All right, Welcome back everyone. It is Tuesday, March twenty five. You're listening to the Giant Bomb Cast. I'm Ryan Davis and joining us today. Jeff is a special guest. Alex Navarro freelancer Alex Navarro. How you doing, sir, I'm doing fantastic. I'm a guest again on your podcast. You are, indeed, although our first official, right first guest on the Giant Bomb Cast. You've you've podcasted with us many times in the past. I have, I have. Here's my worry is that I'm going to turn into like the sort of go to guest when other guests cancel just because of my proximity. You'll be our own Joan Rivers, I'll be I'll basically be like the Saturday night live cast that shows up on Color O'Brien every once in a while when someone like someone someone canceled. Yeah, so Tricy Morgan, what's up? And every one's in a while. Roma Downey just comes on no reason. But you're here. This is your first time here in the Giant Bomb offices. I am in the bomb shelter. Yeah. I don't call it that. I don't call it that, but you just did no, we don't, but you just did. So you're here in the offices. What's what's your initial take? You've seen the videos. I have. I've seen the videos. It's bigger actually than the videos make it look like. The room and your your orbital lounger is is like magic. Kind of a dentist chair kind of gets you back to that dentist level. If I wanted to work on your mouth, I could you could, well, you could, you could do that anyways, you could. Yeah, I don't have I don't have nine dollars on me, so you don't have the tools anyway, you know, licensed, But that doesn't stop. Yeah, yeah, but yeah, that thing's magic. I love your giant TV. I love your completely ghetto couch. Yeah, that couch was free. I get that thing. I get that that couch was free because if you paid money for that couch, you're an idiot. Fair enough, sir? Uh So I guess this week not not usually we start off with a big drink taste test, but so, Alex, you're drinking an iron Brew I am drink last week. What do you think? I think they're not bad, dude. I think you're pretty good. Yeah, I like them too. All right, Well that's that. Thanks. That's wraps the drink section of the show. I give it a seven. Moving on, I guess let's talk about some games you want? Dude, what do you guys been playing? What? Alex? What are you injured here? Other than than rock band, which we'll talk than. We'll talk about that plenty later on. But most of what I've been playing these days has been a review related stuff. I finally got through Army of two. Yeah, I was painfully disappointed by that game. You're just playing for money right now, You're not playing for happiness. I'm playing a few thanks for happiness. I have a copy of Condemned to that's like sitting there waiting for me to have a little free time to jump in on you like a video game gigglow. Yeah, I've got I've got a copy of Bully. I want to get on as well. So but justin time for the patch, Yeah, justin time for that patch does nothing, I'm afraid. Oh really yeah really, it's supposed to fix everything I get wrong with it. Actually it makes everything worse. I finished Bully pre patch. Yeah, and I've actually been kind of hanging out and waiting for the patch, hoping, Okay, maybe this will addressing these issues because it's bad frame rate, you know, locked up like a half dozen times on me over the course of the game. Then the patch came out last Friday and actually worse frame rates, worst sound, now skips, I'm having like flickery textures, draw distance seems not as good. So yeah, so it seems like, yeah, a patch actually made the game worse, which is just a horrible headache and just such a shame because that game is Bully. Bully should be awesome. That game is awesome even despite all of those problems. I still really enjoyed the experience. But I still I'm gonna get around to it, and I, like you, I have a copy of Condemned To sitting there that I'm gonna bust open any day now, and then it's gonna bust you open, and then it's yes, exactly. But also Bully is sitting there too, and I played it for like twenty minutes, and having gone back to it, I was figuring, I'll wait for the patch and everything will be great. Nope, yeah, but I can't get to any of that stuff until I finished playing Ninja Reflex. How is that that's like a mini game because I'm looking at it in the store and it it does not tell you at all what that game is. The back of the box is just like Ninjas. I don't know that that's because the game isn't really sure what it is. It is a mini game collection, but it is six mini games six, so it's a collection of six mini games. Is a collection of six mini games. Now there are rule variants for the six mini games are I guess theoretically designed to give you more longevity with each mini game, but in the end you're still plucking flies with chopsticks and using nunchucks like over and over. Unchucks are cool. Nunchucks are very Ninja. Nunchucks are cool until you realize that every single game involves someone throwing a crate or a piece of fruit at you. I saw license plate frame as I was parking this morning. It was on a Pontiac and it said built with tools, not with chopsticks, which I had trouble thinking what that might mean for a while that I decided it was horribly racist. Yeah, I think that might be the most racist thing I've heard in a while. Actually. Yeah, So Ninja reflex in stores now. Yeah. Also on Steam, they did a custom Steam edition that for like eight ninety five. Uh that using steam Works. It's like reflex steam Works. So I guess you used the mouse instead of the Wei remote or the DS stylists. Yeah. Probably. Okay, Yeah, that game is not so good. I mean it actually plays all right, but there's literally nothing to it. I had experienced everything the game had to offer in about an hour. All right there. Okay, So Jeff, you've been playing a lot of smaller games lately. You you reviewed rocket Men Access of Evil for Xbox Labricade last week I did, And then you've also been playing some Braid. Do you want to talk about that something? Yeah, I do. Braid is an indie game, yeah, which you know has a lot of weird connotations. But that's the Jonathan Blow game, Yes it is. It's a game from a man named Jonathan Blow. I think that's a fantastic name, which anything. I guess the question that I came into, like first hearing about Braid was why should I care who Jonathan Blow is? Why do people seem to be tossing this name around like it means something. Well, Jonathan Blow has spoken at GDC off and on over the years, and he's kind of part of these the kind of subset of indie games that are into games having kind of more social relevance and more kind of just societal relevance. And he's given talks along those lines and on Braid kind of follows in that. But at the same time, Braid is also an awesome game. I think if you stripped away kind of some of that meaning and and plugged in kind of more generic platformer stuff, the mechanics of that game would still be very sound and it would still be very, very cool. But that it has this extra layer, this extra coding of care given to it, I think that just actually just makes it that much better. And this is gonna be coming to Xbox Librikade. This seems like more of a heavy game than you would usually see on there for sure. Yeah, Xbox Laberkad, And I guess there's gonna be a PC version. I played, I was hooked up with a finished PC version, and basically, you know, when you strip it all down to the basics, it's an homage to Super Mario Brothers, right, because you are looking for a princess. There are pipes that have big plants, that come out of them. The enemies that you face are basically goombas. Yeah, I mean you should be one level that basically just looked like the first map of Donkey Kong, right, Yeah, there's yeah, there's a little bit in there that that is designed to look like Donkey Kong. And that's a pretty clever homage inside an homage. But then on top of that, so the thing that makes it different though, is that the game plays around with time and and at its most basic, you can hit a button to rewind what you've done, and this will bring enemies back to life that you've killed or whatever. And if you've died, you can hit the X button on your three sixty control and it just rewinds time and you can let off and pick up anywhere you'll you'll leave it leave off, which reminds me of all those tool assisted replays, all those speed runs that you see the people who are making with emulators but impossible primario stunts, because they're running everything at like quarter speed or whatever, right, and anytime they make a mistake, they're rewinding it back and taking it again to just do this ridiculous stuff. It's like Prince of Persia and Super Mario whethers kind of got together? Yeah, kind of, baby, yeah, sort of. But then the game starts to meditate on this time thing, and every world changes the mechanics of time in different ways kind of. The first thing you notice is that some items will be all sparkly, and those items don't rewind when you hit the button. So that means if there's a door that you opened it with a key, you can rewind it and that door will normally just close and you'll get the key back. But if it's a sparkly door you open it, that door doesn't close, so you can use one key to get through two doors if one of them is sparkly, and that sort of thing. And that's that's really just it at its most basic. As it kind of goes further, it really takes the time stuff to really crazy places that that I actually don't really want to talk about because it's when you see them, it's my melting. You don't want to give spoilers. But but saying that it is just Super Mario Brothers meets Prince of Persa seems to be selling it rather short. Totally short, and it's completely missing the point. But but yeah, like in a very shallow way. That is exactly what it is. But it's well for making that statement, is that what you're you're I think you're shallow, not necessarily for that reason. I mean I am shallow. I don't think I'm shallow because of that, right, No, yeah, definitely all right, Yeah, as