I don't know, it's not going anywhere. 00:02:46 Speaker 7: We'll back them out. 00:02:46 Speaker 4: Oh wow. That so that that's a Jasper Johnson truck. That is a heck of a truck. That's got the scratches next to. 00:02:52 Speaker 5: It customized just for him. He helped design what he went on it, and they went out and did. 00:02:56 Speaker 2: It for him. I like the blue lights on the will willis blue light. He awesome. 00:03:00 Speaker 3: Well, I may have to take that first spin eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is seven seven two seventy seven four five two five four. A massive crowd getting ready for tomorrow's game against Florida, the Cats with a chance to get all the way. 00:03:15 Speaker 2: Up to the fourth seed in the SEC Tournament. 00:03:17 Speaker 3: If they win, or all the way down to the tenth seed if they lose. One of the bigger games that Kentucky's played at home in a long time. 00:03:25 Speaker 4: Four o'clock. 00:03:26 Speaker 3: I think, Ryan Lemon, it is going to be a wild crowd in Rupperrinda. 00:03:30 Speaker 5: I think that this is an indication of hell it's gonna be get reperendermrot right, I mean senior day last game. This crowd can help project it. Remember last year's Florida game was awesome. 00:03:39 Speaker 3: What it was like at eleven am and we didn't know if anybody would come, and it's awesome. 00:03:42 Speaker 5: There's something about when Florida comes in there. Now that's where people are get gets excited. What it ended up like one hundred and six to one hundred. I think last year is great. 00:03:49 Speaker 4: I didn't even notice. 00:03:51 Speaker 3: By the way, the biggest star here, which is which is Abbey Franklin. Yeah, bro An expecting Abby Franklin sitting right here. 00:03:59 Speaker 2: Oh and then. 00:04:01 Speaker 3: Where am I? Where am I going here? They front row and I miss all three of them. 00:04:06 Speaker 2: They felt bad they couldn't make the hometown show, so they came out for this one. Abby brought our plus one there five weeks away, five weeks away? 00:04:13 Speaker 3: Family? 00:04:13 Speaker 6: Here? 00:04:15 Speaker 3: Are you getting nervous? By the way at all? 00:04:17 Speaker 2: No nerves there are like there's like a to do list that I just feel like the moment you scratch something off five weeks, I have no idea what's on the to do list? Well, I was actually talking strollers with the coaches wives back there. Strollers are a big part of it. Car seats. Look at this, I don't think it'll fit me. Oh no, that's not for you. That's where the baby, I will say a lot. 00:04:35 Speaker 3: By the way, the Drew Franklin, I'm met, is not with the coaches wives talking strollers. 00:04:41 Speaker 4: Well, I mean that is a huge change from the Drew Franklin. 00:04:45 Speaker 2: I hired a k oh the stroller is not going to buy itself. I mean we went on vacation in Miami and went stroller shopping. I even looked in the mirror, like what am I doing right now? But you got to be prepared and were exciting? 00:04:55 Speaker 4: Has he do abby? 00:04:55 Speaker 3: Is he doing a good job getting ready for Have you built a crib? 00:04:58 Speaker 8: Or? Oh? 00:04:59 Speaker 2: You should see the is done. We just got to get all the little things. It's a long list, by the way, I will say, I have to do a quick thing. A lot of people have already brought stuff for us today, and I hear there's more after the show. So I don't know if we're doing like a parking lot shower after the show, but I want to while I have the opportunity, and it's on subject. Thank you to everyone who brought some stuff this morning. 00:05:17 Speaker 3: That is very nice. Thank you all. And uh, it just occurred to me that I'm gonna have to figure out what what to get you and I don't know what babies do. 00:05:26 Speaker 7: There should be a registry, right, I mean in theory. Yeah, it just I like to go. 00:05:31 Speaker 4: I got to go. 00:05:31 Speaker 2: So you know what you're gonna get her? A hoodie and a pair of shoes. 00:05:35 Speaker 3: Yeah, joke that she wears size twelve min She's already got a good shoe game. 00:05:40 Speaker 2: Okay, already. 00:05:42 Speaker 3: Twenty two eighty seven, So Kentucky and Florida. I have not seen the spread yet, Drew, I've been pretty good at guessing these. I'm gonna is there one out. 00:05:51 Speaker 2: I looked twenty minutes ago and there wasn't all. 00:05:53 Speaker 3: Chuck, I'm gonna gus Florida eight and a half. 00:05:58 Speaker 4: Something like that. 00:05:59 Speaker 2: Exactly what I was gonna. Is that what you were gonna say? That could be way off. 00:06:02 Speaker 3: Yeah, think the same. That's probably what I think, which I would guess is probably one of the highest spreads in rupp Aerna against Kentucky, I would say it's up there for one of the highest ever. But I would bet that's about what it is. 00:06:16 Speaker 2: Uh yeah, I mean you lost by nine down there. I think Kentucky, other than the two teams to beat Florida, Kentucky's played Florida closer than anyone else in the conference. Most teams have gotten smoked by him and then getting home I would keep I'd say to be around that nine number and top of single digits. 00:06:29 Speaker 3: Well, you know, Malachai and Jasper here and so I will I don't know if they're hearing right now, but I will say, Shannon, I genuinely this is not just me saying I genuinely think Kentucky can win tomorrow. You know, watching the game, good Pop, Watching the game at Florida, I actually thought, you know, we played them really well except one little run that we gave early and then that gap kind of stayed the gap. I think with this crowd, this is a huge game for the Kentucky crowd. I think Kentucky crowd, this has to be rup at its absolute best in order for Kentucky to get a. 00:07:05 Speaker 6: Huge game tomorrow. But yeah, you go back to that game in Gainesville. Kentucky had a chance there at the end to go on a run and possibly win the game. So I do have a lot of optimism about the game tomorrow, and I think that that home crowd is going to play big into the result of it. 00:07:19 Speaker 3: Well, I mean, I see a couple of the guys who are going to play a part of it back here. And by the way, Jasper, this truck come on, now, that truck is insanely nice. 00:07:30 Speaker 2: Also, while Malacha is right there, if I may brag on him, in the Florida game, you know they're all about rebounding. Their rebounding numbers are insane. But until he got a little foul trouble. He was out rebounding their whole team in the first half. I think he finished with eleven boards. So more of that tomorrow and you can be in a good spot. 00:07:44 Speaker 3: All right, I tell you what, Let's do this, since they're here already, let's take an early break and when we come back, we'll have Malachai Moreno and Jasper Johnson join us here on KSR. We will take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Fun. 00:07:59 Speaker 4: I'm back. 00:07:59 Speaker 3: It is Nucky Sports Radio here live at Paul Miller Ford and now joined by two of Kentucky's on Malachai Moreno and Jasper Johnson. And guys, how about this crowd out here to see you guys this morning. 