In today's story, Kelly tells us about experiences while living in a house,
witnessing directly in front of her things that could not be happening without a supernatural
explanation. She was not the only one who experienced the events you're about to
hear. After this, you'll have another idea about those childhood memories of being
afraid of what hides inside of the closet at night. My name is Edvan,
and here is kelly true scary story. This happened ten or eleven years
ago in Germantown, Maryland. I lived there for about fifteen years before I
moved in. These very close, tight knit town homes that were or two
story. When you first walk in, behind the front door, there is
a shoe slash coat closet. That door never locks, always opened a jar.
When you look straight ahead, there's also a bathroom, and that bathroom
has a metal closet door. Throw the doors that fold, and they're very
very loud once they open and close. That's also very important. On the
second story part of the house, it's a very long, dark, narrow
hallway. To your right, you have two bedrooms. One was mine and
my sisters. The other was my brother. At the end of the hallway
was another one of those metal folding door closets. To the left of that
was the bathroom, and then the laundry room was right next to it.
On the top floor was my parents' room slash my room when I was a
kid. It is a huge, huge room that even has a wall splitting
the middle. What was originally supposed to be the office space was my room
that my mom made when I was born, and my parents shared the other
side of the room. In that wall, there was a large cutout where
people could walk through, but it was only covered by a curtain. In
that room, there was also a bathroom that also had one of those metal
closing doors. They were everywhere. There was a walking closet right next to
the stairs up in that office space. In that same room with my parents,
I slept right next to a regular closet. Every single night. It
was very silent in the room, and I would hear in my ear maybe
a few times at night. It started off maybe two times here and there,
and then it started to get louder and it started to feel more aggressive.
It just started from to very very loud, and it would alternate from
the right side of my ear where the closet was, and then to the
left side. It was almost as if someone was kind of walking around my
bed making that noise. From that part of the room. I could actually
see into that walk in closet that was next to the stairs. That closet
never closed. If you look up at the ceiling, the attic door is
right off top of you'd have to pull it down like a ladder to get
up to the attic. I would always tell my parents in the middle of
that night, Mom, I'm hearing this likess. She would always tell me,
it's nothing, it's nothing, don't worry about it. You're probably just
like half asleep. My dad has never been a believer of the paranormal.
It doesn't even bother him. My mom is very religious. She believes that
Satan will bother the children to rile things up in the home. She didn't
tell me at the time. She knew kind of something was going on from
what I was told from my brother before I was even born. He would
say that things and the house would move around. There was a time he
was asleep and the dower to his nightstand was yanked open right by his head.
He remembers yelling from my mom and she ran down the stairs to his
room. She said that she saw something, a very small person walking out
of his room and going into that closet that is near his door, that
metal door closet. She had only told my dad, but of course my
father never believed her. Once I was born, my brother said that it
got worse because there was somebody younger there that it could manipulate. From there,
a lot of the activities started in my father's room. It started with
knocks on the walls. Since we lived in the townhouse and some of the
houses were kind of close together, my mom would always chop it up to
be, oh, maybe it's the neighbors hitting their walls or doing construction or
something all the other houses that we would hear on our walls. It started
on the walls, and then it started sounding like it was coming from the
top of our headboards. It would happen to me and it would happen to
my brother who was on the second floor, so two completely different rooms,
we're both hearing the same thing. That is when it went from that to
doors starting to close on their own downstairs, in that shoe closet that never
has a lock. It was almost like someone was pulling from the inside of
the closet to try and shut the door. Me and my brother would see
that happen all the time, and we would freak out, start crying and
screaming, and leave the house for a few hours, come back when our
parents came home, because we were too afraid to be in there. Where
that sofa was in the living room, it is facing directly towards that closet.
There was a time my brother was on the recliner right next to me
that was right next to the couch. We heard like a door trying to
close. We didn't really think much of it. I was a kid,
so I just looked up. Honestly, felt like my heart dropped completely because
the doorknob is literally shaking, closing itself as it's closing. My brother he
just freezes, and I'm looking at it. It just keeps jiggling, as
if you're trying to close the door and there's something in the way and you're
jiggling it to close it. That is, when it shut on its own.
