00:00:00 Speaker 1: You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox Sports Radio Our two. 00:00:05 Speaker 2: On this Monday. We have a new coaching vacancy. The Buffalo Bills have fired Sean McDermott. Bill's announcer Steve Tasker will join us coming up in about twenty minutes to talk about that and could his replacement actually be somebody who used to be on the staff in Buffalo. Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America, the official Trading card said, The Dan Patrick Show eight seven to seven three DP show operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your phone calls. Also, we say good morning to our radio affiliates around the country. Also Peacock carries this program our streaming partner. Yes, Sean McDermott fired after the loss in Denver, and Ian Rappaport of NFL Network said that it was a shocker when he reported this. Anybody shocked here that the Buffalo Bills fired. Sean McDermott, I'm not. You can say maybe surprised, but shocked. I'm not. You know, there's certain situations where you go something's up, and you know RG three joined us last week and I said, the Buffalo Bills if they don't win, and then he said, Sean McDermott will be fired. I don't think this is a surprising topic that just surfaced. I think it's been there. You've got to make the AFC title game, at least make the AFC title game. And I think the injuries and maybe the subpar seasons that some of these marquee quarterbacks had in the AFC probably heightened awareness for Sean McDermott. It's like, hey, window of opportunity nine years here, now's we got to get to the AFC title game. We got to You don't have Mahomes. Mahomes was always you know, the pothole. There, no burrows, there no Lamar. You gotta make it. Look at the remaining quarterbacks in the AFC. We have to we have to get by these guys. We're better than these guys. We're better than C. J. Stroud, better than Drake may Bo Niggs host them though, and then all of a sudden, you weren't Thank you, Tom, yes Mark, But. 00:02:19 Speaker 3: Even if the Bills won last night, it still would have been you guys got to beat the Patriots is a divisional opponent that you've dominated for the past few years. 00:02:28 Speaker 2: Now Gotshau, isn't they Yeah, I think the pressure was going to be on that. It felt like if it's not AFC title game or Super Bowl or bust. But you know, maybe Steve Tasker can help us understand the local part of this. And you know, for Buffalo Bills fans, it's just it's gonna hurt. The question is how is it going to hurt? You kind of know what the ending is going to be, You just don't know, like that final chapter, who's writing it, you know, but you know what the bottom line is going to be. It just feels like there's heartache, you know, with every page that you turn there and they have to blame themselves. And yes, Josh Allen did blame himself and rightfully so that was unlike uncharacteristic of Josh Allen. And after the game talked about the loss. 00:03:24 Speaker 4: That's extremely difficult. I feel like I yeah, I feel like I let my teammates down tonight. It's been a long season. I hate I ended and that's uh, that's gonna stick with me for a long time. 00:03:41 Speaker 2: What about Brian Dable, offensive coordinator with the Bills. Of course, he went to the Giants rumored to be maybe going to Philadelphia as the offensive coordinator. What if Buffalo brought Brian Dable in as their new head coach. There's some marquee jobs that are open. 00:04:01 Speaker 5: Now. 00:04:01 Speaker 2: Pittsburgh doesn't have a quarterback attached to it, although there are reports that the Steelers would welcome back Aaron Rodgers. You got Lamar Jackson, he needs a coach, and then you have Josh Allen needing a coach. Yes, Marvin, if you're. 00:04:15 Speaker 3: The Bills or the Bills fans, would you want a guy that just got fired from the New York Giants, Like, as far as the optics are concerned, like we're trying to get over the hump, you bring it Brian Dabel. 00:04:24 Speaker 2: Yeah, but he was really successful there, right, I know what the image would be like, we're taking the Giants leftover. So like a guy who got fired and he's gonna be the guy to lead us. Man, I'd get over that if I thought he was the right guy, knows the team, knows the city. And once again, you're gonna have to deal with the Patriots for a while. Now it's a young team for the most part, and you don't have to deal with the Jets. You don't have to deal with the Dolphins. You just have to deal with with the Patriots and bringing somebody in. You know, the familiarity I think is important and I but you know, this comes down to does Josh Allen want Brian Dable? That would be my gut feeling. Yeah, Pauling. 00:05:15 Speaker 6: The year before Brian Dable became the OC in Buffalo, their offense was ranked thirty two years later, the ranked number two in the league. 