00:01:03
Speaker 1: Oh wow?

00:01:04
Speaker 5: Really?

00:01:04
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, oh yeah I did too, I had I had quite a few, actually, Oh my gosh.

00:01:12
Speaker 1: We went through.

00:01:14
Speaker 4: We went to Hermosa, to our usual Mexican spot on Sunday.

00:01:19
Speaker 5: Did you almost break your neck again?

00:01:21
Speaker 1: I was just in my head like us, yes.

00:01:25
Speaker 5: I'm still waiting for you to send a voice snow.

00:01:27
Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yeah, yes, like there was that.

00:01:31
Speaker 4: There was a moment where that I swear they were these They had to ben twins and they were old.

00:01:37
Speaker 1: They weren't. They were not young people. They were old.

00:01:40
Speaker 4: And I was like, holy moly, they have to be former volleyball, current volleyball enthusiasts.

00:01:47
Speaker 1: Yeah. They came walking in there, long and strong.

00:01:52
Speaker 6: Man.

00:01:52
Speaker 1: It was back. No really, not really. Not my eyes my eyes as well.

00:02:00
Speaker 4: Hey look look, look, you gotta you gotta be able to read and react. My eyes will as as long as the Good Lord above fields it fit for my eyes to work. They will work. They will work. It just won't get carried away. But I was in my head like, yes, well, hey man, weather starting to uh start to warm up.

00:02:23
Speaker 1: Yes it is.

00:02:24
Speaker 4: I've never really frequent that area when it was warm out. I've always, you know, the few times that we started, it's been in the wintertime. So I'm pretty curious as to what full out, full blown summer looks like on that little boardwalk area. You know, I only imagine. Nah, I don't want to imagine. I just I'm curious, all right.

00:02:45
Speaker 1: You know what this weekend though clubs Augusta National.

00:02:49
Speaker 4: Yeah, God, you too, Mark, every time, you too.

00:02:54
Speaker 1: Huh.

00:02:55
Speaker 4: This is the last time I have to hear the the wake music though, everybody until next year. Everyone out there that's listening that our Dan Patrick listeners. I call this at the Wake music by.

00:03:12
Speaker 1: Him? Him? Did this song at the wake? You know who wrote this song?

00:03:17
Speaker 4: I don't know. I don't know, but this is the viewing. Like you in the funeral home. You're saying hi to everyone, good to see you. Haven't seen you in twenty years. It's great to see you. There was a fine person. Then you go up to the box and you look in the box and you say you're final, goodbyes.

00:03:34
Speaker 1: That's this music.

00:03:35
Speaker 5: You know, I've got your answer. By the way, who is it who we got?

00:03:38
Speaker 7: The iconic Master Golf tournament theme song titled Augusta was written and recorded by singer songwriter Dave Loggins back in nineteen eighty one.

00:03:50
Speaker 1: Jenny, Yeah, there you go, all right?

00:03:52
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's his cousin, third cousin though, what do you go Dave, third cousin on his daddy sat looking like hey, by the.

00:03:59
Speaker 7: Way, he actually is a cousin of Kenny go highway to the danger zone.

00:04:06
Speaker 1: There you go, hie.

00:04:08
Speaker 7: They could be further apart by the way, ones get you jacked up to go in a fighter jet to go fight the other ones came down.

00:04:18
Speaker 2: I think Kenny Loggins did the What's why why am I blanket? On the Caddyshack theme song? So Kenny Logins did that one as well too, so very uh, very golf centric. Are those Logins boys good for that man?

00:04:32
Speaker 1: All right? Now?

00:04:34
Speaker 4: I won't have any problems with Rory winning the Masters, No, I mean I didn't. Jonas is a hater and he's going to find a way to to uh devalue the fact that his guy that he picked out of the hask, one which I wanted Harry, I wanted r By the way I want it.

00:04:57
Speaker 1: For people that know on our show was the favorite.

00:05:00
Speaker 2: We draw names out of a hat and then that's how we determined who's going to win the Masters or who were going to be rooting for to win the Masters.

00:05:06
Speaker 1: I pulled Rory. I didn't think he could go back to back.

00:05:09
Speaker 2: I didn't I'm sure surely didn't think he could potentially go wire to wire, even though he coughed up the lead uh six shot going into the weekend. But I mean, congratulations, Uh, Scotty Scheffler's unbelievable.

00:05:23
Speaker 1: And I knew once Scotti what hey, what happened?

00:05:26
Speaker 5: Yeah?

00:05:26
Speaker 4: Thanks Mark, Dave? Thanks thanks Mark, Hey Dave, you're still playing? Oh God, Jesus, Really, if that was Kenny, he would have continued on Mark, come on, man, we got the wrong loggins. But when Scotty Scheffler miss When Scotti Scheffler missed the uh, I think it was like his third straight birdie attempt.

00:05:51
Speaker 2: I think on seventeen you could tell he knew, yeah, that's a big one, that that was going to cost him and ultimately uh lost by I.

00:06:01
Speaker 7: Think one of the things that I appreciate the most about that tournament. I mean, one, it's the same course, it's Christine. We've talked about all that. Also, there's a big scoreboard on seventeen, so when you're walking up you know exactly where you are and where you need to be. So as he's approaching seventeen, like Scotty knows what he needs to do, and on top of that, for Rory when he gets there, he's got an idea of where.

00:06:27
Speaker 5: They're at too.

00:06:28
Speaker 7: Now you can always say, hey, people might be you know, telling them what the scores are at or keeping him aware of it. But it's another thing too to kind of look up, see the scoreboard, see who's kind of marching in behind. Because you did get a sense at one point, I want to say it was maybe after twelve or thirteen that Scotty.

00:06:43
Speaker 5: Had a shot and he was making a run.

00:06:45
Speaker 7: It would have been interesting to see what Rory would have done or responded if Scotty could have tied it up, got even closer. I think he got closest within one shot maybe.

00:06:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, one shot but not enough. No, I thought it was.

