<v Speaker 3>and I hope everybody had a happy, fun new Year,
<v Speaker 3>or maybe you just slept through it and you don't
<v Speaker 3>really care, and whatever the case is, I hope you
<v Speaker 3>enjoyed it. And we've got a lot to cover today.
<v Speaker 3>Actually we don't have a ton. We have a few emails,
<v Speaker 3>a little bit light on the emails and voicemails today
<v Speaker 3>just because New Year people are resetting, and I have
<v Speaker 3>to say, I don't know what the hell day it is.
<v Speaker 3>I have no idea between what would like once the
<v Speaker 3>Christmas week hits, my brain stops functioning until after the
<v Speaker 3>New Year, like a week after the New Year, sometime
<v Speaker 3>in mid January, I start to re get my routine back.
<v Speaker 3>I don't know what day or time it is I
<v Speaker 3>wake up, because you have like a weird day off
<v Speaker 3>in the middle of the week. Christmas and New Year's
<v Speaker 3>fell on a Wednesday. I have no idea anymore, so
<v Speaker 3>rumor has it that today's Friday, but I could be wrong.
<v Speaker 3>So anyway, hope your brain is on a little bit
<v Speaker 3>straighter than mine, and we're going to get to those
<v Speaker 3>emails and voicemails for the few we have here on
<v Speaker 3>the show, and we'll be doing more YouTube videos in

<v Speaker 3>twenty twenty four Best Wrestler. Cody Rhodes. Obviously I got
<v Speaker 3>to actually watch him live finish his story, and it's
<v Speaker 3>a moment I'll never forget. Besides that, I think he
<v Speaker 3>had a hell of a year few with the rock
<v Speaker 3>aj styles and of course Kevin Owens. Hopefully twenty twenty
<v Speaker 3>five will be his hill year. I can't yeah again.
<v Speaker 3>You guys know I'm no fan of Cody, but in
<v Speaker 3>ring he is very good, no doubt about it. He is,
<v Speaker 3>I mean, fundamentally sound doesn't even begin to describe it.
<v Speaker 3>He's fluid. He makes it look easy. He's Randy Orton esque,
<v Speaker 3>which makes it so appealing to think about when those
<v Speaker 3>two finally clash and when Randy finally turns on him,
<v Speaker 3>which again I think could be WrestleMania, but we'll see.
<v Speaker 3>But I can't disagree with you given the fact that
<v Speaker 3>the company put their entire weight of the future on
<v Speaker 3>his shoulders at WrestleMania forty and anointing him as the
<v Speaker 3>face of the company. Is the face of the new era.
<v Speaker 3>You talk about pressure, you talk about responsibility. That's a
<v Speaker 3>hell of an accolade to put a new resume. And
<v Speaker 3>his title run, yeah, has been boring. I mean, I
<v Speaker 3>know you didn't say that, but I did. His title
<v Speaker 3>run has not been very fun, even if you're a
<v Speaker 3>Cody fan, and then I'm trying to put myself in
<v Speaker 3>those shoes. Sometimes I don't see how this has been
<v Speaker 3>a particularly exciting title run since April. Not to say
<v Speaker 3>he hasn't had good matches, but the programs have been
<v Speaker 3>kind of I don't know, dull or formulaic. Again, for
<v Speaker 3>the first few months, it felt like he was just
<v Speaker 3>coming over to Raw and SmackDown SmackDown and Raw, cutting
<v Speaker 3>promos and being interrupted but no real program. Yeah, it's
<v Speaker 3>been I don't know, subpar. However, I can't disagree with
<v Speaker 3>you and the company certainly wouldn't either, given how much
<v Speaker 3>of a confidence they've put behind Cody and put in
<v Speaker 3>themselves that Cody's the guy, all right, the best woman wrestler.