long as we're clear on that. So yeah, Braid is supposedly coming out in the spring, which means it's probably just about done or getting very close. So yeah, I think that's that's something people should really look forward to. It. It's really it's it's something special, excellent. Uh well, let's let's get into the news of the world of video games around us, shall we. Yeah. Uh, giant bomb gast from the news room. Uh. Well, in the meantime, that'll have to do the five traffic on the fifteens. I've just got a bunch of stories here. Let's start the So, Midway CEO David Zucker, this is maybe a little more corporate than we used to talk about. But last week, Jeff, we were kind of talking about talking about Midway and constantly how it seems like they're always on the cusp, and the story in that got run in variety basically infers that he got tossed because he lost some to Redstone, who is heavily invested in Midway. Yeah, and also Viacom and vic Yeah. Heah, he is mister shaft. Uh that Yeah, he just lost him a bundle. There's it. Cites a couple of statistics here that Midway's net losses since two thousand four about three hundred million revenue growth from two thousand four through through two thousand and seven, negative three percent increase in net lost from two thousand and four to two thousand and seven, positive three hundred and ninety nine percent change in Midway stock value from the day Redstone took over through today, negative seventy nine percent lost in equity value from some to Redstone over five hundred million dollars. A wow. So I don't I really don't think you can pin all of that on David Zucker, but some of the exactly he is. He was the man in charge when this stuff happened, So at some point you gotta you gotta make that change. I guess. Well, perhaps the kernel of the reason why I wanted to talk about the story is that mister Zucker's replacement will be one, Matt Booty, Matt Booty. Matt Booty is gonna be running from Matt Booty, and that dude's been in Midway forever. I'm pretty sure his head was in an NBA Jam game, so he's legit as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, I know. His name has been in the credits of all of Midway's greatest nineties arcade games. He's been there since like ninety one, so so he obviously has a long history with the company and the you know, Midway is saying that this is going to be their interim uh CEO for the time being, but god, I hope that he stays permanent, because then that just means so many more news stories about Matt Booty. Yeah, definitely, I think the more we hear about Matt Booty the better. The only other thing I can think is, know, get ed Boone in there, because you want the dark room making games. They make all the all the decisions. Okay, Well, side bet here, Jeff. How long before the headlines trying to make puns out of Matt Booty's name become horribly tiresome. I'm gonna say, after the after the number of times we've said his name right here, I'm gonna say it just happened, So we just hit it. I think I think we just hit it. But I think the official like shark jumping moment for these jokes will be when he gives his first financial earnings call and someone calls it a booty call. That's too late, and then it's done. Has it already happened? That already happened? Okay, boy, the booty call headline has been done? All right, Well, then we're done with that, all right, that happens. Well, actually, I know I'm looking at a Kataki story right here, and it says Midway boss resigns board, makes booty call done all right, Thanks thanks for getting out of the way early, guys. Uh so also last week, that's that's maybe another direction, and they could go Midway's board looks, oh so booty delicious. Yeah, I don't know, And we'll make we'll make that Joe position to bootylicious for Matt Booty and we see him speak at Midway's event next month, perhaps we will. We will help to tire that out. Some Midway boss takes on duty to rock that booty duty duty, just rock that Oh god, so also last week, Jeff, I can't recall exactly how we got to it, but we started talking about a ice cube side scroller, yes, and how it needs to be one. A reader listener called in call a reader with ears a reader even he said a smoke signal after reading our teletype got this over the wire, uh okay. Got an email from a news on the nine. I wanted to let us know that there is in fact already a game, some some crazy indie game, although this is in far more of the the rude prankish right way than it is in the the you know, socially conscious way. There's a game called Rap Attack Tupocalypse now that that heavily features our man, the Don Mega as well as Chamellionaire in fifty cents. Sadly, this is a PC only game, and so since I'm a jerk, I have no way of playing this. But what I've seen of the screens look great. The opening. I actually did get to see the opening cinematic for it that tells the tale of how the neo dinosaurs used their magic to create the first rappers. So after that, I know, I saw a screenshot that just showed like little Cartoony ice Cube on and like a it's like a charmander. Yeah. Yeah, so that's awesome. Yeah, so if you have a PC, I should play this. Yeah, if you have the means Rap Attack Tupocalypse now you can find that easily on the internet. It's buried in some crazy forms somewhere. That's where I was pointed to. So go check that out if you like ice Cube and then apparently I do. Apparently at some point Portland Alex was working on a hip hop themed RPG that never came to pass. Also, well, that's too damn bad because we need more of those. Yeah, exactly, portly untapped out. That is where rap games need to go because the ones that have been out so far kind of a bummer. Am I am? I high It wasn't someone talking about making hip hop RPG at one point, Like, wasn't that actually something that someone was going to make? No, you're thinking of Rap Jam Volume one, the NBA Jam rip off that had never lasted. No, No, I'm I'm dead serious. I seem to remember someone talking about making a hip hop RPG like recently, like in the last year or so. Let's hope I don't know, because that would be funny. We're not going to talk about things that none of us really know about. I'm saying vaguely specula moving on. Our next story has nothing to do with video games at all. But they released the first pictures that snake eyes. Oh my god, vie uh. And I think it's I think it's sick. It's it's totally sick. Yeah, totally like that. I wasn't very signed about the Gijoe movie because you hear all this stuff that they're like making it a multi national force, the multi ethnic It's like, dude, it's Gi Joe, that is America. That is not a multi national, un weak ass fighting force. But at the same time, you know, they've got a kung fu guy, they've got America. There are American ninja. Yeah, all right, I mean it shouldn't be multi ethnic to stick with, Yeah, definitely, yeah, just stick with. But but like making it some multi national force, which which is what all the earlier reports were, I think totally goes against I mean, I mean the name g I Joe yeah has its roots and freaking two American soldiers. Yes, So like that just struck me as something really dumb. Uh. And and also Stephen Summers, which is never really a good sign for most things. God, I hated Van helsing so much. Yeah, that is possibly direct wrote indirect uh a easy easy writing and directing Gi Joe as well. Yes about the writing. He did both the Mummy movies, so I like the first one's okay, the second one is the second awful? Yeah, not so not so great. But these pictures of snake Eyes look fantastic. I'm not sure that I'm all the way into the whole sculpted muscly suit thing. I'd I'd almost preferred if you know, he was just all tight spandexed up and but you know what, to me, that looks more like like the snake Eyes from the cartoon with the muscly thing than what it would be if we just put spandex on Ray Park. I just Nike Ray Park bulk up some man. I you know, he's kind of a tiny dude. He can really. Yeah, I think this the sculpt suit looks fine. It looks a little bit more like the comic book, and it looks like how you want snake eyes to look totally. So it's definitely a good omen yea. And I just want to see how storm Shadow is gonna look. I'm just I'm really I want cloth, a lot of clothy like loose cloth on on storm Shadow. No, I want more like the figure I want. I want, you know, tight white like, yeah, a little bit of cloth because he does have kind of a sass or something like that. But he's got the cowl and everything, he's got the food well, and it's less of a hood, it's more of a mask. So I guess it depends on which version of see I'm saying, like the original, original, classic full on cartoon action figure storm Shadow, not not late model storm Shadow. Well, just heightening our expectations to be all that much more disappointed when the movie comes out. In his crap, I want to see what Shipwreck looks like. I don't think I think they actually came out and said he's not going to be in it that movie bunk. Couldn't they get someone to do a bad Jack Nicholson impersonation? I got my why is your face melting? What about snow Job? Let's talk about that some more? That how is that not the synthoids? Man? That the movie should totally just they need to make another movie that just focuses on shipwrecks time in Fake Springfield with all the synthoids. Best episode of that show ever. It was like it was like it was like a five part It was like a full it was like three or four four or four part. Oh man, so brutal, Such a head trip when you're seven years old and watching this, like, oh, none, if it's real, and then stripped starts freaking out. Got pretty pay at times, you know, heavy parable for our time. Remember the one where they got sucked into the crazy like there was like some Toy Masters World run around No, and it was like you're talking about the one where it's like the alternate dimension where no, but that one was awesome too. Love with someone from the Joe team, Yeah yeah yeah, switch alliances and and that that was like their excuse to ditch like the old