Speaker 3: Welcome back two Tucky Sports Radio a f I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven Here at Ks Bar and Grills, Science Hill in the house.

00:01:06
Speaker 4: Where are you from, Sir Louisville? All right, good deal. I like to you know, I like to hear where people are from.

00:01:12
Speaker 2: I know it's kind of cool, it is.

00:01:13
Speaker 3: Prices are falling at Don Franklin's family of dealerships over five thousand dealerships, twenty six locations. We were at one in summer set on Friday. They do all your auto needs, the tools and the experience to help you. Don Franklin Auto dot Com. Check out our good friends. Uh Don Franklin, come on out and have lunch with us if you so desire. One person I think wrote me a good question, and I just want to get to it before we do basketball, they said, Matt. By its very nature, some teams have to be good. That doesn't mean the college sports system is working. And I think that's that's that's fair. But like, you're not gonna be able to fix the system by complaining on a message board in twenty twenty four or on social media. The system is what it is, and so we've got to win under it. And we can't just use the system as an excuse for us losing to Florida Florida is in the same system we are and they're winning, so or they won. You can't like the system will be fixed in two to three years. There's too much money at stake. There are too many people who want to make this work. It's gonna be fixed, but in this interim period, you gotta find a way. Ryan didn't navigate it.

00:02:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, Florida, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, they're in the same boat as Kentucky, and yet they embarrassed you in all three of those losses, not only beat you, beat you bad, and.

00:02:37
Speaker 3: Also the whole well, they're making money, so they're divas. Yeah, but there were divas before people were making money. I mean, now, I don't know about you. We didn't make a lot of money at Millsborough High School and some of my teammates were divas.

00:02:50
Speaker 4: Like it just like that's that's natural.

00:02:52
Speaker 2: You shouldn't talk that way about bo Bob.

00:02:54
Speaker 4: It wasn't bo Bob.

00:02:55
Speaker 3: I'm not gonna name names, but we had diva teammates.

00:02:59
Speaker 5: And these guys are s true still competitors, and they ultimately want to make more money and for them to get more money and make that next jump to where they really want to go. They have to pay good football games.

00:03:07
Speaker 4: Yep, that's true.

00:03:08
Speaker 5: They like getting those checks and want to continue to get them for being good at football. That should be more of an incentive to play well.

00:03:14
Speaker 4: Yeah, Dion said.

00:03:15
Speaker 3: And I don't know if it's true, but Dion said, Sanders said, his players that have money, it's all gone in a year anyway.

00:03:21
Speaker 4: He was like, they spend it all. He said, So, I mean that may be true.

00:03:25
Speaker 2: Let me ask you a question because i've heard this come up now. Air Force and Army both do not take transfers, and they're seven and a.

00:03:31
Speaker 3: Little different though they're playing against a different level competition. I mean, I you know, that's nice, but let's see how they do against Notre Dame. Yeah, you know, listen, I want those teams to do well, and I'm sure there's a natural discipline, but we're also not going to put our players through boot camp.

00:03:50
Speaker 4: I mean, it is a it is a different thing over there.

00:03:53
Speaker 5: And there for every example of that, you have Vandy, who is only good because they went to the portal. I mean they went and got a Actually that's exactly exactly right. All right, Let's talk for a second about basketball. Blue White, game. It was I don't know if you were. I think here's how I would say the Blue White game.

00:04:16
Speaker 3: I thought the basketball was actually really good, and I want to talk mostly about what we saw on the court. Experience itself need some work. I think UK Athletics just doesn't really know how to put on events. They did a pretty good job with madness.

00:04:35
Speaker 4: I thought this.

00:04:37
Speaker 3: I don't know, they just I offered some suggestions.

00:04:41
Speaker 4: It wasn't really.

00:04:43
Speaker 3: Adhered to, and it just didn't. It just didn't totally work. But the basketball was awesome. Okay, the basketball I enjoyed and makes me more excited about the team. The experience itself, I think probably could have been Hopefully they will get there's a bird, Hello bird.

00:05:03
Speaker 5: Hopefully it's my time to step in.

00:05:05
Speaker 4: Hopefully they will get.

00:05:06
Speaker 3: It and make it better next time. I enjoyed it, but it could use some work. Do you agree that's fair?

00:05:13
Speaker 2: I enjoyed it also, and it was, like I'll kind of repeat what I said Saturday. We actually saw a team running offense, actually saw a team execute plays, actually saw a team that pressed in a Blue white game, So that that part of it shows me the hey basketball as we knew it is long gone. This is a new era, completely, completely new era is long gone. I walked away and pressed with Colin Chandler.

00:05:37
Speaker 5: I want to talk about the basketball, but just the experience. Oh, the basketball saved it at the end with the scrimmage. I mean even the women, who I was excited to see, they played the They played the guys that they normally practiced with, which was fine, but I wish I'd seen a little more than playing each other.

00:05:51
Speaker 3: And the this bird is like right on top of us. The bird is very fascinated. The bird didn't care what I was talking about in football, but he was very interested in what I talked about about basketball.

00:06:00
Speaker 4: So hello bird.

00:06:02
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:06:02
Speaker 5: On the event, overall, there's some some kinks to work out. There's a lot of downtime where people are looking at each other throwing their arms in the air, like shouldn't something be going on right now?

00:06:10
Speaker 3: I mean, you had twenty five minutes between the women and the men where nothing happened, and you just you just can't do that.

00:06:16
Speaker 4: People.

00:06:16
Speaker 3: This bird is literally right next to me, But bird, go somewhere else.

