Mm hmmm. I feel like I'm like far back well lagging. No,
I don't mind. I don't mind sitting up like this. I sure are
you sure up? Because it's freeze framing. We've had a lot of technical
issues lately. We tried to switch PCs because this one's been a pain in
the ass, but then the other one wasn't working either. Tweeted let's go.
What episode is this we're doing for the hundred episode? Bubb's coming back?
And then I'm taking a little break, all right, thank you?
Shut my phone on silent? H oh yeah, how long is the podcast?
And now? Okay? Good? I told the guy was trying to
get an est minute. How long he's about to have my car? What
did you say? I said at midnight? Did wait? What? No?
I just said, I'll probably a couple of hours. Yeah, we
do an hour show and then there's a half hour ballon this episode that you
can join for if you want for the Patreon or you don't have that sounds
nice? Okay, everyone has said yes, sir, already here. I
do have the film tonight. Then I have another podcast night too, so
uh and as xbox cast, oh yes, yes, this sent YEP Yep,
it is still very laggy. So you know you see that right now,
it's fine now that you're looking. Yeah, now you're looking. It's
fine. It's great. You saw it too, there, right, Yeah,
a little bit. It's just like a hiccup. It was like a
little hack up. What's gonna graphic up? It was like a ten second
little intro jingle after I introduce Okay, follow you make sense? Yeah,
A Welcome back to the Nontendo Podcast. My name is Would, and we
are joined today by spawn wave Zone John. Hello, Hi, Hi,
Hi, it's good to be here. I'm gonna get yelled about this.
My shoelace is untied every single time. I didn't realize shoelaces. We're gonna
be in the shot. Oh, it's the shoecast. Everyone calls it the
feet cast because the whole episode is me waving my little fetis around. Uh
so excited to have you in. We're like good friends. Were good friends?
Do we say that? Yeah? Yeah? Family, even brothers maybe.
Well it's a lot easier now you're up in the northeastern area. I
know we've even got the chance and it's been a minute, but we've got
the chance to work out together. Now you've driven up and worked out in
my gym a few times. Yeah, which, by the way, you're
looking huge, Thank you, thank you. You might be the biggest guy
we've had on the podcast. And we had a wrestler. We had a
wrestler. But there's arms are looking thick over there on that camber and every
time I cut over there, I'm like, but I had to wrap my
favorite sweater today, so my arm's on out. Yeah. I saw that,
the Mafia shirt. Eye, that's a good one. You're a classic.
Do you want to give a history? Should we leave that one?
Little East gave that one up as I think, Yeah, I think so.
I haven't seen it in person in a long time. I have My
wardrobe is full of sweaters and Kim's always like, you got to throw some
of these out. I'm like, no, because one day I will use
one and this is one. She's like, you never wear that. I
will wear it. I have a lot of stuff too that I don't wear.
My try to throw it all away. So probably don't fit in half
your clothes anymore. But I keep them just in case, just in case
you shrink back down, just in case something happens. If I get bigger.
Oh you have those clothes? Yeh? Are you trying to get back
in them? But muscle wise, no, cause you how big were you
at one point? Ah? And by big we mean not like you've been
working out big. I was like two hundred and thirty pounds. It's crazy.
Yeah, there's old videos of it. And then you lost a ton
of weight and then start of putting on muscles. Did you put down to
like one sixty one at one point? What do you weigh now? One
eighty? And how much do you? How toll are you? Five ten?
Yeah? So you're big. You're a big guy, big boy.
So yeah, it's uh, well, I mean not big necessarily. It's
like you're either six foot or not. Right, So I mean you're you're
you're looking great. Yeah, well, thank you. I actually was trying
to find pictures images of you for the thumbnail last night, and I looked
up Spawn Spawn Waved John and all the photos it's just that shirtless one of
you with the beach, or like you working out in the gym. Like
there's no normal photos of you anymore. It's just ripped. I used to
post more of them than I kind of slowed down a bit. How do
you how do you feel? How you feel about that? You feel good,
you feel strong, you feel healthy. I do a lot more than
before, a lot more. There used to be a lot of like candy
and bowls of cereal at night. And you'll like, you'll like the video
game video games World, Buff dad. Yeah, I'm getting up there a
bit. I'm an age. Do your comments of us say like, oh,
buff buff daddy, thank you for the news. Literally someone's in the
chat right now saying he is literally the hottest guy right now. I get
a lot of dms. I thought about saving him, and you know,
before when I retire, the last video is just me reading all the dms.
I mean, not to make you feel awkward, but you've also got
like a nice face and jaw. Your bid is like full and thick.
You have these great eyebrows you have really, I don't hear that like thick,
like defined eyebrows. Yeah, someone comes to me is like, God,
do someone those eyebrows? No, they look good, they look good
the way they are. Anyway, we can stop gushing over how could you.
Let's talk about your channel and how that's going, because you have just
been on a steady rise of success in creating these daily news videos on your
on your channel. I've always kind of seen you as like the video gaming's
Philly DiFranco. You said that before. Yeah, it's you post every morning,
you post a news style video about everything that's happening in the gaming space.
You do it in such a clear cut, factual, non bias way.
You just give the people the news, and then you get out,
you spend time with your family, until you do it all again the next
day. What's that been like for you growing that channel over the last several
years. It's been it's been nice to have like an expected workflow of I
have twenty minutes, I'm gonna fit the news in here, comments, poll,
that's it. And I do that every week day, so it's like,
Okay, I can set my clock to it. Yeah, but we
talked about it a bunch, But I'm so jealous of your workflow because you
you just you know what you have to do every day, you get it
done, and then you can spend your day with your family or working out
or whatever other work you want to do. I do a lot of writing
during the day, so a lot of the stuff in that video is like
me sporadically writing, see I silenced my phone, that was my watch,
that was my watch automatically, I will take my watch off. I don't
even want it. Oh wow, I hate that. You ever. Do
you have an Apple Watch? No, I used to have a Galaxy Watch.
New to me. If you like, lift it up and like it,
it turns on and you start talking, it will automatically start listening to
what you're saying. So just the movement of your wrists. Yeah. Yeah,
I used to have a Galaxy Watch, and then it don't really a
watch. Guy, I don't know. You know the main reason why I
like having it is for the step tracker. Yeah stuff. I rely on
my phone sometimes because it says it has a step tracker, and I feel
like it's very inaccurate. The watch was so much, it was so nice
for it. I always trying to add ten thousand steps a day. Yeah,
so I Galaxy watch. I've seen Apple watches, but not many steps
a day you're doing now, i'rounly ten to fifteen thousand somewhere in there.
Yeah. I have an entire well, I have an entire setup downstairs,
and I figured this out where if you have a standing desk, all right,
she can get him cheap on Amazon for like one hundred and fifty dollars
and uh for like the motorized one. Not when you gotta like wheel around
to get it up and then you have like a walking pad. It's basically
a treadmill that doesn't have walking at your stand up desk. Yes, oh
wow, So what I do is it doesn't it doesn't have like a handle
on it. It's like a treadmill that goes maybe I think at the most
a three an hour, but you said it like a two or something,
and you just kind of slide it under the standing desk. I have my
PS five with a monitor, and then I also have a monitor here that
I plug my MacBook into. So most of the day I'm kind of working
and walking in playing games and walk. Is that not distracting if you put
it slow enough? Not really? Like one day I didn't even realize it
and it stopped, because after an hour it just stops going. And then
I started it again, and I looked later on that day and as like
twenty six thousand steps because I just wasn't even thinking about it. I was
just I was typing all my stuff. I played Rebirth for like three hours,
so it's it's nice. You can do it right in the morning.