00:08:12 Speaker 9: This is awesome. I've never been a part of something. 00:08:14 Speaker 4: You never I bet it won't be the last time. 00:08:17 Speaker 3: You guys have have had a really amazing high school career in Kentucky and now playing at UK. Just where I'll start with you with the truck here it says Kentucky till I die. What has it been like to get to play for your home state school all year? 00:08:35 Speaker 8: It's been incredible. I mean It's something that I've jerned about since I was a little kid, and you know, coming here having a great season so far has been everything that. 00:08:45 Speaker 3: Oh well, I got a little bit a little bit too much there, Malch has same for you. I mean, you've had a great success on the floor and you've even had your mom calling into postgame shows. I mean that's how that's how big this season's gone for you. 00:08:58 Speaker 10: No, it's been awesome just enjoying it day by day, having so much fun and getting enjoy it with my boys. 00:09:04 Speaker 3: Hey, when you started the year, I don't think people really knew. Your Mom's been giving me a hard time because I said, I don't know how much you'll play this year, and then now you've ended up moving and starting. I mean, did you expect to come in and contribute like you have so far? 00:09:19 Speaker 10: I definitely knew it was gonna be a process. But I knew if I put in the hard work and just showed up every day with my heart, and I knew great things would come my way. 00:09:27 Speaker 4: Tell me, Jasper what it has been like sort of? 00:09:31 Speaker 3: You know, this season's been up and down, and up and down and up and down. What's it been like? Going through and you guys have some amazing wins, you also have some losses that have been kind of disappointing. 00:09:41 Speaker 4: What is that like to go through on a day to day basis? 00:09:44 Speaker 3: Oh, I mean it's a lot. 00:09:45 Speaker 8: It's mentally challenging for sure, But I know the guys around me, my teammates and close Pope and a whole staff, were all confident in each and of us. You know, we come in and practice every day with any elite mindset and just try to get better. 00:09:58 Speaker 2: What's a practice like with Art Pope for both of you? We don't. 00:10:01 Speaker 3: I've been to one, but it was in front of the media, so I don't know if that was different. What's it like on a day to day basis? 00:10:08 Speaker 10: I don't really know how to describe it to me, honest, I mean, it's just all about getting better, just making sure we're paying attention to detail, and just pushing each other to be the greatest version of ourselves. 00:10:19 Speaker 3: Now we've seen Jasper different versions of Mark Pope, right, we've seen him. 00:10:24 Speaker 9: Uh. 00:10:25 Speaker 3: I saw him punch of punch of board and I didn't excit. I didn't know he had that any What did that? Did you see that? Coming. 00:10:32 Speaker 8: Nah, definitely not. I mean, y'all, everybody says close Pope is a nice guy. I mean, yeah, he is, but there's definitely times where he brings somebody so there's some screaming in it. 00:10:41 Speaker 9: Yeah. 00:10:42 Speaker 8: Yeah, he gets to that Patino mindset and goes crazy, going, you know, practics and stuff like that. 00:10:48 Speaker 3: But how many times does he say Rick Patino if he's I feel like, how many times do you hear about Patino? Man? 00:10:55 Speaker 8: He always talks about how the times where he's gotten soft on this and how how he used to, you know, have to go into games and stuff like that. Even after a win. You know, he would put twelve twelve oh one or whatever. 00:11:06 Speaker 3: Oh, then get up and they run. 00:11:08 Speaker 8: Yeah, he brings it out a couple of times, but not too much. 00:11:12 Speaker 3: All right, I want to ask you about a couple of your teammates. Let's start with the guy that every game I have no idea what's going to happen. I'd like to have a camera on this dude in his day to day life, Mali, which is Brandon Garrison. I mean, at any given moment, he could shoot a three or punch a guy in the face. 00:11:30 Speaker 4: What is it like playing with Brandon Garrison. 00:11:32 Speaker 3: That's awesome. 00:11:35 Speaker 10: He's uh, he's always coming to work. Uh, the funny guy, always having fun in the locker room. 00:11:41 Speaker 11: Uh. 00:11:41 Speaker 9: He always pushes me to be better, pushes Jasper to be better. 00:11:44 Speaker 3: Have you all almost gotten in a fight? I mean you have to go one on one. 00:11:47 Speaker 2: With each other, that story with those eyes. 00:11:50 Speaker 9: But I mean it's all out of love. We're just able to make each other better. 00:11:53 Speaker 4: You fight out of love. 00:11:54 Speaker 10: Yeah, Okay, it's like it's like it's like having an older brother. Yea, yeah, me and my older brother Michael, he five, but we fight out of love. 00:12:00 Speaker 3: Jasper is there's someone on the team whose job it is when he nearly fights, someone to go hold him back? 00:12:05 Speaker 9: Oh, coach Michael McLean? 00:12:08 Speaker 3: Is that really his assigning to duty. 00:12:12 Speaker 8: It's a couple of different people who have to hold him back though whenever he gets. 00:12:15 Speaker 4: He's he's he's a big guy. 00:12:18 Speaker 3: Now Oway and Aberdeen, Jasper, you play with them in the back court, both seniors both. I mean Aberdeen's won a title away of course, was here last year. Are those guys have they been good sort of mentor figures for you this year? 00:12:31 Speaker 8: Yeah? 00:12:31 Speaker 3: Yeah, they definitely have. 00:12:32 Speaker 8: I know, both guys have had great college careers and had a great experience so far, and you know, having their seeing night tomorrow is gonna be sad that that's their. 