Now here's Matt Jones. 00:01:09 Speaker 3: Welk gome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio Hour number two eight. I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven here at the KS bar and Grill got a lot of folks in from all over. This is the holidays. I always like it. You get people coming in from all over the place. Schools starting to let out. I gave my Georgetown final exam yesterday. Mario enforced the no cheating rule and he brought me all of them here, and I'm gonna I'm gonna be grading papers over the next week or so make sure all my students passed. 00:01:38 Speaker 1: So he didn't nobody was cheating. He didn't catch any cheaters. 00:01:41 Speaker 3: Uh, he said, no cheaters, right, no cheaters. That's good. I got to congratulate you know I have in my class. I've got handful of football players, handful of basketball players, and the Georgetown College basketball team is now number one in America the NAI and one of the best players is in my class. Oh yeah, yeah. I told nice job to way to represent the GC. Do you think part of your instruction has helped me out? There's no doubt. I mean, the coach hasn't thanked me yet, but but I I think he probably thinks that I'm at least a small part of it. 00:02:14 Speaker 4: There was only a few steps into Repparena last night when a blue coat ran up to me and said, I saw Professor Mario running around here. 00:02:19 Speaker 3: So he's already known as professor Professor Mario, he said he on the way in. I said, you're now a professor. He goes, I'm a ta, which I felt like that was good. He didn't want to step too far to start. But now my my semester is over, and now I don't have to worry about teaching anymore until next year. 00:02:36 Speaker 1: So when you have to have this final graded in. 00:02:38 Speaker 3: Line, it's flexible. They usually they usually give me a date. I don't always get it in by then, but you know what if they find a way to do it. I told you one time I had a dad yell. 00:02:48 Speaker 1: At me because you didn't have it. Admitted it was. 00:02:51 Speaker 3: Mad that I didn't have the grade in yet. He was like, we pay this school, blah blah blah. So I graded that kid's paper really quick so that he would uh it today. Man, just all right, man, just leave me alone like Kentucky plays Louisville today. Just give me a break. I'll grade your kids paper. You did, fine, just chill out. 00:03:06 Speaker 1: Do you want do you want Drew and Shannon and I to greet them? 00:03:08 Speaker 3: No? No, no, all right, I'll tell you what you mean to ask you one of the questions. Okay, all right, here we go. Uh. Samson University is about to set up a women's soccer team for the first time. They already have a men's soccer team at the school, and they want to make sure they comply with all the Title nine requirements for equal treatment based on gender. When determining the budgets and facilities for the women's soccer team, what do they need to do to ensure they are compliant with all the legal rules? 00:03:38 Speaker 1: Well, I would say, go to Title nine dot com dot com and get and you you said, I have my notes, and I'd probably refer to everything I took. I took good notes in it. Did you take good in that day? 00:03:50 Speaker 3: Okay? Is that title reumeral? Now? Yeah, your ro I'll give you an easier There are six types of intentional torts that can come into play in the context of sports. Name four of them and give an example of how they would come into play in sports. Towards see again you're set up to pass towards sports. 00:04:13 Speaker 1: But again again. I go to torch dot com. Okay, and I took really good notes that day. 00:04:19 Speaker 3: I think my students will do better than you did on this one. Okay. So the UK football schedule came out, and if you're Mark Stoops, you already knew the teams you were gonna play, but you probably couldn't have gotten a worse order of playing them. I'm gonna read you in order the schedule if you haven't heard at Home yet. We start the season with Toledo at home. Then we have Old Miss at home. Week two, Eastern Michigan week three at home. Then we are open date after week three, then away South Carolina, away Georgia, open date home Texas home, Tennessee at Auburn home, Florida home, Louisiana, mon Roe at Vandy at Louisville. Here are the two things that stick out to me about it. Number one, I mean, what a brutal sec start the five teams that are the hardest you play in the first five games. I mean, so like you have no chance to get a couple of you know, we used to kind of play South Carolina. Sometimes at the beginning when they weren't good and early in the year, you might get Florida or Vandy and you could seal it. Not this year, two open dates in the first six weeks of the year. I don't like that. I don't know why our open dates are so close. Why couldn't we get them spread out. That's kind of weird. We go a month without a home game, so we had our home games are bunched up at the beginning of the year and then in October and early November. But we go middle of September to middle of October with no home games and just a old miss home Week two. I mean, that's a major game for them, whether they went like you can't go get blown out in that one. And then you go to South Carolina, go to Georgia, Texas and Tennessee home back to back. Couple positives if you want to find them. We finally get