<v Speaker 1>than life treasure hunting competition at our beck and call here?
<v Speaker 1>Oh my gosh, it is the Goonies versus Indiana Jones
<v Speaker 1>and the Temple of Doom.
<v Speaker 2>When you're talking about influential movies from the eighties, yeah,
<v Speaker 2>these are two of the big I mean, these movies
<v Speaker 2>impacted generations.
<v Speaker 1>My kids love them, your kids love them. We still
<v Speaker 1>love them.
<v Speaker 2>And actually we are finishing off the Indiana Jones trilogy today.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. It's so we say trilogy because once you're done
<v Speaker 1>with Last Crusade, you might as well stop. That is true, right,
<v Speaker 1>that's true. But for those of you who are just
<v Speaker 1>joining us today. Please go back and check out our
<v Speaker 1>other Indiana Jones episodes. We have one of our very
<v Speaker 1>first in our very first seasons, we have a matchup
<v Speaker 1>of Indiana Jones and The Raiders of the Lost Arc versus.
<v Speaker 2>Lucas tried to change the name a few years ago,
<v Speaker 2>and I have always rejected that that movie is called
<v Speaker 2>Raiders of the Lost Arc.
<v Speaker 1>I actually am fully with you. I think that maybe
<v Speaker 1>the first time I ever said that I've just got
<v Speaker 1>stuck on Indiana Jones. Oh gayse, forgive me, absolve me
<v Speaker 1>of my sins. Right, So we did Raiders of the
<v Speaker 1>Lost Arc versus Back to the Future, Yes, which is
<v Speaker 1>a great connection that we almost redid this time, because
<v Speaker 1>we talked about instead of doing Goonies versus Temple of Doom,
<v Speaker 1>we talked about doing Goonies versus Romancing the Stone. We
<v Speaker 1>did We almost did that, which would have been Zamechis
<v Speaker 1>and Spielberg, right, just like Raiders and Goonies. But then
<v Speaker 1>I saw, oh, hey, you know key Hu kwan Is,
<v Speaker 1>he's everywhere now right, He's got he's got one movie
<v Speaker 1>that just got released called Love Hurts. He's got another
<v Speaker 1>big one coming out called The Electric state, which I mean.
<v Speaker 1>It's directed by the Russo brothers who did all of
<v Speaker 1>those awesome Marvel movies. It's written by Chris Marcus, who
<v Speaker 1>did the Marvel movies, you know, Infinity War, Endgame, First Avenger.
<v Speaker 1>He also did Chronicles of Narnia. And it's got Chris Pratt, Millie,
<v Speaker 1>Bobby Brown, Key Hu Kwan obviously, and Woody Harrelson. And so, okay,
<v Speaker 1>I'm excited about that one. It is. It is on
<v Speaker 1>my list of movies to watch. I feel like I'm
<v Speaker 1>letting the team down.
<v Speaker 2>Like Jeff Johnson basically put a gun to my head
<v Speaker 2>and said, you've got to watch everything everywhere, all at once.
<v Speaker 1>You haven't seen it, No, I haven't seen it. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>So I've got a story for you. And you know,
<v Speaker 1>normally we start these things off like I was saying.
<v Speaker 1>When we did Raiders of the Lost Arc back in
<v Speaker 1>season one, we had a fantastic history. When we did
<v Speaker 1>Last Crusade last season, we had another fantastic history where
<v Speaker 1>we covered some of the stuff about Temple of Doom.
<v Speaker 1>We talked about the fact that it was you know,
<v Speaker 1>we were comparing two sequels because Temple of Doom is
<v Speaker 1>not a sequel. It is a prequel exactly, takes place
<v Speaker 1>nineteen thirty five, one year before Raiders. Yeah, one year
<v Speaker 1>before Raiders. And so anyway, we we have all of
<v Speaker 1>that history. So I don't really want to go into that.
<v Speaker 1>But since we have Goonies which has kwan as data right,
<v Speaker 1>and we've got Temple of Doom which has kwan as
<v Speaker 1>short round, and he's in all of these movies, I'm like, okay, well,
<v Speaker 1>this is kind of our quand double feature. So I thought,
<v Speaker 1>you know, what's he been doing for the last thirty
<v Speaker 1>years or twenty years or whatever it's been since he
<v Speaker 1>was making movies. The last thing I remember seeing him in,
<v Speaker 1>like back when we were kids, was like in Sino Man.
<v Speaker 2>He had a bit part in a Sina Man with
