<v Speaker 2>that WW went head to head with.
<v Speaker 3>W oh Yeah, and there is some head to head

<v Speaker 2>Oh, I mean the the stuff that's on tap here
<v Speaker 2>is fantastic, directly competiating with Monday Night Raw here is Nitro.
<v Speaker 2>But before we get into that, let's take a look
<v Speaker 2>at what was going on with water Wrestling at the
<v Speaker 2>time with the Wrestling Observer newsletter. Take it away, James,
<v Speaker 2>I bet Vader's not here. Vader was here, James, but
<v Speaker 2>from The Observer September eleventh, nineteen ninety five. A backstage
<v Speaker 2>brawl between Vader and Paul Orndorf apparently led to renewed
<v Speaker 2>negotiation that resulted in Lex Luger shockingly walking onto the
<v Speaker 2>set for the debut program of WB Monday Nitro on
<v Speaker 2>September fourth to set up a title match with Hulk
<v Speaker 2>Hogan on the September eleventh show. So there's a mix
<v Speaker 2>of things here. I'll talk about some Luger things because
<v Speaker 2>that just happened, and some Vader things which I was
<v Speaker 2>trying to figure it out during the show. Did you know,
<v Speaker 2>James or Tony when they were saying that Vader was
<v Speaker 2>not a part of Hogan seam anymore, that it was
<v Speaker 2>because of this or did you have a guess I
<v Speaker 2>swear we've talked about it before on the show we have,
<v Speaker 2>and it might have been when we talked about the
<v Speaker 2>First Nitro. Yeah, so that's what I remembered. Yeah, oh sure, okay, okay.
<v Speaker 2>The Luger deal with WW had fallen apart a few
<v Speaker 2>weeks back over money. WW was only well and offer
<v Speaker 2>him one thousand dollars per night with no guarantee of
<v Speaker 2>a number of days per year, but apparently was put
<v Speaker 2>back together when the future of Vader and WW became
<v Speaker 2>cloudy after a brawl at center stage the day prior
<v Speaker 2>to a television taping with WW book and committee member
<v Speaker 2>Paul Orndorf. Vader's future in WCW was still not determined
<v Speaker 2>as of Tuesday morning. WCIT had counted on doing an
<v Speaker 2>angle at the First Nitro to set up a surprise
<v Speaker 2>Hogan versus Vader WCW title match for September eleventh, and
<v Speaker 2>there was even talks of Vader winning the title on
<v Speaker 2>that show. Ooh yeah, So that's pretty crazy that instead
<v Speaker 2>of what we got here, it could have been Vader
<v Speaker 2>versus Hogan for the belts and Vader winning the title.
<v Speaker 2>So onto Vader and Paul Orndorf, the Paul Orndorf in Vader.
<v Speaker 2>Situation took Placednesday afternoon, several hours before the television taping
<v Speaker 2>at Center Stage. Vader, who according this is a long
<v Speaker 2>fucking report, by the way, so stick with me here. Vader,
<v Speaker 2>according to one report, had arrived late at the building
<v Speaker 2>and was told by Paul Orndorf that they wanted him
<v Speaker 2>out for interviews with Gene Oakland. It should be noticed,
<v Speaker 2>for whatever reason, there was prior heat between the two
<v Speaker 2>before this took place. Vader was taking his time, and
<v Speaker 2>Paul Orndorf started yelling at him, not much as a
<v Speaker 2>bad way, as a way that one would figure a
<v Speaker 2>high school football coach yelling at a player, which I
<v Speaker 2>mean Vader was late, so you know, you get get
<v Speaker 2>let's fucking go.
<v Speaker 3>By the hell up, we gotta do these promos.
<v Speaker 2>WIB officials were saying that if they didn't hurry up
<v Speaker 2>and finish the interviews, they'd have to pay dinner for
<v Speaker 2>the crew because they were already behind schedule. Vader growled
<v Speaker 2>at Paul Orndorf at this point. According to eyewitness reports,
<v Speaker 2>Vader and Orndorf traded words, which turned into a cussing contest.
<v Speaker 2>We talked about them because I remember Jim saying they
<v Speaker 2>were saying shit and fuck back age time and grew
<v Speaker 2>more heated for several minutes, at which point or Door
<v Speaker 2>repeatedly reportedly repeatedly also probably called Vader a fat prima donna.