a November home game against Florida. We've always wanted to make them come up here when it's cold. We finally get to do that for the first time in twenty years. Probably. But what I look at, Drew, is I look at the schedule and See home Old Miss away, South Carolina away, Georgia home, Texas home Tennessee, and you sit there and go if Mark starts zero to five in sec play, I don't know how he keeps this thing going and keeps this fan base in. He's gonna have to pull a couple upsets early in the year. But you do have a chance, if you want, and if you want to be optimistic, to go on a run to end the year with away Auburn home, Florida home Louisiana, Monroe away, Vandy away Louisville. You could make an argument that you can in all five of those games, but hopefully you're not two and five going into those games. 00:07:05 Speaker 4: Yeah, that stretch is the easiest stretch on the schedule, but you just gotta wonder the state of everything around you when you get to that point. Florida being so late in the year was one of my immedia takeaways. It's the latest it's been since nineteen ninety. But you could be two and six and people could have already checked out when you finally get them on a cold day, for sure. Another one jumps out. Texas's first ever trip here is during a Keenland weekend. There might be more Texas people than Kentucky people at that game. They travel, well, it's the arch Manning era. They'll be fired up. They're hungry from just missing out on the SEC. So there's gonna be they will take over this town on October eighteen. 00:07:39 Speaker 3: I didn't think about that. That is gonna be Keenland weekend. There will be a good jillion people here that weekend. 00:07:45 Speaker 4: That's a good South Carolina kind of a must win game if you want to do anything special. Even though they're gonna be very good, it's after a bye week. I don't even know why we bother playing football after bie weeks. At this point with Kentucky, it seems to always be a loss. It's just I usually am the optimistic and we get made fun of as the season goes on. This year, my prediction is gonna stink when it comes time to that point. 00:08:05 Speaker 3: Well maybe, I mean, we were very optimistic this year. Maybe we'll be pessimistic in the workout. But I think if your mark and you, I mean you already knew the teams you were gonna play, but I don't think they could have bunched them up much worse for you. Here, Ryan, do. 00:08:17 Speaker 1: You I think, just in my opinion, this is the hardest UK football schedule I've ever seen, just the way they're bunched up. Like Drew said, they don't play well after a bye, don't play well. Suckline's beat you the last two years, Vanny's beat you two of the last three years at home. I just I just don't think there's a lot of wins out there. 00:08:36 Speaker 3: Do you think I look at those first games, you know, take the two stinky teams out. I look at Old Miss at home at South Carolina, and I look that, look at that and think, Ryan, you gotta win one of those two. You have to. You gotta win one of those two. You know might be too much to ask you, but to win both. But you gotta find a way to win one of those two games, right, You. 00:08:59 Speaker 1: Absolutely have to in one of those two games, because what's coming up, that gauntlet they're going through. In October. 00:09:04 Speaker 3: You get Georgia Texas Tennessee back to back. 00:09:07 Speaker 1: That's as brutal as any schedule in America. 00:09:10 Speaker 3: You get basically three playoff teams. Yeah, I mean the SEC has three playoff teams and you're playing them back to back. To back. 00:09:19 Speaker 4: I don't want to be sky as falling guy. But Week one Toledo. They went to Mississippi State won by twenty four. Last it should be Toledo. But that's not a pushover in week one of your non conference opponents. 00:09:31 Speaker 3: You used to have it in that spot. 00:09:34 Speaker 1: I mean, it's not crazy to say this team the record's gonna be worse next year than it was this year. 00:09:40 Speaker 3: Well, he can't survive that though, right, I mean, I look, I'm for it. I'm gonna write a post on KSR plus. Maybe today, it might be, it might be tomorrow, but I'm gonna kind of ride about where I hear things being because I have had a couple of long conversations with people around the program, and I I am optimistic. Okay, so there were like three things I was worried about. Point one, here's what I'm I'm gonna go from optimistic to I hope to pessimistic. Okay, Okay, here's the optimistic point. I do think Mark is all in. There can be some complaints, and I have complaints about what happened this year, and maybe the all in this or not this year, but I think he got awoken and I think he's all in now. Whether that's gonna work is a different point, But I some of my worries of what is he really Does he really want this? I don't feel that way as much today as maybe I did a couple weeks ago. I'm hoping they keep a lot of what they have together. I do think it's kind of hanging by a thread, and so so far dang Key is the only part of the thread that's come off. I'm hoping the rest of it stays. I think they have the money in the portal to go do something, but so do a lot of people. So are you gonna be able to go get the guys that you need? The thing I'm more pessimistic about, though, is can you get talent? Can you put an offensive to line together? From the portal? It's basically what we're gonna be asking. Can you go get five new offensive linemen and it work? I don't know. We haven't seen many teams be able to do that, Drew. We'll see if we're one that can. 00:11:34 Speaker 4: Yeah, he's got a lot of needs and we thought they did well in the portal a year ago. So whatever they go out and get, I just don't know. How you get people enthusiastic when they're staring at that schedule and a bunch of new pieces that many people are gonna be expected. 