We have been to Don Franklin. I think I've been to every Don Franklin in Somerset, and there's only sixty three of them. But we are at Don Franklin Chevy right here in Pulaski County. Love to have you come out. Got a good group of folks here this morning, nine twenty two eighty seven. Well is a Clark's Pumping Shop phone line. But don't call in yet because we got a whole thing going on today. A Vision Auto Glass text machine is seven to seven two seven four five two five four. This edition sponsored by the t J Smith Loves called Tj'll make them pay. First of all, to the people that are in Summerset, I have a surprise for you. 00:01:19 Speaker 3: I have tickets. 00:01:20 Speaker 2: To Tonight's Blue White Game to give away at this remote. 00:01:24 Speaker 4: Get out of town. 00:01:25 Speaker 3: I didn't think I was gonna have them, but I do. 00:01:27 Speaker 2: As a matter of fact, I have two sets of two to give away here, so I'm gonna do that at the end of the show. So if you are in the Summerset area, we got a pretty good crowd here, but there's the chance to win. This will probably be your best chance. I mean, these are not cheap tickets. Come on out. This is not the experience. You don't get to dap everybody on this one. This is just go to the game. 00:01:48 Speaker 3: We'll do the drawing at the end of the show, So come on out. 00:01:50 Speaker 2: Don Franklin Chevy, you got an hour and forty minutes to get here. But I didn't know I was gonna have that And I do uh for the Blue White game tonight. 00:01:59 Speaker 4: Good little getting just come by and watch the show. You got a chance to go to watch the Blue Wag game. I'm going to night. I'm excited. I'm excited just to watch the team play tonight. 00:02:05 Speaker 2: Yes, and then at the end of the show, I'm giving away the big package all of our finalists. 00:02:11 Speaker 3: Well, I mean the big package for the tickets. 00:02:13 Speaker 5: Let's be clear, yes. 00:02:17 Speaker 3: That I didn't say there's no there's no party for that tonight. 00:02:20 Speaker 2: You and the people get to sit on the bench and all that. We have finalists. I'm getting one more finals. We have seven. 00:02:28 Speaker 3: We're gonna have an eighth. 00:02:29 Speaker 2: The TikTok people are finally we got everything set up, but that'll be at the end of the show. So there's a lot going on, Shannon, and I'm excited because somebody at the end of the show is gonna win a chance to have the UK fan experience of a life. 00:02:42 Speaker 6: And what an experience it is. I mean, we've never had a contest quite like this. I think this is better than the Alaskan cruise giveaway that we did twenty years ago. 00:02:50 Speaker 5: I'm saying like that. 00:02:51 Speaker 2: I mean, Okay, so you look at the ones we the things we've given away. We gave away a trip to the Bahamas that was pretty good to watch basketball play. We gave away a trip to a last once with us that was like those were big money trips. I gave away a trip to the Champions Classic. Yeah, tickets ones and those are awesome. But this is also very unique. None of those allowed you to sit on the bench. 00:03:13 Speaker 6: Ye do all that stuff. You don't have to go to the Bahamas to dab somebody up. 00:03:16 Speaker 2: Whoever wins this has a VIP person to take them through the activities of the night. 00:03:22 Speaker 3: Isn't that crazy? So it's exciting. 00:03:25 Speaker 2: But you can win the just tickets here while we are here today and then I'm we got a lot going on. 00:03:31 Speaker 3: But before we start any of this, Shannon, I want to start with you. 00:03:36 Speaker 2: We got to talk about this guy standing next to all right, Drew No no, no, you as part of sort of the brotherhood of Kentucky Sports Radio. It's like it's like a much lamer version of the Armed Forces. We leave no man behind, Is that right? 00:03:55 Speaker 3: That's exactly right? 00:03:56 Speaker 2: Like we are all in this together. It's a lot dorkier than the arm forces. But there's a there's a brotherhood, and there's really there's uh, there's six of us, but there's four of us that are on the front lines, right, Billy and Mario are there for but there's four of us on the front lines. And Billy's gone, he's got a bachelor party or something like that. So we were Friday, and you know, the hardest thing in radio to do, in my opinion, is to host a show by yourself. Would you agree with that? 00:04:23 Speaker 6: Yeah, it's sinker swim talk show by yourself. 00:04:26 Speaker 2: I think there's only one person in modern radio that does it well, and that's Colin Cowhard Nationally. I'm always impressed it the way like Nick Coffee can do it in Louisville. 00:04:37 Speaker 4: Like I think it's hard, it is very hard. 00:04:41 Speaker 2: So we all make sure that we never leave anybody in that position, right, always make sure that we don't leave anybody out to dry. 00:04:50 Speaker 3: So Billy's gone, Shannon needs a co host. 00:04:53 Speaker 2: Hard enough to do it by yourself, but as you know, Shannon even harder on remote. 00:05:00 Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, when you're in a studio. 00:05:02 Speaker 2: It's in the studio. It's not that So every show a little secret Fridays when we're on remote. That's the hardest show we do of the week, because you've got to entertain the radio and you have to entertain all these beautiful people here. You have to look at Bob and Jamestown like there's a lot of stuff that's going on. I'm just kidding me a Bob whin these tickets to night. Although we're not putting you on the bench, but but you just have a lot to do so this morning. Yes, you asked Ryan to host with you. 00:05:33 Speaker 6: Yeah, I did. I reminded him last night. Hey, Ryan, and he got a pre show tomorrow. He said, I'll be there at eight thirty. 00:05:39 Speaker 2: What time does the show start? 00:05:41 Speaker 5: Nine o'clock? 00:05:41 Speaker 2: He told you he'd be there at at eight thirty, eight thirty. What time did he show up to the pre show? 00:05:46 Speaker 6: I believe it was about nine forty nine forty Yeah, I got to call it eight fifteen and said, I just woke up, just woke up. 00:05:53 Speaker 2: Yeah, Ryan, you left Shannon on an Island in summer, sat at Don Franklin by himself in front of a crowd for forty minutes. 