00:00:00 Speaker 1: You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio Our. 00:00:05 Speaker 2: Two on this Meet Friday, Gangsol here, reunited Marvin after his day off yesterday, Fritzi's here, Seaton, Paulie, yours truly in the backroom, guys, it is a meat Friday. We have corn beef. We also have pastrami on rye and all of the meat provided by Heartland Steak Co. Also something called beefed corn, a Dan Patrick Show original, but Dylan is whipping that up in the kitchen as we speak, Age seven to seven to three. DP Show email address Dpadanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at DP show Seatan. Would you update the poll results from our one of this award nominated program. 00:00:45 Speaker 3: Absolutely, Dan, and we're just about to put up a poll question for hour two. Okay, your high point from yesterday, this is one from Todd. 00:00:54 Speaker 2: Right now. 00:00:55 Speaker 3: VCU come back over in North Carolina has about fifty three percent of that vote, followed by high Point over Wisconsin. Last place is Texas beating BYU and Sienna scaring Duke. Nobody's super into that one. 00:01:06 Speaker 2: That was a fun game to watch. I'm not surprised that Texas beat BYU. BYU as the best player in the country. I didn't think they were a great team. A good team and Texas played a really good game. Sienna was fun, but they literally ran out of gas. You know you're playing all five Jerry McNamara rolling the dice and then you can see those shots were coming up a little bit short. VCU did not surprise me at all either, But fun, fun schedule, fun slate yesterday, A couple of surprises. I told you the eleven six is the new twelve to five. Both elevens win, and you had one of the twelves winning as well. 00:01:46 Speaker 3: New pole question, Yes, I'm glad you Aske Dan. Okay, this one is a combination of two from Paul. I was rooting for Duke aka my bracket or Sienna aka the Upset? Do you tend to root for your brand because pretty much everybody picked Duke? Or are you that into the upset that my bracket be damned? I don't really care about that. I need to see this Upsteck. 00:02:07 Speaker 2: I don't have Duke in my final four. I was rooting for Sienna. If I had Duke in the final four, I would have been rooting for Sienna. Did you have them advancing yesterday. Yes, okay, but if you said Duke lost Siena one, I would have been fine with that. I would have And you know, you start to look at that we got five guys, but when you come, when you get to the tournament, you get most teams are playing seven guys. John Caliperry has said that, hey, I'm going to play seven. I mean, you do your damnedest to play seven. You get a little extra time, TV timeouts to rest a little bit, but you're you're about seven deep, maybe eight, and Jerry was five deep, and it eventually cost them. John Rothstein, CBS Sports College Basketball Insider, does a great job for CBS THISBS Sports Network, and he's part of the coverage here. John. I heard John mad Dog Radio and recently and I said to Fritzi, I said, I want John on. I thought you did a wonderful job and painting the picture for the tournament before it started. And here we are today after the first day. The game of the day or night was what yesterday. 00:03:22 Speaker 4: I mean, I think you have to look Dan obviously at the high point win over Wisconsin, because so much obviously of the start of the NCAA tournament is about Cinderella, is about creating those moments. Obviously VCO in North Carolina was an epic, epic finish as well, but those to me really encapsulated what these first couple of days are about. It's about the dreamer. It's about the chance to do something again that could be cemented in school history. And look, we obviously hold VCU in very very high regard when we're talking about the best non power conference programs in college basketball. VCU has not won an NCUBA Tournament game since it beat Oregon State in twenty sixteen. It's been ten years, so that is a needle moving win for that program. 00:04:09 Speaker 2: If Siana beat Duke, would that have been the greatest upset in college basketball history. 00:04:14 Speaker 4: I still think that considering the fact that Purdue in twenty twenty three won the Big Ten regular season title and the Big Ten Tournament title and had the national player of the year in Zach Edy. And we have to remember, fairly, Dicktson did not win the Northeast Conference title. Merrimack did that season, but was ineligible to play in March Madness because of the transition Rowl. So fairly Dickenson wasn't good enough to win its conference tournament and then won a game in the first four and went on to pull in my opinion, unequivocally the biggest upset in the history of the NC DOUBLEA Tournament. 00:04:53 Speaker 2: Okay, but if you look at the North Carolina lost yesterday, and I know it's easy to look at you know a, but North Carolina lost and you're up by nineteen. Now, I know you don't have your best player in a lottery pick. But the fallout from that, is there any chance Hubert Davis is on the hot seat today at North Carolina. 