Yeah, it's the Internet. You're busy. Let's do this. I'm Jeff Grub. This is grub Snacks, I write over on gamesbet dot com. I am doing this show for giant Bomb where we talk about video games. I talked to you answer questions we're gonna This is my first day back from a vacation, and therefore I haven't been paying too much attention to what's going on in video games, although I do kind of still keep tapped. In that said, I got some fun things to talk about with you today, some interesting tidbits, some answers to questions that have been asked recently. Got a couple a few more of those, few more things to scratch off the list, including something about the Xbox fridge the mini fridge. Someone asked about that last week or the week before, and I was able to, you know, actually track down a little bit more info on that stuff. You know. If you want to ask a question, hit the Ask a Question but at the top of the page on giant bomb dot com slash chat. If you're not watching live, if you're listening to like the podcast version or whatever, come hang out with us live. We do this on Thursdays at eleven am. Mountain time, Mountain time, the one and only time, of course. Okay, so, uh let's get started, and like I said, please feel free to to you know, send in those questions and I'll get to them once we get to that section. But for now, let's talk about some of the things I have on my list here. First thing, real quick, I think, you know, it seems pretty obvious now that in software and machine games and Pothesda and Microsoft and everybody who owns Quake now they're they're going to reveal a revitalized edition of Quake today. We know because they said that in a blurb about the panel that's going to be at Quake Con today. One of the first panels at Quake Con later today, Uh, you know, honestly might be already happened. I think it's happening a little bit actually, so like an hour or so, if I'm right, I'm on the timing, I'm gonna be gone. I'm gonna be taking my kid to school right when it happens, I think. So I won't be watching, but you could watch, and hopefully we'll get some details about what this will revitalized editions like. But to back that up, it also has been rated by the ESRB, and the beta build of Quake on Steam has gotten an update as well. That's probably gonna roll out. You know, it's probably gonna shadow jop as part of this thing, so keep an eye out for that. There is Uh so, yeah, quake, some sort of people are saying the Quake is out, like so yeah, it might have already happened, but yeah, either way, that's cool. But like, there's things happening today. I think NHL twenty two got announced today. Congratulations, Jeff Bacalar Hockey has not been canceled yet. Let's see what else has happened. I think there's some Dying Light two news that I think is is today. Uh. I can't say exactly what it is, honestly, I'm not sure exactly what it is. I think we'll get more more on that probably around games calm time. Uh. And then we're supposed to get Called Duty Vanguard today as well. So yeah, well we'll we'll get all that. Uh, we'll see. That's it's It's gonna be a busy day for games though. It's like time to start ramping up. Madden is out. Everybody is like, okay, video games are back. So here we are. Let's look, what's what else I have here? I did say, okay, the the Xbox Series X mini fridge, the fridge what looks like an Xbox Series X. They did one of those where they basically they just like painted Xbox like an Xbox decal on the front, and that's what that's kind of what they like, you know, they gave that a way to influencers or whatever. That is not what they're releasing here now. They're actually trying to get like an Xbox Series X like looking fridge that's actually like built like one, and they want to start selling that. They want to try to get it out by the end of this year. They also want to hit a around a two hundred dollar price point, and those two things are also conflicting with a global supply chain shortage, so things are hard to come by right now. Uh, it's it's hard to source parts for everything, and apparently that includes fridges. So you know, I guess that makes sense. Like we've heard, if you've been paying attention to the news, one thing we've heard is that it's really hard to get home appliances, like yeah, lumbers, really expensive homes are growing up in prices. But if you want to get like a washer or a dryer or a fridge, those things are like really they're like backed up or whatever. So, uh, you know those things things things probably are going up in price. That's either gonna make it take longer to get that many fridge out or it's going to be more expensive when it does come out. And if they don't want to, you know, they don't, if they don't want to budge on that price, it's probably gonna be a delay. I mean a delay for a fridge. I don't honestly, what are we talking about it anymore? What's gaming? I got this RGB face mask over here from Razors, So this is just the world we live in now. But yeah, the fridge probably by the end of this year, probably around two hundred dollars. If everything can work out. We'll see, We'll see how how the supply chains sort of sort themselves out. I think if anybody works in that area, you fully understand what's happening there. So it's affecting Microsoft when they're trying to make a novelty Bridge. Another follow up, Michelle un sells wild I was asked about this, I said, I bet it's probably never gonna come out. I guess I can confirm that that game is is fully done. There is no Wild anymore. That's a weird thing to say there the Wild is dead, there is no more Wild, but that's the truth. The I think Michelle un Sell just sort of abandoned the project. Not that kind of abandoned. We're not going down that rabbit hole today, hopefully, but he just you know, he's not working on anymore. The project got shut down. The team that was working on it was looking at like maybe trying to stay together and work on other projects. That's I don't know what happened with that, but they were definitely like they were like, hey, we're not working on this anymore, but we do have a lot of talent here. Maybe we can work on some stuff. I got my kids yelling in the background. My wife's the teacher showing back to school. They haven't gone to school at this time, so we're probably have to find a different time to do this. Maybe maybe next week. Keep an eye out. Okay, let's keep it going. Uh and then here okay, yeah, here's a good one. So what's going on with nether Realm? As far as I'm aware we still haven't heard any news from another Realm exactly about what they're working on next. And that's a big question. People think, Oh, maybe it's a Marvel versus versus DC game, and that would be wild. It's probably not that. It's probably I think I said it was going to be Injustice three or whatever. That's a that was a guess. It was an educated guess. It made sense. They had gone from Mortal Kombat to Injustice to Mortal Kombat to Injustice. That's been their cadence so far. But if you think about it a little bit further, does that make sense? Does having Nether Realm use a WB owned property right now makes sense? When WB is sort of falling apart in front of our eyes. Where who knows where Nether Realm is going to be next year? Like, is Nether Realm is still going to be part of WB? And does it make them does it make it easier to sell Nether Realm or let it spin off or whatever if it's making Mortal Kombat twelve instead right now? And that's what I've heard is happening. Is that and I've heard this is not I wouldn't say this is like for sure. But it lines up with the reality, and it lines up with what I've heard where Mortal Kombat twelve would make the most sense because that's a game they know, we'll make money, it'll sell well. There is still