Somebody stop them. 00:00:21 Speaker 2: Are you Jim Carrey or a clone? That's the big question. Do you know Rich Davis actually went to Jim Carrey High School? That's why he saw hyper and weird like that. Oh right, well you did go to Carry High School. That is Franklin Square, Long Island. Oh, just not Jim Carrey High School, but you might as well. That's Rich Davis. I'm Steve Covino. I hope you had a great weekend, not a Jim Carrey sort of weekend. That dude is all over the news for all the wrong reasons. You know, He's part of something I'm gonna discuss today. Don't believe the Hype is a sequel. Don't believe the hype. Three BS stories that I'm going to get you to the bottom of today, plus Iron Mike Trivia giving away prizes on a Monday, and of course io Sam is here, Danny g is here. We're glad you here. Fox Sports Radio Nation, Let's rock out. Oh sorry, Doctor Seus's birthday celebration show, what's your favorite Doctor Seus's book? His book about me? Because it was very, very self serving and I filled in all the pages. But honestly, after the Katanahat came back, that was it for me. Dude, gonna say, no one loves Steve Covino more than Steve Covino. I know, Ioa Sam's favorite book. Sam, I am bro Sam, I am in his green eggs and ham. Hey, do you know there's a backstory to that, Sam? 00:01:31 Speaker 1: Tell me about it. You want to learn something. I want to hear. 00:01:34 Speaker 3: More about this Jim Carrey thing because I just heard he got like your eyes messed with. 00:01:37 Speaker 1: You'll hear about it. 00:01:38 Speaker 2: Buddy's Elwegger's Club Surgery Doctor Jews's birthday. 00:01:42 Speaker 1: He was dared. 00:01:43 Speaker 2: He was dared to write a book with fifty words or less. And he said, all right, bet I'll take the physical challenge. I'll take a ride down the Sunday slide, I'll grab the flag up the rubber nose, and I'll write a book. 00:01:56 Speaker 1: And he wrote a book with fifty words or less. 00:02:00 Speaker 2: And it was one of his most popular, In fact, the most popular. Sam I am and his green eggs and ham. 00:02:05 Speaker 4: You know. 00:02:07 Speaker 1: You talk about Sunday slide. 00:02:08 Speaker 2: I was a bigger fan of when they would burry the flag in between the waffles. 00:02:13 Speaker 1: That was a good one. 00:02:13 Speaker 2: Well, that was a good one too. By the way, Danny g great to see you. He's our super producer. How's your weekend, buddy. 00:02:18 Speaker 1: Yeah, yay. How are you guys doing? Good? Man, good to be back. I like getting back into the flow of things. Yeah, all the places you'll go. 00:02:25 Speaker 2: Of course, Lowen Kron is hanging out and let's get into it. 00:02:30 Speaker 4: Man. 00:02:30 Speaker 2: Happy heavenly birthday to doctor Seuss, a guy that changed a lot of our lives. 00:02:35 Speaker 1: Could you know you told me something this morning? I did not know. Yeah. 00:02:38 Speaker 2: Not only did doctor Seuss want a fifty dollars bet that he could write a book using only fifty words. He was about to call quits, and the story goes he was walking down the street. He was walking down the street and he had a book under his arm, and he had given up. He said, if I'm not getting signed today, he went to every publisher in the city and on his last publisher they didn't give him the Okay, He's like, all right, well then I'm giving this up and I'm burning this book and that's it. I'm giving up as as an author. He ran into an old pal who had just got hired by a publishing company. 00:03:15 Speaker 5: Yeah, that's funny that you would rewritten a book. See yeah, yeah, I'm working for a publisher. Now why might I take it over down to the publishing company for you? Doctor Seuss. See he wasn't the Doctor Seuss then. He was like writing comics for the newspay. 00:03:29 Speaker 2: But and his friend brought it to the publisher on the day he was ready to call it quits. 00:03:34 Speaker 1: And had he called it quits, we wouldn't have all these legendary stories. 00:03:36 Speaker 2: The guy six hundred to seven hundred million books sold later, he's a legend. You know, there's another story about just giving it one more shot. Now, I'm sure the story is in sports and entertainment you could probably think of. But I know we have the theory of like, how do you know when someone's really dead? What if he gave one more chess compression? Like it's really you never know when to give up. 00:03:58 Speaker 1: I call that the Bob Ross theory. It's like Bob Ross, you'd be like, oh, it's done, don't stop it. 00:04:02 Speaker 2: And then how do you know when he's really done? Because every time I thought he was done, he carried on with happy little trees and little cabins. I'm like, no, and the better dude, it's snow on the tree. 00:04:12 Speaker 1: It was perfect. No, okay, I see what you're doing. 