Superstar Rita Wilson Talks About Her Time on ‘LTYH’

Speaker 1: Welcome back, Happy Hour listeners. We are excited to be with you once again. This week. Of course, we are going to be recapping another episode of Listening to Your Heart. But Rachel, I have to start off by saying this and bragging because we have I don't want to say her name yet, but you know we both love our badass women. We are so excited to have our new guests on today. I was gonna say judge, but she's not judging us. She's just a guest with us chatting. She did judge them, but she is just a Megas superstar, a country singer, a producer, an actress, and activist basically and all around freaking badass. So I cannot wait, because Bachelor Happy Hour Listeners, Today we have Rada Wilson on our podcast, and yes, I love the enthusiasm. We're so excited she you know, if we couldn't tell, she's going to be a judge on next week's episode of Listening to Your Heart, which is by the way, it's crazy to think that we're already there, but it's the final episode and I can't believe we're almost to the end. It's gone by way too fast. It's been one hell of a ride so far. I know how many weeks has it been? Three? This is four? Two, so I think five five? Okay, two. So I had high expectations for the show, and it honestly has not disappointed. And I'm kind of like, what are we gonna do? You know? I know we do this in bathroom every time a season ends, We're like, what are we gonna do next? What are we gonna do next? But I feel that with this show, more than ever, I've really enjoyed the stories, the new contestants, new faces, the music, obviously, the guest judges, just the all around show has just been really good. And I've really enjoyed talking about it with you, and that I feel like I've also learned so much more about you and your love for music. No, really, you can you can really tell somebody about the music that they listen to. And I didn't know that you were into certain artists, like even like we've talked about, you know, Stevie Nicks, or you've been geeking out over every person, every judge, Andy Grahamar and Kesha Jason Raz Like I feel like you have a story. You're like, oh, I've seen them in concert, oh, I've seen them. So it's just really been fun because I feel like I've learned another side of you as well. But I feel like I have a bad habit of jumping to the end because I'm talking about the show as if it's already over and we still have an episode to recap today and then we still have an episode to watch next week. So instead of letting me be sad or us be sad about the fact that the show's about end, let's talk about the present and talk about them now because so much went down, and as always, Chris Harrison pops it off. I feel like it seems from the beginning of every episode when Chris Harrison comes out, like is he living in this freaking mansion with them? Because he just walks down like, hey, guys, good morning, got some news. I'm like, he's definitely just shacking up there, like getting all the juicy drama but not having to deal with any of it. And you know what's funny, I feel like on batchlor and Bachelorette, we're so excited to see Chris Harrison. We're like, Okay, he's gonna come in with a day card, or he's gonna tell us that we're leaving the mansion. It's always it's not towards the end till he starts saying no cocktail Hardies. But with them, they're like, oh God, what is Chris Harrison gonna say today? You know, it's a totally different feel and you saw it if you were paying attention. I think when Chris came down this week, Jamie's face, she's like, oh no, what is it. But at least this time he's not like swapping couples on anyone. He's just telling them that they're hitting the road. So yes, they go to Sin City. And my first thought when Chris Harrison says Vegas is they're better beat Wayne Newton better be a part of this some way somehow. Unfortunately he's not, but he should have been. I love you, sure it was your first thought. My first thought was when I heard that they were going on buses to Vegas. I thought, are these big in and Becca's tour buses? That was my first thought. What I will no, I will say there's were a little bit shittier than the ones, better than I had Ben and I got like the platinum diamond top of the top that you could have tour buses and there's are a step down, which I think is good because I think it really gives them like the legitimate tour bus feel that Trevor was always asking for. Right. Yeah, Trevor reiterates that this is his dream to be touring with his family. I like that they did the tour bus feel. Oh shit, there was something I was going to say about the buses. If I would have been on the bus with my partner, I'm like, thank God it wasn't me. Because the second I get in a bus or a car, or any sort of moving vehicle, whether it's a car or a plane, I pass out. And I'm like, I would make for such bad TV if I was with my partner, because I would be just snoring in the back. No, the adent you remember what it's like when you finally get with that person that you've been, you know, so into, the adrenaline would have would have creeped up, not creeped up. The dren would have been. They would have been living together. But that's and that's an interesting point. They live in the same house, but obviously they don't spend the night together. I'm just assuming because I feel like we would get I feel like we would get an insight into that because in Paradise, when they spend the night together, you usually see it, and we don't see them wake up together. We don't see we see them in the common areas together. I don't know, though, I feel like there's definitely that mansion is so big that there are areas that they could sneak and sleep and be away from. Definitely sneaking around, right, Like, if you would have put me in the mansion with the dude that I'm dating and into there's no way I'm not knocking on his door, creeping through his window trying to figure out how we can have a moment that cree a storage closet, right. But the reason I don't think that that's the case is because I think it's Trevor who says in the episode later on to Matt, did you and Rudy get to share a bed? And it made me feel like okay, So that that confirms that. But we do see them heads of Vegas, and we see them on the bus and we get an inside the four couples left, and we get an inside into each couple except for one Natasha and Ryan. I mean, did they speak to each other on the butt. I was so annoyed. I'm like, Okay, here go Trevor and Jamie, here's Rudy and Matt, Chris and Brie, and then we just see Natasha and Ryan. No words were spoken well, And it's like I said this last week when we were recapping, but they seem like they're just friends, Like they're like I think that they know that they're there for a show and that you have to be coupled up to move on, and I kind of think that that's just what they're doing. Like, I don't think that they're really connecting. I don't see a relationship and ship really forming. And so that one I mean to be how long is the drive from La to Vegas. It's got to be a little bit longer because those buses are slow. And so I feel like that, out of any of the bus rides with the couples, that one would have been the worst. Yeah. I mean, you know, they probably were in different rooms, different parts of the bus. Nataja was probably talking to the bus driver. Ryan I was in the back playing his guitar. Yeah, just only talking in his head. I mean, I feel like we lost Ryan the moment that Jamie chose Trevor. He seemed to have way more personality and talk way more that first episode, and he's not with us anymore. We lost him on that first and that is one tooth and I mean, and not to say he's not talented, because I think he is, but he's just kind of one that to me has creeped by and doesn't really doesn't really stand out. And I don't want to say that in a bad way, but compared to these other powerhouse singers and couples, I'm like, how is Ryan still here? Yeah? No, no, no, no, completely agree with you. Another thing I wanted to point out before we jump back onto these tour buses is a comment that really bothered me. At the top of the show with Jamie. Jamie is giving her insight as to Julia going home, and she says, I really, She's like, I don't know about Natasha. I really feel like Natasha's the reason that Julia went home. And I was like, Jamie, really, I get Julia's your friend, but sometimes you just gotta be straight up with your friends. And she needed to realize that Julia sent Julia home. Julia is the reason she went home. Nothing to do with Natasha. Yes, what Natasha did was messy. I agree, But