In this episode of The Well podcast, Pastor Phil, Pastor Chad, and host Les Norman talk about the elements of saving faith. In Hebrews 3, the author warns the ancient Hebrews not to doubt Jesus’ sufficiency. He reminds them of the Israelites who escaped captivity from Egypt. They had enough faith to get out of Egypt but not enough to enter the Promised Land! Although God constantly provided for them, the Israelites lacked the three elements of saving faith. They complained bitterly, doubted God’s promise, and disobeyed His commands. The Ancient Hebrews would have known this account well, and the illustration in Hebrews 3 would have been familiar to them. The call is not to harden your heart when God has delivered you from the law's condemnation. How do you do this? Ask for forgiveness for the apathy and complacency that consumes your faith. The 3 Elements of Saving Faith: Admit your disbelief and disobedience. Repent and be honest with God. Seek a community that will speak truth into your life. Faith is more than a feeling.