00:11:47 Speaker 3: Well, how do you even know? I mean, like, so I was looking at Adam Luckett. He had listed the guys that are gonna visit. I mean, the reality is, I don't know if any of these guys are any. I mean, how do I know if they're good? Like you show me? We're gonna get an offensive linemen from like Western Michigan. Is he good? I don't know, maybe maybe not. How in the world would I know that? You know, I saw that we're looking at quarterbacks. One of the guys that apparently we're looking at is the quarterback at Yale. I don't know. I mean, maybe maybe not. I didn't watch Yale play. I have no idea. I think we are gonna get a commitment from a guy who started two straight years at Arkansas and offensive guard. I think he's gonna be a commitment. Okay, that's good. He started two straight years offensive guard. Looks like Arkansas fans really don't want to lose him. That's good. But I don't know. They weren't that good. So, like it's hard. I don't know what they can even do to make me feel more confident because these guys they're bringing in RN, I'm not gonna know who they are, and I'm not gonna know if they're gonna be successful. 00:12:59 Speaker 1: They had had so much success in the transfer portal up until last year. Last year, these had some misses. They have to hit a home run this year. I mean they they we won't know, I know. 00:13:08 Speaker 3: I mean, we're not gonna like we've not We're not gonna know if these guys are good. You told me last year brought Vandergriff, not you, but just in general, top high school recruit came from Georgia. I thought, well, that'll work absolutely and it did, didn't You So like how much you know? Maybe the Yale guys better. But there's no way to know. 00:13:29 Speaker 4: And what's scary is there's no way for Mark Stoops to know. I mean, it's true. They're really just gonna have to hope, wish and pray that something pans out. They're gonna they're watching film. They're gonna get what they think is the best option. But until next September, no one's gonna have any idea what it looks like and for you to be a coach and have so much on the line in this one year, that's not the scenario you want where you're just hoping it works out. But I think that's where they're gonna have to be. Putting all these pieces together from other schools. 00:13:53 Speaker 3: There's gonna be a lot of hope, right, and then they gotta get to hope. 00:13:57 Speaker 1: We wish two tackles, and so you just gotta hope they tackles, they go out and get or. 00:14:02 Speaker 3: You gotta hope, and then you gotta say, man, we gotta win one of those early games because if this fan let's be real, if this fan base, if we're two and five and then basketball season starts, this fan base will I mean, we know what they'll do. They'll go out, this ain't working. 00:14:22 Speaker 4: If you're two and five, you're probably going two and seven with the games lining up after that after that by week. 00:14:27 Speaker 1: I couldn't believe it when I saw that schedule unveiled yesterday, like, oh my goodness, yeah, I mean there is no once you once you hit October Man, it's. 00:14:36 Speaker 3: Three playoff teams back to back to back. Ouch ouch is right, But I'll tell you what at least you have the Emirates NBA Cup. Okay, tell me that it's going to the semifinals. Do you know who's in it? 00:14:52 Speaker 1: The Atlanta Hawks? 00:14:53 Speaker 3: Okay, who else? That's what? 00:14:54 Speaker 1: The Golden State Warriors they lost last night, the Los Angeles Lakers. 00:15:00 Speaker 3: Ned didn't even make the playoffs. 00:15:03 Speaker 1: Minnesota Timbals, Boston Celtics. 00:15:05 Speaker 3: All right, so you're terrible at this. But for everybody else's exciting. You have the Hawks, Yeah, the Hawks and the Rockets. Oh that I just saw that. And then you have Milwaukee and Oklahoma City. That's who's in it. 00:15:20 Speaker 1: Shay's like on fire right now. 00:15:22 Speaker 3: Yes, you can bet five, get one hundred and fiftyen bonus bets if your bet wins score big with the Draft Kings Sports Book codis KSR for new customers, one hundred and fifteen bonus bets if your bet wins tried out. I won a good parlay last night on the on the Rockets game. You can too called one and if you have a gaming problem, called one hundred game where bonus bits fire one hundred and sixty eight hours after issue. It's see dkang dot co slash b ball. You know who's like the hottest trade piece in the NBA right now. Everybody's talking about your boy Nick Richards, like some contender is gonna go trade for Nick Richards. 00:15:53 Speaker 4: He's like the hottest plea piece right now. One day everyone will learn. You just gotta be a little more patient with him. It takes him a little while to find his rhythm, but he's rolling and. 00:16:01 Speaker 3: He's averaging like twelve and nine this year. Yeah, we were to get on a better team. 00:16:05 Speaker 1: We were listening to that sports talk show in Denver, driving through Denver and they segment was about Nick Richard. 