Speaker 1: Guys are like, hey, you know, or organizations are like, ah, this is easy.

00:00:04
Speaker 2: We don't have to develop We're not good at developing them. We'll pick them, throw them up there.

00:00:11
Speaker 3: It's the Atlanta Takeover foul Territory, Live in atl in the battery at Drew's Community Corner. Scotty Brown, A J. Berzinski, Aer Kratz and Top Father over at the end. Happy anniversary to you, by the way.

00:00:22
Speaker 4: Thank you man.

00:00:23
Speaker 5: Ten years.

00:00:24
Speaker 6: Yeah, ten years seems like a long time ago that had happened, but a lot of good memories and posted a video yesterday brought.

00:00:32
Speaker 4: Back a lot of good stuff.

00:00:33
Speaker 3: Yeah, and now you'll call the Derby tonight even more exciting as a veteran, as I guess as a veteran.

00:00:39
Speaker 2: It's a lot.

00:00:41
Speaker 6: I mean, the list here, eight guys, seven brand new home run Derby contestants for the first time, a lot of young guys that are gonna put their name on the map here and hopefully it's a great show.

00:00:51
Speaker 5: And I think it will be who's the returning guy of the one?

00:00:54
Speaker 4: It would be Olsen?

00:00:55
Speaker 3: Oh right, Olson's done. Yeah, and he was a late ad he would have been later.

00:01:02
Speaker 4: Either.

00:01:02
Speaker 6: We struggled in the one he had, but you never know one of those things where it's like, just put me in and all of a sudden he takes off. Lefties are going to bode well this week or today.

00:01:10
Speaker 3: Excuse and he's got home juice too exactly, which doesn't hurt sometimes a hometown guy, you know, well.

00:01:16
Speaker 2: He did the hometown.

00:01:17
Speaker 1: Yep, he's home hometown though he's Georgia and he plays yes, plays.

00:01:22
Speaker 5: Right, Atlanta, double hometown. That's very true.

00:01:24
Speaker 3: All right, So right off the jump here we do have something to cover, Like there is controversy heading into the All Star Game in terms of who's there and who's not there. So let's charge the mound. It's Hot Corner powered by Next Playground. We'll talk about the game coming up in a little bit. Podfather played some Derby, so did Krats and AJ. But let's get into the All Star Game. When you first heard that five starts into his big league career, the Maze got the call to atl you were probably so excited and said, yup, deserves it.

00:02:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's not exactly what I did.

00:02:05
Speaker 7: I did exactly what the Phillies said, like, no, I'm sorry, I love the kid, but five Stars. No, and this is this is one hundred percent of league decision because they got to pick whoever they wanted the one like he was voted on by the players because when the players vote happened, he hadn't even been probably pitching the big leagues yet, or he maybe had one or two so.

00:02:23
Speaker 1: One didn't get in and he was the envy.

00:02:25
Speaker 2: He was the player of the month for June.

00:02:27
Speaker 1: They voted before that.

00:02:29
Speaker 3: They vote late June. I think they vote in like the Jukes.

00:02:33
Speaker 1: Has less appearances on the mound than I do in the big League.

00:02:37
Speaker 5: How many appearances you got, I don't know.

00:02:40
Speaker 2: I know it's more than five.

00:02:43
Speaker 3: So a lot of players are probably pissed about this, besides just the Phillies guys who were vocal because they want there.

00:02:48
Speaker 2: But people know, but people have bonuses attached to this.

00:02:51
Speaker 7: Yeah, right, So whether one Soto makes makes seven hundred million, he still gets a big bonus for being elected an All Stars. So for Misslerowski to get this, it's like, Okay, Christopher Sanchez is the obvious choice, but there's other people that have obvious choices, and there's a lot of people that you know obviously aren't coming this year, which is also disappointing, but the ones that like, you can find someone to come that has been there all year and done a lot of good things. And the fact that Christopher Sanchez is in here in Misrowski is Philly summed it up perfectly when they said as a.

00:03:20
Speaker 2: Joke, they did.

00:03:22
Speaker 1: There is a breakdown of how Okay, Christopher Sanchez could have gotten in but not. The rules are you can't invite somebody, you can't replace somebody.

00:03:37
Speaker 3: Here's the thing, because this is important for the pitching side of things, because this is a pitcher who's replacing other pictures and Misrawski, the Phillies are pissed because they have multiple guys that they think should.

00:03:47
Speaker 5: Have gotten in.

00:03:47
Speaker 3: First off, just to clear the board here, Ranger Suarez was asked he had plenty of arrest he declined, So, yes, we're good. There for Christopher Sanchez, he pitched this weekend on Saturday, Saturday. So the call is, hey, you can be a replacement, but you have to pitch an inning. You have to be available for an inning. And he said, I'm not going to be So then they go, okay, we're moving on. We have to ask someone else. Yeah, and then the Phillies players were saying, hey, he should still be designated an All Star because he got the ask. But they're like, he got the ask and not the acceptance, so he's not an All Star. Then he doesn't get the bonus the Phillies gave.

00:04:19
Speaker 5: Him his team bonus. Obviously, these guys have other bonuses off the field too.

00:04:23
Speaker 4: He should get to Jersey, he should get the hat, all that kind of stuff.

00:04:26
Speaker 3: I think he should be here then as a replacement, because their thing is we could go to ten replacements and we could have all these extra guys here, but they can't actually pitch for us.

00:04:34
Speaker 6: Well, I think that's the tough part about it, and that's why All Stars is difficult. And I've talked to you about this. Maybe give him a whole week off so they can get those guys. And I know it's long, don't get me wrong. It changes, you know, of getting appearances and all that other jazz, But you want the best of the best. As we talked about, you can't hate Miz for getting picked to go there.

00:04:54
Speaker 4: It's not his fault. He's excited than ever.

00:04:56
Speaker 6: But they got to make the right decisions and maybe there's something they need to look back and change for the All Star break. Maybe make it so that on that Sunday, they make it on a Friday, so everybody can get a little more time off and get ready and everybody can pitch. I don't know, there's something else that's got to be done.

00:05:12
Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think any player would sit there and go Jacob Mizerowski is not supposed to be in. He just shouldn't be in, or they're hating on him. That is not at all what players are saying. I think people are saying, you're jealous all this stuff, like these are two guys that made All Star teams. It is really hard to make an All Star team in the big leagues and there are other worthy people to make it. Tyler Rogers should be an All Star. I get it, he's a reliever, but he should be here based on the fact that he played the entire season. I'm not saying rookies can't, but when you make it five games into your career and the five games isn't even like he wasn't elite dominance.

00:06:00
Speaker 2: He had really good stuff.

00:06:01
Speaker 5: And if he was, does it even matter.

00:06:02
Speaker 2: It's like, Ellie, last year you were how hard were you fighting for Eli last year.

00:06:05
Speaker 5: No, Ellie played a full season, Like you mean two years ago.

00:06:07
Speaker 2: Or two years ago? Sorry, two years ago you were like one hundred.

00:06:10
Speaker 3: And Ellie about Ellie had way more at Bad. Yeah, Paul had what eleven started starts and people.

00:06:17
Speaker 5: Were freaking out. Parted the All Star Game, right, and people were freaking out about that.

00:06:21
Speaker 7: Oh, the All Star Game to me used to be a thing you were honored to do as a player, like, oh my gosh, I made the All Star Team.

00:06:27
Speaker 2: I have to go.

