The Man on the Moon
What if your child's night terrors were more than just nightmares? In 2013, a mother’s quiet life turned into a series of chilling encounters that would leave her questioning everything. Shadowy figures watching over her son to a sinister "man on the moon" urging him to do unspeakable things. <v Speaker 1>Imagine hearing your child describe a man on the moon <v Speaker 1>an eerie figure visiting him at night. What starts as <v Speaker 1>harmless night terrors spirals into eerie lullabies and Chilean encounters. <v Speaker 1>My name is Edwin and here is Ebony. It's true <v Speaker 1>scary story. <v Speaker 2>My story takes place starting in twenty thirteen. We've been <v Speaker 2>in this apartment for less than a year. My son <v Speaker 2>was five years old. He's sixteen now. It always seemed <v Speaker 2>like he would have nights errors. He would start crying <v Speaker 2>in his sleep, making weird noises. We would just hear <v Speaker 2>him whimpering. We really didn't know what was going on. <v Speaker 2>It started getting a little bit more intense. He started <v Speaker 2>screaming and yelling. This would always happen between eleven thirty <v Speaker 2>and twelve o'clock, when I would be getting ready to <v Speaker 2>go to bed. <v Speaker 3>We would go in the room. <v Speaker 2>His body would be straight, it looked like somebody pulled <v Speaker 2>his legs. His feet would go flat, and his hands <v Speaker 2>would be to his side, but he was still sleeping <v Speaker 2>and he would be screaming. The screaming would last for <v Speaker 2>about five minutes. And we lived in an apartment building complex, <v Speaker 2>so I always thought that people would think that we <v Speaker 2>were doing something to my son when he was screaming. <v Speaker 2>After that, he would always yawn and turn right back <v Speaker 2>around and sleep peacefully for the rest of the night. <v Speaker 3>We were dealing with this for about two months. <v Speaker 2>His doctor told me that it was probably him getting <v Speaker 2>into his rim sleep stage, and that we should let <v Speaker 2>him rest and not look at TV or anything for <v Speaker 2>at least thirty to forty five minutes before bed so <v Speaker 2>that he can settle down. <v Speaker 3>Then it just never stopped. <v Speaker 2>One night, I was walking past his room. It was <v Speaker 2>completely dark in there. He had a little nightlight that <v Speaker 2>was behind his dresser, so it kind of illuminated the walls. <v Speaker 2>It wasn't enough to be super bright. When I was <v Speaker 2>walking towards the room, because I heard him whining, I <v Speaker 2>saw some figure standing over by his bed. <v Speaker 3>In a panic, I turned on the lights, but it <v Speaker 3>was nothing bare. <v Speaker 2>I definitely saw a figure standing next to his bed <v Speaker 2>while he was starting the whining stage. Time has gone by. <v Speaker 2>Now I'm in my room and I hear like lullaby music. <v Speaker 2>Like I said, I lived in an apartment complex, so <v Speaker 2>I thought maybe it was coming from the other apartment. <v Speaker 3>I turned the TV down and when I. <v Speaker 2>Was starting to walk towards his room, I saw a <v Speaker 2>dark figure from the side of his bed over to <v Speaker 2>the dresser. <v Speaker 3>The lullaby music stopped. <v Speaker 2>Now I knew that I wasn't seeing things this time, <v Speaker 2>so I just went in there. <v Speaker 3>I snatched him out of his. <v Speaker 2>Room, and I went back in my room, and we <v Speaker 2>waited for my husband to come home. Because it was <v Speaker 2>just me and my son in the house. We were <v Speaker 2>in the living room one day watching TV. I heard <v Speaker 2>the toilet seat slammed down. No one else was in <v Speaker 2>the house, we were all in the front I went <v Speaker 2>back over to the bathroom and said, oh, maybe the <v Speaker 2>toilet seat just fell. When I went back there, the <v Speaker 2>toilet seat was actually still up. <v Speaker 3>It never fell down. <v Speaker 2>But you can hear the noise that it slammed shut. <v Speaker 2>So now I just started being freaked out in my house. <v Speaker 2>I didn't want to say anything to my family. The <v Speaker 2>only person that I knew about it was my husband <v Speaker 2>at the time, and then we had a cat, so <v Speaker 2>I kind of kept saying that, oh, maybe the cat <v Speaker 2>went by and I saw the shadow of the cat, <v Speaker 2>or that maybe he was in the bathroom and he <v Speaker 2>hit the toilet seat. So I kept trying to make <v Speaker 2>sense of him myself. It wasn't until one evening everybody <v Speaker 2>was in their rooms. <v Speaker 3>I went to go take a bath. <v Speaker 2>I was in the bathtub, I decided to lay back relax. <v