00:16:10 Speaker 3: We'll take a break, be right back. It's kios Are worker back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at KS Bar and grill. Nice crowd here for lunch. You could come on out and join his volleyball game. We'll start playing at one o'clock, Kentucky, Louisville. I have a lot of you asking about coming Saturday games at five fifteen. What times our pregame. 00:16:34 Speaker 1: Show start two. 00:16:36 Speaker 3: Thirty to three thirty, So I would say, you know, any time, like when we open at eleven to about one or one thirty. There'll be plenty of space, So start getting crowded, probably two ish, that's just my guess. And then of course we play Louisville. That's gonna be another one. If we win, I'll probably do the postgame show here. If we lose, I'm gonna go in hiding, but hopefully we get the victory. And what do you think the spread will be for that game? 00:17:00 Speaker 4: By the way, I well, I'm gonna assume Butler's back and that they're uh setting with that, I will say eleven and a half. 00:17:08 Speaker 3: That's interesting. Uh yeah, I was gonna say like nine and a half. So what do you think it'll be eight? 00:17:16 Speaker 1: You guys are maybe a little more optimistic than I am. 00:17:18 Speaker 3: Well, see, I don't really know. Loul's hard to figure out. They have a couple of big wins, but then they've got annihilated against some teams as well. The two SEC teams they've played at the home, they've just gotten destroyed. So I oh, miss, oh miss, don't beat them pretty easy. 00:17:34 Speaker 4: Pat pat Kelsey's quote. 00:17:35 Speaker 3: Yeah, so let's look at Pat Kelsey's quote. I feel like this quote, Shannon was made by Ryan Lemon. Uh. They asked Pat Kelsey, They're like, you know, you just had to play you just had to play Old Miss, you had to play Duke, you had to play Tennessee, and now you've got to play Kentucky this week? Do you consider that too stressful and difficult? And here was his quote. No, I mean I get a bunch of free sneakers, I wear sweatsuits to work, my kids are healthy, and my wife is hot. 00:18:05 Speaker 1: I tell you a great answer. 00:18:06 Speaker 3: That answer. 00:18:07 Speaker 1: I love that answer. 00:18:08 Speaker 3: I kind of like that answer too. He's like, basically like, it's not like I'm working in a in assault mine. You know, I'm actually, uh, I'm a basketball coach. So yeah, it's okay. I kind of like that line. 00:18:19 Speaker 1: I do kind of like that line. You know, this is the first matchup was between Pope and Kelsey. I want to not like him, you know, I want to do too, but I kind of like him on the same way. 00:18:29 Speaker 3: I think he's because he's I think it's because he's little. Yeah, and he's got those black glasses. Want to go up and give yea pitch his cheeks and give him a little noogie and say and like you just kind of lift him up. I don't know if any of you all read, but the book he kind of reminds me of what Owen Meani looks like in the book A Prayer for Owen Meani. You can put him on your shoulder and walk him around. I kinda. I mean, I'm sure at some point I'll hate him. I think I found it endearing when he walked around campus going please come to the game, please. I just kind of thought that was I've been part of trying to build a business. He's trying to build a team. I think it's kind of nice. 00:19:07 Speaker 4: As a big Louisville hater, I admit when he had that comment last night, the little Grinch to me by my heart and sizes that day for Pat Kelsey, I actually feel bad for him. What he's doing to get a crowd of those games, and they haven't been showing up. 00:19:20 Speaker 3: Show up now. 00:19:21 Speaker 4: I hope he lose by fifty on Saturday, and I'll continue to make jokes. But I did like his comment last night. I got a little sympathy for him not getting the support he probably. 00:19:28 Speaker 3: And I also I liked it he says, I get to wear I get free shoes, I get to wear sweatsuits to work. Salute man. That's that's exactly why I got out of law business. I got to do those exact two things. He said. What he said, I have great kids and my wife is hot. I don't have a wife, but otherwise I'm in with him, So I mean now I have kids either. Just for the record, I was, I wouldn't saying I just don't know sweat. Yeah, I just till half of it. The other two aren't me. But anyway, who's neck shit, Let's go to Joe. Joe, Go ahead, Joe. 00:20:01 Speaker 5: Hey, guys, enjoyed the show out here on the golf course listening to you guys? Uh comments? Yeah, at forty and sunny. Anyway, Hey, a couple of comments. We need lamon butter bike for sure. 00:20:20 Speaker 6: Saturday. 00:20:21 Speaker 5: But the other thing I wanted to talk about was Monday. You had a guest. He did a great job. But he played some music that it's fantastic. It's called Harold Melvin and Blue and Oak. 00:20:33 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:20:35 Speaker 5: How that you came late seventies early eighties, and we and and our fraternity tried to get him to them to come playing our formal because we loved his music, the music Teddy pinographs, but we weren't able. 00:20:49 Speaker 6: To do that. 00:20:49 Speaker 5: We get connect with the band in Nashville. That kind of reminded us Harold Elvis with his Jimmy Church Bay. But regardless of all this, I think Marko gotta gotta got a great ju thing going here, so I think he could nickname the Sheen Mark Cope and the Blue Notes. 