00:04:16 Speaker 2: John Krasinski. Do you guys watch The Office? Obviously back in the day, Absolu, do you know his story? 00:04:21 Speaker 1: Ioa Samuel. No, he was about to call quits. 00:04:24 Speaker 2: He moved out to Los Angeles and dead end after dead end, he's waiting tables, probably bartending, and he's like, Mom, I'm coming home. 00:04:32 Speaker 1: The dream's over. 00:04:33 Speaker 2: She's like, well, you have the lease of your apartment until the end of the summer, so why don't he just hang out for just a few more months. And in those few months when his mom said, just tough it out a couple months and then come back at the end of the summer, he got the audition for the Office. We've heard so many stories in sports of so and so was, you know, stocking shelves or Jeremy Lynn was living on a couch. Like these people, whether in the back of their mind or not, they still believe they had a chance. They were a pretty close to call on it quits. 00:05:02 Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox was quits in that little apartment that he had. Yeah, that's true. 00:05:07 Speaker 2: I mean there's so many, so many great stories, but yeah, doctor Seuss one of them. Like you said, a guy that almost sold a billion books was about to call. They say, on the day he was ready to burn the copy of To Think. 00:05:20 Speaker 1: I saw it on Mulberry Street. I believe was the first book. 00:05:23 Speaker 2: You know who has a big story like that, Pat McAfee, Right, Remember he was going to go to a smaller college and he rounded up the money to go to like a kicking competition, and he's. 00:05:33 Speaker 1: Like, I know, if I go to this bigger schools, than notice me. 00:05:36 Speaker 2: And everyone's like, I don't know, dude, just take your scholarship for the smaller school. And McAfee tells a story about how you believed in himself that got him noticed, and Tadah, the rest is history. 00:05:46 Speaker 3: So went to West Virginia where he was able to play in some big time Bowl games. 00:05:52 Speaker 2: But before that, that was not the plan. So hey, bet on yourself, believe in yourself. 00:05:58 Speaker 1: Do it. 00:06:00 Speaker 6: You know the Doctor Seuss book that Cob wants me to read to him every single day. 00:06:04 Speaker 2: Okay, I guess yeah, go for it. One fish, two fish, redfish, bluefish. Ah, Horton, here's a hoe. I mean, involves a car, involves a car. 00:06:15 Speaker 6: Go dog go ah, you dude, he has so many so you even turn that into a cartoon series. 00:06:22 Speaker 2: And they're currently making or rebooting another Cat in the Hat because the Michael Myers one, the Mike Myers one, I should. 00:06:27 Speaker 1: Say Michael Myers one at a harr version. 00:06:31 Speaker 2: They didn't do what they expected is kind of creepy, but you know it's kind of creepy story when you watch it, yeah, or when you read it. So anyway, we celebrate Doctor Seuss and the stories of people just about to give up and then realized nope, they have bigger dreams ahead. Well, can I ask you a question? As Danny G cleans off his chair on video? By the way, that's great if you're watching the YouTube channel right now, you could see Danny G's diligence. He wipes down his chair with Clark's wipes. You think Jay Stuw's got like remnants all over or some of them. 00:07:01 Speaker 1: I don't know. 00:07:02 Speaker 6: There's been at least twenty hours of assetting over here that I'm not aware of. 00:07:06 Speaker 1: Right, they sprase it. Oh, Danny g does a diligent cleanup. I don't blame him, to be honest. It grosses me out when people sit on dirty chairs. 00:07:14 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not a personal thing towards Jay sting all that stuff every day. Yeah, it's very German fest it spray. It's not the feeling of sitting on a warm toilet, is it? 00:07:22 Speaker 1: Does that how you feel? Oh? 00:07:24 Speaker 2: That's always a weird feeling, right, like someone else's ass warmth. Anyway, before we get into a wild weekend, we got to talk about the wild world of Shilah buff and who he hates in the sports world. Dude, there was a lot going on this weekend as far as the world news and politics and bombs being dropped. I mean, the news was kind of, let's just say, wild to watch on the weekend. But maybe you were out there living your life and you didn't see any of this. Then there was the Jim Carrey story we're going to talk about later. 00:07:57 Speaker 1: On a hypothetical let a start. Sure, I think there's a good one for you all right this year? 00:08:02 Speaker 2: It because I don't know anyone hyping up the World Baseball Classic like you. You love a good fight and you love baseball. 