00:01:07

00:01:14
Speaker 5: Bro.

00:01:14
Speaker 2: It's an absolute blast.

00:01:16
Speaker 4: I don't know how the swing is with you, but you know, for me warming up, I was getting loose.

00:01:21
Speaker 2: Next thing, you know, my.

00:01:22
Speaker 4: Oblaque hurt me like two weeks before it started, and I'm like, all right, I got to slow down.

00:01:26
Speaker 2: So I slowed down.

00:01:26
Speaker 4: I didn't really hit it all and it felt actually pretty good once I did. I think I got eleven home runs and just we came up five points short. It was great. I think the toughest part was playing defense. You got to move, you gotta be ready. If you catch the ball, you get a point. Nick Swisher and company to have a great program over there and home Run Derby X and I'll be doing one more this year in Salt Lake City. So I'm really excited to get going. And now I understand it, and now I know I got plenty of time. I don't need to rush. It was a great experience. I hope everybody enjoys it and comes out it's really fun to watch.

00:02:01
Speaker 5: I'll tell you what if you if you need some extra pop. Call me your boys still locked in? I'm still in. I'm in at your Donna's Haslin playing shape where I could play Sunday. You know what I'm saying, like one, you know, once a month on Sunday. So if you need five extra, I'm telling you I got you, bro, Pull some strings, get your boy in the game.

00:02:19
Speaker 2: Let's go.

00:02:19
Speaker 4: All right, all right, you're in. I look hold on duly noted. I'm I'm just writing it.

00:02:23
Speaker 3: Dowie.

00:02:24
Speaker 2: Yeah he's got a hit too though. Yeah.

00:02:27
Speaker 5: Yeah, what I'm saying, Hey, I'm gonna save you a runner to count on that. And I'm not the old school slapcam maybe right, I'm I'm an old head now thirty Yeah, yeah, we dropping the back show underneath that thing.

00:02:43
Speaker 4: My guy, hey, big Kevin Match was on our team right, fifty one years old. He was diving everywhere. This guy he made a diving catch. He had to hit the next So you play defense for two minutes and thirty seconds. Then your team comes in and hits and he's coming in. He was he was gas had a good opening round. In the last minute, he popped up six and they caught six, so they got six points. It's kind of changed the whole moment of the game. But I give props to him. He was all over the place.

00:03:10
Speaker 3: Six pop ups?

00:03:12
Speaker 1: Do you guys park at you know, the pull power side for a guy and just try and grab.

00:03:17
Speaker 2: No, so it's you go pole power. It's gonna be a foul ball.

00:03:21
Speaker 4: So you know, if you could picture it like going like this right, so say here's the whole field dimensions, they cut it in like a.

00:03:29
Speaker 2: Piece of it. Okay.

00:03:30
Speaker 4: Oh if you if I'm going yank left about you know, twenty thirty forty feet to the left of foul pole fair, it's gonna be a foul ball. They don't count those. If you go dead dead center there's smoke stacks, you get double points. So they want you to go directly centered.

00:03:46
Speaker 1: Oh so that's where you stand then that's where you're trying to grab something that falls short in center face.

00:03:51
Speaker 4: Yes, and you got about twenty twenty five yards from the line you can't cross. Okay, So if it's a short pop up, it's not gonna count. You got to keep two feet in like you're playing in football. It's pretty cool.

00:04:01
Speaker 3: That's cool.

00:04:01
Speaker 5: Yeah, Oh I'm locked in. I'm locked in. It sounds like it's right down my alleys.

00:04:06
Speaker 2: It is. It is.

00:04:09
Speaker 1: That phone call is coming, That phone calls common. All right, let's hit the big leagues right now? What about the Guardian baby. The Milwaukee Brewers just keep stacking up dubs. So they had fifty six hits in those three games against the Nationals over the weekend, and they just continue to thrive. They beat Atlanta yesterday three to one. They're seven and three in their last ten. They have a three game lead over the second place Cubs. And we pair these two together, we're talking inn L Central. Those are the two leading the charge. Cubs lost yesterday, Brewers win, Cubs loose. We forgot to mention this, I think yesterday, but the Brewers did lose the Mize. It sounds like just two starts. It's got bruised. I think Tibia and then Jackson Cheerio's on the shelf right now. But uh, there's other dudes that are now.

00:05:02
Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely, go ahead, Nah, I'm with Sky And as you talked about it, I'm glad you led with that. The Misses going down. Maybe Missis started to Jackson Cheerio, he's down. But this is the this is the special power, the superpower of the Milwaukee Brewers is that there's always somebody ready to step up. I mean, South Friedlich has been outstanding, Caleb Durbin, you know, Peralta has been lights out. There's so many guys that when you look around his lineup, it's somebody every single night, right, it's not just one guy, and it's usually a team effort. And I set it off, Aaron, I'm gonna say it now, the Milwaukee Brewers and Pat Murphy are gonna save the game of baseball. Right when we have these gurus stress and ops and creating holes in the swing and creating guys that aren't complete baseball players, the Brewers and Pat Murphy continue to stick to the blueprint, right, and that's the old school blueprint. Average matters. Can you move guys, can you get guys over? Can you manufacture runs? Fifty six hits?

00:06:01
Speaker 2: Like?

00:06:01
Speaker 5: That's a fun team to watch if I'm a fan, Right, you know something's gonna happen and they're going to find a way to win baseball games. And it's just, you know, a lot of props to the Brewers for each and every year, no matter who's running the show, they continue to go and get ballplayers, and I think again they're gonna say baseball, this is the brand of baseball we need to celebrate and promote even more.

00:06:23
Speaker 4: I love everything you said about that. I love everything you said about the Brewers. We've talked about this a little bit before the show, but there's not many big names on this squad. They got some boys that can just play. And the biggest thing that we talked about was they're a unit. They play together. Nobody's trying to top anybody. Nobody cares if they're on for four. This is a team that goes out there and plays the game the way it should be played. Forget about the paperwork. They have a blueprint of how they want to do it, and they're doing it and nobody else is telling them any different. They got a guy coming up there and just doing their job, getting the guy over, mashing the ball. And guess what hittings can pages When you hit, everybody else wants to hit. They want to step up. I want to come to the party. Knock knock, I'm here. The Brewers are here, and they're here to say, Scottie, it's incredible. A bunch of guys that have played before, and nobody's gonna wow you. They just go out and play, and they play as a unit for one thing only as that is to play for each other.