00:07:00
Speaker 4: Here were my takeaways. The fact that Rory joined three other three other golfers major gold golfers and Nicholas Faldo and obviously Eldrick.

00:07:12
Speaker 1: Uh only four players?

00:07:15
Speaker 5: Better include Ilude.

00:07:17
Speaker 1: Eldrick, Eldrick taunt Woods.

00:07:21
Speaker 4: Uh, you better include Waymo next time and Waymouh Eldrick's Eldrick's Archie nemesis, somebody that's going to get them home safely on the road. They actually are the only ones to ever repeat out Augusta, which led me to my my next takeaway, which was the fact that Rory had to come into this this situation knowing what the pressure was to to obviously repeat be a completess of of the Grand Grand Grand Slams. I thought it was pretty interesting because the mental I can only imagine as a football player, former football player, the stress and feelings you had mentally before a game. How that feels, especially the bigger the games get. But you're by yourself and golf, right, it's you versus the course. It's you versus your equipment, it's you versus your swing, it's you versus It's just so many different things that you got to take into consideration. And the fact that he managed it in a way where having such a dominant start but then eventually almost giving it away. I mean, like we said, he only won by one stroke, so I thought that was pretty impressive. And listen, I watched it, but I didn't watch it right like I had it on. But it's just I don't know, it feels like this music. It feels like I should have this music playing when I'm watching it.

00:08:52
Speaker 2: I think the most noteworthy bit about Rory winning this weekend was the fact that he was able to overcome that all full Master's dinner that he put together. Awful, I mean, and way to take a shot at Ireland, you know, and say, well, you know, I wanted them to enjoy it too. That's why it included any Irish dishes. It's just disrespectful. But he was able to persevere and next thing you know, he's got the Green Jackiet again.

00:09:18
Speaker 1: So congratulations story.

00:09:20
Speaker 7: So I do want to bring to light one thing, and this is probably one of the things that a lot of.

00:09:24
Speaker 5: The haters had an issue with.

00:09:27
Speaker 7: So Mark or Patty Sweet, if you could there's some sound after Warrior, I believe was already up at that minus twelve. Mark, maybe after day two or day three, if you could play it.

00:09:37
Speaker 2: Yeah, as long as we take his music off, come on, Dave's in his in his groove right now.

00:09:42
Speaker 1: You talk like you know him. Is he even still alive?

00:09:45
Speaker 3: Dave Loggins, I honestly just don't like the three tournaments leading up to this event. Yeah, I'd rather come up here, you know. I did a couple of days where I.

00:09:55
Speaker 1: Dropped Poppy to school, flew up.

00:09:57
Speaker 6: Here, played, landed back home and had dinner with or had dinner with Eric, and probably like I did a couple of day trips like that where I felt like that was a better use of my time then going to Houston or San Antonio. So it wasn't really about conserving energy, but I just I felt, you know, the more time I could spend up here, the better.

00:10:18
Speaker 7: So this is the issue that some purest some people have with it, is you're a part of the PJ Tour. Yeah, you're going to take off, you know, a few weeks ahead of time, basically to prepare for the majors. And and I guess golf's unique in the sense that we oftentimes don't remember guys who win a lot of tournaments.

00:10:36
Speaker 5: We remember guys who went a.

00:10:37
Speaker 7: Lot of the Big four, right, all of the major tournaments. Like that's what we like remember the most, for that's what their legacies are built off of. And I think there's some people who feel like it's a bit unfair if he's able to pull himself out of these other tournaments and then has access has the ability to just essentially prepare for.

00:10:57
Speaker 5: A major like this.

00:10:59
Speaker 7: I mean I look at it and just say, I'm not really sure there's an equivalent in any other professional sport where you could do something like this.

00:11:06
Speaker 5: Maybe you'd say it would be like joining an.

00:11:08
Speaker 7: NFL team in the AFC Championship Game and playing a game or two, or maybe just a Super Bowl and getting a ring. Like maybe that's the equivalent of how you'd look at this, But oh, Eric, I tend to think, what's that, Eric Weddle.

00:11:21
Speaker 4: It's even a little different than that, though, because if you're preparing for a golf a golf outing, you get to prepare against the course. Now maybe you don't know the weather conditions could be different, but the terrain of it most likely, I mean obviously like the curves and the bins and all that stuff like that. I mean, that's you get to prepare for something like if it's the NFL, it's by wins, right, So you really, if you think about it, you would what do you say, like two to three weeks to prepare?

00:11:50
Speaker 1: Is that what he was saying?

00:11:51
Speaker 7: And like I said, he was and by the way, not a lot of other golfers have the ability to necessarily do that, either the access or just the the ability to kind of do whatever they want, and he's one of the few that does right now because he's been such a big piece of basically keeping the PGA Tour together, in particular during a time where you were having guys plucked away by the live tour. He is he has stood as on the road. He's kept the he's kept the whole thing together to the point where now the PGA Tour has been able to survive us.

00:12:21
Speaker 5: So I just I look at it.

00:12:24
Speaker 7: I look at it, and I just say to myself, you know, this is one of those instances where I don't have an issue with it. I think the course sets up well for Rory. I thought he looked more relaxed. He's played probably his best golf in a major event compared to years past, because he did feel like he had that monkey on his back, and once he got it off last year, it looked like he's finally playing up to his capabilities.

00:12:46
Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought I thought it was interesting because when you get to that one stretch, well, they said the twelve thirteenth for him, where he birdied birdie back to back, and then.

00:12:58
Speaker 1: The idea of it is.

00:13:00
Speaker 4: That's that moment where do you do you stop the bleeding or do you or do you bleed out and let the field catch you and run run over you?

00:13:11
Speaker 1: And then next.

00:13:12
Speaker 4: Thing you know is like, hey, you know he won the last one. It's no big deal. Keep it moving. That's what takes place, you golf guy. No, I'm really not a golf guy. Come on, I'm not a golf guy. But anyway, he did pull himself together, he did get it right, and it is clear, yes, as close as it was.

00:13:30
Speaker 2: Oh no, yes, no. By the way, Dave Loggins passed away in twenty twenty four. Wait or it in there you go. I'm just saying you're talking like you was on the phone.