Just go downstairs and start going through checking out everything's going, and then I
might need to start ap playing this. I think the whole the whole thing,
the table, the walking pad was like three hundred bucks total. I
already have a stand up desk. I just need the walking pack. Can
you link me that? Yeah on Amazon. Yeah, took today to get.
There's no uh, no assembly. It just comes out of the box
because that is one area that I struggle in, especially because it's been so
cold. Although today's a beautiful day. Yeah, it's like seventy so many
can get outside. I like to go outside, just walk. But it's
uh, it's easy that way. I can do it at night, in
the morning, it's raining, doesn't matter. Damn, don't let all your
secrets out. There's a lot of secrets. Everybody's gonna get buff. Hey,
if it helps people anyone out there get a little healthier, I have
no problem sharing that stuff. You've already said walking is like an underrated key
to fitness and like staying trim and thin and sexy. And ever since you
said that, I've been walking so much. I stopped like trying to run
or anything like that. Just walk, And yeah, it does. It's
amazing. It's incredible. Most people, you know, just spend more time
walking anyway. So you can just kind of put it in your day,
play some games or work. You're just working at home, man, So
now you figured out being at home playing games and walking. Have you ever
thought about walking and playing games maybe with like aar glass and glasses while you're
outside. I feel like you'll read about me in the paper like the next
day or something at that rate. I don't know. It's crazy, it'll
happen, and that'd be a whole thing. I don't know if my luck.
Okay, Well, everybody should go and check out your channel for daily
news updates. I watched it this morning on the way here. But we
have a lot of daily news updates to talk about right now. I asked
you what you wanted to talk about specifically, and a couple of things you
brought up were the prices on the Mario remake games. Is Nintendo overcharging for
those? Oh and before we get to that, can you bring up the
fake direct because literally like an hour ago on Twitter, as we were waiting
to get set up this like, I'm calling it a fake direct because I'm
assuming that's what it is, but this leaked out. What do you make
of this? April eighteenth, twenty twenty fourth Nintendo Direct. I feel like
I'm in the eye doctors right now. You're trying to read it. I'm
going to read it. You can read it off. Yeah, it says
Higher Warriors, Imprisoning war November twenty one, twenty twenty four, win Waker
HD, Monster Hunter Stories, Endless Ocean, Epic, Mickey Paper Mario,
There's Animal Crossing, newly f HD, Fantasy Life one, de Kapolice,
Little Kiddie, which I don't know what that is, Biomutant, Super Mario
Party two, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy two, Scalewave, Unbound,
Call of Duty, Black Ops, Braid Anniversary, Luigi's Mansion two,
Metroid Sandwich Returns, Metroid two Echoes plus Metroid Prime three, Corruption, Metro
point four. So this essentially is somebody tweeting out the run sheet of a
supposed Nintendo Direct that's supposed to be happening in April on the eighteenth, to
say page twenty. Yeah, it says page twenty seven of sixty or something
down there. I don't know what that one are the other pages. Then
if this is like this is the only page you need right here, yeah,
I mean that's weird. It could be. I mean we're assuming it's
fake, right, so they could have just slapped that on there to make
it seem more legit somehow in some way. But it could be part of
a loga document. Well. I mean, first off, we would know
that this would be coming from if it was truly leaked out Nintendo. It
wouldn't be Antendo America because the way they have the date set up, it's
the eighteen four, that's true, twenty twenty four, So immediately we know
it's not a Nintendo America. Where you can then kind of look at some
of the names and maybe dates from there as well, or localization because they'll
change the names for different regions. But no, I would be shocked if
a document like this existed halfway through an entire pamphlet of other documents, where
it has the antendor direct at the top, with shadowing by the way on
the logo and all these basically everything in it. I just like the things
you're pulling out here, the date arrangement, the shadowing on the logo.
Yeah, I mean a lot of this does feel very off. Also,
it's one of those lists that's almost like a dream event, like anytime you
see these like list leaks, when like everything's a dream announcement of what we've
all been wanting. But also there's things in here that like why would they
be showing them again, like Epic Mickey, rebrushed, Endless Ocean, Luminous
Manstahuana stories. I mean, these are all things that we just saw in
the partner direct that we had we need to release a for Epic Mickey,
But the other ones, yeah, I don't why they would show them again.
I mean so much of this is the same as the last one.
I mean the only other of things that stand out to me is like that's
kind of specific. It's like Hiro Warrior is the Imprisoning War That's a very
specific title. I guess I could they could gleam that from just the lore
or story of Tears of the Kingdom, right, Yeah, I mean there
is a like a fire Emblon game is expected that they can probably go through
a bunch of the rumors that are out there now and just kind of throw
them together and on a piece of paper. But you could have also done
maybe a little bit more when it comes to the the fake leaks like these,
like you could put it up on a put up on like a PowerPoint
presentation on a computer screen and take a picture of that. I love those
ones. You kind of add a little bit of a blur to it,
like you make it seem real. Unfortunately, would wouldn't put a lot into
this one. But I think Nintendo probably will do an event in April,
but it won't be at the size this. It'll be like a mini kind
of is what I'm expecting, and then June they'll have some sort of large
direct that might even show the next system. Yeah. I agree, that's
pretty much what we've been talking about this whole time, and speculating as well.
I just find so much of this funny name of the Mario Galaxy stuff.
Yeah, why why Mario Galaxy one in two? I don't know that's
so. I mean, they already did that, right, and then they
took it away from us. Yeah, maybe that's why any they got to
resell it again double pack. That's a fun strategy on the same system.
Keep releasing and then taking away then releasing double pack. Yeah, it's a
fun way to make money. Yeah, I'd rather than wait for the next
system, take advantage of all the cool little features they could do with that,
and then make Mario Galaxy two look incredible. Yeah, and at least
at the same time as Maria Galaxy three. Yeah. Yeah, Mario.
Would you want a Galaxy three or would you want just a new Mario?
I want a whole new Mario, Just a whole new three D Mario.
You can figure out some little thing like they did with Kappi, which was
kind of cool, you know, transforming a whole other Yeah. I'm ready
for a new gimmick. Yeah. Yeah, i am too. Yeah.
So we're saying fake on that. Yes, yes, I'm I'm going with
faith. Yeah I felt that. I feel that. Okay, so let's
look about something we actually do know. The Internet has got upset about a
lot of things recently. For example, PERSONA three reloaded, re releasing DC
that already existed, and then charging us for it. I don't know how
you feel about that, sat Let's I'd be shocked if it didn't happen.
Yeah, sure, fair, And now we're upset because Thousand Year Doors coming
out, Luigi's Mansion two HD is coming out. These are remakes, remasters
of the old games. So thousand Year Door is a remake. Leisman's two
HD is a remaster. Okay, but they're both sixty dollars. Yes,
they are both the same price. Yeah, that's a lot for both the
remake and a remaster of this quality. I mean feels like well, I
will say the remaster of Leedis Mansion H two HD does feel like more than
it should be because it was on the three DS at forty dollars. Yeah,
and this looks to me like about the same or maybe even a little
less than the effort that went into Metroid Prime. I was about to say
Crime remastered. I always kind of said that was more of a remake,
like a one Fly It remake. Yeah, but even that was what forty
forty Yeah, yep, and it was digital at first, but then they
did a physical at least of forty dollars. Yeah, so why are these
sixty Do we feel like that's a bit much? Yeah, I will say
Luis's Mansion feels like a bit much. I can say with paper, Mario,
I think it's easier for people to justify it because the original one.
