In spite of in spite of factors. <v Speaker 1>You know, Yeah, we're hanging in there, right. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, hanging in the I've gone through very sad couple <v Speaker 2>of weeks. Not to bring the tone down at the <v Speaker 2>beginning of the show, but it's been of our emotionally <v Speaker 2>fraught a couple of weeks over here, and James Towers <v Speaker 2>and so on the the on the on the other <v Speaker 2>side of it, kind of excited to be hanging out <v Speaker 2>with you guys again and like doing like looking forward <v Speaker 2>to TGAs and seeing my pals in person and you. <v Speaker 1>Know, yeah, we got going through it. We have some <v Speaker 1>like light, you know, some light at the end of <v Speaker 1>the tunnel, right, we get to do some fun stuff still. <v Speaker 2>So well, I think you're about to say we have <v Speaker 2>some light things going on at the game wards and <v Speaker 2>I was like, Jeff, that could not be further from <v Speaker 2>the truth. We have so much going on. <v Speaker 1>Je pretty busy. Yeah, but but we're we definitely have <v Speaker 1>reasons to uh like okay, well things that like can <v Speaker 1>distract us from all this other stuff for sure. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>but it's a uh, you know, like you said, been rough, <v Speaker 1>but uh, whenever we get to do this show, I <v Speaker 1>was feel a little bit better. So you're right, that's nice. Uh, <v Speaker 1>there's some video game news to talk about it at <v Speaker 1>the very least. <v Speaker 2>So there is a lot of video game news to <v Speaker 2>talk about, which is because it feels like there was <v Speaker 2>sort of a bit of a fallow period of like <v Speaker 2>not really munch of beak shit happen. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, we we do the you know, we do the <v Speaker 1>Wednesday show together and uh and for a while there <v Speaker 1>it's like, oh yeah, that's usually when a lot of <v Speaker 1>the news was happening. And then these past like a <v Speaker 1>couple of months, it was I think a lot of <v Speaker 1>these companies were, uh kind of I don't know. It <v Speaker 1>seems like they were taking a break from announcing stuff <v Speaker 1>and having things to talk about. And now does feel <v Speaker 1>like maybe we're back getting into the holidays. Uh, and <v Speaker 1>you know, play Station five pro is here and Nintendo's <v Speaker 1>got to start making moves and uh in election is over, <v Speaker 1>so it feels like this. <v Speaker 2>Xbox is talking about ship. <v Speaker 1>Yeah right, yeah, for Sports is doing interviews again. So yeah, <v Speaker 1>it's that's uh, there are things are happening. <v Speaker 2>So things are happening. <v Speaker 1>We'll get into all that first. Let's explain what we <v Speaker 1>do here though. Most weekdays, I Jeff Grub will help <v Speaker 1>peace your gaming life back together. That includes breaking news <v Speaker 1>and maybe even some of our own original reporting. For <v Speaker 1>all these topics, I'll get the input of a bona <v Speaker 1>fide expert who will make me look smart. If you <v Speaker 1>are watching live on Twitch welcome. You can always listen <v Speaker 1>to the show later on podcast feeds by searching for <v Speaker 1>Game mess Mornings or find the RSSO giant bomb dot com. <v Speaker 1>You can also catch the show later with chapters and <v Speaker 1>timestamps on YouTube. Hello YouTube, All right, we have a <v Speaker 1>lot to get into, so let's start the morning mess <v Speaker 1>with that first story I alluded to. This is from <v Speaker 1>Ethan Gotcha Kotaku. Is Sony teasing a December PlayStation showcase <v Speaker 1>in its latest PS five ad. That's definitely some of <v Speaker 1>the things that some fans are talking about on places <v Speaker 1>like Reddit. Let's read what Ethan wrote here. Sony released <v Speaker 1>a new play has No Limits ad for PlayStation five <v Speaker 1>on Tuesday to mark four years since its twenty twenty <v Speaker 1>launch of the PS five. No one would have thought <v Speaker 1>twice about it, except that fans spotted a seemingly innocent <v Speaker 1>but potentially telling split second reference to a December date. <v Speaker 1>Could Sony have an eleventh hour PlayStation showcase plan to <v Speaker 1>coincide with this thirtieth anniversary. The discovery was shared on <v Speaker 1>Reddit and points to the forty seven second mark. In <v Speaker 1>a u T video that has this ad, a train <v Speaker 1>station schedule appears with the numbers three, twelve and then <v Speaker 1>twenty twenty four. As the mbound column turns into PlayStation symbols, <v Speaker 1>that will be the third of December. They're not March twelfth. <v Speaker 1>The inbound columns turn to the PlayStation symbols. Some fans <v Speaker 1>wonder if it meant a hint at a potential December third, <v Speaker 1>twenty twenty four event, perhaps one last state of play <v Speaker 1>or bigger livestream event pointing to what's ahead for the <v Speaker 1>PS five. It's a reach, but there are a couple <v Speaker 1>of things that make it feel within the realm of possibility. First, <v Speaker 1>commenters have noted that there is precedent for Sony holding <v Speaker 1>December events. Once upon a time, during the PS four generation, <v Speaker 1>it hosted fan oriented PlayStation experience events. Those were fun. <v Speaker 1>I went to a couple. That was a good time. <v Speaker 1>And while those were retired many years ago at this point, <v Speaker 1>Sony did hold a special December State of Play in <v Speaker 1>twenty nineteen to mark the twenty fifth anniversary of PlayStation. <v Speaker 1>It included announcements of Resident Evil three remake, Kingdom Hearts <v Speaker 1>three DLC, and a Ghost of Sushimatise. This December, meanwhile, <v Speaker 1>marks the thirtieth anniversary. So while to reach this is <v Speaker 1>kind of why people are lucy are coming to this, <v Speaker 1>maybe the possibility that this could be happening now, you know, <v Speaker 1>I did look into this, but kind of like we'll <v Speaker 1>get your first like blush of this. Does that sound <v Speaker 1>reasonable or does it sound like maybe people are kind <v Speaker 1>of get some opium going feel. <v Speaker 2>A little hopium. It feels to me like maybe PlayStation <v Speaker 2>I don't know. It feels weird to do it so <v Speaker 2>close to the Game. <v Speaker 1>Awards, right, That is a you know, twenty nineteen is <v Speaker 1>when they're saying, the last time something like this happened, <v Speaker 1>the game words were there, but the Game Awards is <v Speaker 1>bigger than ever, and yeah, sort of a known factor, <v Speaker 1>a much more known factor at this point, where it's like, <v Speaker 1>if you have something to talk about, it's right there <v Speaker 1>and it's going to have just as many views and <v Speaker 1>be able to speak to audience. Is actually beyond what <v Speaker 1>even your PlayStation directs can do. A place that stayed <v Speaker 1>to place, I should say, or PlayStation showcase. Now, when <v Speaker 1>I say PlayStation State of Player showcase, I always forget <v Speaker 1>a lot of interchangeable Yeah, people they yeah, but really <v Speaker 1>the state of plays are the smaller direct like things. <v Speaker 1>And then they've done showcases that are supposed to be <v Speaker 1>in many people's estimation closer to something like the Big <v Speaker 1>E three Blowouts that has all this different stuff in there, <v Speaker 1>but a lot of times it does get used interchangeably. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm trying to think, like what else they could do, <v Speaker 2>I mean thirtieth anniversary, Like they announced that concert thing <v Speaker 2>for next year. We already had like a reveal for <v Speaker 2>Ghost of Yota. <v Speaker 1>I mean, I think it's it's it's worth, it's worth <v Speaker 1>thinking about what else it could because when when I <v Speaker 1>did ask about this, a couple of sources were very <v Speaker 1>close to sure, but not like close to sure that <v Speaker 1>this is not a state of play or or a <v Speaker 1>PlayStation showcase. <v Speaker 2>This feels like the time to do for thirtieth anniversary. <v Speaker 2>This feels like the time to do a celebration something. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 2>Rather yeah, these infographics. This is so many times the <v Speaker 2>cross button has been pressed in the last thirty years, <v Speaker 2>or some ship. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, a series of bigger blog posts, Yeah, something along <v Speaker 1>those lines. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, we're still working on PSVR two promise. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and so yeah, I wouldn't expect to show a showcase, <v Speaker 1>wouldn't expect to stay to play. If those things were happening, <v Speaker 1>these people probably would have heard about it. So yeah, <v Speaker 1>it is. This probably takes the form of we will <v Speaker 1>maybe have some some Twitter announcements, a YouTube video that <v Speaker 1>talks about, you know, the history of PlayStation March March exactly. