Reports: Friday Night Smackdown expected to revert to two-hour timeslot

The days of three-hour Friday Night Smackdowns might be done once again.

Two separate reports have stated that WWE’s blue brand could soon go back to being a two-hour timeslot this summer.

Both Bodyslam+ and Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer have said recently that the plan is for Smackdown to soon go back to being a two-hour program that starts at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

Meltzer specifically said that the move will occur when Braun Strowman’s “Everything on the Menu” cooking show returns for its second season this summer, as the show will air in the 10 p.m. slot that is usually taken by Smackdown’s third hour. Bodyslam said to expect the change “in a few weeks.”

The first season of Strowman’s “Everything on the Menu” aired in the 10 p.m. ET slot right after Smackdown finished airing during 2025. It was announced earlier this year that the show had been renewed for a second season. The release date for the season hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Smackdown has flipped between being a two and three-hour program since it returned to the USA Network in late 2024. The latest three-hour era started in January.

It’s unclear when this change might exactly happen. Online schedules for the TV channel only go as far as May 8, where it shows that Smackdown will still be a three-hour show.
