I keep everybody keeps asking even though there's a lot of recruiting.

00:01:09
Speaker 4: People ask about Drew. We don't. We don't have any news.

00:01:12
Speaker 5: Uh.

00:01:12
Speaker 3: I when I was gonna say, when we have news, we'll be the first to say if that's actually not true, Drew will be the first to say.

00:01:19
Speaker 4: I'm not gonna I'm not trying to break.

00:01:21
Speaker 2: Baby out, scoop him on his own kid.

00:01:24
Speaker 3: Yeah, sources say, baby, Yeah, I don't know that we need to do that.

00:01:31
Speaker 6: I texted in this morning, didn't get a reply. Yeah, Well it's okay. He's got things to you.

00:01:38
Speaker 3: They don't have to communicate with you in the moment, so we will. We will let you know. Shannon is here as well, and we got a lot of stuff to get to. The citizens of Lexington got their collective.

00:01:54
Speaker 4: Well, I don't know how else to say this.

00:01:56
Speaker 3: Panties in a wad yesterday in a city meeting, which I want to talk about. And if I know, how do you when do you find out if these things happen? I would have gone the people with Chevy Chase. Apparently the hoity toities were all upset yesterday.

00:02:12
Speaker 6: They don't send that an alert like I would liked alert.

00:02:15
Speaker 3: There could be community dramas so that I could go.

00:02:18
Speaker 2: Were you a part of the community.

00:02:20
Speaker 4: No, but I would still like to go watch it.

00:02:22
Speaker 3: They don't want their public their public meetings, and we need to let people know.

00:02:26
Speaker 6: The other don't publicize it to keep the crowds down.

00:02:29
Speaker 4: They read stories about it.

00:02:31
Speaker 3: I'd like to because I wasn't there, so I'd like to, you know, hear what people said. But we'll get to that. I think we have to start with the magical day of visits. Yesterday, Tyron Stokes and Rob Wright were here. Tyron Stokes was here all day. Rob Wright, I think came at five or six o'clock. He landed at five. They were here together for a while, you know. I mean, at this point in my life, it is kind of strange to be like, hey, they're eighteen year old and twenty year old kids on visits.

00:03:09
Speaker 4: Shannon, what's going on?

00:03:10
Speaker 3: Right? But that's how fans are. And Tyron Stokes had lunch at Carsons. This is now twice. If we don't get Tyron Stokes, I think we got to find another restaurant. Just like Keenlan, I love Carsons, I take my parents to Carsons.

00:03:25
Speaker 6: Love Carsons.

00:03:26
Speaker 3: But Shannon, we can't if we don't get Zoom or Tyron for Carson's lunch. We might've tried a different lunch spot.

00:03:33
Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, we're blaming it on them. It's your fault.

00:03:35
Speaker 3: Yes, it's gotta blame it on somebody, on me most.

00:03:39
Speaker 6: Of the time.

00:03:39
Speaker 3: So now we can go to Keenland and and and Carsons. I'm not sure what they did after last night. As I was going for my walk, I got an alert Tyron Stokes was live on Instagram and he was at Rupp Arena shooting on Instagram with highlights with Tom Leech meeting narrating being played while.

00:04:03
Speaker 6: He was doing it. Yeah, do you like that?

00:04:05
Speaker 4: Love it?

00:04:06
Speaker 6: Absolutely? Love that. I think obviously have to kind of pre set up by the UK, had the highlight package going. But you kind of just feel like for Stokes as a you know, even as an eighteen year old kid, you gotta be excited to shoot some hoops and Ropp Arena even for a little bit, don't you.

00:04:19
Speaker 4: I would think so.

00:04:20
Speaker 3: I mean that's the advantage that like Duke and Kansas and those teams with an on campus arenas, that's probably an easy thing to set up.

00:04:27
Speaker 4: Huh Rup, It's a whole ordeal. It is right, they would have to.

00:04:30
Speaker 3: I mean, if you think about what goes into him doing that, that's a lot. They have to put the basketball court down, right, because wasn't like who was in.

00:04:40
Speaker 6: It was like Burtiser was just there this past.

00:04:42
Speaker 4: Shannon, I can't deal with Burt Kreischer just but for the record.

00:04:46
Speaker 3: His whole shirt off, right, his whole act is he takes his shirt off, right?

00:04:50
Speaker 2: I think?

00:04:50
Speaker 4: So is he ever funny?

00:04:53
Speaker 2: I've never really seen anything that he did that was funny.

00:04:55
Speaker 4: Here's what's funny.

00:04:57
Speaker 3: Oh, I know he does a podcast. I don't know that I've ever heard him make a joke on the podcast on anything. It's just like, as soon as I see him his shirts off. So for people who come, did they pay money Channing just to see him take his shirt?

00:05:14
Speaker 2: And so I think Ryan's got a missed opportunity here for a career.

00:05:17
Speaker 4: He beats right, and he beat Ryan at his.

00:05:20
Speaker 2: Game tray he kind of did.

00:05:22
Speaker 4: And when he takes his.

00:05:23
Speaker 3: Shirt off, like he's kind of fat chatting. But it's not like it's not like you would just crack.

00:05:30
Speaker 2: Up fat No, it's like, you know, it's a little bit of a dad bod, which I guess he's trying to show off going on.

00:05:37
Speaker 4: I really don't.

00:05:38
Speaker 3: Anyway, point is, he was here just tear this weekend, so they had to clearly take that stage out, put in a basketball court, set up the goals, which had to be specific for this because they won't be using them again, presumably until October.

