Speaker 2: Now here's Matt Jones.

00:00:06
Speaker 3: Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio.

00:00:08
Speaker 1: We are here. It's the KS Bar and Grill. It is Wings day, dollar wings all day. You can if you come in, bring your family, bring people you meet on the street. It's a good way to get to know each other. And uh dollar wings. I get seventy cents boneless. It's a great deal. And it doesn't that didn't go off the tongue as well. Seventy cent day.

00:00:28
Speaker 2: It's cheaper though. I think I'm gonna have to stick around having for lunch today.

00:00:31
Speaker 1: Good you should. I gotta teach my class today. Today we are talking about more torts, more torts. Yeah, torts is a two day.

00:00:38
Speaker 4: It's two days.

00:00:39
Speaker 1: It is two days worth a torch. You have to understand there's a lot of torts in the world. People are giving other things that they do that Where do you where were you win? Besides nine to eleven, et cetera. Princess died dimes.

00:00:49
Speaker 4: She's probably got to be in our top five list. Well, we forgot.

00:00:52
Speaker 3: About that Berlin wall coming down.

00:00:54
Speaker 4: It's another good one.

00:00:55
Speaker 3: You like that one.

00:00:56
Speaker 4: Yeah, Waco, Waco. Yeah, it's up there with the Oklahoma that he bothered me, both those kind of reallyierd glues. Rodney King, it's another good one.

00:01:05
Speaker 1: That's another good one. January sixth, Yes, there was a sense of like, what's gonna happen with this? You know? That was definitely Uh did you say Reagan bean shot? Yes, you said Reagan bean shot.

00:01:17
Speaker 5: The night they got was another one.

00:01:19
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, when they got ben Laden was broken by the Rock.

00:01:24
Speaker 4: Still one of the craziest things.

00:01:26
Speaker 3: But rock broke the story. Isn't that thatig scoop for the rock?

00:01:30
Speaker 1: You know, wait till, wait, till the miss breaks the next one, there'll be all that'll be.

00:01:36
Speaker 3: That'll be a big day. Do you all have.

00:01:38
Speaker 2: Any like celebrity deaths? Because I can remember everything about the moment I found out Chris Farley died. I could draw a picture of the room right really, of everyone I was with. I remember so vividly. Mike, I don't know why. I mean, I'm just fan.

00:01:51
Speaker 3: But Magic Johnson getting aids. Yeah, I remember that.

00:01:55
Speaker 1: I remember that press conference, and I was a big Magic Johnson fan, and I remember stay in there and just being shocked.

00:02:02
Speaker 4: Michael Jackson dying and you said it's celebrity deaths.

00:02:05
Speaker 3: Kurt Cobain and Tupac.

00:02:07
Speaker 1: Yeah, those are those are ones I think in my generate, especially especially Kurt Cobain, that was very much like that kind of was the age that it hit me that that he had died.

00:02:17
Speaker 3: I think that was a big one. Some people will say.

00:02:20
Speaker 1: Kobe a lot of a lot of yoa Like if Mario was here, I bet he would say.

00:02:25
Speaker 4: We were in Iowa going into that restaurant, did have lunch.

00:02:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember I was in the back of the car and I told you all. I was looking at Twitter like, wait a minute, this can't be right.

00:02:34
Speaker 4: So we all got silent.

00:02:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true that we were. That we were not if I'm not two eight oh twenty two eighty. So before we get back the phones for asking anything, uh Wednesday, let's talk for a second about basketball. Somebody asked me, you know, how's the basketball team been doing? And I realized, we haven't heard a whole whole lot. So last night I made a couple of the of the text and the thing I continue to hear is this team gets along, well, they're gonna play fun and be ready to see a ton of threes. Basically, I'm told this team will be not terrible defensively, but defense will not be.

00:03:13
Speaker 3: You know, They've got like a I think three.

00:03:15
Speaker 1: Or four guys they feel really good about defensively, and a lot of the other guys they may have to cover up a little bit defensively, but they love the amount of points they can score. And they do think they can put a lineup on the floor to get stops, whereas they last year maybe they couldn't. There is a lineup, Drew they can put out there where they feel good defensively. But I was told be ready for it to be fun and be ready. One person told me be ready for it to be smart, meaning this team is going to play a smart level of basketball that fans will enjoy.

00:03:47
Speaker 3: Well.

00:03:47
Speaker 2: Even in the summer practice videos, we saw just how far along they are in detailed much farther than when you're having a bunch of freshmen. They're just still learning how to get together and play. I mean, they were in some very advanced stuff in their first practice. Mentioned to see the starting five because I had one, I thought was it And then, like Jeff Borzello wrote, a story yesterday he put his out and I disagreed with it. He had Crisa as the starting point guard. I kind of thought that's Lamant Butler. But when I see things like that, I wonder if is he completely guessing or does he know something there.

00:04:16
Speaker 3: I think the starting lineup is wide open.

00:04:18
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I.

00:04:20
Speaker 1: Think it is as wide open as we've ever had in terms. I mean with cal you could guess for the guys really in part base just on recruiting, ranking and stuff. I think for this team, the only guy I feel one hundred percent confidence gonna start as Jackson Rods. Beyond that, I could see a lot of different people. If you ask me, okay, who's the second most likely person to start, I would say Lamont Butler. I don't think they brought him in to to come off the bench, but it wouldn't have shocked me if if if Carr was the starter.

00:04:52
Speaker 3: I thought that about Butler.

