M Hey, it's August the sixteen, twenty sixteen. You're listening to the Giant bomb cast, or at least what's left of it. That's right in here. I feel like it looks this room looks like what it's going to be like when the super flu starts eradicating humanity. Yeah, slowly any day now, just week by week, more and more people are falling, until all of a sudden it's like, oh wait, this is the end of the world. Chips. Yeah, we've we lost Jason a Striker this week to illness. Yes, a baby born illness, Yes, apparently kind apparently young a Striker is a harbinger of plague vector. Yes, disease vector. Jason's out ill. Yeah, but Jeff Gersman in the house. That's right. I'm also I'm in ill. You know what I'm saying. You can be in ill. Oh yeah, people do it all, not just ill. No, I'm in ill. In he's here, but he's he's sick. He's in absolutely positively. Drew Scandling in the house. Yeah, looking perplex down there. Yeah, I'm just gonna let that one go. Okay, gotta clean this microphone. We gotta thoroughly scripe it down. Yeah, Matthew, Matt Rory. Hey in the house, that is my middle name. Yeah, that is very confusing. People always ask me to do for Madam Matthew. The one works. They're both my names. We go we just like Alex, we go with Rory. Around here, for the most part, has previously established Matts don't have first names. People like Sanna. Gosh, you're right, Rory. Yeah, every every Matt I know, we've we've I think this has come up before. Literally every Matt I know I call by their last name. There are a lot of us. Why that is a class in college. There's thirty people co ed, so like fifteen men, but six of them are Matthews. So at some point you just learn not to Yeah, whatever, comm whatever you want common there. Hey guy, you I'll respond to that with the eyes. Stop making those eyes at me. All right, what's going on, Matt Rory? How are you doing? I I'm enjoying the new look studio. Yeah, I guess you haven't really spent any time in here yet. I have spent a little bit of time here. I'm haven't been on the show yet since we've been went lives. Yeah, have you informed us moments before we began recording that you had not showered today. Yes, I apologize, but I showered though I didn't notice. You could have just flowed right under if you hadn't brought it up. Are you normally a morning shower or a night shower? Not normally in the morning normally I'd like to get that extra tennis to sleep right, to take shower. I have my schedule down pretty easily. If I bike him, I definitely take showering when it coming, of course. But if I'm on the bus, like you know, I shower it right before I got to bed, so yeah, I'll get a little bit of bus stink on you. Like whatever. It's as long as I'm not swelteringly hot while I sleep, I should be should be fine. Yeah, just nice nighttime shower in the dark, drinking beer, dark shower, Yeah, dark beer shower back up if we talk about them more. Uh, I can't. I can't live like that. I can occasionally take a shower with the lights off. I find that somewhat empowering, but I don't want to drink a beer in the shower. That's not It has to be a certain day, like if you've been biking in the summer and you get home. I've tried it, people swear by it. It just doesn't do much for me. I'm more of a Martini in the beer. Martini in the beer. Yeah, we're getting somewhere, uh and and nice chilled martini in the shower. That seems like that would be. It's like a big wide you get a sack up with a cover on it, not more the wide bram glasses. I haven't seen like a really big martini port in a while. SF is getting kind of the tiny martinis. It's probably fourteen bucks martinis. Well, you know, the the taller the glasses are more, the more volume there is for the vodka to go into it. And I've steadily it's kind of a controversy, like steadily smaller and smaller over the years instead of like the martini glass, it's just like here's a shorter No, it's the same same stem usually, but then the bowl of it is definitely shrinking down and every like millimeter less. There's like that much less vodka you can get. I've seen some criminally small martini glass. I was gonna say that seems that seems illegal. You don't know until you order it what size of glass is going to be, because they have a million back there and you don't know what they're going to give you. I mean, that's that's just San Francisco at this point. Yeah, everybody's getting less for their money. Yeah, yeah, finding different ways to screw out her money San Francisco way. So you are definitely a vodka martini guy. Oh yes, I liked him. I was gonna say, I think you're like the only person I know that likes I liked En quite a bit. You don't do a gin martin. Gin's a good It's a poor man's drink. I like it. Keep you know. At one point in London they had a quarter of all houses had gin stills in them. It was the gin, the gin crazy crazy, I forget what they called it, but like people fall bossoms. They was in London. That's that's when your your cheeks start to get red because you drink too much. The gin epidemic or something like that. Gin is an epidemic, and Frank we need to wipe it out people. That's why I brought you here today. Stand it out, intervention, this garbage. I don't think we have enough people in here for an intervention, need like enough to surround you with a circle. We care about you. Drink more vodka. Get this gin out of your life. It's Pato ruining you. Potatoes are good for you. Potato's arm. I saw whatever gin is made out of his nut. I was at the store last night and I saw organic vodka and I just it was like, I don't you just don't vodka flavored vodka thing is good out of control. Yeah, all right, there's like cupcake vodka now and like cream and chocolate. You want to talk about an epidemic. So look, I'll mix a drink. You know, I'm a drink mixer. I like a mixed drink. You like your screw when I'm drinking. If I'm drinking, not not as often. Yeah, you get a screw driver. And what if you had what if you had orange cream sickle vodka and then orange juice, and it's like you're you're kind of just you're drinking fifty fifty bars until you fall over. Because it sounds like a great way to go. The pep the pepper vodka goes really good into bloody Mary's, like like black pepper, like crack pepper. Yeah, I had a Yeah, that's that maybe the one I saw I saw did we talked about it on here. It's fall like an oak flavored vodka. No, that's that's that's supposed to be. Goddamn, it's absolute oak. Yeah. And then their whole thing is they're trying to say, like, hey, man, fucking fuck you Jack Daniels, like, yeah, it's like whiskey exceptance and you know that brown bottle, that's a wrapper you take it off and that that shit clear. I just why would I just like the reason I don't drink vodka? Yeah, it will look I don't. It's not like I'm over here going like, man, if only I could drink whiskey but I hate it so much. Only I get something that approximates everything I hate about whiskey, but it's technically vodka. Like who the fuck is that for people who have very very clear allowances of what they can drink and try and technically it's vodka. I'm still rushing, right, Okay, bad stereotypes. Sorry, Yeah, that's that's that. That whole thing I saw that billboard, uh for thea when I'm talking about Watch your Back, Jack, Yeah, yeah, exactly I don't know, they're fucking yeah, they're quaking in their fucking boots over there, like, oh, no absolutes on the case, we're doomed. I bought whip cream that had alcohol in it. It was not a vodka. It's the other way around, alcohol cream vodka. It's whip cream that had alcohol. And I was like, this is great, So I'm gonna squirt this directly in my mouth. What a dumb idea. That's what you're seeing in high school. You know, I just smuggle it in. You got me bears and your whip cream exact uh. And but then I, you know, I shot it and it was dead when I bought it. It was like that, here's this like fourteen dollars, like no land of no no spray or like it just oozed out a little bit of it, tasted it. When this is terrible if you're if you're a huffer, though, the people sneaks into supermarkets and gets fucking high on the on the aerosols, that'd be the I have known people to go to Choice for Yeah. At the end of the day, Yeah, you're cleaning up the supermarket, You're finding all these empty bottles of fucking vodka. Whip cream, Yeah, whip cream vodka. Oh well, in the bathroom trash trash can for all the people so work at a bookstore, That bathroom trash kind at the end of the day at the bookstore, okay, okay, were people smuggling the magazines in the bathroom to the bathroom and then not buying them? No, No, they'd gotten there there. Yeah, I figured I would have been just fine not knowing that. Ever, it's a lending libraries, bad shit and bathrooms that's lockable. Private bathrooms. I love them, but not funning clean up at the end of the day. They should be used for good. I should be used that. It sounds like they were used for real good. I don't know, Like, who are you to dress relief at least? Yeah, people have needs your your bookstore, bathroom habits, your own business. Yeah, I suppose it, Drew By, how you doing pretty good? It's going on, oh, you know, hanging, it's chilling, just you know, commentary over here with all my computers, yeah, yeah, running the thing. I see like four different monitors over there. Yeah there's a yeah, four you're right, yeah, yeah, four cameras, four monitors. That's how it works. Yeah, it was technically five cameras is one bove us. Oh, you're right, we called the security cam feed just staring at us constantly. I think we're gonna have to put your ability to multitasks through the test. Okay, you're gonna make me talk, aren't you? Yeah, because we need you be. You told me right before the show you've been playing a lot of No Man st That's right, I have. Oh, yes, see multitask, which is still kind of the thing, right, still the topic on the asking. Yeah. Absolutely, everyone's trying to get do more with less. Yeah, that's one of the Windows ninety five true multi technic format. Finally, while I played Happening Buying a Mega Mother players played Doom at the same time. Yes, uh, what do you think of it? It's uh. First of all, I spent the first uh hour so with it going through all the list of configuration settings that like, are you on PC? I'm on PC? Yeah, okay, get a pull on unprofessional Fridays. Which version of No Man Sky I should buy this after it had launched? Yeah, yes, we played it on Friday, okay, and the chat told me to buy PC version. Really as they were looking at the PC version they said, yeah, that's the one to get. How so that's all I feel like that's all, even a whole separate conversation from how the actual game is. But like, how did it? How did that go on that machine? Like? Uh, because because it's great. It was not great. It was definitely I would describe it as not great for me. At home GameSpot had that dual ten eighty and videos and they're sellsana. They had some chunky as far I got everybody's saying borderlet's windows and turn off v Sinc And stuff like that, and machine with fucking two ten eighties in it. Oh yes, I think they may have more than one, actually Jesus, Yeah, sure, of course, A fucking course. They all right, we're still on, We're still on, We're still on six seventies and all our machines, good stuff. They put out an experimental patch that you have to opt into. Yeah. I opped it into that. Did you try it? I did that help? Yeah? Well, so the one thing that someone wrote in and told me to change before that patch would come out is apparently that game shipped with g Sinc Turned on, So like that was causing performance issues because it was assuming it was constantly looking to g Sinc. Even if you didn't have a g Sinc monitor, which I don't. Uh, And so there's a text file and you could go in and edit to turn that off, and after I did that, it ran better. But yeah, I don't know, Like you spin a three sixty and it's just you get to a point where it's like it just starts stuttering or stopping and halting as it's trying to figure out what the fuck it should be showing you. And like the just overall performance was very low. Also, I just think the image quality is bad, Like it looks fucking grimy, even with everything turned all the way up, or even you know, like it turned off the anti alost thing to try to like look, I want it sharp and rough like even that just it looked like smeared vasoline, like just just yeah, we grimy dirty, which it doesn't look right. We played on a NEWPF. We did that whole thing where we try to set it all the way up and all of a sudden it's all the way down and actually surprisingly the kind of decent all the way down there wasn't It didn't. I mean, I'm sure graphic nerds out there would be looking for the bells and whistles. But I mean, last last night checked on Steam, the required graphics card was a four eighty, right, so like you figured it would just run the fine on anything that's a radion, right, that's what That's what it said. This was a couple of weeks ago last check. They may have updated that stuff, but anyway, yeah, it's just it. It doesn't run well. Like I came away from that like, well, I guess a couple of things happened. Initially I was thinking like, oh, maybe i'll switch from PS four to PC if that, you know, assuming that version looks a lot better. And then it didn't look well okay, so that's that's the other thing that happened, right, is on one hand, I was like, okay, this version of the game doesn't look that much better, Like it still has the same weird draw in and a lot of the same flying around PIXELI kind of like, that's that's really the reason why I was trying to or why I chose the PC version is that I was hoping to alleviate that draw and stuff. In fact, it's a it's a ram problem. So if I just throw a ram at it. It'll be a you know, I know nothing about I don't like any games do that that style. I just think it looks nasty. So it still does that. So I was like, Okay, well I guess I guess that's out. And then top of that, I don't like the game enough to want to start over. Really, was that where you're at now? Yeah? Uh yeah, it was a thing of like, okay, I like I was left at a point where I'm like, I'm not actually sure how much more of this I'm gonna play? Period? Really? Uh so, so starting over as a non starter other than I uh installed getting over a cheat engine. Uh, here we go. I downloaded a cheat engine table for it. I heard about this inventory stuff is super fun, so yeah, it'll do inventory it Basically, it'll let you ignore crafting restriction restrictions and make whatever you want. You know, it'll give you as much credits as you want, always be able to jump jet and all that. But the cool thing was infinite jet pack. Yeah. I guess people were jet packing out of the atmosphere with it and just space. Yeah. Uh and it's just you know, distance your next plane at eighteen years that's pretty awesome. So I did that for a while and then said everything to one hit kill and just a great, great just spill on the table, all right, Yeah, somebody's got to do it. At least it's sparkling water. It'll be fun. Cap. The one hit kill was fun because I was just said, turning on the mining beam and just blowing up every tree around me as I spun around, and you know, you want to talk about ways to make that game run even worse there it is, but I don't know that like that, So that was fun and I might mess around with that at some point. That does that break games for you? Would you just eliminate any of the challenge so that game specifically, because that whole game is your inventory limit, like the Without those limits in place, it is not a game anymore, you know. So uh so in that specific case, yeah, like like that was the other thing is like I played with that for a while, but that's neat, But I'm not going to keep with this because this is like what would I even do if I was looking to just get to the center of the galaxy? See the thing that happens when you get there and be done with it. That's how I would do it, because you could just do it very quickly. But I don't, like, I don't no that I care that much about that either. So the only thing actually keeping me going on it, or at least in the back of my mind theoretically keeping me wanting to play it, is that I look at the PS four trophies and think like, oh, I could actually probably get most of those. I think the trophies are very like intelligently designed, yeah, because none of them are like weird specific tasks that you have to like brute force or grind. It's all just stuff that you will get by plane. It's all the milestone stuff. Yeah, it's very organic into the game, so smart. So I was looking at that and going like, oh, you know, maybe I could probably get a Platinum trophy in this, Like I still haven't fully documented one planet let alone. Yeah, that one in particular is Yeah, I think I haven't really hung up on you have to do. I don't know how anyone knows for the for the gold trophy, but I hit a planet yesterday with twelve species on it, and I found eleven of them in like thirty minutes. I finally found the last one, but it was a flying species that are utterly impossible to scan. Yeah, you have to gut it, Dad, they were they were flying high enough and I couldn't get up on top of a hill and like my bolt caster or whatever, like just couldn't connect from that distance, and like and then they despond and I was just like, maybe I will stop playing this, like it was infuriated. Yeah. Yeah, I you know, I think that there are a lot of really neat things and no man sky. You know, there are some great moments in there, and I have had largely I have had a good time with it. Yeah, but I feel like I've seen everything there is to see, with the exception of the end game stuffy. So did cheat engine let you, like you said you could make any recipe, but did it give you all the recipes? It only let you make the stuff you already had. Yeah, so you couldn't see like in game tech or whatever. So yeah, so I didn't dig too too deep into I messed with the cheat engine stuff for like twenty minutes, and I was like, oh, I can boost. That's fun. Well, the procedurally generated stuff is the center of the galaxy is supposed to be harder to get. The features are more dangerous my understanding. I talk Alex about it a little bit. He didn't go in a lot of specifics, like he's played a ton of the game. He's writing the review. I think as we speak, yeah, he made a sound like things do get crazier the deeper you go. I think they kind of turned the tweak the sliders towards hostility as they get closer and closer to kind of ramp up the challenge. I wanted them to tweak the sliders towards weird shit, though you know, maybe they do. I don't know, Like I feel like I've seen zero weird shit. That's that's kind of what I was getting out last we get here are the nine buildings we created, and they will be at these outposts, and good luck those buildings. I mean, that's all built my hand. I don't mind that stuff so much, but it's more that's the stuff that totally breaks me on it, Like I would I understand why fifteen people couldn't make more types of buildings and stuff like that. Somebody send me a tweet about a space anomaly that was a metal planet like kind of we talked about Dipson spheres on NEWPF. Apparently it was a fully enclosed like desktop. Yeah, I love that story. That's that's the story thing. Anything labeled as an anomaly is actually yeah spoilers sorry, but you know, it's kind of like we talked about last week, Like you know, every planet has some version of a tree, some version of like four legged mammals like that's you know, here are all of the assets you will need to get off this planet should you find yourself here with no resources, Like yeah, there's zero a variance. And I'm still hoping that stuff opens up a little bit. It's like here we tweak the color. This one's blue, you know, like that's and and like I think that a lot of stuff looks really neat. It does so like it's capable of producing some like incredible just like screenshots and stuff, but the moment to moment or not even moment to moment, but like the exploration aspect of it is greatly reduced when you realize that you're going to find one of nine things in every single at every single question mark, Like okay, either this is going to be this type of outpost, it'll be this type of trading post. It'll be this thing here that's just got some resources. It'll be the trading robot, you know, it'll be the the pod where you can get an inventory upgrade. Like there's just not that much out there to find, you know, in an infinite world. You know that that seems like it should be teeming with possibility. You see all those things and go like, well and once I've seen, I'm sorry, I guess like my goal is not to to find cool stuff. I guess like moment to moment goal is to find the thing that I'm looking for, which is like herridium or yeah, so there is that. But I was gonna say, once I have my mental inventory of what all the things are that you can find in terms of like what the question marks can represent, like I then just started going from like beacon scanner thing to thing looking for drop pods like that's all I've been doing now. Yeah, just I just want as much studit inventory when when I when I view the issue through the lens of like, well, my the biggest hassle in this game right now is the inventory stuff. Then, yeah, you start looking for shelter at the at all the bypass hip things. You start looking for the drop pods because that's the easiest way to alleviate some of the or at least some of the inventory stuff. I mean, a bigger ship would help also, but those are very expensive, so the way to get those becomes That's where you, you know, theoretically, would have start making decisions about how you want to handle the endgame stuff. Is the balance between like do you want a bunch of money or not? And I think that that's that's interesting, But it's the stuff you do to get there and the hassles you have to deal with the maintenance you have to put up with on your way there that I I think is wearing thin for me. That and just knowing that, like like, yeah, maybe I'll see some cool generated animals and stuff like that, and I have seen a few that I'm like, oh, that's neat, but that's all it is, is gonna go And then yeah, for me, yeah, it's just uh, you know, gravy on top that there's all this interesting stuff, I mean interesting to a point. Yeah, Like if I if that was if I was going to the game specifically for that stuff, I'd be kind of disappointed. But it's sort of just like window dressing, because what I'm really trying to do is, like, you know, scratch that maximization itch of I need this, what's the best way to get that? And I, personally I had a lot more fun with the game once I stopped trying to I think I just like some switch in my brain flip that said I don't need most of the stuff in my inventory and got rid of everything except for what I was trying to spec for, and that that helped a lot. Yeah, I could see that. Yeah, Like I I enjoyed that game the most when I like engage it on its own terms and just play it as a video game. It's like, Okay, this game is an upgrade loop and that's what I'm gonna do. Yeah, Like there's a there's enough like terminal stations to buy things at that all. If you if you really need something, it doesn't behoove you to like keep it around in your inventory because you can always buy more of it, or that becomes a sub goal for you to go and find it, or you just go, oh, I found a giant uh you know this giant uh veins spi of gold and do you mind all that? In five minutes? And then sell all that and buy what you need. Sure. Yeah, But I think the problem with that style of play for me is that I got to a point where it seemed like I was bouncing because of the way the upgrade, Because upgrades upgrades take up room and your inventory. I then got to a point where it's like, well, I don't want to fill up my inventory with all these upgrades, right, That's that's kind of the disconnect. I've been head and I don't need any of those upgrades, Like like that was the realization was like I don't actually need any of this shit. Uh, you know, there will be hostile things on the planets that might try to kill me, but unless that stuff ramps up greatly, you just run, yeah, or or you know, you shoot a few of them and run. You know, it's not like that stuff's not a problem. So like getting a bunch of EXO shoot upgrades to make myself more resilient in combat, or getting a bunch of tool upgrades that make it a you know, better at shooting, like that stuff doesn't change the game for me in a meaningful way. Have you ever gotten the wanted level above? Like I think three is the high I've had the dogs show up a couple of