They id'd me at the door. 00:01:15 Speaker 4: Did you say thank you? 00:01:16 Speaker 2: Bless you? I was like, dude, I really look so young. He was like, you do. I was like, I have a baby and I'm thirty one. 00:01:25 Speaker 5: You do look young though, like right when you wear no makeup, I'd say, I'm not even kidding. 00:01:30 Speaker 3: I'd be like, oh, nineteen, you look like baby face. 00:01:34 Speaker 2: Yeah, with my pre pubescent acne that kicks in every once in a while. But then it's such a mind FuG because it's like she's got a breakout happening, but also molassic, So how old is she really? 00:01:51 Speaker 1: But then your beauty line takes it away? 00:01:53 Speaker 6: Yeah? 00:01:54 Speaker 2: That is correct? True, that true. That just add a little moisture from give them a last skin and we're there, Yes, honey, or I add a little bit of give them all a beauty and I look like a grown. 00:02:07 Speaker 4: Woman, grown ass woman. 00:02:09 Speaker 2: Yes. So I'm super excited to have Easton in town. How do you feel, Easton to be back on the podcast Amazing you Do? Yeah? What is it like being here in La for you? 00:02:21 Speaker 1: I love it? 00:02:22 Speaker 2: Do you want to move here? You're a man of very if you were a bedroom and I'm there, we're about how many we are? I don't have many, but I like to just think of life when you're kind of in the shit. It's only temporary. Yeah, everything's only temporary. 00:02:46 Speaker 6: So add more. 00:02:47 Speaker 2: Yeah, one day I'm going to be living large, not a care in the world, and I'll be free as a little fucking bird. Just do whatever I want. You know, that's I do. 00:03:00 Speaker 5: But we are about to, as you guys know, we have been working from Lalla's home for the past ten months. 00:03:09 Speaker 4: Yeah or so, no, eight months. 00:03:12 Speaker 2: It feels like one hundred years. 00:03:13 Speaker 5: But we're about to move out because we've got official offices now, so Easton can live here permanently if you want to. 00:03:19 Speaker 2: Eat, if you wanted, totally. I know. She's so happy. And we didn't get one office space. We didn't get two office spaces. We got three. Three office spaces, three one for everything that I have. We have the beauty and skin department, we have the podcast department, we have the baby department. I feel like such I want to be able to one day when I'm just bawling the fuck out because it will happen. It will to drive past those office spaces and be like, oh, remember when just is going to be there looking fabulous. She's also going to be really fucking read. 00:04:07 Speaker 5: She's like, I do remember, I'll have an accent by then. Yes, here's the deal, though, I have questions for Easton and Laala because. 00:04:26 Speaker 2: You came up with games. 00:04:27 Speaker 3: I came up with kind of games. 00:04:29 Speaker 5: But also, just like you guys are brother and sister, I have questions. I have siblings, and like you know, so I got along with growing up others I didn't. I remember fun times, fights, family vacation. So I'm like, I have questions for Lala and Easton that I think the listeners might find interesting and fun. 00:04:49 Speaker 6: I hit her with a golf club once, see like that. 00:04:56 Speaker 5: I need to know not even wait how though, because this is very interesting. 00:05:02 Speaker 4: Did you get knocked out? 00:05:03 Speaker 2: What happened? Oh? It was I remember mom, thank you. My mom's in the corner and you had on that really wrote yep, yep, oh my god. 00:05:19 Speaker 5: Lisa might pop in and out because I really wanted. 00:05:22 Speaker 2: On the today, and she goes, my voice is way too raspy, that's what she said. By the way, she's so fabulous. She got her lips injected, and she's been really, really self conscious about the fact that it looks like all she's been doing is sucking on blueberries. BlackBerry. Yeah yeah, And I was like Lisa. In any other place, they'd be like that woman got her ass kicked, okay, but here they're like fresh lips. 00:05:51 Speaker 4: Fresh lips. 00:05:53 Speaker 3: You should wear that around as like a badge of honor. 00:05:57 Speaker 4: You really should. 00:05:58 Speaker 6: What is that that's said? Oh? 00:06:02 Speaker 2: Yeah, so it was Easter Sunday. Easton asked my mom if he he was very into playing sports in the house. I don't know why. We had a fabulous backyard Easter Sunday. It is warm outside. You could have gone outside and my dad set up a fabulous putting green for Easton in the backyard, but today he wanted to put in the house. So I like went into our playroom thinking I was going to approach him with just a little putt, but he had decided to take on his Tiger Woods golf swing and I was behind him and he just smacked me. What was it? It had to have been like a fucking nine iron because of the precision. 