The Sasquatch I saw was Ceiling Height - My Bigfoot Sighting Shorts Episode 13

My Bigfoot Sighting

Tonight’s guest, Dave, is from Mountain Iron, Minnesota but he had his sighting in Stillwater, Minnesota, in 1992. He was on a family hunting trip when he had his sighting. He and his family members were deer hunting on land that he and his family would travel to every year, like a tradition. The land was near Grand Rapids, Minnesota. There were lots of rolling hills and beautiful scenery there. When Dave had his sighting, he was on a ridgetop, hunting out of a 16-foot-tall ladder stand. A short time after climbing into his stand, he saw a pickup drive into view with around 8 men in its bed. Dave knew the men were getting ready to do what’s called a drive, where they would spread out a walk through the woods, in an attempt to drive deer toward hunters who were lying in wait, up ahead. When the truck had driven about a half mile across a clearing Dave was by, he started to hear footsteps coming from the bottom of the hill he was sitting on top of. It didn’t sound like a deer moving through the forest. It sounded different than that. That left Dave puzzled for a short time until he saw what had been walking below him…

<v Speaker 1>My big foot sighting happened in nineteen ninety two. My
<v Speaker 1>name is Dave. I'm from Mountain Iron, Minnesota. In nineteen
<v Speaker 1>ninety two, I was living with my family in Stillwater, Minnesota,
<v Speaker 1>and it was a family hunting trip that weekend. There
<v Speaker 1>was me and my dad, my uncle, and one of
<v Speaker 1>my cousins were all up there. It was land that
<v Speaker 1>my family had a tradition of going back to every
<v Speaker 1>year near Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The local paper company owns
<v Speaker 1>an eleven thousand acre piece there. It's all beautiful rolling hills,
<v Speaker 1>lots of hardwood trees, just a beautiful tranquil setting for
<v Speaker 1>a fall day. It was out eventful morning. I didn't
<v Speaker 1>see any deer, and then about nine thirty in the morning,
<v Speaker 1>I could see across a cut at the bottom of
<v Speaker 1>the hill. I was up on a ridgetop in a
<v Speaker 1>sixteen foot ladder stand deer hunting, and I could see
<v Speaker 1>a pickup truck about a mile away starting to come
<v Speaker 1>down a logging road again at the bottom of the hill.
<v Speaker 1>This was a fresh cut that they had logged off,
<v Speaker 1>and so I could see the pickup truck coming. In
<v Speaker 1>the box of the pickup truck had about eight guys
<v Speaker 1>in there looking like they were going to do what's
<v Speaker 1>known as a deer drive, where a whole group of
<v Speaker 1>guys will get out in one location, spread out and
<v Speaker 1>then walk through the woods to some other people that
<v Speaker 1>are standing waiting for the deer to come running out
<v Speaker 1>of the woods. Well, they got about halfway across the
<v Speaker 1>clearing that I could see, so they were maybe a
<v Speaker 1>half mile at the most away and down below the
<v Speaker 1>bottom of the hill. I couldn't see the very bottom
<v Speaker 1>of the hill where I was sitting, but I could
<v Speaker 1>hear a no. Always that wasn't like deer walking it was.
<v Speaker 1>It was definitely something that seemed heavier and I got
<v Speaker 1>ready though, thinking maybe it's a great big buck coming
<v Speaker 1>up over the top of the hill, and instead what
<v Speaker 1>I saw is just amazing. I could see the top
<v Speaker 1>of the head come over the crest of the hill
<v Speaker 1>first as it was coming up, and this this thing
<v Speaker 1>that I saw, well, it was just it was just massive.
<v Speaker 1>It was about ceiling height in a house, so I'm
<v Speaker 1>guessing it was eight foot tall. But it wasn't like
<v Speaker 1>the Jacklink commercial Bigfoot. It wasn't Chewbacca from Star Wars.
<v Speaker 1>It was something that had hair over its entire body,
<v Speaker 1>but yet there was hatches where you could see through
<v Speaker 1>the hair. It didn't have huge canine teeth. At this point,
<v Speaker 1>I'm only probably thirty yards away from this thing, and
<v Speaker 1>it's walking across the hill, and at first it's paying
<v Speaker 1>more of attention to the pickup truck down in that
<v Speaker 1>clearing than it was to me, and I'm coming apart
<v Speaker 1>in the tree. I actually did raise my rifle up
<v Speaker 1>and actually was looking at this thing like I was
<v Speaker 1>going to shoot it, because I was terrified. And then
<v Speaker 1>when it turned and looked at me, the face was
<v Speaker 1>so human like that there was no way that I
<v Speaker 1>could have possibly shot this thing. And then the weirdest
<v Speaker 1>thing happened was that it was almost like it communicated
<v Speaker 1>with me through telepathy, and a calm came over me,
<v Speaker 1>like it had told me I'm not going to hurt you.
<v Speaker 1>And it kept looking back over its shoulder towards me,
<v Speaker 1>and as it was walking away, this thing was just massive.
<v Speaker 1>I mean, I don't know what I could compare it
<v Speaker 1>to the biggest offensive lineman but yet much taller I
<v Speaker 1>guess from the NFL. But the type of thing that