00:12:40 Speaker 3: Last game plan. And walker Horn, Yeah, walker Horn, are you gonna be Brian's crying when Walker Horn now walks? My guy. 00:12:47 Speaker 8: I've known him since you know, Cow has recruited me in and I take a couple of visits. He was always there, you know, giving me some advice and stuff like that or what he's seen, and he still does to today. I mean, he's on the scout team and I'm telling you walk, walk and shoot the wall like elite at an elite level win. He's a great guy to be around in a locker room and stuff like that. 00:13:05 Speaker 3: All right now, I'm asking you for some scoop. Don't worry Poping. The staff are not listening right now, all right. They won't even know Cam. 00:13:15 Speaker 9: Here. 00:13:16 Speaker 3: He's starting practice, maybe started practicing a little bit yesterday. You think we might get to see some Cam before the season is over. I mean hopefully, well see that's a. 00:13:25 Speaker 4: Path politically correct answer. 00:13:27 Speaker 3: Hopefully. 00:13:28 Speaker 10: I mean we don't we don't know the inside scoop, but yeah, he was in practice yesterday. He was looking good from what I saw. But I mean, like I said, it's not up to us. It's up to Cam and how his body feels, and how the trainers looking, how the coaches feel. 00:13:41 Speaker 2: Whatever he can do on the court when he gets back. I'm sure practices have been hard with your limited roster. We know how it impacts games, but has it been difficult in practice being so thin? And how helpful will he be just behind the scenes getting on the court in practices. 00:13:53 Speaker 8: Oh yeah, he'll be really helpful. 00:13:54 Speaker 3: You know. 00:13:56 Speaker 8: Cam's a guy who can play, you know, multiple positions and so so he's definitely feels in a RUSS any given time. He's an elite defender least shooter. So I mean, you know, hopefully he can recover. And you know, you look good in practice the other day. But you know, like Maley says, up to him. 00:14:11 Speaker 3: But by the way, you guys got some guys. 00:14:13 Speaker 2: I said this when I went to your practice. 00:14:15 Speaker 3: They don't get a lot of attention, but your scout team though I don't know who those guys are, they got some dudes that can ball on that team. 00:14:22 Speaker 4: Do they ever work you all in practice? 00:14:24 Speaker 3: Sometimes. 00:14:24 Speaker 9: I know, there's definitely been. There's definitely been some days. 00:14:29 Speaker 4: Who's the old guy, the guy, you know what I'm talking about? 00:14:32 Speaker 2: The guy though he's a bucket. 00:14:34 Speaker 3: He's like six eight and he wears six knee braces and he and he he will work you all sometimes. 00:14:39 Speaker 10: If this is good man, he was a pro for a long time, then he knows how to see the game. 00:14:44 Speaker 9: So sometimes he just gets cooking one day. 00:14:46 Speaker 3: All right, tomorrow is Florida. You guys have already played them once, Malkai. You know they're big, they keep coming at you, and they got all different kinds of talent. I think tomorrow's gonna be one of the great Rupperena environments in terms of I just I mean, look at this right here, you can see what it is. It's gonna be like this times fifty tomorrow. How do you feel going into the Gators? 00:15:07 Speaker 9: I feel good. 00:15:09 Speaker 10: We know what to expect and we know what's coming our way, and it's time for a get back. 00:15:13 Speaker 4: So time for the get back, all right now? 00:15:16 Speaker 3: Jaspers av and Lee he kinda he kind of went got hot on us. Are you're gonna lock him down tomorrow? I'm ready to see some of that defense. 00:15:24 Speaker 2: I saw it. Uh it would for County and overtime. 00:15:27 Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, all the guys are you know, we really locked into the defensive assignment. I mean, coach has been challenging us throughout the week to pick up our intensity, you know, try to help our bigs out going into this Florida game. 00:15:39 Speaker 3: So we we have a a game, a. 00:15:41 Speaker 8: Game planing a scout and report on them, and you know, I'm gonna try to do whoever you can to help maintain it. 00:15:46 Speaker 3: I'll finish with this. You guys are both from Kentucky in addition to plane, playing at Kentucky gives you a lot of nerves anyway, or you know, a lot of pressure, not nerves, but pressure, you guys, and I think Trent have extra pressure with the with the sort of hometown. 00:16:01 Speaker 2: Guys, what's it like to go to play through that? 00:16:03 Speaker 3: And then what's it like when you're when you're dealing with all these fans knowing how much they want you to succeed. 00:16:10 Speaker 8: I mean, with me, I don't really feel like that much pressure. I know everybody in here is supporting me and the team at a high level. So I mean coming out and you know, just doing everything that I practiced, and you know, leaving it up to God and faith in and just being to even kill all the time. 00:16:25 Speaker 3: On you Jasper that guy right there, Ryan Livin, you do not have a bigger fan than him. Every game, he says, I want to see Jasper Johnson more. That is your biggest supporter in the in the in the bluegrass right there. 00:16:37 Speaker 9: That's family right there. 00:16:38 Speaker 8: I mean I've known him since before I was you know, even playing basketball, probably since the little kids. 00:16:43 Speaker 9: So I appreciate this. 00:16:45 Speaker 2: And Malco, how about you with the pressure at Kentucky. 00:16:48 Speaker 10: I kind of think pressure makes dinonds and it's kind of hard. 00:16:52 Speaker 9: That's a not to enjoy playing for the big Glue Nations. 00:16:54 Speaker 3: Yeah, and uh, I mean that your mom calling the post game show when you heard cheek, What did you think about that? 00:17:03 Speaker 4: Oh? 00:17:03 Speaker 9: Well, I'm gonna be honest. I didn't know I was saying my last name wrong. 