<v Speaker 3>I wanted to give it to Rhea, but she was
<v Speaker 3>injured for a long time and I can't say this
<v Speaker 3>was her year unlike last year. I sure as hell
<v Speaker 3>won't give it to Live Morgan, a champion that simply
<v Speaker 3>can't win by her own or on her own. One
<v Speaker 3>victory over Eyo Sky is not enough. I give it
<v Speaker 3>to Naya Jacks. She's been a dominant champion, Queen of
<v Speaker 3>the Ring finalist, she turned Tiffy into a little puddle,
<v Speaker 3>and she is basically awesome. Well, once again, I can't disagree,
<v Speaker 3>and not many people look at Naya as really the
<v Speaker 3>face of the women's division, and really for the reason
<v Speaker 3>of Rhea and Live have dominated the women's division even
<v Speaker 3>though they're on a separate brand for the last several months.
<v Speaker 3>I mean really since SummerSlam, because of the whole dom story,
<v Speaker 3>it was well told. Yes, we're beyond its shelf life
<v Speaker 3>now I think we're all ready for Living Ria to end,
<v Speaker 3>and I think it will on Monday night. And we
<v Speaker 3>have had on the secondary story. On a secondary we
<v Speaker 3>have had Nijack's feuding with various women on the SmackDown
<v Speaker 3>side of things, but I think she's done a nice job.
<v Speaker 3>I was advocating for the women's championship because her first
<v Speaker 3>run was forgettable. I actually forgot she was Women's champion
<v Speaker 3>before she actually won it for the second time. This
<v Speaker 3>run was more memorable. Her second run in WWE has
<v Speaker 3>been more than you could ever ask or think it
<v Speaker 3>could be coming from where she was. The reputation that
<v Speaker 3>she had with fans of being dangerous in the ring,
<v Speaker 3>and I'm sure to some extent backstage she had that reputation.
<v Speaker 3>Not all injuries that she was in the ring for
<v Speaker 3>were her fault, but she was blamed for them nonetheless,
<v Speaker 3>So she gained that reputation and fans somewhat dismissed her.
<v Speaker 3>And then she came back and really found herself, really
<v Speaker 3>found who and what she is, and it took some time,
<v Speaker 3>but she's here and I think she could even ascend
<v Speaker 3>higher than where she is now. And that's to say that, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>she's a champion right now on SmackDown. She's the WWE
<v Speaker 3>Women's Champion. But just because you're a top champion doesn't
<v Speaker 3>make you the top guy or girl in the company,
<v Speaker 3>because what are fans talking about, what's social media talking about?
<v Speaker 3>How are the crowds actually reacting when you're there? So
<v Speaker 3>I think Naya has even more in her to really
<v Speaker 3>be the focal point of the women's division. We'll see
<v Speaker 3>what twenty twenty five brings. I think Tiffany Stratton is
<v Speaker 3>slated to become champion. She's going to cash in. It
<v Speaker 3>may be at Mania, could be at the Rumble, it
<v Speaker 3>could be after WrestleMania, but we're waiting for that to collapse.
<v Speaker 3>And the chemistry and the teasing of Tiffany cashing in
<v Speaker 3>has been fun. But I still believe the women's and
<v Speaker 3>men's money in the bank briefcases should not be a
<v Speaker 3>requirement that the winner carry them around all the time.
<v Speaker 3>The reason is it just takes the fun out of
<v Speaker 3>it because then it's at the forefront of your mind.
<v Speaker 3>If you want part of the cash in to be
<v Speaker 3>a surprise, and sometimes the surprise cash in is fun.
