Episode 117 - Salamanders - Key characters and successor chapters.

The 40k Lorecast

On Today’s cast we close out our coverage of the Salamanders, with a focus on the Salamanders post Vulkan. So we open before Vulkan is gone with Cassian Vaughn and the Disciples of the Flame. Then we move over to Vulkan He’Stan and the origins of the forgefather. After that we have some fun with Adrax, the grumpiest of the Salamanders. Then we jump into a bunch of the events of the Salamanders, mostly them getting pulled into massive conflicts where they take heavy losses but save the day. The attack by Perigno, the ork invasion of the Osiris sector, purging of the genestealer cult on Ymgarl, defeating Soulsmelter, and of course the 2nd and 3rd wars of Armageddon. We then close out on their few but fun/awesome successor chapters.

[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the Forty K-Lorecast.
[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to Forty K. Lorcass with me, John Barsadian, Brad Chester.
[SPEAKER_01]: This guy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Today we'll be concluding our coverage for now of the Salamanders with a dive into their chapter.
[SPEAKER_01]: Basically what they've been up to the last like 9,000 years along with some fun with their successors because GW did some weird work on their successor chapters.
[SPEAKER_00]: Cool names though, also some great names.
[SPEAKER_00]: Really cool tech though, too, because the salamanders, let's put it out there first.
[SPEAKER_00]: Salamanders have made some cool stuff, and they kind of low key didn't get credit for it also, but let's go.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, they, not so low key, don't get to use any of those rules in modern 40s.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't write the stupid rules.
[SPEAKER_01]: Forty K. Lorques, weekly show in the Lord of the War of Forty K. Universe, releasing every Monday at 7 PM Eastern.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you like the show, follow-in comment on it.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know you guys are all doing that already, but I gotta keep saying it because it's hilarious to see how many positive reviews we have, like genuinely I laugh about it with pride.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, thank you all for doing that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, if you like the cast, when you hear more of Brad and I, click the link to our YouTube page, you'll find some to early episodes, convert over with imagery, or pausing on that for a bit, guys, just because I want to do it better than I was doing it before, so we're looking at some of their options.
[SPEAKER_01]: But our live Q&A, which we have another one coming up in the lesson a month now, so, and to December, we look at Christmas Q&A session, which will just consist of our regular Q&A sessions, but it's a new Christmas.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,
[SPEAKER_00]: to tell you about how the Q&A went because the last Q&A John and I were two old men arguing about how to push the button to start the car while we were already live on a wild delay.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it wasn't the best.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, if you want to help us be better at that, there's a link to our Patreon.
[SPEAKER_01]: Our Patreon is something that we utilize to get better audio engineers, possibly maybe have to hire someone so we can figure out how to use YouTube correctly and expand out that way.
[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of you are on the Patreon.
[SPEAKER_01]: Big thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's also a separate channel in our Discord for it.
[SPEAKER_01]: FYI, the Patreon is $4.99 a month that gets you this show and our history of 40K show ad free, which is also $4.310, because Miami Vice number one new hit show.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're doing brought a slava today and the only thing I know about a slava before I looked it up was Euro trip So we're doing this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, bye by all the hotel Which it kind of sucks is there actually on the Euro now it was a lot better when they were on whatever Slovenia's dollars were back before 2004
[SPEAKER_01]: If you're in Slovakia, brought us lava, it's the capital.
[SPEAKER_01]: It used to be the capital of all of Yugoslavia, which I'm not doing to history or less on how that was a terrible idea.
[SPEAKER_01]: But if you look at for a nice getaway, effectively brought us lava has two cool things going for.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you like walking and you like pancakes, brought us lava as a spot for you.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a smallest capital city in Europe.
[SPEAKER_01]: So great for walking around.
[SPEAKER_01]: You've got the denu-briver right there.
[SPEAKER_01]: So really beautiful walk.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's incredible.
[SPEAKER_01]: or as we call them in America, little tiny pancakes.
[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I had to look this up because someone recommended it on Reddit.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a store in Brottislav a called Mr. Pancake.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they have 8,000 reviews on Google.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you should check that out if you're having Brottislav and let me know because I have a big sweet tooth and some of the stuff they make there looks epic.
[SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, things like Kenny.
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, an entire store of not brand food.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, hey, the thing about having Celiac is basically every restaurant is just not for you.
[SPEAKER_00]: Thanksgiving was, my favorite holiday but it was so much more poo because of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah, potatoes, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, no, I got food that I can eat.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying like the stuff in there.
[SPEAKER_01]: No bread.
[SPEAKER_01]: No bread, no, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: It makes it just not a Thanksgiving mojo.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but.
[SPEAKER_01]: last piece always discord.
[SPEAKER_01]: Please guys come into our discord with actually where we got a lot of ideas for shows.
[SPEAKER_01]: The end of the show will tell you guys what we're covering next.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was because of our discord.
[SPEAKER_01]: We do this a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: If the discord is totally free, by the way, I've been yelled at for this in a while.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's doing again, it is a totally free place.
[SPEAKER_01]: Our discord, because I don't believe anyone should be charging for a discord, despite a few people getting really mad at me for saying that, and I don't care, I stand by my statement, discord should be free.
[SPEAKER_00]: I love everything about you, just firing it up of, I haven't got to fight with anybody in a little while.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's do it.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's all right.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll spit the last week on Discord trying to defend my position of not liking Terminator 2.
[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, good day on that hill.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, I mean, you can die on a wrong hill.
[SPEAKER_00]: The hill will be called.
[SPEAKER_01]: Mount your wrong John.
[SPEAKER_01]: Terminator two is like 30% awesome 40% garbage and then like 30% man.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the problem with the mouth.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're you're if you get drunk tested right now they would finally you're on all of that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Every time John Connor speaks the movie gets worse.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're not wrong there.
[SPEAKER_01]: But there we go.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's my point.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Arnold's amazing in it, but there is that element.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's get back into Salamanders.
[SPEAKER_01]: Vulcan's gone.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's the most important piece here.
[SPEAKER_01]: We spent most of our first couple of casts just kind of talking really about Vulcan.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so now I want to spend some time with letting some other Salamanders shine.
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, Salamanders are amphibians, so Neophytes would be called tadpoles.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's talk about one of the biggest things here, which is,
[SPEAKER_00]: The Salabanders have been for me, very awesome.
[SPEAKER_00]: And from the beginning and ever most, they just keep throwing it into the fire, you know, to the name of them.
[SPEAKER_00]: But they really start, I don't know if the Emperor had a grudge against them, but their numbers stayed very, very low.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they just kept getting into these crazy engagements.
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, we talked about them from before even they got their primary.
[SPEAKER_00]: And the fact that they were just so big on sacrificing themselves to save others.
[SPEAKER_00]: This continues, they kind of have a higher casualty rate while doing this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the thing about the soundmenders is they effectively were very heavily on the back foot at the end of the heresy.
[SPEAKER_01]: They, them in Ravenguard, obviously, both just got demolished.
[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, I guess Ironhands did too, but for whatever reason the soundmenders
[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of retreating back and building up, just kept getting pulled into crap.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they never got a real chance to get themselves at the full size, like raving guard and iron hands have.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're both also smart legions, obviously, as well, but not as bad as salamanders.
[SPEAKER_01]: But let's get into some, the salamanders, let's get them in pushes for codecs or star days.
[SPEAKER_01]: Vulcan, interestingly, we're talking about a lot of stuff, was one of the ones who pushed back.
[SPEAKER_01]: And everyone had their own reason.
[SPEAKER_01]: Most of them were just pride and power.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, Dorn and Russ didn't see why they should do a killin' and wanted because they couldn't see themselves as being any more loyal.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they thought Gilliman's concept was almost enough front to their honor, saying, you have to break up my leg, in case I'm not loyal of the Emperor, what do you mean I'm not loyal of the Emperor?
[SPEAKER_01]: Did you see all this stuff I just did for the Emperor?
[SPEAKER_01]: The Vulcans was actually a little bit different.
[SPEAKER_01]: He was actually almost sad.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Salamander had just started getting their legion back.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're nowhere at this stage, too.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the post-ist von, you're probably talking 10,000 or less Salamander's galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it could be, maybe it's 10,000.
[SPEAKER_01]: If I'm being honest, they really don't know.
[SPEAKER_00]: But they were constantly wiped out at the point of the beginning of the air.