00:06:08 Speaker 3: Explain yourself. 00:06:09 Speaker 4: He's so talented and so good. 00:06:11 Speaker 2: Don't put this on him. I explain yourself. 00:06:16 Speaker 4: I have no excuse. Josiah got up at five point fifteen, and when he got when I got up to make sure he was up, somehow I turned off my alarm. 00:06:24 Speaker 3: Somehow you turned off your alarm. 00:06:26 Speaker 4: I don't know. My alarm went off at five fifteen to go make sure he was up, but somehow when I turned it off, I turned off the six thirty alarm. 00:06:33 Speaker 5: They were both turned went back asleep. 00:06:35 Speaker 6: When you're up at five fifteen, that felt like a good time to just stay awaything, Come on over. 00:06:39 Speaker 4: No going back to sleep, catch another hour sleep. 00:06:41 Speaker 2: So you you need to first of all, apologize. 00:06:47 Speaker 4: I apologize. 00:06:49 Speaker 3: Uh. 00:06:49 Speaker 4: Whenever Shannon calls, I always want to be there for him. But but yeah, I let him down. I let him down. 00:06:54 Speaker 2: Today, arguably on the hardest day. 00:06:56 Speaker 4: Yeah, the hardest day. 00:06:57 Speaker 2: So Shannon, I'm giving you so okay, I'm giving you a present because I don't want people being mad at me, and you don't care if people are mad at you. You You are allowed, you are giving being given the permission to assign a punishment to him. I will say, I will back up any reasonable punishment that you come up with. But you get to give him a punishment. I'm gonna give you the course of the show to think about it. But he deserves a punishment. It was nice of him to agree to the show. But at the same time, had he said no, you'd have found somebody else to call Drew. 00:07:37 Speaker 3: You to called Mario, I. 00:07:38 Speaker 5: Would anybody called Bob and Jamestown. 00:07:42 Speaker 2: I wouldn't have allowed that. You could have called me. I would have said no, but you could have at least trot. So you got to think of the punishment. And Ryan, you have. 00:07:53 Speaker 5: To do so much. 00:07:56 Speaker 3: Heart here. 00:07:58 Speaker 2: But Shannon, you're the person who said, hey, guy, whose kid will cry if he doesn't get to go to WrestleMania, tell your kid to cry like that was in Somerset. 00:08:09 Speaker 5: By the way, that was you're giving me the switch to hit Ryan, he. 00:08:14 Speaker 3: Said, cry kid. That's basically what you said. 00:08:17 Speaker 6: You're giving me the switch to hit Ryan, and I don't want to hit him. 00:08:19 Speaker 2: This is exactly right. You're like my grandmother when I was a kid, who would make me go get the switch for her to smack me with. 00:08:26 Speaker 3: Yeah, he already hit you. 00:08:28 Speaker 2: This thing hurt you, It didn't really hurt. That's why this don't act like it wasn't bad. My granny was great. She she she'd I would act like it hurt, but it didn't. But you you get to do that, and you get to pick the switch with which you get to smacking Ryan. 00:08:43 Speaker 5: I don't want to do that to you, buddy, but you did leave me, all. 00:08:47 Speaker 2: Right, so not yet. Just think about it, Ryan, you have to do it. The punishment can be an acted today or it could be later. 00:08:54 Speaker 3: It's up to you. 00:08:55 Speaker 4: So I'll leave you and add the Shannon's worried. The signal dropped out, my self service dropped out, and. 00:09:01 Speaker 7: Mario were listening and it was a hard listen. We were driving as fast as we could to try to save him. 00:09:07 Speaker 5: No, it's not absolutely not to add. 00:09:09 Speaker 3: To the morning. 00:09:10 Speaker 7: I left my house at eight am today. Guess who I saw in traffic in Lexington, Young Joe syle Lemon out going where he needs to be in the morning. 00:09:17 Speaker 3: Joe sile was upro out early, gave way. So all right, So Shannon, okay, I'll be ready tonight. 00:09:24 Speaker 2: So we got another big weekend Blue White game tonight UK Florida tomorrow night. By the way, I just got my note from my GM at the bar. We will be serving fried gator all day tomorrow, which is a good tradition. She does a good job with that at ksbar So Blue White tonight. Here's what I've been told where we are. It is kind of a mystery because it's the first time they've done it like this. Their ticket sales were I would say, much better than then then they slash we thought, especially after the start. I think it's probably gonna be I don't know, oh, seventy seventy five percent full, which considering what they were charging, I think is a really positive amount. I have a sense of what they're gonna do. I think it's gonna be awesome. It's you can still get tickets at Club Blue nil dot com. The one hundred dollars tickets are still available now there is I don't know how this is gonna work. They are streaming it, but they're not streaming it, meaning from what I understand, Jaymi is doing a show from the event, but they're not gonna show the event. 00:10:33 Speaker 3: I don't know what that means. So we look over Dick Gabriel's shoulder. 00:10:37 Speaker 2: Yeah, I assume it's gonna be like Dick Gabriel and somebody else talking, but you don't get to see what's happening. 00:10:44 Speaker 3: I don't know how that's gonna go. 00:10:45 Speaker 2: So my suggestion is, if you want to see something, you probably still want to go. Okay, that's just gonna be my suggestion. With that said, I think it's gonna be very cool tonight, Ryan. First time we're gonna see these guys on the court together. I'm told they're doing the women start at six, the men start at seven, a real scrimmage where they're going up and down the court, keeping score all bets. 00:11:05 Speaker 4: Yeah, there's a lot of guys gonna fighting for playing time. They want to get on the court. Well, this is gonna be It's not like an NBA All Star game. These guys are out there, gonna be actually playing and trying to compete with each other. So we're gonna see you know, the Kobe Braan and Travis Perry and I'll take it away, these guys all trying to fight for playing time to get on the court. We're gonna see that. So I'm excited to see just what this team's made of. 00:11:24 Speaker 2: Mark Pope said that, you know, their first their first exhibition game is Wednesday night, when I'm not sure if people are like. We play basketball Wednesday night against Kentucky Wesley and Mark Pope said he has one or two final questions about the starting lineup that he will decide based on the play tonight. 