Of course, there's no lock. It just opened up again. But
when it opened up again, it slammed and hit the front door right behind
it. My brother an adrenaline rushed hit and he slammed the door closed,
opened the front door, and we both ran out of there. We ended
up just walking around the neighborhood at the time. He didn't have a phone.
We just waited until our normal time when our mom came home. We
did not want to be there by ourselves. I ended up being so afraid
of sleeping in that bedroom upstairs with my mom and my dad, that I
wanted to sleep with my sister in the bedroom downstairs, which was right next
to my brother's room. Me and her share to bed at night. I
would still hear the She could never hear it. It would wake me up
in the middle of the night, and I would tell her and I'd just
say, like, I can't sleep, it's not letting me sleep. Something
just keeps doing this tisk sound in my ear. My sister she really liked
scary movies, but she never believed in them. She never thought that stuff
would happen in real life. Of course, she would tell me the same
thing. My mom would say, you know you're sleeping or you're dreaming.
Once it started to move things, that is when the whispering started. The
house was always silent. I grew up in a negative home. There were
a lot of things happening at the same time. Parents are going through pretty
um see divorce, and my siblings were kind of dabbling things they weren't really
supposed to be dabbling into, and just a lot of negative energy in general.
I was left at home alone a lot, which is why I think
it was a lot easier for whatever it was to attack me and do these
things, because who would believe me if I was home by myself. That
is when I started hearing whispers. They would always come from the second story
of the house. If I was in the living room and it was quiet,
I would just hear people talking upstairs. No one's here, who is
supposed to be talking upstairs? I would rationalize and think, like, okay,
maybe the neighbors are talking. Even then, it's only coming from the
second story that I would hear one of the room doors upstairs close. It
was never a gentle kind of closing. It was more of a slamming,
like if you were arguing with somebody had slammed the door. The first time
that happened, I heard it from the bathroom there's event at the top of
the bathroom. I would just hear it sounded like two men talking. I
could never make out what they were saying, but I knew they were talking
to each other, and it would start by them just talking. It sounded
very angry. I did not recognize those voices at all. They didn't sound
like my father. They didn't sound like my brother either. We didn't have
any men living on either side of our townhouse. There was a single mom
with her son on one side, and then there was just an older woman
on the other side. There could have been no way I started hearing the
whispering. And that is when my brother told my mom that he was hearing
people talking in my room that I shared with my sister, and it sounded
like two men talking. My mom would just say, well, maybe it's
what the girls are watching on TV. And he goes, no, Mom,
you don't understand. They're speaking and they're slamming doors and I'm trying to
tell you that there's something in this house. She would just try to play
it off. They hear people say if you don't acknowledge it, it won't
get worse. The thing is, is I acknowledged it a lot as a
kid, so of course it scared me so much as a child that I
felt like I had to tell my mom and my sister and my brother.
It stopped for a little bit less than a year. It stopped once my
parents started getting into a rump of their divorce and things were getting a lot
more worse in the house. That is when they started back up again.
This time, I was actually starting to see things inside of the house.
I would go in my dad's bedroom and just be on his laptop on his
bed, and his bed is facing towards that cut up part of the office
where I told you there was just a curtain. The first time I saw
it was I was on his laptop. I heard freaking from the office.
I look up, and there's a shadow just walking by the curtain. When
it walks by the curtain, it has to walk through the hallway to get
out. It never made it to the other side. It just looked like
it walked by the curtain and just hid behind the wall. I was so
terrified. I could not scream, I couldn't move. I just stared towards
the curtain and hoped that it would go away. I somehow got up I
ran down the steps. My dad was downstairs and I told him I saw
someone from the other side of the curtain. It was in such a panic.
He had me go outside with my sister, who was in the front
yard. He stormed up the stairs and thought maybe somebody had broken in.
