Story About Bella

You—my—okay. I will never forget when I got Bella,  my first goat ever. I will never forget this.

It was the—I wish I could have captured it, because it’s the funniest image in my brain. When I got Bella, she was like,  I don’t know, 10 weeks old.

And, you know, because we  didn’t have our fence finished,  I was keeping her in the house. And it was really cold, so I was like,

“I’m going to keep her in the  house for like a month or two,  just so that we’re bonded and besties.” So if you were here during the house goat era, it was a fun time for the time that we had it.

And so I tried to get her—  and she did get to where  she was fine with the dogs. It got to where everyone was fine together.

But at first, I was trying to  introduce her one at a time.  And, you know, she was wearing a diaper and she was laying with me a bunch,

because for the first few days I  didn’t let the dogs in with her,  so she was comfortable with me. And I introduced her to Kimmy, and Kimmy seemed fine.

Kimmy is my seven-pound miniature dachshund, okay? She seemed fine.  She was a little frantic  and sniffing her and stuff,

but she didn’t seem like she  was going to do anything. And so I look down— because I’m holding them both

and they had seemed to settle in— I thought they were just laying in my lap. Yeah. I look down,

and Kimmy’s just looking at me with this goat’s leg in her mouth. Oh my gosh. Like she just— She’s just gnawing on it.

And I’m like, “What is happening?”  Because Bella wasn’t doing anything. She didn’t feel anything.

And Kimmy’s just got this whole leg in her mouth. And I’m like, “Okay.”  So Kimmy—her prey drive is there.

She just doesn’t have that— It’s good to know she can’t do much. I don’t think she can do much. Unfortunately, I don’t think she has much of a—

She’s killed one mouse in her life, and that was a big day for her.