00:05:22 Speaker 2: Yeah, and look as Josh goes, they go. But boy, that was a bad performance, you know, and the one that stands out where he was so careless at the end of the first half. I got it. I just thought, the last thing you need is a silly turnover that leads to points. And when you know they capitalized and kicked that field goal, I thought, you know, that's gonna win you the game. We may look, we might look back on that play and go. They got a gift of three points there. But Denver was going to be a one point favorite. Now they're a five and a half point underdog against the New England Patriots eight seven, seven to three DP show Seaton, what is the poll question for hour two? 00:06:11 Speaker 7: Well, let me update you here again on the one that we have right now, the losing team from this weekend that has the most biggest issues issues right now, the Texans have fifty one percent of that vote. The Bears are at four percent. That's pretty accurate. The Bills are in second with twenty nine. That feels a little high to me. And I know a lot of people were talking about the catch not a catch? Was it an interception? Jakwan McMillan, And look, we've watched it over and over. I still don't understand what is a full catch. Here is the actual call of this play. 00:06:53 Speaker 2: So let's on the way. 00:06:54 Speaker 8: Alan in the pocket loads it up, deep ball down the field. The ball is it is something Jay Klaan McMillan, Oh my goodness, the bell sideline thought that brand mccooks had it. 00:07:09 Speaker 2: Jay Kwon took it away from him. Both players went airborne. And I watched it and I keep thinking, all right, you have both hands on the ball and you come down and knee hits the ground. But then McMillan pulls it away. But if you look at it, and there's different angles, and at first I thought, well, wait a minute, doesn't the tie go to the runner like the receiver should get the benefit of the doubt, but McMillan has his hands on the ball as well, and then this whole complete the process. And I mean I was, I was shocked that they called it. Now, if that's in Buffalo, do they call it? Can you overturn something like that? Well, there was no replay on that was there for them to look at. 00:07:58 Speaker 6: Yeah, Paulie McDermott calls it time out to slow down the situation. Yeah, it appears that they gave it a quick look or they were securing their decision and they moved on to the next play. That's what it looked like when you're watching at home on TV. 00:08:12 Speaker 2: Who thought it was an interception, Paulie, Marvin Todd, You didn't think it was an interception. 00:08:18 Speaker 9: In real time, I thought he caught it and then he pulled it out after I was I couldn't tell that a whistle was bun. 00:08:25 Speaker 5: No. 00:08:25 Speaker 2: In real time, I was very psyched. That's the game. 00:08:28 Speaker 9: I got really pissed off that they just allowed that to happen, and then he just pulled it out of his hands after it was down and then you see different angles. But it is a bad look for the officials that they didn't look under a hood or at least pretend to take some more time to look at it a little further. 00:08:40 Speaker 2: Here's Sean McDermott, the former Bill's head coach, on the interception. 00:08:46 Speaker 10: I called a time out to try and slow it down. It would just it would seem logical to me the head official would walk over and want to go and take a look at it, just to make sure that everybody from here who is in the stadium to there are on the same page. 00:09:01 Speaker 11: That's too big. 00:09:01 Speaker 10: Of a play, in a play that decided the game potentially as well to not even slow it down. And I've had a chance to look at It's hard for me to understand why it was ruled the way it was ruled. And if it is ruled that way, then why wasn't it slowed down just to make sure that we have this right. That would have made a lot of sense to me. So I'll just leave it at that. 00:09:24 Speaker 7: Yeah, don't they have a guy in New York doing. 00:09:26 Speaker 2: That supposed to? Yeah, but I don't know if you could. Was it irrefutable that you would have been able to overturn it? Like the call in the fields in interception. I don't know if there was enough to overturn it. 00:09:40 Speaker 6: Yeah, PAULI, it seems like from different reports I've read that the skycam or whatever, the New York Office, when they don't think something is worthy of a replay it to delve into it. They say, press on right, call let's go, and they try to keep the game moving. And a lot of people think that's what happened here. 00:09:58 Speaker 2: But it wasn't reviewable by McDermott. Correct. 00:10:03 Speaker 6: He can't throw a flag for a replay, yes, but anytime there's a turnover, I think it's automatic. 00:10:08 Speaker 2: Yes, Ton. 00:10:09 Speaker 9: He did the next best thing by calling a timeout to try to stow things, because obviously once you run another play, it's over. And you could see him talking to your pizils try to plead his case, and he thought by maybe calling timeouts, somehow, some way, some'one'll give it another look and change the call. 00:10:21 Speaker 2: All right, your phone calls best and worst of the weekend. What you saw that you liked you didn't like? Brian in Phoenix, Hey Brian, what's on your mind today? 