00:05:52
Speaker 6: Sure, lets you're going to leave it out for Rob Wright to shoot on today. Maybe leave it out for a couple of days.

00:05:56
Speaker 7: Yeah.

00:05:56
Speaker 3: So, anyway, I watched that. It was mesmerizing for a about a minute or two. He I like, you know, this is the number one player in the country, one of the top recruits of the last decade, and yet and he still only shoots half court shots.

00:06:09
Speaker 4: Like he's like all these a kid, Yeah he is.

00:06:12
Speaker 5: You know.

00:06:12
Speaker 3: You gotta remember we talk about all these people and they are ultimately kid.

00:06:17
Speaker 6: Uh huh.

00:06:17
Speaker 4: Because he gets out there and he's like, all right, I'm gonna shoot half court shot.

00:06:20
Speaker 2: That's what I would have done at eighteen.

00:06:22
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:06:22
Speaker 4: I mean, you're not gonna work on drills.

00:06:24
Speaker 2: No, No, I'm not gonna do a layup line.

00:06:25
Speaker 4: You're just gonna maybe you're dunk.

00:06:28
Speaker 2: Maybe.

00:06:28
Speaker 3: I think he dunked once or twice. Yeah, but I stopped watching. I actually got kind of bored.

00:06:33
Speaker 4: But he was on there for a while, went live so people could see.

00:06:36
Speaker 6: It, and maybe I've missed it. I've not known Kentucky to do that in the past.

00:06:40
Speaker 3: I don't know of them doing it now. That doesn't mean they've never done it, but I don't know of it.

00:06:45
Speaker 6: I don't either.

00:06:46
Speaker 3: I think it seems like a, you know, a pretty cool idea. And then this morning got a text message on the text machine from someone who was at the airport. We've had good airport spotters.

00:06:58
Speaker 6: Real good airport spot Matt and crew.

00:07:00
Speaker 3: This morning I arrived at the airport when Tyron Stokes was being dropped off.

00:07:03
Speaker 4: I was shocked.

00:07:04
Speaker 3: He wasn't in a limo, escalade or large vehicle. He wasn't accompanied by the coaches. He got dropped off by guy to beat up Blue Kiya.

00:07:14
Speaker 2: Well.

00:07:14
Speaker 3: I said hi to him and asked him if he had a good day in Kentucky yesterday. He said yeah, with not much expression. I then followed up, when we are glad you came and hope you come back. He nodded and put his head over the head. I'm interesting enough, I'm flying to Denver and then he said he was on that guy Stokes was on his way to Denver too. Now, the reason a coach didn't accompany him for the record is you can't do pick up drop off on unofficial visits. So the coaches actually would not be allowed to because he didn't already did.

00:07:42
Speaker 4: His official visit.

00:07:43
Speaker 6: He's got like a manager or somebody.

00:07:45
Speaker 4: I mean, I might have win. Maybe we ordered the Uber tried not to get a Kia.

00:07:51
Speaker 2: Yeah, those are like an upscale Uber. You can order it.

00:07:54
Speaker 4: There's Uber black Yeah, in Uber Excel.

00:07:57
Speaker 6: He is six seven right, Yeah, I don't know about the key.

00:08:01
Speaker 3: It feels like if we're allowed to at least it was blue. I don't know if we just send them off in a Kia, a beat up I would have driven, not a great lasting impress.

00:08:16
Speaker 6: They could have called you. You could have come picked up your new car. It's clean.

00:08:19
Speaker 3: At this moment, we go take advantage. But so, yeah, the blue keya maybe not to send away we were looking for. But besides that, hopefully it went well. Now, this morning, Kristin Peak was on the Tom Leach Show. Right, Shannon, you produced.

00:08:36
Speaker 4: This Tom lead show.

00:08:38
Speaker 3: So we heard some things online about what she said. What what did you get the gist of what she said? Kristin Peak, for people who don't know, is the NBA dot com reporter who's had all the Tyrn Stokes scoop here recently.

00:08:51
Speaker 2: What she was saying is that he's selling off as Adidas stuff that he got from other schools.

00:08:57
Speaker 3: Yeah, so when he went to she said, he hates Adidas clothes and shoes.

00:09:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, I like Kentucky being a Nike school. You think that it doesn't matter that much, but it does to these players.

00:09:09
Speaker 4: And Tyrontin and Kansas is in Adidas.

00:09:11
Speaker 2: Right, so and also being in Rupperena getting some shots up, maybe trying to fill the vibe, be comfortable.

00:09:17
Speaker 4: That's a good one.

00:09:17
Speaker 3: But she also said that he was going to take two weeks, right, Yeah, he's taking the Donald Trump everything is two weeks away view.

00:09:25
Speaker 6: Yeah, she doesn't like for his far Kentucky fans concerned. You can rest It'll all be over in a couple of weeks.

00:09:30
Speaker 3: A couple of weeks, yeah, which gets to I think the main question, can Kentucky wait a couple of weeks? This is a common thread that comes in recruiting all the time. Here is exactly what I've seen happen for the last twenty years, and it probably happened the twenty years before. I just wasn't following it as closely in last twenty years. A top recruit comes, visits or whatever, and then people say something to the effect of.

00:10:00
Speaker 4: Well, we got to move on. You know this person, We can't wait them.

00:10:05
Speaker 3: Yeah, And inevitably my answer to that question is always why no, we don't.

