Now Here's Matt Jones. 00:01:06 Speaker 5: Waterback I remember too, take you sports radio if I'm nine two eight, two eighty seven. I have a friend who's Shannon. Her her kids are on a like nature tour and they said, one of the gods on the tour is listening to us. So all that you hear in this quiet part of nature is the tour guide and then my voice in the background, So hello to the tour. 00:01:27 Speaker 3: Wow, that's that's very nice. 00:01:29 Speaker 5: I like when people say that it'll play in their office or whatever. But I also like the idea the guys that they're like, let's go on this tour, and the guy's like, I'm playing this show no matter what. 00:01:38 Speaker 6: I'm disrupting nature right now. 00:01:39 Speaker 5: It's okay, nature, Nature's overrated, the quiet of nature. 00:01:43 Speaker 2: Quiet of nature. Walking through there and you hear dufin schmirch in the backgrounds. 00:01:47 Speaker 6: Whistle like attracts a bear or something, and it. 00:01:49 Speaker 3: Could be that's okay. I mean you can hear it. 00:01:52 Speaker 7: Yeah. 00:01:53 Speaker 8: Uh. 00:01:53 Speaker 5: Where where my new house is gets very quiet. I bet I was out there at night the other night. Uh huh, oh my goodness, Like that's you. That's really quiet out there. Yeah, quiet, kind of discerningly quiet. So I'm gonna have to get used to that. No traffic whatsoever, No traffic, just Shannon, just quiet. 00:02:14 Speaker 6: It's peace. I mean, I don't think you would like that, right, that's what on earth? 00:02:18 Speaker 3: Did not have peace in my neighborhood on Friday night. What happened, which well, this is probably be a story for tomorrow. There was just a confrontation and it wasn't good. We got through it. 00:02:33 Speaker 6: Stories of confrontations. You were in a confrontation. 00:02:36 Speaker 5: It was not my fault. But but we'll say I talked about on ESPN. Let me say something about ESPN really quick. A number of you wrote me this weekend. It's three hours. I understand if you all don't listen to all of Matt Myer, just trust me. Hour two yesterday, about halfway through a story about le High versus Coppin State baseball. 00:02:59 Speaker 3: Wow, you probably think, who cares? 00:03:01 Speaker 2: Yeah? 00:03:01 Speaker 5: Really, all I must say to you, it's the best three minutes of radio Matt Myron have ever done. Myron had me crying, laughing so much. I was watching everyone in the ESPN background. People were on the floor crying. I'm just gonna leave it. 00:03:16 Speaker 2: Halfway through hour two to tease. That's a great team. I'm gonna turn it in now you need to hear it, okay. 00:03:21 Speaker 3: And then we'll just we'll leave it at that. But it was I have not laughed that hard. 00:03:26 Speaker 2: Chop and state baseball, well it's what derived from that. 00:03:30 Speaker 5: Lee High beat Coppin State thirty eight to six in baseball, and we were talking about Okay, so all right, spring game, what happened? Well, you were I signed Ryan Shannon as UK football spring game reporter. 00:03:46 Speaker 2: Good crowd despite the weather, and they only got in like two and a half quarters and started raining. So we got in, got it, didn't get a whole game in, but everybody left talking about Kenny Minchie. And keep in mind, he didn't have his two best running backs, they're out hurt, didn't have his two best well two of these best receivers, they're out hurt. Didn't have his left tackle and still looks sharp. We made a couple of good passes. Did everyonde want talk about his legs like they didn't realize he was at mobile? He ran for a touchdown one time, but he even said after the game, I am not a dual threat quarterback, but he showed we can run a little bit. In the spring game, a lot. 00:04:21 Speaker 5: Of people told me they thought the efficiency and just the excite, you know, they actually ended up having to do a lot of dump offs and stuff. Maybe not as explosive as it will be normally, right, But then it just looked like a fun, more up tempo sort of. The environment just seemed a lot more of an exciting football than what we'd seen. 00:04:42 Speaker 3: Do you agree. 00:04:43 Speaker 2: Yeah, And he hit tight end Lily Rodriguez across down going down the middle. I mean, how many years of our fans wanted that to hit a tight end going down the middle, perfect, perfect throat to him, had made a nice little brought Kaufman, the sophomore from Sarah made a diving catch. But there just wasn't a lot of options because, like your stars are not there. The Carter kid from Paduca that they moved over from safety and running back look good. 00:05:06 Speaker 5: Yeah, they had a lot of their top guys were not playing right because they didn't want to. 00:05:10 Speaker 3: Hurt et cetera. Uh. 00:05:13 Speaker 5: Pretty good crowd, good crowd, yeah, when you consider that rain was coming, et cetera. Uh. 00:05:18 Speaker 2: They did the trick play at the end where they did like a half back pass and went for a touchdown and stein Is hinted, you know that's going to be part of his playbook. You know he's gonna you don't be afraid to have mixing a trick players. 00:05:28 Speaker 5: They got another four star commitment right now. Shannon UK football is ranked is the seventh best recruiting class in America. 00:05:36 Speaker 6: That's crazy, Like when was the last had anything granted there? 