If some people just don't want to emulate stuff. I see it all the
time in comments or just online, like hey, that's cool. I don't
really feel like loading up Dolphin, trying to find the RAM or the ISO
and playing around. I just want to buy it and be done. If
you want to do that for a thousand year door. It's one hundred dollars
on the GameCube, that's true, you know, so people are in their
mind, they're like, this is actually cheaper, and it's on the switch,
and it looks better, and it looks better. Yeah, and it's
a it's a core Mario title, which we'd always expect to pay the Nintendo
tax on that. And I wouldn't I wouldn't rule out the idea of them
adding something extra into it, Like I kind of feel like there might be
new content that they haven't said yet. That's true. If they can play
around with that, even if it's as small as adding Funky Kong, they
usually do try and add something. Even that one was ten dollars more than
when it came out on the wind But Luig's Mansion, that's the one where
I looked at I'm like, you probably could have been forty and gotten away
with it. Lui's mansion, I think definitely needs to be a little bit
cheaper than sixty. If you were if you were given the option with the
thousand year door of Nintendo remaking it the way they've done and charging you sixty,
or putting it on some kind of GameCube online service and it's part of
like the fifty dollars tier or whatever, but the more expensive tier and then
the Tenni Switch online. What would you would rather have happened? You mean,
it wouldn't have been the level of effort that it looks like they're probably
just be essentially, I mean, I already pay for the the online,
so I'd rather than just throw it in there and be done with it.
But it again, it depends on how far they take this. I feel
like, if if they show up with some like, let's just say there's
a whole other like part of the map they've developed, and there's new character
like Little Companion and it's a whole new thing maybe after you beat the game.
Even then, I guess I'd prefer that this because yeah, and also
you have to think about this is actually a way and I feel like this
is another reason Nintendo is pricing it this way. I would say, calling
out the community that's been yelling for this thing for so long, but like,
hey, here's your chance. We're gonna make it sixty because you guys
been calling it this whole time. That is true, We've been begging and
pleading for this. It does it is kind of like looking a gift toss
in the mouth, yeah, and be like, hey, but it's too
much now. But if it does well, then if I'm Nintendo, I
might go, maybe people are still okay with that strict turn based strategy.
We' don't do something weird with the next paper Mario. That would be great,
right if it ends up being the best selling paper Mario of recent and
years and it kind of re evaluates the series Nintendo and we get maybe a
thousand year door sequel or something. Yeah, that would be sick actually,
so that that could be a silver lining to it. Yes, Like but
like Luigi's Mansion. I think they looked at Luigi's Mansion three sales that were
like twelve million copies. WHOA, that's actually not bad, it's very good,
right, And they were like, well, it's sixty if we sell
three million of this great who cares? Yeah? No, for sure,
And I mean it's not that much work for them. I guess if they
do take a hit on it. But I don't know. I think with
a thousand year doll you're rights too soon to tell. Maybe there's some extra
stuff crammed in there. And sixty we shouldn't look a gift to us in
the mouth Luigi's mansion. That should be forty. Yeah, I would look
at us. I still feel like it should be forty. My question is
would this would sixty become the norm for them going into Next Generation as their
remaster remake price? The true is sixty technically cheap because it's not seventy.
If we have seventy dollars games now, and Tiers of the Kingdom was seventy,
so we'll like next generation, Well, all these games come out,
the New Mario and New Zelda, a new Animal Crossing, and it's just
seventy, And then we're like, okay, but sixty's cheaper, so it's
fine for the remaster remake. You know you're not wrong. I think that
is the way we will look at it. Interesting, Okay, seventy is
definitely I mean, yeah, next year is going to be fun when everything
goes to seventy, even Nintendo's games. Yeah, I think the sixty price
point would definitely start looking like an affordable price point. You used to pay
fifty for PS two, Xbox Game Q games back in the day, and
went up to sixty and the three sixty generation. And now if a remaster
remake comes out and it's fifty dollars for like a PS five or an xbox
Ers like, yah, it's twenty dollars cheaper, you know, than the
full price game. I have a whole rant about this too, but I'll
get your thoughts on it. I do feel like games in general, even
going up to seventy, are still way cheaper than they used to be back
in the day if you count for inflation. For inflation, games prices have
really only gone down over the years. Well, if you go back and
look at like the people will put up those old like toys, r us
ads and it shows the Super Nintendo or the ten of sixty four system and
then the games. The games are seventy percent of the price of the system.
I know people look at that and just go, oh, well,
the games were more expected well yeah, but then you look at the system
and it's like the games were i mean borderline close to what the system was
one hundred and fifty bucks for a Super Nintendo back then. Crowd trigger was
like one hundred bucks. Yeah, ninety bucks, that's crazy. And game
prices were all over the place back then. Yeah. I will say,
though, we did get legitimate circuit boards in there, and it was the
whole well the game flawed or not, it was there. It wasn't like
here's an access key on a disc. Yeah, there you go. So
yeah, I had that conversation recently on Twitter and other places. But it
is it is sad. I mean, I'm a physical collector, so I
try and buy everything physically. But what are we really buying at this point
when we buy these DVDs, these Blu rays of games, all these cartridges
that don't have the game installed on them, the blue banner on the on
the switch games, they're essentially just a key to download the game online.
Well, really, we're not really buying the game. We don't really have
the game. We have something that allows us to play the game, to
download the game. But physical media has really been gone for a while,
and which just kind of acting like it's not. It's kind of it's a
rarity when you put the disc in and it can play without needing the Internet
connection, you know. And it's even even the latest patch will fix something
they couldn't in development because they were kind of up against it. Let's put
let's push the game out. They just connet the Internet. It's fine.
Have you ever like turned on your Xbox series or even your PS five with
it not connected the internet, like recently, like non intentionally, Try it
one time and just see how baren the entire screen really is so much stuff
pulls from the server, like around your games, it's just an empty blank.
It's kind of kindie like your Xbox series for example. It's like the
one row of icons and nothing else like the Internet, and that's just everything's
still on the Internet. Now. It's gonna be really disappointing in like twenty
years when all these services shut down and we try plugging in our old series
X and plug in a game that hasn't been updated or used on the console
yet, and it's probably just not gonna play. Yeah, It's that's probably
gonna be the case. I feel like, at least for what it's gonna
happen eventually. Like these digital stores are not that old if you think about
it, it was two thousand and ten or twenty eleven that we first started
to buy these games next to their release in stores, So we've been thirteen
or fourteen years since then. It's not long enough to really test the boundaries
of digital ownership. And I feel like ten years from now is probably about
when we'll do that, and that'll be twenty four years since the inception of
it, and it probably will be with an Xbox One or PS four most
likely, but it could be the PS five. We don't know. I'm
not sure what the direction Sony's gonna go. Because they tried to shut down
the Vita, they tried to shut down the PS three, the PSP they
were able to shut down, but who knows them, and Nintendo cut off
three DS and EU. It's it's hard to say. I mean, it's
even happening right now. We can bleed this into our next topic. But
the Stella Blade demo that people had installed on their PlayStation fives that had been
they had been playing, the developers just ripped it off their console, like
it automatically uninstalled off of everybody's console. Yep, what's I didn't know you
could even do that. That's what I heard. A lot of online people
were like, I didn't, I didn't know you could. They could do
it, They could take it away if it's your system was in rest mode,
they were able to do it too. Crazy. Yeah, so it's
just a license key that they revoke, and people then realized that Sony and
with Nintendo it was I think MVG reminded me of this. There was Advanced
Wars one in two for some reason, leaked out on someone switch light early,
like they just got it. They showed it on Twitter. They're like,
look, I have this copy for some reason, let me download it.