times we're about dogs, and then I think I maybe saw the big walker like once. Yeah, but the of those things being such that like you run inside a building or your ship and it's done, Like that's not that's not a problem, you know, like they don't give you a reason to get those things other than like, well, theoretically, these are the things I should be getting, Like unless you're telling yourself like I need these upgrades because this is the video game, Like you don't actually need those upgrades. I could see maybe wanting to get ship upgrades. Uh, but that's primarily because I think a lot of the space combat is just a hassle. Yeah it's I haven't died from it yet, but I see first one, I've not died eight fighters. Okay, I've had like five. I bought off four. I think that's the most I've like had at one time. And like then it just becomes inventory management in mid combat where you're like, oh, I need to refill my shields. A good thing I kept all this iron. Yeah, so you know, like I just of the things you can do in that game, I feel like they are not designed in a way that is complimentary or particularly interesting on their own And and that's the big problem for me is that, like the upgrades are not great, but also they take up inventory space. But maybe I don't need that inventory space because all I really need is enough stuff to fuel my ship and keep moving. I've got these stones that I'm hanging onto. Uh and yeah, uh yeah, I mean I could spend hours looking for goal. Yeah, I could spend hours like mining the shit out of everything and selling it and using that as the way to get chips. But I think at the end, I just kind of realized I don't actually need any of this stuff, which is actually I think one of the lessons the game is kind of trying to teach you. That's like story stuff that I won't get any deeper into. But like, you know, I think that's that's that stuff is done for a reason. But I like the limited inventory yuf. But but I also think that that makes it a less interesting video game, or or it is it is because it because it then becomes more of a focus on fucking round with your inventory and maintenance and all that sort of stuff that is not fun to do it any game A lot of resource crind. Yeah, and that's that's yeah. I think that's my big problem with it is that there's so much potential there. And if you looked at this as like this was their first early access release, yes, this would be amazing totally. You know, it's exactly how I'm starting to view this, other than the fact that hey, they charge success for it at retake, right, Yeah, they're selling on a disc. I mean, hey, you know they sold Paragon on disc. Right, that's not a finished game if all bets are fucking off now, right, I guess. So. Yeah, Like when you look at the features, even in that first update that they're teasing, who knows what they've got planned out exactly like a year from now, what is this game could be incredible? And that's been you know, we we put up that quick look of star Bound, and I thought about star Bound as its first early access release compared to where it is now, and yeah, it's nine and day in a lot of ways, but the basics of star Bound were in place a little bit better then than No Man's Sky is right now. Yeah. And also, I mean you run into the problem that's inherent to every early access release of like what if you get your fill of it when it feels not quite finished exactly, and by the time all that stuff is in there, it's like, well, I finished the Atlas Path, I got to the center a year ago, Like I don't. I'm not going to come back just to grind credits with my freighter and that's yeah. That's the other thing is I look at it is like, man, if only they added like another twenty encounter types at locations, like here are another twenty location types in the game of Like hey, you might see aliens arguing with each other and maybe you have to step in, you know, like you might see more than one NPC in the same place, you know, like like other stuff like that that they could do, you know, other than like hey, here's an abandoned building. It's got goo on it. You're going to get a recipe. Great, Yeah, like that, you know, every single one is like that. I've seen like of the of the like sat math problem. Yeah, looking things I've seen. There's one in particular that I've seen like five times exactly, no variation. I just like crazy, like I figured it out the answer the first time and then I just punch it at that every time. Fucking craze it's wild h that that that that that is this game like, or that this game is so expansive and yet so limited in the things that you actually do and see, Like that's the stuff where it's like, man, how how did this get out the door? I think that's exactly what's hanging people up because those two things are very incongruous. Yeah, because you've got this gigantic galaxy, right, but my moment to moment decisions are very one note, like I'm all right, I'm going towards this, and like personally I'm having a fine time with that, Like uh yeah, going toward one thing, getting it all right, what's the next thing? Now? I'm just chipping away at that, like I can kind of just relax and do that total. But like you're right, when you're sitting in this expansive galaxy, it feels a little like it's not fulfilling. See every single scene, you see the parts where this was made by a you know, fifteen people or a dozen people, however many people it is. You see the small team in those things you see where like the expansiveness of it is tuned math right, and then the things that they actually reached out and touched are incredibly light and slight and repetitive. So so, like I said, I understand the lack of variation and all that authored content like the NPCs and locations and stuff, but but that's where it would be a lot easier to forgive that stuff if the procedural content and the exploration based part of the game held up. It's into the bargain, which I really don't think it like the the biggest like pivot for me with this game. The hardest thing I had to do in resetting my expectations was realizing that the space exploration stuff is a complete nonstarter. Yeah, like there is no exploration, Like I was hoping for a little bit of simile. You can scan in space, right and maybe you'll find a building to go to. Guess what that building's right, But I feel like every time you show up at a new system, it might as well be a menu. Yeah, like you you you roll into a new system, like invariably there will be one planet right in your face that you can land on right away. There will invariably be a space station at the far end, and like maybe five other planets, and like other than fighting off pirates to and fro as you explore, like you might as well pick those off a menu and hit X and just like warp there. Yeah, Like flying around in space is not it's not interesting or exciting. It's yeah. I like I was hoping for like sort of tie fighter at least level, like kind of managing ship systems and like kind of plotting coordinates and stuff like that, and like there's none of that stuff. It's just not. Yeah, it's very arc shooting asteroids. Yeah, that stuff's fine. Like it's fun to it's kind of fun to space mine a little bit, but like, yeah, more resources cool, that's yeah. I just I don't get a lot of satisfaction out of filding the ship in between planets, like I hope I would. Yeah, Like once you kind of take off out of atmosphere once or twice and see that transition and go that's cool. Uh yeah, you're done. Like ninety percent of the value in the game is on a planet looking for stuff. Yeah, but even that again, like that that just gets back into that stuff's not that valuable either. Yeah yeah yeah, So I you know, I think that they'll probably end up in a better place with it than they are right now. In terms of just like stability and all that other stuff. I'm excited maybe about the things saying like, hey, we just hired a QA team that's even bigger than the team that made the games. Like, yeah, stuff like that is promising. I mean it's still like the top seller and Steam you have to assume they're going to actually follow through and support this thing for a while. Yeah, because because it seems to be doing so well. Yes, it was one of the highest concurrent players on Steam a miney game this year. Geez, like two hundreds something. That's impressive. Yeah, So I mean for for a single player game, first thing, for a game release this year. So I don't I'm like that stuff's not coming into play. I mean that's higher than DODA for sure. That's tif is still of course, but I mean that influsion of infusion of cash. I like it influsion. Yeah, we'll probably ende of cash, yes totally. But that's also like I feel like a lot of that was predictable in a way that maybe like the idea that the QA team didn't start until I want to say, I was like yesterday or or late last week, like post release. Well, I don't know, I don't know anything about their financials. Maybe they were stressed super thin, but it would have thought they could have gone and got the loan to pay the QA company or said like, hey, we're about to release this game. That's gonna do that's gonna bring in this amount of money. Let's get this team in place right now and have them start working on the game prior to release, instead of releasing a mess on PC and then happened to fix it. But I don't know, like the technical issues and that sort of stuff is is a bummer, But my issues with the game are not those. It's the fundamental here's what this game is. Stuff that I have my my real problem with I don't want to sound super down on it. I'm still really enjoying it, but like I played it really hard for the first two days, just like every spare minute. Yeah, And knowing I had to then go out of town a couple days later, I was at first, I was super bummed. I was like, man, I don't want to be away from I'm gonna bring my Vita and try to like remote play it or something. But by the time my trip rolled around on Thursday morning, I was like, you know, maybe a few days away from this game is actually what I need. Yeah, so I took the weekend away with it ease, i'men working on day sex. Yeah so I have not touched No Man Sky outside of fucking with a PC version a little bit here and there. And yeah, like it almost broke me of it completely. Oh well, I meant more like it. But also I think this game is is ideally played in a like this game is ideally played for a couple hours at a times, like a few times a week or so a few times a week while you're doing something else, while you're listening to a podcast, or you've got TV and the other monitor or something like that. Like the game is light enough that it is, like said, I had a lot of people asking me like, oh, man, wouldn't No Man Sky VR be amazing, and like like yeah, it's technically all possible, and like I you know, the idea of you know, being immersed in this huge galaxy, I see why that's like something people would ask. But no, you would be bored to death because you can't do anything else. You can't look at anything, Like if you were locked into just that and nothing and nothing else, Like that's a that's a game that my phone is out of my pocket while I'm playing bare minimum Man, because while I'm holding down the button to fly to another system, I'm doing other shit. Sure, and and I just don't think the game is compelling enough on its own to be anything but that right now, so and and and the ways that they are attempting to get you engage with it, with the space combat and all other stuff, I don't think any of that stuff that great. So yeah, like I I have enjoyed my time with it as well, but I think it is like gravely flawed at the same time. You know, it's it's really cool, It's really there's a lot of neat stuff in there. But you see that neat stuff in the first two hours. Yeah, and then you just see it over and over again for until you finish it, or finish it or decide you've seen enough. Right, and so, where's that sand worm? Right? Have you live? Have you kept up with that? Oh? Yeah, I'm like, look kind of an ongoing player ever to find the sand worm? The idea that you know, like, that's exactly what I'm talking about when I say that there I wish it was more variety of the planets, you know, like like and some people going back and watching old trailers and stuff like that, which obviously you know that stuff is years old, and is you know, representative of the target renders or not representative of the final gameplay any trailers, they said very recently when people ask them about that thing form specific giants, they were like, yeah, giant animals are out there, They're super right, But like, you know, you see these trailers and you see a lot of very gentle movement and all this other stuff, and then there's a video of someone comparing like the fucking walking dinosaur things viral sensation, and you're just like, man, that looks really great. And then you see something clipped into the fucking world, uh fucking jittering around, and you're like, that's the Yeah, that's the game I'm playing. Most of the animals have been fine for me. Yeah, I haven't seen a lot of super crazy stuff hopping giant mushroom wow, which is pretty great. Okay, I've seen four planets with hopping giants. Yeah. It's yeah, man, it's it's a shame. It's a shame. I think that game, you know, it had the promise to be something incredibly special across the board, and I think, you know, it could get there eventually, but I think by the time it gets there, everyone will have moved on. Uh but whatever, Like it's selling, so I'm gonna do the opposite. Keep on it, come to it in six months. Yeah, that's that's that's that is probably the advice I would give someone right now over every game. Yeah, it sounds like there will be way more to do in there by the like even the idea of being able to build your own base and have like a home planet you could go back to and do stuff there. Yeah, it sounds like, I mean, the first deals help help quite No, No, they've said that stuff's all gonna be free. They've been talking about housing an warcraft for twelve years, like I don't know, well, hopefully not an MMO. This is as recent events have shown, this is clearly not not that or is it man like that the thoat that like people are still trying to figure that shit out. I've heard that people have visited other people's planets, but I know nothing happened, Like we're on the same plane at the same time and there's no interaction still, but the servers have been fucked up, so it's hard, like maybe there's something that's supposed to be there. Well, somebody down Reddit said it would only take one person one week to get on that. Hello games, Sure, easy enough. I always figured that it would be something like Fable where you would just see some representation of another player in your mids or something and but not necessarily be able to really interact. What kind of run right through it though, Yeah, yeah, I always forget it would be that sort of thing if if anything, but I think I would be okay with that. But at the same time, in weeks, but that does nothing. What do you you know, like to what ends? Yeah, that's the other thing, Like if you trade with players, you know, establish an intergalactic trading network and have fucking resource prices affected, have player real interactions, Yeah, affect the economy dynamically. That would be crazy. That would be awesome. I'm curious, did well. I'm curious when people really dig into the game files and see what the spawn codes are for the very very rare stuff, Like you know, I played the only procedural game I've really played a lot of us Lunky, and I read it Derek Hu's book about it, and he talks about how, you know, setting the probabilities for certain things that happen is a big balancing act because you want to have some stuff that's really not very common. But it sounds like these guys have probably put in some stuff that if you're going to visit, you know, one hundred planets during the course of this game, you have to have some stuff as one or two percent er less than that. Sure, and I'm sure if somebody at some point and the fun I think of looking in on it from outside is going to be the people who find really really crazy shit and share that kind of stuff through YouTube or whatever. But so far, it doesn't sound like anything Like I've been keeping an eye on it, but not not anything too close, and I haven't seen anything. Yeah, Like, if anything, the Internet is remarkably good at beating expectations for finding stuff like that, right, Like, yeah, you know, viral or like a R game, stuff always gets solved like way faster than it should. Yeah, then it's been a week and nobody's really found a lot of super crazy stuff. So maybe that's a service side thing where they can set some stuff up the mock at certain times. Maybe I know they said that this wasn't required A PS plus, so it's not really A doesn't mean you can play. Yeah, well in that case, yeah, I know, all right, yeah, everything i've I mean, and that's the weird part, where like if they've procedurally generated this world in advance, uh, you know, if they were to try to go back and add new things to encounter, how does that work If they've already kind of determined what the world is. Maybe your your version of the planets has the locations in different places or forms than other people's. Maybe that's the part that's random. The entire current galaxy has taken place inside of snow globe, and then you're gonna wake up at the end. All right, Well, we don't want to spoil the whole New Galax, spoil the end of the game through the insane clown polics. You play anything else? Yes? Uh. If if managing ship systems bread in a spaceship is something that you said you'd be into, have I got a game for you. It's called Rogue System okay, and it's basically digital combat simulator in space. Wow. Oh yeah, that's the extreme other end of the spectrum. Yeah, I haven't played too much of it. I've only done like a couple of tutorials here, but I you start in your ship, not in the seat of your cockpit, but in zero gravity, and so you're like the mouse cursor is really slow, uh, sort of simulating how you would turn, and then you you click to sit in your seat, but nothing everything is off like all the you it looks like you're in a room because there are no windows. There are screens instead, kind of like Titan Fall. Uh. And then you have to look up and press a button to have the control panels come down from the ceiling in front of you. And only then can you start turning on ship systems and stuff. And there are as many buttons, if not more than like something like TCS war Hug. It's a sane Yeah, so far, I've only gotten to like moving the ship around and haven't even touched weapons. It is. It is nutsn't really access thirty bucks. Anyone is insane enough to check it out. I'd have to take a look at that, Jeff. Yeah, it's been going on. Oh gosh, I don't think you can talk about Uh yeah, so, uh, what else have I been messing around with? Minecraft is out in VR now. Oh, do that actually come out? Yeah, straight up, it's it's in beta form, so they just which means they just put an extra disclaimer at the front of it, going like I don't know, don't you might get sick? Who knows what headsets? Is it out on rift? Just rift rift? H Yeah? I actually I did a deal. It's it's on the Oculus Store and I think that's the only version that's VR. So I I installed it from the Windows ten store when because they put out that announcement there like yesterday saying hey, it's it's happening, and I was like cool when installed it and it didn't do anything. But then I saw it later in the day it went up on the Oculus Store, so I picked up that version. They do an interesting thing right now where you can hit up on the dpad to go from like immersed three D you know what. You would expect it to be a first person game. In VR two, it pulls out and then you're looking at it at basically you're looking at Minecraft on a screen inside a room what uh, and they called the living rooms. Minecraft has been a simulation the whole time, basically, Yeah, so you can kind of pull out and play it like you always would play Minecraft looking at a screen. It just so happens. You're in a Minecraft, you're looking room. Is there a movement differences between two like yeah, is it teleport and no it is not teleport, it is, but they the default option is like turning it set intervals so when you tap the right stick to tick, click click, which a lot of games do to try to be anti Nasha. Yeah, yeah, a little bit better about not getting you sick, because the turning stuff is what gets people going. But they have the option in there to just have it control the way you expect. So I turned that on immediately because it's a little slower moving, Like I started getting a little hot around the collar with Quake in vas because the movement speed was so fast and it was a it was a little much feel the Blood Surgeon. Yeah, yeah, I didn't have any issues with with Minecraft with its like more intense control scheme turned on, which, as it turns out, is just Minecraft. Uh So. The weird thing about that is, like you know, like if you're under something and trying to dig up, you have to look up, you know, because you're you're you're not there's no up and down right stick movement for that stuff. Uh So I found myself actually like if I was going to be craning my neck back with this thing strapped in my face for a long time because I'm digging my way out of a hole or I'm you know, digging out a tree from underneath it or something like that, that's when I would pull back to the living room view because then it's just you know, standard control. So it was nice to be able to toggle back and forth between those two things for that. So I think that's that's pretty smart. Otherwise it's Minecraft. Otherwise it's Minecraft, like being up close to the stars as you dig them out, kind of cool. I was like, man, that's neat. Yeah, all right, it's minecrat And it's that Windows ten versions of Minecraft, which is the more locked down Xbox Live pay for Minecraft Realms Servers version of it. That's not like the old Java version or whatever it was, which you know, they sell skins for it and all the other stuff. It's basically like the console versions of Minecraft brought back to PC more or less, isn't. The Hollow Lens supposed to be hitting sometime relatively soon. It is out for developers if you want to pay three grand, you can get a hollow Leans right now, but you know, good luck doing anything with it. I don't know what it kind of make your own go to roll your own exactly holograms. I don't know that the hollow Lands will ever have a true consumer rollout. I think it'll be something that they put out for developers too, surgeons, yeah, or enterprise you know, like like you know, businesses that want to do something with it. I think it was really cool when we tried it at D three, but I just don't it felt too prototype, Like the field of view was so low. That was that was the deal breaker from me that you just you couldn't you couldn't sell that to actual humans. Uh, we'll see. I don't know that that type of r stuff like that's like what magic leap. There's that stuff not to not to leap motion. That's the finger thing. Magic Leap is the blast onto your eyeballs stuff they're making in Florida. That's the one that everybody keeps talking about in hush tones, like people have seen this is the thing. I've heard it, I've heard it's not where it is where it needs to be yet okay, And I mean obviously it's not out otherwise, you know, but but that it's got some real cool stuff. I don't know, it sounds like a tablet made for four year olds or something like that. Well, you know, I don't know they're I think I get the impression that they're just like not wearing shoes in the office and walking around like those type of techno hippies. But I don't know. Uh that was that Wired article a while back. But Graham Divine is over there, okay, working on stuff there, so among others working on biodigital jazz. Yeah, I don't know, we'll see. I think the R stuff is potentially really awesome some day. But you know, the more you think about VR, I think that that's got the potential to be incredibly awesome someday, just because the software. I think the thing that's happening for me with VR is that like the time I'm willing to spell, like it's it's become an occasional thing, like like looking at no Man Sky and stuff like that, like the notion of just like yeah, I want to play this big long thing and be in VR for hours and hours and hours. Now I'm a little more realistic, just like that doesn't actually sound great. That sounds like a hassle more than anything else. For as awesome as the tech is, I think the