00:07:19
Speaker 1: It's summertime, it's bathing suit time, and it's time to get a better bathing suit liner. It's twenty twenty five crats. I would like to feel more comfortable, and I would like to thank Fair Harbor for doing that.

00:07:30
Speaker 6: It's super easy. Get the Fair Harbor breezon It liner in your shorts. You can go play football on the beach, you can play paddle ball, and you don't got to worry about that crappy liner that other bathing suits have.

00:07:43
Speaker 3: H It is so comfortable.

00:07:45
Speaker 1: You gotta check it out. I'm telling you, it's like but but a baby. You gotta check out the Fair Harbor not only bathing suits, but they carry a full line of casual clothing shorts, shirts, hoodies. Go to the website Fair Harbor Clothing dot com, slash foul and use code fou l for twenty percent off your first purchase. That's Fair h A R B O R Clothing dot com. Backslash foul for twenty percent off your first purchase, and make sure that you use the ft promo code so that they know we sent you, and you get the discount. Foul best record in baseball by three games. And I like what he said, and I'm sorry, Yeah.

00:08:25
Speaker 5: We cannot skip it because because phrase is right. But Pat Murphy. I played for Pat Murphy, and listen, this is bigger than the players, right. Pat Murphy is a guy who will call you into that that managers that managers all and he's gonna tell you, hey, this is what you do really well, like walk towards and embrace it, step into it. And he gets guys to understand what they do well instead of trying to be somebody that they're not. So I don't mean to interrupt you, Scottie, but we have to give you know, Pat Murphy his flowers. Man, this guy is a leader of men. I've said it before, and he gets the best out of whoever is on that roster.

00:09:00
Speaker 1: Simple mission statement. Actually that relates to what we do. Foul territory baseball the way it should be covered, the Milwaukee Brewers baseball, the way it should be played.

00:09:11
Speaker 3: That's good. Absolutely, it's a T shirt.

00:09:14
Speaker 5: Hey make sure a foul territory gets a percentage of that T shirt when.

00:09:19
Speaker 2: To ching.

00:09:23
Speaker 3: You, you led me right to what I wanted to ask you. Cam.

00:09:26
Speaker 1: We're loving it. It's fun to watch. It's a great brand of baseball. Can this brand win a World Series title this year and get through a National League gauntlet to make it to the World Series? Do they have enough firepower? When October baseball changes? They string together hits. We love it, But then you face the top three starters and the top three relievers for a team, and it gets a little more difficult to string together hits. Do you feel like they needed to get a Geno Suarez to bring more pop to the lineup? They've got some, but did they need more pop, more guys that can change the game with one swing? Or can they just rally teams to death in October?

00:10:04
Speaker 5: Well, I will say this, you name the right guy. I think if there was any guy that would have been fit not only for that clubhouse energy, the togetherness of that team, but that ballpark, it would have been Genos Warres like that would have been the piece that I thought that I think, holy holy crap, it really pushes them over the edge because I do think now after that first series against the Yankees and they proved me wrong. Right that first week it was ugly, but all of a sudden they got guys who are stepping into who they are, right, Guys that know how to get outs, guys that know how to pitch the contact. They played great defense.

00:10:36
Speaker 2: Right.

00:10:36
Speaker 5: All we've talked about is how terrible the Yankees have played defense and how it comes back to bite them in the backside, whether it's defensively, running back. They do everything well. They steal bases, they were more athletic teams in the game. They manufactured runs, They catch the ball. They just play a solid brand of baseball. And I will say right now, when you look at the American League, and you said it before, I think the National League is head and he was beyond is you know the American League when you talk about talent, So I do. When I look at this team, I think, you know, you see a lot of close ball games, one in October, and that's what the Brewers do. So I do think they have a winning pedigree. And even though they had a won the World threes, I think they are in the Brewers Golden Area, Golden era, right. They make the playoffs every single year without the big game, big name guys like Fray said, and they just continue to win. So I think this year, with looking at the Dodgers, how you know this, you know disrupted they are, there is a chance for the Brewers to make it run.

00:11:34
Speaker 2: For sure.

00:11:36
Speaker 1: I'm with you on the National League thing too. I think last year I counted five or six teams that I thought were better than any American League team. And I'm pretty much in the same spot again right now where we stand. Let's get to the Cubs. Though for a moment, we think the Cubs are gonna be okay. I mean, obviously they're in a fine spot. They do have what the tide for second or third best record in baseball. They fall yesterday, tough loss for them and the starter who they acquired, Mike Sorok, who goes down. He's got shouldered his comfort, he's hitting the injured list. We've had Soroke on the show. Super nice guy. He feels, he said, quote embarrassed tood father because he's two innings into his tenure with the Cubs. There's heat on the Cubs because they didn't pick up another starter, and he gets hurt from the jump. He said he actually had an MRI before he got traded. I don't know if that had to do with any discomfort here or just checking something for medicals. I don't know that part. I wanted more information on. But then but he said he felt fine, and then he goes down pretty quickly with the shoulder injury. So how are we feeling about the cubbies in the rotation there?

00:12:44
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, listen, you always worry about rotational pieces. You always worry about pitching. I mean, guys aren't throwing many innings nowadays, So I mean these starters are you know, it's coming extinct. Some of these guys that don't throw that much, they're got there. They're hoping for five and if you get six, you're clapping your hands all the way to the bank. So yeah, if you're Soroka, you're you're disappointed, you're upset, and you're a guy that's you know, trying to help a team win and get back to the playoffs and make some noise, especially when they don't have that other guy.

00:13:13
Speaker 2: So we know the.

00:13:14
Speaker 4: Soroka of olden with the with the braves, how good he was and how good he can be. Again, a little disappointing. I still think the Cups still have a good chance of you know, getting back into the division, but wild card for sure. But this is a team that you know, keep plugging along too as well. It's hard to play at Wrigley Field. Maybe knows this is too all too well. You know, the wind's blowing one way, you got to try and hit a ground ball, and that wasn't a ground ball hitter. So that's the biggest issue for a lot of the guys. But yes, I think the Couppies will be just fine.