00:06:28
Speaker 7: This might be the only one I get to go to. Now it's become like, oh, I made the All Star Team, like, and I have to go.

00:06:34
Speaker 1: I think it was a lot excited to make it. And then they're like I don't want to go. Yeah, I think that needs to be addressed.

00:06:41
Speaker 5: How do we address that?

00:06:42
Speaker 2: I don't know.

00:06:42
Speaker 3: How do we get the guys to show up? Now? More money, more money, And I hate to say it sounds.

00:06:48
Speaker 6: Like bad but all run derby All of a sudden, it's a million dollars to the winner and now you got seven first. For sure, you say.

00:06:56
Speaker 5: Yes if there's money like that on the line.

00:06:58
Speaker 6: And it's not trying to be bragging like, oh, well, you guys get all the money in the world, but you know you put a little dollar figure on it, a little bit more, a little more institive to go.

00:07:07
Speaker 2: I just don't.

00:07:08
Speaker 7: I don't know how you do it, because listen, there's guys that are making the All Star team. You know, last minute and they're coming. But it's kind of I don't know.

00:07:17
Speaker 2: There's like one hundred All Stars now.

00:07:19
Speaker 7: There used to be you know, you had your twenty five on each league and it was man, it was so hard to make these teams. But now there's like seventy five guys on each team.

00:07:27
Speaker 2: Makes me feel like I didn't.

00:07:28
Speaker 1: I was really bad because I never made an All Star seventy you were.

00:07:33
Speaker 4: You were next guy.

00:07:34
Speaker 1: It wasn't yeah.

00:07:35
Speaker 5: And if you played now, you would be a lock because callers would say no, and you'd be like, I'm in.

00:07:41
Speaker 2: It's crazy.

00:07:42
Speaker 3: There's a lot of no shows this year, in particular where I did some research and I'm like, why aren't they here. Some guys are hurt, okay, like Jose Ramira said, I'm heurd, I'm battling.

00:07:52
Speaker 2: He's a fan. Vote that's not that's not coming though.

00:07:54
Speaker 3: That's not coming. But there's a lot of guys on the next list. Okay, I'll point one out. He's parades two time. All sorry, this is second time he's been voted in. He's not a superstar. This could be the only other time that he ever gets voted in. He said, nah, fam time, I'm out. Like, I get it. Everyone's everyone agrees they understand fam time, just like Anthony Rendon doesn't care about baseball and wants his fam time.

00:08:18
Speaker 5: It's a day and a half.

00:08:19
Speaker 1: And here's why.

00:08:20
Speaker 7: Bring your family here. And that's what I'm saying. I mean, I know it takes it all the time.

00:08:24
Speaker 4: Many vacation or something.

00:08:26
Speaker 5: They pay for everything here.

00:08:28
Speaker 2: But bring your family here and have your kids on the field with you, and kids will remember.

00:08:32
Speaker 7: Yeah, the kids remember that stuff and get the cool video of you and your kids and doing the whole thing.

00:08:37
Speaker 2: So I don't know, I just it is what it is.

00:08:39
Speaker 7: People are gonna decline and people can say, oh, but I'm sorry. This isn't against this isn't against Jacob Mezerowski at all. But he just shouldn't be here.

00:08:47
Speaker 2: That's it.

00:08:48
Speaker 7: I don't and this is not a knock on him. It's not his fault. They picked him and he's gonna say yes. Everyone wants to see the guy six seven, guy throw one hundred and five.

00:08:55
Speaker 3: I think the players need to figure out how to get the guys here, and if they have a problem with the current ructure, it's in the CBA. So Ken talked about this on Fair Territory and wrote about it.

00:09:05
Speaker 2: Up at the end of the next year.

00:09:06
Speaker 5: The CBA so try and fix this. The problem is, this is pebbles.

00:09:10
Speaker 3: This is like the fiftieth most important thing compared to what they have to sort through. But the CBA says, if you're not available to play in the game, you cannot be named as a replacement, So you cannot be named an All Star.

00:09:22
Speaker 5: So you won't be a replacement All Star.

00:09:25
Speaker 3: Here's my thing with the guys that say no Todd Father, especially some of the guys that have only been named once or twice. If you went back to when they're twelve years old and you said, hey, Esach, you're gonna make it to the BIGS, and you're gonna be so unappreciative that you're not even gonna go when they ask you to be an All Star. Could you imagine every kid's scream and that spot is to make the bigs let alone be an All Star. And he's just like, nah, I'm good.

00:09:52
Speaker 6: And I think they'll look back on their careers and been like, man, maybe I should have Maybe I should have did that.

00:09:59
Speaker 4: Or you know some of your kids like that eat All Star Game? How many you have? Well I had one, I could have done three, or you know whatever.

00:10:07
Speaker 5: Just the weirdest that didn't go.

00:10:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, why didn't you go?

00:10:09
Speaker 5: People would do anything to be an All Star.

00:10:12
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, go ahead, scot.

00:10:14
Speaker 1: No, no, no, my okay, here's this is obviously my life that I lived. I played most of my career in Triple A m H. In twenty seventeen, I got selected to the Triple A All Star Game. Okay, so I'm thirty seven, I have three kids. We were in where was I at? I don't even remember Columbus. We were going to the shore for the All Star break, okay, or I could go to Tacoma for the All Star Game.

00:10:42
Speaker 5: I named the Triple A All Star Games.

00:10:44
Speaker 1: This is Triple A for a thirty seven year old who had parts of six years in the Big leis at the point. At that time, yep I asked my kids, which would you rather do, go to the shore or go to Tacoma?

00:10:55
Speaker 5: And what they say?

00:10:56
Speaker 1: They said, I want to go to the shore. So we went to the shore.

00:10:59
Speaker 3: Okay, and now let's now let's put that in the big league scenario. If you said, hey, kids, day and a half down the shore or day and a half in atl plus you can still go to the shore, like you can leave and then go to the shore.

00:11:12
Speaker 4: It's what I do.

00:11:12
Speaker 3: Do you think your kids would say, hey, let's go to atl to the All Star Game?

00:11:15
Speaker 1: They would go to the All Star Game in the big leagues. But maybe some guys aren't viewing it as that important.

00:11:23
Speaker 5: Okay, you're wrong.

00:11:25
Speaker 2: I disagree guys that I would agree they should do it.

00:11:29
Speaker 3: Yeah for me, aj, it's like if you've been there ten times and I don't know, they're really getting tugged to do something else.

00:11:36
Speaker 5: Maybe you've got a case, but yeah.

00:11:40
Speaker 2: So excuse me.

00:11:42
Speaker 5: He's a special designation this year as the commissioners.

00:11:46
Speaker 2: It's an honor.

00:11:47
Speaker 3: Actually, most of those guys actually go right, like do you We rarely see someone like a judge or a Harper or anybody that's in the A list say no, I'm not going because I just want to at home.

00:12:00
Speaker 4: It's good for baseball man.

00:12:02
Speaker 7: Well, but here's the thing, Well, especially in a place like the Battery right in Atlanta, there's assigning appearances that you can do for sponsors. I saw Bobby Witt Junior just not long ago doing a thing for he has a water Burger appearance right over here. You can do, especially in a place like Atlanta, where everything is right here. They're staying right here there, they're all these restaurants, bars, everything is right here.

00:12:25
Speaker 2: Stores. You can make a lot of money.

00:12:27
Speaker 5: If you just show up and do something here.

00:12:29
Speaker 2: It takes an hour out of your day at twelve o'clock. Like, oh, it showed up from twelve.

