And you think the Phillies good starting pitching was just gonna stop like the Dodgers, you know, are not the home team in the series. You know, there's a lot of great teams this year, really good teams, and the Blue Jays are one of them. Really good team. Ernie Clement Lucas, these role players that's what baseball's about, people stepping up. He can't win with just Aaron Judge and swinging for the fences. So the teams that are left right now are really great teams. So of course the Phillies are gonna take one. And they left kershaw And way too long yesterday. We agree on that. But the Dodgers do face challenges today. Danny G made a hometown point here. Dodgers Stadium wasn't meant for day games in October like this, so a lot of shadows they're gonna have to battle. But still it's gonna be a fun one to watch today. Iowa Sam is here, Dan Bayer's here, Spotty's here, and again we're coven On Rich, We're year here. My team's out. I'm a Yankees fan. Now what I'm bitter. I'm in that bitter stage of like Scoot him, I wasted my whole year.

But my question is this, when your team is out, I'm not saying do you pull another rooting interest, but if you're a sports fan, you still want to like watch or not? Do you pow like I'm not watching, so the season's over for you? Are you really a sports fan if that's your angle here? So rooting's not the word rich. It's almost like, do you pull for someone else or is there a storyline that is automatically the default? Like is the storyline the Brewers then? Because no one expected them to win, they're a young team. I mean, I think there's two ways to go about it. I mean, your team's out of it. I have friends that at this point say I'm done watching, and you have other friends for me, sure you have other friends that are like, dude, it's a postseason. What do you mean you're not watching? I think what you do when your team is out of it, you don't jump on a bandwagon. But I think what you do is you, uh, you step on one you don't need to. You don't ever claim to be a fan of that team. But right now, as a Mets fan, they failed to make the post postseason. They stink. But if I said, you know what, cal Rawley's having a magical year, I do like everyone on that team. It's a really likable team. They've never won before. Maybe I'll pull for the Mariners. Maybe you root for a good pal like Dan Byer and say, you know, hey, Man Brewers, Cheerio terrang Rich.

Speaker 8: But I actually think one of the great things about being a sports fan is watching an event and having a natural reaction to a game that you didn't know that you were cheering for a certain team. You may have no dog in the fight, yeah, but if you sit down tonight and watch one of these two games, there may be a team where obviously you're just like, yeah, you know what, I kind of want the Brewers, Tom Win. I love that about being a sports fan is you go into a game thinking you don't care, and you come out of it and you're like, why was I rooting for that team?

Speaker 1: And that's what I love about fighting, right, because there's so many times in a preliminary fight or whatever, you're watching two guys you don't really know, but by the middle of that fight, you're pulling for somebody. Yeah, you're like, yeah, I want that guy. And I love that About this thought and about this theory, I'm gonna watch these games now, I'm going to figure it out. So I'm thinking it's Brewers. I really am he to get back in. How can I root for the Dodgers? How can I root for the Dodgers when they beat the Yankees in the World Series? But then again, I live in La what's the mindset here? But I do love that thought that Dan Bayer just shared, and I expressed that when it comes to fighting, your heart or your decision comes from the sense of they got this underdog fight that I relate to, and I want to see this guy win. You could feel that way about a team you're not necessarily rooting for, but now you're pulling for. So where do your rooting interests go when your team is out? That's the question. Well, some people go with the mindset of well, I'm just going to root for a team that eliminated mind, which I never got. But there are people that that's a mindset.

I love that about the Blue Jays. I just don't like them. I'm an American League East fan. There's no way room for the Blue Jays. So again, guys, what do you do in these situations anti Canadian. Do you have a formula or does it happen organically the way Bayer described Damn Bayer describes something we've talked about for years, which I'm great. I'm so glad he said that because there have been so many times where you are watching a fight. Fighting is the best example where man don't got a horse in this race. By like the sixth round, you're like, oh, I want this guy. Can I tell you this to others? Like his attitude or his hard or as fire you made. There's two other instances where I feel like this is very present. One's a little more controversial.

Something's gonna happen along the way. We're like, all right, now that's the one. I'm There's something will happen along the way when you're in a love triangle. And I think about this in politics, I have you know, there's plenty of people that love to say, Hey, I'm down the middle, I'm you know, I'm not a Democrat or Republican. On election night, your true feelings come out because when someone's leading, you're either like oh or still making a choice. Yeah, you're making a choice because on election night, on election night, I guarantee you might have said I'm Luke wh I lover hate Donald Trump.

Speaker 1: I guarantee you on election night, when results start coming back in, you have an opinion. I like the underdog stories, I like the unexpected. But I'll make that choice. Maybe tonight Philly's at Dodgers, Brewers at Cubs, and of course you got your Thursday night football Eagles Giants, And I will tell you this Rich. You know, from a professional standpoint, guys like dB, especially guys like dB, he's your update guy. He's the guy that has to know Covino and Rich the shows here. We have to keep an eye on what's going on, right and plus it's fun for us, But where does the rooting interest really go here? The game I got my eye on the most by far is gonna be Brewers Cubs. The excitement we saw yesterday, the fire we saw yesterday the storyline we've heard all year about the Brewers, like are they the real deal? You know they deserve it. Let's let this team win, Let's see what happens. Let's show the world that it doesn't have to be a giant market that takes it all, like the good old fashioned baseball prevails and that's where the game should be heading toward. And I think that baseball could need that. So I'll be I'll be watching that game to see if I could organically now say yeah, I'm pulling for.

Yeah, basketball and hockey era on the horizon, So there's something to be said about that. I feel like I'm all alone. Now, why are you miss Would you be inclined to if they both advanced? They haven't seen the World Series since then, so that the storyline alone is intriguing. What pulls you in? You want to get more pulled in? Watch uh, put the google this well, look up the speed that Jelich gave to them. I love that the team. I sure that guy. I think he's a great dude. I think he's a great comeback story. He has a hot mom, Madam. We've interviewed him. He's a likable guy. Yeah.

I'm very unfair to the Minnesota Twins because they won two World Series titles right when I was in the in the prime of loving sports, Like I remember World Series prior to that, but when you're really grasping it, it was nineteen eighty seven. I would have been ten at the time. Then they went again in nineteen ninety one. I think the same thing with the Blue Jays. I think the Blue Jays are a great story, but there was a time that you're thinking to come yes exactly the early nineties where they were the team that got Jamal Joe not only you couldn't beat, but they would get the best players. Now the Brewers didn't treat Paul Malader great on the way out. So he goes to Toronto and wins, and maybe that would be a reason. But there were times where the Brewers were battling in the Al East with Toronto, like Toronto was a hated team to me, I didn't like the Blue Jays'.

We're saying, just for the fun of watching. Does your interest then turn to the players if you're so against teams, because you know, I do watch football in that way. I root for certain players, So maybe players is the answer here. But I'll tell you what, I'll make that choice tonight. My eye is on the Brewers Cubs. We'll see what happens and enjoy it. If your team's still enjoy it, mine's not. And I do think Dan Bayer made a great point. You not having an NFL team that you really claim is your own keeps you a little more locked in, because I will say, once the Mets were eliminated, focus it was like, all right, I'm watching, but now like my main attention goes towards the Niners.