00:13:42
Speaker 1: Quick cam quick note here before you jump in. Uh, Mike g one of our favorites in the chat who did not like that they didn't land a big name starter, did point out something that I read about when Soroka was traded there the last few starts that he had a month or so period, his velocity was down a few miles an hour, right, and then he gets me, yeah, that might have been a precursor, that might have been why he had the MRI too. And then immediately comes over here and I mean the quote from him was want to go put a little extra on the fastball, and then it grabbed me a little bit and it didn't go away.

00:14:19
Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, I'm with you because I think about a guy who's been traded quite often. I don't know the protocol for pictures, but position players we usually don't go through, you know, MRIs or you know, the physicals done like once the season's happened and you made it this far. Teams when they trade for you, they've done their due dilingens and they believe, hey, he's pretty healthy. So for me, the red flag is that you know, we got an MRI before we got traded. Like that for me, when you talk about the Cubs would either signal, hey, go ahead and do that deal, but also maybe go get it an insurance piece just in case, because to me, I know, I haven't heard that much. I don't phrase Mike and touch on it, but usually when you get traded, I'm not used to hearing guys going to get X rays and being checked though over Usually by the time the team that called him made that, do you know it's pending some physicals. But I never actually went through an actual physical in the trade, so I don't know how it works with pitchers and arms, but absolutely for me, if I would have been in that front office, I would have one maybe been thinking, hey, maybe we go try to get somebody else, if that's Joe Ryan or maybe somebody not on that tier. A little insurance will help because when I look at this, you know, this pitching roster right now, I do worry about October. Right Uh, you know, I Monaga is who he is. Matthew Boyd has been great, but after that question mark, question mark, question mark, man, Just to be honest, especially talk about youth pitching in October.

00:15:38
Speaker 1: Yeah, Merril Kelly was the one for me. If you didn't want to go with the long term guy, that was the one having a good year, great guy, he's nationally tested.

00:15:48
Speaker 3: Good dude.

00:15:49
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean they they tried, they tried for him. They said they just didn't match up. But I'm like, I would have I would have made it match up. I want to figured that one out.

00:15:56
Speaker 5: Absolutely. Yeah, James as him, well, he would have did. AJ Probaly would have help him figure it out.

00:16:04
Speaker 1: AJ would have been like, oh, he's already on the team. I traded for him yesterday. It's just a different mentality. So hopefully Soroka is okay, but that's certainly not good news. You know, when he just joined the team there and he goes down with the injury. Remember last year the talk was about Jack Flaherty and the Yanks turned him down and then he ended up pitching the rest of the season. So I'm okay with taking the risk, but just make sure that you've got someone else there just in case. Plus for me either way, Soroka wasn't starting a playoff game for me. If anything, I was potentially putting him into the bullpen down the stretch. But we'll see what happens with the cuppies.

00:16:37
Speaker 3: I love this.

00:16:37
Speaker 1: I want both of you guys to chime in real quick. Let Tommy Fam loose. So Mike Petriello tweeted about him about a day ago, said he's been a dude for six weeks, like huge numbers. He posted the slash line, and he didn't get the deal right, he didn't get traded, So he said, there's still a very funny version of the future. This is Petriello where Fam mashes for August, demands Pittsburgh lease him because he's thirty seven and isn't a long term piece there, and then becomes a hugely desired free agent who ends up hitting homers in the postseason. I know what I'm rooting for That's what he said. So remember you can't trade for anyone like him, but if he gets cut, he can get picked up.

00:17:15
Speaker 4: People jump on him. He's a smart man. As you've gotten older, he's gonna.

00:17:20
Speaker 3: Take your money and then get moved to the contender, no doubt.

00:17:23
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:17:23
Speaker 5: And if I'm not mistaken, you know, even for me in twenty seventeen, I was with the Angels and I remember spraining my MCL trying to steal a base and talking to it and it was right at the trade deadline. I ended up not getting traded, and I remember coming back slow after that injury. And I want to say it was waivers. The Astros picked me up on waivers. So everybody will go through waivers after the trade process as well, right, and this matter matter.

00:17:53
Speaker 3: Is different, Yeah, but so it's different. It was a little different waivers.

00:18:00
Speaker 1: You're right, they still had the waiver trade period, right because they got Berlander.

00:18:04
Speaker 3: That Yeah, So what happens is, yes, they can.

00:18:06
Speaker 1: Put you on waivers, they don't, but you don't leave right teams claim you. And then if a team claims you, you can come up with a trade with them, and if you don't, you grab the player pack nowadays, and that works. You just can't trade anything. You just have to take on the contract, which for fam won't.

00:18:20
Speaker 5: Yeah, so right exactly, so there's still a possibility of Tommy fans and Inzubelic content.

00:18:26
Speaker 1: Hey, the Red Sox hit a little attendance mark yesterday at Fenway and they're playing the Royals. It's not like they were playing the Yanks. Thirty seven five eighty five, largest announced crowd since twenty nineteen. That was the announcement. Amazing. You start winning a little little ballgame here and there, going a little run.

00:18:46
Speaker 2: People talking in the streets. Rebulous's going, who's going to the game?

00:18:49
Speaker 3: That's right, and I will give them credit.

00:18:51
Speaker 1: And the off season they made some nice pickups led by Garrett Crochet. The criticism is warranted for me at the trade deadline, which we can get into later, because if you really believe in your team, you're gonna invest in something for October. But at least cam the fans are shown back up because attendance was dipping pretty good the last couple of years.

00:19:09
Speaker 3: There.

00:19:10
Speaker 5: Well, you know, I'll say this, and I don't think I don't think that, and TIA's laughing. Before I said, and we talk about some fan bases that are gonna always be behind their team, but also fan fairweather at the same time, Let's be honest. We talking about Boston Red Sox fans, We're talking about New York fans. It's a part of it. It's a part of the process. But the one thing that I'm encouraging to see right when we talk about the moves not made, this is a team that I looked at last year when I watched how they played, I went, man, they got some really fun young pieces. They're really athletic. They can really tilt the field, as we used to say when you talk about the athleticism that they have. And then they seem to regress a little bit this past year offensively, right. We know they brought in Garrett Crochet and we were hoping that they did more from a pitching standpoint, but I was a little surprised at the regression that I saw throughout the lineup. But I'm gonna tell you right now, as we talk about moves, I'm a Alex Bregmant Trevor's story. Those are the reasons why the rest are doing what you're doing.