<v Speaker 3>Look at Damian Priest at WrestleMania forty. You want it
<v Speaker 3>out of the minds of fans, which means take the physical,
<v Speaker 3>the symbolic part of the win off camera. Don't have
<v Speaker 3>them carry the damn briefcase unless they're going to cash in,
<v Speaker 3>to have them walk out in a promo like if
<v Speaker 3>they're the first one's out, or they're coming out when
<v Speaker 3>a champion is not down, or they're clearly not going
<v Speaker 3>to cash in and there's no scenario unfolding where they
<v Speaker 3>could cash in. They should not bring it out, but
<v Speaker 3>they do, and I don't know why. So let's continue
<v Speaker 3>Men's Match of the Year Cody Rhoades versus Roman Reigns
<v Speaker 3>at WrestleMania Night two. I mean, sure, the ending was predictable,
<v Speaker 3>but I'm the first one to say predictability is not
<v Speaker 3>a bad thing. Inherently, I think the ending was overbooked
<v Speaker 3>all though, I will also pat myself on the back
<v Speaker 3>that I nearly nailed every single return and how it
<v Speaker 3>would happen with the setups minus Stone Cold, who was
<v Speaker 3>slated to be there had it not been for money.
<v Speaker 3>They couldn't come to terms on it. The Undertaker slotted
<v Speaker 3>in for Stone Cold. I was ninety nine percent correct.
<v Speaker 3>But sure, if you like big returns and returns often
<v Speaker 3>for no reason, and legend returns to and be involved
<v Speaker 3>in a match that really they had no stake in, Like,
<v Speaker 3>what the hell's the Undertaker's beef with the Rock? What
<v Speaker 3>stake does he have to help Cody? I mean, both
<v Speaker 3>of them are nothing, right, both of them. The answer
<v Speaker 3>is he has no business. He has no business helping Cody.
<v Speaker 3>He has no business hurting the Rock or hurting Roman.
<v Speaker 3>I mean sure you could say, well by he's really
<v Speaker 3>hurting Roman, because you know Roman beat him at WrestleMania
<v Speaker 3>thirty three. Well, first of all, that was seven years ago,
<v Speaker 3>almost eight second. He attacked a Rock. He didn't attack
<v Speaker 3>Cody or I'm sorry, he didn't attack Roman. He attacked
<v Speaker 3>the Rock. So I just it was just a legend
<v Speaker 3>that was there that didn't need to be there. From
<v Speaker 3>a logical standpoint, again, Stonecold would have made at least
<v Speaker 3>a little more sense because you have Stone Cold in
<v Speaker 3>the Rock with a natural rivalry that has gone on forever.
<v Speaker 3>They have WrestleMania moments. The Rock and the Undertaker do
<v Speaker 3>not have a WrestleMania match or a moment together. So
<v Speaker 3>sorry to burst everyone's bubble on that. I know it
<v Speaker 3>was a cool moment, but it was a cool moment
<v Speaker 3>only in the only in the respect that it's the
<v Speaker 3>Undertaker in the main event of WrestleMania forty making an impact.
<v Speaker 3>But from a logical storytelling perspective, it makes no sense
<v Speaker 3>for him to be there at all for any reason.
<v Speaker 3>So yeah, sure, if you like a little bit of
<v Speaker 3>an overbooked main event for WrestleMania forty, fine. If you
<v Speaker 3>were just looking for Cody to win, fine, If you
<v Speaker 3>wanted Roman to finally drop the belt, which is the
<v Speaker 3>main for me, the main reason, and I was excited
<v Speaker 3>to see that match, than sure. The match quality I
<v Speaker 3>thought was very good. I could do without the forty
<v Speaker 3>seven different crossroads that need to be applied for Cody
<v Speaker 3>to end a match. That said, I mean, I can't
<v Speaker 3>argue with you if your criteria are It's WrestleMania forty,
<v Speaker 3>legends are coming out, Oh my god, I'll get all
<v Speaker 3>these surprise returns, and Cody finally finished the story. Well fine,
<v Speaker 3>Do I think it was the best wrestling match of
<v Speaker 3>all time? No, I don't, But I can't argue with
<v Speaker 3>you because it was a big match, but of course
<v Speaker 3>the best match or match of the year. There's nothing
<v Speaker 3>more subjective than if someone liked the match and someone
<v Speaker 3>didn't because everybody has different criteria of what makes a
<v Speaker 3>great match. Okay, women's match of the year for you,
<v Speaker 3>it's Riea Ripley versus Live Morgan at SummerSlam. Both of
<v Speaker 3>them really kicked ass in this match, and the final
<v Speaker 3>with Dom is the best turn of the year. He'll
<v Speaker 3>turn to the year. I'll leave it there because I
<v Speaker 3>don't know if you have time for more until next time,
<v Speaker 3>my friend, Well, thank you as always stay safe over there.