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>that sounds right to me. You know, they have already <v Speaker 1>celebrated the thirtieth anniversary in some ways with the you know, <v Speaker 1>the PS five special Edition that they sold and things <v Speaker 1>like that, and they had a special controller, the you know, <v Speaker 1>the great paint on the PlayStation five products that I <v Speaker 1>was so excited about and then couldn't get. <v Speaker 2>Oh you tried. <v Speaker 1>I definitely tried. Yeah, yeah I was. I was there <v Speaker 1>and then I like, I got in the queue and <v Speaker 1>the virtual Q thing and it was like, oh, yeah, <v Speaker 1>we're gonna place you in randomly, and it's like, I <v Speaker 1>don't think this is random you that's yeah. So yeah, <v Speaker 1>I would like to see a state of play. I <v Speaker 1>would like to see a showcase from PlayStation. I think <v Speaker 1>a lot of PlayStation five owners are at a point <v Speaker 1>where it's like, okay, yeah, we had We've had a <v Speaker 1>couple of of of like things where they would stop <v Speaker 1>and do a state of play and they announced Ghost <v Speaker 1>of Yokah. That did happen, and that was nice. But <v Speaker 1>it also feels like there's a lot of studios inside <v Speaker 1>of PlayStation who we don't know what they're working on, <v Speaker 1>and they're probably pretty close to being ready to at <v Speaker 1>least show something, right Sony, Santa Monica, things like that. <v Speaker 1>So when do if it's not in December, Lucy, Like, <v Speaker 1>do we get like a showcase earlier next or you know, <v Speaker 1>maybe a stay to Play earlier next year, or maybe <v Speaker 1>do we get something close to an E three style <v Speaker 1>showcase next summer? <v Speaker 2>I wonder. I mean, at this point, PlayStation is desperately <v Speaker 2>needs stuff on the calendar, and I think the best <v Speaker 2>way to do that would be this big, all out showcase, <v Speaker 2>like bring back the E three twenty fifteen style of showcase, <v Speaker 2>that one, the one will forever go down in history. <v Speaker 2>I think PlayStation kind of needs that moment. I think <v Speaker 2>gaming in general needs that moment. Like you've got the <v Speaker 2>launch of the PS five Pro. That's going fine, but <v Speaker 2>for a lot of people like me who are on <v Speaker 2>the fence about getting one, it's like, well, what games? <v Speaker 2>What games am I getting this for? You know, if <v Speaker 2>you are giving me, especially because I guess exactly, oh no, <v Speaker 2>because everything else I'm on PC? <v Speaker 1>Yeah yeah, right, monster I'm looking at Monster Hunter been like, <v Speaker 1>oh yeah, I'm sure it's gonna run better on PS <v Speaker 1>five Pro playing that on PC, thank you? <v Speaker 2>And that's the thing where I'm like, I want to <v Speaker 2>be excited about PlayStation exclusive so I can reinvest in <v Speaker 2>the PlayStation ecosystem. And other than Ghost what we got, <v Speaker 2>what we got for twenty twenty five and beyond, you know, <v Speaker 2>like there's nothing really to be excited about that other <v Speaker 2>than Hey, we know that Santa Monica is working on something. <v Speaker 2>We know that Bend is working on something. We know that, <v Speaker 2>like you know, all the studios that are under the <v Speaker 2>stable are working on something. <v Speaker 1>But what right we have yeah, like Blue Blue Point right, <v Speaker 1>they we've known for a while that they're working on <v Speaker 1>a new IP and it's probably a big single player thing. <v Speaker 1>That's been years since they put out that they did. <v Speaker 2>Shadow Shadow was well, like well, Demon Souls was twenty twenty. <v Speaker 2>Shadow Shadow was twenty like eighteen, I think seventeen. <v Speaker 1>So yeah, that's they probably had something working in parallel <v Speaker 1>alongside Demon Souls. So we're talking like, you know, four <v Speaker 1>or five years of development. So you know, I don't <v Speaker 1>know that. I don't know if that means a game <v Speaker 1>is ready but maybe ready to show here pretty soon. <v Speaker 1>You know. Gorilla, we know that Gorilla actually is busy. <v Speaker 1>Like last that we heard it was busy working on <v Speaker 1>the multiplayer Horizon game. So that's going to probably be <v Speaker 1>in a weird spot because of all the live service <v Speaker 1>problems and uh and the fact that's probably gonna take <v Speaker 1>a long time itself. You know, Housemark that they you know, <v Speaker 1>they'll probably have something new. They'll probably have returnal too <v Speaker 1>to talk about at some point, something along those lines. <v Speaker 2>Uh. <v Speaker 1>You know, Insomniac, we we get what's happening there. And <v Speaker 1>Sony Santa Monica, Corey Barlock's game is you know, supposed <v Speaker 1>to be very deep into the into development. That's another <v Speaker 1>one that feels like they could talk about. Now. I <v Speaker 1>get why they haven't taught like pro made these promises <v Speaker 1>where it's because it's it's we're at a point in <v Speaker 1>game development where these games take so long. That's stopping <v Speaker 1>to make an asset for a revealed trailer for a day, <v Speaker 1>for something to play at a showcase, you know, show <v Speaker 1>for if you show up at something like that, that <v Speaker 1>takes a lot of effort and resources away from the <v Speaker 1>main project. And so wait until you're really ready and <v Speaker 1>then just have something that is easier to produce at <v Speaker 1>that point, because you have a game that is mostly finished, <v Speaker 1>it seems like that's the strategy that Sony is going <v Speaker 1>with at the moment. I get that, and I think <v Speaker 1>that's probably the right choice. But you know, people, I think, <v Speaker 1>even despite Ghost of Yota getting announced, feeling a little <v Speaker 1>bit antsy about the state of PlayStation first Party, especially <v Speaker 1>coming off of Concord and all the promises of what <v Speaker 1>was going to happen with live service. It's like, is <v Speaker 1>the reason that so many of these studios that people <v Speaker 1>have come to rely on to deliver these massive cinematic <v Speaker 1>experiences is because they got caught up in this distraction <v Speaker 1>that turned out to be live service games. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. I mean, who's to say that could be a <v Speaker 2>multiple council project because what is it, like Sony Green <v Speaker 2>at twelve or something of them and then get to. <v Speaker 1>The number bloomed up to twelve at some point, yeah, <v Speaker 1>and then they's definitely not there anymore. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, yeah, And so I don't know. But also, you know, <v Speaker 2>we talk about this all the time. Games take longer <v Speaker 2>to make them more expensive than ever. The team sizes <v Speaker 2>are out of control, right, Yeah, I'm just I'm just <v Speaker 2>like this this generation has been so so weird. For <v Speaker 2>all the hype that we had going into this generation. <v Speaker 2>I don't think we were really. I mean, I think <v Speaker 2>Sean Layden was, but like, I don't think we were <v Speaker 2>as consumers prepared for just the gap between releases in <v Speaker 2>such a way like there are always, of course, amazing <v Speaker 2>games coming out every single day. Steam is absolutely full <v Speaker 2>of them, but like those big tentpole releases, Yeah don't. <v Speaker 2>I don't think we were because like and also obviously <v Speaker 2>Covid impacted a lot. So yeah, this has just been <v Speaker 2>a very weird generation and like I'm hoping for the <v Speaker 2>latter half of it we sort of get back on <v Speaker 2>track and have those big games to justify having a machine, <v Speaker 2>but to enjoy on our little boxes underneath our TVs. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, it's it is strange, just like look at the <v Speaker 1>trajectory of it all of uh, you know PS three <v Speaker 1>what excuse me? We got several Uncharted games from Naughty Dog, <v Speaker 1>and then Last of Us, right, and then on PS <v Speaker 1>four we got Uncharted four and Last Us Part two <v Speaker 1>and then some you know, relatively big expansions for games <v Speaker 1>like that. Yeah. Yeah, and then and then this generation <v Speaker 1>like for like it was like just sticking a Naughty Dog. <v Speaker 1>It was like nothing original so far, and we might <v Speaker 1>get to the end of the generation, maybe get one <v Speaker 1>thing from them and uh that level of output. While <v Speaker 1>it's like, Okay, we get it, the games are getting bigger, <v Speaker 1>you're right, we I don't think we were mentally prepared <v Speaker 1>for the like it would be that drastic, that fast <v Speaker 1>from one generation to the next. We were getting such <v Speaker 1>a reduced return on the investment we were making out <v Speaker 1>the console from these studios that just you know, two <v Speaker 1>generations ago, we're producing three to five games in one <v Speaker 1>generation and three games in one franchise on in one generation. <v Speaker 1>And it's like that felt like the sweet spot. And <v Speaker 1>because games have gotten so big and require so many people, <v Speaker 1>now that's just impossible. But it's okay, how do we <v Speaker 1>return to that a little bit? And you know, I <v Speaker 1>think some studios Insomniac have clearly been able to make <v Speaker 1>that work for the most part, but it's not been <v Speaker 1>a thing for everybody. All right, let's keep moving here, <v Speaker 1>Just a quick PSA. Sony is ending adapter that makes <v Speaker 1>PSVR work on PS five. This is from Andy Robinson <v Speaker 1>at VGC. Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that it will <v Speaker 1>soon stop supplying a PlayStation five adapter that allows the <v Speaker 1>original PlayStation VR headset to work on the console. In <v Speaker 1>order for PS five owners to get the original PSVR <v Speaker 1>headset to work on the console, they need to request <v Speaker 1>a free adapter for the PlayStation camera, which is the <v Speaker 1>only method of support since PS five's HD camera does <v Speaker 1>not support the old headset. I have one of these things. <v Speaker 1>I might have to request another on because I have <v Speaker 1>no idea where it is. And there's just a couple <v Speaker 1>of PSVR games that I want to replay, but sometime <v Speaker 1>like I never played and I always think about going back. <v Speaker 1>There's this one where you hold the PlayStation dual Shock <v Speaker 1>for whatever it is, and you can see it in <v Speaker 1>the game, but as you press the buttons, it's like <v Speaker 1>it or actually what you see is like a handcuffs <v Speaker 1>wrapped around you, and as you press the buttons, you <v Speaker 1>have different interactions with the handcuffs that are on you, <v Speaker 1>and it's like you can try to figure out ways <v Speaker 1>to release your hands from this contraption. And I'm like, <v Speaker 1>I always wanted to play that and I never did, <v Speaker 1>so I'm like, I want to make this happen, but <v Speaker 1>I don't. I'm not taking this as a larger sign, <v Speaker 1>Lucy that Sony is leaving behind VR in general. But <v Speaker 1>this is also like the kind of thing where it's like, yeah, <v Speaker 1>this was going to happen eventually. And also PSVR two <v Speaker 1>is not some major pillar for Sony at the moment, right. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean it a suddenly doesn't feel that way. <v Speaker 2>I might be risk remembering, but I don't remember the <v Speaker 2>last time like we had like a big showcase that <v Speaker 2>featured PSVR two. Those obviously the closure of the London <v Speaker 2>studio V are in general kind of a weird, weird spot. <v Speaker 2>METSA is the only real uh posting in the game <v Speaker 2>at the moment, at least, I mean in recent that's <v Speaker 2>you know, bias, I'm recency biased with Batman. <v Speaker 1>But like, but I mean like Apple did uh you <v Speaker 1>know the the what I forget the heads it's even <v Speaker 1>called now and that thing. That thing's done? <v Speaker 2>But did they yeah is it? Is it done done? <v Speaker 2>Did they finish with that? <v Speaker 1>I mean it sounds like so like Eric Apple was, yeah, <v Speaker 1>it sounds done done. Yeah, I think so. Yeah. <v Speaker 2>I mean, like you can't charge three thousand thank you, <v Speaker 2>Dan Vision, Yeah, it can sound like three thousand dollars <v Speaker 2>for a bloody headset. And then wonder why no one <v Speaker 2>buys it. <v Speaker 1>Yep, it's clearly like it was just like h and <v Speaker 1>it doesn't sound like they're going to necessarily followed up <v Speaker 1>quickly with something that is more consumer friendly in terms <v Speaker 1>of price. So yeah, yeah, but real quick, doctor Ryan, <v Speaker 1>thank you. The game I was talking about was called Static, <v Speaker 1>he says it rules. I tried it at like a <v Speaker 1>I demoed it at some event, and I was always <v Speaker 1>meant to play it. I thought the developers were very <v Speaker 1>had something very cool, so maybe I'll get that up <v Speaker 1>and running. We've been we keep talking about doing a <v Speaker 1>new rodeo, and I would like to break that out. <v Speaker 1>I never finished Astro for VR Astro's Escape or whatever <v Speaker 1>it's called. <v Speaker 2>Did you ever play the Resident Evil seven VR demo? <v Speaker 2>I'm I'm a coward, No one tell him? Please play it. <v Speaker 1>It's that sounds like literally the rescue Mission. Thank you. <v Speaker 1>That sounds like literally the scariest thing in the world. <v Speaker 2>I would be, well, it's just because when you said <v Speaker 2>that you were handcuffed. It's what reminded me. <v Speaker 1>Oh okay, so that's great. That's when that's what I <v Speaker 1>would want to have happen in that situation. I should <v Speaker 1>I should do that. I know people swear by Resident <v Speaker 1>Evil seven and VR. I remember Martin McDonald over at <v Speaker 1>eighty four talking about it and being like, I would <v Speaker 1>play it, turn off all the lights and it would <v Speaker 1>be nighttime and playing out like that just sounds petrifying <v Speaker 1>to me. <v Speaker 2>John John Luke played the whole thing in VR. But no, <v Speaker 2>this is this was I think a standalone demo. I <v Speaker 2>think it was called it was it Kitchen one. I <v Speaker 2>can't remember what it was called, but I remember we <v Speaker 2>had a guy who used to work with us. He <v Speaker 2>went and like tam filmed him and he basically just <v Speaker 2>went like the. <v Speaker 1>Whole time, would I'll put it? I should put on <v Speaker 1>a heart monitor and do that, and that. <v Speaker 2>Oh my god, you should, or even just like an <v Speaker 2>Apple Watch if you want. I'm I'm like heaving my <v Speaker 2>way through Batman because I have a bad VR tolerance. <v Speaker 1>But you're still trying to do it though. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I'm doing like ten minutes ago. So I stopped <v Speaker 2>before I get like, right, I get a little bit uneven, <v Speaker 2>but then. <v Speaker 1>It's worth it because you're having fun with the game. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, it's really good. Yeah, it's really good. <v Speaker 1>That's That's one of the things we want to do <v Speaker 1>in the far adio. <v Speaker 2>I'm gonna it's like it's a fucking Batman game. It's <v Speaker 2>like they've they nailed it. <v Speaker 1>I'm gonna maybe we can fit it in sometime this <v Speaker 1>week because I want to get in the Batman costume <v Speaker 1>and play it. <v Speaker 2>I think you showed. Yeah, it's just and it's like <v Speaker 2>my first experience other than like the only thing I <v Speaker 2>can plain VRS Beat Saber, So it's nice to. <v Speaker 1>Sure, Yeah, that be Saper's very good though. All right, <v Speaker 1>let's kind of in the sony section here. Secret Level <v Speaker 1>creator says he hopes the Concord episode will show the <v Speaker 1>potential the story had. This is from Chris Scullion at VGC, <v Speaker 1>the creator of Prime Videos. Upcoming video game anthology, Secret Level, <v Speaker 1>says he hopes the Concord episode will show the potential <v Speaker 1>that the game had. Secret Level, which was announced during <v Speaker 1>Games Comm's opening Night Live presentation this year, is a <v Speaker 1>new adult animated anthology series featuring original stories set within <v Speaker 1>worlds of various video game franchises. There are fifteen episodes <v Speaker 1>in total, including stories set in the worlds of such <v Speaker 1>video games as Pac Man, Armored Core, Mega Man, Splunky, <v Speaker 1>The Outer Worlds Two, Seafu, Unreal Tournament, and Exodus Now. <v Speaker 1>In an interview with Rolling Stone, series creator Tim Miller <v Speaker 1>said there were never any plans to remove the Concord <v Speaker 1>episode following the game's disastrous launch and Sony's decision to <v Speaker 1>remove it from sale after just eleven days. Miller, who <v Speaker 1>directed Deadpool and Terminator, the Dark Fate, and Love Death <v Speaker 1>and Robots, said that during the course of the three <v Speaker 1>years he spent working on the series, he enjoyed a <v Speaker 1>healthy relationship with the team at Concord developer Firewalk and <v Speaker 1>feels bad that their efforts ended badly. He said, basically <v Speaker 1>goes on just like I said. They were very nice to <v Speaker 1>work with and he just wants to do right by them. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. Yeah, sorry, I just had to google which one <v Speaker 2>was Terminate A Dark Fate? <v Speaker 1>Yeah? Which which one? Is that one? <v Speaker 2>The bad one, I mean, the really bad one. It <v Speaker 2>is the one with the twenty nineteen the one. <v Speaker 1>With not Christian bed Right, No. <v Speaker 2>Sarah Khana comes back, has the weird deep faked ed furlong. <v Speaker 1>Oh right, jesus, I listen. I think he did fine <v Speaker 1>on Deadpool, but uh look, I think Secret looks good. <v Speaker 1>I think it looks very interesting. I will I will <v Speaker 1>watch excuse me, I'll watch some of this. I don't <v Speaker 1>know if I'll watch all fifteen episodes. I don't even <v Speaker 1>know if i'll watch the Concord. One part of me <v Speaker 1>feels more of the curious to watch that, so I <v Speaker 1>probably will. But but yeah, I mean, this what choice <v Speaker 1>they have. They made this episode, they're not gonna not <v Speaker 1>air it and like do right by the people that <v Speaker 1>worked on the television show. So yeah, I'm do you <v Speaker 1>think we get like on the other side of this, <v Speaker 1>and maybe maybe not like right away, but maybe a <v Speaker 1>few years removed, and people feel like, man, I wish <v Speaker 1>I wish we would have like given Concord a chance, <v Speaker 1>Like people are gonna that could become a thing. <v Speaker 2>People say, right, there'll be a YouTube video essay, Yeah, <v Speaker 2>given Concorde a second chance, or like, yeah, the decline <v Speaker 2>of Concorde or something. I mean, I don't know, like <v Speaker 2>maybe with the rose tinted goggles on it, and it's like, <v Speaker 2>I don't I just don't think Conclode's coming back like <v Speaker 2>Firewalk has gone on that. <v Speaker 1>I don't know. <v Speaker 2>I really I really don't see how much impact secret <v Speaker 2>level can have on reigniting and bringing. <v Speaker 1>That right good one. <v Speaker 2>However, I think I think it is I think it's <v Speaker 2>good that they are still airing it, and I think <v Speaker 2>it's yeah, like you said, it's less like this is <v Speaker 2>what you could have had. It's more just like, hey, <v Speaker 2>here's something that we thought was really cool, multiple people <v Speaker 2>worked for multiple years on. You should still be able <v Speaker 2>to watch it, because yeah, like that what was it <v Speaker 2>the Coyote versus Acme movie that Warner Brothers just shelved, <v Speaker 2>and like back Girl About Woman, which one which I think, yeah, yeah, <v Speaker 2>And so I would rather we got the chance to <v Speaker 2>watch something rather than it just like live in a <v Speaker 2>Vault where. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, exactly. It's like you know this, these these episodes <v Speaker 1>were never going to go out to the theater, so <v Speaker 1>it was never like this considered like the you know, <v Speaker 1>box office versus a tax break if we just put <v Speaker 1>it on a shelf somewhere. But yeah, maybe they there's <v Speaker 1>a chance. It's like, oh that would be weird. We <v Speaker 1>don't want to be associated with failure. And it's like, <v Speaker 1>I'm glad they're not going that route. Yeah, I will <v Speaker 1>show up at least for the first episode, and then <v Speaker 1>I'll probably like watch the Mega Man stuff and things <v Speaker 1>that are that might be appeal to me. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean, I don't know. I just it depends <v Speaker 2>on what they do with my I guess, like, I'm <v Speaker 2>not really interested in Hacman, but I'll watch it. Maybe <v Speaker 2>we'll do something cool with him. <v Speaker 1>All Right, Abini going going to take a quick break. <v Speaker 1>When we come back. Stellar Blade's coming to PC. Nintendo <v Speaker 1>talked about more two D Zelda. We'll talk about all <v Speaker 1>that after this. I'm all right, thanks for hanging with us. <v Speaker 1>Let's get back into it. Stellar Blade is coming to <v Speaker 1>PC in twenty twenty five. This is from Sal Ramano <v Speaker 1>at Gamatsu. Shift Up expects to release a PC version <v Speaker 1>of Stellar Blade in twenty twenty five, the company said, <v Speaker 1>and it's Q three twenty twenty four earnings report. We're <v Speaker 1>aiming for twenty two, tenty five releafs. Shift Up said <v Speaker 1>in response to a question about when a PC version <v Speaker 1>of Stellar Blade will come out. Given recent trends like <v Speaker 1>Steam's growing presence in the Triple A games market and <v Speaker 1>the global success of Blackmith Wukong, we are expecting the <v Speaker 1>PC version to perform even better than the console version. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>its growing. <v Speaker 2>Oh, it seems growing presents in the Triple A games <v Speaker 2>markt Hi. <v Speaker 1>That's a weird one. Huh. All right, Like finally Steam's <v Speaker 1>living up to the name of Stellar Blade for us, <v Speaker 1>Okay whatever, Uh, Stellar Blade is the it came and <v Speaker 1>it went a little bit. I think they're definitely made <v Speaker 1>some of a splash. It did not make a Blackmith <v Speaker 1>Wukong style splash that was so much bigger than that. Actually, <v Speaker 1>but I think Stellar Blade could do very well on PC. <v Speaker 1>Are people still going to care when it comes to <v Speaker 1>PC in twenty twenty five? <v Speaker 2>Will it have mult support? <v Speaker 1>Okay? So yes, So you're suggesting that the hornies out there. <v Speaker 2>Will well, No, I think again, it'll like it'll be <v Speaker 2>one of those games where it just yeah, like people <v Speaker 2>will have heard word of mouth for it and just <v Speaker 2>yeah and just and get it. Like, I think you'll <v Speaker 2>probably do very very well on PC. <v Speaker 1>I agree. I think it's gonna I won't match Blackmith <v Speaker 1>bookong numbers, but it'll do very well. Uh and uh yeah. <v Speaker 1>I started on PS five. I enjoyed it as an <v Speaker 1>action game. I didn't play too much of it, and <v Speaker 1>now I'm at the point where it's like I think <v Speaker 1>I will just wait for it to be on PC <v Speaker 1>and I'll play it there, played on the Steam Deck. <v Speaker 1>Hopefully it runs well on that and that that would <v Speaker 1>be ideal. <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, that'd be good. Well are you wanting to <v Speaker 2>play that in public? Though? <v Speaker 1>Well? That can? I have dark corners in my home <v Speaker 1>where I can play it. So yeah, like, what are <v Speaker 1>you saying that I could take my shame and not <v Speaker 1>be seen by the world. <v Speaker 2>That's all I mean, the shame cupboard. <v Speaker 1>Yes, the shame shame coverard. Sorry, Jeff Grubb lives. That's <v Speaker 1>for sure, all right. Nintendo devs still want to make <v Speaker 1>more too D zeldas. This is from Ethan Gotch at Kotaku. Sorry, <v Speaker 1>Dan Sley. I stayed in the dark corners of Greb's <v Speaker 1>home home. It's nice there. Yeah, I have nice dark corners. <v Speaker 1>Let's be clear, all right, Ethan writes. Despite the phenomenal <v Speaker 1>success of both The Legend of Zelda, Breath of the <v Speaker 1>Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, developers at Nintendo still <v Speaker 1>have a special love for the two D style games <v Speaker 1>from the series's past. In fact, this year's top down <v Speaker 1>Zelda Echoes of Wisdom may have convinced them that there <v Speaker 1>are still new ideas worth exploring in future two D <v Speaker 1>Zelda games. Nintendo producer ig alan Numa helped oversee Zelda <v Speaker 1>Echoes of Wisdom's development in partnership with outside studio Grezo. <v Speaker 1>He recently told the BBC that it can feel impossible <v Speaker 1>to do anything new with the two D Zelda format, <v Speaker 1>but they ultimately found a way in the twenty twenty <v Speaker 1>four spin off about Zelda cloning objects to solve puzzles, <v Speaker 1>and so this game made me realize that there's still <v Speaker 1>a lot of possibility for these top down Zelda games <v Speaker 1>as well. Alanuma said. While nothing is set in stone, <v Speaker 1>it sounds like the team hopes they can continue a <v Speaker 1>dual approach to developing Zelda games in the future and <v Speaker 1>then quote continues and so we will also have those <v Speaker 1>dynamic three D Zeldas as well, he told the BBC. <v Speaker 1>But in addition to that, we're also hoping that we <v Speaker 1>can continue with these two D top down Zeldas. Lucy, <v Speaker 1>this is exactly the kind of thing I want to <v Speaker 1>hear as someone that always enjoyed having you know, Nintendo <v Speaker 1>had their home console and their portable console, and this <v Speaker 1>gave them multiple avenues to be like, here's the big <v Speaker 1>game and then here's a smaller game for thirty to <v Speaker 1>forty dollars. Now, that's not the way it works now, <v Speaker 1>it is. Hey, here's Echoes of Wisdom, and that's also <v Speaker 1>sixty dollars. But that is