00:08:08 Speaker 1: Dude, Am I the only guy that watched narette fight this weekend? 00:08:11 Speaker 4: Do you? 00:08:11 Speaker 1: I might be? 00:08:12 Speaker 2: You were seeing Paul Skins and schooball getting nods on the hill right now we're watching on one of the TVs, Bryce Harper is being interviewed. It's a squad. I know you're pumped. Team USA looks donestly. You're a nerd and doctor SU's coined that phrase. They're not sure if he invented it, but he definitely popularized the term nerd. You're a nerd if you don't care about the WBC or boxing this weekend. Nerd, navarete over NOONEZ Like, I'm really wondering what are you watching? 00:08:48 Speaker 4: Then? 00:08:49 Speaker 1: What are you so focused on? Look? I like love is blind. I love some trash TV. 00:08:54 Speaker 2: I watched Traitors, I watch audio. But you're too cool to watch the World base Ball Classic. I'm sorry, I'm not too cool to watch a really great hockey tournament. Hockey is not my favorite. But I'm not saying, nah, I'm not watching that. I guys, I'll put it on. You're there, lame o. Honestly, if you're not watching at WBC World Baseball Classic, that's so perfect? Do you even you leaned into it more than I even had hoped? Because I don't understand how could you call yourself a sports fan and not be like pumped about it? All right, what if here's the hypothetical. In order for Team USA to win, you have to give up five Yankee wins this year? You're taking the deal. Five wins can be the difference ninety eight and ninety three. It could be eighty five to ninety Eighty five might not put you in the playoffs. It could be one hundred wins versus the Al East Tight. Then what's your number? What if I said three, three wins, three wins, Yeah, I'll sacrifice three Yankee wins. You got Garrett Cole coming back, Garret Cole, you got freed, you got you got a pretty solid, solid starting five. Danny say three, sacrificing three Dodgers wins, I'll give you seven Dodger double. I think I think you have to have I think your second place team. 00:10:07 Speaker 1: And here's why. I think you got to ride. 00:10:09 Speaker 2: I call it riding the burst, ride the wave, riding the momentum, whatever you want to call it. You know you got to keep that Olympic juice going at us say that that you that that why that everybody can get behind. And Aaron Judge actually alluded to that speaking to McAfee. He talked to McAfee and mcfeel was like, yo, man, we're just trying to keep that that vibe going. Even though it's four hundred and twenty dollars a USA jersey, if you're trying to get one, and that's a story in itself, Yeah, that's the story itself. You won't even get it, I think until after the tournament, which is weird. 00:10:42 Speaker 1: And I'm a fan. 00:10:43 Speaker 2: I think they look cool, but but you try to keep that pride going. I think USA needs that pride especially now. I think we need to be unified and is this America's game or not? Because guess what, Japan is the only one with three victories. Japan has three victories, the dr has victory and we only have one. So I think it's time that we step it up. We put our best out there. We have a squad support him. I think it's I think it's dope. I'm super dope and underrated. Aaron Judge hits the walk off in the World Baseball Classic. Yeah, that's but the Yankees. You're giving up five, not five. No, I won't do five. 00:11:18 Speaker 1: Five. 00:11:19 Speaker 2: Five is too tricky and every the Al East is too stacked and it's too competitive. Three might take it for three, could take it from ninety two wins to eighty nine. 00:11:28 Speaker 6: Three. 00:11:28 Speaker 2: I'll take though, for a nice win for the country, for for some pride, for some something to unify us. You know, I thought the hockey thing would do that. But no, but a bunch of sports babies. Aaron Judge hits the walk off. USA wins, but uh he aggravates his hammy and hecked out for two weeks. Oh no, not worth it? Uhh us pride, no hammy, two weeks. He's been a little tweak. 00:11:52 Speaker 1: No, okay, not yet. 00:11:55 Speaker 2: It's gonna be fun, though, meaning this is the sixth World Baseball Classic. We've seen it grow. It's going to be fun. But I'm not giving up some sort of injury for it right not right now. And that's bad. Publicity for the WBC. That's his biggest criticism. Well, I'm hoping that I don't want a star player to get hurt. I'm hoping that Skeens gets a little tired. In the World Baseball Classic, it's my Mets play the Pirates opening day, and you would think, WHOA, what a sweet opening day opponent, the Pirates, But it's Paul Skins. Well, the Mets got to play on opening day against Paul Skeens. As I was saying, you had lots of crazy world news, which is why we need some like I said, something to cheer about. Let's go Team USA. Yeah, that starts this week. You had this Jim Carrey story. We'll explain. It's all over social media. In a nutshell. He looks different and the world can't handle it. They think it's all aging. Yeah. And then the other story. If you were busy living life, I get it. You may have missed it is Shila buff was interviewed over the weekend. If you guys remember he was arrested at Marty Graff for partying and getting belligerent and he was head butting people fighting in the streets. He was arrested and then he did a sit down on like the local Channel five affiliate over the weekend, and he was interviewed by this guy named Andrew Callahan. 