v Speaker 4>her to kind of you know, make it seem like
<v Speaker 4>an actual child's bedroom.
<v Speaker 1>I think the thing, uh sorry, micro is real quick.
<v Speaker 1>I think the thing that helps Diana as a character
<v Speaker 1>feel more competent than other little kid characters is that
<v Speaker 1>she is an integral part of the gameplay. And yeah,
<v Speaker 1>she's not too yappy like how a treys can be.
<v Speaker 1>And I've never found her to be like super whiny
<v Speaker 1>or anything. And even in like the story, like in
<v Speaker 1>like the little cut scenes when Hugh has to run
<v Speaker 1>away from something, she's never like, oh no, oh gosh,
<v Speaker 1>you have to help me. She's like competence, like no,
<v Speaker 1>I got this. Let me just like zeros zero one
<v Speaker 1>one one one on And then she hits her caprice
<v Speaker 1>son vape us.
<v Speaker 3>I saw that. And that's the thing. It's it works.
<v Speaker 3>They're able to cheat a little bit because like she's
<v Speaker 3>not real, right, So it's like at least where I'm
<v Speaker 3>you know, five hours in, I'm told she's a robot,
<v Speaker 3>and you know, you get away with like having your
<v Speaker 3>cake and eat it too, where it's like I don't
<v Speaker 3>need to worry about you, motherfucker.
<v Speaker 4>At the end of the day, it is Ashley and
<v Speaker 4>four it's not that right.
<v Speaker 3>We're here to help me up.
<v Speaker 5>So yeah, you know, she'll she'll talk to you, and
<v Speaker 5>like I said, she'll give you some advice like during combat,
<v Speaker 5>like oh, dodges, But she's not going.
<v Speaker 3>To tell you how to solve a puzzle or something
<v Speaker 3>like that.
<v Speaker 5>She's not going to be like, oh, are you an idiot?
<v Speaker 5>You need to tell me how to do this? And
<v Speaker 5>that The relationship with her and Hugh is really nice.
<v Speaker 5>I think ken Ken Shepherd on the Kataku review was like,
<v Speaker 5>this is a a dad game for dad to who
<v Speaker 5>actually like their kids. And that's a great way of
<v Speaker 5>putting it. There isn't this whole like act one, the
<v Speaker 5>adult fucking hates this child.
<v Speaker 4>There is that thing at the very beginning that I
<v Speaker 4>was dreading because like you go in with like your
<v Speaker 4>Moon Crew dudes, and one guy is like saying something
<v Speaker 4>about his kids, and your guy, Hugh, was like, you
<v Speaker 4>got kids, Uh, that sucks for you.
<v Speaker 6>And the other guy's like the best thing that ever
<v Speaker 6>happened to me, And.
<v Speaker 3>It's like it's like, oh, this is what the game's about. Exactly. Yep, yeah, right,
<v Speaker 3>yeah exactly.
<v Speaker 5>They do that and so you worry it's gonna be like, oh,
<v Speaker 5>he's gonna like I have to really be won over
<v Speaker 5>by this kid. I think it's much more, really sick
<v Speaker 5>that the paternal instinct kicks in almost immediately and they
<v Speaker 5>start bonding very soon. Of course that bond deepens, but like, yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 5>the kind of father daughter relationship thing is done the
<v Speaker 5>only wayer, and it's like not to totally discount what
<v Speaker 5>things like Last of Us do. I think that is
<v Speaker 5>pretty good drama. And there's reasons why the guy whose
<v Speaker 5>daughter died at a hard time accepting our But since
<v Speaker 5>then we have seen that quite a bit, I think,
<v Speaker 5>and this is just a nice spin on it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think I've grown very tired of the whole
<v Speaker 1>lone Wolf and Cub trope that is just like blasted
<v Speaker 1>all over media, and having Diana so earnestly curious about
<v Speaker 1>everything also just makes me like, oh, yeah, you know what.
<v Speaker 3>Snack time is good? You shoot high five people that's sick.
<v Speaker 1>And then like, you know, even though she is this
<v Speaker 1>highly intelligent cyborg AI thing, she still has wonder Like
<v Speaker 1>an early scene is you know she sees like a
<v Speaker 1>holographic cat. She's like, oh, let me go chase this cat.
<v Speaker 1>Oh shit, cats are sick.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, and then I think she's I think the jury
<v Speaker 3>is still out with her on that. I don't know
<v Speaker 3>if she Well, she's like with hughe people. Maybe with Hugh,
<v Speaker 3>he's never quite.
<v Speaker 1>Annoyed of like oh God, like this is a cat,
<v Speaker 1>Like that's a clock, these are mannequins. He's like, well,
<v Speaker 1>you know, this is something that I have on Earth.
<v Speaker 1>Earth is kind of like fucked up, but you know,
<v Speaker 1>we're trying interesting.
<v Speaker 6>He's kind of a dope, but he is like a
<v Speaker 6>likable dope, you know.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, he's in everyman.
<v Speaker 5>He's like he's just there for his job, right, He's
<v Speaker 5>like I thought I was just gonna come fix a
<v Speaker 5>communication side of way, blah blah blah, and all this
<v Speaker 5>weird stuff's happening and thinks like, oh, this is a
<v Speaker 5>boring generic protagonist.
<v Speaker 6>But like he does like I liked him by the
<v Speaker 6>end for sure.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, I remember his name.
<v Speaker 2>You so couch would be And you guys talked about
<v Speaker 2>this a little bit, but I'm not this person. But
<v Speaker 2>the one criticism the Christens I heard you guys have
<v Speaker 2>touched on it. The story the people that come to
<v Speaker 2>a game like this for narrative, do you expect him
<v Speaker 2>to then be one and over by the characters that
<v Speaker 2>you guys are, do think it is strong? And then the
<v Speaker 2>gameplay or is someone who's very narrative first going to
<v Speaker 2>be like, Oh, this it's fun, but it's not for
<v Speaker 2>me because I'm here for a story that's well told.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that's my point, right, I think they they They'm
<v Speaker 3>maybe saying misled is a little too harsh, but I
<v Speaker 3>do think they kind of like portrayed a narrative that
<v Speaker 3>maybe wasn't there, or at least where I'm at in
<v Speaker 3>the game is not like.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, it's a bit back heavy with some of that stuff.
<v Speaker 6>It is a action game first and foremost.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, when I when I, when I came, when I,
<v Speaker 3>when I got into the regular loop and I came
<v Speaker 3>to understand like, Okay, this is what's happening here, I
<v Speaker 3>felt like that did not meet the sort of importance
<v Speaker 3>that I thought this was going to be, uh going
<v Speaker 3>into this, Which is fine though, because the action makes
<v Speaker 3>up for all that shit. It's fine. It's just like
<v Speaker 3>a fun thing to be in and it's got to
<v Speaker 3>look to it. That like reminds me a lot of
<v Speaker 3>like the later parts in in r E nine when
<v Speaker 3>you're in that underground facility a lot of white spaces
<v Speaker 3>and very steriles or stuff.
<v Speaker 4>Early on, I think it does, and that was my
<v Speaker 4>worry is like is it all gonna be on sterile
<v Speaker 4>white you know, spacecraft and stuff like that. But I
<v Speaker 4>know that whole like Times Square area, and I won't
<v Speaker 4>see further ones go, but like there is a variety
<v Speaker 4>there that I really.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, they do good job again three D printing, so
<v Speaker 5>they can kind of like, oh yeah, things can get
<v Speaker 5>really weird here. But even when it is just a
<v Speaker 5>moon base, it's a really cool looking moon base. Yeah,
<v Speaker 5>and whatever you're somewherehere, you can like see Earth every time,
<v Speaker 5>like wow, it's really cool. Got the scale that they
<v Speaker 5>play with also, right, like you know you'll have like
<v Speaker 5>you'll see these gigantic communication towers or uh, you know
<v Speaker 5>the Possa paddles folks at home. Gorgeous, amazing. It like
<v Speaker 5>plays with like the scale and.
<v Speaker 1>How tiny Hue and Diana are in a fun way,
<v Speaker 1>but it never feels like inapproachable of like this is
<v Speaker 1>just like a big dude.
<v Speaker 4>And some of the settings, like the Times Square area
<v Speaker 4>in particular, there's a part where it's like, you know,
<v Speaker 4>there's just a million billboards and things like that, led
<v Speaker 4>screens everywhere, and I was looking at a bunch of
<v Speaker 4>stuff and I was like, this looks like AI art.
<v Speaker 4>But then I was like, well, I feel like Capcom
<v Speaker 4>as a company has been pretty vocally anti AI, and
<v Speaker 4>so I looked it up and I think that there's
<v Speaker 4>some interview with something that the devi's made where they're like, no, no,
<v Speaker 4>we wanted it to be because like narratively, yes, this
<v Speaker 4>is AI on the moon trying to recreate Earth, so
<v Speaker 4>it's humans. Actual developers made this to look like AI slop.
<v Speaker 6>Which is a really that must have been a really
<v Speaker 6>cool assignment for them, you know, like yeah, you know
<v Speaker 6>by yeah.
<v Speaker 1>But going back to your question, I think the characters
<v Speaker 1>are just so strong enough that even if the narrative
<v Speaker 1>from the jump isn't super strong, because I agree with
<v Speaker 1>Mike that it is a little bit back heavy parentheses positive,
<v Speaker 1>I need the characters and wanting to see that relationship
<v Speaker 1>deepen and get Guys, we haven't talked about the third
<v Speaker 1>character they did cap Trap, but good, oh what's his name?
<v Speaker 3>Cabin?
<v Speaker 5>Great, Yeah, he's just a it's just a scream with
<v Speaker 5>a hat. And of course it's like the main like
<v Speaker 5>friend character in a game where you have a little
<v Speaker 5>girl is just a screen that makes sense, but yeah,
<v Speaker 5>he kind of controls your little hub area. And the
<v Speaker 5>hub area is great because you know, you go back
<v Speaker 5>there even during missions to sort of restock where you
<v Speaker 5>buy all your upgrades for the characters, for the weapons,
<v Speaker 5>and like cabin has this little like bingo grid and
<v Speaker 5>you use collectibles kind of unlocked nodes on the grid
<v Speaker 5>which will unlock some items, even just info about the
<v Speaker 5>enemies and if you like make a line, you can
<v Speaker 5>unlock more stuff. There's also the challenges, which you know, okay,
<v Speaker 5>there's there's challenges in this game, but they're one really fun.
<v Speaker 5>It's like, oh, defeed all these enemies and if you
<v Speaker 5>get bonus if you do it in this much time,
<v Speaker 5>or if you do it with without getting hit things
<v Speaker 5>like that, or sometimes they're platforming challenges like get get
<v Speaker 5>from here to there, but a bonus if you shoot
<v Speaker 5>the five boxes on the way.
<v Speaker 3>So it's fun to do, but they are also very rewarding.
<v Speaker 5>You get a on of the kind of crafting materials
<v Speaker 5>if you do it, so it's very much worth your time.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, So whenever a new set of like three or
<v Speaker 4>four of those would unlock, like I would not go
<v Speaker 4>any further in the main story until I got perfect
<v Speaker 4>rating on every one of those, because yeah, you get
<v Speaker 4>all these things, you get coins for the bingo thing,
<v Speaker 4>you get all these upgrade materials, so like super worth
<v Speaker 4>doing and also super fun. Like if I have one
<v Speaker 4>complain about those is some of the platforming ones. Like
<v Speaker 4>I don't think platforming is the game's strongest suit, and
<v Speaker 4>it's not bad, but like some of the things have
<v Speaker 4>like you know, moving platforms and small platforms, and you
<v Speaker 4>have to like go between these lasers and dash and stuff.
<v Speaker 6>You can get a little frustrating, but they're all doable.
<v Speaker 5>He magnetizes to the kind of I'm gonna grab the
<v Speaker 5>ledge and put myself up thinks. So sometimes that kind
<v Speaker 5>of gets in your way a little bit.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>Uh, folks, if you want to hear more or see
<v Speaker 1>Mike's full thoughts and ideas about Pragmata, I suggest you
<v Speaker 1>go read the review. We'll have a quick look up
<v Speaker 1>and then Grab is going to do a three two
<v Speaker 1>one launch look this Friday. Friday evening, correct, rep that's right, Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>After UPF I'll do it the time Mike normally does
<v Speaker 2>it like six pm Eastern.
<v Speaker 4>Good question in the chat asking about how long the
<v Speaker 4>play through is. So to beat the game, get one
<v Speaker 4>hundred percent of the collectibles, one hundred percent all of
<v Speaker 4>the virtual missions and stuff like that, and there is
<v Speaker 4>like a cool postgame thing that's a pretty beefy amount
<v Speaker 4>of stuff. I was it around like seventeen or eighteen
<v Speaker 4>hours for the whole If you just want to beat
<v Speaker 4>the story, probably do that in a dozen hours or so.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>For me to beat the game and get a good
<v Speaker 5>amount of the stuff on the way and do a
<v Speaker 5>lot of the challenges, Steam time as thirteen hours, so
<v Speaker 5>about you know Resident Evil game length honestly, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
<v Speaker 3>Perfect, That's exactly what I want.
<v Speaker 1>And I see people complaining about like a ten to
<v Speaker 1>fifteen hour game and it being like seventy to eighty dollars.
<v Speaker 3>That comes to up very time.
<v Speaker 1>Wait wait for it to come on sale. I think
<v Speaker 1>it is worth it to check it out.
<v Speaker 2>Also, like shut up, I just don't want to hear it. Like,
<v Speaker 2>I mean, I get it, everyone's got their own opinion.
<v Speaker 2>But then just don't buy it. I don't know. I
<v Speaker 2>want more of these games. And it's like, if this
<v Speaker 2>is not for you, then it's not for you. I
<v Speaker 2>don't think it's like they shouldn't make games of this length.
<v Speaker 2>This is a negative quality for this game.
<v Speaker 3>It happen. Absolutely isn't because.
<v Speaker 1>Like it feels great, right like like Dane, like you mentioned,
<v Speaker 1>I was worried initially that this would be super clunky,
<v Speaker 1>but Hugh is like, despite like being decked out in
<v Speaker 1>space tech suits, he is very mobile and flexible. But
<v Speaker 1>speaking about space.
<v Speaker 5>Quick, it's a sixty dollars game. Apparently it's a budget
<v Speaker 5>game now Rightain, Oh my god?
<v Speaker 6>What basically.
<v Speaker 1>Speaking about space our own Jeffrey Backlar, you headed to
<v Speaker 1>space and the cinema?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I did. I saw the Super Mario Galaxy movie.
<v Speaker 3>Is that what it's called the Galaxy?
<v Speaker 5>It is called the Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
<v Speaker 3>I saw it. I saw, I think, I don't. I
<v Speaker 3>can't remember chance saw it, so I will report back.
<v Speaker 3>I did uh sit for this movie? I understand.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, he said he was gonna stand in the back
<v Speaker 2>and those recliners where the others sit.
<v Speaker 6>That's right.
<v Speaker 3>I'm not gonna say what I said about Dancy you.
<v Speaker 3>But so I get there, you know, I'm looking at
<v Speaker 3>the thing. I'm just like, Okay, I think I can
<v Speaker 3>make this work. I brought my own sheets. Okay, Sure
<v Speaker 3>that helped. You were the full body condom from Naked Gun, Yeah, exactly.
<v Speaker 3>I looked like Dustin Hoffman an outbreak and that ruled.
<v Speaker 3>So that was fine.
<v Speaker 5>Uh.
<v Speaker 3>You know, the movie going experience, depending on who you ask,
<v Speaker 3>has sort of changed a lot. I see movies fairly regularly,
<v Speaker 3>a couple times a year, so it's not like, oh
<v Speaker 3>my god, there's commercials now like. That's not a surprise
<v Speaker 3>to me. What I will say is, guys, and we
<v Speaker 3>talked about this briefly, and I know I'm gonna get it,
<v Speaker 3>and you have to let me explain. Okay, this movie
<v Speaker 3>theater seemed I don't want to say broken, but I
<v Speaker 3>know for a fact that the volume was turned up
<v Speaker 3>too loud for this movie.
<v Speaker 2>You're saying the saying the movie was too loud, right, Yes, Wow,
<v Speaker 2>they've reached it.
<v Speaker 3>It's it's not man, look loud. Stuff doesn't bother.
<v Speaker 6>Me, happen.
<v Speaker 3>Forty four club is when you start to be upset
<v Speaker 3>about the noise. Listen, Okay, this was it was broken.
<v Speaker 3>They were they screwed up. They presented it too loud. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>they were like, this seems loud, Like there were there
<v Speaker 3>were It wasn't a pack theater by any stretch, but
<v Speaker 3>people were like, is there should we go tell somebody? Like,
<v Speaker 3>should we tell somebody? It was? It was obviously someone
<v Speaker 3>like either rubbed up and put it up to ten.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know what happened, but say it was too loud. Yes,
<v Speaker 3>he was like that seemed loud, wasn't Yeah. I was like, yes,
<v Speaker 3>it was loud. Man, You're you're not wrong, because like
<v Speaker 3>even for dialogue, even for dialogue, you're just like, I
<v Speaker 3>can't hear fucking Charlie Dave. This loud. This is so stupid.
<v Speaker 3>What's going on? This thing's broken? Oh my god, I
<v Speaker 3>just I don't look. It's fine. I knew right away
<v Speaker 3>because the commercials the trailers were on so freaking lang.
<v Speaker 3>You're just like, usually they put the volume down a
<v Speaker 3>little bit for those I knew right away it was stuck.
<v Speaker 4>The movie also heard is a very subtle kind of
<v Speaker 4>like mood piece, like ambient music. Probably not that bad movie.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I was hopeful that I might have fallen asleep
<v Speaker 2>during it. It's like a Terrence Malick film.
<v Speaker 3>Absolutely, okay, great, the exact opposite is true. It's basically
<v Speaker 3>just like one hundred minutes of like non stop sort
<v Speaker 3>of like uh nightmare nostalgia of noises and sounds of visuals.
<v Speaker 4>Can someone take a stabage? Just given me the the
<v Speaker 4>three sentence synopsis of the plot.
<v Speaker 2>Rosalina Uh gets attacked by bowser junior.
<v Speaker 3>Attackers. Got the's got.
<v Speaker 5>Power's got to power a space cannon.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, he space.
<v Speaker 2>She's got magic inside her that could be used to
<v Speaker 2>power the Super Mario version of the nuclear bomb, and.
<v Speaker 6>She's got nukes. Is this the allegory?
<v Speaker 2>Well, yes, this movie is not anything bigger movie does
<v Speaker 2>not know all. It doesn't it makes it. It's a
<v Speaker 2>man named al Gore's about. It's about It's yeah.
<v Speaker 3>It's fine though, because we we've we've been shown that
<v Speaker 3>Nintendo and Illumination have no desire to enter any sort
<v Speaker 3>of like category of meaningful exposition or like, this is
<v Speaker 3>not what this is. We understand the money. Yeah, the
<v Speaker 3>mission is to just like empty your wallets, folks. That's it.
<v Speaker 3>That's all you're getting here. You're not getting any like
<v Speaker 3>feeling or or emotion. It's just like porcelains. So she's
<v Speaker 3>got a star cannon. Bowser wants to stop it and then.
<v Speaker 2>Doing maturity, give your enough. She is the energy source
<v Speaker 2>he Bowser Junior hands the cannon cannon.
<v Speaker 3>He went, she's a battery. Yes, she's They're they're sucking
<v Speaker 3>at her space cosmic juice because she's, you know, a
<v Speaker 3>princess and therefore she can power their their universe ending cannon.
<v Speaker 4>What does he want to do with the cannon? You
<v Speaker 4>know everything the universe make it bad? P oh. So
<v Speaker 4>it's like when like Shane McMahon would jump off a
<v Speaker 4>tall thing to try to right.
