00:00:02 Speaker 1: Welcome to NFL Daily, where we haven't lost a game in a couple of weeks, trying to keep that streak going. I'm Greg Rosenthal here on stage five. If you're watching us on YouTube, Cynthia Freeland and I'm making our weekly picks against the spread, but on the set of Game Deview, where she's picked a lot of games correct over the last few years. 00:00:25 Speaker 2: But yes, she is. 00:00:26 Speaker 1: Six and oh picking games against the spread over the last two weeks. Are you going to bring that hot streak into the playoffs? 00:00:32 Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, absolutely. Who would want to lose their heater? No one ever. 00:00:37 Speaker 1: We are also going to talk about the firing of Mike McDaniel, because get you a podcast that can do both. We appreciate everyone checking in every week to go with our picks, but let's do. 00:00:47 Speaker 2: A little bit of a news at the end of the show. Perfect too. 00:00:49 Speaker 1: But yes, after that six and oh streak for the last couple of weeks, Cynthia Freeland's numbers are getting better over the course of the season. I also so went three and zero last week, so I bounced back after my first lost out nineteen. So if you're following us, you are doing well and This is where I have gone sideways in the last few years, because there's just less games to pick from, so there's less odds that you have one that you really feel like is a great number. But I do feel good about my playoff picks. I wrote down four games four out, but I'm only going to make three official picks. You get the first overall pick here, and we can have the same. 00:01:31 Speaker 2: Picks if we really want. But why don't you go first? 00:01:33 Speaker 3: Okay, So I'm going to start with the game I'm second most confident with in terms of who the winner is. I think that the New England Patriots. They win by at least three and a half points, so at least four points. I love that the Patriots are getting back on both sides of the ball in the trenches, really integral pieces in Milton Williams and Will Campbell, and I just don't trust or have faith in the Chargers O line. 00:01:56 Speaker 4: For good reason. 00:01:57 Speaker 3: Justin Herbert's been under all of the pressure, been hit more than any other quarterback. We've detailed this at nauseum. It's not great for Justin Herbert in terms of what the situation is. This is a Mike Vrabel defense that has the principles that I think they get Robert Spaaine back to that just stop the types of things that you'd be able to. 00:02:14 Speaker 4: Do under a lot of pressure, meeting quick passes. 00:02:17 Speaker 3: So I'm looking at this one and I'm just thinking, I think the Pats easily win this one. 00:02:21 Speaker 1: The injury report has been great for the Patriots. They're getting Splaine back, most likely at linebacker, which is a really huge addition for. 00:02:29 Speaker 3: The stopping the run. Spolaine is so good stopping the run. 00:02:32 Speaker 1: And even compared to their other linebackers and passes over the middle, which Herbert is great at. Look, they get hair Landry back this week. He's been out four a month. You mentioned Milton Williams, will Campbell, and it is the offense that makes me feel better. 00:02:45 Speaker 2: Maybe it's the the Harbaugh and the fan. I'm afraid you're a fan. 00:02:51 Speaker 4: Of both of these teams, so I have a hard time. 00:02:53 Speaker 1: I am more of a fan of the Patriots and I'm afraid of this Chargers team. 00:02:57 Speaker 2: They also have a good injury in. 00:03:02 Speaker 1: Their left tackle, Jamari Sawyer, who I know he was a backup, but when he played left tackle late in the season, he really improved. Their offensive line. He missed the last few weeks of the season. He is expected to be back, But I'm glad you're taking that. That would not be one of my more confident picks. That to me was maybe the I think that's your heart talking that. Maybe that was my toughest pick of the week. I think the one that just felt clearest to me, And it's how I've done well on these against. 00:03:29 Speaker 2: The spread picks all year. It was a lot of that. 00:03:31 Speaker 1: Thirty five and nineteen was just off of I think this team is going to win, and the numbers like below two and a half or whatever, and it's just picking a winner. I think the Green Bay Packers are going to win. I know you agree with me. I do because we already did game DEVUW and Okay, the vibes what worries me are a little off in Green Bay. They've lost what four straight games here. 00:03:53 Speaker 3: They weren't really trying. Weren't trying the late tune experiment was that's. 00:03:57 Speaker 1: They found ways to lose games that they should have won, including against the Bears. 00:04:01 Speaker 2: But I think you are okay. 00:04:03 Speaker 3: It took an on side kick, Yes, it took over time. It took Malik Willis. I mean, he played well, but it's still not Jordan Love. 00:04:13 Speaker 4: That took like that was like a comedy of errors. 00:04:16 Speaker 2: I agree with you. 00:04:17 Speaker 1: Ultimately, I landed on the fact that I just believe that Green Bay has a better quarterback in Jordan Love. That Jordan Love when he is not pressured, is basically Drake may or Matthew Stafford, like he would be right there in terms of the MVP, and I don't think the Bears are going to be able to pressure the question. I guess with the Packers, and I feel good about them. I think Lafleur is a rare coach that can kind of match Ben Johnson. To me, the coaching matchup in this game is even the head coaches are great, the coordinators are good. 00:04:47 Speaker 2: Okay, where do you think about the coaches? 