I'll make them pay. 00:01:18 Speaker 5: Usually you don't mess up. 00:01:19 Speaker 3: When you got that, I got distracted. I was thinking about the dollar wings because I can't eat them because of this uh speak event. You can't eat anything right now? Yeah, they let me. 00:01:29 Speaker 4: The doctor said I could have one more uh diet coke before. 00:01:34 Speaker 3: Noon noon and then cut it off and then it's all water water juice like, but only clear. Everything has to be clear, yeah, right, like you can get I have gay rade zero, but it's got to be frost flavors, you know, it has to. Everything has to be clear. Is your stomach yelling at you yet? 00:01:49 Speaker 6: Because it's gonna be I don't start taking this stuff, and is that gonna to be fine? 00:01:54 Speaker 3: I'm you know what, just uh uh billy yet last night just opened the shit. 00:02:00 Speaker 4: Oh but like you're just so skinny. I don't even see you anymore. 00:02:04 Speaker 3: And I was like, well that's nice he was, and he made some little sny comments, so I kind of like, but you need to do exactly what he said it was something like that, and I was saying, you know what, Billy, shut up, So yeah, that'll I'm gonna have to get to New Will. 00:02:20 Speaker 5: You're gonna lose weight the next twenty four hours, there's no doubt. 00:02:23 Speaker 3: So yeah, I didn't feel like eating last night after watching that game. I think the first half was one of the worst UK halves in a long time. I mean, I don't know that. I can't remember a game where where we were out of it quicker with no chance to come back. You know, we we were we were done. 00:02:43 Speaker 4: There was no two minutes left in the first half. 00:02:46 Speaker 3: Game was was over over. It was the most we were down at halftime since the game after neurals Noel got hurt in twenty thirteen. And I remember that game distinctly, watching it and going we're we're done, like this is no shot now. You know. 00:03:03 Speaker 4: They did play better in the second half, cut it to eleven. At one point. 00:03:07 Speaker 3: I wish they could have gotten it to single digits just to see if everybody would have you know, but didn't come to that, and we ended up losing by what was it, seven fourteen. I don't know what you say, total breakdown defensively a disaster offensively pretty much in the first half, everyone but a Maria disaster. Second half, Robinson and Oway played really well, but still just not a great effort, right it was. 00:03:36 Speaker 5: It was an embarrassing on the offensive end that first half. How many two footers did they miss? Two footer after two footer after two footer. 00:03:43 Speaker 3: I think they missed seven shots within two feet in the first half. And but I will say it wasn't like they just rimmed. I mean they were bad. Some of them were bad shots. Back to the basket Garrison shots on three out of four plays, oh way, trying to make a layup with four guys on. I mean there's a little bit of that. Yeah, they were close, but it wasn't like they were great shots to begin with. 00:04:04 Speaker 5: And first have a lot of really bad turnovers. But of course we're gonna get into on a but the defensive end in the first half, I mean, we were leaving those guys wide open. And when the guy can sit, doesn't even jump the set shooting shot. Guy just just killing us wide open. 00:04:18 Speaker 3: He shot like the oldest man at the YMCA like foot I mean, didn't he But but we didn't even like go out on him, didn't him? We left Amari and Garrison left three bigs like just. 00:04:32 Speaker 4: Looking at him, like, how you doing out there? 00:04:34 Speaker 3: Man? 00:04:34 Speaker 4: I mean, here's one thing. 00:04:35 Speaker 3: To give people shots, it's another thing to not even fathom contesting it, like to just go here you go? I mean, you leave somebody that open, A lot of people can make it. 00:04:44 Speaker 6: Yeah, it looked like Ole Miss was in an open gym, just the five of them taking turns getting shots up. I mean there was no defense whatsoever. They weren't even having to work at all to get open looks. It's like they were just out there having phoning. So they were out the Hamburg wild this morning, just some shots up before work. 00:05:01 Speaker 3: A UK did nothing. 00:05:02 Speaker 6: Even when they would like half ass close out, they were closing out on threes without putting their hands up. 00:05:07 Speaker 3: I've not even seen that. Yeah, well what are you even doing? 