<v Speaker 3>You're giving them too much credit. Honestly, though, I'll say this.
<v Speaker 3>I'll say this, I think I like this one more
<v Speaker 3>than the first one.
<v Speaker 2>I mean that for what they are, sure, I think
<v Speaker 2>I think I think I like the references in the
<v Speaker 2>first one more, But I don't know. I think I
<v Speaker 2>was expecting more references in the second movie.
<v Speaker 3>I kind of thought the whole like, oh, there you
<v Speaker 3>really are from Brooklyn. I thought that stuff was just
<v Speaker 3>kind of stupid, honestly, just like that was like my
<v Speaker 3>favorite partlogy. I think it's because it was the most
<v Speaker 3>like the live action movie. I just thought all that
<v Speaker 3>stuff was like I don't know, it was. It was fine,
<v Speaker 3>but for you know, I do think they actually did
<v Speaker 3>some relatively fun stuff with like shoe D and and
<v Speaker 3>three D like towards the end, like I thought that
<v Speaker 3>was actually a very well conceived sequence. I don't want
<v Speaker 3>to spoil it, but they do a fun kind of
<v Speaker 3>like you know, Dungeon level idea with the two D
<v Speaker 3>and three D world stuff, and I thought that was fine. Yah,
<v Speaker 3>work really well. Yeah. I mean other than that, they
<v Speaker 3>that movie just ended in fourteen seconds, like they they
<v Speaker 3>end that movie so quickly, to the point where like
<v Speaker 3>Dylan was like, is that it Like it's over now,
<v Speaker 3>like they're just done with the whole thing. They they
<v Speaker 3>they won, Like yeah, I guess they won. I guess
<v Speaker 3>that's that's what they did. I guess we go home now, cool,
<v Speaker 3>we have to leave. It's fine, It's exactly what I
<v Speaker 3>thought it was, you know, it's it's what it's you know.
<v Speaker 3>I just it was it was so loud. It was
<v Speaker 3>so loud that I I like Stacy later on that
<v Speaker 3>and she's like I think that movie like rocked me.
<v Speaker 3>She's like, I think a wagon wheel. She's like, yeah, exactly.
<v Speaker 3>She's like that seeing that movie was like kind of
<v Speaker 3>being in a in a in a relatively like low
<v Speaker 3>impact car accident. Like it was just sort of like, oh,
<v Speaker 3>I've got a little bit of whiplash from that thing,
<v Speaker 3>and I'm gonna feel it in the next, you know,
<v Speaker 3>a couple hours. That's what that seems. It was assaulting
<v Speaker 3>in a weird way. Well, other than that, it's fine.
<v Speaker 3>You know, did with your kids, it's fine. The Gimmicks
<v Speaker 3>enjoyed it. Mine did, absolutely, U did. How it did
<v Speaker 3>feel about it? Yeah, I think I think did was
<v Speaker 3>very critical of the end the third act or whatever
<v Speaker 3>you want to call that, you know, I think it
<v Speaker 3>was sort of just like that was weird. That ended
<v Speaker 3>real weird, And I'm like, yeah, it did kind of
<v Speaker 3>end all of a sudden, and they they tied it
<v Speaker 3>up real nice and about I'm not joking twenty seconds. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>it does just end. Yeah, cool, absolutely, and you're just
<v Speaker 3>sort of like, okay, is there a singer?
<v Speaker 2>Like the culminating battle is on par with all of
<v Speaker 2>the other big action sequences and they don't connect in any.
<v Speaker 3>Real strong way, right. Yeah. I find there's a lot
<v Speaker 3>of this sort of stuff where like the finale is
<v Speaker 3>kind of like midway through the movie now, you know,
<v Speaker 3>I feel like they're doing or you start off with
<v Speaker 3>your with your best sequence and kind of like, you know,
<v Speaker 3>match up eighty sixty as you as you move on.
<v Speaker 3>So that's kind of where they went with this one.
<v Speaker 3>You know. I think, look, it's what's fun is like, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>it's like the Galaxy game like that. There's so much
<v Speaker 3>of that and a little bit of Odyssey, right, So
<v Speaker 3>that's so yeah, like you know that that was really cool.
<v Speaker 3>Like I had to explain who that was to uh
<v Speaker 3>these days, and I thought it was Sam Rockwell, but
<v Speaker 3>it wasn't. He sounds like Sam Rockwell.
<v Speaker 5>Oh yeah, it's glim Its glim Powell. Yeah, oh, Sam Rockwell.
<v Speaker 5>I think it's going to be in Brad Bird's new
<v Speaker 5>movie yet.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that sounds right. It was great.
<v Speaker 4>Moon.
<v Speaker 6>Have you seen the Moon?
<v Speaker 3>Is fantastic? Is awesome?
<v Speaker 6>Wow, Moon's awesome.
<v Speaker 1>Well, I'm glad that the kids enjoyed the movie. Speaking
<v Speaker 1>about kids, Jeff Grubb Mike Manatti YouTube this weekend were
<v Speaker 1>a couple of bullies out in the academy here.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so we recorded our endurance run of Bully. The
<v Speaker 2>plan was to do at least one weekend where we
<v Speaker 2>recorded as much as we could. We actually got through it,
<v Speaker 2>so we completed the game. Uh, we're you know, you're
<v Speaker 2>gonna want to watch that. That's gonna be the best
<v Speaker 2>way to get all this stuff. But I figure we'll
<v Speaker 2>talk about it here a little bit, Mike.
<v Speaker 3>Uh. I really enjoyed Bully. Uh.
<v Speaker 2>It really did come together in that moment when it
<v Speaker 2>went from here's the fall semester and now we're going
<v Speaker 2>into Halloween and the world got all decorated, and it's like, oh,
<v Speaker 2>this world does feel a little bit more alive because
<v Speaker 2>of that. Now I'm getting excited to see what Christmas
<v Speaker 2>looks like and all this other stuff. And it just
<v Speaker 2>we're gonna have these moments on the calendar to really
<v Speaker 2>emphasize this space and and these characters in that space.
<v Speaker 3>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>And then it's like very much a rock Star game. Still,
<v Speaker 2>it's got just the most every time there's an opportunity
<v Speaker 2>for a character, a character name, a joke, a storyline,
<v Speaker 2>it is just the most basic version of that.
<v Speaker 3>Because it's Rockstar writing it's it's trying to be.
<v Speaker 5>The most stereotypical nerd who likes dungeons and dragons and
<v Speaker 5>is awkward around girls.
<v Speaker 3>Right, yeah, right, it's.
<v Speaker 2>And it's that all across the board, and it's like, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>they just haven't really ever changed their writing on that stuff.
<v Speaker 3>But that's fine because it's also never bad.
<v Speaker 2>It's never it's the quality level isn't like off the charts,
<v Speaker 2>but it's never like the bad version of this. I
<v Speaker 2>think the one thing pretty early on that we both
<v Speaker 2>both me and Mike noticed is this game is very
<v Speaker 2>similar in structure to Leisure Suit Larry Box Office Busts.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, naturally, it's very It's clear Box Office Bus was
<v Speaker 5>clearly inspired by this game specifically.
<v Speaker 2>Oh, this version of it is good because it's just
<v Speaker 2>they don't ever waste your time. The missions you're going on,
<v Speaker 2>they're never again it's never the perfect version of running
<v Speaker 2>around and jumping and platforming or getting in combat, but
<v Speaker 2>it's a good, serviceable version of that, and they never
<v Speaker 2>overstay their welcome. We were like burning through this stuff
<v Speaker 2>very quickly, and I just I don't know, I had
<v Speaker 2>a great time.
<v Speaker 5>How about a Yeah, And I was surprised how much
<v Speaker 5>I liked going to class, like all the class remitting
<v Speaker 5>Scholarship edition.
<v Speaker 6>Is that the one you play?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah? Okay, cool?
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, so yes, you know, like sometimes it's like, oh
<v Speaker 5>it's it's a music class. It's a rhythm game. Then
<v Speaker 5>there's like dissection stuff where it was kind of like
<v Speaker 5>trauma Center a little bit. Right, there's you know, geography
<v Speaker 5>where we had to plant the flags and the appropriate
<v Speaker 5>countries things like that. So yeah, yeah, it was a
<v Speaker 5>it was a really good time. There was maybe a
<v Speaker 5>bit where it's like, oh, man, Rockstar games that are
<v Speaker 5>kind of a lot of run from this subjective, watch
<v Speaker 5>that cutting, then run to this objective like maybe punch
<v Speaker 5>one person a bit kind of thing.
<v Speaker 3>But they, you know, they kind.
<v Speaker 5>Of get away with it just because there is so
<v Speaker 5>much variety and it is so like, man, look at
<v Speaker 5>this huge thing, loose place I'm going to. And they
<v Speaker 5>even do make the combat as simple as it is
<v Speaker 5>interesting enough you unlock those combos and things like.
<v Speaker 1>That question for the historians here. I didn't check out
<v Speaker 1>Bully when it originally came out because my mom saw
<v Speaker 1>it was a mature game. I think it was mature. Yes,
<v Speaker 1>she just noted, oh, rock Star makes GTA you can't
<v Speaker 1>play that, But I remember the at least in the
<v Speaker 1>magazines I'd read that it was widely adored. So how
<v Speaker 1>come Rockstar never followed up with like a sequel because
<v Speaker 1>gret Theft Autos and Ready Redushans took up too much
<v Speaker 1>time to make it. And it's a shame because you
<v Speaker 1>could see how like a like a sequel of this
<v Speaker 1>in college with bigger scars Star Camp be awesome.
<v Speaker 4>Do you guys remember the Bully too thing? I think
<v Speaker 4>we had Ben Reeves tell the story on the couch
<v Speaker 4>at twenty three.
<v Speaker 3>I love this story, please go ahead.
<v Speaker 4>Is I worked with Ben Reeves, who's fantastic Game Informer,
<v Speaker 4>and we were like switching over the website CMAS something
<v Speaker 4>we had to test something. I think I want to
<v Speaker 4>say Ben was like teaching the interns or something how to.
<v Speaker 6>Make like a new skew, like a new game in
<v Speaker 6>the back end.
<v Speaker 4>He's like, okay, so let's say tomorrowighty three they announced, uh,
<v Speaker 4>and he's typing in the title Bully two Kevin's back Jack,
<v Speaker 4>which is extra hilarious because I don't think his name
<v Speaker 4>is Kevin No, And so he just like did that
<v Speaker 4>and I think he accidentally saved it. And so there
<v Speaker 4>was a skew on Game in Former site that said
<v Speaker 4>bully too, Kevin's back Jack. I don't know if someone
<v Speaker 4>just saw it or it was publicly visible at some point,
<v Speaker 4>but it came out on like Twitter. It's like bully too,
<v Speaker 4>Kevin's Backjack revealed for Game in Former leak.
<v Speaker 3>Oh my god, back Jack. I love that.
<v Speaker 5>I think about Kevin's really frequently. Oh my god, there's
<v Speaker 5>like still are I guess? So finally the Reddit post
<v Speaker 5>from nine years ago it's deletedd but that's so Kevin's.
<v Speaker 4>Back You talk about your mom not letting you buy
<v Speaker 4>it like that was. It's one of the funnier versions
<v Speaker 4>of this, like the the moral panic stuff that like
<v Speaker 4>you know, you got it with Rockstar because like it's
<v Speaker 4>a murder simulator your kids, how to you know, kill someone?
<v Speaker 6>This is like yeah, yeah, this one.
<v Speaker 4>Well, but Manhunt the WEI one people were like yeah,
<v Speaker 4>the very like Jack Thompson types you know, came out
<v Speaker 4>in Forest Here was like, oh, the Grand Theft Auto
<v Speaker 4>people that had you killing hookers are now going to
<v Speaker 4>teach you how to be a bully at school.
<v Speaker 6>And it's like you fucking play the game.
<v Speaker 4>It has more heart and less sentiens sweet than like
<v Speaker 4>any rock Star game ever outside of like tent table tennis.
<v Speaker 6>You know, it's it's a very sweet game.
<v Speaker 2>We were expecting it to be much meaner. We were
<v Speaker 2>expecting the jokes to age much worse, and some of
<v Speaker 2>them don't age great. But it's not nearly as bad
<v Speaker 2>as what we were expecting on that front. And then yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I think we came away from it thinking that was
<v Speaker 2>a really sweet character who kind of did the right
<v Speaker 2>thing in his own way in just about every circumstance,
<v Speaker 2>and we were expecting like this big like butting of
<v Speaker 2>heads between him and the principle and it's like, ah no,
<v Speaker 2>he was kind of doing the principles of favor like
<v Speaker 2>most of the time and creating this better environment.
<v Speaker 3>It was pretty good front.
<v Speaker 1>So I also never checked out the Warriors game. Is
<v Speaker 1>that something you think is held up? I'd like to
<v Speaker 1>go back to it.
<v Speaker 4>It is such a project, Like I missed that era
<v Speaker 4>of rock Star where it's like we're making their GTAs
<v Speaker 4>and GTA was you know, just on a real heater
<v Speaker 4>with like San Andreas and by sitting stuff. But they
<v Speaker 4>would also have these passion projects where it's like, well,
<v Speaker 4>somebody got a fucking ping pong with sheet or ping
<v Speaker 4>pong table at the office, and now they're really into
<v Speaker 4>ping pong and they make this game. Somebody saw the
<v Speaker 4>Warriors for the first time, it's like, let's fucking buy
<v Speaker 4>that license. Like I liked Midnight Club, you know, they
<v Speaker 4>were doing like a yea, they were doing weird shit
<v Speaker 4>for like a while in like the early to mid
<v Speaker 4>two thousands.
<v Speaker 5>And Theta Online happened.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, I mean, which, obviously that's going to do very
<v Speaker 4>well and be a great game, I'm sure, but like
<v Speaker 4>I do Miss, we'll talk about it weirder rock Star.
<v Speaker 5>You know, I've seen some people kind of wondering what
<v Speaker 5>exactly this is. I guess it's been ten years since
<v Speaker 5>an endurance when it has happened. So what this is
<v Speaker 5>going to present is Jeff and I play through this
<v Speaker 5>entire game on the counts together in kind of thirty
<v Speaker 5>minute chunks where we take turns with the controller each time,
<v Speaker 5>and those episodes will be uploaded every weekday once we
<v Speaker 5>start uploading them, So like once it starts, like every weekday,
<v Speaker 5>we'll see a thirty minute episode ish of us playing
<v Speaker 5>through Bully until we get to the end.
<v Speaker 3>Yep, we heard it.
<v Speaker 4>This is part of the you know the bombthon last October.
<v Speaker 4>We hit a lot of different incentives and we were
<v Speaker 4>having regular meetings to just make sure timetable wise throughout
<v Speaker 4>the year, we're kind of hitting all those and making
<v Speaker 4>good on all those.
<v Speaker 6>So, yes, this is what we are very excited.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, we are ticking off the little pips in the
<v Speaker 1>battle pass that we made for ourselves. Yeah, Mike Minatti,
<v Speaker 1>I'm very curious to hear your thoughts on this next
<v Speaker 1>game here because it looks like it is up your
<v Speaker 1>Disney alley and I'm talking about mouse Pi for Hire.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, so I got to play, you know, a good
<v Speaker 5>chuck of this last night. I was actually too surprise.
<v Speaker 5>It's more ambitious than I thought. Like I thought this
<v Speaker 5>was just going to be a boomer shooter with the
<v Speaker 5>kind of old timey animation layer on top of it.
<v Speaker 5>But like, no, these were like like like more structured
<v Speaker 5>game levels. There's a lot of voice acting there. There's
<v Speaker 5>some light detect us stuff in between.
<v Speaker 3>Baker.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, it's Troy Baker as the voice of the main
<v Speaker 5>mouse Jack pepper Jack Pepper job. Yeah, you go to
<v Speaker 5>this like Cowbury in between mistions where your office is,
<v Speaker 5>and there's like a bar and you know, like a
<v Speaker 5>shop where you can buy upgrades for like your character,
<v Speaker 5>and then there's like a weapons lab you can upgrade
<v Speaker 5>your guns that kind that kind of thing. And then yeah,
<v Speaker 5>if like the running around, the shooting feels really good,
<v Speaker 5>and that's where it's more boomer shootery in terms of like,
<v Speaker 5>you know, you have the traditional health and AMMO stuff,
<v Speaker 5>you have all the weapons you pick up, you don't
<v Speaker 5>have to constantly swap them, right, But it's also not
<v Speaker 5>amaze like a doom where you're picking up key cards.
<v Speaker 5>The fact it's relatively linear. You can push a bund
<v Speaker 5>to show you where to go, but there's all sorts
<v Speaker 5>of hidden rooms so you can explore even unlocked. The
<v Speaker 5>double Drop roatively early on, and I'm a SICA who
<v Speaker 5>likes first person platforming quite a bit.
<v Speaker 3>That part feel good.
<v Speaker 5>The animation stuff is great, just like all the ways
<v Speaker 5>characters even die, Like okay, you shoot their head off,
<v Speaker 5>that's kind of funny. You throw an exploding barrel at them.
<v Speaker 5>They turn to a pile of ash with the eyeballs
<v Speaker 5>and they blink. There's even sections where you kind of
<v Speaker 5>put the guenaway and you're just in an area populated
<v Speaker 5>but with NPCs, and something about that kind of popped me,
<v Speaker 5>Like you're in the subway station while people are just
<v Speaker 5>kind of sitting around way for the subway. Yeah, this
<v Speaker 5>is like this actually kind of feels like a lived
<v Speaker 5>in world a bit. Yeah, our early impressions are pretty strong.
<v Speaker 5>Boss fights have been surprisingly good. Like a lot of
<v Speaker 5>times these games, it's just sort of, you know, shoot
<v Speaker 5>them and maybe dodged up, but there's been actual mechanics
<v Speaker 5>to them. Just kind of like this robot lady who's
<v Speaker 5>like shooting lasers everywhere. You have to kind of jump
<v Speaker 5>over to lasers and a certain point of the high
<v Speaker 5>behind a glass panel. Then I noticed kind of optionally
<v Speaker 5>there was a button I could push that would zap.
<v Speaker 3>Her while I was hiding. But stuff like that.
<v Speaker 5>So yeah, my early impression is good. There's one weird
<v Speaker 5>thing I'm concerned about, and I'm not sure yet, but
<v Speaker 5>so your mice, there's there's there's also rats, and there's
<v Speaker 5>also shrews, and the shrews are being round up by
<v Speaker 5>the police and and taken away somewhere and look, I've
<v Speaker 5>not gone further game the shrews, right, so yeah, now,
<v Speaker 5>look I've encountered a shrew and I've not noticed anything
<v Speaker 5>about like the character that is portraying any stereotypes so far.
<v Speaker 5>But my right, right, you know, if the flag has
<v Speaker 5>been raised, I'm like, what's going on with this?
<v Speaker 3>Making a face back of a interesting? Tell me more
<v Speaker 3>about these shrews.
<v Speaker 5>Well, they are short, but because like their shrews, they're
<v Speaker 5>they're smaller than mice. I guess I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>Is that it is okay, I don't know. Look, I'm
<v Speaker 3>gonna I'm gonna keep an eye on this.
<v Speaker 5>True did you look as soon as somebody said shrew,
<v Speaker 5>I'm like that didn't feel good. I know what that
<v Speaker 5>shoes are an actual animal?
<v Speaker 3>But why did we? Why we? Why do we do this?
<v Speaker 3>But I don't I didn't know that they I did?
<v Speaker 3>Did I know? I don't know? What are they are?
<v Speaker 3>They like little?