00:13:20 Speaker 1: Who did such a tremendous job. 00:13:22 Speaker 2: Honestly, it felt like a barstool style of interview, but he did such a great job of letting Shila Buff just rant away and answer these questions. He almost said too much at times, But much like Mike Tyson, I love his vulnerability, you know, Mike Tys would be like, I'm just not a good perth and deep down I'm an d you know, deep down I'm an animal, you know, like you're the same. Weird things like that. That's how Shila Buff is. He knows he's imperfect. He's very vulnerable. He says crazy things, and he said lots of crazy stuff that you could check out on your own time. He went on about how he doesn't think he has a drinking problem. He thinks he has a small man complex like a Napoleon said, he has nothing against gay people, but he's scared of big gay guys. 00:14:02 Speaker 1: Such that was just a tippity. 00:14:04 Speaker 2: I mean, he's as far as intrigue and interest, the guy just brings all sorts of interesting storylines. 00:14:12 Speaker 1: What's up? I was saying, So. 00:14:14 Speaker 3: Andrew Callahan, I follow him Channel five is like it's a fictional it's the name of his show, so it's not a local news. 00:14:21 Speaker 1: He's he's fantastic. Yeah. 00:14:22 Speaker 3: Yes, So he does all these wild interviews with all these various people and his he gets a lot of views on YouTube. 00:14:29 Speaker 1: This one has two million in just two days. 00:14:31 Speaker 2: Well, I'm glad he said that because I'm like, he's wearing a suit, he's got sneakers on, right, he's got the wild hair. 00:14:36 Speaker 3: He just he's like this, I don't know, you just independent, intrepid journalist, I guess. 00:14:40 Speaker 1: But he just does these all these really interest great jobs. 00:14:42 Speaker 2: I looked in and I'm like, this guy is a great broadcast some of his other stuff. But it's like, like I said, it was done almost like barstool style, but it was a serious interview and you're like, oh, okay, this is legit. And Shilah buff just goes on his crazy rants and I find him to be extremely let's just say the same way I find Mike Tyson like intriguing interesting, Like Wow, I'll watch this guy talk all day because I think I don't think he's dangerous. I think maybe to himself a little bit. I think that I think he needs help. But maybe it isn't alcohol. 00:15:15 Speaker 1: Maybe he just needs some like therapy or something. 00:15:18 Speaker 2: But well, alcohol mixed with trauma is a bad recipe for why he was in jail. But this Shilah Buff interview really is like every sentence out of his mouth, it is very like Mike Tyson, very Dennis Rodman, Charlie Sheen, very like Yo. 00:15:33 Speaker 1: What is he gonna say? Crazy? Honest? 00:15:35 Speaker 4: Right? 00:15:35 Speaker 2: And there was a story he was telling about when he was a kid, he was part of the Big Brother program because his dad was always you know, locked up or abusing. I mean that's part of his story, right, abusing and doing things like that. So he said that as part of the Big Brother program, he would get these tickets to all these Dodgers games and he has some crazy, crazy resentment toward one particular Dodger. 00:16:00 Speaker 1: And I get it. 00:16:01 Speaker 2: If you were busy, you missed it. But you got to hear what he said about former Dodger. Should I give it away? 00:16:08 Speaker 1: Yeah, take a listen. Take a listen to Shila Buff. 00:16:11 Speaker 7: Remember trying to get Mike Piazza's autograph. 00:16:14 Speaker 1: You know what I mean from my. 00:16:14 Speaker 7: Whole life, Mike Piazza were waiting outside the every day this guy bro. 00:16:19 Speaker 1: So yeah. 00:16:20 Speaker 8: We used to go to the Dodger games. Big Brothers program used to get these tickets out. You go Dodger game. 00:16:25 Speaker 9: I mean all of them dudes would be sitting in the parking lot. Brent Butler always signed, Adeo Nomo always signed. Mike Piazza, just a cold Pazza. 