inarticulate gi jos, Like they got rid of like Zap around that times, like Zap stayed in the alternate dimension. Now Flint is on more, you know, like stuff like that got rid of some of those dudes. Classy, a classy way to write those characters off the show. Oh, you know, generally a show that involves lots of lasers is pretty classy inherently totally for sure. Well, that's a that's that's our Gi Joe minute. That wraps up our Gi Joe minutes Gi Joe on the seventh up next. So they patched the released Service Pack one for Vista, Yeah, which supposedly was gonna fix some some stuff. Jeff, you're it broke a lot of stuff for a lot of people. Of course, much like the Bully patch, it crapping stuff up, Alex, Have you patched No? I haven't, Jeff, I have. I actually was running all the SP one beta's leading up to this, and yeah, and other than a couple of problems with the betas that made my system completely unable to boot, which I was able to fix pretty easily, I didn't really have any problems with the betas, And now this one seems to be working just fine too. File copying is faster, which is one of the ridiculous things about unpatched Vista is that moving a file from one drive to another takes way longer than it did on XP. Yeah, so they seem to have fixed that, though it's probably still a little bit slower, but it's it's it's it's acceptable now. So Yeah, I guess the questions, have they yet made it as functional as XP? I think they totally have. Yeah, Like I really like Vista. Yeah, it's it's just a it's a better OS. It's it's it's been more stable in my experience, except that I'm actually in the middle of having a hardware failure that makes my whole machine very unstable. That's not that's not Vista. That's not Vista. That's me needing to yank out of drive and rma it. But yeah, overall, I have been really happy with Vista. I think the stuff with with games and stuff, I mean direct x ten, all that has been has worked out pretty well in the games that support it. I think it's it's maybe a bigger hardware leap than a lot of people were willing to make. Like maybe it just didn't come out at the right time, because now you see all these people. It seems like anytime a game comes out that doesn't support shader model three, or that only supports shader model three right and does not support shader model two, a lot of people come out of the woodwork and start complaining because they haven't upgraded their video card in a while, and that that's that's to me, seems like one of the larger problems with PC gaming right now is that is that people haven't upgraded yet. Well, it seemed like like there was also a lot of rumblings about just the how shoddy the whole, like you know, Vista Ready steers that they were putting on stuff like it didn't you didn't actually have to have a machine that would really run Vista to have on there. Well. Yeah, it's like the Vista Ready sticker meant, if you turn off every single bell and whistle in Vista, it will run, but probably not so great. But it'll it'll do it. It'll do it. It's fine, it'll play, Yeah, it'll boot, it'll boot. You can edit a text document, look at a web page, balance your check book, but nothing with flash. Yeah, no plug in whatever. I'm with, Getmac. I'm with Jeff Vistas. Thus far I get a Mac. Don't play games on your damn PCs. I don't know. I yeah, I don't think I could ever go back to XP at this point. It is just like it's just a much. I have not had a system crash once since I got my new machine, and you know, it's yeah, it's just all around, a lot more stable. It's just a lot more interesting of a NOS than I think XP ever was, So yeah, for sure, And I've only had like one program not run on it. So yeah, like for me doing audiot like recording music that actually was a nightmare under Vista because the driver's support wasn't there for a lot of these weird USB, external FireWire all these other devices. But so you bought a Mac, So I bought a Mac. Yeah yeah, all right, Well before this turns into the just get a Mac and we sound like stupid jerks about that, get a Mac, let's get some lot tape we all own, Max, Dudelet's let's talk about the go to the wine bar across the street and record the rest of the podcast from there while we talk about our Max. Let's talk instead, let's center ourselves. Let's let's find our moral compass and discuss the United States Pizza Team. Okay, I don't know what you just said to me, Like you put words into a sentence, but I don't know how they fit together. This is the apropos of nothing, all right. Last week I got a voicemail from my girlfriend who said that she had caught a flash of what she believed to be a some morning news story about the United States Pizza Team, and she didn't know what it was, but she knew that she wanted to be a part of it. And I agreed with that entirely. So went ahead and I went to the US Pizza Team dot com web page and it's ah. My first instinct was that it was going to be people who ate pizza professionally, yeah, which which I have. I value my amateur status and too much. Now you don't want to go pro. No, that wasn't my initial inclination. My inclination was that it was a team of like, you know, elite pizza chefs that get together and make like pizzas as fast and as elaborate as possible. You'd be pretty much right on then, okay, And that was your perception of the United States Pizza Team, whose motto is truth, Justice and the American Pie. I want to kiss whoever wrote that. I want to punch whoever wrote that? That really bothers me. I don't know. I just like that these guys seem like the Harlem Globe trotters of making pizza. Do they have like do they spin them on their fingers while the other, the other pizza team, the Evil Russian Pizza Team, can't get it together. Oh, there is one picture of from the New York Pizza Show in two thousand and seven, okay, of a man a man to the New York a man blindfolded on his back tossing a pizza in the air. So what the hell? I don't want stunt pizza making. I want, don't you. I want pizzas. I want stunt I don't want to know how pizzas are made. I want pizzas to be showed, to be showing up at my door. You wouldn't go to like a Benny Hanna style place where there was like one pizza chef in the middle who was you know, and you had like a table around him, and you would standing there and making crazy gold whoa look at pizza theater? Is it crazy? Look what I'm doing? You know? I don't like I don't like when people try to upscale pizza because they put crap on it. I don't think this is right. But you don't eat pizza with the HEAs doesn't have just meat on it. Beat's good? What's wrong with meat? There's a lot of different kinds of meat you get linguisa chicken pizza. Do you even know what inguisa is? It's some kind of meat. It's a type of sausage pork. Yeah, there was while I was getting pizza with chicken and barbecue sauce on. That's good. That was pretty good. That's pretty good. That's about as far out as I get, though. You put a vegetable on a pizza Jeff for Yeah, I don't. I don't think pineapple. Making a spectacle out of it's better than a vegetable out of the actual preparation of the pizza really classes it up too much. This is like, you know, more chucky cheese style. It seems so if you enjoy a spectacle and pizza, I fully recommend people go and check out the US Pizza Team's website. It's like they should make a movie about that. It's just they should just remake Cocktail, but have it be about stunt pizza making instead of bottle flipping drink makers. And then there's the evil Italian pizza team that tries to come in and like take their take their title yeah back for Italy based on a true story, yes, starring a Meal Hirsh no more of that. Uh, let's let's get to the real business. Boston said, and Leo DiCaprio Boston the chefs. Come on, No, we're not talking about that. No, I see it so much more like screwball comedy, like the Fairly Brothers. Man, it's just two guys from Boston that came up the hard way, and they learned how to make a pizza the hard way. And now we're not We're not anymore. Now we are talking about Boston. Not Damn, I'll screwed up if we're shifting gears yet, keep up, man. So yeah, Boston six pack hits rock band this week? Uh, what is that? Like? Entered points Bucks fort six songs, which are all master tracks, including the only one you need more than a Feeling. But I still fully recommend everyone by all of them. Piece of Mind is a hell of a song. You know what, I could not name you another. I could not come another Boston more than a feeling, name another Boston song. I mean I like is the era. I mean, this is the type of music that you really want a lot of in rock band, just big stadium. This is seventies bloated rock. Well more than anything else this is the kind of stuff you want to be singing, especially, like this is the kind of thing you want to get your friends drunk to sing, right, you get. It's good sing along material, absolutely. Now. The weird thing about this is that with these six songs and four play a long time in the game, they have every song except for one of Boston's debut album, but they have everything else. They have everything else now weird. So they had an eight track debut, it was an eight track album. Did come out on eight track? I don't, I don't know, it may have. I'm guessing it did come out of track. I think it's pretty safe bet, But so, I mean, my only guess is that they just didn't want to make that the first like album on in the game, Like maybe they hadn't quite figured out how the whole album listing thing was going to go in there. So I don't know, it's gonna just gonna release that last track for ten dollars if you want to complete it. Suck it up, jerks, Oh jeez, just jack you up that way. So yeah, if you like your classic rock, that the that Boston Pack drops on the Xbox three sixty today and on Thursday, on the PlayStation three. Yes, yes, so woo all right, get your Boston on the rock stores out there now, Oh god, the rock store which wrote about on the site, and Alex, I'm sure you are just as enthused about it. You wrote about it it also on your personal blog