00:06:41 Speaker 3: Oh, it wasn't like a plastic like this was an golf. 00:06:46 Speaker 2: Is a nine iron? Is a nine iron the one that's skinny? Kind of Oh, I don't know. 00:06:53 Speaker 4: And he cut your eye open. 00:06:54 Speaker 2: It wasn't it wasn't a still there. Yeah, No, I still have the little scar. I mean he could have taken my It was not great, you know, it was very That's what. 00:07:03 Speaker 5: The scar in your eyebrows from. Yes, from the you guys, if you've ever seen Laala's left eyebrow and it's not filled in, there's a little scar. And I've always wondered what that was from. Yeah, I think it looks kind of bad ass. 00:07:15 Speaker 2: Taking a golf club to the freaking dome. 00:07:18 Speaker 4: Did you get in trouble? 00:07:20 Speaker 2: No? No, My my grandfather had just passed away, my mom's dad. So she was like having a day right, Like, she was in bed napping and then she had heard a blood curdling scream and she like put me in bed with her until my dad got home. And I remember obsessing over it, and I kept looking in the mirror and I'm telling you could see bone and I was terrified of needles and stitches. Yeah, And I kept looking at it, going, it's not even that bad. Because you didn't want to. I just didn't want like if I could convince my mom that it wasn't that bad, like we weren't going to room. Yeah, it was that bad. It was we went to the yeah to like an urgent care. My mom was like, I have to. My mom knew that I was fucking gorgeous, just the most flawless, stunning little girl you've ever seen, and she demanded a plastic surgeon to save stop a little scarring she did. 00:08:15 Speaker 4: Did you get stitches? 00:08:17 Speaker 2: I did? But the guy was like, by the time you get to a plastic surgeon, yeah, it's going like it will key Lloyd, because the scar tissue's gonna like start popping off. We gotta close it right now. And he did a great job. 00:08:30 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:08:31 Speaker 4: So Easton, you didn't get in trouble. No you didn't. 00:08:34 Speaker 3: That's great, No, yelly, Yes, what a great mom. 00:08:39 Speaker 4: Okay. So then with that being how old were you? 00:08:42 Speaker 6: Both? 00:08:43 Speaker 2: We were young? Were How old was I? Right? So he said was six? Damn you gotta wow for a little six year old. Okay. 00:08:55 Speaker 5: So with that that makes me wonder, then did you guys did you get along growing up? Or were you that that sibling pair that was constantly fighting? 00:09:05 Speaker 1: I don't know, really nice and I always got along. 00:09:09 Speaker 2: We did got along. He was because we were close in age. We're only like two and a half years apart. And what I don't remember us fighting. 00:09:19 Speaker 4: Ever, Lisa is shaking her head. 00:09:21 Speaker 2: Now, Yeah, we always got along. 00:09:24 Speaker 6: Really. 00:09:24 Speaker 2: Can I tell you how horrendous this is? Though? What like I mean obviously back in the day, like you just did things different. You know, like you got in the bed of a truck and you like drove around again slurpy, and now if you were to see that, you would go into full on someone called the police. Right. 00:09:39 Speaker 6: Yeah. 00:09:40 Speaker 2: My dad when we would travel, would lay down the back seats, okay, so it was just the third row seat, and it would be he would lay padding down, so it was like essentially like a bed, right, and then once we woke up from our nap, then we could sit down buckle up, yeah, because only when you're buckled up can you get in a car accident. I mean, we had like one of those giant TVs with the VCR, you know. 00:10:04 Speaker 3: Like it wasnic Yeah. 00:10:05 Speaker 2: I put it in the corner so we could lay down and watch movies. 00:10:09 Speaker 1: With the Xbox too. 00:10:10 Speaker 2: Yeah, with the Xbox. 00:10:12 Speaker 7: Just so we could all get really fucking taken out. 00:10:17 Speaker 2: But I mean, like those are like the memories I have. Yeah, And I have a vivid memory Easton, tell me if you remember this of us driving home. We were watching Spy Kids with Antonio Bandon, such a good movie, so good, and my dad was on the phone with my grandma and she told him that our guinea pig, Ruffles, had died, and that she buried it in the car. 00:10:42 Speaker 7: And I could never watch Spike In again because I got the news about the fucking guinea pig and it shrinkered me after that. 00:10:50 Speaker 2: And this movie brings back really dark memories. Did I forgot about Ruffles? You did? Why? 00:11:00 Speaker 6: I remember? I was so young, but now I remember him. 00:11:03 Speaker 2: Mom got him for me to have our class pet. 00:11:07 Speaker 5: Oh no, and it died. You don't remember, though, but you were sad. 00:11:12 Speaker 4: You cried. 