00:10:30 Speaker 5: Hey Dan? Five eleven forty eight, And I'm a lifelong Bear fan and lifelong Dan Patrick fans in. Yeah, I'm really happy with the Bears and how they played and what Caleb Williams is doing. A lot to look forward to in the years to come, and I just want to say, I'm three years sober. Is the best gift that I could have had. So thank you for being here and thank you for everything now. 00:11:09 Speaker 2: Thank you, Brian, Congratulations, good luck with them. Luke and Colorado. Hey Luke, what's on your mind? 00:11:16 Speaker 5: Hey Dan? 00:11:17 Speaker 12: How you doing six to one and a half to sixty? So morning fellas So this was walking out of him pile fields a mile high after grounded Superman Santam the Bells home. 00:11:31 Speaker 13: But then worst is directly after that, think of what I was the worst joke I've ever heard on the right home that bot Nicks broke his ankle and finding out that that was not a joke after. 00:11:41 Speaker 2: All, and now what are we going to do? Yeah, that's tough because at first I thought, wait a minute, is this like a fake Adam Schefter account? Is this AI? And I'm sure Todd you probably felt the same way. 00:11:55 Speaker 9: You could not believe that, I thought because more and more, which is horrible, and that people should sue for that. By the way, hey, makes it look like players and coaches are saying something and they do something with the audio in the lift and it sounds and looks obviously just like them. And I thought someone was making a joke when Sean Peyton was telling to Press that bow Knicks is not playing next week. 00:12:10 Speaker 2: Yeah, well, we'd moved on to the next game, and I'm not thinking anything about bow Nicks, like, all right, Broncos, are they favored by how many? You know that we had already moved on from that, And then I thought, wow, that is shocking, because then then you start to do your rolodex of plays where you go, I don't remember him getting hurt, and then all of a sudden they located that play and you could see where you know, his ankle got kind of tangled up a little bit there, and you know, you can break a bone, you can tear a ligament, and you know that you're hurt. You don't know the severity of that, And I think bow Nicks knew something was up. And then by the end of the game you could tell where his motions were, I'm not gonna be able to play, whereas in a game and the adrenalines going and you know in your mind you have to have denial because you're like, no, no, no, I'm good. You know, I'm tweaked it a little bit. But if you break a bone, I mean I've torn a ligament before in my knee, and I knew something was wrong. I just didn't know, you know, how bad it was. And that's not like, you know, we think of a broken ankle. That's a broken bone in his ankle. You break your ankle, you know you're not getting up. But he broke a bone. Nothing he can do about it. Yeah, Ton, and I read a. 00:13:39 Speaker 9: Few columns that's posed on the sideline. Sean Payton gave him like a little congratulatory pushed to his chest and he's and he said, careful, Boe said to Sean Payton. 00:13:46 Speaker 13: He's like, well, you're right. 00:13:48 Speaker 9: And there was like a little like this exchange there where he knew that something was not just right. 00:13:52 Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, and you know your body and so I'm sure that it was like, oh boy, you know, maybe I just twisted it, maybe I sprained it. And then he quickly realized because when he's being interviewed on CBS after the game, he's not even putting any weight on that foot. That was the telltale sign. All right, we'll get to more phone calls coming up. Did we give an updated poll question for hour two setan? 00:14:18 Speaker 9: Uh? 00:14:19 Speaker 2: Well, I've got. 00:14:19 Speaker 7: One here that maybe you could help populate a little bit. But the quarterback that had the most difficult time sleeping last night, oh, Josh Allen, CJ. Stroud, Caleb Williams. 00:14:31 Speaker 2: I put Bo. 00:14:32 Speaker 7: Nixon there too, just because it's a crappy injury to get this time. 00:14:36 Speaker 2: Well, I'd say c J. Stroud because I don't even know if the Texans have landed yet in Houston because they've had flight issues. He might not have slept. I can't imagine that everybody is awake, you know, you're trying to land in CJ's you know, saw on logs there. 00:14:55 Speaker 5: Lot. 00:14:55 Speaker 2: Yeah, I know you probably haven't heard that in a while, have you. I didn't know where that comes. Is that the zs like a song that like you're sawing logs? And I never counted sheep either, So I don't know. We come up with these corny things, but you know, you grow up with a different vernacular. 00:15:16 Speaker 7: Yeah, back in the day, counting sheep might have been a little more Uh yeah, relevant. 