00:00:00 Speaker 1: I miss the green. For example, I'm already upset. When I find my ball in the bunker, I'm really upset. 00:00:05 Speaker 2: And when I find my ball in a fried egg Friday Egg, the dreaded Friday Egg, Friday Frida Frida Egg Bride. 00:00:11 Speaker 1: Egg Lie, I'm about ready to run off of the course. 00:00:39 Speaker 3: Ladies and gentlemen, Welcome back to another edition of the Friday Egg Podcast. Tonight. I'm joined by Brendan poor Ath of sp Nation and Sean Martin at the PGA Tour. Guys, how's it going? 00:00:53 Speaker 2: Thanks for the formal intro, man, it makes it feel very official. 00:00:56 Speaker 1: I appreciate it. Thank you, and for having me back intro. 00:01:00 Speaker 2: You're very uh you want to see how the what the land gives you? 00:01:03 Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a special occasion calls for a special intro. What'd you guys think about Tiger's cut to the chase. 00:01:14 Speaker 2: It's hard. I think I kind of starting to feel like I wasn't covering a lot of tour events when he was like in his prime. But it's hard, man, because I mean what, he's good. He's good enough to win, He's gonna win. He plays well like what else he gonna write? You? Know, it's just he's really good at golf, and he's probably gonna win, and unless his back explodes, he's gonna be good for as long as he's healthy. 00:01:40 Speaker 1: I mean, that's some expert analysis. He's good at golf. 00:01:43 Speaker 2: I like that. 00:01:43 Speaker 1: Sean, Yeah, I thought it was kind of a captivating week. I tried to be. It's just so easy to like get worked up on Twitter and just add to the cacophony of just people streaming and tweeting gifts and stuff like that. And we've done that. We did it in twenty fourteen and fifteen, and you know all these other failed comebacks. But it's just, I mean, it's hard not to get captivated by it. He's hitting kind of all the shots and looks very different and seems and is sticking to strategy, seems to be kind of have management back, course, management principles back in play, and he really, I don't know, he really This is so cliche, but you know, you heard Paul aisen Geer always talk about how like he went from the artist to the engineer. He just really kind of feels like he's playing golf again, like he's working the ball different ways. He's decided like with Joey decided how he wanted to play eighteen and he's stuck to it all four days, and it just seems like he's and with flop shots or whatever it is around the green from with long irons, short irons. It just feels like he's more of like and to listen to him talk after the rounds, it feels like he's more playing golf and not just you know, trying to engineer some swing at all times. 00:03:03 Speaker 2: That's a good take. I definitely agree with that. He was definitely controlling some flights. There's some tragh he's not trying to play just like just a fade or just out left right shot like he's working it. And so it's really cool to see. 00:03:15 Speaker 3: It might be because he played that practice round at riv with Bryson, he saw what he didn't want to be and. 00:03:25 Speaker 1: Is what he did want to be. Come on, Bryson's a mix of artists and engineer. He's like Leonardo da Vinci. 00:03:32 Speaker 3: Well, he is doing the you know, he's his own swing coach now, which I think that's going to lead to more creativity and more natural flow and natural feeling on the on his swing. I kind of had forgotten how much he means to Like the sports world. I got a bunch of college buddies that aren't really golfers or golf fans at all, Like they subscribe to the Friday Egg, but they don't read it ever. But those same friends were just like texting me all weekend asking me questions about Tiger, and I'm like, holy shit, Like, you know, I forgot how big he is, and how you know you're you see on ESPN, you know, updates all the time about Tiger. You know, he's like the big story. He's the main story on ESPN when March Madness is happening. That's crazy to me, is like, you know, it's Selection Sunday and Tiger Woods is the biggest story in sports. 00:04:31 Speaker 2: And how big Tiger playing well is. I think like the general sports thing got tired of the comeback and then it failed and you know, the video of Tiger getting carted off the course again, and so they were like, I think the general sports thank kind of had this hey call me when he plays well kind of mentality. And now obviously he's playing well, and so I mean he is he is the story? 00:04:53 Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think if if he's got to be the favorite going into this week, wouldn't you guys say it's crazy? 00:05:02 Speaker 1: I know, it's nuts. It's crazy. I didn't, but I totally agree I didn't. 00:05:08 Speaker 2: He hadn't played bay Hill since he won it in twenty thirteen. He's won four of his last five starts at bay Hill. 00:05:13 Speaker 1: Why hasn't he played since twin I mean, I know it's. 00:05:16 Speaker 2: Too late in the season. I mean all other seasons. 00:05:18 Speaker 1: Yeah, fourteen, he went out after. 00:05:20 Speaker 2: Took having back surgeries around March and April, right, so he just never made it there. 00:05:27 Speaker 3: It's uh, I mean, it's it's nuts. I didn't think he would come back this fast. I thought he would be good, like after a couple you know, when he was clearly healthy. But like I did not think four starts in we'd be talking about him being the favorite the next start out. 00:05:46 Speaker 2: I feel like this week was big because you know, he he scrambled around and had obviously a good finish at Tory for what he was doing, but then he played so bad at riv we thought like, all right, maybe this is going to be a week to week thing. Like he's gonna have some good weeks, you gonna have some bad weeks. So I think in the vals Bar, because he hadn't played the course before, he's like, well, you know, can he is he only gonna play well at Toy because he plays well there, no matter what, he can play well they're one handed. And then playing well at vals Bar proved that, okay, riv was more of an anomaly. It wasn't proved that this was gonna be a week's week comeback. So the fact that he played so well on a course that he hasn't seen in two decades, Uh, I mean, it's just it proves that he's back and this is not like a you know, some good weeks and bad weeks, and he's not gonna win every week. He's gonna might miss some cuts. Everyone does, but I mean he is, he's back. I mean what we asked me, he's back. 00:06:35 Speaker 1: So I think like we also need Like I agree completely, I think we also need to add on like the disclaimer that he's back so long as he's healthy. Like I'm not suggesting like he's on the verge of his spine disintegrating or anything like that. Like it's just like I think we still need to be cautious to make sure it's sustainable, like as long as he's healthy, and you know that's like such a cop out. Yeah he's back, but like, I just feel like we still got have the caveat and maybe it's not his back, maybe he's like whatever, he messes up his achilles or his knee or so, you know, something else goes I just feel like, gotta be you could say that about every player, but with Tiger, we just got kind of used to something going wrong when it when it had when it every time it could in recent years. So I don't know, what did you guys think was kind of was what was the weak point of his game this week? I mean, it's hard to like really drill down on it. 00:07:28 Speaker 3: I thought his pace was bad today putting I and I think that is just all part of the process of getting back. Is a lot of times when you're nervous or uncomfortable, your pace is a little is the toughest thing to deal with on the greens, and he was leaving puts short. But then you know, he gassed a couple where he hit him just a little too hard through the break and it just didn't seem like the pace was really right all day. So I think that was the one spot he struggled. But I mean the irons. The way he plays long part three is like I had forgotten until like Saturday, he hit a few shots that, you know, like that the sound on the club face when he hits a long iron is just it's so unique and it's different than everybody else, Like I mean, and the way the ball comes off of face. His his long iron game is just so good. 00:08:27 Speaker 2: And it's high again. I think in twenty twelve, twenty thirteen, when he's working with Foley, it was getting a little bit low. He's in a lot of those low bullet bads, but he's just hitting him so high. 00:08:35 Speaker 3: Now, yeah, it's. 00:08:37 Speaker 1: That was the short It's crazy how he turned that around from rib though, right because he said, like, I can't hit it. I'm not hitting a pin high right now. I can't find distance control of my irons. He's like, that's like you guys are just talking about my driver, you know, getting stuck up in a tree and missing every fairway and all this other stuff. But like the real problem right now is like the hallmark of my career. As all I said, I always hit a pin high and I'm not doing that right now my wedges are, but my irons are and then like two weeks later he shows up at Honda and it's just it's all there or the next week, I guess. 