Julia went home because Julia sent herself home for a reason. And I think maybe now, hopefully, if Jamie's watching it back, she can kind of see more sides to the story and is realizing like, Okay, you know, everyone makes their bedding, has to sleep in it, and Julia did just that. You can't really put that on anyone else. So maybe she's seen more now, but let's hope. So so, okay, three out of the four couples are bonding on the bus, and we see that there's this like discord between Matt and Rudy. Now, Rudy makes the comment that, you know, we really needed to get to talk some things out, and we really needed to get you know, I guess, figure some things out in their in their relationship. So they decided to take a detour and stop at a hotel. I love that Rudy made us seem like, you know what, like they're calling the shots. You know what, guys, we actually need just a little bit more time. We're not quite ready to Vegas. We're gonna can you pull over and we're gonna stop here. No, that's nice Rudy that you want us to think that, But it was all a part of the plan. Which where the hell were they because they're walking through this weird garden full of like bottle art, which immediately I was like, my mother would love this place. She would take all of those bottle trees and have them in her backyard if she could. But they were so I thought of Twister. Have you ever seen the movie Twister? Oh? Yeah, remember when they go visit Aunt whatever her name was, Aunt something, I don't remember, and she had all those bottles and stuff and weird things all up in the tree, and before the tornado hits the Aunt is my mom. That her name Michell Kouffrin. But I love at the very end too, like fastwarding the bloop I hope this was kept in with the Bloopers when they're walking through and the guy, the guy at the hotel showing them like where they can stay, and they're freaking out because I think it's haunted. I would wherever it was. It was the middle of nowhere, I would have loved to just check it out and stayed there. Yeah. I mean, Matt even said this is where people who don't like people stay well, is this sounds like a place that I don't want to be. This sounds like a place where people go and don't come back. That's what I thought when I saw it. But I mean, what's bothering me with Rudy and Matt is that we look at Natasha and Ryan and they don't seem to be forcing anything right, Like they're just like I like you, we get along, we make good music together, we vibe on stage. Let's just take our time. Rudy and Matt, or Rudy, I should say, seems to be so adamant about forcing Matt to express feelings that he might not where if well, we know he's not, but feelings that he just doesn't have yet. And I feel like some of that is Jamie, because Jamie Jamie and Trevor. Jamie expresses how she feels with Trevor, and we'll talk about that later. But I just it bothers me that Rudy is so much Matt is like I like you, and I like you for this reason, this reason and this reason, and it's still not enough for her. Yeah, And I think that like it's part of the show. I mean, they're like, you think about this when you're filming, like you go, you can't spend twenty four to seven with that person, so you have to go with some of the producers and sit in interviews and you're literally constantly talking about your feelings and emotions and where you're at and where the person's at, over and over, and so you kind of start to fixate. And that's what I see happening to Rudy is like she's fixating so much on what she wants Matt to say that I don't think she's really taking into account what he actually is saying, which is like like, yeah, I do like you. But she's just like kind of pushing for more because I'm sure like in interviews they're like, well, don't you want somebody to be at that same level and like you how you like them and express those emotions, And she just seems to realize like, not everyone is there. Not I'm hitting my mic right now, Not everyone is there. Not everyone can get there as fast. I think the one thing watching their relationship with Matt is like I wish I could just sit him down and be like, look, buddy, like you may have been hurt in the past and you might have your guards up but every relationship is so different that you can't compare what's happened in the past with what is happening now or what could happen in the future. And I feel like it's easy as a human being to close up and shut down and not be as expressive in your emotions because you've been hurt in the past. But also, like Rudy isn't any of your ex as Rudy is this completely new girl. You don't know how she's going to handle certain things. And so that's one thing I want to tell him, is like, don't fixate so much on like the past and what it did to you, Like you never know what could happen in the moment. Yeah, So what bothers me is that on the Bachelor and Bachelorette, you know that it comes down to an engagement. Now we haven't seen that as of us of the last few years, but it's it comes out to an engagement. You're looking for your fiance at the end of this That is not what is at steak in this show. So I guess I get annoyed with Rudy because I'm like, why are you pressuring him when you don't need to that's not it's the point is to make a love connection. The point is to find somebody that you connect with enough chemistry with on and off the stage. But there is no pressure that you need to say I love you, I love you, and we're getting You're gonna get down on one knee. And so that's why I kind of feel Matt because I'm like, why are you, Why are you forcing this? I like, you just roll with it. Let's just have a good time. Um, okay, So Rudy and Matt are in the middle of we we don't know, we don't know where they are. They're probably on a sound stage, so we don't know where they are. But the rest of the couples are in Vegas and we see the date card. First date card looks like it's Brie and Chris. They go to a wedding chapel. Did you think Brie and Chris we're gonna get married? No? I was like, there's no way. But you never know what the show. But I will say I liked that they were asked to perform for the couple getting married. Yes, that was a good twist. Yes, one interracial couple singing for an interracial couple. Getting married. I see what you did their bachelor. You know what it reminded me of. It reminded me of when on my season when I went to Peter's hometown and he was like, Oh, we're gonna meet my friends. And I don't know if everybody knows this, but usually it's family, right. It's rare occasion that you meet the friends unless there's maybe some issue with the family, or maybe there's just like, oh, you can't do it that way, but the goal is to meet the family. So when he's like, you're going to meet their friends, my friends, I just had a weird feeling. And I sit down and here come as friends and it's two couples that are interracial. And I remember when they walked in. I just looked at my producer and I was like, really, could you and the words of Chandler being could you be anywhere obvious at this point, Really, all us interracial couples are going to just sit down together like stop. That's what it reminded me of. It. Anyways, it was sweet. They sounded so cute singing with one another. You can sell Brian and Chris are in love. Um, no drama, it's just It's just pretty to watch well. And the one part that stuck out to me was not them actually singing together and you know, performing for this couple's wedding, It was the conversation after and we got kind of the backstory last week of Chris's dad had passed away and that he thinks, you know, his dad would have loved Bree, but he goes into it more and I seriously, it was so touching him. I wasn't touching Fresh, but it was so touching listen to him because I can relate so much to Chris because my dad passed away. And when I was falling in love with Garrett, I kept saying Garrett felt like home. He reminded me of my dad, and I think, I mean, I've never met Chris and Brie, so I don't know. I can't speak for him, but I think it's very comparable to that or he just feels like that sense of ease. And I wrote in my notes between Chris and Bree like there's just this comfort level that I think couples who are really in love and just really feel that connection, it's there with them and you can see it. And so Chris, if you're listening to this podcast. Thank you for opening up more. It's just really sweet and special to hear somebody you know, going through similar things. And I'm sure there's people out there who have definitely lost parents and who can feel some sort of can can relate to Chris a little bit in that