I don't know what kind of software will thrive in VR anymore. I used to feel like I had a pretty good idea of like where it needed to go. But as it's going in that direction and I'm playing more of those games, it's just like, this is all amazing. It's great that this stuff exists. It's awesome that we can go out and buy this stuff. I have no idea what like I picked up like that was the first time I'd put my rift on in weeks. I had to remember, like, oh right, this thing's just been hooked up under here, this sitting I'm weird. I can look at that like jack in anytime I want crazy. I can jack in any time I want. Yeah, and I'm not yep totally, that's yeah. I had had some family members coming through here a couple of weeks ago, ranging an age from like thirty to gosh, I don't know, early sixties or something anyway, like people that have never touched any of that stuff. Yeah, I left them try the lab and tilt Brush, and their minds were completely fucking blown. They all came out of it going like I'm gonna go get one of these immediately, didn't quite immediately have the heart to tell them like you've kind of seen what there is. Yeah, I mean there are stuff, but yeah, this is none of it. None of it exceeds like the level of depth that you've just witnessed, Like you've kind of seen the best of the best already. Yeah, some extent, it's it's just weird. I mean, I'm I'm kind of a different boat than you guys are in terms of I don't have to play anything the day it comes out. I'm not really creating content on this kind of stuff, So most of the time I just wait nine months to a year after a game comes out. And VR. VR could be an incredible place a year from now, just even like games in general, I think it's an incredible place right now for specific people and people that will want specific types of experiences and stuff like that. Like the software has really come a long way, and you know, I look forward to seeing what the release of PlayStation VR does. Yeah, that that's gonna be huge and stuff like some of the random stuff like like the fall Out VR thing, you know, like, yeah, finally we will get some big, two hundred hour epic role playing game that also sounds like the last thing in the world I want. Well, that's the thing. We need to see how they execute it, and like maybe they have ideas for how to make that work in VR that which game we haven't seen four they're they're they're reporting it. But I think that's the thing that changed with me, is like the idea of playing a full long game in VR no longer sounds appealing. I mean, if that's the case, then that's just like as like you know, as like an optional thing that I can do. In some cases, that sounds cool, but it just sounds it sounds like a fucking hassle like that. That sounds like a bad sign for the future of the technology. If you're saying, like this is just not something I want to spend lots of time. Yeah, well, I think, you know, I think maybe that speaks to just like how I play video games point blank of just like you know, I'm pausing a lot and getting up and doing stuff. I'm you know, I'm like, oh, I'm gonna pause, and I need to take this phone call, I mean pause, walk out of here, like the uninterrupted stretches, like I'll play a game for eight hours straight, but I'm stopping a lot along the way to do stuff and you know, for for a minute here, a minute there. So the idea of just like I'm gonna just go away for this chunk of time, it's just not even realistic for my lifestyle right now. And that I think is going to prove to be an issue for that stuff. I mean, they can technically do it, right, I mean, yeah, they'll get fall Out four and VR and you'll be like, this is amazing that I can probably you'll probably physically look down at your risk the fucking works. I mean, you know they've they've got all this stuff, the software is all there. But I bet you won't even do that because I bet it'll be because well, did they do the dude well with is it five or is it I think that that was like weirdly up in the air. I think the wording was kind of ambiguous around that. It's that they're doing it for Scorpio, I think was the thing. So that would theoretically lead to if you look at the partnerships and the way they're in place that might be innocuous, then those controls will probably be out. All I know is after the Fallout four UI on PC, I don't even want to think about what that's gonna look like. Like I have been on record, like the fall out for UI on PC was was garbage, hot garbage. There's a lot of things about fall four that I don't know how they'll they'll fix that up. But if you have eighteen hundred items in your inventory and you're like scrolling through a V I mean, and you're holding one arm like this and going like this with the other one, yeah, no, one's gonna be Yeah. The I think Fallout four was was definitely the point where the pit boys stuff like they had clearly prioritized like kitch over functionality to point that I was like, this is not good. I bet the base building could be really cool. I think that having a under UI for that kind of stuff in VR and placing stuff in VR would be would be Unlacing stuff in VR is one of the best things you can do. Yeah, like building shit, like painting like like that stuff is when that stuff is done right, that's the magic type of moment where you're just like, holy shit, I'm fucking creating. Yeah, Like till Brush is still I think one of the best showcases for VR. Yeah, that's when you have your fucking shoeless, techno hippie moment of this like I'm making music over here, and look at this fucking roller coaster and I'm building this and painting this, and look at these giant dicks I'm making. Like all that stuff is awesome future awesome. Yeah, I only go back and play followed four Like I was so turned off by the U I just haven't picked it up, and I've been kind of going back and trying to hit some of my backlog. I ended up using the mobile app when I played through that game, and I had my iPad sitting there because it was a great subscreen like map. It wasn't always great for manipulating inventory, because it was just that UI removed from the game and put onto a screen on that thing up. But being able to have an active map open at all times actually made the game a little bit I'm sure easier to manage. It was more for me just the fact that you were still like even on the PC, you know, playing at fourteen forty three items of my amatory in time, and it was like trying to scroll this stuff was such a nightmare. I've said that many many times, and I just need to go back and install it and get all the best mods. So that's one of the things. Like I don't know if no Man Sky is gonna be modeble or anything like that, but I know you said cheat engine necessarily that kind of I saw. I don't know if it was an actual, like you know, modification to the game or a photo shop, but someone who replaced the font with comic sands. Good good, that was. That was. I was so fucking bummed the first time I walked up to one of the robot terminals and they weren't using fixed sys for the robot speech anymore. It's like some other monospace font. Oh yeah, real bummer. Uh, Jeff, you played much else. Adventure Capitalist is now available on PlayStation four. I am embarrassed to admit how much I have played of that. That's twenty four hours played. I mean it's good, you do stuff, Yeah, I said as an idol slashing criminal game one of the best ones I think in recent memory. It's weird because I never played it on an iOS or on mobile, and then but I play a lot of Doomsday Clicker and they're like those games are the same. Yeah, they totally absolutely. There's like a lot of one to one analogies of like, oh, mutants and one are angels in the other. And then yeah, so yeah, every game has their prestige currency. You know, Egg Incorporated has like fusion Eggs or whatever it is. You know, they've all got that ship. Every every single one has the exact same stuff. So that's out if you like looking at the numbers go up. It is like the most spartan thing of just like and they have you know, it's the exact same UI they use on phones and on Steam and you know everything else where. You know, it seems like something that is like much better suited for a touch screen because it's not really a tapping game per se. Uh, it's you know, you just start are getting things going. You quickly automate all of the position and uh, and then the numbers start going up. Here's my pro tip for the PlayStation four version. It doesn't care if you're connected to the internet, and so you can just sit your clock ahead to like say twenty thirty five. I had mindset to like twenty seventy seven at one point, because I was stepping further and further into the future, and because I have played a lot of this game in iOS and I'm you know, I'm not gonna start over fucking scratch, that's crazy. So I was mostly just like, well, I'm just gonna cheat myself far out of head to where it really gets going, which is ridiculous because it never really gets going. You just kind of click on the things and watch the numbers go up, and it's it's really crazy that it's on a PS four. But it's also like when the numbers were going up real fast, it was a little sluggish, like it's just the PS four really, yeah, just the ui it started, it was a little hitchy moving around. Its unfortunate. Yeah, but that was only one time. And once the numbers get sufficiently high enough, they don't count up super fast on screen because they're they're going at such a rate. This one thing. Computer is a bad at it's it's counting. Yeah, obviously terrible. My first experience getting trophies out of a free to play game on the PS four, which is kind of fun. Yeah, yeah, I didn't know you could do that, yeah, hockey and pay for in that game. I mean you buy currency that does stuff you buy basically like multipliers on the currency, so you get it faster. Yeah, you speed the game up. It's like every other fully free play game almost in existence. You pay, you pay money to make it, you pay money to play less of it is. Effectively I could play less of this thing only I could get tired of this thing faster. I'm gonna give you five dollars to let me do so. Yeah, I I I can't complain. I didn't have I had had my cookie clicker two point there for everybody somebody. And then it was the other one that just kind of came out like last week space jant No not space Oh is it only on the web? I think I've seen people space. It is space lab. I think it's called space lab. Maybe that's what I don't I know what you're talking about. I played through all of that. You got you get done with it? Yeah, I rolled rolled credits on. I like, literally there is an end. Yeah, so sorry, I finished that. I remember I had a problem with cookie clicker when I was setting my my computers. Uh power off setting you never high rating my computer because I wanted to keep on going forever? And did you ever install an auto clicker? No? I did not. I've heard about these. Yeah, I've got one on my laptop. How many for dire situation? How many clickers do your idol games? Do you think you could play while still playing No Man's Guy at the same time? Two? Okay, I bet I could play two man. Wow, that's an efficient use of time. Yeah, especially now that like I could be playing one on PS four, I could be playing No Man's Guy on the PS four, have something running on the PC, something else on your phone, something on my phone, and yeah you could. You could definitely do that. Great, No, no problems. Terrible if they were to integrate some kind of idol slash incremental experience into No Man's Sky, oh, it would be a better game. Man. Maybe that's what freighters are gonna be. Yeah, it was just a freighter. That was just what the numbers got higher on the freighter, whether you whether you were playing or not. Uh, that shouldn't be too hard to do. You just have have it be a shipping like tikes a week, just one person's time time like a week. Little cue able to get it done. Yeah, yea, or they could just fake it in. I have a number that goes up. There, you go random, here's your shipping. I don't I don't need the numbers to be real. I just need them to increase. I think I kind of want to make a clicker Okay, I don't know, Like I'm not I'm not one for the math. Go get GameMaker or something that. Just yeah, like I kind of kind of want to next year's Giant Bomb Game Roma Contest. Need to make it just all clickers for next year. Already, all idole games that just wrapped up. We have twenty twenty three games submitted to the Giant Bomb, the Game Game Jam, the Giant rom Game Jam. Yeah, we were talking about taking a look at some of that stuff. Yeah yeah, and we we somehow never looked at the ones from the second one, so we'll look at those while we're at it. Big. Thanks to have an HQ on Twitter put all this stuff together. Yea, and yeah, well I need to I need to put that up on Facebook to Twitter and everything. Yes, clickers though next year already we're already getting our clickers finger limbered up. Yeah, there needs to be a VR the cubes. The one with the cubes would actually be pretty time clickers would actually probably be a pretty decent VR. Yeah decent, Jeff, what no, ye of Metroid? Uh, it's okay. Planet Zeb's ZR eight thirty eight thirty eight eighty eight, SR seventy, Blackbird seventy one. You land on the planet to fight the Metroids, which are not it's you are not Metroid. No, you are, Sammis. Yes. Also, it's a lady in Iran and yes, I'll by the way, it's it's a lady in there, the Metroid, the last Metroids in captivity. The world is at peace. Yes, are there other errands or seamuses around? Are there other humans in that universe? Because I don't know there are? Yeah, now there are, like really emphasized like Metroid other m and previously. Yeah, also, whatever happened to Create? Yeah? I feel like Ripley gets all the credit all the same, Really, Riley, Riley Ripley does get all the credit the right Ridley gets the fame. Create is just yeah, Create is just Created out shooting spines all over the place. Yeah, somebody notices, so they're releasing a new Metroid game. Yeah, this week. Is that out this week? Yeah? So Metroid Prime Federation Force. I like Matroid Prime. Jeff emphasis on Federation Force. I like slip that Prime in there, just to make sure they got everybody they possibly could. Is retro involved at all? No, No, it's a different studio and it's a whole different thing, and it's what is what is that game? Well? I can't review it for you, Brad, but have it so I played through the tutorial and mission one so I can give you my preview related impressions of the game. It doesn't seem very good, fortunate. It's a four player co op game, Okay, it's a first person shooter with some kind of light Metroid touches in terms of lock on type stuff and some visory type stuff, but not really like scanning or notthing like that. Yeah, you go through these four player missions and kind of in a set. Uh you know that didn't the first mission didn't seem to have a lot of variety in terms of like where you could go. It was just like here's the path or the switches here, and there's only one way to get there, So get there, do that, do this, get out there and get through this door, fight this boss and then oh there's another boss and boy. It is a sluggish plotting game that takes place at about a third of the speed as you would want. And then you're playing it on a three DS, which is not necessarily my first person shooter platform of choice, so I assume it at least uses the NUB if you have the new Yeah, by default, it uses gyro controls, so you kind of hit if you hit the right bumper, you can then aim like that. Remember that what was that DS launch game, the metro game where you use the stylist to look around right, Yes, Prime Hunters, so yeah, yeah, familiar. Yeah, so this is yeah by default, and so it's it's like lock on with the left trigger, and then even in that case, you can finesse aim by holding down right and then tilting over. So if you had to lead a target or something, you can lock on and then lead it, which is not you know, the worst idea in the world. I ended up switching away from tilt controls and using the right stick and then you know, kind of reconfigures the buttons around that to be a little more first person shooter controllee type stuff that you might expect. So it sounds like the emphasis is on the shooting, like you're there to shoot stuff, not to explore it. Find there are enemies of the ground and you're shooting them, and then you get the end of the mission, and then you go back to the lobby and then you can go on to two. If you look at like it's a mission too, one of those few on rails or are you know, and you're not on rails, You're you were moving. But the one level I played was a pretty set path. So yeah, so I guess what I'm getting at is it sounds like a first person shooter set in the Metroid universe, not a Metroid game. I don't even like it didn't even feel like it was necessarily set in the Metroid universe. There's like one offhand reference to Sammis upfront where it's like you might remember her she's a famous bounty hunter and you're like, boy, But there's none of that, like you know, looking for secrets, the feeling of isolation, like the things that make Metroid. It's a four player cap game, Yeah, so the fight of the feeling of isolation absolutely not. I was playing alone because the game is not out yet, so so you know, it just got online play and then local multiplayer as well. If you feel people nearby difficulty spiker or so. They've got mods items that you equip on yourself to kind of change things up. If you want to do more damage with your missiles, you're gonna equip something there and and that sort of stuff. One of the mods that you get out of the gate is the lone Wolf mod that lets you do double damage and take half damage if you're but only if you're playing alone, which seems like that that's how they tuned it was to just give you an item that you're supposed to equip when you're playing alone, which is crazy. But yeah, I uh, that game has been getting a lot of shit from a lot of different directions since it got announced, since since E three last year, literally never even heard of it. Yeah, yeah, it says a lot of marketing well yeah, but the people that I have seen it, it seemed like there was a lot of people that wanted a Metroid Prime game that were pissed. People that wanted a more traditional Metroid game not happy with this. Also. I mean, even if they were going to make one of those two things, the three DS is not where I would want it at this point. Oh yeah, yeah, sure. And then also there's a blast Ball has incorporated into that as well as a separate game. It seems like it's just soccer within those similar types of controls. But I didn't try that Rocket League with Metroid, and I wouldn't go that far. That sounds a little generous. People like Rocket League, Yes, that's fair, people like Metrod. But thing a little bit cheeby, like a little twee It's got kind of you're you're a little guy in a Mex suit. And then both of those things are a little sda uh so yeah, game either, Yeah, I don't know that's out this week. That's a weird thing. We'll run a quick look at that thing. Strange product, but yeah, it seems like a really strange product, Like it seems like the sort of thing that and I don't know if this is something. It feels like a game that was not at all a Metroid game for a very long time, and they came one and then at some point they were like, why don't we just why don't we just slapped the Metroid skin onto the bays our market research? Yeah, I don't know, it just does doesn't seem to have that much in common with U with Metroid or Metroid Prime. I'm no Metroid Prime fan. I've never never been, but I would go so far as say, this doesn't even necessarily feel like that. What's the lumber full fledged Metric game? Was that other other m that was like five years ago? You, I mean if you count that, yeah, that was like five years ago. We had a video reviews. True, that's how long ago was video review? Yeah, metro games don't sell, it turns out, yeah, from the from the numbers I have seen, which it sounds like. Figures are always a little nebulous in this industry. If they're not directly reported, they almost never are. But it looks like metro games just don't sell. I think the other thing on top of that is that the game's primary base was in the US, and so Nintendo out in Japan has zero interest in Metroid because it doesn't sell there, so no one gives a shit about it. So there isn't really a flag bearer. There's no it doesn't sound like there's anyone there to champion Metroid and say like, let's fucking make great new Metroid game. Let's let the community do it and not shut them down. Now yeah right, yeah, yes, which yeah, obviously as many as many great like Metroid likes as there are coming out of like smaller indie studios like I wish they would just commission the team, like with a relatively modest budget, so so like make a two Demetroid. And they went and coined the term nindies for Nintendo indies. That's what they call the independent game. Like I'd eat Xbox, there's nindies. They like an official company understandings. That is, it's something that they have decided to use and in somewhat official capacity. I believe I could be all right, could be, but that's that's that's where I'm out with it. Maybe that'll bear some Metroid shape now. I think they've been using it for a while. It's not necessarily hey you work with our IP it's like, hey, you're an independent publisher, developer publishing on our platform. That's a NINDI. Yes, but yes, absolutely they should get I don't know, the shovel Night team, yes or something, you know, let them make them, let them make a two de Metroid game that would print money. But also I don't know that I would necessarily want like a pixel art old socks. I didn't have to be that I would like to see I could, you know, I could go with whatever styles on eye production, value, side scrolling new Metroid game done in the old style totally I would still be interested in that game in spite of you know, just despite their being a zillion games in that mold now, it still would be okay with seeing something from totally original. We'll get to it in a little bit, one of the originals. But it seems like there's some demand for that sort of thing. It seems like there's less. I mean, I think that a lot of demands being met, or maybe by all the other games in the marketplace these days. People still acting Verge for example, Yeah, hell of a game. Yeah, I started playing that on Vita last week. That seems it seems like a good port. I got lost a little bit. Yeah, I didn't. The game didn't click with me. I'm not sure all I just didn't know where to go, and I kind of still I got lost a couple of times. What have you been playing though, gosh lately? Yeah? A lot of works? Okay, Yeah, are you a World of or work CRAF two or definitely versus humans. Are you in the Legion Beta? No, I'm not actually really weird because I got I was invited like the press thing last time around for Warlords, and and this time I don't know if they lost me whatever. But I don't usually play a lot of the betas. Everything's fucking broken, right, and you kind of get your fill of it before the real thing comes out. You go up and you see a cut scene and it's just like insert cut scene later kind of stuff. So, uh, there's zero polish and everything's kind of busted. And the good thing about playing the beta is that you go through really quick. They want everybody get up to max level, so they let people just blast through it and then they addle the experience needs later on. But no happen in the beta. But all the stuff is popping up now. It comes out in like two weeks. Oh wow, Really, I'm looking at my watch, which is not have a calendar on it. Pantomime your confusion. So to get the point of Tuesday, I think twenty ninth thirtieth, I want to say for Legions, So all the pre release they had the big patch of a month or so ago, which did That's when they change every fucking thing and do all the talent and that. So that already happened, and now they're doing the rollout of the introductory scenarios and the quest lions that lead you up to what's going on in Leech and said, I don't I don't even want to ask. I don't want to know what. You gotta keep it a secret. How they'll be surprising, how they have spun the lord this time? Illaden man, he's bad. Oh okay, I was at the point in the cycle. Now they're just starting to recycle the bosses from four expansions, and I'm kind of I'm feeling that Lichgn will be up next, but nobody really knows yet. But wait, who's the lilych king right now? Bolvar four dragonlet that's well, so they killed Arthurst right, yes, and