00:05:41 Speaker 3: This will go down. 00:05:42 Speaker 5: A lot of schools haven't gotten their players yet, but Shannon seventh past. 00:05:46 Speaker 6: Yeah, and he's got a tough schedule coming up next year too. 00:05:49 Speaker 5: But well, now's the time to pound exactly exactly he said. He said that now's the time to pounce. I want you to pull up Shannon. The quote he gave yesterday because I want to play this. It's on my Twitter was this is quote Saturday, and I just want to you know, I want to give Will a lot of credit. Now he hasn't played a game, so things are much easier when you haven't played a game. But there's such a joy about Will, Like I requested to have him on this week to tell I said, I wanted to talk like X and O's with to the extent I want to like get to know the players because I don't feel like I know the players. Do you know a lot of new faces. I mean, I really don't know the players at all. I don't know who's on the team. Really, I don't know who's good. And I want to have him kind of help teach me. But there's something so refreshing about just listening to him talk. And also in a time when Big Blue Nation continues to get pounded with negativity, some of its self inflicted, but some of it from the outside, we have a but football coach that says something like this, Shannon. 00:06:56 Speaker 9: I think when people come here, they see authenticity right from the coaching staff. They see real connection from the team. They love Lexington, they love University of Kentucky. They leve what we do on offense, defense and special teams. Just a bunch of real dudes, man, that coach football here that you know, guys don't have to feel on edge talking to like I don't wear like a quarter zip and like khaki pants at work, like I would trust like a football coach, you know. So I think when they come in our building, they're like, man, these are just normal dudes. They love ball, they love their families, they love the Lord, like that's what they are. And so I think that's what's really gravitating these players to hear is like minded people surround themselves with other like minded people, and so they come to Kentucky and they're right. Man, I never knew it was like this. Yeah, well, like we're going to recruit the best players in America. Like that's our job is to sign the absolute best players that we can and we're not going to back down to anybody. So I think when they get that vibe, when they have that when they see the confidence from our entire staff and our players, and then they're like, man, I'm gonna be a part of this. So it's been great so far. Win in spring is one thing. It's about when games on Saturday's come fall. 00:08:02 Speaker 3: That's awesome. You gotta love that. 00:08:04 Speaker 2: Fantastic. 00:08:05 Speaker 5: And then later he said that our fans have been awesome. They're psychotic in the best way possible. Yeah, which I love that. That's the truth. We are psychotic, but in the best way possible. 00:08:17 Speaker 7: Yeah. 00:08:18 Speaker 4: That's part of the reason why we had the best fan base there is And. 00:08:21 Speaker 3: I love that he says that. 00:08:22 Speaker 5: I'm I feel like everyone UK has been putting the old fans on the defensive right. Yes, and now here's the guy going, we're psychotic in the best way possible. 00:08:35 Speaker 3: Now he takes a huge shot at quarters. 00:08:39 Speaker 6: Poor Billy's gonna, I've got one on right now. It's wrong with zips. 00:08:43 Speaker 5: He says, We're not gonna walk around here in quarter zips and khaki. That's right, dabbo eat it. I think Billy felt personally offended by. 00:08:55 Speaker 2: The quarter zips this morning. 00:08:59 Speaker 5: That's the only thing Billy wars are quarter zips? 00:09:03 Speaker 3: Is Billy? You think Shannon out on will Stein? 00:09:05 Speaker 6: Now, maybe so. I kind of felt like he was attacking Billy. 00:09:10 Speaker 2: But that quote is why he is the perfect guy for this job. He not only has a great football mind, he gets it what it means to coach football at Kentucky, and he can relate to being one of us, you know what I mean. I think he's he's gonna make Kentucky football cool again because of the way he's approached the game. 00:09:28 Speaker 3: A bunch of real. 00:09:29 Speaker 2: Dudes, real dudes, real dude. Reath of fresh air coming in. No quarter zips or khakis. 00:09:35 Speaker 5: But also show let me give you another example though, of just these are little things, Okay, These are not like, like, this is not something that's huge. But let me just give you an example about the quarter zips. So I put out a tweet that says something like, will Stein ain't having your quarter zips? Yep, he responds to the tweet. I was thinking, besides Vince Merrill, has any coach responded to a tweet of mine? He responded with like a laughing face. I retweet it, and then fans start to write and go, wait a minute, man, I have quarterships. 00:10:12 Speaker 3: And then he responded to the fans. 00:10:15 Speaker 5: Okay, he responded to the fans because somebody had dug up a picture of him in a quarter zip and he was like, yeah, I guess I was a little aggressive. 00:10:23 Speaker 3: In my comment. But here's a. 00:10:24 Speaker 5: Random just random fans and the coach. I don't want coaches always responding to random fans, but occasionally, Shannon, that's kind of cool. 00:10:33 Speaker 6: Yes, connection to your fan base. 00:10:35 Speaker 5: If that guy the people he responded to, they'll be fans of his for a lot. 00:10:39 Speaker 2: That's right. Yes, Like I said, he's one of us. He gets it, man, He said of them. 00:10:43 Speaker 5: How many times do you think Shannon over the next five years, is Ryan going to use the phrase. 00:10:47 Speaker 3: He's one of us. He gets it. 00:10:49 Speaker 5: Minute Like I mean, I would like to have them a counter we should he's one of us. 00:10:58 Speaker 3: He gets it. Ryan Lemon count on her. 00:11:00 Speaker 6: Okay. 00:11:01 Speaker 5: Can he keep it under triple digits for the calendar year? No, but you've said it. What's interesting is you've said it three times in this set today. 