sense, and so it was it was a sweet moment between them. I love the word you use, Becca, comfortable, right. It's it's not easy, is what I hear. I think maybe even Brees said, Oh, it's so easy, but it's it's not that it's easy. It's just that there's you're comfortable, almost like you've been here before, and that is something that you can't fake, you can't force. It just is it's almost not even learned. You just either have it or you don't. You just have to feel it with that person. And it's so completely what bringing Chris have with each other is so completely different than what we are seeing with Maddie and Route, Matt, Mattie, we can find them Matt and Rudy. So yeah, no, you're right, You're right, And I feel like Matt is looking like stop forcing it, you know, like let's just let it be. And I think Rudy struggles with that because she does open up and say at one point, I'm a person who goes all in and falls really quickly, and that's not Matt, and so a lot of times that's this is where the love language comes in. This is where any of Graham numbers come in, because you understand the personality of a person and just how they feel loved, which is so then you know how to give love to them. Anyways, Trevor and Jamie, Now, Trevor and Jamie not my favorite couple. I'm just gonna be honest us well, not thinking top bringing Chris. Let's be honest. It's not but I like Matt Rudy more than I like Trevor. It's it's not it's not that it's I don't want to say that. It's very superficial to me. That's how it comes across. I do believe they really like each other, but it's so puppy love to me, and I really want to before I go in on Trevor and Jamie's relationship, what what did you think of their date? What did you think of them? Expressions of love that were made in the kind say, well, so, we obviously do see. I mean, Jamie's head over heels for Trevor, like she is all in. Like if Trevor got down on one knee on that ice rank and proposed to Jamie, she would say, hell, yes, get me to the Little White Chapel, swap the dates with Brie and Chris. But I think from and I can only kind of compare their relationship to the other relationships that were see and so, for instance, with Brie and Chris, they have deep conversations that hold some weight, that they're like actually getting to know one another and seeing who each other are. And I feel like with Jamie and Trevor, there's there's not much depth to it. And like you said, maybe it is surface level. Maybe it's just poppy love. I mean, I think that they like each other and they like spending time with each other. Is their relationship one that's going to be lasting, I personally don't think so. And we've said this. I think week after week. Jamie obviously is the youngest one, and I think you just kind of start to see that on the show. I think she's only twenty one, and I just want to like take her and be like live your life for a little bit do you don't like focus so much on a relationship and like making one person so happy, Like I just think she has some more growth to do in life. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. Like the expressions of love, when they both said I'm falling in love, I think she's there, I don't necessarily know if he's fully there. May give it to me I have. First of all, I say this every week. Jamie should have been on The Bachelor. She she narrates the show, she shows all the emotion, she goes head over hill, She's quick to express feelings of love. Jamie's on the wrong show. That being said, when Jamie's like, I'm gonna tell him, I want to tell At first I thought she wasn't gonna tell him, but then she's like, Okay, I'm gonna tell him. First of all, I did think their date was super cute ice skating. It was very romantic, very just all about them. The fact that he used to be a play hockey. I thought that was cute that he could kind of show off in that sense. And of course you know she can pretend like she can't skate and he can hold her and grabs It's very it was very cute. Good job, good job production for putting that together. But we see them sit down and you see Trevor say she says she's falling in Did she say she was falling in love? No? Maybe she did, she didn't know. So he says, oh, I'm very I'm big on that word. I've only said it to two people. It means a lot to me, and I just wanted you to know that. And she's like okay, which was weird because she thought he was gonna say I love you and he didn't or falling in love. But then she still is like, you know what, I'm all in, Jamie. You know, I remember Prime Bachelor contestant is like as it, I'm going all in. I'm gonna say that I'm falling in love. And then he looks at her and he says, I'm falling in love too. And in that moment, I said, I see you, Trevor, I see what you did there. I believe Trevor only told Jamie's already like, you know Violet. I told you she's Violet from Coyote Ugly, can't fight the moonlight, right, she has stays right, She's insecure on stage age singing. They've had two performances, they've both sucked, and he knows that if I don't tell her match her in her feelings, we're toast. We're going home tomorrow because there's no way that she's going to perform. She's not feeling confident. I need to give her something. That is why he told her, I'm falling in love with her, and you see what happens at the end of the episode. So I think it was strategic in a sense that it's not that I'm falling in love with you, it's just what you really need to hear right now, Yeah, to keep it going. Well, And that's the same well like I think for some of the couples, I genuinely feel like they like each other. And then for some of the couples, I feel like they're kind of working their way up to know what they should be doing or saying to make it to the next round and make it to the next week and keep going. And yeah, I mean again, and I think too, like I was thinking about this too, because I remember at the beginning of the season with Trevor, when Natasha came in, he had this whole scandal of the ex girlfriend that he cheated on, and I mean since then, people have kind of forgotten about that because he had this relationship that was growing with Jamie and it looks like they like each other. But I don't know. I don't know if in the back of my head, if I was Trevor, I'd be thinking, like, Okay, what do I gotta do to seem more real, to seem like I actually want to make this work with this girl and to kind of redeem himself in a way. That's one thing that I that week by week, I'm like, I'm not forgetting what was said those first couple of weeks. That's still a thing that people just forget about now that he's happy with Jamie. But that's another thing to keep in mind. Maybe he's it's his way to kind of boost himself up and redeem himself. Yeah, I think he likes her, but not I think he likes her in this world that's just like that I really like and she's way more into him. Yeah. Yeah, it's obvious and they kind of Everybody kind of alludes to it. I will say, though, Rachel their date, I had one of my dates with the guys in Vain. I guess there too, and it's a it's a really cool venue. You went. I still we went. Well, I'm trying to think if I went on the ice with any of the guys. We had the whole arena, so we like had the cocktail party up top. But um, it's it was on my birthday. And it was where as they were walking into their arena, you see like their names on the side, and that's where Blake first told me that he was falling in love with me on my birthday. So walking and I'm like, oh god, this place again. Okay, oh that's where you no, no, no, no, but I mean I didn't even put that together. You totally did go to Vegas. Yeah, well, that's that's why I wanted Wayne Newton on a date. That's why I just remember Chris losing his shit on was in a Vegas where he lost it, like he was like on stage, like Los. It wasn't that Vegas where he had to perform. They were performing. Yes, okay, guys, that's what I remember about you guys head to sing and oh my god, they all hated it. They were mortified, and I loved it. It was so good watching them sweat. It was funny. That was a funny. That was a funny day. Um okay, So speaking of performances, our guy, our new best friend, Shaggy is performing on the date with Matt and Rudy, which was really cool and that's probably, to me, the most fun day that we saw out of the four. Uh yeah, so they are He says, Rudy's the perfect girl to go on the date with him, and you can see that they're having fun. They're dancing, they're kissing, they get to go on stage and sing. And I thought that this was good for them because it was so lighthearted. Yeah, as opposed to