00:10:15
Speaker 4: But I don't know about this year.

00:10:17
Speaker 3: This year might be a little different because this is a very unique situation. It's not just saving a roster spot for him. If it was just saving a roster spot for him, you do it, sure, and you wait as long as you need to. But in this case, they're saving five six million dollars and it has to be used by someone. And if it's not used by him, it's got to be used by somebody. And if you wait a long time and then don't get him, the other people you would spend this money on may have found another opportunity. Are committed to somebody else because there are other people offering them money. Yes, right, maybe a similar amount of money.

00:11:04
Speaker 2: And he needs good players.

00:11:07
Speaker 3: Mark Pope and Tyron Stokes is a great player, but there are other good players out there and he needs some of them.

00:11:15
Speaker 4: So what do you do?

00:11:17
Speaker 3: What do you do if you're Mark Pope and the kid let's just say Kristen Peak is right and the kid needs two weeks, what do.

00:11:27
Speaker 4: You do.

00:11:29
Speaker 6: In pope situation? This is just my opinion. He's the number one player in the country. You need to make some sort of splash. I think that may be the one time you might wait on on a kid. It might be him, But then what do you do if in two weeks he picks Kansas.

00:11:43
Speaker 2: Now you're gonna make five or six million dollars spend month.

00:11:47
Speaker 3: But there may be nobody left. I would say most of the great players from the portal will be gone by two weeks. Maybe not all, but most.

00:11:57
Speaker 6: And what if, like Rob Wright says, man and I need to take a couple more visits, you got to wait on him.

00:12:02
Speaker 4: To I know.

00:12:05
Speaker 3: Their hope was that at the end of today, because Right is still on campus. Yeah, they would know, and there's obviously still chances they could know. I mean, I think they wanted to know on both or at least have enough of a sense on Stokes if it was worth waiting. I know they want to get Right done today. I feel like, if if Right does not commit by the time we do this show tomorrow, that's a bad sign. It might be because they want to get him and him not go anywhere else. So I would think, you gotta want to have this today. Other people are even suggesting that, like it was all but done and he was just coming here to make sure he didn't hate it. That's good info, but that means we got like if we get here tomorrow and we don't have it, then you start to get nervous.

00:13:03
Speaker 6: See that's good you say that. That was my worry that he would have come in and say, man, you're my first visit. I still got to take a couple more visits.

00:13:08
Speaker 3: Oh he might, but I would not interpret that as a good sign. If he does that, I would interpret that as a bad sign. And I also know they had all they've got all these visits set up, but a lot of them were like.

00:13:22
Speaker 4: If Stokes and Right were to commit, they might cancel something.

00:13:25
Speaker 6: Huh. Yeah, there were like a lot of backup plans to seem.

00:13:28
Speaker 3: Like, but if the backup plans become the primary plans you know.

00:13:32
Speaker 4: Then you might not be able to take. So I actually don't envy Pope here.

00:13:36
Speaker 6: This is a tough chief navigation on a make or break season for him.

00:13:41
Speaker 3: I think Stokes has They've always hoped. I think they've always had more hope than the fans and the general public have had. I think UK has always believed they have a much better chance than probably joke you public thought. But now the rubber meets the road, and he left, and that staff is probably meeting today and they're gonna decide do we feel like we got enough of a shot. And only they know? I mean they were with him, right, we weren't. We're guessing. They might be guessing too, but they're educated guessing.

00:14:21
Speaker 4: So we'll see.

00:14:22
Speaker 3: Jeff Goodman yesterday still said he felt like Kansas was a heavy favorite.

00:14:26
Speaker 4: But I don't know that Jeff Goodman knows. I'm not sure anyone knows.

00:14:30
Speaker 6: This kid is.

00:14:30
Speaker 4: I give him credit.

00:14:31
Speaker 3: He's one of the few kids in history who's really kept it close to the vest.

00:14:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, nobody knows.

00:14:37
Speaker 6: The only leaks were coming from that.

00:14:38
Speaker 3: I don't think there are any leaks. I think she interviewed him, but did she know him before this.

00:14:45
Speaker 6: I don't know, you know, I don't know.

00:14:49
Speaker 3: Maybe she did, did she say does she have some sort of relationship with the family or anything?

00:14:53
Speaker 8: Sit.

00:14:55
Speaker 4: Yeah, So I just think like.

00:14:57
Speaker 6: Mo Williams has the relationship with his people, and.

00:15:00
Speaker 3: Maybe Moe Williams will maybe here's what I hope Mark Pope did or Moe Williams. Listen, man, if you ain't gonna come here, just let us know.

00:15:11
Speaker 4: But we'll see.

00:15:12
Speaker 3: I do think Rob Bright today is crucial. I think if if if Rob Bright leaves here and very soon after there's not a commitment, that ain't a great sign, and we may be looking at a lot.

00:15:25
Speaker 4: Of backup options.

00:15:26
Speaker 3: One of the great things about getting everybody excited about these the banners, everybody taking pictures, all that is it was awesome yesterday and we'll talk more about it. But a downside is if you get everybody's hopes up shinned and it doesn't.

00:15:38
Speaker 2: Happen, Yeah, that's that's gonna be the worst part.

00:15:40
Speaker 4: So we'll see. We'll see.

00:15:42
Speaker 3: If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, we'll take a break. We'll talk more about what happened yesterday, uh, and some other stuff.

00:15:49
Speaker 4: It's KSR. Welcome back taking sports radio.