00:11:13 Speaker 3: Yes. Can he keep it under one hundred in a year? 00:11:17 Speaker 6: Well, there's three, So he's one of us to go. 00:11:21 Speaker 3: He gets well because he can use it about Pope. 00:11:24 Speaker 2: Of course I can. 00:11:25 Speaker 5: And if they hire an ad with UK connections, then I just might want to have a varied phrase on But I do. I kind of like Shannon the idea of interacting with the fans, except. 00:11:38 Speaker 4: Yes, I limited him ount like every now and then. But you know, after a loss or something, you don't want him on there. 00:11:43 Speaker 3: No, of course not. 00:11:44 Speaker 2: We don't want him down, you know, but after the spring game during the off season, why not. 00:11:49 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:11:50 Speaker 5: I think he's done a tremendous job from everything I've seen. Obviously, the product on the field is what will matter the most, but there has to be excitement and the next step for UK football is now, You guys got to introduce this team does and by us, I just mean the fan base as a whole. Yeah, because we don't know these guys, a lot of new faces. Who's going to be the most known player on the team going into the season, Bryant. How many Kentuckians you think would recognize Ty Bryant in the lineup? 00:12:23 Speaker 2: He'd be the one name that had come back that people right, No one would know what he looks like. 00:12:29 Speaker 3: I mean, that's my point. They've got to introduce this team. 00:12:32 Speaker 5: The two most known players are probably Willie Rodriguez and Ty Bryant, and I would say both guys could walk the streets of Lexington pretty anonymously. So that it is now UK Football's job media introduced these players to this fan base. Because just remember what happened with Shaj Pete, even though he didn't even end up being great. How much did people love that kid for a while. 00:13:03 Speaker 6: Yeah, the only thing we had to talk about after media date. 00:13:06 Speaker 3: So now they need to introduce this team. 00:13:08 Speaker 5: Start with start with your Todd Bryans, and you Willie Rodriguez, then go to your Kenny min Cheese, then take your star. We just need to know them because that's the way you get people to love the guys because you know Week two, Shannon, we're playing out of in this stadium. I don't know if people process that. Do you all realize in week two? Week two, Yeah to Dad are coming here, They're coming. Is that going to be the biggest Week two game in the history of Kentucky football? 00:13:44 Speaker 3: I would argue, yes. 00:13:45 Speaker 5: It's been Florida before, but I think when it was Florida was usually there when we played him in Week two, I'm gonna say this is the biggest early He's in Commonwealth Stadium home game. Maybe one of those years when we opened the season with Louisville, maybe. 00:14:07 Speaker 2: But then usually the Week two is a under man opponent, no weaker opponent. 00:14:11 Speaker 3: Bama. 00:14:13 Speaker 5: Week two here, we could put the nail into bores Alabama coffin in Week two. 00:14:21 Speaker 2: That's true. 00:14:22 Speaker 3: If we beat him, Shannon, yeah, he's done. 00:14:25 Speaker 2: I get fired before he gets back to Tuscaloosa. 00:14:27 Speaker 4: I don't ever remember playing like a Georgia or any big team in the in the second week of the season. 00:14:32 Speaker 3: We played Old Miss. Did we've played Old Miss? 00:14:35 Speaker 5: We've played South Carolina in that game a couple times, but we certainly haven't had. 00:14:42 Speaker 2: Bama No Bama, so he's. 00:14:46 Speaker 3: Gonna be That's gonna be an awesome environment. I don't know what's gonna happen. 00:14:52 Speaker 5: But the build up to that game be awesome. Will be Kentucky sports at their best. Yes, the city of Lexington leading into that Alabama gate, especially when you consider it's Will Stein's first real big game, It'll be awesome. I'm getting chills just thinking about that'll be great. We'll take a break A five nine, twenty two eighty seven. It's KSR, welcome back, take you sports Radio. A five nine two twenty two eighty seven. Tell me about Stocktor Mortgage. 00:15:24 Speaker 2: Really quick, Stockton Mortgage. I literally had a guy. It's funny. We're gonna do this commercial because I had a guy text me this morning. I wanted to know the contact info for Stocktor Mortgage. It look starting to look for a house. They want to get pre approved. That's the thing to do is bring buying season hot and heavy, so stocking worker can help you be ready to attack the market. We had multiple offers on a house just this weekend. We tried to make it buy a house and with one of my buyers had that preapproval letter to can make us a little more powerful. You can do the same thing. So go to Stockton dot com and MLS A two five nine equal housing lender. 00:15:49 Speaker 5: What pressure rights? Matt, you talked last week about the Chevy Chase thing. You wouldn't believe it. One of my relatives is on that board. They've had they've gotten threats. 00:16:00 Speaker 3: That's crazy. Wow, dude, you. 00:16:02 Speaker 5: Couldn't pay me to be on a citizen zoning board. Watually you couldn't pay him because it's volunteer. 00:16:07 Speaker 2: Volunteer, no money to get at the thankless job and to get bood shaded. 00:16:13 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:16:14 Speaker 4: How much do you love your community if you're going to volunteer for that abuse? 