the Trevor and Jamie date where it was romantic and they were forced to, you know, talk about really heavier things. This was like guys just like Rudy, not guys. Rudy just lighting up and have a good time and you know this man likes you. Yeah. I think it was a good distraction. I think that a specifically was the best for them. Like I cannot picture like Trevor Or Ryan going to a Shaggy concert, Like I just can't picture it. So I'm glad that I said, they picked Matt and Rudy for her to kind of let loose, get on stage, just dance, have fun. You know, you can't really think too much about like, oh, it's it, gonna tell me he loves me? Well it was, well, it only lasted. It only lasted for a few minutes, so stopped. She was like, okay, now listen. I was so mad, and I was like, Rudy, no, I couldn't even even okay. So for all of you, let me just say Rudy sits him down and she's like, you know what, I'm gonna channel my inner Jamie and I'm just gonna go for it, and I'm gonna tell him how I feel and I'm falling in love with you, Matt. And the whole time, if you read Matt's face, he looked like, don't do it. He's like, he's like, how do I get out of this conversation? Somebody get me a beer? What do I gonna do? Make her stop? Make her stop? And then she says it and he's like, what did he say? Did you write it down? Because it was awful, Rachel. I'm not gonna lie. I think I fell asleep for like two minutes during this conversation. Then you missed the whole thing. But I mean I could tell the second they sat down he was off. He was like, fuck, I don't want to have this conversation right now. You could just feel it. Every week people want us to talk about editing. They're like, you know how it is, you don't see everything. And I hate to do that because we obviously this has to be edited, but I we aren't there, We aren't pretty to that information, and so I don't like to assume, but I'm going to go ahead and assume here that ChRI Chris Matt actually said more to Rudy in this moment than they showed. I literally think he goes, okay, it was a lie, and she's just like, wait what I mean? It was that quickly they moved past it. And I think if he really, if his response really was that harsh, I don't think that she would have been able to move forward. But I was more mad at her. You know how he feels. You know, he's not ready, he wants to take things slow. You've had this whole y'all got an extra date more than anybody else, and you still put this on him. I just was like, Rudy, you have to be able to read the room. Read the person you're with, read the relationship. This was not the time and place to bombard him with this I'm going to put it. I'm going to say that conversation with Jamie, between Jamie and Rudy, God, that's what got to her and that's what made her get to that point and had that conversation not happened and had Jamie uppen like, you're gonna regret it if you don't. It's like sometimes it's better to keep things in and wait for the right moment. Yeah, well, yeah, nobody knows your relationship like you do. I can tell you everything that has happened the best of my memory that between me and Brian Becca and still won't know our relationship because you aren't in it. You're not a part of it. And the only people who really know what are the two people that are in it. So Rudy should have been taken what Jamie said, but but should have said, you know what, I know Matt, and I know that Matt isn't going to be comfortable with this, So I just need to do things on the time that are of our relationship, like the journey of our relationship and how it's moving. Um Anyways, so we see Matt and Ryan in an awkward place, and my first thought is, Matt, if you take Rudy away from us because you didn't reciprocate the feelings I've had, it, I will not be here next week to recap. I'm not gonna lie. So Rudy and I DM quite a bit because obviously, yes I'm not a RUPI i am, and I just like, I don't know, maybe I was a decent singer in a past life. I don't know, but there's I love Rudy, like just something about her and I I texted her or message her, and I was like, if Matt does anything to end this relationship and you don't sing, I'm going to be so upset. But yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I'm like, you guys, just like, hold on a little bit longer, Like, don't have this conversation right now, because I still want you to perform together. I'm like, if you take her away from us, Matt, if you dare do it, don't do it, Matt, just don't. So then we move on to the most exciting couple of before Natasha and Ryan, and they're so exciting that we don't even get to watch them get their day card. We go straight into we go straight into the action of them digging or messing up cars and smashing stuff because there is no spark, there is nothing that's of interest. So they literally try to do something that was like dramatic and where they're like separated and throwing cars around. Yeah. I mean, it's like, this is what an arranged marriage looks like. That's what I feel like. I mean, I don't even really remember much other than her him saying he's quiet. Yeah, we got that. Ryan. You know, they sit down, have a conversation, I guess try to explain I feel like, to the audience what the dynamic of their relationship is. They're just there. They are two people who are just on different wavelengths. Like there, I get that opposite's attract and that you can be very different in a relationship to make it work. I mean, Garrett and I are so different, but they I don't know, they just don't match up. And I think, like, like you said, in an arranged marriage, like this is the thing where like Natasha's like okay, just like let me seal the show. You play the guitar, and we'll make it work. Yeah, there's nothing more to it. It's just like I keep saying, a friendship, but honestly, outside of the show, I don't even think that they would be friends. No, God, though they wouldn't be friends. I've creeked on both their instagrams and I was like, absolutely not so yeah, and that I feel like, now that's what spills into their performance. You know, we've seen it so far, it's still been a little disjointed. I don't think they've ever really connected. They're really harmonized well on stage. She's good in her own right, He's good in his own right. And then it just becomes it explodes and their performances, which we gotta get into. The judges that we have this week. We've got the lead singer of Train, Pat Monahan. We've got Ashley Simpson Ross and Evan Ross, and then we've got Ari and Laurent and they're they're representing the Bachelor franchise in this and so the performance seemed really excited about really excited about Train. They were the most excited about Hat being there, which I thought was great. I don't know a lot of Trains music. I think I knew one song I have seen trained in context what I'm saying. See, Oh God, they're so good life too. So for all of you out there who are dating and you're trying to find a way to connect with somebody, I suggest music because I am really connecting with Becca these last four weeks. Oh. For music, you get really learn a lot about somebody. I'm telling you. Okay, so I learned that one song about Train or one song from Train, but okay, Beck, of seeing them singing for me, what one? What's the one? I think it's them? Um? Is it hey? So Sister? Oh? Okay, maybe too? Okay, maybe the Josta jubor mhm is it called drops? Yeah? I think that's their, like top, I love my number one hit? Um so that one? And then okay, Soul Sister so too? Hey. I guarantee you you know more if you heard them. No, I don't know about that. You got you got lucky with Soul's sister Lucky. But the but the contestants are super excited about that, which is great. I always love when they geek out over who they're going to be performing in front of. So Brian Chris go up first and they sing again. Can't help falling in love um, probably the only eldest song that I like m And when they started off, I was like, this was the two minutes you should have fallen asleep in. And I like Brie and Chris, so I don't want to And I actually really liked this song and I was like, ah, and then they took it up a notch and well they did rage To say the least, I will say the beginning and in my notes I said it started okay, That's what I wrote. And of course they like they're in love, they have that connection. But at I think when he when he started singing, at first, I was like, honey, what's going on? Like usually you're better than this. But when they changed, when changed the key, changed the temple, like bumped it up a notch at the end. I really liked how they took