00:21:08 Speaker 3: Okay, I was wondering where you were gonna make that connection. I appreciate the call. I had no idea where that was going. I don't like to give nicknames come naturally, you can't force them. The only other thing I know about Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes was the old Snoop Dog song Doggy Dog World. He says, you're like Harold Melvin in the Blue Notes, you'll never go platinum. And that's all I know about them is that line from Doggy Dog World in like nineteen ninety four. 00:21:39 Speaker 4: I know we want the nicknames to be organic, but a blue coat approached me with one last night. I want to panel. 00:21:44 Speaker 3: It's not terrible. I don't like nicknames, but go ahead. 00:21:48 Speaker 4: The remarkables now, Mark, I mean again, I'm just laying out there. 00:21:54 Speaker 3: You want to call them the remarkables. I didn't. 00:21:57 Speaker 4: I'm just I told him I would bring it up on the show. This is me bringing it up on the show. I'm a man of my word. 00:22:02 Speaker 3: Since Devastation Incorporated, I don't remember one that has really really struck me. 00:22:07 Speaker 4: What if they capitalized the mark when it's OK? 00:22:10 Speaker 1: There was a guy here during our pregame show that said he was gonna do the away, away, away away? Did he Did he hear anything here? 00:22:17 Speaker 4: And I mean it's not catching on, but there are pockets of it trying it should catch on. It gets a little louder and louder each game. 00:22:23 Speaker 3: You did it. I don't understand why. Here's what I this is kind of the problem of Rupperina because when we were in Fort Collins, Colorado, we were at a restaurant. I wasn't even the one that started it. Someone else did and everyone did it, all fifty people. But it's like it rup there are just people who are like I refuse to have any fun. Do not make me have fun. I paid these tickets and I intentionally paid to not have fun, and so you're not gonna make me do it, And that annoys me a little bit. Got the little opera binoculars. Yeah, they're wearing the mister Peanut hat and They're like, you know what this is. This is not for excitement, and I don't enjoy that. 00:23:05 Speaker 1: Those famous pictures where some of the little ladies were crocheted during the game and that stuff. 00:23:11 Speaker 3: By the way, somebody just sent me a picture though, when that guy was standing up and cheering. If you look at the picture, one of the people side eyeing him the worst is one of my best friends. It is, so he's got I'm gonna have to yell at him. He's the guy giving him the worst side eye is literally one of my best friends, and I'm gonna have to have a conversation with him. Is he becoming an old man the culprit? He may be the culprit. We'll take a break. Be right back here at KSR ks bar's Kentucky Sports Radio. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ. 00:23:46 Speaker 2: He'll make them pay now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones. 00:23:52 Speaker 3: This might be my this might be my favorite snoop. So this one is yeah, it's a little, a little under the radar, and it's Harold Melvin without the blue notes. That's what they say. You do you know this song. 00:24:02 Speaker 1: I know this song, but I don't know who the blue notes are. 00:24:05 Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't either. I just know it from this from this song. That's the only one that I know. Eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. I want to play you something really quick last night. Sometimes you forget when you're a Kentucky fan how cool it is for people to play against Kentucky, especially these small teams. Colegate had a player named Parker Jones, right, Parker Jones. He was one of the guys with like hair everywhere, like he kind of had curly hair and it was flopping, and he made some shots and he after the game, he was the Colgate player in the press conference. And I think it's cool to listen, because we get so wrapped up in the Kentucky basketball thing, to listen what it's like for a dude that plays at Colegate to get to play in rupp Arena. I thought this was a really cool, really cool set of comments he made when he came in go ahead and play it check. 00:24:57 Speaker 7: First of all, this is pretty sick. I've never been in a press con, so this is like just kind of high level for me. So I'm sorry if my answer isn't top level, but uh, coming back in from halftime, I think we were all super extatic. Like I mean, when you play it seemed like Kentucky you kind of at least personally, I dreamed of it in like my backyard, like thinking about like Parker Jones subs in and he hits a three and then he comes down like all this stuff that I think about in my head, and I don't know, like being in this environment was really cool and just kind of surreal, and. 00:25:25 Speaker 3: That's really neat. I love that. I mean, he says he's he starts it back going. I've never been in a press conference before, Like I just see. I really like when people get to have moments. 