<v Speaker 1>You'll be all right there. We got sorry about that everybody. Hey, <v Speaker 1>welcome to game Breaking News with Me Jeff Grub, your <v Speaker 1>host from giant bomb dot com. Thank you for tuning in. <v Speaker 1>In this episode, we're going to be talking about the <v Speaker 1>switch to and nothing else. It's going to be a <v Speaker 1>good one. We have Lucy James on the show. Lucy, <v Speaker 1>how are you doing? <v Speaker 2>I'm doing well? Thank you. I watched the direct went <v Speaker 2>back to sleep. Yeah, I got it. <v Speaker 1>Let's let's do it. Did you watch it from bed? <v Speaker 2>It? <v Speaker 1>Did you watch it from bed? <v Speaker 2>Absolutely? <v Speaker 1>Yes, good good, good moves. Yeah. Sorry, it's gonna be <v Speaker 1>we're piecing everything together. Jan is on assignment right now, <v Speaker 1>so we are. Me and Sean are kind of figuring <v Speaker 1>everything out. I didn't have the right intro, so you <v Speaker 1>might have heard you mean like a gummy bear there <v Speaker 1>for a couple of seconds. All right, though, you know <v Speaker 1>what it is. It's a big episode. There's a ton <v Speaker 1>of switch to stuff, Lucy. I say, let's just get <v Speaker 1>into it. Let's explain what we do most weekdays. I <v Speaker 1>Jeff Greb will help peace your gaming life back together. <v Speaker 1>That includes breaking news and maybe even some of our <v Speaker 1>own original reporting for all these topics, I'll get the <v Speaker 1>input of a bona fide expert who will make me <v Speaker 1>look smart. If you are watching live on twitch welcome, <v Speaker 1>You can always listen to the show later on podcast <v Speaker 1>feeds by searching for Game Mass Mornings, or find the <v Speaker 1>RSS feed on GiantBomb dot com. You can also catch <v Speaker 1>the show later on YouTube. Hello YouTube, all right, we <v Speaker 1>have a lot to get into. Yeah, I set the <v Speaker 1>thing and now let's do the damn thing. We got <v Speaker 1>a lot to get into here. It is switch to <v Speaker 1>is here or in so much as it's here. With <v Speaker 1>they direct, they gave us a ton of info and <v Speaker 1>then they gave us even more info after the direct, <v Speaker 1>which we are going to be sifting through. All that <v Speaker 1>stuff is coming in real hot. But let's go through <v Speaker 1>everything we do know, and as more information comes in, <v Speaker 1>we'll do our best to stay on top of it. <v Speaker 1>If anyone in chat has any questions or concerns that <v Speaker 1>you want us to bring up as we're talking about stuff, <v Speaker 1>we'll keep an eye on that. I got Sean here <v Speaker 1>helping me as well on the ones in the twos <v Speaker 1>to throw it, So if you guys have questions, maybe <v Speaker 1>you can ping him directly and he could jump in <v Speaker 1>and give us some more insight as we're talking. Yes, <v Speaker 1>they're making another switch, Lucy James. Do you want to <v Speaker 1>know how much it costs? <v Speaker 2>I actually do, because they did not reveal it within <v Speaker 2>the direct. <v Speaker 1>They did not reveal it in the direct, and you know, <v Speaker 1>there's a bunch of reasons for that, but they didn't. <v Speaker 1>They waited until afterward. They did give the price right <v Speaker 1>away afterward, though. It is okay, four hundred and fifty <v Speaker 1>dollars for the hardware, and then there is a bundle <v Speaker 1>with Mario Kart World for five hundred dollars. What's your <v Speaker 1>initial reaction to those prices? <v Speaker 2>Sorry for audio listeners, because my initial reaction was a face, <v Speaker 2>a little bit of not akin to the kind of <v Speaker 2>face you make when you kind of suck a lemon. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, you made a grimace. Yeah, let's be honest, it <v Speaker 1>was a grimace. <v Speaker 2>It's yeah. I think overall that direct was a bit surprising. <v Speaker 2>There were obviously some highlights in there. I was expecting <v Speaker 2>way more first party. It was very interesting to see <v Speaker 2>them focus so much on third party. Ooh, yeah, that's <v Speaker 2>not a day one purchase for me at this point. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean it will be for me, but I'm <v Speaker 1>a sucker for Nintendo stuff, so of course, But I <v Speaker 1>do think that that price is high and yet not <v Speaker 1>that surprising. As we were going through the direct I <v Speaker 1>think we had like one more chance to all give <v Speaker 1>our guests on what we thought the price was going <v Speaker 1>to be, and I did was like, yeah, four fifty <v Speaker 1>sounds right, And then I think we might have been <v Speaker 1>on this show last week. It was recently, you know, <v Speaker 1>we constantly we're discussing the prices. Like I got to <v Speaker 1>point in my head it was like, because of all <v Speaker 1>the uncertainty with tariffs and the global economic situation and <v Speaker 1>uncertainty about even like you know, the value of the <v Speaker 1>yen and all this other stuff, they probably would do <v Speaker 1>some version of the of the switch To bundled with <v Speaker 1>Mario Kart and try to get that price as high <v Speaker 1>as possible. And that's exactly what they're doing. Five hundred <v Speaker 1>dollars four Mario Kart World bundled in with switch To, <v Speaker 1>and we'll go over what Mario Kart World is and <v Speaker 1>all this other stuff. And the system's out. It's out <v Speaker 1>July or I'm sorry, June. What was the date exactly? Fifth? Yeah, <v Speaker 1>June fifth, June fifth, twenty twenty five, so about two <v Speaker 1>months exactly from now that system will be out. I <v Speaker 1>think that the Mario Kart move is especially smart because <v Speaker 1>they are I mean, it's smart in one way and <v Speaker 1>another way, it's kind of Oh, it's got people worried. <v Speaker 1>They're charging eighty dollars for Mario Kart World, which is <v Speaker 1>in open world Mario Kart game. It is looks big <v Speaker 1>and new and shiny, and I'm definitely interested in it. <v Speaker 1>There are a lot of features, and we're going to <v Speaker 1>go through the direct here, you know, beat by beat <v Speaker 1>here in a moment. But yeah, I think saying, okay, <v Speaker 1>this game is eighty dollars, and I think it's is <v Speaker 1>it seventy dollars digitally? If you get it separately, yeah, <v Speaker 1>digitally so, but if you get it bundled in with <v Speaker 1>the switch to, you are going to be saving money <v Speaker 1>on day one. I think a lot of people are <v Speaker 1>just gonna end up going for that five hundred dollars <v Speaker 1>bundle and spend five hundred dollars on a switch to <v Speaker 1>and not be too mad about it because they're going <v Speaker 1>to feel they're getting a deal because of Mario Kart. <v Speaker 2>Right, Yeah, I mean, Mariocott is what is these sales <v Speaker 2>figures on Maricott eight at the moment. <v Speaker 1>It's like it's approaching like sixty million, it's fifty million. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, it's wilde And I mean looking at the stuff <v Speaker 2>that we saw in Maricott will today. Yeah, yeah, you <v Speaker 2>know what They've got me. I will be playing a lot. <v Speaker 2>You know what. The thing that got me was when <v Speaker 2>they had different costumes And I really didn't expect that <v Speaker 2>to learn that about myself this morning, when I was like, Peach, <v Speaker 2>but she's in a new hat. Okay, Yeah, it's a shame. <v Speaker 2>Like the ten dollars more for physical media. Man, are <v Speaker 2>these just the times that we live in now? I <v Speaker 2>guess so. <v Speaker 1>I mean they are, they're hedging and for all these <v Speaker 1>things that are so uncertain. You know, last month it <v Speaker 1>was Trump's saying that he's going to put tariffs on <v Speaker 1>imports from Mexico. A lot of these games are physically <v Speaker 1>manufactured in places like Mexico and then they get imported <v Speaker 1>in the United States. And if that if there was <v Speaker 1>a tariff on that those games and it was like <v Speaker 1>a twenty twenty five percent arif it was some insane number, <v Speaker 1>that is something that they just couldn't. That is their <v Speaker 1>margin right there, Like that's their entire margin. So it <v Speaker 1>was going to be a problem no matter what. So <v Speaker 1>they're kind of hedging against that. And really this is <v Speaker 1>the saying, hey, just go buy digital, like it's going <v Speaker 1>to just say it like it's gonna save us all money. <v Speaker 1>In the end, it's gonna save us money. So we <v Speaker 1>are actually finally for the first time, really going to <v Speaker 1>pass down savings to you, at least initially. Obviously that <v Speaker 1>is the sticker price. People who buy physical find other <v Speaker 1>ways to save money by trading games in buying used <v Speaker 1>and more people are going digital, that'll be a little <v Speaker 1>bit more difficult, but you know, at least we did. <v Speaker 2>Come out the other day and say that they have <v Speaker 2>the game call trading thing. <v Speaker 1>Yes, the family sharing, Yes, I'm sharing. That's