[SPEAKER_00]: See, they were just gone.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Vulcan, remember when he joined the Salamanders, they were at a small size, because they'd still struggle to recover and they'd been doing all his rear guard actions.
[SPEAKER_01]: Vulcan had always dreamed of having a legion like his brothers, but governed by the Promethian cult.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it would be better than the others.
[SPEAKER_01]: It was a real ability to expand out and conquer the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, with the Ultramarines actually did.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now the Promethian cults are pretty awesome.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of things inside the marine legions that are just met, but the previous cults actually do like a really good job of determining what it is to be a salamander.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like that quite a bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so Vulcan's looking at this going, hey, if I can only have a thousand, and actually, by the way, guys, I sure was that was wrong, there were less than 700 after it spawned five salamanders in the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is not ideal.
[SPEAKER_01]: What Volk is wanted was to take that and build it back to the super lesion.
[SPEAKER_01]: And with the coders' authorities, he's never going to be able to.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, unless he wants to do the Black Templar thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: and just roll out everywhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're all figured out.
[SPEAKER_01]: The interesting thing is the sell manners did not have a founding until M35, which is 4,000 years after the second founding.
[SPEAKER_01]: Or they found the black guy saying, what did they found?
[SPEAKER_01]: Cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: The black dragons who are a cursed founding, which we'll talk about them later.
[SPEAKER_01]: And in the Salamanders, that was their only successor until the ultimate founding where all the primarismorians came out, and they still only got four more than.
[SPEAKER_01]: So there's only five successor chapters in the book for the Salamanders.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Ultramrines for the record would did five successor chapters in one founding, like a couple of times.
[SPEAKER_00]: I like the fact that the Salamanders, all of their successor chapters, have some pretty good history, and they've done some cool stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: All of it too.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, all of it too.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure they're just present.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: My bad on that one, guys.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm thinking I'm like, I've played them in the table.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I know it's not the quote, but I'm sure you make Meatloaf fan like three out of five ain't bad too.
[SPEAKER_01]: But so for today's cast, though, we're gonna jump around a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: Covering more just kind of coming some stuff we didn't cover last couple casts, I think it's interesting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Especially stuff, what I like to focus on these casts is, all right, if you're playing against salamanders and you walk up and someone's got something, do you know what that is?
[SPEAKER_01]: Not for me competitive, who gives a crap standpoint.
[SPEAKER_01]: But for me, oh, that's kind of interesting.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you have a special dread not.
[SPEAKER_01]: You are running black dragon.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we're getting to some of those today.
[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of dread not, I want to start with Cassie and Vaughan, who later becomes Cassie and Dracotne, because this story is just cool as hell.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Cassie and Vaughan, if you remember, was the original chapter master of the 18th legion.
[SPEAKER_00]: He was leading them during the unification wars, and then he led them up until the arrival of Vulcan, and Vulcan was very, very cool about the transfer to.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, Cassian's awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Cassian, at the time of the transfer, he gets mortally wounded fighting the orcs.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Vulcan's actually sad about the air, met this guy in his life, but he's sad about it because he's been following the 18th Legion.
[SPEAKER_01]: He knows how incredible they've been, because they've really even without him being there.
[SPEAKER_01]: They held up a lot of the ideals that he believed in.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's because of Cassian.
[SPEAKER_01]: So after the battle, Vulcan sees that casting is dying and he creates a sarcophagi that would entomb Vaughan to dread not.
[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't just build a sarcophagi though.
[SPEAKER_01]: He builds a bit more than that and this dread not is, I believe it's the first venerable.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is that right, Fred?
[SPEAKER_00]: What's the, yeah, what they use to say they eventually use this has the prototype further redemptor because it's so heavy because that's right.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is what on the table would be brand fashion, who's the first person entombed in this dread not the captain of the fourth company.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll go to Braff.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and we'll get to him in maybe 10 minutes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, it's just a human being.
[SPEAKER_00]: But the thing is, it's like Vulcan, this is a bit wildly, it kind of an awesome thing for the time.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is so much, this is a durable, but it's also heavily, he's not inscribed, it's beautiful.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the state, he made it, see, Peter's Basilica model.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying you guys can buy a lot of him plastic too.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he does this dread not which is amazing and it's the first it's the iron dragon.
[SPEAKER_00]: And iron dragon is what he's in tomb den and this dread not is a feat of I feel it should probably be one of his artifacts to be honest with you.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I mean, it's pretty awesome and he starts wrecking people in it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So let's talk about that he's awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: So when he gets into the dread not Cassian Vaughn changes his name to Cassian Drakos, I don't know why the thing has something to do with the dread not, but he does not important.
[SPEAKER_01]: he then joins Vulcan of the trip back to nocturn.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's back on nocturn?
[SPEAKER_01]: He learned so it's one of the Permitian cult all this stuff and he is a big fan.
[SPEAKER_00]: But let's pop this in because Kaskin's unlike most dreadnoughts besides even when they wake up.
[SPEAKER_00]: Excuse me.
[SPEAKER_00]: Bjorn, even when they wake up, you know, they don't wake him up all the time.
[SPEAKER_00]: Cascine stays alert in a wake for a lot longer than most dreadnoughts do, because he starts teaching and telling people about things.
[SPEAKER_00]: And also, you know, he is wearing dreadnought boots of mighty ass kicking, which I don't know what the upgrade points on that, or the boots of mighty ass kicking plus three.
[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't know on this one because they have to be better for
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they are better, because what we're going to cover next is after, find some time with his legion, the call comes in about East Von III.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the legion goes to go basically, stamp out the trails.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Cassian is present at East Von V. And when the betrayal begins, as a Solomon who's a retreating backup, and I forget which, who fired upon them first, but who cares.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cassian,
[SPEAKER_01]: takes that personally.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: He puts at least a four extra pumps into the boots mighty ass kicking.
[SPEAKER_00]: It decides that, hey, man, you know what the best trader is?
[SPEAKER_00]: A burnt trader, because he turns the flavors on and then starts going, gun nuts.
[SPEAKER_01]: This dreadnought is awesome, because there's two power fists, which is cool and lore uses in a tabletop, just this, and some super flavors in it.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he just starts roasting traders and smack and smack
[SPEAKER_01]: The, when everyone's at the trap that they've sprung, stops working very well because the centimeter start gaining ground despite having the low ground and, you know, being massively outguned because the world's angriest dread not is pissed.
[SPEAKER_01]: At a certain point, this is when Horace has to appear on the battlefront.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Horace starts moving forward.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cassian knows Horace because when he was alive, they actually served together and takes, and you're just be lying towards him.
[SPEAKER_01]: And in the book, it's pointed that Horace actually recognizes Cassian through like the other gap in the dread not and goes, oh,
[SPEAKER_01]: and then he hits him in the chest with a giant thunder hammer and knocking him to the ground.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, to, to again, the ultra dreadnought mojo, this should have any other dreadnought horse who's hitting with that would have been just gone.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's part one.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, tourists hits the dreadnought knocks unconscious, then the dreadnought gets newed like everything else.
[SPEAKER_01]: After the battle of his funfire, the salamanders are back on
[SPEAKER_01]: And they just like, hey, um, we haven't heard anything from the people we sent to Esteban.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't want to check on this and they decide to send out some ships.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't love this story.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's Horace Harris, he book six called Retribution because it takes them forever to get there.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they send one of the ships.
[SPEAKER_01]: They send us called the Evan Drake.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this one becomes very important.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a super ship designed by Vulcan himself that makes the journey.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, once it eventually gets there,
[SPEAKER_01]: see their legion totally destroyed, but they find like almost a beacon or like a light pulse and they go and investigate and under the rubble, they find Cassian, find the dreadnought.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the dreadnought is actually self-repairing.
[SPEAKER_01]: I was just about to pull that out and build it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we should have said that in the beginning because one of the reasons I know, but it's such a cool thing
[SPEAKER_00]: the awesomeness of his artifice, you know what I mean?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, made this self-repairing metal.
[SPEAKER_00]: He basically made Necrod self-healing metal.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and this is why the dread not it still exists on that, which is I just think that this is such a cool thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's this dread not's been lore awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, tabletop.
[SPEAKER_00]: Man.
[SPEAKER_00]: But what's funny about this now, whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: Is he ledgers now, even though what's his nuts is legends?
[SPEAKER_01]: I think a brand has a new one is legends.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have to go look Jack.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's fine, we'll look later.