00:12:33
Speaker 7: To one at whatever the truest community corner and I made fifty thousand dollars or one hundred thousand dollars Like that's it's not a big deal.

00:12:41
Speaker 5: The problem is that some guys are on really nice contract that'll pay.

00:12:46
Speaker 4: For that vacation when the season's over with.

00:12:48
Speaker 3: That really well, But if you're one of the guys that's on like a one fifty mili contract and like it's cool to make one hundred k for a couple of days.

00:12:56
Speaker 5: But it's actually not going to change your life.

00:12:59
Speaker 6: It's the incentive of family, it's incentive of thinking about not just yourself, but other things along the way. You know, they like going on that vacation right when the season's then you'd go home, Guys, meet me wherever. Let's go somewhere. It's still money in your pocket. So I talked to Joey bought it back a day. Man, make as much money as you can. And that's one guy that did. And ultimately now he's living a great life, which he was before. Still, but yeah, I don't care if it's fifty thousand or one hundred thousand or ten thousand. It's still a good chunk of change which anybody can use, you know what I'm saying.

00:13:33
Speaker 3: And hey, nobody is more excited than the miss himself. We've had him on the show at a few weeks ago. Jacob Izerawski, I will say, from a fan perspective, aside from the whole debate of oh he should make he should make it, I'm excited to see him pitch. I mean, he's one of the most unique pitchers in the game right now. He throws one oh three his Slider's mid nineties. He's got control of it, like he's the new it thing right now in baseball. And we do get to see him face big league hitters. And here's his reaction after he found out.

00:13:59
Speaker 8: And picked someone else to represent the Brewers and uh, pitching the All Star Game. This is a guy that's generated a lot of excitement. Really proud announced this that our version of Forrest Cup, Jacobzowski, is going to the.

00:14:31
Speaker 2: I honestly have no word, guys, I don't I don't know if that. I mean, it's an.

00:14:37
Speaker 7: Honor and uh, you know, there's a lot of older guys around that's been around for a lot more than I have.

00:14:43
Speaker 2: So I I just wanted to send to thank so all.

00:14:49
Speaker 7: Help you guys, give me you get through these a couple of weeks that have been here.

00:14:53
Speaker 2: So it's a huge.

00:14:59
Speaker 5: He was called up exactly a month ago.

00:15:02
Speaker 1: You know what, somebody said, I forget if it was Castianus or if it was Turner said, oh, it's like a popularity contest, Like it's maybe if people are really pissed about it, maybe you could just go ahead and sell yourself. Like we have a problem with players themselves in the game. Maybe don't wait for the team to say, hey, we got something for you. Go ahead and put yourself out there. Maybe that's maybe that's what helped. I'm not saying, miss Rowski is not like this social media darling or anything like that. Go ahead and sell yourself. If the game's not gonna it's your career. Sell you do what you need to do to get yourself out there.

00:15:39
Speaker 5: How do we find out? Find out who the starters are?

00:15:42
Speaker 4: Who goes?

00:15:43
Speaker 2: The fans vote?

00:15:43
Speaker 7: So it is a popular it's a popularity contest, like the players too.

00:15:49
Speaker 2: Don't let them.

00:15:50
Speaker 7: Don't let people say that it's not a popularity contest with the players because people are like, how many times did you guys vote? You're like that guy he threw at me. I'm not voting for him. I'm not voting for him. It's a popularity It's a popularity contest.

00:16:03
Speaker 2: It is it is. I'm making it into something.

00:16:07
Speaker 7: It's a popularity contest from the fans, the players, and whoever else gets to vote.

00:16:10
Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, just to pick out a name on that side, like Julio Rodriguez has not had a great first half, but he's a known name and players voted for him. He's not here, he didn't come, but players voted for him period. There were other outfielders that have had better first halfs than him.

00:16:25
Speaker 2: There's a lot of outfielders first in him.

00:16:28
Speaker 5: So that's the point.

00:16:29
Speaker 3: The last thing here we found out skens against Google for starting and then also I just wanted to give a shout out to the unsung guys.

00:16:39
Speaker 5: The Padres have three relievers voted in. I mean that. I think that's never happened before.

00:16:44
Speaker 3: Yeah, first team in MLB history to send three relievers to the All Star Game from one team, Robert Suarez, their closer, Jason Adam and Adrian Morejone, two of their setup guys.

00:16:54
Speaker 5: That's pretty cool.

00:16:54
Speaker 7: But this is the picture problem though, how many pitchers have declined that we start getting out of San Diego. Who could have named those three guys outside of hardcore hardcore baseball fans, who could have named who could have told you who Andre Morohane was.

00:17:09
Speaker 2: I'm not I don't mean that. It's great, congratulations Adrian.

00:17:12
Speaker 7: I'm happy that you're coming to the All Star Game, but that's because of all the all the people that have said, no, I'm not coming. I don't want to pitch. I don't want to do this. I can't pitch on Sunday. I'm pitching on Sunday. So I can't pitch like that. But that's what it starts becoming. And who gets to pick the replacements? The commissioner, right, because so get your name out there.

00:17:33
Speaker 1: You think you think Zach Wheeler got the option that he was going to start.

00:17:37
Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't know what the backstory is there.

00:17:40
Speaker 4: Even if he has a bad year, he should have an option that good.

00:17:43
Speaker 2: Like I thought he was going to start. I thought he'd show up.

00:17:45
Speaker 1: He's from Georgia and he's not coming, right, I don't know. I don't know if he's not coming or not. I didn't see a list of that. But my thing is, my thing is this guy's from here. He started last year. I wonder if they went to him and was like, hey, Skeens is going to start, and he's like, all right, I'll be right up the road at my house. And I think he's in like Decatur, d Kolb or something like. I don't know that completely. I'm not breaking news or anything like that. I want to know if he got the option, because the only reason I think that is because Max Freed called Perk scuble. So there is conversation and I don't know, we'll see, hopefully one day we'll find out you can't.

00:18:27
Speaker 2: Argue with schemes. Were scooble though.

00:18:29
Speaker 1: Let mean, come on, like I'm saying, I thought Wheeler would have gotten the start h h and then when he didn't, and then when he didn't, then he said nah.

00:18:40
Speaker 6: So let me ask you this, because Skeins is probably the more electric guy right now, like the name. You know what I'm saying, who's I don't have the numbers in front of the who has the better numbers in the first half, and he still does even though he's kind of.

00:18:53
Speaker 7: Like ga is under a two ear eight, not winning any games. He can't score any run. His era is better, has better more, way more, not way more. He has some more is a few more innings because Skeens is going long and Wheeler has more punches.

00:19:06
Speaker 4: Gotcha.

00:19:07
Speaker 1: Their numbers are both ridiculous. Yeah yeah, but but again no offense. Skeens is the star. He's the bigger star to people out there. Yeah right, he's and he started last year and then they get him ver Schooble. I'm not arguing with you that Wheeler maybe shouldn't have gotten the start Max Freed. They were talking about getting a start for the American League, but schemes were Schooble.

00:19:27
Speaker 7: Those are probably the two biggest names of pitching right now, so it's an exhibition.

00:19:30
Speaker 2: Run them out there.

00:19:31
Speaker 3: Skeins does have better numbers, I mean with a quick look, but they're almost identical on innings one twenty two for Wheeler, one twenty one for Skeins. E r A plus Skeins is at two twelve, Wheeler's at one eighty two. Strikeout numbers are probably in a similar spot. I mean, k P nine a little higher for Wheeler, but like now we're getting into semantics run prevention.