00:09:10 Speaker 2: So, yeah, I don't know what Riv was that was. That was weird, but it seems like the exception. But I mean RIV was really bad. 00:09:20 Speaker 3: You know what it was? It was with. 00:09:25 Speaker 2: I mean he said, you know when he chipped in on nine yesterday, he was, uh, he'd been burning edges all day and or all week and waiting for one to fall and finally did. 00:09:37 Speaker 1: And I want to hear your theory. What was wrong with the RIV. 00:09:40 Speaker 3: I think everybody's heard it way more than they need to, is they with with so the it's wider corridors, So he drove it really bad at Tory too. Tori's like narrow fairways, but the corridors are really wide, so they don't give you like a defined aim point. But what happens is, say you have like there's a bunker you know on the left side that you don't want to go in at a place like Riv or Tory, you can miss like fifty yards right and you know that it's in the back of your head. You know as a player, like, hey, I can miss over here, you know, I'm I'm. It's like the same thing with a green, like an island green, like sawgrass. You know you have to stand up and hit a good shot there. But if you leave a side of a green open, people are gonna miss over there, because like, really good players are actually extremely conservative whenever they are the least bit uncomfortable. So if I don't have the right number, you're gonna play. You're going to play left of a right flag. But so with with wide corridors on a on a course like Riviera or or a Tory, he knows he can miss versus Honda and vals bar is really tight and they tell it tells you exactly where to hit it, and you like literally have to just hit the shot. 00:10:58 Speaker 2: It's a really good point. He didn't talk this week too about how he was happy that that when he did miss, he missed in the right spots. And you know, you look at his he's actually in the PGA Tour stats now and his g IR percentage is horrible, but his strokes gained approach is really good, and part of it because he's not hitting a ton of greens. But he's missing them by very little, and he is leaving easy chip shots. I don't know, I can't think of very many flop shots we've had to see this week. There were a lot of easy, you know, easy short game shots. 00:11:23 Speaker 1: So what do you what do you guys think speaking of like, I don't know the kind of your your your spots and strategy being defined for you and and things like that on tighter golf courses. What do you guys think about his strategy on eighteen being a birdie? It seems to be takes a raging on Twitter this evening about you know, he left himself one eighty five, you know, and then tried to tried to do a seven iron, tried to duke a seven iron Updale. It came up. You know, he kind of stayed up on that ridge, but obviously it was well short of It. 00:11:55 Speaker 2: Gets super narrow up there, and I think, you know, Joey uh said that, you know, five yards one way to the other would have been a good number to have, but they wanted to leave it. Blow the hole. You don't want to go along. So if you try to feather cut a six in there, you risk going long and then being dead. Or having a really hard putt. Now you want to be forty feet short, but you also want to be long, and so it gets so narrow the farther up you go on that hole. 00:12:19 Speaker 3: I think you pick a strategy to play the hole, and you play the hole the same way, regardless of the situation. Like he picked that. So I think with Tiger, if you hit the if he's the fairway, he's got a good chance of making a birdie because he's such a great iron player. Like the most important factor of him making birdie on the eighteenth hole was him hitting the fairway regardless, And like I really think that is you know, if you're the best iron player ever in golf, like you want to give yourself as many chances. And I like the seven iron because you can't hit it long. You know, it's like a club that you know you can swing hard at and hit hard and it's not going to go long. So you eliminate one of the issues. 00:13:02 Speaker 2: So I so much front to back tilt and that green. 00:13:05 Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't have any problem or back to front. 00:13:09 Speaker 1: Sorry, data guys might might get on you Andy for saying hitting the pharaway giving the best chance at a Birdie. I don't know. I mean the people are just saying if you go just add another or whatever kind of add a threewood something that gets you another fifty sixty yards off the pharaway, then your your proximity a hole is going to increase traumatically. I don't know. I don't have a strong take about it. But it just feels like, you know you need birdie, but I don't know. Try to get put a wedge or something in your hands. 00:13:38 Speaker 2: You get three withood earlier in the week when the wind was different. But I mean, like those right bunkers, they're kind of church Pew esque. Those are dead. Those bunkers are pretty dead. I don't you got to give yourself a chance. 00:13:50 Speaker 1: I see it. 00:13:51 Speaker 3: And if you get a wedge, we saw it with Reid that you can overspin it. It's like that that pin with a wedge isn't like the easiest pin to get to you because of spin. You know. 00:14:02 Speaker 1: So I shouldn't write that article that Tiger doesn't have the desire to win anymore. He likes playing for a second, yeah. 00:14:08 Speaker 2: You say he's doing I have I'll second gets. Some guys have a hard time and second guessing. 00:14:12 Speaker 3: I think it's kind of like what happened with Poulter last year at seventeen a sagrass. People are going to say that he was playing for the fed X Cup points and not playing for the for the for the win. 00:14:25 Speaker 1: Brandal needs to get a Twitter tip now, Tiger, He's locked horns too many times. 00:14:31 Speaker 3: How about Paul Casey having the best putting crewer day of his career to win, you know, like. 00:14:37 Speaker 2: Like twenty one pos, just twenty one pots. 00:14:40 Speaker 3: He had twenty one putts, lowest putting, lowest number of putts he's ever had in his career. Tony Greensy here, I don't I don't know. 00:14:50 Speaker 1: I think I saw it was the lowest ray or somebody said it was the lowest lowest amount of putts and a fine round of PGA Tour since like the nineteen nine nineties or something like that. 00:15:01 Speaker 2: Yeah, here it is Kenny Knox. 00:15:03 Speaker 1: No, it's the fewest in the final round by PGA Tour winner, So winner since Jim Carter at the two thousand and Tucson Open. That's from Golf Channels, justin right, the god. I mean that's eighteen. 00:15:16 Speaker 3: Years ago, so it's pretty crazy too, because so Casey DJ Paiehowski sent me. Is sent a text to like a group thread that Casey was at the number one in the Sagarin rankings heading into this week. Like Paul Casey, So I looked this up since his last win, has had twenty nine worldwide top tens since two. He's overrateds overrated, way overrated. 00:15:48 Speaker 2: Way overrated, overright underrated, winning overrated. 00:15:52 Speaker 3: Yeah, he's I mean, I'm so happy he finally won. You know, I would have loved Tiger to win, but like second guy, I wanted to win with Paul Casey. 00:16:03 Speaker 1: Did you I didn't see that coming though at all. I mean, yesterday was kind of a mess for him, and he's never, like you said, he's kind of always lurking and never really has closed well since O nine. From that's, you know, kind of contending Sunday spot. Maybe just being you know, an hour and a half ahead of the leaders is the way to do it. 00:16:21 Speaker 2: It's just one of those the more chances you gave, I mean, the more eventually one time you're going to shoot that sixty five and get that victory. He just has so many chances. One of them has to go his way it. 00:16:30 Speaker 3: It kind of feels like Sergia last year and the Masters, and we're talking. 00:16:34 Speaker 2: About this the bals Far's ironic. He was playing with Scott Stallings because Scott Stallings is like the guy who has like five to seven career top tens and three of them are ways. Paul Casey has eight billion top tens and now two of them are ways. 00:16:49 Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I god, I did not. I just didn't see that being the guy at edged Tiger. I really thought, you know, as crazy as it sounds like Tiger was a favorite, I mean legitimately, not just the betting favorite, because that's you know, protecting liability against all the money coming in on it. But you know, Rose was in the last group, Snedeker was playing with him. I wasn't putting a lot of you. 00:17:14 Speaker 2: I thought Reader was going to pull it out. 00:17:17 Speaker 1: Really. 