and yeah, it's great. It's what that game needed from the day yep, totally launched. It's I think they picked right about the right time to roll it out because it was really just about out a hand over the last two or three weeks where you're like, there's too much music on this and there's no way, there's no way to sort stuff on the marketplace. Uh yeah, yeah, it was just a mess, but it only become a real problem, I think over the last two or three weeks. So they rolled it out and said, hey, we know it's been a bitch. Here you go like, oh yeah, they fixed some other stuff in the process. It's cool. You can now get your your your songs, your downloadable content stuff ahead of time. Yeah. Yeah, that was something I didn't realize difficulty settings, like oh right, that Paramore song. Yeah, then I realized, oh wait, I love Rome by the B fifty two is awesome. Picked up Yeah, I wasn't sure if I knew that song at all. While we're on the topic, I do not know Rome. I do know Rome, I just didn't know that was the name of the song Rome. If you want to Rome around the World, Yeah, it could have been around the World, as far as I knew, I don't around the world. Around the world should be in rock band, Yes, that would be really fun. Well, yeah, we've talked about there needs to be a daft punk music game. Yeah, or just actually that was that was what brought us into the ice cube thing last week. I think some sort of daft punk would be pretty awesome, driving slash walking. Well, what we're on the topic of musical games. Guitar manufacturer Gibson decided that it was gonna get its dirt bags. They're gonna go out and they had a patent that data back to nineteen ninety nine that vaguely kind of says that they are going to make some sort of music game type virtual stimulator interface. Anyways, Uh, they're using this patent they that they have to try and see the pants off of basically everyone involved in the the production of the Rock Band distribution and all of Yeah, every single stop on the chain and TV and Ea, they're going after Activision, going after Walmart. Yeah, yeah, that makes sense. What seems crazy to me is that Gibson has been in bed with these guys for a while. They've been Gibson Guitars and yeah a Guitar Hero, yeah, forever. And now that deal has expired and now hey, look, lawsuit weird out. Yeah. I guess Gibson realized, oh wait, we're not gonna get our cut of that anymore. Now that les up's just get a fat lump of it. Well, it's a pretty stupid lawsuit, and Harmonics agrees. They released this excellent statement, it is unfortunate that Gibson unfairly desires to share in the tremendous success enjoyed by the developers of rock Band and Guitar Hero. This lawsuit is completely without merit and we intend to defend it vigorously. Gibson's patent, filed nearly ten years ago, requires a three display, a real musical instrument, and a recording of a concert. Rock Band and Guitar Hero are completely different. Among other things, they are games, require no headset, and use a controller only shaped like a real instrument. That's fairly different. That just sounds like, like, dude, Gibson, what Yeah, basically, I'm actually really stoked that they came out with such a lengthy statement. Yeah. They just normally statements about lawsuits are like, well, we can't talk about it. We just think it's about merit art peace. And it's like, ah, they're dusted. And here's why, Gibson, you crazy? Oh you know what else is crazy? Jeff is smooth transition, Yes, nice one, A seamless passing of the baton. Oh, chugging drinks. You know what, I'm out here, I'm on e here, no more mojo energy for you. I'll just I'm gonna go and grab some more while I do that. What should we discuss? You know what's crazy is the fact that g T A four is freaking almost out man. Oh yeah, I know. That's like I realized this last week because they post a bunch of new screenshots of the game and also put out a couple of radio widgets, which is basically just little previews of a couple of the radio stations. The talk station, the conservative talk station is Choice. I really really like what they have there, and just it reminds you of how great the talk radio in past GTA games has been. Yeah, and that's something that that hasn't really been duplicated. I mean, you know, it's like everyone out there is trying to make their GTA style game. Everyone has kind of taking their crack at it. And I think with the exception of Saints Row, which I think actually has some pretty funny talk radio in it. Also Keith David also, yeah, also Keith, two key elements in making that no one has really done it right. No one has really has really done it better than rock Star has. Well. I mean, it's just the writing in those games has always been pretty spot on because the people who write them, Yeah, clearly, you know, have a pretty good sense of how dialogue should be and how that kind of stuff and how to parody stuff. Yeah, there's I mean, yeah, rock Star's sharp sense of satire has always been one of its biggest strengths, definitely, and I think that, to me, has been more than anything, the best part about the GTA games. Yeah, I mean, I think I think also that's true for for Bully, Oh yeah, absolutely, as much as it's it's satire, it's homage, it's ability to kind of evoke these things that you're familiar with and then throw you in the middle of them. Yeah, but it's like, yeah, I mean GTA is almost out. Like looking at the official slight for that game, which I hadn't done yet, it's like I've kind I kind of was just avoiding or missing out on a lot of the information about the games because I kind of some turmoil while a lot of that stuff picked up. Yeah, oh yeah, we had some other things going on, like I heard about. So it's like now to kind of come out of the other side and be like, oh snap, Like, look at all this stuff. This game looks awesome almost out. Yeah, and it's almost out. What's weird to me is in all these screenshots, I have not yet seen any real gameplay video in action of this. Yeah. But and yeah, that's again classic rock Star, pretty typical. Here's a picture of a fast food joint. But this you can discern one nugget of gameplay from this, but only if you stare at it and think for a really long time. But this seems like the most severe like that since GTA three, Like it seems like they did kind of start giving you more actual gameplay stuff for both VI City and San Andreas, but this one it's it's they're being real. It's like they're talking about the phone and how that changes the way missions work. You know, they're they're talking about the way breaking into cars is different now, and the importance of stuff like taxis and drunk driving and these little bits and pieces that you know we'll figure into it, but they're not telling you here's how easy it will be to modown cops, because that's that's the thing that Rockstar Never, No, Never really dwells on because they know that that just leads to a really negative place for them. So yeah, it takes you know, once the game is out on shelves, takes about a day or so for everyone to record videos of them blowing up cop cars and running people over. Then it all starts all over, right, right a problems begins. Ado. Yeah, I can't wait, I can't Yeah, I'm super excited about g T A four. But I want to say this because I also don't want to sound like too much of a naysayer. But odd thing about these screenshots is it like the level of quality from screenshot to screen shot seems to vary so wildly right, and like and also in weird ways, like different elements in each screenshot seem to be like better or worse. Like sometimes like the texture on his jacket looks really good and it's like you get to feel like that's a damn track suit that's real, and the other times it just looks flat and bad. I think this game will will evoke the old GTA in a lot of ways, including the ways where it sometimes looks kind of messed up and Sugar Raid is occasionally jacked and well, I mean it definitely has like this the right like flat color tone that you want, especially in Liberty City. Totally. I don't think there's a game I'm looking forward to more right now than that. Yeah, which is weird for me because normally kind of how the Grand Theft Auto Cycle would go is the game would you know GTA three came out and you're like, Wow, this is the most amazing game ever made, and then it just suddenly becomes well, there's no way they can do that again, Like, there's no way that they can make a game better than that. You know that there's there's and then they make Vice City and you're like, oh geez, and there away and then like and then you know that just ups the end even more. You're like, well, okay, now they you know, there's nothing they could possibly do. And then San Andreas came out, which I was even better. So yeah, I don't know. It'll be weird to see how g t A four is. Like I always find myself super skeptical and then all of a sudden super excited in like the week before it comes out, only now it's like a month before it comes out. I'm like, whoa, whoa, this is coming out of the thing that keeps popping up in the back of my mind is I want another Vice City game? Like I realized that that Vice City probably my favorite of the g t A game so far. Perhaps you should play Vice City Stories for the PSP. And that wasn't that was not great, that's not that's not the Vice City sequel. Do you think do you think that we're going to see this? You think after GTA four we will see GTA four Vice City? Why not? I mean that's the cycle they've used since GTA one. Really yeah, you know GTA one had all those those environments in there, and you know they haven't really broken out of it too much. I mean GCA too took place in the near future, and stupid j g T two it came up with a gang concept. There. There were a lot of kind of dumb things about GTA two, but I liked where it's head was at sure. And then there was GTA London, which is the only time they've done like a real world place. I would like to see them break out of the Liberty City, Vice City, San Andreas cycle and come up with something and do