00:05:10 Speaker 6: Like absolutely no effort defensively in that first tear. 00:05:14 Speaker 3: It was awful. It was awful, and it's kind of unexplainable to me why it would be that bad. I mean, I can understand, Okay, your guarding the guy. He's faster faster than you, he gets to the basket, But I've never seen people look more out of swords, and I mean there were some historic things that happened last night, But I mean, think about this. There were three things that if you saw one of these in a game, you would go wow. Amari had the fourth triple double in UK history. Yep, good for him. Yeah, I don't know that it's we won people all the people love. I mean, yeah, fourth triple double in UK history in a loss. Yeah right, He joins Chris Mills dearon Fox and Isaiah Brisco throwing Maury Williams in that. 00:06:02 Speaker 4: What a bizarre list of humans that is that happens? 00:06:07 Speaker 3: We get ole miss only has one turnover, Yes, only the second time in twenty five years an SEC team has done that in a game. In an SEC game, Ansley Leanor and Trent Noah do something that has not happened at Kentucky since two thousand and nine, and they both do it in the same game, which is played more than ten minutes, and not register a statistic. 00:06:37 Speaker 4: None, nothing, no anything, not even a. 00:06:40 Speaker 3: Foul, not even a foul Almanor for fifteen minutes, Noah for thirteen minutes. We haven't had a player play more than seven minutes and do that since nineteen ninety one. Wow, and we've only had one guy play nine minutes. That was Perry Stevenson in two thousand and nine. As far as the numbers go, no one can ever find it happening for someone that played over ten minutes. And we had two guys do it last night. That's Drew. That's insane. 00:07:12 Speaker 6: On a night there was a triple double the fours in history, they somehow found a harder stat to pull off. 00:07:17 Speaker 3: To have those two do that. 00:07:19 Speaker 6: In the same game. I mean, the numbers are there, that's never happened before. I thought Amar doing the fourth time ever was wild. You have two guys register a twenty eight trillion playing fifteen and thirteen million. 00:07:29 Speaker 3: Two guys who did something that we can't find any Kentucky player doing ever, and they did it in the same game. 00:07:36 Speaker 4: That's that's amazing it is. 00:07:41 Speaker 3: And yet you know, Jackson Robinson shot over fifty percent from the field. 00:07:46 Speaker 5: He played well, Ohay had a deep pretty really good. 00:07:49 Speaker 4: Sad but it's a bad loss. 00:07:52 Speaker 3: And you know after the game, the Mark Pope radio press conference or Mark Resimi radio interview with Tom Leech was just odd. He almost acknowledged he didn't really know what to do. I think, I mean, I give him, I really give him a lot of credit. I think he's unbelievably honest in terms of like he's not gonna just be as it's and he basically said, we gotta figure something out. 00:08:20 Speaker 4: I don't know what it is, but we gotta figure something out. 00:08:22 Speaker 5: Yeah, he said. I think he used a phrase. We're hemorrhagene right now, you know. I think he said, we got to find out how to fix it now. 00:08:29 Speaker 6: I liked his honesty, but at the same time, it's like, all right, let's get some answers, because he said in the press conference it was almost his answer to every question. I've done a poor job. I've failed them. I don't have the answers right now. And I like that he looks in the camera and admits that and he's being authentic. But right now, we need some answers soon. 00:08:45 Speaker 3: Like I've always like when I watch politicians, I've always said, I wonder why politicians don't just sometimes say I. 00:08:54 Speaker 4: Don't know, but we're gonna figure it out. 00:08:56 Speaker 3: And I've always because I thought I would respect that, because they always act like they know him everything nobody knows everything, and most people don't know anything, right. So I've always been like, I wonder if you would if what happened, if you would get up and go, you know, I'm not sure, let me check and we'll get back with you. Yeah. Right. I thought that would be inspiring. But then Mark did that, and part of me was like, well, lie to me, make me feel better, you know, which I don't think I believe that, but it was interesting to hear somebody go, yeah, I don't know, and you're like. 00:09:31 Speaker 4: Oh, well, I was hoping you knew. 00:09:34 Speaker 5: Isn't as simple as they just don't. Lamont Butler's that's valuable to the team. 00:09:39 Speaker 4: I think that's obviously that's a big part of it. 00:09:43 Speaker 3: But they did beat Gonzaga in Tennessee without him, and I'm not saying that that means they should win, but Lamart Butler or not, you shouldn't give up ninety eighth on the heels of letting Arkansas score eighty nine, right eight. 00:10:01 Speaker 6: I think there's a bit of an overreaction to all this because they've lost two point guards, and I think that heard him against Arkansas, Vandy and Alabama last night. I don't have the Butler excuse. That's the first game of the Butler draft where I don't think you can just say it was him. I don't think he would have been much help because it was just pure effort. Now, unless he's out there yelling at everyone and he's a leader that gets it out of him, maybe that would have helped. 