[SPEAKER_01]: But what I like about this is Draco's wakes up and he's in a mood.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the best way to survive it.
[SPEAKER_01]: He turns, looks at everyone and the entire surface of this to bond.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a couple like it's destroyed.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they find a few other random survivors.
[SPEAKER_01]: Some raven guard, some iron hands, maybe even one or two salamanders.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they grab dragos, they grab these people, and they bring them on this ship called the Ed and Drake.
[SPEAKER_01]: What's even crazier about the drug not though is that it has a weird effect on everyone around it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even on the machinery and stuff though, too.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, everything.
[SPEAKER_01]: It seems like everything warms to his presence.
[SPEAKER_01]: So as this, drug not is walking through the ship, the electronics of the ship actually are better powered when it's in his presence.
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, your, your servitors work better.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all he can say.
[SPEAKER_00]: He has a machine of gravity, but he also has a morale beacon around himself, is a beacon of, we've got this guy's, he's getting everybody gets the pat on the back when he's around.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, he effect, in effect, because of this ability, rallies the troops who are there.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is, again, rag tag group and says, all right, this trader thing has to stop.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's pause on this one because I do think this is a big deal for what what is happening because of the fact that You can remember this is a group that just got betrayed by the most trusted brother.
[SPEAKER_00]: The thing that was just unthinkable and also You're in real danger of not having a legion for some of these.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
[SPEAKER_00]: There's such you're picking up the remnants of Your entire your bait who you are your brothers, you know
[SPEAKER_00]: and his presence is making all these people ready for action as opposed to ready for despair and throw in the top.
[SPEAKER_01]: He kind of makes Death Watch Mark 0.0.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, sure.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what it's just a collection of them with one purpose and that's to go and wreck some traders.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he and this like Motley crew, which is a terrible band for the record.
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what, I will kick, I will kick start your heart as I'm going home sweet home, my friend.
[SPEAKER_01]: So bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: So bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, they get together and they rename themselves the disciples of the flame.
[SPEAKER_01]: And disciples of the flame, we've got a name, we've got a ship, we've got a purpose.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go wreck some traders and they begin just basically searching the galaxy for problems.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the first thing they find is what's called the mezoan campaign.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this, I like the story lies, you guys can tell.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a forge world, which is critical for the world effort, because they make armaments and spacecrafts.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's also weird because they've got moons that are blockaded and that blockaded, but long story story, alpha Legion iron workers are there.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're there to convince the forge world to turn trader.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's the forge world.
[SPEAKER_01]: could not care less what side they're on for being honest they're going all right long as you guys can give me cool supplies I'll make stuff and you can take it I just want to do my mechanic and stuff here disciples of the flame come in they've got some imperial support with them also big battle this is still a cool name except the fact that this is a cool name disciples of the flame basically these guys are the expendable
[SPEAKER_01]: I like to say about to the flame a lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a super cool army.
[SPEAKER_01]: If I played 30k, I would build the sails of the flame army.
[SPEAKER_01]: Candidly, I just don't play 30k because 7 edition rules were terrible.
[SPEAKER_01]: But with Hothi, it's me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, what they do then is they have a big space battle.
[SPEAKER_01]: They start losing the space battles.
[SPEAKER_01]: So then Cassian and his hate this word, ret new, oh, oh, done.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, ret new.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm genuinely gun shy to the point where for this cast, I looked up other words and they weren't great.
[SPEAKER_01]: You had companions.
[SPEAKER_01]: You had a court.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go through third.
[SPEAKER_00]: Chape, yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm reading this when I said he said it over.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, companion's not bad.
[SPEAKER_00]: Court of the flame would have been kind of a cool thing to call him.
[SPEAKER_00]: And then you're like, I ran out of synonyms.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go with groupies.
[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, no, no.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just have seen in his groupies.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's no, but there's actually a better word.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's even harder.
[SPEAKER_01]: Court of shape, COR, T-E-G-E. Wow.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, courtic.
[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't even use that one.
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't even start to pronounce that one correctly.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was impressively wrong but continue.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I know.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, good god.
[SPEAKER_01]: I have friends with English degrees I should just ask them but whatever all right So Cassian just goes him is right now go bad at style.
[SPEAKER_01]: They land he just goes running.
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, drink that south
[SPEAKER_00]: You're not giving it to him enough because in my mind he's like doing a back flip off, you know, when they do the flip out of the airplane and everybody's, you know, doing there.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: Things on.
[SPEAKER_00]: He drops down to drop pod.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: In my mind, the drop pod does a couple of flips and looks super cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't point rake stuff in any lands and immediately start sprinting.
[SPEAKER_00]: And Yolo swag is the door.
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm assuming just who they man's through if not so.
[SPEAKER_01]: 100% just cool made man's into the leaders of the mechanic, I'm on the planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I love this scene because it gets in there.
[SPEAKER_01]: And no one says anything.
[SPEAKER_01]: They all just look up at what is the greatest built dread not in the entire galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: And just go, yeah, whatever this guy wants, we're proud of this team.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we've done just full stop this is you brought because they effectively saw him as a sub deity walked into the room and was like, I want to, I want your attention though you can have anything from us, can we take a sample of whatever the hell you're made of pretty much yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: but this happens and of course the traders are notified pretty quickly of the middle finger gets sent to them by the mechanicum if we're not joining you and now they have to go do something about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So in classic alpha legion style, the alpha legion convinces the iron warriors to go get them guys and then you go in this way and you're gonna come in the backside and hit them.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the iron warriors, because they're stupid, I'm sorry they just are, they just the times iron warriors all the time.
[SPEAKER_01]: go full-bore frontal assault into a mechanic and forge world that has now been reinforced by the disciples of the flame.
[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't go great.
[SPEAKER_01]: And as they were just getting worse.
[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't go great because the elephant, you should, you remember that tie when they were joining you in this pincere move?
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's hard to make a pincere with half of the pincere goes somewhere else to do the thing that they really wanted to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a funny double failure.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Alpha Legion ditched the Iron Warriors to go and try and cut the head off the snake by killing one of the Mechanicham leaders.
[SPEAKER_01]: It has a little bit of an effect, but not a lot, because again, there's a God on the planet as far as the Mechanicham is concerned, and they're gonna keep following that thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: But I love what happens next.
[SPEAKER_01]: Cassian realizes this.
[SPEAKER_01]: And instead of just wiping out the Iron Warriors, he sends a message to them saying, hey, let's meet.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so he and Narek Drager, who's there, that he's a leader of the Iron Warriors there, meet.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Cassine is looks at him and tells him, look, the Alpha Legion betrayed you.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone's going to betray you.
[SPEAKER_01]: What are you doing here?
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's such a good move that Narek looks around, goes back to his legion and says, what, effectively, why are we doing this?
[SPEAKER_01]: We're not traitors.
[SPEAKER_01]: and he and his legion then have their mini-estvan three because they murder everyone who disagrees with them.
[SPEAKER_01]: They kill them all and then they go join.
[SPEAKER_01]: They declare that Peter was in a hole and then they go and join the disciples of the flame.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nick is a late even larger who then going to attack the alpha legion who have to retreat.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is one of the only stories of this, by the way,
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, what's funny about that is that we don't know what happens after that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Recently, don't know is the Imperium has redacted everything post this because the view point is, if you have a story where the traders become loyalist, that's actually not good for the narrative of the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so the inquisition has wiped out all records of it post of this, but what we do know is that disciples of Flaming existed, and the Salamanders, they have some private records on this matter that I don't have access to.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the story then concludes quickly, because we don't know what happens all we know is that the Evan Drake, the ship of the disciples of the Flaming, thank you.
[SPEAKER_01]: gets wrecked at some point.
[SPEAKER_01]: And in that wreckage, it sounds like Cassian dies.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Cassian deceased at some point.
[SPEAKER_00]: All throughout this cast, by the way, I keep wanting to call the Evan Drake, the Evan Hawk, and then play some code, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: Of course you do.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Here's your game.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a really good game.
[SPEAKER_01]: The second port that they made for Steam plays really well.
[SPEAKER_01]: The first one does not, unfortunately.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's a side note for another day.
[SPEAKER_01]: What happens then is the Salamanders take Cassian's Dredna, and they rename it the Iron Dragon.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Iron Dragon gets handed down.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it has been for the last 9,000 years, 8,000 however long it's been since Cassian passed.