00:04:53
Speaker 2: But CBS and now ESPN have both projected the five and they didn't have him, And that's maybe wonderings just the blogger guessing to get some content up, or have they actually had conversations. I still think it's gonna be Butler. I feel like kar and Williams are locked in. It's basically what are they gonna do?

00:05:06
Speaker 3: Williams?

00:05:07
Speaker 2: I agree, I think the Guards could be any combination. Really.

00:05:11
Speaker 1: Yeah, Williams is another one, the big guy that You're right, the big guys, Karen Williams.

00:05:16
Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be fun.

00:05:18
Speaker 1: But I think that I can never think of a season in my lifetime where I know less about what's gonna happen uh than this group. I will also go so far as to say, I don't think we've ever had a season where fans know the team less, you know what I mean, Like, like, just go up to an average fan and say, name me the roster.

00:05:39
Speaker 2: Had ever had a completely new roster like this?

00:05:42
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean there's most people. I saw a couple of the players walking.

00:05:47
Speaker 1: Through uh, walking the other day through town, and no one stopped them, no one looked at them, like and I and even me, I was like, is that I know those guys are on the team? Which ones? I mean the one guy Annsley? Alamar would not know him? Yeah, I mean would not if he came in here and said Annsley, party of two.

00:06:11
Speaker 3: I'm not sure I would know.

00:06:12
Speaker 2: It was him, to be honest, I was on campus last week and Trent Noah went by me on a scooter, just blending right in with all the students.

00:06:18
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:06:19
Speaker 1: So that's gonna be interesting, is how this group is like gonna be introducing to them themselves, to the team, almost as to the state is a blank slate.

00:06:27
Speaker 4: And on the other side, they're doing a lot of events together where they're showing up two different events.

00:06:32
Speaker 1: Doing a lot, doing a lot. I give them a lot of credit. And then you know, the Blue White Game is gonna be fascinating this year because it's a memorial, it's gonna be a fundraiser for ni L. You know, I think it's gonna be it's gonna be a different kind of thing. I think it's gonna be probably a higher price ticket than people are used to, but it's also gonna be I think I've heard kind of an interactive event and it's gonna be you know, that's gonna be interesting. I think a lot of people that get to go to that are gonna have a good experience. It's gonna be to man a different kind of year, you know, and I'm I'm excited about it. I think I think Kentucky basketball needed a shot in the army. You know, it needed like a little bit of you know, sometimes you need to make over, right, you need you like need a new haircut. Uh, take a shower, Mike Gun, you might need to look at that like, Yeah, I think that's what.

00:07:18
Speaker 3: We're gonna get.

00:07:19
Speaker 2: We're exactly one month from Big Blue Madness today. I'm excited for that speaking of something that needs a shot in the arm I know it's getting one because the coaching change, but I'm interested to see what Pope, if they're put any new spins on Big Blue Madness and just how everything looks moving forward.

00:07:32
Speaker 3: Earn heart Death another good one.

00:07:35
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a good one.

00:07:36
Speaker 1: That's what the rest of dinner. That's one that hit me really powerful. It was heart death, Earnhart's death, the way it happened and all that. That's one that definitely, Yeah, that's one that definitely.

00:07:47
Speaker 4: That's when NASCAR was still the king, like lead story a lot of times.

00:07:53
Speaker 1: Hundred Yeah, I mean that that We've talked about that many times. But that was a movie. The way all that went out with son and his and his friend. It's just who's up next? Ship Mark Anthony, Mark Anthony, how are you?

00:08:07
Speaker 6: I'm good, Matthew Andrews Shannon, Hey, uh, you know, fellas, I was in grade school when Kennedy was killed, So that might be the oldest memory anybody's got present.

00:08:18
Speaker 1: I think there are people who there's my uh. Larry says he remembers hearing radio broadcasts as a kid, you.

00:08:29
Speaker 3: Know, talking about like Hitler.

00:08:31
Speaker 1: Wow, you know so, I mean so, so you're not the oldest, Mark Anthony. Are there are people older than Kennedy? The Kennedy's assassination out there.

00:08:42
Speaker 6: Hey, I'm glad. You know. I remember hearing Matthew from people who played against Pope teams last year that he ran an offense that was hard to defend and it had movement, it had.

00:08:55
Speaker 1: Screens, it had structure.

00:08:58
Speaker 6: And I think that's gonna be something I'm gonna be glad to see, because cal he did like concepts, not so much structure. And I think there were a lot of times, and especially the kids he recruited were young and could have used a little more detail in what he wanted him to do, and he didn't give to him. And as far as the old line, matt what your fellows said about it. You know, I admit I haven't seen every football game, but of the ones I've seen, that was the worst buck kick and I've ever seen an offensive line take and pretty bad.

00:09:31
Speaker 3: It was pretty bad.

00:09:32
Speaker 4: What what are we going to do about it?

00:09:34
Speaker 3: We got there? I don't know.

00:09:36
Speaker 1: I don't know.

00:09:36
Speaker 3: I appreciate the call.

00:09:38
Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know what you do when you just get destroyed, you know, in and out to his first point about about coaches, I cannot remember who the coach was that said it Drew, but there was a big twelve coach last.

00:09:50
Speaker 3: Year that after that.

00:09:52
Speaker 1: There is a video out there where he says something like GUARDI Mark Pope's teams are is the hardest thing to do things. Kelvin Samson. That's exactly who were good to Kelvin Samson. Yes, he said, you just cannot prepare for Pope's teams because they do stuff that no one else does.

00:10:12
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, that's a guy one of the best coaches in the country, complained about what he had to do to get ready for playing Mark Pope and on the point about the offensive line that he made. Nick Rouse tweeted last night that on twenty two dropbacks the quarterback was pressured fifteen times.