<v Speaker 5>They're like it's another little road in a sh you
<v Speaker 5>have to tame them if you're shakes road.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. There is a review Chuck reviewed mouse p I
<v Speaker 1>for Hire that is now on the web site. If
<v Speaker 1>you are curious about that.
<v Speaker 2>I played some as well. I'll just say that I
<v Speaker 2>it's not clicking for me right out of the gate.
<v Speaker 2>I'm I'm not as far in as Mike is. I'm
<v Speaker 2>still very early. But my early impression was that the
<v Speaker 2>animation is very good, and then the gameplay is like
<v Speaker 2>very at least so far, it's very doom like finding
<v Speaker 2>those secrets, you're shooting things. There's monster closets, the monsters
<v Speaker 2>come out of the closet, You clear out the monster closets,
<v Speaker 2>you move on. Then you're finding keys, opening doors. It's
<v Speaker 2>not exactly like a doom level, but it does feel
<v Speaker 2>like a follow up to that without a ton of
<v Speaker 2>other a ton of other stuff going on, and then
<v Speaker 2>you kind of get a little bit more open sections,
<v Speaker 2>or you could drive around the city in your car
<v Speaker 2>in a in an interstitial that reminded me of the
<v Speaker 2>early Ghostbusters game a little bit. Yes, yes, I'll say
<v Speaker 2>that the stuff did not connect between each other as
<v Speaker 2>much as I would expect. It does feel like, Yes,
<v Speaker 2>the animation is very good, like the sound isn't sort
<v Speaker 2>of supporting that in a way where it makes it
<v Speaker 2>feel like it's super alive. I did get to that
<v Speaker 2>section in the subway and I like that, but it
<v Speaker 2>was like it's a short vignette of like establishing the world,
<v Speaker 2>and now I'm like, oh, I'm interested in exploring more
<v Speaker 2>of like what this world is like, and so I
<v Speaker 2>had the game is not going to do a ton
<v Speaker 2>of that, And then the story I think it presents
<v Speaker 2>is I'm pretty pretty basic. It's hard for me to
<v Speaker 2>get on board with it early on because it's just
<v Speaker 2>a very stock standard detective PI story of there's a mystery,
<v Speaker 2>something bad has happened. I need to go find out
<v Speaker 2>what's going on there. I'm like, oh, that's what we're
<v Speaker 2>doing with all of this really awesome animation. So it's
<v Speaker 2>like that better hit hard, because I feel like you
<v Speaker 2>could be doing something a little bit more off kill,
<v Speaker 2>a little bit funnier, a little bit weirder because we
<v Speaker 2>are in this cartoon mouse world.
<v Speaker 3>Could you do something that.
<v Speaker 2>Is playing on the idea of this is secretly actually
<v Speaker 2>really steamboat Willie and he and we have to like
<v Speaker 2>investigate him working in Hollywood or something. And it's not
<v Speaker 2>doing something along those lines. It's just swap in PI
<v Speaker 2>character in a novel with mice and then some other
<v Speaker 2>species to represent other races, which yeah, could get a
<v Speaker 2>little dicey later on. I'm waiting to see if it's
<v Speaker 2>really going to click for me as I play more.
<v Speaker 2>So far, it's like kind of like, I don't know
<v Speaker 2>if I need to play much more of this.
<v Speaker 3>It is reviewing fairly well. Yeah eighty three on Open Brag.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I remember checking this out during GDC week and
<v Speaker 1>not quite enjoying it. But interestingly, you know, happy to
<v Speaker 1>hear that people are digging it. I did not pick
<v Speaker 1>up and they did not lead with the whole shrew
<v Speaker 1>of it all during that little demo, and I'm curious
<v Speaker 1>to see what happens with the rest of that story. Sorry,
<v Speaker 1>Mike Minatti, that's not the only game you've been playing,
<v Speaker 1>because you have checked out Diablo two Rain of the Warlock.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I've been meaning to get to this, so, like
<v Speaker 5>a month or ago, they added a new blast to
<v Speaker 5>Diablo two, which is a wild thing to do, kind
<v Speaker 5>of to sort of promote that upcoming Diablo four expansion,
<v Speaker 5>which is also going to add the Warlock as a
<v Speaker 5>playable class.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>That it's a Diablo two which hasn't had a new
<v Speaker 5>class since like two thousand and one or whenever that
<v Speaker 5>game's expansion came out. And this is only for the remake,
<v Speaker 5>right that that happened a few years ago, which was
<v Speaker 5>a very good remake. So yeah, I love Diabo two.
<v Speaker 5>It's one of my favorite games. Definitely my favorite game
<v Speaker 5>in that series. So having an excuse to go in
<v Speaker 5>there and play it again as this brand new character.
<v Speaker 5>And you know, like every every class in this game
<v Speaker 5>has three different like skill tree branches, so there's all
<v Speaker 5>this different ways to play this. I'm kind of doing
<v Speaker 5>a very spell focused one, a lot of fire attacks,
<v Speaker 5>like I kind of have this thing that just shoots
<v Speaker 5>a real fire out from around me and it does
<v Speaker 5>all this AoE damage and it just seems to melt people.
<v Speaker 5>It is because it's the Yabo too. It's very important
<v Speaker 5>to constantly have health posters just be drinking out postions
<v Speaker 5>like I'm some kind of crazed alcoholic for blue mana gosh.
<v Speaker 5>I love they Albow two. It has such a good
<v Speaker 5>creepy vibe with the weird music, the way everything kind
<v Speaker 5>of looks like Harry Housen claymation, which Jan might not appreciate,
<v Speaker 5>uh or stop stop motion.
<v Speaker 3>Maybe we don't call it the stop motion I enjoy.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, so yeah, just just looks really cool. Yeah, it's
<v Speaker 5>just an amazing excuse, excuse to get to play the
<v Speaker 5>Yabo two again. I'm a big fan of just randomly
<v Speaker 5>adding new content like this to very well give it's
<v Speaker 5>because like in the remake, like you can like set
<v Speaker 5>like the kind of version of the game to this
<v Speaker 5>Reign of the Warlock stuff, but just change things a bit,
<v Speaker 5>or you can go back to just the base version
<v Speaker 5>of the remake when you're playing Round the Warlock. You
<v Speaker 5>can't do the graphic swap thing because they didn't make
<v Speaker 5>like the old Sprite version of the Warlock and stuff
<v Speaker 5>like that. So you know, and I kind of get
<v Speaker 5>why they did that. Maybe a small bummer there, but yeah,
<v Speaker 5>I can get over it. Yeah, neat stuff. Love the
<v Speaker 5>op too. I'm excited to check out that expansion though,
<v Speaker 5>when it comes out really soon.
<v Speaker 1>I think speaking about interesting looking games, Dan Riker, you
<v Speaker 1>have on the list here or Slay the Spire too.
<v Speaker 3>I broke my personal rule. Oh ye, early access.
<v Speaker 4>I just have heard enough people saying good things about
<v Speaker 4>this game, and specifically Bonk whenever she dis real deep
<v Speaker 4>into something, I know there's really something there, and she
<v Speaker 4>has been obsessed with it, and so it's like, all right,
<v Speaker 4>I've been hearing about this and seeing her play it
<v Speaker 4>every night, and it's like there's got to be something there.
<v Speaker 4>And I've asked her it's like, okay, does it feel finished.
<v Speaker 4>It's not gonna be like a What Ruined Rogue legacy
<v Speaker 4>too for me, where it's like, oh, I was getting
<v Speaker 4>into it and then it's like, hey, we'll finish this sometime.
<v Speaker 4>She's like, no, it feels like content complete, like there's
<v Speaker 4>some placeholder art all this stuff. And yeah, absolutely, there
<v Speaker 4>have been like two times maybe I ran into like
<v Speaker 4>placeholder art for like these epoch cards after a run
<v Speaker 4>or whatever, which whatever, it does not get in the
<v Speaker 4>way of my enjoyment whatsoever.
<v Speaker 6>It is a tremendous game.
<v Speaker 4>I've just been playing with the first Ironclad character and
<v Speaker 4>seems basic, just kind of teaching you kind of like
<v Speaker 4>stati effects of you know, inflicting vulnerable, giving yourself strength,
<v Speaker 4>things like that. And even with that, I've made an
<v Speaker 4>interesting deck. I've done one run and I got to
<v Speaker 4>the last boss of Act three on the first run,
<v Speaker 4>So like, I wonder that because I'm not particularly like
<v Speaker 4>good at these games. In fact, Bonds looked at my
<v Speaker 4>deck and she's like, why do you have like four
<v Speaker 4>hundred cards in here? Like you should be way more selective. So, like,
<v Speaker 4>I don't know if they need to like tune it
<v Speaker 4>or if the first early runs are supposed to be
<v Speaker 4>super easy or something like that, but just super engaging stuff.
<v Speaker 4>It does that into the breach thing, where it's like
<v Speaker 4>I love specifically seeing what's going to happen on the
<v Speaker 4>next turn. Okay, as soon as I hit in turn,
<v Speaker 4>that guy's gonna attack me for four times three damage.
<v Speaker 4>That one's going to try to give me a debuff,
<v Speaker 4>and this is what I have to work with. And
<v Speaker 4>then it becomes this like little chess game of figuring
<v Speaker 4>out the best way to protect yourself. It's the boss
<v Speaker 4>fights have some fun gimmicks and stuff like that, like
<v Speaker 4>the sandworm that's kind of pulling you into the whirlpool
<v Speaker 4>and stuff, and you have to like balance doing damage
<v Speaker 4>with like backing away from the sand to whirlpool.
<v Speaker 6>It's it's just really fucking good. It's very readable. It's
<v Speaker 6>a perfect fucking Steam Deck game. I made it so
<v Speaker 6>the right track pad just easily switches to mouse, so
<v Speaker 6>it makes it a lot easier to like hover over
<v Speaker 6>your relics or the enemies and seeing exactly what they're
<v Speaker 6>about to do. It's just, man, what a tremendous game.
<v Speaker 6>I'm gonna put a lot of time into this.
<v Speaker 5>It's super good. I had a similar thing where I
<v Speaker 5>think I just won my first run, especially with that
<v Speaker 5>first class I'm like, oh man, I'm must be like
<v Speaker 5>really really good. And then some of the other class characters.
<v Speaker 5>I don't know if because the characters are more complicated,
<v Speaker 5>definitely took me a good deal more effort to beat
<v Speaker 5>a run after that.
<v Speaker 4>Nice bunks in the chant thing. She tries to keep
<v Speaker 4>it at twenty to twenty five cards a run. Yeah.
<v Speaker 4>I Like she was explaining to me this morning, like,
<v Speaker 4>you know, get rid of those strike cards, those basic
<v Speaker 4>strike cards immediately, and I was like, oh god, I
<v Speaker 4>would take on like twenty more of them. I've been
<v Speaker 4>like upgrading the stupid strike cards and stuff, so me
<v Speaker 4>how to play this game?
<v Speaker 3>Run?
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, because like, yeah, basically, you want to go to
<v Speaker 5>those shops and like one, the first thing you want
<v Speaker 5>to spend money on is getting rid of a basic card,
<v Speaker 5>and I act three. I'm usually like I'm declining most
<v Speaker 5>of the cards unless of something I see that I
<v Speaker 5>really think of my deck.
<v Speaker 2>That, yeah, that's the thing. But yeah, you just roll
<v Speaker 2>with the punches there. I built it. My first deck
<v Speaker 2>did have a ton of strike because I got a
<v Speaker 2>bunch of synergies. That was like, the more strikes you
<v Speaker 2>have in your hand, the more powerful. Yet X and
<v Speaker 2>Y are going to be I'm like, okay, great, then
<v Speaker 2>I'm just gonna beef up on that stuff. And that's
<v Speaker 2>bunks saying that sometimes that is the strat But yeah,
<v Speaker 2>Carl and Jack, Carl jeram the speed I understanding then
<v Speaker 2>to win baby good motto.
<v Speaker 6>Sure go up with bonk two soon.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, yeah it was.
<v Speaker 2>It was surprisingly just really that was one of my
<v Speaker 2>first real times playing. I did one run before that,
<v Speaker 2>went right into it with a bunch of people who
<v Speaker 2>knew what they were doing, seamless.
<v Speaker 1>It was fantastic coolness because that's what my uh not
<v Speaker 1>worry but question was if you're playing with someone that
<v Speaker 1>is a little bit more seasoned with the style of games,
<v Speaker 1>do you feel like you're holding them back at all?
<v Speaker 1>Or I mean, you're you're gonna want to like know
<v Speaker 1>your character a little bit like you're gonna want to
<v Speaker 1>have to have done at least one run, but that's
<v Speaker 1>all I did. I did one run with the iron
<v Speaker 1>Clad character. Everyone else was using a different character, and
<v Speaker 1>so I got to go in there with the one
<v Speaker 1>I knew. And as long as you kind of set
<v Speaker 1>it up that way, everyone, Hey, I'm coming in with
<v Speaker 1>the one character I know.
<v Speaker 3>Can I have that one? You should be fine.
<v Speaker 2>You're gonna want to play a little bit fast, but yeah,
<v Speaker 2>you shouldn't feel like you're holding people up in most circumstances.
<v Speaker 4>Awesome, Yeah, Ironclad's cool, but yeah, Bonk was something this
<v Speaker 4>morning about the Silent where it's like a bunch of
<v Speaker 4>like zero costs, like you know, ships and stuff and
<v Speaker 4>poisonous gess.
<v Speaker 6>Like, oh, that sounds fucking awesome too.
<v Speaker 4>So like I don't know if I'll bounce back and
<v Speaker 4>forth or finish iron Clad then move on, but like,
<v Speaker 4>I'm gonna play a lot of this.
<v Speaker 1>It's a super good game speaking about something that I'm
<v Speaker 1>gonna play a lot of, and I've been playing a
<v Speaker 1>lot of it. Pokemon Champions came out last week. Friends,
<v Speaker 1>you okay, no, but I'm not.
<v Speaker 3>I'm not.
<v Speaker 1>Now this is me checking into rehab on my own
<v Speaker 1>court because I know the dangers that this is gonna
<v Speaker 1>reek and has already wrecked on me. For folks that
<v Speaker 1>don't know, Pokemon Champions is just the competitive mode the
<v Speaker 1>PvP from the I guess base Pokemon games turn based
<v Speaker 1>PvP game where you were using the singles format or
<v Speaker 1>the doubles format. The doubles format is generally what the
<v Speaker 1>VGC or Competitive Pokemon comprises of. So you roll in
<v Speaker 1>with six, you pick four, You go against another person
<v Speaker 1>and gang. They did what I wanted. They did what
<v Speaker 1>I wanted because now I don't have to worry. I
<v Speaker 1>don't fucking care about catching Pokemon. I don't fucking care
<v Speaker 1>about befriending them. I want to make them fight, and
<v Speaker 1>I want to make them. I want to switch their
<v Speaker 1>moves up on a whim and then make them fight
<v Speaker 1>other Pokemon, and I want to acknowledge there is the
<v Speaker 1>whole gotcha element. It is free to play, or at
<v Speaker 1>least free to start, but this game has been very
<v Speaker 1>generous with the different types of currencies that you get
<v Speaker 1>and your victory points that you use to unlock Pokemon
<v Speaker 1>to train Pokemon. They throw a bunch of tickets so
<v Speaker 1>you're not burning through or feel the need to immediately
<v Speaker 1>drop money into the game.
<v Speaker 3>And they do a need thing first free.
<v Speaker 1>I know the first HiT's free, but I've only paid
<v Speaker 1>the original or the initial six ninety nine for like
<v Speaker 1>the little boost you get, so that just gives you
<v Speaker 1>a couple victory points, that gives you some background music,
<v Speaker 1>and a couple more tickets because you use these tickets
<v Speaker 1>to in a gotcha style, get a roster of Pokemon
<v Speaker 1>to recruit from, so you'll get about like maybe I
<v Speaker 1>want to say, eight to ten Pokemon to pick from,
<v Speaker 1>and then from there you can recruit one from that
<v Speaker 1>lineup and throw them into your roster of Pokemon to
<v Speaker 1>build teams from.
<v Speaker 3>But they do the.
<v Speaker 1>Thing where there's Pokemon Home functionality, So if you have
<v Speaker 1>Pokemon from Pokemon Go Scarlett, Violet Sword and Shield, you
<v Speaker 1>can bring them as long as they are legal with
<v Speaker 1>the format into this game. And they've finally done away
<v Speaker 1>with they a IVS, which is a hidden stat that
<v Speaker 1>has been in Pokemon for forever, so there is a
<v Speaker 1>little less math to do there. But they've streamlined building Pokemon,
<v Speaker 1>changing up move sets, the abilities, and like adjusting the
<v Speaker 1>stats you don't have to do any funky training anymore.
<v Speaker 1>And I understand there are a lot of people, the
<v Speaker 1>hardcorees out there that are still frustrated and have a
<v Speaker 1>lot of gripes with the game. But for me that
<v Speaker 1>just wants to go in, think of a funky team
<v Speaker 1>and just try and climb the ladder, I am having
<v Speaker 1>so much fucking fun gang, So what.
<v Speaker 2>That would be my question? So I have like seen
<v Speaker 2>the I don't backlash whatever their criticisms. If someone wants
<v Speaker 2>to have a good time like you, what would you
<v Speaker 2>recommend to them? Would you, like, just go do this
<v Speaker 2>and don't worry about this other bs?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, if the thing I would suggest is do not
<v Speaker 1>get too lost in the sauce. In terms of trying
<v Speaker 1>to climb the ladder. If you're completely new to like
<v Speaker 1>the Pokemon VGC, because there are it does require a
<v Speaker 1>lot of like knowledge of the board, right you not
<v Speaker 1>only have to know your own Pokemon, but you have
<v Speaker 1>to know what the opponent is using because you can't
<v Speaker 1>kind of just freestyle. If someone has like a specific
<v Speaker 1>team that they're bringing, you kind of have to be
<v Speaker 1>familiar with how that team is piloted. And what I
<v Speaker 1>would suggest is like go, you know, go watch Pokemonday,
<v Speaker 1>not Combat for some stellar gameplay coming to you on
<v Speaker 1>Wednesdays right after games Mornings. But also there is a
<v Speaker 1>lot of YouTubers out there. The Competitive Pokemon subreddit is
<v Speaker 1>very helpful in providing resources. The big thing is if
<v Speaker 1>you're not confident with building a team or you don't
<v Speaker 1>know where to start, they have rental teams, So go
<v Speaker 1>find like a YouTuber or like a competition player that
<v Speaker 1>has done really well because generally their team will be
<v Speaker 1>available to rent and just familiarize yourself with the ins
<v Speaker 1>and out of that team. You roll in with six Pokemon,
<v Speaker 1>but you pick four, and that's because you kind of
<v Speaker 1>need to adapt and have like two different modes or
<v Speaker 1>strategies when you're entering the battle and how to adapt
<v Speaker 1>against your opponent. I know that there is a lot
<v Speaker 1>of backlash in terms of like performance of the game
<v Speaker 1>and the monetization behind it, but again, like I've been
<v Speaker 1>playing every single day for a good chunk of time,
<v Speaker 1>and I've like accumulated a bunch of VP after I've
<v Speaker 1>burnt through them to like train Pokemon up and everything,
<v Speaker 1>and i haven't felt the need or the pressure to
<v Speaker 1>drop money into it. And even then, like, I haven't
<v Speaker 1>encountered that many bugs or anything. I'm playing on a
<v Speaker 1>switch to I'm playing wirelessly, I'm playing handheld. I haven't
<v Speaker 1>noticed too many graphical issues or problems. And I've seen
<v Speaker 1>some people that don't necessarily jive well with or have
<v Speaker 1>really explored the online competitive Pokemon side before starting to
<v Speaker 1>click with it, and and I I wonder if that's
<v Speaker 1>because it is so much more streamlined. And uh, there
<v Speaker 1>is like a whole casual part of it as well.