<v Speaker 2>Sean Aston as a matter of.
<v Speaker 1>Fact, Oh yeah, Sean Aston will yeah, and then Brendan
<v Speaker 1>Fraser of course. Brendan Fraser. Yeah.
<v Speaker 2>We took a vote and the computer Club.
<v Speaker 1>He was the president with the valuable asset to our
<v Speaker 1>organized saying Shuter Club Computer Club, Oh boy. And they
<v Speaker 1>both won the Oscar that year, got the whale and
<v Speaker 1>you got everything everywhere all at once. Yeah, they get
<v Speaker 1>to meet up again. I mean it was a very
<v Speaker 1>small part, but he's just been kind of gone. So
<v Speaker 1>I was like, I want to know what happened with
<v Speaker 1>this dude. Right, So the history I'm going to give
<v Speaker 1>you is the Quan history. I'm not going to give
<v Speaker 1>you the necessarily the Goonese history or the Temple of
<v Speaker 1>Doom history, because well it overlaps all sorts of stuff
<v Speaker 1>we've already done. We've talked about it so many times.
<v Speaker 1>But here's his story. Right, he's the first actor born
<v Speaker 1>in Vietnam to win an Oscar. But he's not Vietnamese.
<v Speaker 1>He's Chinese. So he was born in seventy one I think. Okay,
<v Speaker 1>and so he's close to our age, but he's older
<v Speaker 1>than us. That doesn't seem right, Yeah, but okay, keep going.
<v Speaker 1>So he was born in Vietnam but Chinese descent. Well,
<v Speaker 1>I don't know if you remember this thing called the
<v Speaker 1>Vietnam War. It was a big battle over communism, and
<v Speaker 1>he was born in South Vietnam, and of course China
<v Speaker 1>is communist, and so there was this big movement just
<v Speaker 1>to mean, he's just a few years old when the
<v Speaker 1>Vietnam War ends, and so then there's like this big
<v Speaker 1>push in South Vietnam to kick out all of the Chinese,
<v Speaker 1>like they're in danger because of their worry about communism.
<v Speaker 1>So he and his family, he's got like several brothers
<v Speaker 1>and sisters, they have to like escape on a boat.
<v Speaker 1>He and his brothers and father go to Hong Kong.
<v Speaker 1>His mother and sisters go to Malaysia and they're like
<v Speaker 1>in camps, like they're just they're barely making it, and
<v Speaker 1>they just luck out. There was a US refugee program
<v Speaker 1>for those displaced Chinese people, and he and his whole
<v Speaker 1>family they've managed to get back together again. Got to
<v Speaker 1>move to La which is where he grew up. And
<v Speaker 1>he got to La in nineteen seventy nine. Okay, so
<v Speaker 1>he missed Star Wars. Unfortunately you're here in time, right,
<v Speaker 1>And he hadn't really seen Raiders, Like he was still
<v Speaker 1>pretty young kid when Raiders came out. And so when
<v Speaker 1>there's this call for a new movie that they're looking
<v Speaker 1>for Asian kids for his little brother goes to audition
<v Speaker 1>and as you know, as the casting director is sitting there,
<v Speaker 1>he sees Kwan like pepping up his little brother and
<v Speaker 1>giving him acting techniques and ideas and stuff like that.
<v Speaker 1>And they're like, hey, come over here, would you like
<v Speaker 1>to try to read for this? And he's like, oh, okay.
<v Speaker 1>And so it's just coincidence that they saw him prepping
<v Speaker 1>his little brother that they called him in and they're like,
<v Speaker 1>we really think this is the kid. And so when
<v Speaker 1>they get a call a little while later, his mother
<v Speaker 1>and he have no idea what this is about. They're
<v Speaker 1>just like, hey, this, you know, I'm Steven Spielberg, or
<v Speaker 1>like you to meet me and George Lucas, and they're like,
<v Speaker 1>we feel like this is important. So she bought him
<v Speaker 1>a three piece suit, and so he shows up and
<v Speaker 1>meets George and Steven, and Steven just starts laughing at
<v Speaker 1>his three piece suit and gives him a big hug
<v Speaker 1>and they talk for a minute and he says, you
<v Speaker 1>know what, come back tomorrow and dress and you're more
<v Speaker 1>relaxed kind of clothes. And so when he comes back,
<v Speaker 1>it's Harrison Ford, George Lucas, and Steven Spielberg. They immediately
<v Speaker 1>fall in love with him, and he gets the part