Toronto. Yeah, the t DOT because it's I mean they could dude, yes, because they it would be the GTA the Greater Toronto area, so it would be g T A four GTA. Yes, I've stumbled upon a gold mine. You're your first next next game is g T A four GTA. So that's awesome, and that's very soon. That's April April the first. It's twenty ninth in Europe, twenty fifth year. I think I think you're probably ready. That's what it is. Well, fantastic, we're well informed here. Games things coming out sometimes soon get out in April, sending out those custom painted three sixties with the box. Yeah. Complex Magazine got one of those, and that's where the initial shots came from but on the Billionaire Boys Club blog run by Farrell of the Neptunes and the NRD that far Yeah he got one star track. They got one of them. So basically, anyone who the Housers think are awesome. Yeah, anyone who would get like limited edition pairs of shoes direct from the manufacturer is also getting one of these tastemakers taste Makers. Maybe maybe there's a Neptune song in the game. We don't really know what the soundtrack for that game is really said too much. Well, like those those little radio widgets, they give you kind of the tone, like you get the sense of what sort of stuff is going to be on there, Like there's going to be a disco and potentially modern electronic music station, there's the Afro soul station. I'm gonna say there'll be some LCD sound system in that game. It's my guess. I would say a lot of India electro, a lot of like DJ heavy hip hop, and probably own. Yeah, there you go. DJ Greenland has set in there. Yeah, there you go. Or yeah, he's on a station. It's not all his station, but he does a DJ set in there, so so look for that hip hop hip hop also let's see here. Last week, the special forces in So Calm Confrontation were unveiled, which is only really interesting to me because the way that this is being laid out, and this was reported on by by one up, is that in order to like get all of the gear, like the uniforms, the gear of the weapons for these special forces, you have to join a clan. Yeah, like if you're if you're playing kind of lone wolfing it by yourself, there's one set of progression there, and then they make it sound like there's a different set of progression once you're in a clan that you'll get access too if you're on your own. Old plans commandos, mercenaries. Yeah, they had they like cels, the Sas, the the KSK in Germany, the UOE in Spain, and I don't these crazy French frogs are going to be in there also. So yeah, So yeah, I think that's that's kind of an interesting way to break things up. I'm not a huge So So Calm fan, but I think that's a neat twist. Yeah, I mean, you know, and so Calm has had a pretty active clan scene, so it makes sense to cater to those players and this is a download only game, all right. Well, actually they'll probably do a retail disc similar how they did Warhawk, but it'll be a downloadable game with multiplayer only. So it makes sense to kind of cram in as many different ways to advance in multiplayers as they can. I mean, you play So Calm for the multiplayer anyway, you know, it's never really been about the single player can definitely. Yeah. It's like like somewhere Sony Bend or you know, Zipper or whatever is is working on a full fledged So Calm sequel in addition to this, and I have to wonder like why, I mean, it'll have its own multiplayer component, but do we really need a single player No, the answer is no. Why. What I think is really clever about this is is you're right, this is totally a multiplayer focus game, and this is a smart way to get people to you know, really invest in you know, the team work kind of aspect of it, which is you know, huge to the game. Right. Yeah, I think that'll probably inspire more players to get involved in clans. It's like, oh, if I want to get to the you know some of this really cool stuff, I'm gonna have to go and you know, actually talk to dudes and and stuff like that, which I know you're not a big fan of. I just want. Yeah, Like it's got me wondering, like maybe I can join a clan played just enough to get the stuff and then quit and still have it. Like will that work if you hang out with smoke Dog for twenty enough, eventually you get all the cool stuff. Yeah, my buddy coke Machine, I'm gonna play a lot of so calm. Yeah. Uh So. Keeping up with the thread of indie game discussion we've had on this show so far, indias game, we're moving back to that. Well, it's it's through weaving. We're weaving different threads, weaving weaving a tail indie game on the nines and the sevens. So they've started selling these indie game inspired t shirts at of all places, Target Totally, which totally we look at here. I mean there's like there's a Oh for that, there's a Tower of Good one, there's a few different ones. What what actually makes this was genuinely interesting though, is that when you buy the shirt, you also get a like hard copy of the game that it's inspired by. That's who's it's a game of shirt pack. It's shirt pack. Who's distributing this stuff? Crazy people apparently, you know I psychos. Yeah, you know. Target has actually had pretty good design for a while. Like if you go and look in there, like weird T shirt set stuff for a while, it's it's kind of odd. You don't think that you'd find anything that interesting at Target, but there you go. Yeah, the tar so of of all places for indie games to show up, head on down to your local Target. Heartland great great great land, great landet both. I think they both might mean different things. Okay, do we know for a fact that it's like Altaria that have this stuff? Because I I don't want to walk into my Target and be sorely disappointed. You guys have where's the indie games? Uh? So this is being released by EGP Apparel. Okay, and uh yeah they're doing this, I guess just with just with Target at the time being. But an interesting thing and a near place, a neat way to distribute those those games. That's kind of cool. Yeah, that's crazy. Indeed. Uh let's see here what else it's going on in the world around us? Sonic the Hedgehog, Yeah, the Blue Blur himself, God damn it. Why still talking about So there was there was this leak because I because I want to I want to put this one to bed, all right. So this week this leak last week of images that were purportedly of this new Sonic game called Sonic Unleashed. And then there was a gameplay video that showed a lot of very two d uh style gameplay but with three D graphics. And now Sega has owned up to it, saying, yes, we're making a new Sonic game, and it sounds like they're trying to once again revitalize the Sonic franchise. And I looked at the video and I thought this looks kind of cool. I could be kind of into this. And then I was looking at this, these these screenshots, and there's this one of Sonic next to his wolf Sonic form. Apparently he can turn into a wolf. Turn into a wolf. Well it works so well for Link and Hedgehog can turn into a wolf. Yeah, Hedgehogs and wolves they're where Hedgehog, they're intertwining. If it happens that way, if you get bitten by a were wolf and then get turned into a warehog and then have to chase down the wolf or whatever, like that's the only way that can work. Well, this this this one screenshot. Have you seen this stuff yet? A little bits? It's like the way it's the way it's shown. It looks like he's in the darkness in an alley. So I imagine there will be some gameplay mechanic that if you see the moon, you turn into a thing and and it was all yours. It collects eight moon crystal. It dawned on me up to Amy. I bet it's the cat. I bet somehow Eggman's behind this. Why do why do I keep giving Sonic the Hedgehog chances? Why does the world keep giving Sonic the Hedgehog? Because innumerable second chance it's the handsome, abusive husband of the video game industry. It is the you know, he's charming, he's got these It was just it was so nice at the beginning, and they just don't know him like I do. Yeah, and then you know, one day he just turns around and he knocks your two front teeth out, leaves you bleeding on the floor. So you're saying that song of the Hedgehog should be played by Bruce Greenwood, Yes, okay, yeah, Sonic the Hedgehog or Greenwood. Very Yeah, it's it because there was a time when Sonic meant something long time ago. But that's what I'm saying is it was so like like Sonic had a higher CU rating than Mario. All it all it took me. All it took was that awful Bomberman Acts zero for everyone to just say done with Bombers, wash my hands of that. Bomberman was never as big within the collective consciousness as Sonic was. Sonic had a much greater money, has been so much worse for so much light. But look at what they did with Bomberman. They've now realized that they cannot update that formula. They have to stick to exactly what works, and they can never do anything with it ever again. Yeah, and with the Sonic and Lease stuff, you see them maybe sort of learning that partially and trying to make a two D game again. But at the same time, I don't think that two D game. I don't think that dog will hunt anymore. No, I don't think. So, you know, it's like I'm gonna hold of the right and it can be really fast, Like that'll be cool for like kids, because like when I you know, when I was well, I think the Sonic Rush games still work, and that's still they work, but only in a retro sense, you know, like if you try and make a full fledged three D Sonic game, then you then you realize like, oh, it's it's just like a two D like huh. The reason they keep I just don't think that works. I think the reason they keep making them is because there are still people like, whenever we talk crap about Sonic, there are always people that keep coming into the comment sections saying, well, you gotta talk bad about Sonic, man, why you gotta keep kicking them while they're down. They're gonna make a great one some day, come on. Yeah, because I like Big the Cat, because there are yea, because there are too many genuinely good games for me to continue giving them. Yeah. I think the one