<v Speaker 1>You don't have to climb the ladder. You can just
<v Speaker 1>jump into casual battles, test drive a team and whatnot.
<v Speaker 1>And I know this will not resonate with y'all, but
<v Speaker 1>to the Pokemon heads out there, I am so sorry
<v Speaker 1>I've let you down because I, Jana Choa, have become
<v Speaker 1>a dirty, filthy in center or player. No to the wrestler, Yes,
<v Speaker 1>he's the wrestler, thank you. I am become the Unna,
<v Speaker 1>the most overplayed Pokemon that is too powerful. I need
<v Speaker 1>that motherfucker on my team. He's you know, Dan, he's
<v Speaker 1>the Roman reigns.
<v Speaker 3>Okay, Jeff greb.
<v Speaker 5>Oh no, Jeff was pointing his finger up audio listeners
<v Speaker 5>and Chant thought he had a question.
<v Speaker 3>That is what I normally do when I have a question,
<v Speaker 3>So I don't blame.
<v Speaker 1>Jan bad that and it's uh, there's a lot of
<v Speaker 1>room to grow with the game as well. I know
<v Speaker 1>people are upset that their favorite Pokemon aren't in it,
<v Speaker 1>that certain abilities, certain items aren't in it. But I
<v Speaker 1>feel like they had to make this specific format and
<v Speaker 1>silo it off to only a couple Pokemon. And it's
<v Speaker 1>not even a couple of Pokemon. It's still a bunch
<v Speaker 1>for now to get people in the door because it
<v Speaker 1>we in initial trailers they showed Terrastalization, Z moves right now,
<v Speaker 1>it's right now. I'm sorry, Mike Manatti. There's just mega
<v Speaker 1>evolutions in the game to spice things up. Somehow those
<v Speaker 1>better than those. No, actually that's better than the other ones.
<v Speaker 1>I don't like that Terrestrialization and Z moves.
<v Speaker 3>Is the worst one.
<v Speaker 5>That was real fucking to dude, But that shit Giganta
<v Speaker 5>Max is just meg evolution with a different name.
<v Speaker 3>They get big, they get big.
<v Speaker 5>The crystal hats are pretty stupid though I really don't
<v Speaker 5>like the crystal hats doesn't bad.
<v Speaker 1>And I you know, I enjoy how limited it is
<v Speaker 1>because I don't have to worry about any legendary Pokemon
<v Speaker 1>or and it's I didn't play too much of Scarlet
<v Speaker 1>and Violet the competitive side, so it is still a
<v Speaker 1>little bit exploratory in terms of like, oh what does
<v Speaker 1>this one do?
<v Speaker 3>Okay?
<v Speaker 1>Cool, because within every loss, I am still learning more
<v Speaker 1>things of like, all right, well, this is how I'm
<v Speaker 1>going to attack this style of team, or I'm gonna
<v Speaker 1>be really funky with it and approach that type of
<v Speaker 1>matchup differently the next time. Also, I've seen so many
<v Speaker 1>people with off meta teams, and what I mean by
<v Speaker 1>that is not using the most popular Pokemon and still
<v Speaker 1>climbing up the ladder completely fine, So there is that
<v Speaker 1>is what.
<v Speaker 3>I'm going to ask.
<v Speaker 2>I heard there's like fifty or sixty viable Pokemon and
<v Speaker 2>traditional like a traditional VGC. Does that still feel like
<v Speaker 2>the case? Is it a a little bit?
<v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, You're definitely gonna see like the same five
<v Speaker 1>Pokemon on every team. And I'm part of the problem,
<v Speaker 1>I will admit, but it's because of just trying to
<v Speaker 1>acclimate myself to like this format. But I've seen so
<v Speaker 1>many off kilter teams. Yo, yo, here, here's some heat
<v Speaker 1>on the street and this is for just for y'all.
<v Speaker 3>All right, you can.
<v Speaker 1>Fuck up these arred why teams fuck this? Venus ur up,
<v Speaker 1>roll up with a pre Marina and Sable. I cause Sable,
<v Speaker 1>I can set rain Dance that fucks up drought that
<v Speaker 1>the fucking charizards Uh chars are why.
<v Speaker 3>Will set up?
<v Speaker 1>You feel me?
<v Speaker 3>Oh shit? No, Dan Dance popping off right now? Ye,
<v Speaker 3>Mike's vertical. Yeah, Sable, the guy is making the Bloodborne movie. Yes, no,
<v Speaker 3>that's Jack. Yeah. Uh.
<v Speaker 1>But like I'm having a lot of fun with this game,
<v Speaker 1>it's going It is already a problem, and it's gonna
<v Speaker 1>continue to be a problem for me because as everyone
<v Speaker 1>is talking, I'm just thinking, huh, what if I threw
<v Speaker 1>that on a team? What if I did this? Because
<v Speaker 1>there's also some stupid broken strategies. There are specific moves
<v Speaker 1>in Pokemon that are one hit ko, but the accuracy
<v Speaker 1>is like sixty to seventy. However, with Mega Halucha, which
<v Speaker 1>is another wrestler Pokemon, he has a specific move that
<v Speaker 1>gives his ally and ability where he will never miss.
<v Speaker 1>So you can just never miss these one hit ko
<v Speaker 1>moves and completely rinse through a team.
<v Speaker 3>It's just fun. It's stupid.
<v Speaker 1>Also, there's like a ghost that's like Macha, and that's fun.
<v Speaker 1>I love Pokemon.
<v Speaker 3>I hate it.
<v Speaker 2>I'm happy for you, Jan I'm actually legitimately happy that
<v Speaker 2>this is working out for you.
<v Speaker 3>Specifically, I was worried.
<v Speaker 2>That you could never love again. It seems like something's good.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, it's bad for you, but.
<v Speaker 3>I love it. As soon as it hits mobile enough,
<v Speaker 3>as soon.
<v Speaker 1>As this HiT's mobile, though, it's gonna be game over
<v Speaker 1>for me, because then I'll just have it everywhere. Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>But you know, that's when we like to introduce a
<v Speaker 3>little thing called moderation, perhaps to your to your daily life.
<v Speaker 3>We're gonna live with your screen time. Yeah, we'll do
<v Speaker 3>that for you. It's fine. We'll get scout to do it.
<v Speaker 3>It'll be easy. I am my kids asking me for
<v Speaker 3>more screen time, like five times over this week.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, that's our favorite question. Yeah, that's the reason they
<v Speaker 5>talk to me.
<v Speaker 3>Still. Hey, whatever whatever it takes, you gotta gotta drive
<v Speaker 3>engagement somehow. I love to drive engagement with my children.
<v Speaker 3>Gate that screen. They'll come running back. Do whatever you want.
<v Speaker 1>But but you know, it has been fun to see
<v Speaker 1>like there is you're you're still running into a variety
<v Speaker 1>of teams and also gang. Also also here's here's some
<v Speaker 1>more heat on the street gang. If you come a
<v Speaker 1>little closer here, uh, I will get a couple people
<v Speaker 1>quitting and forfeiting on round one if you successfully set
<v Speaker 1>up trick room because these motherfuckers don't know what to
<v Speaker 1>do with it.
<v Speaker 3>What does trick room do? Yeah, but I don't know
<v Speaker 3>what to do with it either.
<v Speaker 1>It reverses the turn order because speed is a big thing,
<v Speaker 1>but trick room is like, what do we let the
<v Speaker 1>slow dudes go first?
<v Speaker 3>That's fun.
<v Speaker 2>I love that actually, cause there's gonna be people that
<v Speaker 2>built their entire teams around speed, right.
<v Speaker 1>Exactly, fuck your whimsicton pranks there setting up tailwind.
<v Speaker 3>Each ship. Also thought this podcast would be bad. I
<v Speaker 3>didn't say that. I just wanted an excuse if it was.
<v Speaker 3>Yo yo, yo yo.
<v Speaker 1>Also, people don't fucking know what to do when like
<v Speaker 1>you mess up their focus sash setup and they be
<v Speaker 1>fucked up. Also, are you gonna do I think is
<v Speaker 1>sash sash sash sash go to hell? That's right, gig
<v Speaker 1>and that's it for games? Well, well, We're gonna hit
<v Speaker 1>you with some news right after this bricky break and
<v Speaker 1>a word from our friends at TOSS.
<v Speaker 3>We'll see you. I have news and I would like
<v Speaker 3>I would like to tell you guys about it. Let's
<v Speaker 3>start here.
<v Speaker 2>With the hottest news from Ovary over the night. Bloodborne
<v Speaker 2>is officially officially returning. It's coming back.
<v Speaker 3>Everybody, get ready how we did it?
<v Speaker 2>As an R rated animated film. Sony has announced an
<v Speaker 2>R rated animated movie based on the PS four game Bloodborne,
<v Speaker 2>developed by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions and produced by
<v Speaker 2>content creator Sean Jack, septic Guy mc laughlin his seems
<v Speaker 2>not even Jack, let's see, and lyrical animation. This project
<v Speaker 2>is part of Sony's continued effort to adapt game IP
<v Speaker 2>into films.
<v Speaker 3>Blah blah blah.
<v Speaker 2>It is based on that game. Sony owns the Bloodborne IPS.
<v Speaker 2>So they're just taking this thing, they doing something with it. Uh,
<v Speaker 2>And it's the thing everyone's been clamoring for a movie.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, that's the response.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, there's there's there's there's one name I didn't here,
<v Speaker 5>Etchen and all that people bringing this to life. That's
<v Speaker 5>from software or Miyazaki.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean look I there they're not involved, was
<v Speaker 2>what would be my guess. I certainly do not take
<v Speaker 2>this as a sign that anything is happening with the games,
<v Speaker 2>because there isn't anything happening with Bloodborne the video game.
<v Speaker 2>It's just a movie that so Sony feels like they
<v Speaker 2>could do this without probably stepping on toes over it
<v Speaker 2>from but they cannot touch the game without doing that,
<v Speaker 2>so we're getting this instead. It's a certain point, it's
<v Speaker 2>almost like leave well enough alone. If you can't do
<v Speaker 2>anything with the games, maybe don't make this movie. But
<v Speaker 2>at the same time, I don't care. You have your fun.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, it is kind of extra insaulting if like this
<v Speaker 5>comes out and there's still no movements on trying to
<v Speaker 5>Ringmaster Bloodborn getting per second, there's no movement, like come.
<v Speaker 1>On, do you think them greenlighting this is like kind
<v Speaker 1>of them forcing their hand at like, hey, do it.
<v Speaker 5>Because if you're going to do the movie without them,
<v Speaker 5>then just remaster the game without them.
<v Speaker 2>I mean, they definitely want to do other stuff with
<v Speaker 2>from software on the game side, and I think touching
<v Speaker 2>the game will preclude them from doing that, so so
<v Speaker 2>that they're just not going to do anything with the
<v Speaker 2>Bloodborne game for now.
<v Speaker 3>Probably the foreseeable future.
<v Speaker 2>But I do think they want to get to a
<v Speaker 2>world where Bloodborne is an act of gaming franchise again,
<v Speaker 2>and this is one way to kind of keep it
<v Speaker 2>in like the common conversation. Although it's Bloodborne, it doesn't
<v Speaker 2>need a lot of help with that.
<v Speaker 3>So I don't know.
<v Speaker 2>I mean I did, like one person's skied about it.
<v Speaker 2>It finally got its frame rate updated to twenty four
<v Speaker 2>frames per second.
<v Speaker 3>That's that's pretty clever, not bad. I like that quite
<v Speaker 3>a bit.
<v Speaker 1>I'm not super familiar with this production studio lyrical animation.
<v Speaker 1>I've only ever seen one movie that the studio is made,
<v Speaker 1>that was How to Blow Up a Pipeline. I'm curious
<v Speaker 1>as the what look they're going to go for, because
<v Speaker 1>some of these, like Netflix anime adaptations, they look good,
<v Speaker 1>but some also kind of look like trash.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean that's gonna be like, what is the
<v Speaker 2>budget for this thing? Are they going for a full
<v Speaker 2>Is this just a like do you remember what was
<v Speaker 2>that old EA game that was the character action game
<v Speaker 2>based on the novel Thank You? Dan Dante's Inferno had
<v Speaker 2>a movie like that based on that game, Right?
<v Speaker 3>Really? Right?
<v Speaker 2>Yes, exactly, and it was like some cheap cgi thing
<v Speaker 2>I think, And I'm like, is this going to be
<v Speaker 2>equivalent to that?
<v Speaker 3>Or are we going to get.
<v Speaker 2>A full fledged, theatrical, big budget animated film.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know. It's probably gonna be something less than that. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I think it's somewhere in the middle. I don't think
<v Speaker 3>you're gonna get the theatrical thing. But I also think
<v Speaker 3>we're beyond the point of like, hey, how cheaply and
<v Speaker 3>shittily can we do this thing? Yeah? I think we're
<v Speaker 3>I think those days are got.
<v Speaker 1>Also, you know, we talked about this, I think it
<v Speaker 1>was last week with the whole Metal Gear movie.
<v Speaker 5>Uh.
<v Speaker 1>And of course they had new news and updates as
<v Speaker 1>soon as we wrapped the show. But animation takes a while, right,
<v Speaker 1>We're not going to see this for at least two
<v Speaker 1>three years?
<v Speaker 5>Should it should take a while?
<v Speaker 3>Uh? Ye, two to three years.
<v Speaker 5>This news broke while I was streaming in my check
<v Speaker 5>got mad at me because I did not know who
<v Speaker 5>Jack Septic I is?
<v Speaker 3>Does anyone else know who Jack Septic is?
<v Speaker 5>Yes?
<v Speaker 3>I do.
<v Speaker 5>I even predicted and I said, I bet this will
<v Speaker 5>not help my case. I bet Dan doesn't know who
<v Speaker 5>it is.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, that's case. Yeah. I was also surprised real name
<v Speaker 3>not Jack in any way. That ye upsetting and bothers me.
<v Speaker 1>Mike Jack scept the guy he's the voice of punch
<v Speaker 1>Up from that's.
<v Speaker 3>What they Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, people told me he's punch Up. I know punch
<v Speaker 5>Up is know that. I guess he's gonna make a
<v Speaker 5>blood more movie.
<v Speaker 3>I guess so I didn't. Yeah, that's that that This
<v Speaker 3>is the new move for for YouTubers is, uh, what
<v Speaker 3>are we gonna do? That's like a movie.
<v Speaker 5>Movies are lame though I love Movies's a theme park?
<v Speaker 3>You movies are lame? Yeah, and then you're not. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>he's not a movie. He previously said movies are mid
<v Speaker 3>he's moved on to movies are lame. So this is
<v Speaker 3>that's the worst I think. I think so Yes Investment
<v Speaker 3>audio listeners.
<v Speaker 2>When he asked if we could build a theme park,
<v Speaker 2>he did tilt his head in a way to suggest,
<v Speaker 2>aren't I a stinger?
<v Speaker 6>Yeah?
<v Speaker 2>There it is, uh fortnite adding okay, man, it's just
<v Speaker 2>dumb news after dumb news.
<v Speaker 3>Adding in our Greater Style game with Disney characters also
<v Speaker 3>Stone culture.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, so Disney and Epic have that big investment deal
<v Speaker 2>something like one point five billion dollars and they're gonna
<v Speaker 2>make Disney cross Fortnite projects, and it sounds like the
<v Speaker 2>first one of those is an Arc Raiders, like that
<v Speaker 2>means an extraction shooter with Disney characters. Early internal reviews
<v Speaker 2>reportedly say the game is quote not very original.
<v Speaker 3>Oh what weird?
<v Speaker 2>Game plays just like art Raiders, but has Princess Mermaids
<v Speaker 2>shooting dudes.
<v Speaker 3>For the one K forty seven, I want to see
<v Speaker 3>Goofy bleed out.
<v Speaker 6>Oh, Goofy.
<v Speaker 5>I'm curious if it's possible at some point for Disney
<v Speaker 5>to overplay their hand with this and everybody suddenly because
<v Speaker 5>Fortnite knows he's the care was there gonna be a
<v Speaker 5>point where everybody is weirded out? Finally that buzz Lightyear
<v Speaker 5>can shoot and murder Donald Duck something I think weird
<v Speaker 5>people out.
<v Speaker 3>Murdering is maybe not the right world. That's what I do.
<v Speaker 5>They get de res or they just disappear, but like,
<v Speaker 5>come on.
<v Speaker 3>I am coming on. I think, Uh, I don't know
<v Speaker 3>if sure you want to call a Disney murder that
<v Speaker 3>that's fine murder.
<v Speaker 1>I feel like the Fortnite audience, though, I have started
<v Speaker 1>taking a turn on some of the different things getting
<v Speaker 1>added to the game, like the brain rots stuff.
<v Speaker 2>The brain, the ballerina, cappuccina and stuff, the worst skin fucking.
<v Speaker 6>Like, I p who's getting paid for that?
<v Speaker 3>That's a question that seems free for everyone. I don't
<v Speaker 3>think anyone owns.
<v Speaker 2>That, right, yeah, it's just made by AI and they
<v Speaker 2>think so yeah, yeah, yeah, I.
<v Speaker 6>Know who's getting money for Stone Cold?
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, I don't know about But Mike, we have
<v Speaker 3>to look to you as our Disney cringe barometer, right,
<v Speaker 3>I mean, and we need to know which way the
<v Speaker 3>wind is blowing when it comes to that, right.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, Look, this doesn't seem good, like I My hope
<v Speaker 5>is like I hope there's like a good reason why
<v Speaker 5>Disney characters are an extraction shoot together. But that won't
<v Speaker 5>possibly be the case. Of course, it's just gonna They're
<v Speaker 5>just gonna throw them in there. But like, like what
<v Speaker 5>is because they can't be running around like Derrelic armory
<v Speaker 5>bases like in arc Raiders, right.
<v Speaker 3>Like what what is the map? What are they extracting?
<v Speaker 3>The Old two? The old that's what they're doing. There's
<v Speaker 3>so many questions like what are we doing? What's going on?
<v Speaker 3>I guess what are we like a kill figment? I'm
<v Speaker 3>on board.
<v Speaker 1>No, when they say Disney characters, do they mean like, uh,
<v Speaker 1>just Starwicky, Goofy or does that include ye, Star Wars
<v Speaker 1>or market I think the whole point is this of
<v Speaker 1>this just to include everybody, because that I mean it
<v Speaker 1>might start like slimmed down and then they'll introduce.
<v Speaker 3>New characters that you could buy skins of over time.
<v Speaker 5>But there's my other question is like how separate from
<v Speaker 5>Fortnite is this because they've been adding a lot of
<v Speaker 5>Disney characters for Fortnite. We've had like I think Hercules
<v Speaker 5>not too long ago, we just had buzz Light.
<v Speaker 3>You're in Zerg.
<v Speaker 5>So is it just you can only play as the
<v Speaker 5>Disney owned characters in this and that'll includes stuff like
<v Speaker 5>Darth Vader even you know, own Ripley, because does they
<v Speaker 5>own sat or Simpson or is it like, oh, this
<v Speaker 5>is like no, this is like a new suite of
<v Speaker 5>characters for this game, because it's a little bit of
<v Speaker 5>its own thing, but isn't usually how Fortnite operates typically,
<v Speaker 5>So now it's weird. That was just a modere. You
<v Speaker 5>can only use the Disney character. You're just not allowed
<v Speaker 5>to bring John Wick in here because of an arbitrary rule. Boy,
<v Speaker 5>I'm de wee curious. I guess I don't know. I
<v Speaker 5>hope because I've jived with extraction shooters that much anyways.
<v Speaker 5>But it's just there's no preer a spark here. It's
<v Speaker 5>it's an it's a mandate. It's what we got to donate.