00:13:43
Speaker 5: He's in studio. Well, I mean you're talking about.

00:13:46
Speaker 2: I mean, you know, since he passed the music keeping it going, I mean the music works.

00:13:56
Speaker 7: By the way, this is one of our favorite things to do on two pros and a couple of is send you on us up for failure by basically allowing him to say something about someone who we know is not alive.

00:14:06
Speaker 1: That's all right.

00:14:07
Speaker 4: You should see this man's two pay on the seven hundred club right now. Oh is that Pat Robinson's son, because he's sure enough at his head like geez Monetti's seven hundred club took a new meaning. Seven hundred pennies in your head? Why that's his head so big? Anyways, back to golf. We had a hole in one, sure did. There was a hole in one, sure did?

00:14:40
Speaker 1: How about it? Yeah? Sure did? Took place.

00:14:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, it was nicest toad. The weather didn't have an impact on it. There was no rainy days or anything like that to worry about. And you know, people just gotta sweat their ass off in Georgia and watch some high quality golf.

00:14:58
Speaker 4: There was almost a twenty five year old that one baby age young age you almost wanted.

00:15:08
Speaker 1: And guess what is now? His last name happens to be young? Oh Cam, how about it? How about it?

00:15:17
Speaker 4: Man? So you know there were there were some interesting storylines connected to the to the golf outing. Wasn't all born?

00:15:24
Speaker 2: Yeah?

00:15:25
Speaker 1: Well Rory winning though? Was that?

00:15:28
Speaker 4: I mean, I obviously I made it very clear I would have liked to pull Rory out of the hat.

00:15:33
Speaker 1: I did it.

00:15:33
Speaker 4: But it's a Jonas NOx show to everybody out there that's listening, like me and Brady are merely contributors and support to Jonas Uh the big star of the show. And well when Lynx and when Joni lynx Uh picked picked his player, you know, his his new and uh very very cooperative show producer, made sure that he got Rory McElroy.

00:15:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's just how it worked. Brady gave me that moniker years ago. We were talking golf and you know your stuff.

00:16:05
Speaker 7: No, what I recall is back when we used to have a guest that would come on named Live bet Jesus. He would always find a way, like, for example of live betting I don't know the masters with Rory before his final putt on eighteen. Basically he'd bet him to win it. Those would be the type of odds that typically Live Bet Jesus would would take place. It's it's irly similar to how Jonahs bets. Jonahs tries to get the favorites. There's never really a lot of value in a lot.

00:16:30
Speaker 5: Of his picks.

00:16:31
Speaker 7: He's just purely looking for anything he can try to hang his hat on, and somehow he still loses that often.

00:16:37
Speaker 4: Really sure how it happened, Oh right, Rory would have lost if bet Jesus bet on him winning that I live.

00:16:42
Speaker 1: I live. Bet Scottie Shaffley yesterday. There you go. Literally four minutes later, he misses a putt. Well, there you go. If I bet. If I bet a horse who had a two length lead to win the Kentucky.

00:16:54
Speaker 2: Derby, he would lose at back three. He'd get hit by a sniper before he got to the finish line. I can't win a bet. It's shocking.

00:17:01
Speaker 1: Look at that.

00:17:02
Speaker 7: You're gonna be walking in to work one day fully nude, because you're not gonna have any shirt on your back at this point.

00:17:08
Speaker 1: That's all right, you know, trying to say anything.

00:17:11
Speaker 5: LeVar is gonna look over at you and say what happened?

00:17:13
Speaker 7: No, Patty, Patty's gonna give you his hat. It's gonna cover up your entire body.

00:17:17
Speaker 1: I will not be doing the show. I will not be doing the.

00:17:21
Speaker 5: Show today, buddy.

00:17:26
Speaker 4: Oh by the way, happy happy birthday, Patty.

00:17:32
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:17:33
Speaker 1: How was your dinner, Patty, Patty? No, Hattie, Patty. I like that. That was really good dinner, though, guys, was it? Yeah? Honestly, Delilah's was a ten out of ten. That right, You went to Arby's.

00:17:44
Speaker 5: What I didn't see you went to Arby's. I thought you maybe had roast beef at some point, some chipped beef.

00:17:51
Speaker 1: No got the meats. Boom boom boom boom.

00:17:58
Speaker 2: No, no, no, man had some lobster roll had some pasta?

00:18:05
Speaker 1: Oh, lobster roll on?

00:18:08
Speaker 7: You had some crustaceans. What did you set? Someone's trying to set the mood there.

00:18:16
Speaker 1: Huh? Did you get on that liver loop a little bit?

00:18:18
Speaker 5: Yeah, a little bit?

00:18:19
Speaker 1: Yeah? I had some wine a little bit.

00:18:21
Speaker 5: It sounds romantic. Now, hold on, hold on, Patty, Who did you go with Lorena?

00:18:26
Speaker 1: Huh?

00:18:26
Speaker 5: Okay?

00:18:27
Speaker 1: Who else? Just me and her?

00:18:31
Speaker 5: All right?

00:18:31
Speaker 7: Oh?

00:18:32
Speaker 1: Really?

00:18:33
Speaker 5: Now had you been to Delilah's before?

00:18:35
Speaker 1: No, that's that would be a first for me. Who chose Delilahs Loreena? Actually, what I did tell you what?

00:18:54
Speaker 4: Biblically speaking, you do know what Delilah represents in the Bible right in the nineteen twenty the nineteen twenty that's the theme of that restaurant.

00:19:04
Speaker 1: No, bro, if.

00:19:07
Speaker 4: You don't know, you're going to be a victim before you were a victim, victimization is even better to witness.

00:19:13
Speaker 1: I don't know what you're talking about. Go read the Bible.

00:19:16
Speaker 5: Look up for I just hope you had a happy birthday, but too.

00:19:20
Speaker 1: And you're strong.

00:19:21
Speaker 4: You're built strong, like you can push columns down with no eyes in your heads, right burnt out.