00:10:25
Speaker 1: That's pretty fifteen fifteen of twenty two. So yeah, So again, if you're trying to judge vandergriff if he was pressured fifteen.

00:10:34
Speaker 3: Of twenty two times, than just what look at the other seven?

00:10:38
Speaker 1: You know, I mean he doesn't didn't have a lot of opportunities to play normal. Back to what I'm saying about Pope. You know, Nate Oats, for instance, plays analytically. They get up and down the court, but their offense is not complicated. Okay, they they run and it's it's been successful, but it's not complicated. I think you're gonna see the level of shooting that Oates does, but a more complicate offense in getting the shots.

00:11:02
Speaker 4: It's it's gotta be when you know, one of his first press conferences, he talked about using algorithms and things that he does offensively that he's he's putting in right now because he knows the players need this much time to kind of pick it up, where as Coal wouldn't even put stuff into like December. Did you say algorithms, Yeah, Pope talks about algorithms with his offense.

00:11:23
Speaker 3: Oh really, what does he say?

00:11:24
Speaker 4: I don't know. He just used the word algorithm.

00:11:26
Speaker 3: Huh, what does he mean?

00:11:28
Speaker 1: Though?

00:11:28
Speaker 4: I don't know. It's way above my pay grade, but.

00:11:31
Speaker 3: I'm not sure what algorithm means in that context.

00:11:35
Speaker 4: I don't know.

00:11:36
Speaker 2: Maybe he gets on TikTok to look at film. Okay, what algorithm he gets in? Well, i'd be interested that.

00:11:41
Speaker 1: Maybe we'll ask him that the next time he's on, because when he's I don't know what that means in that context.

00:11:46
Speaker 2: One thing he does and I'm gonna sound like cal is uh, I'm gonna use the player empowerment phrase, but like, they make a lot of plays based on what's in front of them, and they're so far along that you know, it's it's a little more free flowing and players are making decisions in the moment, and a lot of that comes with building that chemistry this early on. That's why they look so advanced in those practices. We've already seen Who's up next?

00:12:06
Speaker 6: Bob and Jamestown.

00:12:08
Speaker 1: Bob and Jamestown eight five, nine, two eighth, twenty two eighty seven.

00:12:11
Speaker 3: What you got, Matt? Are you a fan of Red Lobster?

00:12:15
Speaker 4: They've just emerged from bankruptcy. The Cheddar may biscuits have been saved.

00:12:20
Speaker 3: And when you go to that.

00:12:21
Speaker 1: Mint tomorrow and bowling green, red lobsters right next door.

00:12:25
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not gonna know red lobster. But but but hear that.

00:12:30
Speaker 6: There's a waitress there named Amy that's been there two years.

00:12:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know why you know that? What what is your what's your question?

00:12:39
Speaker 5: Well?

00:12:39
Speaker 3: I was wondering if you if you like red lobster, and oh if we like red lobster? Okay, gotcha? All right, Well they're back. I appreciate it.

00:12:46
Speaker 4: I't either.

00:12:47
Speaker 3: It's an interesting question from Bob and Jamestown. Do you like red lobster? I do.

00:12:51
Speaker 1: I haven't been in years, but the biscuits we've talked about excellent, excellent stuff.

00:12:56
Speaker 3: Shannon.

00:12:57
Speaker 2: The last time I went to red Lobster when Matt took us out to that fancy dinner.

00:13:01
Speaker 1: That's right, yeah tonight, like, oh, where are we going? Lobster?

00:13:06
Speaker 3: Red lobster?

00:13:08
Speaker 2: In his defense, the shrimp was endless that night.

00:13:10
Speaker 3: It was, and we had them what person rights?

00:13:12
Speaker 1: Mattuh, do you do your ESPN show from home or from ESPN? Maybe you don't follow what you're saying and you like working from home. I would rather. There is no doubt that I would do a better show on ESPN if I was there, There's no doubt. I mean, like Myron and I have learned how to do it, but it was better when we were together. And that's why for the big shows, the super Bowl, the NCAA Tournament, they fly us there, right, Yeah, because it is shows are better if you're in the same place. Go watch the shows that they have that are daily. Notice what's happening. They're all in the same place, and they're all in studio. I mean like here, we're not in studio, but we're all in the same place except Shannon, And it would be a better show if Shannon was here too. It just can't work technically like that.

00:14:05
Speaker 4: Tomorrow though, we'll all be together.

00:14:07
Speaker 1: Tomorrow, we'll all be together. But I'm yeah, I'm a big believer. I think radio is actually a perfect example of what I'm talking about. You know, at ESPN we get together for twenty minutes before the show via zoom and plan. If I worked at ESPN full time and we came in, they spend an hour or two before the show in there. Then you get to know the people in the office which then you have better chemistry with so when you bring them on, get you know each other, like all that would be better. I understand it's a trade off, Like there's value to people being able to see their kids, and I'm not saying that, but if you're just talking from a work perspective, it is of course better to be in office than it is to be.

00:14:48
Speaker 3: At home for the efficiency of the office.

00:14:51
Speaker 4: Well, for us, we able us to feed off each other when we had to do it separately during COVID. There's a little awkward at times.

00:14:57
Speaker 1: It's much much harder to do this stuff.

00:15:00
Speaker 3: Yeah, it just is. Yep. Tell me about Stockton Stockton Mortgage.