I mean, Mortal Kombat eleven was, it was great, it's doing well. But if you come out with Mortal Kombat twelve, it will also sell and do well. And at the same time, you don't have to use any of these Batman Superman characters that might be tied up in licensing if you try to get rid of Nether Realm, if you try to sell it to whoever. And I mean that's the other side of it is when the when the shakeup was happening at WB and Discovery, I honestly I can't keep straight, like what companies what I think it's like Discovery Plus, I honestly that's such a weird thing that Discovery is the is that's the Discovery channel. Is that who this is whatever? But it's like whoever's involved in like all these like spinoffs and shakeups and and you know, and properties going from w B to Discovery or whatever. When all that stuff first started happening, I mentioned that no one really knew. I think I might have mentioned it that might have been before grub Snacks, but no one knew what was happening. No one in another realm that these companies did not fully understand what was going on. So in that uncertainty, you can imagine they would want to work on something that was more certain. And then at the same time, when all that uncertainty was happening and all these spinoffs were happening, there was a little bit of a feeding frenzy where a bunch of companies were like, hey, if nether realms of Villa, we are interested. And I do believe that that involved interest from all of the big players. I think it probably. I bet conversations happen between Sony and WB or whatever, and I bet they happen. I'm pretty sure that they have between Microsoft and WB. But I bet there were other companies involved there as well. Mortal Kombat is a very valuable franchise. It does make a ton of money if if it's something if you're not into it, it might be hard to recognize that. But if you like look at the MPD charts every every month, you see Mortal Kombat eleven is right there in the top ten usually every month, you know, at least in the top twenty, long after it comes out. It is like the NBA, It's like NBA two K in that way where it just keeps selling. It keeps selling, and it has pretty good micro transactions as well, so probably making a lot of money from that stuff as well. So there was a lot of interest. Now is that turning into anything? I would say that it's so far it seems like they haven't turned in and it turned into anything, Whereas basically I'm saying that I don't know if a deal has moved forward to the point where the other realm is imminently going to be acquired by someone. But I do think those conversations are still happening, and I think that sort of table setting, like that's that like that scenario is leading to a situation where everyone involved is like, let's just make Mortal Kombat twelve right now instead. So yeah, anything else, No, No, you know, like I said, I'm just getting back from vacation. News is going to start speeding up here again pretty quickly, you know what. Let's talk a little bit more. It is August nineteenth, and I think last time we talked, I said I had never heard that there was going to be a state of play on August nineteenth, but I saw some rumors and I wanted to be fair and say, I haven't heard that it won't be on August nineteenth. Well, we're here. It does not seem like as a state of play is going to happen today out of nowhere. And and so where does that leave us in terms of Sony and news. I know there's a lot of people who are very hungry for more news out of Sony. And to me that that September rumor that I heard, the September stuff that I heard like a few weeks ago, still seems completely on the table where we buy September. We should have a full robust state of play with a lot of information, and again it's going to be filling out Sony's fall time frame, fall releases, and then maybe a few things here and there that are coming out a little bit further down the line. Sony didn't have a big E three show, so you would think, oh, obviously they have an E three like event to like they have that early, they have an E three's worth of information to still give us. I don't think that's necessarily the case. I still think that Sony's in a situation where they've told us a lot of what's coming coming. They did several events before the PlayStation five came out, and as the PlayStation five was coming out, they told us about a bunch of games. Final Fantasy is sixteen and for Spoken, and uh, just a ton of stuff. You know God, we know God Divorce coming Horizon. It's a lot of big games that they still have to deliver on, and so they're going to treat probably this next state of play as here's what you could buy this holiday. Here are promises related to delivering the PS five to consumers, and then here is a few things that we've already talked about that are coming, but here's some updates on them and stuff like that. So at this point I also think that there it does seem like there's a better chance that we get the date for Horizon at this event. And the date is just sometime in twenty twenty two, so you know, it's a it's a delay, it's an official delay slash, a date reveal, a release date reveal. So that's starting to make more sense. I thought they would just didn't say hey, it's not coming this year at some point, but they've never really given a date for this year. They've they've always said, hey, it could come either way, And so when they finally give a date, they could just do that at a state of play and give a twenty twenty two day and just kind of kill two birds with one stone there. So yeah, it makes sense to me. So, uh, questions, Let's let me bring up my questions thing here. Let me hit the button. Oh oh, that's right, I had to change the thing. Let me get the questions here. I think it's just gonna be one thing down. It's already, it's already framed properly. We're good to go. Let's scraw on down. I'll try to get to as many of these as possible. Like I said on the first go around, if you missed that, this is our second try, grubs. Next today, I have to go drop off my kid at school today and her school starts at school forty five mountain time. But it's still the first week. I don't want to give myself plenty of time. So we're gonna get out of here probably around ten after the hour. So let's get into these questions. Starting right now with Slaine Macgawson, who says what's the best video game rumor slash leak? You heard that you that you wish was true, but dinn't end up being true at all. That's a good question. I don't have a good memory for this sort of thing, so I might have to think about it. It's like, you know what it would have been, is is Perfect Dark? That? I know this is not an answer your question, but I remember like something. It was like last year. Yeah, I was like early last year or something like that. I said that I heard that the new studient Microsoft was working on Perfect Dark. And I said this I again, like a chat on a kind of funny and it like got over on Reddit and it was made a big deal of and then a bunch of other people are like a bunch of other insiders and not even insiders like good reporters were like, I don't know about that, Jeff Grub, I think I know what that is, and no, sir, I don't think. So I was like, oh, okay, well, you guys usually know what you're talking about, and I'm not like one. So man, I wish that was true. I guess I've really heard it's like, we're perfect Perfect Dark related. So I wrote a story saying like, here's what I've heard, here's the exact context. It's probably not Perfect Dark, but it's probably gonna draw it in in some ways. And then of course it comes out and it is Perfect Dark. But at that in that timeframe, I was like, man, I wish that was true. I would I would love them take another crack at Perfect Dark. I