00:15:53
Speaker 3: If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four Uh one person, right's Matt. I did see uh Tyron and they sent.

00:16:04
Speaker 4: A picture too.

00:16:04
Speaker 3: I'm not gonna post a picture because it was like one of the trees, but I did see Tyron walking around campus. He was with Moe. They were laughing the whole time. It was cool to see. That's good news.

00:16:16
Speaker 6: That's good news because they have a relationship already, so me trying to foster that and they convince him to come over here.

00:16:21
Speaker 3: So I walked by the house yesterday with the with the banners. Huh, that was cool. They the dudes were standing on the porch from what I like, all day. They had media in and out all day. Mario was there, Mario, come on just a second for uh to just use that one. What what what was it like when you went over there?

00:16:43
Speaker 6: It was a lot of fun.

00:16:44
Speaker 9: They had a lot of energy and uh, they're really nice dudes, were they?

00:16:48
Speaker 4: They seemed really excited about all this.

00:16:50
Speaker 9: Oh yeah, they like you said, they stood out on the porch when I drove past them. The first time news there the whole time. Yeah, just did it.

00:16:56
Speaker 3: I drove it like four thirty and there was a TV crew there and I just rolled my window down and said hi, and they all yelled. So I sent them all pizza last night. I've seen that.

00:17:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, But they did they have any other stories? Was anything else said?

00:17:12
Speaker 6: A lot of media came there.

00:17:13
Speaker 9: It was like media was coming to in and out like Kentucky Colonel. They said they have a TV interview coming up like in the next few days. Other than that, like they just was really like excited.

00:17:24
Speaker 4: Well good. I liked it.

00:17:25
Speaker 3: I felt like when I felt like it was that's, as Shannon, what you want in the Kentucky Big Blue Knights. They have to have little scenes like that, like the banner Boy. They have now like two thousand followers on Twitter.

00:17:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, they've had a good forty eight hours and I've had a goody. It was like, you know, the excitement that we had early in the cal era with some of these recruits coming in. We would see stuff like that. We really felt that in a long time.

00:17:48
Speaker 6: They made signs that were standing on the streets side of the street with their sign getting people to honk and they drove by. I mean, I think I think it was a constant stream all day yesterday. But man, I've not seen this excitement about a couple of recruits in a long time. I mean, it's kind of good to feel the way we used to get about some of these recruits when they were considering Kentucky.

00:18:05
Speaker 3: One person rites, Matt, I don't think you should have put the Kia thing out. Makes us look bad, inc people, I mean the people, the amount of everyone. There's a group of people. Everyone has become children, worried about anything.

00:18:23
Speaker 4: Don't put that out. It makes us look bad.

00:18:25
Speaker 3: Like, come on, man, this is Kentucky. Okay, this is Kentucky. It's just this is.

00:18:34
Speaker 6: How it is.

00:18:36
Speaker 4: Right.

00:18:37
Speaker 3: You know, I can't hold everyone's hand and make them feel better at every single moment.

00:18:44
Speaker 6: Yeah you are, You're mad, Jones.

00:18:46
Speaker 4: You know it's a you want.

00:18:49
Speaker 3: These people want information, but only the information that makes them happy.

00:18:56
Speaker 6: Yeah, please please don't give me.

00:18:59
Speaker 3: Information that's bad. Well here's information's bad. No, give me information. It's good and even if it's wrong.

00:19:08
Speaker 4: I feel better. Stop Like this is the real world. Okay, this you folks just have to understand. Like I'm chatting and I'm starting to sound like the old guy. That's like backing the day kids, But.

00:19:27
Speaker 3: You know what I mean, Like you should have seen what it was like when John Wall visited.

00:19:31
Speaker 6: Uh huh do.

00:19:32
Speaker 3: People remember John Wall? There were cameras that followed them around. Yes, right, they couldn't do anything when Anthony Davis was like you folks like yesterday was awesome, but it's still not like what there used.

00:19:50
Speaker 4: To be fifty Matt Jones's.

00:19:54
Speaker 3: And they all used to just do like we beat them all so we're the last one standing. But you know, I can't believe how soft some people have and our fan and I'm saying this, and I'm mister feelings and emotional and I like participation trophies, and even I'm saying to some of these younger folks, Shannon, like buck up.

00:20:15
Speaker 2: Yeah, getting dropped off of the airport a beat up Kia is not gonna be the difference in him coming to Kentucky or no.

00:20:20
Speaker 3: And it's it's funny he got in an uber. It's an unofficial visit. That's the way it goes like it's not and it may not, it may not even even been beat up.

00:20:29
Speaker 4: May have been a nice Kiya. I don't know.

00:20:31
Speaker 6: Could have been a brand new Kia, a brand new Kiya.

00:20:34
Speaker 4: Do have you ever driven a Kiya?

00:20:36
Speaker 6: I don't think I have of you.

00:20:38
Speaker 2: No, I have a rental car.

00:20:41
Speaker 4: Yes, we drove a Kiya. We drove a key on one of our roads.

00:20:43
Speaker 6: Oh, we did.

00:20:44
Speaker 4: Remember it's a nice car.

00:20:45
Speaker 2: Wasn't beat us? Nice car got us, Yeah, where we needed to go.

00:20:50
Speaker 3: It was like Blake Griffin jumped over Akiya, didn't he in the dunk context?

00:20:54
Speaker 10: He did?