00:20:05
Speaker 1: We're gonna talk Mookie Betts in a moment, but some other Dodgers news. Max Monts he's back already off the il. Tommy Edmund onto the i L he reaggravated his right ankle injury. Ald Gonzalez with this report. Dave Roberts didn't have a timetable, but said the team will make sure Edmund has enough time so he does not have another setback.

00:20:25
Speaker 2: Max Montsey, I mean, he's that glue guy.

00:20:28
Speaker 4: I mean, listen, whenever he's around you, he'll have his struggles here and there. He'll go through stretchers where you like, where'd he go? But when he's hot, he's been with the Dodgers for a while. This is the guy that you want to see in the clubhouse and you want to see him around whether he's doing good or bad. I mean, this is a guy that can actually help a Mookie bet and hey, dog, you know who you are, Like, go play the game, stop worrying about things.

00:20:49
Speaker 2: So you need a guy like that for a playoff push.

00:20:52
Speaker 1: For sure, Cam he has quality, AB's he takes pitches. The other thing I've noticed, and obviously this is more eye test. I'm so there's I mean for everything, but I feel like he has big moments when the team doesn't right, like when the team's a little like slow, or they're having a a you know, an off day. It's like one dude walks and then Monty hits to Homer and you're like, oh, months, he's here. Like they're they're timely moments for him.

00:21:15
Speaker 5: I was gonna say, it's not only the moments, it's the timing in which those moments come and when it's almost like he re energizes that team. And listen, you know, I keep it as simple as this, He's baby Shober, right, the three outcomes. I think that's pretty fair to say. Not quite you know the power guy that Sharby is. But I think he's that guy where, like you said, when you need them most, he always seems to be right there in the mix and he always seems to come up. So this is a guy they desperately need that energy. His character back in that clubhouse, back in the lineup.

00:21:44
Speaker 3: I like that comp that's good.

00:21:45
Speaker 5: Yeah, baby Schwarves.

00:21:48
Speaker 3: Yeah scrats.

00:21:50

00:22:46
Speaker 3: Go for it. Hey, Mookie Betts is a superstar.

00:22:54
Speaker 1: He's on a Hall of Fame pathway, but this is an extremely down season for him, and he's played most of the year. He's got an eighty five OPS plus a three h two on base percentage three fifty five slug the batting average is at two thirty one wins above replacement. Baseball Reference wise, he's won eight, so a sliver under two. Obviously, he's playing shortstop full time for this team. Let's throw the quote up there and then we'll get our former big league hitters to chime in, because Mookie's really good on interviews, of course, and he'll lay it out. So this is from Bill Plunkett in an interview, and he said Mookie quote, I've done everything possible. I'm hitting all day, I'm hitting after games in the cage early. I really don't know what else to do. I don't have any answers. I mean, the move to leadoff was obviously not the solution. It's just kind of the same results. Again, I'm out of answers. I've done everything I can possibly do. It's up to God at this point. I mean, both of you guys obviously have been there before him. What should he do? I mean, he's not hurt, right, not hurt enough that he's not playing ball. Everybody's feeling it because it's August. What should he do to try and climb out of this and be the Mookie Bets that we're used to seeing.

00:24:05
Speaker 5: So I got a couple of things for you. Okay, One, Mookie Bets is gonna be fine and talking and can expound on this. There are guys that when they get their money and they go through the stretch that Mookie Bets had, they find a way to my toe, my lower back, my neck, my neck and my back just gonna find a way to miss some time. Mookie Bets is gonna get rewarded when the Dodgers need him most because he's just continued to grind this thing out, continue to try to push through it, continue to try to figure this thing out. But I'm gonna tell you right now, if you want to fix Mookie Bets, and I said this last year, and you can go back to last year, not the best Mookie Bets offensive season. I love Dave Roberts. I've said it before, he was one of my mentors. Put the man back in right field. I get it. He's one of the best athletes that we've seen. Pound for pound. You talk about the size of the stature, not the biggest guy. He can do anything on the baseball field, and I get it. Put the man in the right field where he can be relaxed, he can be chilled, he can go get the ball and like that's where he's comfortable. I'll remember, you know, moving for the first time of my career in like eight or nine years, getting traded at Anaheim, going to the play left field, and they was like, hey, Cam, we're gonna trade to play left. Help Mike try it out and left. It's a big left field. Oh, no problem, no worries. I got it. I'm an athlete. I can do it. It was hard for me to transition the footwork the way my brain had to function.

00:25:19
Speaker 2: It was different.

00:25:20
Speaker 5: It kind of affected me, I feel offensively, and I think right now we've seen it the last two years, Mookie Betts is a special type of talent. Yes, he can play short, but I think his best position is out there in the grass, the last line of defense, making plays like he does best, and it takes something off of you mentally at the dish. So for me, put him back and right, let somebody else play short, and let him relax and just worry about hitting. That's my opinion.

00:25:47
Speaker 2: I think everything you said was spot on. I think it was perfectly said.

00:25:51
Speaker 4: I remember when I first came up, excuse me, I played five or six different positions and Eric Davis came to me and said, listen, the great mister Red, love him, love him to death, still talk to him. He said, phrase, we need to find a spot for you, brother. There's too much going left field, going to third base, playing first, playing right field, even a little shortstop. I said, no, man, I want to do what I want, you know, for the team. Man, I don't care. And I was trying to get to the big leagues and an adventure.

00:26:16
Speaker 2: I got there. The first year.