[SPEAKER_01]: But only the most noble of Salamanders can be entombed in this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because Vulcan did make it himself.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's well, again, in Lawrence badass on tabletop, it sucks, but it's currently on Braith.
[SPEAKER_00]: Ah, he for a while, it was good.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, because he was like super good, because it was a dreadnought with a feel no pain.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's right, which it should be.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, it should be broken.
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this, the dreadnought itself is... No, it's not a structure.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a structure.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a structure.
[SPEAKER_01]: That was a fun moment.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's before she ever went, yeah, those are out of the game.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, never again.
[SPEAKER_01]: But brave Ashman told real quick on him.
[SPEAKER_01]: He is just a super badass.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the example of what it takes to be...
[SPEAKER_01]: to earn the right to be entombed in the Iron Dragon.
[SPEAKER_01]: The story on Braith is really badass.
[SPEAKER_01]: Braith is doing a campaigning as the Black Legion and some mutants on this city.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Black Legion go to retreat into the subcity to hide, because they're just getting the butts kicked.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Braith goes, yeah, the only good hero takes a day of heretic, and he's so low after them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Nine days later, he comes partly cool-aid man style bursting out of the sub level, having killed every single Black Legion air and mutant down there.
[SPEAKER_01]: and he's covered in ash.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's why he's called ash mantle because he broke through all the ducks and that comes with the gut there.
[SPEAKER_01]: Which is a cool story until you remember that someone's going to do maintenance down there and he probably could have just come out the way he went in,
[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, no, which is, it is like the, I'll do a side real quick for us, because I makes me think of this all the time with the marines.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's the same thing when you see all the videos about normal people when the Avengers were in it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yes, it would be another like, yeah, man.
[SPEAKER_00]: I hate you.
[SPEAKER_00]: You just threw a car through my apartment.
[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like that's what happens a lot when Marines show up and they're like, yeah, I have no place to live and you blew up my place I work at.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I like we'll say the day someone's house on his way out.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone was dead.
[SPEAKER_01]: All of the enemies were killed.
[SPEAKER_01]: So just gently gone home.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm taking at the crow flies.
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back after a quick break.
[SPEAKER_01]: After him, let's jump on to really, I don't think you guys are so how incredibly funny this disappointment was for those of us who know Salamander fans.
[SPEAKER_01]: In early 2025, we got a hint about some Salamander's coming out.
[SPEAKER_01]: We had a hint that Vulcan was coming back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because we had some imagery, the truth is like all of us, I wasn't 100% we were getting Vulcan back, but I thought we'd at least get a codex.
[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't even get that, but the best one was they announced, you know, a new Vulcan model, but it's not primart Vulcan.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's Vulcan.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I get this day long.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's standing now.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going with he stand.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's easier for me to pronounce it that way.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's he's the he's the He's the blooming thaw.
[SPEAKER_01]: Good chef.
[SPEAKER_01]: How about this other looking?
[SPEAKER_01]: So aside from a chapter master with the other top title when the Salamanders is forge father and the chapter master's role is to lead the Salamanders the forge father is kind of almost a caretaker of their legacy I get historian
[SPEAKER_00]: and let's be honest, the forge father, the chapter master leads the chapter, the forge father leads the chapter master.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: The chapter master, hey we're going here at once, is this a good idea?
[SPEAKER_01]: The forge father kind of gives like the thumb up thumb down.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, yeah, we'll keep listening to him.
[SPEAKER_01]: The force father is cool because he's a more of an Indiana Jones Nathaniel Drake than a real historian because he's also searching for artifacts and expanding the chapter.
[SPEAKER_01]: The history and the first one is a guy with a technique named T-Cell and T-Cell worked with Vulcan on the forges of nocturn.
[SPEAKER_01]: creating weapons, creating armor, doing all this stuff, and eventually Vulcan creates this title called Forgefather, and gives it to T-Cow, because it's basically his number one Forge buddy, that's what I'll go with here, on what's critical about this is that once the heresy breaks out and Vulcan decides to go to Estvan, he tells T-Cow and he's to collect everything in the UNI ever built and destroyed.
[SPEAKER_00]: I want all of it destroyed, because he's worried about them being grabbed by the, basically, falling into the hands of traders, I think this is going to be handled a lot differently, because this is a big, hey, man, all our awesome stuff, just destroy it just in case.
[SPEAKER_00]: Can't we use it against them?
[SPEAKER_00]: But he doesn't really know to have seven.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see if I'm
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he keeps seven.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where the next the nine artifacts of all can how we get that departure, but let's another day.
[SPEAKER_01]: He keeps seven of them, later, T-Cale, T-Cale's kind of badass gets infected by a scrap code by a mechanicum, because they didn't know the mechanicum had gone trader, so a mechanic emissary visits, and actually infects T-Cale because he is a tech marine with a scrap code.
[SPEAKER_00]: which T. Calt as a coach going through his system, because he waited him to open the vault and get access to seven shoots himself in the head with a plasma pistol, which it becomes which or bad as because he straight-up shoots himself with a plasma pistol and goes, I didn't hear the bell and the scrap code apparently got wrecked by me,
[SPEAKER_01]: but he's not done then because later he's on a ship with actually the iron hands of all people and then has commands as salamanders back on the planet to blow his ship up that he's on.
[SPEAKER_01]: Which I think is because he was worried about the scrap code spreading.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is not one of the better books guys so I didn't feel really reading it for the guests.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just, there's something going on that.
[SPEAKER_01]: This then creates a legacy of the Ford's father.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Ford's father, as you expect to change his hands every time someone dies, interestingly though, bought some of them and dying recently.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so, in M41, I'll get to why in a second, in M41, he stand takes over.
[SPEAKER_01]: is going to annoy people that's fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: He takes over.
[SPEAKER_01]: He'd been the captain of the fourth company and a long history of just being an awesome salamanders because he was exceptional scow, then it was good marine, these would later.
[SPEAKER_01]: But as a Ford's father, a couple of key things about him.
[SPEAKER_01]: First one, he carries this state, the spirit of Volcanoes.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, like, we're gonna, I don't care what the notes say or what we're doing, John.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're definitely talking about the fact that he's carrying the spear of Volkhead, which is significantly larger than he is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and he's carrying it because a certain person really wants it, in the only way for him to keep it safe is carrying out with him, and that certain person is tracing the infinite.
[SPEAKER_01]: Trasin has been murdering forage fathers for a millennia plus trying to steal all of Vulcan's artifacts because Trasin is the most British historian of the entire the forticate universe.
[SPEAKER_01]: All he wants to do is find all the artifacts and put them in his collection so that they're not wasted on the silly people who created them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's staying and trades and actually had personal one or one combat that he stand won at least once if not twice.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I like he's staying.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is unfortunately the lore is really good than horrifyingly disappointing because he's devoted all of his energies to reading the tomb of fire, which is a this
[SPEAKER_01]: impossible home of knowledge, right?
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm all good.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not as at though.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's got all kinds of different clockwork pieces and everything else.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not just words.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's coded and so no one can fully understand it and blah blah blah The reason I go blah blah blah is he keeps trying to read it and understand it and it's You read a book and he's like on the he's getting on the path He's figured out this he's unlocked that and then it's always a dead end
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the thing that I hold the most to and go restore his fans, this is like a psychological.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: It just, what I've been, it's just one of those, hey, either he can read this or he can't stop making me read books where at the end of the book he doesn't actually open.
[SPEAKER_00]: I went.
[SPEAKER_00]: Because then you have to bring real Vulcan back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, now let's jump into what next one I would jump to is ad racks or is I call him peacemaker.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what he is.
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, this might be my favorite Salamander character on the board.
[SPEAKER_00]: He wants to put the beats down.
[SPEAKER_00]: He has, when he, I say he puts on his boots and my his ass kicking, he puts on the superhero boots that go half way up your thigh.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's also the
[SPEAKER_00]: 100% also carrying a comically big hammer and wanting to go put the beats on people.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Edrex has classic GW writing.
[SPEAKER_01]: Every stage of his career he's fought and survived against overwhelming odds.
[SPEAKER_01]: He always survives, but a lot of his compatriots don't.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he's a sergeant on the world of Scoria, on that world, both of his captains die, so he then becomes captain.
[SPEAKER_01]: Default count, which is, yeah, Default captain.
[SPEAKER_01]: Later, he's with Eastan, fighting against the jukari to reclaim like Vulcan's sickle or not have it stolen, whatever it says.