don't know why. I only kind of like Perfect Dark at this point, but the idea of you know, Microsoft making another Perfect Dark game was was always interesting to me. So so yeah, but at this point, I don't have a good answer to that question. I'll think about it from Las Sue Gum. If you were in chat, what would you ask? I would ask, if there's gonna be any sort of I would ask, like why we don't get more stuff like deaf jam or more stuff where it look it's like there's always been a long a strong link between hip hop and video games, and why don't we see more, even like in like this world where indie developers are making stuff, why don't hip hop like these hip hop empires, Like why don't they just do it themselves? At a certain point, I would ask about that, uh JP Graybier, what will be the next sports game franchise that will go the free to play a route? So I think I've probably talked about this before, and if I haven't, on here, well let's do it now. It's probably going to be NBA from from EA. So what I wanted to say NBA free Time, but I think that's what it was called, like forever go NBA Live. That's the one that EA really wants to make go free. He wants to make it free to play, and that's how it wants to compete and like come up from the bottom. I'm sure I've talked about this before. I feel like I've used this exact verbiage. But NBA two K is so dominant. It's so dominant that like when EA is like going to the NBA and say, hey, we might try to do it free, like go do a free to play version, the NBA goes to two K and says, hey, if you heard this the ship that he's gonna try to do, And EA is like, what the hell? Why come on, we are partners, you're not. You don't have to like like go tell two K what we're trying to do here, and then two K's like it kind of fights back. It says, we don't think that's a good idea. We have a really strong relationship two K selling really well, you probably don't want to mess that up. And so NBA kind of spoils EA's attempts to try to make this free to play version. They will get to that point though, eventually they will figure it out, and I think when NBA Live comes back, it'll be it should be free to play. Yeah, all right, let's go to the next one. Where do you fall on the Jeff Giant Bomb beer spectrum? Do you prefer craft IPAs like Bacalar or fruity malt liquors like Gersman. I think I'm probably healthily in the middle, like where Well, the problem with the fruity malt liquors is that they often give me heartburn. My esophagus just does not enjoy that stuff. So I think they're tasty. And I definitely definitely got drunk, Like one of my first times getting drunk was definitely on something like I don't think of a smearinof ice. At the time, it was like the weird point between zema and smearinoff ice. So yeah, but even then it gave me a terrible heartburn. I like IPAs, but I am I would I happily drink Paps, Blue Ribbon, you know, Miller High Life. I don't care, you know, I like a beer that's that's weirdly refreshing. I tell you, one of my favorite things in the world to do before the pandemic, and really before I had kids. The real thing is the real thing there is, go to the Alamo Drafthouse. It's right down the street and sit down, even if I'm alone, and order a picture of Fat Tire from New Belgium and just drink that entire thing and watch a movie. And almost no matter what the movie was, I would have a great time, because really the beer in the popcorn was so good that by the end you're just happy in and giddy, and it's like, as long as the jokes are landing when you're drunk, it's good. It's a good time. So that's that's like my ideal is just fat Tire and like a nice amber logger or whatever it is, and probably not a logger. I'm not a beer guy necessarily. Where I know about beer, I just enjoyed drinking it. Fisk zero, did you find anything out about the Frog Wears Naken situation over the last few weeks. It's one of those things whenever I checked the list, I'm always like, Okay, I need to like find a way to get in on this. So it's still something I'm looking into, but I've not found out more. But thank you for reminding me. It's it is right there on the list though, feature Creep. What's the deal with Quake? I don't know. I think we'll find out exactly what it is to I mean, I wonder, I wonder if they're just like adding a bunch of tech to it. It almost feels like, you know, we got Quake two RTX. Maybe they're doing something that's similar but then also adding adding a bunch of other stuff. What it really comes down to is they probably want to keep Quake relevant. We've talked a lot in the last few weeks about like what is Bethesda gonna do with Fallout and how are they going to keep that series? I mean a Fallout seventy six plays into that more than we talk about here, but we say another real Fallout game, Like what are they going to do with that, like they need to keep that series alive in some other ways and not wait until Bethestive Game Studios is ready, you know, a decade from now. And so the same thing applies to Quake. But I think they found an answer, like just go back to Quake one. There's a lot of nostalgia for that game, a ton of nostalgia for that game. Play that stuff up, find that audience, let them know Quake is still alive in Kicking, and you're going to find a way to keep that series going forward. Probably started off here with this revitalized edition, and then from there you probably have other plans for Quake in place, and they probably does involve machine games and find the way like to have them make something as a follow up that feels like a true new sequel to that franchise, while also doing in this game from Mighty War Canoe. Hey, Jeff, what is Monolith up to these days? It feels like they've been silent since Shadow of War. Are they working on a new ip, a new Lord of the Ring game, or my biggest hope, a Fear reboot. I'm not sure exactly. I do believe that one of their key creatives left to start a new studio with I can't remember now. I can't remember exactly where where he went, but he did start. It was like almost like I think he might have started with ten Cent or something like that. I can't remember. There's a lot of money right now, and so I think a lot of like the key senior developers at these studios are taking that money elsewhere. You know. It's something we talk about a lot where there's doing capitals cheap and so companies are big companies are spending a lot of money to make sure that they have a lot of content coming. And I think what's happening is like that staff is probably still rebooting a little bit and making sure that they have people in place. And I don't know the answer to the question of what they're working on. It's something that I probably should I could probably find out. I could probably look into that. I'll see what I hear and bring it back to you. I will add it to the list. Let's get it here. Let's see grub snacks. No, that's my shopping list there it is, okay, uh, Monolith Fear question Mark, all right, it's on the list. We'll check from Zarbuck with Press getting their hands on the Steam deck. Is there any details that you feel have been underreported? Not not terribly. I mean I'm still very like interested in the thing. I'm still very h impressed by it. I think I would have said like the power draw of the processor, but I think that's starting to get headlines now. People are starting to talk about like this is a very efficient AMD chip, like it's drawing ten watts. So yeah, I think right now it's been pretty well covered, you know, and from a bunch of different angles. I thought the Giant Bomb video was good. I thought that Rory did a good job with jen kind of breaking stuff down. I think lineus tech Tips obviously did a good job. The tested guys it was you know, we kind of have got a