00:16:19 Speaker 3: That's true, right, how would you want. 00:16:21 Speaker 6: To do I can't believe they could even find anybody to do that. 00:16:25 Speaker 4: Yeah, why would you towards the mayor job? 00:16:29 Speaker 10: Oh? 00:16:29 Speaker 5: Yeah, we at least the mayor job's a salary. You get to go to things. How the zoning people don't even get to do go to anything. 00:16:35 Speaker 2: No, they don't get invited to the big, fancy, bis. 00:16:37 Speaker 5: Thankless public job. What do we think it is? I would argue still, school board, that's a good one. School board, school board just would be. First of all, people get so angry. I mean, the Kentucky legislator. Did you see they just made a law that was about one guy. 00:16:57 Speaker 3: Did you see that. 00:16:57 Speaker 5: There's a guy on the Lexington school board who they made a law that so if you're a member of the Fayette County, if you're a teacher, you can't be on the school board. But this guy was a teacher and like Danville, but was on the Fayette County school board. So then they made a law that said, essentially, well, you can't teach somewhere else and then be on a school board somewhere else. 00:17:18 Speaker 3: It just made a law for him. Yeah. I don't know this guy. He may be a good school board member or a bad one. I don't know. 00:17:24 Speaker 5: But it's like, all right, legislature, you wouldn't be on the school board that badly. I think you'd be lucky to get anybody on the school board. 00:17:31 Speaker 3: That's true. 00:17:31 Speaker 2: He's somebody who's career is in education. 00:17:34 Speaker 5: Nope, we don't want anybody with knowledge. Nobody would knowledge since no way of knowledge. Well, it's good to have people with no knowledge, but what else besides school board would be a terriff fink with any. 00:17:51 Speaker 4: Kind of customer service thing, because anytime people talk to you, they're complaining. 00:17:56 Speaker 3: At least you're getting paid for that. Yeah. 00:17:58 Speaker 5: I've always said the worst job in customer service would be the person at the place where they lose baggage in the airport. 00:18:05 Speaker 6: Oh yeah, nobody's tell you you're doing a good job. 00:18:09 Speaker 3: No, it's gonna be forgetting my bags. 00:18:11 Speaker 6: No, everybody's their bags and leaves. 00:18:12 Speaker 3: Oh they're mad. Yeah. 00:18:13 Speaker 6: The only people there are the people who don't have their bags. 00:18:16 Speaker 5: I mean, there's no job I can think of where people are never. You ain't getting Christmas cards if you're the lost baggage woman. 00:18:23 Speaker 6: No, everybody hates you. 00:18:25 Speaker 3: Everyone hates you, and you have nothing to do with the thing to do with it. Yeah, that would be the worst. All right, who's next? 00:18:33 Speaker 6: Greg? 00:18:33 Speaker 3: Greg? Go ahead? Greg hey Man, first time, long time? Who hey. 00:18:41 Speaker 11: I know we're talking about football or in this session, but I did want to go back to basketball. Make two points if that's okay, go for it. One is that Mark Pope is reminding me of both Caliperi two point oh and Tubby Smith two point oh. And I'll explain that that the issue was neither one of them was able or willing one or the other to adapt. And it's like your whole point about having a GM, It's like, I don't know what the issue is. Maybe his hands are tied and he can't I don't know, but it looks like he just he just doesn't have or doesn't want to do what he needs to do to be competitive. And as far as Tubby, the issue with Tubby was he wouldn't adapt to recruit people that he needed to recruit. You know, we didn't run him out of here. You know, we were frustrated with his ten loss seasons, but we didn't run him off. We just wanted him to change. 00:19:36 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:19:36 Speaker 5: No, all these guys have had the same same issue. I appreciate the call. I mean, let's go, let's go through the Kentucky coaches that have seen their tenures here. In Tubby Smith, he did not want to. He had a team full of the top guys in recruiting. They frustrated him a little bit. He won a couple of years with guys that were not highly ranked, and he said, I can do that. And he didn't realize that Fitch, Hawk, Daniels, Hayes were the exceptions rather than the rule, and he ended up recruiting guys that just weren't as good as you needed at Kentucky to win a title. 00:20:10 Speaker 2: Yeah, he put all these eggs in the Tyler Hands roll basket and Brandon right basket. 00:20:14 Speaker 5: Also just but he also just was like, well, if I can win with Eric Daniels, i can win with any of game. But he didn't realize not everybody's Eric Daniels right. Cal Perry didn't realize that the evolution of the one and done doesn't work unless you get numbers one through eight, and didn't adapt to modern basketball, modern thing. Mark Stoops became just surrounded himself with friends at the end, didn't bring in new blood, and decided to not adapt to the changes in college football. Mark Pope is continuing now Mo Williams is an exception, but continuing to kind of keep the same analytical, smart guys around him. And there is this world of sort of street agents that's like, you know, we can take these guys for a ride. 00:21:09 Speaker 2: So there's still a staff opening on Mark Pope's staff. 00:21:12 Speaker 3: That's weird to me too, though, Why do we not have that field? Why don't she. 00:21:17 Speaker 2: Did this crucial time of transfer portal week. 00:21:19 Speaker 5: Like this is I mean, this is they got all summer to do nothing. Why why don't we have that field? 00:21:26 Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know. 00:21:29 Speaker 5: Again, be a nice thing, Shannon to ask somebody. Yeah, there's no one to ask. 00:21:32 Speaker 6: You can't talk to anybody. 