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's fun, by the way, as you mentioned, Eastan speaks jukari.
[SPEAKER_01]: Random pretty does so he's fighting there bunch of soundmanners dot little focus kind of cool one away He's like an actual This fucking's really cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's a scout.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's just yeah, it's he had Jones He's a green beret Indiana Jones like yeah, I mean he's like a very learned man and gets into some crazy stuff
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if you take the character of Arnold Schwarzenegger played Commando, if you mix that one, is it Frank Ducks?
[SPEAKER_01]: No, that's Predator, whatever.
[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, that's Colando Schwarzenegger.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Blood Sport Damic Nightingale Close.
[SPEAKER_01]: I could look all this up, but I'm not going to tell you.
[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, you take Arnold Schwarzenegger Commando and you mix him with Indiana Jones and put those together.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's Vulcan.
[SPEAKER_01]: Addrax is just a bat.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he, the X one he does is there's something called the Dragon Wars.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Dragon Wars, remember how I said that some owners only had one successor or early on, they got a second one because there was a trader group, their trader brethren called the Dragon Warriors, who are made up of a former librarian apprentice of the Salamanders who turn to the ruinous powers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Addrex is more of the key players and he's dragon wars the two fight against each other, so Addrex just starts continuously seeing some shit and this has over time kind of broken his brain a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's not crazy.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's just
[SPEAKER_01]: very, very stoic, and a hell of a warrior, which becomes this ironic statement about him, because they say he's the most Vulcan of all of the current.
[SPEAKER_00]: Except for the fact that he's the king of collateral damage, which is
[SPEAKER_01]: No, yes, very salamant.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, and that's what's great about this thing, because he's the super stoic warrior who just fights.
[SPEAKER_01]: And when he fights, he just wins.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he relies only on himself.
[SPEAKER_01]: He never really relies on anyone else doing form.
[SPEAKER_01]: He is this, and he basically is Vulcan personified, my Honor, except he really doesn't care about other people.
[SPEAKER_01]: He wants nothing in the galaxy more than peace, and safety for the members of the Imperium.
[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't care how many members of the Imperium he has to kill, or to achieve that peace.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, peacebag is a great show.
[SPEAKER_01]: Indeed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, let's talk a bit more about from those characters.
[SPEAKER_01]: A little quick hits through the last, since basically M32, what the Salamanders have been up to.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, as we said before, they are one of the smallest playable factions of all the space models, hold on numbers.
[SPEAKER_01]: Even post-alternate founding, I think they're still smaller than both Raven and Ironhands.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, why?
[SPEAKER_01]: Because they keep just getting pulled into crap.
[SPEAKER_00]: crazy crap.
[SPEAKER_00]: No, but we cover this up big amount in the Jerkari case.
[SPEAKER_01]: Where, where?
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is hilarious.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, you're going to lose, you're going to lose some salabatters when you decide to yolo swaggids the dark city.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is awesome.
[SPEAKER_01]: So M35, the Salmander's are an effect mind in their own business.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're just doing their stuff in the galaxy.
[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, inside the dark city, Vect has been rising.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he finally is wants to get rid of the noble classes.
[SPEAKER_01]: And in order to do that, he has to effectively create a giant conflict inside the city.
[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't have the numbers for it, so he decides, I know what I'll do.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll use the humans.
[SPEAKER_01]: And he puts together this really, it is a very genius plan.
[SPEAKER_01]: He begins overrating an area.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you when the Drew Carriedude or real space raids they'll hit an area and then they'll go to a different area well after.
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's to prevent a build up of forces.
[SPEAKER_01]: But he didn't want that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he starts reading really heavily in the desert area.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and he also made it a salivander protected area because he means that they would come in force.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so the salamanders eventually counter one of the rates and they bring in their strike crews are called forage hammer.
[SPEAKER_01]: vect had a plan though.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so his forge hammer arrives.
[SPEAKER_01]: He attacks forge hammer not to blow it up but to capture.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they do, with Marines inside by the way, a lot of Marines, a lot of Marines like because he wanted that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they grabbed the forge hammer and they bring it back through the webwakey into commerce as this ultimate prize.
[SPEAKER_01]: So as he does, all in no billion dark city, say,
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, which he got.
[SPEAKER_00]: He gives them the double guns and goes no problem.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's all yours, Rose.
[SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead and have it as soon as the nobility get to the ship.
[SPEAKER_01]: They discover the ship's full of fully armed salamanders who are not cool with this so far.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's been a tracking beacon in there.
[SPEAKER_01]: So out of nowhere, the webway gets breached by the salamanders along with howling
[SPEAKER_01]: and the sky above camera explodes.
[SPEAKER_01]: Both sides are having terrible losses, vexed by the way, his forces go back to the undercity for a little bit here.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this giant conflict goes up.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's cool as hell, but I love the end of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because the end of it is, the salamanders regain control of forage hammer.
[SPEAKER_01]: They retreat back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then the griffins, the silver skulls, have all retreat ball up, but wait.
[SPEAKER_00]: Going to Indiana Jones, there's no way they're not.
[SPEAKER_00]: Start the engines, Joc.
[SPEAKER_01]: Stop it, James, the part I love is as they're going through the web way.
[SPEAKER_01]: They kind of turn around and with this great middle finger back, just fire off a fruit juice right in the middle of copper and go up the other side.
[SPEAKER_01]: Just f you guys boom, right?
[SPEAKER_01]: Screw you guys.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going home.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right afterwards, by the way, is when Vect attacks and takes and just takes complete control.
[SPEAKER_01]: So now another millennia goes by, because centimeters lost a ton of people in this fight, by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: So another, cause Vect wasn't trying to preserve a salad man, there's this whole process.
[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't like, oh, you know, don't worry, guys, you'll be okay, he killed a lot of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: So millennia goes by, and this summer's going back on the good foot, they're ready to go, and Goge Vandir.
[SPEAKER_01]: So Goge Vandir has risen to power and he's trying to show off a little bit.
[SPEAKER_01]: And one thing about Goge was,
[SPEAKER_01]: He really believed that he could have the people behind him.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the way he did this was by constantly labeling people heretics.
[SPEAKER_01]: Goge has a lot of, it's a British writing thing, but he's got a lot of red scare in it with what is that sender's name?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, McCarthyism.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and a lot of the McCarthyism kind of going around the same time.
[SPEAKER_01]: Kasi, because he will be able to be in traders, anyone who will be mildly disagreed with, or thought could be a problem.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, he then has a right-hand man named Perigno, who goes out to this marketable's heritage.
[SPEAKER_01]: The thing about the Salamanders is that the Permitium cult is not entirely with keeping with the Imperial Creed.
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a religious thing, it's a philosophy, but it's also a philosophy that's been working pretty awesome because it's about stoke selflessness, obtaining personal perfection, being just relying on your self being the best you can help your brothers, you can help the other people around you, basically by being personally the best, but it's not just
[SPEAKER_00]: quoting the imperial creed, and it's one of those things of, yeah, man, leave those people alone, which is what everybody does now with that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the view point of pre-themed creed and current is look, the cellometers aren't preaching anything against the imperial creed.
[SPEAKER_01]: They just have the imperial creed and something else underneath it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we're good.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway,
[SPEAKER_01]: Perego felt differently, and without any declaration, by the way, shows up.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's a bunch of salamanders on a high-f world called new folly, five companies of salamanders.
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Perigo shows up with three full orders of sisters, which is bigger, by the way.
[SPEAKER_01]: So those three sisters are bigger than five companies.
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot.
[SPEAKER_01]: And giant, yeah, and a giant army of faith.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they're attacking.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Salamander's initially don't want to fight against the imperements.
[SPEAKER_01]: They start retreating.
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, hey, look, all right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just get back to four to face, back to four occasions.
[SPEAKER_01]: Perigo then declares the whole plan as heretical.
[SPEAKER_00]: Which this, and that's where he asked up,
[SPEAKER_00]: He decides that they're just going to wreck the whole place and the salamanders are not who with them, trashing the entire planet and all, again, they're going to protect the kill.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, the innocence.
[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, we were just going to leave.
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
[SPEAKER_00]: No.
[SPEAKER_00]: It going out like that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the seven meters now counterattack into the scissors in the army of faith.
[SPEAKER_01]: And you get this massive pitched battle, which ends hilariously because while this whole thing's happening, the inquisition had realized goages and issue and had and saw that perigo, a perigo, no, her tells his name, had left, respectively the protection of goages.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now he's not on terror anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they sent an inquisitorial agent there.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the quizzitorial agent is in the assassin.
