Guys, I have been around Ryan the Kentucky State Police my entire lot most of my life. You know, my mom was a prosecutor in Bell County. She worked with the State Police forever. I see PJ. Burnett back there, who worked with my mom for a number of years. That was a surprise to get to see this morning. She loved him over the years. I won't compliment you to your face, but that's a name I've heard a lot. And you know, I would see the officers in our lives when growing up. And you know, I never had been here, which is where they learn all the things needed in a twenty four week program to become an officer. And they gave us a tour earlier. Not only is this the place where you learn and there's all this you know, all this equipment.

Speaker 2: Walked in and I guess part of what they do when they teach us, when an officer or somebody that does the training comes about, they like stand at attention right and you know, treat them with respect. But it shows my I guess, arrogance that I thought they were doing that for me. I wanted to look at the guy and go, hey, it's good. Yeah, I don't have to worry about it. We're all good. And then I was like, oh, it's for those guys. Okay, they've got is such.

And also it just you know, seeing the tributes to fallen soldiers, the statue out front of me, Neelie, it really gives you more of an appreciation too, not that I don't already have it, but seeing here and what everyone gives to serve it really makes you appreciate.

Speaker 2: Well, let me mention this because I think it's a very cool thing you guys do. Here. In that room back there where the quarters are, they have the pictures of all the Kentucky State Police officers who have fallen in the line of duty at some point. But not just that, they have weights literally like the kind of weights you would lift weights to train that has the name of all of them. And the officer that told us about it said, we have these weights so that you the trainees are literally carrying the weights of those who've fallen before. That what a strong reminder of what these folks do, and you know, very symbolic. But also you know, their pictures are all up and I think probably a lot of times when something like that happen, that happens we talk about it in the moment.

Speaker 2: All move on with our lives. It's nice to see officers it look like going back to what the fifties, sixties that were up there, going back a long time with their pictures up there.

Speaker 5: That's one of my biggest takeaways is how they're honoring the legacy of those other officers that have fallen and helped blaze the path that they're on today. So, yeah, those the wait you're talking about, they said they never touched the ground. They will never allow them touch the ground fully.

The law Enforce and then if you are an officer, they have the Law Enforcement Accelerated Program, which is a fourteen week academy. The regular academy is twenty four weeks. We'll be talking more about that. But what a cool thing. I didn't really know what we were coming to today, and so now it's really nice.

Speaker 5: Where the game is. The tour of the barracks. It kind of said this used to be a prison. And then you can kind of see the cells that are not divided. Those are the dorms that they these guys stay in. It's really kind of a good school set up.

Speaker 2: We're gonna be the agility test. You have a bench press, you have to do sit ups for two minute intervals. Riding you're out all right, blowing up all over the place. There three hundred meters sprint. Now you surprisingly used to be able to run. Yeah you still no, Okay, you have to do push ups and a one point five mile run. Yeah. I don't know how much of that I would pass.

Speaker 2: You can walk that far? Well, So yeah, we're here today. Nice to see all the officers here and some folks in the area. We are right in the midst of basketball season and getting ready. Tomorrow night, Kentucky goes to Austin, Texas plays their first true road game.

Speaker 2: They've played them twice, but never played them on a true road game. It's at eight o'clock on a massive day of college basketball. We'll talk later. You know, the number one and two teams in the country are playing each other tomorrow, but we will be the night cap at eight o'clock at Texas. No Jackson Robinson, no Lamont Butler, at least Drew. That's how I interpreted Mark Pope's comments yesterday.

Speaker 2: The road is what I worry about because a version of that lineup played at Old Miss and looked, yeah, overwhelmed. I mean they looked overwhelmed. And when the crowd got into it. Now, I don't know what the crowd is going to be like down there. I mean, I think had it been a normal if they were good, I actually think the crowd would be wild since the first time we've been there, but they are really sliding, so I don't know what it's gonna be like. I'm not sure.

Speaker 8: I think Kentucky might have a good turnout. I went down there for the football game and had an absolute blast, and every Kentucky fan I ran into was already talking about how they were booked for the basketball game, ready to run it back. So I think Kentucky will have a good crowd. And you're right about Texas. They're they're going the wrong direction. They were supposed to be a good team this year, and I mean what I've seen of them. I watched the whole Arkansas game. I mean they played zero defense, like didn't even pretend to play defense. Alabama scored one hundred and eight on them their last game at Austin. I don't know that Kentucky will score one hundred and eight, but it's a good matchup. They don't force many turnovers, they don't rebound. It could be one where Kentucky can put up a lot of points even without Robinson and Butler.

But if they can score, just to help you out a little bit, help that cushion. With Robinson out, I think you're in a good So if.

I think then there's a group of like eight or ten teams that are in the next tier, of which, if we're healthy, I think we're in that group two. But they haven't had the number one and two teams play each other since two thousand and eight. If they're from and in the same state, it's only happened like five times in history Memphis, Tennessee, Duke Carolina a few times. Uh, and that's it. Those are the only times the number one, the number one and two teams from the same state have played each other. You know, it's funny with Auburn being pretty bad at football the last few years in Alabama, am I you know Savans left the football state is a basketball state. It's they're saying, maybe the biggest game in the history of the state of Alabama on Saturday. Are you excited to watch?

Ninety two, the team that lost to Lagner three, the Bogans and all those guys, and how good that team was, the one that lost to Dwayne Wade, twenty ten, Wall Cousins, Patterson probably twenty fifteen, that just because I really liked those guys a lot. And then I'll maybe throw in ninety eight when we won the title with Tubby. That's those are the ones that stick out to me. It's just my favorite teams to watch and be around. Right, what about you?

They were all really good too. So those are about four.