00:25:36 Speaker 1: Like that, And that's what's really cool when these teams come in and that's why I love it when they played Georgetown or Kentucky Weston or Transylvania. To give these kids that moment a plan in a big time arena, in a big time atmosphere, I love it. 00:25:49 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:25:49 Speaker 4: I was filling it for all of them earlier in the game, but once they went up by to any good will I had for kind of went out the window pretty quickly. 00:25:55 Speaker 3: Y'all, stopped making shots. But no, that is cool. 00:25:58 Speaker 1: Here another Uh yeah, that hit a couple of big shots. 00:26:01 Speaker 3: He hit two of the biggest ones, a couple of them with somebody in his face before I go back to phones. Hey, remember Friday night, Shannon the Dude wrestles in Georgetown at Country Boy and then Saturday, uh is our big pay per view show in Louisville. Try to come to one of them Saturday's right after the UK Louisville game is over. Friday night here country Boy, I'll be out there rooting Shannon on as he gets in the ring with his little tidy whities and gets beat up. 00:26:28 Speaker 1: Who am I rustling? 00:26:29 Speaker 3: By the way, it doesn't matter. 00:26:31 Speaker 1: I'll beat him up regardless. 00:26:32 Speaker 3: You'll beat them anybody in there. But it's the return of mister spectacular. Oh cash flow certified, like they're all gonna be. The names are there, and for my purposes, we have an investor coming into town from Britain that so I hope it goes really well. Shannon. If you embarrass me and uh, then I'm I'm on you, you're gonna have to answer to me. 00:26:54 Speaker 2: I'm gonna make sure I tell them all about you. 00:26:56 Speaker 3: All details a lot, a lot to say, He's next, Jason, Jason, go ahead, Jason. 00:27:03 Speaker 8: Hey, Matt, thanks for taking my call. I just have a comment and a question in regards to the Louisville Football Series. Basically, this is a mind boggling fact in my opinion, if you go back to ninety four when the series got renewed, the home the home team is only eleven and nineteen right the first how so the. 00:27:27 Speaker 3: Road the team. The road team has beaten the home more one more than the home team in the uku L series. I didn't realize that in. 00:27:34 Speaker 8: Football, nineteen out of thirty times. Yeah, the first four were in Lexington if you remember before before their new stadium open. Okay, but uh, Kentucky's. Kentucky's won eight out of thirteen in Louisville, but only six out of seventeen in Lexington. So maybe that offers a little hope for next year. But my question was about the series going forward and about all the talk that it might end. And I just wondered if you thought, maybe could they do that on a by early basis, do it once every teakon? 00:28:02 Speaker 3: No, I mean they could they could so here and I appreciate the call. Here are the problems for the UKU of L series. First of all, as long as as our season stays eight SEC games, we'll keep playing Louisville in football. I think that's fairly clear. I think there was a big movement to go to nine, but I actually think Alabama not making the playoff has now made people back off from going to nine. Alabama was one of the teams I believe that was the biggest against going and I think this will make it only bigger. So I think Alabama not making the playoff probably helps the Louisville series. Here's the other problem, though. I think there's a really good chance they're going to create an alliance with the Big ten in the SEC, where they play each other every year. They basically pair the teams off. I think if we play an eight game SEC schedule, they could do that, and then we might still play Louisville. If, however, they do that and we have a nine game schedule, Louisvell's gone. I mean, that's just Louisll's gone at that point, so that's the thing to watch. I think an eight game schedule with a Big ten game, we might still play Louisville. But if it goes to nine, and especially nine with a big ten game, the Louisville series is done. 00:29:25 Speaker 4: Yeah, at anytime Mitch Barnhard or Mark Steups have been asked about it, which isn't often and hadn't even been that recent, but you can just tell by their tone that they feel like it should go away if SEC goes to a nine team schedule. That's just the way they've ever talked about it. You can kind of feel like they think it'll go away. The Alabama thing's interesting because right now everybody's talking about how the strength of schedule doesn't seem to matter anymore. But I'm still in my back of my head cherishing these last few Governor's Cups. I feel like it's on. 00:29:52 Speaker 3: I feel like it's on life support. I think the you know, I just don't see them wanting to make the schedule significantly harder, and I just don't think it's gonna happen. I mean, you see what happens this year. If you add they don't play Louisville and they play somebody else, they might have had five wins and they think that looks better. I just I think it's probably probably gonna go away. 00:30:16 Speaker 1: I'm sure I'm like most fans, I would hate it that they would lose that series, but I completely understand it. I mean, I get it why they would probably have to eliminate it to if the schedule gets expanded like that. 00:30:25 Speaker 3: For my purposes. By the way, just for the record, I'm pro playing Louisville no matter what. I don't think this is a team that's ever going to consistently challenge for the playoff. We need to play games that fans care about. I think you play Louisville people care about. I mean, look at this year. Our team was a disaster, and we still went into that Louisville game with a wanting to win, with a good crowd. If we were playing you know, morehead that game, nobody's there, Drew. So I'm still pro playing Louisville, but I think it's it's likely. Yeah, I'm in the same boat. It's where it is at the end of the year, as we saw a season ago or even this season. It can just change the way you look at things. 