[SPEAKER_01]: And Perek no is killed.
[SPEAKER_01]: Quizzitorial agent, Perek no is killed.
[SPEAKER_01]: The fighting stops because it's like, they basically say, yeah, they go to the sisters.
[SPEAKER_01]: That guy was a heretic.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the fighting season.
[SPEAKER_00]: Which has to be such a wacky thing of, oh, so this is awkward.
[SPEAKER_00]: So my bad, we'll see you later.
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you're still showing up for Christmas.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, some matters do take part in some of more of the fighting during this the Gochvander era, but they, it ends, they start rebuilding.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a 2,000 years of rebuilding.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually during this rebuilding that the Black Dragons are done.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're first founding.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're first, we have a successor chapter, and we'll talk more about them in a minute.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not bad, just didn't go great.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then M39, work him as back.
[SPEAKER_01]: Orch Warlord, Rook Rippa.
[SPEAKER_01]: Here is with three space hulks, and Rook Rippa's just cool as hell.
[SPEAKER_00]: Just letting you know that I showed everybody, I paid the number three for John.
[SPEAKER_00]: No one can see me do this.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to make sure that you have never stopped using hand gestures and other things when no one can see.
[SPEAKER_00]: Book and tini.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's kind of, you're just in your little dungeon, doing your own thing, doing the whole fit for tree falls in the woods, and then we can hear it.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's bread.
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, three space hulks appear.
[SPEAKER_01]: The salamanders are the closest, and they rush to help out.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is how we do this, though, because they send teleport assaults from terminators inside the space hulks.
[SPEAKER_00]: Man, this is crazy, because again, space hulks are not just big ships.
[SPEAKER_00]: Space hulks are massive, massive.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the problem is that because it's salamanders.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is why it's a high casualty rate.
[SPEAKER_01]: These space hulks have appeared in this system.
[SPEAKER_01]: These space hulks are going to demolish.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to tell you, I'm going to demolish the local population.
[SPEAKER_01]: If the salamanders don't do something about this, just
[SPEAKER_01]: huge issue.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Salamers, go, all right, we can't blow the spakes, hooks up from them just the outside.
[SPEAKER_01]: We've had double hit them inside and outside.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they send to Brad's point terminators inside where it is all of the yorks, by the way, so they know that they're probably not coming back.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is if you haven't watched it much secret level, they have a similar mission where they don't think they're coming back.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is what they're sending.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, this is why marines are also badass because they do
[SPEAKER_01]: blow up the spacehawks, and, in fact, we say the population, but the orcs aren't done.
[SPEAKER_01]: The orcs decide, all right, I've lost my spacehawks, because Ruck rip a realizes, hey, I need to have all the orcs behind me, and so I got to show off.
[SPEAKER_01]: So then he goes, I don't need my spacehawks.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go destroy this city, and this is like it's part just about a story.
[SPEAKER_01]: They land, it's an ecclesiarch planet.
[SPEAKER_01]: They land and begin to be lying towards the main center.
[SPEAKER_01]: as they're rushing through the city.
[SPEAKER_01]: They don't notice two key things.
[SPEAKER_01]: One, there's no one in the city.
[SPEAKER_01]: Except for some defenders.
[SPEAKER_00]: So I would say if you're going to number these, number two would be slightly more important because that would be the smell of promirium everywhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everywhere.
[SPEAKER_01]: the salamanders planned for this and they'd evacuated the populace and the people in this city were effectively suicide fighters who were sitting and they knew they were going to die and their job was to keep drawing the orcs in.
[SPEAKER_01]: Once you're going to get to the center of the city, the salamages had filled every gutter and all of the sewer is basically anywhere you could get promietium to flow with promietium which again is an actual thing in reality and a different thing in 40k.
[SPEAKER_01]: You can look up Promethium, you have to Google Promethium or Promethium 40K because they're the same word, different things.
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, even 40K is way cooler.
[SPEAKER_00]: Continue.
[SPEAKER_01]: It is.
[SPEAKER_00]: They like the whole city on fire and it goes big boom, big bottom boom.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so go Salamanders, but still not done.
[SPEAKER_01]: Another 2,000 years go by that doing well.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're building up and this time the high lords of terror come calling.
[SPEAKER_01]: But not in a bad way.
[SPEAKER_01]: Usually when you say high lords of terror come calling, it means that you're all gonna die.
[SPEAKER_01]: No, the high lords of terror had a special mission that really only the Salamanders could do.
[SPEAKER_01]: Jeans dealer Colt have a reason in what's called the Immargled Sector.
[SPEAKER_01]: And this is a really important sector.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's got a lot of imperial.
[SPEAKER_01]: Manufacturing all this stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: They cannot afford to send the death watch.
[SPEAKER_01]: They cannot afford to send the恶ters because they will destroy these planets.
[SPEAKER_01]: They needed to send a chapter that would get here and purge the genes.
[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll dig while digs them out.
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is they don't want this everybody else that would have came here and have been like this place is clearly corrupted.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just make it not a place anymore.
[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone else would have just gone, well that plan is likely in the map any further.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: This place is screened.
[SPEAKER_01]: See you later.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, problem solved.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so did Salamander spend two years on Your margul and the moons around it hunting down every last piece the geosicle and this is not usually because the patriarchs of the Your margul are kind of super patriarchs.
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean the broodlords patriarchs.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're sure and
[SPEAKER_01]: This is not easy to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: This sound may take massive losses, but they are successful.
[SPEAKER_01]: They do, the second company is effectively removed because it's encouraging, but they solve it, which is cool as shit.
[SPEAKER_01]: But unfortunately, five years later, nocturn gets invaded.
[SPEAKER_00]: out of nowhere by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, a warpsmith.
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he's pretty awesome because he's got soul smelter.
[SPEAKER_01]: He's a nameable.
[SPEAKER_01]: His name is soul smelter, which is just good job.
[SPEAKER_01]: Usually crap on jeep out for the naming mechanics.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like soul smelter.
[SPEAKER_01]: Soul smelters are good for a like for a warpsmith.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a good one.
[SPEAKER_01]: And, yeah, this is an altar.
[SPEAKER_00]: This is basically where we're on the game, on the table itself, because they're evading a demonic incursions going in a nocturn, and nocturn's on the verge of falling.
[SPEAKER_00]: chapter master agrees, hey, man, we should stop fighting with with one hand tied behind our back and open up the armory, the real armory and the rally Giants.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's the princess bride where he's the fighting left handed.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm actually not, let's hand it and then they flipped those like they grab all of the master crafted weapons.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're just hanging out by the way on
[SPEAKER_00]: Y'all like, hey man, why are we using this stuff all the time?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, at what I like about this, by the way, is that after they're done, they collect all the demon engines and what's left is Soul Smelters' body, shove it into something and fire it into their sun.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, just because f-u-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-
[SPEAKER_01]: From there, one of the greatest more, we can skip the bedab work, because we covered that enough, but I also wanna cover the wars of Armageddon, the second and the third.
[SPEAKER_01]: And in both of these, the salamanders play really critical roles, but in a goofy way.
[SPEAKER_01]: So, Second War of Armageddon is Gossgoal's first appearance.
[SPEAKER_01]: He leads his incredible orconvasion into the world armageddon, which is the segmentum solar, which is- Does this actually- Actually, it's all in our- It was all in our, which was not in segmentum solar, but the mechanical teleported it, to the segmentum solar, to A, make it easier from the pillage, the org technology, and B, to make it look like they did blow up all in order that they were told to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, gas comes in like a freight train to the system and is wrecking shop, and to the credit of the imperium they handle it well.
[SPEAKER_01]: They send blood angels, ultra-marines, imperial guards, they learn from war of the beast.
[SPEAKER_01]: We are not having that happen again.
[SPEAKER_01]: and it's pretty quickly obvious the blood angels and the ultramarines decide this ward ends now and they're just firing every the cannon and don't care about the collateral damage.
[SPEAKER_01]: They also seem to care about the citizenry that are there.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so the citizens who are in the Armageddon sector, which is a massive hyphro by the way,
[SPEAKER_01]: are really up the creep without a paddle, because they're either getting attacked by orcs or getting attacked by orcs who then get attacked by the Imperium, which then blows them up.