00:26:17
Speaker 4: I still did everything, but once I settled down to that position, I didn't need five gloves. You know, I worried about one position. I worried about third base, and that was it. That was my spot. And I'm not saying Mookie can't do it, but again, I think right field is where he needs to be. You get out there in the outfield, Kim. You understand you can talk to yourself. You know, you can talk to whatever it is. You have your space and your moment. Now, with that being said, I was listening to some of the quotes he said. There's a lot to unfold here, what he's going through. There is a lot circulating in his mind. It's something we've never heard him talk about it sounds like like me at the end of my career. If you want me personally, at the end of my career, I'm trying to figure everything out instead of just going up there and hitting. If I'm him, throw everything out the window, come to the field, get your early hitting in without thinking about anything else. Just get loose, get the blood flow, stretch, and just go. Who cares who's on the mound. You know, they throw fastball. The ball's gonna move one way or another. It's baseball at the end of the day. What did we do as kids. We grabbed the bat and we said, come on, bring it, let's go. And I think that's the mentality needs to have, not worrying about oh my god, you know, my swing speed's not there. Yeah, as you get older, it's not always going to be there.

00:27:30
Speaker 2: I get it.

00:27:31
Speaker 4: You lost a bunch of pounds, you know, during when you got sick and stuff. You'll gain that back after the offseason. You'll be just fine.

00:27:38
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:27:38
Speaker 5: And I want to add to that. Todd makes a great point. So you add switching positions, and you talk about a guy who lost a ton of weight who can't afford to lose that type of weight. Even though you gain it back fast, doesn't mean you feel as strong, doesn't mean you feel the same. Right, He went through something serious in spring training, so I think for me even more reason to just you know, put him out there. Right. He knows, right, you know how much extra work he has to do every day, and he has been doing every day since last year, trying to learn short, trying to learn short, like, there's so much extra work and extra ground balls and just mental stress that goes into also knowing that I lost a ton of weight in the beginning of the season, like not feeling like myself. I think the best way to clear his head let him go play a week or two out there in outfield and just go hit, like Ty said, And then also too, maybe backing off of the extra stuff. Right, it's a long season. We know Mookie cares so much, we know he's one of the professionals in our game. But I think there's a such thing as maybe less is more right now, So like Ty said, coming in, showing up, eating, doing your treatment, your you know whatever, your massage, like backing off the mental part of it, right, and not being so stressed and just letting the kind of game unfold, I think will help mooki Bets a time.

00:28:49
Speaker 1: I'm with you on this one. Also, because he's a few months from turning thirty three years.

00:28:54
Speaker 3: Old, things change. It's a little tougher about it.

00:28:56
Speaker 1: Back right, it looks like the game comes so easy to him in right field, and he's done a really nice job of picking up shortstop in his early thirties.

00:29:05
Speaker 3: But that's a tough position.

00:29:07
Speaker 2: Now.

00:29:07
Speaker 1: The question, of course you're gonna get is who's playing shortstop for the Dodgers. My thing is, I'm not necessarily saying Mookie has to play there for the rest of the season, But if you want to try and switch something else up, I'm with Cam, like, put him out there for a couple weeks and see what happens. I know, Edmund's on the shelf, So who's playing shortstop? Miguel Rojas will play some short stop? You'll you'll eat the position on offense a little bit. I know, you know, migiy Roe is not the best offensive player anymore. But if it's going to make Mookie Bets an offensive player, and if it's gonna help him find himself a little bit, screw it. They've tried other things. It's not working right, and he's trying, like he mentioned in Ken Rosenthalt, a great story a couple of months ago, to figure out the bat speed situation because it's towards the bottom of the league. Like, let's let's just do the right field back to the good old days for a couple of weeks and see if that helps him find his back. Because Cam now is this team gonna win the division? Not necessarily, but they're gonna make the playoffs, and if they're gonna win the World Series, they need above average bat Mookie bats.

00:30:10
Speaker 3: Do they need him to be the one.

00:30:12
Speaker 1: Fifty ops plus guy where he's a super super starting. Oh, not necessarily, but he's got to be better than this version in my mind for them to win a World Series because the National League is stacked.

00:30:21
Speaker 5: One hundred percent. And I've said this I think the last time I was on the show. At the end of the day, I truly don't believe the Dodgers care about winning the division. I think the Dodgers have tasted what it is to be champions, and that's what they look for, is to be champions once again. And that adds your point about Mickey rohas I'll tell you what he won't do. He won't cost you any runs at short. So while you might, you know, lose something offensively, he's gonna save you runs. You better believe that, right. So for me, you and then you put Mookie back and right, so all of a sudden, it's not like you're putting the worse defense out there. You actually get stronger on defense with Mickey at short. So for me, there's some some give giveaways and takeaways. But I think at the end of the big scheme of things, I think personally it's worth the shot.

00:31:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, some Alex free Freeland's name comes up, the youngster, Yeah, I mean play a little short.

00:31:18
Speaker 5: Yeah exactly. I just I like, yeah, for real.

00:31:23
Speaker 4: Man, chance, what else do you have to lose? You know, honestly, you got a couple of guys on the shelf. Bring him up. See what the See what happens? Exactly, See what happens? I mean, what's the worst that can happen? He goes out and bangs, and then you have a tough decision to make.

00:31:38
Speaker 1: It worked for them last year they won the World Series. Who was in right field?

00:31:43
Speaker 5: Exactly exactly. I just I'm just saying well, I mean, I don't I don't get I listen. I've never I was never a fan. Going back to last year, this whole move Mookie to Short, I just you know, and and again last year, I think his offense suffered as well, Like you know, he's special and he's going to have his I just think his offense has suffered since they try to make that move. I really do. And on top of everything that he's went through prior at the beginning of the season, Like, I mean, it's a lot, man, this you know, the season is strenuous, it's a lot on you mentally, and to go through all that from you know, a health standpoint. Mookie's not a big dude to begin with, right, So all the extra work like that's taxing, that's draining, whether you're doing the in LA and it's nice and cool, or you're doing on the road and it's human as hell and you're using energy then and then you're doing it and then you're hitting extra like he's probably tired as hell right now, and he weighs a buck fifty like you got to you know what I mean, It's it's a lot going on right now for MOOKI and I just think you got to get back to trying to put him in situations where he can be successful. And I think that starts with hell even if it's some DH days and right field, Like get him off his feet and let him just worry about, you know, going to catch the ball and throwing it in and hitt and the cut off. It's a lot more simple out there.

00:32:52
Speaker 3: It's a good call. I like it.