part of this. <v Speaker 2>All of this stuff, a lot of this stuff, and <v Speaker 2>we'll talk about what they showed today is very reminiscent <v Speaker 2>of how Xbox and PlayStation was showcasing the one and <v Speaker 2>the PS four. <v Speaker 1>YEP. <v Speaker 2>Definitely, you know, it just kind of does kind of <v Speaker 2>feel like going back in time ten years ago. But <v Speaker 2>that's that's kind of Nintendo when you think about their <v Speaker 2>approach to online and even even the chat stuff that <v Speaker 2>they announced today, like that was very. <v Speaker 1>Xbox three sixty. Yes, we'll get like I said, we'll <v Speaker 1>go on. <v Speaker 2>Yeah. My feelings about those guided like fake little multiplayer <v Speaker 2>videos aside, it felt really strange for them to put <v Speaker 2>that if so high up in the director be like, look, <v Speaker 2>we're doing something new, like this is new, that's just <v Speaker 2>discord Yeah, I anyway, yeah, it's expensive. And then I <v Speaker 2>did say the end of the director you know there <v Speaker 2>will be more announcements to come. We have a Mariocott <v Speaker 2>direct in a couple of weeks. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. Yeah. Wow. So it's uh yeah, I think that <v Speaker 1>they you know, they're passing on the savings for the <v Speaker 1>digital games, but really they're raising the prices. Right. That's <v Speaker 1>another thing that all these things are maneuvers from Nintendo <v Speaker 1>to get away with as much as possible, which is <v Speaker 1>what all these companies do. But like I you know, <v Speaker 1>I'm catching myself. I'm sitting here saying like they're passing <v Speaker 1>on the savings and really they raise the prices of games. <v Speaker 1>That's what they did, even on the digital side. The <v Speaker 1>game's going to be you know, more more expensive than <v Speaker 1>the last Mario Kart. And yet I'm saying, thank you <v Speaker 1>Nintendo for not charging me as much as the physical version. <v Speaker 1>So it's like that they they understand what they're doing, <v Speaker 1>they understand the psychology, and that is clearly what they've <v Speaker 1>done with the five hundred dollars bundle and this very <v Speaker 1>variable pricing between digital and physical. <v Speaker 2>And I mean Nintendo as well, of all the companies, <v Speaker 2>they're the ones whose games physically hold their value way <v Speaker 2>more than anyone else like that, and digitally, you know, <v Speaker 2>it's so rare that you will have a huge, huge <v Speaker 2>sale on Nintendo products. And so yeah, I guess this <v Speaker 2>is just it's just the future. <v Speaker 1>All right, let's let's just go through it. So they <v Speaker 1>did open with Mario Kart World. I got all this <v Speaker 1>from Matt Pass at Polygon, although we'll sprinkle in some <v Speaker 1>Jordan Midler here and there from VGC and a few <v Speaker 1>other things as well. I don't know, first to himself <v Speaker 1>as the Scotsman, it's kind of embarrassing, all right. A <v Speaker 1>new Mario Kart game was teas during the Switch Tos <v Speaker 1>initial reveal, but now it's official. Mario Kart World is <v Speaker 1>arriving for the console's launch. This version's twist twist the <v Speaker 1>weather changes, off roading is highly encouraged, and you can <v Speaker 1>keep on driving to the next course. It packs twenty <v Speaker 1>four racers into each race, making this the most open <v Speaker 1>world experience of any Mario Kart. And then there's the <v Speaker 1>promise of tons of social multiplayer modes. It's eighty dollars, yes, <v Speaker 1>and it's it's so this one. I was like kind <v Speaker 1>of like also hoping for it would be open world <v Speaker 1>Mario Kart because I'm a big fan of Burnout Paradise. <v Speaker 1>I could imagine driving around in karts with friends could <v Speaker 1>be a very good time. I hope that Togeah, yeah exactly, <v Speaker 1>like you're right. They made him very feel very social <v Speaker 1>where it wasn't just about racing. It was like, let's <v Speaker 1>get all together and we those. It was yeah, of course, <v Speaker 1>very forts the horizon. I think this is a pretty <v Speaker 1>good hook for Mario Kart, like for the tenth Mario Kart, <v Speaker 1>however they count it. Uh, it's one that I'm at <v Speaker 1>least like, oh this, I need to check this out, <v Speaker 1>as opposed to if it was just Mario Kart eight again. <v Speaker 1>I played so much of that. I mean of course <v Speaker 1>again I would get it, but I wouldn't be quite <v Speaker 1>as excited as I am for this version of this. <v Speaker 1>Do you think this can work? <v Speaker 2>Oh yeah, absolutely Well, like Maricott eight, what, they can't <v Speaker 2>release it for the fourth time, that's right, because it <v Speaker 2>was you uh no, yeah, we you switch and then <v Speaker 2>there was like an expanded version or something. <v Speaker 1>Yep, that right. <v Speaker 2>I don't know. It's been around for like almost ten <v Speaker 2>years for Maria Coott eight. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, from the WU version. Yeah, I think it's been <v Speaker 1>almost exactly ten years. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, God, But no, I mean Marincott World makes sense, <v Speaker 2>especially as they're pushing a lot of more multiplayer online functionality. <v Speaker 2>It makes sense to really show off game that is <v Speaker 2>going to take full advantage of that, which is Mariokott. <v Speaker 2>So they got to show off game chat, They get <v Speaker 2>to show off hopefully an easier way to link up <v Speaker 2>with people, because man, I remember trying to get in <v Speaker 2>with your friends on Nintendo Switch was an absolute pain <v Speaker 2>in the ass. So I hope that they fixed that. <v Speaker 2>But no, I mean, like why they're changing off roads <v Speaker 2>kind of reducing that. It's to keep you playing, all right, <v Speaker 2>because it kind of reduces that friction of like Hey, <v Speaker 2>I'll go in, I'll play a course, and then I'm <v Speaker 2>boot back up into a menu and then oh well <v Speaker 2>I'm in a menu. Maybe I'll just go play something else, right, <v Speaker 2>But if it's in this big, open world, you just <v Speaker 2>want to drive to the next thing and keep people <v Speaker 2>engaged and keep up having fun. And so I'm interested <v Speaker 2>to see what else they're putting. I want to see <v Speaker 2>the courses. But I mean it was a good showing <v Speaker 2>for mariocartt World. <v Speaker 1>I think, yeah, I think you're right that keeping people <v Speaker 1>playing really giving people more to do in between when <v Speaker 1>their friends aren't available to play online, because I think <v Speaker 1>Mario or to play in person obviously Nintendo, which was <v Speaker 1>a big local multiplayer system for a lot of families, <v Speaker 1>I think that if they could build out a game <v Speaker 1>where it's like, Okay, yes you're playing with your friends <v Speaker 1>a lot of the time you're hanging out, but in <v Speaker 1>between that, let's go set the fastest speed record on <v Speaker 1>this one road the way burnout or fortsa works so <v Speaker 1>that there's this asynchronous multiplayer element to it as well <v Speaker 1>to kind of keep things interesting for a longer period <v Speaker 1>of time. I find that very enticing, and I thought <v Speaker 1>the game looked really good and kind of this big <v Speaker 1>wet map where you drive between all the regular Mario biomes. <v Speaker 1>That totally works for me. You mentioned wanting more seamless online. Well, <v Speaker 1>we'll see how it actually ends up working. I bet <v Speaker 1>Frien codes will still be involved in some way. But <v Speaker 1>they introduce game chat, which seems to be the primary <v Speaker 1>function chat. Yes, this seems to be the primary function <v Speaker 1>for that Sea button. Is you press the Sea button <v Speaker 1>and it's going to take you to the Nintendo version <v Speaker 1>of Discord. Is exactly what it looked like with you <v Speaker 1>complete with like cameras being in an overlay on top <v Speaker 1>of the game that you're playing. <v Speaker 2>In it in a little circle. <v Speaker 1>Yes, right there. So there was a lot of like <v Speaker 1>integration into the games themselves with this. So that's like <v Speaker 1>the maybe some of the cool aspects of this, but <v Speaker 1>at its most based level, it is a chat system <v Speaker 1>so that you can communicate with other people online while <v Speaker 1>you're playing games without having to use a separate phone app, <v Speaker 1>which wasn't just. <v Speaker 2>I'm gonna say oh yeah wait, no, I'm just I'm story. <v Speaker 2>We'd just play play Myra card together. Yeah, yeah, that was. <v Speaker 1>Yep, absolutely, I figured that one out. Uh, yeah, and <v Speaker 1>I think that it's we're going to see people probably <v Speaker 1>use this, but I do wonder how that microphone is <v Speaker 1>going to work. So they showed like, if you're holding <v Speaker 1>the system, there's a microphone built into the switch to <v Speaker 1>just like the Steam Deck, and