00:17:09 Speaker 4: Oh wait a minute, you found out you were saying your last name, bro. 00:17:12 Speaker 9: I thought I was saying it right. 00:17:13 Speaker 10: And then she told me that night, and then she called into the show and then called me after at like three o'clock. 00:17:18 Speaker 3: In the morning. So oh, I like this. So so you tell me what you thought your last name was. 00:17:24 Speaker 9: I thought it was Marino. 00:17:25 Speaker 3: You thought it was Marino, Yes, but now you know it is Moreno, and so have you switched it? Yeah? Oh wow, you're not about that breaking news on KSR. You learned how to speak your name? Yeah, pretty much. Now I knew your brother when he played at his prime versus you at your prime? 00:17:48 Speaker 9: Who went said even a question? 00:17:53 Speaker 4: I mean he was good, like he was a good player. 00:17:57 Speaker 9: He was good, but he's not me. 00:18:00 Speaker 3: It there you go. Well, I will say to you, I'm proud of both of you guys. I hope you're able to get the victory tomorrow. And last thing, a little March. You feel some March magic with this group. You've shown you can beat anybody, you can lose to anybody. But are you Are you excited about what's coming in the next few weeks? 00:18:18 Speaker 8: Yeah for sure. I mean March is, you know, the best time of the year. It's a time where you know everything matters, and you know, after the NC or the SEC tournament, you know everybody zero zero so anything. 00:18:29 Speaker 3: There was a team in twenty fourteen that had a season very similar to yours, Up and down, Up and down, was seated a little lower, and then went on one of the magical runs that have ever happened at this school. You all probably are still you remember it, right, Yeah, Malachi, let's hope it happens again. 00:18:47 Speaker 9: I really do. You know, we're ready. 00:18:49 Speaker 10: We've been battle tested, and I think we have the pieces all put together and now we're starting to click. 00:18:54 Speaker 4: So all right, well, there you go, everybody. 00:18:55 Speaker 3: Malachi Moreno and Jasper Johnson, thank you guys very much. We appreciate it. I'll let you I'll let you all take off. I know you got places to go. There you go, Drew Franklin, what do you nice to talk with those guys? And I love the how much they love the No, you're good, you're good. What you want to you can't go for it? I don't. 00:19:16 Speaker 4: It's your show, my man. 00:19:17 Speaker 10: Tomorrow Kentucky's gonna go one to oh, but from my heart, great cross will be one and o two. 00:19:22 Speaker 9: So get that dout for him. 00:19:23 Speaker 2: Oh a great crossing shout out. 00:19:24 Speaker 3: Oh wait a minute, is it? Is it the finals tomorrow or semifinals, semi finals? You got great crossing winning? Look at that shouting out his high school on the way out. I like that. 00:19:34 Speaker 4: Thank you guys very much, appreciate it. 00:19:40 Speaker 3: Due I love both those kids in terms of how much they love the program and the state. Very nice of them to come on. Look, ride's not even Ryan knows we're still on the air and he's still talking because of how much he likes them. Yeah. 00:19:51 Speaker 2: I love hearing from him and I love the confidence. I mean I heard two and o tomorrow for Kentucky and Great Crossing. That sounds like a good day. So should we do the parlay the Great Crossing for fun? The Great Crossing on there? But I might dab one Kentalk. But that is the attitude you want to hear from your guys going into a big game. 00:20:06 Speaker 3: Your eyes lit up there talking to your guy Jasper, it's ready to make a move tomorrow. 00:20:12 Speaker 5: They are just not great basketball players. 00:20:14 Speaker 2: They are great kids. I mean they are superstars. 00:20:18 Speaker 5: These are the type of guys you want your kids to grow up to be like, not just a great athlete, but a great person. And both of them represent not just Lexington but UK very very well great ambassadors A. 00:20:28 Speaker 3: Five nine twenty two eighty seven. Who's up first? 00:20:32 Speaker 4: Eli is up first? Eli? Go ahead? 00:20:34 Speaker 3: And Mom, how about by the way, him learning how to pronounce his name on this show. 00:20:41 Speaker 2: I love that. I love that. 00:20:42 Speaker 4: I love it. 00:20:43 Speaker 8: Go ahead, Eli, man, I just got a season tickets to the Louisville Kings. 00:20:49 Speaker 5: Just wondering if you're excited about the new UFL team in Louisville. They played their first game at the end of the month. 00:20:54 Speaker 11: We got Lim Oden and Denny Snell on the rock. 00:20:57 Speaker 4: Well, I mean I like the idea. 00:20:59 Speaker 3: I mean I probably I have it locked into the Louisville Kings yet, Drew, because I'm kind of in March madness mode. But but I think it's very cool they have IM and I like that Benny Snell and those guys are on the team. 00:21:10 Speaker 2: Yeah, I follow him on social media. I get all their content. Benny, by the way, if he might have follow Benny on social media, he's he's big on doing the TikTok in these days. But to the extent of if I'm locked in on the roster in the schedule, I'm not quite there yet. I am excited to follow their their start. 00:21:23 Speaker 4: I'm not there quite yet. 00:21:24 Speaker 3: Since we're talking, we mentioned football, we said that will Stein's mom his wife are here as well. You know, spring practice starts Tuesday. I don't know that people necessarily realize spring practice starts tuesday. Will Stein's gonna be on here for an extended interview on Monday, so we'll be able to talk to him. 00:21:44 Speaker 4: But you know, football is right here and we're gonna. 00:21:47 Speaker 3: Get to see I mean, I can't think of a team we've ever known less about because we don't really know the coaching staff for the players yet. But I'm looking forward to it. 00:21:54 Speaker 5: I think all Kentucky football fans are really excited about the upcoming season. What Will Stein's gonna bring to the table. I think we're all we don't know what Kenny Mitchie, our quarterback, what's he gonna be like here? 00:22:03 Speaker 3: He picked number three, by the way, which has a history of being a good number. Andre Woodson, Gregg Yeast was number three. 00:22:09 Speaker 2: Yeah, it is a good number. 