Nobody was upstairs. Kitchen area where you are at the sofa, you can
see into the kitchen. From the corner of my eye, I could always
see a tall black figure hiding behind where the refrigerator is. When I would
look at it, it looked like it would peek its head right back behind
the refrigerator, so I wouldn't be able to see it. At night,
in my sister's room, I could see a tall figure walking around my sister's
bed. I would tell her about it. She never saw anything. It
looked like a black mass, darker than dark. It would just simply walk
around the bed multiple times in a circle. Then it would stand right in
the middle. When I look down on my bed, so I wouldn't see
it anymore. I would look up and it was gone, gone, gone.
Our doors to the house were kind of high off the ground, so
you can see when somebody's footsteps are under the door. When I would be
home alone and in my sister's room, there would be a shadow's feet under
the door, and at first I thought it was my father, and I
was like, Dad, what are you doing, Bobby, what are you
doing? It would just stand there until I realized it wasn't my dad,
and it would just kind of go away, as if it stepped back and
then moved on to the next room. If I had a book open on
the dinner table, sometimes it would slowly shift to the end of the table
and just drop. We had no air vents or anything around that, so
there's no way any wind could have possibly, you know, blown a heavy
book off where they're watching it. It's not like I'm in a different room
and I heard the book fall. We are seeing this slowly inch it moved,
and it would stop for a few seconds. Then it would inch a
little more, stop and keep going until one part of the book was hanging
off and it'd be too heavy and it would fall completely, almost as if
someone was taunting taunting it, taunting it. I was in that little island
area that I told you about where you can see the dinner table directly right
in front of you. I was in there with my brother. He had
just gone upstairs to grab something. I don't remember what it was. I
remember I had one of those like Disney Princess coloring books. I had it
open on the table and looking at it. You know when hard plastic sometimes
sticks to something that's a little warm and it makes like a little unsticking sound.
I heard that. I just thought, okay, maybe that's a little
weird. Something in my head just told me to look at the table.
I am just seeing this book being shifted to the side. It's just the
shuffling a little bit, and then it stops. I am just paralyzed.
I don't know what to think if there's no sort of breeze going on.
The door's not open, and it is just slowly inching itself off. Right
before it had fallen, I screamed from my brother, and he ran down
the steps. As he was running down the stairs, in the book completely
fell on the ground. When I told him that these things were happening,
he took them very seriously. He used to talk to my mom about it.
My mom grew more scared for my safety. The last draw that we
had before my brother called his medium friend over. I was in my dad's
room and I just went up there to grab his laptop charger. There was
a man sitting on my bed. He was looking directly at me. I
thought that somebody had broken in the house, but I could see everything except
for his feet. His feet were shadowy and black, and in my head
I kind of compared it to those are the feet that I've been seeing under
my door. I ran down the steps and I told my brother that there
was a man upstairs. I had a huge panic attack my dad when he
came home a few hours later. My mom had told him what had happened.
My dad just kind of chalked it up to me and my brother just
kind of playing jokes and just scaring ourselves. But no, I remember seeing
him very very very clearly. He was sitting up very straight, very proper.
He had very thin eyebrows. He was very white, super pale,
and had very very short, military buzzed hair, very thin lips. His
face was very skinny. He was wearing a checkerboard kind of style shirt,
if that makes sense, Like the pattern kind of looked like that in black
pants. That is when my brother said, I have this friend that I
know she's very sensitive to this kind of stuff. He's gonna bring her over
the house to see if she can figure anything out and see if she can
find whatever it is and take it out of the house. Bringing a medium
into the home to help with the situation turns out to have unexpected consequences,
with a new entity deciding to stay with the family. The rest of her
story continues right after this stay wait us. He brings his friend over.
I immediately do not get a good feeling about her at all. She was
very quiet, stand offish. Her eyes were always very wide, and I
don't know why my brother didn't realize that that was a little concerning at first,
but it just looked like she had the permanent look of constantly being afraid.
She came in the house, shook my hand, and she started walking
around the kitchen. She goes up the steps. As she goes up the
second stair of steps to get to the second floor of the home, I
just hear her say no, no, over and over and over again.