00:32:53
Speaker 1: Will they do it, I don't know, But if they're saying they've tried many other things, they have not tried this yet. You've got time in the season to give it a shot. If this team's so focused on making sure everything's as perfect as possible for October, you got to get that bat in gear. They talk about this several times a week on a show called Dodger's Territories. To make sure you check it out, give them some love to Clint and Alana part of the FT network. Go give their channel a little sub and check out their pot if you're on the go wherever you get your podcasts.

00:33:23
Speaker 6: Yeah, that's what he said.

00:33:24
Speaker 3: That's what he said.

00:33:27
Speaker 5: That's what he said, that's what he said.

00:33:31
Speaker 3: This is fresh.

00:33:32
Speaker 1: This just came in during the show Jose Alvarado posting on his social media page a little note about his ped suspension. May eighteenth was a very difficult day for me. That day MLB announced the positive result of a doping test conducted in March of twenty five. I'm fully aware that using prohibited substances is wrong, and I would never intend to do so because I've always had great respect for the game, my organization, my teammates, and the fans, all of whom I want to offer my sincere apologies. I made a mistake, and therefore I have faced the consequences set forth by MLB. Going forward, my focus is on working hard to help the team win once again. I offer my deepest apologies to the Phillies organization, teammates, family, country, City of Philly. Fans have always supported me, especially the children and young people. There's always a lesson to be learned in every mistake, and he said, I thank God forgive me the strength overcome the situation. I'm glad to be back and ready to support the team.

00:34:21
Speaker 7: Hey, we often get these notes full of I did this, I got that, I did this, it was that it oops, I did this was just I did it.

00:34:31
Speaker 3: Sorry, and now I'm.

00:34:33
Speaker 2: Back and listen. At the end of the day, this is what you want to hear.

00:34:36
Speaker 4: You're still it's still frowned upon, You're still not happy that the person did do it. But when you come out and openly say I did it, people tend to move on a little quicker. In my opinion, you know, it'll never be forgotten.

00:34:50
Speaker 2: Don't get me wrong.

00:34:51
Speaker 4: He made a really bad mistake and you know a lot of people are doing it and for him, you know, you give him credit, you know, as much credit as you want to give a person for that. But again, he's trying to move on from the situation, and it's just be realistic and be be you know, a true human being.

00:35:08
Speaker 2: That's all. Cam.

00:35:09
Speaker 3: What'd you take from this? What I'm trying to say is, I mean a lot of times players will come out and they'll.

00:35:14
Speaker 1: Be like, oh side and yeah, but wait, okay, right, Like so if you think it's a weak apology, like what else is he supposed to say?

00:35:22
Speaker 3: Trust me, I'm I'm all okay.

00:35:24
Speaker 1: You know what sham is when someone comes out and they're like, oh, I was taking this and then that it's.

00:35:29
Speaker 3: Like, yo, you're in the big leagues, right, right, I.

00:35:33
Speaker 1: Got this that popped up, and and it's like for most of the cases. I know there's a few that are disputed and that's a separate case, right, But for most of them, cam like, you got caught, You're coming back.

00:35:45
Speaker 3: You say, oops, got caught, busted. Sorry, that's exactly what he put here.

00:35:51
Speaker 5: Well, okay, I'm gonna need you to bring it back up because I love this show Reacher. Right, you guys have heard a Reacher, great show, big slow dude going around people. He always says, the details matter. If I'm looking at that, right, I didn't like, I'm fully aware that using prohibit substance is wrong and I would never intend to do I would never intend to do so because I have always had hold on like this min That's where I get confused. I would never intend to do so. Did you know you did it? Or did you not know you did it? So that's where I think it is a little I want to say weak, because it's like he took accountability, but Conda in there it sounds like he's like, I didn't know, I would never knowingly take I'm a little confused with the apology. So I get the people who might say it's a little weak. I won't use the word weak, but it just it's a little confusing for me because I want to know, are you taking accountability or are you for for taking something that you didn't know you took, or you taking accountability for taking something that you knew was banned. That's my issue with it.

00:36:51
Speaker 3: That's fair, that's fair.

00:36:52
Speaker 1: I'll take the part that part and and you know what that part is. That's a little that's a little lawyer help, because of course it's all legal substance, so you don't want a criminal case and say, yeah, I took it.

00:37:09
Speaker 3: I bought it from the guy next door.

00:37:11
Speaker 1: His name is whatever. If the Feds want to go check him out. So there's a legal component. So so you're right, it's not a ten out of ten apology note.

00:37:19
Speaker 3: But that's what I'm saying, come up with some some He certainly wasn't worse. You're right, though, I'm not giving a ten out for too long.

00:37:28
Speaker 4: Where I'm just you're kind of over it at the end of the day, if you want the truth, yeah said for baseball, it's said that he did it. I think it's frowned upon. I I don't like it at all. Don't get me wrong, but you see it happened too many times, like whatever, you know, it is what it is.

00:37:45
Speaker 5: Yeah, you're right, and what you're young with you. I give him credit because, like you said, apologies a little bit late, but he but he may not.

00:37:54
Speaker 3: Like, hey, I'm coming back so.

00:37:56
Speaker 5: And he and he kind of admitted to it. So I'm like, you know, the details matter though, so make sure we reading that statement. I'm like, did you know or did you not? No, but you're sorry regardless, Okay, he said sorry, So I guess I'll.

00:38:10
Speaker 2: Just take it for what it's worth whatever.

00:38:13
Speaker 1: AJM on my phone right now in Arena Club and I'm looking at the Emerald slab packs and I see in the grail a Bobby Wit Junior twenty twenty Bowman Chrome.

00:38:21
Speaker 3: Prospect Auto Gold Refractor card.

00:38:25
Speaker 5: Give me that, give me your phone. I'm gonna I'm gonna get you.

00:38:27
Speaker 3: Well, you gotta buy it to me. I don't have it. You know you have to get a slab pack. No, I don't have that, And give me.

00:38:32
Speaker 5: Your slab pack.

00:38:33
Speaker 2: That card's worth you buy you slab.

00:38:35
Speaker 6: Pack, Scott, so I can get the Bobby Witt Junior Gold Refractor twenty twenty Bowman Chrome AUTI because that.