00:17:17 Speaker 2: I had a great tweet ready too, man, I was excited. I was gonna tweet it. Casey might be reaping his Rider Cup decision after he gets a first hand look at Patrick Reid in his element. But then of course that quarantine happened and I had to hit the lead real quick. 00:17:30 Speaker 3: How about that? 00:17:32 Speaker 2: That was amazing? I compared it. I compared it to the ninety eight Olympic, the US Open when Payne Stewartston they're watching that ball roll back to his feet kind of didn't. 00:17:42 Speaker 1: Even see it. I had to watch it afterwards because I was too Basically, I had my computer typing up takes on Tigers, you know, seventeen and eighteen. 00:17:50 Speaker 2: It was it forty probably forty feet and it creeps out he I mean it probably only rolled twenty five feet and then just rolled right back to his feet. 00:18:00 Speaker 1: I mean, he's played well there obviously historically, but I don't know, he's not He's not done much. I feel like outside of the Ryder Cup. 00:18:08 Speaker 2: No, I mean, he was not going to make a Presidence Cup team right, the PA right. 00:18:13 Speaker 3: I mean, I feel like him and phill are the two guys that like would never get left off a Ryder Cup or Presidence Cup team. Now, Like, I don't think Patrick Reid could be left off the Ryder Cup team. 00:18:27 Speaker 1: I would concur with that. I would agree with that, I mean as much I'm not I can't say I'm the biggest Reid fan, but it just seems like he has kind of an automatic auto bid from here on out unless he's injured. 00:18:40 Speaker 2: For the next twenty years, no matter what. 00:18:41 Speaker 1: Happens about twenty A little while American. 00:18:44 Speaker 3: Poulter, So, how about this start of the season we've had, we had all the young winners, and now we've had a bunch of old guys. Had Bubba, We've got Phil, We've got Casey winning, and I've obviously you got sprinkled in there, you got JT. But like, it's it's interesting that there we were actually getting that old guard back and golf that was gone for like two years. 00:19:13 Speaker 2: I mean, last year was a record setting year for wins by guys twenty five and under filling the vacuum that Phil and Tiger had left behind. And then you know, but then Phil and Tyger came back, and I love Shackleford has a great take about how like the great duels in golf history evolving generational battles and kind of the stage is set for that. 00:19:31 Speaker 1: Now, well we need the young guys Rory and Jordan to pick it up a little bit. You know, I don't know if they'll be the ones. But Thomas R. 00:19:43 Speaker 3: Rory's ranked thirteenth, which is his lowest world ranking since two thousand and nine that was Fat Rory. Yeah, it was a long time ago. 00:19:54 Speaker 1: I would be down with Fat Rory coming back to. 00:19:58 Speaker 2: Kind of like with his hair, with his bushy hair, I mean athlete, he's a good fit, just. 00:20:05 Speaker 1: Kind of like walking around like a bubb light after the round immediately over, like I would just I'd be wigh in with you know, I might loosen things up, you know, I think like too much of his persona has been you know, puts put into this like weightlifter guy and mister Nike athlete, Like why why don't you just go against the grain be the Nike athlete that's a little kind of all overweight. I would welcome it. It be more of an icon for me. 00:20:31 Speaker 3: It's you know, it's kind of like Tiger's Monster sponsorship. It just shows that he's he's, you know, a little bit more laid back than he's ever been before. Traded an at and T for Monster. 00:20:44 Speaker 2: What tweets do you have ready for a Tiger wing to involve Monster? 00:20:48 Speaker 1: I usually, I swear to God, I just pulled those together on the fly. I'm serious. Not nothing is loaded in. Nothing's loaded in for the wind. It's probably be disappointing I didn't have anything ready tonight. If he won, it's just kind of you know, think about something and let it rip. I guess I should probably put some drafts together. 00:21:08 Speaker 3: The Daylight Savings time one got me good. 00:21:14 Speaker 1: I mean I could, I could have used it. I like peaked this week man with Thursday, Friday, Saturday, like just ran out of Monster. But Sunday night I lost an hour of sleep. I'm out of Monster. Trying to come down from the whole freaking Tiger, you know, making a bunch of pars all day. It's like I am low energy right now. I peaked and kind of rifled through my monster supply after those first couple of days. 00:21:41 Speaker 3: So looking forward to the masters, A, do you think they are going to stock Tiger's cabin with monster? 00:21:52 Speaker 2: And B what's not over under? And how many monsters Tiger's drength in his life? 00:21:56 Speaker 3: Five one? 00:22:00 Speaker 1: You know, I got some good on the ground reporting on this matter. Every era. Yeah, A friend of mine there said he saw Joey Joey filling it with water. I was wondering if but I questioned that, you know, thinking maybe water was to dilute it, like the the unletted kind of nature of whatever was in there already, just trying to dilute it and bring it down a little bit. But you know, I think the over under on how many he's actually drinking his life is one. 00:22:27 Speaker 3: So I could see him drinking it a lot when he's up late playing Call of Duty. 00:22:35 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:22:38 Speaker 1: God, that's his shorthand. I mean maybe that's everybody's shorthand. I'm not familiar with that kind of world, the video game world, but yeah, he just he refers to it as cod But I have allowed myself to think about you know, there are no brands at Augusta National, no brands, you know, Cochage or whatever it is, is just soda, die cola, things like that. I think he's gonna get. He's gonna, you know, Shoehorn, Crowbar, some brands on the twenty nineteen Champions Dinner menu. He's just gonna say, you're gonna serve Monster Energy. You coment ches an energy drink you get, Yeah, the Champions Dinner, you get three different flavors, three different flavors to choose from. Twenty nine. Problem, it's not the Champion You're gonna as it said twenty nineteen. Oh, okay, you have you're gonna be and Woosnam in there try and figure out which kind of flavor to pick. 00:23:30 Speaker 2: Yeah, we're getting off the rails. The Friday is very high end, high end listenership, and they're probably disgusted with this conversation. 00:23:39 Speaker 3: It's okay, Hey, hey, Sean. I was surprised that you were telling us that you were gonna have to write a Tiger story and you weren't like following around Sam Burns. 00:23:50 Speaker 2: H I talked to Sam on Tuesday. They I'm big on Sam Burns, I think. I mean, it's pretty crazy. I mean, you look at what Peter and did you know Peterson gets left off the Walk Cup and then almost wins the US Open the next year, Burns gets left off the Walk Cup and he's probably gonna earn his tour card via tour starts this year. It's pretty nuts. 00:24:09 Speaker 3: It's crazy when you consider the other players that have earned the special temporary membership and it's like, you know, Rom Speith, Michelson would justin Leonard like there aren't many bad names on that list of nine guys. 00:24:27 Speaker 2: He's just running out of start, that's the problem. He did take a fair amount of starts in the fall and got abso little, this slow start. 00:24:32 Speaker 3: He's got this one though next. 00:24:33 Speaker 2: Week, Yeah, he's got he needs eighty eight points, so solo seventh that bay Hill would take care of it for him. He's got to start in Memorial, which would not count against his sponsor exemptions because he's the Nicholas Award winner. He said he's trying to get into Zurich with William mcgert. I think he'd have two more after that, maybe just one more man. He kind of shot himself in the foot with his twelfth place finish and a triple bogie because he didn't top ten, so he doesn't get that top ten in the Dominican with Romo. 00:25:01 Speaker 3: I wonder is what group is Romo going to get put in? Do you think they'll put them in like the the last or you know, the very last tea time like they would with like alternates, or are they going to put them in like a featured group too. 00:25:15 Speaker 2: Romo burns Woods first two rounds. 00:25:19 Speaker 1: I think, I mean, I think they'll probably have them in the TV window. I think, like the reason I right, right, I mean, the reason you give them an exemption is and granted you can still be in the TV window if you're last or you know, last tea time of the day. But I don't know. I don't know that you put them in like that. I guess there's a formula for it technically, like if you're a winner, but I think they're kind of they really kind of fiddle around with those and maybe some kind of I don't know, fake fake news going on behind how they put those groups together. 