<v Speaker 5>And what if someone doesn't have those skins?
<v Speaker 3>Right? Right?
<v Speaker 1>What about the people that don't?
<v Speaker 3>Who's this game's jonesy?
<v Speaker 2>Like, who's the who's the default character skin that you
<v Speaker 2>get if you don't a horse caller?
<v Speaker 3>Okay, of course, duh. I uh.
<v Speaker 2>That's the feeling I have, Mike of the mandate, where
<v Speaker 2>it's like this clearly is like we got a bunch
<v Speaker 2>of money in this moment in time, so we have
<v Speaker 2>to do something with Disney. Okay, that side of its,
<v Speaker 2>figure it out. It's got to be Disney. Shit, what
<v Speaker 2>is the game that we're pairing up with that? Oh god,
<v Speaker 2>oh god, oh god. Let's just do what we did
<v Speaker 2>with Fortnite, look around to see what's popular and take that.
<v Speaker 2>Extraction shooters are popular let's just make a Disney extraction shooter,
<v Speaker 2>and it feels so deprived of any sort of vision
<v Speaker 2>in the world. Like obviously we've had that time and
<v Speaker 2>time again in games that's nothing new. This one feels
<v Speaker 2>somehow to me like one of the worst examples of
<v Speaker 2>how that can be really fucking stupid, because.
<v Speaker 1>I don't think they're even going to lean into whatever
<v Speaker 1>makes specific Disney characters unique right now.
<v Speaker 3>They're all going to play the same. Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>There's not going to be like buzz Lightyear can fly
<v Speaker 5>right yeah, or like Scrooge has a po go.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>No, they're not. I don't think they're going to be
<v Speaker 5>that creative with it.
<v Speaker 2>No, there's two other games in the works as part
<v Speaker 2>of this partnership. The second game also getting sort of
<v Speaker 2>like hey, the internal reviews say not very fun. And
<v Speaker 2>then the third game was supposed to be pretty ambitious,
<v Speaker 2>but they've taken the budget away from that put it
<v Speaker 2>put it towards that first game, the Arc Great Style Game,
<v Speaker 2>because Disney was aghast at the timeline that apparently Epic
<v Speaker 2>was on for delivering that project.
<v Speaker 3>Now we'll see.
<v Speaker 5>I wonder if that third thing was like the metaversy one,
<v Speaker 5>which what was that ever going to actually look like.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know.
<v Speaker 1>I don't like hearing the word metaversy.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, don't add a lot of that. When you say
<v Speaker 3>internal reviews, what can you be specific about what that
<v Speaker 3>exactly means?
<v Speaker 2>I mean, it just means that they are not like,
<v Speaker 2>they're not going out to contractors and getting like consultants
<v Speaker 2>to look at the game. They're doing their standard let's
<v Speaker 2>have people from other departments play this and do like
<v Speaker 2>it's a standard procedure that they do of just like, okay,
<v Speaker 2>we're time to do a check. Let's send this off
<v Speaker 2>and do a week of letting other people test it.
<v Speaker 2>They're going to write up their reviews, their input, send
<v Speaker 2>it back to us, and as part of that standard procedure,
<v Speaker 2>these are This is the early word from the reporting
<v Speaker 2>so far.
<v Speaker 3>Got it all right? Hackers reveal Rock Okay, there was
<v Speaker 3>that big Rockstar hack.
<v Speaker 2>I don't know if you guys saw that. And it's
<v Speaker 2>a jan your people. The Shiny Hunters is the name
<v Speaker 2>of the hacking group. So it sounds like Pokemon fans,
<v Speaker 2>which people no. Of course, the Pokemon fans the worst
<v Speaker 2>people that you could possibly be associated with. Pokemon fans
<v Speaker 2>they hacked the servers cloud servers for Rockstar, and they
<v Speaker 2>threatened Rockstar and say, hey, we're going to release this
<v Speaker 2>stuff unless you pay a ransom. Of course, as usual,
<v Speaker 2>the company didn't pay the ransom, got released, and I
<v Speaker 2>bet it's not going to hurt rock Star and Take two.
<v Speaker 2>If anything, this information might help their stock price go
<v Speaker 2>up because the hawks the rock Star the hock Star.
<v Speaker 2>The Rockstar hack reveals that g t A. G t
<v Speaker 2>A Online earns over one million dollars every single day.
<v Speaker 2>It's earned a half billion dollars pretty much every year
<v Speaker 2>since it's been live, and continues to do so. That
<v Speaker 2>is all from shark cards apparently, which god, gun to
<v Speaker 2>my head, what a shark card?
<v Speaker 3>Don't know what those do? What those We just let
<v Speaker 3>you buy clothes and stuff cars.
<v Speaker 4>We find that all those hest when we did that
<v Speaker 4>Crime Crew series. And I still have no idea, Like
<v Speaker 4>the whole point that was, what the hell GT online
<v Speaker 4>was no idea what a shark card is?
<v Speaker 3>Cards like oh my, oh my god, Mike, you're fired, thanks.
<v Speaker 1>For joining us, everybody, We'll see you next week for
<v Speaker 1>another episode.
<v Speaker 3>Takes Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think uh, I think it's
<v Speaker 3>like the in game, like.
<v Speaker 1>I think you're proud of yourself. Yeah, look at it.
<v Speaker 3>We cannot acknowledge it. We must move on.
<v Speaker 6>That's a proud man.
<v Speaker 3>Everyone gets one, everyone gets one, get more. We're talking ye, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>some of us get fifty eight thousand. I think I
<v Speaker 3>think it's the I think a shark card is the
<v Speaker 3>like in game credit card. Yeah, yeah, but I don't
<v Speaker 3>know for buying shit. That is the other side of this.
<v Speaker 6>Uh.
<v Speaker 3>One of the paragraphs here said this, but it's up.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, four percent of players spent money during September twenty
<v Speaker 2>twenty five to April twenty twenty six, and yet it's
<v Speaker 2>making a million dollars a day day from one out
<v Speaker 2>of every twenty players actually spending money. So it's like
<v Speaker 2>nineteen people just going in there, goofing around, probably very
<v Speaker 2>similar to what you did, Dan until you guys did
<v Speaker 2>the missions and stuff like that. But you guys are
<v Speaker 2>just going there to play the game and have a
<v Speaker 2>good time, and then one of twenty people are like,
<v Speaker 2>I need to buy everything in here and pour in
<v Speaker 2>what sounds like literally thousands of.
<v Speaker 3>Dollars per person who's spending money.
<v Speaker 2>It is all just whale based, and that is super fragile,
<v Speaker 2>because if you go from GTA Online one to GTA
<v Speaker 2>Online two and cannot get those people to migrate, your
<v Speaker 2>entire business, the thing you've built your business on for
<v Speaker 2>the last ten plus years collapse.
<v Speaker 6>Okay, then here about here's my pitch.
<v Speaker 4>They stop doing online and they just make more Bullies
<v Speaker 4>and Warriors.
<v Speaker 3>They release two games. Yes, yes, and that sounds good
<v Speaker 3>to me. Yeah. I don't know if that's gonna make
<v Speaker 3>a half a bill, Yeah, but.
<v Speaker 2>Just love of the game, you know, yep, Jack, I'm
<v Speaker 2>glad you like that as much.
<v Speaker 4>It's so fog during this and like there are way
<v Speaker 4>more headlines about Kevin's Backjack than I remember.
<v Speaker 3>It was a huge thing.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, Metro twenty thirty nine will be revealed this week.
<v Speaker 2>Four A Games confirms they're doing this with Xbox as
<v Speaker 2>part of an Xbox grab. It sounds like you revealed
<v Speaker 2>it right now. Uh well, yes, right exactly. Hey, there
<v Speaker 2>it's one Metro twenty thirty nine. They're gonna show off
<v Speaker 2>the game like actually running, but that is the game
<v Speaker 2>they're gonna that's gonna be at the showcase with Xbox.
<v Speaker 3>You guys ever play much of the Metro games I've.
<v Speaker 6>Tried fun games.
<v Speaker 4>No, I think every two seconds you've gotta wipe your
<v Speaker 4>fucking a visor off, or you gotta turn on a
<v Speaker 4>breathing tube where you gotta fucking rub something off your shoe.
<v Speaker 4>It's just like a bunch of boring shit tied to
<v Speaker 4>every button. They have to do constantly for no reason.
<v Speaker 2>It's like if a far far Krai, which was the
<v Speaker 2>one with malaria far cry to everything was malaria, you
<v Speaker 2>just got malaria on every part of the gameplay.
<v Speaker 6>Everything suck more.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, but you make it another one.
<v Speaker 1>Like Jake Jecker really likes those games, and I trust
<v Speaker 1>Jake's opinion.
<v Speaker 3>I believe every word of that. Yeah, it seems to
<v Speaker 3>like them also the most metro person for sure, that's stock.
<v Speaker 3>I like them. I think they're I think they're really interesting,
<v Speaker 3>but sometimes they get in their own way of being fun.
<v Speaker 2>Sure, yes, I think like I want some of that
<v Speaker 2>sick of stuff, and I was just not finding a
<v Speaker 2>pathway to be like okay, and I'm doing that and
<v Speaker 2>that's going to unlock what for me in the world.
<v Speaker 2>I just couldn't click with it quite yet. I did
<v Speaker 2>find the last one, Exodus to sort of be the
<v Speaker 2>most streamlined version of it, and I wonder if they're
<v Speaker 2>going to keep going in that direction with this next one.
<v Speaker 3>We will see.
<v Speaker 2>It's April sixteenth, Thursday, ten A in Pacific one pm
<v Speaker 2>eastering for that reveal of what the game is actually
<v Speaker 2>going to be like. Next up confirmed, at least as
<v Speaker 2>far as we can tell. Switch to game cards now
<v Speaker 2>come in smaller sizes for developers, So if you remember
<v Speaker 2>when the thing launched, developers seem to have two options,
<v Speaker 2>three options.
<v Speaker 3>Really.
<v Speaker 2>You could put your game on a sixty four gigabyte
<v Speaker 2>game card, which was really expensive for them, so they'd
<v Speaker 2>have to charge a lot of money, or they can
<v Speaker 2>only put the biggest games on there. Or you could
<v Speaker 2>put it on a game key card which doesn't have
<v Speaker 2>any game data on there, you're just downloading the game,
<v Speaker 2>or you could just put it out digitally. Now it
<v Speaker 2>does seem like Nintendo's offering developers a selection of possibilities
<v Speaker 2>that are labeled as G one through G six, where
<v Speaker 2>G one is two gigabytes, G six is sixty four gigabytes,
<v Speaker 2>and then there's four, eight, sixteen, and thirty two between there.
<v Speaker 2>So the good news here is if you are someone
<v Speaker 2>who buys physical games. Going forward, it might be much
<v Speaker 2>more likely that smaller indie games that are that should
<v Speaker 2>fit on that eight gigabyte card or whatever will be
<v Speaker 2>priced more appropriately and much more likely to actually fully
<v Speaker 2>be on the game card itself, which is what people
<v Speaker 2>are clamoring for. So some good news there. We were
<v Speaker 2>expecting this to happen. Sounds like before we got to
<v Speaker 2>the first year anniversary of the switch to they were
<v Speaker 2>able to deliver this.
<v Speaker 3>So good news. Amberdick has a new handheld, the pocket
<v Speaker 3>friendly Android device that is the Ambernick RG Rotate, and
<v Speaker 3>they're kind of position it almost as like a a
<v Speaker 3>music player, a like a pocketable not PDA, but sort
<v Speaker 3>of just like a buddy device that can do all
<v Speaker 3>these other things. And if you swivel out the screen
<v Speaker 3>behind it, there are controls so you can play games
<v Speaker 3>on it as well. But they have people like hanging
<v Speaker 3>it from their pocket on a string and it's gonna
<v Speaker 3>clock on it.
<v Speaker 2>But you know, just like a j it's almost a
<v Speaker 2>lot or sign a big dumb watch. And part of
<v Speaker 2>me is like, hey, this is a throwback to a
<v Speaker 2>time when we did get a lot of dumb electronics
<v Speaker 2>from companies It's also reminded of like where we're at
<v Speaker 2>with these handheld devices. They're all just about powerful enough
<v Speaker 2>to do anything you would want to do on them.
<v Speaker 2>So all the extra power they're getting.
<v Speaker 3>They're like, what, like you just play the dream against again?
<v Speaker 3>I guess yeah.
<v Speaker 2>And so they're looking for gimmicks to make their stuff
<v Speaker 2>stand out like that, and I like to get I
<v Speaker 2>don't know if this one's for me, uh, but I'm
<v Speaker 2>I like them trying more stuff.
<v Speaker 1>Speaking about gimmicks with street passing, right, yeah? Is that
<v Speaker 1>just from a device to device thing or do they
<v Speaker 1>need to be connected online?
<v Speaker 3>You could be device device.
<v Speaker 4>You'd be walking through a park or whatever and getting
<v Speaker 4>the street passes or like three show floor days and
<v Speaker 4>you could never get that Wi Fi working and you'd
<v Speaker 4>get a million street passes.
<v Speaker 1>How do we partner up with one of these companies
<v Speaker 1>to just make a street pass device?
<v Speaker 3>You want to bring back street pass? Yeah? I do all.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, partner with them, man.
<v Speaker 5>We're gonna make our own find me this Yeah you
<v Speaker 5>have to find evil jam.
<v Speaker 1>Yes exactly.
<v Speaker 3>It did work with like McDonald's Wi Fi.
<v Speaker 2>You could connected to McDonald's Wi Fi and then anyone
<v Speaker 2>who connected like that day would also be added to
<v Speaker 2>your street pass. So they had other ways of doing it,
<v Speaker 2>and people eventually were like, hey, if you switch your
<v Speaker 2>macaddress on your router to be the same as the macaddress,
<v Speaker 2>is this McDonald's router, you can just have your own
<v Speaker 2>McDonald's street pass Wi Fi in your house and just
<v Speaker 2>street pass.
<v Speaker 3>From the comfort of your own home. I think I
<v Speaker 3>think I saw MAC address.
<v Speaker 6>Okay, like a big yeah, okay, yeah, yes.
<v Speaker 3>Exactly maybe McDonald's address.
<v Speaker 6>That's what I finally know what that is? Great?
<v Speaker 2>But that's the promises to fix Starfield PS five crashes.
<v Speaker 2>Some fans complain make it unplayable. No, the tail is
<v Speaker 2>the oldest time and the bugs. H it's yeah. Another
<v Speaker 2>game from this company launches and is in some dire straits.
<v Speaker 3>Uh. I don't know how do people still put up
<v Speaker 3>with this?
<v Speaker 1>It's like the I think you should leave hot Dog
<v Speaker 1>sketch of like we should really find the guy.
<v Speaker 5>Who did this, hun like, we get this. I'm sorry,
<v Speaker 5>been so long, take more time until it's.
<v Speaker 1>People are talking about sprace lets scutter sprace came out.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah right, yeah.
<v Speaker 4>Did you see the quote Pete Heines gave about why
<v Speaker 4>he left the Bethesda No, No, it's interesting. It said
<v Speaker 4>something about it's it's not god. I don't want to
<v Speaker 4>say it wrong, but sometime that I just didn't feel
<v Speaker 4>genuine anymore or authentic like the company, and you just
<v Speaker 4>like quit basically.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's interesting. Guy. Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>I think maybe that this these bugs are just trying
<v Speaker 5>to stop people from playing Starfield, say them it's a
<v Speaker 5>community service.
<v Speaker 3>Uh huh.
<v Speaker 2>The game did pop off on Xbox with its latest update,
<v Speaker 2>like it's player count like tripled or something like that,
<v Speaker 2>but I don't know, it doesn't. It seems like it's
<v Speaker 2>doing okay on PlayStation in terms of sales, but people
<v Speaker 2>are getting refunds because of some of these crashes. It's
<v Speaker 2>the crashes, right, bugs in it. That's the game I've
<v Speaker 2>made peace with. But anytime you crash, you gotta fix
<v Speaker 2>that before you.
<v Speaker 3>Lunch your game.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, what's gonna happen your spaceship.
<v Speaker 3>Right, it's just gonna go away, gonna go bye bye.
<v Speaker 3>Uh and then all right, let's see here next.
<v Speaker 2>One Spider Man model appears to tease new PlayStation game
<v Speaker 2>in now deleted post. And that's like the person who
<v Speaker 2>is the model the likeness model for Insomniac Spider Man games.
<v Speaker 2>Ben Jordan hinted at working on new content for a
<v Speaker 2>potential future game via a sense deleted Instagram post with
<v Speaker 2>a Spider Man emoji and the caption, I way, k oh,
<v Speaker 2>I can't just say k y k if you know
<v Speaker 2>you know yes Jordan's yeah. Jordan's only acting credits are
<v Speaker 2>for the PlayStation's Marvel's Spider Man games. While some speculated
<v Speaker 2>it could be for the upcoming Wolverine game, that is
<v Speaker 2>unlikely given its release schedule that's coming out later this year.
<v Speaker 2>Marvel's Marble Games's Bosses has implied continued collaboration with Insomniac. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>they're making more of these for Siderman three.
<v Speaker 3>Kevin's back Jack, nice, good job.
<v Speaker 2>The next one we're getting from them probably is Venom,
<v Speaker 2>but Spider Man would show up in that at least
<v Speaker 2>a little bit.
<v Speaker 3>So yeah, yeah, almost there. Mike Redeemed yourself, I think
<v Speaker 3>bangers than contractor. Yeah, yeah, you're on probation. It's so
<v Speaker 3>funny with voice actor.
<v Speaker 5>I don't know why voice sectors think that they just
<v Speaker 5>like live in this different world where they could announce it.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah linked now ye I imagine they had to.
<v Speaker 5>They must be so serious with the wonder, like to
<v Speaker 5>be clear, this is a secret project in their minds.
<v Speaker 5>They're just playing the last five tiktoks they saw or
<v Speaker 5>something over and over.
<v Speaker 3>Right, I mean agents, right, the you know, the talent
<v Speaker 3>doesn't sit in the room.
<v Speaker 2>The agent needs to relay that stuff and then the
<v Speaker 2>actor does that with the agents.
<v Speaker 3>That you would be surprised. Never forget at the end
<v Speaker 3>of the day that people are people and there is
<v Speaker 3>no full proof way to secure any information whatsoever, and
<v Speaker 3>that you know, you're just dealing with people.
<v Speaker 2>I like always love the fact of like, and I
<v Speaker 2>don't know how true it is I heard it, but
<v Speaker 2>like the brain runs on fifteen to twenty watts of
<v Speaker 2>power and it shuts down all the time to just
<v Speaker 2>not deal with stuff. And it's like, yeah, like that's
<v Speaker 2>like a calculator. Yeah, babies shut down all the time.
<v Speaker 2>Yep uh, last story here and this one I dedicate
<v Speaker 2>to Dan Reiker.
<v Speaker 3>Sony is prepping a.
<v Speaker 2>Metal Gear movie, live action Metal Gear Solid movie, ending
<v Speaker 2>a long period of the project languishing and development.
<v Speaker 6>Hear that period in two thousand and four, two thousany
<v Speaker 6>twelve and twenty sixteen.
<v Speaker 3>Weird, this time is different. That languishing has ended. We'll
<v Speaker 3>never languish again.
<v Speaker 5>Uh.
<v Speaker 2>The film, which has no release date or cast yet,
<v Speaker 2>will be directed by and let them be producers Avia
<v Speaker 2>Rod and his friend ari A Rod.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know. I think, yes, Son, that sounds right.
<v Speaker 3>This is this is it? This is the real one.
<v Speaker 5>Man, I don't It's like the go to joke, but
<v Speaker 5>this one specifically, I like, it'd be really funny if
<v Speaker 5>Chris Pratt was.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, Chris Fret's gonna be the blood Borne Hunter. So
<v Speaker 2>don't worry about.