Speaker 2>I put my cloth over my face and I was <v Speaker 2>just laying there. Sounded as though someone opened the bathroom door. <v Speaker 2>I took it off, thinking it was my husband, order <v Speaker 2>and my son come in, but there was no one there. <v Speaker 2>I closed my eyes and just laid back out of nowhere. <v Speaker 2>It felt like someone snacky in my face. I felt <v Speaker 2>a handprint, the burning sensation. <v Speaker 3>I jumped up out. <v Speaker 2>Of the bathroom, ran out of there and went to <v Speaker 2>go to my husband, and I was like, okay, that's it. <v Speaker 2>At that time, my son started screaming and had another <v Speaker 2>night terror. <v Speaker 3>While I'm panicking trying to talk. <v Speaker 2>To my husband, he starts screaming and we had to <v Speaker 2>rush into his room. <v Speaker 3>And it was just one of his regular or. <v Speaker 2>Screaming night terrors, but this one got a little bit <v Speaker 2>more intense. It lasted way longer, and I thought he <v Speaker 2>was actually going into a seizure. So we called nine <v Speaker 2>one one and have them come out. By the time <v Speaker 2>they got there, of course, my son as fast asleep, <v Speaker 2>and then they had to wake him up to make <v Speaker 2>sure he was okay. He's just looking at us like, <v Speaker 2>why are you waking me up? <v Speaker 3>What's going on? <v Speaker 2>They left, they cleared him, everything was fine. It was <v Speaker 2>a few days later after that I decided to ask <v Speaker 2>my son, do you remember any of these dreams. <v Speaker 3>That you're having at night? <v Speaker 2>Why you're screaming or anything? And he said no, he <v Speaker 2>doesn't remember any nightmares or he wasn't scared when he <v Speaker 2>went to sleep where he didn't think of anything scary. <v Speaker 2>I will never forget those words that came. <v Speaker 3>Out of my five year old mouth. <v Speaker 2>He just came out and said, oh, I talked to <v Speaker 2>the man on the moon. I talked to him sometimes <v Speaker 2>when I go to bed. I asked him who is <v Speaker 2>the man on the moon, And he said he tells <v Speaker 2>me to do bad things? But I don't want to, <v Speaker 2>and I'm always yelling at him to leave me alone. <v Speaker 2>Sometimes when he gets mad, he sets everything on fire <v Speaker 2>and he scratches me with a fork on my thumb. <v Speaker 2>I ask him, what does the man on the moon <v Speaker 2>look like? What is he doing? And he said, oh, <v Speaker 2>he's very big, he's very red. He has a big fork, <v Speaker 2>and he kept saying he scratches my thumb with it <v Speaker 2>when I tell him no. I said, well, does he <v Speaker 2>ever grab you. <v Speaker 3>Or catch you or anything? And he said no. <v Speaker 2>If I say no, he just stagged me with the fork. <v Speaker 2>The next day, I told my mom, I saided, telling <v Speaker 2>her everything that. <v Speaker 3>Was going on. <v Speaker 2>My mom always believes in the Bible, and she believes <v Speaker 2>that there are spirits and that there are angels and <v Speaker 2>demons walking around, so that's why I was happy that <v Speaker 2>I was able to talk to her. We went to <v Speaker 2>church that soun day and we talked to my priest. <v Speaker 3>And I explained to him night terrors. I told the doctor. <v Speaker 2>They kept saying that children have active imaginations, but I <v Speaker 2>just felt that it was something else going on because <v Speaker 2>of all the other things that was happening around. <v Speaker 3>The priest. <v Speaker 2>He said that my son had a bright aurror around him, <v Speaker 2>like he's very protected, and maybe that's why the dreams <v Speaker 2>come and is trying to break that aura, but it <v Speaker 2>can't get through. <v Speaker 3>So he gave us holy water. <v Speaker 2>He gave us Bible verses that we should recite before <v Speaker 2>he goes to bed when he's saying his prayers. He <v Speaker 2>told us to leave the Bible open on a certain <v Speaker 2>page so we could have that verse after we say it. <v Speaker 2>I was supposed to cross him with holy water, and <v Speaker 2>then we will put a rosary that gave us under <v Speaker 2>his pillow. Now my son is still five, so he <v Speaker 2>was really excited about putting the rosary under his pillow. <v Speaker 3>He wants to go to bed and say prayers. <v Speaker 2>The next day, I came into his room and the <v Speaker 2>pages were turned on the Bible. I asked, my husband, <v Speaker 2>did you touch the Bible? <v Speaker 3>Did you change it? He said no. <v Speaker 2>Then, while I was making up his bed, I went <v Speaker 2>to a look for his rosary. I couldn't find the rosary. <v Speaker 2>I asked him, did he take the rosary out at night? <v Speaker 2>What did he wake up? Was