00:06:24
Speaker 2: Go Okay, I don't like having this right here.

00:06:28
Speaker 4: It's right on me. Stop it, bird, that's okay.

00:06:32
Speaker 5: I would open the garage and I'll see two more birds trying to get in.

00:06:35
Speaker 4: What is happening if stop attacking it? Police?

00:06:42
Speaker 2: You sitting right above us.

00:06:46
Speaker 5: It's got something in his mouth? What is that?

00:06:49
Speaker 2: That thing?

00:06:50
Speaker 3: Did that go right next to my face? Mario, you're not using that video? Just for the record, that video is to remain here.

00:06:59
Speaker 2: One of us is gonna get hooped on, so me get it out of here with her.

00:07:02
Speaker 4: You go work on it.

00:07:04
Speaker 3: Tell me your thoughts on blue white, and then you go try to get this bird out either.

00:07:08
Speaker 5: I have to go. You're good at this, I am, I said. We usually call me in thoughts on blue. Why the basketball, like Romo said, was very competitive, I mean taking charges, talking trash a little bit. You know, Andrew Carr, Lamont Butler, Amari Williams already know those guys what they are. I'm excited to see them. But Colin Chandler threw his name in the mix. That guy, I almost want to say, I don't know how he doesn't start as good as he looks in that game. And I'm not saying he's the one and done, but he showed some flashes of I could see that guy blowing up this year and becoming a star.

00:07:36
Speaker 4: All right, you go work on the burd ok Ryan and I will talk about basketball.

00:07:39
Speaker 2: All right.

00:07:40
Speaker 4: Uh, Mario, you follow him, see if he can get the burd.

00:07:43
Speaker 3: My thoughts on basketball, okay, Uh love the way they play really exciting and fun to watch.

00:07:50
Speaker 4: They didn't shoot well.

00:07:51
Speaker 2: It didn't.

00:07:51
Speaker 3: I think if they had shot well, that score would have been a lot more. But they didn't shoot well. But in terms of like getting up and down the court, they don't stop. I mean they they run the whole time, and it's a very fun form of basketball to watch.

00:08:06
Speaker 2: They run. But it's not just the go offense. They're actually running plays and executing fast breaks and things.

00:08:13
Speaker 3: I was our fans are gonna love watching this, don't you think what's gonna say?

00:08:17
Speaker 4: I mean, our fans are gonna love watching it.

00:08:19
Speaker 2: I found myself really enjoying just watching them compete and the way they play good passing team, you know, like I said, when they're trying to execute their plays. I was kind of surprised our big guys are a little better than I thought. I didn't know we'd have much of an inside game at all.

00:08:32
Speaker 3: Let's go play or break now, Okay, Jackson Robinson best player and Andrew Carr the best. They're the two best players. I think Jackson Robinson and Andrew Carr are the two best players, and I do think they're a pretty significant notch above the other two.

00:08:46
Speaker 4: Don't you agree with that?

00:08:47
Speaker 2: Totally agree?

00:08:48
Speaker 4: I think they just kinda are on another level.

00:08:51
Speaker 3: I think Otega Away Lamont Butler gonna be solid guys that you love and can get in like, are consistently playing well.

00:08:59
Speaker 4: Do you agree? Yeah?

00:09:00
Speaker 2: Otake is like a glue guy. He was in on rebound, one of the lead rebounders. He had a you know, deflection steals, good defense. He's a guy that's gonna play a lot because he can do a lot of things.

00:09:09
Speaker 4: The surprise was Colin Chandler.

00:09:10
Speaker 3: I mean Colin Chandler was a guy that if you had watched the practice I went to a couple of days ago or a couple of weeks ago, you.

00:09:17
Speaker 4: Thought, I'm not sure this guy's gonna play.

00:09:19
Speaker 3: The Colin Chandler we saw in the Blue White Game is why the kid was a top twenty five recruit, right, There's.

00:09:24
Speaker 2: No doubt about it. He was the biggest takeaway. I think for most people that kid is good. Like Drew said, maybe gonna fight for a starting spot, but he's definitely gonna be like a six man athletic. Athletic can shoot the big man.

00:09:37
Speaker 4: I think are really good defensively.

00:09:42
Speaker 3: Maury Williams, I don't know what you would call his shot.

00:09:46
Speaker 2: You have a better touch around the basket. It's a left handed push shot.

00:09:52
Speaker 4: He he.

00:09:54
Speaker 3: If you can find the video of Amari Williams first jump shot and it went in, it did go in. It went It might have been the ugliest shot I've ever seen in my life. He was shooting it like a left handed shot put but it went in.

00:10:08
Speaker 2: During pregame warm ups I saw him do it. I thought, well, he's just trying to get some use out of his left hand. You know, it looks like it looks awkward when you shoot with your opposite hand. And then the game started in like, oh, he's left handed. That was that's his real shot and it looks so awkward.

00:10:22
Speaker 3: Travis Perry didn't play great. Tritan Noah made a couple plays right.

00:10:26
Speaker 2: Travis Perry forced to play point guard because Kurk Krisa was out injured so Travis kind of playing out of position a little bit, did okay, I will add he had six points. He did, which exactly what I've predicted.

00:10:38
Speaker 4: No, you predicted under six point.

00:10:40
Speaker 2: I said six six was the magic number.

00:10:42
Speaker 4: So I'm excited about the team, I really am. I think it's gonna.

00:10:46
Speaker 3: Be fun to watch they play Wednesday night, and I can't wait.

00:10:50
Speaker 4: I am.