<v Speaker 3>It's always crazy and I can't argue with that either. Now,
<v Speaker 3>the turn by Dom, it it was the turn of
<v Speaker 3>the year. Is it unexpected? No, I think a lot
<v Speaker 3>of us saw that coming, and it's not a bad
<v Speaker 3>thing because the way they did it was well done.
<v Speaker 3>You had Dom turn on his former lover after she
<v Speaker 3>came back and was not happy with his accents while
<v Speaker 3>she was out and injured, and then he gets her
<v Speaker 3>back and then turns his back on her again and
<v Speaker 3>then kisses Live which apparently wasn't supposed to happen, or
<v Speaker 3>they just kind of been prompt to that moment, which
<v Speaker 3>makes it even kind of cooler if you believe that.
<v Speaker 3>So that was a lot of fun in Rhea's reaction
<v Speaker 3>sitting in the ring watching them kiss while she has
<v Speaker 3>just realized what has happened that Dom screwed her. That's
<v Speaker 3>it's been fun. Now has Rhia even been able to
<v Speaker 3>hit riptide on Dom yet? Has that happened? I know
<v Speaker 3>she's been able to get a few shots in, But
<v Speaker 3>the ultimate payoff that a lot of us have been
<v Speaker 3>waiting to see is Rhea hitting riptide on Dom. Right,
<v Speaker 3>that's the ultimate, Like, that's the moment you wanted from
<v Speaker 3>the second that he turned on Rihea and I don't
<v Speaker 3>have we got that yet. Well, I guess we still
<v Speaker 3>got Monday. Monday is still an opportunity for that to happen.
<v Speaker 3>But I can't argue with that. That was a very
<v Speaker 3>good match. Very good match, again all subjective stuff. I
<v Speaker 3>think that that program made the match even better. When
<v Speaker 3>you have a great story going into a match that
<v Speaker 3>is then well executed physically, it amplifies how you view
<v Speaker 3>the match, and I think that's what happened here too.
<v Speaker 3>And Live and Rhea I think have worked very well together.
<v Speaker 3>They've certainly had enough time in the ring with one
<v Speaker 3>and one another over the last year, so this has
<v Speaker 3>been a program that has been just been well done
<v Speaker 3>by all parties, and it's time for its conclusion that
<v Speaker 3>Dom continues to be great. His mustache, his mullet, everything
<v Speaker 3>what I would like from Dom. Same with Rhea. They
<v Speaker 3>need to win matches on their own, kind of like
<v Speaker 3>you said with Live, she can't win without help. That's
<v Speaker 3>a tried and true Heeled kind of characteristic. But I
<v Speaker 3>don't always need that. I don't always need the idea
<v Speaker 3>that heels need to cheat to win. It kind of
<v Speaker 3>lessens them as a champion too, especially if they're a
<v Speaker 3>champion that they need help, because then you have somebody
<v Speaker 3>that feels subpar holding a championship that you feel should
<v Speaker 3>be for the best of the best, not the people
<v Speaker 3>that are able to pull off winning matches, the best
<v Speaker 3>that are able to truly beat their opponents straight up,
<v Speaker 3>and heels can do that. It doesn't always need to
<v Speaker 3>be a heel that is always of the need of assistance.