00:20:55
Speaker 6: Yeah, it was blue for crying out loud. They were smart.

00:21:00
Speaker 3: I just did the amount of sort of like every you know, if that kid who got to shoot at Rapperina at night by himself, who drove around campus and there were signs for him everywhere, and who's in the greatest college basketball tradition of all time, and who is being offered an obscene amount of money with the shoe company that if he doesn't want to come here then because of It's not gonna be because of a Kia, you know, Shannon. Yeah, And it's not gonna because somebody posted about Akiya.

00:21:43
Speaker 2: Nope, and it was unofficial, as you pointed out. If we could have I have.

00:21:50
Speaker 4: I can't believe I'm like becoming.

00:21:53
Speaker 3: My grandfather used to say, like we would lose a t ball game and I would cry and he would stop crying.

00:22:02
Speaker 6: Tough love.

00:22:04
Speaker 3: Well, part of me wants to go, hey, stop crying. If we don't get this kid, it'll stink.

00:22:10
Speaker 6: But it won't be because of a Kia.

00:22:11
Speaker 4: It ain't gonna because of a Kia. It's because he didn't want to come here. You know. Kristin Peak.

00:22:16
Speaker 3: By the way, he's known this kid since he was fourteen, So like her information.

00:22:19
Speaker 6: Okay, so she's got a relationship with the family, relationship.

00:22:22
Speaker 4: With the family. So she says a couple of weeks.

00:22:24
Speaker 3: Then I think we're we're probably looking at a couple of weeks, Shannon, at which point, now you got to decide, if you're Mark Pope, what do you do?

00:22:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, and Mark Pope needs a big recruit. This is his guy to get right.

00:22:34
Speaker 3: I think if he wants to wait on Tyron Stokes, our fan base will be a lot more accepting of that.

00:22:40
Speaker 4: If they get Rob right today, Yeah, do you agree with that?

00:22:46
Speaker 3: Right? And then like he can be a great player, then everybody can go all right, We'll fill out the rest of the roster and then we'll just cross our fingers and hope. Is that kind of what you think what I would do? I think that's maybe what happens today. Then was big?

00:23:02
Speaker 4: All right? Eightf I'm nine two eighty seven. We'll take a break right back, KSR. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them pay.

00:23:11
Speaker 2: Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.

00:23:16
Speaker 3: Welcome back Tukey Sports Radio. Before we go to the phones, there's more visits this week.

00:23:20
Speaker 4: Ryan. Okay, I'm gonna read you the names.

00:23:22
Speaker 3: These are the ones we've confirmed by we I mean either me or Jacob pola Check or Jack Pilgrim.

00:23:30
Speaker 4: What what do you want? Why you just tell me what's up?

00:23:33
Speaker 6: It's got the on the other side.

00:23:35
Speaker 4: Okay, what can we do this?

00:23:36
Speaker 3: Well, I know I'm not worried with put you on camera here, tell me to wipe stuff off my face?

00:23:41
Speaker 4: Well on the radio.

00:23:43
Speaker 6: I didn't want him to get on a camera that way. Okay, Well, but there.

00:23:45
Speaker 4: Is no there's no camera. All right, it's just all right. Here we go.

00:23:50
Speaker 3: Alex Wilkins. Uh, he's from Furman. I think is that right, Uh, Terrence Brown from Utah, Donnie Freeman from Syricus, Jalen Cox or.

00:24:02
Speaker 4: Maybe he's from Furman.

00:24:04
Speaker 3: Somebody's from Furman, and then Magoon Glothe your guy again. You might have been a year early. But but but we'll find out. All those guys are expected to visit this week, depending of course, on these other decisions.

00:24:20
Speaker 6: You know, they thought they had him last year.

00:24:22
Speaker 3: You they Shannon, it was him. I thought you said that he was going to come here last year.

00:24:29
Speaker 6: He decided to just stay at San Diego State. Maybe this is the year they get.

00:24:32
Speaker 3: To Maybe this is the year. So those those are five and there maybe more. Those are just the ones that any.

00:24:38
Speaker 6: Of those guys excite you.

00:24:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, all of them, well, not all of them, but Alex Wilkins I think can put up a lot of points. I don't I've not seen Terrence Brown much, so I don't really know. People love Donnie Freeman, they keep I mean, he's ranked high in the list, and yeah, I don't. I don't know as much about Ja Cox Colgate Colgate. Yea, no, that's I saw him play the kid from Colgate. I saw him play a game, and I liked him so yesterday. But now if your team, if the if they're the best two players on your team, now I'm not excited, right, But if they are option three and four in your back court, now I'm excited, right, So I do. So, I don't know, and it kind of depends on where they're where they're where they are on the list.

00:25:24
Speaker 6: Yeah, though you don't want those guys to be your top two, you gotta go get it.

00:25:27
Speaker 3: I don't think they can be your top two because I would sit there and go Are they better than Oway and Aberdeen?

00:25:31
Speaker 5: No?

00:25:32
Speaker 6: Probably not.

00:25:33
Speaker 3: Right now, we may not get guys better than the Oway and Aberdeen, but we need to get in their ballpark and then maybe improve in the front court.

00:25:42
Speaker 4: Because I think we can improve in the front court.

00:25:45
Speaker 3: I think moreno will be better and I think there are guys we can get that are better yellow than the Yellovich, Garrison and.

00:25:50
Speaker 6: Diabata, the other guys in that group you think.

00:25:53
Speaker 4: Donny Freeman I think can be better.