<v Speaker 1>of short Round four Temple of Doom. That's fantastic. That's fantastic.
<v Speaker 2>In fact, I heard that they sat Harrison Ford down
<v Speaker 2>with the kid, and they said, improva game where he's
<v Speaker 2>cheating like Indiana Jones. Here's the Ford's cheating and you
<v Speaker 2>catch him cheating and you're mad at him.
<v Speaker 1>Ready go? And of course that shows back up in
<v Speaker 1>the movie. Here I very small, you very big, you
<v Speaker 1>cheat very big?
<v Speaker 2>Right, He's like they got stuck together. No no, no,
<v Speaker 2>yeah you no fun, no fun to play with you.
<v Speaker 2>And so that was all born out of an improv
<v Speaker 2>session when they were casting him.
<v Speaker 1>It's fantastic. It's one of my that's one of the
<v Speaker 1>best little comedy scenes in there because it's this great
<v Speaker 1>dark movie intermixed with these little comedic little motives. It's great. Yeah.
<v Speaker 1>So two important things happened from Temple of Doom. Number One,
<v Speaker 1>Steven Spielberg says to him, Hey, good job on this movie.
<v Speaker 1>I've got another movie where you pay play this kind
<v Speaker 1>of James Bond character who has all these gadgets. It's
<v Speaker 1>called The Goonies.
<v Speaker 2>How about how about I make you in two great
<v Speaker 2>movies right.
<v Speaker 1>Back to back, right. And then the other thing is,
<v Speaker 1>you know in the movie he uses taekwondo to fight people, right.
<v Speaker 1>So it was at Temple of Doom that he started
<v Speaker 1>learning taekwondo. Okay, he didn't quit, so he had initially
<v Speaker 1>started training with Philip Tan. He ultimately ended up training
<v Speaker 1>with Tao lying Tan, who also taught Bruce Lee's daughter,
<v Speaker 1>So not too shabby, right, Yeah. He ends up being
<v Speaker 1>like a second degree black belt in taekwondo. As he's
<v Speaker 1>as he grows, you know, as he's kind of doing
<v Speaker 1>these bit parts and movies and going to school, he
<v Speaker 1>is still studying martial arts the whole time. Well parts
<v Speaker 1>for him kind of dried up, and so by the
<v Speaker 1>time he's you know, in Sino Man, you see him,
<v Speaker 1>he's a high school kid. Right the time he's done
<v Speaker 1>with high school, he's not gotten any more offers, and
<v Speaker 1>so he decides, I'm going to go to usc film school.
<v Speaker 1>So he goes to film school over there, and he
<v Speaker 1>ends up getting a job with a director called Corey Yin,
<v Speaker 1>and he the director is also a guy who does
<v Speaker 1>action choreography, and so Kwan uses his martial arts skills
<v Speaker 1>and learns action choreography from this guy, and he becomes
<v Speaker 1>like the martial arts trainer for different people in all
<v Speaker 1>of these movies that he's become a part of. Behind
<v Speaker 1>the scenes. So he works with this director Corey Yin
<v Speaker 1>on X Men. Graphe for X Men. That's cool.
<v Speaker 2>He does the fight X Men like with Hugh Jackman
<v Speaker 2>and all these guys.
<v Speaker 1>Yes, not like the Chinese knockoff version of the X Men,
<v Speaker 1>like the real X Men with all of that fighting.
<v Speaker 1>Kei Kwan is the fighting coordinator for those things, as
<v Speaker 1>they also did the One Together. You know that jet Lee,
<v Speaker 1>Jason and Statham, Carla Guncino, Jetly Hall pass by the
<v Speaker 1>way for Carlo Guncino, I'm not familiar with her. Is
<v Speaker 1>she the Spike Kid mom on the Spike Kids son
<v Speaker 1>in law? Yes, yes, yeah, I know you're talking about
<v Speaker 1>she just a smoke show bro.
<v Speaker 2>She was in the City Jovie video always well that I.
<v Speaker 1>Don't know, but okay, yeah yeah, yeah yeah law yes
<v Speaker 1>with poly Shore. Yes, yes, of course that's yes, as
<v Speaker 1>long as we're talking about Brendan Fraser movies and yeah, okay.
<v Speaker 1>So they end up going they go to Hong Kong.
<v Speaker 1>He gets another mentor named Wang Kar Why who did
<v Speaker 1>the Chunking Express in nineteen ninety four, which is an
<v Speaker 1>eight on IMDb. In the Mood for Love from two thousand,
<v Speaker 1>which is eight point one IMDb and twenty forty six,
<v Speaker 1>where Ki Kwan serves for his first time as the
<v Speaker 1>first assistant director. I would get to seven point four.