bunch of people who know what they're talking about getting their hands on this thing and coming at it from different angles and trying to figure out, like, you know, is this a note we can crack and figure out like what's wrong with it? And so far, I feel like all the all of the questions have mostly been answered except for it are people who don't buy games on Steam gonna show up for this thing? And I'm more confident, like I'm more optimistic about that than a lot of other people who are just like, this is the thing that's gonna come and go. It's gonna be for the hardcore. I think by next holiday you're gonna be able to find it in stores and it's going to do pretty well. From bainfier Lord, do you have any idea what Redfall actually is gameplay wise? I think either you or another gaming insider I follow mentioned we see that it's not really part of the four player co op Left for Dead alikes genre. Sorry if this is a double post to page refresh, yes, no, no worries that we refreshed the page. Definitely sending your questions if you felt like I got lost, So it's it's not Left for Dead. Not definitely, not exactly, because Left for Dead is like you're going to run with your friends, and it's like the compute. The AI is gonna throw different different events at you of like different types of or a different series of enemies, and this is going to be much more like missions and and using what Arcane is very good at, which is immersive sam gameplay mechanics and enabling you and your team to come up with different plots to take on those missions. I think, so it might feel a little bit more like border Lands in terms of, like you know, you have classes and you have your weapons, and it's four players and stuff like that. But even then, I don't think it's a very good comparison. And I think when you sit down to play this game, it is going to feel much more like an arcane immersive sim than like Left for Dead. But right now we're just looking at it. It's hard to grock that. So that's why that that comparison keeps getting made, and I don't blame anyone who makes it. I understand like once we play it will know, but it's gonna feel like an immersive sim in a maybe in a much more much more open environment, and maybe with more focused on classes because it is like multiplayers. So yeah, from sneeds feed and seed. Are there any modern gameplay trends and standards you can't stand? For me? It's mandatory iron Sights. It's almost as if games are embarrassed to just zoom the camera in a bit. I mean, I hate the the cursor select thing for I guess it's not a gameplay trend, but like select, like the Destiny style cursor thing if you're gonna do that, at least let me use the dpad then to just select a menu like like a regular human. I get that. Like you're trying to appeal to a wide audience that's coming in with like touch screen. They're like, I just want to go up there. Let me just go up there, and like they don't understand you. I get it. I understand why it happens. It probably is better for a wider group of people. But there's no reason we can't have both because there's both a duals. There's an analystick and there is a dpad, So let me have both. Other than that, I no, there's nothing really that like stands out is something that I just can't stand. Again, I'm not great at We're calling this kind of information off hand, so I had something off to think about without tipping your hand. How exciting is the biggest secret you're currently holding onto from the Easter Bunny. Oh, there's a couple. Uh, there's a couple that I think are are very neat and some people will be very into I don't know, but you know the ones that I'm like, the biggest ones, of course, are are still very very big and very and like, but it's just they're so far off that it's not worth talking about right now and things could change, and so i'dn't even let myself get too excited about it. But if all things go to plan, it will be very exciting. From Gundado, did that Commander Keen mobile game that made everyone violently nauseous ever come out? I do not know. I like vaguely remember everyone like looking at it and be like, ah, but I don't know what happened to it. Prickly Pete asks how many Steam decks do you think Valve needs to sell to consider a success. I would say probably a million. I mean that would probably be like a pretty big success. If it sells one million units in the first year, that that's probably like, yeah, it's pretty good. Like I'm I'm guessing I don't know exactly like what how hardware compares, but I think that probably compares pretty favorably to like tablets, to like Windows tablets and stuff like that, and Android tablets. Uh, it's probably not close to an iPad, but you're like getting into the realm of like feeling like you're pretty probably you could eventually get there. And it's the first year and it's define and it's only on Steam. If if if it's only on Steam in the first year and it sells a million units, that's a success unqualified from Vitterly. If Vaterly, there we go Vaterly, Hey, grubby, Why is the gaming industry so secretive compared to something like the movie industry. I bet it has to do with investors slash shareholders, But those level of secrecy seems absolutely absurd, especially when it is as leaky as it is. Yeah, it's messed up. It's absurd. Uh, it's I got asked a few weeks ago why my sources tell me stuff? And I've heard from someone who watches the show and they mentioned, like, all we ever hear is the very you were fine pr points that these companies want us to hear. And so when I get information and could get stuff early, it could tell you like, oh, a game is coming out a lot of times that comes with explanations of what is really happening and why these companies are really making decisions and and you know the usually the explanation is they want to make money, but there are human factors, like humans are involved in these things and they have their own things that they care about and they want me to be able to explain this stuff to you. And and to your point, it is absurd that that stuff gets covered up so so much. I mean, I hope, like I didn't look into it too much, but that story about Outriders and people can fly not knowing how many copies that game sold because Square Knicks won't tell them. I hope some something was lost in translation there, or that we don't have the full story. I hope that's not true. If that's true. To me, that's like borderline criminal that a studio who's whose compensation relies on how many copies a game has sold, not knowing how many copies a game is sold. It's just it's a breeding ground for fraud. It's I mean, I'm I'm always one I want to be hesitant about throwing around where it's like fraud and throwing around where it's like scam and stuff like that. But it just is not a good look. You gotta share that stuff, at least with the people making the game. Wow, that drove me crazy. And the story from so many fanboys was, uh, it was a game pass is killing out Riders, And I'm like, if that's what you care about coming out of this story. You are a weirdo for one and two, it's it's you're missing the point. You're missing the point this the person that made the game doesn't know how many copies they sold and so therefore does not know if they have earned royalties on this game. It's it's frustrating from one angry zeus. Is it your voice that says yummy yummy over the grub snacs intro? I wish I want to like lie and say yes, but no, Jan went ahead and found some good music for us, and there was a yummy yummy already existing in there that we can use. And I think him and and and and the art team like figured out, like put that stuff together for me sitting it over and it just works perfectly. Okay, let's keep going from minto how much longer can Epic Game