00:25:50 Speaker 2: I don't know that there's ever been a sponsor exemption in a feature group. That would be I think that would be impressed. 00:25:55 Speaker 1: I don't think it'll be a feature group. I think it will be kind of in the middle of the t sheet though, right. I don't think they'll put him out like at six thirty in the morning. 00:26:04 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's gotta just. 00:26:06 Speaker 1: So they can show him on TV a little bit. I mean, he's got one purpose there, and whether it's whether it's while he shoots ninety six or shoots eighty four, it's so people can watch him and tune into the Dominican of that. 00:26:17 Speaker 3: On the first tier, they got to announce him as the two thousand and nine Will County am Champ. 00:26:23 Speaker 2: Wow. I don't even where Will County is. 00:26:27 Speaker 3: It's in Chicago. 00:26:29 Speaker 2: Okay, it's uh, but were you in the field. 00:26:32 Speaker 3: I wasn't in the field that year. I'm always questioned. 00:26:35 Speaker 2: How he won. 00:26:37 Speaker 3: No, he will mean he beat I think he beat Todd Mitchell that year. 00:26:41 Speaker 2: Romo. 00:26:42 Speaker 3: Romo used to be better because the back surgeries have really kind of screwed him up. Like he can't put That's the one thing people don't get. Like Romo's actually pretty good. He just like he like can't finish eighteen holes a lot of days, like his back like gives out. 00:27:00 Speaker 2: Really, I think he shot uh sixty seven in the Azilia am one year at a rainer called Charleston. 00:27:06 Speaker 3: Yeah, he can play, he's I think. I mean, if I was going to take out of ten, I think he'd beat Steph Curry more tens out of ten for sure. 00:27:16 Speaker 1: Wow? Really right now? Yeah president really? 00:27:19 Speaker 2: Yeah, apparently he's grinding hard with Chris O'Connell, who's the guy who rebuilt Coocher Swing's work in mayhand now. 00:27:28 Speaker 3: Uh. 00:27:28 Speaker 2: And I talked to Paul Stankowski played in that mini tour event where he shot eighty one, And Paul's a pretty upbeat, positive guy. I didn't want to talk about about anyone, but he said he thinks he has an outside shot at making that cut. 00:27:37 Speaker 1: Can I just bring something up for a second. Sure, you know it's been five years since Tiger was one of the damn PGA tar event. He just came in second miss playoff. You're talking about the Azalea am and Chrys O'Connell working taught in the interview with Paul Stankowski, the hell are we talking about? You? 00:27:59 Speaker 3: We got I mean we got off the rail. 00:28:01 Speaker 1: About count Illinois. Like Paulowski, Look what's the second in or something? 00:28:11 Speaker 2: When he goes left, the Friday goes right. We can talk. I've walked one hundred and forty four holes with Tiger in the last three weeks. I can I can talk Tiger. 00:28:21 Speaker 1: Well, what talk Tiger talking about the crowds? How how uh I want to hear more about these guys? You know remember this today stopped at the apex of his bunker shot on Thursday, like, how many yahoos are out there? Well? 00:28:34 Speaker 2: That was so that was actually a four call from another hole. 00:28:37 Speaker 1: Oh, this is all on the ground reporting. We did not get on TV. 00:28:42 Speaker 2: There was an Elvis today. 00:28:44 Speaker 3: Uh. 00:28:45 Speaker 2: People enjoyed my photo of a guy in a Tiger onesie, which probably will see every week. Now. Nothing too crazy really, just honestly, the thing, it's so funny. Now I'm gonna sound like a curmudgeon here, but you know, with the new phone policy, you kind of just realize that everyone's just following Tiger to create content. That's all they're I mean everyone, like they're just trying to get there, taking snaps when he walks by, they're yelling, they're doing selfie mode, yelling stuff when he walks by. Like it's just everyone's about creating content when they watch him. 00:29:14 Speaker 1: Now, I mean this, this, this is another way to go off the rails and social media. I mean, yeah, you need to. Yeah, I mean there's a lot of articles out there on whether you're actually experiencing life as you know or you're just trying to experience something for an Instagram post. 00:29:33 Speaker 2: But you pull a Radiohead and then be like, hey, I'm not hitting this shot till you guys all put your phone out. 00:29:40 Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's it's bizarre. It's kind of startling to see those pictures of him whatever hidden out trying to punch back in the faraway and there's you know, six hundred people all looking like robots with their phones up. 00:29:52 Speaker 2: There were a couple of times this week where he was off in the gallery and like, you know, he hits a shot, he's trying to walk to the rope line and everyone's swarming around him, and like Snedeker's trying to hit, but he's waiting and he's just watching. And even like Snedeker, who's been around Tiger for years, is like kind of taking a back and kind of jarred by just like the scene, like just the the madness. 00:30:12 Speaker 3: On eighteen and it was like it was like a music festival when Snedeker was hitting. Yeah, he was like hitting it. It was just like it was so loud it was crazy. 00:30:24 Speaker 2: You know, I got an appreciation for this week. I got an appreciation for the pro move of just taking extra practice swings and lining it up from different angles. You're for the whole purpose of just letting the crowd settle. Like you can tell guys, we're just taking extra swings, like not even trying to accomplish anything like but just having a kill time for the crowd to kind of settle. You know. 00:30:42 Speaker 3: The thing with Tiger two is he'll if you notice it when he hits it up to like a foot, he'll mark so that the crowd doesn't start moving, because he knows when he puts out the crowd will just go. And I noticed that a lot this week. 00:30:58 Speaker 2: Yeah, Sam Burns texted David Tom's who's like mentored him since he was a kid, because sam Son's they're friends with David's son, and like, one of the things David said is like, hey, if you can help it without breaking routine, like pot everything out, like just continue putting out until you hold it, because otherwise people just canna go nuts. 00:31:15 Speaker 1: Well he did today. He was I forget it was an approach shot or a Part three t shot. He waited for kind of like some player on an adjacent hole to play, like Tiger's Tiger's cognizant of it more than maybe even like his playing partners are, Like he's been doing it for so long. There's somebody on an adjacent hole going to play. Obviously, Tiger hits into a green, there's a good chance there's a roar, you know, some sort. So he kind of he waited an extra beat waiting for the guy to play and then hit into the green. 00:31:43 Speaker 3: All right, I'm taking back control. 00:31:45 Speaker 2: Of this pod too much, Tiger Rangy. 00:31:48 Speaker 3: Yeah, No, we're gonna we're getting into some of these questions we got okay, all right, Will Knights, you know, Frida Egg contributor here wants to know, for the next three seasons, would you rather have Tiger or Rory? I guess what. You're gonna respond the same way you resigned to the tweet as a golfer. 00:32:11 Speaker 1: Oh God, for the next three seasons. 00:32:13 Speaker 2: I'm gonna go Rory only because of the uncertainty of like I went really good thing golf died just once about fusion and that it puts more pressure on the discs around the fuse discs because now that's not moving the way it should. So, I mean, the guy's had a lot of surgeries. He's forty two years old. I'm gonna go Rory. I think Rory's little safer. 00:32:31 Speaker 3: Bet Um. 00:32:34 Speaker 1: That's a good question. Will's doing good work for you. By the way, I like his stuff. 00:32:39 Speaker 3: He's better, better writer than I am. 00:32:44 Speaker 1: I uh, I can't believe this is even like a question that I have to like think about, but I do. 00:32:50 Speaker 2: I don't know. 00:32:50 Speaker 1: I mean, it's very You're there's a lot of recency bias coming out of watch we've just watched, particularly with Rory. 00:32:57 Speaker 2: In my opinion, like Higer's beating Rory by eighteen shots, that's in the last six rounds, three round. 00:33:04 Speaker 1: I mean, I sometimes wonder if Rory's just cool being you know, I don't know, he doesn't feel like he needs to do a whole lot more. If it happens, it happens, but he's not going to like kill himself to do it, you know, Whereas Tiger I think already has basically you know, given his body up to try and do everything he can in the game. 00:33:25 Speaker 2: So I don't know. 00:33:26 Speaker 1: I mean after this week, I I uh, I like Tiger all right? For three years? Ship yeah, sure Tiger. 