00:15:22 Speaker 2: I guess I don't know, but what about uh sawing logs there, yeah, pulling I just looked it up. 00:15:28 Speaker 6: Of course, sawing logs dot com. Song logs was used all the way back in the thirties and forties for snoring, loud snoring, sawing logs. Oh like the motion of us saw a band saw. 00:15:44 Speaker 2: I would never think about that that. It would be like, well, you know what that sounds like. You know when I'm sawing logs out in the back. Yeah, see when your wife snores, you're not thinking about that. Uh, you know somebody sawing logs all right? 00:15:57 Speaker 7: No tonight though, when she does, I'm gonna be like, what are you lumberjacket? 00:16:01 Speaker 2: Are you? Paul Ette Buneon man, let's start calling at the lumberjack. Then how about we take a break. Steve Tasker will join us, and he was going to join us to wrap up the season. Now he's going to join us to talk about where do they go and their coaching search as Sean mcdermot's been fired. Take a break back after this. 00:16:20 Speaker 1: Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. 00:16:29 Speaker 14: Hey is Covino and Rich from Fox Sports Radio. 00:16:32 Speaker 2: Now. 00:16:32 Speaker 14: In addition to hearing us live weekdays from five to seven pm Eastern two to four Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, we're excited to announce a brand new YouTube channel for the show. 00:16:42 Speaker 2: Yup, that's right. 00:16:43 Speaker 14: You can now watch Covino and Rich live on YouTube every day. Do not underestimate the importance of the head coaching decision given that the Bills will be in their new stadium next season. This happens occasionally with teams moving into new stadiums. And I don't know if you're shocked that the Buffalo Bills need a new head coach. I guess there's a surprise element with this. Steve Tasker, former Bills great and part of the broadcast team. This is our annual let's talk about how the Bills got eliminated from the playoffs. Steve, but there's a you know, interesting element added to this with Sean McDermott. How surprised were you that he got fired? 00:17:42 Speaker 15: Very very surprised. Yeah, in my of course, I'm one of those guys that played a long time in the league and appeared in Super Bowl, never won a Super Bowl. So you can take this with a grain of salt because I don't know what it is to win a championship, but having a swing at it every year is pretty important. I think the Bills were right there, and most of the losses they've suffered during their tent during Shawn's tenure were almost so unique you almost had a name for him. It took a really incredible and and let's say this on in the Denver game this last week, and the Bills didn't the Bills team didn't play well. Josh didn't play well, the defense didn't play well. You know, they just didn't play their best and almost still found a way to win that game. Yeah, it's a it's a tough It's tough because you know, particularly I'm I'm in the building every day, and uh, when you change, you know, so like Dan, it's a little bit like the Dan Patrick Show. Losing Dan Patrick, there's a lot of people that are affected by it, and you can't take that for granted. It's gonna be a big change in a in a huge transition for the organization. You don't know what's going to happen the next next few weeks, so we'll see. But can't underrest. You can't understate or overstate. I'm sorry. You can't overstate what he has meant to the franchise, what he did for him, the culture established, what he's meant to the community, the example he's been to his players. I know his players revere him. Yeah, it's going to be an absolutely enormous transition process. 00:19:21 Speaker 2: Was he in the building this morning? I do not know. Okay, I don't know. 00:19:25 Speaker 15: This is all and we have heard nothing official from the team yet. This has all been reported from outlets that we know to be and the note to be trustworthy. So and it's all over the radio obviously here in Buffalo as well. 00:19:39 Speaker 2: But you're in the building, but you haven't officially been told that Sean mcdermot's been fired. No. 00:19:45 Speaker 15: No, I would imagine though, given the sources that we've heard from and the somber nature of the building, that is probably true. 00:19:57 Speaker 2: Why did the Bills lose to Denver. 