00:05:17 Speaker 4: Look, there's no doubt that the expectations a line is playing. But we have to tell the whole story right here. Hubert Davis, when he had his full roster intact, did a great job this season returning North Carolina. It's a provident the prominence. And what I mean by that is this, when North Carolina was healthy this year. We have to remember it beat Kansas, it beat Duke, it won to Kentucky, it wonted Virginia with Caleb Wilson. North Carolina is a four seed and maybe a three depending on where it finishes in the ACC Tournament. I'm not somebody at this point in the season. That's gonna fog the NBA. But I did hear Charles Barkley saying the other night on the broadcast he thinks Caleb Wilson could maybe be the number one pick in the NBA draft, or at least in that conversation, Dan, I'm not saying this is two thousand when Cincinnati lost Kenyon Martin to a broken leg in the Conference USA Tournament. But we have to tell the whole story right here. Hubert Davis had turned North Carolina when he had Caleb Wilson. This program also was in a situation where it was really really playing early in the year without Seth Trimble, who obviously was a veteran guard. So it was an injury plague season when all hands. 00:06:32 Speaker 2: Were on deck. 00:06:34 Speaker 4: North Carolina obviously returned to one of being one of the best teams in the country. Now, with that said, it's a very disappointing loss, considering you of a nineteen point lead. 00:06:43 Speaker 2: I think both things are separate. What's next for Jerry McNamara at Siena. 00:06:52 Speaker 4: I'll tell you you can't make a better audition to be a Power Conference head coach than what Jerry McNamara did. 00:06:59 Speaker 2: Against do yesterday. 00:07:01 Speaker 4: Now I will say this I have learned and obviously covering all these stories, there is a faction of people at Syracuse that want to move away from the Jim Beheim regime. That is a real, real sentiment. But Dan, for the way I'm looking at this objectively, is if there was a can't miss candidate, if there was Dan Hurley at Rhode Island, if there was Shakas Smart at VCU, I would have no problem with that. But right now, what the person to replace Jerry Mcnamerica. It's not him. Isn't a can't miss candadate, and he has already proven in just two years that he's capable of leading a program. And he's also in a situation where he can build a program and compete in the NCAA tournament. And look, this is just the fact of life. Dan, and I think this is another longer form discussion, But the Syracuse job right now is not the Syracuse job that you and I grew up with in the Big East. Let's look right now at things since Syracuse joined the ACC in twenty thirteen. Since Syracuse joined the ACC in twenty thirteen, it's winning percentage in ACC regular season games is fifty one percent. Syracuse's winning percentage in Big East regular season games in its last thirteen years in that conference was sixty nine percent. And Dan, let's go even further. Syracuse was able to make multiple deep runs in the NCAA Tournament as a member of the ACC. 00:08:25 Speaker 2: Credit to them. 00:08:26 Speaker 4: In twenty sixteen when Syracuse went to the Final four, it was a ten seed. In twenty eighteen when Syracuse went to the Sweet sixteen, it was also a double digit seed, and was an eleven seed in twenty twenty one when it went to the Sweet sixteen. A big part of that is, obviously Jim Beaheim has always been a great tournament coach. With the zone, Syracuse doesn't change anything on a two day turnaround when you have a two to three zone. Obviously on defense, it's a difficult threat for the opposing team. But really, their tournament runs as double digit seeds has massed in some ways over the last decade that this program has not performed anywhere close to what it was performing at at the level that it was in the old Big East. 00:09:06 Speaker 2: Yeah, those are great points. Your upset special today. 00:09:09 Speaker 4: Is you know I'm doing games today, Dan so I'm gonna stay away from that one right now because we got these four games in Saint Louis. But I am excited, obviously, look like I think now, and I'm obviously somebody you know who you know eats the stuff for breakfast, lunch, and dinner three hundred and sixty five days a year. But you know, narratives are so funny to me. Stuff was being put out in the atmosphere that like Cinderella is dead because of nil and the haves and the have nots. The greatness about the NCAA Tournament is what we saw yesterday. And think about what we have seen in the first three days. Miami, Ohio was terrific against smu hy point Beta Wisconsin team again that wanted Illinois, wanted Purdue and won a Michigan. And then we have two teams from the Atlantic ten and VCU and Saint Louis obviously move on to the. 00:10:01 Speaker 2: Round of thirty two. 00:10:02 Speaker 4: And Sienna, who didn't even win the MAC took Duke to the wire. So I think, you know, we also have to remind ourselves three years ago we had a final Core game where it was San Diego State against Florida Atlantic and two years ago, NC State, a team that was losing to Louisville at halftime on Tuesday of the ACC Tournament, was able to win