00:11:44 Speaker 3: That's interesting. I'm most excited to see. 00:11:46 Speaker 7: We just we've we've speculated what the offense looks like, we've seen clips of BYU, we've heard experts talking about it. But tonight Pope announced on the show he's gonna be miked up and explain exactly how they're gonna play basketball. And that's what I'm most excited to see. And by the way, that's part of why it's not on TV. He is going to while he's there explain the. 00:12:04 Speaker 2: Offense, which I think, which I guess he doesn't want everyone on television to see. 00:12:08 Speaker 7: But I think I'm looking most for you know, pro day. We've seen these guys in drills. It's amazing, but it's hard to get a real opinion of them just taking wide open shots. He mentioned there might be blood on the court tonight. They're going hard and we're finally gonna see what the team was gonna be. 00:12:22 Speaker 3: They're going hard. 00:12:23 Speaker 7: So it's even though we've had madness and few other things. This is gonna be the first time where we actually see how Kentucky's gonna play. 00:12:29 Speaker 3: I think I agree with you. 00:12:31 Speaker 2: Now Saturday UK Florida, Right, Kentucky is now the favorite. Florida started as a two and a half point favorite, and it is flipped and now Kentucky is a one point favorite? 00:12:43 Speaker 3: Do you up to two? 00:12:45 Speaker 8: Now? 00:12:45 Speaker 3: Keeps moving? 00:12:46 Speaker 2: It's up so like the the lines moved four and a half points towards Kentucky. That does not for people who don't gamble. That doesn't happen a lot. Are you surprised that it seems like Kentucky is becoming kind of a consensus favorite. 00:12:58 Speaker 4: Yeah, especially since coming off what we just saw against Vanderbilt. Maybe they're taking in the case, like almost all of Florida's offense is hurt, Like their quarterbacks hurt, a lot of their offensive line. Yeah, they're missing a lot of guys. 00:13:08 Speaker 2: They lost their quarterback, they're running back, two of their offensive linemen, and their second best receiver all in the last two games. Wow, so we are seeing kind of their second best players now. The one thing is their quarterback is the guy. A lot of people thought should. 00:13:23 Speaker 3: Be starting anyway. 00:13:24 Speaker 2: He's like a young guy that they were playing. 00:13:27 Speaker 4: Yeah, he's got a couple of games in his belt already, but this is like they've handed the keys to him. 00:13:31 Speaker 2: Now. 00:13:31 Speaker 4: This is his team. Who is player of the Year coming out of Texas I think last year. So the guys obviously super talented. But like Drew and I have said this week, it won't surprise me at all if they come out on Saturday and play great on the road. After the sticker they threw it against Vanda, I. 00:13:44 Speaker 5: Think that's the problem. 00:13:45 Speaker 6: Like we're halfway through the season and I still don't really know what the identity of this team is. Is it the team that's gonna get blown out to South Carolina lose to Vandy or a team that's gonna beat Ole Miss and played Georgia tough Billy Napier. 00:13:55 Speaker 2: I don't know if his players like him or not, Drew, but if they do, they're playing for his job Saturday. 00:14:01 Speaker 3: If he loses Saturday, he's done. 00:14:03 Speaker 2: There's no way they might be done anyway, but he's certainly done. 00:14:07 Speaker 3: If he loses Saturday, this could be the last game they could even win. They go it's unbelievable. 00:14:12 Speaker 7: They played Georgia, Texas Ole miss LSU and then end with Florida State. 00:14:16 Speaker 3: Who's down. 00:14:17 Speaker 7: That's a rivalry games, so this is like their last This is when we should win. And he could go zero to three against Kentucky. And I mean if I were him, if he were to lose tomorrow, I walk straight home and start putting things in boxes. 00:14:29 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:14:29 Speaker 2: No, if he loses tomorrow, they're done. So maybe you get one to win. One for the Gipper attempt for Billy Napier, but uh for Kentucky, big game. I mean making a bowl to me requires a win tomorrow. So we did a huge game for both teams. All right, open up the phones. We're gonna get our last finalist eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. 00:14:52 Speaker 3: John's gonna open up the phones. 00:14:54 Speaker 2: First six people who get in, we'll do one last finalist and then we'll be able to play for the passes at the end. The chance to have a UK fan experience for a lifetime. This is your last chance to get in af I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven, and if you're here in Somerset, you can actually get tickets without ever having a call. If you're here at this Don Frankelb'll take a break, be right back. 00:15:15 Speaker 3: It's KSR. 00:15:19 Speaker 2: It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Here live at Don Franklin. You can get up to eleven thousand dollars off on Select Silverado's or Drew Secret Silverado's, or up to five thousand dollars on Select Tahoes and Yukon's. Fresh shipments arriving weekly and the best inventory in selection in years here at Don Franklin Chevy in Summerset. I have some great news. The great news is our phone lines don't seem to be working, which is an awesome day for that to happen, since we're trying to give away these things. Today was to be the perfect day for the phone lines not to work. But if you are trying to call and wonder why it's said that your phone lines are not in service, that is what it is. If it's not some one thing, it is something else. Always on this show Technology, we're up against the deathline with this prize is tonight. This is something we can do another time me to do this unless it's from ten to twelve today. Shannon is looking at it. Shannon, what are you finding out here. 00:16:15 Speaker 6: Sir, gus are our boss is gonna be looking into