00:25:55
Speaker 3: Magoo Gwath is maybe not better overall, but he has a skill set of protecting the rim that's been better than anybody we had last year.

00:26:01
Speaker 6: Is So they're doing all these a lot of these visits on Zoom. But these are the guys who are actually bringing on camp.

00:26:05
Speaker 3: They're coming on campus at least as of now. Okay, Peanut, go ahead, Peanut, Hey, how he's going fellas good?

00:26:17
Speaker 7: I'm gonna talking about Burt Krusher.

00:26:19
Speaker 6: He's been funny on show.

00:26:23
Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, but but but but what does he do that's so funny?

00:26:27
Speaker 4: He takes his shirt off?

00:26:30
Speaker 6: No, well, he doesn't really do that on that show.

00:26:32
Speaker 4: Have you ever seen Joe No? I know what it is, but I've never watched it. I don't like that guy. Whatever the main guy's name is.

00:26:40
Speaker 8: I don't like.

00:26:41
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:26:41
Speaker 3: I mean, I would watch it if what's his face? The guy like Shane Gillis is on it. But I'm not watching Joe Rogan and I'm not watching whatever little Tony mustache is.

00:26:53
Speaker 4: Go care, Go care.

00:26:56
Speaker 3: First, call Bert Krescher if he likes him, you know what I mean, Like you should if you like a guy, you like a guy he likes for christ.

00:27:06
Speaker 6: Big news going on, and you tell everybody's.

00:27:08
Speaker 4: Got what matters to the Dave, Go ahead, Dave.

00:27:12
Speaker 10: I guess a couple of things. First, is there a hard deadline for high school players? To commit. Also, is there a hard deadline on the portal?

00:27:23
Speaker 3: As far as there's a hard deadline on it, there's a hard deadline on entering the portal. But I think actually deciding, I think it can go into June, actually August, Well is it August August first? So apparently it's August first according to Mario. I think Mario, maybe he knows the rules, but entering the portal has to be by next Tuesday.

00:27:47
Speaker 10: They got your second thing, and I know we can do whatever he wants. But why would Soaks need I mean, this has been one on now forever, I mean the recruiting process. Why would he need two more weeks to decide?

00:28:00
Speaker 3: I mean he doesn't need probably doesn't need it, probably doesn't need it. This is my read on it, my read and this is with no knowledge. Okay, this is Matt Jones just reading the same stuff everybody else is. I think this kid wants to go to Kansas, right, I think this just my read it what he wants to go to Kansas. I think the money situation is better for him at Kentucky. I think the Nike situation is better for him at Kentucky. I think potentially he realizes he could be on a better team at Kentucky if Rob Bright and all these guys come, but he just likes it better at Kansas. And so you're sitting there weighing the business decision of coming to Kentucky versus just the feeling of wanting to be at Kansas. I think that's that's just my read on it. But that's where I think it probably is.

00:28:52
Speaker 10: All.

00:28:52
Speaker 4: I appreciate it, appreciate the.

00:28:54
Speaker 3: Call, and maybe hoping that by the waiting the business decision gets better.

00:29:00
Speaker 6: You know, he's he is the last one standing of all the top recruits. Everybody else committed and committed a long time ago. It does seem odd he's the number one guy and has waited this long and make chriscision.

00:29:09
Speaker 3: Peek, who knows the family since he was fourteen, says that Bill's self has told him I want I'm coming back out of retirement or you know, I'm not retiring to coach you.

00:29:24
Speaker 6: You know they carry await. Wait, well it.

00:29:27
Speaker 4: Means it's clearly what he's been told.

00:29:28
Speaker 3: Yeah, you know so, But you know what, Shannon, if he comes here, I don't care if we were his first choice or not.

00:29:36
Speaker 2: Yees at the end of the day, is he here.

00:29:38
Speaker 3: Post was not Kentucky's first choice, and he ran here. That's right, and Kentucky accepted it very much. So you know, if we are his second choice, but we end up here, then I'm going to say we may not have been in your we may not have been in your heart at first, but Shannon will be in your heart in the end.

00:29:59
Speaker 2: We wore you.

00:30:00
Speaker 6: We've got this good. I don't care.

00:30:05
Speaker 3: That was my that was my hope in high school with every girl I talked to wear them down, wear them down.

00:30:11
Speaker 4: It never worked.

00:30:12
Speaker 2: She said, all right, all right, come.

00:30:14
Speaker 3: On, fine, I'll take you the prom. I'll go the problem with you. I might become a lesbian as soon as the prom is.

00:30:24
Speaker 4: Mark, go ahead, Mark.

00:30:29
Speaker 8: I'm sorry, y'all got me laughing. I appreciate you guys and what you do, so thank you for that.

00:30:34
Speaker 6: Thank you.

00:30:35
Speaker 8: But Stokes in right. Being on campus together, I mean, is the staff getting them together to kind of hang out.

00:30:42
Speaker 6: And I think they were together last night.

00:30:45
Speaker 3: They were together last night. I'm not sure you know when they were shooting in the video. I didn't see Rob Wright shooting, so maybe they did it. But I do think they were part of the reason they were both here at the says they were going to try to get them on campus at this like together at some point, because of course, there have been some reports. I think Kristin Peaks said that Stokes wants to make sure he's playing with other good players. But we have this like, yeah, you have this like chicken and egg thing. Stokes wants to see that we have good players. The other good players aren't sure about what's going to happen with Stokes, and it's like and by the way, Kansas has the same situation. Kansas doesn't have any guys either, So both programs are kind of in a situation where they're waiting.