five games in five days at the ACC Tournament and then win four more to advance obviously to the final four. So it is the greatest event in sports, and I think we're thankful that we have it in its current form. 00:10:35 Speaker 2: Great stuff. Thank you John, thank you Dan. Appreciate having Then that's John Rothstein, CBS Sports. He's a college basketball insider and he's working for CBS also CBS Sports Network as well. He also brought up something recently where he talked about there are really no great jobs that are open that it would be a foregone conclusion that Jerry mcnamin, our former Syracuse great, would leave Sienna and drive the whatever it is hour or so to Syracuse and take the job. But is Syracuse a really good job it used to be and what John is saying it's not now? Is BC a good you know that? Like, you look at these openings and there's a reason why they're open. Do you wait another year? And I think that's the interesting part here is everybody, you know, we love change, you know, it's weird. Sometimes we don't like change at all. But then we're like, well I fire that coach. You got to get rid of him. Well who you bring it in? That's always my point is, Okay, there's certain coaches where you go, he's not right for the job. But who are you bringing in? That's always the key. Hubert Davis. I'm sure North Carolina is like, you know, we got to do something here. That's another first round exit. Okay, but if you had a healthy team, are you losing that game? Are you going to be in the position that you were being seated where you were would you have been a better seat? And the answer is yes. All right. Some phone calls in here Monica and Raleigh, Monica, how are you feeling today? 00:12:20 Speaker 5: And well, I'm not doing so great because my heels lost last night unfortunately. 00:12:26 Speaker 2: Yep, But I'm with you on that. 00:12:29 Speaker 5: Hebert Davis should be allowed to continue to coach. He is a great coach. We were injured this year. 00:12:35 Speaker 6: He's fantastic. Kay Wilson was a deal breaker. 00:12:38 Speaker 7: We all saw it. 00:12:38 Speaker 5: They looked a little tired last night. I was about ready to fall asleep, and I. 00:12:42 Speaker 8: Was like, oh, we're going to win. 00:12:44 Speaker 7: Nope, sure enough. 00:12:46 Speaker 2: There it goes. 00:12:47 Speaker 5: Anyway, just wanted to tell a little story. I love the basketball tournament. Is my favorite time of the year. 00:12:53 Speaker 8: Is my little sanctuary. 00:12:54 Speaker 5: My dad and I went for thirty years in a row, picking a first and second round where to go. Sometimes it was in Greensboro. My first year I was nine years old, went to Knoxville, so much fun. Then we went to Lexington, all over the place and we would get a program and just look at the next team that we'd play next year. 00:13:13 Speaker 2: Who's going to play here next year? 00:13:15 Speaker 5: It was so much fun. And I just loved this basketball tournament and wanted to also say we watched the first four and that is going to probably continue to go as far as money is concerned. And I'm talking too much, Yeah all right. 00:13:38 Speaker 2: Yeah, wait wait, did your husband just give you the wrap up sign? 00:13:42 Speaker 7: He did? 00:13:43 Speaker 6: He did? 00:13:46 Speaker 2: Why didn't you tell his business? All right? 00:13:49 Speaker 5: Right? Indeed, indeed, so basketball season is now over, so go raise on this season. But also wanted to say watching the first. 00:13:58 Speaker 2: Flour age, thank you, thank you Monica. 00:14:01 Speaker 3: Yeah, man, that dude didn't call in Monica. Yeah, you don't get to be a back seat driver on her phone call here. 00:14:07 Speaker 2: Yeah, she shut up to call in on your own. It's talking to Monica. I think that's enough. David in Ohio, Hi, David, Hi David. 00:14:20 Speaker 6: Hey Dan, happy to meet Friday Nobody. I had a quick theory as to why Marvin took the day off yesterday before you said what you said earlier. I thought maybe he went and got an enlargement procedure done yesterday. 00:14:33 Speaker 2: So thank you, thank you, good call. That's a great call. Yeah, Hey guys, happening to me Friday Nobody. Yeah, it was a teaching moment, Marvin, that's all. It's a cheaching moment. This is what I do. And just you know, you have something like that, there's a mishap and then you teach one teaching No, but you're right. 00:14:56 Speaker 9: But who's your all time starting center in my lifetime? 00:14:59 Speaker 2: Notnthony Davis. The best center that you ever saw in your lifetime in college basketball is Anthony Davis. 00:15:12 Speaker 9: Yes, he had an unbelievably dominant season at Kentucky that one. 00:15:16 Speaker 2: Year he didn't score in the national title game. 00:15:19 Speaker 9: He's also got as many national titles as Patrick Ewing. 00:15:22 Speaker 2: Who would you rather have on your team, Marvin? Anthony Davis or Patrick Ewing? 00:15:30 Speaker 9: What Patrick Ewing? Okay, and that wasn't like a surefire, like, oh, no doubt. 00:15:38 Speaker 2: Why don't you go watch some old Georgetown videos with Patrick Ewing? He I can't like. This is what drives me crazy with the youth of America. I might suspend you for another day, he asked Paulie. 