their own spin on things and switched it up for them. Now we'll get into what Natasha and Ryan did in a little bit, but for Chris and Brie in that song, I thought it was like the right amount of like their own little spice and twist on it. It was the best we've heard Chris sing. When Chris changed it up, and I thought, God, they haven't been giving Chris songs that really highlight his voice. Lover Taylor Swift can't help falling in love. I mean, it does start off slow, and I don't even remember the first song that they sang, so it's I feel like these songs haven't been great for Chris, They've been better for Bree. So when they changed it up, I thought, well, there he is, there's Chris on stage. I felt like before he's just been complimenting her, which has still been really sweet to watch. So I thought this was a good performance halfway through to the end, which is kind of what the judges feedback was. I mean, Pat said he was moved by their performance. I think all the judges really enjoyed it, and we did too. Submit I think it was and I think it was smart to have Brie and Chris go first, because I mean, there's only four couples left. Do you want to start it off? I think, like from a production standpoint, you want to start it off kind of high and strong, because the other three, for the most part, are a little bit shakier, and so I think to start them and be like, Okay, this is kind of like the level we're aiming for and then let's go from there. I think made sense. Yeah yeah, And I think yeah, I would We've seen We've seen Rudy and Matt go first twice, so that, yeah, we needed to change it up a bit. So here comes Jamie and Trevor. I don't even if we should call her Jamie because she is a brand new woman. I mean, she's got pep in her step, she is smiling, she has all the confidence in the world, which it's great, and I'm sure that was great for Trevor too, because he's like, whoa telling her I'm falling in love with her? Paid off? Thank goodness, I didn't do it in vain, so they it gave her the confidence that she needed. And maybe he snuckr some CBD drops in her dream maybe whatever, did it works? You know? Did I really like their performance all that much? Not necessarily. I really didn't vibe with the song, but I was happy to see Jamie confident. It was refreshing to watch her. Yes, and I'm glad that she's kind of starting to feel more comfortable. And when anyone gets some confidence, I think it's a beautiful thing. And so to see her complete one eighty from last week was great, but the beginning, like cuddle thing stage was cringeworthy. Rachel, Oh my gosh, I had to do a double take and I was like, no, just sing, don't shoot this. It wasn't smooth, It wasn't no, it was not it wasn't cute. I also noticed that Jamie has a heavy hand, and by that I mean every time she puts her hand on Trevor's face neck, it's heavy. It's almost like she slaps him. She doesn't. There's not it doesn't caress, it's not gentle, she doesn't stroke it, she slaps that hand off. I wish people could see Rachel right now on this recording because like the way that you're making your hand so light is beautiful. But dude, I would do the same thing. I have heavy hands too. Plays y'all have that in comment. Y'all got a hell of a handshake. I don't know what the hell to do with my hands. So she's luck. Please just go back and watch the cliff. Yeah, like, loosen it up, caress him, be gentle with it, tender with it. Yeah boom. I mean I bet his voice with shit. I didn't even catch that part, but I bet his voice shakes when she does it too. Yeah, I will agree with you. It wasn't my favorite performance. It wasn't my favorite song. Um this though for me it was the first time that I felt like Trevor hellad it down and performed above above her. I don't know, something like and she's a great singer. They're just I don't know. It didn't do it for me. Well, Pat called her nervous and awkward, and I thought, I don't know if that's a compliment, if you're saying she's quirky and like that's her style. But I was like, geez, yikes. I mean, but he didn't say it in a mean way. Okay, Natasha and Ryan yike. Yeah, when they started off, Okay, first of all, Annie Grammar said last week and this didn't make the cut, but he said Ryan is more comfortable singing when he has a guitar in his hand, So when he started off without the guitar, I thought, oh God, here we go, and then he grabbed it. But that turned out to be a huge mistake. The entire thing. It was just like a what is happening moment for me? Yeah, and you know, if the viewers will remember, like when they first got their songs before they actually performed it. Ryan was sitting there and he's like, yeah, I kind of want to make this my own, which I get as a musician, and if you feel comfortable and you're able to do that, go for it. This though, was not it. Yeah, I don't know what the heck was going on up there. It was like fourteen songs and styles wrapped up into one performance and it was off. I mean yeah. Shout out to the cameraman who caught the drummer's facial expression when he was like, I'm sorry, what am I doing? Which beat do I catch? Because I mean it was so I don't I didn't even realize they were singing perfect anymore. That's how off it was. And Natasha's later you hear her say I messed it up. I sang the wrong part. I don't even think that was it. I mean, you are working with a musical director and a band, and you have rehearsals for a reason. It's almost as if they were like, you know what, let's just make this our own. I don't even think that's the ship. They practiced in rehearsals. They just got up there and were like we're gonna self eliminate because that's what That's basically what it seems like it was. I did not understand what was happening in that performance. As Randy said, best, it's a no for me dog. Yeah, yeah, yeah it was. It was awful. I mean, this sounds really bad, but obviously we have favorites when it comes to this, and we are both big Rudy fans, and I remember thinking, Okay, Rudy and Matt can be on the chopping block because they're they don't have chemistry, they seem to be off. But when Natasha and Ryan didn't succeed in their performance, I thought, and we're back. We're gonna get Rudy another week. You know what. Between those two, I feel like I get a very Christina a Ulera vibe but with Natasha, and then a huge John Mayer vibe with Ryan, and I just don't think they match. Yeah they don't. They don't. They they're they're they're equally great in their own right. They don't. I don't think they're meant to perform with people, and apparently they're not meant to perform with a band as well. After what we have on stage, Yes, so then we get into judges didn't like it either, we get into the performance of the night. I mean, it's so not fair that Rudy and Matt get the best songs, but they also get the best songs because they are the best together on stage. They are light years ahead of everybody else as far as harmonizing and the way that they mesh and blend on stage. Dare I say it, Becca, They sounded better than Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper together. Now, Lady, I'm not saying Rudy sounds better than Lady Gaga by herself. I'm saying together, because let's admit, Braddie Hooper's not a singer. He took singing lessons for five months to just be able to sing that part. They were better as they I'm glad that you brought up the harmony because I'm like a seventh grader when I take notes. But around this sentence that I wrote, I put little hearts all around it. But I said that harmonizing was gold. They did so well together. And I don't even think like you can't come stylistically. I think Lady Gaga and Rudy are so different, So you can't even really compare them. But what they did on stage, people was I would pay to see a concert and to just have those who sing that song twelve times in a row. It was amazing and and I'd be fine with it. It was so good they and sorry, go ahead good, I was gonna say. After they performed. The part that I really enjoyed was when they were separate. They were interviewing, and Matt said, this was the cute part that I wish if Rudy could see, like he likes you. He might not be where you're up, but he likes you because he was like, man, when Rudy just went off and took that note and went hard, it was so good. And like the way that he was talking about her performing together, It's like that's what she needs to hear and see. And like seeing that I think was more special than hearing him sit there and like try to come like say bake words to Yeah. The problem is that Rudy is comparing their relationship to other people's in the house and thinking that they're behind. If they were outside of this, it would be just fine. But she's they're not as fast as other people, and that's that's the problem. I think Jamie said there they're a slow burn, And I like the way that she said that, because that's actually true. No, the way Rudy and at saying it. They put a little R and B soul on it, the way they would end it like I guess each bar however you want to say it like it was. It was beautiful. At one point I go oh, and then I'm watching it Evan Ross, it was like, oh, it was like exactly pretty much did you catch did you catch her wink? When she started singing the second verse and it's kind of talking about like are you scared boy? Whatever the words are, I don't know, but and she kind of gives him this like sassy little wink and I was like, yes, girl. But it was good. It was so it was so good. So it wasn't fair. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair to let them sing first. It just wasn't God. They said the best for last, right, and so we already kind of alluded to it. But there's a rose ceremony and no surprise here. After watching that performance, Natasha and Ryan go home. It was sad to see Natasha get emotional and say she messed it up for Ryan and she hopes he's not mad at her, which made me think, well, she really does care about him, you know, it's just not love. Yeah, I think outside of this show they're going to go on and do great things, just not together, right, that together? And that's you're right. And so now we move on to the final three and we'll see what happens next. We are so excited to have you on The Bachelor. Had our podcast today and we can't wait to see all that you have to say on the show. First and foremost, though, I want to ask, were you a fan of The Bachelor, Badcheloride or Paradise before all of this, Yes, the Bachelor yet, Yes, I did not watch Bachelor in Paradise, but yeah, I mean there's always something to talk about it. It's always a wonderful interest warts carefully, that's just like from a major nicely. Yes, yes, Well, how was your time on Listen to your Heart and being one of the guest judges. To be honest with you, it's it's hard. I love um, I love music, I love songwriting, I love singing, so I was really excited about the concept of the show. And being a judge is very judging. It's hard to judge, like you know, because what you think in your head and what you want to say. Um. For me, I want to always find something positive to say. And it was finale, so it was a big decision. All the judges have to decide and choose, as you know, who gets to stay and who gets to go. So there's some pressure involved. But I think everybody is going to be what's the word. I think it'll be clear to everybody who the winner is. Okay, okay, that's I mean, that's a big hint. That's a big hint. So we um I judge two weeks before you, and I do agree with you, but I'm extremely opinionated. But I found it hard when it came time to deliberate and figure out. Okay, but who actually has to go home? I didn't want that job. I didn't want that pressure. I can't imagine, you know, having to do it at the finale. But I do have to say that we know that you have a love and a knowledge of music, and specifically country music, and we're told, because we'ven't seen everything yet, but we're told that you light up with every single performance just because of the passion that you have. When did all of this start for you? Well? I started to so I'm writing about seven years ago, and then I did. It was because another songwriter, Kara Diagardy, said to me, you should write songs, and I was like, well, I don't read music or playing instrument. She said, it's okay, do you have something you want to say? And when she said that, it was like, yes, this is about telling stories and that's one of the reason why I love country music so much, is because there's so much great storytelling in there. So she wrote my first two songs with me and then I just started writing and going down in Nashville a lot and writing down there, and to me, it's been one of the most rewarding things. And I feel like, I don't know, I feel like I'm my most truest self when I'm writing a song or when I'm singing. Well. So I have a question because you mentioned Nashville, and obviously the episode that you're on takes place in Nashville, and obviously it produces so many artists, so much musical talent just within that city. What is it? Is there just something like magical with Nashville and musicians. What is it? Yeah, Nashville is a city that reveres songwriters and reveres musicians. It's called music city for a reason. It's just you walk down the street and there's music coming out of all of these bars and clubs, and everybody working there wants to be a musician or a songwriter. And I was talking to Jimmy Allen, the amazing country singer and songwriter, and he said he was sleeping in his car, you know, while he was trying to make it in Nashville, and now he's you know, all over the radio. So I think it's a place where you feel those dreams living in people and it's really exciting. People are really nice there too. I just I just love going down. Yeah, it's so go ahead. Oh, I was just going to agree. I've only been to Nashville once. My fiance and I took a trip there right after my season surprisingly and we're there for four days. And I'm from a very small town in Minnesota, but it felt like, you know, as big as the city is, it still felt connected and you kind of have like the small town vibe and that just the comfortable illness and um, the welcome, Like we felt so welcome there. So I fell in love with the city. So I get why people go there, why they want to produce music and perform there. It's just a really special place. I heard that it's now the number one destination for bachelorette parties. Oh yes, did you see Do you see the buses that they have these big buses with the tops down and everyone screaming and hockey buses. I don't know what they're called buses or carts or something where you're like it's a bar and breaking. It's like it is blasting, you know, very funny. It's such a good time. I was there, well, now my husband with my fiance at the time, we were there for the draft and um, yeah we were We went out to celebrate. My husband goes, I think I'm going to have my bachelor party here, and I thought, what are you looking at? What's making you look around a thing? This is where I need to have my bachelor party. He loved it. But I'm from Dallas, but I went to school in Austin and it's very much so reminds me of Austin. I feel like it is the news. And Austin's another music city. I mean, they just got incredible music and they have the film Festival and south By Southwest and so, I mean, I don't know, there's something just really fun about Nashville. It's beautiful too. Yeah, let's face it. And you know you're outside more if you're going to Vegas for a bachelorette party. Literally, do you ever see the outside? There are no windows? So true, not just not justsing Vegas. I'm just thinking, like, for me, I want to have some outside times. Yeah, Vegas is tired. It's all about Nashville. Now, who inspires you? And maybe the answer is different for you. As far as when it comes to singing and then maybe songwriting, Who are your inspirations? I think there are two things. The first part of how All answered that is that stories inspire me and people inspire me. Even like on the new song that I have coming out, it's called Where's My Country Song, And it was really inspired by the women that in some ways are like my mom that worked and at home and cooked for us and sewed for us and took really good care of us and loved us. And it's also for those women who might be single parents and single mothers who are trying to get by in the world, and also for the women who are behind the scenes. You know, we don't see the people who are getting our agriculture to us or are working in a factory that are making sure that you know, our lysol wipes are being delivered to us in time. It's really uh So I look for stories that are surrounding me and write in front of me, and sometimes those stories are coming from within myself. In terms of musical influence, I love I Love Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstat, Dolly Parton, Brandy carlyle Um, the you know, the women that are doing the great storytelling right now, Um, and i'd always happen, so, um, you know, I tend to go for I guess the story. Do you When you are songwriting, do you ever or did you ever keep old journals or is that kind of where you pull some inspiration from as well? I really wish I had kept