Store afford to give away these big name games every week. That's a good question that I don't know the specific answer to, but to me looking from the outside and and having we have pretty good information about like how much money Epic is spending on it and how much they're making. They don't expect to make a profit until twenty twenty seven. Like just that that that alone right there. They don't expect to make a profit by twenty twenty seven, That's fine, that's the kind that's the way business can work. Sometimes if you make a lot of money from one product and you're trying to diversify into another platform or service a product, it can be okay that it's not going to turn a profit for some time. I will say that there are mitigating factors that you should take into consideration in the world of selling video games, where twenty twenty seven is several lifetimes from now. In the world of games we are going to, the way people are going to acquire games could look so different by now. Game Pass could have come and gone, and something couldn't have replaced that, and then the idea of purchasing games would not make sense to anyone anymore. And yet Epic will have spent all this money trying to make a store to compete with Steam, and it's like, if one store is going to continue to exist after we moved to a world where people are primarily subscribing to services to get their games, it's gonna be Steam. You're not going to be second place. There you're going to be forgotten. Like this is to me like looking from the outside and saying, I do not understand this investment beyond Tim Squeeney just sort of you know, making a crusade. I think it's I think he's the kind of guy that goes on these crusades and he wants to wants to, you know, stake out his own and then fight back in any way he can. And I think that's what this is about, more than actually making a profitable store. And so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I think that they could probably go until twenty twenty seven given away these big games, so they could, you know. And if you're out there and you're like, man, I'm not sure if this story is gonna be around, who cares? Just go get those three games? If you're a developer and you're getting offered money by Epic, who cares take it? And uh? And really, I mean I don't care about games that are on Epic anymore, Like I'll go I'll play stuff there as well as well. I mean it's I've had the issue where like I boot up a game and it doesn't start. You have to like delete stuff from from you know, from your temporary files and things like that. So Epic still has it's issues, but it's not like Steam is perfect either. The point here just is that I do not understand how Epic Game Store makes sense as a business strategy. Really, I don't think that saying it's gonna even if I don't think it's going to turn a profit by twenty twenty seven, and by then the gaming world will look so different that it just the idea of like coming up with a strategy now that applies to then is baffling to me. I don't get it. I would not have confidence in that. From final dosta, should pop tarts be toasted? I think should is carrying a lot of that right there. It's carrying a lot of that sentence of that question. The word should is important because probably you should, But do you have to? You don't have to, You don't have to do anything. There's no no one's gonna call the cops on you if you eat a dry, cold pop tart, which I've definitely done many times in my life. The problem is that the top the pop tart is so dry that you kind of need the heat to liquefy the lava stuff inside a little bit to make it actually a little bit more moist, or fool your brain into thinking it's more voist than what it is, so you probably probably should. Yes. From Infinite Skeptic. Red Faction Gorilla was remastered a couple of years ago. Is there any future in the series? Love the show, Thank you Infinite Skeptic. Right now, I'm not sure if there's much of a future for for Red Faction. Uh. I would love to see like a Red Faction Gorilla too, like a direct sequel to that and everything. That'd be very interesting. But yeah, I don't know. I mean, I think there's a chance, but I don't think so. From Heck fifteen oh one, any news on the Fate Swarm Fate's Warren DLC for Kingdoms of Amela Rereckoning, No, I don't. I haven't heard one thing about that one we or the other. So I'll check in on that, but I'm it's like the first I'm actually really even thinking about. Oh, there could be DLC for Kingdoms of Ameler rereckoning. It's a game I haven't played. I mean, I'm aware of it, but uh, I don't know about that DLC. I'll look into it and say, I bet I could also find out about that one, so I'll add it to the list. So Monolith and Kingdoms of Ameler DLC from Fugitive Jay, Final Fantasy seven, eight, nine, ten, ten to twelve, and fifteen have all come to game Pass. What happened to thirteen? No one wants thirteen? That's all it is. No, I don't know. I'm not sure, Like the thirteen was on Xbox when it launched, right, my Final Fantasy history is a little bit shaky, but I think that's right and there, and therefore I think it's already backwards compatible and like ready to go. It's on the store, but maybe maybe square and it's just thinks it's like so it's modern enough that it's like worth a significant amount of more money. But I guess within why not fifteen? Maybe fifteen just meets microsoft threshold for being like, oh okay, we also agree that that's worth that much more money. But I don't have a good answer to that. I imagine it's just negotiations, budgeting stuff like that. Probably a pretty simple and boring answer. And yes, Microsoft is just very superstitious that there you go from Aravan. Has any more progress been made in foreign countries related to curtailing lutboxes a little bit? I think if a few more European countries have definitely like made more, I have done more regulation on this stuff, but the fervor has definitely died down. People have stopped calling their legislators about this stuff because it's not in Star Wars games anymore. It's just in FIFA. And yes, the FIFA fans are still like, we hate this because we can't stop buying them, but the rest of like the rest of the audience of the gaming audience is not They're backing them up being really loud, and so I think most of the stuff has just sort of faded. In other words, the problem has sort of solved itself. I know it's still in sports games and a few other things, but we're not seeing it like spread out to stuff that like, you know, the pig of Star Wars is like, this is a game for kids, what about the children? Meanwhile, this is coming from a forty five year old man with no kids who was just like, I'm just gonna I don't want to pay for these things. That's why I'm actually saying this stuff, but still that argument was compelling to legislators and so, and it was also scary for publishers, and they've mostly backed off of the stuff to on their own accord. And yeah, the problem mostly solved itself. I get it still in FIFA and so, I mean not totally, but it almost seems like not worth the effort anymore. I think for most legislate legislative bodies. From our lean's up any Doc Brown level appearances on games Com this year, almost certainly he always gets someone, right. I mean, I hope he brings back a Muppet. Muppets are always great. I think the Muppets are working on a new show, so maybe they'll want to do it. But yeah, I'm trying to think of like because last year, yeah, Doc Brown, and he was talking camera about exactly what he even talked about. But I definitely remember hearing that he was going to have someone on and we put two and two together about what that would mean for the game, and that's why we like, we're ready for the game. Announcement happened. But