00:19:27
Speaker 1: Don't worry about it over your head right now, biblical. Yeah, yeah, don't worry about it though. Man, looks like you're a strong young man. Bro.

00:19:35
Speaker 7: I'm preppy sure that you'd like to add there, Jonas, Man, you got Jonas just.

00:19:42
Speaker 5: To try to backpedal out of the situation. He's like, let me get to a read here. Yeah, I read.

00:19:49
Speaker 2: Hey, Hey, I just hope you had a good time, you know, but I just that's I'm sure he did. Yeah. Wow, well that's a great time.

According to Mike Reese of ESPN, Mike Rabel will now not take part in the pre draft press conference. And the whole little story that they gave everybody about friends were there, it was an innocent encounter, etc.

00:23:27
Speaker 1: Etc.

00:23:28
Speaker 2: That lasted for about thirty seconds before people realize this doesn't add up. And so now after the Athletic had Diana Rossini's back publicly and supported her publicly, now she will not be reporting. Her contract is also up this summer, so there's some speculation that maybe she's done reporting for them for good. And now Mike Rabel's going to go ahead and step away, which is probably the right move considering you step away, well, he's not going to be a part of the peage. Be very clear on that draft step away pre draft press conference.

00:24:01
Speaker 4: He's not going to be a part Diana Russini's step away is away, yeah period, Yeah, yeah, not Mike, Mike Vrabel. Rabel is going to not be a part of the pret pre draft press conference and anybody there, And look, it's not like anybody's gonna ask any what do you guys think about the the linebacker depth in this draft. No, they're gonna want to know what happened on the rooftop of Sonona. That's what they're gonna want to know. So probably a smart move for Mike Rabel. But the story that we were told and fed initially, uh and he the fart and church and here we are. But just be clear that the interview that you're speaking of has already come and gone right, like the story blew up, And there's supposed to be an interview, a pre draft interview where Mike Vrabel maybe talks about and highlights what it is that they're thinking about going into the draft. So you're talking about scenario where if it was as open shut as the coach initially made it sound, there's no problem with you being in front of the cameras and I would rather the media hear me and see me say there's nothing there. Can we talk about the predraft versus not doing the interview at all, and that to me, I feel like that creates more conversation behind everything that's being thrown out there. Then to me, I mean, it's going to happen either way, but don't change what you're doing is what I would.

00:25:44
Speaker 7: Say, Well, let me just ask you this, does this work in today's society?

00:25:49
Speaker 5: Because I tend to lean no.

00:25:52
Speaker 7: If something like this happens, I feel like you got to get out in front of it. You have to do more than just say it's laughable, because it seems like there's too much smoke there and pushing off a meeting with the media where you know you're going to be asked about it, and it only allows there to be more time where what was the I don't know if it's the Athletic or the New York Times. They're now hiring an investigator to look into it further.

00:26:17
Speaker 4: It's the Athletic, but the Athletic our own by the Times.

00:26:22
Speaker 7: Yeah, so, But the point is it only allows for there to be more time for the story to get legs drum up, more of whatever was going on, dig deeper into all of this, and so to think that it's not going to come up again, you're gonna be able to avoid it. It's impossible, not in today's news cycle. And I think you talked to most PR firms and people who give advice on this, they'd say to get out ahead of it, like you're allowing other people now to control the narrative with speculation and more photos and more videos.

00:26:54
Speaker 5: And everything else that comes from this.

00:26:56
Speaker 7: I mean, I can't tell you how many times I've been sent videos of Diana Rossini basically talking poorly about her husband, which leads to you worth speculation, and the way she'll sound at times makes it seem like, yeah, maybe this is someone who is looking for something else, but not even to go down that road, right, because like the manner in which they're handling it, I think you knew that New York Times are the athletic whoever want to point it was going to do something. But with the Patriots side of this, it's like, this isn't just gonna go away, and so at some point you have to stand up. You got to talk about it, and you're gonna have to make a statement about it in order to move past. And maybe you do. Maybe you don't know, Maybe it's always something that kind of hangs around, but that's the world we live in now. I just I think kicking the can down the road doesn't work anymore.

00:27:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, I.

00:27:44
Speaker 2: Don't know how at some point he's going to be asked about it, especially with that media and the way that this works, and just in general, I don't know how you avoid this. It seems unavoidable. And the longer that it goes on, agree, the more that I think it's a bad look because people are just it's gonna build.

00:28:05
Speaker 1: And build and build and build and build.

00:28:07
Speaker 2: And then finally they're gonna get their opportunity, and there's gonna be one question and two questions. He already gets frustrated and fluster with the media to begin with. He's already a little bit of a red ass and a smart ass, and I just don't think there's any way around having to talk about this.

00:28:23
Speaker 1: At some point, it's gonna happen. Here's what has to happen.

00:28:26
Speaker 4: And I think within the investigation, what's being put out there is that Rassini has to clear up with the Athletic the six other people that were there or supposedly there, and that could be the piece of information that kind of puts this story to bid or makes the story that much more real.

00:28:53
Speaker 1: Was that cap.

00:28:55
Speaker 4: Were there really six friends there? And if they were there, who are these six friends? I think the burden of her being able to prove that this was literally a friends a friends deal where listen, he's no more than a friend and we became friends. However, they became friends. They're all a friend group, and she's a part of it, and they were there and that's what took place. If that's what's the story everybody is using, including the spouses, then the story goes away and the damage is done, but at least it's minimized for both Rossini and for Vrabel. I think the bigger point that has to be thrown out there, though, is that we are now in a moment of time where we just had a big situation take place at FS one at Fox and what took place there now not too much further out from that, you have another situation along the same type of lines that now surfaces as well. So the conversation is ultimately going to be the integrity of sources and the sources that are connected to the publication. So the athletic had to do this. The athletic couldn't just say we're going to stand on the fact that it's out of context. The pictures are the pictures. We support Diana versining. You couldn't do that because now what's going to come into question is any type of inside information that comes comes out, and if that information comes from let's just say for the sake of saying, because of the conversation it comes from a woman, it's going to immediately be questioned, what is the relationship of this woman with that coach, and what is the the standard and what is the the credibility of the publication it's coming from? Are you the New York Times or are you you know who did spin?