<v Speaker 1>even to this day, I feel like if I would
<v Speaker 1>have shot it, it probably wouldn't have made a huge
<v Speaker 1>amount of difference. That thing could have been on top
<v Speaker 1>of me very quickly. And as I watched this thing
<v Speaker 1>walk away, that's when I completely came apart. Fear overtook
<v Speaker 1>me again. When it was out of sight where it
<v Speaker 1>walked over the hill goes down into a ravine and
<v Speaker 1>it's sticked down in there, and I could hear it
<v Speaker 1>walking away, but I couldn't see it anymore. And that's
<v Speaker 1>like I said, when I came totally apart, and I
<v Speaker 1>got down from the tree, probably fifteen minutes after that,
<v Speaker 1>when I could compose myself enough to safely climb down,
<v Speaker 1>and I walked back to the pickup truck. And at
<v Speaker 1>this time, probably it was about ten thirty. By the
<v Speaker 1>time I made it back to the truck, my dad
<v Speaker 1>arrived back at the pickup truck where we normally met
<v Speaker 1>up every day for lunch before we went back out
<v Speaker 1>for the afternoon hunt. And when my dad got there,
<v Speaker 1>I just told him that I wasn't feeling well and
<v Speaker 1>I wanted to go home. I was a twenty year
<v Speaker 1>old guy that didn't want to admit to his dad
<v Speaker 1>what just happened because I wasn't sure what to tell him,
<v Speaker 1>because my family's a bunch of good old boys, and
<v Speaker 1>I knew that they would ridicule me to no end
<v Speaker 1>if I tried to explain to him what I saw,
<v Speaker 1>they would have discounted it as a bear because there
<v Speaker 1>was a lot of beer up in that area. And
<v Speaker 1>I can assure you what I saw was no bear.
<v Speaker 1>It body shape wise had the it was like no shoulders,
<v Speaker 1>kind of like Mike Tyson the boxer. So it was
<v Speaker 1>just like I said, massive we got in the truck.
<v Speaker 1>I didn't say much to Dad the whole way home
<v Speaker 1>and got back and I never went back, and anyone
<v Speaker 1>that knows me knows that I'm a very obsessed whitetail hunter,
<v Speaker 1>and I never went back to that location again, and
<v Speaker 1>I never even said a word to anyone in my family,
<v Speaker 1>including my own father, till about ten or fifteen years ago,
<v Speaker 1>when I finally talked to him about it. And at
<v Speaker 1>first he did kind of smirk at me and chuckle
<v Speaker 1>about it, and then he really that I was being
<v Speaker 1>serious about it, and the ridicule stop then, and he
<v Speaker 1>started asking me questions about it to make sure that
<v Speaker 1>it wasn't a bear, which for sure it was not,
<v Speaker 1>and he just told me, I wondered all these years
<v Speaker 1>why you never wanted to go back there. So that's
<v Speaker 1>how that went until recently. I literally had not been
<v Speaker 1>back to that area since nineteen ninety two. Recently I
<v Speaker 1>finally went back with two of my brothers, and when
<v Speaker 1>we went back out there, obviously the terrain had changed
<v Speaker 1>a little bit because of the logging going on on
<v Speaker 1>that piece of land, but we didn't have to walk
<v Speaker 1>too far down the logging road until we found a
<v Speaker 1>set of footprints that were very odd to us because
<v Speaker 1>my brother Dennis has a set of sixteen boots and
<v Speaker 1>the tracks were bigger than his feet, and the footprints
<v Speaker 1>were in a heel to toe stepping motion, which would
<v Speaker 1>be very odd for that part of the woods. Again,
<v Speaker 1>there was probably a week's worth of melting on the snow,
<v Speaker 1>so there no definitive way to do anything with those.
<v Speaker 1>I did take some pictures of that. Thanks to onyx
<v Speaker 1>the maps, I was able to find the exact location
<v Speaker 1>of where my sighting occurred, even though the woods at
<v Speaker 1>the logging road looked completely different. The odd thing was
<v Speaker 1>that when we got back to the area where my
<v Speaker 1>sighting was. For some reason, the loggers had logged off
<v Speaker 1>on all four directions, but left an area about the
<v Speaker 1>size the length of a football field, in the width
<v Speaker 1>of a football field in that location, and in the
<v Speaker 1>very dead center of that is a structure of trees
<v Speaker 1>that were tipped over, almost like a teepee, but they
<v Speaker 1>were supporting one large tree that was about eight foot
<v Speaker 1>off the ground, horizontal to the ground, parallel to the ground,
<v Speaker 1>I should say. And it was just creepy. And we're
<v Speaker 1>all three pretty big guys, but all three of us
<v Speaker 1>were just feeling uneasy back there, like we were being
<v Speaker 1>watched or something. And well we decided that, you know,
<v Speaker 1>it was time to get out of there, and we
<v Speaker 1>got out of there, and I'm glad I went back,
<v Speaker 1>but at the same time, I was terrified the whole
<v Speaker 1>time that I was out there. It just I will
<v Speaker 1>go back to that spot again, because now I just
<v Speaker 1>I have to go back, and if that thing is
<v Speaker 1>still there, I really want to see it again.