00:33:35 Speaker 3: Does it change if it's majors only? 00:33:41 Speaker 2: No, I feel like Tiger can wins six times next year. I might I'm going to Tiger. I'm not sure. 00:33:48 Speaker 1: Just is Rory Rory? Rory's only uh an Emarati player now he can only play Emirates and PGA. 00:33:57 Speaker 3: You know, so Rory really disappointed me with his ball stance. 00:34:03 Speaker 1: What do you say? He said? You know, it's just people guys are better athletes, right, notment. 00:34:08 Speaker 3: The problem is is like what a lot of guys like, Like, what Rory doesn't understand is if you roll back stuff, he would be even better. And that equipment keeps a lot of guys close to him that shouldn't be close to him. 00:34:22 Speaker 1: Who are you taking, Andy, it's your podcast. 00:34:26 Speaker 3: I'm the host. I don't have to answer. I'll take I'll take Tiger. 00:34:34 Speaker 2: You know. 00:34:36 Speaker 3: The Rory's inability to get it done inside one hundred and like twenty five yards being really bad inside one hundred and twenty five yards is not good. That's like you're not going to be a good And it's almost like his twenty fourteen season is now the outlier. 00:34:54 Speaker 1: Yep, like he's which is wouldn't this be even more reason why he should want to roll back so he can get you more, because like too many guys are too close to him with that like advantage distance advantage, Like we'll roll it back so you can a satuate that advantage. 00:35:08 Speaker 2: It fits him because the equipment gives an exponsial advantage to peopled higher swing speed, so it makes like their advantage even bigger. 00:35:14 Speaker 3: Yeah, but the the miss it's like it's like the nobody misses anymore, right, it's like it's impossible to miss with clubs, Like it's kind of rollback. 00:35:25 Speaker 2: We talking like forer Simmon, I don't know, I'm. 00:35:27 Speaker 3: Just I'm just I'm just pointing out like Rory's a guy that if of all the people, he should be like banging the rollback drum is but he gets paid to not, you know, bang a roll So we're done talking about this. This is not what we're going to talk about. If if the two were four clear to the field with three to play, who would Sean pull for in four weeks Dki or Tiger? And this is from the edlawer tracker. 00:35:58 Speaker 2: Tiger's good for business man. Yeah, I think, uh, next week Tiger. But then after Tiger gets his winn, Hideki, but we got to get that Tiger win. Come on, We're just we're hungry for it. 00:36:12 Speaker 3: Four weeks out Augusta. 00:36:15 Speaker 2: Oh oh at Augusta. Gosh uh, he's. 00:36:20 Speaker 1: Making between money or loyalty game. 00:36:23 Speaker 3: Changer right there talking about Augusta. It's kind of I mean, we haven't even had like Hideki and the mix really this season. 00:36:32 Speaker 2: There's been there since e've Ben Allison's Phoenix. He'll be back next week. The Tiger Hideki Duel is on tap. 00:36:38 Speaker 3: I mean the Augusta Like the favorites are stacked. You go down the list of guys, it's I mean, you gotta have you got JT and and DJ obviously Speath, Justin Rose is playing well. You got Tiger, you got Hideki. He always plays well. And then Casey's finished in the time six the last three years there. 00:37:03 Speaker 1: I saw, I was looking. I was curious about Casey's odds from forty to one to twenty five to one. You know, between Thursday and Sunday. It's hard to see him not being in the top twenty somewhere, you know it. 00:37:18 Speaker 2: For a first round sixty eight. Him and Justin roseill shoot sixty in the first round every year, Right, it depends what happens from there on out. 00:37:24 Speaker 3: If you guys were going to take somebody from outside the main group of of you know, favorite, who would it be? 00:37:34 Speaker 2: Ugh, I need to look they break out the Google machine, so outside. 00:37:41 Speaker 3: Like, yeah, just outside? He will say, just outside, like the ten favorite lots of typing preparation. 00:37:54 Speaker 1: Yeah, Bubba couture, Bubba's got to be a month ten favorites come on. 00:38:01 Speaker 2: It's funny though, cause the two. I mean, besides the two years he won, his record later is not good. I think like thirty seventh is like his second best or his best finished beside the wins. He's feast or famine. 00:38:13 Speaker 3: What about Tony Fino, I like that's an experience course. 00:38:18 Speaker 2: I mean he's gonna be making his debut, right it's his first. 00:38:21 Speaker 3: Song or never mind, so King louis the Mattress King. 00:38:26 Speaker 1: I mean it's hard. 00:38:27 Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, can't wait, definitely can't wait. 00:38:30 Speaker 3: It's not his first one either, it's his second. 00:38:33 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he was low amateur after hidekish hat a fun round eighty. 00:38:38 Speaker 3: It's pretty impressive. That can'tle is like one of the top ten driving distance guys. And he swings beeds like in the middle of the pack. He just hits it so so good it's crazy. 00:38:51 Speaker 1: Why didn't he play this week after? I mean he contended here last year. He just doesn't need to do with the whole Florida stuff that I don't think he plays. 00:38:58 Speaker 2: He still has to pick a spot because of the back back was really bad. I wonder if that's part of it. 00:39:02 Speaker 3: I think that is a big part of it. And it's like he's in the w gcs now, so he'll play those w gcs and and you know, playing he would have to play. He's not gonna play three out of four weeks. 00:39:15 Speaker 2: He's not like to chill too, man. He just likes to go home and sol and just chill out. 00:39:22 Speaker 1: What do you expect from Bayhill? Andy, Like, what do you really think Tiger's Well? Why how does that set up for Tiger? I mean it's just similar to. 00:39:32 Speaker 3: Just think about all the golf courses that Tiger is one at and they all are demanding from tea to green. 00:39:39 Speaker 2: Tiger has wide Bayhill has wide quarters. 00:39:41 Speaker 3: Not really there's water all over the place. 00:39:45 Speaker 2: There is, Yeah, there's a lot of holes that. 00:39:48 Speaker 3: Got some weird, there's some with but they're they're demanding tea to green and uh, I mean that's that's the thing. It's like because it goes back to this whole iron thing, like he can lay back, he can play more conservative than a lot of guys because he's the best iron player ever. 00:40:06 Speaker 2: And it has Andy's favorite team, the fifteenth, which was moving across the street. They have to stop traffic when guys. 00:40:14 Speaker 1: Over some hedges, Like. 00:40:17 Speaker 2: Wait the day when Tops went into the street, Well that happen so bad. 00:40:21 Speaker 1: I hit it over these big hedges. You hit over these hedges, and then that like like rich harvest farms, and there's traffic going back and forth. There's cops ducking below the hedges to stop the cars. You know. 00:40:34 Speaker 3: I had to take a chill pill this uh this week and and because I realized, like as much as the copper Head course kind of offends a lot of the things, they an offender of golf course architecture in so many ways, but it's like one of the better courses that the PGA tour places, which made me sad. 00:40:54 Speaker 2: Here's the thing that we talked about too, is that the way the copper Head is, I was hitting irons like five or six times off tas I's not more. I think it was six three would another three times. I mean he the only hole that he would hit driver on besides the part five's was nine. So that is one thing. And we talked to Noted this morning in preparation for the victory which didn't happen, And that was one thing noticed that even it's like he knows that you know, you can get it done, and it's broke with irons off the tee. But eventually you got to get the driver sort out a little. It's better. It's definitely better that this is aren't quite as bad. But he's got just sorted out. 00:41:32 Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it. And sure enough his first it was his first time he was actually like good with strokes gained off the tee. Was fourteenth in the field strokes gained off the tee this week. Usually he's in the hundreds. 00:41:47 Speaker 1: Well, yeah, just was he plus four to seven or something point four to seven? Then strokes gained in the positive off the tea. 00:41:55 Speaker 3: So might have been his first one, first tournament in the positive. But you know, he didn't have to hit driver a lot. That's probably still the big question. But Augusta, as Phil is shown, you don't really need to hit it that straight. 