00:31:28
Speaker 4: That's why Rob Wright might be big.

00:31:30
Speaker 3: If we get Rob Wright and a couple other guys, we might have a more formed team than Kansas will have because they don't really have anybody either right now except the Kenny kid.

00:31:39
Speaker 4: But go ahead.

00:31:42
Speaker 8: A couple of weeks ago, you said you like to get in your red seats on the end of the aisle, and I was made me wonder, doesn't I get annoying when people want to come and go. You have to get up for everybody.

00:31:52
Speaker 4: As e I hate it in.

00:31:54
Speaker 3: But what I hate every time someone wants to get up, I just in my mind appreciate the call shin and stare him down, like why you got get up? You just got up. But the good thing about sitting on the aisle is I don't have.

00:32:04
Speaker 4: To stand up. I can just move my legs into the aisle and let them out.

00:32:07
Speaker 2: You don't, Yeah, you don't have to be that guy though you're talking about, because if you're on the inside, exact personal time.

00:32:13
Speaker 4: And seat one and two.

00:32:14
Speaker 3: I always make my guess, whoever I take, they have to sit and see two, so that way they can stand up, and then I just move my legs to the Unless somebody's really large, they'll be able to get vibe.

00:32:25
Speaker 4: I do that.

00:32:26
Speaker 6: It's a tight, a.

00:32:28
Speaker 4: Tight turn it is.

00:32:30
Speaker 3: They're back home again, Deny, Oh, the two guys are still there. You know, I've talked about these guys.

00:32:35
Speaker 4: Over the years.

00:32:35
Speaker 6: Your two guys sit by you. There's two guys across the aisle.

00:32:39
Speaker 8: Two.

00:32:40
Speaker 3: You guys have all seen them, right, you've been there, the two bald brothers. They sit across the aisle from me, one seat in front, and they've been they go to every game. They go to more games than I do. Never speak to each other. They are the most fascinating brothers. Bald look exactly the same, come to the game. Never speak ever, Shannon ever. I watch they don't say words to each of them. I think they're like, we've spent our whole lives together. We have nothing else to say to each other.

00:33:16
Speaker 2: It's like they're at a movie. They'll talk about it after.

00:33:19
Speaker 3: Here's the personalities I can tell of the two of them. One of them is very into the game. Yeah, fist pumps random balls and strikes calls in the third inning. The other one plays tetris a lot of the game on the fat.

00:33:32
Speaker 6: Maybe that's why they don't talk.

00:33:34
Speaker 4: But they don't talk, and every time I come to a game, there's something comfort. I've never spoken to them either, your sugar brothers.

00:33:43
Speaker 3: Oh they look just a lie. Two people can't like, what else are they gonna be? Two guys the same age look alike. I mean, I will say this, if they are a couple. No couple has ever found each other a more perfect you know. No, I think they're brothers, and I think it's kind of sweet that they're there.

00:34:08
Speaker 4: But it's also like do you? They don't.

00:34:11
Speaker 2: Ever, you should go up and initiate conversation with the ifs. A matter of fact, if I get your Braves tickets, I'm gont to go up and talk to them.

00:34:18
Speaker 4: You should.

00:34:20
Speaker 3: For people who get my tickets, you should because I'm not. I like the mystery of I'll feel you, but it makes me feel good when I see them there. Like the game I went the other night's first game. I'd set in my seats for the year, and I was like, Okay, they're still alive.

00:34:36
Speaker 6: You know, there's something very cool about going to a ballgame with your brother all those years. But even if you don't speak. But that's the weird part. It's cool they're going. But how can you go and sit by your brother for a couple hours and watch a ball game and not even say what hey man, hey Mario.

00:34:51
Speaker 3: That's a great challenge you if you all go see if they speak? They won't ever. The weather's warming up days are getting longer. Golden Hour calling kickback, corn Bread and fuse Seltzer's for award winning flavors. That's right, peach, blueberry, it's all there. Everything Cornbread makes is crafted, third party. It's our thirty seconds lab. That's how long this thing is supposed to be. These are hard to read. First time customers had to cornbreadhimp dot com use my cod KSR for twenty percent off your order. Cornbreadheimp dot com code KSR cornbread hemp. You can make it happen and you can feel great with cornbread hemp. We'll take a break right back, KSR, Welcome back. It is Tucky Sports Radio A five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five two five four. Uh.

00:35:46
Speaker 4: They're talking about moving the Preakness back a week. You like that.

00:35:50
Speaker 6: I've been hearing this for thirty years by this time.

00:35:53
Speaker 3: Now they may be doing it because the TV stations may be making.

00:35:55
Speaker 6: Them Finally, I mean, it's the only smart thing to do. You know, people are not competing in the Triple Crown because they're afraid there's not enough time between the Derby and the Preakness. Okay, just move it back one week and it might make a difference.

00:36:07
Speaker 3: I have always thought they should do it, because you know what, time's changed.

00:36:11
Speaker 6: Yes, I hate when people are like that.

00:36:13
Speaker 4: History.

00:36:15
Speaker 2: It's been two five weeks, like so what these horses are these days?

00:36:20
Speaker 3: Okay, fine they are, you know what? So what the Preakness is a joke? Every year the Derby winner goes and no one else go, right, so it's not good, So you gotta make it good. And if that means another week, everybody will get over it. And then I realized that until nineteen sixty nine, they did it different. The Preakness in the Belmont were different weeks every year. The Derby was the only one that said some years the Belmont was before the Preakness.