00:21:33 Speaker 3: You can't talk to anybody. 00:21:35 Speaker 6: So we just have to make our own assumptions. 00:21:37 Speaker 3: So we just go. 00:21:38 Speaker 5: I mean, imagine when he does do an interview, I like so many things to ask. But here's what will happen. Well, people will try to ask questions about last year and he'll just go, We've moved on to a new year, which means none of those will get asked. 00:21:51 Speaker 2: But yeah, we still have these lingering questions. 00:21:52 Speaker 6: The problems this year if you don't start getting some players, Yeah. 00:21:55 Speaker 3: I mean, it's just frustrating. Who's next? Then nark go ahead and nark. 00:22:01 Speaker 12: Hey, guys, So I just wanted to talk about the spring game real quick. Yeah, it's just it feels it feels different, it feels great. 00:22:12 Speaker 3: You know. 00:22:12 Speaker 12: We had guys tailgating in the parking lot. 00:22:15 Speaker 8: We had. 00:22:17 Speaker 12: Just a great product on the field and even after the game, whenever it started raining, we had people doing the catch chant in the rain. It's like there's this electric vibe around the team this year. That is just something that feels different in special. Hopefully we were able to do something really good this year with this team. 00:22:40 Speaker 5: Yeah, I like that. I didn't know that about the chanting after the game. I appreciate it, but that's cool. I mean the kind of person that goes to the spring game in football that's a dedicated UK football fan, those are the people you really need to cater to. Those are the people that you know you you got to be a big time fan to get in your car and go sit with a threat of rain watch guys play in a practice game in April. So like, those are the people to me, those are the diehards. That's who UK really needs to make sure are happy. And it sounds like they are. 00:23:09 Speaker 2: Yeah, and they did. They don't think they got away from that for a couple of years. They got to keep those people happy. That's the life, the backbone of your program, your fan base. Yeah, I don't think you get rid of it. 00:23:58 Speaker 2: No, we've kind of adapted it. 00:24:00 Speaker 3: Yes, just say that video of the old couple at the baseball game. 00:24:04 Speaker 2: Yes, that was awesome. Life goals right there is it? 00:24:09 Speaker 3: Yeah? 00:24:09 Speaker 2: Yeah, he retired, go to good season tickets. 00:24:12 Speaker 3: To every game. 00:24:13 Speaker 2: That's awesome. Good for them, that's very very sweet. 00:24:16 Speaker 3: They should. They should do a feature on those two. They should. I don't know who that is. 00:24:22 Speaker 6: You guys, good Mario Mario could yeah? 00:24:25 Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah. They lost another series. You just can't get over the hump in these series. Relief pitching is a struggle. 00:24:33 Speaker 2: I thought thought they won the Vanderbilt Series. No, no, they have to get one Friday night on the walk off Grand Slam, say that there were two other games. I thought they won on Saturday. Okay, my bad. They lost yesterday? 00:24:45 Speaker 3: And why we said they lost? 00:24:48 Speaker 2: I thought they had won. 00:24:48 Speaker 6: Darren Hedrick's call, that was great of that Grand Slam. 00:24:51 Speaker 3: If you haven't heard it, I'll tell you whose call needed some work with. 00:24:54 Speaker 6: They need to wake them up. 00:24:55 Speaker 5: Dick gab was like long ply ball Grand sad Tucky wins five to three. 00:25:03 Speaker 2: Darren Herricks is awesome. 00:25:07 Speaker 5: I mean, god, wait, we gotta wake Dick gave a caffeine or something, even little roots and fruits or something there. 00:25:15 Speaker 6: Darren made up for it with his excitement. 00:25:17 Speaker 3: I didn't get to hear Darren. Can I hear Darren's billyhead. 00:25:21 Speaker 6: I'll see if he can sider it over to me. 00:25:23 Speaker 2: It's really good. 00:25:24 Speaker 3: I would like uh, I would like to hear that. 00:25:26 Speaker 5: One person says, Matt non paying h O a president also a thankless job. 00:25:31 Speaker 6: The h it's the worst. Do you have an H in your new house? 00:25:35 Speaker 3: I think so? Yeah? 00:25:36 Speaker 4: Oh boy, yeah whatever with your money bag so you don't care. 00:25:41 Speaker 6: But I've been talking about the ho A. You gotta pay and they do nothing for you. 00:25:45 Speaker 3: Nothing. 00:25:47 Speaker 4: I had one where they the only thing they did they planted some flowers at the entrance of them. Yeah, I'm paying for it, at the entrance of the street to come into the neighborhood. 00:25:57 Speaker 6: And then they would plow all. 00:26:00 Speaker 4: The snow off of your street if it were like three inches or more. 00:26:04 Speaker 3: Sounds like this is a very active h o A. 00:26:07 Speaker 4: But you get like an inch of ice and they do nothing about it. 00:26:10 Speaker 6: And I'm going wide. 00:26:11 Speaker 5: They didn't pay for that, So do you think it's like a money laundry scheme? 00:26:16 Speaker 3: H oh wow. 00:26:18 Speaker 4: I don't have one now, but when I did, I'm like, you know, I don't have a clubhouse. 00:26:21 Speaker 6: There's no pool. 00:26:22 Speaker 5: I have a bigger issue with my neighborhood, which is they have a neighborhood Facebook group and they won't admit me. 00:26:28 Speaker 6: They're gonna talk about it. 00:26:29 Speaker 5: I applied, I had to fill in an application and they still haven't admitted me. 00:26:35 Speaker 2: It's in review, the review in your application. Gotta check out your sources. 