00:22:10 Speaker 5: So I'm excited just to see him play and see how what he's gonna be able to do for this offense. 00:22:14 Speaker 6: A lot of fresh blood and looking forward to his exciting style of offense that he brings. And you know, I know they got a really tough schedule ahead, but I think that this year is going to be a fun one. 00:22:24 Speaker 9: You know. 00:22:24 Speaker 3: One of the things you don't think about. I was talking to to Darby Stown. She said, they just moved their entire family here two weeks ago. You don't even think about that transition that like all these coaches and their wives, they've all you know, they all have moved in the last couple. 00:22:38 Speaker 7: Of the way across the country. 00:22:39 Speaker 4: That's all the way across the country. 00:22:40 Speaker 3: From Eugene to Lexington. You know, that is a huge transition with two little babies. Yeah, it's gotta be tough. 00:22:47 Speaker 5: You know, your family kind of straying a new program and your family is across the country. 00:22:51 Speaker 3: We will take a break and come back here at Paul miller Ford. This is Kentucky Sports Radio Quarterback. It is Kentucky Sports Radio for seven decades, an active role in celebrating UK's rich sports heritage here at Paul miller Ford, providing resources, sponsorships, and vehicles all here at Paul miller Ford. Now we got this is like a big blue party here, Shane, and there's stuff going on everywhere for those of you that are kind of just getting here. Sissy Cakes is right there. They also have free food. Is that free lunch, Strong Barbecue, the Kentucky Strong and Barbecue back. There is free lunch for people here, so don't go now, don't everybody get up right now. 00:23:32 Speaker 4: You can do it during the breaks. 00:23:33 Speaker 3: And then there are free t shirts right over here, so Paul Miller with all kinds of stuff for Kentucky fash And. 00:23:39 Speaker 6: They're also letting you sign up to win free tickets to tomorrow's game as well. 00:23:42 Speaker 3: Oh there's the thing for free tickets to the game. 00:23:46 Speaker 7: But all the Sasti's kick thing. 00:23:47 Speaker 6: Man, I just crushed an entire slice of the blueberry. 00:23:50 Speaker 7: It's as good as the orange. It is incredibly good. 00:23:53 Speaker 3: It is awesome. 00:23:53 Speaker 2: And we also have a diffensive coordinator walking around here somewhere too. I think I spotted so just the wives. I think there might be some actual staff. And oh our current defensive court. 00:24:02 Speaker 3: Oh per me, well hello there whoever wherever the current defensive court. 00:24:06 Speaker 2: I won't around. 00:24:07 Speaker 4: I won't blow your cover eight five nine twenty two eighty seven. 00:24:12 Speaker 3: On the text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five four, one person writes, Matt, I really loved the show yesterday. It was really nice to hear from Larry. Thank you all very much for doing that. He was very great, so many wonderful comments all throughout social media yesterday and Shannon, you unfortunately weren't able to join this, but Ryan, it was great being down there. 00:24:32 Speaker 5: It was awesome just getting a chance to give all the fans and listen to the show could give Larry his flowers. And then he gets on the phone and on the radio, and we're all like, sound that that's my that's my grandpa, that's my dad. You know, we all merely fall in love with that voice and how he's talking about the things, and it was just a kind of a special moment. 00:24:48 Speaker 7: Old Dick fan of Larry. 00:24:49 Speaker 6: I loved hearing him on the show yesterday, this first time he'd ever been on the radio with you. 00:24:53 Speaker 4: A thing I like about Larry's if you weren't there, he would talk. 00:24:56 Speaker 3: Without the microphone, Yeah, as if he had the microphone. So he just kept talking when he was off the air, as I was like, you know what, you're welcome. 00:25:04 Speaker 4: To your house. Did you see it? Last night? 00:25:07 Speaker 3: Michigan State was playing Rutgers. I don't know if anybody watch it. Michigan State is up eighteen with two minutes to go. Tom Izzo takes out all his players and puts in all his seniors, most of whom don't play, but he puts them all out. They're up eighteen with two minutes to go. Rutgers cuts it to one. 00:25:27 Speaker 4: Oh wow. 00:25:28 Speaker 3: Now they ended up winning, but the Michigan State fans you could tell, were like, Hey. 00:25:34 Speaker 7: We're glad you're seniors. You won't be here next year. 00:25:37 Speaker 3: That will not be much of a legacy, Drew if you end up losing this game. And then they held on, but they cut it to one after being up eighteen with two minutes to go. 00:25:46 Speaker 2: I saw Barry Sanders kid was one of them too. Barry Sanders in the house for Senior Night. That leads me to ask, though, are we starting our seniors against Florida tomorrow? How much run do Walker and Zach get in the beginning of the game? 00:25:58 Speaker 4: Wins an interesting question in games. 00:26:00 Speaker 2: Oh, you pretty much lost the game in the first five minutes and played him even from there, so, uh. 00:26:05 Speaker 4: You know, I haven't thought about that. Do they still do that? 00:26:07 Speaker 2: We've only had Pope's experience once. Did he last year? I can't even remember. 00:26:11 Speaker 4: I think he did, but all the seniors were guys. 00:26:13 Speaker 2: That play had so many older guys. 00:26:15 Speaker 4: So what are you doing? Are you starting them? 00:26:18 Speaker 2: I've always been started. 00:26:20 Speaker 3: Look at this lady, you look like you seem so nice and you're like no walker, horning zack toe. 00:26:26 Speaker 2: You start them first, whistle, take them out. 00:26:29 Speaker 6: I think you give him. I think you take the ball, walk out of bounce, get the whistle. 00:26:35 Speaker 5: I think Tubby somebody on Tubb's team did that. We got the tip, they tipped it to him, he just held it. They called time out, blew the whistle, took him out. 00:26:41 Speaker 2: That or one of them, just a quick face something, give them their moment of the uh, you know, going through the starting five and have that. Man. I love them, but maybe not more than just a quick. 