00:38:41
Speaker 3: Sounds awesome and it's worth a lot.

00:38:43
Speaker 5: It's worth a lot.

00:38:43
Speaker 6: He's a stud, he's not going down. Get a grill.

00:38:46
Speaker 5: Get a grill. I want a grill, Scott, give me the holy grill. You do it.

00:38:50
Speaker 1: To do that, you must get yourself a slab pack in Arena Club or if you want to get it for a friend, you can do that too. And right now you can get twenty percent off your first slab pack or your first card.

00:39:01
Speaker 3: Purchase for going on there.

00:39:02
Speaker 1: And just like, hey, I want a specific card, I find it there on a grab it for my showroom Arena Club dot com, slash foul and use the code.

00:39:10
Speaker 3: Fo U L Well. I think it becomes a like a legal thing because yeah, I'm taking something illegal.

00:39:17
Speaker 4: I'm fully aware they using Barna substance is wrong, and I would never intend to do so because I've already had grace str for the game. Then the next sense, I made a mistake and therefore I face the con So yeah, I get you, understandable, understandable, Yeah good, all good, all good.

00:39:35
Speaker 2: You said your piece. Don't do any more, move on and try and be better. There you go.

00:39:39
Speaker 1: Maybe my expectations in my bar is so low now because the ones that come out, that come up with the elaborate story is just tough. Again, there's a couple to look up, right, Like look up Chris Colobello's story. There's a whole case to that. But with most of the other ones, it's tough.

00:39:58
Speaker 5: Hey, listen, I'll tell you my I had. I had one. I don't know if you have time for real quick. I had one in San Diego. I've been prescribed. I had a TVUI for adderall since twenty eleven. Well, one year Major League Baseball was trying to win guys off of adderall and they put me on something else that had me feeling like lethargic, I mean like a zombie. So I went to our team doctor that I have to go through to get a meeting with the doctor who writes my prescription. He made the he made me an appointment with the doctor. We went to him. Hey, this medicine, it's making me lethargy. Anyway I can get back on my adderall. Hey, sure, here you go. Here's a prescription. Went got my prescription. Feel the drug tests come in. I see him if you have a a t WI or something, and you have a drug test you're supposed to have in your system when you take the test. So what do I do, Oh, drug test is here, Let me take my medicine. So when I take my test, it'll show up, and it'll show up that I took my medicine, because they'll take it from you if you're not taking it. So I did everything that I thought was right. Come to find out, I get a letter that says, hey, I, you violated the band's substance agreement. And I went through a whole process going hey, the team doctor you know, gave me the consultation to the other guy, he wrote the prescription. How am I in trouble? And then it was one of those things where like, hey, you can fight it, but if you fight it, you're gonna get eighty games if you lose, or you can just take this. I think they gave me like fifteen to twenty. It was something crazy, and I just had to wear it because I didn't want to take a chance on getting eighty just because they might do it. So there are situations where it makes sense, but this just this is a little different.

00:41:33
Speaker 3: That's crazy. That is crazy.

00:41:36
Speaker 5: So when I look back at it, I should have When I look back at it, I should have final grievance against either the team or doctor when I look back at it, But I just I was like, yo, last now and again too, how embarrassing were you have to go through scrutiny and people call on your cheater and it's like, dude, I actually went through every step that I was supposed to and nobody can help me out. Mob didn't want to help me out. It was like, well, we've already put it out there, so you can either peel it or because we believe you they actually like or because we believe you, you can just do the twenty games or fifteen or whatever it was. And I was like, well, hell, all right, and I'll just do the fifteen. But y'all, but y'all screwed up. But I should have filed a griements. I should have, you know, went to my my representation and did a little more. But with that said, that to me, a story that makes sense, that Chris Calabello, it makes sense. Certain things make sense, but those details like a little great for me.

00:42:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, and the button it up for some reason.

00:42:31
Speaker 4: The drug tester came in the day after, you know, a couple of days after your right, right, like.

00:42:39
Speaker 5: Like crazy, Yeah, So it was again it was looking back on it, it was like, Yo, the whole situation was a little shady, man.

00:42:46
Speaker 2: It was.

00:42:48
Speaker 1: How often does it, dude get tested per year?

00:42:53
Speaker 4: Is, well, it just depends. One year, I didn't get tested at all. Another year, I've had it four times. I mean yours I want five years, six years without getting it in the off season, and then I had it twice in the off season.

00:43:04
Speaker 3: So it's random, I guess.

00:43:06
Speaker 4: So ish random is Ryan Braun had to get it all day every day.

00:43:13
Speaker 3: So separate, separate story there, but still.

00:43:16
Speaker 4: It's supposed to still be random. But the guy, you know, I'm not trying to take sides.

00:43:19
Speaker 1: I'm just saying, yeah, well and once you run into well, once you get in trouble though, then it does amp up, right, I guess.

00:43:27
Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, yep, yep, yeah, yeah.

00:43:30
Speaker 5: I think I had to do the same thing. I think I had to do like to in the off season, which is fine. But again I was like, but it finally was like, hey, like am I approach and I had to get so what it was they told me I had to get reapproved. So even though I went through the process the right way, I was supposed to somehow go get reapproved for that my old prescription through MLB. So once I got once they approved me for one, you gotta go get reapproved every time. It was something I get. I didn't know, but again, listen to my explanation and then read the one.

00:44:00
Speaker 2: Just read it.

00:44:00
Speaker 5: It's like, let's just there's no there's no there's no gray area in my stories.

00:44:05
Speaker 3: It's like, this is what happens exactly get.

00:44:07
Speaker 5: I guess he took accountability in his own way and like prey saying, we move on and it is what it is. We wiped our hands with it.

00:44:14
Speaker 1: We got two minutes, so I got one follow up for you, cam. So then what was the aftermath? Like did media ask you questions? And were you only allowed to say certain things while you were playing? You know now it doesn't matter you played. It's a while ago.

00:44:27
Speaker 6: Yeah.