<v Speaker 2>By this point, we're swearing at each other chest to chest,
<v Speaker 2>when reportedly Orndorf told Vader to make his move. After
<v Speaker 2>more of a chest to chest swearing contest, Vader threw
<v Speaker 2>a palm blow to the chest, which knocked Orndorf down
<v Speaker 2>and went to tackle Vader. And while this was going on,
<v Speaker 2>the other wrestlers largely did what was described as a
<v Speaker 2>pathetic pull apart with everyone around. Orndorf threw a perfect
<v Speaker 2>left with it, which is his weak arm. Meltzer notes
<v Speaker 2>here in Vader's head nerved damage. It was he was
<v Speaker 2>able to knock Vader silly here with Vader hitting the
<v Speaker 2>deck at this point, Orndorf threw a kick after kick
<v Speaker 2>at the stunned Vader's face while Vader tried to cover
<v Speaker 2>up in the fetal position on the ground before it
<v Speaker 2>was broken up. Orndorf was wearing sandals, so it minimized
<v Speaker 2>the damage. Vader's face was a mess at this point,
<v Speaker 2>with both eyes puffed up from the kicks and a
<v Speaker 2>bloody lip. Damn, Worndorf had been wearing cowboy boots, the
<v Speaker 2>potential damage could have been very serious, which I mean, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>I mean he could have been wearing guns for Vader
<v Speaker 2>was stunned on the ground for several minutes before he
<v Speaker 2>finally got his bearings together. When he finally recovered, he
<v Speaker 2>went to the office that Orndorf was in and the
<v Speaker 2>two started arguing again and started fighting again. This time
<v Speaker 2>they traded punches, with Orndorf coming back out of it
<v Speaker 2>with a black guy and a bloody lip in Vader,
<v Speaker 2>who went into the room with a messed up face,
<v Speaker 2>came out even messier before the two separated again. At
<v Speaker 2>this point, Vader was sent home and pulled from the taping. Orndorf,
<v Speaker 2>with a black guy, worked a schedule squash match at
<v Speaker 2>the taping with Barry Houston, because fuck Berry. If Thorndorf's
<v Speaker 2>gonna do anything on even on his deathbed, he will
<v Speaker 2>Barry a job.
<v Speaker 3>Wow, dude, how did they have such a detailed account
<v Speaker 3>of all of this?
<v Speaker 2>I don't I mean, there must have been a guide
<v Speaker 2>backstage that would love if you field his potatoes. Does

<v Speaker 2>Ian Rotten has gone apparently quitting on August twenty eighth
<v Speaker 2>over his weekend payoffs, which was said to be three
<v Speaker 2>hundred and fifty for three shots. Ian Rotten would then
<v Speaker 2>go on to punish everyone that's ever worked for him
<v Speaker 2>like that prize from The Observer September eighteenth, ninety ninety five.
<v Speaker 2>After months of hype, the first head to head meeting
<v Speaker 2>between WCW Nitro and WBF Monday Night Raw on September
<v Speaker 2>eleventh turn into something of a double disappointment as far
<v Speaker 2>as the shows were concerned, but a clear cut victory
<v Speaker 2>for WCW in the ratings war. So that's of course
<v Speaker 2>the show we're talking about tonight. W CW Nitro in
<v Speaker 2>the first head to head meeting Dreid two point five
<v Speaker 2>Monday Night Rawl did a two point two The number
<v Speaker 2>of people watching wrestling during that one hour time slot
<v Speaker 2>was the largest for any one hour segment since the
<v Speaker 2>Hogan Flair match of the Clash last year, and largest
<v Speaker 2>by any Monday Night in years. Also, Nitro was a
<v Speaker 2>huge letdown after the great job that was done the
<v Speaker 2>previous week of pushing the show. The show drew three
<v Speaker 2>one hundred and eighty three fans that paid twenty eight
<v Speaker 2>thousand dollars, but with the paper was a sellout of
<v Speaker 2>more than fifty five hundred. The hal Coke and Luger
<v Speaker 2>match Match of the Century turned out to be a
<v Speaker 2>one star match. Smounts his words, not mine. Both groups
<v Speaker 2>were taking different approaches to the head to head. WBF
<v Speaker 2>ignored that there was any competition, including not even really
<v Speaker 2>beefing its show up over the weekend. They made no
<v Speaker 2>mention of Luger, including ending all references to him and
<v Speaker 2>all things involving him off of every television show, but
<v Speaker 2>throughout the weekend hyperrawl more than ever. Ww immediately opened
<v Speaker 2>announcing that Big Van Vader won't be on the pay
<v Speaker 2>per view. He was officially suspended for the Orndorf incident
<v Speaker 2>and what his future with the company is right now
<v Speaker 2>is unknown, but the consensus seems to be that if
<v Speaker 2>they can get rid of him, they will. Vader has
<v Speaker 2>a contract through the end of March of ninety nine
<v Speaker 2>at approximately seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars per year,
<v Speaker 2>and obviously doesn't want to blow the deal and has
<v Speaker 2>apologized to everyone, and WW also has sent a ceas
<v Speaker 2>and assist letter at WF claiming Vader is under contract
<v Speaker 2>and that any contact with him they would consider tampering.