My brother just has what's the matter with you? Why do you keep saying
no? She goes there is something on this floor. It is in that
closet at the end of the hallway. My brother thought at first she was
joking, but then she started to cry. We realized that this was a
lot more serious than we thought it would be. My brother said, my
baby sister is saying that there's somebody upstairs. She goes up the steps,
looks on my dad's bed. She just says, there is somebody sitting on
your father's bed right now, and it is a man. She's describing exactly
what I just told you, and that that man has a very big frown
on his face. It looks like there's blood coming out the top of his
head. She just said, you need to figure out a way to kind
of get your baby sister out of this house. Whatever it is does not
want her in here, that is all she said. She gave my brother
some of those herbs for the house. My mother being really religious, she
did not want that being burned in the home. She didn't believe in herbs
being burned and cleansing the area. That is not what she believed in.
They walked out of the house. She says, she's not going to talk
about every single thing until they were far away from the house. I went
with them, but my brother gave me his headset and had me sit somewhere.
She just told him there is a man and his son in that home.
They do not want your baby sister there. They're scaring her on purpose.
They're mainly attracted to her because she is feeling the most effects of all
the negative things that are happening in the home with the divorce. My brother
told my mom that she was not happy at all that that woman even came
in the house. She took that advice and kind of I think that kind
of pushed her towards more to kind of getting out of that situation. We
would still see those apparitions walking around at night. We eventually got a cat.
We had bunk beds. At one point I was sitting at the top
bunk and the cat was sitting at the bottom bunk, and he started staring
at the wall in front of him. We're trying to get his attention with
like Flynn, Flynn, like look over here or whatever. He puts his
ears back and we're looking at him. Someone is petting the top of his
head. We are seeing his fur move back at the top of his head.
You know when to do that really really loud screeching noise. That is
the loudest noise he ever made. He ran out of the room. He
hid under the couch. It took us forever to get him out. From
then on, getting him to sleep in our room was a struggle. He
never went back in there, even if we tried to hold him close while
we went in there, because I was afraid I didn't want to be alone.
He would never go in there. My brother had half of an empty
laundry basket in his room. We heard really, really loud screeching and meowing.
Honestly, sounded like someone was trying to kill the cat. We read
up the steps and there was a literal pile of clothes on top of the
cat in the laundry basket. It's Paul was sticking through one of the holes.
How did the clothes even get on top of him? We were yelling
at my brother, thinking like, hey, did he jump in there and
you put clothes and didn't even realize it? He goes no, I left
it half empty. I thought he came downstairs with me. Whatever that was
the man or his son put clothes on top of the cat. We were
ninety five percent sure that he tried to kill him. A few weeks after
the medium came to our home. I went up the stairs to my father's
room. I looked in that walking closet as I was walking down the steps,
because you can't walk down the stairs without passing by the walking closet where
the attic is in the ceiling. I'm seeing, as clear as day,
on top of one of those really big storage boxes with the lid on them,
there is a little girl sitting on it. She didn't look demonic.
She was in some older clothing, some kind of nineteen fifties clothing. It
looked very dirty. Sometimes she would look happy, sometimes she'd looked like she
had just finished crying. I would see her every single time I walked past.
It got to a point where I just said hi to her, but
I never looked at her. I was too afraid to look at her at
some point, so I'd just say hi and then run down the stairs and
hope that she wasn't behind me. She never moved. She was always in
that same spot that I didn't feel malicious. I would tell my mom,
there's this little girl upstairs in the closet. I see her ever time I
go up there to grab something. That is when my mom really started to
say this is too far. So she had me get baptized that same year.
She brought the pastor over to talk to me. I never explained anything
paranormal, but I'm pretty sure my mom did. She just gave him kind
of a rundown, and he just said, what is this little girl that
you're seeing? And I just said, well, she's a girl. She's
upstairs in my dad's room, in the walking closet. She's never hurt me,
she never comes out of that closet. He just says, you need
to tell that little girl to go away, that you have Jesus by your
side and he's going to protect you. Do I really have to She's not
bothering me. Can she just stay there? I wasn't really afraid of her.