00:10:50
Speaker 3: I am more excited about the team after I watched that game than before, because this is going to be I don't know how good they're gonna be, but this is going to be a really, really fun team. And Mario and Andrew trying to find this bird now is great action. Who's up next?

00:11:07
Speaker 2: Isaac is up next?

00:11:08
Speaker 4: Isaac? Go ahead? Isaac. Drew look at trying to lead the bird out the door. It worked, it worked. He's the bird whisperer. He literally let it out the door. All right, Isaac, go ahead? All right.

00:11:30
Speaker 6: A long time WILL listener, first time callers, I just want to say, I feel like the team lost its heart and soul whenever Swarman passed away. Every since then, O Line has not played. It's it's almost like they don't have anything playing for then you've got you know coach Wolf or Woodford or the the new O line coach that left in the middle of the night Forbama. Now he's back. We've had five different offensive coordinators in five different years. Of the best quarterbacks that we've had under Stoops has arguably been Steven Johnson and turnover Terry. So I mean, there's just no consistions.

00:12:14
Speaker 3: I don't think that's I don't think you're fair to I don't think you're fair to Terry Wilson. Terry Wilson took us to a ten win season and probably the best team we've had in twenty plus years. I mean, the turnover Terry thing. I know you're trying to be funny, but I don't think that's fair. I really don't. I think Terry Wilson, look, man, he took us to ten wins and the best team we've had at least since Tim Couch, if not before. I think people want to put some more respect on his name. To be honest with you, that's fair, that's fair, But go ahead finish your point.

00:12:49
Speaker 6: But it just seems like there's no consistency there, Like we've not been able to really develop a quarterback at all, and I think, you know, coach Stoots has done amazing considering that we haven't really had like an elite, top level quarterback.

00:13:09
Speaker 3: No, well, again, everything is revision, is history. Well, Levis was the thirty third pick in the draft. I mean we've only had one quarterback picked higher in the draft than him, So I mean, I don't think it's also fair to act like he wasn't good. I think the problem has been quarterback. The problem has been and I appreciate the call quarterback in the last two years, but even then I sort of wonder is it the quarterback or is it everything else?

00:13:36
Speaker 2: It wasn't the offensive coordinator last year because look what Liam Cohen's doing with the Buccaneers, and I think that we're I think Vander griff is good. It just not plays. It just hasn't. It just hasn't clicked. Hasn't clicked this year for whatever reason.

00:13:49
Speaker 3: Do you I think there's a lot of people who sort of won't let me put it, like, let's just be flat out honest. Do you think Mark Stoops is the coach of Kentucky next.

00:14:00
Speaker 2: Seat, I'm gonna say yes, you think yes, I think he's not. He would not want to leave it the way it is right now. I think he'd want to leave it on a high note.

00:14:10
Speaker 5: What do you think I actually would have said no before two three weeks ago, but I think yes because of what Ryan's in a pride thing. I'm almost to the point I'm allowed to change this as the season goes on. But I'm almost to the point. I hope he says this summer like give me one more ride, like almost announce it ahead of time, and then get everybody on board for one more. I don't see him walking away if this goes really bad.

00:14:33
Speaker 4: I don't think he.

00:14:34
Speaker 5: Would, with all the good he's done, to leave after like his worst than his lowest point.

00:14:38
Speaker 2: I don't.

00:14:38
Speaker 5: I don't think he has that in him.

00:14:40
Speaker 4: But he could.

00:14:41
Speaker 3: My answer was definitely no all year, and it still leans that way. I mean, if you listen, you listen to the post game after, I mean, I don't know if you guys are listening to when he's with Tom Leach after the game, he sounds so defeated, defeated. He sounds defeated, which he never sounds defeated, agreed, and he has sounded defeated for two straight shows. Just defeated and I I don't know, man, I don't know. Your All's point is a valid one. He's not gonna want to leave it worse, you know, worse than it was a few years ago. But I don't know. I think part of it depends on how we finished. I mean, I think if we beat Auburn, we beat Louisville, maybe it's more likely he leaves.

00:15:25
Speaker 4: I don't.

00:15:26
Speaker 2: I don't know, because we know, we know what the schedule is next year. It just flips all these SEC road games or home game next year, so we know.

00:15:32
Speaker 3: I mean, now, yeah, next year, you're gonna get Texas at home, right, You're gonna get Florida at home. You're gonna get Tennessee at home. And I mean you're riding a heck of a home schedule next year. Your home schedule is Tennessee, Old Miss Texas and Florida.

00:15:44
Speaker 4: Yep. I mean, but but the.

00:15:46
Speaker 3: Counter to that is your road schedule, Like, there ain't gonna be any gimmes right South Carolina on the road, Vandy is gonna be on the road. Uh, Georgia is gonna be on the road, and Auburn's gonna be on the road.

00:15:59
Speaker 4: I mean, if you're you're not ready. Next year, you could lose every game.

00:16:02
Speaker 5: You gotta think Auburn will get better.

00:16:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, eighty seven. We'll take a break right back. It's KSR, welcome back, take you sports radio. Bird gone here at the Chaos bar and grill. No more chaos bird. You got it to walk out following your phone with bird chirpy music.

00:16:21
Speaker 5: Actually didn't expect you to work like that. It literally just walked next to my feet. I walked from back here to the door, and it just walked next to me like a little dog. I was playing noises on my phone. Usually they fly out that one. I feel like we could have gone for a little walk around town. We're buddies.

00:16:34
Speaker 4: You guys are friends.

00:16:36
Speaker 5: It's gonna be a good video. Mario got that. Do y'all call me for your bird needs.