00:15:55 Speaker 10: I see what Marvin is saying by the center position, because have there been great centers in the past thirty years. I'm talking from ninety five on Marvin z era centers, not power forwards masquerading. 00:16:08 Speaker 2: Yeah, but he was gonna take Anthony Davis over Patrick Ewing. 00:16:11 Speaker 10: That is he's that's Are you gonna. 00:16:13 Speaker 2: Take him over a keem Elijah one? You're gonna take him over Bill Walton? 00:16:19 Speaker 9: No, no, no, never, Bill Walton. Bill wats a surefire. That's not even a question. 00:16:23 Speaker 2: Okay, all right, just man, But you're. 00:16:26 Speaker 9: Talking about in college and I know Patrick guill. 00:16:29 Speaker 2: Was unbelievable Patrick Ewing, But. 00:16:31 Speaker 9: Anthony Davis for that one season, that one shining moment, all right, he dominated. Okay, let me let it, like I said, a scrub and he wasn't street closed back then. 00:16:47 Speaker 10: Yeah, paul I have Anthony Davis's bio for Basketball Reference and University Kentucky. 00:16:52 Speaker 2: Why don't we wait till after the break here, it'll shake this up. Let's let everybody calm down. Ay, I gotta take a breath. Yeah, okay, it got composer. People think that there's something you know, deeper going on with Marvin and me and I. It's not. You know, I'm your boss. Something happened, We treated it. Now, we move on. I don't want anything to linger from your suspense from your day off. Okay, fair enough, fair enough, all right, just take a break here. We're back after this. 00:17:19 Speaker 1: Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. 00:17:29 Speaker 11: Hey, this is Jason McIntyre. Dan Patrick, I know some of you may live vicariously through me, because I lived the life after all, And I mentioned yesterday on the show, I was taking my youngest daughter to Dave and Busters last night, and I did. Now, she's I think twenty seven or twenty eight, and we went to Dave and Busters. We were obviously the oldest people in the Dave and Busters game area, and they have some new contraption. You know, remember the claw where you could kind of manipulate it and then get a stuffed animal you know, would go and then oh sometimes you'd get this stuffed animal tough. Yeah, Well we have the human claw. So they wrapped my daughter in some kind of contraption, lifted her up and then she got to hover over this pit that had all kinds of inflatables, like a tube there was a an alien. I got a banana, so she was hovering over and she was the human claw. And I went to Dave and Busters and I got a very large inflatable banana. 00:19:27 Speaker 10: Yes, I am currently on davinbusters dot com. 00:19:30 Speaker 2: Of course they. 00:19:31 Speaker 10: Call it the human crane. 00:19:32 Speaker 2: Then, okay, how about that? 00:19:33 Speaker 10: And you're like I said, you're wrapped up like a burrito suspended and you can dip in and grab some gear. 00:19:41 Speaker 2: And then I decided I wasn't going to do this because it felt like somebody there was a photo op for somebody getting me, you know, flying over, you know, being a human crane. But we watched some basketball at Dave and Busters of course, had some spinach dip you know, the usual head wings, and we got to go played air hockey. You know it's a great day. 00:20:06 Speaker 8: Yeah. 00:20:06 Speaker 2: His daughter, that's awesome, and she suggested it. She was like, hey, feels like a David Buster's night. I said, hell, yes, every night does a seat which you update the poll results? 00:20:17 Speaker 6: Oh? 00:20:17 Speaker 2: Did you get the Anthony Davis stats there? Pauline. So Marvin says, Anthony Davis in his lifetime, is the greatest center that he ever saw in college basketball history. 00:20:27 Speaker 10: The issue for Marvin is I checked multiple sources, including University of Kentucky. He was a forward. He was listed as a forward at his entire time, all forty games he played. Now he was great. Fourteen points, ten rebounds, four point seven blocks. Wow, first team All American. But he was a forward. Marvin, are you gonna run me again? 00:20:49 Speaker 2: No? No, no, no, no, this is this is just a kind of put your tiny hands in like the Madonna song, I will be your father figure, put your tiny hands in mine. 00:21:03 Speaker 9: I believe that's George Michael. 00:21:05 Speaker 2: Wait, I thought that was Madonna. 00:21:07 Speaker 9: I will be your father figure. Put your hands in marves. 00:21:12 Speaker 2: Oh, I thought that was Madonna. George Michael. Yeah, all right, well still put your tiny hands in mind. Papa, don't preach mom. Maybe that's what it is, Papa, don't preach. 00:21:24 Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I think the problem that we're having here with sorry, if I could get back to Patrick Ewing and Anthony Davis, I apologize. But what we're talking about is longevity as much as you can in college basketball versus a single season. 00:21:42 Speaker 2: And Anthony Davis had the better head. He had. 00:21:44 Speaker 3: His one year was better than any of Patrick Ewing's individual years but Patrick Ewing had a better career. 