that works pretty well <v Speaker 1>on the Steam Deck. I bet it's going to work <v Speaker 1>pretty good here. But it's also that same microphone that <v Speaker 1>you will be using but when it's on the dock <v Speaker 1>by your TV, so yeah, you're going to be kind <v Speaker 1>of shouting at a mic that's of room away. Now <v Speaker 1>they are promised some like noise canceling features, which hey, <v Speaker 1>they are partners with Nvidia, who happens to have very <v Speaker 1>good noise canceling features, so I suspect that will work fine. <v Speaker 1>But I do think it's like, man, it would have <v Speaker 1>been better if you could have put the microphone in <v Speaker 1>the JOYCN instead, although I guess people are gripping that <v Speaker 1>maybe that would sound terrible. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I guess if your hands are all over. <v Speaker 1>It PlayStation, the door sense works that way, right, it's <v Speaker 1>got a microphone built in, although I bet most people don't. <v Speaker 2>In between the sticks, you don't. There is no way <v Speaker 2>that you would unless you are doing something mad. Yep, <v Speaker 2>you would be rubbing on that one. But yeah, with <v Speaker 2>the Joycon where your hands are either it's in the <v Speaker 2>little connection thing or yeah, it would just be difficult <v Speaker 2>to place. I did like the example with the like, <v Speaker 2>oh you get this guy making a smoothie or whatever. <v Speaker 2>It's okay, it'll gill get rid of that. <v Speaker 1>Mm hmm. Yeah, because we mentioned it, like you're going <v Speaker 1>to have like the little circles with your camera feed. <v Speaker 1>There is a separate Nintendo switch to camera. It's going <v Speaker 1>to be fifty dollars. You plug that into the USB <v Speaker 1>sport on top of the switch. So there's one on <v Speaker 1>the bottom where you can still charge it in the dock, <v Speaker 1>and then there's one on top of the switch so <v Speaker 1>you can add other accessories like this, and that enables <v Speaker 1>people to see your video as well in the switch <v Speaker 1>to game chat function. But also it'll work inside some games. <v Speaker 1>You know, we'll talk about it more here, but they <v Speaker 1>showed like some Mario Party mini games. <v Speaker 2>Where eye Toy ask gaming. <v Speaker 1>It looked like eye Toy, it looked like EyeToy and <v Speaker 1>connected like it's great, yeah, And I was like for <v Speaker 1>Mario Party, that sounds like a good time to me. <v Speaker 1>And then there are other elements where it's like maybe <v Speaker 1>it wasn't how you were interacting with the game, but <v Speaker 1>it still had your little head in a bubble next <v Speaker 1>to your character inside the game, so you could like <v Speaker 1>see each other's facial expressions and things like that. And again, <v Speaker 1>Mario Party was a pretty good use case for that, <v Speaker 1>where it's like, I do want to see the misery <v Speaker 1>on my friend's faces when we're playing Mario Party. That's <v Speaker 1>half the fun. <v Speaker 2>So I wanted to be able to make my me <v Speaker 2>by scanning my face. Again, if we're gonna using the camera, wow, <v Speaker 2>couch of you. I'm really interested in, as a parent, <v Speaker 2>what you think about the increased social capabilities of switched <v Speaker 2>to camera, because I don't know when I was playing. <v Speaker 2>When I was watching the director, I was like, I <v Speaker 2>don't know if I would want that for my kid <v Speaker 2>to have access to you and there will be parental controls. <v Speaker 2>They did say that, but it just I don't know. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>I'm personally it's playing with random people online. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I don't need them seeing what people see when <v Speaker 1>they play Uno on Xbox three sixty for sure, which <v Speaker 1>is all just like my understand it's just mostly penises <v Speaker 1>in cocaine, and so yeah, I want to keep that <v Speaker 1>away from the kiddos. I'm gonna set that parental thing, <v Speaker 1>so cameras are just not going to work no matter <v Speaker 1>what in games for them, just period. Like that's how <v Speaker 1>I would set that. And then it's like if they're <v Speaker 1>in a friend group and it's like, as long as <v Speaker 1>it's white list, that's how I'll do it. If it's <v Speaker 1>a whiteless situation where it's like here's your cousin, they <v Speaker 1>got this too, let's I will whitelist them so the <v Speaker 1>camera and speech functionality works for