Two days later it was gone. They were back. So these companies
can pull games technically, revoke access and if you have your PlayStation five or
your Xbox account, I guess even Nintendo. I haven't heard much about that.
If it gets banned online for whatever reason, accent or not, if
you lose all your your games digital library, it's gone. Yeah, it's
a scary thought. You know, I never really thought about it this way
for a long time. But yeah, when you buy games, especially digitally
even physically, for the most part, you're just buying a license to play
that game. You're not actually buying the game. You don't own the game.
You don't have the game, and ye know they can take it away
from you at any point. No one ever reads the yula. We all
just we all just scroll through it right like, because it makes us scroll
through it half the time. It's so frustrating. The worst ones are where
it makes you scroll all the way to the bottom. But it's like the
painfully slow scroll trying to tell you all this information. You're like, come
on, I don't want to play the game. I don't care. I
will complain about this, lateralize what it means. Have you played? Did
you play the Stellar Blade demo? At it? Unfortunately I wasn't there.
Did you get it? I didn't get it. But I am actually pretty
excited for the game, and not just because of the boobs and the butts.
Okay, is that why you're excited about it now? It's like the
gameplay itself. When they showed it, looked it looked looked pretty cool.
I'm a big fan of hacking slashes and this style of game in general,
and the uh, the character models themselves are an added bonus. I think
for me, I think I'm a little surprised because it's from Shift Up and
I have no idea what they did before this, if anything, But it
seemed like Sony saw something in it and came in and pretty much do you
think they saw picked up exclusivity? May may maybe the main character. Maybe
maybe they were looking at it like, okay, this could fit into our
third person over the shoulder experience that we like to do. Maybe they saw
it as okay, this could be a bit faster than a lot of the
games that we typically put out, where that's more slower, it's more grounded
to reality as where does that sound since they have games with Rowbot dinosaurs in
it? But this looks more like, okay, Sony can come in and
kind of be like the Devil May Cry. You know. It does look
very bain at a very Devil may Cry, which is why I'm so excited
for it, because those are some of my favorite styles of games. But
I mean, visually, this one looks fantastic, and I mean that in
the way the game looks and even this bus fight looks sick. It looks
very eled and ring. Yeah, it does look kind of like a game
we would have in a good way that we would have gotten back on,
like the three sixty PS two days. Yeah, I've seen that. Actually,
it's been referred to as like a classic three sixty era of gaming,
which, by the way, the three sixty era of gaming and that whole
time period is I think my favorite era of gaming that I've personally lived through.
Yeah, I think for me it was the end of the PS two
GameCube Xbox generation and like the first half for me of the three sixty PS
three and we generation, Yeah, because the second half that we kind of
faded a bit. For me, it was kind of like, Okay,
I get the idea of the gimmick of it, that sort of thing,
but it was it was really new and it was awesome. And then the
second half we ill said like Microsoft movie in the direction of the connect and
I just didn't I didn't have those BioShock moments, those mass moments earlier on
that I did a terrible idea. But the second half of that Xbox PS
two GameCube generation was like incredible with the creativity. It was back when game
developers weren't afraid to try things right, Like it kind of in a way
reminds me of like, you know, like ten twenty years ago with movies,
how they would just like try things. You'd have all these wacky ideas
like and Command or like those classic movies that we love. Now no one
tries that anymore because they almost always destined to fail. It's a formula.
They know that by hitting that formula they'll have like they'll know they'll make some
money back. Yeah, well that's it. Now everything is a formula.
So if you want to make a new movie or a big blockbuster movie,
it needs to be like a Marvel movie. It needs to be something that
they know is going to funnel in tons of money with superheroes or whatever.
Or it's a low budget movie that somehow explodes. Yeah. True, it
was like a cult classic, which is the kind of a similar thing that's
happening in the gaming space because you have the low budget indie games that do
those kinds of things and those ideas that end up blowing up. But all
the big budget games now are live service micro transactions, like how can we
squeeze money out with the DLC. But back then, no three sixty days,
you'd have people making whole ass games that were just so much fun,
like Enslaved. It was on my favorite three sixty games. You never hear
anyone talk about it. I don't know if you even know what that is.
I don't remember playing that one. It was so good. It was
Ninja Theory, I'm pretty sure of one of their earlier times, and there
was a game called wet that I really remember. That game reminds me of
Stellar Blade a little bit actually, but yeah, it was just back when
they just won't afraid to try things. Yeah, they were like we had
Ninja Blade. I remember that one. Yeah, people didn't like I thought
it was a fun game. I don't know. There were so many like
hidden gems and random things. I remember one of the last three sixty games
I played before I moved on was the Captain America licensed game Wow, And
that was actually pretty fun, Like it was kind of a hidden gem.
I mean, a lot of the franchises then, like Assassin's Creed, You'd
be Soft just holds their entire company up on that. Now. I know
a lot of stuff came about that. That was Ubisoft's golden era, when
everything they put out really felt quality, like Assassin's Creed. Black Flag was
such a great game. They were making it. They're remaking they are.
Oh, I didn't know that were making it since when I think of last
year, the story broke, so it's we're still a couple years off.
So that's where we're at at. You be soft. They're deciding it's time
to go back and remake the ones that actually did work. Yeah. Well,
by the time it comes out in like twenty twenty five, probably have
twelve years from when it came out. I thought you would try to say,
knowing you'd be soft in the way they delay things. Oh now I
think I think twelve y is. I think they're shooting for twenty next year.
I think is when they're shooting for like I mean, that would be
sick. That was my favorite Assassin's Creed game. It's a good one because
it was essentially a piate game and they took it and made Skull and Bones.
Yeah like that, and it was It's worse than ever. I put
a video about it today. Skullon Bones is worse than Assassin's Creed for in
every way, in every element of the pirrating adventure, it's worse. I
didn't bother with it. I played it for half an hour. Really,
Yeah, that's all I could stomach is skull and bones. It throws you
straight into like, you know, you have one of the biggest ships and
you're in this big battle and then obviously you lose it all. But even
in that big battle, while I was like holding left trigger and just spamming
the right trigger at a fire, like I was playing cool of Duty with
boats, I could tell that if this is where I'm supposed to get back
to, I don't even want this. So whatever whatever I have to do
to get back here, this sucks in itself. So I played it for
a little bit after that, but then I gave up pretty quickly. It's
amazing. Take like the part of Black Flag that made it like legitimately interesting
for us. That's so fun. Spins off. They get money from Singapore
government, I think to make it, and it turns into that's crazy.
You can't walk around the ship. You can't you can't board other ships.
Like in Black Flag you could like let go of the wheel walker on the
ship, grab a rope, sail on to the other ship. Fellowship.
Yeah, that was great. That was just a part of Blackest Pot,
just a tiny pot. And then there was a whole Assassin's Creed game.
It goes around it too. Yep. I don't know where they went wrong.
I'm excited for the remake. I'm very excited. And people say this
is too soon to do it. Eh No, no, no, I
think it'd be cool if, especially if it's like at the like twenty twenty
five, maybe twenty twenty six will probably be to a point where there's like
a PS five pro out there, and I'm sure you'd be self take advantage
of that and the game will look really good. Did you play Valhalla?