00:10:23 Speaker 3: Butler wasn't the issue. 00:10:24 Speaker 6: You don't think they had effort No, that first That's honestly the first time maybe in my life, I've wanted to change the channel and do something else because I just when it's defense and you're just watching guys shoot threes, that's different than getting beat. Maybe your shots aren't going in last night was different from me. 00:10:40 Speaker 3: It was just pure. 00:10:41 Speaker 6: That first half was guys just taking open shots for twenty The second. 00:10:44 Speaker 3: Half, I actually thought we played pretty good defense and then they hit contested shots. I mean that they they to some extent in the second half. Some of that was that they were good. But in the first half, I think if you go back and watch I said this during the postgame show, and then as I was a falling asleep, I went back and looked at the play, Go watch the play where they where they went zone and if that doesn't look like a team that was baffled. Go watch that play where that because we know we've all said let's play one three one. Presumably they worked on it because of the Arkansas game. Go watch that play. When they get in the one three one zone, all five guys are looking at each other and not exactly sure where to go. They're they're they're talking, and they're pointing, and it's like, not one of the five seem to think they were in the right place. Car got all the way turned around, Car, Car, Car on that play was facing in the weirdest direction. No, I mean it, like, Okay, so act like you're for those of you on radio, act like you're playing defense. You would face the middle court line. Yeah, right, right, Car is on the right wing of the one three one. If you're in that position, your body should either be facing the mid court line or open to your right to chase that side of the goal. Right. Yeah, he was open to the left. Okay, think about that. He was faced towards the other side of the court and didn't know anyone was behind him, and. 00:12:20 Speaker 5: There was a guy behind him who drilled a three with cars back. 00:12:24 Speaker 3: Honestly, was like, is does he use the play is happening right now, and then of course the guy ends up wide open and hits a three. That play said, and by the way, Pope did not go back to it one play. Probably that's why, because they were baffled. You know. 00:12:38 Speaker 5: After the Alabama game, he did say he wished he would take more risk defensively, don't do that. Maybe this was one thing he thought he could try. But after he tried it, obviously it didn't work. 00:12:47 Speaker 3: I mean, the guy was like, there wouldn't anybody near him when he shot that. 00:12:51 Speaker 5: You're right, they did hit some contested shots in the second half. 00:12:56 Speaker 3: Way over, the game was over at half. To I know, we made the little run, but the game was over at halftime. 00:13:01 Speaker 6: Offensively, they played well in the second half. They just could not get a single stop for it to really matter. I mean, they had a big run where they were scoring just one after another, but they were giving it up on the other end, so it wasn't really doing much damage on the scoreboard. 00:13:11 Speaker 5: So now what gotta beat South Carolina on Saturday. 00:13:15 Speaker 3: You have to, But just in general, like how much confidence do you have for the rest of the year. 00:13:24 Speaker 5: I mean, it's definitely taking a hit. You know, I'm thinking now they're gon gonna struggle to even have a winning record in the SEC. They may have a losing record in the SEC. 00:13:32 Speaker 3: Mate. 00:13:32 Speaker 6: Yeah, I just for what I see is the problem. It's like intensity and toughness. And I don't know how you flipped that switch on February fifth. 00:13:40 Speaker 3: But didn't you. I felt like that was something they had in abundance. 00:13:43 Speaker 6: I thought so too, But I mean there's guys just not even trying defensively, and if they are trying it, they're just awful at it because it's not looking like it. 00:13:50 Speaker 3: Jimmy Dykes for all the people that like though I thought he said it at the end of the first half, towards the end of the first half, when we were just getting rocked, he said, this is not an elite athletic team. 00:14:02 Speaker 4: You have to win with execution and effort. 