00:26:38 Speaker 5: But there's like a thousand people in the group, and I feel like, you know, all right, get. 00:26:43 Speaker 3: To know your neighbors. 00:26:45 Speaker 2: Nope, not yet not in is it a Facebook group. 00:26:49 Speaker 5: It's a Facebook group, but it's like they I can tell it's active posts they talk about maybe their gossiping about meat. 00:26:56 Speaker 3: That's why it is. 00:26:58 Speaker 4: They give them time to go back in, delete all the stuff they've said about you before they let you in. 00:27:02 Speaker 6: Now I've got Darren's call. If you want to hear that. 00:27:04 Speaker 3: All right, go ahead and play. 00:27:05 Speaker 6: All right, here we go. 00:27:07 Speaker 7: When's the tying run at third? Tarnish a second? The one one swung on high fly ball right field back gohoest. 00:27:15 Speaker 13: Johnstone at the wall. 00:27:18 Speaker 7: It's gone, It's gone, it's gone. 00:27:25 Speaker 13: Hey w Brand slam by Braxton Van Cleve, cat swim. 00:27:33 Speaker 3: There you go. That's great. And then he counted that with on fly ball home run, Cat's win. It's good. 00:27:43 Speaker 2: I'm sure it was a little better than that. 00:27:47 Speaker 3: You want to find that. 00:27:48 Speaker 6: I can find the other one. 00:27:50 Speaker 3: Go find the other one. Tell you what you you play him back to back? Okay, yeah, and then let's see if we can figure out who is who? 00:27:57 Speaker 6: Okay. 00:27:58 Speaker 5: Amongst the two calls, Darren's was really good. I agree, Darren's great. We'll do the other one in just a minute. Who's up next, Let's go to Jordan. Jordan, go ahead, Jordan. 00:28:13 Speaker 8: Hey, Matt, guys. Uh, I'm calling you guys. A few weeks back when Donny Freeman actually hit the border and I was really wanting him to come, and I was really excited. 00:28:25 Speaker 3: I think at this. 00:28:25 Speaker 8: Point where we're at with with the foards that are left, I think Pope's just gonna have to be either pay Donnie or take a risk of not paying him and maybe risking his season and his job in his career. He doesn't have a season that's going to pan out. I think you just got to take the risk. I'm paying Donny because. 00:28:44 Speaker 3: If you have. 00:28:46 Speaker 8: And you don't get Stokes too. 00:28:48 Speaker 5: But yeah, you also said a president though, I mean, this is part of what there was somebody and I can't remember who said it. 00:28:55 Speaker 3: I appreciate the call. 00:28:56 Speaker 5: But I saw one of the writers say part of what's hurt Kentucky this year is the perception that because they spent so much money last year, there was this idea of, oh, wait a minute, you spent X on Brandon Garrison last year. 00:29:08 Speaker 3: I'm at least worth that. Yeah, And I think that's so this stuff. 00:29:12 Speaker 5: You know, Kentucky built a reputation and now you have to like try to change it. So if you overpay again, you may be asking not only to overpay in this case, but now future people are gonna. 00:29:22 Speaker 3: Then the guy you already signed goes. 00:29:24 Speaker 2: Wait a minute, like kind of the caller was saying, if this is kind of a make or break year for Pope, you just have to give him the money and go out and get him whatever he needs, just to. 00:29:32 Speaker 5: But that's what they did last year. And when you say they who's giving him the money? 00:29:40 Speaker 2: Pope? 00:29:41 Speaker 3: What do you mean, Pope? 00:29:43 Speaker 2: Pope's in al go out and get this. 00:29:46 Speaker 5: You still have to go raise those funds, right, Like I mean, they had a budget. They have a budget, a budget they want to stick to, and I understand that, and so far they have stuck to the budget. But now I don't know. I don't know what happens if your budget, you don't get the guy. 00:30:00 Speaker 2: If there's not a backup plan, there's nobody else out there. 00:30:04 Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what you do? Who's next ship? 00:30:06 Speaker 6: Let's go to logan? 00:30:08 Speaker 3: Logan, Go ahead, logan? 00:30:11 Speaker 14: First time? 00:30:12 Speaker 7: Long time? 00:30:12 Speaker 3: Who are. 00:30:15 Speaker 2: Uh? 00:30:16 Speaker 14: I got tickets to the Alabama game and it was a birthday present from my older brother. Shout out Shane Baker. Is my question to you is as a first time trill, Uh, it's been my first game, my first college football game, what's advice you give somebody to go to to go to Kroger Field and have a good experience. 00:30:39 Speaker 5: Well, first of all, that's awesome, it's gonna be your first college football game. We don't know what time the game is, and I'm going to just guess that game will be either that game will probably be the three thirty ab se that's my game. 00:30:53 Speaker 2: Because usually with two there's not great matchups. 00:30:55 Speaker 5: Yeah, and I mean it's Alabama, it's a it's a so yeah, my guess is that's gonna be your three thirty game, which means you're gonna I would say you come the night before Lexington before a big football game. 00:31:08 Speaker 3: The Friday night is gonna be buzzy. Of course, like how old are you, sir? 00:31:14 Speaker 12: Uh? 00:31:14 Speaker 14: Thirty one? 00:31:16 Speaker 5: Thirty one, so you can still hit the streets and not feel like an old man. So like you you should go around downtown Lexington and sort of soak up a big see because they'll be Alabama fans everywhere, right, they'll they will be Alabama fans. 00:31:30 Speaker 3: Everywhere, so that will be fun too. 00:31:32 Speaker 5: Then on Saturday Day, I would say, you know, do caspar at some point during the opening I do think in. 00:31:40 Speaker 3: The morning, I also think. 