00:16:34 Speaker 1: You're a bro. How many times do you think he rejected signing up? 00:16:38 Speaker 8: Every day Bro? 00:16:39 Speaker 9: I did it for I used to go out there ninety times. Probably rejected me ninety times. 00:16:43 Speaker 1: So what it did was. 00:16:44 Speaker 9: I'm gonna sign them all. 00:16:45 Speaker 7: So when I got on, it was like, yo, Mike Piazza. 00:16:49 Speaker 1: You know who else has a similar story. George Lopez. 00:16:53 Speaker 2: His famous story was when he was a kid, he saw Eric A Strada on chips. He saw Eric Strada's like, yo, that's a dude as a dude who looks like me. He's doing big things and he was inspiring to a George Lopez, right, because I do leave representation matters and you see something. 00:17:08 Speaker 1: Like that, You're like, all right, it gives you hope. Like I could do that, I could be that. 00:17:12 Speaker 2: And he went and saw Eric Strada filming in his neighborhood and he went to shake his hand. Eric Costrada blew him off, and that's why he started that sort of f you too. He would have a whole arena full of people saying you Eric Astrana. 00:17:31 Speaker 1: Once he blew up. 00:17:33 Speaker 2: But Shilah buff said when he blew up because of my Piazza thing, he vowed to never blow off a kid. And he's always taking pictures unless, of course he's eating dinner. His clad was the best he goes outside an autograph. This is why Shila Buffe so interesting. I'll always sign for a kid unless he said I'm eating dinner, I'm with my kid, or I'm chasing. 00:17:52 Speaker 1: Ass was his answer. 00:17:55 Speaker 2: He talks a lot about chasing booty this interview guy. But it brought up the question for all of us, is there a pro athlete you have an irrational hate for? Like listen, because you know what it is a lot of times you might catch someone on a bed day you have it ninety times Piazza blew them off, like ninety times. As the kiddo say, that wasn't on my bingo card shata above. Haven't e vendetic against Mike Piazza was not predicted by me at least, no, no, But it was so funny and so out of left field, or should I say so out of a home plate? 00:18:29 Speaker 1: You know that. 00:18:30 Speaker 2: I was like, Oh my god, is not funny. This is comedy without even trying to be funny. Calling Piazza beach was not on my radar. That to me any saying few Piazza. 00:18:41 Speaker 1: It is so funny. 00:18:42 Speaker 3: This is like Angels in the outfield without the magic and the happy ending. It's like remember how the movie starts, like there aren't they sneaking into baseball games trying to get guys autographs? 00:18:51 Speaker 1: Hey look, you used to be mel Clark. 00:18:54 Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a great question, like interrational sort of hatred because you're right for all we know, And I've met Pianza, I've interviewed him. He comes from a great family. He's a great dude. He has a great story. He's a guy that was never supposed to make it right. He could have been like a doctor Susan gave up, but you didn't. 00:19:13 Speaker 1: I remember one time. 00:19:14 Speaker 2: And it's a weird move too, because you don't like to do those, like phone calls like guess who I'm with. But Cavino hosted an event once and he hit me up. He's like, guess who I'm with? And it's like, Yo, what's up? Richard's Mike Piazza. You're not here, Mike Pianza. He couldn't have been a nicer guy, and he was very nice to everybody I saw him interact with. But that's my experience. Every has a different one. Right, do you have an irrational hatred towards somebody? And why, let's get it off our chest? Clearly clearly shy above? How to get that off his chest this weekend? You know, people will always ask us. The common question is like who are your favorite guests? Who are the worst? And I have a couple worst and they're weird ones too, right, like Molly Ringwald. We had Molly Ringwold on the show and we were like, oh, it's a throwback well do well throwback Thursday. Talk to some old movies. See what's going on in her life now. Her and a rep were both like, yeah, she's not talking about anything prior to. 00:20:09 Speaker 1: Like today, and I'm like, I like this. 00:20:11 Speaker 2: She was one of those that didn't embrace the past and didn't want to talk about anything like that. 00:20:16 Speaker 1: So I remember being like, this is the worst, and you're the worst. 00:20:19 Speaker 2: And then there's other actors who are known for let's say, one part of their life, and they accept that part graciously, even though it's probably annoying to them, they still accept it. 00:20:31 Speaker 1: She was not willing to. 00:20:32 Speaker 2: Talk about sixteen candles or breakfast club or pretty in pink or any of that. 00:20:37 Speaker 1: And I remember thinking, like them, why would I want to talk to you? 00:20:39 Speaker 6: Right? 