journals. I would have loved to have seen those journals like what had fifteen year old me? You know? Um, So I don't keep a journal, probably because I'm so private that I would be afraid that somebody would find it and do something posted all our Instagram back. But I keep Now I have songwriting journals, and sometimes in those journals all sorts of ideas come out. And in my phone I keep a list of you know, just song titles, song ideas, song you know thoughts, partial lyrics, full lyrics, So that sort of my phone has become sort of I guess, version of that kind of a journal. So you touched on your new single that just really is perfect time for Mother's Day honestly, um, and the lyrics itself are just lovely. But watching that lyric video, it's so beautiful with all of the old vintage clips pushed together did you have a say in how that was all portrayed and put together with the with the lyrics itself. I was really inspired by the video that John Legend put out for his song Conversations in the Dark, and that director Luke Eisner happens to be an actor as well, and so we reached out to Luke and told him what the idea was, and he I said, I'd like to do a similar thing to Conversations in the Dark, but I'd really like to highlight women women throughout the decades in America and what they've really done to keep our country going, to keep their families going, and and sometimes they're unseen. You know. I'm a first generation American, and my mom and dad both had accents, and I saw sometimes that my mom or my dad worked could be invisible, and particularly my mom because she didn't have a job, and she wasn't you know, she was American, but she wasn't a typical American because she wasn't raised here. So I remember having a sort of like being able to observe the differences in sort of what people do, like my mom, even though she might have been treated sometimes with not a lot of respect because of her accent. She was my hero. She was the person who was I mean, I looked up to her and I thought she was amazing. So when people sort of sent a message that they didn't think she was amazing, that really infuriated me because it's like, no, you don't understand. She's raising three kids, and she cooks fresh meals for us every day, and she's doing our laundry, and she's sewing our buttspreads and our clothes and you know. So I really that experience in a way taught me to empathize with people who sometimes may not have the spotlight put on them for really the value that they bring to our country. I think that is so beautiful. Um, I'm trying not to be like political, so I'm trying to move it around. We should use our voices. It's like it's very important to do that. Like that's what fine when you get to be my age is like I'm just saying what I want to say from melon because do I have left. I want to be able to say the truth. And we got to pay it forward for the next generation. Yeah, and I and I and I say, and I love your message, and I say, I'm trying not to be, but I totally am. But I'm like emotional right now, just because there's a lot going on in the country and I have been vocal about it on social media and I've just it's it strikes accord with me that you're using your platform in such a beautiful way to give a voice to the voiceless. And I'm so excited for everyone to hear your single on Friday, and I'm so excited that you have this video that portrays it and displays it as well. Um. I love though that your interest in music is also so deeply rooted in stories and and and writing about stories. And I wonder, because we'll ask you this question a little bit too about different genres of music. But has it always been country music for you because of the stories or are you interested in other genres as well? Totally interested in other genres because the genre isn't isn't the thing, It's the story. So you look for the stories within the genre, Like if you look at the Beatles, for example, and a song like She's Leaving Home, you know she's getting up this young girl and she's going to go off with some guy that she met in the motor trade. It's like, no come back, and what are her parents doing? They're like a note in the morning that their daughter has left. Like that was heartbreaking to me. And then also you look at something like even hip hop or Ray like to me that was like learning a whole different language and almost shake experience and it's but it's also it was really about the story of giving props to hip hop and all of the people that came before Naughty by Nature that has a story in it as well. For me, a country music was one of those things. But there was also a song by like Bread that was this song called Everything I Own And I remember driving in the car with my mom and the song is really about loss. It's about losing someone. I think who died, and I think who's died. I guess it could be a relationship. But my mom and I were driving in the car and she's like, in her Greek accent, do you know what this song is about? Well, I don't know. I was really young, and she says, what do you think is about? I said, I think it's about somebody, you know, losing a boyfriend or something, and she's like, I think it's about somebody who somebody in that and I you know, having those conversations with my mom driving to the car, I think also helped formulate how I look at heard music and what the visuals were to it. You know, it can be anything from an upbeat song, you know, like look love Child, Diana Ross. What an amazing song to sing about. You know, a woman who gets pregnant out of wedlock, but she doesn't mean she doesn't love her child, right, it's still child. And even Tammy Wynette when she sang d I v O r CE, I mean nobody they had to spell it out because nobody could talk about getting a divorce, right, that's what the child wouldn't hear. So to me, it's it's really about what are they really trying to say here? You know, just gonna say you know, in sync redid the song everything I Own. That's how That's how I first heard it, Yes on their first album. Yes, if I am thinking of this song, I would give everything. I want to give up my life, my heart, my home just to have just to have you back again. Rachel. Yes, it's safredid it. I know, I'm just it's it's so amazing and I'm glad that we can see you and talk to you on Zoom for this podcast because just to see like how much you lad up even when you talk about the music and the genres and the storytelling. It's so inspiring and it's something that Rachel and I touched on I think a few weeks ago. Music has such a unique way to touch people in different ways, and there are certain songs that you hear, like when you were driving with your mom and heard that song, that you remember the exact day where you were, maybe what you were wearing, what you were feeling, and it's one of the few things. Music is one of the few things that can really touch people in that way that you just can't even explain it. And so I love talking to you and hearing your take on things and seeing your passion for it. It's really special. Thank you. I really hope you know now that when watching the show, listen to your heart. I really hope that they incorporate if it goes to season two, more original music, because I think that's where the real connection is going to be and where some of the tension will be too, because when you're writing a song, it is incredibly intimate and incredibly revealing, and so maybe there's a way to do a cover song and an original song. Because I at the finale, which you won't see. I don't think that they will air it on the finale, but they're one couple sang one of their original songs or part of one of their original songs, and it was so good, and that, to me is really showing who that person is, because look, I've done cover songs. I did a whole album of cover songs called AMFM, And it's very specific to try to interpret someone else's song. But when you're writing your own song and then you're writing with someone you're involved with, that's going to be a whole different thing. So I hope that they try to do that, you know, moving forward. I couldn't do it. We talk about this in the podcast. I could not dat a musician a song write you sing one note one lyric about me, and I'm I'm like putty in your hands. I can't. I would not be they can't. They cannot incorporate that. It would be beautiful, but I would be like, I can't be a judge. I can't be a judge. Brian's gonna have to hold me back. But you you you touched on this, and so I have to ask you the story behind this. You mentioned hip hop poray, we saw it, We saw it on your Instagram. It went viral, it was everywhere. But how did