00:20:00 Speaker 15: Turned it over. That's always been the bugaboo with this team. You know, Josh obviously had a couple of bad turnovers. You know, the sack strip fumble up right right after halftime is probably not his fault. The fumble before halftime they gave Denver three points. Yeah, absolutely was Josh's fault. The long interception down the middle, that's an arm punt. You can kind of live with that. But you can't overstate the fact James Cook going in they were moving the football it will against Denver. Early on it looked like it was going to get a runway and if the Bills don't turn it over the whole game, it probably is a runaway win. But they did five times. That's too many, and they paid the price for it. 00:20:37 Speaker 2: But I wonder if because everybody made a big deal of no Lamar, no ma Homes, no Burrow, it's wide open. You guys should be going to the super Bowl. That raised the stakes here for Sean McDermott, certainly with Josh Allen, But Sewan McDermott's the one who paid the ultimate price here. 00:20:55 Speaker 15: Yeah, maybe, I still I don't think he gets to this point of the playoffs and don't meet good football teams. Patriots play out standing the game against a really good Houston Texans game. Texans team, certainly you can tell C. J. Stroud doesn't belong in the same conversation as Josh Allen. In my opinion, Drake May has got a solid coaching staff and a great roster around him and has played extremely well, very efficient all year. Stafford same thing. So yeah, you can make a case that the deck was cleared from the quarterbacks position, but you still got to beat the entire team, and it's still not going to be easy for New England to go into Denver and beat Jared Stidham. Although in hindsight, I mean, man oh man, you shake your head at the twists and turns of the season, and this last one certainly has got to be enticing for Patriot fans going in there with with Drake May, the MVP candidate, going against Jared Stidham, a New England draft pick back. 00:21:57 Speaker 5: In the day. 00:21:58 Speaker 2: And I know this is still thresh this wound, but could you see a scenario where the Bill's brought back Brian Dable as a head coach. 00:22:07 Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean, he's a Buffalo guy I grew up here, you know. I know he's well thought of in the building. I'm sure they're going to scour the landscape for the right guy, and I think even if it takes a little bit of extra time. One of the things that the Bills learned during the drought, it's not just about picking the right guys, about getting them to say yes as well. I think it's more important to get the right guy than to get the guy in the next week or two weeks. Even if it takes three or four weeks or a month, if it's the right guy, you'll be fine even in the first year. So yeah, Brian Dabel would be on the list. I think there's a number of guys that are on the list. They may even they may not even go off offensive guy. They may go leadership, may go like a Mike Tumlin or Brian Flores or something like that as well. There's some quality guys out there, really quality guys. But there's only thirty two jobs and you've got one of them, and you've got to make sure that the guy you get is gonna fit, not just the spot where you're at now. Because there's a lot of guys that will fit with Josh Allen as their quarterback. You got to have a guy who's got a plan going forward. 00:23:26 Speaker 2: Help me understand ownership there. They don't strike me as you know, we're going to make a you know, he's a quick decision on firing Sean McDermott. I don't know if they're reactionary in that way. It'd been there nine years. But do you think this was in the works. Do you think he was actually coaching for his job yesterday? 00:23:48 Speaker 15: No, I don't think so. I don't think so. I think it's a little bit of exasperation and and I think they probably got some you know, there is a little bit even though each of these laws that I mentioned, it's hard to beat this team. I mean, they're a tough out. They're always there even during the regular season. They have to help you almost to get a tough out. But even that, that whole strength of through the nine years that Sean was here, that became a little bit of the characteristic of the team. So maybe they to get out of that of having these massively unusual and weird and close last minute, weird official call, missed call, whatever you want to call them. That's the that's the trait that they're trying to change, and they and the head coach is probably that there is Their answer to is Terry Pagoula's answer to it, brianon Bean's answer to it. They do have. All the losses have had a quirky characteristic that is always there. They're trying to find a way to get around that. 00:24:54 Speaker 2: I think tough daid for you. I know, I appreciate you going as Steve. 00:25:01 Speaker 15: Yeah, I just tell I'll say this, Seawan, it was an incredible ambassador for Buffalo. I feel for he and his wife Jamie, and all the guys on the staff because all these guys, all these coaches go into limbo uh on a. It's it's a little more personal for me maybe than it's ever been because Shawn's been here for almost a decade. He's an outstanding human being. He'll be a little bit along the lines of the Mike Tomlin firing earlier this year. If he wants to work, people will hire him. But I'll say this, it's hard. It's hard to say goodbye to a place like this. It's hard for people in this building say goodbye to Sean and his family. They've been a big part of our lives and a lot of everybody in this building owes their job to him, right, So, uh, it's a deeply personal thing, and and I know that