00:19:54
Speaker 5: Skeins is winning.

00:19:55
Speaker 2: Skeins is a better picture right now. I'm sorry he is. I'm not saying he shouldn't.

00:19:59
Speaker 1: I'm say I wonder if you found out, and then Wheeler's like, well, if I'm not starting, I'm gonna do everything I can to recover and at the house, brand new baby at home, all that stuff goes into it.

00:20:12
Speaker 3: Good play, yep, all right, we're gonna step aside. We'll get into the derby. You got other things to hit here obviously on FT and also make sure you tap into get twenty percent off Next Playground.

00:20:24

00:20:47
Speaker 9: Even Summer needs a back up, well pal, a little sidekick in the big kyd of chaos, the kind of partner that turns living rooms into playgrounds and reminds us what our bodies and our hearts were made. Play that moves you.

00:21:03
Speaker 3: Hey, we're back. Let's take a question or two. In the YouTube live chat, Mike g saying let's call it what it is. The miss selection was for casual baseball fans at the expense of real baseball fans, and then brought up a name, Cubs closer Danny Plentcia, just like you brought up Tyler Rodgers, who's another great candidate.

00:21:22
Speaker 1: True, Dave Plentcy throws one hundred and one. If that's what you're looking for, you're looking He's fun to watch. One positive thing is they're promoting a player. I like that part of it.

00:21:32
Speaker 5: And they're promoting I and a starter.

00:21:36
Speaker 3: We have a starting pitching problem too, with guys that you can kind of look at the headline and say, I'm going today because of him.

00:21:43
Speaker 5: Miss is that guy right now?

00:21:44
Speaker 1: Anybody miss? Anytime MS goes up against the other team's best, it's must TV.

00:21:49
Speaker 3: Right Yeah, I mean midweek Midwest game had great ratings. It was sold out for MIS versus Schimes. What two weeks ago? Oh it was they both happened. They both happen. Yeah, yeah, they both happened, and they both obviously had great ratings. Great turnouts matters. Let's not forget is entertainment, So it matters.

00:22:16
Speaker 4: This guy throws that hard. People are gonna be like, whoa, here we go.

00:22:20
Speaker 3: People will tune in to see someone like that, and they want to see what he looks like against the game's best, just like schemes last year. Ever, what was the most exciting part last year that you remember Skins matching up against the big boys, right yeah, and the out.

00:22:34
Speaker 1: The home run Durant Homer winning the m v P.

00:22:39
Speaker 4: Now you know, I know what you meant, Scott.

00:22:41
Speaker 2: You have a Built Rewards card, Right.

00:22:43
Speaker 5: I do, CRATS.

00:22:44
Speaker 3: I pay a lot of money in rent, and now I get something for that. 00:23:43
Speaker 5: And the weeds.

00:23:44
Speaker 3: Let's dig into the home run derby field now that it's set. And it took a second to reset because remember the last guy named in for the eight was Jazz Chisholm.

00:23:53
Speaker 5: That was I think on Thursday, and.

00:23:54
Speaker 3: Then on Friday we find out that Ronald o'cuna dipped out. He's having some back issues. He just came back the knee surgery. Nobody's faulting Ronald, who loves to play ball. I mean he tries to convince the Braves to let him play more winter balls.

00:24:07
Speaker 5: So it sucks to not have him in.

00:24:09
Speaker 3: But then they do the right thing here, No aj replace him with a guy so that they have someone from Atlanta.

00:24:13
Speaker 5: Yeah, you a big home run batch.

00:24:14
Speaker 2: You got to have a hometown guy.

00:24:16
Speaker 5: Yeah. So this is this was the right move.

00:24:18
Speaker 7: Okay, Yes, as much as it stinks to Decuna is not in it but yeah, yes, and Alson being in was the right move.

00:24:26
Speaker 5: Premiere power back in the league for a while two years ago led baseball and homers with I think fifty three or fifty four. I mean, he deserves to be here.

00:24:35
Speaker 1: Yeah, at home, it's gonna hit some He's gonna hit the chop house like six times. I can't wait to see how ball, how far the ball flies here because we've been watching humidor balls here because it's a little bit it's the second highest elevation here and now they're going to use the home run derby balls.

00:24:52
Speaker 2: No humidor these are gonna go humidor there.

00:24:56
Speaker 3: And so far the weather is perfection for balls flying because there's actually a threshold where if it's too hot, then like there's a there's a median range where it's like I don't know what it is, like eight in and ninety five or something like that, where the ball will travel the further out there.

00:25:11
Speaker 4: We should have got him in here.

00:25:13
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:25:13
Speaker 6: Yeah, Listen, five out of the eight guys are left handed. I think they have advantage with cal Raley can go both ways. Who's hitting first, who's hitting last? James Wood a guy got some light tower power. Who's gonna hit the furthest home run O'Neil Cruz might be that guy Buxton. I mean, he's hit a ball for four eighty plus already this year, if not over. Just a lot of good backstories here. Kyle Rally's brother is gonna be catching. I want to get him miked up. I think that'd be pretty cool. Chisholm, he's got stepfather throwing to him. I think that's awesome. Is he gonna take it serious? He just came off injury too, with an oblique So you know, there's a lot of things to take into consideration about all these guys. I mean, it's just really cool. Junior Camanaro, he's electric too, with the whole running hit overseas. Is he gonna have that energy when he comes to play. So it's gonna be a tough, tough one to pick. But at the same time, I think it's gonna be one of the most electric ones. We're gonna see how.

00:26:11
Speaker 5: Much does stamina matter later on.

00:26:13
Speaker 6: Big Time, Big Time, especially in the seat. Yeah, there's no there's no way ce in this one. And I always tell everybody drink your electro lights, don't chug it in between. You don't need extra swings, you know, aj you've done it before, but never time. But at the same time, like people get in the cage and they get after and after every time.

00:26:32
Speaker 5: You're just gonna drain yourself beforehand and in between and in between. Guys will go in between and take more swings.

00:26:40
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, they want yeah.

00:26:44
Speaker 5: Stupid right, I mean, hey.

00:26:47
Speaker 7: As far as I look at it, yeah, yeah, especially when it's one hundred and fifty degrees and it's not.

00:26:51
Speaker 1: A number of swings. Before it was like the outs, so you could take your time. Now you gotta be fresh for that. And that's that's another reason James Wood is going for first. For me, he's gonna have to sit through seven other guys and then go again. What if he wins the first round, He's had to sit through three other guys after that, so he had to watch ten guys hit before he has to go again.

00:27:14
Speaker 2: But he's young.

00:27:15
Speaker 5: Is that good or bad? Because like you do, you get colder, you get some rest.

00:27:20
Speaker 6: It's a little bit of both. But again, you want to get in the kid, get on a bike, get on a cage, something, just to keep moving, Like when I did it, my brother threw to me. I just played pepper in the cage. I just wanted to keep moving, not aggressively. I was just hitting and I would like barely touch the back of the net. Just saw my body was still in that motion to swing.

00:27:38
Speaker 5: So you'd run inside and do that and then close to when it's your time come back out.

00:27:43
Speaker 6: Yeah, so I went back in my locker. I would sit there in the cool air. Cincinnati was disgustingly hot. Yep, drink the pedia light that I was drinking. Maybe have a banana in between, and get on the bike pedal. Watch it while I'm doing a nice easy pedal. And then two guys in front of me. I got in the cage just playing up.