00:16:39
Speaker 2: That was kind of impressive because the bird, he was like the dog whisper. He's the bird whisper. Let the bird let it right outside.

00:16:45
Speaker 5: We just walked right out the front door.

00:16:47
Speaker 3: One person writes Matt, I was at the Blue White game. I actually thought it was fun. You're right, they can't have twenty five minutes of nothing happening in the middle.

00:16:55
Speaker 4: But otherwise I had a good nun.

00:16:57
Speaker 5: I think after while, if it's not your kid or your family member doing the games, it was very cool. Everyone got to do some kind of experience. But a lot of those it's like, okay, I've seen see a lot of people take half court shots or blindfolded shots.

00:17:11
Speaker 3: It's very important that if you're gonna have down time, you keep people engaged, you keep people talking. You know, there's an art to entertainment. Okay, that's why it's called arts and entertainment. There's an art to entertainment. And like the days of just showing up and like everything's fine, it's not like that anymore. You got to you got you gotta put on a show, and if you're gonna charge that, you gotta put on a show. And I just think I think that could have been better. But the basketball was fun for me. I mean, I thought that bad that. There's no doubt they played harder in that Blue White game than they have in that game in twenty five years.

00:17:58
Speaker 4: Would you agree with that?

00:17:59
Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, they had the elam ending, so teams were calling timeouts at the end to try to set up plays, and they had a trouble trying to finally hit that last bucket. That created a lot of excitement I think for the fan base. So yeah, if you wanted to see a true what this team's all about, you've got a little taste of it for sure on the Blue White, and we.

00:18:15
Speaker 5: Got to really see how they're gonna play. We talked about it, but we finally saw them running offense. Yea, they pass it so much.

00:18:22
Speaker 4: Yeah, you guys are gonna listen.

00:18:24
Speaker 3: All of you over the years that have complained about the offense, the way we don't run plays, the way we don't do sets, y'all gonna be the happiest you've ever been. I mean, this team is going to This is gonna be offense like you read about as a kid or watched in high school or what like. You're gonna love the offense. Now, are we good enough? We'll find out, But we're gonna be fun to watch. Who's next?

00:18:47
Speaker 2: Lance?

00:18:47
Speaker 7: Is up next?

00:18:48
Speaker 4: Lance? Go ahead? Lance?

00:18:51
Speaker 7: Hey man, you mentioned some teams earlier that Kentucky had surpassed in football that kind of helped boost the kind of the image of the program. That's something that nobody on here has ever talked about I don't know if they just don't pay attention to it or what. But between twenty seventeen eighteen and twenty twenty one, all those teams that we surpassed were going through coaching changes. Florida has been through multiple coaches, Vandy has Missouri got Dinguwitz and he started beating us. And the only teams that weren't really going through coaching changes were Alabama, Georgia, Ole, miss and A and M. And those are teams we haven't been able to beat.

00:19:36
Speaker 4: Yeah, but I don't know.

00:19:37
Speaker 3: What the point I mean, I don't know what the point of that is. They'll be coaching changes this year in the SEC. Everybody goes through coaching changes. I mean, like, I don't really get what your point is.

00:19:47
Speaker 7: The point of it is they bring in they're bringing new coaches in because the program is at all time lows well Oka, Kentucky.

00:19:54
Speaker 4: But that's fine.

00:19:54
Speaker 3: But we actually yeah, but we also beat a Louisville team that was ranked in the top t We did that twice. We beat a We beat a Penn State team that was ranked eleventh in the country in a bowl game that was awesome. We beat Iowa, We played Clemson, down to the last play we beat Virginia Tech. I'm just not gonna buy the we were only good because the other team stunk. Part of the reason they fired their coaches is because we beat.

00:20:21
Speaker 4: Them every year. That's part of the reason they lost their job.

00:20:25
Speaker 7: In the year the year when Lobell was ranked so high and we beat them, that was that was the Lamar game, which Lamar, you just have to wait for him to fumble, He'll lose when it mat Yeah, you're just.

00:20:37
Speaker 3: Wanting to discount No, no, you wait, you're just wanting to discount Kentucky wins.

00:20:43
Speaker 4: I'm saying to you. But the year we be the first year we beat Florida, they finished the season ten and three.

00:20:50
Speaker 7: I'm not trying to discount their wins. But if Steve were wanting to know, and that is the most obvious factor, that is the biggest change part of reason.

00:21:00
Speaker 3: Those teams, part of the reason those teams weren't good is we beat them. I'm not gonna accept this idea that the only reason we were good is because those teams were bad.

00:21:12
Speaker 4: I'm just not wait.

00:21:13
Speaker 7: Wait, so, so the only reason those teams were bad is because we beat them, isn't that the based on transitive.

00:21:20
Speaker 3: The transitive lot, the transitive lot.

00:21:23
Speaker 4: First of all, what do you want to measure good in?

00:21:26
Speaker 3: Do you want to discount the Penn State, Clemson, Iowa, Louisville. You want to discount all those wins? Do you want to discount the most draft picks in the history of Kentucky football occurred in those years.

00:21:37
Speaker 4: Well, if you're gonna discount all of.

00:21:38
Speaker 3: That, the fact that we played Georgia the year they were dominant, we played them better than anyone in the country did. Do you just want to discount all that? Well, then what are you using to say we weren't good? You're using the fact that we beat these teams as examples that they weren't good. Maybe the fact that we beat them was because we were good.

00:21:59
Speaker 7: I was in discount the Penn State loss at all, But I'm talking about you look at the conference and you said Clemson. We never beat Clemson because, mister.