personally something I'm willing to <v Speaker 1>accept if it means we keep getting these sort of <v Speaker 1>different tiers of games enfranchises going forward. And I wish <v Speaker 1>it's something that you know, we talked about Sony and <v Speaker 1>we you know, I look over at Microsoft as well, <v Speaker 1>and a lot of other publishers. I kind of wish <v Speaker 1>they could do this as well. Of yes, you're going <v Speaker 1>to have your big games that you want to sell <v Speaker 1>north of five million and in Nintendo's case of Zelda, <v Speaker 1>north of twenty five million copies. But let's just kind <v Speaker 1>of keep things interesting and spice things up every couple <v Speaker 1>of years with something smaller, something that it's supposed to <v Speaker 1>be contained, supposed to look smaller two D. It looks <v Speaker 1>cheaper and that, and looks like it was probably much <v Speaker 1>more affordable to make, and yet there's still something to it. <v Speaker 1>You put a lot of effort into it, and it <v Speaker 1>can live side by side with those bigger games. I <v Speaker 1>really appreciate this. <v Speaker 2>How about you, me too. I think Nintendo's you know, <v Speaker 2>just it has such an insanely huge install base, and <v Speaker 2>like they know that they have all of those pockets <v Speaker 2>of fans who want something a little different, who will <v Speaker 2>come out and will buy those games. And I think <v Speaker 2>it's really great that they're still supporting them. Like, say <v Speaker 2>what we want about Nintendo and the community and everything, but <v Speaker 2>when it comes to games, as long as it's but <v Speaker 2>the fun factor, they will you know, that will make it. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, that's right. And it's a you know, this is <v Speaker 1>always why Sony struggled when it had its handheld. It <v Speaker 1>tried to like have the console games just on handheld, <v Speaker 1>so you know, here, here's a uncharted Golden abys or <v Speaker 1>whatever it was called. And yeah, and it's like some <v Speaker 1>people liked it, but it's like it always felt like, hey, <v Speaker 1>this was made by a team. <v Speaker 2>It feels like a compromise. It feels like the compromise <v Speaker 2>version of the game that you want. And that's the <v Speaker 2>problem with putting a lot of third party on Switch, <v Speaker 2>because again it's the worst way to play the game <v Speaker 2>because of technical limitations. However, when you make something for <v Speaker 2>that console specifically that just like works and works with <v Speaker 2>the uh the key what do you call it? Like <v Speaker 2>the only had one coffee? Like the key features of <v Speaker 2>the handheld constantly you're designing it for it is going <v Speaker 2>to be a better experience for everyone, especially when it's <v Speaker 2>full of nostalgia. Jelly Bean, What is going on here? <v Speaker 1>Jelly bean? Because I can hear it. That's oh dude, <v Speaker 1>you hear yeah, yeah, normally you can't. Normally are hard <v Speaker 1>to hear on microphones, but jelly Bean's just right there. <v Speaker 1>Hey kitty hello, kitty cat. Ye love cats. Yeah, I <v Speaker 1>am glad to hear them. Be like, hey, we two <v Speaker 1>dzeld from Groso work great. We want to do more <v Speaker 1>of that. <v Speaker 2>I forget about you. <v Speaker 1>I want yes, and I want to make sure that <v Speaker 1>we like like they did that two d Zelda METROI <v Speaker 1>dread not too long ago. It's like, let's just keep <v Speaker 1>making more of those. Uh and I pardon me, hopes. <v Speaker 1>It's like, okay, so you're doing this with franchises in <v Speaker 1>which you do have the big three D games as well. <v Speaker 1>Is that where this is going to happen or is <v Speaker 1>there a possibility that, like some franchises that maybe you <v Speaker 1>think don't make sense to spend major money on to <v Speaker 1>make a big, new three D blockbuster version of could <v Speaker 1>we just get the smaller two D? Like, could there <v Speaker 1>be a new Fox? Yeah? Right? Could there? Yeah? Star Fox? <v Speaker 1>That just looks like it's a N sixty four sequel <v Speaker 1>or something like that, or a punch Out game where <v Speaker 1>it's like, you know, punch Out can only be so big. <v Speaker 1>I don't want like some cinematic story mode in there <v Speaker 1>to make it feel bigger or whatever. And listen, I <v Speaker 1>thought that we won was very good. Next Level did <v Speaker 1>excellent work on there with the animation, but it doesn't <v Speaker 1>need to be much more than that. Could we just <v Speaker 1>get that again? And you sort of position that as <v Speaker 1>here's the scrappy little punch Out sequel. I hope they <v Speaker 1>can get to that point, but I think we've seen <v Speaker 1>up to this point it's it's very difficult to allocate <v Speaker 1>those resources to across the board to all these other franchises. <v Speaker 1>They are kind of picking and choosing their battles, and <v Speaker 1>that's true across this industry. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, and I think you know, they have a real <v Speaker 2>embarrassment of riches when it comes to franchises that they <v Speaker 2>can pick from and like Nintendo, if you look at <v Speaker 2>Super Mario Brothers, wonder you know the way that they <v Speaker 2>approach making that game, like just letting everyone just like <v Speaker 2>throw ideas out and sorry to foster new and younger talent, <v Speaker 2>generations of talent. Yeah, Like you've got to wonder, like <v Speaker 2>there'll be some upstart at Nintendo who goes, hey, remember <v Speaker 2>that franchise that we forgot. I've got an idea, and <v Speaker 2>I hope that Nintendo's in a place where they would <v Speaker 2>again foster and encourage that kind of stuff. <v Speaker 1>Yep. And there was definitely talk in one of the <v Speaker 1>recent financial parts of hey, we are looking to work <v Speaker 1>with more smaller third party studios to expand our you know, <v Speaker 1>expand the people that work with our IP And I <v Speaker 1>don't know if that's what that's actually gonna end up <v Speaker 1>looking like, but I hope that can be more stuff <v Speaker 1>like what Grezo is doing with Zelda. All right, that <v Speaker 1>is is that what I he That's what I have <v Speaker 1>from Nintendo. So then let's get to these Xbox stories. <v Speaker 1>Xbox is building a handheld, but it's very likely years away, <v Speaker 1>says Boss. This is from Andy Robinson at VGC Xbox <v Speaker 1>Boss Phil Spencer has confirmed that Microsoft is working on <v Speaker 1>a handheld gaming prototype, but claimed that any potential device <v Speaker 1>is still years away. Microsoft's gaming CEO has repeatedly hinted <v Speaker 1>that it could create its own steam Deck style Xbox device, <v Speaker 1>and in a new interview with Bloomberg, the execs said <v Speaker 1>that the expectation is that is that we would do <v Speaker 1>something in the category, saying that like the expectation within <v Speaker 1>Microsoft is that they would do something. Microsoft is working <v Speaker 1>on prototypes and considering what it might do. Spencer confirmed, <v Speaker 1>and he's asking his hardware team to analyze the market <v Speaker 1>and develop its vision based on what it learns. Any <v Speaker 1>device is a few years out, he said. In the <v Speaker 1>near term, Xbox will focus on making its apps work <v Speaker 1>better on existing portable devices and partnering with hardware manufacturers <v Speaker 1>to make sure their products sink. He added, I think yes, <v Speaker 1>in the meantime, if you could just make Windows better <v Speaker 1>on handheld stop. That is always going to be my <v Speaker 1>hand up with using stuff like the Roger ally, which <v Speaker 1>I always say, once you're in the game, it's great. <v Speaker 1>I like the spies using Windows on that thing, But it's. <v Speaker 2>When is They said that stem Os is coming to <v Speaker 2>the Roger. Yeah, like cannot cannot be sooner, Like I'm <v Speaker 2>dying for that. <v Speaker 1>But in the meantime, it's I think what what's happening here, Lucy, <v Speaker 1>is that they are trying to make sure that they <v Speaker 1>get everything aligned with like what the next Xbox could be, <v Speaker 1>with what the hardware strategy, GET strategy is going to be. <v Speaker 1>Because right now, as they're standing here, I think it's <v Speaker 1>very easy for people to go, hey, just make just <v Speaker 1>take the Xbox one, CERRU six Xbox Series S and <v Speaker 1>put that in a handheld, and that is probably not <v Speaker 1>viable even in the next two ish years three iss <v Speaker 1>years to shrink down that X eighty six system on <v Speaker 1>a chip and put it in a handheld, make it <v Speaker 1>cost effective, and make a battery that can run for <v Speaker 1>longer than a half an hour. So we have heard, <v Speaker 1>like you know, they through those leaked documents as part <v Speaker 1>of the acquisition of Activision, that they were looking at <v Speaker 1>the potential of using something like ARM processors, which is <v Speaker 1>what we have in phones and you know iPhones, and <v Speaker 1>now Apple switched to it for Apple Silicon, a silicon <v Speaker 1>where it's like all the M chips are all ARM <v Speaker 1>based processors, and that stuff is is much more energy efficient, <v Speaker 1>and it's much and it could be just as powerful, <v Speaker 1>if not even more powerful. Now, So the problem there <v Speaker 1>is that Microsoft is true to putting out games that <v Speaker 1>run on x eighty six architecture, which is like basically <v Speaker 1>just PC architecture PC architecture, and you have your library <v Speaker 1>of games. They have several services that just run on <v Speaker 1>this stuff. So they're probably like, can we make a <v Speaker 1>shift to ARM or do we just wait until x <v Speaker 1>eighty six is more efficient, wait for Intel to kind <v Speaker 1>of you not Intel, but AMD, well, until NAMD in <v Speaker 1>conjunction with one another, to get their shit together so <v Speaker 1>that you know that stuff is much more energy efficient, <v Speaker 1>and then just kind of hope for the best. At <v Speaker 1>that point. I think that that their timeline is too <v Speaker 1>is probably too ambitious. I know he talks about year <v Speaker 1>like year is off, but I think that means like <v Speaker 1>something by like twenty twenty six, right, like two years <v Speaker 1>off is what I think that means? What do you <v Speaker 1>think I think? <v Speaker 2>I mean, yeah, twenty twenty six seems to be ooh god, yeah, <v Speaker 2>AMD just laid off four percent of his employees yesterday, <v Speaker 2>so yeah, well Jesus, oh my god, beans, come on, yeah, no, <v Speaker 2>it feels ambitious, but it also feels like if you <v Speaker 2>wait any longer, you're just losing that market because of <v Speaker 2>Steam Deck and rock Ally and everything, and so it <v Speaker 2>does like, yeah, and also we don't know what's gonna <v Speaker 2>happen with things like tariffs and importing and. <v Speaker 1>The Acarnemy, so that Nintendo was smart to not announce <v Speaker 1>anything with the switch to until after the election. <v Speaker 2>They were, Yeah, that was a real queen's dying, let's <v Speaker 2>not announce tears of the Kingdom moment, right. <v Speaker 1>It's like the uncertainty now is real for that kind <v Speaker 1>of stuff. So yeah, I think that twenty twenty six <v Speaker 1>is going to be a big Xbox year where they <v Speaker 1>will try to like reset what their hardware deck looks like. <v Speaker 1>But that's not a lot of time between today and <v Speaker 1>then if they're still kind of analyzing what they're going <v Speaker 1>to do with their handheld hardware, it's so it's my <v Speaker 1>guest here is they've been analyzing it for a while <v Speaker 1>and they do have a pretty good idea what they <v Speaker 1>want to do, and if they can like launch a big, new, <v Speaker 1>super powerful Xbox console that you know has that's more <v Speaker 1>open than ever, you know, there's those rumors that would <v Speaker 1>you can install Steam on the next Xbox things like that, <v Speaker 1>if they have something like that ready to go in <v Speaker 1>twenty twenty six, to sort of uncouple themselves from the <v Speaker 1>generational reset that Sony's been on, so they're no longer <v Speaker 1>like side by sids. We think the next Sony generation <v Speaker 1>probably starts in like twenty twenty eight ish. Okay, that's great, <v Speaker 1>But then at that same time, as a sort of <v Speaker 1>the other pillar next to instead of you having the <v Speaker 1>Xbox One or Xbox Series S, you would probably want <v Speaker 1>the handheld to go alongside that. It would it would <v Speaker 1>be tough to get to that point, but I think <v Speaker 1>that they can probably make it happen, And especially if <v Speaker 1>they get very aggressive about it and they just go <v Speaker 1>full full speed speed ahead into using our architecture. You know, <v Speaker 1>the question will be can they get a translation layer <v Speaker 1>that makes all that stuff that you are owned run <v Speaker 1>really well on a device like that that's not nothing's <v Speaker 1>guaranteed there. So that's probably what's holding them up from <v Speaker 1>from thinking, hey, we can have this thing ready to <v Speaker 1>go and you know a year and a half. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I mean they've already dipped toe in. You know, <v Speaker 2>they had like some kind of deal with the Rock <v Speaker 2>Ally they had that, remember was it the Lenovo game <v Speaker 2>Pass x cloud machine thing for a few years ago <v Speaker 2>as well, So definitely keeping sort of like a presence <v Speaker 2>in the market with strategic partnerships. <v Speaker 1>Right when you've got the Roger, we got the Roger ally, yeah, <v Speaker 1>you would get the Yes game passing exactly, yes, yeah, right, yes, <v Speaker 1>So I think I think they want to be present <v Speaker 1>in the space they want to have. They want to say, hey, <v Speaker 1>you many of these devices you are using Windows still, <v Speaker 1>And I think if they while they are getting this whatever, <v Speaker 1>the Xbox side of things looks like you know, ready, <v Speaker 1>if they are improving the PC Windows side of it <v Speaker 1>to the point where it's like, okay, we understand what <v Speaker 1>people need from a portable operating system and a portable <v Speaker 1>gaming experience, that would be great. It's just like my <v Speaker 1>issue continues to be I already know what it looks like. <v Speaker 1>It looks exactly like exactly like steam Os. Steam Os <v Speaker 1>is what I want a portable gaming experience to feel <v Speaker 1>like when I turn on a system or you know, <v Speaker 1>or a switch, you know, switches how to write it <v Speaker 1>for a long time as well, So it's like okay, yeah, Kim. <v Speaker 1>Microsoft gets to that point. Maybe it's just like I <v Speaker 1>do think they do need the Xbox side of it. <v Speaker 1>So it's people don't have the expectations that come with <v Speaker 1>having Windows installed on a device because have carry forward <v Speaker 1>all of that history and all of the support there <v Speaker 1>for all the deal, Like I don't I don't need <v Speaker 1>Photoshop running on this thing. No. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, And sometimes like I'll boot up my rogueline, it's <v Speaker 2>just like, oh shit, I don't know, and then you <v Speaker 2>have to like reboot and stuff. I'm like, what is this? <v Speaker 2>What is this? <v Speaker 1>It's like gasps, like, oh my god, what's wrong? And <v Speaker 1>it's like, Okay, which of these three software these services <v Speaker 1>do I need to open up to update to get <v Speaker 1>it right? And it's like, oh no, it's the one <v Speaker 1>that's buried that I never remember, the my ACER experience <v Speaker 1>or whatever, my a SEUs experience whatever it's called. Yeah. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>So they definitely need to improve that. And I think, <v Speaker 1>you know, clearly, for me, the right answer is, don't <v Speaker 1>deal with any of that bullshit, just have an Xbox <v Speaker 1>handheld and yeah. Then they're working towards that. We'll see <v Speaker 1>what it looks like. I very curious to see if <v Speaker 1>they're able to pull off a transition to arm Again, <v Speaker 1>there's no guarantee that they will actually do that, but <v Speaker 1>I think they probably will, so we'll see. Uh. Okay, <v Speaker 1>let's see here the last story I have written down. <v Speaker 1>Xbox Chief says no red lines on Xbox games coming <v Speaker 1>to other platforms. This is from my Nintendo News. The <v Speaker 1>head of Xbox Phil Spencer, told Bloomberg in an interview <v Speaker 1>that he sees no red lines where it comes to <v Speaker 1>bringing major Xbox games to other platforms. This is in <v Speaker 1>upfront change from Spencer, who previously wouldn't be drawn into <v Speaker 1>saying if key Xbox games would come to other platforms. <v Speaker 1>It seems now that nothing is off the table for <v Speaker 1>the Redman based company. Spencer also told Bloomberg that the <v Speaker 1>business is much healthier now as the result of cuts <v Speaker 1>and games appearing on other systems, and that they are <v Speaker 1>working on Xbox themed hand on an Xbox Team handheld <v Speaker 1>that is a few years out after releasing the first <v Speaker 1>batch of Xbox games for Sony Group, Cores, PlayStation and <v Speaker 1>Nintendo companies switch, Spencer's pleased with the result. Microsoft will <v Speaker 1>do more of that, he said, and won't rule out <v Speaker 1>any game in Microsoft Stable. I think that's a quote <v Speaker 1>taken from the Bloomberg story. I do not see sort <v Speaker 1>of red lines in our portfolio that say thou must <v Speaker 1>not He said, it's too early to make any sort <v Speaker 1>of decision on the next version of Halo, for example. <v Speaker 1>So okay, let's start there. Lucy James, do you think <v Speaker 1>the next Halo is on a PlayStation? <v Speaker 2>Yes? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, this time. <v Speaker 2>I think going forward, I wouldn't be surprised if everything <v Speaker 2>comes to PlayStation eventually. <v Speaker 1>Because I think the way they need to look at it, <v Speaker 1>Lucy is maybe timed exclusive, but me bright maybe, but <v Speaker 1>it's like the way they need to look at it is, <v Speaker 1>what is this going to look like in ten years? <v Speaker 1>In ten years, you probably have fully sort of completed <v Speaker 1>the process of turning Xbox into this thing where it's <v Speaker 1>just the games are everywhere. So why delay it? Why <v Speaker 1>like sort of, you know, do these little tap dances <v Speaker 1>around what eventually is going to happen. Just accept that <v Speaker 1>that's the way it's going to be and just rip <v Speaker 1>the band aid off, and the band aid would be <v Speaker 1>Halo on PlayStation now. That is still going to be <v Speaker 1>a kind of a painful thing for a lot of <v Speaker 1>those fans to have to go through. But whatever, it's like, <v Speaker 1>it's just a game that other people can play. And <v Speaker 1>I think Microsoft once you get used to that idea, <v Speaker 1>and I do think that more now than ever, Microsoft <v Speaker 1>is operating under the belief that third party stores will <v Speaker 1>become regulated as such that that platform holders will have <v Speaker 1>to allow them onto their store, onto their stores. So <v Speaker 1>you can get the Microsoft Gaming Store on Google Play, sure, <v Speaker 1>but in ten fifteen years time you will also be <v Speaker 1>able to get the Microsoft store that has Call of <v Speaker 1>Duty and Diablo and all this other stuff on PlayStation, <v Speaker 1>and PlayStation will not be able to take a cut <v Speaker 1>of it because that's the way it's going to work <v Speaker 1>on mobile. And what's the difference. I think Microsoft thinks <v Speaker 1>that's going to happen now. We don't know that's going <v Speaker 1>to happen right now. There is no regulation that is <v Speaker 1>forcing console manufacturers to do the same thing that's happening <v Speaker 1>on smartphones. But what's the difference. There's very little difference. <v Speaker 1>People will point out a difference, but there I think <v Speaker 1>as far as regulators are concerned, there isn't one. So <v Speaker 1>I think Microsoft's thinking about that future, wanting to be <v Speaker 1>ready for it, and being ready for it. Men's like, hey, <v Speaker 1>if you have the Microsoft Gaming app of you know, <v Speaker 1>the gaming store available on place, why wouldn't I be <v Speaker 1>able to buy Halo on there? So, yeah, I think <v Speaker 1>you're right. It's weird, but that's the future they're heading toward. Now, <v Speaker 1>do you think this is the answer to what ails <v Speaker 1>Microsoft currently? <v Speaker 2>I think we'll be able to more accurately discuss that <v Speaker 2>one when they start putting games out, Like twenty five <v Speaker 2>for Microsoft is going to be according to the Summer <v Speaker 2>Game First presentation we had this year, like allegedly a <v Speaker 2>lot of bangers coming out for them, like a lot <v Speaker 2>of titles that I've been waiting for for a very <v Speaker 2>long time. I don't know. Microsoft has been very bullish <v Speaker 2>about acquisitions. They are obviously still always looking around for <v Speaker 2>acquisitions and like bringing everyone unto the stable. But I <v Speaker 2>think in terms of the console war, the console race, <v Speaker 2>like I think they are seeing a different path and <v Speaker 2>like I'm really interested to see how it plays off <v Speaker 2>for them. Like they are making these really long plays, <v Speaker 2>they're making these investments, but then at the same time, <v Speaker 2>the human cost they're laying off thousands of people. So <v Speaker 2>and yeah, all of Bethesda Zenomaxillon strike today, So I <v Speaker 2>don't know. I'm really interested to see where it goes. <v Speaker 2>I think one of the things that's going to be <v Speaker 2>strange to decouple is the tribalism that everyone, like our generation, <v Speaker 2>kind of grew up with because you were like a Dreamcast, <v Speaker 2>or like a PlayStation or like an Xbox like you were, <v Speaker 2>you were defined by the console that you have, and <v Speaker 2>so moving into this world where everyone is able to <v Speaker 2>play everything is going to be really interesting. And some <v Speaker 2>people will really embrace that and be excited about the <v Speaker 2>fact that hey, I can just buy one box and <v Speaker 2>have everything, and then some people are going to be <v Speaker 2>clinging onto the aldways. <v Speaker 1>Yep, just fill in a little bit there. From Shanloo <v Speaker 1>in verse. Hundreds of Potesta video game workers who work <v Speaker 1>on titles like Fallout seventy six and Elder Scrolls are <v Speaker 1>going on strike across the country. Workers in Maryland and <v Speaker 1>Texas are walking off the JA claiming that the company <v Speaker 1>has failed to address their remote work concerns at the <v Speaker 1>bargaining table and has begun outsourcing quality assurance work without <v Speaker 1>the union's agreement. Yeah, that's uh. They unionized like in <v Speaker 1>like the last year, right. <v Speaker 2>They Uh, yeah, it was pretty recent. <v Speaker 1>It was pretty recent, But it was the one that <v Speaker 1>was like, oh man, that's that's the like wall to <v Speaker 1>wall union over there, that they have a pathesda. That's <v Speaker 1>that's new and they are already showing their power, so <v Speaker 1>hopefully they're they're able to get what they want. There. <v Speaker 1>The remote work thing there is something that really sticks <v Speaker 1>to my crawl because it is that is such a <v Speaker 1>clear thing of you could see how these executives are thinking. <v Speaker 1>It's like, this isn't like a new way to treat workers, right, <v Speaker 1>this is a new lever we can pull when it's <v Speaker 1>time to reduce our head count. We no longer have <v Speaker 1>to fire people. All we have to do is say <v Speaker 1>mandated return to office. And we know but just by <v Speaker 1>you know, we know the math that when we pull <v Speaker 1>that lever, we will lose ten percent of people who <v Speaker 1>don't want to make that change, and so we just <v Speaker 1>save money and there we go. We watched it and <v Speaker 1>it's like, you know that you cannot treat that that <v Speaker 1>that that way. These are people's lives, people building their <v Speaker 1>lives around this thing. This is not some new magical <v Speaker 1>thing you could do to save costs. Uh and and <v Speaker 1>but they're gonna keep treating that way until it gets enshrined, <v Speaker 1>either through union contracts or labor labor laws, which in <v Speaker 1>the United States, good fucking luck. So oh yes, so right, <v Speaker 1>go for it. Get get you get what's yours bethes <v Speaker 1>the workers, uh, you know, solidarity with you all. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I think that. God, God, I forget what where we <v Speaker 1>were going to talking about. Oh, yes, the games come <v Speaker 1>in other platforms. Yeah, they look at Call of Duty <v Speaker 1>Black Ops six, that was one, Like, there was so <v Speaker 1>much talk will it be exclusive to Xbox? Looking at <v Speaker 1>black what Black Ops six has done, that's just an <v Speaker 1>absurd notion at this point, that would be a completely <v Speaker 1>baffling world to be in where Black Ops six came out, <v Speaker 1>and it's just this, it's big, a bigger success than <v Speaker 1>Call of Duty's had in a very long time, if <v Speaker 1>not ever, And there's just no world in which they <v Speaker 1>kind of go back from this. Hey, these games are everywhere, <v Speaker 1>and it's like, when when you have something like this, <v Speaker 1>you're like, we should try to replicate what Black Ops <v Speaker 1>six is with more games, And part of that is <v Speaker 1>you could play that game anywhere, So that's why people <v Speaker 1>continue to show up for it. <v Speaker 2>So yeah, What did Matt Piscusella call it. I think <v Speaker 2>he was like, the results are in for black Op <v Speaker 2>six and then Bunkers Bonkers. <v Speaker 1>Yes it is, but the engagement numbers are completely off <v Speaker 1>the charts, and I think he's going to have the <v Speaker 1>sirkana Us sales results here in the next two weeks. <v Speaker 2>You just don't hear the word bonkers so much anymore. <v Speaker 2>I love I love that that's what he pulled out <v Speaker 2>for this. <v Speaker 1>I remember when all the guys left Joystick to go <v Speaker 1>start Polygon. They did a pack spanel and I was <v Speaker 1>there for it and they were like they were they <v Speaker 1>had announced the name of Polygon yet and they're like, <v Speaker 1>we registered bonkers dot com and justin it was very <v Speaker 1>much like I wanted to be Bonkers dot Com. I <v Speaker 1>keep pushing for that, and uh, they ended up going <v Speaker 1>with Polygon instead of Bunkers dot Com. <v Speaker 2>Now I think I think, I think you shout Bunkers. <v Speaker 1>I think very good. <v Speaker 2>I think I've seen I've seen that panel. Yeah, have <v Speaker 2>you ever gone back and watched the first of a <v Speaker 2>Polygon video whether all walking on the streets of New York? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and Arthur Geese is getting a tattoo, right is <v Speaker 1>that Yeah, Arthur, Yeah that is that still available somewhere <v Speaker 1>because I feel like I can, Okay, send it to me. <v Speaker 1>I want to watch it again. Yeah, good time, all right, <v Speaker 1>I am going to get to the pole question. Let's <v Speaker 1>do that. Let's see here, I've got it already ready <v Speaker 1>to go. Okay, which game are you most looking forward <v Speaker 1>to for the rest of the year? Stalker two, Dragon <v Speaker 1>Quest three, h D two d Indiana Jones or Rise <v Speaker 1>of the Golden Idol. Rise of the Golden Idol got <v Speaker 1>nine percent. Uh, people don't have days, people don't have taste. Lucy, <v Speaker 1>you're playing it? Yes? Shit, does it rule? <v Speaker 2>It's so good, my god, it rocks. <v Speaker 1>I'm just every like I'm at a point with it <v Speaker 1>where every time I pick it up and look at <v Speaker 1>it again, like I am flooded with dopemine. I'm like, <v Speaker 1>we're back in it. Oh my god, this is so exciting, <v Speaker 1>a new mystery. I just get happy every time I <v Speaker 1>go to play it again. It's so like punch in <v Speaker 1>the air. Yeah, Dan beat it last night and he <v Speaker 1>was he was running through We talked about it on <v Speaker 1>the BombCast yesterday. Everybody, so definitely definitely checked that out. <v Speaker 2>The music in it is great because it's obviously bringing <v Speaker 2>the story up to like the seventies, so there are <v Speaker 2>some good beats. <v Speaker 1>And it's deep, creepy beats. Yep. I just love the <v Speaker 1>way it looks. God, what a cool thing. Okay, And <v Speaker 1>I think I'm finishing the driving thing right now. That's <v Speaker 1>my That's the mission I was on. So I have <v Speaker 1>the next mission after that that I'm getting into. Now. <v Speaker 2>Oh, you're still pretty pretty early. <v Speaker 1>I'm in chapter two. Yes, yeah, I haven't had a <v Speaker 1>lot of time for it, but I am he okay. <v Speaker 1>So the results from this Rise of the Golden Idol <v Speaker 1>nine percent in third place, Dragon Quest three h D <v Speaker 1>two D with twenty six percent. I'm I'm looking forward <v Speaker 1>to that. That's out pretty soon, although Stalker two at <v Speaker 1>thirty one percent also out soon and then thirty four percent, <v Speaker 1>say Indiana Jones, I'm thot that was. <v Speaker 2>Out coming out. I'm before that'll me my Christmas game. Yes, <v Speaker 2>I'm excited. I am genuinely excited for Indiana Jobs, even <v Speaker 2>though I'm not in Indiana Jones like fun, Yeah, I do. <v Speaker 2>I love machine games, so. <v Speaker 1>Yep, machine games. You know that gameplay reveal trailer definitely <v Speaker 1>looked like or the gameplayed Deep Dive. I should say <v Speaker 1>they've done a reveal previously the Deep Dive. It was <v Speaker 1>like fifteen minutes showing stuff up. I'm looking like, this <v Speaker 1>looks like a game that was made by people that <v Speaker 1>worked on Chronicles of Riddick and it really yes, and <v Speaker 1>it is. So I'm like, I want to play this <v Speaker 1>game very bad. I'm really looking for work to it <v Speaker 1>at this point. But yeah, I'll try all these Well. <v Speaker 1>I wish I would have made time for Stalker one <v Speaker 1>this year. I always intended to play. <v Speaker 2>I've never played it. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think it would be so, yeah, we'll see. Okay, yep, <v Speaker 1>that's the result of that poll. We got a new <v Speaker 1>poll question that I'll get to here in a second <v Speaker 1>before we do. Lucy James, why don't you tell people <v Speaker 1>where they can find you on the internet what you <v Speaker 1>have going on all that good stuff? <v Speaker 2>Well you can find me in about three hours time <v Speaker 2>when we return to Kong Blight Islands. <v Speaker 1>Blight Club returns. <v Speaker 2>Like, what was the name of this game? <v Speaker 1>It's Skull Island, Rise of Kong. I believe it took <v Speaker 1>me a long time to commit that to me. <v Speaker 2>I'm very excited to get back into it. I am <v Speaker 2>ready to face the same enemies over and over and <v Speaker 2>over again. <v Speaker 1>You made real progis last time, you made real prom. <v Speaker 2>I made a lot of proggies for shoot. <v Speaker 1>For shoot, you made proot. <v Speaker 2>I've made proggies. <v Speaker 1>No notes you thank you? <v Speaker 2>Uh so yeah? <v Speaker 1>Doing that? <v Speaker 2>And then what else am I doing this week? Prepping <v Speaker 2>for Game Awards? <v Speaker 1>Yeah? <v Speaker 2>Stuff? Please be excited. <v Speaker 1>Meeting Still, I'm out next week. So it's like I got, <v Speaker 1>you know, we I got. Everyone knows that we do <v Speaker 1>have the GB at night, the night before the Game Awards. Lucy, <v Speaker 1>you'll be on that last segment hanging out with us. <v Speaker 1>It's gonna be a good time. Looking really looking forward <v Speaker 1>to that. Uh And I have the assistant that helped <v Speaker 1>out last time is helping me schedule this time, which <v Speaker 1>has just been saving me from an ulcer. It's been <v Speaker 1>really good. <v Speaker 2>People are messaging me asking to come by the way <v Speaker 2>like some cool people, so. <v Speaker 1>Loop me in. I love I love having cool, especially <v Speaker 1>cool friends of yours. That'd be great. Let's let's make <v Speaker 1>it happen and we'll get that going. <v Speaker 2>Wendy helping out. <v Speaker 1>Wendy is helping out, Yes, yes she is, and she's <v Speaker 1>Christing and so so yeah, if again, I mentioned this <v Speaker 1>last time and it worked. But any developers that you <v Speaker 1>think you might be in LA around that time, you <v Speaker 1>or you know, if your PR and you represent developers, <v Speaker 1>reach out to me. We'll see we can make something happen. <v Speaker 1>We don't have a ton of spots. We're just doing <v Speaker 1>the one night, so it's gonna fill up fast. <v Speaker 2>Oh, there are some people who are just wanting to <v Speaker 2>hang out. <v Speaker 1>Oh for sure, yes, and that you were more than <v Speaker 1>welcome to do that. It's going to be a fun time. <v Speaker 1>We you know, we we do. We've done at the <v Speaker 1>office now but a bunch of times. It's been great <v Speaker 1>every time. It's actually not a bad hangout spot. <v Speaker 2>No one's thrown out everywhere, you know, like we've never <v Speaker 2>had that. We never had anyone throw up or ruin anything, <v Speaker 2>which is nice. Good, it's nice. <v Speaker 1>Good. Everyone keeps their shit together. It's good to see. <v Speaker 2>Nick you just said I can fix that. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, let's go play call It Duty with Ricky last night. <v Speaker 1>That was fun. Were we fished on my other podcast <v Speaker 1>and me and the boys from the podcast were hanging <v Speaker 1>out and then Nikki you just joined and we just yeah, <v Speaker 1>we played for like an hour. It was a good time, <v Speaker 1>all right, new pole question. Do you think the next <v Speaker 1>Halo release on a PlayStation? Will We will release on <v Speaker 1>a PlayStation as well as Xbox fix that Shawn jan <v Speaker 1>whoever posts that I didn't write that, well, yes or <v Speaker 1>no are your options? Looking forward to the results of that, <v Speaker 1>which we will talk about on games Morning's here on <v Speaker 1>giant Bomb tomorrow. Speaking to Giant Bomb. As Lucy mentioned, <v Speaker 1>tune in for Blake Cold later today. We'll get some <v Speaker 1>other fun stuff on the website. I'm going to try <v Speaker 1>to play some games here or there. We'll see and <v Speaker 1>again out next week. We're going to try to make <v Speaker 1>the most of this week, but game most mornings. We'll <v Speaker 1>return for the rest of the week, so look out <v Speaker 1>for that. Anything else we should mention, I can't think <v Speaker 1>of anything else, so let's get out of here. Lucy James, <v Speaker 1>thank you so much for hanging out with me today <v Speaker 1>and talking about video games. I really appreciate it. <v Speaker 2>Well, so this is always a highlight of my week. <v Speaker 1>Yep. And there is to confirm Yes, Blake Club three pm <v Speaker 1>Eastern time. That's right, yep.