then somebody else put on that crown. Arthur's dad was in the frost Worn because he stabbed his dad in the heart, and you have to go into the frost Worn and get his dad out. And then when Arthist dies, his dad pops up as a ghost and says, hey, bro, it's it's cool. And then they go to heaven and even though he killed like a million people. So then Bolvar somebody has to be the lich king, so he puts on the crown and becomes a lich king because he's been tortured by Arthurs for like a long time. And he says, I'm gonna do it. Frees me up here, I'll be the lych king. And then he's off in north Rand and there the screwer just stile thing. But this is all something I'll be explaining soon on a stream of excellent great But is there anything in Legion you're super looking forward to. I have no idea what the features are. Wow more Wow. It is always a good thing. Uh So, it's basically Golden has been the big bad guy for a while now. He's been possessed by the spirit of Sargaris, which also was doing the Mediev thing too back in the day. So Garris is kind of a good guy now up there. Yeah. Uh so Golden is I think he just wants to fucking blow up our az are outh or something. So he's bringing all these demons in with that. Yeah. So he gets Illadent out of out of demon jail, and then that's a bad problem because it is really powerful. So the other thing they've added this expansion of the demon hunter class, right, Yeah, that's like the like the death Knight. Isn't like the deaths and Monks and demon hunters. Demon Hunters are are tanks or dps, but I mean similar similar, like, isn't it's one of those that starts at a high level. Yeah, not a starting class, so you're right there at the end of game, so you're can play as a demon hunter. About basically, what it looks like is that Golden is going to have Illadin probably turned it to the dark side because he was always kind of a weird between between kind of character, but I very much tortured anti hero. Pretty sure he'll be the the end end loss of the last Raid or him or Golden, I don't know. But are there any like good guys who are currently corrupted? Are we at that point that story arc? Yeah, there's a there's an old demon Hunter named Cordanna who has been corrupted by Golden and all these like evil forces. So you're part of the good guys. And at the very front of it, I think they kill off the one of the leaders of both the Horde and the Alliance. The introductory scenario they've done so far as really really well done. The cut scenes, especially oh there, I mean these aren't even see. Yeah, they've shifted a long time ago to doing nine stuff, so they have been really knocking out of the park on that kind of stuff. They've really really up their tech game over the last like twelve years. So so far water play it seems really interesting and every The big thing this time around is that you're all going to have one artifact weapon throughout the entire expansion. You're never gonna change it, do stuff to do it. It basically is like a separate talent tree you have. It's really there's like a bunch of different talents and you have to upgrade artifact power, and it's kind of like this asymptotic curve where the more pointsy spand you have to just keep on like that, hundreds of thousands of artifact powers, so keep grinding. Yeah, it's all looking pretty fun so far. I haven't done much of it for the scenarios, but I'm looking forward to the next couple of weeks. And I've been streaming some old stuff too on the site, so we'll try to go throw that as Eventually I'll get all those raids on there, say a raide respective, I think you're gotive. I'm having a harder and harder time coming up with the good puns, so it's pretty good stuff. Yeah. Apart from that, I've been playing a lot of Magic the Gathering Puzzle Quest on my phone and I also reinstalled with your three. I'm trying to do some of that Taller. I never got through much of I got like twelve hours, and it's just like, nope. I know. I know someone who recently played through the whole game both the also US instead of took him like two hundred hours, So I'm not gonna put them at the time the game of the editions coming out, Yes, yes, they did just announce like an on disc version of like everything, and I hear these save states are not going to be compatible, so I'm based probably probably just keep on going to mind, maybe get one of the dalcs or something like that. But yeah, I like, if you've got so much base game left to play, like he does something that makes that content more enjoyable or something like, there's no reason to bolt more onto it. And I wonder if the mods are gonna be in compatible, because I haven't really moded it yet, but I want to do some of the stuff that I've heard makes it easier, like infinite you know, inventory space and everything like that, and crafting makes it a little easier. But I like it better than the first time I went through. And I know everybody who likes that game likes it. Yeah, like the best game I've ever played. I've heard from multiple people. So I want to go back and see if I can figure out what the what the deally is there. But just dicket into it with that attitude was like, what's wrong with these people? That's always the best way to go into a game. I just don't like Gilt as a character, so that's kind of the big sticking point for me, Like I don't find him to do a Geary enjoyable to hang around with a one hundred hour games? Did you say puzzle Quest Magic the gathering? I did. It's a it's a mobile game. It's free to play. We were talking about free to play games earlier. It's fun, it's not bad. I used to play a lot of Magic back in the day, and they've kind of adapted the magic art and everything into a match three game, so it's just match three you're not playing magic at all. You are casting spells and summoning monsters that attacks, like they're kind of using some of the magic tropes as the man that they always do in puzzle quests. So you have your planes walker and they have different like you, A match three for Red will give you plus two on one character for man and like negative two on another character because they have different strengths and everything like that. My big problem with it is that that's you know, you have booster packs every day and they're common on common, rare and mythic cards, and the mythic cars are so much better than the everything that you get. It's it's I'm getting to a point where I'm at a that difficulty wall where i fight another character who has like thirty more health than I do and can summon like two ten ten creatures, and I'm like, god, yeah, four four cool, and I just get pounded. So I'm still so essential, is what you're saying. It's it's essential trunk. Oh yeah, but that's kind of my I don't want to play a lot of phone games, but I've enjoined that one quite a bit as a as a weird twenty minute thing here it's okay to play games on your phone. It is totally took me a long time to be socially acceptable. I'm still working my way through Desert golfing. I'll get to the end. At some point. I need to buy that. At some point. I started playing Grow Up yesterday, Yeah, the sequel to Grow Home. Did you really start playing it? Though? I heard you, not really heard you hit the start button they sent time, They sent a PS four code yesterday, you'd be softed, And I punched it in and download of the game and what started And within two seconds of the epilepsy warning appearing and hard crashed back to the PS four interface. Okay, that's great. They really don't want you to get up. They're like, hey, we think you might be susceptible to the No really, no, really, though the happened like a dozen more times. I've seen that Pokemon episode. No is that something is and that's very special. Episode of Pokemon was one that the whole family should watch together. Yeah it's the one they banned. It was so life life lessons. Life lessons are being taught, lessons in all those flickering lights. Yeah, I read downloaded the game, I rebuilt my database. I did everything you can think of that might fix a crash EPs four game, and then nothing worked. Uh. And then someone who would might know suggested to me, hey, what if you turn off your internet connection? Bingo? Is it a DRN thing? I have no idea. And I thought at first like maybe there was something weird but this build that this code redeemed for or something. But the game is now for sale on PSN. Yeah, and there are a bunch of people on message boards having the exact same problem. I wonder if you can't. You can't play that game while connected to the internet at all. It just crashes every time you Still, you think it's the size of the friendsless thing this. I have no idea soft game which has had that issue before that Tetris game Assassin's Created launched like there was that's kind of an ongoing thing. Yeah, I have no idea that. That's why the person who gave me those are okay, remember Tutris Ultimate, like maybe something like that. So that's why I tried that and it totally fixed it. You get a message when you started up offline saying like, no no network connection, you will not be able to use online features. I don't know what those are like because I am able to play it online. It's got Ubisoft Club stuff in it that unlocks so much like suits and stuff, some Rayman hats or whatever. I mean, that might be all they're talking about, but there may be actual online stuff baked into the game that I had no man, Sky of grow Home sequels. Can you launch it and plug the internet back in? Oh? I tried, so I went, so I didn't. I didn't pull the cable. I went into settings and just unchecked connect to the Internet, which is effectively the same thing I tried that I was in the middle of the game, I paused it. I went back and ticked that box to connect. Within like three seconds, it booted me out of the settings to a crash screen. Wow, Like the game crashed immediately once I re enabled the internet connection. And that's so crazy. So Ubstoft also put Uno out this week, which I want to play, and now I'm like, oh, man, I wonder if it's going to be messed up in the same way. I hope, hope it's someone I have not to check this out from myself, so take this with a grain of salt. I hope it's not true, but someone mentioned that the video features that you want out of an Uno game are restricted to friends only in this game, which, yeah, on one hand, I get Yeah. On the other hand, that totally fails to reduplicate the wild, wild setting of Uno on XBLA. I should be able to opt out of friends only on that They should. They should give you that that safeguard, but they should also let you hang and give you enough rope to hang yourself. Give me enough rope to rope to watch those Canadians do drugs. That's all I want is I want to recreate that one magical night I had playing Uno, or I watched like fucking large Canadians doing rails off of a glass coffee table while playing Uno and then eventually like kicking me out of the room or whatever when they realized I was not their friend, grinding their teeth a lot, yeah, manu. Anyway, so I finally managed to at least play Grow Up, and then it came out on Steam this morning, so I tried that version too. It's totally fine online. Also, that's the version you should play because it runs way smoother than that's a problem with the with grow Home on PS four right, does it just kind of yeah, I mean I fired that up jankily, Yeah, jankily is a good but like it, Yeah, this wasn't that's the perfect word, what a great word, because it wasn't unplayable, like yeah, it was okay, but like, yeah, I fired that up last night, Like that ran at sixty with hitches. They seem to have solved that problem here by just capping it at thirty. Which grow Up yeah on console, which normally, like I would not get obsessive at all about thirty frames per second and for like a third platform or like who cares, uh, but if you remember that game, like that game playing grow Home and then grow Up is nothing but like weird unfamiliar inputs right right, Like he stumbles around like a drunken idiot, like he's got all kinds of momentum on his movement. Yeah, and then like the handhold the climbing stuff is also like yeah, kind of a little bit unwieldy. If you take all that input down to like thirty hurts. Yeah, I'll feel it happened. Having that extra precision with a nice frame rate with such crazy weird like kind of unwieldy gameplay is really nice. Yeah, so if you have anything like a good PC, you each play that on PC. But it seems cool so far. I loved the ship out of Girl Home. I'm not totally sold on this yet because it's just more isn't bigger? I mean, there is more of Like the first game was like five hours long, so to do everything right and it was nothing but finding those crystals, which I think is still the most fun part of this game. Okay, that was when I when I saw it, like I eventually got to the point where the crystals result. That's that's where I kind of fell off of the game and was like, ah, you know, this is really novel and I like a lot of things about it, but I just I don't know that I want to I don't know that I want to go get everything. Yeah, I mean the thing for me was that the more of those you got, the easier it got to get them, because like they kept giving you better jet pack and like you got a lot more mobility options as you got them. So finding the last few was a problem. I've kind of open world at this game. It's kind of open world, but not like not like you'd be soft open world, like like I'm sure that triggers like images of climbing towers to reveal icons on maps doesn't happen. It does not have that, Like everything I've thought, all the icons are already on the map. I'll put it that way, all right. Anything there is to get already shows up on the map. But it is way bigger. It's a whole planet now, like if that first game, like the environment was super tiny. Uh, they've created a bunch of different biomes now, Like you can scroll the map around the planet from the get go, so like I can see, like there's there's an Arctic region at the pole, and there's a desert somewhere. Like that's cool, you know, like the game as an amazing art style, So they built all that stuff up. They added like the ability to scan plants, and there's like two dozen of them. And as soon as you scan a plant that you can then throw the seed of that plant anywhere you want and grow one. Okay, and that's super weird, yeah, because then you can like throw a plant down and then grow another plant out of it and create this awful monstrosity. Yeah, and it's all physics spaces how you get up basically, ok Yeah, every single plant I've I found like seven of them so far. Every single one of them is about ejecting you into the air in a different way. They all kind of do the same thing in slightly different ways. But that's kind of a cool aspect of it. Yeah, it's got challenges, like timed challenges, because if you thought what a game that controls is sloppily as that one does needs is timed challenges, I got good news for it. And if you're looking for side stuff to cram into your so no open world game like the the easy option is what if we added some time ship. So that's that's where that's where it's starting to like kind of lose me a little bit. And and and it's got a lot of content that seems like directly opposed to the way you play it. You know, you can't ignore all those you don't have to do them. You get stuff you I think you unlocked suits by doing the challenges, and the suits have different abilities. Oh oh well, wow, that sounds pretty cool. The first suit I got was a B suit, which makes like any insects in the area, like Horde like like kind of converge on you. So I had like a horde of like eight dragonflies following me around, which was kind of ridiculous. That's fun. I mean, it's got one hundred and fifty crystals to find again, so it's still got that, but it's a lot more spread out, and like maybe navigating the world is not as straightforward as it should be, yeah, because you're just so slow to get aroun You know, I'm gonna, I'm gon keep playing it and see what unlocks as I go. Uh it seems okay, Like I have been worried they were going to spread what made the first game good a little thin, right by going to this huge world, And it's kind of feeling that way to me so far. But you know, the core navigation stuff, the climbing is is still fun to do. But playing on PS four wait for the past, yes, or if you can play it at all, yes, Like I wait and see how this crash problem resolves today, because it's crazy that this game got out the door and is doing this for paying customers. They're supposed to have people in place that look for problems like this, and when things like that happened, say no, you don't get to put this out for sale, right, Like I don't understand how it's only supposed to have people in place that say, nah, yeah, I don't know. Uh again, like I checked a couple message boards and saw like it. It just it's only been out for like two or three hours at this point, but people that most people that have bought it seemed to be having this problem. So great, we'll do a little bit crazy, but we'll do video that soon of the crash screen. Yes, definitely cool. Uh. Lastly, does anybody want to talk about Doda? Who wants to talk about Doda? I understand they introduced a new hero who is not based on the disisting Doda. He's based on a League of Legends hero perfect not really awesome? Yes they did? Is it the DJ is a panda? It's the Monkey King? Okay? Son Wu Kong? All right? Is that it's like it's like Journey to the West Monkey King. It's like like Chinese mythology. So it's not really it's it's more that League has one of those, like a hero based on that. Also, so did Heroes of New Art apparently. So it's just like every mobile has got to have one of these. I guess sure. So yeah, like I guess calling it a completely one hundred percent original hero is kind of ridiculous. But with about the abilities, the abilities mat about stuff at all, it's gonna be like a big launch event in the fall like they do. They do events like Diartide and and yeah I saw the n Night and stuff like that. It's not that crazy like stage demo they did with those people dancing around and like playing sword sword fighting and stuff. Yeah, I'm I kind of want to talk less about like dot to the game and more about that event because it's fucking incredible, Like it has gone so far beyond for the weekend, Like what the finals two days. I got there Thursday morning, which was the last day of group stages, and then the proper finals, like the lower bracket finals were kind of happening. I heard the biggest come from behind victory to history or missed that game. I was packing to go to go to the International Wednesday night when that game was happening, and I just didn't think to put it on. Yeah. Uh. And like everybody I talked to who was there said a it was like the most incredible, intense like live spectating anything they had ever been a part of. And also like it's being widely hailed as like kind of the most exciting like esports match of any kind in history, like completely insane, unlikely back and forth comeback stuff. But just the entire event is like so incredibly well run at this point and like so many smart decisions being made around like everything they do there, which seems like you know, they had that that rough patch and that was that was Doda, right, had the like the Chinese event where like the fired Shanghai Major that was the one where Gabe came out and fired one of the casters and also like fired yard of shit along the way, fired the production company that was running the event, like on the spot publicly that thing was a huge mess. But I mean the International has always been good. Like I went two years ago and I missed in their backyard, Like yeah, he comes out on stage and yes, talked about VR apparently is that what he did. I don't know. My understanding is that he just got out So I have VRS big, Yeah, like they like they do it in the round now. Like when I was there, they had like a stage set up on the far end, so like you it was it was really easy to get bad seats where you could barely see what was going on, right, Yeah, like it's it's way easier to spectat everything that's happening now. But yeah, like stuff like that martial arts demonstration and like they had fucking like massive drummers, like just pounding on these drums like for the finals every time, like the pick phase like picks and bands, you know, like that thing takes like ten fifteen minutes, right and is boring as fuck? Well, do you really care about really into DODA, Like it's there's a lot to talk about. It's really crazy. It's really crazy to be in the middle fifteen thousand people who erupt in cheers, like based on a hero that just got picked. You know, it's the most bizarre thing. But like, I think the thing that I kept thinking as like all the stagecraft was taking place over the course of those three days was like they go so close or they come so close to going too far with like their self seriousness, you know, with like how dramatic they make everything. It's like if they just barely mismanaged any aspect of that thing, it would come off as incredibly cheesy and forced and like they were taking themselves way too seriously. But like they'd stopped just short of that. You know, I'm so like, like they have that martial arts presentation, they have the drummers, you know, they have so much like pomp and kind of gravity to everything that's going on, but they actually manage it just right. So it's it's weird to think the point that it's like incredibly exciting to be there. It's it's weird to think about that stuff as an aspect of a show like this, because I think the further and further they push into, the more and more I hear the term e sports, and the more I think about sporting events where something like that would seem insane. But then like the nature of DODA and its heroes and all that other stuff, That's why I feel like, you know, on some level, if you want, like sports fans to take esports seriously, the game needs to stop looking like a bunch of trees punching each other, yeah, and fucking panda's eating you know whatever it is, you know, and just go like, all right, here are the blue guys and the red guys, and go. All I know is that ESPN is pushing their coverage pretty hard now at the point where like the CSGO team just switched a bunch of players and then fired a bunch of and I was like, the second headline on ESPN dot com. Yeah, and that's it's the funniest thing in the world because you go into the comments on it, it's all Facebook comments, it's real names. People have no fucking idea why it's being covered. It's like when they used to like Magic the Gathering stuff on ESPN, Like, what the fuck is this? I just want to hear about football, and I totally agree. That's like, then go to slash NFL. It's on the it's literally the same website. There's a filter for you, dumbass. The ESPN comments sections are just I'm yeah, I'm sure. Like even when it's fucking on topic to fucking real sports, it's fucking a nightmare anyway. So, I mean, we've been saying it for the last couple of years, but it's the money that's making it matter now, you know, Like, yeah, Prize Pod was well over twenty million dollars for this thing. Like first place took nine million, second place took three and a half, And it's it's them putting a stake down into something that could go on to drag viewers their way in a way that you know, like I don't know that it Avatar ever actually will work out for them the way that they hope. I don't know, But like every time I took a cab or something in Seattle during that thing, and they were asking like, oh, are you here for this thing? Like all they wanted to talk about was the amount of money that was up right for poker. Had poker had huge place exactly now they can. Poker was huge on ESPN as well. Yeah, and now they apparently after that Black Friday thing where they all the online stuff kind of got shut down, nobody can sponsor poker anymore on ESPN. They don't have anybody who's willing to pay for for a sponsorship. So now basically I haven't seen poker on TV except for that that those weird like second rate bullshit kind Vince Van Patten Home Game Hero. So we need to get the involved. FBI involved and DODA prizes from shutdowns started looking at the Valves finances, well it was it was they they had controversy with the counter strike and stuff. I mean they I think they are trying to wash their hands with that stuff. We'll see. We'll see yet. You know, I said it when we when EVO happened. But like you know, ESPN used to cover Scrabble and they still cover spelling bees and all that sort of stuff. Like like it's they see their their trajectory going well down in terms of number