while we're we talk about it at an armless length level. It's a rough day here in the in in Buffalo, no question about it. 00:25:56 Speaker 2: Thank you, Steve. Steve Tasker, former Buffalo Bills all and part of the broadcast team. Yeah, you could hear it in his voice. It's one of those where you're in the building, but you haven't you're not in the know. You haven't been told that the head coach has been fired. That the insiders are the ones that have that information. But the people in the building. A couple of phone calls here, and I wonder, is Josh Allen involved with the next coach that's hired. We saw this with the Ravens with their owner talking about Lamar Jackson. Hey, you want to be involved in this, then you better fly up here when we're doing these interviews here. Is that something that I mean? And Josh Allen has certainly earned that right of who are you bringing in? Are you bringing in an offensive minded person or is it going to be I don't see Mike Tomlin. There, Brian Flores feels like he's going to get a job defensive coordinator. But do you bring back Brian Dable. You're going into a new stadium, So there's a lot of things that go into this. Yes, Marvin the. 00:27:01 Speaker 3: Next head coach of the Bills, he's on a shorter leash, right because the expectation is you got to take us over the hump, almost like a John Gruden Tony Dungee's situation. 00:27:10 Speaker 2: Well, Baltimore, I mean the stakes are pretty high there. It's not just make the playoffs, how about we win a couple of games? Yeah, I would think so. The Steelers stakes are high. It's not just make the playoffs, it's win a couple of playoff games. Buffalo, same thing. You're going to get into the playoffs. Now what do you do when you get into the playoffs? 00:27:32 Speaker 3: Yes, Mark, are you putting the Steelers in that conversation because football wise, they're not at the same position as the Ravens and. 00:27:39 Speaker 2: The franchise wise they are. 00:27:41 Speaker 3: Oh no, no, I'm with you completely. But that's almost like say, twenty years ago, I took the Dame job, but they won six games last year. But still their order Dame, so it might be the same situation with the Steelers, right, No. 00:27:52 Speaker 2: They make the playoffs every year, they have a winning record. Every year. 00:27:56 Speaker 3: They overachieved though. 00:27:58 Speaker 2: Yeah and some yes, I think they did this year. I do TJ in Texas. I TJ best and worst of the weekend. 00:28:06 Speaker 11: Hey, Dan, kind of a bummer to follow that Tasker interview, but I'll do my best here. I was fortunate enough this weekend to probably see the coolest sporting event of the weekend, regardless of all these playoff games. 00:28:22 Speaker 16: I was able to go down to San Antonio and watch Wenby and Aunt go toe to toe, and let me tell you, that was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my life. 00:28:33 Speaker 17: I'm almost fifty years old, and you know, I grew up in the eighties, Bird Magic, all those Jordan, But watching those two studs just go back. 00:28:43 Speaker 2: And forth was incredible, man. 00:28:46 Speaker 17: And I had to give it. I had to give you a call and just just just put. 00:28:49 Speaker 2: It out during the world how cool that was? 00:28:51 Speaker 5: That was? That was amazing. 00:28:53 Speaker 2: Yeah, didn't Ann have fifty five. He's still a curiosity to me. I got I think he's a great talent, but I don't know if he has like that. It factor like we don't talk about him in the MVP conversation, and it's almost like he burst onto the scene and we go, man, that guy is good, and then all of a sudden, you know there were comparisons. He has Jordan like qualities, but it doesn't he doesn't get mentioned when you say best players in the game. It's almost like you go, oh yeah, and Anthony Edwards as well. I mean, he's got charisma, but like Wemby's in front of him, you still have Joker when he comes back sga oh jucy where Durant now is the sixth all time leading scorer in NBA history. Kids, pull up jumper mid range, don't be afraid, don't be afraid. 00:29:55 Speaker 3: Yes, Mark Well, going back to Anthony Edwards. But in the playoffs, he gets busy. He's eliminated Lebron, he's eliminated Kevin Durant, He's eliminated Joker during one of his MVP seasons, So you're right. During the regular season, you know, he puts up a nice twenty four night, but then when the lights are brightest, he goes to work. 00:30:16 Speaker 2: Can Durant get into the top five in scoring. PAULI he can. 00:30:20 Speaker 6: It'd be tough this year. He is seven hundred and thirty points behind Michael Jordan. 00:30:25 Speaker 2: Perhaps you find oh. 00:30:30 Speaker 6: He's two thousand, one hundred behind Kobe that's tougher. 