00:14:07 Speaker 3: He's right, yeah, And we're not executing or playing with one hundred percent effort, and we're not talented enough to just wish ourselves through it. And if we do that, I mean, I hope that's not I hope we don't have more of those. But do we know that we. 00:14:22 Speaker 5: Won't No, I think the answer is, we don't know at this point. And we're still without Butler for a couple more weeks. I mean, they've I don't know what the answer is. 00:14:32 Speaker 3: I'm really surprised. I'm really surprised at the last two games. Yeah, every game up till now, I felt like I at least understand why it happened. You went to Georgia, we couldn't hit a shot right, went to Vandy, couldn't get a stop down the stretch. Alabama's just better than us. Okay, But the last two games, I feel like I'm watching a different team than I watched in the first however many twenty and that I don't really understand, and I I I don't know. Well, I mean, I'm I'm I'm not giving up. The good thing is they can still get hot. I mean, I mean, we're for all our talk, they did score fifty one points in the second half, and they can still put it up. But I don't know. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, We'll take a break, take your calls. Uh, we'll talk about this. I'm gonna talk about some other stuff because I can't just be bummed all day. It's wings Day. We'll be right back. It's KIA. Sorry, welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, one person writes on the text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five For Matt, there was no hustle. That's about work ethic. This is the first game they haven't put forth any effort at all. I don't want to say there was no effort. I don't necessarily believe that, but I do think. I pointed out a play on the post game show Ryan Where and I thought Jackson Robinson actually played really well, but I'm just using it as example. It was towards the end of the first half. The ball kind of pops out and it's at the top of the key, and he reaches for the ball, but like almost sees that he's about to get hit and backs away, and the old miss guy comes in full steam, gets it, comes down the court layup, and if he had there would have been a collision if Robinson came in, but the old miss guy was willing to risk and get the collision, and Jackson Robinson stood back and guess what, the old miss guy gets the ball. 00:16:26 Speaker 5: You know that's something you know that that wanted juice as we used to call it. You know, you gotta want to go get the basketball. I think has affected him in rebounding. Get you gotta want to rebound, you don't want to go get the ball. We saw some a couple times last night. We're in the post. One guy just stepped in front of Andrew Carr. Didn't even you know, Andrew car what he was trying to block in. The guy just kind of stepped in front of him. So a lot of it is this effort. 00:16:46 Speaker 3: What do you think about Jimmy Dyke saying he thought they looked lackluster in the walkthrough and earlier in the. 00:16:52 Speaker 4: Day, Yeah, he did say that. 00:16:53 Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I could believe it with how that first half started. I don't know what Pope's doing or not doing to be such bad starts. I mean, even in the big wins they were second half comebacks. I mean it seems most games they get off to a slow start. 00:17:08 Speaker 3: Yeah. So yeah, I don't know when person says Matt, your first caller on the postgame show, was right, you guys are not being critical enough of Pope. I thought you were too critical of t cal Now you're not critical enough of Pope. That doesn't make sense. I mean, okay, let me counter that with this one next comment, Matt, you are way too negative. It's one game. It's one game. Pope got this. This is why it's hard to play here. Everybody questions the coach too much. Well, so, first of all, I mean, I don't know how you answer both those questions. I am very positive about the overall direction of the program. I still think I still think everything is positive. I think these last two games, though, have been terrible, and I don't know how we can say otherwise. I mean, the day you're okay with Kentucky losing to a one in six sec team at home, right and then being down twenty three at halftime for the first time since twenty thirteen on the road, there is a part of me that says, what Mark Pope said to me in his office, this isn't Kentucky. If you think that's cool, I mean, it's not like if you think a losing team coming into Rup and beating you and leading pretty much the whole game, and then you following that up with the biggest halftime deficit in twelve years is fine. Then it's not Kentucky. Then it's you know whatever, Oklahoma. 00:18:36 Speaker 6: Yeah, throw in it's what have been four out of five lost? 00:18:39 Speaker 3: Yeah? 00:18:39 Speaker 4: Four five. 00:18:40 Speaker 3: It's only the second time we've lost four out of five since two thousand and nine. 00:18:44 Speaker 4: I mean, you know that's not good. 00:18:48 Speaker 6: They very well and we're expected to lose. 00:18:51 Speaker 3: Last night. 