I was more so afraid of those two other male spirits that were actively
trying to attack me. We had that glass door that was in front of
our regular door. We had these red curtains covering them. Somebody knocked very
aggressively on the glass door to the house. It sounded like somebody was angry
and they were pounding. My brother went. He opened just the current a
little bit just to see who it was. My brother had the worst panic
attack I had ever seen him have. He crumbled to the ground and was
gripping the carpet as tight as he could with his fingers and was just continue
He was sleep screaming until he ran out of air. He would take a
big gulpe of arrogant and just scream again, why are you screaming? What's
going on? He just said, there is a man with blood on his
face, literally outside the glass door. Nobody was there. He only saw
the man's face, and that the man was extremely bloody all over his face.
He could not see his shoulders or the rest of his body, just
the face only. There is no way anybody could have ran that fast away
from the glass door. He had such a horrible panic attack. We had
to call my mom. She worked right across the street. She had to
come home early to console him. He was just unconsolable. There was no
way we could calm him down. A few days later we went on vacation.
My dad said that there's nothing going on in the house. You guys
are gone and nothing is happening. When that divorce was finalized, I went
to go live in an apartment with my mom and my sister. My dad
and my brother stayed in that house until my brother moved out with one of
his friends. I slept in the same bed as my father. My dad
had his back towards the walk in closet. I was kind of cuddled up.
I was facing his chest. All I hear is I opened my eyes.
That little girl is standing behind my father. She is just looking at
me. She's not making a face, she's not snarling at me, she's
not doing anything. She's just looking at me. That sent me into a
huge panic attack. I felt as if somebody was sitting on my chest.
I was screaming. My dad wakes up and he is panic. That just
told him there was a little girl that was just right behind him, and
she just said, hey, appear to me. He just said, there's
nobody here. There's nobody Here's kind of yelling at me because he's kind of
paniced that I just said I just saw somebody. But he's also panicking because
his daughter's freaking out. It was a complete mess. My mom had to
end up picking me up and I actually got evaluated the next day. It
took me to a hospital that I swear she was behind my father. I
felt like I was dying. Almost when you have such a severe panic attack,
you feel like everything's kind of shutting down. It was not only our
family that was seen things in the home. I had these two friends,
Sally and Lily. There's this two siblings that I was friends with, and
they would always come over the house to be on this brand new tablet that
I got. I left the charger upstairs in my room, and I told
Salia, hey, can you go up the stairs and get the charger it's
in It's in my bedroom. She goes, yeah, that's fine. She
goes up the first flight of stairs, turns around to go up the second
stairs. She screams, runs down the steps, grabs her little sister,
and leaves the house. She doesn't stop running until she reaches her house.
My sister, who was in the bathroom at the time, ran out and
asked her, you know what was wrong? Why did you scream? What
was that? She just says, there's a man at the top of the
stairs. He was looking at me, and he was blocked where your room
door is. She never came back in the house after that. That was
at one un done situation. She never showed up again. She never spoke
to me again. She had a friend that lived like maybe a house down
from me. Sometimes I would see her get on the grass to avoid my
house to get to her friend's house. We went to high school together after
that, and she completely ignored me. She would never look my way nothing.
She was just so afraid of what she saw. We're both in our
twenties that whenever I go visit here and there, she'll see me and she'll
never say a thing to me. I just really think that whatever she saw
really had to been that horrifying. We had a neighbor that we were friends
with. I was friends with her son. One day, she came up
to my mom while my mom was in the front yard. I think they
were grilling. She came out and she said, Hey, by any chance,
when your girls are not home, do you guys have somebody else in
the house, cousins staying over and niece, her nephew. My mom goes,
it's just our two girls and my son, no one else in the
house. Why would you ask that? She just said the other day when
I walked by, I looked up at your guys's bedroom window. There was
a little girl peeking behind the curtain. She looked at me, and I
thought, you know, that's weird. Only two girls that live in that
house, Why is there a third one? My parents confirmed, no,
we don't have anybody else living in our house except for the two girls.