<v Speaker 1>I'm like hitting my my watch list for IMDb. I'm like,
<v Speaker 1>I want to see these movies. I mean, even if
<v Speaker 1>I have to listen to, you know, dubbed or subtitled movies.
<v Speaker 1>I'm excited about this. But then he's like he's feeling
<v Speaker 1>kind of like he's missed out on things, you know,
<v Speaker 1>like he's missing something because work kind of dries up.
<v Speaker 1>And so he's like, well, I'll make some short films
<v Speaker 1>didn't work out, I'll try some writing didn't work out.
<v Speaker 1>And then he sees crazy rich Asians and he's like,
<v Speaker 1>I want to start acting again, okay, And so he
<v Speaker 1>calls up a buddy of his who is an agent,
<v Speaker 1>and he says, I'd like to get back into acting.
<v Speaker 1>Would you like to present me? And the guy's like, sure,
<v Speaker 1>I will do it. Two weeks later, one of the Daniels.
<v Speaker 1>The Daniels are the guys who directed everything everywhere, all
<v Speaker 1>at once, Okay. They're trying to find and actor who
<v Speaker 1>can play both a goofy, kind of inept husband who's lovable, okay,
<v Speaker 1>a James Bond kind of love interest character for a
<v Speaker 1>different alternate universe, and a master martial artist for yet
<v Speaker 1>another alternate universe. And they can't find anybody. And then
<v Speaker 1>he sees this gift of short round just on the computer,
<v Speaker 1>and he's like, wonder, whatever happened to that guy? Well,
<v Speaker 1>that guy got an agent two weeks earlier. Wow. And
<v Speaker 1>so he calls up the agent and they said, hey,
<v Speaker 1>we're we would love for you to read this script
<v Speaker 1>if you can. And so he reads the He reads
<v Speaker 1>the script and he's like, I laughed and I cried,
<v Speaker 1>and I realize everybody says that, but this script was
<v Speaker 1>an amazing and original script, which I can't believe you
<v Speaker 1>have not seen that movie yet. I know I'm letting
<v Speaker 1>the team down, I'm telling you. So they see him
<v Speaker 1>and they're like, yes, you get the part. But that's
<v Speaker 1>a big movie, like it's produced by the Russo brothers,
<v Speaker 1>speaking of them, right right. And so in the meantime,
<v Speaker 1>he's having some lunch with a friend. His friend starts
<v Speaker 1>talking to a director he knows just like has directed
<v Speaker 1>some TV episodes for various important TV shows. Right her name,
<v Speaker 1>her name is Jude Wang all right, and she's like,
<v Speaker 1>I'm about to do this Netflix movie. It's a combination
<v Speaker 1>of Indiana Jones and Goonies. And he's standing right there
<v Speaker 1>and he's like, I was in both of those movies.
<v Speaker 1>And so four months later she calls them up and
<v Speaker 1>she's like, hey, do you want to have a part
<v Speaker 1>in this movie? And so sure enough, I think it's
<v Speaker 1>called Searching for Ohana. He has a little warm up
<v Speaker 1>acting bit before he goes into everything everywhere, all at once.
<v Speaker 1>Just a small part in this in this Netflix movie. Wow.
<v Speaker 1>And it all comes from the connection that we have
<v Speaker 1>here to these two movies we're talking about today. That's fantastic, man.
<v Speaker 1>A good story, nice, good origin story.
<v Speaker 2>There by the way, it is rich coming from you
<v Speaker 2>pointing your.
<v Speaker 1>Finger at me. I know I haven't seen Commando, which
<v Speaker 1>we're going to cover. I have not seen Rambo, which
<v Speaker 1>we're covering later this season against each other. Yes, yeah,
<v Speaker 1>I also haven't seen sant Almo's Fire, which we might
<v Speaker 1>be covering this season as well. So here, you're right,
<v Speaker 1>you've got some work. I've got some homework to do
<v Speaker 1>as well. And also you revealed that you had never
<v Speaker 1>seen Red Don. I have never seen Red Don. I
<v Speaker 1>have never seen about Last Night. There's a lot of kids,
<v Speaker 1>you know, the R rated movies. I didn't get to
<v Speaker 1>see them. Yes, most of the time, that's fair.
<v Speaker 2>Speaking of Red Don, Just while we're here for just
<v Speaker 2>a second trivia question, what is the first PG thirteen
<v Speaker 2>movie ever released?

