856: 15 Transactions for Week 17

It's the final fifteen transactions episode of the season. This one's mostly full of waiver wire ads, but I hope the season's worth of transactions were positive for you, whether you acted on the moves or not. Hopefully you walked away from listening to each episode a little bit smarter and a little bit better at fantasy football. That's all I could ask for. Now, keep in mind I'll be dropping the Sleepers episode on Thursday at its usual time. I know that this episode is dropping at a different time than it usually drops, but that'll be it for the podcast this season. Now. I'm not going away. I podcast all off season two, but when it comes to the twenty twenty three Fantasy football season, that's it. This final week of the season is always very bittersweet. I'm so lucky to be doing what I love for a living. I'm so lucky that I have all of you guys listen to this show each week. I try to never lose sight of that. But I'm also ready for a little break the in season grind. It's a lot, and I'm excited to take a step back, do some deeper analysis, look at some prospects, and really recharge and get better as a fantasy player during this offseason. That's all to say. Please stick around. The in season stuff is hopefully helpful for you, but I can assure you that the off season stuff is where leagues are won. I'm really looking forward to it. With all that being said, one last time this season, let's get to these transactions. Add Clyde Edwards a layer. If Clyde Edwards a Laiir's on your waiver wire, you need to get him right now. He's a must this week. Jeric McKinnon's on Ir and Isaiah Pichecko suffered a concussion against the Raiders on Monday. That leaves the Kansas City backfield to literally Clyde Edwards A Laire is their main back. He would be a bell cow if Pacheco's unable to play this week and Kansas City gets Cincinnati. The Bengals defense has been struggling hard lately, and they rank in the bottom ten this season and rushing yards over expected allowed per rush. They're an average opponent when looking at adjusted fantasy points allowed to running backs. But Kansas City might actually be able to move the ball against the Cincinnati defense. Make sure that Clyde Edwards A. Laiir is rostered this week. Drop Joe Flacco. So a lot of waiver columns this week they're gonna suggest to you add Joe Flacco off the waiver wire. I'm not sure that's the smartest idea. Has Flacco been awesome in fantasy football? Has he been fun at least? Yeah? Is he coming off a top three outing at the position? Yes? He gets the Jets, though this week, New York ranks as the toughest matchup by justin fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. They've given up just two top ten performances all season long. The two quarterbacks to get there against New York Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen. Flacco has been a great story, but I would have a very hard time trusting him in the Fantasy Football Championship. Hold brock Purty. Look, it was tough for Brock Party managers. In Week sixteen, he finishes the QB thirty four on the week. It was by far his worst outing of the season. If you're still alive and if you have Brock Purdy, don't rage drop him. He's in a great bounce back spot in week seventeen because he gets the Commanders. They're the bottom ran defense by justin fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. As long as Perdy plays, you should feel good about him in your lineup. Add kJ Osborne. Now, there's a chance that Jordan Addison plays this week against Green Bay. It's been reported that his ankle injury that he suffered against the Lions. It's not major, but it's Tuesday. We don't know for sure. TJ. Hawkinson's injury that sounds worse and that could cause more targets to be fune towards Minnesota's wide receivers, So enter kJ Osbourne. Osbourne had a ninety five yard day against Detroit in Week sixteen and he had a twenty percent target chair in that Minnesota offense. That type of target share is very very achievable if both Jordan Aison and TJ. Hawkinson are out this week, So you should be looking to add kJ Osbourne, add Tyler Algier. So I'll be honest, Tyler Algear, that type of running back in the role that he's playing in the Atlanta offense, that's not the type of running back that I usually go for in Fantasy football, let alone during the Fantasy Football Championship. He's seen just two targets over his last five games. And despite his performance in Week sixteen, where he scored fifteen point eight ppero points, his running back rush share in that game fell to a three week low thirty two percent. Now, with that being said, there are teams out there that are struggling at running back, even championship teams, and Algier gets the Bears this week and what could at least be a neutral to positive game environment for Atlanta's offense that could lead to a little bit more rushing volume for Aljiir. Add DeMarcus Robinson. So Tutu Atwell returned to the Rams in Week sixteen, but he didn't take back that number three wide receiver role. At Well ran a route on just five point seven percent of Matthew Stafford's dropbacks against the Saints. DeMarcus Robinson is the team's number three wide out. His role participation over his last three has been ninety eight percent, ninety four percent, ninety four percent, and he's in a target share per game rate over this time of eighteen percent. If