00:11:13 Speaker 2: I tried to dig him on in the back yard. 00:11:16 Speaker 7: I looked for mounds of dirt all over the backyard and I could never find him. 00:11:23 Speaker 6: On that note, do you remember about the cat? 00:11:25 Speaker 2: What was the cat? To tell me? 00:11:27 Speaker 6: The cat? 00:11:27 Speaker 8: Remember we were gardening and you hadn't seen the cat for a little bit. 00:11:31 Speaker 2: Do you remember, Yeah, I do. I hadn't seen the cat in a really long time. What happened with the cat? 00:11:37 Speaker 8: The poor cat got yeah, yes. 00:11:43 Speaker 6: Hit by a car. Yes, sad, sad, sad. 00:11:46 Speaker 8: And it been like two three weeks and La La asked about the cat, and so I had to tell her that the cat had passed away. And she asked me when, and I said about three weeks ago, and she goes, why didn't you tell me that? 00:12:01 Speaker 2: That's not what happened. That's not what happened. I remember, I was sobbing. I was sobbing. And my dad I remember him hugging me and saying, Lauren, the cat's been gone for a really long time, and you haven't even noticed until now. And then I said, well, if you would have told me then I would be over it by now. Genius. Wait, tell me you were older. You were older than. 00:12:34 Speaker 8: I remember, bad And and I was gardening and that's when you asked us. 00:12:43 Speaker 2: Dad was there, right, because I remember being under the big pine tree in the front yard. 00:12:47 Speaker 4: Yes, did you take the cat up? 00:12:49 Speaker 2: Did you take the cat up? 00:12:52 Speaker 6: Why don't you tell me? 00:12:53 Speaker 2: Because now i'd be over and can I tell you? I remember running running up the street sobbing looking up to God being like why. 00:13:06 Speaker 3: So dramatic, like you're in a movie. How old were you? This is important? Were you sixteen or were you like eight? 00:13:12 Speaker 2: No? I was young. Oh okay, child. 00:13:16 Speaker 5: Oh. 00:13:17 Speaker 8: I learned from that you keep your your animals inside at all times. 00:13:22 Speaker 2: Because we lived by a pretty busy street. That's a good lesson. I mean, we had a few animals get out that got hit by cars. 00:13:29 Speaker 5: Really it was did you always bury your animals in the backyard. 00:13:34 Speaker 2: I think the only animal that got buried was by my grandma in the backyard yard. She's also the one that told me Santa wasn't real. 00:13:39 Speaker 1: Oh, she wasn't buried by Grandma in the backyard. 00:13:43 Speaker 2: Grandma buried ruffles in the backyard. 00:13:47 Speaker 1: We didn't very grandma in the backyard. 00:13:49 Speaker 4: She wasn't next to Grandma. 00:13:52 Speaker 2: No, No, she wasn't. 00:13:57 Speaker 8: Morbid morbid ways an these days. 00:14:02 Speaker 2: Yes, Lisa, that's what it's all about, Lisa, is like being able to sit there. And you may have done a lot of things back in the day when you know education, it wasn't at our fingertips. Yeah right. There weren't phones, you weren't googling things and so yes, we I mean even Bella, my mom's Pomeranian, is from a pet store. She's fourteen years old. I mean you wouldn't. Number one, you can't find pet stores anymore. You can find breeders, but you would catch us dead going to it. We walk into a shelter, we adopt a pet, right, I'm sure at some point in time my mother has been to SeaWorld. Now we're protesting to like, don't fucking go to sea World. It's about educating yourself, right of course. So yes, we've all come a long way as Yeah, I love. 00:14:46 Speaker 8: Being outside, but you know what, I should have kept her inside? 00:14:49 Speaker 5: Yeah, well, oh my god, no, I know you do. 00:14:55 Speaker 4: And this this just to someone who. 00:14:58 Speaker 2: Didn't want to do the podcast. It's going to get the mic interface. We only have three mics. 00:15:04 Speaker 5: No, this is Lisa's gonna I've got a question coming up that I want. I'm gonna hand over the mic to Lisa too, because it is about Easton and Lala. 00:15:13 Speaker 3: But this is like back in the day. Quick side note. 00:15:16 Speaker 5: Back in the day, a lot of pets where I grew up were buried in the yard because it was like you could have a funeral mini funeral and you would like dig a deep, deep, deep hole. And a really traumatic story really quick for me is that our dog Balto died. Guys, I was like eight and my dad, we were really close with. Balto died of old age. And my dad said, okay, we're gonna have a funeral. He had an excavator. 