00:18:51 Speaker 6: They were an underdog. And if they had gone down there and you get beat on a buzzer beater or lose by three, that okay, you swallow that pill and come home. Average is like seventy six points a game. I had ninety eight points. And as crazy as the triple double and the twenty eight trillion are, I think twenty four assists to one turnover is crazy, as though if the four of us went to a gym and just passed it around, we would dribble it off our knee out of bounds and find turnovers with no defense, Like, how do you not have one two turnovers in a single basketball game? Played forty minutes with one turnover? And that is just you're not being guarded there. 00:19:27 Speaker 5: One turnover was the dude just kind of lost the handle out on the top of the key. 00:19:30 Speaker 3: That was it. 00:19:31 Speaker 5: It was not even like it was a force turnof I mean, you know, and he just kind of just lost the handle of it. 00:19:35 Speaker 3: So is it fixable? Let me answer that two questions. I think we would all agree if Butler comes back, this is better. 00:19:46 Speaker 4: Yes, fair enough. 00:19:47 Speaker 3: Yeah, let's say he doesn't. 00:19:51 Speaker 4: Then what. 00:19:53 Speaker 5: I'm like you, We've seen how they can play without him. How did they win at Tennessee without him? They found some kind of way to play well. 00:19:59 Speaker 3: At they were Gonzaga without Kenzaga. 00:20:02 Speaker 5: Withoudy, and they found a way to and played really well, had that good second half comeback. 00:20:05 Speaker 3: So it's in him. And even at Vandy we lost, but we were in it. I mean it was you know, it was not a what I don't know what's happened these last two games. He is obviously a big hit. 00:20:17 Speaker 6: Any team in the country that lost two point guards would be losing a bunch of games. But that has not explain how Kobe Brada seemed to disappeared. How I mean a lot of guys to have regressed. I mean, Brandon Garrison doesn't seem to be playing as well as he was earlier in the year. Uh, the three point shooting isn't nearly what it is supposed to be. The percentage is actually good. They're not getting it, but we're just not taken and they should be taken even more. Right now, Say, if I had one question. 00:20:40 Speaker 3: For Pope, I would say, you said at the beginning of the year, thirty to thirty five threes. His words were, we have to shoot thirty to thirty five threes or we're not gonna be good. That was exactly what he said. We've only done that in three of the nine games, and in six of the nine game the other team has taken more than us. Uh, how like, how we're not good? Let me say we're not good enough to beat people with twos. There are teams that are good enough to do it. We're not one of them, right right, We're not one. We're not good enough to beat teams with twos. I don't understand why we're not taking these. I mean again, we shot forty eight percent last night from three. 00:21:23 Speaker 4: We can hit them. 00:21:25 Speaker 3: He's gotta take them. 00:21:26 Speaker 6: He's got to change his offense a little bit to get guys open, because what was working against Bucknell and Georgia State against defenses like that, is not working now. His dribble handoff and the back door cut. They gotta start setting some screens for Brea because when he you see him, he gets the body dribbles. He's trying so hard to get a shot off, but he just can't create for himself. 00:21:43 Speaker 3: They're not kidding. 00:21:44 Speaker 6: They're not getting the looks that they were getting at one time, and they're not gonna get those anymore because this is the SEC and they're getting up in their face. 00:21:50 Speaker 3: And it may be that the offensive style that you play, so like, the Big Twelve's a great conference, probably was the best conference in basketball last year, but the totality of the conference is not as athletic as this one. This conference, even the bad players are great athletes. Yeah right, we are the most unathletic team in the conference. 00:22:13 Speaker 4: I don't even think that's a debate. 00:22:15 Speaker 3: Now, we're better than a lot of teams, but we're the most unathletic, and we have to play a style to counter these athletes. We cannot out athlete these guys. 00:22:25 Speaker 5: Because it's botheringis these guys coming up Old. 00:22:30 Speaker 3: Miss and Arkansas are an example what I'm talking about. 00:22:34 Speaker 4: I mean, Arkansas has great athletes. 00:22:36 Speaker 3: But not great skill but we have, but we can't get shots off against these teams. And that's and yet we still score eighty four, which says to me, if we could just get some open shots, we'll win these games. 