<v Speaker 2>However, Yeah, the reason why we have PG thirteen movies
<v Speaker 2>basically you can lay at the feet of Indiana Jones
<v Speaker 2>and the Temple of Doom. Yes, and Gremlins right which
<v Speaker 2>who wrote Goonies Chris Columbus And who wrote Grimlins?
<v Speaker 1>Chris Columbus. Huh yeah, I mean there you go, right

<v Speaker 2>And it was Spielberg's brain chot like He's like, listen,
<v Speaker 2>this should not be rated PG.
<v Speaker 1>We don't want it rted R.
<v Speaker 2>There should be something in between PG and R. And
<v Speaker 2>parents were I mean parents were upset. Yeah, people eating
<v Speaker 2>chilled monkey brains.
<v Speaker 1>And I'm not sure how polter Geist wasn't in the
<v Speaker 1>conversation for this thing, but.
<v Speaker 2>Polter Geist really was maybe the beginning.
<v Speaker 1>Of the whole thing. I mean, Jeezy, you look at Jaws.
<v Speaker 1>I mean Jaws for goodness sake is a PG movie
<v Speaker 1>that's nuts, I know, right.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, the scene in Polter Guys with the guy peels
<v Speaker 2>his face off, I mean that was a double hand
<v Speaker 2>peek through.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah. I was not able to eat fried chicken for
<v Speaker 1>a while after watching that movie. We got to do
<v Speaker 1>that one soon, We got to cover Polter Guys. Poltergeist
<v Speaker 1>has to be a Halloween episode in the season or
<v Speaker 1>the next time. All right, which of these movies going
<v Speaker 1>to dive deep on? First? You want to hit Temple
<v Speaker 1>of Doom while we're right here. I mean, Temple of
<v Speaker 1>Doom came out in eighty four. Goonies came out in
<v Speaker 1>eighty five. It seems like we should go ahead and do.
<v Speaker 2>That, Okay, So I think it's interesting the genesis of
<v Speaker 2>Indiana Jones at the Temple of Doom.
<v Speaker 1>We know, Raiders of Lost Dark became.
<v Speaker 2>This global phenomenon that was hugely successful. I remember looking
<v Speaker 2>at newspaper ads in nineteen eighty one basically saying held
<v Speaker 2>over for another six weeks and it just would.
<v Speaker 1>Not leave the theater go away.
<v Speaker 2>And it made gobs of money and was nominated for
<v Speaker 2>Best Picture, and it was just this incredible thing and
<v Speaker 2>I love it. It's still my all time favorite movie. Okay,
<v Speaker 2>But shortly after Raiders Are Lost Dark, Steven Spielberg makes
<v Speaker 2>another movie that goes even higher. Yeah, and we've covered
<v Speaker 2>that movie. We covered that movie when we did our
<v Speaker 2>Summer of nineteen eighty two.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that movie is called Et Et Et Versus The
<v Speaker 1>Thing Versus Blade Runner. Fantastic. I loved that. I was
<v Speaker 1>one of my favorite episodes that we did. So you
<v Speaker 1>guys definitely go check out. I mean that's season two
<v Speaker 1>that we did that. Yep. Yeah, so season two or
<v Speaker 1>season three, go check out Et Versus The Thing Versus
<v Speaker 1>Blade Runner, three phenomenal movies that were released within two
<v Speaker 1>weeks of each other, all June of eighty two.
<v Speaker 2>Basically, The Thing and Blade Runner were buried in the
<v Speaker 2>wake of ET.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, and so was everything else to be fair, Yeah,
<v Speaker 1>And so Spielberg was not on just on fire. He
<v Speaker 1>was on Mega fire at this point, and they're a
<v Speaker 1>little bit worried that they're not going to get him
<v Speaker 1>for Temple of Doom.
<v Speaker 2>Even though George Lucas and Steven Spielberger are like best buddies. Yeah,
<v Speaker 2>and Lucas is I mean, he makes the Star Wars
<v Speaker 2>movies for crying out life. It's not like he's a nobody, right,
<v Speaker 2>But they're a little bit nervous that if we don't
<v Speaker 2>get on this thing, Steven's gonna be doing other things
<v Speaker 2>and wish he's gone.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's like this is that was like eighty two,
<v Speaker 1>So literally in eighty two there they started writing the
<v Speaker 1>script on this thing that's right now. When they did Raiders,
<v Speaker 1>Steven Spielberg says, George Lucas told me that or made
<v Speaker 1>me promise that I would direct all three because he
<v Speaker 1>had three story ideas. That was a lie, right, we
<v Speaker 1>had to write the other two stars that was that
<v Speaker 1>was not true. And you know, if you want, if
<v Speaker 1>you want some little deep dive into the Monkey King,
<v Speaker 1>which was a potential suspect to go check out our
<v Speaker 1>Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade episode. But they they
<v Speaker 1>also talked about Haunted Castle they did, which is ghost.
<v Speaker 1>Spielberg was like, I just did Poltergeist. We can't do
<v Speaker 1>Haunted Castle. That doesn't make any sense, right, but yeah,
<v Speaker 1>they they then they went to Lawrence Kasden and they're like, hey,
<v Speaker 1>can you write us another script? Right? Yeah? And Kasden
<v Speaker 1>didn't beat around a bush on this one. He was like,
<v Speaker 1>I did not want to do this movie. I thought
<v Speaker 1>it was an ugly subject. I thought it was just mean,
<v Speaker 1>and I didn't want to be a part of it.
<v Speaker 2>Okay, So before we get to that point, though, I
<v Speaker 2>want to throw this one out there.
<v Speaker 1>This is the idea that I thought was the worst. Okay.
<v Speaker 2>And Lucas can come up with some terrible ideas. And
<v Speaker 2>I love the guy and I respect him to death,
<v Speaker 2>and he shaped my.
<v Speaker 1>Childhood for Pete's sake.
<v Speaker 2>Yeah, but you know, he comes up with like these
<v Speaker 2>action sequence ideas in his head, and one of them
<v Speaker 2>was a motorcycle chase on the Great Wall of China.
<v Speaker 1>Yeah right. He also talked about leftover scenes from Raiders
<v Speaker 1>of Lost Ark. Well, do you know the rest of
<v Speaker 1>the scene on the motorcycle chase on the Great Wall?
<v Speaker 1>He comes across some artifact which opens up the Lost
<v Speaker 1>World and there are dinosaurs. That's that was the bad