00:28:00
Speaker 4: That's all.

00:28:01
Speaker 5: Is it more tiring than playing a nine inning game?

00:28:04
Speaker 6: Oh my god, yes, it is absolutely absolutely.

00:28:09
Speaker 4: Like not even close.

00:28:11
Speaker 5: How much more tiring?

00:28:12
Speaker 4: Is it twenty times more time?

00:28:14
Speaker 2: Wow?

00:28:15
Speaker 6: Yeah, you're exhausted if you do the three straight round, if you do one round, no, but if you make it to the championship, it's draining. I've been four minutes. Each round was four minutes long. Geez, it goes three, then it goes to two.

00:28:29
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's different now. So yes, they tightened it up. Okay, size up the field.

00:28:34
Speaker 4: What do you like?

00:28:35
Speaker 5: You can give your winner here and we'll do it again later.

00:28:37
Speaker 7: But Vanaro's gonna win because he announced it on our show that he wanted to be in it, so therefore.

00:28:42
Speaker 2: He's got to win, and then he got in. So yeah, it's got to be Junior.

00:28:47
Speaker 5: Who else do you like? If you're like all right, if he doesn't win, I could see I like.

00:28:50
Speaker 2: Cal because Cal is bigger.

00:28:52
Speaker 7: Cals to me, has the least violent swing out of everybody else, so he can just kind of flick balls. And Olsen is Olsen also can just flick balls to left, the center, to right. Cal's not feeling a left handed, he can always just switch sides and then try the other side.

00:29:07
Speaker 2: So those are the three for me that I like you.

00:29:11
Speaker 1: I would say I have one A and one B. James Wood and Junior Cameranaro. I just think there's something about Junior Cameraro being able to go opposite field if it's if it's not flying to left for some reason, or it's easier, he can dump a few over that wall. And I just think I think the young guys, the youth plays.

00:29:32
Speaker 2: In the sport.

00:29:35
Speaker 5: Yeah for me, I'm also with Aj.

00:29:37
Speaker 3: Obviously I'm biased because the guy announced it on our show, but also I like to try and pick a guy who's on the younger side.

00:29:44
Speaker 5: That doesn't necessarily matter. I mean top five.

00:29:46
Speaker 3: You called it last year to Oscar Nandez won, and he was probably one of the older guys in the derby, because the derby will have a lot of twenty two to twenty three twenty four year olds. Tao's probably thirty ish.

00:29:58
Speaker 4: He had some easy pop too, Yeah, off his bat so easy loft.

00:30:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, it'll be different. It'll be different because last year the ball was not traveling.

00:30:08
Speaker 6: If there were as many home runs, if you were here Atlantean range, you have an opportunity to get to move up. There wasn't many twenty five to thirty five at all, if any if you want the truth, if I recall so, we'll see how much the ball goes.

00:30:22
Speaker 7: It's weird about this place is the first couple of years when it opened that everyone was talking about how the ball is flying, and over the last few years it's kind of almost been more. It's almost flipped and I don't know if it's a human door or what. But it's weird because he I mean, this place. The first couple of years, it was like get a ball up in the air out here.

00:30:39
Speaker 2: It was like in the second deck over the bull.

00:30:41
Speaker 7: Yeah, it's changed, but what they changed, but they changed something like Toronto. Toronto used to be one of the best hitting parks in the world, and that with defenses.

00:30:50
Speaker 2: And not only can be that was that was different construction. Yeah, but they didn't. It's not like they changed the building.

00:30:55
Speaker 5: True, a lot of it has to do with airflows, but I heard that.

00:30:57
Speaker 3: That's That's what I'm saying, and they don't even I mean, I don't know if there's a I'm sure there's a way to test this out, but some of it's like you don't know until they actually changed the structure renovation.

00:31:07
Speaker 5: Wise, and then they're like, uh, oh, it's not traveling there anymore.

00:31:10
Speaker 3: That's happened, didn't That happen in San Diego where nothing was moving for X amount of years and then something went up or down ball bar buildings went up and buildings went up and Arlington, Yeah, but that was that was the wind came in and went out and then they glassed it up before they before they toured or before they moved the new stadium, they put glass in the suites behind, and then the wind wasn't flying out and it became more of a pictures park.

00:31:34
Speaker 5: Yeah.

00:31:35
Speaker 3: Well, Globe Life this year is the number one pictures park in baseball Giganic.

00:31:39
Speaker 5: Yeah, and they have good pictures and Atlanta is usually up there in terms of the power department.

00:31:44
Speaker 7: So it's a better show it stick the old Metrodome when they used to say the Twins would turn the fans on behind and were hitting and turn them off when the visiting.

00:31:51
Speaker 2: Thing was hitting, which were like I was like, man, they never turned it on when I hit.

00:31:56
Speaker 5: I listen, guy, yeah, you have here.

00:32:00
Speaker 1: Whatever made it? If they if the Braves know what made it? Like squash the home runs, turn it all off, whatever it is. I want to see balls. I want to see five hundred and fifteen feet tonight.

00:32:12
Speaker 3: That's what everyone wants. Remember Miami. Also, I think John and Judge were.

00:32:16
Speaker 5: In there, and it's not easy to hit balls out of that park. But whatever they did, however, they were different.

00:32:22
Speaker 2: Balls are different. It was flying balls, Todd, you know the balls are different.

00:32:27
Speaker 1: For the home God, I need I need a ball, Give me a ball of Friday. I want a Big League All Star. I went the home run Derby, the color, the tight because I want to see outside. I've never seen how small.

00:32:41
Speaker 2: They're not smaller, they're just harder. That's why have the same ball.

00:32:44
Speaker 4: They just want to think.

00:32:48
Speaker 7: One they gave it away to me was I don't know what year was in Detroit. The home run Derby was in Detroit. Bobby and Bray you in Detroit hit one in right field over the stands up like on top and you can't you can't not hit a ball. You could stand at second base and guys couldn't hit a ball there. And he did it Derby, and I'm like, this is this is ridiculous.

00:33:06
Speaker 4: One.

00:33:07
Speaker 1: The one as for me was Judge in Miami, and literally since then NASA has come out and said they're engineers, said the roof cannot be hit, physically cannot be hit, but they were going with the dimensions of a real baseball normal humans. And so you put those two together and he hit the roof, so it.

00:33:28
Speaker 5: Was not a real baseball or Judge is an alien bro.

00:33:32
Speaker 4: And Milwaukee was incredible too.

00:33:34
Speaker 7: Out the window, Yeah, but he hit balls out the windows.

00:33:37
Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, he opened a fine bottle of wine, took the quirk out, put it in.

00:33:43
Speaker 2: Nob That whole home run Derby I was at that All Star game. That whole home run Derby was ridiculous.

00:33:49
Speaker 7: Johnby was hitting balls to right that were I mean in the upper upper deck, like over the upper deck out there.

00:33:56
Speaker 2: Sammy was hitting them out the window. But I forgot my guy was in that.

00:34:01
Speaker 7: He had no chance against those guys like Toy. Yeah, it was just a Derekson Profar All Star Game.

00:34:09
Speaker 3: Yeah, there were some advantages back then that made it a little bit lopsided.

00:34:13
Speaker 5: Anyway.

00:34:14
Speaker 3: All right, Todd, Father is gonna go. We got Dell Murphy coming up. Good to see you, dude. We're gonna yeah, we'll be watching and listening. Let's go Hot Father tonight on ESPN.

00:34:23
Speaker 2: All right, take it to Derby, Todd.