00:36:47
Speaker 6: Yes, I do remember, I've heard that.

00:36:49
Speaker 4: And sometimes the Belmont would be in July.

00:36:52
Speaker 3: Huh, So why are we wedded to a history that's not even that much of a history. I guess Citation won it and there was like a month in between each one, and everybody knows. I mean, I drove on Citation yesterday. Everybody can sell. I just I don't understand times change. The desire to not change just for the sake of not changing is something that is baffling to me.

00:37:17
Speaker 6: You know, the horse people are, they're pretty petentition. I know they need to. They got to get over it.

00:37:22
Speaker 3: I mean, the Derby is massive, but the Preakness and the Belmont have moved off America's radar in part because unless there's a triple crown person at the horse at the Belmont.

00:37:37
Speaker 6: People don't follow pay attention.

00:37:38
Speaker 3: So you need to do everything you can to make it to where that can happen. Yes, if the Preakness, if all the good horses are in the Preakness, then people will watch it just for that reason.

00:37:48
Speaker 6: Sure they will like the horse purists will would love that.

00:37:52
Speaker 3: Then you go to the Belmont, Yes, you're gonna need a triple crown horse, so let's do whatever to make that as.

00:37:58
Speaker 6: Possible as we can for the betterment of the sport.

00:38:01
Speaker 4: Do it. I just these the people who are just like, this is what we do, believe did well, Cela V.

00:38:10
Speaker 6: Yeah right.

00:38:10
Speaker 3: We always used to have records, and then we decided to move to eight tracks, and then cassettes and then CDs and now it's digital and next they'll just put the song in your brain, Shannon, and you don't even have to have.

00:38:22
Speaker 2: Anything pretty much all though, records are cool again. Yeah, it's weird how technologist comes back to where it was.

00:38:29
Speaker 4: We like the simpler time.

00:38:30
Speaker 2: That's right.

00:38:32
Speaker 3: I saw, I saw an article that said that most people now believe the best time to grow up and be in high school in college is in the nineties.

00:38:40
Speaker 4: And I think they're exactly right.

00:38:43
Speaker 2: I bet the person who wrote that probably grew up in the night, grew up in the nineties. Everybody thinks their generation is the best.

00:38:49
Speaker 3: Yeah, but ours is best, Ryan, think the best pre nine to eleven. But you still had cool stuff. You still had the Internet. You didn't have to you didn't have phones pre nine eleven, pre nine to eleven.

00:39:00
Speaker 6: No draft, Yeah, no draft.

00:39:04
Speaker 2: That's a positive.

00:39:05
Speaker 6: But you're right. See, I grew up in the eighties. I think the eighties are great to say.

00:39:09
Speaker 4: But see, but he's your you're I mean, that's clearly wrong.

00:39:16
Speaker 7: Go ahead, Hey, morning, guys, were doing well. I wanted to follow up on the Tyrant Stokes thing in in the interview that he had with christin Peak last week. He did make a specific reference to I think something you alluded to earlier with one of the other callers was he kind of one wants to have a sense for who's coming, who's going in the portal, that sort of thing. Yeah, well, I don't think you can wait maybe like two three weeks on him. I do think you can give him about a week. And I think it's really important Pope tries to lock down, whether it be Rob Bright, you know, the Donny Freeman guy coming here today or tomorrow, Zoom Diallo, one or two of those guys, because then that that's something that you can show to Stokes and be like, hey, look here's here's some.

00:40:00
Speaker 4: We got some guts.

00:40:01
Speaker 7: You're gonna be able to play alongside of Ye. I agree, and I appreciate independent of a Tyron Stokes decision, are also guys.

00:40:08
Speaker 4: That you could what you want. Yeah, I think is huge.

00:40:11
Speaker 3: I appreciate the call because I think whether you get Stokes or not Rob Wright is if you're sitting there going we've got to replace Aberdeen in O way, and we need two guys that are at least in the ballpark of is good. Rob Wright's one. You got one right there, Okay, Now Stokes would be the same. If you get Rob Bright and Stokes, you're probably better than Oway in Aberdeen. If you get Rob right and somebody a little worse, maybe you'll be a little worse, but you can be better at all the other positions and be more deep and more balanced. So Rob Wright to me, a lot of people are on pins and needles yesterday. I'm on pins and needles today. We can't get to this show tomorrow and not have a Rob right commitment or or by midday Wednesday. It's gotta happen, because if you get if you let him leave and he does not commit, then I start to wonder if it's gonna happened.

00:41:00
Speaker 6: He's such a big domino to fall. You get him to commit, that might lead others to want to commit to play with this kid.

00:41:06
Speaker 3: Jeff Goodman has good connections with that group and basically said, it's Kentucky so long as they don't screw up.

00:41:14
Speaker 6: So we're taking the Carsons, and.

00:41:17
Speaker 3: I would say, just don't screw up. That's the key. Roy go ahead rule, he Roy, go ahead. Tell that person in the background the house go ahead.

00:41:34
Speaker 5: You all was talking about marriage last week. Yes, I got a question to ask you. It's a joke. Okay, why did God create man before he created the woman? Oh gosh, can you tell me?

00:41:47
Speaker 4: I can't.

00:41:50
Speaker 5: Okay, he created the man first because he didn't want the woman telling him what to do.