00:31:08 Speaker 4: Last year it definitely did, and we love having the bragging rights and been at the end of the year, you get those bragging rights until you play again. 00:31:14 Speaker 3: Let me read you this question from the text machine. Matt, you're complaining about the rough crowd. Why don't you rank Kentucky crowds, hold away, neutral, etc. Great question, Best Kentucky crowds by far, SEC tournament by far, by far, not even SEC tournament, the best, Second best SEC road game where we take over the stadium for whatever reason. When you get a South Carolina or Georgia and we get a huge block in there and then we win that second best, third best neutral site where our fans can drive Atlanta, Indianapolis, Chicago. I think then you get a great one, fourth best, something like we had last Saturday, neutral site far away, so that fans who live but don't get to come to a lot of games they go worst Reperena. I mean the problem is Ropperena is the worst UK fan environment. I mean does anybody disagree with that? 00:32:27 Speaker 1: Well, for a big game, I feel like Rupperena can be the best arena in the country. 00:32:32 Speaker 3: I think a gig gamment rough is better than the SEC tournament. 00:32:36 Speaker 1: No, but like when the the North Carolina game when Anthony Day was blocked the shot, you know, for a big game, when Florida came in number one. 00:32:43 Speaker 4: Yeah, the Tennessee game the last several years since they've been good. 00:32:48 Speaker 3: Like Alabama last year when we beat them by thirty. 00:32:52 Speaker 1: So for a big game, I think Rupperena is up there. 00:32:55 Speaker 3: But like for a game. 00:32:57 Speaker 1: In November on a Tuesday night like sometime now. We'll say this though. The crowds this year though, have been better than the thing. 00:33:05 Speaker 3: It'll be like like say Saturday against Louisville. That's a game, it's weird. That's a game where if that was on, if that was in Nashville, I think we'd be insane. Will it be insane? 00:33:17 Speaker 4: And rup I still think it'll be insane. I mean, you have your regulars that have been going against for fifty years that just they don't have the as much energy and passion as the guy who's been twice and has been drinking all day. 00:33:28 Speaker 3: That's why it's not a fair fight. 00:33:29 Speaker 4: Very Reperena to Nashville at the SEC tournament because it's a lot of people that don't go often. 00:33:34 Speaker 3: A lot of them are hammered. It's a losing, go home situation. 00:33:37 Speaker 4: You just go in there with so much enthusiasm you don't know if it's the last game of your weekend. 00:33:42 Speaker 3: That that one's tough to talk. But I also think, like you were talking about that Georgia State game the day after Thanksgiving, I think the reason that crowd is so good is it's people who don't normally go, like they're home for Thanksgiving. They get given the tickets or whatever, and you get a different set of people in there. I do think part this is not I'm not trying to criticize the people that go. They pay a lot of money and they deserve to have fun. But I think you get used to it and you sometimes don't appreciate how special it is to other people. I saw that with Mario the first time he had press credentials. He'd never had them, and things I took for granted. He's like, whoa, And it makes you appreciate, well, you know, I shouldn't take this for granted. I think sometimes that happens with the home fans. It's just natural. 00:34:23 Speaker 1: I totally agree with you, and I've I already heard there's a big group of former players that are trying to get tickets to the game Saturday, you know, like they want to they know what this rivalry is all about. They want to come just be a part of it. You know, I got my I got another. 00:34:37 Speaker 3: One of these lessons. 00:34:38 Speaker 4: Speakeasies. 00:34:38 Speaker 3: Yeah, this was when you were hanging in one of the speakeasies, one of the dungeons. 00:34:44 Speaker 4: Yeah, you're right that it is no one's fault. But as someone who goes to every game, even I get it. Okay, we're doing our brothers Hunk Cam. We're singing doomas Walker. It's just a lot of when you go every single nights. Not a lot of surprise Walker, just. 00:34:58 Speaker 3: Something else you. I love the song, but like most like our students, weren't even born when the song came out. You know, I I get it. I went to the to eat the sandwich right. 00:35:13 Speaker 1: Yes she is slaw Burger, But I don't know, Joe. 00:35:18 Speaker 3: Some of those that one should have been retired long time ago. It has been. 00:35:23 Speaker 4: Although they won't show good, I'm actually going good with I need to show them on the screen. 