00:15:44 Speaker 4: Come is a dig. 00:15:46 Speaker 5: We lived on a like a lot of land, so he's like, we're gonna dig. And my dad thought it was morbid for us kids to see Balto going in if he was in a plastic bag. 00:15:57 Speaker 2: So he goes. 00:15:58 Speaker 5: So I just thought, okay, we'll put Balto. He'll become part of the earth. 00:16:02 Speaker 4: And Balta was buried. We had a whole thing. 00:16:06 Speaker 5: And then that evening it rained very heavy. It was very heavy raining, and our back area flooded and I looked in the backyard and all of a sudden, my dad and mom said it went and I thought Balto was coming back to life because four pause were sticking up out of the ground. Balto was rising because of all the water, and I just went like. 00:16:34 Speaker 4: I lost it. And my Dad's like, oh my god. 00:16:36 Speaker 3: Okay, that's so times are different now, but. 00:16:42 Speaker 2: Well, now can I tell you can walk into like the Humane Society after your pet dies, and they have like a lot of different things that you can do with Yes, oh you do a deord cremated deor you can turn it into diamonds too. Oh shit, that seems intense expensive. 00:16:59 Speaker 4: Yes, one percent. 00:17:01 Speaker 2: Yeah, but you can. But Door is next to my dad really yeah, and my dad always said, this is morbid podcast. My dad always said, because he loved Door so much, that he better die before Door because he couldn't take it. And that did it happen? That did happen. 00:17:17 Speaker 4: So Door is in a cemetery. 00:17:20 Speaker 8: In the study at our house, studying really really hard. 00:17:26 Speaker 6: And they're both together. 00:17:28 Speaker 4: They're in the study, they're in. 00:17:29 Speaker 5: The Yes, oh that's sweet. 00:17:34 Speaker 2: Do your and Ken You know that bird on the books right there, Jess, Yes, that's my dad as well. 00:17:40 Speaker 4: No, yeah, inside so heavy. 00:17:44 Speaker 2: Oh yeah, don't drop it. 00:17:46 Speaker 3: Thanks for telling me that. 00:17:47 Speaker 5: Now, I'm just like carelessly moving it around or have you've been doing that? 00:17:51 Speaker 3: Not carelessly, but just like you know, I'm just like I would say hi too. 00:17:55 Speaker 2: I know. For a minute, my dad was on Erica Jane's book. Oh oh, she was like bent over and lad. 00:18:03 Speaker 4: We're gonna move on the Holy Bible instead. 00:18:13 Speaker 3: Okay, Lisa, I'm about to hand the mic to you, but I. 00:18:16 Speaker 6: Do want to know. 00:18:19 Speaker 4: Ooh who was the easier baby? 00:18:21 Speaker 2: Who was the easier baby? Oh wait, you can't point they can't. We haven't gotten her. We got to step our game, lump. 00:18:29 Speaker 6: Easton was the easier baby. 00:18:31 Speaker 4: Why was Easton the easier baby? 00:18:33 Speaker 6: Because Lala was very colicky. 00:18:36 Speaker 8: And I remember one incident where my best friend said, and I went to the mall and I told her she doesn't she doesn't ever stop crying. And my friend said, it's like, oh, I'm sure she doesn't cry all day long. We get to the mall and literally she fussed the entire day at the mall. And at the end of the visit she was like, oh she she does. 00:18:57 Speaker 6: Cry o. 00:19:00 Speaker 2: Callic though exactly. 00:19:01 Speaker 8: No, you know what though, it's it's so sad for the baby, it really is. 00:19:05 Speaker 2: It's horrific collic is it's usually stomach issues, like they're they're in pain. 00:19:13 Speaker 6: Yeah, and I was a new mom. 00:19:16 Speaker 8: I didn't know what to do, and so by they're trying to Easton, Uh, he was a projectile. 00:19:24 Speaker 6: Still he still does that. 00:19:26 Speaker 2: He still does that. 00:19:28 Speaker 6: But otherwise, yeah, but they're both lovely. 00:19:32 Speaker 2: Now now you can say, whenever she gets a mic, I feel like she's a pageant, right and bring them home with something nice for both. But they were both fantastic. 00:19:46 Speaker 5: Okay, wait, what what part of the drag show? 00:19:50 Speaker 2: At the drag show, my my mom was brought on stage by this like stunning drag queen, right pink hair. She was fucking fabulous. But the question for my mom was do you prefer men or women? And my mom says, well, I prefer men, but I think women are gorgeous. Lucy answer bitch, yes, yes. 00:20:14 Speaker 8: Love that. 00:20:15 Speaker 4: See that's why I love Lisa. 00:20:17 Speaker 3: Those are my answers to. 00:20:19 Speaker 2: Give a piece answer. I tell her about my cookie munching days and she can vicariously live through me through those. 