he scared or anything? <v Speaker 2>He said no. I was looking all the way, all <v Speaker 2>over the floor, and then I found the rosary under <v Speaker 2>his bed, behind the headboard, not where he can push it. <v Speaker 2>Because he had a toll so there was no gaps <v Speaker 2>where it would just fall through. Someone had to physically <v Speaker 2>take that rosary and put it under the bed for <v Speaker 2>it to be there. I started panicking about that. I <v Speaker 2>told my mom what was going on again. She said, well, <v Speaker 2>you know just continue to keep doing it. Every night, <v Speaker 2>we would read the Bible verse. <v Speaker 3>We would do the Holy Water. <v Speaker 2>A month after that, the night terrace completely stopped. I <v Speaker 2>ended up having another baby. We decided it was time <v Speaker 2>to move. I started freaking out because the place that <v Speaker 2>we were moving to is kind of behind the cemetery. <v Speaker 2>There's a house in between us and the cemetery. All <v Speaker 2>of those memories started coming back. We ended up on <v Speaker 2>December of two thouy fifteen. My second son was born. <v Speaker 2>January eleventh, we were in our new apartment. I started <v Speaker 2>having these strange noises in my house. <v Speaker 3>One night, I'm in. <v Speaker 2>My room and I heard the same lullaby song that <v Speaker 2>I heard those many years ago, and I turned down <v Speaker 2>a TV and I thought, I must be losing my mind. <v Speaker 2>I'm PARANOI. I went towards the room again. I saw <v Speaker 2>a black figure start from his crib and the noise stopped. <v Speaker 2>I'm thinking, now, the cemetery behind me, the past, everything <v Speaker 2>is coming back into play. I started telling my husband, <v Speaker 2>I need to go back to the priest. I need <v Speaker 2>to tell him what's going on. Maybe a week after that, <v Speaker 2>I'm laying in my room and I could not get <v Speaker 2>to sleep because it felt like someone was staring at me. <v Speaker 3>From my hallway. <v Speaker 2>I was turning around and I opened my eyes and <v Speaker 2>next to my dresser, I saw that black figure that <v Speaker 2>I've seen multiple times. This time it did not vanish. <v Speaker 2>I was staring at it while I was trying to <v Speaker 2>move and tap my husband and let him know that <v Speaker 2>something's there. <v Speaker 3>It flew towards me. The only thing that I. <v Speaker 2>Could do at that moment was flip over my husband <v Speaker 2>because it lunched towards me so fast, I. <v Speaker 3>Didn't know what else to do. <v Speaker 2>I ended up flipping over my husband and fell off <v Speaker 2>from the other side of the bed. When he woke <v Speaker 2>up and then was asking me what was wrong. I <v Speaker 2>explained to him what was going on. That black figure <v Speaker 2>that I keep seeing randomly. It's back and it's trying <v Speaker 2>to attack me. I was terrified. I said I was <v Speaker 2>going to go back to the priest, let him know <v Speaker 2>that this is happening all over again. We did the <v Speaker 2>same thing. I had to take the baby to him. <v Speaker 2>They got him baptized, and after that. <v Speaker 3>That was it. Nothing else again. So I don't know if. <v Speaker 2>That black figure was trying to soothe the children or <v Speaker 2>if it was something else, but I know it was <v Speaker 2>the same figure that I saw when my son was <v Speaker 2>my first song was five, and then again when my <v Speaker 2>second song was born, and that's what lunch toward me. <v Speaker 2>So I'm not sure if she was angry with me <v Speaker 2>or if someone who just wanted to be by children, <v Speaker 2>but I would feel this presence in my home, as <v Speaker 2>if someone was always watching me. But I never saw <v Speaker 2>the figure again after we went back and blessed the <v Speaker 2>house got Holy worded for here. Luckily, things have been <v Speaker 2>much better. I did have another baby since, and those <v Speaker 2>things I've always crossed my mind. <v Speaker 3>So my new baby is two. <v Speaker 2>But I've yet to see the black figure or hear <v Speaker 2>any weird lullaby songs or feel. <v Speaker 3>As though someone's watching me. <v Speaker 2>It was only with my two sons. I don't know <v Speaker 2>if it's different because now. <v Speaker 3>I have a daughter. <v Speaker 2>But whenever I think about what happened to my older son, <v Speaker 2>who now sixteen, it just gives me the chills and <v Speaker 2>I will never forget what he told me when he <v Speaker 2>was five years old. <v Speaker 3>I talked to the man. <v Speaker 1>To share your own story with our community, visit as <v Speaker 1>at true scarystory dot com and if you want to <v Speaker 1>support what we do.