00:22:07
Speaker 2: We lost it on the last play.

00:22:10
Speaker 7: But then this, but we lost some last play. But that's the mister. I don't take transfers. Who's steals six and one in five and zero in the conference?

00:22:18
Speaker 4: And who have they played? Who have they beaten.

00:22:22
Speaker 7: A lot of ACC teams with who's stay, that's Virginia Tech.

00:22:27
Speaker 4: They haven't played at Virginia Tech.

00:22:31
Speaker 7: No, but you're talking. You were bragging about the men Kentucky had over Virginia Tech. And that's all right.

00:22:36
Speaker 4: I appreciate the call.

00:22:38
Speaker 3: Look, if you want to just say the revisionist history that Mark Stoops has not been good here, it's just ridiculous.

00:22:45
Speaker 4: It's ridiculous. Find me a Kentucky coach who's been better.

00:22:49
Speaker 2: There's not been.

00:22:49
Speaker 4: There's not been.

00:22:51
Speaker 3: Now, if you want to say the program slipped, I will listen to you on that. But I don't At first I could tell by your voice you're young. I mean, I don't know what you think Kentucky football is. I mean, I don't know what you think it is because we've never been good ever, and we've been pretty good in the last few years, been really good until the last couple of years. And I think it's fair to say it slipped, But I don't think it's fair to dismiss everything that happened before. We'll take a break right back, It's KOSR Quarterback Tucky Sports Radio. If I'm twenty two eighty seven, A couple of people said they thought I sounded angry.

00:23:39
Speaker 2: I'm not angry. I like to argue, you know that you're a debate is angry.

00:23:43
Speaker 5: I stopped listening to that guy the moment he said they had to wait for Lamar to fumble. Sir, they were a twenty six point underdogars in one outright at Little, but they weren't waiting for a fumble. I like making fun of Lamar fumbles more than anyone, But that dude just try to discredit every good thing that's happened for the last ten years.

00:23:57
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I don't like. It's like one person writes, Matt, you he was discrediting Stoops. His success is like you discredited cows. Never discredited Cows. Cal had a seven or eight year run here. That's one of the best runs in the history of college basketball. I know we only ended up with one title, but from twenty ten to twenty seventeen, this program was rocket. Yep, and it's cause of cow and it's caught. But Col's program, you know what happened to It slipped and historically the standard for Kentucky basketball is not the same as football. But what stinks about us slipping in football right now is we're slipping in football right is? The chance is the college football system gives you a chance to be successful at Kentucky. Like, now you have a twelve team playoff, there's gonna be some random team make the playoff Indiana BYU.

00:24:53
Speaker 2: Missouri.

00:24:55
Speaker 3: Like one of these random teams is gonna make it. Which says to you, Ryan, that we could.

00:25:01
Speaker 2: It was not crazy after Kentucky beat Ole Miss for us to look at the possibility that there was a road to the playoffs that's still there. There was. You just beat Ole Miss at Ole Miss that we ranked what six in the country, and you would have gonna have to probably beat Tennessee or Texas, but you should have won the other games. They're taking care of business in the other games.

00:25:18
Speaker 3: Yeah, so you know, stinks, but there's this natural tendency. We went through it with cal and we're going it through it with Stoops. Now we're in order to make your point about today, you have to dismiss everything they've ever done. And Ryan, I think that's.

00:25:37
Speaker 2: Ridiculous, right. I think I was trying to say the only reason Kentucky won those games because the other teams were bad. No, Kentucky was really really good.

00:25:43
Speaker 3: Oh, by the way, I let's just assume that's true. I have a lifetime of watching us lose to those bad teams, right, that doesn't remember the year we went to a nine. I mean I watched Vandy beat his forty to nothing the year before he got here at home.

00:25:59
Speaker 5: And as you said, with the draft picks and talent, that's better than it's ever been, you know, I mean Will Lovis. I'm not exactly loving how that's looking around him right now as a Titans fan. But the two years we had Levis, that was quarterback play that you just haven't seen much around Kentucky.

00:26:13
Speaker 3: I've always said the day that I come on to radio and I start going these young people don't understand is the day that I'm not doing it anymore because I'm never going to be that guy.

00:26:23
Speaker 2: Are you there? No?

00:26:27
Speaker 4: But these young people don't understand. No.

00:26:30
Speaker 3: I mean, like, I just don't know what people expect UK football to be. We can expect them to be better than this, though, Yes, I think that I think that's fair. Who's next?

00:26:39
Speaker 2: Chris is up next?

00:26:40
Speaker 4: Chris? What's up? Chris?

00:26:43
Speaker 2: Oh?

00:26:43
Speaker 8: Nothing much? Just been hearing all the chatter about how suits hasn't been good. I mean, what he's done in the past ten years. I don't think we'll probably ever see the success that he's had at a decent level so fast. I know it's been ten years, but same time, it's you know, we haven't really witnessed that, even with Rich Brooks, who had a couple of good teams and then obviously a terrible coach with Joker Phillips. But I just don't thankful ever get over the hump if he doesn't give up full reigns to the offense.

00:27:19
Speaker 3: Well, that's a different point. What do you think about that? I appreciate the call. You know, he mentioned how good Liam Cohen's doing in Tampa Bay. Shannon Dawson is going to take Miami to the playoff, maybe to the ACC Championship. You know, I mentioned Eddie Grant in hindsight did really well. Bush Hampden's Boise State team's doing a little better than when he was there, but he built that offense. They're kind of similar. Like on some level, do we say it can't always be the offensive coordinator's fault.