00:15:04
Speaker 4: You know, if you're thinking about buying a new home, you thinking about building a new home, thinking about adding on to your home, Stockton Mortgage should be the first proof people that you call. They're easy to work with, they're all over the state, they're growing, They're in like probably every community in this entire state by now. If not, they're going to be there pretty soon. So give them a try. Stockton dot Com NMLS A two five nine equal housing lender.

00:15:22
Speaker 1: If I'm nine twenty two eighty seven, is ask anything Wednesday.

00:15:26
Speaker 3: A couple open lines. We'll take a break, be right back. It's KIOSR. Welcome back, take E Sports Radio.

00:15:33
Speaker 1: It's Mark Pope and Alvin Brooks's birthday today, which is also September eleventh. There's a woman here who also is birthday September eleventh. She said she actually celebrates it the day before the day after usually, but I didn't know Mark Pope's birthday was September.

00:15:47
Speaker 4: Ele any of the you, I think it is kind of awkward to have your birthday on today, so you can need to pick the day before day after to go out for eat with your family and celebrate a little bit.

00:15:56
Speaker 1: One person writing to Matt, your opinion on work from home is outdated. Anyone doing things you mentioned at the physical location could do it from home. You just don't realize that radio show is different from other people's jobs.

00:16:07
Speaker 2: Sounds like somebody working from home.

00:16:09
Speaker 3: To me, it sounds like somebody likes to work from home.

00:16:11
Speaker 1: I understand, But like folks like at lunch here, we always have a lot of people who do construction or something like that. They don't get the option of working from home. I mean, it is a very white collar job thing to be like work from home. Most people don't. I mean people at work at this restaurant, they don't get to work from home like work from home is very much a and I had a white collar job. I was a lawyer for eight years. If you had told me I could work from home, I would not have been as productive as I was in that office. When I knew a lawyer could come in there and make sure that I was doing that, I was doing my thing.

00:16:44
Speaker 3: I mean, I hold you accountable. Yeah. Now, is it more fun or not fun? It's not the word, But is it? Is it more convenient for the employee?

00:16:54
Speaker 1: Sure it is. But I'm just saying you're not gonna be Is that nobody can look at me in the eye and say that if they're that they are more productive. I won't say nobody. There may be people who are. The vast majority of people are not going to be more productive from home than they are in an office.

00:17:09
Speaker 2: It'll take a certain level of discipline. Maybe some people have.

00:17:13
Speaker 1: You better have a lot of Discis you're right self disciplined, I'll give it. When I wrote my book, I got to the point that I couldn't make myself finish it. So I made myself go into the Simon and Schuster office every day from nine to six because it made me work on it. If I was at home, which at the time was in New York at my ex girlfriend's house, I.

00:17:33
Speaker 3: Would get distracted.

00:17:34
Speaker 1: Sure Mayberry would start yapping or whatever, and I would get distracted. But when I went made myself go downtown, go to that Simon and Schuster building, walk inside, blah blah blah.

00:17:44
Speaker 3: I drew was just more productive.

00:17:45
Speaker 2: Now there are some office settings where I wonder how anyone works, like these places with open cubicles and there's just a bunch of people and.

00:17:51
Speaker 3: Everyone's around that would be there.

00:17:53
Speaker 2: There are scenarios where I think being at home you'd be more productive. But there's a lot of distractions when you're at home.

00:17:58
Speaker 1: Ryan the Shader Sanders said in defending himself from the game Saturday said, was talked to mention some defensive player on Nebraska and go did you ever see our guys put a hand on him at all? Basically completely through his offensive line under the bus something, for instance, brought Vandergrift didn't do, whereas I'm sure he could have. The Colorado thing is about to like completely implode, and it's gonna be It's gonna be something to watch.

00:18:31
Speaker 2: They play Colorado State this weekend. Maybe it implodes U Saturday.

00:18:34
Speaker 4: Not good for team camaraderie. They're in the locker room when they're you're throwing out your offensive line under the bus. You know, usually you're the quarterback, you're the first people to kind of defer, you know, right away. So I was doing something like that. Sure, I wonder it's gonna be an interesting week of practice.

00:18:47
Speaker 2: It just feels like they're a three man team with Hunter Sanders and Horne the receiver. Other Sanders is hurt now, and we're just waiting for them to go to the NFL. And I expect Dion will step away from the job and latch onto whatever they're doing.

00:19:00
Speaker 3: Yeah, they do.

00:19:01
Speaker 1: You any who's more likely to be the coach of their program next year, Mark Stoops or deonzal Steps.

00:19:08
Speaker 2: I can't imagine Dion will stay to coach Colorado once his son's gone.

00:19:12
Speaker 4: Because, yeah, like you said, they're kind of imploding. They're not able to end up winning four games last year. They may not even get to four this year. So it's getting bad.

00:19:18
Speaker 3: Who's up next?

00:19:19
Speaker 4: Larry, Larry, How are.

00:19:21
Speaker 3: You, Larry?

00:19:22
Speaker 7: I'm good, guys. Hey, I'm taking a take on this football. I really think Kentucky's will have a big game this weekend. I think that we've got a lot of talent on this team, and I think they got caught up maybe looking ahead at Georgia in the game day and then they panic when it didn't go their way. There's a I look for him to go back to the just run the ball, just like we used to play Georgia, a low scoring game in the trenches and just fighting it out. Georgia's first time on the road this year, you know they're over confidence. So I really look for that game that Kentucky all time plays against Georgia to happen this Saturday.