<v Speaker 3>And sure Live is undersized. You can make the argument
<v Speaker 3>a little bit for her, and her promos have been
<v Speaker 3>very good and her characters just blossomed over the last
<v Speaker 3>twelve months. But I think for Dom especially, he doesn't
<v Speaker 3>have any physically imposing stature, But there can be times
<v Speaker 3>where he doesn't have to cheat to win, and that'll
<v Speaker 3>make people hate him even more, I think, because you
<v Speaker 3>expect him to have to cheat to win. All right,
<v Speaker 3>thank you, Shah, talk to DJ, he says. With Raw
<v Speaker 3>moving to Netflix and AW simulcasting their shows, and I
<v Speaker 3>think pay per views on HBO Max as of this
<v Speaker 3>past Wednesday, January first, it is safe to say that
<v Speaker 3>watching live sports on cable and purchasing a pay per
<v Speaker 3>view for forty nine to ninety nine is going to
<v Speaker 3>be a non existent for years to come. SmackDown is
<v Speaker 3>currently still on the USA network in the US, but internationally,
<v Speaker 3>WWE fans could watch Raw, SmackDown, and NXT with a
<v Speaker 3>Netflix account. To me, it seems that streaming live sports,
<v Speaker 3>whether it's NBA, NFL, NHL, MLBN of course, WWE, NAW
<v Speaker 3>is now a huge focal point for most of the
<v Speaker 3>popular streaming platforms to make more money and compete for
<v Speaker 3>new subscribers as the cord cutting movement continues. It's a
<v Speaker 3>hell of a analysis, I mean, a topic to dive
<v Speaker 3>into to analyze. Rather, the movement from court cable to
<v Speaker 3>streaming started slow initially across the board. People were kind
<v Speaker 3>of hesitant. I still like my cable cup company, you know,
<v Speaker 3>and then they started to realize the benefits of streaming
<v Speaker 3>real quick, you know, like they didn't have to have
<v Speaker 3>a physical box anymore, or a box for every room
<v Speaker 3>in your house that cost you thirty dollars to rent
<v Speaker 3>per box per month. On top of the actual channels
<v Speaker 3>you wanted to purchase, a lot of the channels you
<v Speaker 3>didn't watch. It just became insanely expensive. Now the cost
<v Speaker 3>for consumers hasn't exactly decreased, though, unless you're disciplined enough
<v Speaker 3>to stick with one streaming service, because a lot of
<v Speaker 3>us have multiple streaming services Hulu, Netflix, Paramount, Discovery Plus,
<v Speaker 3>go down the line. It all adds up to about
<v Speaker 3>what you were probably paying for your cable subscription. But
<v Speaker 3>the convenience of just being able to stream is I mean,
<v Speaker 3>it's next level. So the cord cutting process, I think
<v Speaker 3>is pretty much complete. I don't even know too many
<v Speaker 3>people that just have cable anymore. I don't. It's like
<v Speaker 3>asking somebody, do you do you have a home phone?
<v Speaker 3>You have people that look at you like, what do
<v Speaker 3>you mean a home phone? You basically have cable companies
<v Speaker 3>that used to be the package, right, you used to
<v Speaker 3>get a cable subscription on top of you know, phone
<v Speaker 3>for ten I don't know, text or ten bucks a
<v Speaker 3>month with caller ID. Remember that that's gone by the wayside.
<v Speaker 3>I mean they're essentially going to pay you to take
<v Speaker 3>their phone service. So the cable cutting process I think
<v Speaker 3>is nearly complete across the board in the United States
<v Speaker 3>and really across the world. Is everything in stream stream streams, stream, stream,
<v Speaker 3>cloud service and you know, it's got its benefits. It's
<v Speaker 3>on the go. You don't have to have your you know,
<v Speaker 3>your your cable box setup to stream. Although that's I
<v Speaker 3>think there there used to be like a cable streaming
<v Speaker 3>service that you could download an app for Spectrum or whatever,
<v Speaker 3>but it's not as intuitive or convenient as Netflix, Hulu
<v Speaker 3>and all the rest. So and on top of it, yeah,
<v Speaker 3>the ad revenue on those platforms is much higher than
<v Speaker 3>it is for cable subscriptions at the moment. So all right,
<v Speaker 3>back to wrestling. A quick interesting point to mention is
<v Speaker 3>that Cody Roads and Ko the ladder match for the
<v Speaker 3>undisputed title is scheduled for the Rumble and not at
<v Speaker 3>the next Saturday's main event that is scheduled for January
<v Speaker 3>twenty fifth. I wonder for any returns either in that
<v Speaker 3>match to interfere or does he appear at the Rumble.