No? I did. That was pretty good. I was going through it
and then I realized how long it was going to take to play it,
and I kind of you'd be so fatigued out. Unfortunately, the same thing.
I think uh Jordan and MVG beat it, and I think they told
me it was roughly a seventy to eighty hour that's too long, and I
was like, wow, really, this game just keeps going. I had
it, was having a little fun with it, but yeah, I was
getting the butt up because I liked to try and do everything in the world
and it was too much and I my brain just has a hot My OCD
brain has a hot time. I'm like, I want to do all this
stuff, but it's too much, so I can't and I just give it
you running into that with rebirth right now. I was about to ask you
the same question. No, you know why, because it's perfect. It's
the perfect amount. Every time you get that new section of an open world
area, it probably takes five to ten hours, but it's so much fun
doing all of it, and you can kind of see the end goal,
you know, when you're about to run out of things to be before moving,
because they show you the dots at the bottom. Yeah. Yeah,
and then you get that and it's exciting because you're putting off the next bit
of the main story, and then you finally get that's like your reward,
your little cherry on top of doing everything, and then you go through the
next like slog of like linear to press the main story a bit, because
I'm noticing people are getting a little free with the endgame talk right now online.
Oh really, I'm like, you know, I'm gonna go through this.
I'll come back because where they where you're at now, chapter eleven,
okay, I'm chapter nine, okay, so you're just a little bit.
I'm surprised you haven't finished it. Usually paler through games. Yeah, I
mean it's I think about like the forty five hour mark in it. What
do you think? I like it a lot. I love it. I
do like it quite a bit. Yeah, I gushed over it in my
video today. But I absolutely love every single element of it. There are
some moments in like the main story I've seen where it just feels like they've
dragged it out just a touch, but it's not the first one. I
had that issue with certain areas sewers. There are parts in Shundner Building where
I was like, okay, this, they're still going with this, but
it doesn't. It hasn't overstated. It's welcome with any one spot I agree
to where I felt like, oh okay, wow, that's still going.
It really feels like a fun, whimsical adventure of now I'm here, now
I'm here, now I'm going over here, and it's like all these different
vibes and ideas and concepts I agree in the first one. One of my
biggest complaints was the the crane pot where you and you had to move.
I think I had to do it twice. It was one too many,
so bad, so painful. But I haven't had anything like that in this
game where I'm like, yeah, I didn't really need that, And it
feels so much more open, Yes, so much more open. It's like
a semi open what's it called open z open zone. They seem to think
it's open world. It's definitely open zone. It feels open world, like
you can tell. I mean, you play the game, you can kind
of tell, but it feels open world. It feels like I could go
anywhere, even if some parts are like connected right where you like kind of
teleport from one of the other. Yeah, like the area is much larger
than But I had a revelation last week actually, when I was talking to
Steve who did the podcast with me Pokemon Cast. He said he likes the
open zone more because they really refine each of the areas so you know each
section you're getting like in a very intentional world design. And I never thought
about that, but I do appreciate it because when you do get a whole
world, there's fill of gaps where they need to kind of figure out how
to smash the pieces they want to make together. At least this kind of
cuts out that bull crap. It's just this is the this is it,
and then this is it, and then this is it, and then every
bit is fun to explore it. There was sixteen as well, and the
zone open zone doesn't really bother me. You Like sixteen, Yeah, I
liked it. I did. I did. I know there are people out
there that didn't really like it that much. But I thought the boss fights
were awesome. The boss fight really and that's obviously where like eighty percent of
the money went was Yeah, let's make this boss fight as awesome as possible.
I enjoyed the story. The story. It was game of thronesy.
Yeah it was. It was a very dark, and that's what I've thought
about was seventeen when they never leave that in like five or six years,
if they decided to go. It was very dark and brooding the whole time
through sixteen. I almost wonder if they try to do something maybe to brighten
it up a little bit. I would like that. Like you're playing through
seven Rebirth right now, and it's so fun and positive and light hearted,
but then they still have those moments where it's like, oh, okay,
well yes this is getting serious. Obviously with the you know, the seven
storyline, some of the basically the bominations you fight in the game, and
they're like, it's referencing different parts of several story and it's it's not technically
a happy story, but they have moments where you were like, let's go
to the beach and go on vacation. It's like, oh yeah, and
dress up and be little outfits there you go. But that that's kind of
what I wouldn't mind them taking a more Final Fantasy ten kind of tone where
it was very it was tropical, it was bright at times, but then
it got really dark with the relationship. Seven is like that. They like
nine was like that just very fun, upbeaten goofy and yeah, I think
that's the where Flight Fantasy seven hits its stride. Final Fantasy games hit it
stride. Even fifteen was very upbeaten, goofy and because it was about them
traveling around together brotherhood. So yeah, I hope they go back there.
Sixteen is good though, Yeah, I liked I think seven Rebirth is better,
but I like sixteen. So sixteen was fun. You want to cut
to the yeah, let's do it. This episode isn't sponsored, Nope,
So how are we talking about the Patriot? Patriot so many fun rewards,
including the newest one, which I just posted the behind the scenes for all
of February. Oh my god, have you seen it. It's a behind
the scenes look at every guest we had in the studio, completely narrated by
me. I also edited it and I threw it up there on the Patreon.
You can get that if you want. Actually, I got a ton
of comments on it saying that it was really awesome and it was a nice
look and they got to see the studio a little bit. And that's the
first time you've done that, right, Yeah, like properly, like officially.
Yeah, awesome. I don't want to talk about it now. We
used to film behind the scenes, but then no one would edit them.
Yeah, but now they're happening every single month. And as well as that,
you get bonus episodes after every episode. Today's episode will have a bonus
episode posted only to Patreon. Anything you want to add to it. I
just love that people love this and want to be a part of this more
than they already are. You know, it directly supports it helps so much.
It honestly would not be feasible without the Patreons. Yeah, you can
even sign up for free. Now if you just want to join the Patreon
for free and anything I post there that just just posts, you just give
out. Just come just be a part of it. Join the discord,
come hang out, be a part of it. Give us questions on the
discord. You can ask questions that we answer intren. Oh my god,
so true. Oh my god. All right, that's it. Bye.
A couple of things I forgot to talk about at the top of the show.
I wanted to talk about packs really quickly, but also spawn Cast.
I forgot to plug the whole spawn cast thing. I wanted to give that
a shout out. Every Saturday at eight pm, nine pm, nine pm
PM. I was thinking of Central time, right, don't worry about that.
Yeah, Eastern time. It's on the matter. I'm all Eastern time
now, So nine pm Eastern time on your channel, spawn Wave. You
do the spawncast with who's the usual crew at this point? Now it's it's
MVG, Evan Mystic, Ryan and Josie and then Sean Pops inn RG here
and there. When he's not watching wrestling or basketball. He's not right wrestling
basketball which basketball season will be done in two months. You don't worry abou
them, and your show crushes it. Every time I'm watching live, you
go like three thousand plus people in there, correct me if I'm wrong,
could be more. And you've been doing this how many episodes? It's like
three hundred and sixty or something. It's been a long time. That's a
long time. You have a very passionate audience. Yeah, yeah, we
can go with that. Passionate. Well, what do you want to what
do you go with? I don't know them trying to think of the right
word for you, dodged it. Passion. We'll go with passionate. Passion
is the fun word that I used. I mean, I'll say that your
audience. What can I say now? I'm wondering what passionate? Is a
fun word? Passion. They get a little spicy in there at times.