00:26:50 Speaker 5: If I'm Walker, though, and I'm starting, if I get the ball, I'm cranking it. 00:26:53 Speaker 2: I don't care. If I'm half court, I am cranking it. 00:26:56 Speaker 4: But it is Florida. 00:26:57 Speaker 2: I mean, this is like, you. 00:26:58 Speaker 3: Know, this is a game where I don't know that you can give up very many points because they're gonna score a lot. 00:27:04 Speaker 7: As it is, one hundred and nine points in the last two games. 00:27:08 Speaker 2: Here's what we do. You start them if Florida wins the tip, just commit a quick foul. 00:27:13 Speaker 3: Okay, I like that. 00:27:14 Speaker 2: If Kentucky wins the tip, Walker gets one shot and then brown Jack one three and if he hits it, he stays in. 00:27:21 Speaker 4: So what do we think Mark's gonna do? 00:27:23 Speaker 3: Though? That's an interesting question because Mark seems like the kind of guy who really respects the tradition and would want to have that moment. Do you think they do it? I'm trying to think, did Cal do it with like Sam Malone and Brian Long? Yeah? 00:27:35 Speaker 2: I feel like I think he did. Yeah, we were also beating teams about like fifty that years so big of a deal, and. 00:27:41 Speaker 6: We weren't playing to try to stay out of Wednesday or the SEC tournament. 00:27:44 Speaker 4: I mean, that's true. This is well, let's talk about that. 00:27:47 Speaker 3: I mean, this has gotta be one of the biggest last games of the season that I can remember. 00:27:53 Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure. 00:27:54 Speaker 3: We've probably had one or two over the years Ryan that have been for the championship. 00:27:58 Speaker 2: But when you look at the scrapancy between. 00:28:02 Speaker 3: I mean, if we win a double byes definitely on the table because we need, like Arkansas to beat Missouri, which you think they probably would, and we need Vandy to beat Tennessee, which is certainly plausible, and then you're a four seat. But if you lose, and then what it looks like is gonna happen, happens you're a nine seed and you're playing on Wednesday. So I can't remember a time the games meant this month. 00:28:25 Speaker 5: I'm more anxious about this game for our postseason than I am when, like you said, you're playing for a championship, you win it, you win the title. Most of those years we're already secured that double bye, But for this one to have such that variation of playing on Wednesday night or a double buy on Friday, I think I'm more anxious for this game. 00:28:40 Speaker 2: Than I've been in a long time. 00:28:41 Speaker 6: If they lose this game tomorrow, they need a lot of help from Mississippi State to beat Georgia. 00:28:44 Speaker 3: So yeah, So KSR did a really good job of the website of listing all the possibilities, and if we lose, the highest we can be is an eight. If we lose, the most likely scenario is nine, and probably the second most likely scenario is a ten. So if we lose, I think Shannon's right, we really need Mississippi State to beat Georgia, and then I think we need Oklahoma to beat Texas, both of which are not necessarily certain. 00:29:15 Speaker 4: So I drew, I mean a loss, and we're packing up and headed Wednesday probably. 00:29:21 Speaker 2: Or if you're in the eleven thirty game and Tuesday, that could still be on the table if you're the first. If you're the nine, that's the first Wednesday game. 00:29:28 Speaker 4: Wednesday, Yeah, well, would you mean to play? 00:29:30 Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I mean we could, but I mean the fans would probably need to be there Tuesday night or up very early Wednesday, because you could be playing before noon local time in Nashville. 00:29:38 Speaker 5: Have we ever been an underdog on Senior Day? 00:29:40 Speaker 2: Ever? Who do we play? Last year? 00:29:44 Speaker 3: Auburt, seek the Boy and probably a couple, But we're not. But I don't know that we've been an underdog by this much in a long time. 00:29:54 Speaker 2: Now. 00:29:54 Speaker 4: The women real quick, the women play at noon? 00:29:58 Speaker 3: This show will will the thing we did at ten forty five, will actually do it eleven forty five since the game's at noon, so you'll lose fifteen minutes play South Carolina. 00:30:07 Speaker 4: That was a big win for him yesterday. 00:30:09 Speaker 3: Women's bracketology has now moved Kentucky to a four and hosting in in the first and second round. So Michigan State and US were competing for the last hosting seed. Michigan State lost yesterday Kentucky one, so they moved US above them. So I think as long as Drew they play well today, they got a really good shot of being able to host in the first and second round, which would be huge for him. 00:30:33 Speaker 2: Heck yeah, and I don't think down Staley's left. Last night after Clara Strack had thirty three points and hit five threes in that game, I looked it up. She hadn't had a three since January, went five for seven yesterday. I know she's the worst superstar Kenny Brooks has ever coached, but a hell of a game yesterday. 00:30:48 Speaker 4: Let's talk about that. Shannon. 00:30:51 Speaker 3: Kenny Brooks said before the SEC tournament said Clara Strack is a superstar. I've coached a handful of superstars in my life, but she's the worst superstar I've ever coached. Which I read that quote and I was like, WHOA. Since then, she's been dominant right now. If the tournament ended today, she'd be the SEC Tournament MVP. You think that was a good motivational tool to say you're the worst superstar I've ever heart. 00:31:17 Speaker 6: It was great psychology on Kenny Brook's part to do that is it's sort of like a back end of comblin because you're calling me the worst, but you're also calling me a superstar at the same time. Whatever he said, clearly it worked and he knows how to motivate his players. 00:31:29 Speaker 4: I saw an interview with her. 00:31:30 Speaker 3: We listened on the way back yesterday and in the interview she said, that's my relation with ship with him, and I wanted to prove him wrong. So it looks like it worked. R Yeah. 00:31:39 Speaker 5: She came with him from Virginia Tech. They've been together now for three years. When I first heard that, I thought, man, that would it would motivate me. He would kick me off, my coach call me the worst superstar he's ever had. I'm go out and show him, And by god, she did it. 00:31:50 Speaker 7: Yet, that's what it's important to know the person of your players. 