he always has stuff like that, so I'll definitely be looking out for it. From J lw Any Inside News on Fumito Hueita's next game. How many hundreds of years will we have to wait for this one that's actually on the list. He's got a deal with Epic, right, so we'll probably hear about it eventually. Epic probably will ensure that he gets the help and the money he needs to get it out of relatively quickly. And if he's working on Unreal, you know, there's a lot of good Unreal developers out there, so maybe we won't have to wait so long for that one. People Make Games just published a video about Roadblocks and the explanative systems. Do you think do you feel the slash think a reckoning is coming for oh? Exploitative systems? And this is the question from Ogdo, who then asked, do you feel think a reckoning is coming for them? So? I don't fully understand all the ways in which Roadblocks is exploitative. I do know that they use the community to create content and then they share some of the revenue with those creators. My guess is that that revenue split is pretty minuscule, and that's probably what's exploitative. And yes, but a lot of it comes down to so yes, I think there's probably a little bit of a reckoning cominging coming, whether or not that gets developers everything that they're entitled to. You know, these community creators, these kids basically who aren't making this game what it is. That's down to the kids and whether or not they are willing to organize and work together and say we will not make content for you, and we'll make sure no one else does, and we'll go somewhere else, we'll make our own games. If they can band together in that way, they can get a lot. If it's just public pressure, they'll still get something, but it probably won't be as as good as as it could be, and it will probably blow over. You know, Roadblocks is massive. They're worth a lot of money. They're worth like something like forty five billion dollars or something like that, so you would think they can afford it. We know they have a lot of revenue. I've definitely, I've definitely written stories at games Beat saying here is a kid that's making ten thousand dollars a month making Roadblocks games. So they have these success stories to point to. But then if there are like a lot of like creas who are toiling away making relatively successful games and not making ten thousand dollars a month. I imagine that probably makes up the bulk of these creators. Uh yeah, A recommend is probably coming to some degree from the Easter Bunny, Indica, Sativa or a nice hybrid usually Indica. But again, you know, with the kids, it's not something I've been doing a lot recently. I definitely still have a bottle of of you know, the drinkable, the drinkable Indiga and the fridge, but I haven't touched it in a long time. So yeah, uh, fire Hair twelve thousand. Do you know if Microsoft will ever open up to releasing some of their older PC games on God Slash, Steam, Freelancer, and Black and White one and two are some of the highest requested games on the community wish list. I think that they will eventually. I think it's something they have no qualms with. It's just a matter of like getting someone to work on that stuff, and they're busy get that. Probably be like the same team that like works on backward compatibility stuff or whatever, or the team that like works on getting like the permissions lined up from all the people involved in that stuff, and they're just busy with other things that they prioritize higher than that from Rosiff. Will EA try making a new Ultimate game anytime soon that isn't mobile exclusive? I don't. I'll try to define soon here. Probably not in the next couple of the years, I don't think so. If they do something, it will be probably mobile exclusive. But if you're going beyond that, they're just this is the same answer for so many of these questions. And that's not me saying don't ask this stuff anymore. It's just I'm going to repeat myself. And all these publishers have a bunch of studios who are busy working on other things, and who would make this game. It's just who would make it. It would be tough for them to figure out who could really deliver on that and get make it with like a budget that's reasonable, so that if the game comes out and it's like niche, it can still make sense for them. Like, they just got to a point where they were okay making Dead Space, which is just one of the most obvious decisions in the history of gaming, and they're only just now getting okay with that. So that's where EA's at. We gotta like, we gotta like sort of it's like a kid learning to use the potty. You have to be over enthusiastic, like, good job, EA, you're gonna make dead Space, You're gonna make a big poopy. You did it. You have to like really be thrilled that they're finally like coming to their senses and learning how to do a very basic thing, which is make a lot of money by making a popular game. Games that are like are down the tier list, like Ultimately, which has its audience but isn't it's not a dead Space audience. That's a little bit harder to convince them that it would make sense for them. And I don't know if they're gonna come to their senses on that one. Okay, let's see. Let's keep moving along the drum. Kid ninety two, any info on the upcoming Last of Us multiplayer multiplayer games. Some potential Battle Royal mode assets were found in the base game files, but I'm more interested in knowing how they're handling the Factions mode. I don't have details like that stuff, but I do expect that this is something that will be at state of play. If they have this to launch, like this holiday, that goes a long way for them, and like keeping PS five owners pretty I think, pretty happy. We're like, yeah, listen, we got a bunch of director's cuts, we got stuff like Keena. We promise you Horizons coming early next year. Just chill, here's something to play until then and get into it. Like, yeah, we know the xbox as are gonna be talking about Halo Infinite a lot. You don't like Infinite, you don't like Halo anyhow, You wanted more stuff from Naughty Dog. Well here's this. So I think I think that's probably coming at September. I'll be surprised if it doesn't. I don't know for sure, but I would be surprised if it doesn't From Brush Wookie Tribe, Hey, do you remember the KFC console? Oh? Boy? Do I? And what happened to that? I don't know. I mean, it's just a PC right, Honestly, PC part's probably got pretty expensive for KFC and they're like, oh man, f this, uh, this isn't worth it. This is like, even though I guess a promotional stunt, this isn't worth it. So yeah, I bet that. I bet that was a big part of it. But I'll ask KFC. Maybe we'll get KFC to send us one and we'll do a grub Snacks official reveal here. Q JT. Is there a new Mafia in production? Not that I'm aware of. Hanger thirteen, which I believe is the team that does Mafia is doing that. That project Thunderdome, What's I can't remember the name of the project, but it's that the Cthulhu meets Saints Row thing that we've heard about. They're working on that and that's coming soon. Uh One angry Zeus comes in with what's your most anticipated game coming in the next two months slash into the next year. Right now, I can't stop thinking about Warrior Wear. I want that new Warrior Wear game. Thankfully, that's coming out in like exactly a month or something like that. So I'm looking forward to that. Metroid Dread, I mean, I can't wait for that. I'm really in a big Metroid Vania mood right now. I've been playing a lot of them, been going back to a lot of Metroid games I'm playing. I just finished Circle of the Moon Castlevania for the GBA went I went right into Harmony of Dissonance. So yeah, Metro Dreads probably the biggest one. But beyond that, I mean