00:34:25
Speaker 5: Let's go get time for truest money moves.

00:34:28
Speaker 3: Let's hit the draft because a lot of youngsters just got a lot richer, including the youngest number one overall pick ever and the youngest pick in the draft yesterday, Eli willits number overall shocker. We're gonna have hot sheet later from here. Baseball America Hot Sheet. I'll be hosting JJ Cooper's here. We'll have some others joining us remotely, and we're gonna go full scale through the entire draft. So if you want to nerd out on the draft, we'll do that, but we'll give you the big picture right now.

00:35:00
Speaker 5: I know, at least for the top two.

00:35:01
Speaker 7: People were like, hunh huh no, Okay, So here's something that happened. And I and I again hearsay because I was here last night.

00:35:08
Speaker 2: I went over to the draft.

00:35:09
Speaker 7: Yeah, Will, it's the Nationals. We all know it's about pool. We all know it's about how much money you have. From what I was told, nobody was even talking about Will It's making being the first pick until about twenty four hours before the draft, and then people here started hearing it because they had a day usually get deals done before and he probably took less money to be the number one pick. And I don't think that everyone expected Holiday to go one, and he it actually fell to a perfect.

00:35:37
Speaker 2: Team for him and his family, Colorado one. They know well. But maybe he.

00:35:40
Speaker 7: Wasn't willing to take a little bit less, because what I was hearing is he was gonna take maybe a little less to be the one like his brother was was one to one, but will it's apparently maybe.

00:35:49
Speaker 2: Whatever probably took me, Eli Willis.

00:35:52
Speaker 3: Here's my thing though, if you're going to make a pick based on money over your board, which the National claim he was number one, anyway, they have.

00:36:02
Speaker 2: To say that.

00:36:03
Speaker 7: I don't think Travis Bozana last year was number one over some of the guys who went behind, I do not, Okay, So that is my thing with.

00:36:11
Speaker 3: The number one overall pick is that you don't get it often, especially nowadays with the lottery, you better nail it.

00:36:17
Speaker 5: So if you're saving money to get someone later on, that's fine.

00:36:20
Speaker 3: That works sometimes, but if it doesn't, catastrophe in my mind, if we look back and we say, how did they miss on Ethan Holiday or Seth Hernandez and we go, oh, well, they save money for Joe Schmoe in round two and he never made it, travesty.

00:36:35
Speaker 1: They're trying to spread their money out, trying to get the most they can out of it, and this is not taking anything away from Eli Willis. Eli graduated high school early to be able to go into the draft when some people even in his own family, were like I wouldn't he moved up to like top ten pick. He was on the top ten board pre draft, and you know what, he took advantage of it. But as an organization, do you want to go all in on one guy or do you say that's too much of a crap. Shoot, we're just gonna because they're gonna all spend their pull money.

00:37:10
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's not being cheap just for yeah no, no, no, that's all the time. But this money moves conversation. You spend the money that you're giving for the draft.

00:37:19
Speaker 1: I think I think the NAT's had like fifteen or sixteen million. The highest was the Orioles Shocker. That just build up pull money for the draft. But yeah, of course, so they're spreading that fifteen million out. Can they go and get Joe Schmoe like you said in the third round, who says, no, I'm not signing for anything less than a million. Well that's more than you're gonna get in the third round.

00:37:41
Speaker 2: So they go and get it.

00:37:43
Speaker 1: It's a it's a it's a move. But honestly, now too nobody's around to take credit for it. Mike Criso's not there.

00:37:52
Speaker 5: Yeah, well no, I mean they there.

00:37:55
Speaker 3: Everyone else is still intact. I know what you're saying. I mean, but Rizzo did well, this is it's a fault.

00:38:00
Speaker 1: Like if it doesn't work out, they can be like, oh, it's Rizzo's fault.

00:38:03
Speaker 7: Yeah, but Rizzo didn't make this pick. The new GM made this pick. So they'll be like, well he told us to make the pick.

00:38:09
Speaker 3: No no, Because they negotiate with the guys pretty late, pretty close to change the day before.

00:38:16
Speaker 7: They were like, whoa, we can get him for save four hundred, five hundred thousand, and we can use it. Because you have to understand how the draft works. Now, every kid is called before the draft and said, hey, what what what's your number? Right, they call you and say what's your number? And whatever number. Some kids price themselves out of getting drafted at all because and then and then so, but when you talk about the pool money, it's about the top ten rounds. And after you get past the ten round, you can offer creads. You can take a twenty rounder and off from two million dollars if you have it left over. So it's all about that, right. So that's why you'll see some kids that were it's not about what round you're drafted in. It's about how much money you'll accept because it doesn't matter. You can be a first because teams will take college seniors the seven, eight, ninth round, sign them for fifty grand and be like we're gonna draft you and you have to sign for fifty grand and you have nowhere else to go. They have to sign, and then they save the slot money and they can use it after the tenth round or in the tenth round to get kids that they they will they're willing to overpay for.

00:39:15
Speaker 1: I want to know what seniors are getting now. As I signed, senior signed it like fift thousand, I think it. I think it's fifty. I think they have I think it's like ten. No, I think it's I think it's thousand. I signed for one thousand dollars and that was like the standard senior sign.

00:39:32
Speaker 3: I got a text JJ, we'll ask well act and also what we're talking about as senior that's in the fifth round versus a.

00:39:37
Speaker 2: Senior, it doesn't matter, they'll do it. I'm telling you, no, No, I know.

00:39:41
Speaker 5: I'm saying that the lower I think is still in like the ten.

00:39:45
Speaker 7: Because what's the SPA because then you'd have all these teams drafting a guy or two in the seniors and saying one thousand dollars, like you got to get a little bit of a nick to their money.

00:39:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it can't be a thousand because it would be too low.

00:39:57
Speaker 7: Right well, because then then you have to then you like the Brewers and the Orioles had the most fix. Right well, then they spend all their money on their first five rounds or first five picks, and then they're six through nine, they'd be like, oh, we only have to spend one thousand dollars on these, right No, and there I think it's fifty because they have to have a little.

00:40:14
Speaker 1: Nick where nick it's slot range. But either way, to me, the best story Ethan Holidays going to the Rockies. I think it's cool. I think it's cool. One one b best story. Two kids from the same high school get picked in the first ten ricks, three kids in the first round in the first round. That story is any whin didn't win their state championship. That is, they got more calm, the got more, they got more.

00:40:45
Speaker 3: Yeah, and when those three make the big leage on the day, we know what question ag is gonna ask them when they're on foul tarritory when you play first county and how did you guys not win?

00:40:54
Speaker 2: And with three of you, and not only that, how did you guys all get to the same high school.

00:41:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's the part where you're driving.

00:41:05
Speaker 7: The Evil kids are two of them, and the kid next year supposed to better than his brother was. Do you know Evil's third base coach for the Dodgers, his two kids. Then they had seth Rnandez.

00:41:14
Speaker 1: They had the kid that went to some of them coming in as a senior.

00:41:17
Speaker 7: They went to the kid, the kid who went to the Billy Carlson and went to the White Sox. And those are three first rounders the next year Evil's brother. And then they have a center fielder that's supposed to be a high pick next year too.

00:41:26
Speaker 2: There's five.

00:41:27
Speaker 7: You got five first round picks on a high school team. You don't win, you're but they don't do a state game. They do like a Southern They didn't win.

00:41:32
Speaker 4: But still that's even more.