00:27:48
Speaker 2: I think as we continue to try to look for answers, what is the problem. I think that is a fair assessment that maybe there is some truth to that that coach Dukes just wants to run a certain style, wants to play a certain style. Maybe these off at the quitters are handcuffed a little bit.

00:28:04
Speaker 3: They have opened it up more this year than maybe even last year with Liam Cohen, but it's still not working, and I think ultimately stuff has to work.

00:28:14
Speaker 5: Yeah, haven't they actually moved the ball decently, especially not having your starting running back for most of the year, But they're not finding the end zone. And then I was more disappointed a few play calls last Saturday than have it all year, Like the Dane being on the bench on fourth down.

00:28:27
Speaker 2: You're throwing.

00:28:29
Speaker 5: Brown Stevens, who I don't mind, but six yards short of the first down marker on fourth down. There was a few things where I'm like, what are we doing?

00:28:36
Speaker 3: I mean, it's fourth and six, fourth and five, and both Dane and Barryon are sitting on the bench.

00:28:42
Speaker 5: And you're throwing so short of the chains to a guy with one catch all year.

00:28:45
Speaker 4: That that was frustrating.

00:28:47
Speaker 2: That third down play call before that one, I think they they were a little bubble screen or something out to barryon that was Burry.

00:28:52
Speaker 3: On the play before that on third down. Yeah, so I don't know, that's frustrating. I think that's completely fair. And is that on Bush or is that on Stoops. I mean it's probably on Bush. Bush is making those calls. But there is a longer pattern that we can't just ignore of these. I mean, Shannon Dawson, Look, I was one of his harshest critics, but you gotta say, I mean, he's they're killing it right now at Miami.

00:29:16
Speaker 5: Well, the way Stoops plays, there's so few possessions and so slow that when you make a mistake, it's just so big because everything matters so much when you play that brand of football. When you only have the ball with Vandy that it's seven times in the game, you have a couple bad possessions like they did that, you're out of it.

00:29:31
Speaker 4: Yeah, who's next? Joseph is up next, Joseph, Go ahead, Joseph. Yeah.

00:29:37
Speaker 9: So the previous caller took my exact point. I was just going to say that it's a trend at this point. You know that the offensive coordinators and every time we hire them, national pundits are like, oh wow, he's a great mind. He's a great mind. You got a good one, you got a good one. Then they come here and then they're terrible. I mean, that's the common denominator is stoops.

00:29:55
Speaker 2: It just is.

00:29:57
Speaker 9: I don't think there's any way you could sort of Yeah, I.

00:29:59
Speaker 3: Mean, I fully back if if bush Hamden were to leave, he'd go somewhere and be really good next year, you know.

00:30:06
Speaker 4: I mean, I do think Joseph. At some point we can't just keep putting it on them.

00:30:11
Speaker 9: Yeah, So since that point was made, I'll just tell you I actually went to Queen's last Night or not last night Saturday night and went to the Sturgel Simpson concert and absolutely killed it. Man, that guy is just as good as anyone live I've ever seen. So you don't have if you have an or two seam on this tour, make a point to do it.

00:30:29
Speaker 4: Yeah.

00:30:30
Speaker 3: But man, Bomani was there, so you you didn't even know Bomani was at that concert last night, so you should have said.

00:30:35
Speaker 4: Hi to him. I should have appreciate I appreciate the call.

00:30:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, Bumani was mad. He was like BOUMANI is a Sturgel. You've said that stand including Miles Miller, his drummer, by the way, who sometimes listened to show Miles. If you're listening, BOUMANI thinks like you're the best thing that's ever existed. Like he's always like, you got to introduce me to Miles. I'm like, I can try to do that anytime you want. But he he loves it.

00:31:01
Speaker 2: I've never seen Sturgil live in concert. He's on the bucket list. I want to go to a show somewhere.

00:31:05
Speaker 4: Who's up next? Robbie is up next, Robbie, go ahead, Robbie.

00:31:10
Speaker 10: Yeah, good morning, Matt Poby all done good. I mean a couple of collars before kind of mentioned the same thing that I mean, it's our offense is just never been good. But Stu's being there, you know. I Mean it was okay when both was back there, but he was just a freak, run wild type of thing. But I mean, it's got to come down to it's on stuts. I mean, all of our offensive coordinators going to other places and being all stars. I mean, we don't have some of the quarterbacks they have and stuff like that in Miami. That guy is a freak. But one other thing I wanted to mention is one of my best friends is on the Kentucky High School Board for sports, and he was saying that something that Mark Polpe does is he let any high school coach schedule and come in and watch any practice they want to watch, and then set down with them for forty minutes if they want to after the practice, to just kind of go over some things and help out, which I think will really help with in state recruiting, which something.

00:32:09
Speaker 4: No, I think that's true.

00:32:11
Speaker 3: I mean Mark Convince and then even before them, Schlarman, like, they were really good with high school coaches and and creating those relationships.

00:32:19
Speaker 4: So I do think that's something he should be commended on.

00:32:22
Speaker 2: Ryan that that's something I think has been missing in recent years. So absolutely he needs to be commended on that. And he's genuine too when he talks to these coaches and players. He's very genuine about it.

00:32:29
Speaker 3: Yeah, because when his dad was a high school coach, right like, so I think he I think he has like, uh, I think he has affinity for those guys.

00:32:36
Speaker 2: That's one thing I like during the Blue White game too, if one of these players kind of messed up, he kind of went to him and you could see look them in the eye and was like talking to him, not yelling at him, screaming, even just kind of encouraging them and talking to them.