00:22:50 Speaker 6: Even some of the threes they were making weren't good offense. I mean, Jackson Robinson pull up from like thirty feet he made it, but I mean, you can't count on that too costly. 00:22:57 Speaker 3: All right, we will take your calls. A five nine two eight h two eighty seven. This is KSR. 00:23:02 Speaker 4: TJ. 00:23:03 Speaker 3: Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them pay. 00:23:07 Speaker 2: No more of Kentucky Sports Radio present it by Stockton Mortgage. 00:23:10 Speaker 3: Here's Matt Jones, welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio eighty five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. I'm gonna read this and just so you know, Mario, this is a text on the text machine. This is me, isn't me, although I might agree with the sentiment, but I'm deflecting it from me. Okay, it's not you. Yes, one person writes Matt. When I saw Kentucky go zone, it was at the same time Trump said we were gonna go to Gaza and take it over. I couldn't decide which was the worse idea. At least we got out of the zone quickly. They comment, Hey, five nine, twenty two eighty seven, Bucks trade Chris middle Middleton to the Wizards for Kyle Kuzma. Here you go. I don't even think that's worth of breaking. 00:23:58 Speaker 5: Than you esp then went away from the A D. Luca trade. It's all they've been talking about for forty eight hours. They actually did something else. 00:24:08 Speaker 3: See, I thought that that Texter was gonna have the hottest take of this segment, and now Ryan living with a hotter take. It's up. First said, let's go to Justin. Justin, go ahead, Justin. 00:24:20 Speaker 7: Yes, I have two things. The first thing is effort. When it comes to effort, we have no effort on defense. And then when it comes to offense, when we have actual ball pressure applied to our offense, they don't fight through screens. They don't fight through. 00:24:33 Speaker 3: The book ball pressure. We don't set a ton of screens. I think I think Drew's right, we need to set more. 00:24:39 Speaker 7: I think I think, well, I'm talking about the other team. 00:24:45 Speaker 3: Yeah, that's defense, but you set on offense. On offense, I think it's like it's more scheme than effort defense. 00:24:53 Speaker 4: I'll agree with you. I think some of its effort, but go ahead. 00:24:57 Speaker 7: My second thing is, if we don't win three more games, if we don't get to eighteen, does that keep us out of the tournament? I think so that could be a very real possibility. 00:25:08 Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean we'd have to be bad for that to happen. But I so, let's talk about the tournament because we are fifteen and seven. But we're fifteen and seven with great wins, true, and the best conference by far. So let's talk about what we have to do to get to the tournament. We got nine games left. Twenty, you're in safe. Nineteen, you're probably in pretty safe. In eighteen, I still think you're in. You're in reeling, but you're in. I think you get lower than eighteen, and then it starts to get Harry. We get to eighteen simply by beating South Carolina, Vandy and LSU at home, and you should we're gonna do that, right, yes, right, Channing like, we're gonna do that. 00:25:58 Speaker 2: I mean, you're gonna get at least two of those. There's always a. 00:26:01 Speaker 4: Chance Mandy's getting killed on the road. Everywhere they played. 00:26:05 Speaker 2: They played Florida tough last night for a while. 00:26:07 Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true. If we can't win those three, that's different. But then I think we gotta win one of these road games this Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Alabama. What's the other one? Auburn's at home? I know, so I didn't say them Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Alabama. That's actually ye. We only play four road games, then we also play Auburn and Tennessee at home. How many wins are we gonna get in these last night? I'm gonna say four, so you have us finished in eight and ten. 00:26:40 Speaker 5: Yeah, the three home game you mentioned South Carolina, LSU, Mandy, and I think they can get that one maybe at Oklahoma. If I gotta pick one, that's the forum going with. 00:26:49 Speaker 3: I'm gonna say five. I think we're gonna win those three, will steal either at Oklahoma, at Texas or maybe even at Missouri. And we win one of Tennessee all Burn at home. That's gonna be our finishing signature thing. So I'm gonna say five and four to finish nine and nine in conference. What about you? 00:27:12 Speaker 6: I was still in a good place before tip off yesterday, even Arkansas I got over it pretty quickly. I genuinely thought that they would lose last night and win the next four. But how bad last night was has kind of got me worried even about Saturday. 