00:31:42 Speaker 5: I also think that the tailgate will be as good as it can be. Yep, right for an Alabama game. They'll be Alabama fans everywhere tailgating, like they will kind of take up Nicholasville Road tailgating as well. And then you know, just soak up every minute. And then when the game is over, if we win, the city will lose its collective minds and you can just get caught up in the wave. If we lose, go have a nice dinner somewhere and uh and enjoy it. 00:32:11 Speaker 3: But what a great first weekend to go watch a college. 00:32:13 Speaker 5: Football game, right right? Thank you guys, appreciate it, all right? So Shanny, you got the two calls? Yeah, let's see if you can tell which one was we all right? I guess all right, you just play one of them randomly, right now? 00:32:27 Speaker 2: Great performance by Jackson jocin. 00:32:33 Speaker 3: What hamber High is it? 00:32:34 Speaker 7: Deepen up back? 00:32:36 Speaker 5: He goes. 00:32:40 Speaker 6: By Braxton fan, please. 00:32:45 Speaker 2: His first home run as a Wildcat is a walk up as Kentucky peaks vander Ball. 00:32:52 Speaker 5: Okay, now there's that one. Yes, Now let's play the other one. 00:32:56 Speaker 7: Owen's the tying run at third, Tarnish at second, the one one swung on high fly ball right field. Back, goes Johnstone. 00:33:05 Speaker 3: At the wall. 00:33:07 Speaker 7: It's gone, It's gone, It's gone. 00:33:15 Speaker 13: Hey, walk off grand slam by Braxton van Cleave. 00:33:20 Speaker 3: Now can you tell Shannon which one was switch? 00:33:22 Speaker 6: Yes, I can. 00:33:25 Speaker 2: I think Dix was better than we gave him credit for. But Darren's was great. 00:33:29 Speaker 3: It was yeah. 00:33:31 Speaker 2: Yeah, you kind of said home run of the wall grand slam. He got into it a little bit. 00:33:37 Speaker 3: Sorry, home run grand slam is a little. 00:33:42 Speaker 2: More than that, a little more. 00:33:43 Speaker 3: Oops Jackson Jokin? What his hammer high? 00:33:50 Speaker 7: Is it deep enough? Back? 00:33:51 Speaker 5: He goes. 00:33:57 Speaker 4: By Braxton fan I think you were hearing the PA announce your first time. 00:34:03 Speaker 3: I'll stick by my call. 00:34:06 Speaker 5: Nevertheless, both were good, we still lost the series. There it goes gets Red get red. 00:34:16 Speaker 3: These good people, I believe you. 00:34:19 Speaker 5: It doesn't mean that the call was good. Someone could be good people and it was not. There couldn't you would agree with me. There could have been more energy. 00:34:27 Speaker 2: He gets it because he's one of us. 00:34:30 Speaker 5: All right, fair enough, fair enough, I will I will allow that one. I picked that magic game yesterday? 00:36:09 Speaker 2: Oh you did? 00:36:09 Speaker 3: Yeah? 00:36:11 Speaker 2: I watched the Rockets and the Lakers Saturday night. 00:36:14 Speaker 3: Yeah, that's tough with Durant out, poor. 00:36:16 Speaker 2: Red and Luke at Luca didn't play for the Lakers and Durant didn't play for the Rockets. Yeah, Reid didn't have his best game. 00:36:22 Speaker 5: Hurricanes play to night too, let's get let's get another wind. We won game one against Ottawa. Yeah, and uh, did you see those two guys? They just fought right when it started. Did you see that chanton? 00:36:32 Speaker 3: No? First, first, I guess what not play. 00:36:35 Speaker 2: They dropped the puck, and they dropped them. 00:36:38 Speaker 5: They dropped the puck. They both threw their gloves off and just fought. Why wait, but like nothing did even happened yet, And they asked the guy on the Hurricanes, why did you all fight? And he goes, he just looked at me and he had to look like he wanted to fight, so we fought, and they said, well, did you discuss it before? And they're like no, Sometimes you just know a guy wants to fight, and everybody else just around me and let him. Oh like that, that's only in hockey, yep, said Shannon. 00:37:02 Speaker 3: Do you agree. Sometimes you just look at a guy and you know he wants to fight. 00:37:05 Speaker 4: Never looked at a guy and just knew he wanted to fight. Guy's never looked at me like that, though. 00:37:09 Speaker 5: And they just fight and then one of them gets knocked to the ground and then it's over, and then you know what, they get right back up and start playing against yep. 00:37:15 Speaker 6: Like nothing ever happened. 00:37:16 Speaker 4: I saw your Reds got in a fight with the Giants. They couldn't beat him, so they tried to beat him up at. 00:37:20 Speaker 6: The end of that game. 00:37:20 Speaker 5: First of all, we won that series, and then they did try that got cussed. No cussing. Wait till the next time they play. When they play in September, somebody's getting hit in the head. Oh, there's no doubt that one at it. 00:37:30 Speaker 2: I remember that. 00:37:31 Speaker 3: Yeah, that's gonna be a thing, all right. 00:37:33 Speaker 5: What about the guy that crashed his uh oh yeah, Virginia Tech. 00:37:37 Speaker 3: Yeah, what do we think about it? 00:37:39 Speaker 2: The dude has carrying the American flag. Everybody's eyes are on him coming in, hits the scoreboard, nails the scoreboard. He hits the scoreboard hard, Yes he does. Did we ever hear what his injury was? 00:37:50 Speaker 6: No injuries, He was fine. Yeah, apparently he wasn't injured. 00:37:53 Speaker 3: He wasn't hurt at all. 00:37:54 Speaker 4: But I love to imagine how scared and embarrassed you would be at the same time. 00:38:00 Speaker 3: Was it was like a cartoon. 00:38:01 Speaker 4: He was just hanging there the whole twenty minutes. They brought out a crane. The first one wasn't long enough, they're bringing a second train to get him down, and he's just hanging there and hanging off the store football and they got this guy hanging from the scoreboard. 