00:32:48
Speaker 3: If I'm not in two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, tell me about Stocktor Morgan.

00:32:51
Speaker 2: You know, spooky season is just at the corner spooky, but buying a home doesn't have to be scary. Our friends, Is Stockton her here to reassure you? Just ask Chad who said of his experience. Everyone tells you all the horror stories of buying a home for the first time. That couldn't be further from the truth. When it comes to doctor mortgage. They have truly gone above and beyond to make this process as easy and as effortless as possible. Let them show you just how real professionals do it. It's doctor mortgage in MLS A two five nine Equalhalsing lender, uh.

00:33:19
Speaker 3: Dru My Nebraska lock of the Week didn't hitt. I mean it was close, but uh it was close. Well I was fifty two seven, but it was like close at the beginning.

00:33:29
Speaker 2: Ah, but it was zero to zero.

00:33:31
Speaker 4: Well, I mean I think Nebraska went like they got a first down and then like things kind of fell off.

00:33:37
Speaker 2: Track, but poor Mario and Billy.

00:33:39
Speaker 3: So Mario Milly, sorry, you're not getting paid this week, but I'll double up. We'll do it again next week for a different team.

00:33:45
Speaker 5: I think it was with the passion with which you assured everyone that Indiana couldn't cover. That's gonna think you're just sleeping on the Hoosiers a little bit.

00:33:52
Speaker 4: It's driving me crazy how good Indiana is.

00:33:54
Speaker 3: Although their coach, I will say, do you you know have you seen the video of his initial press conference?

00:33:59
Speaker 2: I don't think I saw it.

00:34:00
Speaker 3: And they said something like, so, what makes you so confident you can win at Indiana? And he goes something like, because I win, you don't know.

00:34:08
Speaker 4: Google me. It's like, okay, it was actually, what.

00:34:13
Speaker 5: Do you tell recruits? And he said, I tell him to google me, google me tell his players.

00:34:18
Speaker 4: Well, he's seven to oh, I guess they googled him. Go the host game day this week.

00:34:22
Speaker 5: They're not just winning all of their games, they are destroying teams. They're not close whatsoever. I think they've covered all seven games. Also, And what do you think once he got like some magic potion. What is it that's so good about it?

00:34:33
Speaker 2: I don't know, but he's what he's right. He's everywhere he's been, he's been a winner and that's why Indiana went out and got him. And look what he's done.

00:34:39
Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll take a break. Be right back. Final segment. Here is Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back.

00:34:44
Speaker 3: Final segment. Here this Kentucky Sports Radio. If I'm nine, two eight oh, twenty two eighty seven. If you're ready for the ultimate tailgate party, try Clark's Pump and Shop Crispy crunchy Chicken, perfectly Cajun every time. They got platters and a chicken sandwich and tenders with the side of wedges. You're not gonna get a better deal than that in this economy. Clark's Puppet Shop locations have a drive through freshly boof Brood Coffee, Hangar fifty four pizza in More, it's Clark's Puppet Shop. Return, Refresh, Refuel. One person on the tax machine writes Matt, A few weeks ago, you just said you would tell everybody about Amendment two. When's that coming? Because I'm going to early vote. You can early vote a couple of days in Kentucky.

00:35:26
Speaker 2: When is that? Is it?

00:35:28
Speaker 4: Like?

00:35:29
Speaker 2: Election Day? Is what two weeks from tomorrow?

00:35:32
Speaker 4: It is, but you're allowed to early vote two or three days in Kentucky.

00:35:35
Speaker 3: I'm not sure what it is. Yeah, we'll talk about it this week. I did my research on it. I feel very comfortable in my in my opinion.

00:35:43
Speaker 2: I need you to explain it for me cause I'm seeing are the yard signs, Well, that's usually how you decide. That's why I want to know what I'm voting.

00:35:49
Speaker 4: So based on based on what you know. Now in the yard.

00:35:53
Speaker 2: Signs, I'm seeing more yards signed to say vote no.

00:35:58
Speaker 3: So it's just whichever one you you see the most. Yes, Yeah, I'm going no. Yeah, I'm a no too. But I'll explain it so everyone knows what it is. Because there's two amendments, there's one in two, and I think.

00:36:12
Speaker 2: What I can tell you what I think it is.

00:36:15
Speaker 4: So yeah, no, no, I like the what does Ryan think the amendment is?

00:36:18
Speaker 5: What a song's telling you about?

00:36:19
Speaker 2: Ryan? I think if I think it's using public funding for private schools.

00:36:25
Speaker 3: That's the basic version. Okay, yeah, that's the basic version. So I mean, you're not do you know what Amendment one is?

00:36:32
Speaker 2: I didn't even know there was an Amendment one.

00:36:33
Speaker 4: So you knew there was an amendment too. You thought they skipped one.

00:36:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, like like hurricanes, they just go with alphabetic order.

00:36:39
Speaker 4: That's not alphabet though, that's numbers.

00:36:41
Speaker 2: Yeah, the mimics they do in America order hurricanes they do alphabetic.

00:36:45
Speaker 4: And you think sometimes they just skip one.

00:36:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, there's never been you think there's never been an amendment before until this one.

00:36:53
Speaker 2: Iulpture back in the seventies or maybe so there was one in.

00:36:56
Speaker 3: The seventies and now this is the second one, and then from now on, like the next next year would be Amendment three. Okay, see I don't think that's right, but I like that that's what you thought.

00:37:08
Speaker 2: So there is an amendment one on the ballot.