00:27:28 Speaker 3: So I'm gonna go lose Saturday. I mean, South Kinda hasn't won a game all year in conference. Do you really think we could lose that game after last night? 00:27:36 Speaker 6: I think they lose to anyone if they don't fix that defense due But I genuinely thought until last night they lost by or down twenty seven. I thought they would beat South Carolina, Tennessee, what is it, Vandy, and then one more. I thought they'd win the next four and we'd all just say, all right, that's fine, we're good, and then hope to win some others. Now I think they win for the rest of the year. I don't know which. But the good thing is like they only dropped four places in the net. There's still top twenty five here and already just put out as bracketology. They're a four seed, and we're acting like the sky's fall and they're. 00:28:05 Speaker 3: All four seed after that game they are now they. 00:28:07 Speaker 6: Don't look good and they need to win some games moving forward. 00:28:09 Speaker 4: But and teams will keep beating each other and if they can show it. But I mean, we might play on Wednesday in the SEC tournament. 00:28:15 Speaker 3: Just that's a I'm got ready for that. Yeah, But here's what's interesting about Okay, let me just say, let's just say you play on Wednesday, and let's say where that. I think if we finish eight and ten, like you all do, we might be the nine seed in the SEC tournament. So what would that mean? You'd play on Wednesday, and you'd we might literally open the tournament up. The nine seed will play at one pm on Wednesday. What if it was against Arkansas, It'll probably be against South Carolina. So you'd play South Carolina. Yeah, then you'd play the next day, maybe against Vandy or Mississippi State, and. 00:28:47 Speaker 4: Then you might win that and then you probably play Auburn. 00:28:49 Speaker 3: And that's not great, but you could end up getting two wins in the SEC tournament that way helps your resumeate. Then you might then go into the NCAA with like twenty one wins. So and I'm looking for something positive here. Okay, Well, I'm as down as anyone. 00:29:05 Speaker 6: But if they beat Tennessee and RUP two games from now, would anyone be surprised. I mean we just said they did Tennessee and Knoxville, so they could do that. I mean would be very confused because this year has been a roller coaster. But I mean they're still capable of it, even though they looked so badly. 00:29:19 Speaker 3: I think Saturday is a huge game. 00:29:21 Speaker 4: I mean it should be a no, no. 00:29:23 Speaker 3: Big thing. 00:29:24 Speaker 4: But we cannot lose, no, no, no. 00:29:27 Speaker 6: Then you worry about it just unraveling with people's you know, where their headspaces and just the locker room. 00:29:32 Speaker 5: I think it's not just the fact they lost last night, it's it's how they lost. I mean, it was fourteen, but it felt like it should have been like a forty point game. I felt like the Kentucky was never even in it. 00:29:41 Speaker 3: Yeah, who's up next, Shannon, Let's go to Richard. Richard, go ahead, Richard. 00:29:46 Speaker 8: Well, I'm still be praysed, but I'll get over it. We we've got to get more hustle and now I thought the second half we looked better. They tried harder. That seemed like they put out some there for the second half. I think Arkansas just brewed their mind when they beat him over rough. I think he kind of took the heart away the first take. And one other thing. I heard a rover that that Butler and curR would be ready to play around the twentieth. Is there any truth to that? 00:30:23 Speaker 3: Shocked, I'd be surprised if Kerr plays. I appreciate the call. I think I'm I'm targeting. This is just a prediction Saturday the twenty second at Alabama for my for my Butler return. But I'd be surprised if you see, if you see Kerr. 00:30:40 Speaker 6: Even if he gets cleared that that's an injury that needs a bit of a time to come back with conditioning everything else. 00:30:46 Speaker 3: It's been so long since he's played. 00:30:48 Speaker 6: I hope we see him, but I don't even think you're going to get the best curve, even if that that foot gets back to one hundred percent. 00:30:53 Speaker 5: Jimmy Dyke said last night Butler was at least jogging during the shoot around just to kind of keep his condition in line. Kurr has had that boot on for man, he's gonna take him along. Even when not the boots off, He's gonna takehim a long time to get back in plane chase. 00:31:05 Speaker 3: Yeah, I would say hope for Butler. Uh Art let's get Butler back. If Kerr happens, it's a bonus. Yeah, I do. 00:31:14 Speaker 6: I liked what they said Ryan's note on the broadcast. They said he was a participant and shoot around. He didn't do everything, but it's more than he's been doing. So it sounds like he's getting closer and closer. 