00:21:51 Speaker 2: But Patrick Ewing his impact on college basketball far greater in all of his years than Anthony Davis with his one year. Patrick Ewing was the face he was college basketball back then. Anthony Davis was just part of a Kentucky team that was really, really good and won a national title. 00:22:12 Speaker 9: Yes, but that's the thing with airrors. Patrick Ewing in this era would have been a one and done guy. So that's the only thing. I don't have much to choose from when you're talking about great centers. 00:22:23 Speaker 2: But imagine Patrick Ewing in today's game. 00:22:27 Speaker 9: With the fifteen foot jumper and the defensive. 00:22:28 Speaker 2: Ability, defensive ability and no other big men to guard. 00:22:33 Speaker 9: Him thirty and fifteen every night. 00:22:38 Speaker 10: Yesing like Sena saying, it's like greatest career versus playing ability. At the time, they were at their peak, and that freshman year by Anthony Davis was nuts. It's like, there's probably better point guards in history than Allen Iverson, but those first two years at Georgetown that was special stuff. So you may pick Iverson over I don't know. 00:22:58 Speaker 2: I don't have Marvin. Who do you pick out? Who's your point guard? I Jay Williams Okay, that's any Yeah, I mean one year. Oh he had three years, I duke, Yeah, but you got to take one year. 00:23:11 Speaker 9: Take one year? 00:23:11 Speaker 2: Yeah, I think. Is that how we're going to correct? 00:23:13 Speaker 3: Answers Alan Iverson, Yes, only correct if we're going one year? 00:23:17 Speaker 9: Alan Iverson? 00:23:18 Speaker 2: Man, was he a thing? Though he was? 00:23:20 Speaker 3: There was this run that I just remember. I hated Georgetown as a kid because every year they got a new absolute superstar. And the only thing that made Allen Iverson different was every year he had like, oh it's Patrick Ewing, Well he's going to be gone. Oh great, here comes you know, to ken Bay Matumbo. Oh what the hell are we going to do now? And then Alonzo Morning comes in after that, and then they finally got away from big men to. 00:23:42 Speaker 2: Get Allen Iverson. It's like what the hell? At the school? And Iverson spent two years there Georgetown. 00:23:49 Speaker 10: Iverson sophomore year twenty five points per game, five assists, and led the nation and steals with three point four steals. 00:23:58 Speaker 2: I don't remember ever playing defense in the NBA, but at Georgetown, John Thompson made him play some defense there. 00:24:04 Speaker 9: Yes, Mark No, I remember him getting steals, but then I remember him getting burned about eighty percent of the time when he tried to go for steels CAUs. Oh, yeah, I think he led the leaguan steels in the NBA also, but he was so quick he would just go through the passing almost like in a Larry Bird type of way. 00:24:19 Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Larry Bird might have led the league in steals. Can you check this stat? Has the Joker since twenty ten or No. Twenty twenty led the NBA in points, rebounds, assists and steals? I think, yok, Yeah. 00:24:39 Speaker 10: I have his stats. I he averaged twenty nine points six one year. That was last year. 00:24:46 Speaker 2: No, No, he scored the most points. Oh, he's had the most rebounds, not average, the most assists and most steals checking. I think as just a sidebar on the steels, Take me a second. Yeah, there are guys you come up with steels where you go Damn. And I didn't necessarily mean you're a great defender. Larry Bird always played the passing lanes, they would say. And all you need to know is when Charles Barkley says, I'll never be the worst defender in the league as long as Larry Bird is still in the league. Yes, Seaton. 00:25:18 Speaker 3: I think that there are defenders and then there are like disruptors. Alan Iverson was a disruptor. Yeah, he would kind of get that steel here and there, but you wouldn't really call him a great defender. There are other guys were great defenders. 00:25:29 Speaker 10: Yes, boy, Iverson led the league in steels three consecutive seasons, aged twenty five twenty seven. 00:25:34 Speaker 2: Okay, but I don't think he was a good defender. 00:25:38 Speaker 10: He he made He was the DePoy Top ten defensive Player of the Year four different times. 00:25:45 Speaker 2: Yeah, boy, they must have been watching different games. 00:25:49 Speaker 10: Well, it's one of those where if you lead the league in steels, you automatically make that list. 00:25:53 Speaker 2: Well, it's like Ben Wallace. Ben was an unbelievable help defender, but not necessarily on ball defend under Yeah, see. 00:26:03 Speaker 3: Where you get those strips. You're coming from the backside of a great defender. There, that's right, I did that. Andrew and Washington, Hi Andrew, welcome. 