00:04:50 Speaker 3: Well, you have to remember that there's two sides of the ball, right, So while I know Ben Johnson he's technically responsible for the defense, I don't think he's really navigating the defense. So your time has been a pretty good job. Has he done better than Jeff Hafley. 00:05:03 Speaker 2: I don't know. 00:05:04 Speaker 1: We'll see Jeff Affley since Michael Parson's got hurt. 00:05:07 Speaker 2: You know it has been great. 00:05:08 Speaker 3: Quietly, they've still used simulated pressures. That's how he manufactures some looks that just make things. And Caleb Williams is doing it like very weirdly. Like you don't have nine wins with a sub eight a sub sixty completion percentage, You just don't know other quarterback has more than three such wins this season. I just think they're relying on very high probability things, so meaning interceptions from their defense or turnovers from their defense, and the quarterback not throwing interceptions despite having a despicable completion percentage. WHOA, it's the lowest among qualified quarterbacks. Yes, I'd say that's pretty not good, decidedly un good. 00:05:46 Speaker 1: Look, my head is all about the Packers, and my pick is the Packers here. I do think that the Bear's found a little special sauce all season season, something you can't quite measure. Oh but the fact that the last two weeks they've lost heartbreakers does make me feel a little more confident. Maybe this is a team that's run out of gas. Meanwhile, the Packers, Josh Jacobs should be healthier. Zach Tom literally their best offensive line expected back. 00:06:12 Speaker 2: That's for this game. 00:06:13 Speaker 1: Yeah, so I just think they're a better team, and I think the Green Bay Packers win. So that is my first pick. I know you agreed you can take that as one of your picks. Do you want to or do you want to make a different second pick? 00:06:22 Speaker 4: Well, my second I'll decide if it might be my third pick. 00:06:24 Speaker 3: My second pick, I think the Bills cover the one point spread in Jacksonville. I understand that's going to be a very I think it's going to be a very trendy pick to pick the Jags. They're on a heater. They've won eight straight. This is their ninth, this would be their ninth. I know what happened in twenty seventeen. I watched that game. I remember it. But this is a totally different team. That was a long time ago. I'm looking at the opportunity in this one for Josh Allen to look. 00:06:49 Speaker 4: He's looking at the entire picture. 00:06:50 Speaker 3: He's saying, there is no Patrick Mahomes, there is no Joe Burrow, there is no Lamar Jackson. All of the usual foes are not there. This has to beat it. And yes, he didn't play more than one snap last week. Understood, But when you're looking at what are the different opportunities. What is going to go on the defense. We talk about how bad the defense is. Yes, they are second worst against the run. However they are best against the pass in terms of yards given up per game. 00:07:17 Speaker 4: And I think that, Trevor Lawrence. 00:07:19 Speaker 3: I still think that there are ways to beat this team should you lock down. 00:07:23 Speaker 4: Some of their pass catchers. 00:07:25 Speaker 3: And I'm not again, this one is mostly like a Josh Allen pick. You know that he is by far and away the best quarterback in this matchup, and that really matters. 00:07:33 Speaker 2: You are convincing me. 00:07:34 Speaker 3: And by the way, the people will tell you the Josh Allen stat that like on the road, he's zero and four. 00:07:39 Speaker 4: Three of those were at arrowhead. 00:07:41 Speaker 1: Right, and one of them was one of the greatest quarterback performances of all time, the overtime game. 00:07:48 Speaker 2: I will be convinced until. 00:07:50 Speaker 1: The day I die that the Bills would have won the Super Bowl if they had won that coin flip. 00:07:55 Speaker 2: That the winner of that game. 00:07:58 Speaker 1: Seen a quarterback play any better than that, which is why you've scared me off of the Jags. Okay, if I had to pick all six games, I still would take the Jags plus one and a half. Sure, I wrote down four in the end. Even before you made that case, I was kind of leaning towards dropping the Jags out of it. One of the things Josh Allen said this week scared me, and I'm very susceptible. It scared you to him losing or when it scared. 00:08:25 Speaker 2: Me about the Jags. Kind of like this Jags team. I would like them too. 00:08:31 Speaker 4: I would like forever all of the teams to win, but I. 00:08:33 Speaker 1: Think they're a great team. I think the winner of this game has a real chance to make. 00:08:37 Speaker 2: The super Bowl. 00:08:38 Speaker 1: But Josh Allen talked about that that week off and all the preparation they've been getting ready for the playoffs now for a week and a half, and how Josh Allen went over all the tape with Joe Brady, his offensive coordinator, and how he just recognized I've been trying to play hero ball too much, trying to do too much. There's been a lot of easy move the chain's receptions that I just haven't been taking because I've sort of felt this pressure to be Superman, and I'm going to start taking those And for some reason, the experience that Josh Allen has and just his level of talent. And oh, by the way, like in the playoffs he runs even more. He has the highest success rate of any runner in the He ever is the most yards in the history of the NFL running back or quarterback. He is like him running the balls most successful. In hearing that, I was like, oh, man, I don't know if I can pick against him this week. 00:09:28 Speaker 3: So here's my You know what's funny, So run a pod. It's okay, We're just just between us here on Game deay view. You showed your your argument was about Sean McDermott for something, and I saw you show it. 00:09:40 Speaker 4: Yeah, and yet you picked the Jags. 00:09:43 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:09:44 Speaker 3: Do you think that that? Are you like jinxing it? Because man, I'm not trying to dumb what happens if the Jags win. Are we sitting here next week and having a dual pod again about another coach that's not there that could possibly I mean, I think that's how high the stakes are in this one. I think that's how high the stakes are. 00:09:59 Speaker 2: For sure. You've been someone that I. 00:10:01 Speaker 3: Haven't asked anyone that's not inside of This is just purely one of those things where you're opening a new stadium. 