00:41:33
Speaker 2: It's ridiculous.

00:41:35
Speaker 5: Whatever didn't line up our pitching correctly for that one.

00:41:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, you have Cethrnandez.

00:41:40
Speaker 5: That's crazy, But anyway, it was.

00:41:42
Speaker 3: It was a wild start to the draft for a lot of people just even though there is more to the story with how the money gets allocated for people to understand, it was still while because Tyler Bremner wasn't necessarily on many boards to go number two to the Angels and guess what he's actually starting on Friday for the Angel for thee probably I said, hey, Bud Friday, are you around, Yeah, okay, we need you to go six on Friday if you're kidding.

00:42:07
Speaker 1: But if you get a call, if you get a call from a team and it's the Angels, you're willing to take less because of the history. If you're a college kid, you're like, yeah, one hundred percent, I would love to I think organization matters. I think Gage would go into the Phillies. Well, a lot of guys will say his, his stuff can play in the big Leaves right now. Are the Phillies willing to do it or not?

00:42:33
Speaker 2: I don't know.

00:42:33
Speaker 1: You know, that's that's a reach because they have other guys. But if you're called it as a second pick and you're like, no, I wanted six million dollars and they're like, well, the Angels want you, will you take five point five?

00:42:46
Speaker 2: Oh?

00:42:46
Speaker 1: The Angels netto Christian Moore, Shanna will ben Joyce, all dudes that got called up within the first year. Nobody wants to go to the bushes.

00:42:55
Speaker 2: Nobody wants to go to minor leagues.

00:42:56
Speaker 3: If I was playing right now, that would be the number one team by far, because also it's not like a mess of a friend.

00:43:06
Speaker 5: I mean, they haven't made the playoffs in a long time, but like they'll spend on the roster. There's some good names there. Right you get to play with trout and you get called up to the show. If you're ready to go, that's the most enticing place by far, I agree easily. Wouldn't you feel that way? So if right now you're in high school m hm, or let's say college because they call it college.

00:43:24
Speaker 2: Organization matter, organization matter.

00:43:26
Speaker 3: You're a college player in the SEC, you're like an elite bat that could hitting the big leagues in a heartbeat.

00:43:35
Speaker 5: What's the number one team you're hoping, Pixie, No.

00:43:37
Speaker 7: The Angel, especially if you're a college guy, if you could be there that year. They were going to call Christian worbup that year. They were, but he got hurt because college.

00:43:44
Speaker 1: Now, no, I don't say it is using is using some of the development and organizations are like, oh, well, these guys have know how to read their track man, they know how to read what's going on. They're doing shifts. They have a pitch com not the same as a big league PitchCom. But they're using things that guys are like, hey, you know, or organizations are like, ah, this is easy. We don't have to develop. We're not good at developing them. We'll pick them throw them up there.

00:44:11
Speaker 3: College is the new minor leagues. In some cases, they're cutting minor league teams down, and then if you go to the right school, your facilities are worlds better than the minor league team that you're playing on.

00:44:23
Speaker 1: Yes, but they're not teaching them. They're teaching them to win. They're not developing the player like you develop in the minor leagues. Minor leagues doesn't do a good job of developing players to win. Most organizations, some organizations keep prospects together and go, yes, you're gonna stay together, you're gonna learn to win, because there's this thing about winning, like you got to learn to win. But big but because in college they're like, well, we could develop you, or we could just do whatever it takes to win. That's different. That's why dudes are throwing one hundred and forty pitches in games.

00:44:53
Speaker 5: True, True, I think there's a balance with some of the schools.

00:44:56
Speaker 3: That's how they recruit guys and say, hey, we're gonna take care of you, and we have a pitch lab that twenty other Big League teams don't even have.

00:45:03
Speaker 5: So come here right there.

00:45:04
Speaker 2: There's certain schools.

00:45:05
Speaker 7: There's certain schools that are pitching schools, or certain schools that are hitting schools, no doubt, you know they have reputations. But for me, the organization is the thing, because organizations will rush you if you get drafted. There's certain organizations that hold guys down a little bit longer. There are certain organizations that throw you right into the fire and say go get them, and they in some new organizations.

00:45:21
Speaker 2: Are better developing pitching. Some are better developing hitters.

00:45:24
Speaker 3: My only thing with Ethan Holliday is it's really cool and sentimental. But the Rockies are a mess right now, and they they are one of the few teams that I think are worlds behind on information.

00:45:38
Speaker 2: But has many He has his dad and if he hits, he'll bring him up.

00:45:41
Speaker 5: He'll do his own thing, right, yes, and they know that.

00:45:44
Speaker 2: Yes, so it's different.

00:45:45
Speaker 3: Okay, if you have more thoughts on the draft or questions for us hot sheet coming up later, foul territory, drafted uniform, who is not game anyway? All right, let's step aside. Richard Grisham is going to join us next for some video game talk, and then we're going to go over the all star starting lineups a little bit later on at the truest stop by or in the battery, say, what's a The way to buy, sell or trade your cards is Arena Club. It is the top marketplace in the biz to get that done.

00:46:22
Speaker 5: And crats. We love the slab pack situation because rolling through a ton of cards.

00:46:28
Speaker 3: Physically opening them, finding all kinds of commons that end up folded or in the garbage is old news. Why not get a slab pack and get a chance at a card wheth thousands of dollars.

00:46:39
Speaker 2: I was a common card.

00:46:40
Speaker 1: It's okay if you don't get me in your slab pack, because you put as little as twenty five dollars into for a slab pack, and you could pull out something that's worth thousands of dollars and it's a keepsake that you get to like, wait, you know what, it might be worth this much today, but I get to watch the value grow.

00:47:00
Speaker 3: And right now, you can get twenty percent off your first slab pack or card purchase by going to Arena club dot com slash foul and use the code foul. That's twenty percent off your first card purchase or slab pack at Arena club dot com slash foul code foul.

00:47:15
Speaker 5: All right, we're back. We got a minute. Let's do a quick hitter question then we'll do our segment.

00:47:18
Speaker 3: So just with the YouTube crowd right now, Andrew said, are you guys gonna talk about the Angels and Rangers having no representatives at the All Star Game? And he said, why would either fan base watch? Well, I mean you can watch other players. I think we don't need every team represented.

00:47:35
Speaker 5: And now we're in a.

00:47:35
Speaker 3: Position where Kikuchi's not pitching, so he doesn't go what mlbs to just keep going down the line and ask every Angel come on?

00:47:41
Speaker 5: I think that part is a non story.

00:47:44
Speaker 1: Sorry sorry to that fan base, but to me, it's it's not like they had their guys in. They could show up and do the hat tip. I don't think they need to. You don't want them pitching like they just pitched.

00:47:57
Speaker 3: Yeah, and then you have the fans that don't want their guys pitch. So it's like you can't make everyone happy, but they cannot satisfy all thirty.

00:48:04
Speaker 5: They get as close to it as possible. Do you think they even need to make sure that all thirty are represent it?

00:48:09
Speaker 1: I don't.

00:48:10
Speaker 5: I don't either.

00:48:11
Speaker 2: An All Star would be better to answer that.

00:48:13
Speaker 5: I know it means something to some and you know some kids are like, I want to see my guy there.

00:48:17
Speaker 7: If the Rockies didn't have Goodman this year, should there have been an All Star from the Rockies twenty two wins or two and seventy four?

00:48:25
Speaker 2: Should they have had it all?

00:48:26
Speaker 7: I look at the White Sox change Smith made it cool story? Should he have made the All Star team?