00:20:27 Speaker 4: Yes, Okay, Lisa. 00:20:32 Speaker 2: Exposed to so much. 00:20:35 Speaker 3: You guys are a very open family. 00:20:37 Speaker 5: If I yeah, if I ever said that for my brother, he would get up and walk out. 00:20:41 Speaker 3: But I love that. 00:20:43 Speaker 2: No, But can I tell you I think a lot of stuff we talk about we talk about for shock value, Like I ordered a bunch of clothes that just came you were here, Jess, and I was like, yes, I'm gonna wear this to the clib me a man, and my mom is looking at me like you're gonna be sitting your ass on that couch watching. 00:21:00 Speaker 5: Liza said, you're such a big talk You're such a big talker. 00:21:04 Speaker 2: We just talk and we just like say things, but like nothing actually. 00:21:09 Speaker 4: Really exists, right right, That makes sense? 00:21:12 Speaker 6: That makes sense. 00:21:13 Speaker 8: Did you. 00:21:15 Speaker 3: When you had were you hoping for a boy when you had Easton? 00:21:19 Speaker 8: I had my baby girl and then I found out when I was five months pregnant, I went in. I didn't find out what La La was, No, it was a surprise. But at five months I went in and found out that he was a boy. And then I felt like, oh my gosh, I'm fully with nature. I shouldn't know these things, you know, because back then you just really didn't do a lot of that. 00:21:40 Speaker 6: But my dad was over the moon that I was having a boy, and he was like, good deal. That was his big thing. 00:21:49 Speaker 2: Eton has good deal tattoo? 00:21:51 Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, a good deal. Yeah. 00:21:53 Speaker 8: So I told my dad that I was having a boy and he was like, good deal. And I had to break it to him that dad is he's not going to be a Hutton. 00:22:01 Speaker 6: That's my maiden name. 00:22:02 Speaker 8: He's going to be a Burningham, which is, you know, my married name, And it was like a he got so deflated because he didn't have anybody to carry on the family name. 00:22:14 Speaker 5: Yeah. 00:22:17 Speaker 1: Yeah, So now I'm gonna have to I have to do something to car So. 00:22:20 Speaker 8: Western's middle name is Hutton Eastern Hutton Burningham, So I keep that, keep that going. My dad absolutely, and my mother too, obviously, but they were crazy about these kids, like I think it's. 00:22:33 Speaker 2: Important to carry on, like even for me. Like when I decided I didn't want Burningham as my last name just because it wasn't a name that anyone could pronounce I was going into acting or spell it was like I was Lauren Birmingham. It was like the whole name was botched. Yes, like none of those are my my names. Yeah, So I took dad's first name is my last name because I was like, I can't cut it all together. Yeah, gotta remember the roots. 00:22:57 Speaker 5: Gotta remember the roots. Do you think you'll keep well, I don't know which last name. Do you think if you ever get married one day you would take your partner's last name or no? 00:23:08 Speaker 1: Or do you think you'll go in the Kim Kardashian West will have to drop it and. 00:23:12 Speaker 2: Then have to drop. 00:23:15 Speaker 5: Would you ever hyphenate with your partner's last name? Because I'm seeing that more. 00:23:20 Speaker 9: Now if she wanted me to nothing against it. I mean I have been so sweet, really sweet, I'll do anything. 00:23:32 Speaker 2: Oh he's so sweet. 00:23:36 Speaker 4: Easton is a great guy. 00:23:37 Speaker 2: Yes, he's so sweet. 00:23:38 Speaker 4: Would you ever Laala change your last name? 00:23:41 Speaker 2: No? Number one. I don't ever want to get legally married, so there would be no reason for me to change my name. Okay, but no, I want my name. 00:23:48 Speaker 4: Would you Kent or burning him? 00:23:50 Speaker 2: Or I think I would like to legally change it to Kent. Yeah, because I roll up to the airport and most of these people who book my flights, like if I'm working, will put me in as Lala Kent. And then it's a whole thing with the ticket agent where I'm googling myself being like thank god I have a wiki page or whatever where it's like born Lauren Burningham. That's my face. I just don't want to deal with it. 00:24:13 Speaker 4: Yeah that makes sense. 00:24:15 Speaker 5: Okay, I'm going to ask you guys, don't say it out loud, so I want to know, like the most iconic family vacation. Don't say the city, think of it in your head, the most iconic family vacation, or like the one that made the biggest impact. And on the count of three, you're both gonna say where it was in the mic, and I want to see if. 00:24:35 Speaker 3: It's the same place. Tell me when you've got it. 00:24:37 Speaker 5: Okay, okay, because I don't know where it is. 00:24:47 Speaker 2: I don't know where it is. It doesn't matter where it is. She just wants to know if it's the same. You can have a different iconic experience somewhere else. 00:24:53 Speaker 3: We'll let us see you're doing. 