Yeah, very often. Yeah, seem happy. Do they enjoy the show?
I assume because they tune in every week they do, But they just
always seem to be upset about something. I mean, I guess depends on
the time topics that come up. Really, trying to think like Pokemon is
definitely a divisive one because everyone's saying in the chat, you forgot oj OJ's
on there as well. Play. I want to get Oj in here.
Actually you should. Yeah, I'd love to hear. He's he came over
here for too many games, so I feel like he'd come over here for
no. He definitely think he likes to get him in New York City and
and ras him about Xeno Blade and in general. He should because he could
come over here and he can actually do some filming with the store Antenna store.
Yes, sure he could do a whole business thing for that. We'll
get right off that over here too. But everyone check out spoil cast.
It's uh, it's it was a motivative for me to want to do a
podcast too, oh just because I you know, I just loved to watch
It's fun of him. So the other thing I wanted to talk about is
packs. So next week, next week and next weekend is packs Packs East
in Boston. He looks very pleased about that. I haven't booked my hotel
yet. Uh, well you haven't. What it's I'll book it, dude.
I just booked mine, like we could go in the prices alike.
I know you should book the same one I book. I don't want to
sell it, but it's a Hilton and I get points when I stay at
the Hilton. Uh. So we're all going to Packs next week and we've
already set up and planned to do an episode live from Boston. Wow yeah
at Packs? Like no, So we're gonna be doing it at a studio
nearby that we found. They're all set up to do live streaming. We
have a guest too, I'll keep secret who's gonna come in and do the
episode. So yeah, next week you'll see us live from Packs. Also,
I should probably find the the Dayton time, I'll be doing a signing,
not a panel, but a signing with Bobathon. We're doing a shed
signing. Why are you laughing at that? Just like he was in the
city and didn't call us when like two days ago with a hand phone call.
Yeah, he doesn't care anymore. Secret, Uh at twelve pm noon
on the Saturday, So come find us on the Packs floor twelve pm noon
on the Saturday. Are you doing it at the Screenwave? Boothy? Probably?
Yeah. I had our manager. He reached out to me. He
was like, do you want to do a signing at PAS? And I
was like, yeah, Am I doing it with Bob like I always do?
Or are we separate people now, is what I asked him because I
wasn't sure, and he wrote back Bob already said he wanted to do it
with you really. Oh good, Oh that's sweet. Reunion n Yeah,
reunion for the boys. How was packs? I've only been once. I
went last year and it was a lot of fun. Actually, I didn't
expect it to be so fun. I mean, I don't I don't know
what Nintendo were going to do this year, if anything. Last year that
was also asked, and they ended up bringing the Mario movie Van, which
was pretty cool. We got pictures in front of that. I got the
hat and the hats. Yeah, that was cool. And then they also
had the really cool link tiers of the Kingdom statue with the hand thing that
we're all taking photos in front of. Yeah. Yeah, but that was
it from the Nintendo. But you know, I went around and played a
bunch of indie games and met a lot of cool and fun people that were
bringing their games to the Switch. And I did a whole video interviewing developers
and playing indie games coming to Switch. A lot of them have come out,
a lot of them still haven't come out. Oh made a video about
that. It was kind of like a mash of like upcoming games and vlog
and I did really well, go like half a million views. So I
want to go and do that again. I've already booked a bunch of time
slots to go and play a bunch of indie games that are coming to switch.
Some of them look really cool. There's one that's like a it's like
an indie game, but it's it looks like Super Nintendo Zelder and it's a
dungeon maker. Oh so they've made like a Zelda Delda Maker that's clever and
never been never been a back seast. You should, I should pyble go
next year. It's not too far. I think it's about a five hour
drive for me, probably be about the same for years, or you can
fly for me hours. Really Yeah, well we probably have to get out
of this, which adds that extra depends when you leave. Sure you go
through Connecticut. Do we just kind of go up and skip it all?
Yeah, it's not too late. You can come next week, yeah,
I think next year. Yeah, hopefully Nintendo has something to show up with
new system. Yeah. I mean, I mean, what's your theory on
that? When do you think we're getting the switch to probably March next year.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, just for eight years, so very recently
before we heard about the getting delayed, Before the leak of it getting delayed,
I mean I had a whole theory that it was going to come probably
like late this year, right, I think everybody figured it would come late,
which, yeah, I guess, and May and possibly even Nintendo if
we're also going to believe that this leaked rumor that it got delayed internally is
real. Do you believe all of that? Do you believe it was going
to happen this year and then it's it got delayed till next year? I
do? I think because I think I think the hard ware, the system
would be ready. I don't think that's the issue. I think it is
the game, the games themselves software. He's more time. Yeah, yeah,
that's that's gonna be incredibly important for them. They can't rely on a
third party to come in and provide something. It's just we got to have
a Mario, a Mario Kart, maybe a Zelda. Do you think that's
why Pokemon taking a year off Pokemon? Yeah? May, it might be.
It might be because I mean they'll have the Legends game probably first half
of next year because it's on the switch, and uh, I think it'll
work on the next system yeah, Atrospatle but then new generation maybe next year.
Yeah, and then that'll be big for the new system, So maybe
it'll maybe it'll make Scarlet and Violet run it thirty frames. It'd be incredible
stuff. Yeah, next year if it's fully backwards compact, Yeah, that
would be really cool if we could actually play games like Scarlet and Violet and
not have it. But did you take these we had Mario Day? Did
you take the announcements for those talk about Mario Day, bring up Mario Day?
Did you take those announcements? Though? With the release dates that they
threw out there as like, okay, they're they've basically loaded up the first
half of this year. Does that leave room for their runway to the next
system different announcements because I think some people myself and I was kind of thinking
paper Mario might be July or August. Yeah, later in the everything runs
up into June, and that's nothing. Nothing, that's just the cutoff.
I mean it. It's hard to say because it wouldn't be uncommon for the
lead up in the runway to a new console to be very quiet, but
then they could also be leaving it Cliff for some other announcements or reveals,
because they've been pretty good about being steady this whole time. Well, with
the first Switch, it was October they ran the first trailer for it,
and then it came out in March, so that was like a five month
run almost, I see what you're saying. So it could be show it
in June with a trailer, do some kind of event towards the end of
this year around launch March e three, kind of summer game fest time.
Yeah, because if it's backwards compatible, their software is going to keep selling.
So we so we could theoretically see the new Switch in just a few
months, I think so. I think we could see it in three months.
Wow, released like an announcement. Yeah, just like an announcement a
trailer. They put on a direct, like if they have a direct,
and then towards the end of it they're like, here's the next system for
here's a next generation. Here's just a look at it. Yeah. I
think they'll do the same thing they normally do, like fade out, here's
this, and then I'll be this. They could give us the name for
it. They could give us actors playing around with the system. The name
so bad. Did you see someone someone put out a photo that like they
got an ad from YouTube but Nintendo attach the switch attached? No, that
was the name that was in the survey. Can you bring that up?
Switch attached? It was basically PS five Xbox series, might have been PC
and then it was switch attached. It was the name that YouTube is pitching.
That's horrible. I don't think that's the actual name. I think that's
a placeholder. Somebody within YouTube and made the survey was like, let's just
do attached. And that sounds like an accessory. So I mean if we
would have humor that for a second, switch attached, what would the gimmick
be. You can attach multiple systems together for multiple screens. Mm hmm.
And that's how they can sell four in a household. That's yeah, true.
They could finally lean into like all different types of joy cons. Yeah.