Starfield and Breath of the Wild too. Just to be really basic, I cannot wait to see what Starfield is, if it's anything, if it does anything to me like what Skyrim does, which is like it's just an awesome thing to explore, and then add a bunch of mods on to to explore in weird ways. That's going to rule for me. And then Breath of the Wild too, basically the same thing. If it's if it's great to explore like the first game was, I will be so happy. So yeah, those are the two big ones. Talk even but douf am I ever going to see another entry in the custom Robo franchise? Or is it dead and buried? Never say never? Uh, never say never. I think I feel like Nintendo's got a list of games they want to get to before this. I feel like I answered this question before. Maybe it wasn't Customer Robo, maybe it was like another game like this, But you know, we're getting Warrior where we are getting Advanced Wars games that like I thought would have a chance of being dead. And I will say if like either those games do pretty well, like Warrior wears fifty dollars, like when the when the Switch came out, me and Mike Manatio over games. We're talking on our podcast. We were saying, this is great. We love the Switch. We love that Nintendo is bringing their development teams together to work on one platform. That's awesome. However, we don't want to lose like what was like Nintendo's lower tier games, which would have almost all come out on the portable system and so therefore would have cost less money or would have been like sold for less money. They would have been like thirty or forty dollars games instead of fifty or sixty dollars games. And we don't want them to go away. We still want Warrior Wear, We still want Rhythm Rhythm Heaven, things like that. We still want Advance Wars. We don't need Advance Wars to be a triple A console game. We still want them to find a way to do these smaller, the smaller stuff. I think right now we are in that zone where they're like, let's see if we can figure out this stuff. Let's see what we can figure out Advance Wars. Let's see if we can figure out I mean, I know Advance Wars is gonna be sixty dollars. Does a remake of two games we'll see how it does. Let's see if we can make Metroid Dread a two D game work for sixty dollars, and then Warrior were from fifty dollars. Let's see what happens here, and if this stuff is relatively successful, let's continue doing this stuff with more of our older franchise franchises. And so I think there's a chance for custom custom Robo, but it might take some time. Let's see here from Kane High Wind zero nine looking forward to see him Punk on Friday. Yes, I actually am. I got back into wrestling after see him Punk were like retired the first time, or you know, retired. Uh, And but I've always like I've gone back and watched some of his stuff and I've i mean, obviously he's like loomed over everything people always talk about him. But yeah, so I'm definitely interested in seeing and seeing him coming back. So yeah, uh from Hack fifteen oh one, Oh nope, this is just something you already asked, let's see I or something I already answered. Maybe I just got an out of order here from Octo. Any chance of a Moon RPG port to something other than Switch? I think so because that game, Uh, that game. I know it has like it's like I got a cult following, and you know, if you have a cult following, you're more likely to succeed on the switch than anywhere else. But I still think, like, you know, you can put that on PlayStation or probably have a chance a chance of doing pretty well. Right, put it on game Pass, make some money and have a chance of doing pretty well. So yeah, I think there's a chance. It's probably just gonna take some time. All right, let's see how we're doing. All right, So it's it's noon, so I'm gonna do well, five ten more minutes, we'll get you know, we'll get to a full hour for this recording. We're at fifty one minutes for the recording. Let's get to a full hour at least, and then I'm gonna go get that kid ready to go to school. So from Hammond of Texas, is there any indication as to how well Apple r Kadie is doing. I am really enjoying playing games on my iPhone, iPad and even my Apple TV with controller and it now has over two hundred games. Is anyone making money dev's publishers? Is it a healthy service? Thanks? I think the devs and publishers like it. They are making money, and really is it hurting them because they could do the Apple Arcade thing, take that money up front, and then release on Switch and have another big payday without Nintendo paying them any money up front, because Switch is just such a popular platform for those styles of games that it's almost like they're getting released for a second time. And so yeah, I don't think I don't think Apple Arcade is hurting them at all. So they're gonna probably gonna keep doing it, and there for Apple Arcade probably still makes sense for everyone involved, and so it's probably doing well enough. From Abraham linked In, which is a good name, why not start doing grubs necks on Fridays around three pm Pacific time? Can't think of any schedule conflicts of course, being a little facetious. There my podcast on Fridays. So yeah, I've thought about it, but I don't want to, Like, I know you were just joking, but I don't want a bunch of a bunch of stuff on Fridays. That'd be too hectic. From pac Mantis, if Nether Realm was sold, would they still have access to Mortal Kombat? Does WV not just own the IP now, good question, fair question. Mortal Kombat is it's not it's not equivalent to like DC right where Yes, technically WB does just own Mortal Kombat now. But if you're selling Nether realm, it makes sense to bundle Nether realm with the Mortal Kombat IP. You are not going to bundle the DC Comics license or even a couple of characters. You're not gonna like sell Nether realm with Batman. Batman's worth way too much money in movies and television and comic books, and it doesn't make as much sense like it's just and then you know, and vice versa, like or if you look at it from the other the opposite angle, selling Nether Realm without Mortal Kombat. First of all, you wouldn't be able to do that, no one would buy. And then second, Mortal Kombat's not worth a whole lot without another realm. You need another realm making those games. It's not easy to spend up a studio to make a successful fighting game. If it was, other people would do it. And yes, having the Moral Combat License would help, but it just it would be worth it. You want to like bundlett stuff together and and and they would and they totally were thinking about doing that and that was the plan. And uh, it's just much it's much cleaner to do that than it is with the DC licenses. And that's the comparison there. Yeah, but dat Games makes a good point. Nether realm is to MK as Hitman was to IO Interactive. Yeah, that's I guess pretty close and pretty fair. I think it's slightly different, but I mean it was it because I was gonna say, Morral Combats had movies and Hitman had like what two or three movies? So yeah, that's a pretty good comparison. From five out of five? Is Starlink done? I know the toy video game trend is done? But did they did allow you to buy the toys digitally? I think it's done. I think it's done. I think it was an experiment and they you know, it worked fine, But I don't I don't see I don't sense any urge or hunger to go back to that. Oh okay, Bane fire Lord. Is that GTA trilogy remastered going to just be a Marial All Star style disappointment in terms of being remastered? I don't think so. I've heard, you know, not like not like it's gonna blow people away, but I've heard like pretty good things about it. You know, there's always a chance that it's going to get a very key thing wrong, like maybe it makes the