of subscribers and number of advertising. I would do that. It's get anything they can. Yeah, it's funny that you mentioned and you've talked about this before, and I kind of agree with you, like the whole like using your internet name as your player name and like kind of not feeling like people these people are real people or like, you know, people respond better to hearing real names. I talked to a professional player that I won't name who basically said exactly the same thing. Yeah, I think there is some sentiment in the player base that that they wish they could kind of be seen more just like, hey, this is my actual name. They should change their Steam name, but their real name. Yeah, maybe I don't think they could give us. I guess they. I think that was kind of the solution. There are some There are a handful of players who do just go by like their middle name or as as their actual like their player name. Yeah. I I don't think that solves everything one way or the other, but I you know, I don't know. On some level, I wish that society would just catch up and then we could just pick whatever fucking cool names we wanted for ourselves. England, you can have whatever name you want. Yeah, yeah, And and like it's the Thomas Anderson versus Neo argument, right, it's what do you actually want to be known by at large across your entire life or do you want to have two separate identities and all that sort of stuff. And I think that that's that's a bigger than esports thing that that I think people will probably need to address one day in terms of what are names anyway? Yeah, that's fair. But but in this specific time, right now, twenty sixteen, esports trying to gain a foothold all this other stuff, I think fucking having a dude named Dendy doesn't make much sense unless he should legally change his name to he Hate Me No, to to Dendy Joe fucking Star Doda assass. So there's so many great names. There were some really good dumb names, but Dendy Johnson, actually I would love it if there was just a spat of babies named Dendy there came out of it, would not be surprised his international forms. Does Deny still play, Yeah, totally. His team has not hit like twenty seven or something and have to retire. There is a there's a twenty year eight year old player on EG that is referred to as old man. Okay, yeah, that's that's kind of where they're at with that stuff. But like being there makes you realize how incredible valve is that humanizing those players, like the name stuff aside, Like they've got all these bio videos that they roll into matches. They tell the story of the teams and like a lot of this stuff was really situational this year, but in the past, like the year I went, the finals were as boring as they could have possibly been, both in like the strategies that were used and also the fact that it was two Chinese teams against each other, so you don't even have like regional rivalries taking place, but they were like storylines on top of storylines. This year, you know, it's like like the like the Southeast Asian teams like super overperform this year in a way nobody expected so like you got players out of like Malaysia and the Philippines, like making it way up into the like the top four or five spots. The team the Chinese Doda dead. No, So the Chinese team won the whole thing. But the Chinese team that won like came out of nowhere, like they've only been together for like what they were playing Chinese dough No, because Chinese do on like two years ago when I was incredibly like that's the thing. It was this boring, like slow farm oriented style. You think that that's like a result of years of patching to get away from slow ass Chinese doda. They have changed, They've shaped the game that they have changed the ship out of this game with every major patch over the last like two years, Like they add items like crazy, they rework entire heroes and yeah, like it's the thing people kept saying, especially with Wings the Chinese team that won the whole thing, is that like there is no meta anymore, you know, like like they defy the meta by picking like insane lineups that then they find ways to make work and like everything can work. Yeah, that's that's the time. That should be the goal, right is Like then it's like you've got your balanced game, then everything should be it. And like there are a couple of heroes coming out of it where people are like, yes, that hero is totally gonna get nerved, like they got used too much and in ways that they shouldn't be, so like things will get tweaked. But like the game competitively is an incredible spot and that allowed for like all this drama between different teams. You know, like the the other team that went to the finals is like literally a team of rejects. Like that's how they kept being referred to because like it was it was basically formed by two players who got jettisoned from the team that won the Shanghai Major, which is kind of a supergroup team of like star players. So like those guys got booted to allow more star players to come in. Yeah, they went off and started this new team. Like everybody was shitting on them coming into this thing, saying like oh, yeah, maybe they'll get last place if they're lucky or whatever. Like they blew through all the way to the finals. You know, like it's incredible, underdog, it's a good story. Yeah it was. It was incredible, and uh, so much drama, so much attention, Like there was a huge kind of cheering section for the Chinese teams, which was not there the year I went two years ago. So like, even in the finals, it was just like one side of the arena versus the other, just like screaming at each other. People have to relocate based on not they they just keep fighting into the congregate. Like the cheering for the Chinese teams was definitely coming from a certain end of the arena, but one how so much energy and there. It was incredible how much of that was actually people coming from China versus coming I have imagine there's a big Yeah, that's I guess that's that's fair too. You know, it's reading about another sport that had the meta disrupted recently. Oh Chess? I shit you not. I was reading this big long reddit redit newcastling rules. What do we got? No, it's it's really interesting. Apparently super computing and put blank on the rook man. It's all these super computing people. They they you can basically run a fucking chess program on a computer that would beat any grand master alive. Usually uh and apparently so many of these hot players have basically memorized the first like twenty thirty moves of every game now, so there's there's like the correct response to their situation. Yeah. Yeah, basically it's all it's all kind of correct stuff and it's like conventional wisdom stuff that now the computers are breaking now great, no, no, computers are all reinforcing stuff. So there, it's like a very set kind of thing. You know. You ever see those two chests, basically a build order for chess. But there is one dude who apparently the world top grand master, who's so good at endgame stuff that he will intentionally kind of fuck up his early game and get people to the point where they've only seen these computer games where everything's kind of set out, So he will intentionally do weird stuff in the beginning to get them flustered and making weird decisions, and then he'll fuck them over at the end get out the super and then it's super weird. I you just brought up the meta being disruptive, and now there is a what I understand, there is a chess meta that is like kind of locked in stone, and only one dude is smart enough to break it up. So apparently the top grand master right now is one of everybody kind of says he might be the best chess payer who ever lived with that much better than everybody else, And it's just a really interesting story. I don't have a link to his name. The Rizza. Yeah, you were seeing some stuff like that at this game, where like they would draft one way that looked like they were going to do one thing, but then actually intending to use the heroes in completely different roles and they're very rarely ever used in anymore. And then the other team would draft against what they thought was being game plays catch them out, and then yeah, they would not be equipped to deal with what was actually coming. Like it was so much good stuff. It was. The game is an incredible place in that event just gets better and better every year. Like, what do you think about the teams just in terms of like you know, being like sponsored by these entities and that sort of stuff. Like, on one hand, that's like some fucking future sport. Yeah, nightmare thing that we've we've all been heading towards forever. I don't stadium naming and stuff, but I don't have a problem with the sponsorships because they need to earn salaries even even if they don't win. Yeah, because I gotta make a living. They gotta eat even if they're not doing Do you think that like bringing a regionality into it instead of like having teams that are just straight up sponsored by places would would work better? Like it was, it was a little more like standard sports where it's like, hey, you are now drafted by this team. Guess what You're gonna go live in Des Moines. That's kind of how it is now, Like so Digital Chaos, the underdog team that went all the way, Like their thought of as an American team. The ownership is American, but only one of their players in this current lineup is American. It's like an Estonian the Romanian. But do they play here with the American ownership? Do they then? Like do they I don't think do they live in DC? Because their initials of DC? Because that's what I want. That's that's that's the best case. I see what you're getting at of Like you know, like the San San Francisco forty nine ers means something, Yeah, even though they don't, they still but that's the thing. Both that or like you know, you see people see talk about the Raiders moving out of Oakland and like how angry that people get over that, like I think. Yeah. Also, like you know basketball, like they're Lithuanian players that comes in. You know, it's like I'm from Oakland, Like no, you're not, but but fine, but fine, you're playing in Oakland. That's great, right, So like DC the whole way through was considered like an American team, even uh, even though they're mostly not. Okay, but but my understanding is most of the pro teams don't move everybody the same place, like they just kind of practice online, okay, and meet up it. Yeah, I guess I'm never quite sure if like online is good enough yeah, Lefty wise for people to practice or probably various really need to. I think they'll like kind of boot camp together. They'll get together for periods of time. I don't think they all live in in the same place. I do. Sponsorships should work for teams. They're like putting Mountain dews on the on the thing as they play. They all wear like jersey is with the sponsors down the sleeves are on the front. But a lot of them they've started to even put their sponsored name in their user name. Like in the game over, they're literally over the hero name. You'll see the sponsor. That's the part I don't like. I wish that the game could be like that. You see that in fighting games as well, or you see people with their team name as like a clan name in brackets, and I wish that they could keep the game itself pure. Yeah uh and and you know, if they want to be all sponsored up and all other stuff, I think that's totally fine, like make money whatever. But like so I wish like the the game itself was was exempt you were coming from. But CSK allows you to do sprays, right or is that non competition? I don't know about in competitive game. I don't think anyone would spray in competitive game unless they won. Yeah, maybe they win and then spray the sponsor. Fucking pres this fucking hot ram skill jaw rip force fucking power ram. Oh. There was so much taunting going and nobody even taunts in like even in pub matches or whatever, but they were totally using taunts in these matches. There was so much attitude, so much trauma, like much fun like tie like have multiple commands on one button. I assume you wouldn't be able to do it. What do I mean? Like, oh, use like like scripted type macros. No, there's there's there's like they're like Valve representatives in the booth with the players to make sure that nothing bad is going on. So do they the other thing I think they should do and maybe they do this, uh custom skins so that each all the players look somewhat cohesive as members of their team. That's not a spectator. Yeah, that's not a bad idea. That would be one way that, like you could get a sponsor's colors onto a character or hey, if they're showing a close up, yeah, do it like soccer, Like you know they've like Seattle team still has Xbox right on their ship. That's not the worst idea. Although the other thing I'm coming to realize about the International is what an incredible like advertisement it is for all the items in the game. Like I came out of that thing and went and bought a bunch of the items that the pros were using. I was like, holy shit, where did that Slarter set come from? I'm I'll pay dollars of that ship. Yeah, Like it is a full on, just fucking fashion It is a literal fashion show. No matter who loses. Valve went Yep, why could be the price you go home and buy that stuff because you level up your ending. The ultimate truth of this thing is that Valve gets the dull wins. They've got it down to with science. He's on both sides of the blade. Yeah, but it was just like I couldn't be happier with how that event turned out. Like, obviously, if you're not into DODA, it's probably not worth making the trip just to seed Spectacle into the game. But the competitive aspect of it was so on point, and everything else else about it was too. We had a nine our chat room, and I didn't realize that had it ended on a Saturday like most fighting games, it was a fucking day. Holy shit. Last the two years ago when I went the all the lower bracket stuff concluded on Saturday and then it was just the finals on on Sunday, which is up to five games in itself. Yeah, this year they did the three game lower bracket finals and the five game finals on Saturday. I should imagine it was we were we were sitting in that arena for like twelfth straight hours. Like that means there was one team that had to like win those morning matches and then go on and play again. So yeah, like they'd imagine there's some amount of mental fatigue. Absolutely, they don't do resets like I think, don't fighting games. Doesn't EVO do that, like a reset like this double elimination. So right, well, but where the lower bra at winner will have to come in and like they have to win to win four, Yeah, they more to win than the than the upper So they don't do that here. But but yeah, like the the handicap is basically the you played rice, you played for three hours already this morning and though you have to play for potentially like another five How did those bathrooms look at the end of that day? Fun? Okay, it's always I always like when I'm The only time I've ever been in one place for like twelve hours was holiday age at Comic Con, And by the end of that day they had one bathroom and maybe like five stalls and a couple of year and else for six thousand people mostly men. Yeah, not not good. It was it was fun. Good. Place was pretty well, what do they play that at the Key Arena? Who else plays there? Like soccer or basketball? Is that for those Sonics used to players? Yes? Probably that sounds right. It's like it's like fifteen thousand seats or something that's sounds about basketball side. So yeah, it's a big arena. All right, that's what's been going on with us. Uh, do you guys need another break or you want to move right into news. I'm okay, I got my snack over here, all right, just keep yourself fueled over there as we read some headlines from the world Video Game Games cons going on and doesn't seem like much as going on I have, yes, uh, EA and Blizzard had things this morning, Like the Blizzard thing seemed super quiet. They've already talked about all of these and they alreay announced, they watched like the announced an Overwatch map and uh, they've got blizz Con for their big announcements. Yeah, but I heard there's some new area is coming to hears of the storm, some new Watch cut scene are the character of things coming out or something that this has been happening this morning as we've been doing this. So that's that's what I saw out of that thing. And then so I'm like not much at the EA thing. You know, they talked about the Titan Fall two technical test, which is going to be this weekend and I believe next weekend crazy and I came in this morning and you were like, hey, we can play Titfall two this weekend. Yeah. Yeah, they they had people down. We ended up not going, but they showed off some single players stuff for that, and uh man, that game looks good. So I only have played one match of it at E three, and I am really look forward to get my hands back on it because it just, uh it felt real good. Uh, it felt real good. So it's exciting. And then there's a Battlefield one Open beta coming along relatively and you know, sometime between now and its release, so people have an opportunity to play that again. Uh pretty soon here, I guess people like and yeah, exactly. Yeah, they've they've had access the whole time. If you ask them, they've they never stopped playing. They're still there in that room. He's still zero and zero. Yeah, just running into a wall in the corner of eternity. Uh okay. Well, so I don't know, I kind of heard prior to the start of Games Calm, like I kind of had multiple people's like, ah, yeah, it's not going to be a thing. It's it's maybe the thinnest Games Calm in a long time, Like everyone's kind of spread out to do their own thing. Microsoft is not having a a press conference there. Sony Yes is not either. H They've got their own events confirmed. They confirmed. Just to follow up from last week, September seventh is actually happening in New York for some mystery announcement. What could it be? Who could say? Alex is so he'll let us know. Yeah, yeah, they're gonna check that out. Uh yeah, but it doesn't sound like you know, we had some people asking like, oh, you're gonna talk over any games colm press conferences. It's not gonna turn out to don Yeah, but no, there aren't any there kind of aren't any. Yeah, Like Microsoft had been hitting games comm super hard last two three years and they're doing like nothing, right, Yeah, and what time think that would be? Like eleven eight ten hours? Last year? I remember last year we early think Microsoft started at six am here last year, so we all came in here at like five in the morning and streamed that thing. Fun that crazy people's a hot move. That was fun. But yeah, I don't know, let's move on to what we'll be new details on games Like I ended up getting a lot of appointment requests from people who thought we maybe are going to Games Calm, But it was a lot of like, hey, we've got police simulator law enforcement coming to the PC. We're a German publisher, you need to come see this game. And I'm like, no, I mean, I agree, but I can't. When was the last time anybody here who actually went to Games COMMU seven I think is the one year I went. I've never been. I went for a sitting Yeah yeah, man, it's oh sit in a room for ten hours a day talking to European RPG press. That is a they. They will gill you grind. It's like what GDC, GDC Europe or whatever was going on prior to Games com I think, and I want to say, I forget who it was. It might have been mcmurder. I saw someone saying that, like, the press room is emptier than I have ever seen it, so, uh, no one's got the budget to go to Germany any The thing was so full of cigarette smoke there. I went, fucking European press just chained smoking in that press room. Yeah all right, let's move on to what it was actually happening. I got a few things here. Final Fantasy fifteen. Have you heard of it delayed. Oh you've heard, I have heard of this. You just delayed it. It's a motherfucker fuck I mean lead into it. But the reason they gave this delay is really interesting. James not done yet? Was that the reason? No, it's actually, uh games totally done. We just thought we would fuck you guys over. Was that the reason? They they want to make it so it can put the day one patch on the disc and the two months and that's that's admirable. It's admirable, but also it feels like it might be kind that sounds like the game's not done. Yeah, yeah, if the day one patch was so substantial, they wanted to make sure that that's not Yeah, that yeah, that is them spending an unfinished game to be fair as a single player RPG, so nobody should have to download a three patch. It's a good point, but that just means it's been coming in so hot that they were uncomfortable with how hot the gold version. I mean, the timing of the timing of this doesn't sound like they could have hit even with a patch. They couldn't have hit the September what was it, twenty eight and they went back to like November like the posts post Thanksgiving, which is never really the best. Do you want to have an earlier Fantasy ten was like December twenty ninth, December. That's super crazy. It did Okay, so yeah, it'll that'll probably be fine. Yeah, I'm I don't know if I'm looking forward to that game or not. I really have no idea. I'm still not on I've been interested in what I've seen so far. Uh. And it's coming from someone who doesn't want to play any of the other Final Fantasy games. It looks very nice. Yeah, and I think it's it's action approach I think is interesting to me. But I'm worried that admit, Well, I'm not worried. My concern for my own personal enjoyment was that it might just get too finicky and fumbly with like your abilities and stuff. If it's a little if excuse a little more towards action. Have you played any of it at all? Yeah? Yeah, I did play a little bit, but it was a while ago, and so the action has changed since that first beta, Like they have made significant changes to the combat that I've not played. I hope they moved a little more towards the action. End of things because hitting a button to swing a sword, but it still sort of feels like you're in putting a command, but it takes a minute to come out. It was just from the old Kingdom Hearts of people. Is this the one that was there? There's like no way to establish a lineage of this games development at this point, but there were I think there were elements of the action that people could kind of draw comparisons to Kingdom Hearts. Which is weird because every time I played a Kingdom Hearts game, I've been like, this is garbage. And then the director of this game for the first like seven years of its existence was the Kingdom Hearts guy, So like you could see where that's legacy you would come on after thirteen, after all the thirteen games, I just need to have I need to have people rave about this game for me to again. I'll wait a year and yeah, I go through it. I think, I think, what if you could sit in a car with a lady in VR and then what whatever you want? Man, whatever you want? No, I don't know, you could look at her and touch that one. I wort to e three Deaths. I saw people playing that one. Yeah you know how that went yeah, I didn't mean it's skeptical that the delay good for them. If they have a game delay, it sounds like the right move. This This delay leaked in the exact same way the No Man Sky delay did, which is that like, yeah, people call it and we well, we'll retail her promotional materials had gotten sent out and then had to be amended with stickers and stuff to change the date, and then a lot of people got very mad and said that wasn't true. Then it turned out to be true. Death threats all around. Uh yeah, I like, good on them for not having another like awful Day one patch situation. Well that that maybe there will still be a day patch. I will. I'm gonna go out, I'm gonna place. I'm gonna say there will definitely be a patch out on day one compared to what's on disc. Money on that huge I don't know. Oh yeah, as long as the game on the disc is party and hal and everything will be fun. Well, it's also you know, you can't review a game like that without having a couple of weeks ahead of time for as a reviewer, So they can't have a shitty Day one patch and expect to get they covered right away. I don't know, Yeah, I don't know. I remember I remember get we got Final Fantasy thirteen, like what three days before it came out or something like I was a long review great sixty hours or something. One piece of Blizzard news that had not come out of Blizzard came out of the Korean press StarCraft HDE. Yes, the rumor is and this is all completely unconfirmed, but