00:10:06 Speaker 4: You have Josh Allen. 00:10:07 Speaker 3: You know this is like, this is your best chance to win, even though it's been a rough year in many other dimensions. 00:10:14 Speaker 1: I agree with you when I've put that out there, and I alluded to it on Twitter. So we're going to get to the Mike McDaniel firing in a minute. But it is crazy that a week ago all the insiders will seeing, well, there might not be that many moves this year because it's not that good of a coaching market. 00:10:31 Speaker 2: It might be like three, four or five teams max. 00:10:35 Speaker 1: We're at eight now because of McDaniel, and it could be up to ten. The rest of the league is watching this weekend because Mike Tommlin could possibly shake loose or just not coach next year. Matt Lafleur could possibly shake loose because it seems like something's going on with the money. 00:10:52 Speaker 2: I don't know. 00:10:53 Speaker 1: And then Sean McDermott in your case, and I mom in that, and all the Bills fans will. 00:10:57 Speaker 2: You should do some research and ask there's no way Terry Pugill was going to do that. You don't know anything about Terry Pogoola. He would never do that. So mcdermoy loves it. I don't know. I think it could happen. 00:11:08 Speaker 4: I think. 00:11:10 Speaker 3: I don't know who like Bill's fan was I love like random Bill's fan for I love Bills fans. But no, I look, I'm not suggesting that it's something he wants to do, but I do think that he would be motivated to do it. 00:11:22 Speaker 4: It depends on how it looks like. It depends on how it looks I don't know. 00:11:25 Speaker 3: And what really you know he loves more is Josh Allen and Josh Allen's far more you know, irreplaces. 00:11:31 Speaker 2: It set off some alarm bells for me. I thought. 00:11:33 Speaker 1: Sean McDermott took a little couple shots maybe at Brandon Bean very subtly in the press conference where he talked about how they didn't have enough active cornerback so Maxwell Harrison had to play all last week and then he got hurt at the end of the game his first round pick because the roster basically doesn't have enough cornerback, so they tried to trade for a guy who retired and okay, that was that was number one. He also kind of pointed out how great Jacoby Myers has been, what a great acquisition. That's been when the Bills might have wanted to compete. 00:12:01 Speaker 4: My shots fire. 00:12:02 Speaker 1: It just feels like something's going on there. So actually I feel good that I'm getting off of the Jags away, even though I can see either way happen. Okay, so that's your second pick, Bills. You took the Pats, I have the Packers. I'll go with a boring pick. This might be your third pick. 00:12:14 Speaker 2: It might not be. 00:12:15 Speaker 1: I will take the Rams minus ten and a half. Mentioned on game they view how what There's two hundred and seventy two games this year, so there's been five hundred and forty four offensive performances and the Rams running game is number one out of those five hundred and forty four in terms of success rate on the ground. When they played the Carolina Panthers, they were in a funk from the fourth quarter of Seattle when they blew the one seed all the way until about the fourth quarter against Arizona. Like they didn't look good against Atlanta and they were trailing Arizona as late as pretty late in the third quarter. Then they turned it around. They had a big time fourth quarter. Everyone's feeling good, and I think this is just like the perfect matchup for them to feel good about themselves. You're going to protect Matthew Stafford. You run the ball to me. The over under team total is about thirty five for the Rams offense. I just don't think the Panthers can keep up in a game like that. 00:13:12 Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going to hop on that one with you. It's rare that my model picks like a cover in a situation with a double digit playoff game. So when it does, I have an eleven point win, I'm going to go with it because I'm typically a little more conservative. 00:13:25 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:13:26 Speaker 1: I wrote down all these numbers, and I don't know what they mean anymore. I think it says second second pressure, like number two in pressure rate, number two like against pressure. Right now, the Rams are like, when they're not pressure, they're the number two offense in the league, whereas the Panthers create some of the amount of pressure, they create the least. And then on the other side, That's what I was thinking about, was that the Rams are actually creating the second most amount of pressure, especially when they don't live they're great, and then the Panthers on the other side, not really a great team when young is getting pressured and it's just like it just. 00:14:02 Speaker 3: Yeah when Bryce was like a missmass Yeah, the interesting part there though. The only thing I do like there is a fun note you can find somewhere where Tommy Tremble just needs to catch two passes. 00:14:12 Speaker 2: Okay, I like that. You like a little Tommy Tremble. 00:14:15 Speaker 4: So random, but I love it. 00:14:16 Speaker 3: Side Yeah, pressure him, what's going to happen you throw a Tommy Tremble. 