00:31:53 Speaker 4: Some people wouldn't respond to and she did. Who's up next? 00:31:58 Speaker 2: Daniel is up next? 00:31:59 Speaker 3: Daniel? 00:31:59 Speaker 11: Go ahead, Daniel, Yo, Matt, everybody shout out to you, guys. I want to go over something that was kind of brushed over yesterday and that's Ryan's big date tonight tonight. 00:32:11 Speaker 3: Yeah, that is a good point, Ryan, So explain what you're going to tonight. 00:32:17 Speaker 5: Well, Matt, this is an exciting night and it happens in the mecca of entertainment, Somerset, Kentucky. We're driving down to Somerset and at six o'clock going to the Old Virginia Theater for a Edgar Allen Pole speakeasy night. Yeah, that's like you're supposed to know how to get in and it's hidden. 00:32:41 Speaker 2: This sounds like it's a ticketed event. 00:32:42 Speaker 5: It is ticketed, but they're gonna make it like it's a speak easy. You gotta probably knock on a door, know a password, and there's gonna be some crazy stuff, special drinks. 00:32:50 Speaker 3: You think you have to knock on a door and know a password? I think, so, do you know the password? 00:32:54 Speaker 2: Not yet, but I'm gonna find out. 00:32:55 Speaker 7: Do you know any Edgar Allen Poe like story? 00:32:57 Speaker 4: Yeah? What's your favorite Edgar Allen post store. 00:32:59 Speaker 2: Well quote the Raven nevermore. 00:33:02 Speaker 4: Oh wait, mine, sir, you said you know the password. 00:33:05 Speaker 11: I'm one of the performers tonight. 00:33:07 Speaker 3: Actually, oh okay, well all right, well, so what is it he's going to see? 00:33:13 Speaker 2: Because he clearly doesn't. 00:33:14 Speaker 11: Know he's he's on the right track, So. 00:33:18 Speaker 4: We gotta make it quick, sir, quickly. 00:33:22 Speaker 11: We're performers performing four stories with themed cocktails that go with each that go with each story. I hope when we get to the pregame show tomorrow one thirty, I hope you you give us some ed your favorite day ground. 00:33:43 Speaker 2: I'm so excited. 00:33:44 Speaker 5: I got it this morning and shaved my goateee off. I gotta be clean, shaven and fresh for the big date tonight. 00:33:50 Speaker 2: You have no a matut. What happened? Always just one step too far? Hey, you're not gonna wear that T shirt? Are you? 00:34:00 Speaker 5: Paul miller Ford giving me a hoodie? I might wear my Paul miller Ford hoodie. Did the big day tonight? 00:34:05 Speaker 2: I think I would change. 00:34:06 Speaker 3: This segment is brought to you by Serve Pro the number one choice and clean up in restoration, whether it's moldfire storm, or water damage. 00:34:13 Speaker 4: We gotta pro for that. 00:34:14 Speaker 3: It is Serve Pro, the official sponsor of college football, Serve Pro and servepro dot Com. If you have a disaster in your house, they'll clean it up and make it like it never happened. It is Serve Pro. We'll take a break and be right back to see is Kentucky Sports Radio. 00:34:32 Speaker 2: Quarterback? 00:34:33 Speaker 3: It is Kentucky Sports Radio eight five nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. Text Machine is seven seven two seven, seven four five two five four one person rights. 00:34:44 Speaker 2: Matt Did Ryan say Edgar Allen Pole? 00:34:48 Speaker 4: He did? 00:34:49 Speaker 5: That may be my well accent Edgar Allan Pole. 00:34:52 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:34:52 Speaker 3: Also, Shannon said he thought that would be a good, good stripper name, which would be think absolutely. I think that is. I think that's probably true. We are here at don Or see It. We are here at Paul miller Ford long standing tradition of partnering with the University of Kentucky coaches and athletes a lot. This has been a great remote here with all the giveaways and the players. The problem is, as soon as we announced free food, I knew what would happen, you lose the crowd for ten or fifteen minutes. Everybody gets it, But we're back and ready to rock. Text machine is seven seven two four five two five four. UK Baseball got some good news. Tyler Bell is going is cleared to come back. You know, Drew, we didn't even know if he's gonna come back all season, and he'll be back now before SEC play. 00:35:36 Speaker 2: Y'all hoping you're gonna look at him this weekend. Definitely by SEC play. But when that happened in the first game of the year, and where were they Greenville, Greensboro? Yeah, not Lexington. Just the reaction and listen to the broadcast. I mean, I think everyone thought this is gonna be a long term injury, maybe not even see him this season. So excellent to have him here in the first week of March before you even get to SEC. 00:35:54 Speaker 3: Yeah. 00:35:55 Speaker 5: Thank He's supposed to possibly be on the field this weekend for the series this weekend. 00:35:58 Speaker 2: It starts today, so. 00:35:59 Speaker 5: I think they're just gonna use him as a d H Yeah, get him a couple of bat bats. Getay for conference play that starts next week. 00:36:05 Speaker 3: What person rights, Matt, I have a scoop that will you can say on ks R and then you'll be breaking it. 00:36:11 Speaker 2: To the world. 00:36:13 Speaker 7: Wow, I can't wait for this. 00:36:15 Speaker 3: Not endorsing this scoop, but we will keep it in the back of our minds. 00:36:20 Speaker 4: Four four two four is. 00:36:23 Speaker 2: The area code? All right, well, I know what that is. 00:36:26 Speaker 3: My scoop is Bill self is retiring after the season. Just keep in mind that I said it, and you will know I have inside sources. All right, there you go. 00:36:36 Speaker 6: All right, they got tossed out the other night. They turned on the smoke machine as walking through the what happened? They got thrown out of the game. And then you know how that was great timing. He set up to smoke, he got kicked out. 00:36:48 Speaker 4: Yeah. 00:36:49 Speaker 3: Tonight, by the way, big big night of basketball tonight, because there's a lot of uh, you know, conference tournaments. I think the o VC semi finals are on ESPN U. But my question for you Miami about High playing to go undefeated. They are at Ohio. Miami of Ohio has not won at Ohio in fifteen years, but they if they win tonight, they will go undefeated. 