00:44:27
Speaker 5: No, I'm pretty sure I said exactly what I just said. Now, I'm pretty sure that I told him the whole story. Like, listen, this is what happened, like spring training, they switched my medicine. It had me feeling crazy and I wanted to go get it changed. The doctor made an appointment to the other doctor. The other doctor was like, Hey, yeah, they trying to get us get you guys to stop taking it. So here's your old prescription back. Hey, thanks doc, appreciate you go get it. It's like but and then that was it. It was just like and I think the fact that again, if you look at my I think I did twenty games. I think it says I think it's he says it all like, you know, these guys are getting eighty games. If you did it, you get eighty. Like they're like, damn, Cam, this makes sense, so we'll just give you twenty Like damn, you know what I mean. Like, So that's what sucked about it to me. But it's one of those things I was. I was just one of those guys where, you know, the people that I know knew I was in the right and knew I was in the right. The organization was behind me. They felt bad at the time. So again, maybe they did. Frase had that look in his face. Maybe they felt bad. I don't know, but it was it was a weird situation, man. It was a weird situation that cost me some money at the end of the day. And again I wish I would handle it differently as far as maybe find agreements, but I wasn't thinking about it. I was just happy that I didn't get the eighty games, and they kind of believe me, you know what I mean. I was more happy about that, and they like, damn, this makes sense, this could have happened. So I just kind of took it for what it was worth it, like like Frasea had just wipe my hands and try to get back on the field.

00:45:51
Speaker 3: Yeah.

00:45:52
Speaker 1: Well, as far as I know, like the steroidy type stuff is the ped eighty, right, and then you've.

00:45:57
Speaker 3: Got like the the where Chris Davis had it too, right, Yeah.

00:46:03
Speaker 5: I guess what. Also, I had a therapeutic conxemption. He didn't have one. He was just taking out to take it. I can't do that, right, A different different scenario.

00:46:16
Speaker 4: I didn't play in it, but Greenies were everywhere. They call him Greenies. Don't tell you. You just take them whenever you need it to and everybody's like, oh, yeah, whatever, that's what baseball players do.

00:46:26
Speaker 2: And then you get.

00:46:27
Speaker 5: Get the coffee on the list.

00:46:29
Speaker 2: When you had a t UI for the whole thing. It's just it's just it's ridiculous.

00:46:34
Speaker 3: That's crazy though, yeah, because I feel like you got.

00:46:40
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:46:41
Speaker 3: But anyway, big difference.

00:46:43
Speaker 1: You get this note coming out and it's like, hey, I did it, but I also don't want to get in trouble, So here's like what was typed up for me?

00:46:52
Speaker 3: And I'll be back, But also you want but have fun with Duran.

00:47:07
Speaker 1: Let's go, let's slap all right. First off, we do have a postgame show later. Uh, Dodger's Territory. Should make sure you check it out. We'll shout out to those guys, did you And then let's get to Liam Hendricks real quick while you have two minutes. It sounded like the Red Sox were saying he was done, and then he spoke and basically said that the Alex Cora update was a slip of the tongue. He said, it's way too early to say I won't pitch this year. If everything goes well, I will definitely pitch this year as long as we keep moving in that direction.

00:47:37
Speaker 3: He said.

00:47:37
Speaker 1: He spoke to Core about it and it was just a slip of the tongue. Cora apologized, and they're moving on. They said it was a misdiagnosis and he was frustrated with the Red Sox and how it was communicated with.

00:47:49
Speaker 2: Him understandably, I mean, the guy, the guy's been through a lot. Yeah. Yeah, I would be frustrated too.

00:47:55
Speaker 4: I love the apology from your you know, from Kor and I love that they say they're moving on. Let's not harp on it. He's old enough, he understands who he is and who he's.

00:48:04
Speaker 2: Going to be. He wants to get back out there.

00:48:06
Speaker 4: He's not just gonna, you know, well, I gotta do this, and if there's an opportunity for him to get out there and help a team win, he's gonna want to do it.

00:48:14
Speaker 2: Yeah.

00:48:14
Speaker 1: And it's been a pretty good bullpen this year. They didn't really, I mean, besides Steven Mattz had many reinforcements to it if they make the playoffs. Also, cam Liam Hendrix is not going to hold back. He has always been outspoken. He'll tell you what's on his mind. We love it.

00:48:32
Speaker 5: Look, we always talk about what we need more in the game. And he's a guy who he's going to create that fun SoundBite that fans want to hear, and he's gonna create a little buzz, and we need more honest, transparent guys like Lim. And we know also, like you said, he's one of the most fierce competitors in our game, so we know he's not just trying to sit around a collect the check. He's trying to go out there and earn it and help somebody win ball games.

00:48:53
Speaker 1: And here's my thing. If you want to piss any player off, you say that he's done for the year. When he doesn't, I don't care who you are. They're going to talk and be like, I'm not done for the year. I didn't say I was done for this.

00:49:05
Speaker 5: I'll show you.

00:49:06
Speaker 3: You're the quietest guy on the team.

00:49:08
Speaker 2: Maybe maybe there's a method of chorus man. Maybe he wanted to.

00:49:12
Speaker 3: He's probably done.

00:49:14
Speaker 2: You're not telling me so.

00:49:18
Speaker 5: Well. This is that time when hey, one guy that build off of it, his Lim Hendrix right talking about pissing the right man. He's like, you know what, we didn't make any moves. Let me piss this guy off and get everybody fired.

00:49:28
Speaker 2: Let's go how you doing.

00:49:29
Speaker 1: This is the time of year when pitching injuries pop up and then the question comes where it's like, is he going to get back in time, right, will he be able to get himself back by the end of the season or will this guy pop up in October?

00:49:41
Speaker 3: Which is pretty rare, but.

00:49:42
Speaker 1: It does happen sometimes. So anyway, good show, ft fam, very good.

00:49:48
Speaker 2: Uh you?

00:49:49
Speaker 3: When do you have Little League?

00:49:51
Speaker 4: I I'm knowing broadcasting this week in Brestol, but it starts at thirteenth.

00:49:55
Speaker 1: Okay, so we're about a week away, about a week away.

00:49:58
Speaker 3: If your boys, man, they're.

00:50:01
Speaker 2: They're on the trip. There in the strip, there in the ship.

00:50:04
Speaker 3: Nice good game.

00:50:05
Speaker 5: I watched it.