it, be looking at and what we'll figure it out as. 00:16:21 Speaker 3: We'll fist out. Well. 00:16:22 Speaker 2: As soon as we do that, we will try to deal with it. We'll go back to UK. Florida brought vandergriff halfway through the season, Drew. Do you think as we get into the second half here, do you think we will see a continued improvement of Brock Vandergriff Or is what we've seen in the last two or three games, which has been good but not great, Is that what we're gonna see the rest. 00:16:46 Speaker 3: Of the year. 00:16:47 Speaker 7: I think he will gradually continue to improve. I'm not ready to label that this is just what he is. I mean, that's a guy that when he came here probably a two year guy. So I'm still hoping he has a long way to go. But the offense as a whole has been very disappointing. I mean, they moved the ball against Vandy, they outgained them, had better total offense, but they just cannot punch it in the end zone. To have four touchdowns in four sec games and two of those you're a double digit favorite and you lost I mean, I think it's just a it's an everyone issue, hamd In across the board, the line. I think everyone could be better a lot. I mean last week, because we know a lot of that was mistakes. They're playing pretty well and just hurt themselves with pillows. 00:17:22 Speaker 6: That's it right there. You just can't make boneheaded plays like they did it. 00:17:25 Speaker 2: Boneheaded play after boneheaded play after boneheaded play, and and and in some ways the worst times you could make them. I mean the absolute worst times you could make them. You know, we talked about, you know, the the Dane throwing the ball, the false start, just a lot of stuff. Ryan that is extremely, extremely frustrated. 00:17:45 Speaker 4: They finally did score two touchdowns against Vandy, but they were inside the thirty three other times and did not get at it in the end zone. I mean, that just can't happen. 00:17:53 Speaker 3: Two of those times didn't even get a point. 00:17:55 Speaker 4: They didn't even get a point. When you're on the four inch line and you walk away with zero points, something's not right. 00:18:01 Speaker 7: When they did score, the messing up the extra point, it was just so sloppy. That's why I'm confident going into Florida. If they hadn't done that, against Vanderbilt and they win that game, they're a favorite at Florida. Well they are now anyway. But I think that line is moving to where it should have been before the Vandy game. 00:18:16 Speaker 2: Now Chip traying them, who I've assumed for quite some time was not going to play the rest of the year. He did give a statement yesterday that he said he is trying to play this year. He didn't say win. I mean, we're running out of time. To be honest with you, we only if he's not playing tomorrow. Now you're just talking five games left. Do you ryan expect to see the running back that we've kind of all waited for this year? 00:18:40 Speaker 3: Do you expect to see. 00:18:41 Speaker 4: Him kind of the scuttle but as he's gonna play tomorrow, may not play a lot, but I think he may get a couple of touches tomorrow. 00:18:47 Speaker 3: That's amazing. 00:18:48 Speaker 2: I mean, that's I guess he just wants to go to the draft either way, because I would have thought at this point he just want to save his season and maybe get a year. But you know, I don't think that position has been our issue honestly, Drew. But do you think if he does play a little bit, it would make it a difference. 00:19:05 Speaker 7: I think so, if nothing else, just having the depth, especially with what we heard on Monday about some guys needing some velcrow shoes, it'd be a great time to put a guy in in the backfield to maybe show some leadership. The talk before he got hurt was that, you know, he was much better than the other guys, and the other guys had played well, So maybe he comes in and pops off and has a great game. They listen as probable last night. I don't know anything, but I'm expecting to see him tomorrow and looking forward to it. 00:19:31 Speaker 2: Well, I mean, it's I this is one of those that I'd be interested the story behind the story, because I can tell you the assumption was he wasn't gonna play, and now all of a sudden he's playing. I'd be interested to see kind of what the chain of events were that led to that. 00:19:47 Speaker 3: But it certainly won't hurt to have him. 00:19:49 Speaker 2: Do you think it will be any sort of fundamental change to the way they call plays. I mean, I feel like I feel like Demy has played well, will Cox had some good runs. I don't really know that it'll make a huge amount of difference. Do you. 00:20:01 Speaker 4: I don't either. I don't think I'm a hugemount of difference because Nimisimo Karbay has really played really well and run the ball well. Will Coxman's shoes are on it. He play runs the ball really well. It just like Drew say, gives him some death in that running back room because it was just those two guys. That's why I think Gavin Wimson was getting a lot of touches because they just needed some extra legs out there. 00:20:18 Speaker 7: You thought if they thought he was that much better than those two, I'm excited to see him. Maybe he does take it up to another level. They haven't hit yet. 00:20:24 Speaker 2: Yeah, Now, Florida's defense has been so so, but their offense has been pretty putrid a lot of the year. Our defense, you know, we are one of I saw this stat. We are one of only twelve teams in the country defensively who have held every team on our schedule to blow their average yards. 00:20:44 Speaker 3: So that I mean, think about that for a minute. 00:20:46 Speaker 2: Every single team we've played, they've had a worse than average game against us offensively, which is a great sign, Shannon, for our defense. But I don't know how much longer the defense can sort of hold people like this. I mean, you got to think at some point they have one dud, but they really haven't in any game this year. 00:21:05 Speaker 5: I don't feel like it'll be tomorrow. 00:21:07 Speaker 4: You know. 00:21:08 Speaker 6: With Florida's backup quarterback, I feel like They're gonna get a lot of pressure on him and try to shake him early in the game and sort of take him out of the game. But you know, it comes down to Ken Kentucky's offense get to twenty twenty one points. 