00:37:10 Speaker 2: Do you want to see them go undefeated? Would you watch? 00:37:13 Speaker 3: Because it's I think it's on ESPN two getting a good TV thing. Would you want to see see it happen? 00:37:19 Speaker 2: I want to see it happen. 00:37:20 Speaker 5: I want to see him go undefeated, just to keep that excitement in a small conference. I grew up in a small conference, small school. Uh, Transylvania, they're playing the night you want you pull for those small schools. 00:37:28 Speaker 4: Really, that's exactly the same thing. 00:37:30 Speaker 3: Miami of Ohio going undefeated in Transylvania's playing ty though, hurt Brian Lane this morning. 00:37:34 Speaker 2: Yeah, honeyman Leach report. 00:37:36 Speaker 4: But yeah, are you a trancey guy? Right, let's go Pontiers. 00:37:39 Speaker 3: Let's go. 00:37:39 Speaker 4: Are they at home? Are they playing here? 00:37:41 Speaker 9: No? 00:37:41 Speaker 3: It's in. 00:37:44 Speaker 2: Yeah. 00:37:44 Speaker 4: But uh, are you rooting for Miami of Ohio? 00:37:47 Speaker 3: I am. 00:37:47 Speaker 2: I think it'd be cool for them to go undefeated. I want them to get into the tournament. I do not think they should be in if they lose in the conference tournament, but I hope they go undefeated and get in there. But I will say if this is the team that beats them, you know, we've been in that Ohio arena just a couple of years. Yeah, I had a great time. Loved being in Ohio. One team's gonna do it. I would be excited for them having been there. 00:38:05 Speaker 6: I hope they went tonight, but then losing the conference tournament, so then it puts the pressure on the selection committee and watch people lose their minds. 00:38:12 Speaker 3: So the New York Times, the New York Times, I thought this was interesting, requested proof that Miami and Ohio tried to schedule good teams. Asked them for all correspondents showed they tried to schedule good teams, and they produced twenty letters with division with major conference teams asking for a game and getting turned down. They were turned down for every one of them. Does that make a difference to you if they lose in the conference tournament? If they tried their best to play good teams and good teams would not play them twenty. 00:38:45 Speaker 6: You say, I would say it was like I would say, there's eighty other teams in the top one hundred. 00:38:49 Speaker 4: You can but they reached out. 00:38:51 Speaker 3: They knew if you they knew the top teams wouldn't play them, So they reached out to like Pitt I think. 00:38:58 Speaker 4: Vandy was one of the teams they turned them down. Oklahoma State, I think. 00:39:02 Speaker 3: So they reached and just kept getting those Does that make a difference to you if they tried and still didn't get it. 00:39:08 Speaker 6: If they legitimately tried to, then I mean, I guess their hands are tied in that situation. 00:39:12 Speaker 7: What do you want them to do? 00:39:13 Speaker 6: But they could play at least teams that are a little bit better than the ones they played in the three hundreds, and you know high two hundreds, you're better schedule. 00:39:21 Speaker 5: It definitely makes a difference for me because I'm pulling for him. Anyway, even if they get beat I still think they go undefeed in the regular season. 00:39:26 Speaker 2: They need to get in. 00:39:27 Speaker 5: This I think solidifies their argument, And I'm glad if the New York Times actually kind of put that out there. 00:39:32 Speaker 6: Is there some sort of union to like, like go against Miami, Ohio to not schedule them. 00:39:38 Speaker 3: Well, I mean, so this is one of the you know, you noticed when Kentucky played this year, when we played bad teams, we played horrible teams. 00:39:48 Speaker 4: That's what's gonna happen. 00:39:49 Speaker 3: So so the way the NCAA tournament things works, if you remember back when Tuppy was here, you got a lot of credit for playing good teams like the Belmonts the world even if you lost that's not how it is now. Now it's about how much you beat teams by and so, like Alabama put up a scheduling thing. There's a there's a bulletin board where you can say you need a team, and Alabama said, we want to play somebody, but you have to be ranked two hundred and fiftieth or worse for. 00:40:18 Speaker 2: Us to play. 00:40:19 Speaker 3: Because the incentive now is to play the bad teams and then beat the crap out of them. 00:40:24 Speaker 4: You get more, you get more credit for that than if you beat Belmont by sister. 00:40:28 Speaker 6: So then the NCAA essentially created this scenario, is gonna be interested to see will they keep that team out. 00:40:33 Speaker 3: I totally agree they. 00:40:35 Speaker 4: Have to fix it. 00:40:35 Speaker 2: I read this story. It it's supposed me about Miami, Ohio, but they basically uncovered teams will only play Quad one or Quad fours, and if you're Quad two or Quad three, they can't a game. It's not worth the risk. Because you mentioned one. There were several examples of schools like we want to buy a game, you can't be ranked this you pretty much gotta suck. 00:40:52 Speaker 3: And if you signed there there was if you sign players that makes you projected the good they cancel the contract. 00:41:00 Speaker 4: Wow, So I mean it's it is kind of interesting. 00:41:03 Speaker 3: By the way. Well, I don't know where she went. Miss Kentucky is here as well too, but we want to give a big round of applause to Miss Kentucky over there with the sissy cakes. 00:41:11 Speaker 4: I don't think she can hear me, but uh, glad to have her. All right, Who's next? Got Will of next? Will got a minute? 00:41:18 Speaker 2: Go ahead? 00:41:18 Speaker 4: Will Wow? 00:41:21 Speaker 12: Appreciated guys, big last week for you, honestly, Peak Radio, Peak Sports Radio. I gotta beat him today. 00:41:43 Speaker 3: It is today. 00:41:45 Speaker 11: What time is that game? 00:41:46 Speaker 2: Actually it's at noon, I said earlier. 00:41:52 Speaker 4: No, I'm kidding with you A quickly. 00:41:54 Speaker 12: I was on hold quick but I was just wanting to say, guys, I really just wanted to call it and see you guys killed it this week and I've loved paying attention. 00:42:03 Speaker 2: But well, thank you very much.