Her son was never allowed to go over my house again. That was it.
She just said, yeah, I don't think he'll be coming over anytime
soon. He never did. Our house was being demolished from the inside out.
Our water heater stopped working. We had to shower in cold water all
the time. The floors are being ripped up. The house smelled horrible all
the time. There was just a lot of negative energy surrounding the house and
inside of the home. I walked in and in that area where the TV
was there was no more TV. I was just sitting there doing homework.
I had my back towards the wall. All of a sudden, from the
third floor in my father's room, I'm hearing heavy boots running down the stairs.
I mean like full sprinting. It was heavy. All I heard was
this dum dum dum dum dum dundun dun coming down the stairs. I heard
my father's room door open. The lights in the kitchen start to flicker.
The metal door in the bathroom that's fold the ball starts slamming itself into the
wall. I screamed, I grabbed my phone, and I ran out of
the house. I didn't even lock the door out of fear that maybe if
I turned around and locked the door, something would be looking at me from
the inside. I ran across the street to my mom's job. I asked
the owner where my mom was, and they were just confused because there's this
little seventh grader just crying, asking for their mother. And I went in
her job and I just told her what happened is She said, you are
never going back in that house again. She ended up calling my father.
My father came home. The doors in the house were open. My dad
was very strict on having all of the doors closed in the home. He
always wanted the doors closed, every single one of them, including the bathroom
door downstairs that was banging into itself. Not only did it have a dent
at the bottom where it was hitting the metal plate, but it was just
wide open and it was extremely hot. It should not have been hot,
considering our water heater was not working. That is the last time I was
ever allowed in the house. I have never been there since then, the
house completely got remodeled. But before that, my dad was very keen on
not selling it. The thing that kind of made him change his mind,
he was in that walking closet and he was trying to take things out of
the attic. When he was on the ladder grabbing boxes that were kind of
close to the attic door, he felt someone poked his ankle. He looked
down and he swears to me. And my dad is not a religious man,
he's not into the paranormal. He doesn't believe in this kind of stuff.
But he swears to me up and down that there was a little girl's
hand that was grasping his pant leg. He ran down that ladder or climbed
down, didn't even look behind him. He only packed a few things,
grabbed everything, locked up. The house. Didn't go back for a week.
He told the bank, just just take the house. I don't want
any more. Take it off my hands. That house was sold for about
a year. After a year, the owners put it up for sale again.
I tried looking up why that was never disclosed on any websites or anything.
From what I have researched about where I'm from, Germantown. It used
to be just a bunch of farms. My thought was maybe where a house
was built on used to be owned by a man and his son, and
they were just angry that we were there. I never saw that little girl
again. I would like to say from then on, I've been kind of
sensitive towards those things. You know, if I'm in an area, it
almost makes me feel kind of sickly when something is about to happen. I
have a friend's house that has some activity going on in there. I try
my best not to go in there if I'm not needed. There has been
a few times where I will see a shadow walk by in her kitchen.
We've seen it in her room. We'll see a black mask sitting on her
couch and an it'll go away within a few seconds. Living in that house
was genuinely traumatizing. I have never played with the Wuiji board in my life.
That was forbidden in my home. I never played with the pendulum.
I don't do tarot cards, none of that stuff. For my safety,
I don't want any of that stuff to happen again since then. Thankfully,
in my own home right now, I don't feel uncomfortable. I don't feel
unsafe like I did in my childhood home. Whenever I do visit and I
have to drive by my neighborhood, I don't even look at the house anymore.
I was tempted to reach back to the medium and ask if she remembers
anything. I one hundred percent believe that she was the one that brought that
little girl's spirit to the house. She was never there until the medium visited
that home. I wanted to reach out to the current owners of the house
and ask if anything could be happening, if they have heard any stories or
anything. But at the same time, don't want to accidentally attach that energy