00:14:20 Speaker 1: Here's my thing with this game. Just don't think that it's the playoffs. Just imagine it's week twelve and that the Rams and I know they lost to the Panthers, but. 00:14:29 Speaker 4: That was week thirteen. They're totally different. 00:14:31 Speaker 1: Just imagine they're playing the Commanders or Washington or the Giants. Because those four teams were the close. The three teams were the closest, somewhere ahead and somewhere behind in total efficiency this year in terms of DVOA. That's the company. I know they're in the playoffs, but that's the company Carolina was keeping. Like the Commanders Miami. 00:14:53 Speaker 4: They didn't even win half their game. 00:14:54 Speaker 1: That's that's the level. Like even then, they're worse than an eight and nine team. I'm sorry, Panthers, I. 00:14:59 Speaker 3: Know we're not being I mean it sounds better and not really. All right, they still made the playoffs. Those people get their playoff check. 00:15:05 Speaker 1: All right, you have your three picks, they're locked in. You have the Bills as a one or one and a half point favorite, no matter, as a three and a half point favorite, and the Rams as a ten ton half point favorite. 00:15:15 Speaker 2: I took the Packers. 00:15:17 Speaker 1: I took the Rams, and I need a third pick, and so I feel good about taking the Texans. 00:15:21 Speaker 2: I know there's a lot of voodoo here. It's Mike Tomlin. 00:15:26 Speaker 1: It's this ridiculous home Monday night football winning streak, which goes back to the nineties. Does spook me a little bit, just because there is something about the Steelers that is greater than the some of their parts. Their defense could ball out, like they have a lot of talented players, and it's a faulty Texans offense. 00:15:45 Speaker 2: But what have we been talking about all season? Book defense? 00:15:48 Speaker 1: I mean, if I'm going to put four to five Texans on my first or second team All Pro list on defense, between Anderson and Hunter and al Shaier and Jalen's one of my. 00:16:00 Speaker 3: Favorite names to these, I'll share here. Azise I'll share here. 00:16:04 Speaker 1: We don't know if Kamari Lassiter is going to play in this scheame, which you're not worried about. 00:16:07 Speaker 2: That worry me a little bit. 00:16:09 Speaker 3: Doesn't worry me. I don't say he doesn't worry. But Derek Stingley still thereat. 00:16:13 Speaker 1: It's going to be a man of conviction ultimately, right, Like I've been seeing this all season, I've been saying, this Steelers team is a little bit of a house of cards, and when the Texans defense is on the field, uh, it should just really be a mismatch. I think this is a potential super Bowl team. I think you like them too. As a dark course, if you're looking at the futures odds that the Texans of kind of the the lower contenders to either win the Super Bowl make the Super Bowl. I think the Texans are are pretty good pick I like it. Okay, Uh, they're the rear time. 00:16:46 Speaker 3: Much to say about that, Yes, I. 00:16:47 Speaker 1: Just think that Houston, look they can they could score on defense, and ultimately, the Texans offense has been good enough that this Steelers defense you saw it last week, been giving up a lot of big plays. Lately, Texans have kind of been big play merchants on offense. So I'm taking the Texans to cover those three points. All right, those are our picks in terms of the spread. Feel I feel good about it. Yeah, if you're kind of keeping track. I think the only game we didn't hit was forty nine Ers Eagles, which does feel like the stay away. 00:17:18 Speaker 2: Game to me, Like I lean Eagles. 00:17:19 Speaker 3: But I don't just I'm staying away from this one in large part because I right now, at the time of this recording, I don't know for sure if Leane Johnson's playing. I also don't know for sure if Trent Williams is playing. And you know me, I like the trenches. If I don't really know what's going on in the trenches, I just don't feel good about it. Plus, I just think Shanahan has some sort of like spell over Jalen Hurts. And there's something weird about this game. I mean, remember brock Berdy, like his like his arm fell off, and. 00:17:46 Speaker 2: Like that was unfortunate. 00:17:47 Speaker 4: That was unfortunate, but something happens in this one. 00:17:50 Speaker 1: It was the regular season. Using that test, I would probably actually just take the points. But that's why it's a stay away to me, because I don't trust this four defense at all, correct, and yet I don't really trust the Eagle as a like a heavy favorite. 00:18:01 Speaker 2: So just stay away, forget it. No, absolutely no, let's talk about Mike McDaniel. Let's do it. 00:18:09 Speaker 1: So since we last recorded a NFL Daily Show, Mike McDaniel has been fired by the Miami Dolphins. I think the timing of it happening late in the week is as interesting as the fact that it happened at all. What was your reaction kind of what's your takeaway of how this Mike McDaniel firing went down. 00:18:30 Speaker 3: I think that mister Ross called is one of those calls on John Harbaugh. Yeah, I mean because Harbaugh and Michigan blah lah lah le, you know, do the you know, inceptioning it of it all. I think that what happened was is they had some conversations. I'm sure Tua, we'll probably hear the plans for what you do at quarterback were probably. 00:18:54 Speaker 4: Central to those discussions. 