<v Speaker 3>Okay.
<v Speaker 4>Kajimas said quote, I have received many offers to adapt
<v Speaker 4>Metal Gear Solid. It has taken a long time, but
<v Speaker 4>we finally settled on an arrangement. False facts aside. A
<v Speaker 4>movie project is underway. I finalized a Class A contra.
<v Speaker 4>Oh this is from two thousand and six. Sorry everybody, Oh,
<v Speaker 4>we're kind of a producer. Michael de Luca confirmed they're
<v Speaker 4>getting the movie and gear that they're talking about. Equilibrium
<v Speaker 4>director Kurt two thousand and eight. Oh sorry, sorry, Equilibrium rules.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>You think maybe the fact that coach like isn't involved,
<v Speaker 5>or maybe.
<v Speaker 3>Doesn't it right? Oh? Right, Yeah, they don't need him anymore.
<v Speaker 4>Oh wait, it's moving forward to Columbia Picture oh twenty twelve.
<v Speaker 4>Sorry sorry sorry, Oh they're in Top of the Director
<v Speaker 4>twenty fourteen.
<v Speaker 6>Okay, got it?
<v Speaker 2>Yep, dang, yeah, I think this is the safe approach
<v Speaker 2>Dan that I just assume.
<v Speaker 3>Oh yeah, so it's actually in a movie theater. It's
<v Speaker 3>until you know what. Now, I'll give it this.
<v Speaker 4>I'll give it this phrase if I see a set
<v Speaker 4>photo or a trailer obviously, but I think if I
<v Speaker 4>see a solid snake on a set if there will
<v Speaker 4>believe it. So it's like like when those like Zelda
<v Speaker 4>pictures come, It's like, oha, I guess they're actually making that.
<v Speaker 2>That's what made it real for me. Yeah, that finished
<v Speaker 2>filming today. That it's the filming is done on great.
<v Speaker 5>Trailer in a few months, right, they're gonna be able
<v Speaker 5>to put something together.
<v Speaker 1>Just weird. I think they announced it's like not not
<v Speaker 1>coming out until May twenty twenty seven.
<v Speaker 3>Oh jeez, okay, I feel like.
<v Speaker 1>We're in twenty twenty six. Oh yeah, we'll get a
<v Speaker 1>trailer suit never mind.
<v Speaker 3>Feel me.
<v Speaker 4>The only one of these gaming movies in development that
<v Speaker 4>I kind of have an eye on is that Alex
<v Speaker 4>Garland elden Ring because it's and that's only because it's
<v Speaker 4>Alex Garland and like good stuff like.
<v Speaker 5>Chris Pratt's co star Chris Pratt's got it in for
<v Speaker 5>elden Ring.
<v Speaker 3>Now are you doing that? Are you using that? Are
<v Speaker 3>you Chris Pratt's pocket or something? Or using new ron
<v Speaker 3>a lot of money? Yeah?
<v Speaker 5>I mean Ronnie the Witch hotter than ever, get even
<v Speaker 5>more arms. I keep saying it shook his ego better.
<v Speaker 2>One here is that these movies are making a lot
<v Speaker 2>of money now, so uh, I do think that the
<v Speaker 2>sort of thing that gets these guys motivated in the
<v Speaker 2>first place to get these things out is more real
<v Speaker 2>than it's ever been. And even with all that said,
<v Speaker 2>a middle Gear middle Gear movie actually coming to Fruition
<v Speaker 2>and releasing seems unlikely right now.
<v Speaker 1>I know that Oscar Isaac was like briefly attached to
<v Speaker 1>one of the many attempts Christian Bale. Do we do
<v Speaker 1>we have an actor we think could be solid.
<v Speaker 5>Snake nowadays, Glenn pet guy from your Star Wars show.
<v Speaker 3>Maybe he's Neat Diego Luna. Yeah, that'd be cool.
<v Speaker 2>I would like that all Ton actually, but Uh, who
<v Speaker 2>is the Josh from uh the Latest Knives Out movie?
<v Speaker 3>I think he could uh Josh O'Connell Josh. I would
<v Speaker 3>like that.
<v Speaker 5>I could see Glenn Powell, you know what, it'll be
<v Speaker 5>the other guy from Star Wars that's just in everything now.
<v Speaker 3>Actually we like him, but he's definitely over.
<v Speaker 1>Said Adam Driver at no, Yes, Driver, I'll see that
<v Speaker 1>would be a killer.
<v Speaker 3>Oscar. That's right, Pedro Bascal Pascal.
<v Speaker 2>I think Patro's just aged out a little bit. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>they would want to have someone that could do a
<v Speaker 2>ton of movies with if it.
<v Speaker 6>Even moses solid Snake, what is he like thirty in
<v Speaker 6>that Well.
<v Speaker 5>He's he's like supposed to be kind of retiring, like
<v Speaker 5>he's he is supposed to be like you're getting old.
<v Speaker 1>Right, it's not your back jack, but this Robert Patson
<v Speaker 1>just do it.
<v Speaker 2>Chat saying Matt Johnson, Yeah, let's do that. He's always
<v Speaker 2>got the bandana, he's already got it.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, make it me.
<v Speaker 6>Oh, someone says Adam Driver as Psychomantis.
<v Speaker 1>That would be that's good that.
<v Speaker 2>He's like it's like I thought you liked I thought
<v Speaker 2>you liked Castlemedia.
<v Speaker 3>That's really stupid. I think John I think that one
<v Speaker 3>is really stupid. I think John Stamos could do it.
<v Speaker 3>Sure cut it out.
<v Speaker 2>Steven Baldwin, Yeah yeah, hell yeah, that.
<v Speaker 3>Does it for the headlines. Jam. This show's back over
<v Speaker 3>to you, folks.
<v Speaker 1>We're going to take another quick bricky break and we
<v Speaker 1>will be back with emails, super chats and perhaps Grub
<v Speaker 1>has prepared another ad for us to ponder over grub guesser.
<v Speaker 1>Right after this the or the show emails BombCast John
<v Speaker 1>bomb dot com is your email addressed to send your
<v Speaker 1>emails too. You can write in about any and everything
<v Speaker 1>you want. Our opinion on something, you got nice words
<v Speaker 1>to say, you got little quiz is, do whatever you want,
<v Speaker 1>send it our way. And you know what here, if
<v Speaker 1>the Metal Gear movie is happening, we have to be
<v Speaker 1>in it.
<v Speaker 3>Just knock us out.
<v Speaker 4>If it actually does start happening, like, I will start
<v Speaker 4>pulling every dumb Dan lever I can to do something
<v Speaker 4>in there.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah, sure, Like I want Dan to be the
<v Speaker 1>first person knocked out in that movie he gets tranked
<v Speaker 1>or whatever.
<v Speaker 4>Snap my neck immediately. Yeah, yeah, yes, geez, they are
<v Speaker 4>this is real. I do need to start just the
<v Speaker 4>campaign of bugging everyone involved with it.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, exactly, exactly. We also have to be in the
<v Speaker 1>next Sonic movie. I've I've determined, all right.
<v Speaker 3>All of us is a little teaser. All of us
<v Speaker 3>is a little chow. You know it would be so Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I want to be a chow. I want to be
<v Speaker 3>a flicky.
<v Speaker 5>Birds See the fact that I know that a flicky
<v Speaker 5>means I should be in the movie.
<v Speaker 3>Is that what that means? Yeah? Doesn't it just mean
<v Speaker 3>you're old? A flicky? You said flicky? What the fuck?
<v Speaker 1>Yeah? Well, it's flicky to rock around. It's flicky Sonic
<v Speaker 1>for son for Devin's.
<v Speaker 3>Back Jack, no diminishing returns. But I still like it.
<v Speaker 3>Keep doing it. It's gonna get funnier again. All right.
<v Speaker 1>The horse is not just dead anymore. It's in the
<v Speaker 1>quicksand like, uh, never ending story.
<v Speaker 3>And okay, traumatized that's what gets everyone.
<v Speaker 1>Uh. Col Andrew writes in What's Good Duders, I'm gonna
<v Speaker 1>be watching WrestleMania on Discord this weekend with some friends
<v Speaker 1>of mine. Well, I don't really watch or pay attention
<v Speaker 1>to wrestling. We usually only watch the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania.
<v Speaker 1>My YouTube feed has been popping up as of late
<v Speaker 1>with a single wrestler. Guys, what's the deal with Dan
<v Speaker 1>Housen supers.
<v Speaker 6>To be a punter for the Colts?
<v Speaker 3>Is that right? Yeah? Is that true?
<v Speaker 5>Making thank you Andrew from What's r V A Richmond,
<v Speaker 5>Virginia maybe.
<v Speaker 4>Is a weird little goblin man that is kind of
<v Speaker 4>a throwback to like old kind of monster movie tropes
<v Speaker 4>and stuff, And he collects human teeth in a.
<v Speaker 6>Jar and he curses people.
<v Speaker 3>He rarely wrestles actually these days, he's a he's a
<v Speaker 3>comedy wrestler.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah, honestly, it's it's like a weirdly like in a
<v Speaker 4>time when w do like everything they seem to be
<v Speaker 4>doing is pretty bad. Right now, Dan Housen is w Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>I mean he was forever he was an aw forbid
<v Speaker 4>and that didn't really use him.
<v Speaker 6>Uh. He is a really funny guy.
<v Speaker 4>So like, for instance, Conan O'Brien, who like is not
<v Speaker 4>a wrestling fan, was fascinated by just the character of
<v Speaker 4>Dan hous and just his look, his weird comedy. He
<v Speaker 4>just like seems to get everyone's names wrong and funny ways. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>it collects teeth and curses people. So he recently cursed
<v Speaker 4>I show Speed. Oh no, yeah, and I show he
<v Speaker 4>just goes cursed and then your curse.
<v Speaker 3>Speed and Speed knew about it or was Speed then yeah?
<v Speaker 6>Yeah yeah, and he points at him in Speed is
<v Speaker 6>like what the hell? And then l A. Knight showed
<v Speaker 6>up at his house during a stream and threw him
<v Speaker 6>through his computer.
<v Speaker 3>So that was because the curse manifest in that way. Wow?
<v Speaker 3>Yeah yeah.
<v Speaker 1>So he he also accidentally cursed a referee and his
<v Speaker 1>arm cramped up so he couldn't count the three.
<v Speaker 4>Yep, he cursed what Kit Wilson who was on the
<v Speaker 4>top turn buckle, and then Pyro came out of the
<v Speaker 4>turn buckle and cossing the match.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, cur people, you know a lot of Housen Yeah
<v Speaker 3>about him? I like him.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, he's good. He's really good.
<v Speaker 1>Dan Housen and Oba Femi are the only two things
<v Speaker 1>I like about w W.
<v Speaker 6>Last night was very good, very good. Strapped the rocket
<v Speaker 6>that should be the guy for years. Yes, all right.
<v Speaker 1>Next email is all about Scrappy. Do mail our apologies.
<v Speaker 1>I forgot to get your name written down here. As
<v Speaker 1>a knower of Scooby Doo things, I was listening to
<v Speaker 1>y'all talk about Scrappy's origins and I wanted to chime in.
<v Speaker 1>In the intro of Scooby and scrappy Do, Mike is
<v Speaker 1>partially right. The little dude falls out of a train
<v Speaker 1>and emerges out of a box, excitedly meeting his uncle
<v Speaker 1>Scooby for the first time. Scrappy is Scooby's nephew. He
<v Speaker 1>was sent to adventure with the gang by his sister Ruby.
<v Speaker 1>Oh really though, Ruby Doo really do, really though, And
<v Speaker 1>this story is so long, we'll keep it short. The
<v Speaker 1>franchise was experiencing turbulence, so Hannah Barbara thought introducing a smaller,
<v Speaker 1>kid like character to the series would help bolster its ratings.
<v Speaker 3>And it worked.
<v Speaker 1>Kids love Scrappy and the series became mega popular again.
<v Speaker 1>The studio saw this and kept throwing the pup into
<v Speaker 1>every single thing until eventually the rest of the gang disappeared,
<v Speaker 1>and more than anything, it became the Scrappy Do Show.
<v Speaker 1>By the late eighties, public perception of Scrappy event actually
<v Speaker 1>soured heavily, and he became such a tainted character that
<v Speaker 1>they rarely bring him back except as a villain these
<v Speaker 1>days for all you do. Sorry for the long email,
<v Speaker 1>but as the resident Scooby Doo person. I thought i'd
<v Speaker 1>chime in, thanks Fair.
<v Speaker 4>I did not realize he was hated until recently. Like
<v Speaker 4>I genuinely I just loved Scrappy Doo, Like I did
<v Speaker 4>not know there was any like turn against him or
<v Speaker 4>anything like that.
<v Speaker 2>I think even as a kid, I got the vibe
<v Speaker 2>that he was an interloper.
<v Speaker 3>He had shown up, and he.
<v Speaker 2>Had shown up, and I was like, this is supposed
<v Speaker 2>to be about Scooby Doo, right, what is this motherfucker
<v Speaker 2>doing here and just taking up all of the oxygen
<v Speaker 2>out of the room.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, Look, he was popular, and I think they maybe
<v Speaker 5>pushed him too hard and people he'd go away, he
<v Speaker 5>like because he gets he's in Gooby's Scooby Doooby.
<v Speaker 6>Gooby goods like dog.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, but he's in Scooby Doo in the Ghoule School,
<v Speaker 5>which is like a top tier Scooby Doo movie thing, right,
<v Speaker 5>and like like that one is just Scooby Shag and
<v Speaker 5>Scrappy Man. Soo many says it's hard to keep track
<v Speaker 5>of all of them, So like, I don't know, I
<v Speaker 5>just I still associate Scrappy with mostly good feelings.
<v Speaker 3>But I also, like, you.
<v Speaker 5>Know, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna hold a torch
<v Speaker 5>for him or whine about his current status as a meme,
<v Speaker 5>although I think part of me is like, all right,
<v Speaker 5>have you all picked the scrappy do enough?
<v Speaker 3>We get it. You know you didn't like him.
<v Speaker 6>I will hold Okay, that's brave.
<v Speaker 3>Uh, Jeff Beckler.
<v Speaker 1>I feel like you do a good Scooby.
<v Speaker 3>Uh. Scooby Doo is like, oh, I don't know, I
<v Speaker 3>don't know if I've tried it. What is that.
<v Speaker 7>R?
<v Speaker 3>It's like like that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think I'm excited to uh, you know, listen,
<v Speaker 2>no no promises on us deliver in it like super soon.
<v Speaker 2>But we're gonna try to get to it the game
<v Speaker 2>that we're supposed to make with with Chuck, because I
<v Speaker 2>want Backler.
<v Speaker 3>To do so many characters because he's so good at
<v Speaker 3>voice acting.
<v Speaker 1>I'm excited about this, and we just g over him
<v Speaker 1>to denote a different costume change.
<v Speaker 3>Fucking great idea. He could just be every n PC.
<v Speaker 1>I would love that he's not actually in the game
<v Speaker 1>as Jeff Backlar, but he's every NPC.
<v Speaker 3>That's fine, that's fine. Romance.
<v Speaker 2>Jeff Becklaar is scrappy do whatever you want me to wait.
<v Speaker 5>Wait, can we make the subtitle of our game Kevin's Back.
<v Speaker 3>You're so close to closing this loop. This is a triumph. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I'm do it.
<v Speaker 6>No, let's just call the game Bully to Kevin's Back. Check.
<v Speaker 3>What's stopping us? Nothing?
<v Speaker 1>Copyright law, It's the Bully. Spell it different somehow. Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>it will just like two o's instead.
<v Speaker 6>Of a Also, Kevin's back, all right, and it's ghosts.
<v Speaker 3>There we go, Kevin, Yeah too, be good at the
<v Speaker 3>ghouls school Scooby Goo?
<v Speaker 1>Alright, gang moving along. Today is Tuesday, and it is
<v Speaker 1>a Portal Pals week. Gang, get your peepes out. What
<v Speaker 1>because episode two Portal Pals is dropping this afternoon. And
<v Speaker 1>Xavier writes in from Valdez, North Carolina. You know I
<v Speaker 1>read that and I thought this was a setup joke.
<v Speaker 1>Thankfully it's not.
<v Speaker 3>What up.
<v Speaker 1>Fellow Aperture Lab scientists wanted to write and show off
<v Speaker 1>my portal themed motorcycle. It's a twenty twenty one Live
<v Speaker 1>Wire one Harley Davidson's fully electric motorcycle. And when I
<v Speaker 1>got it, I noticed a tank area and head like
<v Speaker 1>cow looked like a portal gun. Wow paint in three
<v Speaker 1>D parts I themed the bike after one of my
<v Speaker 1>favorite games. I also have a custom horn and some
<v Speaker 1>voice lines and sounds from the I can trigger with
<v Speaker 1>a key fub on the charge report.
<v Speaker 3>Does this make me an honorable pp Yes, yes, you've
<v Speaker 3>done that.
<v Speaker 5>You are an honorable deep congratulations for making it in.
<v Speaker 3>Their poor poles. I think looks super sick accident.
<v Speaker 2>If this thing doesn't get you dates, that's all I'm saying.
<v Speaker 2>Do you pull up in this thing? You should be
<v Speaker 2>able to, like, ask anyone out and get a date.
<v Speaker 5>In my opinion, Yeah, hey, yeah, we'll talking about Porto
<v Speaker 5>Poles again. New episode of that is popping off later today.
<v Speaker 5>This is April fourteenth, four pm Eastern. This is the
<v Speaker 5>first one that is premium only. Everybody you got to

<v Speaker 5>to giant bomb dot com slash Join you can become
<v Speaker 5>a premium member a premium Portal Power that's premium.
<v Speaker 3>That's a triple P. That's a PPP. Everybody b good
<v Speaker 3>for this.
<v Speaker 5>In future episodes, you can you can see the fan
<v Speaker 5>incident and all of its glory. You can see the
<v Speaker 5>budding friendship between me and Mary almost torn apart, almost
<v Speaker 5>stopped on before it can bud and flourish into a
<v Speaker 5>beautiful flower. How will the Portal Pals overcome these trials
<v Speaker 5>at the hands of the mad Ai scientists GLaDOS. You'll
<v Speaker 5>see all of that and more and Portal Pals Episode
<v Speaker 5>two exclusively on Giant Bomb Premium.
<v Speaker 1>Mary has such a unique way of being very serpentine
<v Speaker 1>and being able to skirt past every different like filter
<v Speaker 1>in my head because it takes me a long time
<v Speaker 1>to edit the show, mostly because I have to pause
<v Speaker 1>and just think to myself, can we can we keep
<v Speaker 1>that in.
<v Speaker 5>You?
<v Speaker 3>It's gonna get canceled. No, no, no, no. The thing is,
<v Speaker 3>you can't cancel Mary Kish all right, No, of course not.
<v Speaker 3>He's too powerful. She'll beat you up. She was the
<v Speaker 3>only one that we're hoping might be able to take
<v Speaker 3>care of Dance. So it's long.
<v Speaker 6>Yeah, physically more than any of you.
<v Speaker 1>But Mary has some very interesting things to say in
<v Speaker 1>this one. Uh oh boy, you should see it. You
<v Speaker 1>should see it, all right. Travis from Fargo rights in
<v Speaker 1>with five questions I choose one of them, Travis rights in,
<v Speaker 1>and I chose not work related. What's the best thing
<v Speaker 1>video games have done for you?
<v Speaker 3>Work relate? Not work? Really? Wow? Okay? Wow?
<v Speaker 4>Me and Biaka really, you know, hitting off immediately their
<v Speaker 4>love games and her dating profile, mentioning Soldier of Fortune too,
<v Speaker 4>and her paying on her Dreamcast Unreal tournament, stuff like, oh, okay,
<v Speaker 4>I think I need to talk to this.