<v Speaker 1>get his scholarship led to the creation of one of
<v Speaker 1>the most iconic movies of the eighties, which then leads
<v Speaker 1>to Steven Spielberg going, Hey, loved what you did with Grimlins.
<v Speaker 1>You obviously can write kids very well. Why don't you
<v Speaker 1>come over here work on this story idea that I have.

<v Speaker 1>and they're down in southern Los Angeles, right right. They
<v Speaker 1>literally start driving up the coast just looking, let's let's
<v Speaker 1>find this place. I mean, we know that there's a
<v Speaker 1>pirate ship, so we have to be somewhere near the ocean.
<v Speaker 1>And so they're just literally driving up the California coast
<v Speaker 1>until California is now Oregon. Yeah. Yeah, And so they
<v Speaker 1>run into the next state and they get to a
<v Speaker 1>story organ and it is pouring rain, like it's a
<v Speaker 1>torrential downpour, and they're just like, guys, we just got
<v Speaker 1>to stop. I can't drive through this, and so they
<v Speaker 1>just get a hotel for the night, not even thinking
<v Speaker 1>this is a place, right right. They wake up in
<v Speaker 1>the morning, it is no longer raining. They're all getting
<v Speaker 1>in the van to start heading further north to trying
<v Speaker 1>to find the location. And then the sun comes up
<v Speaker 1>over the horizon and they see this beautiful little town
<v Speaker 1>that has all these wonderful homes intermixed with all of
<v Speaker 1>these beautiful trees, and it's like magic, like it's just like, guys,
<v Speaker 1>this is it, this is it, this is it. And
<v Speaker 1>so they literally the story takes place in a story
<v Speaker 1>organ that is where they filmed virtually all of this.
<v Speaker 1>It's fantastic. I will say this. I loved the look
<v Speaker 1>of the town. It looks quaint, it looks piratey, you know, oceane,
<v Speaker 1>you know. But there's a real for people who like to.
<v Speaker 2>Visit these places where places where movies are filmed and
<v Speaker 2>stuff like that. For some reason, this really draws a
<v Speaker 2>lot of people. In fact, the gooney House like was
<v Speaker 2>bought by somebody a few years ago and they have
<v Speaker 2>to put up a no trespassing because people were walk
<v Speaker 2>like walking on the porch and taking pictures and looking
<v Speaker 2>in the windows and all kinds of stuff.
<v Speaker 1>If you want to go to Google Earth huh, or
<v Speaker 1>street view on Google Maps, it's three sixty eight thirty
<v Speaker 1>eighth Street in Astoria. If you want to see Haystack Rock,
<v Speaker 1>which is that iconic rock. Yeah, just google Haystack Rock