00:20:40 Speaker 1: And you know, yeah, do you know what? It wasn't even that, it was how it was handled. It was relief. I'll give you the other one. I don't hate her in any way. 00:20:48 Speaker 2: I'm not to think, yeah, Rich, Rich clear, I'm just I'm thinking of people. I have it irrational like dislike for Colin Kaeperdick, nothing to do with the kneeling, nothing to do with his politics. 00:21:00 Speaker 1: I'm a Niners fan. 00:21:01 Speaker 2: I met Collin Kaepernick in a VIP area at an ESPN party when we were working there. He was not distracted, he was not with his boys, with his crew. He was by himself. And Cavino knows I got a back Rich up on them. Cavino would love to make fun of him. Yeah, he was by himself, just like looking at his phone, like just killing Tom waiting. I think for someone. I go, yo, Cap, my name is Rich, big Niners fan. I work at ESPN, And he just like, yeah, yeah, I go. 00:21:26 Speaker 1: Yo, can you take a quick pick? 00:21:27 Speaker 2: And he's like, nah, I'm not doing that bye, and he just walked away from me. He was playing slap ass and being cool with everybody else. 00:21:34 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:21:34 Speaker 2: I was like, and then at that point I was like, in your career, will that suck? And yeah, I remember what he was wearing. He was wearing like a like a leather trench coat, and he was being super smiles and fun with all the hot women that were walking by and everybody else. But he did blow off Rich, and Rich couldn't have been a bigger fan in support. Rich had his jersey I remember, So, yeah, that hurts. 00:21:53 Speaker 1: That's thing. I remember being like, f this guy. And you're a grown man. 00:21:56 Speaker 2: At the time, so imagine how a kid feels when you're just trying to meet your hero. 00:22:00 Speaker 1: So irrational hatred. 00:22:04 Speaker 2: As we already said, it's irrational, you know, but I'm sure you got your reasons so eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Much like Shilah Buff who says therapy is. 00:22:13 Speaker 1: Just not for him. Yeah, CJ. 00:22:15 Speaker 2: Stroud maybe different, Danny, jeez, Dany just need to get it off your chest. 00:22:20 Speaker 6: That's all right, Danny, get it off your chest. Mine's more recent. It was after Stroud's great rookie season and we're on media row at the Super Bowl and he's standing now just beyond our stage area with his buddies and they were all wearing their dark sunglasses, indoors and their big chains and. 00:22:37 Speaker 1: They were blinging. 00:22:38 Speaker 6: And I walked up to him, and I didn't do the whole fan thing, none of that. I kept my words short and sweet, and I just said, hey, we talk about you a lot on our radio show. We're right over there, and I pointed to the FSR stage, which was beautiful, like it is every year. 00:22:52 Speaker 1: It's not some small times peanut thing. This is Fox Sports. 00:22:55 Speaker 6: He looks at one of his boys and then he looks back at me and he just had to. I don't know, it was something in his demeanor that was off putting, and he blew me off. 00:23:06 Speaker 1: And I was like, okay, whatever, fine, but you've seen what happened to his career since then. 00:23:09 Speaker 2: Yeah, if you mess with someone on the show, clearly I'm seeing a pattern. 00:23:15 Speaker 1: Yeah, and he needs to redeem himself. 00:23:16 Speaker 6: I feel like he'll go back to his rookie form if he goes on the Covino and Rich show. 00:23:21 Speaker 2: You know, and and you say to him, your next playoff performance is going to be the worst ever ever. 00:23:26 Speaker 1: Yo, man, I jinks you for the mixt you playoff performances. I jink it's fine. 00:23:31 Speaker 6: And if you don't want to go on a radio or TV show, you can just say no, I don't have time right now or whatever. That would have been fine. But just the way he acted, I was like, yeah, I don't know about this. 00:23:40 Speaker 2: In these stories of life, you give people two strikes, you know, not necessarily three, like. 00:23:45 Speaker 1: Three strikes, cause you got to say, sometimes you have a bad day. We all have we all have bad days. No, that's more than fair. 00:23:51 Speaker 4: Right. 00:23:51 Speaker 1: So you got someone in a rush, maybe they're in a rush. Rich. 00:23:54 Speaker 2: I saw your buddy, our buddy Torch at the gym the other day. Yeah, yesterday, I was in a rush. He want to sit in chit chat, you know, that would be the equivalent of taking a selfie and sign an order. 