00:42:11 Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I think I think this is set up perfectly for him getting this rep then bay Hill and getting two weeks off, right. I mean, like match play is just I don't know, I'm over it. I I love Austin, love the city, love the course sounds fun. For match play, it's just I don't know, as an event has no juice with me right now. So I think, you know, it's a I think this could work out perfectly. I don't know if he'd qualified with the winn at bay Hill, but even if he. 00:42:38 Speaker 2: Did, that's how he cracked top fifty hill. 00:42:41 Speaker 1: Yeah, so even if he did, I don't know that he'd play it right. 00:42:46 Speaker 2: Yeah, three in a row, and then I wanted does he try to hey, two weeks off and go to Augusta. I guess what he used to do. 00:42:52 Speaker 3: He needs to get in the weight room. 00:42:54 Speaker 2: But then bay Hill bay Hill used to be I think it used to go bay Hill, Houston and then the Masters. I think so, Yeah, that extra week take do you take? Do you go to Augusta with two weeks off? I don't know what else you do? Either play Houston or go to go to Dominican. But he's not gonna play the week before. 00:43:12 Speaker 1: Let's take a couple extra weeks off, go up there, you know, check out the vibe, play some practice rounds in Augusta. 00:43:19 Speaker 3: You know, get in the way. 00:43:22 Speaker 1: One shot stocked up with monster. You're good. Just make sure all the preparations are made. Is that extra week. 00:43:30 Speaker 2: One shot that I did not see this week either was like the low nipping spinner. He hit chip shots off tight lives fine. You know, I'm not gonna go with like the chippings. Chipping is obviously good, but I don't know if it's the shot didnt feel comfortable yet or he just didn't meet it yet. But we didn't see like the you know, like the shot you saw at sixteen and Augusta when he beat De Marco, Like he didn't see the low spinner. 00:43:52 Speaker 3: No, because it's just a sea of rough at the copper Head core. There's only just some shots off everywhere. 00:44:00 Speaker 2: Yeah, but even the shots he had shortcrass on granted he didn't really need it, I don't think, but I haven't seen that shot yet anywhere. 00:44:06 Speaker 1: So now that we're talking about this, yeah, good Andy, what would you like to see his schedule be now that we kind of see or Sean obviously too well, now that we've seen he's kind of a he's a real competitive golfer. We think he could win this week ut Bay Hill. We thought he could have won this, you know, past week. Like, what is his schedule he used to be, you know, just try and stay healthy and keep it light. What what kind of events do you want to see him play after the Masters? I think we know where we're going before the Masters. 00:44:37 Speaker 2: Harbortown win by six or hit two iron all day. 00:44:41 Speaker 3: I think he'll go to uh Wells Fargo. 00:44:45 Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it'll be the old well It's pretty predictable. 00:44:47 Speaker 3: I think Wells Fargo players. And then I bet he takes a week off, he doesn't play the Nelfs, and I bet he takes two weeks off and then he plays Mirfield. Then he played He's not going to. 00:45:00 Speaker 2: Anti win. 00:45:02 Speaker 3: I well, it's just the realization like there's no way he's going to play. And then Nelson plays. Yeah, and I don't think he plays at Harbortown personally, just because he puts a lot of time into his prep for Masters. 00:45:21 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:45:22 Speaker 3: So then he then he plays US Open, the National. Yeah, he's got to play that. 00:45:31 Speaker 1: My neck of the ones. 00:45:32 Speaker 3: I'm going to go to that. 00:45:33 Speaker 1: I think, oh good. 00:45:36 Speaker 3: Then he'll play the Open Championship, then the Firestone and I got in. 00:45:46 Speaker 2: I mean he might be top let's say top fifty by Identify will. 00:45:49 Speaker 3: Be and then they'll play pg A. 00:45:52 Speaker 1: What's the one you'd want to see him play most that you don't think the honest schedule? Trinity? 00:45:59 Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, three is not gonna happen and he's right Trinity, Oh, he might play that Zurich too, who's his partner? 00:46:09 Speaker 1: Like we did with Chase Koepka getting noted a little spot in that field. 00:46:13 Speaker 3: I could see him being with Jason Day. 00:46:17 Speaker 1: Yea, what period twist facing too and fro. 00:46:23 Speaker 3: How have they not gotten rid of the FedEx Cup points for that team event? 00:46:28 Speaker 2: You got it point? What are you playing? I mean, you gotta have that scam. 00:46:33 Speaker 3: You can just cheat the system. 00:46:36 Speaker 2: You got what? 00:46:37 Speaker 3: No, it's I'm gonna I'm gonna go find some bubble guy that had meant he's got. 00:46:42 Speaker 2: Like four four ball victories in it's eighty two. 00:46:46 Speaker 3: What if there was one different style event format? What would you like to see? 00:46:54 Speaker 1: Oh, I'd like to see some uh uh like some sort of synergy with the LPGA type thing. I think it'd be cool to see different styles on the same course. Uh you know, a male and female partner partner of that. I don't know. See that long drive contest just everybody hit, everybody hits Volvic Bubba wood w d mm hmmm. 00:47:25 Speaker 2: I do wish we had like the All Star Game weekend with like all just skilled contests. 00:47:31 Speaker 3: That could be what about you, Sean, you got any alternate format ideas? 00:47:38 Speaker 2: I do like the hick Reopen, I know, that's what I was going to say. 00:47:45 Speaker 1: Where would they play that. 00:47:48 Speaker 2: Myopia Hunk Club? 00:47:50 Speaker 3: Yeah, anywhere? It's funny because I was thinking the same thing for that National Golf Links. 00:47:55 Speaker 2: Yeah, would be super woke. 00:47:59 Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that would be cool. But I probably, I actually really like that that golf sixes event they have in in Australia. 00:48:10 Speaker 2: What six is too short? 00:48:17 Speaker 3: Hater doesn't Sean Martin doesn't want to grow the game headlined nine golf nine all right, let's do golf threes, all right? Overrated? Underrated? Yeah, here we go Bayhill. 00:48:35 Speaker 1: Oh I've been the last two years. 00:48:41 Speaker 2: It's definitely not underrated. I think no one really mhm m m hmm. Yeah, come on, Rory likes her. 00:48:51 Speaker 1: Mister p A tour. 00:48:53 Speaker 3: Can't take Skirman Skirman in his seat. 00:48:59 Speaker 2: It's just it's I mean, it's it's mister Palmer's place. I mean the guy is. 00:49:06 Speaker 3: Course or tournament tournament. 00:49:08 Speaker 2: So here's here's my take. I think the tournament is underrated because it falls in a tough spot in the schedule for you know, the I think the tournament's underrated. I'm not a huge fan of the course. 00:49:22 Speaker 1: Yeah, it's hard to say it's it's hard to say it's underrated. Shoot, it gets certainly a lot of publicity for where it is. I mean, I think I really like where it is on the schedule, what it presents, its history, what it's all about. So I'm not gonna say it's overrated. I can't say it's overrated. 00:49:40 Speaker 3: It's overrated. They shouldn't get the three year exemption. That is. 00:49:47 Speaker 2: That rivier respect your elders here. 00:49:52 Speaker 3: It doesn't have a three year exemption and it's the best tour event every year. 00:49:56 Speaker 1: Yeah, making that's just putting us there. That's the PGA Tour trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Just like you know, we're gonna make the Memorial and Bayhill like have to be this thing where the person now is. We don't care if person's gonna be eight and a half million dollars even though it was like six before. And you're gonna get a three year exemption, Like it's a slippery slope. What are we gonna do next? Like the Nelson should get that he's a legend. What about you know, Hogan Colonial. You know what, I can't even get a title sponsor. But you know, I just think that that was not I'm not a fan of that moves nothing against bay Hill or Palmer. That's just the PGA to you know what. 00:50:34 Speaker 3: It kind of reminds me of a ceremonial tree planting program that a club would put in place. It's just setting you up for disaster. 00:50:46 Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean everybody then, everybody wants a piece of the pot. 00:50:49 Speaker 3: Everybody wants a tree. Everybody wants a tree. 00:50:53 Speaker 1: With Zurich too, I can't. I mean, I gotta imagine there's you know, thirty five other tournament directors that lost their minds and there got to do you know, the two man game and have a little fun with things. You know, like everybody wants to kind of switch it up and stand out from the crowd. So but yeah, that the Bayhill, the three year exemption Andy is ridiculous. 