<v Speaker 1>another perfect place to film. It looks like a little

<v Speaker 1>wonderful and great people and fantastic actors. But once you

<v Speaker 1>that a boy has a brain, two boys have half
<v Speaker 1>a brain, and three boys have no brain at all.
<v Speaker 1>And so yeah, you get all these kids together plus
<v Speaker 1>the heroin addicted Josh Brolin, and it's it's not a
<v Speaker 1>good mixture. But he said the other the other side
<v Speaker 1>of it was they were so youthful and childlike that
<v Speaker 1>it made him feel youthful and childlike as well, which

<v Speaker 1>into the back meaning of this movie, because this is
<v Speaker 1>really just a fun movie. But this is a movie
<v Speaker 1>about holding onto your childhood, right, Like, sure, what we

<v Speaker 1>to find a treasure. This is our last adventure before
<v Speaker 1>our childhood is taken from us. Those are big steaks, right,

<v Speaker 2>they they would ease each other and do pranks to
<v Speaker 2>each other that kind of pissed each other off.

<v Speaker 1>kind of brotherly hate in the movie. Huh. But I

<v Speaker 1>Little the Little Love Nest with her with her real husband,

<v Speaker 1>of all stunt doubles, Vic Armstrong, who we've talked about
<v Speaker 1>multiple times. He does a bunch of stand in work
<v Speaker 1>for and stunt work for Harrison Ford. But what I
<v Speaker 1>thought was crazy is the lady who's the stunt double
<v Speaker 1>for Willie is Wendy Leach, vic Armstrong's wife. Really, that's great.