00:24:56 Speaker 6: She knows I'm talking about. 00:24:58 Speaker 3: Well, let's if you're thinking the same. 00:25:00 Speaker 2: Well, I wasn't say it. 00:25:03 Speaker 3: Okay ready one, no, one, two, three? 00:25:08 Speaker 2: Lake Powell. 00:25:10 Speaker 4: Oh it's on the same one. 00:25:15 Speaker 3: Okay, And now we need to. 00:25:18 Speaker 2: Lake Powell, which I just remembered that being our go to place. 00:25:24 Speaker 6: I was thinking Lake Powell. Yeah, and we did that every year. 00:25:28 Speaker 2: Well, we just every year. And that's why I think they're iconic, because every single trip was so much fun. And we would go Sid, who my mom was talking about when I was Colicky Sid her family and our family would go to Lake Powell together every single year. There were like tons of us boat and it was it was like a nice boat. It was very nice house boat. Nice yes, but I mean yes, but we were packed in there like a sardine can. It was so much fun. 00:26:01 Speaker 3: Did you stay in a house, No, stay on the wild Yes. 00:26:09 Speaker 2: And you take it out of the slip and you take it on the lake and you find a little beach to park it on and then that's where you stay for like the. 00:26:17 Speaker 9: Next And it's not the same. 00:26:22 Speaker 2: It's not the same. I went to Lake Mead. 00:26:24 Speaker 5: And I was like, not lake meat is lake meat in Vegas. That's where the bodies are buried. 00:26:30 Speaker 2: There's a lot of bodies. I'm sure there's a lot of bodies, but like, not the same. You're not. And it's annoying because I see the fucking Kardashian Jenner gang all up in Lake Powell now and I'm like, what is this? 00:26:43 Speaker 4: Ye is this? 00:26:44 Speaker 2: It's it? 00:26:44 Speaker 5: Yet it's like, don't make it, bougie, they're trying to make don't do that. When did you guys stop and why or do you still do it? 00:26:52 Speaker 6: No? 00:26:52 Speaker 2: We stopped when we were like in high. 00:26:55 Speaker 4: School because it was getting too much. 00:26:57 Speaker 2: Well, everyone started getting older. My dad was tired, and it's a lot of work, okay, Like every single night we were dealing with windstorms coming in and anchors flying out of the ground, and it was just like I remember every time hearing the wind kick in. I was so young. Then I would get a pit in my stomach because I'm like, I know what this means. And you would hear all the boys start getting out of their sleeping bags going out to the beach, trying to like hunker us down more because that wind kicks up and you lose one anchor, you're flying into a fucking rock. 00:27:24 Speaker 4: And what if it was a lightning storm? Do you just stay on the lake? 00:27:28 Speaker 2: It's very scary, Justine, we were. 00:27:30 Speaker 6: All willing to take. 00:27:33 Speaker 8: And you would put your sleeping bag up on top, like the whole top of the boat. No, no, it's open, and you just have rows of sleeping bags and everybody sleeps out under the stars. 00:27:46 Speaker 2: And there's like a little tiny pathway that you go to get to your little bed. Yes, it's so fun. 00:27:52 Speaker 8: And there were two bedrooms inside the houseboat and then there's a living room, dining room, kitchen, and two bathrooms for you. 00:28:00 Speaker 2: Yeah, there's two bathrooms. 00:28:03 Speaker 5: I've been on a house but for a party once, but I barely remember it because I was extremely drunk. But I just remember being like showing up there with friends and being like. 00:28:11 Speaker 3: Is this a boat on the water? This is insane, and then leaving that night. 00:28:16 Speaker 5: But I always thought like, was that a dream or did I And so it must have really existed, which is amazing. 00:28:24 Speaker 2: It was. 00:28:26 Speaker 8: And then you'd go out water skiing and tubing during the day because you'd have a ski boat and then you'd have jet skis and it was like the greatest family vacation, such bonding, nothing better. 00:28:39 Speaker 1: Bonfires on the beach at night. 00:28:41 Speaker 4: That is so fun. But you Eastern said a different vacation. Which one did you say? 00:28:46 Speaker 2: I think I got left in the vehicle. You've been left in a vehicle many times? 