00:51:12 Speaker 3: What's the one tournament that you would want to see like propped up and become you know, kind of like how Valves Bar and Travelers have become big time events over the years. What's the one that you think should become the next big one? 00:51:30 Speaker 1: I think Colonial Colonial. For me, I think I think it's just like it's fall. It's got a crap spot on the schedule. It's like a week before Memorial and the US Open, so people aren't going to a lot of people are gonna play it. It's usually opposite the BMW PGA at Wentworth, so they're not getting like many of the euro guys. I just I think, you know, it's it's a fun track. It's a fun uh fun setting. You know, it's it's cool uh cool kind of crowd, and then you know there's a lot of history there. 00:52:02 Speaker 3: I love. 00:52:03 Speaker 1: I've been there a couple of times and just never been a bad time. And you're watching, you know, no offense. You're watching like Ken Duke and whatever, John you know, Merrick play you know for the lead for the like that's just it's always kind of like a la. 00:52:23 Speaker 3: The last two winners were and Kissner. 00:52:27 Speaker 1: It's gotten better, it's gotten better since when I was there, but it's always it's always like a great experience, even though the field's not too deep. So I think that should be elevated. 00:52:37 Speaker 2: I like the idea of Colonial. I really want Colonial to elevate. But it's just it's hard because that course, you know, technology has had its way with that course, and it's just it feels like it becomes an iron fest. 00:52:49 Speaker 1: It's off the tea's all with that making the hickory up. 00:52:53 Speaker 2: But I want guys hit drivers. I gotta gotta see drivers. I think I would go Nelson for the fact of like you said, it's got mister Nelson's name attached to it. Trinity, I think will be fun to watch something different. Obviously get some with and some angles, uh cold elevate. 00:53:10 Speaker 1: I think is that at Trinity now for the foreseeable future? Is that? 00:53:16 Speaker 3: Is that Trinity for I think they have a three year deal. I don't know the details actually, but uh yeah, so that'll be there. It'll be interesting. People are gonna I mean, there's gonna be if it's firm and fast. Some pros are going to get really mad about some stuff. 00:53:32 Speaker 1: But he's gonna get the mad use your pick to get you know, the most upset first that place. 00:53:41 Speaker 3: I could see Billy Horshell losing his mind just because he's like he's prone to losing his mind on Twitter, you know. So yeah, but uh, you know what event I want to see return to glory the Canadian Open. 00:53:59 Speaker 2: That's a good one. 00:53:59 Speaker 3: I'm a good one. I'm so sick of Glenn Abbey, Like I'm gonna personally go up there and try and shut that place down. 00:54:09 Speaker 2: Maybe well there's I think they it ended, but there was worries that it was going. 00:54:14 Speaker 3: To I know, I feel like it's still alive during. 00:54:20 Speaker 2: That place that they played it when was an amateur and he finished ninth shot up in Vancouver. Yeah, that place looks sick. Yeah, that's like one of these but looks pretty cool. 00:54:32 Speaker 1: You can't go from the British Open to Vancouver. 00:54:36 Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's that's part of all revitalizing the Canadian Open, which was having a Cabot Cliffs. It's the only it's like the only big national open that Jack Nicholas never won. Yeah, it's I mean the Canadian Open used to be a huge deal. 00:54:53 Speaker 2: How someone did with Big Syrup. 00:54:56 Speaker 3: I'm trying to get in with Canadians, you know these days RBC now and no, no, they. 00:55:03 Speaker 2: Having a BAM. I was so jealous with DJ got to go up there. I wanted to go there since that video game Links ninety three or whatever it was that plays with the elk and the huge rock face to hit into, and like, I'm looking forward to Golfer's Journal number three shadow Golfer's Journal. 00:55:19 Speaker 3: I haven't gotten mine yet, Yeah, I might. 00:55:21 Speaker 2: Always going for a week two weeks later. Not shout out Golfer Journal delivery system. 00:55:30 Speaker 1: What I mean is the Canadian Open, I mean, is it more prestigious now or less prestigious than the Indian Open this week? Hero Indian Open less prestigious. 00:55:41 Speaker 3: It's definitely less prestigious. 00:55:44 Speaker 2: That course looks like a video game. I want to play it just for. 00:55:46 Speaker 3: The novelty of it. 00:55:47 Speaker 1: That's what I mean. You know what it's so bad? It's good, you know, I like and he's talking about Copperhead like offensive sensibilities like those are all the subtlety, you know, subtle as like it. We get that kind of a not badness. We don't get the grandiose badness, you know, any hideousness of this Indian Open with the rock formations and these bunkers that are bunkers. 00:56:11 Speaker 2: Forty feet high maybe like seven. 00:56:16 Speaker 1: Overgrowth on top of these like fifteen foot twenty foot deep bunkers. I mean, that's why it's distinct. It sticks out if you're going to be really bad, just go. If you're going to have a bad course, just go really bad like that. 00:56:30 Speaker 3: I will agree. You know what it is the it's very bold in what it does because it takes like the manufactured look to the whole new level. Right, So it's unique. 00:56:45 Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. 00:56:46 Speaker 2: The best golf course of its kind, I think is what Garry Player used to say. 00:56:50 Speaker 3: All right, overrated, underrated. Francesco Mullinari. He's ranked twenty fourth in the world. 00:56:59 Speaker 1: Guy knows how to get his ranking. 00:57:02 Speaker 2: He hits it so straight sleep for bay Hill. He's playing. 00:57:07 Speaker 1: He's optimized for everything. Guys like deep in the stats, deep into like just knows where to get his world ranking points. 00:57:14 Speaker 2: I mean he's you're about you're getting your mixed up? Oh yeah's deep with Brody. 00:57:22 Speaker 1: I am thinking. 00:57:24 Speaker 2: I missed man Dodo actually for a runner up a bab you know I missed Dodo. 00:57:30 Speaker 3: Hey what about Bryson having back problems? I was I was watching when he you know, w ded and I was thinking, he's got to talk to Louis. 00:57:41 Speaker 1: Mattress problems. 00:57:42 Speaker 2: That problems are no joke. And the problem is once once you get him. They don't go away. You can maintain him. 00:57:47 Speaker 3: But I thought he said he got a bad night's sleep and that's what caused it. 00:57:52 Speaker 1: That what it was is one plane swing. You know, he's got to find a new plane to operate on. 00:58:01 Speaker 2: You know, Francesca has only played four times this year. Also, he's on like a tiger schedule. 00:58:05 Speaker 1: He's probably played the match play, right, I think. So, I mean that guy, that guy just knows how to always be inside the top, you know, thirty or fifty in the world, king of the eighteenth place finish. 00:58:18 Speaker 3: Who'd you guys take in the Ryder Cup if it started this week? 00:58:25 Speaker 2: Which side? 00:58:26 Speaker 3: Yeah? 00:58:27 Speaker 2: In France. I was pretty proud of my tweet that there were as many US captains in the top twenty as were Europeans. 00:58:36 Speaker 1: Out of your tweet, that's always a good way to start it. 00:58:39 Speaker 2: Sound well, it was a bad day on Twitter, so we had. 00:58:44 Speaker 1: We need to talk about shirt gate in a minute. I would take I would take the Europeans. I think they're still just as deep and playing on home soil, and I don't know, I think they're in perfectly fine shape. We saw today Sergio Casey Rory may not be what they want. But I think they're they're perfectly deep enough. 00:59:08 Speaker 2: I think Lake Gulf Nationale and Fall is going to be lush and thick rough and they're going to slow greens. I gotta take Europe. If it was in the US, I would take the US, but it's in Europe, so I'm going Europe. 00:59:20 Speaker 3: Yeah, I take Europe too, I always, I always take Europe. 00:59:23 Speaker 1: Though. 00:59:24 Speaker 3: When's the cutoff for the top fifty for the Masters. 00:59:29 Speaker 1: After match play Monday? After match play? 00:59:32 Speaker 3: You dea Akaida is sitting in forty ninth right now? 00:59:36 Speaker 2: Yeah, Satosha couldire up there as well, a couple of Japanese players. 00:59:39 Speaker 1: I think Akida's already already qualified. 00:59:42 Speaker 2: Actually, we're in top fifty. I think is not the big one is Dylan for Telly? Yeah he's not Smith. 00:59:51 Speaker 3: He's up for Telly's up to fiftieth or forty fifth, and Smith's up to fiftieth, So I bet both. 00:59:58 Speaker 2: It's going to shoutout world rank. It's currently two forty six am and England and they updated them Tigers at one forty nine the world ranking. 