[SPEAKER_00]: Until and also, but to be fair, also, you've got a lot of people that are not being protected, because of the fact that it doesn't make tactical sense if you're trying to break the specific, you know, hey, we need to kind of have the snake.
[SPEAKER_00]: So people like Bobby G. Just go,
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I thought in Bobby Johnson.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was saying, Scout, I'm saying, but it's a people like Bobby G. Because the Germans, they're making those decisions of, yes, is a bad for the populist, doesn't make technical sense, though, for, you know, us.
[SPEAKER_00]: The accelerators took offense to that and said, hey, man, we should probably not let trillions of people die to achieve what I'm doing.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not really a cool move, and that's exactly, and the salamiders take up a rear guard action.
[SPEAKER_01]: They start protecting the shipping lanes.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're organizing evacuations.
[SPEAKER_01]: They actually shield the impurities that citizens from harm.
[SPEAKER_01]: Losing a ton in this process, because what's cool about this story is that after the war concludes, the bloody angels and the altruists have a ton of glory from it.
[SPEAKER_01]: The writings talk about this.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the people of the imperialists, especially all this region, love the salamanders, because all these stories start coming out about how the salamanders would keep the orcs at bay in less defended areas.
[SPEAKER_01]: They would also, because they were there, the bladials, and the altruians wouldn't just orbital bombard them, type scenario.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so all these people survive.
[SPEAKER_01]: 58 years later, though, gas returns.
[SPEAKER_01]: and because he wants it again, this time the salamanders are much more aggressive because the Salamists send in all of the Salamists, all seven companies are deployed in Armageddon Part Three.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I like this part because in the first one they were really famous for saving the citizenry and they decide we're just going to do that again, but even more so.
[SPEAKER_01]: First thing they do is they all seven companies come in and this basically blunts the assault of gas, buying time for the other space marines to get there.
[SPEAKER_01]: When the other space marines get there though, the salamanders start to go back to this rear guard action trying to protect shipping lanes, saving everybody.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's saying, look, you guys, you guys want your glory, you'll get your stupid glory.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to make sure that this world is still salvageable when this war is over.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the coolest story, one of the coolest stories of it.
[SPEAKER_01]: is the Salamander's actually have a little bit of a mini civil war during this.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's another chapter who's called the Marines of a Levelin, which is a name for a loyalist chapter by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: I was just to say, you know, like so you actually named your guys the Bad Marines got it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the Marines' malevolent are guarding a sector.
[SPEAKER_01]: And in that sector, there's a refugee camp.
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's Orcs coming down near the refugee camp.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the Marines' malevolent just say, yeah, that's not really worth our time.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they just allow the Orcs to run out.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, they say like, if we could go fight before they get there, or we could just let them kill those guys, and they'll all be sitting there.
[SPEAKER_01]: We could just bomb them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which they orbitedly bombard them after the orcs water all right.
[SPEAKER_00]: In two shan said, yeah, I took offense to that.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, two shans that chapter mass of the Salamanders discovers this.
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, the current and doesn't really care for this.
[SPEAKER_01]: So he rushes over to the captain of the Marine's malevolent starts dressing him down.
[SPEAKER_01]: The Captain Marine's malevolent replies back with a wild, eyewaste forces on these humans.
[SPEAKER_01]: knock some of the ground, actually strikes him, which is that's big, and the only reason that a full blown civil war doesn't break out is because, and this is in the imperial hierarchy, a first founding chapter has rank, and so the Marines malevolent do not want to get to do an engagement with the Salamanders because they know who everyone's going to side with.
[SPEAKER_00]: And it's also tough when your stance is, yeah, it was inconvenient for me to save people.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and the other guys just like, I want to kill you for that.
[SPEAKER_01]: So cool story on the sound, I said, that's gets us about two modern 40k.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is where they did, but again, both wars of army getting catastrophic losses.
[SPEAKER_01]: wars with the goge losses, all this stuff.
[SPEAKER_01]: So they're still struggling.
[SPEAKER_01]: We get to M41 and the salamanders are still a tiny chapter.
[SPEAKER_01]: They actually technically they should be less than a thousand of them because they haven't had a second founding.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then we get the ultimate founding.
[SPEAKER_00]: By the way, the code exustarnings is still the pirate code because so many of these
[SPEAKER_00]: You're supposed to have 1,000 rings, and that would be a convenient.
[SPEAKER_01]: But now with the ultimate founding, the salamanders have four more come out.
[SPEAKER_01]: So now we get to six totally of salamanders and five successors.
[SPEAKER_01]: they've all heavily primarist.
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you're building a salamander army, you actually have more primarist than we almost anybody else.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, maybe they're the blood angels of the two.
[SPEAKER_01]: Because the blood goes got wrecked, and then they got a bunch of primarists, but just for the record.
[SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk a, there's a reason that there's a story called the devastation of ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it didn't go well.
[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't the slightly inconvenient time of ball.
[SPEAKER_01]: I do love that story, though, with Cobbanda and then there's going, I'm fighting with you for now, but it's so I can take your money kills, but ages, but me.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's just a great moment.
[SPEAKER_01]: But let's talk.
[SPEAKER_01]: I want to close this out, talk about the successor chapters themselves, because you will see the monocation.
[SPEAKER_01]: One of them is specific, first of all, start with black dragons.
[SPEAKER_01]: Our rather unique looking.
[SPEAKER_01]: So black dragons.
[SPEAKER_01]: Black dragons are called a cursed founding.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, a cursed founding doesn't mean it's turn trader.
[SPEAKER_01]: A cursed founding just means something's jacked with the
[SPEAKER_00]: I know it's called, I don't like the fact that it's called cursed, it's just, hey, there's just a clue from the gene C. They just have a mutation.
[SPEAKER_00]: So, it's a clue, look at the mutation, y'all.
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, let's, I think we both know why I'm going to get the crap on this.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the black dragons, their cursed gene C causes them to grow a crest on their head, you know, like, thing on lizards, not something any amphibian has, which, again,
[SPEAKER_00]: Let it go, let it go.
[SPEAKER_01]: They got this crest on their head, but they've also got these sharp bones that grow out of their forearms.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I realized they look just like Baraka from Mortal Kombat.
[SPEAKER_01]: So then I had to look that up and yeah, Mortal Kombat predates this lore.
[SPEAKER_01]: Not saying it's an IP violation intentionally, just hinting that it is.
[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
[SPEAKER_01]: not every black dragon has the baraka arm swords, only some of them do.
[SPEAKER_00]: The ones that have the dragon claws, my friend.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, they are assigned almost like death company, but not with the negative, like, oh, well, you're all going to be dead in like seven hours, since.
[SPEAKER_01]: But they move into their own group within the black dragon called the dragon claws.
[SPEAKER_00]: But, by the way, they consistently move away from the inquisition, because the acquisition constantly is investigating them, because they look like they're casputated, and yes, they're super loyal, and so they never, well, they're also super weird though, hold on.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just that they look casputated.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're high-chat.
[SPEAKER_00]: They have a couple eccentricities about how they go about.
[SPEAKER_01]: They've got the high chaplain who's kind of runs the whole thing, sits on a throne of bones.
[SPEAKER_01]: They have, they have their rights of the bone, rights of the claw.
[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, the people who have the bone appendages get their armor modifies, everyone can see, they've got these extra bone appendages, which for the record, it's just bone.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not as sharp or as tough as any of the melee weapons the space marine's carry.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's pointless.
[SPEAKER_01]: But it looks delicious.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it looks cool as hell, but whatever, that's the black dragons.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are, but that being said, it does give you an option.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you have the ability to have the green stuff or 3D print, you can make some pretty cool looking blocks.
[SPEAKER_00]: I have mantles on the back of them.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: And they did one of the lures.
[SPEAKER_01]: They did get a bunch of primarismarines.
[SPEAKER_01]: They then added in the black dragon, gency, and they all grew in the spurs as well.
[SPEAKER_01]: So you can do it with primarismarines.
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, after them, I want to move on to the iron drakes and the hammers of nocturn, really quickly, because there's nothing on them.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's two of these.
[SPEAKER_01]: The hammers of nocturn have a really cool name, but they're both, they're in the Codex listed as one, but that's about it.
[SPEAKER_01]: Unlike the Black Vipers, who have one of my favorite paint schemes, which is a dark red with black.
[SPEAKER_01]: I just like how that looks, let's me.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the history is that their salamanders
[SPEAKER_00]: This was jacked.