<v Speaker 3>Girl, babe.
<v Speaker 5>I would, I'd say you, but it's kind of game relay,
<v Speaker 5>because you know, I mean through Giant Barmber it's work related.
<v Speaker 3>You're you think you're disqualified. They're mean. I don't think
<v Speaker 3>I've disqualified. I agree, Mike, I think your relationship is disqualified.
<v Speaker 2>I just can't imagine walking on thin ice more than
<v Speaker 2>saying to your loved one you're disqualified.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah.
<v Speaker 3>I guess the thing. I'll try and answer this in
<v Speaker 3>a sincere way. In the beginning of COVID, uh, that
<v Speaker 3>was a very grounding and socializing thing. I think that
<v Speaker 3>was played a very important role in those very scary
<v Speaker 3>early days of what wound up being a hoax.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and now is flowing through our system, Yeah, now exactly.
<v Speaker 3>I just I'll make that joke for it, right, there's
<v Speaker 3>no joke here. There's no joke here, buddy. So funny. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>I don't get it.
<v Speaker 2>Similar like like growing up and being like, uh, I
<v Speaker 2>am good at test at school, but I don't like
<v Speaker 2>the rest of school, and I have all this mental
<v Speaker 2>energy of like I want to be solving problems, I
<v Speaker 2>want to.
<v Speaker 3>Be doing and like where do I put that?
<v Speaker 2>Like video games were waiting for me at every turn
<v Speaker 2>and being like, you're good at these things. Actually you
<v Speaker 2>can figure out problems. You can be confronted with a
<v Speaker 2>bunch of challenges and figure them out pretty quickly and
<v Speaker 2>in a way that is satisfying and makes you feel
<v Speaker 2>good about yourself. So games kind of gave me a
<v Speaker 2>sense of self worth that a lot of other stuff
<v Speaker 2>was actively eroding when I was growing up. So yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I'll credit games with that.
<v Speaker 4>I've never heard anyone like to say it like that,
<v Speaker 4>but like that's exactly how I felt too. It's like, oh,
<v Speaker 4>I know I could be good at this school stuff,
<v Speaker 4>but it sucks, so I don't care. Like yeah, yeah,
<v Speaker 4>but yeah video games like giving you the puzzles and
<v Speaker 4>Zelda games and stuff like that.
<v Speaker 1>Totally, Yeah, I think it helped encourage my reading ab
<v Speaker 1>as a youth.
<v Speaker 3>Sure, just like, oh yeah, the.
<v Speaker 1>Games that I was drawn to as a kid, a
<v Speaker 1>lot of reading RPGs and stuff and like that, just like,
<v Speaker 1>oh cool, I like this story. Let me go read
<v Speaker 1>a book. I guess, uh, all right.
<v Speaker 3>I think our generation, and I'll include you too, Jen,
<v Speaker 3>if you'll allow, I know, at the very baby end
<v Speaker 3>of our generation. I do think. Again, I'm talking about
<v Speaker 3>like us because I'm not so sure anymore, but I
<v Speaker 3>do think that the net positives are substantial for what
<v Speaker 3>you kind of we're able to extract out of that,
<v Speaker 3>and and I and I and we have the the
<v Speaker 3>evidence that supports that kind of stuff too. Like I said,
<v Speaker 3>I don't know if it's still a thing if you
<v Speaker 3>are just not Yeah, if you were just melting away
<v Speaker 3>on roadblocks all day, that's probably not the same thing.
<v Speaker 3>But I do think in terms of you know, and
<v Speaker 3>obviously in moderation, but I do think a lot of
<v Speaker 3>problem solving math read I think all that stuff is
<v Speaker 3>accelerated in a very positive way.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, or even just like like heavy to desire to
<v Speaker 2>play video games, so it like forced me to get
<v Speaker 2>on the computer and figure out how the computer worked,
<v Speaker 2>and oh yeah, it's illicit, but like figuring out piracy
<v Speaker 2>and like can I get on the Internet and solve
<v Speaker 2>those problems of like can I find this stuff that
<v Speaker 2>I want that is hidden from me? In all these
<v Speaker 2>other ways, I had to like learn the way the
<v Speaker 2>internet worked and the way that people communicate and share
<v Speaker 2>these things with one another. It forced me to like
<v Speaker 2>get into a community in a way that I would
<v Speaker 2>not have otherwise.
<v Speaker 3>And this is will sound maybe a little I don't know,
<v Speaker 3>but I think like game playing video games so so
<v Speaker 3>young exposed me to like, hey, it's a big planet.
<v Speaker 3>A lot of the stuff's not It's not all here,
<v Speaker 3>you know, the universe is not you know, circling me
<v Speaker 3>and my little part of it, right, And I think
<v Speaker 3>that that exposure to that stuff early on, certainly, you know,
<v Speaker 3>it was like oh, hey, there's there's there's a whole
<v Speaker 3>lot of people here, a whole lot of people doing stuff.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, like importing stuff like yeah, any like I import
<v Speaker 2>video games from never would have imported something from another
<v Speaker 2>country without video games.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, all right, moving on along, This one's for you,
<v Speaker 1>mister backlar Hey Bombers, What is Jeff doing about the
<v Speaker 1>three D printing fumes or is he just inhaling that
<v Speaker 1>sweet smelling and probably better for you PLA fumes and
<v Speaker 1>dangerous fumes from other materials. I'd love to get into
<v Speaker 1>three three D printing, being a three D artist myself. Bill,
<v Speaker 1>living in a small apartment has ventilation concerns. Thanks and
<v Speaker 1>keep up all the great stuff. Brian from Long Island.
<v Speaker 2>Long Island, Brian, you're worried about PLA another hoax brother.
<v Speaker 3>Brother on Long Island. Okay, that's a joke, not really,
<v Speaker 3>but listen, PLAD. I've done a good amount of research
<v Speaker 3>and understanding this. I do know that PLA is the
<v Speaker 3>among the least toxic filaments that you can get involved
<v Speaker 3>in with three D prints. It's like eating silica packets. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>totally totally. And I do know like abs and what's
<v Speaker 3>that other popular one, PETG. I do know that they
<v Speaker 3>give off more toxic fumes when that you are printing
<v Speaker 3>with them. I only really print with PLA, but it
<v Speaker 3>still helps to have a ventilated, you know, a space.
<v Speaker 3>I know people who like printing closets and that's probably insane,
<v Speaker 3>but you're also probably not in the closet with the
<v Speaker 3>printer at the same time. So you know, there are
<v Speaker 3>like third party attachments you can get that will filter
<v Speaker 3>out the air. I know the Bamboo ones come with
<v Speaker 3>sort of like a maybe not so satisfactory built in mechanism,
<v Speaker 3>but I do think if you're printing primarily with PLA,
<v Speaker 3>you are mostly in the clear. Again, I would not like,
<v Speaker 3>just like you wouldn't, you know, stand in front of
<v Speaker 3>a microwave for ten minutes. I would not sort of like, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>well yeah, well that you just don't you know, don't
<v Speaker 3>huff those fumes and watch, yeah, don't hover over the
<v Speaker 3>printer just you know, maybe and if you can, best
<v Speaker 3>case you're not in the same room as it.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean, go for a walk. It's gonna take
<v Speaker 2>a minute anyhow. Obviously you want to observe things, but
<v Speaker 2>I mean I might do. These things all have like
<v Speaker 2>cameras built in, and do a lot of people sell cameras.
<v Speaker 3>All the new ones have cameras built Oh cool, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>so you can, you know, and they do that so
<v Speaker 3>you can make yourself a little time lapse if you want,
<v Speaker 3>and obviously check in on it. They're getting so good though,
<v Speaker 3>now though, they're like I think some of the new
<v Speaker 3>Bamboo ones like they'll detect some sort of printing error
<v Speaker 3>almost immediately and just like shut down and be like,
<v Speaker 3>this thing's just spaghetti. You gotta start over or something.
<v Speaker 3>But yeah, PLA, I would not worry so much. And
<v Speaker 3>I do think there is a bit of a third
<v Speaker 3>party paranoia that's being generated by these manufacturers who are
<v Speaker 3>making these add ons. But you know, there's there's decent
<v Speaker 3>reporting out there that that sort of says PLA is
<v Speaker 3>not the most awfully harmful thing. Again, don't hover, maybe
<v Speaker 3>try not be in the same room as the thing.
<v Speaker 1>Cool, cool, lovely, lovely. Thank you for that knowledge, Sean
<v Speaker 1>from andover Connecticut right soon. Starfield is one of the
<v Speaker 1>best RPGs of the past several years. What wrong opinions
<v Speaker 1>do you, guys, Havelock female?
<v Speaker 6>All right, I guess so.
<v Speaker 2>Let's rewind to the very first sentence of this podcast. Uh,
<v Speaker 2>mine is that games don't need stories. It's an opinion
<v Speaker 2>I always hear myself saying. I'm like, oh, shut up, Jeff,
<v Speaker 2>that's stupid. It's you like lots of games to have stories.
<v Speaker 2>So yeah, that's definitely.
<v Speaker 4>Why I might borrow grubs, but also be more earnest
<v Speaker 4>about it.
<v Speaker 3>There you go, go for it. I'll cheer you on silently.
<v Speaker 5>I think it's I think it's uncool and not very
<v Speaker 5>interesting that I don't like modern movies very much.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah. That again, I just want to clean reading that.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I think the fact I'm not proud of the
<v Speaker 5>fact that I don't really like movies very much anymore.
<v Speaker 3>But I but it's how I feel. Fry. You're allowed
<v Speaker 3>to feel that way. No, no, what, No, I don't know.
<v Speaker 3>What do you mean?
<v Speaker 1>You know?
<v Speaker 3>I touch SPAN's fine. I don't know. It's not that.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, you like like what you're doing instead is playing
<v Speaker 2>long j RPGs instead.
<v Speaker 5>Agency Mikey wants to be the drive video games more
<v Speaker 5>for sure.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know.
<v Speaker 5>Part of the problem is maybe it's like an initiation thing.
<v Speaker 5>I just don't initiate movies very often.
<v Speaker 3>That's right. Yeah, you're waiting for her to make the
<v Speaker 3>first movie exactly.
<v Speaker 1>Oh. I didn't realize this was like just general opinions.
<v Speaker 1>I thought it was strictly video games.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, yeah, I was doing video games first. I'd have
<v Speaker 3>to widen it. But I'm not sure. I think. Oh, oh, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>Italian food is not very good. That's wrong. Yeah, I
<v Speaker 3>think that sounds very wrong in people's eyes.
<v Speaker 1>I think are stupid. Oh it's just milk.
<v Speaker 4>We got will Will in the chat, BioShock Infinite is
<v Speaker 4>the best one, he says.
<v Speaker 5>All right, because we were looking at like BioShock stickers
<v Speaker 5>at a pack smooth.
<v Speaker 3>He's like, infinite, that's the one.
<v Speaker 5>And I almost kind of like, I think I's heard
<v Speaker 5>you will just ignore that.
<v Speaker 3>I guess. I guess that hurts me in a way
<v Speaker 3>that like, I just feel like we were ready to
<v Speaker 3>take our the next step in our friendship. You have
<v Speaker 3>to hang out with him soon, yeah, tomorrow, And now
<v Speaker 3>I feel like it just can't get to the place
<v Speaker 3>where it could have got. Like you know, I do
<v Speaker 3>sort of protect that series maybe more than I should
<v Speaker 3>in the first two games.
<v Speaker 6>And it's better than two. It's better than too.
<v Speaker 3>I disagree. I might have to go back.
<v Speaker 2>Can we count the nervous den into because yeah, that's
<v Speaker 2>I think two is better than infinite.
<v Speaker 3>But that's fine. I mean, yeah, I infinite just oh
<v Speaker 3>my lord. I also again not to relet a gate,
<v Speaker 3>but I have like such a weird Ken Levine thing
<v Speaker 3>happened at the beginning of that whole like E three
<v Speaker 3>demo and then me interviewing him and him being like, oh, no,
<v Speaker 3>what you're talking about? It was just annoying.
<v Speaker 5>I seem like a weird guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, damn
<v Speaker 5>his name was Kevin. For a second, I'm like, no,
<v Speaker 5>it's Ken. Kevin's back called back. Yeah enough, Kevin's in
<v Speaker 5>gaming a lot somehow, the wedding Bully.
<v Speaker 3>I'm trying to think of the U the unpopular, Like,
<v Speaker 3>I don't know, I obviously have like a lot of opinions.
<v Speaker 3>I think when it comes to games, you know, I
<v Speaker 3>I just struggle sometimes with like with getting frustrated where
<v Speaker 3>I feel like I'm not doing enough in a game
<v Speaker 3>and a game is doing too much for me, you
<v Speaker 3>know what I mean. And I sometimes struggle with that
<v Speaker 3>agency of being like am I playing this or is
<v Speaker 3>this playing me? Or is this just like a smoke
<v Speaker 3>and mirrors thing? Sure, And I think I get frustrated
<v Speaker 3>there a lot. Sure you do have to make peace
<v Speaker 3>with that, yeah, yeah, right, And you just sort of
<v Speaker 3>have to buy into the illusion sometimes.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, when I'm expressing opinions, I'm sometimes surprised at the
<v Speaker 5>things that like get people were out up, Like when
<v Speaker 5>I was doing the Mario tier. Liss and I did
<v Speaker 5>three D Lan. Don't say anything, Dan and I did
<v Speaker 5>three D Lan like and I put it in like
<v Speaker 5>the middle tier, which it doesn't mean it's a mid
<v Speaker 5>it's just amongst the Mario games, like, yeah, Mario three
<v Speaker 5>D Lan.
<v Speaker 3>Why people like I can't.
<v Speaker 5>Believe you have it that low? I was like, I
<v Speaker 5>didn't know there's these people are carrying a torch for
<v Speaker 5>Super Mario three D Lan.
<v Speaker 3>Many people were discussing ds kids that just grew up.
<v Speaker 6>Yes, yeah, I agree with like all of my opinions.
<v Speaker 1>Because they're your opinion.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, well yeah, you're not ashamed of any of them.
<v Speaker 5>There's nothing you regret, no opinion you regret a little
<v Speaker 5>bit what you're doing.
<v Speaker 6>Mister talking reddit comment.
<v Speaker 3>You could be the walking talking Reddit comment. I know
<v Speaker 3>what do you?
<v Speaker 6>What do you mean?
<v Speaker 3>We don't know what do you mean?
<v Speaker 6>Always Dan, I was arguing before this podcast that, like
<v Speaker 6>the Metric Prime thing, if we were on a ten
<v Speaker 6>point scale, which I do prefer ten point scale, and
<v Speaker 6>maybe I'm just keep creeping it up.
<v Speaker 3>We are on a ten point scale.
<v Speaker 6>Sorry we are sorry ten I'm thinking like a game
<v Speaker 6>in form.
<v Speaker 4>I guess it's a forty point scale, Like if I
<v Speaker 4>was if I reviewed Metrid Prime four for Game Informer,
<v Speaker 4>I would have given that a nine five.
<v Speaker 6>But maybe when you have less to work with sometimes you.
<v Speaker 5>Would have you have to Yeah, I agree, you would
<v Speaker 5>have got significantly less bullshit if it.
<v Speaker 3>Was yeah, A nine point five. Yeah, and me I
<v Speaker 3>almost would have been guys. But Dan alone, I think
<v Speaker 3>nine point five is still five too high, too high.
<v Speaker 2>Because that's one video game for sure, But I mean
<v Speaker 2>nobody would care as.
<v Speaker 1>Much, right gang. Last email of the show Connecticut Heavy
<v Speaker 1>week for the emails, but this comes from Matt from Connecticut.
<v Speaker 3>Hey, Duders.
<v Speaker 1>Most people who watch the NFL are familiar with coaching trees.
<v Speaker 1>Coaching trees are basically when an assistant coach works and
<v Speaker 1>learns under a head coach and then takes what they
<v Speaker 1>learned and applies that to when they eventually become a
<v Speaker 1>head coach. It is essentially a mentorship where the assistant
<v Speaker 1>coach gets their shot at being a head coach and
<v Speaker 1>carry certain philosophies and tendencies from the previous coaches that
<v Speaker 1>they were influenced by. Those new head coaches will have
<v Speaker 1>assistant coaches under them and the tree expands and the
<v Speaker 1>cycle continues. All of you are now seasoned veterans in
<v Speaker 1>games media, except Jan who is a baby and youthful
<v Speaker 1>and exuberant.
<v Speaker 3>So mine doesn't say that, Man, I don't know the
<v Speaker 3>edit didn't come through.
<v Speaker 1>A sorry, maybe we're on a different doc. So what
<v Speaker 1>coaching trees do you hail from? Who were some of
<v Speaker 1>your mentors when you're coming up in the industry and
<v Speaker 1>what philosophy these in tendencies do you learn from?
<v Speaker 3>Uh? From from them that helped shape you today?
<v Speaker 5>Matt from Connecticut, Jeff Grub and I both came up
<v Speaker 5>at a Giant Bomb, which was Dan Shoe and Damie
<v Speaker 5>Lynn Xiant Giant Sorry that mob bet Mob bit moob
<v Speaker 5>which do me things? Bit moob Yeah, which was Damiln
<v Speaker 5>and Dan Chue from the e GM days. Then that
<v Speaker 5>got turned bought by venture Beat, which became games Beat.
<v Speaker 5>And there's also Jason Wilson who was also like an
<v Speaker 5>old magazine guy e g M and was our managing
<v Speaker 5>editor for for a very long time as well. And
<v Speaker 5>you know, we worked with Dean Takahashoes an industry vet
<v Speaker 5>as well. So that's kind of the tree for me.
<v Speaker 3>Those are the branches of me.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, we definitely like all that like like dance shoes
<v Speaker 2>kind of at the top of that tree. Like he
<v Speaker 2>would be the like the Bill Walsh equivalent the West
<v Speaker 2>Coast offense and like if you hear me ever like
<v Speaker 2>espousing a strong opinion about the way people write about
<v Speaker 2>games or the way like the kind of language they use,
<v Speaker 2>or ever make fun of make fun of the cliche.
<v Speaker 3>He's like mixed bag. All that stuff got instilled in
<v Speaker 3>me by dance shit.
<v Speaker 6>Right.
<v Speaker 5>She was like such a big deal to me that
<v Speaker 5>like the moment I realized that he was my boss,
<v Speaker 5>that was like that was like, oh, I made it.
<v Speaker 5>I guess I guess I might actually be able to
<v Speaker 5>do this thing. That's insane, this because like I just
<v Speaker 5>you know, I always knew him. He was in my
<v Speaker 5>magazines forever and then Want to Hop and the.
<v Speaker 3>I mean he made he turned each Give into a
<v Speaker 3>serious magazine. Like here's a big part of that.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, right, So I was like, yeah, it's basically a
<v Speaker 5>superstar to me, and like, now is the person that
<v Speaker 5>I interact with every day.
<v Speaker 3>That's crazy.
<v Speaker 4>I'd say Andy McNamara was my first one because like,
<v Speaker 4>you know, he was there like the first dame and
<v Speaker 4>former I got when I was nine and like in
<v Speaker 4>nineteen ninety three or nineteen ninety four or whatever, So
<v Speaker 4>I think he's probably the first guy I saw.
<v Speaker 6>I was like, oh shit, you can make this your life.