00:24:05 Speaker 1: He yeah, I gotta go, man, I'm like, yo, dude, I gotta go. 00:24:08 Speaker 2: And I sort of blew him off and I felt bad about it, but again he caught me at the wrong I don't got time to hit chat. 00:24:15 Speaker 1: I'm on the move, you know, because he guy. 00:24:18 Speaker 2: So that's why I'm saying, you got to give people some grace sometimes maybe they're in a rush, maybe they had a bad day, maybe they just got bad news. Right, we know that you give them another chance. I think you give them second chances, third chances in this particular sort of thing. I don't know about that. Two times on Mike Piazza, for all we know. Maybe he's so shy of abouff and he said this punk, he's been here ninety days. This kid, he's no good. And speaking of there's a story about Mike Ponz okay, and Shila Buff hates him. 00:28:03 Speaker 1: Now. 00:28:04 Speaker 2: For the record, Shila Buff said some pretty off color things in his interview, but he was very honest and vulnerable. 00:28:11 Speaker 1: I give him credit for that. 00:28:12 Speaker 2: Yeah, don't think for a second we stand for all the crazy thoughts that he shared. I just find him to be interested, him interesting. I find him compelling and honest. And I mean, yeah, don't you just disagree. You don't do agree or disagree with anything I said? No exact compelling and if you miss those clips, You're bound to see him drops again to Andrew Callahan, who Sam's a big fan of, who did a great job interview on him over the weekend. But these clips went completely viral, and one of the funnier stories was how angry Shila buff is toward, of all people, Mike Piazza. 00:28:46 Speaker 7: I remember trying to get Mike Piazza's autograph. You know what I mean from my whole life, Mike Piazza were waiting outside the every day this guy bro. 00:28:54 Speaker 1: So yeah. 00:28:55 Speaker 8: We used to go to the Dodger games. Big Brothers program used to get these tickets out. You go Dodger game. I mean all of them dudes would be sitting in the parking lot. 00:29:03 Speaker 9: Brent Butler always signed, Padeo Nomo always signed Mike Piazza, Alaza, you're a bro. 00:29:10 Speaker 1: Love it. 00:29:11 Speaker 7: How many times do you think he rejected signing it? 00:29:13 Speaker 1: Every day? 00:29:14 Speaker 8: Bro, I did it for I used to go out there ninety times, probably rejecting me ninety times. 00:29:18 Speaker 1: So what it did was. 00:29:19 Speaker 9: I'm gonna sign them all. 00:29:21 Speaker 7: So when I got on, it was like, yo, Mike Piazza. 00:29:23 Speaker 2: Those stories are great, though, because you learn a lesson and you know, Mike Piazza and stories like this. They never think that the kid they snubbed is gonna make it this foreign life where they'll get called down. I always find those stories funny. When someone does blow up, I remember those things along the way. There's a funny one that's not like a ventul one. Do you guys know the Eddie Murphy Rodney Dangerfield story. Okay, they told him he wasn't funny, right, Rodney Dangerfield early on at Eddie Murphy's career is like, hey, kid, you don't got to curse. 00:29:52 Speaker 1: So much of it's not good. Hell like your act to terrible. 00:29:56 Speaker 2: And then Eddie Murphy was like at his prime in the eighties and bumped into Robbie Dangerfiel in a bathroom and he just looked at me and goes, hey, I guess I was wrong. 00:30:05 Speaker 1: Like a very simple funny story that we've heard over the years. 00:30:08 Speaker 2: All right, So based on the Shiah leabuff, I mean trauma that he still holds and angry he still holds towards Mike Piazza. Do you have an irrational hatred towards somebody who Yeah, and I want it to be us, but it won't be. But who's going to be the genius that could bring Shilah buff and Mike Piazza together. 00:30:26 Speaker 1: I would love to do that. 00:30:27 Speaker 2: We Danny reach out to both repsqu orchestrate a coming together of Piazza and Labuff. Well, I think it's good to get it off your chest and let this play, you know, be the place where you could do that. 00:30:39 Speaker 1: You know, I have an irrational I don't want to say hatred. 00:30:41 Speaker 2: I think that's a strong word, but there's certain things that motivate me, like I use those things to motivate me, So I look at it as a positive. But we had a former agent we've told the story that said, straight to our faces when we were at our most vulnerable and desperate times, this is we. Rich and I lost two full time jobs after COVID COVID hit. Our agent said to us straight to our face that he reached out to everybody and there's just no market for Cavino and Rich in the world of sports. There's just no market. And we're like, yeah, but we needed none of the there's just no market for you guys. So we got a new agent and within a month we're here. 00:31:18 Speaker 6: That's so and you know what saw that you guys improved a lot in a month. 