you learn the lyrics to that? And are you a hip hop fan? And totally a hip hop fan? I have. I have to thank my son chet Haggs for that because in the nineties he was really into hip hop and um the uh. It took me a month to learn that song. I had to learn it two lines at a time and then build on those two lines because nothing made sense to me, Like what what is mapping? I don't know? You know what is open? What is OPB? There? I had to go to like Urban's dictionary, like I don't know, but there was nothing about it that had any sort of consistency. So each line was different, each rhythm was different, and I had to get it in my body because it just didn't like I couldn't. I couldn't figure it out. And it made me have such enormous respect for hip hop because it's really hard to do. And and that's all written. Somebody wrote that that's flow that they got to do, But it's also again and storytelling and so, and that storytelling is coming from a very truthful place and something that's very authentic to the songwriter. And that's why earlier when you asked me about genre, it's like it doesn't really matter story you know, country is really known for storytelling, but every genre has storytelling. And you know, look at Al Green, I mean Al Green amazing stories in his songs, Marvin Gay, the Beach Boys, you name it. They're all out there, but there's there's stories. And then singer songwriters came into the mix, you know, like in the late sixties, early seventies, and it became very very personal. Um yeah, yeah, you can get me talking about songwriting. I'll be talking about it. That song will never set because I'll be talking about Well, the videos on your Instagram account of you with the hip hip hop right so good. You nailed it. You fooled me because it seemed to come so naturally. It was awesome. Garrett and I by fiance. I was showing him the videos today and he's like, holy crap, she can sing fast. I'm like, he said, sing fast, that's Garrett for you. Um. I loved it. One last thing before I asked me to come and perform with them live sometimes, so as soon as towards oh yeah, and believe me I'm doing that, I wouldn't have to you have to go on stage and sing hip hop away with that's I just want to be in the background waving my hands like they do in the video. Rachel and I will be your hype woman in the back right. Um, one last thing I want to ask you before we go or talk about. You performed at stage Coach last year. Now you may not know this, but Stagecoach is a big deal in Bachelor Nation. There's a lot of drama that surrounds specifically, last year's stage Coach really could have been because of you. Who knows it was. It was very incestuous in the Bachelor family and it's spilled over into Bachelor in Paradise. It was a huge storyline. But it's such an honor to perform at a stage coach. Obviously it didn't happen this year, So if you could just tell us what that was like, since we know our listeners love stage coach and maybe what you're looking forward to when you do it next year, because we're putting it out there, you'll be there next year as well. Yeah, let's put it out there when boring is back up and festival backup. Got to do it again. Stage Coach was amazing, like and I have to say that last year, which was really exciting, they made a concerted effort because there's a woman who was one of the people who's programming Stage Coach and she's like, we have to have more women in Stage Coach because the year before I think there were like two women or something and it was all an all male lineup. So a lot of women in the last couple of years have been programmed I mean festivals. I did one in Chicago called Lake Shape that we had all Friday night. Was an all female lineup Miranda Lambert, Marion Morris, Lauren, Elena and that was incredible. So that's one thing I want to say, But it was also just incresible. I don't know. I love performing outdoors and I love performing in that warm desert wind that's just like lofting over you and it's a breeze and people are all happy and you know, sitting on each other's shoulders and you know, waving and singing along and it's an incredible festival. And backstage they set up your backstage area in trailers, but kind of in a circle and they create a little patio living room area. So in our circle was Lynyrd, Skinnered and Cam myself, Michael Ray and it was super fun, you know, because it's like, yeah, maybe I should do a song with Skinner, like just why not? I think I should just be going with all the legends and you know, hardcore southern country roll. And it's like we felt so comfortable talking to her. I mean she We're literally sitting in our closets, like we're sitting in our closa talking to Rina Wilson like that's happy hours. Step Okay, I will say, because I'm okay. I've made this comment in the past that you could not pay me enough to go to stagecoach, but if Rina Wilson was performing, I would go to see her. Yeah, I think that there's certain So I am a closet pun intended nineties country music fan like big time, and I have actually went to country musical Words was in Dallas for one year and there was a preconcert and they paired up New School with old School and it was the best thing ever because I'm listening to Clint Black and Alan Jackson and Dena Carr and like, that's the country music that I like, and it is more of storytelling than the pop that it is now. So to hear her say she's in like an artist circle with Leonard Skinner and Cam I love Cam Cam. Yeah, I'm like, see that's I would go for that. I go for that. I'm just not into the newer aged country music, which I got reamed, by the way for saying I listen to swiftye a social media. But here's the thing. Music has changed. I mean in enny genre, it's changed her the years, and so I love how she goes back to the basics and it is truly about that storytelling because that's like where the heart of a song is. So and I think along the way sometimes people lose it. You add in like all these I don't even want to get into it, like the electronic tech whatever it might be. M it just it's pop. It's pop, and it just takes away I think from that story. And so I love how she focuses on that. I will say Rachel, if Rita Wilson and Stevie Nicks got together to perform, I would probably need a coffin, I would have a heart attack. It would be performance gold, storytelling gold, because one thing that they both have in common, I think is storytelling, because I've seen Stevie Nicks perform and she just has so many stories in between each set that she plays, and so those two together would be phenomenal. So I'm just I'm gonna put it out there. No, I love it, and I might be going off a little bit. But did she tell the story of how she came up with Landslide? I don't remember if she told that one, So I don't know if I'm making Landslide is one of my favorite songs. And the reason it is is because I don't know if I made this up, dreamed it, or read it somewhere, but I read that she I think I read that she was about to give up on music and was like sitting in a coffee shop and looking at it, like looking out the window and there's a mountain there, And that's what the lyrics are about. She's talking to music. Will I've been making changes. I've lived my life around you, like she's talking to the music. And I guess whatever it is, the Landslide brought her back down like brought her back right to where she needed to be to continue on the path. I don't know if I made that up or not, but it's I love dreamer songs and I love I like Somewhere Over the Rainbow is one of my favorite songs. Anyways, I don't know if I made that up at that, but now go back and listen to the song, knowing that, knowing what Stevie Nicks brings to the music world and that she was about to give it all up, and through that she wrote Landslide. And that is why Rita Wilson's interview is so important, because it is all about storytelling, and when you find out the story and the reason behind the song, it just makes it so much more written. It does it does, it makes them special. And again, like what I said a little bit ago is music has this way to uniquely touch you and to make you remember things and see things in a different light that nothing else can do. And so I mean I loved having her on and hearing her passion about it because it's like you can talk to people and everyone has a different way that they bond and connect with their music, and hers is just a really beautiful thing. So yeah, again, we were lucky to have her on. We were Yeah. So where's my country song? Her new single that just came out. It has this lovely lyrical lyric video with it, so check it out.