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to spend time on these guys, but these are the, yeah, you like the paint scheme, but these guys don't even know what it's like to be a salamander Besides watching like that intro tape that you get that HR set you to watch because the guy that was sent to teach the class, the chaplain never shows up.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's why I like it because they didn't apply something.
[SPEAKER_01]: I like this story.
[SPEAKER_01]: So when Call made all the primarism rings, he's notified all the chapters.
[SPEAKER_01]: On all the chapters, it is they sent their chaplains to go meet with these new primarism rings and teach them all about the history of their chapter.
[SPEAKER_01]: The one who was sent to meet with the black fibers never arrived.
[SPEAKER_01]: And so they are selling manders in Gene's seed only.
[SPEAKER_01]: The reason this is interesting to me
[SPEAKER_01]: are most commonly seen near call because he wanted to use these guys.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thousand percent.
[SPEAKER_00]: Why about this?
[SPEAKER_00]: It's fine, but there's so not salibate where he's got their calls.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_00]: personal marine force that he uses.
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's why I like it because you have the miniatars.
[SPEAKER_01]: We don't know where they came from.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're not really sure where the car carodonts came from.
[SPEAKER_01]: There's a few other that fall into these categories.
[SPEAKER_01]: These ones we know where they came from.
[SPEAKER_01]: But then calls like, yeah, but I just want to keep some for myself and the salamanders are really good at fighting.
[SPEAKER_01]: So how about I just do that?
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know what, you know who is cool.
[SPEAKER_00]: It knows what it is like to be a salamander.
[SPEAKER_00]: The coveted fire.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's coming to fire cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: So these ones learned about the Promethian cult and the show, we are all in on this non-stop.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is my favorite thing, and it's amazing.
[SPEAKER_01]: So coming to fire and over two things, burning heretics and more burning of heretics.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's all that they want to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: They are obsessed also with the Salamers, like all the successor chapters of every space marine
[SPEAKER_01]: The number one fanboy of their founding chapter is the covenant of fire towards us, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes,
[SPEAKER_01]: But they're super cool.
[SPEAKER_01]: So coming to fire, they actually join he stand when he's on his adventures to find the artifacts of Vulcan.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're always seeking out the lore about their own founding chapter anywhere, along with anything just kind of imperial lore wise, but the fun part of them, they're a little itchy with the flamer trigger figure.
[SPEAKER_00]: why you shouldn't be a heretic, you wouldn't have had burn.
[SPEAKER_00]: They also burn anything.
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, man, that looks like it has something that seems heretical on it.
[SPEAKER_00]: Better be safe, burn.
[SPEAKER_01]: And I like this.
[SPEAKER_01]: The inquisition don't hate them, but they don't like them, because the English will be on the trail of some, to uncover some great, like, heresy, some great, you know, mystery, and they hit a dead end because the covenant of fire had been there and burnt everything.
[SPEAKER_01]: Does the coalition want to see it?
[SPEAKER_01]: They just went, anything with this and wouldn't want to see this, burn it.
[SPEAKER_01]: So I like them.
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go to the next one.
[SPEAKER_00]: These guys are one of my tops and successors on this, but there's not that many.
[SPEAKER_00]: Dragon Spears.
[SPEAKER_00]: I just...
[SPEAKER_00]: I like these guys quite a bit because they've got some pretty good stories.
[SPEAKER_01]: They're in a lot of... Because they were with the space walls.
[SPEAKER_01]: We both know the real reason.
[SPEAKER_00]: 100%.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not like you set that up any further than that.
[SPEAKER_01]: I know we're showing these guys are the most important ones everyone should like them the most Oh, they and they happen to spend time with space wolves.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's not important.
[UNKNOWN]: Oh
[SPEAKER_01]: such a homer.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, the Dragon Spears are super cool because they before they join the Salamanders for whatever reason they were fighting next to the Spacels for a while in an area called the Naryan Reef to stop an orc incursion.
[SPEAKER_01]: So the Dragon Spears are expert orc hunters which is kind of normal and makes them a great addition to the death watch.
[SPEAKER_01]: But there's nothing to do.
[SPEAKER_01]: They eat their debt, which is odd, and GW does call it endocannibalism, which is the correct term for this, but it's still weird.
[SPEAKER_01]: So endocannibalism, if you don't know, that's not like when you eat a body.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's when like you have someone die, and then you cremate them, and then you like sprinkle the cremation on top of a hot dog, and it
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's right.
[SPEAKER_01]: If you didn't listen to our episode where we mocked the GNC system pretty hard.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so space marines and croot both can absorb the memories of something by eating it.
[SPEAKER_01]: GW has written about this almost never because it's...
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure in 1988 was a really cool idea, but now it's just lame, but you can't even say the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the head of the
[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to the, sorry, I'm getting ready for I can only assume you were tired, drank too much caffeine right before bed, and then just got super psyched up about who I am.
[SPEAKER_01]: Dark Crackens.
[SPEAKER_01]: No.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're doing the purple squids.
[SPEAKER_01]: We are doing purple squids of 40k.
[SPEAKER_01]: The dark crackdowns rock.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's at the stories like your hilarity.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a weird, it's just a weird story.
[SPEAKER_00]: It is a crack and wild white dwarf that came out.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they just went, hey, this is what's going on.
[SPEAKER_00]: You're like, what?
[SPEAKER_00]: What?
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, white dwarf 466 for the record, the dark crackings come from, this makes no sense by the way, because they're a primarist successor, but they also come from a world called noctis, how we got this world, don't know, what about the history of noctis?
[SPEAKER_01]: Not much, except for this one thing.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's basically an ocean world with one island.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's New Zealand, and it's not going to be great, it's basically you have New Zealand and then the globe.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the ocean is just badass.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's made of biote.
[SPEAKER_00]: There's no reason to be here by the way.
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I live in the middle of monster sea creatures that only want to kill you.
[SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, we're setting up shop here, man.
[SPEAKER_01]: You missed the part.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's bioluminescent megafaun.
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, low wing giant sea predator.
[SPEAKER_01]: My bad.
[SPEAKER_01]: And the native population settled it, and they just hunt the animals for sport and food because, of course, they do.
[SPEAKER_01]: But the dark crackins, who are the local space marine chapter there, also do that when they're bored.
[SPEAKER_01]: They go into the ocean and hunt down the giant predators.
[SPEAKER_01]: Then, to make things even weirder, the dark crackins paint fish emojis all over their armor and their vehicles, like a hammer.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just no reason.
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, this has no resources that you want, think it also, and it makes no sense because you're looking at, you're looking at white dwarf and what are the secretures they're doing?
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a hammer head shark, a lobster claw, a sea snake.
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a planet millions of light years from Earth and somehow has all the same fish.
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just they're still.
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, they use different terms, they actually don't call themselves sergeants, they call themselves like, like, it's something like on the hammer head of the chapter, like it is so wild and weird, but I have to give the white dwarf credit because they wrote something really stupid and weird and I'm like, all right, I'm in, let's do this.
[SPEAKER_01]: So.
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, that we close with some force.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's a good place to stop.
[SPEAKER_01]: So next week, we'll be Christmas.
[SPEAKER_01]: So we want to go hard.
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just the number one requested thing we've had in the discord.
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to do Lieutenant Captain, back to Lieutenant, back to Captain Demetrius Titus.
[SPEAKER_01]: Who's base marines?
[SPEAKER_01]: Space marines one and two.
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it's going to be one episode or two.
[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't written a word of it yet.
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's a zero chance.
[SPEAKER_00]: that this is going to be one episode when you have two video games worth of stuff and multiple short stories.
[SPEAKER_00]: You'll be surprised.
[SPEAKER_00]: Alright, Joey, I got bored.
[SPEAKER_01]: Titus was here, Titus is over there now.
[SPEAKER_01]: Look, Titus is traitor, Titus, not traitor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Titus, maybe still traitor.
[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely, Titus, not traitor.
[SPEAKER_01]: There you go, that's the entire two guests.
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kidding, guys, that makes you excited for this one.
[SPEAKER_01]: Titus is super badass, because, you know, why?
[SPEAKER_01]: He's an ultra-marine.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's right, you're gonna get too fast.
[SPEAKER_01]: That's exactly why.
[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that would be fun.
[SPEAKER_01]: So until next week, John Barzati, Brad Jester.
[SPEAKER_01]: Discard.
[SPEAKER_01]: Take everybody.
[UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