00:28:53 Speaker 6: Okay, So no, which roat? 00:28:56 Speaker 8: So we would go to Newport Beach every year. That was our found with the sun last again, my dear friend. Anyway, my husband was leaving for an Alaskan fishing trip from our Newport Beach right from that trip, so I had the two kids, and so we were changing rooms and all of a sudden, I'm taking stuff from one room to the next room, and I leave the door open, and I go back in and Easton is nowhere to be found. 00:29:26 Speaker 6: Nowhere. 00:29:27 Speaker 2: Parenting back then is so weird. I would never just leave ocean to switch rooms. 00:29:31 Speaker 6: Well it was right next door. It was right next door. 00:29:33 Speaker 2: Well it's a different days. 00:29:36 Speaker 6: You were little. 00:29:38 Speaker 8: You were little three, like at least, yeah, you were three. So all of a sudden, I am calling for Easton and all of my group is down at this restaurant, the Penguin. So I go running down the street to the Penguin. I bust open the doors and I said, Easton's missing. 00:29:55 Speaker 2: The whole restaurant. Yeah, to bust through the freaking door. 00:29:58 Speaker 4: Easton's missing. 00:30:01 Speaker 6: The entire restaurant gets up and runs. 00:30:05 Speaker 2: I wish you could have seen it. It was like a mob running up the streets. Firefighters that were eating breads. 00:30:12 Speaker 6: Yeah, it was firefighters, along with family members and friends. We all strangely went. 00:30:20 Speaker 8: We all went flying back to the hotel and lo and behold, I turned the corner and there is my child with the front desk attendant and he looks at me and says, Mommy, you left me. Come to find out he was hiding in the drapes. This child hid everywhere I went to Nordstroms. He would hide in the racks of clouds. But he would but he would not let you know that he was there, Like silent little guy. 00:30:49 Speaker 2: He also went through a hiding pace, but also a phase of wrapping things around his neck. 00:30:54 Speaker 6: Oh my gosh. 00:30:55 Speaker 2: It was so we were on our yes, no, we were on our way to I guess yes. 00:31:02 Speaker 6: I wanted to go see her. 00:31:03 Speaker 2: Sobody triggering things happen when your parents passed, like I can't deal. And Easton I look over and he's wrapped the seat belt around his neck and he looks at me. 00:31:14 Speaker 1: He's like, like the safety, like the child safety, come back right. 00:31:18 Speaker 2: He looked at me and goes and I was like trying to undo it, and I'm noticing it's getting tired. And that's when I was like, God, tell mom, Dad, gotta tell him. You're gonna die. Didn't you're nervous. You're so nervous, did you? But you whispered to me across the little seat like big eyes? Did you? When did you? 00:31:47 Speaker 4: Did you yell? 00:31:48 Speaker 2: No? I say to them, I'm like Easton is strangling himself. So my dad gets out and he's trying to do it and it is getting tired. Yes, and so my mom starts crying and hysterics my dad. We have nothing, right, we have nothing in the car to cut it right. My dad grabs a. 00:32:08 Speaker 6: Lighter and he's lighting it by my neck. 00:32:18 Speaker 4: Are you like freaking out? 00:32:20 Speaker 6: I'm beyond freaking out. 00:32:22 Speaker 8: I just lost my mother and no, I was beyond I was sobbing, like so my cute daughter, that's I do it myself. 00:32:33 Speaker 6: Runs out of the car. 00:32:34 Speaker 2: We're on the freeway and there's like you can go straight to head. 00:32:37 Speaker 6: We're at the off rap. 00:32:38 Speaker 2: We're at the off ramp. You can turn, and thank god, this is where it happened, because where you turn is where a lot of people go like camping and take their r vs. So I run to where they get off at their little fucking off ramp and I flag down an r V and I tell them I need scissors or a knife or something, and they give me scissors. We cut the seatbelts, and the entire rest of the. 00:33:05 Speaker 7: Ride, my mom sits in the back in the middle, arms around both of ice, sobbing. 00:33:10 Speaker 2: The entire rest of the way. 00:33:13 Speaker 3: What was going through your mind after that? 00:33:15 Speaker 8: Were you like, yes, I just lost my mother, like you said for the hundredth time, that I could not lose anybody else. 00:33:22 Speaker 2: It was. 00:33:23 Speaker 6: It was so traumatizing for me. 00:33:25 Speaker 2: It was. It was. 00:33:28 Speaker 6: It was in two thousand and three. 00:33:30 Speaker 2: You were twelve or twelve, okay, yeah? 00:33:33 Speaker 6: Ten? 00:33:35 Speaker 2: No, ten, because we were going for Labor Day. Damn Memorial Day. 00:33:43 Speaker 4: Oh my god. 00:33:44 Speaker 2: Yeah no. So and then we get home from the trip and go to my grandma's house to see her, and I'm looking at Easton in the corner of the room wrapping the fucking blind's court around his neck. I was like, stop doing that. 00:33:59 Speaker 6: It's a thing. 