00:21:21 Speaker 5: That to me, that's the bigger concern. 00:21:22 Speaker 6: I feel good about Kentucky's defense holding Florida to maybe twenty or less. 00:21:27 Speaker 5: King Kentucky's offense. 00:21:29 Speaker 2: Kane, Kentucky score twenty one points tomorrow, I'm with you. I think even score twenty one, we win. I said the same thing in the Vandy game. Problem was we didn't score twenty one. Do you think we could score twenty one tomorrow? 00:21:41 Speaker 5: I think we can. I don't know we can. I think we can. 00:21:45 Speaker 7: Our predictions right on twenty one, and I have the defense helping with that. I don't have much faith in this offense, but I do think the defense will travel. And that's why Kentucky will win the game. They're gonna put Lagway in some tough spots. 00:21:57 Speaker 2: Twenty one to me for most the until we play Texas. I think you look at the rest of the games. For me, the magic number is twenty one. I think when we score twenty one, we will be If we score twenty one, we beat George. 00:22:12 Speaker 3: If we scored twenty one, we beat U we beat Vanderbilt. 00:22:16 Speaker 2: If we score twenty one and don't hand them ten points, we go to overtime against South Carolina. Twenty one to me is the number. I just wonder every game if the offense if they really can find a way to do it, because so far this year, Drew they have not. 00:22:30 Speaker 7: I mean, what a small thing to ask tore You have an elite defense and as we thought coming into the year, enough talents at receiver and across the offense to score points and just not doing it. 00:22:40 Speaker 2: I don't think it's too much to ask to put an offense out where you put that kind of investment in it and be able to. 00:22:45 Speaker 3: Get twenty one points. But so far it hasn't happened. 00:22:48 Speaker 2: We're gonna take a break, hopefully get our phone lines fixed, gonna talk a little bit about big retirement yesterday. 00:22:53 Speaker 3: It's KSR. 00:22:56 Speaker 2: Welcome back, tell you Sports Radio here live and Don Franklin in Somerset that you know we go to that. We go to Somerset a lot, but still we we visited town. We have a tradition, Ryan, tell me a couple of famous athletes from Somerset. 00:23:09 Speaker 4: Right, Reggie Hanson is always the first one that pops into my mind. 00:23:12 Speaker 3: Integrated UK basketball for Billy. 00:23:15 Speaker 4: Yeah, Josh Anderson is probably the best baseball player played out here. He ended up playing in the Big League. 00:23:19 Speaker 3: From e k u. 00:23:21 Speaker 4: Uh. That's about it. I can think of it. 00:23:24 Speaker 2: It's a huge city. Like what you mean, it's about it? How Rogers would spit more on that than athletes? 00:23:29 Speaker 3: Come on, uh huh. We just had Kaya Scharme play quarterback? 00:23:35 Speaker 4: Is that really? 00:23:36 Speaker 3: You guys? Are those the only two? Who? 00:23:41 Speaker 2: Mark copper Hill. 00:23:44 Speaker 4: Father father Gil? 00:23:47 Speaker 3: But I don't know him. What does he play for? Who? Form? Maryland? Okay? There you go play basketball for. Reggie Hanson is the big one. 00:23:57 Speaker 4: Reggie Hansen. 00:23:58 Speaker 2: All right, so eight, I'm nine to eight? Okay, excuse me, that's not the number. 00:24:02 Speaker 3: All right? 00:24:02 Speaker 2: Before I we we we have an alternate number to pick our final final fancy number. 00:24:08 Speaker 3: Better than the old one. Yes, they're, they're, they're. 00:24:10 Speaker 2: Now you call Sarah on the operator and she'll put you through and we'll be able to do it. Here's what you gotta do, Shannon, since you had to do the first hour by yourself, I'm gonna let you pick our final finalist. 00:24:23 Speaker 3: Here's what you have to do. Four people. 00:24:25 Speaker 2: We're only gonna be able to have four because the Sarah operator line doesn't work as much. 00:24:30 Speaker 3: You have to call in and you have to convince Shannon why you deserve to be a finalist. 00:24:36 Speaker 2: Remember what, What's what you're trying to think is what does Shannon like? You know, we know when Ryan picks people start talking about how their dog died and there and there, and their sister won't talk to them and all this stuff, and their child is crying, like we know what we're there's just a. 00:24:54 Speaker 3: Sympathy vote works with Ry. 00:24:55 Speaker 5: I have no sympathy. 00:24:56 Speaker 3: Shannon has no sympathy. I think that's the wrong move here. They call it no soul Shannon. 00:25:01 Speaker 2: All right, So the question is how do you get Shannon to pick you as the finalist? 00:25:08 Speaker 3: Now? 00:25:08 Speaker 2: I can only take four, so I'm giving you the alternate number. 00:25:12 Speaker 3: Here's the alternate number. 00:25:14 Speaker 2: Five oh two five seven, one seven nine zero zero seven nine zero zero five two, five seven, one seven nine zero zero. The first four that come in, Shannon will pick our final finalists. 00:25:27 Speaker 3: Are you ready? 00:25:28 Speaker 6: I don't want to hear any sob stories. I don't want you crying to me, don't beg none of that. 00:25:33 Speaker 3: Just what works for you. 00:25:34 Speaker 5: I just want to hear what you got to say. 00:25:36 Speaker 3: Why they should pick you. All right? 00:25:37 Speaker 2: Did you watch the baseball game last night, Ryan, where the guy's name was like something Noel. He hit a home run and he hit it looked like he hit it one thousand feet for Cleveland, And I found out that his nickname was Big Christmas and I loved it. Did you see Big Christmas hit that home run? 00:25:55 Speaker 4: I loved the baseball last night, man. That's what playoff baseball is about. Him hitting home runs. Tie it up, hitting the bottom of the inding home runs. I mean it was exciting. So yes, answer your question. I saw it and I loved it. 00:26:06 Speaker 2: Big Christmas Chris is a great nickname. First, I mean that is that's one of the most elite nicknames. 00:26:12 Speaker 3: I've ever heard Big Christmas. I like that. I saw it. 00:26:14 Speaker 7: I didn't see the game. I saw your tweet. Is there an explanation behind the name. 00:26:17 Speaker 3: Last name is Noel? Oh yeah, well there we go. That helps out there. 