exception I'll say is I think that the RPG the Sonic Chronicles, But you only give a damn about that because it's BioWare right, I give a damn of that about that because it looks like a cute, c and fun RPG. Yeah, that they could rip Sonic and his Menagerie of Idiots out of it and uh and replace it with anything, And you know, the second they started, the second they started throwing other characters in that franchise is when it all started going down. Sonic Adventure, Yeah yeah, like, my god, the characters in that series are of the time. I think a lot of people were really blinded by Sonic Adventure. They were like, dude, this is the future three D games. Oh my god. And I think a lot of people bought into Sonic Adventure, Like looking back on it now that I totally feel like that I was bamboozled at the beginning of the end, right there. Yeah, playing you know what, for me, Sonic three was the beginning of the end. Yeah, I disagree. I'm a big fan of Sonic three point once they read, once they rea drew Sonic, it was done. I play it just playing Marios and Sonic at the Olympics, Like seeing the collection of characters in that game and just made me remember exactly how awful, like just the series, like a character list is. It's so bad. Yeah, big the cat is always the obvious. You see that and you go, oh god, damn it, man, Yeah, Sonic, So there you go. They had Sonic Unleashed coming soon. Look for that. Yeah, be excited or will will he make it with a human woman in this one like he did in the last game? You know what I say Again, these these screenshots seemed to continue to want to make the world of Sonic look like the world of Final Fantasy, Like it still has that same weird like like you could tell that this was made in Japan right style, like that kind of look to it. It's like this should be like the old Sonic games, super colorful and cartoony and weird. Not this trying to make it look somewhat realistic. It's a little dark and oh man, Sonics, it's colorful character, but he's trapped in a dark world. Yeah, it's like, whoever the moody asshole is at Sega that is like designing these games like they need to get someone else to do it, because straight up, like the whole emo thing not working. I think they just need to cut loose and and take takes Sonic to where the Hudson took bomber Man and say, all right, we're only going to roll this character out in completely left field, crazy ways. That makes sense, and in games that are basic remakes of the game we were making in the nineties. So basically, they're just gonna make Sonic rush on the DS exactly like which is I would define one? Yeah, just like, here you go, it's a two D Sonic game for DS and PSP. Done. Yeah, that is where that is where Sonic should live from now on and in the occasional Olympics game. I'm yeah, I'm done done with it. Yep, so can we can? We don't even need to where it would go, but yeah, sure, moving on, rock band coming to the Wii. All right, we're talking about rock band again. White drums, white du drums, the whitest. I do not care about this story until I saw the screen of the white white drums. Oh man, it just a just a bone white drum kit there. It's majestic, isn't it? It truly is. How filthy is that going to get? And how extremely dude? My black drums already look dirty. I don't even want to think about what the white ones are gonna look like after a while. Yeah, no, it's it's it's not gonna be good. But so so you're you're you're saying that you're gonna get rock band on the Wii. I'm thinking about it. Why for no reason just because I don't know, because downloadable, it'll be like the PS two. It is the PS two version. Yeah. There they are making the PS two version again for the Wii. Yeah. No no waggle, no weird like we specific features. Yeah. You don't even cook a wee remote into these things. They just plug in direct now now there just be hub all that stuff. Yeah. So yeah, yeah, and you know whatever, I the PS two version of rock Band worked. Yeah, it was, it was. It was. It was full motion video of a band that you could yourself could not create, but the gameplay all worked just fine. Well that's that's what the we version of too. If you if you've got a wee and nothing else and you want to play rock bands, I'll let you do that soon enough. Yeah, this is only really interesting bonus songs. It's only really interesting to me because white drups drums. Otherwise, I don't really care. It's just and all the all the bonus songs are just gonna be bands with the word white in it. It's a white snake, great white what else names something else? White stripes. There you go, white stripes. Uh huh. That's three, so there will be two more that I haven't thought of or the other two I don't know. I haven't thought of them yet. Exclusive unannounced. I can't say new bands being formed within Harmonics. White lines will be in it. That's a song, uh huh, Yeah, not a band. Huh. That's that's that counts. Okay. Well, while you while you continue to try to think up other bands with the word white in them, Jeff and I will talk about p S three firmware updates that drop today. Yeah, two point two zero two point two, So big thing like a lot of media players stuff, some web browser fix. This big thing is Blu Ray Disc Profile two point zero or Beaty Live. I originally put this on on the the docket for today's show because the rumors leading up to the release of the patch was that it was going to allow this this copy feature, so that you could actually take a standard standard definition version of a movie that's on Blu Ray and copied over your PSP. Now it sounds like they're still talking about this. Yeah, maybe this will make two point three, but they squashed it. Yeah, I mean they kind of said that it was coming at some point, whether it would be something that would be compatible with every disc or if would be just there would be a PSP form added version on the disc already that they would just copy over. I don't really think they got too deep into that, but they are planning something like this in the future, just not here yet, And I think that sounds interesting, but I'm kind of done watching video on the PSP. I don't know, like I'm never in a situation where that makes sense. Yeah, I think it's just more novel than anything. It's like, it's like, wow, that's a really great feature. And yeah, if you're on planes a lot or something like that, if you're if you're a jet setter. If I'm on a plane, I've usually got a laptop. Yeah, which case, watch a DVD. Yeah, it's SLF a laptop of the blue right drive on it. Done? All right, Uh, let's get back to hip hop. Okay, let's so we're weaving back to that thread. Yes, so we're back to music again, but hip Yeah, where hip hop within within the our our music discussion. We're gonna get to hip hop again. Jeff get excited. Fifty cent two, fifty cent two, fifty cent the sequel fifty cent two. All I know is that there is a a leaked e GM cover that just says fifty cent two on it. Great. I guess the thinking is that that's a sequel to Bulletproof, yeah, fifty cent Bulletproof, or or maybe it's not and fifty cent is just gonna make a completely different game now, or maybe it won't even be a game. Maybe the let's be a sequel to fifty cent making records now, one that is actually hungry still and is able to put out songs that aren't complete garbage. One, one that can do something besides mumble a lot. And he'll be called the dollar. Fifty on the dollar, fifty cent to the dollar. It's two fifty cents is a dollar. Maybe I'll just like take young Buck out back and shoot him nine times and say, all right, kid now, even that's that's how it happens. It's how you become fifty cents magically transform. Yeah. So the thought of another fifty cent game I find really scary. Yeah, well, you know, Vivendi made a bundle on fifty cent Bulletproof. It did is absolutely the reason that they're doing another one, which I think I think at this point a new fifty cent game needs to actually be like a tycoon simulator where you sell stock and vitamin water and have nothing to do with guns or rap or anything. It's just like a boardroom game. It's like a mansion simulator. Here you go, stay inside, check it out, film yourself talking mess about fat Joe, all right, put inside Mike Tyson's house. Like it just needs to be this cold, calculating business simulator. They just need to take whatever game they made for the Apprentice, jack it up and put fifty cent into said Donald Trump. Oh God, don't ever break up the Apprentice game to me again, please for the love of game. I mean, it does seem like a little late for another fifty cent game, right, Like, fifty cent is not he's he does not evoke. He does not evoke the same thing that he did win that game first. Right, he's more well known as a businessman, and he's more successful as a businessman than he is as a rapper at this point. But if you're fifty cent now you're looking for any sort of like quit grab it relevance you can take. And if you're Vivendi, you're doing pretty much the same thing. Like I wonder if that'll be one of the games that ends up getting acted after the act would have to approve why their game should exist. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. Like I have a real sore spot about the fifty cent game because seeing that game before it came out, it actually looked like it could be kind of awesome, and then it wasn't, and then it was not, like well, like what was like the shooting seemed fine, Like there was just a lot of stuff to it that that seemed like, all right, well, they're just making Max pain with more cursing, and it played it seemed like something that if they polished it up in this direction and cleaned up this and that, like it could be a really serviceable, like like pretty good shooter that had the kind of the added humor of fifty cent being in it, and then instead it just became junk. I don't know, fifty cent seems like a pretty thoroughly humorless dude to me. I'm not saying I'm saying unintentional Okay, I'm not. I'm not saying like because sus yeah, that it was just it was so over the top that it seemed like it could have been really funny. You know. It was like eminem was playing a cop in the game, Like, like on the surface, like on paper, that game sounds like it could actually be pretty good. I do like that casting choice, and it actually played it, you know, it's it was something that could have played a lot better than it did. So it was kind of disappointing because it could have actually been a decent licensed game, but instead it was just like here are nine instrumentals of fifty cent songs, and you can fire up his sidekick and and look at fifty cent videos and just like all this stuff was just so in the way of it being a game that it just it fell apart. I remember I remewed the PSP version of that game, which actually was like totally totally different game that was that was that was hip Hop Diablo is what that game was. It was like it was like a corridor crawl with hip hop see a new stage name hip Hop Diablo, and see again, like that sounds it sounds super appealing. When I first actually saw that game at E three before it came out, and I sat down with it for a little while, all right, yeah, yes, hip Hop Diablo, that sounds fantastic. I do like the idea there. But then you know, again, at the execution painfully boring, not so great. So I didn't have all the cut scenes from the main game so great. Yeah, it just it seems like the sort of thing that they should not be given the opportunity taking to the crack out it, especially because the fifty cent license, the fifty cent brand is just not what it used to be. Yeah, I mean, if they're going to do this because it is a brand. Yeah, we're not even talking about the man. We're talking about the fifty cent empire. Now is the time to capitalize on the flow Ride a brand. That was the time to give him his own game. If it was like fifty cent two, we remove fifty cent and put in someone more relevant like that would make more like flow Rider. I don't even know you're you're want to talk pops and whistles over there. I have no idea what you're even saying. It's Florida with the space in it because he's from Florida, he's a Southern rapper. Well, let's not talk about that anymore. What about Little Wheezy should get his game, get a game, Little Wayne. I'm surprised Little John hasn't gotten a game yet. He did, he had Little Wayne Crunk Golf Little John. Okay, that doesn't count though. Was a mobile game remy Ma doing a bid for shooting a friend of hers the game. All right, I just want to remind everyone she just wishes that she could bring punback. That is that so wrong? Halo three Heroic Pack. The mat pack is free. So if you're still playing the Halo three and you didn't buy that stuff originally, you can. You can go hit a button and get it for nothing. Now, go get it for nothing. So so if you've got Halo three and you want to keep playing it, do it. I'm probably actually gonna do the thing that will kind of bring me back to Halo three, which I haven't played in a very long time. Yeah, I don't even own it. Yeah yeah, all right, well you don't get to talk during this segment that all right? Yeah? Uh yeah, And those maps did sound like they were probably pretty good. Uh there's the like a foundry map that is specifically made for Forge mode that that seems like it offers a lot of really crazy options. Well I think yeah. It seems to me though that if you want to keep playing or you know, play Halo three online at all, you're gonna have to go get this now that it's free, because everyone definitely definitely, yeah for sure. So so there's that, and then then the legendary pack is coming. They've they've been talking about those maps. They already have another mat pack in the works, So it's kind of a nice way to to say, like, all right, now these maps are gonna be free, and by the way, here's the next thing we're working on. Hopefully you'll get back into it with this FreeMap pack. And then by the next one, Jeff, you want to talk about the drama on Xbox three sixty right now? Yeah, So this this came out this morning on xbox dot com. Major Nelson boasted about it, like all every every Microsoft news sources has posted something about this. They are cracking down on people that have been cheating with achievement points quabam, which the crackdown is is in is happening, and they're not being like nice about it either. They're they're straight up putting like they're zeroing out achievement scores, Like they have a bunch of methods with which they can determine if you have been earning your achievement points. Uh in a nefarious fashion via the use of you know, say, like downloading save games. Is that is that their definition of cheating? Have they have they come out about it, They said it it's tool based stuff. Like they're not gonna say like, oh, will you hit the B button for two minutes and got a thousand points? That's not the way it was meant to be played. Blah blah blah, Like it's not about that. I think it's more about you downloaded saves. You got these achievements without actually playing the game and zeroing them out that way. And it seems like it has turned to the three sixty leader board on its head. H Yeah, I think if it hasn't already, it certainly will. Strip Club DJ has the first real account that I've seen that's been zeroed out. He was one of the top, one of the top guys. And yeah, you go to his page on Xbox dot com right now. They actually have a little link right there that says this guy is cheating. Click here for more information, like the straight up scarlet letter on the pro market. And apparently you'll be able to see that on the console as well, and the players won't be able to earn those achievements ever again, they'll be able to earn achievements moving forward in other games and other you know, achievements they didn't get nefariously, but those are gone forever. So here's my question to you, Jeff. Does this make achievements meaningful again? It helps? Yeah. I think it's something that they absolutely had to do because it was something that was way too easy, and they worked on fixing it. But apparently they didn't fix it all the way because I think people were still doing it. Yeah, you know, it's just like more people like hex editing their saves and doing all this stuff. Yeah, so I don't know, I think it Yeah, I think it definitely helps. It's a system that when they can eliminate all that stuff is made more meaningful. But they are being harsh and strict about it. No appeals, right, because they claim that if they get you for this, it's because they know one hundred percent that you are a bad person. So I think that's that's pretty cool. Well, the guy's name was Strip Club DJ, so right, it was pretty set and the person yeah, and I don't know what happened. It's probably not related to this, but like Rants six, who was the account that was the guy in Italy was trying to sell it on eBay. I think that's got changed. I think that the name of that got changed, and now there's a different Rant six because it only has like ten thousand points on it. Now, I haven't been following that scene too closely, but it seems like this would would be the thing that would rock it to its very foundation. Yeah, I just got ten thousand points. Finally, I just cracked it way to go. Yeah, I just got fifty six thousand. I hate you. I'm at like forty seven guys. You guys are insane. I don't even understand how you do that. How you spend that much time playing Open Season and getting points? Oh it's because I had this thing that you can use to download games save. Oh no, I'm interested in watching my account because at one point I actually I actually did buy one of these things and did some research with it, and uh so, like there was a save. I don't think I got any achievements off it, but I at one point loaded up someone else's save and to see if it worked, and it did. So I'm wondering if like that's going to be enough or whatever. But we'll see all right. Well that's uh, that's pretty much the weekend video games. Yeah, let's get into emails emails and this this is where our emails. Intro music will plays. Yeah you email emails? I like it. Uh. First one comes in from Dan k Uh homeboy almost got and I this just makes me happy in a really weird way. Homeboy almost got expelled from school for checking out giant bomb dot com on a school computer. Outstanding. You know, so they have they have the the Internet monitoring software. And I guess this kid during art class, which probably don't don't go and check giant bomb dot com during art class. Come on, I don't know, do some art attention to the art class. What we're doing is art man. He was just looking for well apparently apparently someone saw that he was looking at giant bomb and a video called how to Build a Bomb? So uh and and freaked out and he had to are you happy to use the situation with yourselves? Are you happy with the life you've made? And what you joked? We joked about this the first time that we did one of those videos, and like, oh this, let's get us on all the FBI lists. And here's the first fallout of of that naming choice. Great work, guys, so fantastic work. Anything we can do to help Dan, Dan, Thanks for writing that's a fantastic little story. Here's a question from Curtis from Washington, Iowa. I think Kurt's written into us before. Yeah. Uh. He wants to know Collo Duty four. Now. We've been talking about this more lately because they got the new map PAP map map pack coming out. I can't talk today. Yeah uh. And he wants to know what what perk do you find yourself using the most? What is your favorite perk in Colo Duty four? I use stopping power, deep impact, and grenade times three. Those are the three I use. I have to say philosophically, Martyrdom I think is probably the most interesting and thus my my favorite call of duty four. I think that is my favorite. I don't really use it that much, but I do have like one of my custom classes, I have a shotgun on and says you're up close a little more with a shotgun. It makes sense to have Martyrdom with that configuration, So I do have it there. Do you think it out way more than I do? I just think it's