01:00:07 Speaker 3: That's Lee Westwood is not gonna be in the Masters this year. 01:00:12 Speaker 2: Patton, because I are fifty first. I don't think he is yet. No, he won twice more. 01:00:17 Speaker 3: Yeah, that's uh. I'm sad. It's the end of the West. 01:00:22 Speaker 2: Some of the big news out of vaalas bar Adam Scott working with George yankis the Instagram. 01:00:27 Speaker 3: I saw that at riv Yeah, I like almost threw up. 01:00:34 Speaker 2: Also, Adam Scott fifty six right now, still trying to get that shinnacock getting into. 01:00:40 Speaker 1: Shinny Scott is not exact right now, not to Shinny. 01:00:48 Speaker 2: I'm just waiting to how Shanny board Andy le shiney. Yeah, what do you mean? 01:00:55 Speaker 1: Are you you gets that shorthand? 01:00:57 Speaker 2: No shinnacock, you're not. Oh, pures hate it? I hate it? Uh, Peter U line sixty two not in the Masters enough time. I don't know enough of right, he's a match way. He'll probably play bay Hill and match play. There's you need some points there. 01:01:17 Speaker 3: All right, I'm gonna call this, call this thing. 01:01:22 Speaker 2: Right now, escape without going into shirt. That's good. 01:01:26 Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to talk about Shirt. 01:01:27 Speaker 3: Kase, what do you want? What do you want to talk about? No? 01:01:31 Speaker 1: Good, No, you can talk Sean. You know many of your people are saying you're the the foremost propagator of fake news these days. 01:01:42 Speaker 2: It was unfortunately that when is viral way, So what happened? 01:01:45 Speaker 1: I'm not looking at it right now. There's thirteen hundred retweets. What happened? How the shirt? So Sean's tweeted, you know, with great vipp and bigger then the bigger about Tiger wearing a solid aid blood red shirt. And then moments later he's on TV and there's stripes everywhere, all sorts. 01:02:05 Speaker 2: Of stripes, and so what I was going for, I don't remember. It was like, oh nine. He used to do these like black shirts with like hinted like red stripes. He like he would do. I mean, even like when he beat Ernie a Cappalua, he had one of those shirts, and I was more referring to those. But we saw him in the parking lot and you know, it's bright red, you can see it from fifty yards away, and then he zips by in the car and there's no stripes on the back. Yeah, so you know it looks I mean, it's just like red and black nineteen eighty seven. Just and even in my head, I'm like, well, what if there was some pattern I didn't see on the front, and then I still went with it. I should have said we're going blood red today. But yeah, because like there was a period there where I mean he would almost like black shirts with just hints of red, and this one was I mean, this was red. This was bold. He's making a statement today. 01:02:53 Speaker 1: Well, did anyone correct you on Twitter that you were wrong? Well? 01:02:57 Speaker 2: A lot of people did. There were some good ones. There were some good ones. Some people, you know, were lighthearted about it. Some people just you know, fake news, bias media. I appreciate though that the people that after the telecass was on and they were very obviously stripes, people still went with it. I mean, the fact of the matter is there's those black stripes. They're hard to see in the bright sunlight. It's easier to see in the cameras because they make it look much lighter than it appears. But it was a strong red shirt. He was making a statement. 01:03:28 Speaker 3: You know, the Valsar trophies underrated. 01:03:33 Speaker 1: It's like a paint stroke, right, Yeah. 01:03:36 Speaker 3: It kind of reminds me of a euro Tour. It's like a kind of reminds me of like the Qatar Master's Trophy. The euro Tours trophies are so much better than the US than THEA Tour. Yeah you know that sean overrated and underrated PGA Tour trophies. 01:03:56 Speaker 2: They've got the chickens, the Rooster Rouster. 01:04:01 Speaker 1: That same same guy who did the rooster does the vals bar on? 01:04:04 Speaker 2: Really? Yeah? Get back signed? Underrated thatack guy. 01:04:07 Speaker 1: Yeah, got some intel on that. 01:04:10 Speaker 2: Uh what long form on that? 01:04:12 Speaker 3: Big Big Keith Pelly is probably listening and he's probably gonna sign him up to do exclusive euro Tour trophies. 01:04:19 Speaker 1: Now I'm waiting on the euro Tour trophy. I think the PGA Tour. Uh, I can't claim, you know, the crown just because they wore the CJ Cup was a plaque. 01:04:31 Speaker 2: No, so what that is? That's every player in the field's name in Korean. Then they like Bowld the guy who wins. 01:04:39 Speaker 1: All right, I'm telling you the event is called the c J Cup and the trophy is not a cup. It's all right, So you don't I mean, just that nullifies the entire forty nine events schedule. You know what needs to go to the cup and you're giving out a plaque A piece. 01:04:54 Speaker 2: By Hill used to go out the sword. 01:04:55 Speaker 3: No jackets, No more jackets, there's a green jacket. No other championship gets to give out jackets. I'm so sick of the. 01:05:05 Speaker 2: Start that cardigan tradition. That was pretty cool. 01:05:08 Speaker 1: We have the cardigan. 01:05:09 Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, they just I don't know if that will work with. 01:05:13 Speaker 1: It worked okay with you know, Mark Leishman's physique paunch, but I don't know if it'll work with kind of like you know, Rory's and some blade or tigers and some yoked out blade collar and they want to put this no baggy kind of pacho of a cardigan around it, and. 01:05:30 Speaker 3: Can we talk about Tiger. He was wearing a T shirt today that was not even a blade collar. It was a T shirt. 01:05:39 Speaker 1: It is kind of like workout here, you know, played collars. 01:05:46 Speaker 3: It's not even a blade collar, it's a T shirt. 01:05:49 Speaker 2: It was definitely fitting. He was definitely trying to show off some physique. 01:05:54 Speaker 1: I could always talk about the blade collar, you know. On Thursday, yeah, I think it was Thursday, he had on three different kinds of collars. When it was chilly out. He had on a blade he had the mock turtle, then a blade over it, and then like a crew neck sweater. It's kind of like, you know, exploring new frontiers of the collar game. 01:06:17 Speaker 3: A ski resort. 01:06:19 Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it was cold out here. Uh good performance honestly though, on of course he hasn't played in two decades. Swirling wing, narrow corridors. I thought that was impressive. 01:06:39 Speaker 1: Yeah, I would concur I would agree. 01:06:43 Speaker 3: So how much hey, over under one and a half wins for Tiger this year? Uh? 01:06:49 Speaker 2: The only down he's not gonna he doesn't play them much. I'm gonna go and he plays hard events. I'm gonna go over, I'm gonna. 01:06:57 Speaker 1: Go two under one. I just I like, we just tried to go through his schedule. It's just not that heavy and it doesn't need to be. 01:07:05 Speaker 2: But I think one. 01:07:09 Speaker 3: Who's gonna have more wins him or Rory this year. 01:07:15 Speaker 1: He just gets going. I mean, do you count your tour? Yeah, I say they both win once. 01:07:24 Speaker 2: I like that though, I say you win. 01:07:30 Speaker 3: All right. He'll probably play like the Scottish Open, won't He like the Irin. He might play the Irish the one the week before because it goes Irish than Scottish then open, right, Yeah, that's kind of like the Scottish Open the way Stephen Britain shout out their super gets it playing firm and fast. 01:07:56 Speaker 2: That guy, that guy pretty easy waiting, firm and fast. 01:08:02 Speaker 3: Yeah, so he got that place ejecting people last year. It was actually one of my most fun I thought, most underrated tournament last year. 01:08:11 Speaker 1: If you come to town, let me know, we'll have dinner and a drink. 01:08:15 Speaker 3: All right, all right, we're done, you guys. Just what are you guys? 01:08:21 Speaker 1: Right? 01:08:21 Speaker 3: Do you guys have anything good going up today? Tomorrow? Today? 01:08:25 Speaker 2: I wrote to call him on just it wasn't really call him. It's more of a kind of a gamer on his day. I saw a Porter tweet went out that of course people are getting fired up about so excited to read that one Porter has a good takes. I'm more of a newsy kind of guy. And then I'm gonna write some about going forward. We'll go from here. But it's man, I saw him poor before we started. Thinking it's hard to write Tiger every day. 01:08:49 Speaker 1: What I mean, I agree with that, but not like coming out of this one. I don't know. I mean, yeah, i'll have I'll have I'll have some notes up tomorrow kind of working morow longer stuff on him for the Masters, which I'm told people care about a lot, so I'll do some notes, amalgamation of takes and for the for the morning. 01:09:11 Speaker 3: All right, you guys, have a good night, have a good one. Yeah bye. You've been listening to the Fried Egg podcast. We do the digging for you.