00:26:14 Speaker 7: Back, Good morning, Dan. Then thanks for taking my call. First of all, a duke one, all you have to do is win in advance. If everybody wants to get off the bandwagon, that's fine. I'll stay on it. Secondly, I lived at high Point for about seven years. High Point North Town, a great city, has been through a lot. A lot of their manufacturing and furniture is left for different areas, and so it took a hit in the early two thousands. It's great to see that that city is being built back up and that that college has been really revamped. My dad still lives right off of Westchester Avenue and high Point, North Carolina. It still has the largest home furnishing show in the world in the spring and the fall, so that's kind of its meal ticket and that kind of sustained the city during some down economic times. It's great to see. Also, I would pick jilil okafor for the best center in college basketball as far as during Marvin's life my life, just because he did win a championship in Duke, he was a one and done. I think he just had a better year all around than Anthony Davis did during his championship year. And one other thing of that of the day, you know, the disappointment Draft was around Arizona, and Arizona has created a curse for the whole West coast. Do you realize since Arizona wonder national championship in nineteen ninety seven, there's not been a men's college basketball team to win the national championship west of Texas, Arizona. 00:27:34 Speaker 2: Curse. Yeah, stat of the day the day, go, stat of the day, stat of the day, it comes that what stat. 00:27:45 Speaker 5: Of the day? 00:27:48 Speaker 11: Yeah? 00:27:48 Speaker 2: I saw that stat of course on Facebook where they were talking about national champs and. 00:27:56 Speaker 10: We had to cut your screen time. 00:27:58 Speaker 2: I spent a lot of time on Facebook, not Facebook marketplace. But I'll tell you what, if you're selling corduroy on Facebook, I'm all in. Because my wife said you gotta stop doing this. I said no, I don't, No, I don't. And because a package will show up and should go. Corto Roye a go, yeah, yeah, hey, jump on the bandwagon. I got Corter roy on today. You can call me roy Hey roy Yeah, jealous, maybe a little. You got Jalil Okafor's stats, Paulie. 00:28:42 Speaker 10: You know that's a good poll by him, because oka For's pro career was a bit of a disappointment. His rookie year in I've heard his first year with Duke, he was first team All American ACC Best Player of the Year, one of the best players in college basketball you everage seventeen and nine. 00:28:58 Speaker 2: It's all right. 00:29:00 Speaker 10: He got everything he could win his freshman year, I mean, and he was listed at center. Yeah. 00:29:09 Speaker 2: Was Tim Duncan listed at center at Wake Forest? Well, you weren't alive, Marvin, I was. 00:29:17 Speaker 9: I was there for Tim Dunkey versus Marcus Camby, Oh, Wake Forest versus. 00:29:23 Speaker 2: Yeah, So why didn't you pick Tim Duncan. 00:29:26 Speaker 9: That's a big miss on my part Tim Duncan. 00:29:29 Speaker 2: Okay, would you rather have Tim m Duncan? Okay, I'm just saying. 00:29:34 Speaker 9: You could have said just about anybody else, and I would have picked Tim Duncan. 00:29:37 Speaker 10: Yes, Paul Duncan was listed at center all four years a. 00:29:40 Speaker 2: Week, but then he went to the NBA and he wanted to be listed as a forward. 00:29:43 Speaker 10: It's very wonky. His first eight years in the pros, Duncan was a power forward. His last ten list at center. 00:29:50 Speaker 2: Yeah, but he's considered or in the conversation with the best power forward in NBA history. Because if you're a center, he's not going to be listed among the best centers of all time. Joe and Syracuse, Good morning Joe, what's on your mind? Good morning Dan? How are you today? They Joe, Yeah, good. 00:30:11 Speaker 8: Hey, I love all the Syracuse talk. By the way, hopefully I can do justice to Christ and Syracuse. 00:30:16 Speaker 2: I know he calls every day. 00:30:17 Speaker 8: But so I know all you guys. You guys are all pretty big fans, or at least somewhat followed w W Right. I would say probably Paul's the biggest fan, would that be right? 00:30:26 Speaker 2: Probably not. I don't know if we have too many wrestling fans in here, is it? Marvin? You're all you're a wrestling fan. You got your your rowdy Roddy Piper. 00:30:41 Speaker 9: I do my Roddy Piper hoodie. 00:30:43 Speaker 2: Okay, all right, so awesome, Joe Marvin Poll. 00:30:48 Speaker 8: Okay, So I have a pie of the face here and and might no one might accept it because it's just too obvious at this point, but I'm going to be the first to call it. So you guys have probably seen all this stuff going out with Logan Paul and Tom Brady and all this stuff. So WrestleMania this year is in Vegas, right Obviously Tom Brady partly owns the Raiders and whatever. 00:31:12 Speaker 2: And now you got Gronk. So I'm calling it right now. 00:31:16 Speaker 8: Tom Brady and Gronx are going to be in a tag team match at wrestle Media against Logan Paul and Austin Theory, who's also part of the team. So Tom Brady will appear at WrestleMania. I'm playing it now. Anyone want to take me up on that bet? And he doesn't show up, Hi to the. 00:31:31 Speaker 2: Face, Joe, for your sake, I hope he shows up and you get your dream come true. That maybe Tom Brady and Espedo is wrestling him and Gronk tag team. Oh yeah, and then who's this who he's supposed to be dating? Is that. 00:31:56 Speaker 8: A l i X? 00:31:58 Speaker 2: They saw it on Facebook? Of course, No, no, no, no, no no, I'm not shopping for that, just saying swipe right, Yeah, isn't it Alex Earl? I believe so? 00:32:17 Speaker 9: I believe that's the. 00:32:18 Speaker 2: Yes, Tom. 00:32:18 Speaker 12: I think she was on Dancing with the Stars, not that I watched that show anything. 