funny to kill a dude with my dropped grenades after he kills me. Yeah, but then, like everyone is now much smarter and does not die as frequently. It's hard, it's harder, but when you do get it, it's still really sweet. Yeah, And with the shotgun you get it more because you're inspired to run up on dudes and get a lot closer. So I find myself getting most of my martyrdom kills that way. My fantastic And I'd never used last dand I think it sucks. And Alex, you don't really play. I don't really play a lot of comming for so not much called duty for for you. So moving on question from Blant asks simply sausage or bacon, bacon, bacon, sausage, I'm just saying sausage is pretty good. Sausage is fine, but I love sausage. There's so much can be a bit much when I so much more variety. Like if I'm like, let's say, bacon's crispy, it can be. When it's crispy, it's good. Yes, I like it very hard for crispy. Yes indeed, yes, I just like the variety of sausages that I can get. I bet you do alright, this is already taken. I'm not sing that one. That's that's as far as that one goes. All right, Oh, let's let it, let it be, Let it be said. Two votes are bacon, one for sausage. There you go. This is not so much a question, I guess it is a question. David Henry writes in and says, do you know that across the pond cool ranch doritos are called cool American? Oh my god, I did not know that fun fact from from David Henry. Thank you frightening. You know in America like school ranch doritos. Don't be fooled. I do. Yeah, two against one again. Move. Let you guys go to Russia. Then you comy bastards Venezuela. Maybe I will because you're an American whatever. Man, you know what flavored doritos hide out with your Nazi brethren in Argentina cheese? I like that. Yeah you're a red commie. Yeah, I eat the red. I eat the red up destroy it blue, he would. Uh. This one comes in from Chris Grau in Tokyo, and he writes simply, cinnamon toast crunch milkshakes. Yep, totally all right. This one's from Tim. He writes in says, I have ten dollars. I can go see either Doomsday or Never Back Down? Which would you choose? Never back Down? One hundred thousand times? I say Never back Down. Well, that that was the option. We had this put to us on on Sunday. Yeah, when out from Easter Sunday, when we're in a bar. Yeah. Yeah, we had a little English breakfast for to celebrate Easter Sunday with a group of friends and drinking before noon ace plus one drink for every station of the Cross, So thanks Jesus. But yeah, then there was a party that that splintered off and was gonna go see Doomsday. Some of them gonna go see Doomsday again. Oh oh man, Oh that's all some folks there if they already seen its, like we're gonna go again. Well, if they had been going to see Never Back Down, I would have went with them. Yeah, So I believe I have not seen either movie. I believe in Never Back Down's ridiculousness far more than I believe in Doomsdays. Yeah, it's I think it's a tough call, but I'm gonna have to go with you guys, Never back Down, Never back down, never back down something for me far more. Primarily it has high school MMA fighters. There's an evil high school MMA fighter that is beating up other kids, and so the kid has to learn MMA so he can he can take down the evil high school m A fighter and Digimon Hansu Yes, yep, yep, how do you say no? Fully? The strong for a new generation dude totally, which is basically the karate Kid for it's two generations ahead of Karate Kid. Karate Kid is the grandfather of never back down. Yeah, God, so bad. So yeah, go waste your money that one. That's that's our recommendation. Is I still really want to see Southland Tales? Oh no, that's that's out on DVD. Now, I'm gonna get a hold of that. Yeah, I'm want to see it too. Get it on the Blue rays ray. Quit moaning about. I know it's gonna be bad, but I want to see get a tank, it says Hustler on the side. Yeah, that does happen. And the rock and the Rocky Johnson. Yeah, I thought about the Doom movie the other day. Uh yeah, yeah, that's pretty bad. Yeah, excep for that one part where it turns into doom. Yeah, when it turns into a first person shooter, that is that was that is a laugh, right, That's why I refused to see it that one minute. Once I heard that was in there, I was like, I don't want to see this movie. It's so weird, it's so bizarre. All right, Moving on, this question comes in from JP and Montreal. It's actually pretty interesting one, at least to me. Uh, you know, he's talking about Condemned two. I'm already bored by it. And uh, you know, if you if you look at the video for this stuff and Jeff, you see me play it, it is gruesome. Oh yeah, this game is brutal as hell. Yeah, it does not shy away from showing horrible murder and execution. Yeah. So, like kind of the question is why did this not get the same sort of scrutiny that man Hunt two did, which arguably is about the same level of nastiness. Why was there like you've not even heard your bit. It's because you're beating up the crazy and the homeless, but you're just kind of beating up and double standard. You're saying, there's definitely a doublet you're murderizing, you know, random thugs in in man Hunt two. It's not like you're going after harmless civilians or anything. Yeah, well, there you go. It's because man Hunt two was put out by rock Star and there's your double standard. Yeah, straight up. The next one comes from Chris in Millstone, New Jersey. He wants to know why the hell are there no board games on Xbox Live Arcade. I want to play classics like Monopoly, Risks, Scrabble and Clue online and there are nowhere to be found. What online board games would you shell out cash for? I think this is a fantastic Yeah, I agree. I mean with the successive Uno especially like why hasn't there been another game that has tried to tap into that exact thing? It just it's weird that the board games they had been going for are these arcane German likes. I mean, though, to be fair, Catan basically is Monopoly but with a different board. I mean, it's the same whatever otional idea. No it's not because I understand Monopoly. Yeah, Monopoly is a square, it's like hexagon. But that's the thing that park place that I landed on free park and not get the money that goes into free parking and people are still playing Catan online is a big drop off that stuff. It's like if people are still willing to play that game, like, you know, close to a year later. Yeah, like maybe you know, maybe the Parker brothers are not interested. Yeah, which would suck. But you know, I would love to play some Monopoly on. I would play the hell out of some Clue online. That would be great for like one time Clue could be all right, that'd be great to play once the Mad Magazine game where you have to lose to win VCR Clue. Yes, why I the VCR Clue VCR tape and put it on DVD, so I'm already one step ahead. Well, then they also made they also made a Clue DVD game they did totally different though. Yeah, Popmatic Trouble for Xbox Live. Sorry, yeah, yeah, I don't know, like yeah, I think the mouse Trap, Monopoly and Risk would be good ones. Yeah, like stuff Hungry, Hungry Hit, like some of those games that like like mouse Trap or even Popmatic Trouble that are just more like I don't know, roll it like no strategy, Like I don't think those would last. Monopoly totally, Yeah, Monopoly, you put in like a good number of house rules the same way UNO did. Yea, because everyone has their own weird way of playing Monopoly. I think that that would be great. Yeah, report so that I can watch people do drugs while they play it. That would be idea like Uno watching weird Canadians do lines of coke while while playing Uno until the kick me out because they realize I'm not one of them. Well hopefully, Yeah, we'll get to do that with some other cl I said, kids board games that you remember from your child ladders. I think I'm smoking a crack pie. I think so. Trio Solitaire was the last one where I saw like a lot of drug use and nudity when I was playing it. I'm yeah, I'm gonna go to Candyland. Literally, what was it? It was that? Oh no, it was that that board game, like the chess one that had behind the four different That was the one that had it. Because yes, it's Solitaire, not so much but the oh man. Yeah, like I saw a lot of like dudes wearing T shirts with nothing else on. Yeah, it's real bad. Well fantastic, that's gonna do it for for our emails. Oh good note to end things on absolutely uh yeah, that's that's gonna do it. I guess anything else you guys want to bring up, anything that's on what's on your mind? Jeff, Rainbow six Vegas too. Just waiting to see the p S three version of that and then we'll have a review that up. But oh but I've I've ruined the podcast. Your stupid cell phone way to go. I'm sorry. So a review of Rainbow six Vegas two coming soon, review of Bully Scholarship Addiction for the three sixty coming soon. Yeah, review of Condemned two, Bloodshot for PS three, and Xbox three sixty coming soon, All on giant bomb dot com. Yeah, we'll shoot another how to Build a Bomb video this week. I think we might focus on our new foundability to capture screens and videos. Some of that stuff we can show some of that. We have a lot of things in pots. I don't know what that means. I don't know what you what. We're juggling a lot of pots in the air. God, I hope not that sounds harsh full hot pots. All right. So that's gonna do it for the Giant Bomb Cast for for this week. If you want to write in bomb Cast at Giant Bomb dot com. Is the email address any other pertinent information? Three sixty showed up. That's that's what that test message was. My my broken three sixty is bad? Oh excellent? Is it so broken? We're gonna find out when I get home. Now, you can give me back the one that I lent you if it works. It works, and uh dude, no, just keep it. Yeah, I'm just gonna keep it. Sell me the other one. Okay, it has the Adida's face plate on it. Oh, I want that one, all right, you can have it. I had to buy a Japanese three sixty ft Adidas face plate. Twenty dollars yours son. You take a check only if it's a travelers check.