00:31:11
Speaker 1: Right?

00:31:11
Speaker 4: Like, it's kind of like right now, journalistic integrity of outlets is probably going to find themselves in question because of something like that's and specific no way around it.

00:31:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that the more that whatever whatever they thought the initial statement was going to get them backfired to a degree that I don't think anybody saw coming because then it dug up and brought up all of these old stories. You mentioned the comments about her husband, which, look, their relationship whatever, that's that's their business. But you know who cares If she's you know, they're doing whatever they're doing on the side, then then then have fun and do what you gotta do. You It is the credibility aspect of it. It's the credibility portion of it that I think people look at because they start to think about, well, you know, she did have a lot of stories of the Titans, like there was a lot of news that seemingly broke that she was a part of the aj Brown trade, and rumors that were out there all like all of those things that I think now the athletics looking at going oh wow, well wait a second, oh wow.

00:32:26
Speaker 7: Okay, okay, but but but let me let me play devil's advocate without getting in too much trouble here. I mean, do we want to know how these insiders get all their information all the time. It's like double depends on there's a double standard in different ways in the sense that you know how some of the guys do it versus maybe how people think that maybe a woman might might do whatever the case may be. If you are deemed as an insider, do people like they're born into the scoop.

00:32:56
Speaker 5: That's kind of part of your job, right.

00:32:58
Speaker 7: So I'm not trying to make Jonas I know you're smiling a smirky I'm not trying to make a case of saying anything. I'm just saying, from a professional standpoint, say something. I feel like people don't want to know how the meat's made like Jonahs doesn't like some people don't want to know how the sauage is made.

00:33:16
Speaker 5: Oh god, you know what I'm saying.

00:33:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we know now we know what happens to the sasage.

00:33:26
Speaker 1: We don't want to know how it's made. We still don't want to know how it's made. We just know what happened to it.

00:33:31
Speaker 2: It's just yeah, I mean, and and look, there's there's other names that have been brought up, you know, other reporters that have been you know, called in called into question about you know, how they get you know, certain stories and whatnot that all of a sudden they're catching catching straight.

00:33:48
Speaker 4: Jo Sina's name came up. What Justina Anderson's name came up. There's a Britt McHenry, her name came up. Like what's crazy is is that they're all DC. I've been here in this for years, Like this goes back to when I was and you.

00:34:06
Speaker 5: Were deep into it. You were deep into it.

00:34:09
Speaker 4: Hold on now, hold on now, I'm just saying you don't put me deep into it.

00:34:14
Speaker 5: I wasn't okay doing my work. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

00:34:19
Speaker 1: I mean, my integrity in that realm is at least.

00:34:22
Speaker 4: Okay, you you were you had your you.

00:34:26
Speaker 7: Had your hands full with those sorts of situations in decent.

00:34:31
Speaker 1: Not my head, my head. I was a spectator. I was a spectator.

00:34:36
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, of all of the gossip because I was in media in d C.

00:34:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, there's more too, there are more. Oh yeah. Oh it goes. It goes across a cross.

00:34:50
Speaker 4: Lines, categorical lines, like it goes into cheerleading, it goes into the media, uh, sales, it goes. It was one big thing in DC. It's all I did. Get a kist as well as what I'll leave it at. You saw there were some people over the weekend.

00:35:13
Speaker 2: I saw some stuff out there that you know, we just don't feel like, you know, this is really into our business to discuss, and you.

00:35:20
Speaker 1: Know, we don't.

00:35:21
Speaker 2: We don't feel like this whole thing kind of grosses You're you're friends with Rasini? Just stop, okay, you if this was somebody else, you'd get in the mud too, all right, If it was somebody else and and the story was dirty, you would have gotten involved to It's just like, this is calling in to question a lot of people's credibility with the actions and the way that it's being covered by people.

00:35:43
Speaker 4: Does this fellas, does this damage insider reporting? Like do you want like are people going to be like, look at the cost of it being transactional? I don't care, Like I'll get the information when I get it. How important is it to be able to say I scooped you, Like I knew they were going to trade AJ Brown last week, they traded AJ Brown today and the report is coming out today. How important is that transaction to media to what takes place?

00:36:11
Speaker 1: How important is it?

00:36:13
Speaker 4: I think that has to be the question, because ultimately, this is a category that was created for the sake of being able to say, like, we scooped somebody. News is very different and very difficult at this point in time, at this juncture, because technology has given athletes the opportunity to break news. So there's no real need to be a person that is a breaking news reporter. All you gotta do is have your feed on on, like, have your notifications on. AJ Brown says he wants out of Philadelphia. You don't have to get that from an interview. Diana Rassini says, reports from the athletic AJ Brown wants to get a trade. No, it's gonna to come from somebody's social media.

00:37:03
Speaker 5: You do for coaches though you know you do for their organization.

00:37:06
Speaker 4: Okay, that's fair, But again, how important is that? Is what I would say. How important ultimately they're in control?

00:37:14
Speaker 7: Right, Like if an organization wants to move on from a player, whether the player wants to be there or not, I think we all know they'll.

00:37:20
Speaker 5: They'll find ways of doing so. I think they're equally important.

00:37:23
Speaker 7: Like player empowerment's important now with the platforms that they've got to be able to put people in check. I saw Travis Hunter tweeted at I believe Ian Rappaport maybe in regards to a report he made about you know what position he's going to play and when he'll be back healthy and everything he's been doing, and you know he's he's asking like who told you that? Right?

00:37:43
Speaker 5: Like, so it's it's out there for everyone.

00:37:46
Speaker 7: But I do think that it's mostly used by front offices, ownership groups, and obviously head coaches because you know, it's their way of and we've seen this before too, how coaches go about getting the attention of players. Instead of just talking to them directly, they go to the media and they put pressure on players that way, and so it's no different than the front office leaking something out.