00:32:21 Speaker 2: Wait you think or you know White George. 00:32:23 Speaker 9: She was one of the Dancing with the Stars ladies. 00:32:25 Speaker 2: Yeah, I think she's a She was a big deal. And then Tom's supposed to be dating her. I think AnyWho, we'll take a break here. We'll get more phone calls coming out. Dylan is going to come in from the kitchen. We got some gambling. I don't even know what the topic is with Dylan other than we had a very festive gambling podcast. Did you do the Todd cast yesterday? 00:32:52 Speaker 5: Todd? 00:32:53 Speaker 9: We did not. 00:32:54 Speaker 12: We're going to do I think the next one. We're gonna do two next week as far as I know. Monday and Wednesday. 00:32:58 Speaker 9: We're going to record a couple. 00:32:59 Speaker 2: And we'll see yourself though, like two in one week is a lot. 00:33:03 Speaker 13: We were supposed to do one over the last couple of days and it just didn't work out in scheduling, so I think we're going to double up the. 00:33:08 Speaker 2: Why didn't you do one today after the show? 00:33:10 Speaker 9: We could? 00:33:10 Speaker 13: I think this the twelve fifteen podcast is other things going on in the studio, so let them know. The next one will be Monday after the show. 00:33:17 Speaker 2: Okay, all right, we'll take a break back after this. 00:33:20 Speaker 1: Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to listen live. 00:33:32 Speaker 2: I don't know the difference between corn beef and pastrami, but ted pastrami taste great. Of course, you know, being the head of quality control here, I had to go out and sample it. But that's our meat Friday today. Yes, Paulie, pastrami versus corn beef, Dan, we have that ready to go. Corn beef boiled or steamed, while pastrami usually seasoned with spices and smoked, sometimes steamed. And that's why pastrami is better than corn beef and usually darker to the I. Yes, yes, and that's the case. Dylan did a great job with meat Friday. Where's the Oh, there's Dylan. Hey man, Hey Dylan, what do you have for me? 00:34:09 Speaker 14: We got a little March madness, fun stuff. Okay, look back at yesterday and I have a bit of a dilemma that I need some help from the class with. 00:34:17 Speaker 2: All right, the gambling dilemma. All right, So aside from your microphone being a little shaky, is it a little shaky? It doesn't sound great, doesn't sound that could just be me? Do you want to do you want to sit in fritzy seat or seat and seat No, just just to make sure that we send the message out properly. Todd, you don't have to get up to Dylan. Dylan only needs one seat. God ran out I think he was going out to have some corn beef. I'm onto you, toddler. Usually he takes my spots. 00:34:49 Speaker 9: I thought I was doing the right thing. 00:34:50 Speaker 2: Seaton jumped up and said, sit here, please, all right, Dylan, what do you have for us? 00:34:55 Speaker 14: Well, let's look at a little bit of the upsets from yesterday. 00:34:57 Speaker 2: Dan. 00:34:58 Speaker 14: It was fairly chalky. I think we can all agree. High Point was the high water mark for the dogs, which you know, I had not a big deal. 00:35:09 Speaker 2: TCU. 00:35:10 Speaker 14: There are a lot of two and a half point dogs that won. TCU VCU, Texas and Saint Louis were all two and a half point underdogs, all one outright, Okay, high Point was obviously the biggest at plus ten and a half. But it was pretty It was pretty chalky the teams that lost but covered, which for the gamblers out there, this is an important category. South Florida on the nose there plus four and a half against Louisville lost by four. You either hater loved to see that. Siena was plus twenty seven and a half against. 00:35:41 Speaker 2: Duke that. 00:35:44 Speaker 14: Was gone and dead immediately. And then Howard plus thirty and a half against Michigan was actually the most popular dog by handle yesterday, Howard. 00:35:56 Speaker 2: I've got l IU minus thirty and a half or plus thirty and a half against Arizona, Tennessee State, getting twenty four and a half against Iowa State, Wright State, eighteen and a half against Virginia Prairie View getting thirty five and a half against Florida Queens North Carolina getting twenty five and a half against Purdue Northern Iowa getting nine and a half versus Saint John's. 00:36:21 Speaker 14: Thirty five and a half with Prairie View is tantalizing. 00:36:27 Speaker 2: But this is why you always lose money. 00:36:30 Speaker 14: I went undefeated yesterday, Dan for the first time in I know. 00:36:34 Speaker 2: But if anybody has listened to the Gambling podcast, you're not very good. 00:36:39 Speaker 14: There's a couple guys out there with Bentley's if you faded. 