00:26:21 Speaker 2: Last name is Noel, and so he's this big, massive guyon Big Christmas. 00:26:26 Speaker 6: We saw like a couple of Santa Clauses out in the stand. They sang Falice navidad on the Spanish announce call of that. 00:26:33 Speaker 3: Okay, that's yeah. They sang police navid and he hit the home run. Oh you gotta find that. 00:26:40 Speaker 2: I want to hear it, John, and we have to play that when Shannon sends it to you. 00:26:44 Speaker 3: Okay, okay, all right, do you have your calls. 00:26:47 Speaker 2: I do have the calls. All right, here we go. Alright, this the goal. So if you didn't see the home run we got here. We'll play the police NOVI DoD call. This. The goal is who will give the best story to Shannon. Ready, let's go up first, Chad, Chad? 00:27:02 Speaker 8: Where are you from Bowling Green? 00:27:06 Speaker 3: Chad from Bowling Green? Now, can you get up here tonight in time? I? 00:27:11 Speaker 8: Yes, I can. 00:27:12 Speaker 3: Okay. 00:27:12 Speaker 2: It was about say if you can't, then this isn't gonna work. All right, Chad, tell Shannon why he should pick you? 00:27:21 Speaker 8: Will Shennon. First of all, this is my first time call who are? And I have been to UK one time in my life, and I just think that this is gonna be the best exciting season that we can expect with the new Hope era. 00:27:41 Speaker 2: All Right, there you go, now, no comment from you yet? Yeah, okay, he's been to UK one time in his life. Do you mean to a game or even to the. 00:27:49 Speaker 3: Campus to a game? One time? To a game? What year was that? 00:27:55 Speaker 8: Uh? It was the year that we played Vanderbilt and we blew him out like forty points. That's a lot of years, any specificity, I'm sorry. 00:28:09 Speaker 3: Any who's the coach when you win? 00:28:11 Speaker 8: It was Toby, I'm sorry? 00:28:13 Speaker 2: Tellby Okay? All right, oh you're talking about that. That's probably three when we beat him by like sixty. 00:28:18 Speaker 5: I think that keep bringing that up. 00:28:20 Speaker 6: That'll get you a lot of extra points. 00:28:25 Speaker 2: Chad, Chad, who would you take with you to the game or to the practice tonight? 00:28:32 Speaker 4: My wife? 00:28:34 Speaker 3: Your wife? Okay? 00:28:34 Speaker 2: So Chad and his wife if only been once and now they would like to go tonight from bowlinggry All right, Chad, hang on? 00:28:40 Speaker 3: Who's next? Derek? Derek? Where are you from? 00:28:46 Speaker 9: Henderson, Kentucky? 00:28:47 Speaker 3: Henderson? Now do you have time to get here tonight? 00:28:50 Speaker 9: I can. 00:28:51 Speaker 5: I can do it if I leave him now, Well you can't. 00:28:54 Speaker 2: You can't leave now. You're gonna have to win the contest in the second hour. But you'd have time after that, right, yep? 00:29:01 Speaker 3: Okay? Now why should you get to go? 00:29:05 Speaker 6: My boy got cut from JV last night, and this would make it up to you. 00:29:11 Speaker 2: Boy got cut from the JV team last night, and so you would take you would take your son? 00:29:18 Speaker 3: Am I correct? 00:29:19 Speaker 2: Yes? 00:29:20 Speaker 4: Sir? 00:29:20 Speaker 3: All right, So that's very nice. I appreciate it. 00:29:22 Speaker 2: Just hang on, very nice, you know, Ryan, You and I I remember when my when the coach at Middlesborough High School told me, uh, you can be a manager, son. You could be one of the best managers I've ever seen. I broke my heart. It would have been nice to have someone take me to get to something like this and then I could show them by sitting on the beach. 00:29:42 Speaker 4: Wouldn't that make you feel better? 00:29:43 Speaker 3: Would make me? Yes? 00:29:46 Speaker 2: Blue White game forget. I don't need your JV team. Drew I'm on the UK team. 00:29:52 Speaker 7: I hear you, but I'm a little I hope the son isn't listening, just knowing how Shannon asked X in Somerset. 00:29:58 Speaker 5: At doing over. 00:30:00 Speaker 3: Still we don't know alright, who's our next one? Michael? Michael? Where are you from? 00:30:08 Speaker 9: Louisville, Kentucky? 00:30:09 Speaker 3: Louisville? All right? Who would you take tonight? 00:30:13 Speaker 9: I would take my daughter. And the reason is because we have a special handshake that we developed when she plays basketball, and I thought we could teach it to whatever player we chose. 00:30:22 Speaker 2: Oh that's interesting. So you have a handshake you would teach to the player? 00:30:26 Speaker 3: Is it? 00:30:26 Speaker 2: Did you and your daughter learn it together? 00:30:30 Speaker 9: She kind of made it up, and you know I followed her. 00:30:33 Speaker 3: Okay, can you do it? 00:30:36 Speaker 4: Oh? 00:30:36 Speaker 9: Yeah? 00:30:37 Speaker 3: All right? 00:30:38 Speaker 2: So you but now you'd let your daughter do the handshake. You wouldn't make her stay in the crowd while you did the handshake. 00:30:44 Speaker 9: Right right, Well, unless all three of us could do it at the same time. 00:30:48 Speaker 3: Somehow you can't. There's only one person that don't get to do well. 00:30:52 Speaker 9: Yeah, I would be my daughter then, of course. 00:30:54 Speaker 3: All right, so there you go. 00:30:55 Speaker 2: So he has a handshake that would be nice. Taught that can teach the player the handshake. That could be very excited. 00:31:00 Speaker 3: All right, last one, who is this Mike? Mike? Where are you from? 00:31:06 Speaker 10: Lexington? 00:31:07 Speaker 3: Lexington? 00:31:08 Speaker 2: So we have Lexington, Louisville, Henderson, and Bowling Green. Where's my Eastern Kentucky folks? You didn't get through? 00:31:13 Speaker 4: All right? 00:31:13 Speaker 2: So who would you take tonight? 00:31:16 Speaker 10: I'd be taking my fifth grade son. 00:31:18 Speaker 2: Fifth grade son, all right? And why do you think you should get the tickets? Well? 00:31:24 Speaker 10: I feel like Shannon, my son is about the same age as you were when your buddies wouldn't let you play as Kentucky when you were playing backyard basketball. So I feel like this experience for him would set him up as a lifelong fan of Kentucky. 