00:18:56 Speaker 3: I'm sure their head start with how they're thinking about their GM strategy because you know, they've had like a two month head start, which there's not that you don't have the same restrictions from a timing standpoint for GM, as you do for head coach, just so the logistics work out, and looking at all those things together, I think it's not necessarily that. Like I do believe that mister Rosso's love him. I thought that was interesting. I love Mike like in his like okay, like why do you That's just that was an odd phrase. But I'm looking at that and I'm thinking he just thought what he could get to make the job attractive having a GM and coach come in together, and they haven't had that in quite some time, because remember Chris Career had been there forever before and making a decision about quarterback and figuring out like to make the. 00:19:46 Speaker 4: Job more attractive for everyone. 00:19:48 Speaker 3: I just think it was kind of one of those things that he was weighing his options and he thinks he has a better option. 00:19:53 Speaker 4: I think he kept Mike dangling. 00:19:55 Speaker 3: It's like it's like when someone's dating you, you know, like he found another girlfriend before he dumped the last one. 00:20:01 Speaker 2: You know, he found a better option. 00:20:02 Speaker 1: And it's known that John Harbaugh and Stephen Ross like have a relationship. A closer relationship doesn't mean he's gonna be able to close this deal. You never know, maybe you don't necessarily just want. 00:20:13 Speaker 3: To Jim Harbaugh want to like take a freaking break. Bush was a president. Yeah, sorry, doesn't John Jim Harbaugh, John Harbaugh, I think he was a Bush was a president the last time he wasn't a head coach. 00:20:25 Speaker 4: That is a long time. 00:20:27 Speaker 3: Like, go hang out with your kids, learned to golf, hang out with your wife, go on a break. 00:20:31 Speaker 1: I mean he's taking a case. His kids are his kids are out of that. 00:20:34 Speaker 3: I think his daughter like in near Tampa and like he could go watch her soccer games or lacrosse or whatever sports is, but lacrosse, I think. 00:20:41 Speaker 4: Anyways, my point is like, well that's not happening, my good man. Why are you like is his heart? Okay? 00:20:47 Speaker 1: NFL media insider Jim Harbaugh already said it his press conference. 00:20:51 Speaker 2: John will be coaching now. 00:20:53 Speaker 4: I'm sure he will. 00:20:54 Speaker 1: And that's that seems very clear. So look, we talked about it at length on our show when John Harbaugh got fired and Jordan Rodrieg laid out some really interesting bread comes in terms of the GM candidates, and yeah, can. 00:21:11 Speaker 4: Somebody do something different? Please? 00:21:13 Speaker 2: Right? 00:21:14 Speaker 4: I hate this coaching search. 00:21:15 Speaker 3: I hate the lists of everyone that's interviewing for coaches. I hate the list of everyone who's interviewing for GMS. There's maybe fifteen percent interesting, eighty five percent. 00:21:24 Speaker 2: What's a lot of the same. It's all garbage. 00:21:26 Speaker 3: They're all interviewing for the same thing. It's like they have a little caravan. You on the zoom call, next you're in the waiting room, you on the like, I'll see you in the waiting room in the Texas what like and the like. 00:21:36 Speaker 4: It's crazy. 00:21:37 Speaker 2: Okay, So I don't want to go through. 00:21:39 Speaker 1: Now there's eight vacancies and there's a lot of interviews lined up. 00:21:43 Speaker 2: I don't want to go through. 00:21:43 Speaker 4: Like they're all the same lists, like five people. 00:21:45 Speaker 1: It's a lot of Clint Kubiak, it's a lot of Matt Naggy, it's a lot of Vans Joseph, It's a lot of Raheem Morris. 00:21:52 Speaker 2: I'm a little surprised. I'd love it about that. 00:21:53 Speaker 4: I would actually think Raheem Moster was more interesting. 00:21:56 Speaker 1: Raheem Morris, Kevin Stefanski is getting at least a handful of the interview. 00:22:01 Speaker 4: Somebody tell me something. 00:22:03 Speaker 2: New, Okay, I want to who's a new thinker? 00:22:06 Speaker 1: I want to stay with Miami, though, because I do find that fascinating that they have Chad Alexander from the Chargers interviewing Jeff Darlington, who is very tired in Miami. 00:22:19 Speaker 2: Yes, and. 00:22:22 Speaker 1: I think often represents in his reporting kind of the team perspective of Miami, good or bad. 00:22:28 Speaker 2: He said that the GM job could be hired. 00:22:31 Speaker 1: As soon as Thursday, and I just wouldn't be surprised if it's setting up the most advantageous and attractive situation, specifically for John Harbaugh, which would be Chad Alexander. He worked with in Baltimore for long time, and then Alexander went to Los Angeles, Jordan out ahead of things and had a great interview with him on Ry Called Daily and check that out from a few weeks ago. 00:23:00 Speaker 3: By the way, I like Chad Alexander, love me be clear. I think he's done a great job. I have a lot of these candidates. I like them, and I think they've done a great job. 00:23:06 Speaker 4: I just don't think. 00:23:07 Speaker 3: Anyone's thinking outside what the heck is The Raiders are going to the same damn thing over and over. 00:23:11 Speaker 4: I can't stand this. 00:23:13 Speaker 1: What if they hired Davis Webb, the thirty year old quarterbacks coach of the Broncos. He is a little bit of a X factor here who not only interviewed with the Raiders, which. 00:23:22 Speaker 2: Is what are we doing? 00:23:23 Speaker 4: I like Davis Webb to be clear, he's a. 00:23:25 Speaker 1: Nice doing with the Ravens as well. Which I find interesting is where. 00:23:30 Speaker 3: Is this like when like companies have fake interviews to try to steal ideas from outta. 