00:38:09
Speaker 5: They either put pressure on the.

00:38:10
Speaker 7: Players agent or you know, maybe it's just to kind of see how the fan base receives it accepts it. Who was a bunch of different ways of doing it?

00:38:18
Speaker 4: Who was it that just did the report from the front office person that was talking about Jalen Hurts. What was his name again, Jeff McLain McClain. Yeah, right, that's insider information. You didn't disclose who it was that gave you that information. It was said by what someone internally that.

00:38:37
Speaker 2: Clearly yeah, they use that, they use the front office. It was, you know, imply that they used the front or they used the media to get through the.

00:38:44
Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts right.

00:38:45
Speaker 4: So to me, again, how important is that? Do we know today how accurate that report was? Do we know today what impact that is having on Jalen Hurts or AJ Brown or the Philadelphia Eagles, Nick Sirianni, whoever, Big Dom. Do we know what type of impact is being had with Jalen Hurts's horrible impact on what's going on internally with the film.

00:39:14
Speaker 1: Do we even know how that that's a true story?

00:39:17
Speaker 2: I think that story got dwarfed by Rabel and Rassini playing Marco Polo Insidona.

00:39:22
Speaker 1: I think that's where things got.

00:39:25
Speaker 5: I do think it is interesting.

00:39:26
Speaker 7: Like the point you brought up earlier, LeVar, some of this hangs around and is surrounded around us, like finding out who else was there? Yeah, let's just have.

00:39:38
Speaker 1: We heard anything from him?

00:39:40
Speaker 5: No claim you're there with other people? If there's no other people ever, like no one's came forward.

00:39:47
Speaker 4: They put your boy, Taylor Lawan and all of them with the knee the knee breaks.

00:39:52
Speaker 1: You know, I was actually looking at do you know why you haven't heard from those other people?

00:39:56
Speaker 4: Why?

00:39:57
Speaker 1: Because they didn't exist. That's why they weren't there. It's a BS story.

00:40:02
Speaker 4: Well again, and I think that that is why it was brought up, and that was why it was brought to the conversation is if it is indeed not proven that there was a group of people there, and if those six people that you're talking about outside of you, which which I'm assuming makes eight, how many of those six people are male? How many of those six people are female? And and I got to be honest, what's the relationship dynamics that's connected to the people that are there, so so are these husbands and wives, these boyfriends and girlfriends.

00:40:40
Speaker 1: What does the split need to be three male, three female?

00:40:45
Speaker 7: No, No, because I feel like would be good at triggering the science.

00:40:50
Speaker 4: I just I just think, well, if it's six and your eight, that you got to assume that that might equate couples. That could equate couples if they're not careful and what the relationship dynamics are. But if you're talking about okay as a group of coaches or somebody from you know, the media world, if it's different media or different work backgrounds or whatever that aren't connected, I think there's a lot of scrutiny that has to take place in terms of how you look at who.

00:41:23
Speaker 1: They are to come up with what you deem.

00:41:27
Speaker 4: If I'm the athletic and I'm doing this investigation, what I deem is appropriate now?

00:41:31
Speaker 1: Is the pineapple pointing up or if.

00:41:33
Speaker 4: It's pointing down. If the top of the pineapple is pointing down, then obviously the glove has fit. And if the glove fits, you cannot acquit.

00:41:43
Speaker 1: That's the case. She should get an extension.

00:41:44
Speaker 7: I didn't think anyone's wearing gloves, but LaVar don't you have a shirts cut upside down? Pineapple on it?

00:41:50
Speaker 1: I had some penn state, I had some state down. I'm guilty, it's charged. Hey, here's what it is. Here's word of last week. We all have things that we have to fight through, you know.

00:42:05
Speaker 7: So back to my initial question, like if do you care with the insider how they get their information?

00:42:12
Speaker 1: Again, that's the point do we care?

00:42:14
Speaker 5: Like do you care? I'm asking you guys, do you care?

00:42:17
Speaker 4: I don't really care about insider information because until it becomes real, what is it like to be able to say I was the one that scooped it? Like unless it's like I hate to do it to him because he's on TV and I love him to death. But unless it's like something as big as man Titaya, Like, Okay, insider scoop says that this there, there's something weird.

00:42:40
Speaker 1: I have to catch a stray.

00:42:43
Speaker 4: Yeah, well, because I'm just talking about the story that's your linebacker, brethren. That is, I don't want to throw him under I don't want to throw him under the bus. But I'm just saying, problem is everyone, Okay, if you if you skip that story, come on now.

00:42:57
Speaker 7: Maybe that's what we're doing here is everyone's rushing to judge and we don't have all the facts.

00:43:02
Speaker 5: Because then we saw a Netflix show come out.

00:43:04
Speaker 7: We're like, oh, like and like you felt, folks, we were trying to tell you didn't.

00:43:09
Speaker 5: Want to listen.

00:43:10
Speaker 7: We're trying to tell you. We're like, this is a much deeper conversation.

00:43:14
Speaker 4: So bad for Manti, but the damage had already been done.

00:43:18
Speaker 5: Okay, so now they're gonna be a Netflix series out of this thing.

00:43:21
Speaker 4: I don't think that this is big enough, unless unless Mike Rabel lost his job. I hate to say it. The reality of it is is that Racini is more expendable in this scenario than Mike Rabel, and people could take it however they want to take it. But the reality of it is is that Diana Russini will be looking for a job, might already be looking for a job, might be damage goods based on the level of this story.

00:43:52
Speaker 1: So now what it is that she does, and she does very well.