<v Speaker 4>Okay, I should do that entirely, and then working under
<v Speaker 4>him and stuff like that, like very very different styles
<v Speaker 4>and personalities and stuff like that, but like he was
<v Speaker 4>the first person on my radar as someone who could
<v Speaker 4>do this for a living. So I'd say Andy at first,
<v Speaker 4>and then once I came over here and went kind
<v Speaker 4>of all the way in video and podcast stuff is
<v Speaker 4>Gershman and Bennie, I would say.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, I feel like I have a weird learning tree
<v Speaker 1>because I didn't explicitly start out in games media. But
<v Speaker 1>I of course have to give the flowers to the
<v Speaker 1>great Jason A Striker for really teaching me the ins
<v Speaker 1>and outs of like studio production and yeah, like just
<v Speaker 1>doing all the live stuff because it was a completely
<v Speaker 1>different language from me coming from like Morvy, I guess,
<v Speaker 1>like traditional production background, having to deal with streaming and
<v Speaker 1>like that type of tech. So shouts out to Jason
<v Speaker 1>forever and ever and other than that, you know, I
<v Speaker 1>talk about MythBusters a lot, but the production team, that
<v Speaker 1>behind the scenes crew taught me an obscene amount of
<v Speaker 1>everything that I still carry over to this day. And
<v Speaker 1>that's not just the producers, the directors, the other people
<v Speaker 1>on the team, like the camera people of course, but
<v Speaker 1>also the builders in t be practical life skills and
<v Speaker 1>like how to attach a bunch of two by fours
<v Speaker 1>to a top of a truck safely and unsafely too
<v Speaker 1>with some gafter.
<v Speaker 6>I got a shout out too.
<v Speaker 4>It's weird because like he came in like five or
<v Speaker 4>six years after I started, but Ben Hansen, like despite
<v Speaker 4>being younger and coming in later, the amount of shit
<v Speaker 4>I'm just like the way his brain works to come
<v Speaker 4>up with ways to cover games and stuff.
<v Speaker 6>It's just ways that like.
<v Speaker 3>Gaming, mister beast, he just understands the space.
<v Speaker 6>Gets he super gets.
<v Speaker 4>It's endlessly curious, endlessly creative, and just like the amount
<v Speaker 4>of times he tells me stuff even today where I'm like,
<v Speaker 4>holy shit, I've never thought of it that way, Like
<v Speaker 4>I think he's just everything you know about Mario that unfortunately,
<v Speaker 4>but like if we're talking about like outside influences also
<v Speaker 4>one hundred percent, it was like the one up show,
<v Speaker 4>and I guess the team that would eventually become the
<v Speaker 4>Area of five.
<v Speaker 1>Crew just love their style of production when it came
<v Speaker 1>to like shooting game discussions and and what not just
<v Speaker 1>making more cash and all that stuff.
<v Speaker 3>I'm not sure. Yeah, I mean that's how I learned that,
<v Speaker 3>like what a podcast should be.
<v Speaker 1>Absolutely all right, gang, I think it is time for a.
<v Speaker 3>Podcast within a podcast. It's time for grub guessing. Right, yeah, okay,
<v Speaker 3>right right, yes, let's go nice. All right, So I'm
<v Speaker 3>gonna do this.
<v Speaker 2>We'll do the Supercanes half this all right, everybody, Welcome
<v Speaker 2>to Grub guess Er. I'm Jeff Grub. This is the
<v Speaker 2>game where I make my friends Guess what an old
<v Speaker 2>magazine ad is? This time I have. It's set up
<v Speaker 2>this way, everybody. I'm gonna show you a series of
<v Speaker 2>games that are in this one ad. There's a picture
<v Speaker 2>and there's a quick description. What I'm looking for is
<v Speaker 2>which publisher is this ad for. Let's start with this
<v Speaker 2>first one, which is Assault on Everest. This seamless blend
<v Speaker 2>of history and imagination pits you against an intimidating array
<v Speaker 2>of opponents. Ancient that there's periods where there shouldn't be periods.
<v Speaker 2>Just I'm gonna start read in that way. Ancient myths,
<v Speaker 2>lost legends, hidden caves, and the most unforgiving mountain in.
<v Speaker 3>The world, Everest.
<v Speaker 2>Only the fittest will survive to discover the secret of
<v Speaker 2>the unidentified object which has crashed near the summit. And
<v Speaker 2>it's a picture of like a crazy yetty with big
<v Speaker 2>sharp team. If this is does anyone have a guess
<v Speaker 2>at this? So this is not for a game? This
<v Speaker 2>is a This is that the gad is the game itself.
<v Speaker 2>I want you to it's going to be a collection
<v Speaker 2>of games from a single publisher. I want you to
<v Speaker 2>tell me which publisher that this ad is.
<v Speaker 4>Can I get is that game? Can we start with?
<v Speaker 4>Is that Extermination for the PS two? No, that game's
<v Speaker 4>Assault on Everest? So I think that game is Assault
<v Speaker 4>on Everest?
<v Speaker 6>Will can you cut it? So it's just like I
<v Speaker 6>got that right?
<v Speaker 5>Gosh, Like the fact I'd never heard of this game
<v Speaker 5>makes me think it's like some obscure PC game. It's like,
<v Speaker 5>it's like, is this Origin Systems?
<v Speaker 3>This is not Origin Systems? All right?
<v Speaker 2>So I'm gonna get send you guys the next one.
<v Speaker 2>Let's see here hell a cyberpunk thriller. It is like
<v Speaker 2>a picture of a bunch of people falling into a mouth.
<v Speaker 3>That's all read.
<v Speaker 2>That is the picture. I'll read the first line here.
<v Speaker 2>It's been discovered. Who has the power to condemn man
<v Speaker 2>to hell? The government?
<v Speaker 3>Whoa they're committing there after you for committing sins against
<v Speaker 3>the state. All right?
<v Speaker 2>What publisher has put out? That last game, which was
<v Speaker 2>what Assault on Everest? And this one hell a cyberpunk thriller?
<v Speaker 2>Now publisher you guys know by name?
<v Speaker 6>This is some weird PC.
<v Speaker 2>But yeah, like there's nothing to go on. It is
<v Speaker 2>not you be soft right, Like is there a grub?
<v Speaker 2>Is there any sort of like hint layered in here
<v Speaker 2>that not yet? One of the games will make it
<v Speaker 2>a little bit more obvious, But even then I'll be
<v Speaker 2>is it just to touch the price? If you guys
<v Speaker 2>remember who is it Atari? It is not Atari?
<v Speaker 3>Is it interplay? I forgot? This is the reason I'm
<v Speaker 3>wanted to do this one. And it's okay, all right?
<v Speaker 3>This next one? Uh Bill Cosby's Picture Pages what.
<v Speaker 2>From PBS broadcast to a Nickelodeon run of nine years
<v Speaker 2>to over one hundred and ten million Picture pages.
<v Speaker 3>But I don't even know what they're trying to say.
<v Speaker 3>But this is an edutainment game about.
<v Speaker 2>Bill Cosby's picture pages I've never seen, so this is
<v Speaker 2>the reason.
<v Speaker 3>So this is it.
<v Speaker 2>I don't want to see Bill Cosby's picture pages personally.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, all right, do you you guys have a guest?
<v Speaker 3>Is this electronic arts? It is not electronics? Oh oh,
<v Speaker 3>you're doing some Seacrest bullshit here. Okay, I learned from
<v Speaker 3>Rich from of course Regis filmman. Okay, you gotta we
<v Speaker 3>gotta have more hints because now we're just shooting in
<v Speaker 3>the dark here. Okay.
<v Speaker 2>Next one is let's see here, I'm uploading it to
<v Speaker 2>you guys, now, uh yeah, that is right. Okay, Yes,
<v Speaker 2>this one is Star Crusader. The battlefield is outer space,
<v Speaker 2>which is swarming with flying battleships armed with futuristic weapons weaponry.
<v Speaker 2>I still don't think ys will get it from this one.
<v Speaker 2>There's one more after.
<v Speaker 7>We say idast it is not idos Okay, Gosha, because
<v Speaker 7>it's definitely like one of these, like used to be
<v Speaker 7>PC Centric publishers, Sierra.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, I would recognize those. I'll throw it like there
<v Speaker 3>was a game that certainly changed that for them. Yeah, right,
<v Speaker 3>And it's not interplay. You said, right, it is not interplay.
<v Speaker 5>Let's see the last one. Let's see the last one.
<v Speaker 2>All right, This last one is Bureau thirteen. There's a
<v Speaker 2>plot to undermine the government through the manipulation of men
<v Speaker 2>and their machines by paranorm and supernatural phenomena.
<v Speaker 1>I got nothing.
<v Speaker 3>Is this the one that's supposed to help? Yes? No? No,
<v Speaker 3>that supposed to help thirteen? There was a follow up
<v Speaker 3>of sorts to this game in the last handful of years,
<v Speaker 3>the last ten years, ish what it had a different
<v Speaker 3>it had a different brand also attached.
<v Speaker 6>To it, Active Vision.
<v Speaker 3>Oh, I soiled myself us give us more hints outside
<v Speaker 3>of yes, okay.
<v Speaker 2>Here in the middle of the page, in the middle
<v Speaker 2>of the ad is a big word that says interaction.
<v Speaker 6>Okay, okay, interactive.
<v Speaker 4>In action, Sony computer interactive entertainment.
<v Speaker 3>It is not Sony computer computer interact. I like that though,
<v Speaker 3>I like that, though inter your interact interact. It is
<v Speaker 3>not interact. Which what is that? I'm not sure. It's
<v Speaker 3>not Active Vision right right, it's not interplay. It is
<v Speaker 3>for chat. It's not micro pros. Wow. Oh that's too late. Yeah,
<v Speaker 3>clues more clues.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, So, like I said, there was a big game
<v Speaker 2>that changed their fortunes and changed their trajectory. That game
<v Speaker 2>was a big console game that came out the PS
<v Speaker 2>three era, and then uh yeah, and then the Bureau
<v Speaker 2>thirteen game.
<v Speaker 3>Again it's related to a game that came out in
<v Speaker 3>the last few years. Uh. That game is a shooter.
<v Speaker 2>The game it's based on the series it's based on
<v Speaker 2>is a turn based strategy GAMESA.
<v Speaker 4>It is not wait wait were you talking about x
<v Speaker 4>Com with the like shooter the thing two K.
<v Speaker 3>Two? It is take.
<v Speaker 2>Good job, wow, I said, like the last ten years
<v Speaker 2>for Xcom the Bureau all right, yes, that was uh yeah,
<v Speaker 2>XCOMB the Bureau kind of related to this a little bit. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>it's take too interactive. They put out all these games.
<v Speaker 2>I will show you guys the whole ad. I think
<v Speaker 2>that that's why A pre okay.
<v Speaker 4>Us a while, because even like the early GTAs and
<v Speaker 4>stuff that was just like the d m A right, like.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, I want to learn I want to learn more
<v Speaker 5>about how a cyberpunk thriller and.
<v Speaker 2>I really want to play both of those. Those are
<v Speaker 2>the ones I saw on to. I need to play
<v Speaker 2>Hell a cyberpunk thriller.
<v Speaker 3>They're like, Hey, I got a great idea for a
<v Speaker 3>two page spread, let's put a thousand words on it. Yes,
<v Speaker 3>if you don't forget the Cosby. Yeah, uh here it is.
<v Speaker 2>When Take To software enters your computer, you go in
<v Speaker 2>with it, winding your way through hyperreal environments that push
<v Speaker 2>roll plane simulation and edutainment with Bill Cosby beyond known boundaries,
<v Speaker 2>all created by advanced technology that enhanced the experience in
<v Speaker 2>ways you've never seen or felt before. It's a barrage
<v Speaker 2>of entertainment, adventure, and education emerging this fall that will
<v Speaker 2>thrust you into the Take two experience. It starts with interaction.
<v Speaker 2>You'll find there is no end.
<v Speaker 3>So when you said interaction, I thought Take too interactive,
<v Speaker 3>And then I was like, but none of these things
<v Speaker 3>are there. But as soon as x com was in
<v Speaker 3>play Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>Unsurprisingly, how a Cyberpunk Thrower released for DOSS and the
<v Speaker 5>three D zero. Also, it's like one review on Wikipedias
<v Speaker 5>from PC Gamer give it a ninety two.
<v Speaker 3>Jeez what that's crazy.
<v Speaker 5>Although then in nineteen ninety six, Computer Gaming World declared
<v Speaker 5>how a Cyberpunk Thrower the twelfth worst computer game ever released.
<v Speaker 5>So okay, I don't know what's going on, but we
<v Speaker 5>can see this one for ourselves for sure. Right, Oh
<v Speaker 5>my gosh, oh oh I love the way this game looks.
<v Speaker 5>Oh it's oh, this is such. This is very early
<v Speaker 5>computer graphic. It's mostly narrative driven. Oh my god. Kind
<v Speaker 5>of a point quick adventure game. I think, yes, it's
<v Speaker 5>appointment adventure game.
<v Speaker 3>Oh my god. Hey, it could be a blighting round
<v Speaker 3>and it's a long play on. I'd be good.
<v Speaker 2>It could be good. That was Grub guesser. Thanks for playing.
<v Speaker 3>Everybody's good.
<v Speaker 1>Good one, good one, Thank you, Jeff Grub, Mike Minatti,
<v Speaker 1>we're not done with the show. Hit me with some
<v Speaker 1>YouTube super chats, baby, Yes, what's second? What the hell's
<v Speaker 1>Assault on Everest?
<v Speaker 3>I don't know. Let me look at that one too,
<v Speaker 3>Assault on Everest with you.
<v Speaker 5>I can't even find it on you. I looked at
<v Speaker 5>over Assault on Everest game. I got like documentaries and
<v Speaker 5>a place for Everest VR.
<v Speaker 3>Ever V.
<v Speaker 6>For PS two.
<v Speaker 5>Eventually, maybe it never came out, all right, more researchers,
<v Speaker 5>give you require there?
<v Speaker 3>All right?
<v Speaker 5>Uh, let's see her now, super chats first one here
<v Speaker 5>They all immediately disp here at one, I moved the
<v Speaker 5>tabs and A didn't.
<v Speaker 3>Like that from Geo.
<v Speaker 5>Vaughn In Diaz says, what should you shooters Bears Week,
<v Speaker 5>Pragmata or mouse p. I assume it's funny that I
<v Speaker 5>guess these are in the same genre somew but yeah, uh, Mike,
<v Speaker 5>miss bought Army, says Jans j O Y Mike and
<v Speaker 5>Mary's pep series. You released Jeff's Endurance Run and I'm
<v Speaker 5>headed straight to Brainforest Cafe dingus.
<v Speaker 3>You got us.
<v Speaker 5>I'll be porn, says when Pat McAfee and r F
<v Speaker 5>K Junior, cost Cody and mister rold about at me,
<v Speaker 5>then the camera pans to doing they dance in the crowd.
<v Speaker 4>No, I'm gonna be I'm gonna be laughing and shaking
<v Speaker 4>my head in the press box.
<v Speaker 3>It would be incredible. I want that shot so bad.
<v Speaker 1>Comes to the press box and a whole.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, don't be rude photo Decos office is happy thirty
<v Speaker 5>fan versary to steam PAMs that episode of The Simpsons
<v Speaker 5>air today nineteen. I did see that, uh man, even
<v Speaker 5>back then, I thought that was like the funniest thing
<v Speaker 5>that alights fan.
<v Speaker 4>But that entire episode of the twenty two short films
<v Speaker 4>about Springfield was so fucking funny. I like the fiction
<v Speaker 4>parody with wighams Man.
<v Speaker 6>I love that one.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, some folks will never eat a skunk, but then
<v Speaker 5>again some focal Yeah it's incredible. Zombie porn Back says
<v Speaker 5>is scumbag Jan a top tier Jan. He's great in
<v Speaker 5>my opinion, don't encourage him. Blackout two one one says
<v Speaker 5>I'm paying money to remind Giant Bomb to play mister
<v Speaker 5>sleepy Man.
<v Speaker 3>I started that. I need to go back to play.
<v Speaker 4>Some weird voices going on in that game I started it. Yeah,
<v Speaker 4>I like the vibe of it so far. Dirty Rty
<v Speaker 4>says Grub What joke were you referring to? From their
<v Speaker 4>faun of the band? The show the mopial all times?
<v Speaker 4>Thank you for your time. I'm gonna get spoilery. When
<v Speaker 4>he sees the hangover.
<v Speaker 3>Okay, yes, when he sees the hangover and he gets
<v Speaker 3>what that means.
<v Speaker 2>Yes, he understood the story, Yes, the implications up the hand.
<v Speaker 6>You eventually saw it? Yeah, okay, so you did you
<v Speaker 6>like it?
<v Speaker 3>I love it? Okay, fantastical? Am I good? You're good?
<v Speaker 3>All right?
<v Speaker 6>I'm back it wasn't spoilery anyway.
<v Speaker 5>I want to see that movie. Actually, movies are mid wait.
<v Speaker 6>I watched The Hangover first. Then you know, you do
<v Speaker 6>not know? Is all within the context of the movie.
<v Speaker 3>It's important to the story, so that's why they can
<v Speaker 3>use it.
<v Speaker 5>Okay, Creo Rock who says, damn does Kansas have beef
<v Speaker 5>with any of the surrounding states?
<v Speaker 3>The way New York and.
<v Speaker 5>New Jersey, Jesus Christ, the Ohioans and jam oh the
<v Speaker 5>free state Kansas versus the slavers in Missouri that kept
<v Speaker 5>coming over and burning down Lawrence and uh look up
<v Speaker 5>John Brown, the abolitionists and like, oh yeah, Kansas and
<v Speaker 5>Missouri are like a my friend Lebby would like we
<v Speaker 5>would go down to Mass Street and if like Missoo
<v Speaker 5>is in town, the Tigers were in town for a game,
<v Speaker 5>and she would.
<v Speaker 4>Like see a family wearing Missoo Tiger shirts. She would
<v Speaker 4>get in their fucking face and scream out him and
<v Speaker 4>call them slavers and like fucking like, I'm gonna go
<v Speaker 4>back to fucking Missouri pieces of shit in front of
<v Speaker 4>like four year olds and stuff.
<v Speaker 6>It was crazy. Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, that will major
<v Speaker 6>beef with Missouri.
<v Speaker 3>Yes.
<v Speaker 5>Uh, I mean I'm like right on the Ohio Pennsylvania border,
<v Speaker 5>which is weird because you know, I practically live in Pennsylvania.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, there's like a ton of like, oh, they don't
<v Speaker 5>know how to drive in Pa. If you see someone's
<v Speaker 5>like the Plis Playeds, like look out, they're gonna kill you.
<v Speaker 3>Right.
<v Speaker 5>And then sports is the thing, even though a lot
<v Speaker 5>a lot of people here are Steelers fans, so it's
<v Speaker 5>all constant Steelers versus Browns fans things.
<v Speaker 3>Yes, sports teams don't usually honor state boarders all the time, right,
<v Speaker 3>I mean yeah.
<v Speaker 2>On the border, it gets weird because like I was
<v Speaker 2>in Toledo a little bit ago, and that's tweeted Ohio.
<v Speaker 2>Everyone there is Alliance fan because they got Detroit TV
<v Speaker 2>instead of like Cleveland TV.
<v Speaker 3>Yeah, oftentimes that dictates the Allegiance, right.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, Toledo's superquast. We'll go ahead.
<v Speaker 1>Jan I was gonna say, California just has beef with itself,
<v Speaker 1>sure right yeah.
<v Speaker 5>Yeah, sure, Morphan South Yeah, uh Cono Nkosamma says Monkey
<v Speaker 5>Paw curls. Dan gets everyone on Giant Bomb and the
<v Speaker 5>Milger Saw movie, but only as various versions of the
<v Speaker 5>guy who ships himself. Your names will be in the crass.
<v Speaker 5>I think Dan would be completely fine with that.
<v Speaker 6>I would have no.
<v Speaker 4>Higher honor than if they made me Johnny Sasaki, the