00:23:36 Speaker 2: But I do have a theory here. 00:23:37 Speaker 1: So Cliff Kingsbury is reportedly interviewing with the Ravens. I wouldn't be surprised if that both Davis Webb, who is the quarterbacks coach of the Broncos right now, and Cliff Kingsbury. We're both getting interviewed with Baltimore for the head coaching job, more to get them in the building comfortable, learn as much as they can about him, to potentially offer them the coordinator job when they choose someone else. 00:24:02 Speaker 3: So like you choose Vance Joseph and he brings Davis web along as his OC or. 00:24:05 Speaker 1: More specifically jesse mentor yeah, okay, and they end up offering him big time money. Either one of them I think would be interesting offensive coordinator choices. No, I think I think that could be the Ravens list, because the Ravens is the most to me, that's the best job. 00:24:24 Speaker 4: It's it's not even Clark Jackson, not even. 00:24:26 Speaker 1: They're talking to Brian Flores, they're talking to Bands Joseph, They're talking to Clinton Kubiak. Naggie is somehow getting an interview whatever Matt Naggie's agent is doing. 00:24:34 Speaker 2: Congratulations. 00:24:35 Speaker 4: Who can Matt Naggie's agent represent me? 00:24:38 Speaker 1: Right? Anthony Weaver, who was in the building before, we'll get ahead coaching interview there, and so that's what's going on there. 00:24:45 Speaker 3: Anthony Weaver has extremely talented children at sports. 00:24:48 Speaker 4: Just so you know, I didn't know. 00:24:49 Speaker 3: I was watching his kid and he's got like a kid who's I don't know, middle school agents, a lot of them. 00:24:54 Speaker 4: Damn, who is this kid? Like danc Anthony waters on him like, well makes sense? So they live in Florida. 00:24:58 Speaker 1: A baby is an athletic and it's not because of the jeans, although that definitely helps us, because. 00:25:02 Speaker 4: Well, you have this kid was actually really freaking good. 00:25:05 Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm saying you got you have the best coaching that money can buy. 00:25:09 Speaker 4: It's like what am I looking at here? 00:25:10 Speaker 1: In house training? The John Harbaugh thing in Miami. I I do want to leave on this because I think it's been really interesting the whole New York and I would everything that's happening. 00:25:22 Speaker 4: Here, John Harbaugh, What why would you go to New York? Tell me the reasons? 00:25:25 Speaker 2: Okay, so tell me on it. 00:25:27 Speaker 1: So everyone in New York thinks that it's a way better job because you have a quarterback in Jackson Dart. 00:25:34 Speaker 2: You have a quarterback you didn't pick. Okay, Okay. 00:25:37 Speaker 1: You have Malik Neighbors, you have Andrew Thomas, you have Abdull Carter, you have Brian Burns. You do have like a decent amount of like real guys that you can see like making Pro Bowls, and there's not a lot of You have Dexter Lawrence. 00:25:52 Speaker 2: You have some of that. 00:25:53 Speaker 1: Okay, And then you're also the Giants. And this is where I think they're they're totally off the rocker. They think that it still matters, that the Giants are like an organization that matters, and there is respectable organization and they're a classy organization. It's like, you literally have the worst record of any team in the NFL over the last decade and you've cycled through coaches like you're the Raiders. 00:26:13 Speaker 2: So I don't think that is an advantage. 00:26:16 Speaker 3: I have bread crumbs for you here. Okay, until you start seeing former players that aren't named like Eli Manning or like they're like absolute premiere, premier premier guys. Until you see like them standing on the sideline willing to help out, coming to training camp, being involved, wanting to be there, coming back. 00:26:31 Speaker 4: For what do you see for the Broncos? 00:26:33 Speaker 3: How many of the Super Bowl fifty team mates came back for that whatever Bronco day they had, until you have it was actually against the Giants. Interestingly, until you have those kind of guys coming back, something's weird and it's not and it ain't the coach, and it ain't the it ain't the Malik neighbors, and you gotta you gotta think, what what is it that it could be some it's just something's up. 00:26:57 Speaker 2: Well, the losing has been a problem, and. 00:26:58 Speaker 4: A lot of Giants fans blue other stuff to. 00:27:01 Speaker 1: A lot of Giants fans think that Joe Shane being there, the general manager who I thought was going to lose his job did not lose his job, is the thing that's going to lose them John Harbaugh or get in the way. I would say, that's not the reason you're. 00:27:12 Speaker 2: Not going to get Johnathan. 00:27:13 Speaker 1: That's not the reason you're not because if you get John Harbaugh, John Harbor's going to get to run that entire building and he's going to get to do whatever he wants. And if he wants to just flat out fire Joe Shane, he could do that. Or if he wants to do what Mike Rabel did with Elliott Wolf, who's helping to run the front office, he could just keep them and have Elliott Wolf help to execute the vision that he has. Like Mike Rabel is running the Patriots, Elliott Wolf is not running the Patriots, but he was there before. And so if John Harbro wanted, he could have Joe Shane help the cause, and he would bring in his own people as well to be part of it. 00:27:44 Speaker 3: But I don't know what it is. I'm not saying I don't know if it's Joe Shane or not. But I'm telling you that when you have a historic team like the Giants that has Super Bowl victories in this century, I mean in the past whatever twenty years, they have multiple and you don't see those people on a regular basis down there pounding for them like just something's up, Something's up. 00:28:07 Speaker 1: Something also was up in the first twenty four or forty eight hours really hasn't ended. 00:28:12 Speaker 2: After Harbaugh got fired, the a lot of. 00:28:17 Speaker 1: Back and forth of source offs of like, no, John Harbaugh didn't lose the locker room like our guy, Ian Rappaport reported how he kind of lost the locker room, that the offense wasn't really listening to him anymore. And then Adam Schefter said, nothing could be further. 