00:43:55
Speaker 4: By the way, Diana Roussini is a is a very good reporter at what she does, and she does get inside information and is able to you know, disseminate it. She's one of their highes paid employees, and now she's not going to have the ability to be able to do that, and she's considered to be radioactive. She's going to have to do it on her own. She's going to have to create a podcast and do it on her own. Look at Joey Taylor. She leaned into it and it's working for her. But she's quiet. It's quiet. Though it's quiet, it's not You don't have as big a microphone as she had before, a megaphone as she had before. So I think it's a big story. I think it's Netflix worthy. I think it's big as happen and the big Old cans. If Mike Rabel loses his job over this or gets suspended over this, then and then now that further goes back into Pandora's box because your owner was at Asian orchids and the orchids of Asia like getting rubbed out, like getting getting them kinks rubbed out and getting like the sword spots rubbed out of them. And now that's going to come back to light. That's going to be discussed and talked about. There's a whole lot of fallout that comes out if Mike Vrabel is hit by this, Diana Rassini, unfortunately for her not so much.

00:45:19
Speaker 1: Super Bowl hangover is a real thing. It is. The team to lose the Super Bowl just doesn't seem to go right there. Maybe they should have thought about that, Yeah, should have.

00:45:29
Speaker 4: Diana should have really thought about it, because I feel like she had more to lose in this.

00:45:34
Speaker 1: She had a lot to gain.

00:45:35
Speaker 4: But I think if this turns out to be what people are saying it is and she can't get another gig because of what she was doing, and that's what it's based off of, she had way more to lose in this scenario than the Mike Rabel did.

00:45:49
Speaker 7: She do think it's interesting that the Athletic came out initially and supported her, right they did, and now they're investigating it and maybe it's which is interesting because it feels like their reaction into this is more because of public pressure.

00:46:02
Speaker 4: And they tried to put it to sleep, like put it the bit real quick, like nope, we got her, didn't happen, moving on. But the fact that it's like, oh no, we're not done talking about it, it shows you how powerful the public is.

00:46:15
Speaker 2: Like you mentioned, like how difficult of a job it is to find six people that don't exist.

00:46:20
Speaker 1: That's great talking about reporting. She pulls that off.

00:46:23
Speaker 4: My god, and that's I mean every I think alleged, that's alleged.

00:46:29
Speaker 1: There could be in the fall every year when everyone's voting.

00:46:32
Speaker 7: I mean, there's there's a lot of there's a lot of ham a lot of names of damn poles.

00:46:38
Speaker 5: I'm just saying, dang it, gn't me that hard.

00:46:41
Speaker 7: I think both the political parties figure out a way of doing it every time we get in the election.

00:46:45
Speaker 1: Of America screwed.

00:46:46
Speaker 2: You know what I like about doing the show with you guys. When there's a story of that's real muddy. A lot of people are like, ooh, I don't want to get dirty, and we say, grab a snorkel.

00:46:54
Speaker 1: We're going going in.

00:46:56
Speaker 5: Yeah, by the.

00:46:56
Speaker 7: Way, going in to the jerko that chimed in on social media. I thought we didn't touch it. I'm like, bro, we didn't just touch it. We grabbed it, all right, did he full? He locked on and we're letting go.

00:47:09
Speaker 1: Oh my god.

00:47:10
Speaker 4: I mean, I study pictures of joy like you would not believe, just so I could get a feel for what Jason Whitlock was speaking of when he explained the way that he did.

00:47:21
Speaker 5: Well, how did he Jonas? How did he explain Diana? How did he describe her?

00:47:25
Speaker 1: Thevarrington?

00:47:27
Speaker 5: No, no, no, how did he describe Diana? If it was peanut butter skin.

00:47:31
Speaker 2: That peanut butter skin and then big old cans?

00:47:35
Speaker 5: But how did he describe Diana?

00:47:38
Speaker 1: Yeah?

00:47:39
Speaker 5: You know it was sun tan Oh.

00:47:45
Speaker 1: I didn't see that one.

00:47:48
Speaker 4: Wetlock's been on one lately, he's been on I mean that that Matt Barnes one was that was over the top.

We mentioned this that Mike Frable's not going to be at the pre draft press conference because you know, probably not a great idea, but it does bring up the point that it occurred to me, Oh yeah, the drafts next week. Oh interesting, just sort of right around the corner, one of the big events yearly in the world of sports. They're expecting seven hundred thousand people to show up in Pittsburgh. They're shutting down all the schools. Yet from this far away, it just doesn't feel like, uh, like it's all that it's cracked up to be in years past.

00:50:07
Speaker 5: Who's the blame for that?

00:50:09
Speaker 7: I mean, is this a matter of it not being the most exciting offseason in general for the NFL?

00:50:14
Speaker 5: Like that?

00:50:14
Speaker 7: Like free agency wasn't that impactful? Uh the draft class? Maybe it's Some people say it's it's because Forrinanda, Mendoza's too squeaky clean and it's already known where he's going to go.

00:50:25
Speaker 1: It's him, he's the problem.

00:50:28
Speaker 5: You're gonna blame Mendoza.

00:50:29
Speaker 1: Get a flaw, get a bad habit, start drinking.

00:50:33
Speaker 2: Uh, Like I if somebody wants to slip him an ounce of crystal meth before the draft. Do something, get an edge, get something so we have something to talk about. If you're Laramie Tunsel, dude, you're not using the gas mask anymore. Give it to him. Let him do it. Sitting there in South Beach waiting for.

00:50:51
Speaker 1: The Raiders to pick him.

00:50:52
Speaker 2: And next thing you know, they pan over and he looks like that guy at the drug lab and true detective with a gas mask on, filled with need.

00:51:00
Speaker 1: That's what we need.

00:51:01
Speaker 2: We need something salacious, and he's not given it to us.

00:51:07
Speaker 1: You know, I don't know how to I don't know how to respond to that, but.

00:51:12
Speaker 4: I found it interesting that we have not had very many top top athletes or or top pick guys not coming come under an intense scrutiny. Sorry, so I'm like getting caught in my thoughts intense scrutiny for them. I think back to the RG three Andrew Luck. Is it RG three and Andrew Luck that we're coming out together?

00:51:40
Speaker 1: Is that the two? Yeah? And how you had two guys, not one.