00:19:59
Speaker 1: Well, let's talk about that. Let's see what would happen if I appreciate call. Let's take the hypothetical Kentucky plays Georgia's Saturday, they lose twenty to fourteen, and they had the ball at the end with a chance to drive down. Let's say that game occurs like that. Do you come out of there? Does this fan base come out of there feeling good? Because I mean I think Kentucky could play a perfect game Saturday and still lose. So do you if that were to happen, do you think people would kind of buy back in at that point?

00:20:29
Speaker 4: I would, I can answer for myself. I would. If they showed me they're gonna come show up and compete against the best team in the country and playing within a touchdown, I absolutely feel a lot better about how the rest of the season is gonna play out.

00:20:40
Speaker 2: Yeah, I would get some of my excitement back. I don't know if anyone's gonna be all the way in after what happened against South Carolina, but you played Georgia close, which I actually think they're gonna surprise us and play pretty well. Unfortunately, Georgia Kentucky's not gonna win. But the last two times George was here, they scored like fourteen and sixteen points. So it won't shock me if that it shows up and kind of holds the Bulldogs back from making a complete blowout.

00:21:04
Speaker 1: Okay, so what if it's twenty seven to ten, which is maybe where we would still cover? Okay, still cover, still do better than people thought, but you still lost by seventeen, which, by the way, I think that is the most likely result is we're gonna get a score like that where I don't think people really know what to think about it.

00:21:25
Speaker 2: I think we're headed that way too.

00:21:26
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I would if they compete, I still are. I'm gonna look at it. Are you competing? Not having ten penalties in one half? You know, things like that to show me that you're you came to play. You know, you didn't show up and going half ass going through you show up, compete against Georgia.

00:21:41
Speaker 1: I love as we talked about them fade this which the new episodes out if you want to hear.

00:21:46
Speaker 3: It, Drew.

00:21:47
Speaker 1: I love lsu covering against South Carolina and US covering against Georgia because I don't think we are as bad or they are as good as it looked. But you can still play good and lose by seventeen to Georgia.

00:21:59
Speaker 3: That's how good they are.

00:22:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, on last Saturday, it was so bad just playing good. It's gonna take more than that. The problem with the schedule is, Okay, if you demolish Ohio, that doesn't prove anything here. You go to Old Miss that's gonna be a hard game to make a good case. So it could be another month before we really have any idea what.

00:22:13
Speaker 1: Control Todd mcshag on that same Ryan Russeillo show, he goes, who's your top five teams in the country. He said, one Georgia, two Texas, three Ohio, s Day, four Tennessee five Old Miss We got we play four four of those five. So that's what's the hit. We'll take a break, be right back. See it's Kentucky Sports Radio.

00:22:31
Speaker 5: TJ Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.

00:22:34
Speaker 1: He'll make them pay. Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.

00:22:40
Speaker 3: Welcome back Turkey Sports Radio.

00:22:42
Speaker 1: Here at ks Bar and Grill Wings Day, Dollar Wings all Day.

00:22:46
Speaker 3: We got me, Ryan and Drew.

00:22:50
Speaker 1: Tomorrow we are at the Mint in Bowling Green, the Grand Opening. I have to place another ceremonial first, bet so and.

00:23:00
Speaker 4: You did it last year we were down in wind Kentucky to win the national championship. That didn't didn't out. What do you got gonna go on for tomorrow?

00:23:08
Speaker 1: Probably not gonna do Kentucky to win the national championship, I think, and I don't really want to do Kentucky to cover against Georgia. So I'll probably do Kentucky to beat Louisville at the end of the year.

00:23:16
Speaker 4: I like that. I like that, it's a good pick.

00:23:18
Speaker 1: I think I'll do that one. I feel like that's one that that I can do and feel pretty good about.

00:23:24
Speaker 2: You could bet on a on a Tuddy against Georgia.

00:23:27
Speaker 3: Maybe I'll bet at Tuddy.

00:23:28
Speaker 2: I'm big at Tudd plus three seventy.

00:23:32
Speaker 3: Dane Tuddy.

00:23:33
Speaker 2: Demmy's like plus two hundred something.

00:23:35
Speaker 3: You know youry.

00:23:36
Speaker 1: Then Friday, we're at Country Boy. A lot of stuff going on. There's like gonna be Humane Society out there, the UK women's soccer team.

00:23:44
Speaker 3: We're gonna be out.

00:23:45
Speaker 1: There, so come see us before Mario and I will be taking off from there and heading h towards the Green Bay pregame show on Saturday. These guys will be here. I'll be on the show for a good part of it, but these guys will all be here at the bar for all the pregame festivities, but off to Green Bay with Mario. So that should be a lot of fun. If I'm not twenty two eighty seven one person rights Matt, there's a lot of people here defending their working from home and I'm not gonna argue that that you if you, if you, if you like it and you say you're more productive, I will. I mean, I'm not gonna say you're not. That's maybe most of you, some of you, most of you are, But I still would say in general people people are not.

00:24:28
Speaker 3: But that's okay. But I'll tell you one more thing.

00:24:30
Speaker 1: I forgot to say this about why I'm an advocate of working in an office. It's not just about productivity. We are social beings. We as humans are social beings, and I worry that humans are becoming more and more isolated. They live in their own little worlds, their own little bubbles. Then you get to online, you can get even more in your own little bubble. You can think that the way you see the world is the only way to see the world. It shows up in politics, but also just shows up in life, like you can just be somebody who only likes you know, World of Warcraft or is that a game? Uh yeah, yeah, Like you can and then you just your whole world is filtered through that. Offices require social You have to deal with people that.

00:25:16
Speaker 3: Are different than you, and I think there's positivity to that.