00:28:30 Speaker 3: I saw you tweet that I'm sure of God just like I love a source off, I'm not gonna lie a source. 00:28:36 Speaker 1: Of protesting too much. And that's where I'm I'm getting with. And here's my conspiracy. 00:28:42 Speaker 4: Let's hear it. 00:28:42 Speaker 2: All we've heard this whole time. 00:28:44 Speaker 1: Is like nine teams are after John Harbor, which would mean three teams at the time, you know, three teams who didn't even have head coaching. 00:28:51 Speaker 4: Who's his agent? 00:28:53 Speaker 1: It's Kevin Harlan's brother. I didn't know this until Allie Connolly pointed out on our show. Who's also you know, Bob Harlan's son who used to run the packers for a long time, So you could be connecting a lot of goots. If he really wanted to get conspiratorial, what he. 00:29:08 Speaker 4: Could go to there's born in football. 00:29:10 Speaker 1: Okay, So but here's where I'm getting what I'm getting. I'm like, why is he going so hard in the paint of Like there's so much interest and the giants love John Harbaugh and he's gonna be the best guy ever. And I was like, he really is the best coaching candidate in this cycle, Like you don't have to go so hard, Like you don't have to be leaking to everyone so hard. 00:29:32 Speaker 2: If you are the dude, you're gonna get the job. 00:29:35 Speaker 1: And here's where my conspiratorial brain gets there. It go that all along, John harbaughz wanted to go to Miami where his his friend is the owner, essentially that it's Miami, uh, and he just thought it would be a good fit and that making the giants salivate and making it just so obvious how much the giants love John Harbin, how popular John Harbor is going to be with just like, hey, let's speed up the process here, Mike Miami, let's get rid of Mike McDaniel, Like, let's get as much money as we possibly can for our client down in Miami, which is our preferred landing spot in the end, and the Giants end up just being kind of a leverage play where they're using the Giants and the market in general to get their clients the best possible deal as soon as possible. 00:30:23 Speaker 3: I mean, how bad is that that we're talking about the way I feel about the Giants, Like, I have a lot of love for the Giants as an organization. One of my best friends played there, right, so I'm want and the fact that you could be the little dangle meat. We'll see the meat that could be. I mean, but can I say one thing about Mikeapas. 00:30:40 Speaker 1: They're already starting to spread some breadcrumbs in New York. It's like, well, yeah, in the they still. 00:30:47 Speaker 2: Feel goodbout John Harbor. 00:30:48 Speaker 1: But in the event that they don't, Kevin Stefanski is a great option, and so Kevin Stefanski might be their backup option. 00:30:53 Speaker 2: But who knows. 00:30:54 Speaker 1: Kevin Stefanski could end up in Baltimore, Kevin Spansky could end up somewhere else. 00:30:58 Speaker 2: We don't know. 00:30:59 Speaker 3: I never want to be someone's back up like that. Well, we wanted John Harbaugh. We went we sold out for him, but now we're gonna settle for you. 00:31:06 Speaker 4: You know what, pay me more for that won't cash. That's another million a year for me. 00:31:11 Speaker 2: You know. 00:31:12 Speaker 1: Sometimes it works out even better that way though. 00:31:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, like. 00:31:16 Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson was not the guy that Baltimore necessarily wanted. They drafted Hayden Hurst in the first round over Lamar Jackson, but they ended up with Lamar Denver. Broncos didn't want Sean Payton. Remember, they wanted Damiko Ryans and then they wanted Dan Quinn and they settled for Sean Payton as their third choice, and they did pay him a lot of money and that has worked out fantastic. 00:31:40 Speaker 3: But see, he made them pay. See that's what that's what we got to do to make it. I'm sure their agents figure that one out. 00:31:44 Speaker 1: Though. 00:31:45 Speaker 2: I love this stuff. 00:31:46 Speaker 3: Wait, let me tell you the Mike McDaniel's. Oh I love this stuff so much too. Rumor strong rumor that he's interviewing or been contacted. I don't know if he's interviewed, but been contacted by the Lions to be their OC. 00:31:58 Speaker 2: That's been reported. 00:31:59 Speaker 4: Now, Oh God, please let that happen. Hello for Christmas. 00:32:03 Speaker 3: I would like Mike McDaniel to be the Lions OC Sincerely every Lions fan ever. 00:32:08 Speaker 1: Mike McDaniel and possibly Brian Flores could have an interesting decision this offseason, which is either have a real chance and I don't know if other teams are going to interview Mike daniel or not. 00:32:18 Speaker 2: We'll see. 00:32:19 Speaker 4: He literally just got fired. 00:32:21 Speaker 1: Would you rather, you know, take the Cardinals or let's say Titans job as a head coach or and maybe I don't know, Flores gets a head coaching offer. It's very possible he doesn't or would you like to You don't think he goes to break the salary structure of what a coordinator could make in the league, because I think there is a very real possibility that Mike McDaniel Brian Flores could make more as a head coach. Then let's say the Cardinals head coach is going to get, the Titans head coach is going to get Zach Taylor makes right now, so Brian Flores could make that as the Cowboys defensive court, or McDaniel could with the Lion You know, something like that. 00:32:58 Speaker 3: All of them need to write Chip Kelly, thank you no, because Chip Kelly setting the market at six million for an offensive coordinator. 00:33:05 Speaker 4: And by the way, I'm a Northwestern grad. 00:33:09 Speaker 3: That's the biggest police ever because the Raiders are paying him to be to the os of. 00:33:14 Speaker 4: My little alma mater, little little engine that could there. 