00:48:33
Speaker 4: Say for him?

00:48:34
Speaker 5: Player, you should complain about that part too, Hey, so and so didn't make it. My guy didn't make it.

00:48:38
Speaker 3: Because we're playing that. Everyone gets the metal game. Let's slap we're doing those here. So today we'll have Hot Sheet coming up at three thirty Eastern time, so this show ending in a few minutes, and then Hot Sheet will get rolling. We're gonna go over the entire MLB draft, So if you missed anything or you want to be able to tell your friends what you know some good tidbit about the draft. Then Baseball America obviously is all over the coverage there. JJ Cooper is gonna be sitting next to me, and we'll have some friends joining us remotely as well.

00:49:19
Speaker 5: Starting lineups were announced already. Anything stand out to you?

00:49:24
Speaker 1: You know what I like?

00:49:25
Speaker 3: On the American League side, Labor Torrez leading off, sneaky, great first half of.

00:49:32
Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying.

00:49:33
Speaker 3: So on base Machine, which I think really cranked in the playoffs, he looked like a different version of himself and then has carried that out into the first half of this year.

00:49:42
Speaker 5: He's on a one year proven deal.

00:49:44
Speaker 3: So American League's got Glabor, Riley Green, Judge, Raleigh Bladdie Junior, Rhin O'Hearn junior, Cameronaro, Hobby Bye as Jacob Wilson. And then on the National league side, you're starting nine. Otani will bat first, then Akunya could tell Marte three, Eddie Freeman, Manny Machado, Will Smith, and then the last three are Kyle Tucker, Francisco Lindoor and pc A, Peter Armstrong.

00:50:08
Speaker 7: Come on, Tiger's won too. Tigers won too in the American League. By the way, the lineup, that's awesome. Schooballs starting three starters for the best record in the American League.

00:50:15
Speaker 2: And then the big thing.

00:50:16
Speaker 7: What kind of ovation is Freddy gonna get when he comes up to best, right, it'd be a long standing ovation.

00:50:23
Speaker 5: Biggest hitting ninth.

00:50:25
Speaker 2: I'm the last same you think Pete r Arms are hitting ninth.

00:50:28
Speaker 1: Never never maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe.

00:50:33
Speaker 2: Maybe last year when he first got bet, yeah, probably still didn't hit him night.

00:50:37
Speaker 1: I mean, just is like a you know, a guy to have some speed for the top of the lineup. You can steal bases maybe, but the lineup, it's not even close. National League lineup is sorry. I mean, maybe that means americ leg is gonna win, but that lineup is predunculous.

00:50:56
Speaker 5: I agree, it's definitely in favor of the n L.

00:50:59
Speaker 2: But it doesn't matter. A wins always no not.

00:51:03
Speaker 3: I mean, he's an American League guy usually the case. But is the n O one two in a row or they went two years ago? Remember Elias Diaz was the MVP like the most random.

00:51:16
Speaker 2: And I remember we all picked it.

00:51:17
Speaker 5: Who won last year?

00:51:19
Speaker 2: Jared Graham.

00:51:20
Speaker 5: Oh, so American League one could win. Yeah, America League, yes, al it does usually win.

00:51:25
Speaker 1: But this is like a showcase for kids. The pitchers usually win because dudes just come out. I remember when Chris Sale came out, and you know, Chris Sale was normally like a ninety six to ninety nine guy, and he came out in the All Star Game was like one hundred and one hundred and two. Like now, like, dudes, dudes, let it eat. So you're gonna see some just ridiculousness and you're not working at bats. You're just hoping you run into.

00:51:46
Speaker 3: One crats hats on the way out. And we're staying for the online crowd if you're watching on YouTube right now. But TV crowd's about to say bye. Why blue Jays?

00:51:54
Speaker 1: Why blue Jays. Yeah, so everybody knows who first place is in the American League.

00:51:59
Speaker 3: True, although there's now multiple teams catching them, including the Red Sox who have won ten games in a row.

00:52:05
Speaker 2: Haven't lost since he went to the Oval office.

00:52:07
Speaker 4: Just say it.

00:52:08
Speaker 5: And how about the Brewers who have won seven games in a row. There who's a damis lose.

00:52:15
Speaker 1: Devon Williams figure it out and now they have a better starting rotation than anybody ever thought.

00:52:21
Speaker 2: And they have dudes.

00:52:23
Speaker 3: Chad Patrick was close to the NL Rookie of the Year voting. Yeah, he's in the bushes. That's right back for a bonus three minutes. Dodgers territory coming up next. We'll throw you to that YouTube channel and then hot Cheet will be after that on the Baseball America YouTube channel. We love the YouTube crowd. Subscribe. This is a big week for us. We're here in Atlanta, everyone working hard behind the scenes. So while we have two and a half minutes, let's give a little love to Toni three innings this weekend. It's working his way back. I mean, he looks as good as ever on the mound. I know, short stints right now, but pumping a hondo top of the zone breakers are good.

00:53:00
Speaker 5: I mean, it's gonna be hard for them to hold him back in the second half.

00:53:05
Speaker 2: True, true, they're.

00:53:07
Speaker 7: Gonna and they need him too, so they keep just adding guys slowly in inning inning, But he's starting to mix more pitches in, starting to go deeper. The velocity is held steady, so we'll see, But then we're also gonna see how it is affects is hitting, because you can't tell me it's not.

00:53:20
Speaker 1: Going to at some point if if there's something that's gonna take him to where I think he wants to go to seven innings, where with the Dodgers it'll let guys go seven innings. He if he wants to get up to that point, based on what I've seen so far, he needs to start putting guys away early. He's striking out the side, but it's on like seventeen and eighteen pitches an inning, and I don't think the Dodgers are gonna allow his pitch down to get up high enough to where I mean, let do you strike out like seven straight guys between his last start and then this start Like he's dominant. His stuff is dominant, and I don't know if they'll ever stretch him out, if they'll let him be seen more than no, they they.

00:54:04
Speaker 2: Will, you think.

00:54:04
Speaker 5: So here's why he's dictating because he wants to.

00:54:08
Speaker 3: He's going to say, listen, I'm feeling good, let me eat, And what are they gonna do hold him back? He signed up long term and they're trying to be the first team in a quarter century to win back to back World Series titles, and he might be their best pitcher at that point.

00:54:21
Speaker 5: He might be their best starter stuff wise. Is anyone better than him?

00:54:24
Speaker 4: Stuff wise?

00:54:24
Speaker 3: I mean, obviously they have guys that can keep up with him if Snell gets healthy. Class now, Yamamoto is good. They said Roki Sazaki could come back in about a month he started throwing. But for me, if that version of Sho Heo Tani is pitching for them in October six innings please.

00:54:43
Speaker 1: Okay, I'm just going based on the the track record of the Dodgers.

00:54:49
Speaker 3: Heyj do you think that they're gonna have the power to stop not stop him, but say, hey, we only want you.

00:54:54
Speaker 2: To go four or five, no five and this year because you're just coming back good.

00:55:00
Speaker 3: Do you think he will make a six inning outing at some point in the regular season or postseason six.

00:55:05
Speaker 5: Innings over under? Maybe regular season, but you think regular season they'll get to six. Okay, he keeps going to this pace, yes, Okay, I'm sure.

00:55:13
Speaker 3: They'll talk about it coming up on Dodgers territory. So we're gonna throw you to that right now. If you're watching us on Foul Territory YouTube.