00:34:00 Speaker 5: It's little kids do it like a nervous tick. Yeah, something where or they'll just spin. I used to babysit a kid who I'm I was. I looked over, took my eyes off him for two seconds, looked back over. He was probably like eight, and he had spun himself up and it was and it was a like a like yeah, like a rope thing that hung off the blinds and he put it around his neck and. 00:34:21 Speaker 4: Just spun all the way. And I was like, what what are you doing. 00:34:26 Speaker 8: Yeah, well they have warnings now on the blinds, and some of them don't even have those cords anymore. So it was it was a choking high obviously. 00:34:34 Speaker 2: Yeah. I have put the cords very high up. Yeah, since having Ocean like yeah, or tied in a little ball. The blinds don't need to be shut, they don't need to be opened. Just leave them the way they are so that that little string thing corn stays where it is. Because I'm not about it exactly, Okay, I want to wrap it up with this. 00:34:56 Speaker 5: Question, and then I'm gonna hand the mic to you, Lisa, because I want all three of you to answer this. Obviously you had, like we've just heard your traditions growing up, you guys went on trips all of that. What are you wanting to either re implement or continue doing with Ocean because now we're at the next generation. 00:35:15 Speaker 4: So let's hear that. 00:35:16 Speaker 8: I want to make traditions whatever that's going to be. 00:35:20 Speaker 2: Like. But do you have anything from back in the day that you would want to keep going? 00:35:24 Speaker 4: Would you want to the Lake Powell thing again or no? Do you think that's too much? 00:35:28 Speaker 8: You know what, it is a lot of work, It really is because then you have to have somebody to drive the house boat, which was my husband and you know he's no longer here. So I think it's a lot of work. It's a lot of fun, but it's a lot of work. You know what. I would like at least to rent a beach house, you know, every year for our family. 00:35:47 Speaker 6: I mean, that is something that. 00:35:48 Speaker 8: I would love to keep the tradition going. 00:35:51 Speaker 2: Yeah. But and we could keep that going because then sid her family, like that's who we would go with. And now Olivia has a baby, a little girl who's ocean's age, so we could very well keep all of that going. 00:36:06 Speaker 9: Yeah, that's the one tradition that I would like to keep going. 00:36:09 Speaker 1: Is the Newport Yeah. 00:36:10 Speaker 2: Newport's Yeah, like Mama said, is too. It's just too much of a hassle. It is a lot of way. 00:36:16 Speaker 1: It's fun, but. 00:36:18 Speaker 2: It's nice if you if you can go with someone to deal with the rest of it, like deal with the driving of the boat, parking it. 00:36:24 Speaker 8: But it's I mean, well, you have to get a week's worth of groceries, you know, you've got to keep ice in the freezer. You've got like you say, you've got to go fill you've got to pump. 00:36:36 Speaker 2: I don't think it would be as amazing as it was when you were a kid, because when you're a kid, you don't have to deal you know, the parents were dealing with that that we didn't deal with the food. 00:36:44 Speaker 6: You're now the parent. 00:36:45 Speaker 2: I'm now the parent. Now I have to figure out all of those things, which would be very worth it if Ocean loved it. It's the driving of the boat. I would have to find someone who knew how to drive a boat of that size right right, and they're not quick, Like if someone's coming at you, which has happened before, you're getting taken out. 00:37:04 Speaker 1: So now my question to you Law is now that we what would you like to do with Ocean as a new Yeah, Like is there something that you want to start new? 00:37:17 Speaker 2: Yeah? I think because I live in California now, like Newport is super fun, but I would want to do like more of a mountain vacation, like every year, do something where there's like the snow and the mountains and coziness. I love hearing Utah people working together. 00:37:37 Speaker 6: Utah what a great place to be. 00:37:41 Speaker 8: Utah is beautiful, It's a great place to raise a family. You've got seasons. You've got hiking, biking, skiing, fishing. Not that I'm a fisherman, but we like to know we have options up there. 00:37:57 Speaker 6: Exactly, yeah, exactly. 00:37:59 Speaker 2: This is such a fun podcast Easton. I love you so much. 00:38:02 Speaker 6: Thank you, I love you. 00:38:03 Speaker 2: Thank you for having me always. You're always most welcome. My beautiful mother. I love you.