00:25:20
Speaker 2: I've been working from home for almost fifteen years now. Now I'll do the show every day. I get out more. Do you get the only very much?

00:25:26
Speaker 3: So.

00:25:26
Speaker 2: I mean I get to play where I'll go to a coffee shop or a restaurant just to have some kind of human reaction. Now it's nice to wake up not have a commute, or you can work in your pajamas, but that, over and over it does get to you. I mean you go days up talking a full day without even speaking.

00:25:41
Speaker 1: I think a lot of people will get will stay in better physical health by going out, Like if you're just by yourself every single day. I mean when when COVID hit, I'm not the only thing I put on a lot of weight. I think other people did it like you, just you almost you can't help it. So I do also think there's a benefit. And then there's the economic benefit, which is a lot of our cities, the downtown's are sitting empty.

00:26:03
Speaker 3: Oh yeah, because the office space. And that's not good. That's not good. I mean we have a lot of that Louisville as well.

00:26:10
Speaker 1: And there are other part reasons for that, but a lot of it is people are working from home and these downtown office spaces are going going empty. I mean New York has filled back up, but a lot of cities haven't.

00:26:21
Speaker 3: And that's a n negg.

00:26:23
Speaker 4: I think that the social impact you're talking about, because when you work from home, you're sending an email, you're sending a text, You're not talking to people. You know, that's important. And I have a friend that she works from home because the corporate offices are out of town. But they encourage her once a week to go to, like Drew said, a restaurant, a bar, a library, somewhere to get out once a week. They require it.

00:26:44
Speaker 1: Can I give you the who does each show?

00:26:49
Speaker 3: Yeah?

00:26:50
Speaker 1: Amber phil Pott and Bill Bryant, Larry Smith and Megan Mannering.

00:26:55
Speaker 4: That's right, that's her name.

00:26:56
Speaker 3: TVQ is John Lingren and sky Yanson.

00:27:00
Speaker 4: No, it's not.

00:27:01
Speaker 3: Nobody knows who I know people are.

00:27:05
Speaker 1: And then DK Wise, Marvin Bartlett and Andrea Walker.

00:27:08
Speaker 4: Marvin's been doing it, yeah from day one, thirty years, and and Andrew is a local.

00:27:13
Speaker 3: She's from I think, Yeah, who's up next? Let's go to Sean Sean.

00:27:19
Speaker 1: We didn't get the TVQ If anybody knows, I'd love to take that. I know Pakoro's on it, but go ahead show.

00:27:25
Speaker 8: Hey, guys, I appreciate you taking my call. I want to transition back to basketball real quick. Matt was fortunate to play in the late nineties for one of the end state universities, and I played for a very tactical coach. I'm not sure our fan base, at least those under the age of twenty five or thirty, have had the opportunity to witness a tactical game coach by tactical coach, and I think I think that's a big that's a big deal because we're gonna We're gonna see somebody who can who can make in game changes, run out of bounds plays, be able to adjust to the other team if for guys going off, they may he may actually switch defensive stay like that that our young fans have never seen, and that's very exciting.

00:28:05
Speaker 1: I think you're exactly right about that, and I appreciate the call. I mean, Cal had many many strengths, but I wouldn't call him a master tactician. And I think that you will see tactical coaching. I think that's a really good point. You're gonna see plays run. I also think when a play succeeds Mark Pope will tell you what he did. He won't go, do you see what I did? He may guess what I did, Tom what I do like he's like, he'll actually tell you and show you. And you're right. For a lot of our younger fans, they haven't seen that. Now they have seen athleticism where dudes can just do things that are like wow.

00:28:43
Speaker 3: We might not see as much of that, right, but we.

00:28:45
Speaker 1: Probably will see a lot of To put it in a different way, get ready for a lot more Antonio Reeves and a lot less Rob Dillinghams. That's I mean, that's probably what we're looking at over the next few year.

00:29:00
Speaker 3: Do you agree with that?

00:29:01
Speaker 4: I absolutely agree with that. Yeah, you're we're gonna see things that. Like the caller said that the way the basketball is changing, and we have not seen here are our offense always been my guy's better than your guy. My guy's gonna go out and beat your guy one on one.

00:29:14
Speaker 1: I'm gonna set up my guy to succeed. That's the way Cal looked at it. It'll be fair to him. This will be more. You got a good guy. I got a good guy. I'm gonna outthink you're guy.

00:29:25
Speaker 2: Yes, right, I'm excited to see the space on the court. Williams, who's gonna start at center, is almost like a point guard. He's not even in the paint. He kind of runs things from the top of the key and you guys are cutting. You know, we had obvious complaints with cal having too many bigs and severe and guys driving to the lane, hitting the trees. There's gonna be a lot of empty space in the way Pope runs is offense.

00:29:45
Speaker 1: To use an NBA term, We're gonna again, We're not gonna have anybody nearly as good as this guy, but we're gonna be watching the Nuggets, right. Jokics doesn't overwhelm people. Yokic's out think people and is amazingly talented, but he wins by outthinking people.

00:30:06
Speaker 3: We're gonna see a lot of that. You know.

00:30:08
Speaker 1: One of things that's made Lebron so good is he's both the physical specimen and he outthinks people. Huh, That's what makes him such an amazing player. You're gonna see a college version of people trying I think, to to outthink and then and then beat him, which is just gonna be very different than what we're used to.

00:30:26
Speaker 3: Who's next lucky, lucky. How are you lucky?

00:30:30
Speaker 9: Thanks? Thank call guys.