I knew it was twenty four. Is the Korean site that that leaked or they broke this this rumor, but that's kind of all there is to know. It's an HD version of StarCraft they've had is it just StarCraft one running in the StarCraft two win It doesn't say like so, it just says, uh, this is from I think I got this from PC Gamer, but their translation says the HD remake will offer the same gameplay as the original release, but we'll boast updated graphics and an improved interface. They've been I don't even know if that's three D graphics or two like better sprites. Yeah, I think it is going to be from what I've heard two days probably how they're going to do it. They've had job listening, so yeah, so they touched on that in this story, like, yeah, they've been you know a lot of those job listings from like kind of like last year or something where it was like, hey, work with our our you know, venerable franchises like Diablo and and everybody was just like, oh, well, then that just means you'll be working on Diablo two patches for the rest of your life. But of course still patch that game. But yeah, I know they totally are, but like maybe maybe this is yeah, like they had, they had grander plans for that stuff. I mean, what if what if Diablo two D Yeah, I know that could happen, something bigger than totally happen. This is if this is real and this is something people are into. I could totally see that. When the other two came out, it was sixty four eighty and everybody thought there's no way. They always very clear, no way, could never make this any bigger. And then they put put in eight hundred by six d Lord of Destruction, Lord of Destruction. So now twenty one by nine four k yallow two just your character is like a dot. Yeah, I'm in just whirlinding it around forever. Yeah, this says details will be coming at blizz conon obviously. Yeah, that's so. They're also there's a big StarCraft two patch that is going to hit after their current tournament season where they're doing a lot of balance changes and stuff and and trying to make some multiplayer moves there seemingly to try and reinvigorate that scene. Yeah, but I wonder if, like, hey, we're putting brood War back out that is the actual esports play for the StarCraft franchise from from Blizzard At this points, as this news was breaking while I was a the International and hanging out with a bunch of people who know a lot about esports, so like it sounds like a lot of the competitive scene is moving back toward brew and like they can say that all right, fine, yeah there is, in fact, there is, in fact, like some big event. I didn't follow up on this side, and I hope I get all the details right, but there is some either league or maybe it's a one off event or something is happening in Korea where a lot of the big names are going back to brew it War. So so this this seems like, well, it seems like a product that people want a and it seems like a way for Blizzard to maybe save a little face in the StarCraft realm. Yeah, if they instead of just letting people go back to the old game and start playing that for money, say all right, we have updated the old game in a way that makes it look modern and aren't we the best? And also allows us to better monetize and control the competitive scene. And you know, obviously I'm sure that there are networking things they could do to improve and make that experience easier for people that want to play it. And you know, if they really listen to a lot of feedback, there's you know, that product could be very meaningful for the people that do want to play StarCraft in an esports capacity. But also you know, remember the StarCraft is a game that runs on a land without any kind of server side authentication, So like that made it hard to control for them, So this would probably have that. I don't know, I would play the hell out of that. I like bord War. I wonder if they would even do the campaign. Oh I hope, so yeah, Yeah, Like that's the thing I had very do. This is a product for everyone or is this a multiplayer only esports thing? I think that's the largest question you have to go in and spruce up those campaigns. Those things are very fondly remembered. Yeah, yeah, that'd be nice. I would, I would like, I would screw around with that totally. I would actually, but at this point, honestly, I would love to see, uh, some early C and C games remade. Mm nobody, those are campaigns I would west play. Yeah, so never yeah, yeah, I don't know if the I don't know if the is there is there's still a team in layah, I don't know the community interest is even there for the Victory games buy or where they Yeah, right, StarCraft HD, let's play some big game Hunters, that'll be fun. I would play Tiberian Son HD. Yeah, CNC Generals. I would play some Dune two thousand remake of the remake of the remake. Put down some plates, Yeah, build on the plates. I mean that that is actually the game that invented arts right four or less? Oh, you could probably go for a yeah you go, you know, yeah, to find some of the progenitors or whatever. But THHQ the Toy Headquarters, huh, it lives at home alone for the Super Nintendo's true THHQ lives I mean kind of yeah, I mean not really at all. Yeah, it has been resurrected some some dark necromancy has taken place in Belgium. Yeah, they have grafted the dead skin of THHQ onto some kind of Frankenstein's Monster of video game corporations is a rising. So I first of all, I'd had no idea that Nordic Games was based in Austria, which I think is hilarious in its own right. I had really yeah, oh man, okay, there's a company called Nordic Games in Belgium. But yeah, so Nordic is the company that bought a bunch of the THHQ ip ye in that fire sale in twenty thirteen literal auction. And yes they yeah, they picked up the trademark for the name, and now they have rebranded themselves THHQ Nordic. Yeah, which was a full on infograms to Atari kind of situation. No, this is the mids point before they completed for the two years just become THHQ totally. Uh yeah, make no mistake. This is them executing a long term transition plan to which they just named themselves. Th What has Nordic Games done before? Uh? What did they do prior to having to getting all this THQ stuff, a bunch of stuff that you would care about. In Europe, they were, they were primarily or regional publisher. Yeah, so yeah, they've in fact this we're gonna pull this the story from Katako. I've got here mentions that they they did deals for like retail releases of Broken Age and Ori and The Blind Forest and stuff like. So, yeah, like one of these publishers that will put out like digital games on disc in other territories and stuff Joe would or whatever. Yeah, yeah, so this, you know, they picked up all this IP. You know, they've got some money. They've got a lot of games in development, a lot of them apparently based on some of the IP that they picked up. Yeah, I've got that quote here, thirteen games or something like that. As of now, we have twenty three game projects in development. Thirteen thereof have not yet been publicly announced see that sweatshop good Lord. Needless to say, the majority of these projects are based on former t HQ owned its and they owned they own Dark Siders and Red Faction. Right. Wow, But so much of thhq's portfolio was wrapped up in licensed stuff that you know, I I start to think about like, oh, what are the great names of thhq's passed and it's like, well, Saints Row, but that they didn't they did not get that, Steve silver As that they've they've got dark Siders there. I don't know if you saw the bringing out the first dark Siders, Yeah, he has like the one everybody likes kind of two was good. I feel like I liked too. Was the overall consensus on two was maybe like it didn't live up the first one exactly. It was a different kind of thing, the weapon drop thing. It was a different kind of thing. Yeah, yeah, but but it was still it was still all right. Dark Siders is your grindy heavy metal Zelda game. Yeah, and that's cool. It's really good. Yeah, that game is tight. I never I only got about halfway through Dark Siders on three six to try to get cool, and they rerelease it. I really liked it. They out Zelda Zelda in a couple of spots with just the items they bring to the table and then the way you use on like this good stuff. That was a really strong game. Jim Lee design those characters or something. Yeah, the comics anyway, maybe they're working on a new to blob. I don't right, Yes, that would be one of them. Yeah, of course the blob. I literally cannot think of any other. If you started digging back into the crates, you could find, you know, stuff they slapped onto PS one games and some of those stuff. But yeah, you know, but in terms of prominent I P. They were the company that made wrestling in Nickelodeon games and those aren't things that they would have anymore. So so yeah, this move. So remember when Acclaim got bought and then like you saw like some free to play company, let's play dumb. Yeah, they bought the Acclaimed name and try to use it for a while, and you saw like free to play Currents micro transaction currency cards with the Acclaim logo on it, and you're like, well, what the fuck happened? This seems sort of like that, except this helps. This helps Nordic, a company that like by its very name evokes I don't know, German point and click adventure games or something. This helps them put a face on themselves that is maybe more globally oriented. And this to me says that they're trying to go for it, that they're trying to to speak to the world stage a little bit more directly to have some more big players internets. Right, at least they're they're making those moves, right, but I totally expect that at some point they just straight up drop the Nordic from the name. Assuming this all goes according to plan, if and the games do okay and all that other stuff, this just seems like step one in your two step planned to renaming your company to THHQ, which I think is which I think makes sense. Again, if if you want to try to evoke a status of a global, worldwide publisher of video games, I think that makes sense. Say which will about t HQ. A lot of the games that had that bore their mark were total shit dating back to sixteen bit days and you know beyond. There are a lot of bad games that THQ put out, but put some good ones. Yeah, but some good ones is pretty pretty damn good games. A lot of terrible wrestling games, yeah, some okay. One two k's got that on the lock now. Yeah. Uh, you mentioned Metroid earlier, and I thought you were talking about another Metroid two remake, but you were talking about Federation Force AM two R is the name of that Metro two remake which has been in production for effing ever and is a remake of Metroid two. Yeah game, yes, a game Boy game. I didn't. Intendo reacted its coming out. They were like, awesome, you guys, We're gonna write a press release about how cool it is. There are fans made this thing. If by press release you mean DMCA claim same thing. Uh yeah, we're gonna put it basically, either one shines a bright flashlight on the project, right, Yeah, that's I think that's how I heard about it because by the time I got there, the download page had been scrubbed. Yeah, and even the mega link had disappeared. Damn if it's been pulled off a mega You know, Kim dot Com is fucking responding to these fucking claims that you know it's legit Kim Kim dot Com bows for no man, He's fucking he's assembling a team of celebrities to sing a song about the Metroid to remake. As we speak, you had to get out of the hot tub long enough to click a button. I'll hang on my waterproof Call of Duty controller here in the hot tub. When we set it down. People seem really happy with that thing, Like there are like active forum threads in different places I've seen where like people are speed running it and comparing times talking about all kind like it sounds like it was really well made. Metro two was a cool game that was hamstrung by being on the fucking Game Boy. Totally totally is it? It's like a lost Metroid game in its sense, it's a full on like it's kind of the bridge between indes Metroid and Super Metroid. How does this thing get played? Though? It's just an executable that you run higher as graphics. When I knew like remake, you know, they not they didn't like lift any assets from anything. I don't know the screenshots I've seen, it looks the style is very super Metroid. Yeah, but maybe hopefully they I don't know if they read you everything or whatever they kind My point of this wee you know, when when I think we were talking about this on Friday, Uh, Like, if you're gonna spend like twelve years or whatever it is on this thing, why not just make your own art and make some changes and sell your own video game? You know? Like I think it's awesome that someone's a big Metroid fan and and like Metroid too. Is this weird? Kind of mythical thing where it's like it's there's a great game to be drawn out of that thing if you could get it away from the game Boy. And it sounds like they did that. I haven't played it, but that's awesome. Andy illegal but still awesome. Uh. But you know, I guess I guess, like you know, at some point, like maybe I'm just thinking about it as like in a in a business sense, which is like, dude, just like make the changes and sell it. Yeah, Like they've obviously got the chops to make a good one of these games, and people are responding very positively to it. Change all the names back where it's just call it like exactly deord m yep, totally done. Yeah, there you go, Jordan done one point five. Uh. They even it's weird because I think after the DMCA they then went and put out version of one point one of this things, so like they're still doing stuff with it, but maybe someone else is who knows who you can say who's patching it. It's the wild lasts out there. Just put the source code out and then let it live in infamy. You can still get it if you want it. I know a guy, Yeah, this guy in a trench coat in a dark alley out there handing out copies of this thing if you if you dare. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it's getting disc and sold in flea markets in Eastern Europe as we speak. Someone's making money off this thing, which is why a company like Nintendo then steps in, or one of the reasons why Nintendo has to step in and shut something like this down. It's easy. They have to protect their properties, even if they're not easy to look at them with total scorn in this because it's it's a fan projects all this, and then it's like, well, okay, Also, it came out right before Metroid put out, right before Nintendo put out a Metroid project of its own. Say what you will have with the quality of that thing. I'm certainly not reviewing it. Uh, but uh, you know, if you're giving someone a free good Metroid game in the same time frame that a for pay questionable Metroid game is coming out, like you know, you are literally impacting the potential sales, which I again I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing, but you understand why Nintendo would do what it felt it needed to do totally. Totally. I mean that's the capacity to affect things that Foxy bring that back. Yeah, totally. They got foxed. They got foxed. I mean, you know, at a certain point, if they let this thing live out there, then the makers of this thing become kind of de facto and incident of spokespeople in a way, you know, like they're doing something with a thing owned by it. You know, they have to protect their property, they do. Yeah, and I understand even even though this thing is awesome, I understand why they have to clamp down. Yeah. It just means you won't be able to easily go to a website and find it. Yeah, doesn't mean that anyone who wants to play that thing, we'll be able to find a way. Yeah, it's the opposite of that. We're here for that Battlefront three thing where I was not here, but then Disney came in and said, no, that was fucking lunacy. Yeah, and apparently the guy just said, well how about you let us take the Star Wars out and keep making it and they were like oh okay, yeah, which you know, because I think the more correct thing would have been, like Disney would have been like, oh well if it's not Star Wars, it's not ours. They don't really care. Yeah, I mean it sounds like it's all based on that kind of scuttled battle Battlefront three design stuff. Yeah. I wonder if that was their plan all along, was to get noted in the press and publicly by saying that they were picking up the Battlefront torch, knowing that they would then get DMCA so that now they have a project people have heard of, or if they or if they're fucking crazy, and they would just like, yeah, we're gonna put this Battlefront thing on Steve what We're gonna put it again? Star Wars thing there. That VR thing, the VR Lightsaber thing was originally at some point called like Lightsaber Train or VR or whatever. It was just some indie thing. Yeah, yeah, and then they changed it to you know, Laser Battle Party or you know whatever, I don't know what, the Laser Sword whatever it was, sure, and then had to say like this is not affiliated with Lucasar, you know, but like why why make it in the first place that way? Are you crazy star like a fox or yeah? Or is it part of the larger plan of like I bet we can get noticed and my uncle's a lawyer, and he said, all we'll have to do is take out the Star Wars stuff and it'll be fine. I mean, nothing to lose here. In the particular case of that Battlefront three thing, given the actual New Battlefront was received pretty tepidly. Yeah, like for somebody to say, hey, we made that game that you actually wanted it to be and it's good. Like that could, yes, that could be a thing that the EA would certainly have an issue with that also, I mean, I mean, it could be big for the developers of this game if yes, if it is, hey, we may the battle Front three that you wanted right here it is yeah, yeah, But also I don't know that game sold fucking fourteen million copies or some insane thing like that. Like, like, yes, received tepidly. I don't think it's a great game, but I'd be willing to bet that the sequel to that will probably sell. Fine. I'm sure, I'm sure it will, But there are a lot of people all for the tricks over and over. Sure, but there are a lot of people out there who wanted more than what they delivered. Yeah, Like what if they put Star Trek in it? Oh yeah, Okay, That's what I wanted. What if it was like, okay, you got Captain Kirk and then Boba Fett and Triple H and they all fight. Who would win in a fight? Does Boba Fett have his weapons? Yeah? I think Triple H has his weapons? Took good two guns, gonna be the Triple H when he was dressed like Shaukhan? Sure, okay, what's I got called Triple H? There was there was a name for that, right, Shoukan Dan Dan told me there was a name for that phase. I think that was true. Yeah, King of Kings triple after Yes, I think that was it. King Yeah. So also like Shao Khan, Yeah, Triple H wheels a sledgehammer, so by Catholic uppering and King of King's always had a sledgehammer exactly reference the Prince of Peace, piece of your skull coming out of your fucking head when I crack you with this fucking sledgehammer. Maybe just start watching wrestling, no church, okay, say sure? Same neither or the thing I said about wrestling and having two good shows in it and then immediately going back to Shittsville is exactly how it went down. Good to know. Never mind, uh, you will talk about PlayStation fours just software first four point. I don't know, sure. Yeah, they put out announcements of the beta invites have started going out for that thing. Ye uh. And they're adding folders. It sounds like pretty much a massive view I over all the folders thing. People, I'm asking that you're gonna be able to group I guess, I guess as many apps and games as you want into a folder. Yeah, it sounded they've redone the library section to bet on stuff that's actually installed, as opposed to a full list of every app that's ever been installed on that system. Those are now two separate lists. Yeah, here's here's the stuff you have on here, here's the stuff you don't aw other menu when you hold down the button. So that thing is gonna take a full screen now, yeah, the thing is gonna overlay on top of the gameplay. That thing is also gonna because so they're adding more functions to that screen and you can customize it, and you can customize what is and is not there. I wonder if they'll clean up TV and video to not be this weird, like like the apps you use should either be at the very top of the list or fucking up in the main bar, and then the TV and video store should be part of the store. Yeah, scolling all the way down is he plex? I hate I hate that, Like I use Plex and I use the w w E network and they're both at the bottom of that list because they're not fucking pain sony enough to be up top like baseball or though. And I hate that they float that umbrella icon back to the top every so often when even when you don't use it. Yeah, that's it's shitty. But yeah, improvements to sharing, Uh, that's user profile stuff. I think it's like longer videos are able to be posted to Twitter now, and some of the specifics I'm streamlining in the interface there. Uh, profiles are getting better in some ways. You're gonna add a background the image, blah blah blah, Yeah, a lot of are they gonna are they gonna make it so people can't just randomly add you to a group Willy nilly six tikes the actual problem. Yeah, you guys have weird problems that not a lot of people do. Like I see your notifications pop off. Everybody sees that's something something like this. So we have verified accounts, So I think that's the thing that changed. I was getting some of this before I was verified, but as soon as I got verified, it grew exponentially. Whereas apparently anyone with a verified account, people are just randomly adding them to groups as as in groups of one hundred yeah, and then spamming them or sending nothing at all. You know, I don't know why they're doing it. You know what's actually hilarious about this is that I've become very familiar with who has verified accounts now because you always see like those nathers, and I guess they're alphatized or something, so you always see certain people at the top of everyone one of these massive groups that you get added to, like like Arrowhead Games. Yes, yes, like that. I won't like the Bethesda Europe community manager. I feel you're paying because I see you in the same groups all the time. But Adam boys up there when he's in there quite a bit. He's always very proactive about leaving those groups. I've not i'n't always want Matt Kessler has been good about leaving this groups. I think I'll believe I've seen him in there. I mean, I'll pretty much leave all of the ones that I'm in every time I plugin, I get too many, I've stopped. I'm just like whatever, I don't I don't get messages on PS four anyway, so I don't care about their messaging feature and whatever. I almost change my Xbox Live gamer tag last night while we're talking about this sort of stuff. Did you know? And I'm put this out here for people. I know we're live on the internet, so maybe by the time this archive goes out, maybe no one will be able to get this name. But one of the names I considered that was available, and I thought it would be the right level of dumb. Hideo Kojima Junior is one available. It's really good JR spaces between all those all those three words. That is all that is available right now. You want that fucking That's a freebee from me to y'all, dude, I want to go register that right now. I'll just have that's really good. That's a real dumb name. Every time I try to put a I forgot my original gamer tag on Xbox I don't mean long, I don't I don't use it's I knew it at one point because we were Xbox Live friends, and then you didn't log in for like three fucking years, so you forgot it. Ide what it is. It's Millard Kilmore right, okays, my Steam name. I have logged in Xbox and probably like four years. So that PlayStation four two, I get people like real name requests, which I don't know even know what that means. I don't play multiplayer on PS four. It doesn't show in most games. It means that like on your friends list, you will see their real name in addition to their dumb name. Okay, which is actually been pretty useful for me, like kind of clear but my list out and stuff. But I just don't play multiplayer or talk with anybody anything matter. Yeah, that's the thing I realized when I was changing my name, is like I don't actually care what my name is because I don't like I will accept it every this platform to interact with people, and I accept every seam friend requests because I'm always offline on that thing. I do not play