00:31:22 Speaker 3: Who's next, Darren eighty seven? Darren? Hey, guys, what's up? What's going on? 00:31:31 Speaker 9: This is this is a technical comment I guess about about what's going on with the Cats. Everybody says, Oh, we got to, you know, shoot the ball a little better on the easy bunny shots in the lane, or we've got to play better defense, and and I'd love to hear your take on how we accomplished that. 00:31:49 Speaker 10: I watched him play last night, sitting there, sitting there with my wife, and I'm I'm seeing guys that don't close out even I'm seeing guys that leave their feet on shot fakes. I'm seeing guys that don't keep their butt to the baseline. I'm seeing guys that. 00:32:02 Speaker 9: Allow cutters to cross their face. I see no connection defensively when the five are on the floor working together, and you've got to be able to have that communication defensively and have a flow and know that your guys going to be there if you get beat. And I think that's part of the problem. We have guys that get beat off the bounce and they're depending on help to be there. The help's not there, then they just all turn around and look at each other and hold their palms up, which you saw that. 00:32:33 Speaker 3: Now there's a lot of that. There's a lot of that. So I said on the post game, I appreciate the call. I think defense is a good defenses. That is, our problems are fifty percent we just ain't athletic enough, and that part's not gonna change. Yeah, okay, so some of it to me is like we're giving up eighty to almost everybody. The difference between eighty and ninety eight, though, are the things we can fix, like closing out on shooters, like cutting off baseline, like rotating over, like. 00:33:08 Speaker 4: Sticking your arms in the air when people. 00:33:11 Speaker 6: Shoot, trying to get a steal, like trying. 00:33:13 Speaker 3: Yeah, so we're I don't think there's gonna be anything we can do that keeps us from giving up eighty on nights like that. But we still could have won with eighty if we don't give up ninety eight, And I think the difference between eighty and ninety eight Drew is the fixable part. 00:33:28 Speaker 6: Yeah, and there's guys on the roster that are just never gonna be good defenders. That's how they're built. But there were early possessions in the game where I'm looking at TV and I'm like, they're not even in a defensive stance. Yeah, they don't even are they even do they know they're on defense. It was just like standing up stuff as a board kind of looking around. It's like, at least ben your knees and act like you're gonna attempt to play defense. 00:33:47 Speaker 5: And on the other end, they're up in our grill. 00:33:48 Speaker 3: Man. 00:33:49 Speaker 5: Their effort was outstanding last night. 00:33:51 Speaker 3: Yeah, but I will say when I watched that, they oh a miss war themselves out in the second half. So part of it is with stand that first half part. They cannot play that kind of defense the whole game, right, they just can't. But we also we have to handle it better. I don't even know what that means ones in two. I don't either, Like I always hear people say that it's on the ones and twos? 00:36:10 Speaker 4: Shannon, what does it mean to be on the ones in twos? 00:36:12 Speaker 2: I don't know exactly, But I think you know, you got two records in front of you. There's one and two the ones? 00:36:18 Speaker 3: What it is the two record? 00:36:19 Speaker 2: I think that's what it is. 00:36:20 Speaker 4: Okay, so you. 00:36:21 Speaker 3: Know Karen would be on she would be mc karen and mc Karen on the Ones and twos. And I decided to go to a high school girls basketball game. And I get there and I find out that the visiting team. I'm talking to this lady sitting next to me. She says, we haven't won a game all year. We're zero fourteen, and we scored eighteen points in our last game. Well they're they're now zero and fifteen, but they doubled their point total from the previous game. 00:40:09 Speaker 3: Well that's good. Why didn't you want to watch the Kentucky game? What was your What was like you? You assume you're a fan? 00:40:15 Speaker 4: Why not? 00:40:16 Speaker 3: Why did you want to skip. 00:40:17 Speaker 11: It after Saturday? I I just it was so such a downer and I just didn't know what to do about it because I I didn't have a high expectation of what was going to happen. 00:40:31 Speaker 3: Yeah, and turns out I wanted I wanted. 00:40:35 Speaker 11: To watch it, and yet I did want to watch it. I don't have to do that. That sounds gross. 00:41:23 Speaker 3: I'm sorry. I'm have to go to break but that sounds like an awful thing. I'm sorry you had to do that. I appreciate the call. Yeah, I start this afternoon with the stuff. 00:41:30 Speaker 5: I'm anxious see how that goes. Because I have been on the pills.