00:30:31
Speaker 10: Uh got a hypothetical I've been pondering on for a while, Uh Georgia big Z's debut game last year. Hypothetically, let's say you got a leg Andrew in the second half, missed the entire season, Yeah, which somebody took a chance on him, and he would he gone top ten in.

00:30:52
Speaker 3: A draft or Oh, that's a great question. That's a great question.

00:30:55
Speaker 1: If it Let's say, let's say big Z only had the first half. Let's not use a injury because that scares people. But let's say then he broke his hated okay, his non shooting hated and so he's out for the rest of the year, and in the he gets hurt in the second half of the Georgia game.

00:31:12
Speaker 3: After that first half, I.

00:31:14
Speaker 1: Think he goes in the first round of the draft, right, I really do. I think he probably does.

00:31:18
Speaker 4: I don't think there's any doubt he was the biggest story in college basketball after that day. If he had walked away never played again, he is absolutely I think.

00:31:26
Speaker 1: I mean, if you remember in the mock drafts after the Georgia game, he was in the top fifteen in some people's Mott drafts after that Georgia game.

00:31:33
Speaker 3: So yeah, I think he would.

00:31:34
Speaker 2: I said that night that if he were looking out for himself, he would have walked out of that rep erna at halftime and not looked back and said that was my college basketball.

00:31:43
Speaker 3: He would have become like a legendary figure. He'd have been like a myth.

00:31:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, if big Z was looking out for big Z at halftime, he would have walked straight to his car and not come back.

00:31:54
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:31:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, a leg injury, you know that can make people worried. But if he had like a non shooting wrist injury sure in that second half and didn't play the rest of the year, he is a first round draft pick.

00:32:06
Speaker 3: I would think that's almost certain. Who's next?

00:32:08
Speaker 7: Tom?

00:32:09
Speaker 3: Tom, go ahead, Tom?

00:32:14
Speaker 6: Uh?

00:32:15
Speaker 9: Did I hear you say that you all were going to be in Bowling Green tomorrow?

00:32:19
Speaker 3: We are. We are at the New Mint Casino in Bowling Green.

00:32:25
Speaker 9: Okay, So uh, if you have time at four o'clock tomorrow, Ohio University of Bowling Green girls play a soccer game and you get to watch my granddaughter and a merchant play, which she's a sophomore.

00:32:40
Speaker 3: Is that didn't we meet? Was that who we met?

00:32:42
Speaker 4: Last year?

00:32:42
Speaker 1: I played for Ohio? Yeah, she came to our show last year. Yeah, she was very nice. Yeah, we were in Athens. We were in Athens, Ohio. If you remember you? Oh, yes, yes, yeah, No, I mean wait, I won't be able to do that. But but but I hope, I hope you Are you going to go see her?

00:33:00
Speaker 9: Well, that's I'm not going to be up to. I've I've got other grand I've got a baby shit by other grand notes. But my question is I'm a big I was always a big Mark Stoops fan. So, uh, do you think that the Baemer thing? You think he's getting out coached? Or do you think that South Carolina has better talent?

00:33:25
Speaker 1: Yes, well, I don't know if they have better talent. I appreciate the call. I think they have better talent and a couple positions drew. But I think it is completely fair to say that at least in the last two years, Stoops has been out coached. The third year, when the quarterback, Well Levis got hurt, that's a little different.

00:33:39
Speaker 3: But the last two years, I think that's fair to say. I agree.

00:33:41
Speaker 2: I mean three years ago we ran that reverse on the first play and fumbled it and the game was over at that point. Really, but I Beemer has his number. We don't want admit it. He's a dork and you know, Kentucky fans really don't like him. But the guys will stoops twice straight up for sure and three times in a row.

00:33:57
Speaker 3: Hey if I'm nine, two eight, twenty two eighty seven.

00:33:59
Speaker 1: Club Blue has an exciting list of events for members this season. Before every home football game, you can visit their booth at Gay One next to Catwalk. There'll be UK players there. 00:35:05
Speaker 3: A lot of people getting it on.

00:35:06
Speaker 1: Well maybe not a lot, but there were two nice lunch crowd here Ks Bar and Grill Dollar Wings all day and night, so come on out. We got them until the end of the evening. Tomorrow. I'll announce it on the show. But I'm gonna do another like Uncle Matt thing tomorrow for people.

00:35:22
Speaker 4: Oh that was a good one the first time.

00:35:24
Speaker 1: Very successful, too successful, So I'm still gonna do it, but I'm gonna try to make it maybe you know, but I'm gonna do another one because I'm feeling I'm feeling generous. We lost the game Saturday, so if you, if you're a student, may also do it for somebody. We're gonna do one more thing for student. Then we're gonna do it for like the veterans. Do something and then make it like where we hit all groups except people who work from home.

00:35:48
Speaker 3: They're the only ones that don't. I'm just kidding you.

00:35:51
Speaker 1: Good football game tomorrow soon. Yeah, it's what Bill's Dolphins, which is good. I looked at the thirties night games. There's a lot that aren't good, but Bill's Dolphins is a good one. And uh, that's that's tomorrow night. If I'm not twenty twenty seven. What person writes this question is for Matt and Shannon, I know you too, really like the Foo Fighters, were you upset that Dave grow admitted to having a love child? Didn't even see this news?

00:36:18
Speaker 4: When did that come out?

00:36:19
Speaker 1: Yeah, well, clearly you're not upset, You're not well, No, he said it yesterday. Are he and his wife getting divorced or something or they're separated?

00:36:27
Speaker 4: No idea that I don't know. But he just admitted.