a multiplayer at ever, whereas I accepted zero Steam friend requests, and yeah, that's true most a lot of my Steam friend requests. If I see one mutual friend, it is always you probably yeah, accept always whatever, no deal. I'm never gonna be online, don't chat with me. So I have to manage my steam list unfortunately, because I have to actually play games with people in there. So apologies to anybody that should just give up doda. I don't know that. Oh No, A lot of approvements to trophies on this thing, but not the one they actually should do, which is make trophies fucking sink when you get them, yeah, instead of making a manual operation. And that's I'm sure about. Anybody who only plays on one PS four couldn't give a shit. I was about to say about that. Yeah, but everybody I know who does play across multiple PS four is like, you forget to sink them, and then you just don't have the trophy unless you can remember to go sink get don't get ahold of that PS four again and anything like are you're just talking about doing at work and then forgetting to or whatever? Yeah? Or yeah, I've I have multiple PS four is connected at home? Right? Uh? You can see the contents of a hidden trophy, now, yeah, you've got smart into Just show me the name and the description. Just fucking tell me what it is. Right there, it's happing to go to a fucking website that's gonna list all this shit anyway. That is like a weirdly forward thinking thing to have here, considering most of the system software stuff like that one constantly playing catch up. But it's it's opt in though, so if you want to maintain the secrecy, you can. It's just like, but so many people who want to share fucking grind out their trophies are having to go to all these third party sites to see what the trophies are. Why not just build it into the system you can smart. You can finally view trophies while you're offline, which is great considering a twelve hours ago I was playing a game that I couldn't play online and then couldn't go look at the trophies because it just boots you out. It's you're not connected, you can't look at these anyway. Whatever. It sounds like a big old housekeeping update with a bunch of it. Sounds like they have to announce. Really, I would hope would be more substantial like this. Yeah, because this looks like a bunch of housekeeping stuff that is like nice to have, but nothing crucial For a four point oh update, I'm expecting there to actually be some kind of big actual thing. You're right, it says at the end of this blog post. This is the update has even more features that won't be available in the beta. So also, I expect that this will eventually be the launch firmware for the Neo. Who. Yeah, so that's probably why they haven't announced a full feature sets, because they've got like, hey, this will also be the thing that runs on your better PS four. Yes, if those documents will be to be believed, there will be some changes there. Yeah, in terms of like shit like you know, a frame rate and resolution of the videos you capture and stuff like that, right, is maybe going to improve. Yeah, So I wonder if anyone, and I know their firmware is I think are encrypted, But I wonder if anyone pulled this stuff apart if they would find anything, if they pulled apart this firmware update, if they would find anything pointing it at Neo. Well, we got about three weeks to go to that event, so yeah, find out soon. That's it for news. We could move right into emails because are willing enable absolutely all right, I'm ready to go. This is a one break podcast. Drew is in it, heading the game it's just fucking strapped in just breakneck all the way to the end podcast at gibomb dot com. That's where we send your emails. First email comes in from Mike Steele in Las Vegas, the mayor. Usually I don't say the full name, but that guy's name is way too good, not too with an e yes All right, freeze, Okay, it's about winn jammers. Okay, hey, dudes, boys talking about win jammers with Jeff reminded me about this I was at I was at the PlayStation Experience two years ago and the SNK Playmore had a booth. After confirming the dude at the booth actually worked there, I asked him the obvious question. Everyone wants to know, what's up with win jammers. He laughed in a manner that led me to believe that he had been asked this before, probably even that weekend. However, I was very surprised with the answer I got. He told me that they've looked into it a few times because the company that owns the rights clearly isn't doing anything with them, but every time they try to get ahold of them, they don't get a response. He continued on, saying that SNK is worried to push too hard to get them to respond, because this is where the bomb drops. The mother company that owns the license has a bunch of very well known ties to the mob, so much, in fact, that it makes SNK genuinely afraid to pursue anything too aggressively. The Japanese mob. Wind Jammers is literally being held hostage by the mob. It made me feel better to know that they'd at least tried, but that was definitely not the answer I was expecting. That sounds like an insane thing that no employee of a company would ever actually tell you. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know, man, take it, take it with a grain of salt, as with all emails. But is it a jab It is a Japanese company, So God, the trail goes fucking cold at some point. It's one of those I want to say that SNK actually owns it. Wait what But I don't know for sure. This was a cry for help to get so work backwards. This K properties get split up at a certain point so that win Jammers was not an sko okay okay, Data East made win Jammers okay? Yes? Uh for the neo Geo. Yeah, they put that game out Data East. When they went bankrupt Data East of Burger Time Fame was picked up by a company named g Mode right, which then the g Mode branding was on that WE collection of Data East arcade hits that had a bunch of games I had like bad Dudes and a bunch of other fucking grates on it. And then what is it? Wind Jammers came out on the Japanese WE Virtual Console with another company's name on it. It is a four letters I don't remember Toast. No, it's not Toasts anyway. Another company's name was on that version of the game, So the thinking was that they had ended up with the wind Jammers rights at the same time. I think it got pulled off of the WE Virtual Console at one point, which leads me to believe that that wasn't a IP transfer, that was a licensing deal that when it expired that came out to be yanked down. So Wikipedia has a list of properties acquired from daties by g Mode, and wind Jammers was not on that list. So the actual answer is I don't fucking know, but people who have dug into it. At one point I did here that maybe s and k did actually have the rights to it. That sounded suspect as well. Yeah, so this stuff is fucking in the wind. It's fun. I have no fucking idea. Also, by the number of wind Jammers style games that are now being made or in early access and that sort of stuff, and seeing all of them kind of fail to capture the things I love about win Jammers in the way that I love them in wind Jammers, I don't think that making a sequel to win Jammers is actually a good idea unless you are literally getting the timing and sizing, and unless you were literally just saying we are making a sequel to win Jammers, that is Wind Jammers plus online play, some additional arena options, reporting physics, like, everything's gonna feel the same unless you can nail the absolute feel of that game, which I don't think that any of the games out there that are trying to be win Jammers are actually capturing. It's not to say that they're bad games, it's that that they're they're kind of different. They're different, they're making different choices. I think the only win Jammers follow up I would want to see would be one that like just fucking put wind jammers back out with good net code. Uh, and and potentially some additional options you know, uh like overhaul and win jammers behind the back two on two Like fuck all that shit, no, thank you. Win Jammers is a good game. It's true, verify that on many occasions. So I just I don't. I don't think that that they fallow up to win jammers would necessarily be what people would want based on some of these other games that I'm seeing out there or that that are trying to capture some of that. I also don't think it would sell. I don't. I don't think enough people like for internet joke because not actually going to translate it would potentially be some pretty bad business, especially especially because every time the Windjammer's name gets mentioned, I'm sure the price of it goes up a little bit to whoever does own the rights. So you know, all of a sudden they're like, maybe maybe we're actually sitting on something here. Yeah, whatever, Just go find Windjammers France on Twitter and see what they're up to, and and uh see what they're up to. Give it a look, uh. Colin rights in from New Jersey the French wind jammers scene. Think about that, yeah, what is what I was? I wasn't gonna ask, but all right, I'll do the research myself. Colin from New Jersey Rights and says, as I watched Jeff stream Burnout Paradise the other day, I wondered why the fun hating folks over at Criterion decided to remove crash Mode from the series. What baffling decisions have developers made over a franchise or a series of games that made you say, oh god, why, well you were you're streaming Paradise. Yeah. Yeah, But also, I mean they put showtime mode, and I think, I mean, Paradise was meant to be kind of a different thing, So I don't I don't know that like they necessarily removed crash Mode so much as they made a different game. Uh you know, and on some level, much like with Windjammers, the thing you would do to make a follow up to crash Mode is just make more of it. I don't know that there's that much more to do to enhance it. I mean, well whatever, I'm sure there is, but uh, you know, people just wanted more crash Mode, so I get why people will be disappointed in that. But like, Paradise was never trying to be that. I actually thought Showtime Mode was pretty fun. You would probably make a great crash game from mobile, just like it's simple control. So they did Burnout Crash, which, at one point before the you know, before we saw what it was, everyone thought like, oh, that's going to be an xpla game that is all crash junctions awesome. But then it was like this mobile first, like all like two D top down things, pinball noises and stuff like that. But it's it's weird because it had that Crash Mode stuff in it. It just presented it in such a different way that people didn't like it because if you think about it, like Burnout, like crash Mode, like the driving of the cars like least important part of it. It's you know, like, so they moved it to touch controls and we controls and all this other stuff in a way that I'm sure on paper made a lot of sense, and then when the game came out, it's like, oh, this isn't I don't actually want to do this. In terms of the franchises that have done weird stuff, they can think of franchises have gotten really bad, not for any specific I don't remember anything they got specifically mechanic wise. Like most games seem to go, most long term game franchises seemed to get better almost as a rule, I mean, just because they update the designs. If they don't, they don't last very long. I would say that the wrestling games they cut out the story creator. Yeah. Yeah, even I when I heard that was like, fucking what, Like, isn't that the thing that made your game actually fun last time? Like some people apparently like playing fucking bad, sluggish, slow strategic fighting games with wrestlers in them, you know, like, apparently some people actually like playing those games, which is crazy to me because they are terrible. How are we ever going to get the exciting conclusion in Ghost Problems more and more exactly when the time Rock return again. Yeah, so that's yeah, like all the fucking awesome Look, I'll say it awesome machinima was generated by the last version of that wrestling game that had a story creator totally, and they still have to use that version to make it. And because the servers are offline now, they have to fucking sneaker net USB sticks and shit like that around with created characters on them and stuff the dark web. It's the darkest fucking web. And that's sad that they pulled that mode from the game. When when they moved generations, was it one of the two K releases it had that It wasn't all THQ thing, So they did it and then took it out. Man, that's well, so they changed generations. So yeah, at some point they had to refocus the game, and so they'll bring it back to once once sales start lagging a little bit, they'll put it back in. I don't know if that'll even be the thing that makes that game sell. I would like to think so. They're using enough of the same animations across the rest of that game, aren't they. I mean, why not just bring back all the just fucking bring back people getting hit with a fucking limo parking lot? How fucking hard is it to wrestling game? Like, what do you think you need? It's about it. I always curious about going back to some of those weird stunts that they did, like the people in actual w W thing, well kind of they didn't have stuntman for the ship like they are the stuntmen. It's a weird thing, like if you did a movie, you'd have to have like a days with the planning and another dude come in and switch out. But these guys just hit my cars backstage. It seems really dangerous to me. I don't know, well it was it a Goldberg hurt himself real bad, punching out the window and a limousine I think I remember, and it just ended up cutting some tendon or something and he was out for months and ruined storylines and stuff. I mean, you know, yeah, that's yeah. Uh my answer for this, I've gone back and forth on this. I've never been quite comfortable with. It was when they added gems to Geometry Wars. Oh right, yeah, Like that was a huge change to the game where all of a sudden you had to worry about your positioning to make your make sure your score multiplayer kept going up, as opposed to just killing stuff. Yeah. I got that. I always felt I'm sorry ahead, I just felt like that diluted kind of purity of the first Geometry Wars a little bit. I get what I want to do it. It's just like, hey, let's make it more mobile so you can't just hold up in a corner, hold up somewhere and hold it down. Yeah. It's one of those things where it's just a different game. It's not necessarily worse, but it was not to my tastings as much. I think I tried that new Jeometry Rois. It was a PlayStation plus free game for a bit, and I think I just tried it and like, no, I like it. It's a good game. I don't think it was great on spot It's not as good. Yeah, I didn't much care for it down there the sticks on the Vita. I didn't think we're up to the task. I just I feel like johnshre Wars three was maybe a little boring, like just the in terms of the levels of the way it presented, the challenges and levels and stuff. I had a lot of interesting ideas, but some of the Jeometry Rois two though, I remember those days back at back at games. I mean two was a fucking amazing game, like a package, like as a package, like when you looked at what the first Geometry Wars was and then how much they added to the second one, it was like, my god, man, like this is ten times the game of the first time, Like like, of course you're selling this thing that was a free Project Gotham mini game, right, Like of course it's now it's on the thing because it's fucking huge and amazing, especially you know with some of the stuff like Pascifism that they came up with and King and just like some of those wild wild modes and I mean, I'm I mean, I guess I mean the second Geometry Wars meeting, the first well that was five bucks, but that made sense. But like those first two games on Next on three sixty, well, those first two standalone releases, I guess, yes, is the way to say that, uh, we're awesome. Yes, yeah. The modes and stuff that came up with her Yeah, yeah, retro Evolved is the one that I still go back to you. The thing I lamented for a long time was the loss of like the very pure parts of dirt. Uh. They got more and more toward like uh like off roady jump stuff and like Jim Conna like that stuff's cool. Like I love dirt too, especially but I always missed like point two points no rewind like hill climb stuff with with like these crazy cars. But like dirt Rally has put all that stuff back here. Cool. So it's been awesome, Okay, excellent. Uh, let's see email from Jason. I have a new job in Orlando, which has me traveling to the downtown LA office a few times. In the past year, I've stayed no traveling to LA. I've stayed at the Millennium built Moore, and I'm now going to be staying at the Standard. I feel like I have heard you guys mentioned the Standard before as a place you may have stayed for E three's past no comment, I know it's I know it seems like you were always blown away by what you have experienced it there, uh, and your opinions about the places you stayed. I'd love to hear any good stories you have or even thoughts about hotels in that area. I always enjoy hearing you guys talk about what you've experienced, and with my upcoming visit, I'm even more interesting. I like the Bonaventure. It's weird, the Western Bonaventure. Yeah, with all the elevators and true lies was shot there, and it wasn't the only End of Midnight Madness was shot there. Yes, I was a ghost wasn't part of Ghostbusters shot there? Was that the biltmh that was that's the builtmore Okay, I was a propositioned at the Standard. ME and two female friends are there after three. Yeah, another couple got on and very much clearly asking for us to come to the room for nice That was sanity or something just like play a fun game. Yeah, exactly that that was. That was I think it was going plush raids. You mean tabletop, Yes, I don't. I mean we do the standard every year for the three and it's it's fun enough to be in there that the staff is all pretty nice and everything like that, but in terms of like I'm glad we will stay there. I stayed there one night after E three and it was like, you have to leave the room so I can pee because I can't have you watching me. There's a glass ye talk about there's no privacy in this bathroom. The walls are glass there. It's a it's a very like they're trying to be a quirky hotel in a way that I think just comes across as like kind well, also it's it's lazy and maybe a little douche, but also it's it's been around so long now even there's even their dumb ideas now come across as like played out all over again, Like I think you could do a better quirky hotel. Now I've stayed in a room there that had like a fucking like five foot long like foam rubber foot. You stayed in the room with the foot from the foot room too, taking up a bunch of four stays space for no particular reason. I like the standard. It's it's weird. It is weird. You never stayed in a weird hotel? Yeah, I just always feel like you could get down and like snort the carpet or something. There's there's a lot of legacy ruffed in that hotel. You can feel it. It's like it's if you likes a film on everything in that place. We had a wallpaper naked ladies on it. And yeah, conference rooms if you like going to a hotel that is like clean and spotless, ye standards. No, it's not the standard that barber shop down stairs pretty goo though I got a haircut that that's wow e three haircut? Yet, man, I was I remember I felt like a fucking hustler of the year. I had to buy sunglasses. Usually, I was like, I'm coming out ahead, let's do this. Uh. There's there's a bunch of hotels of varying repute in the LA area hotelig Yeah, so there's photos out there of like the fig has been like the facto, like everybody could drink there kind of hotel that E three for a long time. I got gutted and remodeled. Should have burned it to the ground. Yes, I just want to apologize this guy from how to commute from Landed to LA. It's what it sounds like. It's it's still you're working on Orlando and then you have to go to fucking La for work trips. That sounds like the worst of both worlds. Apologizing who lives in these locations. But I would I would take a long walk off a short I don't have a lot of strong feelings necessarily about hotel rooms because they're all pretty much the same. They'll give you, they'll give you a bed when they don't have WiFi though, oh well yeah okay, yeah, yeah, that's I wanted to start my hotel review site that would just fucking say, here's the water pressure coming out of the fucking shower, and here's how fast the internet is. Yeah, that's it. That's all it. That's the only two metrics. And just like a checkbox for bed, yes has bed or also do they provide earplugs in the room as a means to tell you this hotel fucking sucks. Last two places I've stayed in have had m hotels. Uh, let's see. Michael from Denver writes BombCast. Have any of you ever played low Rider on the PS two? It was sort of like DDR, but instead of people dancing, it featured cars with hydraulics. I worked on the US port of the Japanese game Awesome. The Japanese game was rife with artwork lifted from quote well known American fantasy artists. Near the end of develop the development cycle, we got an email from our publisher telling us we'd be integrating videos of Lil John and the East Side Boys. This email initially prompted a what, which was followed by an Okay, that's the end of the email. Anything to say about low Rider, it's it's not a very good game. Yeah still, but I love that it existed. Yeah, I feel like I remember there was a bit of a sensation when that thing came through the office. Yeah. Yeah, we definitely gathered around to I think watch Alex play a lot of a lot of excitement about low Rider. I need to know what American fantasy artists are doing incorporating cars in their end art. I mean, would that have been like side art or something that would have been art art cart and stuff like Francezetta stuff and like here's some naked Viking lady on the hood of a car. So like, what was the Japanese version of the game, Like, yeah, I don't know to think of a low rider culture. I don't immediately think of like, oh, Japan since there's some of that, yes, and I thought flirtation with it, certainly. I don't know the yes. I just want to see Japanese dudes dress up as cellos. I need to know if this is the thing or not. I'm sure you could. Yes, I knew fetish. I found mailed it yikes. Uh. Yeah, I don't remember what the deal with the Japanese version of low Rider was, if it was also just called low Rider, if it was a different thing that had that license slapped onto it later, or what that was, Like is that a TV show? Next time's right? Right? Yes, you're thinking of the Pip My Ride video, yes, right, which is low in quality. Okay, bad track record for this stuff in Video game four should just say something about subreddits I did. There's an email exist, an email entitled Jeff Can Finally Rejoice from David. There is a subreddit that combines people's passions of both No Man's Sky and Weed. Behold, I give you No Man's High. Click through to it. Yeah, about what you'd expect, is it pictures of bongs with like screenshots and No Man Sky behind it. It was mostly it was more like a lot of people just posting screenshots. It's going like I stared at this for like five hours kind of stuff. Yeah, that's pretty dumb. It had a good header. That's as I was playing No Man Sky there, I did have a moment of just like I wonder if this game is like really better like for people who are very high. I saw some I've seen some like prominent people in like the press and development communities as it was coming out, going like, yeah, I've I haven't smoked weed in a very long time, but I think I might, Like, Yeah, I don't ever want to beat j for this one, because like you know, obviously, like like people get that all the time, like, oh man, were you high when you wrote this? This is obviously people who were hot, Like I don't like I think that's shitty. But at the same time, I found myself suspecting that, like, man, I bet people who get high a lot would be way into the slow ass pace of this thing just staggering around the lands. I've been staring off. It's very colorful. Those animals are crazy looking. I just get paring out about space cops. Fucking space cops. Nope, yep, they know, they know, they'll know what we want to know. Question from gadge. I remember when playing Half Life two, the combines Forces on Earth were called the Overwatch and a Blizzard and Valve had a little lawsuit about the DODA name. So do you reckon? Blizzard named their latest game, Overwatch as a little jab