00:31:40 Speaker 2: Okay, so you're bringing up one of Shannon's weak moments and saying, remember remember when you were not able to play as Kentucky. There you go, all right, So hang on now remember to the four of you, you don't win. If this is this, we'll bring you on at the end of the show to play for the finals. 00:31:55 Speaker 3: So I will review. 00:31:56 Speaker 2: Shannon with you, and then you still do you give me your initial thoughts? What about Chad from bowling Green, who hasn't been to a game since Tubby Smith in two thousand and. 00:32:06 Speaker 5: Three, kind of felt bad for him. 00:32:07 Speaker 6: Then he brought up the fact that when he was there, he was at the game where they beat Vandy by one thousand. 00:32:12 Speaker 5: That kind of brought up a sore spot. So I don't know about that one. 00:32:14 Speaker 3: All right. So then you have Derek. 00:32:17 Speaker 2: Derek says his boy was cut from the JV basketball team. 00:32:21 Speaker 3: What's your thought of that one? 00:32:22 Speaker 6: Sounds like instead of going to the game, we need to go out to the backyard and get some shots up, maybe make the team next year. 00:32:28 Speaker 3: I knew this was coming. 00:32:30 Speaker 6: That's where you need to spend your time in the gym. 00:32:33 Speaker 5: Not in Kentucky's gym, but in theory. 00:32:35 Speaker 2: He could at the practice like see these good players and try to model his game. 00:32:39 Speaker 5: After though, Yeah, no, what's next. 00:32:42 Speaker 3: He's gonna get cut twice two days? All right? Michael. 00:32:50 Speaker 2: Michael is from Louisville, and uh what did he say? 00:32:53 Speaker 3: Oh, his daughter knows the handshit shake. His daughter has a. 00:32:56 Speaker 2: Handshake, and she'll teach the player the handshake. 00:32:59 Speaker 6: I'm not fully convinced that if he were to win that he would tell his daughter to go sit down. He's gonna go out there and do the handshake instead. I'm not convinced because when you asked him, he's like, oh, yeah, I'm gonna let my daughter do it. Yeah, I'm not convinced. 00:33:11 Speaker 3: There was hesitation in there. It did sound like there was a chance. Well, we're all gonna do it, and one can do it, all right. 00:33:19 Speaker 2: And then finally Mike and Lexington, he says, what I just wrote, buddies, Oh, he just so. 00:33:26 Speaker 3: He brought up your trauma. Oh yeah, trauma. 00:33:28 Speaker 2: His buddies do not let him play as Kentucky during. 00:33:31 Speaker 6: The Event's kind of how I became a Vandy fan so I can relate to the fourth caller there. 00:33:36 Speaker 5: So is it time to pick which one? 00:33:38 Speaker 4: Did I want? 00:33:38 Speaker 2: Yes, Chad with the I hadn't been since ninety six or two thousand and three. Derek's kid was cut from JV. Michael's kid has the handshake, and then Mike wants to turn his fifth grader into a fan because his friends are not fans yet. 00:33:53 Speaker 3: What do you think? 00:33:54 Speaker 4: All right? 00:33:54 Speaker 5: So caller one, the bowling green guy, you're out Tuesday night? 00:33:57 Speaker 3: He was taking the wife. 00:33:58 Speaker 6: He's the guy that went. He's out immediately. If he didn't bring that game up, he would have had a chance. 00:34:04 Speaker 5: But you're out. 00:34:05 Speaker 6: Number two. I hate the JV guy. He got cut, you're cut again, You're out. He was brutal, hit the gym. 00:34:15 Speaker 3: There's something about Somerset. Well, he did get left by himself an hour one. 00:34:21 Speaker 5: You're a little grumpy. 00:34:22 Speaker 6: Now it comes down to the guy with his daughter and the handshake, and the guy with his fifth grade son who wants. 00:34:28 Speaker 5: To take him to his first Kentucky. 00:34:29 Speaker 2: Can I just give one little thought before you make a pick. 00:34:32 Speaker 5: Sure, I won't take it into account, but go ahead. 00:34:36 Speaker 3: I'm not telling you what to do. 00:34:37 Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, But the one kid, we're not certain that kid is even a fan yet. Remember he's like wanting to turn his kid into a thing. The other girl has a handshake, but you're right, there's always the chance, he says, get out of the white kid. 00:34:51 Speaker 3: I'm doing the handshake. 00:34:52 Speaker 5: And that last guy is also from Louisville. 00:34:54 Speaker 4: Right, No, he's handshake guy. 00:34:57 Speaker 3: Okay, I got handshake's Louisville. Mike's from Lexington. 00:35:00 Speaker 6: Okay, Well, there's still a chance that the guy from Lexington's kid could be a Lobell fan if he doesn't get this experience. 00:35:06 Speaker 5: So I'm going with caller number four. 00:35:08 Speaker 6: I'm gonna hook him up with the finalists last spot. 00:35:11 Speaker 2: All right, Mike, come back on, Mike, are you there? 00:35:16 Speaker 10: I'm here? 00:35:17 Speaker 3: All right? So, first of all, do you want to thank Shannon? He picked you? 00:35:21 Speaker 10: Hey, Shannon, thanks buddy. We're gonna be rooting for Fana Beilt number two team. 00:35:26 Speaker 5: Okay, there we go. 00:35:27 Speaker 2: Now you haven't won yet, so we'll have to give your information. 00:35:30 Speaker 3: We'll call you at the of the show. 00:35:32 Speaker 2: You have to promise me, though, that your kid will be a Kentucky fan if he goes tonight. 00:35:39 Speaker 10: If you remember he called the post game show last year when Justin Edwards had the Big Game. 00:35:45 Speaker 3: Did not remember that, but I would, But I. 00:35:47 Speaker 10: Believe you he's a fan. 00:35:50 Speaker 2: All right, Well, hang on, get your information. We now have our final finalists. And Shannon was mean as always. Maybe he should have taken corn bred hemp after he to hour number one, you go to cornbreadhip dot com promo codes KSR full Spectrum flower only Hip. Help you sleep, relax, full spectrum flower only hip with our good friends at Cornbread. We'll take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 00:36:27 Speaker 3: Here and Don Franklin. 00:36:29 Speaker 2: Remember if you're here. 00:36:30 Speaker 3: By the end of the show, We're gonna do a contest. 