00:37:09
Speaker 3: There's Amendment one is do you think it Kentucky citizen? You should have to be a citizen to vote, which is kind of a I think everybody's gonna vote yes. It's kind of a stupid amendment because that's already the law. So like it's already the law nationally and that, but like if you want, but there's no I don't know why that's on there, but like everybody's gonna vote yes, because everybody should only want citizens to vote. But like I don't know why it's on there. It's like going, you think there should be a law that murder is illegal, Well, yeah, we have one, but this is the same thing. They just want to double check it right, and they want Ryan to know why there's an amendment too.

00:37:49
Speaker 2: I haven't seen any emitment. One yard Signs is passionate about that.

00:37:53
Speaker 4: They're not passionate about that one. What's next? How are you d.

00:38:00
Speaker 11: Good Man? How are you boy?

00:38:01
Speaker 4: I'm good.

00:38:03
Speaker 11: Well, I was not calling about the Blue White game and just experienced, but I was sitting on hold. I looked up a stat I think one guy mentioned about either the teams are beating Marn't at the level at the time we beat them. Do you know what Stip's record is against teams in the SEC that finished with a winning record.

00:38:18
Speaker 4: It's not great.

00:38:20
Speaker 11: Two and twenty eight going into this season, so that's not good that.

00:38:24
Speaker 3: Kind of But also I was just I will say it is two things. One it's hard to finish with a winning record in the SEC. But two, it's especially hard to fish with a winning record after Kentucky's beating you. I mean because you've you've lost one of the games you were probably supposed to win.

00:38:42
Speaker 11: Well, I was talk about the Blue White game. First off, the tenants wise, were you all little stunned? Do you think more thought it was?

00:38:48
Speaker 4: It was more than I thought there was gonna be.

00:38:50
Speaker 3: I was not stunned because look, they were charging one hundred dollars, so I mean, I think they ended up at this tip off of the men's game when everybody was seated, I think it was like sixty to seventy percent. That's kind of what I thought it would be. You know, I recommended that they charge less and try to fill it. They took the view of charging a little more and trying to to kind of make and you know, I would have done it differently, but that was their decisions. But I don't think it's reflective of anything other than the fact.

00:39:22
Speaker 4: That it cost a lot. Yeah.

00:39:25
Speaker 11: And then the last thing that I know, I'm a casual fan, go two or three games a year, you know, watch every game. That was the first time like the whole nil thing kind of really hit me in the face. So you see, like all the monitary part like fans walking out with people, kids shooting like that was the first real eye opening, like, oh my gosh, niol is a big deal. They're really pushing it. I mean it's kind of awkward, but again it's something the risk have to deal with moving forward.

00:39:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean there was some of that.

00:39:49
Speaker 3: Like I actually think the things with the kids and stuff are are cool because you got to think about if you were those kids, how good that would be.

00:39:57
Speaker 4: But yeah, I can see why you would think that was the first sort of in your face example of the new nil era. But it is.

00:40:05
Speaker 3: And you know, again, I don't know. I mean, it was one hundred dollars and it was like sixty to seventy percent full. I recommended to them fifty dollars and try to fill.

00:40:21
Speaker 2: It.

00:40:22
Speaker 3: Probably raised the same amount of money either way. I think it would have been nicer to have the place packed. I think part of the thing that made it weird until the men's team played was that there just wasn't a lot of energy in the building. Now that grew when the men's team played. But so, you know, but the maybe they'll learn and they'll do it differently next year.

00:40:42
Speaker 2: There were a couple, you know, fan interaction things that I think work, you know, and then the kid ran out with the player and they did their little handshake.

00:40:48
Speaker 4: I liked that. I liked that.

00:40:49
Speaker 2: And after the game they all came over to the sideline for you know, high fives and autographs some pictures. I thought, you know, that was a good gesture on their part to kind of connect with the guy, the fans that were there.

00:40:59
Speaker 4: Yeah, but it could have been better. I mean, I'm not gonna lie the first time.

00:41:04
Speaker 2: I mean, we if, like I think Drew said this last week, if Tennessee had done something like this, we'd been kind of critical, why isn't Kentucky doing something like this? Well they did. You know, they have to be creative and do things like that.

00:41:13
Speaker 3: And I don't know what the final amount of money that was raised is, but you know, I mean, I've been told that for the basketball program in Io, there's a general theory that you want to try.

00:41:22
Speaker 4: To get to like four million dollars.

00:41:25
Speaker 3: Okay, football it's a lot more than that, but for basketball, you want to try to get to four million dollars. All right, let's say that's what you want to get to. They probably got twenty percent of that the other nine And if you're sitting there trying to do it, and you know you can get twenty percent in one night without you know. I get it, Drew, I get it. I I And if you have a full gym and you charge fifty dollars, you're probably still only getting to twenty.

00:41:51
Speaker 2: Percent, you know.

00:41:53
Speaker 4: So that's kind of is what it is.

00:41:54
Speaker 5: Yeah, I was not opposed to them trying it. I know it stinks for people that went to the Blue White Game for many years for nothing. I just they're gonna have to do a lot of improving moving forward, because this is a year with a brand new team both ways, two new coaches, and a new coliseum. If you're only getting sixty percent, I think that would go down next year if you don't make some serious I think that's probably right.

00:42:12
Speaker 4: But remember this stuff starts Wednesday.

00:42:14
Speaker 3: Kentucky plays Kentucky Wesley and Wednesday, and it's gonna be awesome. I'm excited about that. And I think it's gonna be fun to watch a team. I think rep's gonna be fun.