<v Speaker 2>And I went back at the time Machine and I
<v Speaker 2>also contacted WF, and I said, if you fucking signed Vader,
<v Speaker 2>I'll fucking beat the shit out of you. Don't do that.
<v Speaker 2>Whatever you're gonna do.
<v Speaker 3>It's a bad idea. Don't do that.
<v Speaker 4>Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>Jim Helwig canceled his September twenty ninth in September thirtieth
<v Speaker 2>dates in Massachusetts on an NB because he was mad
<v Speaker 2>when he saw Renegade on television copying him. Because promoter
<v Speaker 2>Wendell Weatherb was the one who put WW in contact
<v Speaker 2>with Rick Williams to do the Ultimate Warrior gimmick. Elwig
<v Speaker 2>and weather B had a long time relationship, dating back
<v Speaker 2>to when weather B was Helwig's limo driver in the WF,
<v Speaker 2>but Helwigs said the relationship was over after having seen
<v Speaker 2>Renegade on TV. Others find it hard to believe that
<v Speaker 2>Hellwig had never seen Renegade before because he was in
<v Speaker 2>LA negotiating with WW on July sixteenth, and Renegade worked
<v Speaker 2>that pay per view show.
<v Speaker 3>He didn't like the renegade, so he didn't dig his
<v Speaker 3>indie bookings.
<v Speaker 2>What run against even on the indie show.
<v Speaker 3>No, he's it's not like there's another warrior in the
<v Speaker 3>locker room. It's like this was one warrior.
<v Speaker 2>Nation fifty two fucking warriors.

<v Speaker 2>Last couple of things here from The Observer, September twenty fifth,
<v Speaker 2>nineteen ninety five. WW fired Steve Austin on September fifteenth.
<v Speaker 3>Yes nothing.
<v Speaker 2>So. Austin, thirty years old, was considered for years as
<v Speaker 2>perhaps the best young wrestler in the US. Meltzer says
<v Speaker 2>his career languished for the past year, almost to the
<v Speaker 2>point where he was spoken of, like his former tag
<v Speaker 2>partner Brian Pillman, as wrestler who had made a lot
<v Speaker 2>of money by signing good contracts, but had great careers
<v Speaker 2>ruined by a WW organization that had been both unwilling
<v Speaker 2>and unable to get any wrestlers over. Austin had been
<v Speaker 2>in the doghouse at all galt with WCW management over
<v Speaker 2>the past year over a reputation for not exactly keeping
<v Speaker 2>quiet with his discontent about how he was used, and
<v Speaker 2>for those involved in cost cutting seeing the two hundred
<v Speaker 2>thousand dollars or so figure he was earning per year
<v Speaker 2>while not being involved in any significant programs as wasted money.
<v Speaker 2>Austin tour his TRISAP in New Japan and June and
<v Speaker 2>has been an out of action since and was believed
<v Speaker 2>to be about six weeks from being ready to return
<v Speaker 2>when he was fired. This, of course, paints WCW as
<v Speaker 2>a real class organization for a firingar guy while injured.
<v Speaker 2>When he suffered the injury on tour, the company sent
<v Speaker 2>him on. Austin's main problem appeared to be the clickish
<v Speaker 2>nature of WCW. He didn't hang with the right crowd.
<v Speaker 2>When the Hogan Camp got into power, they dismissed Austin
<v Speaker 2>as a highly paid wrestler who was a good worker
<v Speaker 2>with no charisma, and in their view of wrestling, work
<v Speaker 2>rate meant next to nothing. The Hogan Click basically consisted
<v Speaker 2>of wwffors from the mid eighties when wrestling was hot,
<v Speaker 2>and thus could dismiss any wrestler who came along later
<v Speaker 2>as being quote unquote unable to draw money. He wasn't
<v Speaker 2>in the Flare click either, so nobody he spoke up
<v Speaker 2>for his work rate on the inside. Damn stone Cold Sorry,