00:30:35 Speaker 2: Well, he's going to play another year, I mean, right, barring injury. As they like to say, Yeah, Gibbs in Virginia Beach, Gibbs, thank you for the wedding invitation that you sent us. 00:30:50 Speaker 18: Thank you, Dan. At the risk of sounding like Nicole and Texas, I got a couple of things for you. Best and worst of the weekend. Again. I don't want to pile on the bills, but Sean McDermot getting fired forty eight games over five hundred, I believe that's pretty tough to take. Obviously, he's had some notable playoff losses, but still a great coach. I'm sure he'll He'll land somewhere. And Monica and Raleigh stole my thunder a little bit, but big ups to Drake may be in the bright spot for tar Heels football with a win for New England, Dan, I do want to thank you for calling out and recognizing our wedding. I look forward to seeing you in April. You can kill two birds with one stone and come see James in Virginia. And because you were wondering, is James the same on air as he is every day? I got a call from James as he was walking into his building at work and it was, Hey, Charles, how was the cookout this weekend? Hey Monica? I love the baby pictures. I mean it's James all the time. So I hope we can see you in April. 00:31:58 Speaker 2: Well, thank you. Check my calendar and I've got two weddings in April. Yeah. Man, I would have loved to have been there. You know, I get so emotional. Gibbs walking down the aisle probably cry And yes, Marph. 00:32:13 Speaker 3: You should send Dylan down and Dylan would probably go it's a great wedding guest. But he wasn't invited. I mean, Gibbs did send me the wedding invitation. 00:32:23 Speaker 2: It's very nice. Let me take a break. We will give you our best and worst of the weekend coming up. Albert Breer, the Monday morning quarterback. He got a little bit busier this morning as the Buffalo Bills now need a new head coach. 00:32:39 Speaker 1: We'll take a break. We're back after this Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to listen live. 00:32:52 Speaker 2: Patriots are five and a half point favorites at the Broncos. The Broncos would have been a one point favorite if Bo Nick's was playing. The Rams are getting two and a half in Seattle and Miami. They're getting seven and a half against Indiana coming up tonight. There was part of me that was thinking that the Bears were going to go for two, but they were at home, and I thought, you know what, you're in this game. Don't lose the game. And I thought the defense was playing well enough where okay, they're not running up and down the field. But I did wonder about that with would they go for would Ben Johnson go for the two point conversion? But I think he thought, as I did, Hey, we're in this game and the play that we'll be talked about for a long long time, and that is Caleb Williams with the touchdown. Do we have the here's the play by play call of Caleb Williams Rams show blitz. They peel off to that left snap to Williams. 00:33:54 Speaker 6: Williams tapping up being chased, going way back now, back to his forty bluffs there pressing at. 00:33:59 Speaker 2: The end, ze talk to back cut the ball Dutch down left corner of the end zone. 00:34:04 Speaker 1: My goodness, b I span get. 00:34:06 Speaker 5: It one fourth time. 00:34:08 Speaker 2: Tears are down a point seventeen sixteen, fourth and four and magical. I text Paully after that, I said, the Rams deserve to lose if you're going to let the tight end get behind you in the end zone. I just think the secondary didn't think he could make that kind of throw. And it was one of those where you go, oh my god. And he didn't have a great game, but he's not afraid of the big moments, and that's what I love about him. I mean, that's his second playoff game and Ben Johnson is going to put him in position to succeed. You know, it's it's a great marriage. I know people doubted if Ben Johnson was the right guy or Caleb Williams, you know, was worthy of being getting all this attention. And the answer is yes, yes to both of those. Ben did a great job. And you know, look at Rabel and Mike McDonald, like you don't just go in there and turn teams around like that. But now we look at John Harbaugh, Well, why can't the Giants be what the Patriots were? By the way, speaking of Mike Brabe, all the Buffalo Bills made it official. Nobody in the building knew there was nothing official. But now they just put out a statement that says Sean McDermott has been relieved of his dute. Never fired, it's relieved of his duties. By the way, Mike Rabel, who was hired three hundred and seventy two days ago, is now the longest tenured coach in the AFC East. 00:35:50 Speaker 18: Wow. 00:35:52 Speaker 2: Now you're joking, Wow, wow, all that stability coaching. Mike Rabel, Man, he's been there forever three hundred and seventy two days. And let's go around the room. Best and worst of the weekend, Toddler. 00:36:13 Speaker 9: I'll make this brief, no shock going to the AFC title game and beating Buffalo, the best, the worst bow knicks getting hurt, and we'll see what happens with Stehem Seaton O'Connor. 