you're looking at waiver wire wide receivers, those are not bad numbers. Add Derek Carr to me the top streaming option this week at quarterback. It's not Joe Flacco. To me, it's Derek Carr. Car's given fantasy managers back to back top seven weeks, and now he faces a Tampa Bay secondary that ranks the ninth best matchup for quarterbacks by justin fantasy points allowed. There aren't many obvious plays at quarterback off the waiver wide this week, so I do think that car makes a lot of sense. Add Romeo Dobbs. The Packers just can't catch a break with wide receiver injuries. Christian Watson's been dealing with hamstring issues all season, Jaden Reid's banged up, and Dontavian Wicks left Week sixteen's match up against Carolina with a chest injury. So Romeo Dobbs could, as a result, walk into a lot of volume in this Green Bay offense. He's only out there in forty three percent of Yahoo leagues, but it's week seventeen. I wanted to be a little bit looser with parameters, So if Romeo Dobbs is out there, I would definitely try to add him. Add Tucker Craft. So all that stuff about the Packers wide receiver group, it applies to Tucker Craft too. He's been mentioned plenty of times in this podcast over the last handful of weeks, and that's because his usage has been really good since Luke Musgrave went down. Kraft has seen at least in eighty percent route participation in four of his last five games. That's really strong at tight end, and he's now hit double digit PPR points in each of his last three. You should feel good about him as a streamer, especially if the other Packers wide receivers are sidelined this week ad Khalil Herbert. The Bears backfield has been so hard to project week in and week out. Some weeks it's Deontay Foreman, other weeks it's Roshawn Johnson, and then in week sixteen it was Khalil Herbert. Now a huge reason. Herbert saw sixty nine percent of the team's running back rushes and a nine percent target share this past week against the Cardinals was because the aforementioned Deontay Foreman was out due to a personal issue. We have no idea if Foreman's going to be back in week seventeen, but if he isn't, Herbert could be in store for another big workload in a neutral game script versus the Falcons or a potential neutral game script. Atlanta has been pretty strong against running backs this season, though when looking at justin Fantasy points allowed, this is more of a volume play and you do have to trust that the Bears do what they did this past week with Khalil Herbert's workload, But overall, I think he's worth an ad add Zamir White. So I talked about Zamir White on the show a couple of weeks ago, and he's exceeded my expectation, if I'm being totally honest. Without Josh Jacobs's past week, White saw ninety two percent of Vegas's running back rushes his route participation, it was fine at forty eight percent. The Raiders this week get the Colts indoors Indy Ranks is the third best matchup for running backs by justin Fantasy points allowed. I don't know if Josh Jacobs is gonna go or not, but if he doesn't go, Zamir White is honestly an RB two type play, and Brandon Johnson and Marvin Mims Cortland Sutton suffered a concussion in Denver's game against New England this past week, so his Week seventeen is totally up in the air. Jerry Judy could see a spike in target share of Sutton's out, but don't forget about Brandon Johnson and Marvin Mims either. Johnson ended up running more routes than Mims against the Patriots. He saw five targets Mims had four. But Mims is a big play waiting to happen. He's someone who's kind of interesting in deeper leagues as a higher variants play. And the reason these wide receivers are important this week is because the Broncos get the Chargers. LA's been a top five matchup for wide receivers this season by justin Fantasy points allowed. So if Sutton's out, I think Johnson and Mims are both sleepers. If you need a higher variants option, go with Mims. If you want more of the floor, go with Johnson and Gerald Everett Gerald Everts hit a twenty five percent target chair in back to back weeks with Keenan Allen and Donald Parhums sidelined. If both players are out in Week seventeen, which is totally possible, then Everett makes for an obvious streaming choice because he gets Denver. Denver's been the most advantageous matchup this season for tight ends by justin fantasy points allowed. Add to Houston Texans defense, it shouldn't matter if Will Levis goes or not for Tennessee this week. The Texans are a good play. Tennessee has now allowed a top ten defensive performance in four straight games. They've given up six sacks in three of those four contests. On the season, Houston ranks fifth and pressure rate. We saw them rank as a top six option against the Titans just a couple of weeks ago, and there's a chance that we see that again here in Week seventeen. Add the Los Angeles Rams defense. As I've been saying on this show, the Rams had a cake walk fantasy playoff schedule that concludes this week. When they faced the Giants. Now New York had a little bit more life offensively when Tyrod Taylor took over that offense on Christmas. But even if Taylor goes this week, you have to imagine the Rams is a decent streaming choice. They're six and a half point road favorites against a team that ranks dead last and sack rate allowed this year. That's it for today's show, though, thanks to all of you for listening.