00:36:32 Speaker 2: I'm gonna give two sets of two tickets away to people here in Summerset. Looks like folks excited about the possibility to be going should be a fun night. One person writes, Matt, I'm kind of upset about the Blue White game. I don't think it's right that it costs so much and that fans won't be able to see it. I totally get that opinion, Like I'm not. This is one of those I kind of understand both sides. I understand why they're doing it. I was told they're going to raise between one hundred and fifty thousand and a million dollars tonight for nil. You've got to have nil in order to succeed. I mean, most people think now these basketball programs to win a title probably need four. 00:37:12 Speaker 3: To five million in nil. 00:37:14 Speaker 2: UK basketball can get it done and one get twenty five percent of that one night. 00:37:19 Speaker 3: I understand why they do it. 00:37:21 Speaker 2: At the same time, I can also understand why fans would say, how you leaving us out? Here's the reality, though the reality is drew. For many years the Blue White Game, people had stopped caring about. They were not going to it, they were not watching it. The attendance was low. They had a heart and I think this is why they moved. That was because it was an event that people didn't seem to care about until and they. 00:37:47 Speaker 3: Thought this was a way to spice it up. 00:37:49 Speaker 7: Yeah, we all talk about how UK has to come up with these clever ideas to fundraise a little bit for an IL. We compliment Tennessee for the things they do. This is UK think out the box and trying to raise a bunch of money for the fan base. I'm with you, I completely get it. The people that are used to going and that's just beyond their means. But at the same time, UK has to try these things. 00:38:10 Speaker 3: I'm hoping. 00:38:11 Speaker 7: I don't know if he'll try this every year, but this seems kind of unique where both coaches are new, both teams are brand new, memorials new. I don't know if he'll be a one off year, but I mean this is the special year to do it and get the most out of it because you're not gonna have this again where everything's brand new. 00:38:27 Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they're gonna do this every year. I think they think. 00:38:30 Speaker 2: You know, Kentucky has some fundraising limitations for Nile, the biggest of which is we talked about this. We don't have a lot of mega donors at UK. We only have a couple. Some schools have like twenty, We've got like three, and so I think this is the way you try to make up for things like that. Ryan Tony Bennett, not the singer, but the coach, retired at fifty five years old. 00:38:58 Speaker 3: He's leaving Virginia. 00:39:00 Speaker 2: He won a national championship, he had a history of playing the most boring style of basketball that anyone's ever played. But two weeks before the regular season, retires. He says it's not health related. So I'm glad to know that because normally you'd hear something like that. At this time you think, wow, man, I hope he's okay. Not health related. He's doing a press conference actually here in five minutes to talk about why what do you think of Tony Bennett retiring right on the edge of the season. 00:39:26 Speaker 4: I was shocked, this close to tipping off. You know, they probably they probably have an exhibition game maybe next week. So here they are, just a week away from beyond the court. He steps away. I immediately, like you said, thought it had to be health issues. You don't go this close to tipping off the season and then step away. Maybe he knew he didn't have that fire, and he's trying to hand over to somebody to be an interim coach and hopes that interim coach one of his guys can get it. 00:39:46 Speaker 2: But see, that's what that's what it is. And I have to tell you. I listen, if the guy wants to step away, I'm four. I'm that's fine, man. You've made a lot of money, he's won a national title. I ain't's a bad look drew two weeks before the season step away, And I continue to say, I am so done with the hypocrisy of people mad about players leaving and making money. I said, I want you to imagine if Jackson Robinson quit the team right now. Oh, I want you to imagine what everybody's reaction would be. He'd be threatened, selfish, all this stuff. But the coach leaves, and again, assuming it's not health, the coach leaves, and we are like it's no big thing. I am so tired of people acting like the world is ending because players make money, and then justify coaches who will leave no matter what whenever they can, including and if he wants to retire or retire. But a week before the season, I just I like Tony Bennett. He's a great coach, and assume if it's health, that's different. But assuming it's not health, I just kind of think that's late. 00:41:01 Speaker 7: You know, when the news came out, immediately thought health or scandal. It's like Tony Bennett, the scandal, that seems impossible. Then they came out and said it's not health. So it's very fishy. I watched a fifteen minute interview with him because ACC media Day was like five days ago, and he seems excited talking about the team, what they're gonna do. So it's just very bizarre for it to drop like this right before they played their first game. 00:41:19 Speaker 2: I'd also say this, Ryan, if coaches don't like the modern system, then I would say get out, get because there will be people who want to do it. 00:41:29 Speaker 6: And if he didn't like it, he didn't like it in March, he didn't like it last March. Why didn't he retire? That it's selfish to do that. High roster is the same how you get a recruit, a freshman and say come play for me, and then leave right before. 00:41:40 Speaker 7: They Virginia's so slow that he tried to retire in March, but just now getting to it. 00:41:45 Speaker 3: Ryan's right, though. 00:41:46 Speaker 2: What he did is he waited to now so that his guy could get the job. 00:41:50 Speaker 3: That's why he did it. And I just that's lame to me. 00:41:53 Speaker 2: And Tony's always seemed like a classy guy. I just think it's the lame way to end what was otherwise a pretty amazing career. 00:41:59 Speaker 3: We'll take a break, come back our number two here in Somerset. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