at Valve. There was even a really popular mod for Half Life two back in the day called Overwatch. No, this was actually them laying a sick burn on the x Calm team. Yeah, for having an overwatched skill in the x Calm game. Yes, I think Overwatch is such a generic military term that is probably yeah, I guess so. Actually, I always thought that name was like weirdly gene for a Blizzard game. Agreed, It felt like like that felt like it should be StarCraft. The StarCraft is a weird. It's a weird. It is a weird. Yeah, Overwatch seems like to think about it, if you told me that Overwatch was a four person, four player co op, yes, fucking first person shooter, like it sounds like it was like a Gears of War knockoff or or even it's almost sounds like an Arma knockoff to me, or something like some super hardcore or like military role playing squad shooter thing, And that's exactly what it is. Yeah, totally. I wonder if they're still bad bud between those guys, and I don't know, I don't know. I would love to know the details of what that agreement consisted of. They're probably both making so much money at this point they don't have time to care. Yeah, I'd like to think that that would be like, oh, you know, well, we're over here also making zillions of dollars, so yeah, close again some day. But Blizzard probably doing fun. But I have to imagine there's some degree of sour grapes. The Blizzard was too busy focusing on Gearbox to care about what Valve was doing. Well. I mean, like what five six years ago when they could have taken the reins of the mobile thing. Yeah. Uh, like they were too busy with the curly most popular game in the world to foresee the next most popular game in the world. Think is here's a storm still people playing that. I don't know. I don't keep up with it actively. I mean they have there's a competitive scene. Like I said, they're adding Overwatch characters to it now and stuff. Didn't they already put Tracer in it? Yes, you're right. I think Zario is maybe the second. I got the weirdest Facebook recommendation the other day. It's a Facebook fan page for Tracers but like, not not even the character, just but and like one hundred thousand people you immediately clicked Like no, I just looked at it. You get. I get really weird Facebook group recommenations. I get all kinds of car they Johanssen like, okay, cool, but I don't get that weird. But I've I have gone through and actually I'm gone through them unliking things on my Facebook feed like authors I like and like, yeah, just like, stop stop knowing these things about me. Because Miazaki. If you like Miazaki on Facebook, all you fucking all my ads now are like from these weird shitty unlicensed like do you remember this character from spear luay a T shirt? And I don't want to see that ship. I want to unlike everything. I was getting poles and stuff and like or like it was it was the list of pages for me to like it would be like Trump Clinton, like Fox News. It was like it was like clearly a series of suggestions, Like it felt like they were trying to discover my political affiliation. It felt like they were really trying really hard, and I had just exed out all of them. They said expressly that they will target like your news feed based on your political stuff, like they'll know that Republicans want to Fox News, and yeah, I just want to go to and I just I kept I kept like just crossing all of my off and it just like pages that were not those pages, but basically those pages again, yeah, like citizens against Fox News or you know, it's like like really wanted me to weigh in somewhere on the spectrum or something like that. It's a weird thing to have Facebook. It could basically be a place where I don't want people. I don't want them to know what I like. And even to the point I'm sure when I type in a status like I'm watching you know, Jason Bourne, I mean they will fly that information away for when they can target that blue way at me or something like that. I wanted they know I like dogs. That's basically all I want them to know. Hates connect games, Hockey is entire bio. Yeah, that's that's also every PR person has that same box. I always wanted to go through on Facebook and unfollow every single person I'm friends with and unlike every page and just see what the fuck's and block every page that comes up and see what it serves me if it eventually just goes like all right, here's an empty page, or if it just keeps fucking digging, digging, digging to the the lowest levels of Facebook track around the around the internet too, So I'm sure they're getting Yeah, yeah, I think you can go in and and get it to tell you what it thinks about you. Like Google had a similar thing where you go like, we think you like baseball and butt stuff, and you're like, well right on both counts Google the same time. Yeah, all right, Uh, let's do a couple more sure before we get out of here. Will from Toronto. Today, I went to a local game store and grabbed Super Baseball Simulator one thousand for five dollars, because well, it was rad when I was a kid, and hey, five dollars. After trekking home in the blistering heat, I fire up my sneests and low and behold a pixelated as fuck Ken Griffy Junior grins at me. This is not Super Baseball Simulator one thousand at all. It's Ken Griffy Junior presents Major League Baseball Awesome. I am, needless to say, dumbfounded. Like the sticker is placed perfectly, and I am very confused. I kind of don't want to exchange the game because this game was still pretty dope, and what in the ship? And it was five dollars. So I suppose my multipart question is did this kind of thing happen all the time? Or have I got some kind of weird rare cartridge I can sell for millions as someone an asshole? And did they just replace the Ken Griffy stickers with the Super Baseball Simulator stickers? Did this kind of thing happen all the time? How did this happen? I'm going to guess that they opened the case and replaced the game inside instead of rest making the sticker, because that would be easier than Yeah, I mean unless there are screw holes under the sticker, but I don't think there are the seems like weird games to do that with, though, Is there, like at some point in the past, was there some weird value thing going on where it's like one of these Like at one point I got bored with I wanted to surprise myself with all my Atari eight hundred games, so I unscrewed them all and moved the games around into different cases. And that was dumb. So you never know. Yeah, man, was there one big like Nintendo factory that made any cartrides, I know, the the bootleg ones from like Tetris. There was not one big one, but Nintendo did control production of games, so I mean, ready, that is possible. But I think like the innerds of even that gray that stock gray cartridge could vary depending on when it was made, like in terms of like what how many rams are in there and which what's the mapper or whatever mapper that he uses and stuff. Yes, uh, different games that have different memory configurations and all sorts of stuff. Different variations of the boards with the chips with the business. Yeah, so no good explanation for why somebody would have pulled this nefarious capers hilarious kid was bored and just followed you to your house and recorded your reaction and put it up on the internet. That's right, all right. Todd from the UK, who is an animator, so he maybe he would have some insight here, but respect he says, what's the deal with video game characters and armpit hair? If you have time for me to elaborate on this question, I have done so. I remember back when the PS two first came out and I noticed that the male characters in techn didn't have any armpit hair, and then it looked quite odd. I remember thinking at the time that maybe despite how incredibly these fancy new PS two graphics were, maybe creating convincing looking armpit hair was still too difficult so they opted for the shaven look, or that perhaps maybe Japanese culture was more sensitive or easily offended by the sight of male armpit hair. But it was something that I continued to notice with other video and game characters over the years. Roll onto the next generation. When Gears three came out, Marcus Phoenix, a man who was essentially three hundred pounds of pure testosterone, living in a world where a prolonged war has had a severe impact on resources, still somehow has the means and the desire to have baby smooth armpits. Maybe he's a swimmer, Okay, all right, well, hang on, he has hair on his head, though this struck me as odd and jarring, especially as he didn't have any desire to shave off that stupid fucking island goatee. Also, in The Lost and Damn's memorable male frontal Nudity, a full frontal nudity scene, there's definitely plenty of body hair on display, but still no armpit hair. Really, in these last two cases, considering the technology and the Western development of these games, the graphical capability or Japanese culture theories no longer makes sense. With all the outrageous and phenomenal technical advancements that have occurred in video games, why is there still some weird taboo or technical difficulty with armpit hair. It's probably just a waste of resources for something that you don't see often enough to care about. Don't Wrestlers usually not have armpit the hair, but I heard that when you either work out a crazy amount, it kind of just stops growing or if you like, I don't know what I hear. My knowledge of the human body is basically from the internet. Uh, but you know, you look at wrestlers, very few didn't have any any pit hair. But they, I mean a lot of them don't have chest hair either, Like they're you know, they're shaving down and oiling up. But you have some guys that are definitely going the opposite way with it, you know, getting that chest hair going too. But uh, this is a central email intent. I don't know. I thought about shaving my armpit hair once out of boredom. I did once how to work out it issues like fuck? So I when I shave other hair, parts of people say like, oh when you shave it gets all itchy. That's never happened for me. So I wonder if I would be okay trim that's what I a beard tremor. Is this ever itches? But yeah, if I do shave it, will it will itch? Yeah? I don't know. I maybe I don't know. I don't know that that's my Yeah, but you don't know. If my guess is that they just you know the in the frantic haired production of a video game. They don't want to speak U. They don't want to waste shaders, cycles, polygons, any of the stuff on hair there Also, I bet that they would never be able to make it look good. It would because even the hair now rpit hair doesn't look good like the I think the techniques that people often design hair with would not weybe. Actually, maybe they would apply perfectly to arn't it hair, because maybe maybe most hair video games look so bad. I want the wheel hair effects braided, Yes, I want. I want very very long arrest effects. I didn't know there. I didn't know this sort of that's all about that hair works. No, I mean this guy. You shouldn't hook up with this dude, because you sounds like you are similarly look into some stuff, fixated on certain things. Ban out of three just totally shaved up top and armpit hair, making guns out of armpit hair. I shouldn't be saying this chick, Yeah, no, fucking turn this stream off. We're gonna make a million dollars. I need to send myself a certified letter with these ideas, all right, Dao Kojima Junior. He put arm hair in game. It's true you would know, yes, you did a survey. All right, two more quick emails when we get out of here. Uh Drew from Raleigh, North Carolina. Recorp Has been available for digital pre order for forty dollars on the Xbox Store for a long time now. Is it me? Or is that a big red flag about this game? I've been interested in it, but the price simultaneously says yes. And but why wasn't wasn't there something an E three last year that was announced as being I think I'm charged at four You could pre order at sixty bucks for like a year and a half. And it's specifically it's that it's it's lower than sixty. This is not a pre order. This is like it's going to be forty dollars at launched. They announced that I would remind you that Banjo Kazooi, Nuts and Bolts and a Pinata Trouble and Paradise both launched at forty dollars. Yeah. Also in the best game. I want to say that, like, isn't the case that Recorps is kind of short? Was that the thing it came out of E three this year? Maybe it wasn't I don't know, there was some some piece of information about that game. I feel that like made the price point make more sense maybe as when we saw it in action, it was just like it seemed like it was a lot of shooting. It's not that much. I mean, it's kind of got some shooting, but also some Zelda ish qualities. Okay, it looks neat. I thought maybe it was. I thought maybe the price point would end up being kind of on par with the scope of the game or something. But I don't know where I heard that. Yeah, I don't know I heard that or from making that up. So I got the sense that it looked like it was probably an eight ten hour at least from what I had saw of it. I mean, just judging judging by the structure of it just seemed like it would have some meat to it. But people just panicking at any price point between twenty and sixty nine, people panic it all kinds of stuff, release dates, you know, like like there's you know this this panic about like, oh, well, we don't think the reviews are going to hit until launch day. It must be bad. It's like no, that's actually the vast majority of bargo. That's the weird launched day like you, and everyone seems to keep forgetting that over and over again. It's been this way for fifteen or twenty years. Everything coverage goes up usually on release date. Yeah, movies expect to have but it's it's it's uh, it's similar to movies, and that the real red flag is if they declined to screen it for you, or they'd clined to send it out before release, that's when you really start to wonder. And that's become more of a telling thing with games over the last few years than it had been. There were all sorts of circumstances and there still are there. There had been a lot of circumstances that necessary that you would like, oh, well, here's why they didn't send out copies ahead of time. Their servers weren't on yet, because it's a multiplayer thing, right, all this other stuff. I feel like No Man Sky was the one in recent memory that there was like a bit of like, what is going on, all right, they're not sending it out and they got this day one patch, especially because at first they were talking like we'd maybe have like a week with it or something, and then went down to a few days and now they're saying the day before and all the way to hang on it comes out tonight, right, what the fuck? Uh? Yeah, Doom Doom was another one, although I mean that right, what a fuck? What? What kind of whiplash curb with that? You know where it was like the beta was disappointing and they're not sending it out for review, this thing must be trash and then holy shit. Yep. So even even then, it's not a guaranteed indicator. But yeah, there there aren't any guarantee the dedicators anymore. I mean, as far as recorps, I just assumed they did a bunch of market research type stuff. That's said, single player only eight to ten hour game with not an established IP, no recognizable characters, like maybe maybe maybe we stand to do better at forty than we do at sixty. And they have been pretty transparent with that, which about minutes forty dollars. Yeah, they announced it a few months ago. I think I think the only worry someone would have is if they expected that game to be more than that. Yeah, I thought it looked pretty interesting. I'm really I like it. I do want to see that it's got it's got some neat ideas. All right, Harris from Austin, Texas, last email, I'm at a point now where when you said it was eight to ten hours, my reaction was like, oh, so it is short. I don't know that fact. Yeah, I don't know. I should I should, I should clarify. Like, looking at the structure of it, I would say it's at least that okay, but I have no idea for sure. But like they're building it up with like, oh, you'll acquire upgrades in each dungeone kind of area, and their bosses and like the mechanics bill and stuff. And then like I looked at that and said, surely this is at least eight hours. I looked. I looked at someone planted at a D three. It looked all right, yeah, but it also looked like it was maybe a little more shootery than well I thought it would be. The main thing with the shooting for me is it's all lock on. Yeah, so it seems and you get a bunch of traversal abilities right out the gate, so it seems less about lining up shots and nailing head shots and stuff and more about like moving around while you're shooting. Like the shooting is somewhat automated Metroid Prime Federation for US. I mean you know who made it, right, yeah, Comms Retro Retro Yeah, well right, yeah, right Retro, Like the makers of Metroid Prime are making this game. Yeah, and you can see a little bit of that in there. But also Comcept is involved food. It wasn't in the demo that I had at E three, so like there's maybe a little bit of Mega Man in the boss fights and stuff too. And like it it looks like a cool game, I am. And it's out pretty soon. Yeah, I'm I'm looking forward to that. Yeah, all right, Harris Austin, Texas. He email starts with the subject climb that says, has Jeff heard of this? Yes, it's one am. It's one am, and I just discovered the wide world of quote live video online Blackjack. Apparently it's an online gambling service where you can bet your real money and multiplayer online poker matches and I also black jack I assume sounds like a normal gambling site so far, but the weird part is there are real dealers taking your bets and communicating with you while you play. They can read chat and have conversations with everyone at the table all while dealing out actual hands of blackjack. Seeing multiple dealers in the background too, talking to nothing but a screen while dealing out large, comically oversized cards is the weirdest part of it all. This is such an odd, niche slice of the online world that I'm wondering if Jeff or anyone else that's table has heard of it. And then he sent a couple of links that I clicked through and yeah, it's some weird looking ships. Did you need to send me that? Because they because they are dressed in full on like like casino regalia, like tuxedo there inside a casino felt tables like it looks legit. I wonder if there's a legal thing around that, that that's a way that they're getting around some kind of thing. I can't see how they're pretty strict about that kind of stuff. I've heard of this, but I haven't actually watched it. Is it is really wild looking, like they're just kind of looking looking in the camera, just kind of dead face deal in the car. It's it's like a fucking live Sega CD game. It looks exactly like that. I'm trying to think about HD other things people could do on webcams to make money. I don't know. Maybe maybe maybe somebody will see this and get some ideas. I don't know, but yes, I knew you in particular would be very interested in this. It's fucking really weird. I'll, i'll, i'll, maybe I'll throw those links in the show notes for this. Yeah, there's some big reddit. Some don't throw links to gambling sites in the show. Okay, Well, it's it's YouTube videos of it's videos on YouTube of what the product is like. That might one of them. One of them has a straight up YouTube style, like really goofy looking face with like the big dumbfoont that just says like online video dealer fails and it's just like the dealer. It's like a super touch the dealer, like fucking up or whatever. Well, I'm sure if you're in the most YouTube thing and they send you on the webcam, you're probably not the best dealer of anything. Maybe, I don't know. I thought it was pretty fast. So if you're dealing big cars, that sounds hard. Yeah, they they're like like this, I mean, they needn't shoot stop that big, but then you know they need to read on video and stuff. I just look forward to the count cards people try to do that. Are they winning real money? I mean, this is real money. He said, you're betting real money here, I bet if you the only thing about real money gambling kind of stuff like that, You start like if you have a supercomputer that you're putting all the input into, and like they're crunching on the numbers, and like you tell you win a bet and wind you raise high. It seems like right for exploitation. It probably also means that they are stacking shit against you, probably figuring that people are probably doing they have a too, a super computer called there are no aces in these decks that that is an unbreakable meta. I don't know. I mean that sounds really the whole thing about casinos, that they are heavily regulated by state governments, and they'd have people in their inspecting shit, weighing the dice and everything like that to make sure and if you're all of a sudden using non standard cards, uh yeah, maybe maybe maybe they're fucking broadcasting from a boat something waters They've got a fucking oil rig, they're running a torrent site and a fucking live cam gambling operation. Man, this is this is the most Internet. This is the most dark web thing ever made. Hey man, people love gambling and that sounds like I could make some money. They take bitcoin. Can we like really close the loop on this ship. So all right, bobcast and GiantBomb dot com. That's it. That's it, the podcast is over all right, good time, it's no what Yeah, thanks for being here, Matt Rory. I like getting out going to lunch after like two because super Rito is like no line crunch. I tried to eat no no earlier than one thirty around here because it's a complete fucking nightmare. LinkedIn building opened up and all of a sudden, like holy shit, line out the door everywhere. Yeah. Dan, Dan's recent comment about San Francisco being full of sentient app hoodies I felt was yep, was was pretty spot on. We work. I mean, I I see some much branded gear people wearing, and I don't need people gear store bomb dot com right, like the shitty backpacks the real shits like recurrently on it and optimize the elms. What is zena fits? I see that here. I see you like eighteen of those backpacks and hoodies on the way to the office. Every day. They will give you a backpack. You do not have to wear it that. It's not going to get you any points with your boss. Uh, that's a free bag, you know, it's But they're all shitty. They're all really bad. Also, keep in mind that for some of these people, it might be their first job out of college and they still have some sense of like loyalty to the corporate overland. They'll beat them out of that. Yeah, and that's whether they're probably making like two hundred k a year straight up school. Yeah, that's when you need that cheap bag. That's right. Fuck the city. They don't get those They don't get to that thing by spending money waste exactly. They get to that by having working somewhere that does their laundry, working at a company that is also their mom. Uh my rent just one up ten percent for the second time in two years. My next or eight time to be in sane Cisco. My next four neighbors moved out of their apartment. I was over at my girlfriend's place for a couple of days and by the time they can come back, they'd move out. But their door was unlocked and like wide open. I'm poking in there and it was looking around like it's pardoning here tonight. Yeah, totally. It's been a dude. Squatter's rights are insane in California. Get in there as fast as you can and shop in four days now, nobody's coming along to close it. I don't know where my landlord is, but I'm I just want to go on, Like what did I forget? What the insane? For thirty days? Like, yeah, you can't legally remove somebody from a property you own if they've been squatting there long enough. It's totally socialist nightmare California. It's it's crazy. All right. On that note, let's go out in the world and enjoy San Francisco. What if we Okay, so I think Greg Miller and his crew are moving into a studio. What if we moved our studio into their spare bedroom, Okay, or you can just live there. They can't find out exactly. They've got a whole room now, secret with nothing in it. Yeah, make use of this, all right, that's the new plan. Yep, all right, let's got to do it. For this week's edition of the Giant Bomb Cast. True, thanks for running everything, thank you, thank you. It's a little bit lean in here, but Hopefully we'll be back to something something approaching fulpassy next week. Jason, Yes, indeed feel better. Uh so, Yeah, we will see you next week, same time, same place,