00:31:23 Speaker 2: In an saw that guy at Colin Cowhurtz party, super Bowl Week just recently a hug. No I didn't, Okay, I told the year before I did say hi to him. I like it, Tom Petty, but yeah, you know, and I'm like, you know what, No, I'm not gonna be the bigger person. 00:31:41 Speaker 1: Screw that guy. 00:31:42 Speaker 2: So you know, a lot of these things use his motivation, but you got to get it off your chest, right, So let this be the spot eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox and at Covino Enrich. 00:31:53 Speaker 6: Who do we got loaded lines? Lots of good stories coming on. Let's start with Jason in Arizona. 00:31:57 Speaker 1: Hey Jason, what's up? Man? 00:31:59 Speaker 11: Hey guys, great show, best show on Fox. You know, I wonder you know that you know that scene where Happy Gilmour is like that Bob Barker. You think Buff walks around? Do you think le Buff walks around? 00:32:10 Speaker 4: He's just randomly and it's like. 00:32:14 Speaker 2: He's got such a chip on his shoulder. Is just another part of it. Yeah, like he was snubbed as a kid. He's he's still mad about it. 00:32:24 Speaker 1: Dude, I'm with you. I find it equally funny. 00:32:27 Speaker 2: That is, he's wild, and like, listen, I hope he doesn't harm himself or anyone. 00:32:32 Speaker 1: He's intriguing. The guy's clearly got something doing. 00:32:34 Speaker 2: Says he's got anger issues that stem from small guy complex maybe ego ishu and ego issues. 00:32:42 Speaker 1: Funny, it's just out of. 00:32:44 Speaker 4: Nowhere, Piazza. 00:32:45 Speaker 11: But hey, so I grew up in I grew up in Detroit and was raised in Detroit. We lived in h I would live in a city called Royal Loak at the time. So we're out at this Irish bar. This is in like oh five oh six, So obviously Tiger's through and through and all of a sudden, this my buddies and we turn over and Bobby Higginson is sitting Remember Bobby Higginson back in the day. Yeah, so old Higgy's sitting there. He's with some of his boys and it was really chill bar. So so we go over to him. We're like, hey, Higgy, what's up, man, you know whatever, thinking that guy'd be cool because we're in metro Detroit hanging out. His buddy stands up like he's the bouncer, right, like, oh, don't don't bother Bobby this and that, and my buddy turns. My buddy turns to My buddy turns to Higginson. He goes, oh, yeah, you're great at baseballam being a ahole? Bobby turns around. Give him this grim look, this little this, this douchebag gives him this look, and he goes, ten million a year. Baby, Oh you know what, I love it. 00:33:39 Speaker 1: Good story, good story. Let's keep rolling, Danny. We got Don in Colorado. Don, what's up? My man? 00:33:46 Speaker 4: Man? You guys are my bros? Loos to you every day at three o'clock. I'm hiking a bowler Colorado. There's no market for Carino and rich. There's a huge market for Cavio on Rich in Bowler, Colorado. I want to tell you guys, thank you man, thank you. 00:33:59 Speaker 1: Brown. 00:34:00 Speaker 4: Sit to the story, all right. So it's a circa no, this is nineteen eighty two, kind of the strike shortened NFL season, and the Packers at that time played four games at Milwaukee County Stadium. And so the Vikings are in town to play the Packers at Milwaukee County Stadium. And my buddy and I were huge football fans. He's a huge Vikings fan, and the away teams always stayed in Brookfield, Wisconsin, which is a suburb of Milwaukee, to stay at the Sheraton Hotel. So the night before the game, we're like, hey, let's go to the hotel and we can try to cop some autographs. Yeah, all right, So we get our little pads and go to a hotel. We're looking around for Minnesota Viking guys. We can't find him. Suddenly around the corner comes this guy and he's in a brown suit. This guy is huge, I mean, he's a giant, and he's with another kind of a shorter bug guy in a white guy. And so right way, I don't know who the gas. It's really familiar. So I go up doing with my little autograph. Patton's ten. Yeah, I go, I go on your articraph. He's literally looking down at me and I go. He goes, yeah, what's my name? And I go, oh, Matt and Blair, who's a really good linebacker for the Vikings. Back then they both burst out laughing and uh, not him, No, it was not him. 00:35:19 Speaker 2: We continue, Okay, well you know what, hold on, This is the longest story we're gonna teach you. You know you seek the good dude, incise this story. 00:35:28 Speaker 1: You know, let's go to Isacron update. Isaac's like, what are we doing? We'll get back to your buddy Finis story after the update. 00:35:35 Speaker 2: The unbelievable ending of this Minnesota Viking, Minnesota Viking. 00:35:40 Speaker 1: What's up, Isaac tot. We call it teas. 00:35:42 Speaker 12: We have plenty of stuff going on elsewhere in the NFL.