00:35:27 Speaker 3: It's year end savings at Don Franklin. Who you got? 00:36:58 Speaker 4: I like the Rams cover that lost like three or four. Rams just beat Buffalo might be a little of a hangover, but I think they'll cover the three whether they win. 00:37:06 Speaker 1: Or lose forty nine or just you know. They their snake bit this year. Man the injuries and they can't they lose close games. So yeah, I'm going with the Rams to cover. 00:37:14 Speaker 3: Rams are my sneaky, sneaky, sneaky Super Bowl pick. Yeah, you gotta be pick. We gotta be really sneaky because it's it's unlikely. But but if you were gonna do like some crazy pick, they would be mine. So I'm gonna take the Ram, your sneaky pick, be my be my sneaky pick. By the way, the Golden Globe nominations came out, I am almost I was sitting there looking at him. I am certain you have seen no not one of the shows that is on the list, and I would venture to say, you haven't even heard of most of them. We'll go to comedy or musical Honora. No Challengers, no Amelia Perez, No A Real Pain, No the Substance, No Wicked. 00:38:27 Speaker 1: I've heard of it, but no I'm not. I'm not heard of the other one. Not even heard of them. 00:38:30 Speaker 3: You didn't hear of Challengers. It's about the tennis players and it has in Zenda send YadA. No, I haven't heard that. I saw a real Pain. That's good. It's got the uh the dude from from Succession, the Culkin kid. Oh, okay, he's good. And what's his name on Succession? You got Kendall? Uh Karen. 00:38:54 Speaker 4: Yeah, but what's his name on the show? You got Kendalls Shivno, almost said Norman, but that's. 00:38:59 Speaker 3: Not nice job. What is his name? Roman? There you go, Roman, and then let me pull up. I want to get you the TV shows. 00:39:07 Speaker 1: You and I are O for two. It is weird that you had nominated Squid Game season two when it's not even out yet. 00:39:53 Speaker 2: Based off of the first season. 00:39:55 Speaker 3: I guess they think it'll be good. Who's up next? Dennis go ahead, Dennis, Hey. 00:40:00 Speaker 6: Guess how were we doing doing good? Hypothetical question here. Yes, Mark Steeves hadn't went through five coordinators five years, which Liam Cohen is a big part of that happening. 00:40:16 Speaker 3: Yes. 00:40:17 Speaker 6: Do you think Bush Hampden would have been let go this year? And if he had a ben do you think you'd have went after Neil Brown? 00:40:25 Speaker 1: No? 00:40:25 Speaker 3: And no, I don't think he would have been let out because I think Mark really believes in Bush Hampden. He thinks the problem was the offensive line and not Bush, and he didn't think there was a lot Bush could do. So No, I don't think you would have let him go. I also don't think he would have hired Neil Brown. I think he likes Neil Brown, but those are two very strong personalities, and I would have been surprised if he hired Neil Brown. I don't think there's any ill will there. I just think I would have been surprised if that happened again. I think you know, he brought Liam back twice, kind of worked, kind of didn't, and I think he would have been hesitoned to do that again. 00:41:06 Speaker 6: All Right, one last thing I'll get off here. I'm like you Matt. I hate it when people do nicknames that don't come naturally. For example, the Unforgettables of nineteen ninety two. I mean, that's they tried to nickname that basketball team when when you had like Roughs runs in the field five that came naturally. And every time I hear you, every time I hear somebody say that the unforgettable. But I'm like, that's just it did not come natural. It's it's a stupid nickname. And so that's my thing. 00:41:37 Speaker 3: He's a hot take. You should have saved that for the summer. I appreciate the call. You should have saved that for unpopular opinion. Day doesn't like the name unforgettable. An unforgettable text to me two minutes ago. He's not gonna like to He's not gonna like that. What about the marksman for this? Okay, you gotta stop. You gotta stop all these mark puns. Who's next, Chase Chase? How are you Chase. 00:41:58 Speaker 6: Doing great? 00:41:58 Speaker 8: How are you good? 00:41:59 Speaker 3: Got thirty seconds? 00:42:02 Speaker 6: Okay? Uh? 00:42:03 Speaker 3: Sticking with the nickname trend, I think it's important that we do name this team. 00:42:07 Speaker 5: It's it's gonna be a historic team no matter what windlodser Draw, it's Mark Pope's first year. 00:42:13 Speaker 6: I vote Island of Misfit toys. 00:42:15 Speaker 3: Okay, see again, I appreciate it called stop the box, and we're not We're not called the Island of misfit toys. That's not even nice, Like that would be a mean thing to call them the island of misfit toys, like I don't think they want to be called misfit toys. That's not even like, it's not even nice, right. I think we need to do this segment even more. Call you like the fighting hair plugs like, we can't. 00:42:43 Speaker 1: We can't do that Island of misfit toys. 00:42:46 Speaker 3: And of course the fact you like it makes me even less likely for it to want to be there. 00:42:51 Speaker 4: Drew too, the Marksman remarkable, it's pretty good, yep. I think we just need to pick me one of those two and call it. 00:42:57 Speaker 3: What is wrong with you? All right? Tomorrow beer no in Southern Indiana and New Albany come see us. Get there early for a seat. It tends to get crowded. Always something fun that happens there. We're gonna beat the well almost cut out of the cards on Saturday, and we got to get prepared.