Yeah, it could be a whole You're right, it could be a
whole thing where you get like it's like the switch it or the new system
itself is just this this box that you buy and then stuff just starts attached.
It's pretty different things you get attached to it. It's crazy like that
actually, and it's just magnets. It just snaps on. You don't slide
them or anything. It's just met Yeah, just clips right on. There's
there's magnets just like that, just clicks in. What did you find the
attach That's something I thought about too, is the mechanism to attach the joy
cons just being rails? Like that's something I feel like that would I have
to imagine improve or just kind of go to the next step. You don't
like the rails, I think it feels old almost. I mean, it's
it's easy, but I but magnet's an't gonna that's not gonna hold on,
is it. I don't know. I feel like there's something they can do
other than just slide it in this railing and it clicks. I don't know.
It feels like there could be something better they could clip in or something.
But yeah, I don't know about magnets. That'd be pretty I think
the Reddit post literally just I found it on here, like I have it
on here, but when I tried to put it up, it got removed
really like it just got remote, Like seriously, it's here, but Maxis
tried to pull it up too, and it's going screenshot. Mm hmm.
That's actually funny. How when was this posted a couple of days ago?
What's the chance of that? I don't know they heard us talking, knew
we were coming. Yeah, they got they got word of it and take
it out. We're pulling, We're pulling. The switch attached. That arm
is huge, dude. You're just staring at that arm right now, like
I'm waiting for Mario Day to come up. I look at the announces for
Mario Day because I think I have the there it is. It's w interest
that switch attached though it's at lah. I don't want the computer start chugging.
Yeah, it's already struggling. We are trying to U. I don't
know if I said this already in the episode, but we did try switching
the computer over so it wouldn't chug so much, and then we had more
issues. So give us another week. We're getting there. We're figuring it
out. I'm I need to buy the studio a new PC at this rate.
Daddy. All right, So one of the first things I talked about
is a new Super Mario Brothers movie. What do you think this is because
they were very vague about how they talked about it, Like they didn't necessarily
say it's a direct sequel, it was a new Mario movie in the Mario
universe. They said, yeah, you're right, they were kind of vague
about it. I mean, it's gonna be obviously Mario Luigi doing some other
adventure. I assume they'll bring Dkay along and maybe they. I mean,
that's character to me, that sounds like a sequel to the first Yeah,
it does, which I mean, it very much could be that, But
I just I feel like the wording was a little to the point where it
could be something like a Luigi's Mansion movie. Ooh, I like that,
Like I'm like a not a murder mystery, but like a it's Nintendo,
they do something, you know, more general audience oriented. I like that
idea, though, to go in a in a direction like that that feels
very different from the first movie. It's also kind of creating a cinematic universe.
You're doing something different that's in the same universe, and then maybe you
could do a Donkey Kong movie or do something off the wall, like a
whole another characters movie. Well, I feel like they bring in a character
that they think can then merchandise or build on further outside because the movie yeah
incredibly well one point four billion dollars. Time is going back to theaters here
soon. Oh really, Yeah, they're going to do another run of it,
probably just to you know, push that number up further. But I
feel like with d K they're doing so he is in the movie and none
are doing an expansion for the theme part. Yeah, I'm thinking, Okay,
well, what's the other character you'd bring in that you might try to
build on? Did He Kong could be did Hey Kong could be Yoshi?
Yoshi might do a Yoshi more of a push maybe Yeah, in the movie
for sure, Uh maybe you introduced like uh, I think it'd be cool
if they did a different villain than bows Er. Bowser could still be in
the movie, but maybe they bring in Warrio or Wallowigi or something like that
as Yeah, I was gonna say so if they do, if it is
just a straight sequel movie, which it very much could be, who would
the villain be? I feel like Warrior with that studio because that's the spicable
me studio. Yeah, I feel like they could have a lot of fun
with wa do some really funny stuff. They could be him, and like
Wallowigi is like the duo that just keeps messing up, you know, as
the bad guys. Who would play Warrio in Walloween or even just Warrior,
it just be probably be Chris Pratt with different voices, right, I think
Warrio could be Danny DeVito. Ah, Okay, that would be really funny.
Yeah, they're already making them all Brooklyn, so yeah makes sense.
I don't know about Wallawigi though. Also then if you did, if you
did Danny video, you'd have a Charlie Day and yeah and Danny back together
again. Yeah? What if Walloween was Glenn Hallilton. Literally it's just it's
always sunny. Yeah, it's just always sunny. Cast Taylor Joy with uh
d D. That would be funny. If they did like a like a
weech Jesus, they probably would. So have a Zelda movie coming up,
Mario movie coming up? Yeah, what's the next one? Well, I
mean but those are two different avenues, right, You got the live action
and then you got the animated. So you talking about another animated movie another
live action movie? What studio are we thinking? Like? What are we
what are we talking about. That's a good question, because I kind feel
like Zelda one's gonna be still sort of stylized the Zelda one is, and
I hate to put this energy out there. It's gonna be bad. I
hate to do it. I hate to be a hater, but I I
just I have that gut feeling. A live action a live action video game
movie in general just has such a bad track history, and the people working
behind it don't have a lot of credit in their favor for both good movies
but also just much in general. Have me and Mooto on their side,
don't they? You can help me and moto also helping with the first Mario
Brothers live action. Okay, never has a different time. Yeah, it's
a different time. I mean, I don't want to be a buzz kill,
and Zelda is obviously my favorite things, So I'm not. Well,
that's why you should be more worried about it. I am, because they
can't. They could absolutely ruin the entire thing for you. Well, they
won't ruin the whole thing, but it might make it might look at the
next it might make it look silly. You might look at the next game
and just see that actor in that terrible scene from the movie. All the
time, I feel like it's gonna have first Avatar movie vibes. It's just
it's just I don't know, I just I have that gut feeling. But
I will say this, I also felt that way about the Mario movie.
Like I was a big hater of the Mario movie. I was like,
there's no way this is going to be good. I thought it'd be some
weird live action animated mix, and then I was very wrong, and I'm
very very high. I loved it so good that feeling. Just have that
feeling. Well, I mean these Nintendo movies, I don't go in expecting
Oscar performance production. Don't like, I don't think it's gonna win an Oscar
for example, Right, But if you go there and it's like ninety minutes
and it's just fun, that's fun. Yeah, that's what I's almoking.
Be happy with that. Though Zelda and Franchise seems like they would try to
push it in that dramatic Yeah, it's fashion. It's tough with the medium
because like I kind of see it as like that Game of Thrones, the
sort of Lord of the Rings Witcher vibe of like gritty doc if you're doing
it live action and like you need to do the sword play right, are
they gonna push the Is it gonna be a PG thirteen movie with Nintendo's logo?
And I hope so, because that's what it feels like it needs to
feel like it feels like it needs to be. But like, yeah,
that's another reason why I feel iffy about it, because it will probably end
up being g rated, like really family friendly. But like I've seen,
and we've seen so many times that style be done well but also bad,
Like Game of Thrones nailed it. So if they go in with like a
Game of Thrones budget and mindset and like they do the action right and it's
all like well choreographed and like shot and it's all beautiful and stunning and gorgeous,
great, But as soon as they start taking cuts and doing and budget
cuts and like half assing certain things, that's when it looks really cheap.