00:36:30
Speaker 3: He just admitted he has I mean, he's a rock star.

00:36:33
Speaker 2: I mean, it happens all the time.

00:36:34
Speaker 1: I'm mad at him. I mean, I you know what am I gonna do? Yell at him? I mean I I I think people worry way too much. It's about what the public thing, like the singers and all that, like, like what they care, Like you like their music, you're not worried about them as human beings at least I'm not.

00:36:56
Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't.

00:36:57
Speaker 1: I mean, I don't you know, if I and listen to the music of like politics of singers who like different politicians and me, my whole country music world would basically go away. Yeah, I mean, I love Travis Tritt, I just don't read his Twitter a lot, right So if if for Dave Grohl, I mean that stinks for whatever. But you know, I mean, I'm not gonna be mad. Where's and all that? Yeah, you gotta love child. I can't listen to food fighters. That's everybody on Twitter right now.

00:37:30
Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know if I would mock it, but I'm just saying, you.

00:37:32
Speaker 4: Talk about the Michael Jackson stuff.

00:37:35
Speaker 3: I'm still that's a little tougher though.

00:37:38
Speaker 1: The Michael Jackson and the R Kelly like, that's a little harder because that's a whole nother thing.

00:37:43
Speaker 2: I've definitely dialed back the R Kelly Jam soundtrack.

00:37:47
Speaker 1: R Kelly's harder, Like, I will admit when when when Man in the Mirror comes on, I'm not gonna act like I don't like it. It's hard to off remixed to Ignition is tougher now. But if it's a remix, though, I feel like that's different.

00:38:03
Speaker 2: It's not the original.

00:38:04
Speaker 4: That's good.

00:38:05
Speaker 1: Point. Yeah, it's a Reriginal's not good. I don't We're gonna go back to phones first, so I don't end the show with this. Court physical therapy. If you need physical therapy, Ryan, you need it.

00:38:13
Speaker 4: Court physical therapy was great to me.

00:38:15
Speaker 3: How did it go?

00:38:16
Speaker 4: They heard us talking about on the radio. They got me in that day and how to go?

00:38:19
Speaker 1: Great?

00:38:20
Speaker 3: You feel better?

00:38:21
Speaker 4: I feel one hundred.

00:38:22
Speaker 3: Now you're no vertigo.

00:38:23
Speaker 4: No vertigo, don't even need a referral, right, don't even need a referral?

00:38:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. Take they take most insurance.

00:38:29
Speaker 1: They do take most insurance. That's a court dot com. That's KRT dot com. Seventy locations around the state with court dot Com. Who's up next, Kyle, Kyle? Go ahead, Kyle.

00:38:40
Speaker 6: Hey, what's going on?

00:38:41
Speaker 7: Guys?

00:38:42
Speaker 1: Uh?

00:38:42
Speaker 3: Not much?

00:38:43
Speaker 4: So?

00:38:45
Speaker 5: Uh So, y'all were talking about Trump's comments on people eating dog and cats. I have actually had to dopportunity to try a dog. Uh So? I was curious, Ohio, No, I was I was in some forid country and it's like it's something they do. They eat dog there, they're like pestes.

00:39:08
Speaker 3: So you did you know? Did you know that's what you were eating?

00:39:13
Speaker 8: Oh?

00:39:13
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah I knew. I'm a chef, so I like to try stuff. Oh oh, I was given the opportunity and I ate it. So I was wondering, it's given the opportunity, how many of you all would try a dog?

00:39:25
Speaker 3: Not me?

00:39:26
Speaker 4: Not me, No, not even think about it?

00:39:29
Speaker 3: No, what about you?

00:39:30
Speaker 1: Drew appreciate that this doesn't ask anything that is anything.

00:39:37
Speaker 2: I'll eat anything, especially if I'm another country and it's something they do. I'd try it. But I think I would draw the line of the dog just because I like dogs too much.

00:39:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think I would do it, but if I did it, I certainly wouldn't say it. It is strange how we pick which animals were going to eat. See, that's what I was about to say, though, I do think I think our listeners would say no, I would never do that, Okay, but it is interesting how we as humans just decide we'll eat any animal.

00:40:06
Speaker 3: But then there's a couple that like, you're a bad person if.

00:40:09
Speaker 1: You do get dogs and cats.

00:40:12
Speaker 3: Dogs and cats and horses. In Kentucky people are like that, but like.

00:40:17
Speaker 1: Cows and chickens, like a whole bar about it, right, And it's really just we've just decided this one is different than this one. With that said, I'm a part of society, so I guess I agree.

00:40:31
Speaker 3: But you know, like Jake, you said, if I go to.

00:40:34
Speaker 1: A foreign country and they serve me, I don't know, pick a rhino. I'm probably gonna eat the rhino. But it feels weird when that guy said he did it with something.

00:40:45
Speaker 3: You know, I'm with you.

00:40:46
Speaker 2: I think I would eat every animal, butter dog would, So you would eat a cat given the circumstances. I hate cats. I mean, if I'm somewhere where other people are eating it and it's served and it's like a delicacy, I would try it. I'm not just gonna go are grabbing animals off.

00:41:01
Speaker 1: And I watched you all when he said that, and you had some some.

00:41:05
Speaker 2: I like dogs, I like the Good Boys. Can he the dog?

00:41:08
Speaker 1: Well, I didn't expect this to I didn't expect this to be how we ended the show.

00:41:12
Speaker 2: Let's just name news anchors.

00:41:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, let's go back to uh, you know, the news anchors tomorrow.