00:36:42 Speaker 2: You are, You're funny, you're entertaining, but you're not very good gambler. 00:36:48 Speaker 14: It's a losing proposition. I've accepted that. Then we actually speak of disappointments. Would you like an update on our disappointment draft standings from yesterday? 00:36:56 Speaker 2: Yes? Yes, this was something different where there were people who are actually rooting for Duke to lose because we wanted, you know, you'd get more points if a number one seed bowed out, you get four points as opposed to it was the top four seeds in all of the brackets. And then we had a snake draft and a lot of people have Duke going a long way in the tournament, but I was rooting for Sienna to pull off the upset. 00:37:22 Speaker 14: All right, Neil, Well, then you are actually tied at the top with Paul and Marvin slash me. I guess at seven under, okay, they had Michigan and Illinois one. Todd isn't second at six under Gonzaga one, which is bad for him, and then Seaton is at five under with the Duke. W Do you have a parlay going today? Yes, so this is the predicament. I bet a ten leg parlay yesterday. 00:37:50 Speaker 2: I tell you parlay's are death. Yeah, I know, But there's a twist. 00:37:57 Speaker 14: I've hit eight of the ten legs as nine dollars to win, like fifty six hundred, okay, and I've been offered the cash out option of one thousand and fourteen dollars. 00:38:10 Speaker 2: No, we're letting it ride. 00:38:12 Speaker 14: People online are There's a bit of both, but a lot of people said that it is just cowardly to not let it ride. Okay, give me the other two legs here. I need Akron plus eight against Texas Tech. I like that, and your Arizona Wildcat's minus thirty one against Liu. 00:38:31 Speaker 2: Oh, it's now up to thirty one, not thirty point thirty and a half. 00:38:35 Speaker 14: It was thirty one when I bet it's now down to thirty. 00:38:38 Speaker 2: And a half. 00:38:39 Speaker 10: Okay, yes, Bully, just to clarify, you could tap out now for a thousand or ride it for fifty six hundred. 00:38:45 Speaker 14: I need those two games today for fifty six hundred. 00:38:48 Speaker 2: Oh man, Okay, what would you do? Todd? 00:38:53 Speaker 12: It's not my money, I would let it ride, but I think those two will work for him. 00:38:56 Speaker 2: No, if it's your money, what would you do? 00:38:59 Speaker 9: I would let it? 00:39:00 Speaker 2: Would I would? 00:39:01 Speaker 12: I would let it ride. I thought you're like giving advice to Dylan. I would let it ride. 00:39:04 Speaker 2: Okay, Dylan, you hold off on what you're gonna do. Marvin, what would you do? 00:39:10 Speaker 9: I'd let it ride? 00:39:11 Speaker 2: Seaton? What would you do if you're Dylan? 00:39:14 Speaker 3: I think if Dylan wanted to do an eight leg parlay, he would have done an eight leg parlay but he did. 00:39:18 Speaker 2: A ten, so ride with the ten. 00:39:20 Speaker 10: Paul, fifty six hundred is a nice chunk of money. You could do something with that. If you take the thousand and you they either hit you, regret it forever, take it, let it ride. 00:39:30 Speaker 2: Yeah, I would let it run. This wasn't even a question of course. Okay, all right. 00:39:36 Speaker 14: However, if it was like if say they're offering like three grand as the cash out option, might consider it. 00:39:43 Speaker 2: Okay, what time are the games? Because can you win nine legs of a ten leg parlay? And then they can say do you want to cash out? And it might be like thirty two hundred? Yeah, PAULI is it Akron Texas Tech? 00:39:56 Speaker 10: Dylan, Yeah, that's at twelve forty Eastern lu Arizona is at one thirty five pm Easter so they're going on simultaneously. 00:40:03 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, do you. 00:40:04 Speaker 14: Guys want me to tell you exactly what's gonna happen? Yes, Akron's gonna cover and then I'll get to watch the second half of Arizona blow it. 00:40:10 Speaker 2: By like one point and then lose on the last leg. They're gonna win by twenty nine. 00:40:15 Speaker 13: Yep, Yes, Todd, is there any negotiating with the cash out option. 00:40:19 Speaker 12: That's just the digital, nameless, faceless thing that pops up. 00:40:22 Speaker 9: On your screen. 00:40:23 Speaker 12: I don't know how that works. 00:40:24 Speaker 2: You're at the whim of the powers that be, Todd. 00:40:26 Speaker 13: You can't contact someone and say if you give me thirty three twelve oh eight, I'm good and I'll not let it ride. 00:40:32 Speaker 2: Usually doesn't work well with a bookie. You try to do that, I'm just gonna say probably not. Yes do. 00:40:40 Speaker 14: I'm nervous, Dan, I haven't been nervous like this in a while. This is a this could be really big for me and the brand. Yep, the brand, Yes, the brand of the losing gambler who had a completely hail married parlay. 00:40:52 Speaker 2: I actually you have a brand. Everybody has a brand. I guess Alrighty the books on this Meet Friday, Dylan, get back in the kitchen, got to prepare Final Hour on the way. More of your phone calls as well, Todd's here, Seaton, Marv, Paulie, yours truly in the back room guys as well. Final hour this Meet Friday. Right after this
