Episode 126 - The Blood Ravens pt 2 - the events of Dawn of war 2 and 3.
On today’s cast we conclude our coverage of the blood ravens. With a brief trip to Dawn of War Soulstorm, and then a hard dive into the Dawn of War 2 series. From the chapter fighting off the orks, the eldar, the tyrandids. And then later fighting off chaos, and discovering the betrayal within their own chapter, and fighting that off, even a greater daemon. From there we go into Dawn of War 3 and the wild events of that game, namely them once again fighting a greater daemon, along with orks, chaos, eldar, etc. We then talk about the latest lore on the Blood Ravens in modern 40k, with them joining Guilliman in his crusade. We then close out with some of our theories on the origins of the Blood Ravens, that we hope will get revealed by GW in the coming editions.

[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the Forty K-Lorecast. [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to Forty Kaylor Cats with me, John Barsadian, Brad Chester. [SPEAKER_01]: This guy. [SPEAKER_01]: Today's cast, we're continuing our coverage of the Blood Ravens, because again, Dawn of War Four is coming and we're really hoping it doesn't suck. [SPEAKER_01]: It actually is all very soft and comfortable [SPEAKER_00]: It's actually legit extra, I wear it and I put effort into it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I put effort into our mind. [SPEAKER_01]: I was just the major that we did not get the hot garbage that usually comes out. [SPEAKER_00]: We did have a long talk about this because the first time I got some of a merchandise I went, hey, man, how much did this cost us? [SPEAKER_00]: And you went, don't worry about it. [SPEAKER_01]: That's fine, yeah, well, our margin is not high, but it's okay because at least people where people don't get our article of clothing and throw it immediately in the garbage and going, well, never run that again, so go team. [SPEAKER_01]: really fun is the history in the 1970s, Granada was the site for the first ever all-inclusive resort. [SPEAKER_00]: I have actually dove there by the way. [SPEAKER_01]: It's beautiful. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's how there is. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't but do you sing like a stone or float like a log? [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I sing like a stone. [SPEAKER_01]: I think straight down. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's just straight down. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It is. [SPEAKER_00]: There is a tired bread. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't need ballast. [SPEAKER_00]: I just go down. [SPEAKER_01]: There he goes. [SPEAKER_01]: Ah, that's probably not ideal. [SPEAKER_01]: The last link in our show notes is to our discord. [SPEAKER_01]: Please join our discord if you haven't already. [SPEAKER_01]: We're pushing to 12,000 members right now. [SPEAKER_01]: We've done a lot of reorganizing there. [SPEAKER_01]: It's really easy to kind of get around. [SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people come in there to ask Brad and I questions, but more important, a lot of people come in there just to hang out, talk to each other about lore, memes, [SPEAKER_01]: literature recommendations, gaming recommendations, painting competitions, everything. [SPEAKER_01]: It's really, we're trying to build this thing up. [SPEAKER_01]: We've done a decent job so far as a wonderful community spot for Warhammer 40K. [SPEAKER_01]: That's, you know, inclusive for members. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you haven't joined, come on in. [SPEAKER_01]: Super fun spot. [SPEAKER_01]: but with that, let's talk really briefly about where all of John's free time went. [SPEAKER_01]: Dawn of War Soul Storm, all right. [SPEAKER_01]: Ironically, the Blood Ravens are barely in this game it turns out, that means they're in it, but from a lower standpoint, I guess it doesn't matter. [SPEAKER_01]: I have over 800 hours into this game, so... [SPEAKER_01]: Like, Brad and I were discusses before the show. [SPEAKER_01]: Brad's proud of himself because Brad, how many hours do you have into civilization? [SPEAKER_01]: 6,000 hours. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: And before we start at the cast, what did you discover about civilization? [SPEAKER_01]: I had it running for an entire day and I didn't realize it was still on right there we go so it doesn't really count does it You Brad has gone on vacation out of the country and left his civilization running so Good god, I feel I still want this argument fine All right, but just real quick because I do want to cover Soulstorm the canon and story of this is Boreal and all five companies in Soulstorm were lost. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know who won the story of Soulstorm [SPEAKER_01]: So, moving on from them rapidly. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't, there's not a real date on this, but at some point, the blood ravens established a homeworld on the world of Aurelia in the Oralian subject. [SPEAKER_00]: I actually got real blood, but if somebody could find this, I went pretty hardcore in this because I wanted to know and it is in the darkness. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know where I have a homeworld. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they just have a home world, and it's a really up. [SPEAKER_01]: So M40, a giant warp storm comes into the subsystem. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's so potent that it actually moved or really out of orbit of its sun, setting the planet into an ice age and like killing off most of its population. [SPEAKER_00]: As it's pretty crazy though, because you have, they actually succeeded, this is one of my favorites, in the fact that they succeeded in doing all the things that they needed to do. [SPEAKER_00]: the great unclean one old care came out and they had these epic battles and there was a chapter master by least my mind the chief librarian it seals him in and then the homework still consumed by the work. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's you missed a step. [SPEAKER_01]: So the blood ravens evacuate most of the population and then two people stay behind the blood ravens chapter master and master and the chief like that that's the same person and his second in command is librarian chyrus they both quoted sorry they stay behind. [SPEAKER_01]: So the chans are safe others. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, more I had as a chyrus are both there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they both stand there. [SPEAKER_01]: Mariah dies fighting Ocar. [SPEAKER_01]: And then Kai-Kirus takes advantage of the wounds, done to Ocar by Mariah, to seal Ocar inside of a really a, which then gets banished into the warp. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, forever. [SPEAKER_00]: get like for now and oh our planet's gone yeah this is by the way all the other planets in the really insub sector were totally fine because you guys that is gonna be a stop you're like they also like this was a pretty epic like metal you know me and so [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, and that just happens and the blood ravens now become a fleet-based chapter because they did they had enough time by the way to take the Fortress awful for really and put it onto one of the spaceships. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I'm gonna be John for this one. [SPEAKER_00]: Usually complain about stuff like this. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not possible to have like [SPEAKER_00]: Was the Ewok logging operation? [SPEAKER_00]: How? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm assuming about how they had a hard time getting the population of, but if they deconstructed their fortress monuments, I can explain that really simply the blood ravens are kind of shitty So they had a bunch of ships that could got people off the planet for and use those ships to get the monastery off the planet [SPEAKER_01]: Over the period like I don't know a month and a half while the warp firm just kept coming right at the planet and at the end we're like Oh, hey, we got the fortress monastery off should we get some of the people off the planet now? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I guess we can that's why it was just maybe how do you deconstruct it that that was it made for my Kia like I [SPEAKER_00]: like pulling it up. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, oh yeah, they bring the Allen wrench set. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm doing it quickly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, that's my issue with that. [SPEAKER_00]: I was just like, we took the Fortress Monastery and added to the fleet. [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, how, like, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So the blood rave is now decided to become this fleet-based chap there that kind of controls a sub-sector that just becomes a de facto recruiting world. [SPEAKER_01]: But anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: M41 comes. [SPEAKER_01]: The blood ravens have returned back to this sector after the car of a campaign. [SPEAKER_01]: We covered last time. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the one where they defeated the Necrons and a bunch of everybody, including the towel. [SPEAKER_01]: And they took a lot of losses there. [SPEAKER_01]: So their idea was, we're going to come back and we're going to replenish the chapter back in our home world and everything's going to be fine and done. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it's GW writing so it didn't, and then, you know, like, and then the orcs took offense to that and showed Yeah, it is classic GW writing because they basically get back. [SPEAKER_01]: It's he like one boot off like to get to start it's in the comfy chair get one boot off and immediately alarm goes off. [SPEAKER_01]: Fine. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, the orcs are attacking on the desert planet of Calderis and again, this always drives me nuts at every planet in the GW and I guess Star Wars 2 is one thing yeah forest moon of Endor how do these places not have polar caps like tattooing Hey, it just doesn't desert it just continues all yeah everything is one thing [SPEAKER_01]: How, how did I know we have people in our discord who are going to explain this to me? [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm, I don't see, I'm just preparing myself to be wrong. [SPEAKER_01]: But I don't see how that makes sense. [SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm ready for it. [SPEAKER_01]: The comments are beginning. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, basically most other planets just don't have seas as we continue apparently fine. [SPEAKER_01]: So Caldera is under attack by the orcs, which is not uncommon in the galaxy by the way. [SPEAKER_01]: The orcs are just jumping on space, halks, and yellow swagging all over the place. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just the way it is. [SPEAKER_01]: So the blood raven is deployed and get the diving tool to the planet to drive them away. [SPEAKER_01]: quick aside for some weird reason that drove me angry to the end of the earth. [SPEAKER_01]: This is Dawn of War 2 and it wasn't an RTS game anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why, but it just wasn't. [SPEAKER_01]: And that sucked. [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't even like a turn-based game. [SPEAKER_01]: It was just a different style of game. [SPEAKER_01]: It was still fun, but I was really mad and I'm not over it. [SPEAKER_01]: There we go. [SPEAKER_00]: I was to say, I love the fact that I'm sold now that I only want to invest. [SPEAKER_00]: Mike, this is happening too fast. [SPEAKER_01]: What's going on kids? [SPEAKER_01]: I just love RTS games and they took away our RTS game from it. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's it's more action-paced covers better. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't care. [SPEAKER_01]: I just, I want to build a base, but [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, let's get props on this though, because tools kind of bad as. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you know, the story is great. [SPEAKER_01]: So, the whole rescue's blood ravens from and dries back the orcs, and then they're attacked again. [SPEAKER_01]: But what happens is they notice the orcs are attacking the lot more like precision and strategy than orcs should. [SPEAKER_01]: Because they do find the orc lead it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's mech bad Zappa. [SPEAKER_01]: He's not against. [SPEAKER_01]: So, what's going on later? [SPEAKER_01]: And they figured out pretty quickly, because they noticed some elder. [SPEAKER_01]: like, oh, there it is. [SPEAKER_01]: And later, though, they come up upon the Orcs fighting the elder, because the elder, and this bit's weird, you have to give, you know, you're not going to give this props enough, child. [SPEAKER_00]: There's no way that we're not doing the Steve Buschewi with the elder, good. [SPEAKER_00]: Hello fellow orcs. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but this whole thing's weird because it because in the game apparently the elder were disguising themselves as orcs. [SPEAKER_01]: And neck bad zap because he's a cybernetic eye could be able to see it and goes well, that's actually an elder not an orc. [SPEAKER_01]: But here's the thing. [SPEAKER_01]: I like Eldar a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: I like Eldar lore. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not aware of the owner could do this. [SPEAKER_00]: They got powers, bro. [SPEAKER_00]: Psychic powers. [SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise known as magic. [SPEAKER_00]: Right, it works or else I could ever be. [SPEAKER_00]: What everybody did know that I definitely did. [SPEAKER_00]: Magic hand gestures when I just said that. [SPEAKER_00]: The orcs are psychic beings. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it wouldn't work. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it just this, that annoyed me. [SPEAKER_00]: But it did. [SPEAKER_00]: It works like sex method. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just a percent of it that works every time. [SPEAKER_01]: Meckbads up a saw it, right, like nope. [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, the blood ravens see this and then attack both of them, because of course they do. [SPEAKER_01]: And as they do it, the warlock leading the Eldar dies and looks at the blood ravens and goes, there's that the orcs are actually there, there's a greater threat than them on the planet, which is blah, blah, blah foreshadow. [SPEAKER_01]: loud, loud, loud for Shadow. [SPEAKER_01]: Because it's parts of her legs. [SPEAKER_01]: We talked about it in the last cast. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do it again now. [SPEAKER_01]: In the last cast, we opened with and I talked about your shit on this. [SPEAKER_01]: The Blood Ravens are supposed to be this chapter. [SPEAKER_01]: It's very heavily psychically gifted. [SPEAKER_01]: They love prequel sites. [SPEAKER_01]: their pre-cocks, they do tons of research into it. [SPEAKER_01]: They are masters of understanding their enemies and the movements of their enemies. [SPEAKER_01]: And in this situation that is when shut up, nerd and stab the far sea and move down with their dead, to go kill the orcs. [SPEAKER_01]: Didn't even investigate one little bit of this and it is where I do have to say this part of the game, while [SPEAKER_00]: kind of cool in the way the things you have to accomplish is pretty really no one saw that coming because you have all of the harmful stuff that was all the plants beginning to attack everything. [SPEAKER_00]: The Astropast get a shadow in the warp. [SPEAKER_00]: You're like, hey man, what causes that? [SPEAKER_00]: Who knows? [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe probably turn it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's definitely turn it. [SPEAKER_00]: They finally kill Bad Zappa. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, woohoo, we've won. [SPEAKER_00]: This is obvious. [SPEAKER_01]: And you get overrun by tyrannism. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, instantly. [SPEAKER_01]: It's actually, it's a cool mission. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's a fun mission, because you get overrun to the end. [SPEAKER_01]: If you try to hold out, you can't, that if you'm credit, it actually is very similar to Titus and Space Marine II when you're playing it because they're just the endless hordes of termagons. [SPEAKER_01]: They keep coming at you. [SPEAKER_00]: By the way, those first stages should not have made because I refuse to listen. [SPEAKER_00]: That stuff, so I will take hours and hours and hours keep trying to win the unwindable mission. [SPEAKER_00]: Congratulations. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm an idiot. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I just want to really solidify that for aware. [SPEAKER_01]: Or what? [SPEAKER_01]: It's cast one twenty six, Brad. [SPEAKER_01]: You guys have figured it out. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that Rubik's Cube got solved. [SPEAKER_01]: You saw it? [SPEAKER_01]: Because you had to turn one side. [SPEAKER_01]: Quick. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll look at the end of it. [SPEAKER_01]: But they do that luckily for the Blood Ravens there, they're able to flee before getting completely wallets by the Tyrannids. [SPEAKER_01]: And they sent a note out and Captain Angelos from the very first series. [SPEAKER_01]: is able to get word from the Ashbaths before the Shadow Warp comes in and he says, hey, I'm on my way. [SPEAKER_01]: Just hold out. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, in a side of the story, game wise and story wise, I felt that this was, what do you rank this in this feels like Tyrann's, you know, in, oh, it was great. [SPEAKER_01]: It was the Tyrannids in Donovor II or one of the better play. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, space ring II is the best here in its kind of like it was extremely well done, but this really does capture Tyrann's well. [SPEAKER_00]: I like this one. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a chord quite, I just think the feel of just the endless [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that would, throughout the whole game, even like when you encounter electors in this game, I will say, all right, I'm going to call it out. [SPEAKER_01]: Right now, there's some, we'll go with omages from space bringing to into Don of War II, and I'm going to tell you there are a lot more than omages in my opinion, because let's talk about what they have to do next. [SPEAKER_01]: So the blood ravens are left with a problem. [SPEAKER_01]: The problem is Captain Angela's is coming, but they have to buy themselves time. [SPEAKER_01]: So they have to do a few things. [SPEAKER_01]: They have to create a poison that will work against the Territis. [SPEAKER_01]: They have to find a way to [SPEAKER_01]: They have to gain control of the astronomicalness and message out. [SPEAKER_01]: Huh. [SPEAKER_01]: That doesn't sound familiar to me. [SPEAKER_01]: I've done recently in games. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: Ooh. [UNKNOWN]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a... Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I was about like, wait. [SPEAKER_01]: I've literally done this more recently. [SPEAKER_00]: Ah. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's see. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to throw my boys into the bus. [SPEAKER_00]: Because the L.R. [SPEAKER_00]: We're not big, nice. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the elder shift is the elder of funny. [SPEAKER_01]: So as you play through the game, you're doing these things. [SPEAKER_01]: So you make the poison. [SPEAKER_01]: Then you must produce the poison. [SPEAKER_01]: You're actually end up making your dread not thanks to the poison, which is kind of cool. [SPEAKER_01]: You get the astronomical kind. [SPEAKER_01]: You're saying that all the notes, everything's kind of working your favor. [SPEAKER_01]: But the elder just keep attacking. [SPEAKER_01]: Like why are you attacking us? [SPEAKER_01]: There are tiering it's here. [SPEAKER_01]: basically stop being a dick and they discover why. [SPEAKER_01]: The reason why is because there's a craft world not too far. [SPEAKER_00]: Look at everything about this. [SPEAKER_00]: They're like, Eldar, look guys. [SPEAKER_00]: We're seeing things and we're trying to move things in time so that it really makes a better outcome. [SPEAKER_00]: And you're like an outcome for everyone. [SPEAKER_00]: They're like, [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, sure. [SPEAKER_00]: Or we're using this as Operation Human Shield and Orks Shield to stop the tearheads from getting to their craft world. [SPEAKER_00]: Then you realize, oh, you guys were just using us to get in the way so you can drive away. [SPEAKER_01]: The tier in its head two plans plan number one was get the orgs involved Turn into a big enough fight and basically quiz recruitment did out in the Octares sector where this would be a perpetual motion machine and It'll be a horrible problem later, but right now it's contained [SPEAKER_01]: or but then the blood ravens killed the orcs so that one went away so they had to have an option be and the elder had a fantastic option be in the middle of the early insecter is the capital maridian and the elder realized the tyrannin is are going to like eat maridian because it's got lots of stuff on it. [SPEAKER_01]: but has lots of defenders on it. [SPEAKER_01]: So if we get rid of the defenders, the tyranny and high fleet will go right at Meridian. [SPEAKER_01]: And then when it does that, and he gets with us the meridian, we'll just blow up Meridian. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I kill the high fleet. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was going to say 32 billion people. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but you know how many craft worlds are on the planet? [SPEAKER_01]: Zero. [SPEAKER_01]: Zero. [SPEAKER_01]: But also, I should point out 100% 100% Something the Imperium would do. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, this is planned like 8.2. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Imperium's like kill the high fleet. [SPEAKER_01]: Adds difficult. [SPEAKER_01]: Blow up a world note in the middle. [SPEAKER_01]: There's people on it. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, no. [SPEAKER_01]: That works. [SPEAKER_01]: We've got lots of people. [SPEAKER_01]: We've got people to spare. [SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead. [SPEAKER_01]: Blow it up. [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, the blood ravens are able to stop the elder, manufacturer, all the poisons do all this stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: And they are actually able to deploy the poison into the tiered fleet. [SPEAKER_01]: which affects the tyrannids, but doesn't quite stop them all the way, and they still are getting overrun by the tyrannids who are affected by the poison and cough cough tightness. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't understand how this was this close, but. [SPEAKER_01]: GW writing. [SPEAKER_01]: So from defeat, from the jaws of defeat comes that trajectory from the jaws of the feet. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, the elder do have to give the big metal finger of we told you this is going to happen. [SPEAKER_01]: You shouldn't just let us use an operation human shield. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, and it works out though, because Captain Angelos and the entire fourth copy of Blood Ravens translate into the system, they teleport down to Typhon where they're in most of the fighting and kill alternatives for the most part. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, Blood Ravens. [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of funny because it is very anti-climatic because you're like, we're going to get overrun and we did everything we could and we won, we just won, we just wasn't that said when we had more space marines turns out that's only just more space marines. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, if you bring enough, you just always win. [SPEAKER_01]: Problem solved. [SPEAKER_01]: So that brings us from there to Dawn of War II chaos rising. [SPEAKER_01]: This was the DLC for Dawn of War II. [SPEAKER_01]: It released a year after the game came out, which is convenient, because it set one year after the events of the game. [SPEAKER_01]: So, way to go, writers, I was pretty good. [SPEAKER_01]: But, in order to do it, we have to go back in time [SPEAKER_01]: Kyrus, that the librarian, who banished O'Kyre to the great unclean one to O'Rillia, what turns out like 500 years after the planet disappeared into the warp, he reappeared on a spacehole named the Judgment of Karyan. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so I'm the story's epic. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, forshadowing, the entire story is called the Fall. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh god, I'm so sorry for shadowing this entire episode. [SPEAKER_01]: Dark angels fans you're going to be upset. [SPEAKER_00]: So, again, if you spent 500 years in the war, just say it, I'm probably going to put a few extra protocols of this guy before I just let him run while the mugs people. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So, a spacehulk called the judgment of Caryan translates into their really insecter. [SPEAKER_01]: And the blood ravens force, [SPEAKER_01]: goes aboard to see what's going on in this thing. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's a giant spaceship covered in rotten decay. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, you could have just blown it up, but now, you know, let's go and wander around. [SPEAKER_01]: And the ship is full of tear and it's in demons. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what's full of and the blood Ravens task force are fighting through and ball fighting through. [SPEAKER_01]: They run into Cairo's their former librarian who just hang out in the ship. [SPEAKER_01]: He does the whole like, oh, thank the emperor you're here. [SPEAKER_01]: I was barely hanging on by a bread. [SPEAKER_00]: By the way, I'm sorry, but at this point time, you just shoot this guy. [SPEAKER_00]: He's in the middle of all the corrupt stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: It he goes like, no, so many questions about how you're still here. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, let's just ignore the heresy and move on. [SPEAKER_01]: It's, let's call it as, have you seen Devent Horizon? [SPEAKER_01]: Ta-da, that's who you walked it on. [SPEAKER_00]: It's part of who? [SPEAKER_00]: As he's holding his eyes and his hands. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so like, what? [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know, over the course of a few hours days, it's not clear the blood ravens find themselves trapped in the ship. [SPEAKER_01]: They can't escape. [SPEAKER_01]: It turns out, the only way to end up getting out is Kyris makes a deal with Ocar at the great unclean when he banished. [SPEAKER_01]: He's going to deliver fresh gene seed of the blood ravens to Ocar, which is a nice like blood ravens gene seed might have some value. [SPEAKER_01]: But as part of the deal, Ocar then has a demon possessed the apothecary who came along with him on the ship. [SPEAKER_01]: and then from there it gets weirder. [SPEAKER_01]: So up until that point, that's how weird enough. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's make this weirder. [SPEAKER_01]: So the blood ravens leave the few who survive, which is basically chyrus and is a pothachary leave. [SPEAKER_01]: They get back to the rest of blood ravens who go, hey, um, we send like 30 guys in there. [SPEAKER_01]: Where are they? [SPEAKER_01]: And chyrus goes, oh yeah, they're dead. [SPEAKER_01]: Cool. [SPEAKER_00]: Awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: How are you alive? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Not a single person asked the question of, so you've been in the war for 500 years. [SPEAKER_01]: Got suspicious? [SPEAKER_01]: Nope. [SPEAKER_01]: I won. [SPEAKER_01]: Kyris ends up becoming the chapter master of the blood ravens. [SPEAKER_01]: And the apothecary bad decisions. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The apothecary who's been possessed by a demon is now the honor guard for the chapter master. [SPEAKER_01]: in a chapter who's made up of librarians. [SPEAKER_01]: It's all librarians, and there is a demon infused apothecary wandering around, don't you? [SPEAKER_00]: No one seemed to notice this one. [SPEAKER_00]: Even if the cuts, this is so funny, because they do not address this at all. [SPEAKER_00]: He's just like, hello fellow space marines. [SPEAKER_00]: I am good, you're like, you're in charge now, and he goes, I knew it all the wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: It just, what? [SPEAKER_00]: No, so much, no. [SPEAKER_01]: So back to Donna Warp, we'll be right back after a quick break. [SPEAKER_01]: So Donna Warp, we're a year after the tyrannid fight. [SPEAKER_01]: Sub-sector's still messed up. [SPEAKER_01]: Everyone's, there's still cleaning up tyrannids. [SPEAKER_01]: Cause the problem with tyrannids is you kind of I clean them up. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't just like, we surrender, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: So now the warp gets all riled up and a really pops back into real space. [SPEAKER_01]: From the warp, [SPEAKER_01]: Just saying again, from the warp. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, the blood ravens see this, and as it immerse the warp, they get a distress call from it. [SPEAKER_01]: And their thought isn't, oh, that's obviously a trap. [SPEAKER_01]: No, they go, oh look, some of our brothers must still be there after a thousand years, let's go help. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, they get there and they're immediately attacked by Trader Guardsman. [SPEAKER_01]: What? [SPEAKER_01]: Or, or just regular Guardsman who saw their blood ravens and might not take in that risk. [SPEAKER_01]: Just say, they've got a bit of a history. [SPEAKER_01]: little bit of history, um, but they do those guys. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It was cast guardsman. [SPEAKER_01]: The blood Ravens and escape the attack from the Trader guardsman and they get attacked by Eldar because of course they do because it turns out Eurelia also has ancient Eldar ruins on it and the Eldar went there and went, wake up a bunch of raith guards. [SPEAKER_01]: We're not done yet because also [SPEAKER_01]: let's give the game a little bit you still have to make up a reason why all these factions are available to play I mean come on it's not an RTS they're not that's the problem and not really that available to play it's it's the games it's a different stuff it's fine [SPEAKER_01]: All right, but now back on Aurelia, there's, you know, that has been in the warp for a thousand years, has a giant chaos temple on it? [SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe it. [SPEAKER_01]: Which by the way is a surprise in the game. [SPEAKER_01]: We've discovered a giant chaos temple there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, guys, it was implied. [SPEAKER_01]: Like it's been in the warp for a thousand years. [SPEAKER_01]: If there wasn't a giant chaos temple, then I had more questions. [SPEAKER_01]: Just candidly. [SPEAKER_01]: they attack the temple and the blood ravens find themselves fighting demons that are being pulled into the material by the temple. [SPEAKER_01]: And so they do what any good space to me would do. [SPEAKER_01]: They blow up the temple. [SPEAKER_00]: I like this one because it's not because the temple is actually a part of the planet itself. [SPEAKER_00]: It's almost like the heart of the planet. [SPEAKER_00]: They are blowing it up [SPEAKER_00]: starts to tear things of thunder. [SPEAKER_00]: And that makes sense for a planet that's been in the warped this long. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, that, that temple itself is part of the planet. [SPEAKER_00]: I just like that this piece. [SPEAKER_01]: Quite a bit. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I like the next piece. [SPEAKER_01]: Because the next piece of this is actually becomes the choose your own adventure element of this. [SPEAKER_01]: So, [SPEAKER_01]: As the Blood Ravens flea really, data Scarves has traded amongst them. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't know which one. [SPEAKER_01]: And here's the fun thing. [SPEAKER_01]: It's because it's not canon, which one it is. [SPEAKER_01]: The game is designed. [SPEAKER_01]: You're going to, as you play the game, you make a number of choices you play through the game. [SPEAKER_01]: Depending on the level of corruption and the choices you make, it'll determine who in your, you know, ret new, or is the trader. [SPEAKER_01]: Kind of a cool little piece. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it was fun. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't realize the first time I played through it. [SPEAKER_01]: So it allows you to play the game through a few different times. [SPEAKER_01]: But, [SPEAKER_01]: They discover that there's encrypted messages being sent around, they can't decipher. [SPEAKER_01]: They also, around this time, get a message from Kyrus. [SPEAKER_01]: He sends his honor guard to the system with orders to disengage from the Black Legion, because I should have mentioned the Black Legion that's been attacking them here. [SPEAKER_01]: and all blood ravens are ordered to retreat and not engage the Black Legion, which makes zero sense, by the way, by zero. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, why would we ask? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and the protagonists, all go, yeah, we're gonna not do that. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll tell you we're gonna do it, but we're not gonna do it. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, trying to figure out what's really going on, they discover that this space Hulk, the judgment of Caryon, has been coming in and out of the system for hundreds of years, randomly. [SPEAKER_01]: And when it does, there seems to be some transmissions going around. [SPEAKER_01]: The blood ravens then discover the judgment of Caron has what's called a logic engine in it, which is the supercomputer, for like a better phrase, and if they can get access to this logic engine, they could actually crack the encoding that's being used by the chaos and the traders to figure out who the trader is and what the messages are. [SPEAKER_01]: So now it's their turn to go board the judgment of Caron. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, judgment of carrying on, they get in there. [SPEAKER_01]: Still tear and it's running around. [SPEAKER_00]: So go tear and it's space, all except tear and it's on board. [SPEAKER_01]: Come on now, it's fine. [SPEAKER_01]: What's interesting though is they also, when they come in there, they start finding the remains of blood raven marines. [SPEAKER_01]: The important pieces to all the blood ravens have had their genes seem extracted and packed away, but never collected. [SPEAKER_01]: And the category of what's going on until the end of the big reveal. [SPEAKER_01]: The big reveal is a data slate from the Apothecary Gailin. [SPEAKER_01]: And Gailin talks about how the expedition into the judgment of Caryan has gone all wrong. [SPEAKER_01]: They are, everyone is dead. [SPEAKER_01]: The demon Ocar is speaking into him. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he's just about to say, one of the biggest things for it is he's part of the correspondence. [SPEAKER_00]: He knows the demon Ocar wants the gene seed, [SPEAKER_00]: which no one knows about, and that he's packed it up and sealed it to keep it away from the demon. [SPEAKER_00]: And everybody's kind of like, what? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is weird, but he also talks about how Caiarist is acting weird, and just, it basically implying that Caiarist is corrupted. [SPEAKER_01]: And they all assume Gailin's dead by the way, because we read this, he's basically saying, this is my last transmission, it's over, we're all gonna die. [SPEAKER_01]: So whatever, they eventually get to the logic engine, which they then grab and does the thing it always does, which is it's gonna decrypt the message, but it's gonna take a while. [SPEAKER_01]: So go do some other stuff, go do these three other missions. [SPEAKER_01]: And we don't know those three missions, we'll tell you, but decrypts to. [SPEAKER_01]: In effect, they leave the judgment of carrying because they're able to leave it, whatever, and they're gonna message for the Imperial Guard who are under attack on Meridian. [SPEAKER_01]: And they decide to do the un-blood-raven thing and help the Imperial Guard. [SPEAKER_00]: And also do what they were not told to do or they were told exactly not to do which is engage the Black Legion Which also didn't make any sense that they weren't supposed to engage but and they actually sack one of the big guys [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not only do they save the Imperial Guard, but they actually kill one of the leaders of the Black Legion, only because that leader gets backstabbed by his number two. [SPEAKER_01]: And effectively, his number two is supposed to teleport him away. [SPEAKER_01]: He teleports in to talk a bunch of shit, and then goes, all right, teleport me out. [SPEAKER_01]: And the guy goes, ah, you're breaking up, ah, can't hear you. [SPEAKER_01]: And then he gets killed by the blood ravens, but now the logic engine kicks in and they discover a bunch of things. [SPEAKER_01]: First off, that Gailin is not dead and he's alive and part of the honor guard and he's obviously corrupted. [SPEAKER_01]: At the same time, this crazy order comes in. [SPEAKER_01]: Telling them all blood ravens are ordered to abandon subsector really. [SPEAKER_01]: We're not even going to bother with it anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: At which point that Captain Angelos comes back into the fridge goes, yeah, no, we're not doing that. [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, just no. [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely not. [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: And he goes and confronts the leader of the honor guard a guy named Diomedes. [SPEAKER_01]: And the two of them have a bit of a argument that results in Diomedes declaring Angelos. [SPEAKER_01]: And then the characters you control, the end of the blood ravens, traders. [SPEAKER_01]: And he'd be killed on Saturdays. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And, but while that's all happening, the other squad goes to confront Apothecary Gaelin, because, again, really obvious this guy is corrupted. [SPEAKER_01]: And when they get to him, yeah, he is. [SPEAKER_01]: It's him, and a bunch of heavily corrupted spacemars. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, they all have a death or a chaos or about them. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like, hey, man, how long of the guy's been [SPEAKER_01]: with the giant or ring of evil light around them, I want to put out this guy is part of the honor guard that Diomedes is leading. [SPEAKER_01]: So they go there, they kill him and all these guys while killing him though, Galen does it. [SPEAKER_01]: because demons will do this. [SPEAKER_01]: If you kill someone who's demon possessed, the demon will actually flee, so it doesn't die. [SPEAKER_01]: So as it leaves, Galen now gets back to being a regular space Marine and tells them all the stuff about like, oh yeah, Kyris is totally corrupted. [SPEAKER_01]: Just heads up on that one and also thanks for saving me. [SPEAKER_01]: and gives them some more information about the judgment of Carriam. [SPEAKER_01]: So Diomedes arrives and he's pissed because you just killed as a pothor carry, but you're able to show him, hey, good news, our chapter master is corrupted, but we killed another guy who was, let's see, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to show in my mind, I wanted it to be different because of the fact that it's so obvious that they're corrupted that you could have just been like, here's the evidence, open your eyes for five seconds you don't. [SPEAKER_01]: We're done, man. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't need to. [SPEAKER_01]: You have to pee in any cups. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going. [SPEAKER_01]: I have ice. [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks. [SPEAKER_01]: So, what happens next is they realize that the Black Legion are going to raise okay and they're going to free him. [SPEAKER_01]: So they have to go do something about that because they grade on clean one, roaming around just isn't ideal. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just in general. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not ideal. [SPEAKER_01]: So they do that. [SPEAKER_01]: And I will say, [SPEAKER_01]: I have some who plays the game of table top, killing right on clean one sucks. [SPEAKER_01]: It is genuinely hard. [SPEAKER_01]: It is like a brand-new book. [SPEAKER_01]: Like the strategy, if you play table top 40, okay, and so I'm gonna bring it right on clean one, is to kill everything other than the great on clean one, because it's just not easy. [SPEAKER_01]: That math sucks. [SPEAKER_01]: But in the game, you get to do it. [SPEAKER_01]: So I've actually think I've killed more great on clean ones in donoflure. [SPEAKER_01]: It's on a floor. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I have on table top, it's on the table top. [SPEAKER_01]: I think I've ever killed three. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I got lucky on one with no one on me it was it was one of my who knows pipe this probably works Almost always oh no it was guard. [SPEAKER_01]: I got him a guard. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that's a that's hell of a drug Yeah, yeah guard. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll do some um guard can party but [SPEAKER_01]: So they kill, they only kill, they re-banish, okay, they mess up Black Legion and everything is right except for the fact that they are traitors to their own chapter and have to run away before the Blood Gravens, the other Blood Gravens huddled that and killed them. [SPEAKER_01]: And so it's a bit weird anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: So now that concludes Donovor II Chaos Rising. [SPEAKER_01]: And we wait one more year of our lives, and we get to Dawn of War to Retribution. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is actually set 10 years later, and wraps up was gonna rip the storyline of the Blood Ravens, and then more 40K additions came out, so we got more. [SPEAKER_01]: So this is set 10 years, this one gets a little bit good. [SPEAKER_01]: We have to do it a little, it's a song time warp. [SPEAKER_01]: So I know it's just a jump to the left and then to the right, the time warp. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the wild thing about this is it's a tough 10 years, by the way, because apparently things went bananas in the sector. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so in the 10 years since, unfortunately, the space marines did have to leave the sector. [SPEAKER_01]: So, Ulcare couldn't be brought back, but chaos is still rampant. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got tyrannids are still floating around. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got Orcs sense the fight they showed up, the sector's a giant mess. [SPEAKER_01]: and the loyal blood ravens are they're actually still in the sector, but they're almost like guerilla warfare fighting against chaos and orcs and tiering. [SPEAKER_01]: It's all trying to not be found by the blood ravens who they're part of. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a whole big mess. [SPEAKER_01]: But what they discover is about 10 years after they learn that chyrus is returning to Orealia. [SPEAKER_01]: and they realize this is their chance to kill him and save their chapter. [SPEAKER_01]: So they deploy this like sudden assault on Typhoon to confront him. [SPEAKER_01]: Only to be immediately counterattack by the elder. [SPEAKER_01]: And once again, so they get there, the Eldar are performing a strange ritual when they get there. [SPEAKER_01]: And they attack them. [SPEAKER_01]: And again, when a point out every freaking time, and I say freaking time, I'm not talking like a 40K lore and in books, I am saying in the Dawn of War series. [SPEAKER_01]: Every single time the Eldar are performing a ritual, let him perform it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's almost always good for you, but they never do. [SPEAKER_01]: They never even ask, hey, man, what's you doing? [SPEAKER_01]: Every time it's shoot them. [SPEAKER_01]: And then afterwards go, oh yeah, that ritual would have been kind of cool and helpful. [SPEAKER_01]: So, they attacked the elder. [SPEAKER_01]: It turns out the whole reason the elder were doing this was actually to stop just giant fleet coming. [SPEAKER_01]: So, the high risk. [SPEAKER_01]: had a plan. [SPEAKER_01]: Kyris actually was never where he was supposed to be. [SPEAKER_01]: Kyris pretended he was there so that these blood raven like, well, the loyalists would show up, find the elder, and kill the elder, and stop the elder ritual. [SPEAKER_01]: Why? [SPEAKER_01]: Because the second ritual stops, the inquisition arrives and blows up the planet. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to have to say that this is one of the few times, because I'm not a big [SPEAKER_00]: Wow, they just did the right thing on these ones because everything is corrupt around here. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: The inquisition against have been watching from afar and seeing like this entire sub-sector just just fall apart. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just trash fire. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and English you went look reclaiming this is just going to be way too much work, but we're not going to let the enemy have it. [SPEAKER_01]: So exterminate us time. [SPEAKER_01]: And they just arrive and start blowing planets up one by one. [SPEAKER_01]: So the loyalists have to flee while they're exterminate us and down. [SPEAKER_01]: The problem is that this is actually Chirus' plan. [SPEAKER_01]: Chirus wants this. [SPEAKER_01]: He pulled the blood ravens out of the system that can dawn of war to chaos rising because he wanted the system to go to hell, which would invoke the wrath of the Inquisition, which would lead to an exterminate us. [SPEAKER_00]: because, well, if you need to have a blood ritual and you need the death of millions, or, sorry, billions, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It's, you can go around stabbing each one, or you can outsource it to somebody they could just drop bombs and blow up a whole time. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let the imperial navy do it, they're good at it. [SPEAKER_01]: So he built this giant base on a, [SPEAKER_01]: planet with monuments the chaos got so as the inquisition starts exterminating planets in the sub-sector there's that death and feeds into this giant monument and in the center of the monument is kyrus just feeding off this like the emperor the golden throne but you know but different but not that different and his is going to be different so he's yeah he's going here's [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Captain Angela's learns that, and he's not about that. [SPEAKER_01]: So the lowest blood ravens decide to throw themselves at Kyrus in his base. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, now, he poor Angela's because he's [SPEAKER_00]: Not he didn't do it. [SPEAKER_00]: He didn't wait long enough to get the Primera's treatment, which is way the better way to get this. [SPEAKER_01]: This story is funny because I got a huge kick out of this because first off Chyrus is based by the way, because some of you might be wondering, well, wouldn't the exterminators just blow up Chyrus's base? [SPEAKER_01]: No, because the encryption are also really stupid, because apparently Kyrus built his base on a world that the blood ravens had exterminatists in one of the prior games. [SPEAKER_01]: So therefore, it's already been exterminatists, no reason to waste the munitions. [SPEAKER_00]: Or to take a look, because he's got... Or even look at it. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: Mountains to care. [SPEAKER_00]: No, he's got these. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_01]: Why? [SPEAKER_01]: It looks. [SPEAKER_01]: why even bother checking. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, scanning in the 41st month. [SPEAKER_00]: You could have just had not strong. [SPEAKER_00]: Look out the window ago. [SPEAKER_00]: I can totally see giants, skyscraper monuments to chaos. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: That's that tracks. [SPEAKER_01]: But anyway. [SPEAKER_01]: So Captain Angela goes down and he's mortally wounded by Chyrus, a depressed point. [SPEAKER_01]: He's then rebuilt with bionics. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's really weird. [SPEAKER_00]: So much [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, not really because it dawn of War 3's bad ass as hell, but it's weird. [SPEAKER_01]: Because the problem is though, he's mortally wounded, but he's not dread not mortally wounded. [SPEAKER_01]: And to Brad's point, he's not, literally, the game was written before Primera's mortally wounded existed, so that that happens. [SPEAKER_01]: So he's like $1 million man Robo Cop mortally wounded. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why, but not end 209 Robocob, actual Robocob. [SPEAKER_01]: Let it end but faster. [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, they do save him though, and the other loyalist forces while he's doing this, make it the Chirus, and as he turned into a demon prince, they slay him. [SPEAKER_01]: Because in the process of turning into a demon prince, you're at your weakest. [SPEAKER_01]: Is this a plot for Space Marine One? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah it is. [SPEAKER_01]: just call that one out. [SPEAKER_00]: But then, Angela's leads the most righteous campaign in most electrifying this is the best part of the entirety of the Blood Ravens lore. [SPEAKER_00]: 100% because of the fact that you're like, hey man, remember the time that [SPEAKER_00]: We had a bunch, also no one intervenes in this, which is hilarious because he basically went, did most of your chapters just go to chaos? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it just happens all the time. [SPEAKER_00]: We're used to it by now. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like they have a full-blown civil war. [SPEAKER_01]: Angelos becomes chapter master. [SPEAKER_01]: They have a many civil war. [SPEAKER_01]: They purged the legion like it's fun three-style. [SPEAKER_01]: A bunch of blood-driven by the way are now with Huron Black Art. [SPEAKER_01]: Like that's where he got a red corsairs grabbed that a lot of blood-radins out of this. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, obviously the offseason acquisitions were pretty good pretty strong pretty strong recruiting recruiting pull that year a lot of five stars, but what I like about this by fair part about this is like So you have a chapter of space Marines whose former chapter master was an agent of chaos actually ascended to be a demon prince the Inquisition [SPEAKER_01]: fully knows about this. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because they're over there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they've watched it happen. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they've watched it happen. [SPEAKER_01]: And they were like But you guys killed a little bad ones. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, cool. [SPEAKER_01]: No pantant crusade. [SPEAKER_01]: No like permanent overseer from an order of malias. [SPEAKER_01]: Just Oh, you guys got this cool So my by thinking is this all happened and at a bunch of the inner circle of Dark Angels heard about this in my [SPEAKER_00]: I want the, come on, you know what I did super pissed about this. [SPEAKER_00]: Tightest who didn't do anything wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: You got put in the States this morning. [SPEAKER_01]: But just my place, the lion's gonna read about this at some point. [SPEAKER_01]: And be like, and just be mad. [SPEAKER_01]: It's be like, so maybe we should tell someone about Caliban because it turns out not really our fault. [SPEAKER_00]: And we don't need to wait. [SPEAKER_00]: So you guys are all good though? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're probably good. [SPEAKER_00]: They went, that's all I needed to hear. [SPEAKER_00]: See you later guys. [SPEAKER_00]: See you later guys. [SPEAKER_00]: It's good enough for me. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't believe that word, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so that was going to be the end of the Dawn of War series, but then 2017, if you want to know a lot more about this, check out our other show, the history of 40K, we talked about the eighth edition. [SPEAKER_01]: So 2017, Warhammer 40K is in a rough spot. [SPEAKER_01]: 7th edition is ruining the game for lack of better phrase. [SPEAKER_01]: Actually, there's no better phrase. [SPEAKER_01]: It was ruining the game. [SPEAKER_01]: GW goes all in on eighth edition, hardcore, long. [SPEAKER_01]: They throw everything they have at it, and they need to really boost it again. [SPEAKER_01]: And so they decide to go back to relic games, who I think at this point, also were owned by Sega and asked them, hey, we get a game. [SPEAKER_01]: And so they release a game with eighth edition. [SPEAKER_01]: Somebody didn't do for ninth edition. [SPEAKER_01]: Tenth edition, we got it with Space Marine 2 and 11th edition. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to do games. [SPEAKER_01]: So they've learned. [SPEAKER_01]: Do a game release and it boosts it. [SPEAKER_01]: But we get Donna War 3. [SPEAKER_01]: It's you can hear my voice. [SPEAKER_01]: Don't know where three in my opinion, just hear my opinion, great game play, exceptional graphics, wet noodle of a plot, which is why this next step we have to do here unfortunately is all about the plot. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't enjoy playing it. [SPEAKER_01]: I just didn't look the storyline. [SPEAKER_01]: If you didn't enjoy playing it, you're not wrong. [SPEAKER_01]: It was a fun game to play, but so let's get into it. [SPEAKER_01]: Dawn of War 3 revolves around this mysterious planet called Arcaron, Akaron, the planet basically appears in the material for short periods every 5,000 years and that disappears back into the warp. [SPEAKER_01]: And that makes it full of mysteries. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a D&D plot. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to call it what it is. [SPEAKER_01]: Every faction wants it. [SPEAKER_01]: The Eldar want it. [SPEAKER_01]: Chaos want it. [SPEAKER_01]: The Imperium wants it. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure there's random Zeno factions that with that want it because there's all this stuff there. [SPEAKER_01]: and an L.D.R. [SPEAKER_01]: All-Tark name, Kyrie, learns. [SPEAKER_00]: See, let me give you this part of this, because this is one of my favorite things of setup, because instead of saying that the far seers are guiding and saying what we should do, they just drop off and like, hey, man, this planet's gonna be here, do with this, what you want to Kyrie, because they give the all-Tarkly information, and then just kind of go, [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the thing was, is that with Kyrie, Kyrie's obsessed with this planet, because he knows his planet has the spear of Cain on it, and the Cain is the Eldar God of War, and it's an incredible weapon that could actually be used to, in fact, reclaim the galaxy, because Kyrie's a little bit of a whack job is the situation, so he's believed that he is the Storm Prince, which is the Eldar prophecy of the person destined to reunite the Eldar and save them. [SPEAKER_01]: He's also, by the way, kidnapped the Far Sear, Taldier, who was in the Dark Crusade campaign, I guess when she died, she went to her spirit stone and then he just stole that spirit stone. [SPEAKER_01]: And he keeps her around and makes her tell him things. [SPEAKER_01]: So he's weird, but there's another attachment of Eldar there who are not who are like with Kyrie, but also look at him. [SPEAKER_01]: Jeans are also in this game, which cool. [SPEAKER_01]: So they're watching him like, hey, you're a little bit nuts, but you are all Tark. [SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to follow for now, but we do have Jeans are here. [SPEAKER_01]: So we don't want to follow you. [SPEAKER_01]: We have her. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So just she will accidentally kill you in eight seconds, but yeah, just going. [SPEAKER_01]: But [SPEAKER_01]: as a stand-in-the-game, the imperian forces in this case, the inquisition for a holding pattern when this planet arrives, choosing to not get involved with this, because the problem is the planet comes in, and as this new planet comes in, it's right next to Cyprus Ultima, which is a night world, and the night world is instantly attacked by the orcs, because they just, it's orcs, and the [SPEAKER_01]: help. [SPEAKER_01]: And again, English is like, no, this, this is, this is the, this is a work planet here. [SPEAKER_01]: We're just going to kind of, we're going to build a nice little defect. [SPEAKER_01]: Everyone's standing aligned outside of this because whatever is happening here, it's about the lot worse. [SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, the blood ravens, you know, masters of planning and forethought and thinking through their decisions, go yolo swag, no, and run down to the plant to go save the night road. [SPEAKER_01]: Which they do? [SPEAKER_00]: You know what? [SPEAKER_00]: I have to let everybody know on this one because I made it a big point. [SPEAKER_00]: Because before we had this to basically say that in telling this, we should talk about how the blood ravers are known for this, and then you win out of you five minute straight diet tribe of it is never in the games, not even once. [SPEAKER_01]: And what you actually see in the verse, it's actually the inverse in every chance of the game where they could show that the blood ravens are like almost stoic and they're thinking [SPEAKER_01]: over and over and over again. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, it's no, so anyway, they go in there, they see at the night house, but in doing so, they leave the blockade exposed and they held our attack and are able to actually then break through the blockade. [SPEAKER_01]: And now, [SPEAKER_01]: acaron warps in and they can get access to acaron. [SPEAKER_01]: So now we're we have to go deal with this planet of nightmares. [SPEAKER_01]: All the factions go to acaron. [SPEAKER_01]: All for different reasons. [SPEAKER_01]: The Kyrie goes there because he wants the spear. [SPEAKER_01]: Gorguts is back. [SPEAKER_01]: He apparently also wants the spear. [SPEAKER_01]: No idea how. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, exactly or how he knows about it or what's going on or whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: the other LDAR go there because they don't trust Kyrie with the spear. [SPEAKER_01]: Imperial forces go there because that's where the LDAR and the orcs went. [SPEAKER_01]: They'll get there and then a spoiler alert. [SPEAKER_01]: There's no spear. [SPEAKER_01]: They're just a big trap. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's why it's so wildly. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a trap too. [SPEAKER_01]: Inside the planet is a giant bloodthirsty of corn like massive one two and the bloodthirsty was one of the more powerful bloodthirsty in the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: Eons ago and the Eldar Eons ago sealed it in this planet and made it to this planet with warp in and out of reality forever so that this bloodthirsty could never escape. [SPEAKER_01]: Good move Eldar. [SPEAKER_01]: Bad move Kyrie. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about this. [SPEAKER_00]: You have to be embarrassed right now for the Eldar because you just got outguiled by Coring. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, let's... [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to believe it wasn't. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to believe that it was alpha legion set this thing in motion because someone had it feeding information. [SPEAKER_00]: I was just saying, somebody's crafty a story about how the spirit of cane is right here and you should definitely pull the lever, but only if you're out there. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yes, they walked up the break that Eldar was someone at some point basically takes the locking mechanism. [SPEAKER_01]: It makes it look like a spear. [SPEAKER_01]: So they do that. [SPEAKER_01]: Kyrie gets there. [SPEAKER_01]: And the story in the game is kind of funny because Kyrie and Gorgots both get there at the same time. [SPEAKER_01]: And Kyrie grabs it and tries to stab Gorgots with the spear to claim it from self. [SPEAKER_01]: And as it does, it shatters a spear, which then shatters a seal, which then freeze the blood therster. [SPEAKER_01]: And the entire planet is now demons. [SPEAKER_01]: Just lots and lots and lots of demons and so now we get something that's very end of seventh edition early eighth edition. [SPEAKER_01]: So allies. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: So in the Lord's Fine additional table top could God this sucked. [SPEAKER_01]: So the orcs, the Eldar and the Space Marines are counter-attacked by corn, just non-stop corn and [SPEAKER_01]: So far, Sierra Maca convinces Angelo that the only way to save anybody here is going to take is for him to take his battle barge and ram it into the fisher that's running through the entire planet, splitting the planet in half, which is because the planet itself is feeding this blood therster. [SPEAKER_01]: And Angelo does that. [SPEAKER_01]: And he actually, it's the whole city. [SPEAKER_01]: He flies the ship in and just as it's crashing in, the far Sierra teleports him to safety. [SPEAKER_01]: Here's the fun thing about that though. [SPEAKER_01]: Just run, run, run, run, no. [SPEAKER_01]: You can't fly a battle barge solo. [SPEAKER_01]: So I might, in my mind, Angela's up there like he's piloting it. [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, this isn't a dinghy man. [SPEAKER_01]: There's like probably a few thousand other crew doing it. [SPEAKER_01]: And as it crashes in, one person is teleported away in the rest of them or just like, I'm asking for you. [SPEAKER_00]: You ever, all the named characters of Star Trek can tell a point of the way. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's just a sea of red shirts. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they are blood raven, so they probably were wearing red shirts. [SPEAKER_01]: So they all die. [SPEAKER_01]: So, and then the next bit, [SPEAKER_01]: The cinematics are cool, but God allies was brutal in the game. [SPEAKER_01]: The Orcs, Eldar, and Space Marines now come together to fight the weakened demon forces, and they use an imperial knight, a race knight, and a sudo, and the sudo, and the sudo looks awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: It looks awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: The knight looked awesome too, and they defeat the demon, and everyone goes their separate ways. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the end of the Don of War Games for now. [SPEAKER_01]: I hated that ending. [SPEAKER_01]: I also didn't like that Captain Angela's luckily a cartoon. [SPEAKER_01]: He was kind of running. [SPEAKER_01]: That's like aura around him. [SPEAKER_01]: That's just, sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: I did not like this game. [SPEAKER_01]: But the lowest fine, that's your story. [SPEAKER_01]: We now are going to get a fourth Don of War because [SPEAKER_01]: if people like something, GW will keep giving it to us, unlike, you know, the white scars. [SPEAKER_01]: So just said, look, if you liked it, they give us more. [SPEAKER_01]: That's all? [SPEAKER_01]: All right, but 41st millennia, the events of Dawn of War three, they happen, Angela, as they would rebuild. [SPEAKER_01]: The problem is that they've taken exceptional losses, [SPEAKER_01]: And once again, they go back to rebuilt. [SPEAKER_01]: And as I thought to rebuild their chapter, the rift opens, Cadia falls, the rift opens, and the astronaut got to go start. [SPEAKER_01]: And their timing is magical on this, by the way, it's because this only happens to the blood ravens. [SPEAKER_01]: They've got like a ton of ships with aspirants who are all in the warp, who just when this happens go, and we're lost in the world dead. [SPEAKER_01]: So they lose like, [SPEAKER_01]: thousands, I guess, of potential aspirants. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a look. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a white dwarf. [SPEAKER_01]: So come, it this happened kind of quick. [SPEAKER_01]: It's the same time. [SPEAKER_01]: The entire sector goes to crap again. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got mutants. [SPEAKER_01]: You've got heretics, the librarians are getting visions of full care again. [SPEAKER_01]: The whole, the demons are now there because again, the rift is open. [SPEAKER_00]: Now say the rift so much easier for demonic immersion. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So now the blood ravens are thrown back into action and they are really barely hanging on. [SPEAKER_01]: There is nothing they're looking for anything they can hold onto something they can grab and they reach out and they find the golden banana that is the custodes. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if you're looking for some dudes, they could do some heavy lifting, having a barge of custos is pretty cool. [SPEAKER_01]: It does help. [SPEAKER_01]: And they come in with the, it's really, they don't actually bring primaris marines with them. [SPEAKER_01]: There's about primaris gencies. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, hey, it's a figure it out. [SPEAKER_01]: Here you go guys, jam this and some people, and they went, okay, I did help because the blood ravens have lost a ton of gene seed because all the losses they took were like we talked about before like if you're space marine dyes and there's no a pathocary who can just collect the gene seed and run away with it, it's just lost and then you have to grow it really slowly. [SPEAKER_01]: So if someone shows up with, yeah, I got like, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: enough to make 10,000 of them. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that would be codex compliant. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, an ultramarine fan. [SPEAKER_01]: I got enough here for 1,000 of them. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, 1,000 in air quotes. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a thousand, these guys aren't, they're not ultramarines. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't get to break the codex. [SPEAKER_01]: It's very rules here. [SPEAKER_01]: And so they're able to actually start rebuilding the chapter. [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't think they also discover by the way, Gilman's alive. [SPEAKER_01]: Those are two things they do. [SPEAKER_01]: They go, here's Gene's seed to make primaries Marines, part one, and then part two, by the way, Gilman's alive again. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, good. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, here's a new merit badge. [SPEAKER_00]: You're part of the endowment, as Crusade. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll see you guys next week. [SPEAKER_01]: But that's it. [SPEAKER_01]: That gets us to kind of modern 40K blood ravens. [SPEAKER_01]: But what I thought we do now to close this out before we get to kind of the next bit is talk a little bit about the blood ravens and where they might come from. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of theories on them. [SPEAKER_01]: Some of them are stupid. [SPEAKER_01]: But uh... Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha- [SPEAKER_00]: It's a that's the there's a theory on thousand sons as a reference there I just if there's a bunch of other cooler ones, but when you just have an entire their yeah ton of like let's jump into this lecture, but it is pretty [SPEAKER_01]: I would say that clear, but I think most of us believe the blood ravens come from a fallen chapter. [SPEAKER_01]: Either one of the true chape trainer chapters, or I think they're from one of the two lost chapters. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what I think they are. [SPEAKER_01]: I think they're from one of the two with that. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's cooler, but I still think that they're probably for me. [SPEAKER_00]: I have the 1000 sun for it all and I just think they're a thought it makes more sense the way that they're psychers. [SPEAKER_00]: They're so heavily psychers. [SPEAKER_00]: They're very gifted. [SPEAKER_00]: They also it just feels like it makes more sense if you didn't. [SPEAKER_00]: If 1000 suns weren't corrupted with magnets, this makes sense to what they were. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the only reason why I disagree with you on that one is the corruption piece because all thousand sons became corrupted when Magnus gave himself over to Zeech. [SPEAKER_01]: So them avoiding the corruption throws me off. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why I think they're one of the lost legions. [SPEAKER_01]: And to be honest, I think the same reason I think the car carried on as well. [SPEAKER_01]: I think the car, I think what I think and I would love [SPEAKER_01]: By the way, I'm making this up, guys, and I can be totally wrong. [SPEAKER_01]: I want GW to do this. [SPEAKER_01]: I want GW to come out and say, car caradons, menotars, some of these ones, they actually have their origins in one of the lost legions, because it opens up so much we can do, and it allows these legions to exist without any kind of association with a primarque. [SPEAKER_01]: So they can actually be a lot more stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's my theories, guys, is that I think they're from one of the lost legions, and that one of the lost legions, why it became a lost legion, is there were two psychically powerful, and the emperor went, now I'm stuffing him out. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, nope. [SPEAKER_01]: But you also couldn't bring them into mild them into the ultramarines, because we also know that the most of the lost legions were folded into the ultramarines, and actually the imperial fist is a little bit. [SPEAKER_01]: a little bit hard with those guys didn't love psychos and you're like, oh yeah, every time we put one of their genes and someone they become something you don't want to. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, to the people, I love fan creations and stuff like that and researching we're going to do today. [SPEAKER_00]: I have a couple of the pictures and whatnot that I love. [SPEAKER_00]: They have the want the lost primarck wanted blood ravens. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, our primarck. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, people that create a little fantastic. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there's a great. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the boat is great. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so that's just a little bit of John and Brad theory. [SPEAKER_01]: If you guys have your own jump into the discord, let us know. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll debate it. [SPEAKER_01]: I again, I'm not firm on my thought process here. [SPEAKER_01]: If you can be better evidence or a better argument, I'll change my mind about that firm. [SPEAKER_01]: But next week, we're going to do something wild. [SPEAKER_01]: Originally, you were going to do one thing very excited about this. [SPEAKER_01]: And then a UPS found my package, stupid snowstorm, 500 worlds got delivered yesterday. [SPEAKER_01]: So I started reading it and we're going to do a cast on the 500 worlds because it's awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But, man, I don't need fun. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So next week, to be fair, you give me an opportunity, more ultramarine lore. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do more ultramarine lore. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm kidding, seriously. [SPEAKER_01]: And for those of you who are getting sick of the space from the coverage, we will do Zino afterwards. [SPEAKER_01]: But real quick, we are coming to the 500 worlds. [SPEAKER_01]: It's coming up, it's coming hot and heavy. [SPEAKER_01]: 90% that crap sold out again. [SPEAKER_01]: And so, unlike Black Library, I'm happy to spoil the crap out of these books for you all. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Because people like reading Black Library, this stuff, it's a pan-flip and three other, I'm looking at it right now, it's a pan-flip and three other things. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, till then, John Barzati, Brad Chester. [SPEAKER_01]: This guy. [SPEAKER_01]: See you guys next week. [UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
