One after another, the appointed commanders were martyred while holding the banner of Islam. Finally, Khalid ibn al-Walid (RA) took command and used his military skill to safely withdraw the Muslim army. This episode highlights the bravery of the companions, the sacrifice of the martyrs, and the leadership that preserved the Muslim army.