Like you had a rent fare with a couple of people in suits and they
like doing their thing, you know what I mean? Like money will be
good. Sony's funding it as well, they're backing it. Yeah, so
I kind of feel like they're gonna throw a lot of money this thing,
But because like I watched the New Lord of the Rings show, I had
a lot of money thrown at it, and even then I was looking at
him like this, I don't know. Something feels kind of like if it
was a they were gonna try to do over the course of like ten episodes,
I'd say, Okay, that's it might be a little tough. But
this seems like something they're gonna do. Probably it's probably a two hour movie,
and I feel like they'll fast track a lot of the early stuff to
get to where it's like Link trying to overcome evil with his master sword.
That's another concern is like what story are they gonna do? Yeah, should
just go traditional? You think it's enough time just a cookie cutter sort of
gets to save the princess and like get a sword, and yeah, you
don't got to reinvent the wheel. So you just like can link to the
past. You got three dungeons, you gets get them all done, you
get the mass sword. They're gonna do dungeons, that's it. I feel
like they'd probably do something he would go to to I don't know, put
together some kind of pen in or something, and they get the Master Sword
and then he wins. It'd be interesting if it was like a Jumanji approach,
like how they redid the Jumanji movies. I kind of I don't know,
like like because that's kind of the feel I feel like for a movie
these days, everything they always has to be some like sidekick or like cast
of crew of characters, and like in the game, it's just link going
around. I feel like they're gonna throw in like a psych or like really
flesh out not navvy or something. I think they're gonna have that out.
There's gonna there's gonna be another person with him, I feeling now, and
then some like animal mascot or like fairy mascot or something with him the whole
time. But that's if it's a PG movie. If it's PG thirteen,
I'm there would be more. I feel. Lord of the Rings, Yeah,
I don't know. They just don't try to fit too much in it,
like they try to do like Majora's mass stuff where he's changing shape and
then they they go into the future or they go and grab stuff from twilet
Princess and they just try to mash it all together in two hours. I
hope they don't do that just squels. Yeah, this wouldn't happen. So
what are the sequels then? Does they they continue that story or do they
do like, Okay, now we'll go to do Sky with Sword. I
like the idea of them just going to different heroes of time in different times.
That would be kind of cool because then you can Infinity War movie.
Yeah, they all come together and you can play around with the different art
styles and stuff. Then that would be fun. That would be really cool.
They should do an animated one, that's win waka. You could do
that. I mean see that that would be actually be a really cool idea
if we just kind of restarted the story in different settings. And yeah,
I like this. I like fun. You can even do one as just
a series, like an animated series, and you pull from that when your
big like a Zeldaus series would have been a better choice. Like maybe I'm
insane for that, but I just think there's more you can do. Budget
wise. It's harder because I have to make ten hour long movies. Yeah,
show, I just feel like you could flesh things out a little bit
more and like do like a witch er approach was trying to cram in a
Zelda story in an hour and a half two hours just feels like it's going
to be a rush adventure. Yeah, because yeah, you gotta think about
it. There's three different usually three different dungeons and then the boss to do
that all in an hour and a half to hours. Well, I also
feel like the story needs more than just like link you have to go save
the Princess like that just feels so like one key. Like even the Mario
movie sort of added in some twists and tones and random locations and characters,
and I don't know what else was in the Mario day thing. I go
to that page. I don't know what's gonna happen. But we had paper
Mario leuesmanched t HD got dated, so we have got those. Those are
June and then May, so those two months, and then we also had
like what was it, Endless Oceans in there. We have Showtime coming,
Showtime No, just like their first half of so they have their first half
set up pretty well. They had just I mean, that was it.
Mostly it was mostly about the movie. Game Boy games, yeah, oh
yeah, Mario game Boy games and Doctor Mario Tennis and then golf and that
was it, right, Yes, and people aren't put enough respect on tennis
and golf. Tennis is game, Okay, not enough respect on those games?
You like them? Yeah, they're full single player RPGs. Oh really,
this is the This is a response when I saw that announcement was like,
oh, yeah, that's it's such a fun I like tennis really.
Yeah, you level up your characters to get stat points. You actually go
around in an overworld and like go on like little quests and stuff to become
the best person at the academy for tennis or man. I hate that the
new and Mario sports games have really tainted all the old ones. Yeah.
That This is where it all started, though, was the idea of mixing
rpg and sports for Nintendo. Where did it start going more towards just the
sport Probably well, the n sixty four version for golf just kind of just
that and have that it was actually just for the handheld, like the Game
Boy Advance also had like single player RPGs for golf and tennis, and then
they kind of got away from that completely. They need to they need to
really re evaluate a lot of things with the with the switch attached. Yeah,
and then tend to attach or whatever it's called they need to go back
to the drawing board, but they need to pull a Ubi self Assassin's Creed
four and we'll give you a little tennis rack control. We could attached to
it. Oh, we did that with the we the whole console. Yeah,
smashing the whole console. Yeah, the we We had the remote tennis
racket, we did. They did attach that to the whole console different times,
different times the switch, oh you're talking about, because they had the
joy Con tennis racket thing too. I still remember when the n X was
revealed and we were like we knew that the joy Con system was coming and
people were drawing up all that fake fana of like what if they had game
Cube ones that could slide on like on one side was like a fishing reel,
on the other side was like a hook thing, and like all these
different ideas and concepts, and then as far as Nintendo went, all they
did this whole time was just different colors of joy Cons on it. No,
well, the third parties do it. Yeah, there was like a
hoary official Nintendo one. They let them do it. But like Nintendo,
they never like tell they didn't do anything. I wonder if they get away
with that. They just do dpad from that. Have you ever really handed
a joy Con or something like single joyicon? No? I mean no,
I love I love the people I play games with. Why would I do
that? I thought that was gonna be a big thing, and I just
don't. I'm sure it isn't in like households with like a couple of young
kids or whatever and they're like sharing a console. I mean, my kids
are just like one joy cons or pro controllers or whatever. But your kids
have you as a dad, that's true. They have a lot of controllers.
Yeah, they have options, that's true. That's true. It never
really controlled well with just the no, No, it sucks. I do
think it happens in some households and like people that can't afford to have more
than a pair of joy Cons, it's nice to have the option there.
Maybe people can let us know in the chat or the comp Yeah, let
us know in the chat. But if they thought it was going to be
more more of an actual thing, you know, it's funny. Actually,
I got to switch Kiosk recently and I have this like thing that I stick
over it. It's like a big display piece and it says and this is
like from the original, like marketing three ways to play, And I even
thought to myself, I had to like look at it. It was like
three ways and it was the handheld, docked, and then tabletop, and
I always forget about tabletop. I'm like, yeah, they really were pushing.
They really were pushing those three unique play styles. But how often have
you ever kicked out that kickstand and played something in the tabletop mode? It's
been a while. I feel like if I flew more or traveled more,
maybe like a plane, Yeah, on a play where I'm not responsible for,
you know, steering the ship or something, and if that was the
case, you have the That was the big thing. They wanted to show
that you pulled the table down on the air with the sky rim on the
flight. Yeah, a lot of polite people on that flight too. They
always show those an ads. Everyone's real happy, and it's like, I
don't know if that's always out, but you'd be able at least fit on
the one tray and play it. But I just that never happened to me,
so I never I tried it on the plane. I tried it on
the plane with the original switch, and every time you'd hit like a little
bit of vibration. It would just and fall down. I would I just
just told the switch. I don't know, it's the same thing. That
was pretty straightforward. We got a light falling down over there that Max is
having a hold on. Everything's fine. I mean, we're at the top
of the show anyway. We've talked about pretty much everything, So anything else
you want to cover, I think that's it. That's it, You're done.