00:38:14 Speaker 2: No favorite, my favorite part of the those story. Yeah, he had to hang there for twenty thirty minutes waiting to try to get him down, and no, you can't go anywhere. 00:38:21 Speaker 3: He just hanging there. Here's my question though about it. 00:38:24 Speaker 5: People say, no more flyover, but like most of the time it works. 00:38:28 Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe he was just. 00:38:29 Speaker 5: Maybe he's like you you get as signed the CEA team for the Virginia take. 00:38:33 Speaker 4: Well, guy didn't land in the stadium. He landed over in a field. It was like a cross he did. 00:38:37 Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't think anybody else. 00:38:38 Speaker 3: So there was two of them, there was three three. 00:38:40 Speaker 2: The first the first guy landed, but he came in hot. Tell what, Yeah, he came in hot. And then the second and third guy didn't even make it in the stadium. 00:38:48 Speaker 3: So you'd rather be the guy who missed the stadium all again. 00:38:51 Speaker 6: Yeah, Yeah, he's the winner in this situation. 00:38:53 Speaker 3: Yeah, and he was the worst of the group. 00:38:55 Speaker 6: He had one job land somewhere on the field. 00:38:58 Speaker 5: But see, it's a good It's a good tidbit because you know when you see people at the super Bowl and stuff. They got to be the head of their sky jumping class. Oh yes, but the other people have to practice somewhere. 00:39:09 Speaker 2: Virginia text spring game. 00:39:10 Speaker 5: We learned that they practiced by running into the scoreboard. But what the thing is that could have been a lot worse. What if you had landed on people? 00:39:16 Speaker 2: Yeah, it could have been a lot worse. 00:39:18 Speaker 3: You know, I mean that's a huge stadium. He could have just landed on someone. 00:39:23 Speaker 2: It looked like when he hit the scoreboard some pieces fell off. That could have been maybe a big piece that hurt somebody sitting below the scoreboard. 00:39:29 Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, and what's the payoff there? What do you really get some guys coming in with American. 00:39:34 Speaker 5: Doing UK Oh yeah, it's cool and hand the football or whatever. 00:39:39 Speaker 2: Yes, and maybe on a windy day you kind of cancel the plans if it's a windy day. 00:39:44 Speaker 6: Here's a light bulb. 00:39:45 Speaker 5: Did you all like the San Antonio Spurs crowd last night? 00:39:49 Speaker 6: They were dressed, yeah, very coordinated. 00:39:51 Speaker 3: I liked it. I was amazed. 00:39:53 Speaker 5: First of all, you know you always see wide out or blue and white. They went multi coy. They had a whole fiesta. You know, it was called Okay, and so they were fiesta and the thing was santon. They made everybody do it, and apparently they scoreboard shamed people who weren't doing it, so they would so during the breaks, they would shoot the camera on anyone down low not wearing it, and everyone would yell at them until they put their T shirt. 00:40:22 Speaker 3: I love that. 00:40:23 Speaker 4: But they gave the shirt, thought them the T shirt. See that's part of it right there. When you have the T shirt right there, you have no excuse not to put it on. 00:40:30 Speaker 3: Are you good with the scoreboard shaming? Yes? Yes, see I would love I just secretly would love that. 00:40:40 Speaker 5: I would love to watch them if they if the people that did it were really ruthless and they went to like all those people that owing these own these hoity toity Keenland boxes and they were like, yeah, I understand sor that's a suit, put that T shirt on. 00:40:58 Speaker 3: I would love it. Hey, hey, Rocky Atkins, get your. 00:41:03 Speaker 4: T shirt off you ad they're gonna you know, Robert Stivers. 00:41:07 Speaker 3: I know you don't wear medium, but put it on. 00:41:09 Speaker 6: They want to make a donor upset. 00:41:12 Speaker 3: Right, that's what I want to see him do. 00:41:16 Speaker 2: I don't know if that's gonna happen at Rubya, but I love the idea. 00:41:20 Speaker 3: Who's next? Will Will go ahead? 00:41:22 Speaker 10: Will Matt switching to baseball? Back to baseball real quick. Was raised in Hopkinsville in the seventies when we had three TV channels. The other channel was the education channel. The guy that owned that channel in Hopkinsville was a big Reds fan. He figured out a way to pirate Reds games with Al Michaels doing the commentating in the seventies. I've been a Reds fan ever since. It only lasted about two years though, because he got caught, but soul, I've been a red fan. 00:41:58 Speaker 5: He would pirate the game, the Reds games and put them on local TBS. 00:42:04 Speaker 10: Yes, yeah, they were on the TDF and there were there were. 00:42:10 Speaker 5: You remember on the Braves telecast Shanon. When we were kids. It would always go this is uh, this game is owned and copyrighted by the book. Any used distribute it was for the guy Hopkins exactly. That's why they did it. It was the guys Hopkinsville. Well, I appreciate the call. I didn't realize that there are a lot of Reds fans in Hapkinsville. 00:42:32 Speaker 3: Now we know why never knew that story. 00:42:34 Speaker 2: But I love the fact that guy figured out a way to broadcast the Reds game for everybody. 00:42:37 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:42:38 Speaker 5: Well, I've enjoyed it. I really have to say, though. They got to replace Barry Larkin. I mean, he makes Dick Gabriel sound excited during these calls. Oh, bring the Cowboy to TV. All right, We'll see you all tomorrow. This has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