aiming worse. You say that's impossible. Maybe it does. Maybe it makes aiming in those games worse or something like that and makes it unplayable. Like there's always a chance for something like that. But I don't think this is a marial all stars put the rum on the disc and sell the discs situation. I don't think that's what this is. It'll have some like updates, like some some substantial updates. They're you know, they've sold those old games over and over again at this point. They are probably interested in treating now as a chance to get those games in a situation where they make sense and a modern context going forward, so they can once again sell them over and over and over again for the next ten fifteen years. From Devon O seven thoughts on how well Flight Simulator is doing for Microsoft. Any chance Microsoft acquires a SOBO, I think a sobo it is definitely a conversation that has been happening in it is and is still happening. I think Flight Simulator did just as well as they thought it was gonna do. It was never going to be like a massive seller on console, especially when like that's a game that just if it's on game Pass, just try it on game Pass, and the very very hardcore that want to buy the ultimate edition and have all the content and have a flight set up. That was always though going to be a small audience, and everyone else is like, I'm just gonna try Flight Simulator for the first time of my life. Of course they got it on game Pass. It's not the same thing as some of these other games that like got a sales boost because of of game Pass. Flight Seeing there's the kind of thing where you just dive, you just dabbling it in game Pass when you want to Abraham LinkedIn asks what are you look most looking forward to playing in playing before the end of the year, mentioned like Metroid dread and and uh Warrior Ware I do want to see uh I want to call it. I was gonna say double fine, but that's a developer. What's the one from Arcane Leone not dishonored that the game that they're making. My brain is broken now I go for an hour and these things and then I just start for getting things a wholesale. At a certain point, I want to try that one and see if it fits with me, see if, like if it clicks. I mean, I know I could describe the game. It's like their their hit Man style immersive sem but yeah, there's that, but mostly it's Metroid dread. I'm even interested in getting my switch oh lad and stuff like that and playing that on there and then uh and then really the thing I want more than anything is a Steam deck, So I hope mine comes in December. I hope I get a Redee version before that. Honestly, we'll see death Loop. Thank you, chat, thank you so much. That's just you could. Can you see the gears like crunching behind my eyeballs. I'm trying to see if I can find a good one, because we are. We've got like two minutes left. Any thoughts on a new Silent Hill game being rumored, I've I've continued to say, I haven't heard anything, but there are people who have. Andy Robinson over at VGC and Nate the Hate Go ask them about it. They seem pretty confident, so and I'm rooting for them for that stuff to get announced. That feels like the kind of thing where maybe we finally do hear about that at a state of lay right, you fill out the rest of this year and then you drop something like that as like one of your big announcements that that could work. And Andrey Magnus, I wonder what's going on with System Shock three? Is in development hell or something? And also night that I've planned to release System Shock remake the summer. It's the it's the middle of August already. Yeah, I think they're just having some issues with development. I don't know if it's development hell, but you know what defines development development Hell. I think it has some issues. So yeah, uh Jordan Midler, Hey Jeff, and Hey Jordan, how's going then? Uh? NBA two K twenty two was out in three weeks and they've shown zero gameplay. Should I be concerned for my virtual b ball? Probably not. It's it's gonna continue to be what that franchise has been recently, which is, yeah, diminishing returns for people who loved it, like when it was like like the dominant thing coming out and being like the basketball game and being like the sports game and and writing like at number one or number two or number three on the charts for a month after month on the MPD, it's it's definitely seen. It's diminished since then slightly, and but it's still going to continue to be that game for the most part. So maybe it's not a huge update over last year. But I wouldn't be too concerned. I mean, I mean, unless that's concerning to you and you're like, oh, I don't know if I want just the same thing again, which at this point it might be. All right, I'm gonna I'm gonna scroll the top. Someone someone's asked the question recently as your gale, what comments what condiments do you like to put on your hot dogs? I like ketchup and mustard, yellow mustard, and then I liked, uh, you know, chili, Skyline Chili, Cincinnati, Ohio Chili. I think I'm pretty sure Skyline is a is a giant bomb thing where they've talked about that before, where I do like that, I don't. I'm not gonna put it on my spaghetti. I know they have three ways or whatever they call them at Skyline. I always just got it on the hot dogs, and that's delicious, all right, don't judge me, all right, let's do one last one here, Nannerpus with the great name there, do you know if there's a truth to the rumors that Nintendo has completed the Metroid Prime remix but it is sitting on them to release closer to the to the new Prime games. Pretty sure that rumor came from me, So I'm pretty sure that's the case. I know that they've been working on them. Uh. And and I know that there was concern of the you know, they would have trouble like getting the games working on on these new systems or whatever, and they don't have the code or whatever They've built, like with the Mario three D, with the Mario three D all Stars thing, they built a lot of tools to make it easy to just like put those games on there and to apply stuff like on a top layer over those games. You can watch MVG's videos about the Super Mario three D all Stars to kind of get an idea what I'm talking about there. So I think that they probably be able to get those games in a good, good situation where it's not as much work as some of the old retro developers are making it sound like. And uh and yes, I think they are holding it until it's closer to Metroid Prime four as part of a marketing plan, and this is something we've seen them do before, so they're probably doing it again. All right, let's wrap this up. Thanks for watching everybody. I know, I know, like an hour long show is shorter than what we normally do. I'm gonna have to find probably a different time slot next week. I'll talk to I'll talk to back Lauren, Jane and Gersmin see see what works for them. But there's like a time when like one kid's at school, and then there's a time when another kids at school, and I'll probably get start like right after I get back from dropping them off. We'll figure that out. But thank you for watching everybody once again. That was a really fun show. Thank you for all the questions. I really appreciate it. I will try to look up some more of this stuff that the list has got a lot of stuff that's like getting kind of old where I'm like, I should like double check and see if there is any any information on this stuff, and I'll come back with that next week. But until then, take care of yourself. Have a good one. Goodbye, Go watch the go watch the quake con thing. Let's see if there's any news there. I think the gets heard the stream was crashing and burning. We'll see the state of it all right, everybody have a good one and uh and oh yeah, yummy, yummy,