00:51:45
Speaker 4: You had two guys that it was very hard to create a narrative about what you did not like about them. And I think that was when we were hitting a period in time and culture where it was becoming a little bit more frowned upon and difficult to just speak your piece, especially if it had to do with a person of color. And I think that the approach in that year was because Andrew luck was the generational talent, but RG three was the one who won the Heisman and had an amazing year and did all of these things right. The only thing that you really could lean on going into that that draft was turning them into arch nemesis or making it a versus type of deal like pick your poison, when in reality, to be honest, it probably wasn't even close. I think they tried to do that with with Simpson, you know the guy or not?

00:52:45
Speaker 1: Is it Ti Simpson's that name? Am I getting right? Yeah?

00:52:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think they tried to create that with the Alabama quarterback here, but in an effort of raising the point that he could be considered just as good, if not better. Then Mendoza coming into this draft was shot down in such ferocity that it kind of kilt it. And so it's now it's a matter of if we're if we're building what the build up of this draft is based off of I think Mendoza unless you're okay with just fantasizing over it working out exactly the way it does in the movies. Slow start in life in terms of nobody wanted you, You couldn't even walk on to the school that you wanted to go to.

00:53:37
Speaker 1: You end up going to this school here. Isn't that good?

00:53:40
Speaker 4: You end up transferring, going to another school. It works out for you, end up beating the school that didn't want you, and you end up winning the Heisman. It's like the great feel good story in so many different ways. If that's not what they're leaning into, I would I would ultimately challenge people, what is what is the storyline that somebody could take and create for this year's draft?

00:54:05
Speaker 1: What is it?

00:54:06
Speaker 3: Well?

00:54:06
Speaker 7: No, And that's the interesting thing about this is you do have an incredible story. A quarterback who comes in and in a single year, turns around arguably the worst football program in college football history, wins the Heisman, runs the table in arguably the most difficult era to ever do it, and yet there's still no buzz. And he's going to a team that's a storied franchise, or we're assuming he's going to go to the Raiders, which is a storied franchise and obviously needs a ton of help to turn this thing around. So it's kind of crazy to me that there's not more buzz. Maybe just because it's a foregone conclusion, that's part of it. I tend to look at it this way. I don't think it's so much about Mendoza as it is about everything else behind him. You know, we might have to wait a little while before we here Ty Simpson. There's some concern about his lack of exp sperience. You know, you look at some of the top rated guys. Caleb Downs, he's a safety, Jeremiah Love, he's a running back. When you look at teams and how they build their roster, they get excited about tackles, edge rushers, you know, d tackles, cornerbacks, wide receivers obviously, quarterbacks, not those two position groups. You know, when those are the best overall prospect players you're looking at and they get kind of pushed up.

00:55:27
Speaker 5: It takes a knock at some of these guys.

00:55:29
Speaker 7: I mean, r Vel Reese is an incredible talent, but there are teams are looking at him as an edge player and he's't have a ton of experience as an edge player att from Oha State, Rubin Banging, there's concerned about his length, of his arm length, and now there's some concerns about you know, a car accident happened a couple of years ago and less someone j Yeah, well, I mean they're.

00:55:47
Speaker 5: Digging into this stuff.

00:55:48
Speaker 7: Spencer Fanu, that tackle out of Utah, somebody feel like you might be better at guard. So when you start to break down this draft, I don't think it has so much to do with Fernando Mendoza. I think has to do with the NFL scouts talent evaluators not getting as excited because they don't have those tackles, those edge rushers, those you know, the defensive front, the wide receivers, the cornerbacks. They don't have as as great of a class as they've had in the past or next year. When I've talked to you guys about the quarterback class, like that quarterback class, you're going to see five to six quarterbacks taken in the first round.

00:56:23
Speaker 5: That is my projection for twenty twenty seven. This year we might only have one.

00:56:29
Speaker 7: So I think all those things add up to they're not being as much buzz around NFL teams their front offices, and then that kind of lends to the same way about the media. We're outside of doing mock drafts, they're not talking about it quite as much. I mean, right now, you know, part of the speculation is, all, right, after Mendoza, when is ty Simpson going to go? How are we going to see some of these tackles, some of these defensive players. But where's Jeremiah Love fitting there as a running back? How high could he go? And that's kind of it. I think if you asked go ahead.

00:56:59
Speaker 4: I was going to say, am I horrible for saying if if Arch Manning or let's just go back to like if Michael Vick or you know, was coming out right now, would there be more excitement about what mike Vic could represent to the Raiders than what we're seeing with Fernando Mendoza, Because, for what it's worth, Fernando Mendoza accomplished more than what Mike Vic did and his last year coming out of college. I just don't think I feel like the reason why this this this this draft is struggling to have that type of storyline.

00:57:34
Speaker 1: Last year's draft struggled too, and they had to lean on on.

00:57:39
Speaker 4: Shador to carry them through two days of draft coverage.

00:57:44
Speaker 5: To people prank calling them, I mean, come on, man.

00:57:48
Speaker 4: From from from team, from team's kids, by the way, from.

00:57:52
Speaker 1: Team or from organizational people's kids.

00:57:56
Speaker 4: I just wonder what it leads me down the road to wonder is if there's not an anchor for this For this draft in particular, it was the controversy of Shador, which, as much as that to do with connecting it to Prime to Deon Sanders, it's an easy one to win on and get people to link in and pay attention to this.

00:58:19
Speaker 1: One this year.

00:58:20
Speaker 4: It says to me that maybe there's not a belief that Mendoza is a generational talent. Maybe Mendoza is not the quarterback that is going to change what's going on in Las Vegas with that team. Maybe they're not as high, Maybe people are not as high on Mendoza internally. Is what needs to be for the hype machine to really get behind him, because ultimately, if he were that, I think people would be way more excited for a legendary, historical franchise to get a guy that's going to turn the fortunes around to what they've been and what they've not been able to get away from which is winning and not have a franchise quarterback to go with their team.

00:59:03
Speaker 1: That's not that should be an easy.

00:59:05
Speaker 4: Layup of a headline that drives this this this draft, and it's not so to me. I feel like this is this could be an indictment on how good they view Mendoza being as a pro quarterback. You may not even projecting them to start. It's the Dan Patrick Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