00:36:22 Speaker 7: My best of the weekend is Mike Rabel. That's a hell of a turnaround coach of the year, for sure. My worst of the weekend Josh Allen. It's really not worst, but seeing Josh Allen just how crushed he was, and then seeing the locker room react to how crushed he was or they're crushed, that was That was tough. It seems like a really good group there, you know, a tight, close knit group of players, and now. 00:36:44 Speaker 2: They need a new head coach. And now they needed a new head coach. Coach the guy who helped create that culture. 00:36:50 Speaker 7: He created that culture there. 00:36:51 Speaker 2: Yeah, Marvin, Best and worst of the weekend. 00:36:54 Speaker 3: I'll start with my worst, obviously, my forty nine ers getting molly wat by the Seahawks. Best in the weekend, your favoritv Ban, my favorite band, our favorite band, Green Day. They're going to be doing the opening ceremonies for the Big Game in San Francisco. What's the opening ceremonies basically? I guess like the pre show concert. 00:37:12 Speaker 2: Oh, can we reach out to Billy Joe Armstrong and see if he'll join us when we're at the Big Game? 00:37:18 Speaker 9: Absolutely? 00:37:18 Speaker 2: Yeah, that way, you know he can scold me if he wants to about me with my Green Day opinion? 00:37:30 Speaker 9: Right, Todd, Yeah, he got back to me and said, wake me up when September. 00:37:33 Speaker 2: And I don't even know what that means. 00:37:35 Speaker 9: It's games in February. 00:37:36 Speaker 17: I'm not sure like it. 00:37:37 Speaker 6: Todd Paul Best of the Weekend, Jakwon McMillan, Broncos defensive back. That play, no matter what you think of the call, was unbelievable. To stay with it and he saved his team's entire playoffs. And then the other one, the kaishaon booty booty calls were calling it the touchdown catch with the Patriots. That didn't look real. He had two fingers on that. 00:37:59 Speaker 2: Ball and on to it. 00:38:00 Speaker 6: It was stunning, stunning. 00:38:02 Speaker 2: I had to watch it from another angle because I thought, well, he didn't catch that, but boy gave it a great try and you're going now he caught it. He caught it, by the way. I speaking of musicians, I went to see the song Sung Blue the Now. It's not a Neil Diamond biopic. It's about a couple and they create the Neil Diamond experience and they're from Wisconsin and they become a big deal in Wisconsin. Kate Hudson's wonderful. Hugh Jackman does a great job as a Neil Diamond impersonator Kate Hudson can sing and took the wife there yesterday morning. Nothing like a morning movie, so we can get She goes, why are we going so early? I said, so I can get back to watch football. You get out. You know, Daylight loves seeing a day movie. But I thought it was really well done, tasted, tasted. It was National Popcorn Deck. Oh, you could bring whatever canister container you wanted. They were gonna fill it up with popcorn. 00:39:11 Speaker 3: That's fantastic. 00:39:12 Speaker 2: Yes, there were people who had those lows buckets and they had they brought it in storage bins. They had a bucket and they just filled it up with popcorn. How much popcorn can you eat? Well, I don't know. And do you ever get to the movie and you still eat the popcorn? It feels like during the previews and then you're done. I eat it. 00:39:34 Speaker 7: I'm done within ten minutes of the movie starting. 00:39:37 Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't even get to them. We didn't get to the movie just watching the trailers. Yes, don is it okay to bring left of a popcorn home? Or is that kind of said? You just throw it out? 00:39:44 Speaker 9: Whatever you may not have eaten because you bought too big a thing of popcorn, Well, you just spend that much money on it. 00:39:50 Speaker 2: No, it was five dollars for all the popcorn you wanted. 00:39:54 Speaker 9: Normally it could be like, you know, oy, nine ten eleven dollars, Like you feel like you should almost bring home the rest of it because you spent the month on popcorn. 00:40:00 Speaker 2: It is expensive to go to the movies. Two small sodas and five dollars popcorn seventeen dollars, So even with that, it's still it's tough. 00:40:12 Speaker 7: Yes, yes, I went to a movie theater recently where you can you sit at your seat, but you can order food, you know, stuff like that, And that was bizarre. That was really weird to me because like you would be sitting there watching this movie and then a waiter would come through and say, excuse me. 00:40:29 Speaker 2: You order the chicken fingers. 00:40:30 Speaker 7: I have a case of dia here for someone there. 00:40:33 Speaker 2: You go, oh, okay, I'll be right allie. And I'm trying to watch the movie. Well, my wife and I we had a couple next to us and they were talking through the movie, you know, where they're asking questions, they're answering questions the whole time, the whole time, and It's one of those where you kind of go, you know, it didn't work. They're they're telling you how it's gonna end. Oh my god, is she gonna lose her leg? Oh? Think that that's and I'm going oh. Oh. Albert Rear, the Monday Morning Quarterback, on what the Bills do from here on out.