00:33:17 Speaker 3: But ultimately I'm looking at this six million for a coordinator, right, So that's the market. 00:33:23 Speaker 4: Baby. 00:33:23 Speaker 2: If I'm Mike McDaniel and I have a chance. 00:33:25 Speaker 4: To I'm Mike mccanna, I'm like seven, I have a chance. 00:33:28 Speaker 1: To be either Jared Goff or Lamar Jackson's offensive coordinator next year versus what's behind door number three with the Cardinals. It's like, I think I'd rather rehab my value, enjoy coaching football for a year, maybe two, and then get ahead. 00:33:42 Speaker 3: I have a number of friends who are former coaches and position we're position coaches and then became head. 00:33:49 Speaker 4: Coaches without fail. 00:33:52 Speaker 3: They all would take the coordinator position for a lot of money with with no and some of them multiple time head coaches. And that stuff gets really hard because now you're not just responsible for yourself, but like the other people you have to bring with you. 00:34:08 Speaker 1: Is interviewing everywhere in this cycle. Robert Salath like a guy who has clearly been enjoying life far more this season as a coordinator than he was as a Jets head coach. 00:34:19 Speaker 3: It's the skill set to be a head coach is not one thing, because every team is configured so differently. The skill set to be the Arizona Cardinals head coach and the Baltimore Ravens head coach. Like Ravens, very well resourced, great front office that is going to again the resources they throw it is very, very different than the. 00:34:39 Speaker 4: Resources that you get in Arizona. It's just different. So it's not the same job everywhere. Offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator. 00:34:46 Speaker 3: Pretty close, some varying levels of responsibility, but much closer than what head coach means. 00:34:52 Speaker 1: Cynthia's cooking forget the thing. Oh yeah, it's just more just quick items. We are gonna say goodbye. Mike McCarthy is interviewing with the Giants. I thought that one was interesting. 00:35:03 Speaker 2: Uh, and then. 00:35:04 Speaker 4: Man, I somebody bring Rex Ryan back. 00:35:07 Speaker 1: I listen to how he pronounced his name ahead of time to make sure I got it right, and now I forgot it. 00:35:12 Speaker 2: It was called a d add and dirty. Uh. 00:35:15 Speaker 1: The Seattle fensive coordinator. I don't think I got it right. 00:35:17 Speaker 3: Uh, I think there's a like Shieldhouse that one's that one's all crazy to me too. 00:35:22 Speaker 2: That will he'll be the actually different that's a different name. 00:35:25 Speaker 4: Shielhouse will be the oct at Tampa. 00:35:27 Speaker 2: That's my guess. Okay, and that's my guest. I don't know anything. The item I. 00:35:31 Speaker 1: Wanted to mention is that, yes, Josh Grizzard is out as Bucks offensive coordinator. Shodd Bowles has been confirmed that he is coming back next year. I'm not shocked about Grizzard, but Steve Alizolo, Uh yeah, who has the check check the mic pod? 00:35:46 Speaker 4: Now the third team baby, he pointed the thirty third team. 00:35:49 Speaker 2: Here. 00:35:50 Speaker 1: Maybe the defining Baker Mayfield stat of his career, which is now that Grizzard is out, that Baker, his offensive coordinator, has either gotten a head coaching job, been elevated, or been fired every year of his career except for twenty twenty one Alex van Pelt, which to me is sort of the perfect Baker Mayfield boom or bust career. 00:36:12 Speaker 4: It's either these Barry bonds. 00:36:14 Speaker 1: He's either getting people hired or he's getting people fired. 00:36:17 Speaker 2: It's kind of a crazy I love it. 00:36:20 Speaker 4: I love that. 00:36:20 Speaker 2: I don't love it for Joshkazar. 00:36:22 Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, you don't ever love it for the person who's been fired. But I'm just saying I love that. That's for I don't want anyone to get fired. 00:36:28 Speaker 1: Great, it's a great stat and that would be fascinating. Yeah, I think the Rams they're going to lose more talent, like they do every. 00:36:36 Speaker 3: Office, whichever one of It's like a lot of AFC teams, right, So if any of them do anything interesting, I'll become a fan. I mean, I'm going to say a Lions fan too, So that's why I said not NFC. 00:36:45 Speaker 4: But if any of them do. 00:36:47 Speaker 3: Anything for at least interview interesting people you're not. 00:36:50 Speaker 4: Even interviewed, like, go get if it's. 00:36:52 Speaker 3: Me, I'm going to interview some college coaches just to learn something and give them the leverage for going to make more money in college because that's a crap job. They need more like having to recruit kids over and over again, your same kids and they can. 00:37:04 Speaker 4: Just leave you after committing. 00:37:06 Speaker 1: That's just a whole But we got to wait out Signetia. 00:37:11 Speaker 4: I think that he's at least interesting. 00:37:13 Speaker 1: It would be interesting at least interview these people. The great part is this isn't over. No, I'm with you that we will possibly have more if Mike Tomlin's gone, or if Lafleur's gone, or McDermott will obviously be tracking all of that. We will be back in the feed on Saturday night. 00:37:33 Speaker 2: I am really looking forward to it. 00:37:35 Speaker 1: We started this last year the NFL Daily in the Playoffs, going live after every playoff night, so it'll be me and Bill Barnwell live on YouTube. Come and join us right after Bears and Packers ends on Saturday night. It will be live on YouTube, and then of course it'll be in the feed, three shows recapping all the fun best weekend of the year. Thank you, Cynthia for the picks and the insight. We will see you Saturday night. 00:38:07 Speaker 3: M