<v Speaker 3>It would have made sense for the ladder match to
<v Speaker 3>be at Saturday night's main event because of the nostalgia
<v Speaker 3>factor that the challenger and champion will be competing for
<v Speaker 3>both championship belts, kind of similar to the Razor ramon
<v Speaker 3>Shawn Michael's ladder match when they competed for the two
<v Speaker 3>IC belts that were hanging above the ring at WrestleMania
<v Speaker 3>at ten. I don't know why they're doing it. There's
<v Speaker 3>I mean, there's got to be a reason. But the
<v Speaker 3>idea though that Kevin Owens and Cody Roads also can't
<v Speaker 3>compete in the Rumble. This is not what you said, DJ,
<v Speaker 3>but just I've heard it that just because they're competing
<v Speaker 3>in a match at the Royal Rumble doesn't mean they
<v Speaker 3>can't also compete in the Rumble. I mean that's happened before.
<v Speaker 3>I mean Roman Reigns did it, among others where I
<v Speaker 3>think Brock did it too, Brock Lesner where you had
<v Speaker 3>an actual match of the but then you were also
<v Speaker 3>an entrant in the Rumble. So that's still possible. I
<v Speaker 3>wouldn't exempt them. But Randy's gonna come back. He's coming back.
<v Speaker 3>He's going to attack Kevin Owens and cost him the championship.
<v Speaker 3>Kevin Owens is not going to win. I'll continue to
<v Speaker 3>say this. I feel like I've said this for the
<v Speaker 3>last five years that Kevin Owens has been in and
<v Speaker 3>out of the main event title scene. Not the time,
<v Speaker 3>not the time. He'll come close, but not win. That
<v Speaker 3>continues to be the case. I feel bad for Ko
<v Speaker 3>who just can't time it right. It never feels like
<v Speaker 3>he's in the title picture at the moment when it
<v Speaker 3>feels like it's ready for the champion to drop the belt.
<v Speaker 3>He he's just he's a great top guy that is
<v Speaker 3>a top guy that the company will never seem to
<v Speaker 3>get behind as a champion. But he's a great foil
<v Speaker 3>for the champion and there's something to be said for that.
<v Speaker 3>That's not demeaning him. There are absolute roles for guys
<v Speaker 3>like that, and not everybody gets that role either. Kevin
<v Speaker 3>Owens is in an elite role, just not in that
<v Speaker 3>top top tier that the company would say, yeah, it's
<v Speaker 3>your time, pal. It doesn't seem that way anyway. They
<v Speaker 3>could surprise us, but it's always Kevin Owens the bride's made,
<v Speaker 3>never the bride. He's like this close to there but
<v Speaker 3>never timing it right. And they just don't seem to
<v Speaker 3>have the momentum that they want behind him or the
<v Speaker 3>crowd to get. I don't know what it is. But finally,
<v Speaker 3>I want to quickly mention my predictions for the Monday
<v Speaker 3>night Raw Netflix premiere, since it's being promoted like a
<v Speaker 3>pl with five matches on the card. Oh there are five?
<v Speaker 3>All right? Yeah, I just must have missed that. Okay,
<v Speaker 3>Roman versus Solo in the Tribal Combat match. Roman wins
<v Speaker 3>and gets back as it will to follow Drew versus
<v Speaker 3>Jay you're predicting Drew wins, Ria versus Live and the
<v Speaker 3>Last Woman Standing Championship match. Ria wins and this dude
<v Speaker 3>finally ends. But then Charlotte returns, has a stare down
<v Speaker 3>with Riha, and possibly Becky returns to interfere during the match. Wow,