them. Yeah, that's okay, <v Speaker 1>and I expect with Nintendo that's probably how it's going <v Speaker 1>to work. Like you have to be explicitly friends to <v Speaker 1>make sure that that is going to go through. <v Speaker 2>I think it is well because even my sister when <v Speaker 2>she was setting up her like I gave it, I <v Speaker 2>gave a switch to my nieces and she was like, oh, <v Speaker 2>there was even an app for me to set it up. <v Speaker 2>And so I would assume that parental guidance and controls <v Speaker 2>would go in that. But unless you get a kid <v Speaker 2>who's like, you know, nine, and then's just like I'm <v Speaker 2>just going to set it up by myself. <v Speaker 1>Oh dude, that's right. Yes, that's going to be a <v Speaker 1>concerned for someone. But the like, the first video that <v Speaker 1>wasn't in the direct they uploaded to the Nintendo YouTube <v Speaker 1>channel was two videos about parental control apps. So they <v Speaker 1>understand it's Nintendo. Of course, they like, there's a reason <v Speaker 1>they haven't done this until this point other than the <v Speaker 1>fact that they always do these things ten to fifteen <v Speaker 1>to in this case, like twenty years later. How holds <v Speaker 1>the Xbox three sixty actually, and tell me I don't <v Speaker 1>need to know? <v Speaker 2>No, the ioy was PS two man. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, and ioys PS PS two. That's right, it's easy, <v Speaker 1>crazy all right. Then there was then Nintendo excuse me, local, <v Speaker 1>let's do this one first, local play via game share. <v Speaker 1>While the Switch allowed for local play on one console <v Speaker 1>using two joy cons the Switch two's game share function <v Speaker 1>will allow pals to play each other in a local <v Speaker 1>setting using a single shared game even if the friend <v Speaker 1>doesn't own a copy. That's something they've done on previous <v Speaker 1>Nintendo consoles, so it'll be back. There will be basically <v Speaker 1>share play. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, oh, share play remember that one? <v Speaker 1>Yep? <v Speaker 2>PS four Yeah, still do that they do. <v Speaker 1>We tried to do it for something the other day <v Speaker 1>and eventually we got it work, and it was a hassle. <v Speaker 1>We did not know what we were doing. <v Speaker 2>So I remember Far Cry was the one that they <v Speaker 2>show four Far Cry four where you could like pop <v Speaker 2>into people's games and you'd have the oh keys, the kirat. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah yeah right yes, where you can like see yeah. <v Speaker 1>Didn't they eventually they did something like that with Google <v Speaker 1>Stadia whatever. Either way, it's cool that that's functionalities back. Uh. <v Speaker 1>Nintendo switched to Welcome to Her, so they have their <v Speaker 1>own version of like Astro's Playroom or one of these <v Speaker 1>introductory demo collections, and it's gonna cost money. It's not free. <v Speaker 1>It's so weird, like basically you play, it's like a <v Speaker 1>little character that I don't know this is gonna be <v Speaker 1>in reference to that Nintendo fans get, but it looks <v Speaker 1>like the same characters from like Clubhouse Games, that one <v Speaker 1>that came out for Switch. But he's like shrunk down <v Speaker 1>and walking around the face of a switch to joy <v Speaker 1>Con and he's saying things like where are the magnets? <v Speaker 1>And then the switch to the switch to Welcome to <v Speaker 1>Her will show. <v Speaker 2>You like Dan rik it when he said all of my. <v Speaker 1>Weird characters sound like either Dan Ryker or Daffy Duck <v Speaker 1>or both, and my Dan Rekord impression does sound like <v Speaker 1>Daffy Duck. Yeah, I think that this is a neat thing. <v Speaker 1>I can't imagine why the hair charchie. Why is this <v Speaker 1>just not included in the switch to Like, you know, <v Speaker 1>you get a steam Deck Lucy and that you get <v Speaker 1>that little introductory thing from Valve, or you get their <v Speaker 1>our headset and you get the introductory games that show <v Speaker 1>you like what all the stuff does, and it's like <v Speaker 1>you're in aperture science labs and your restaurant with stuff, <v Speaker 1>and all that stuff's always free. What is wrong with Nintendo? <v Speaker 1>Other than everything. <v Speaker 2>They want money. <v Speaker 1>They do seem to want money. <v Speaker 2>Times they just want money. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I can't like just include it, Nintendo, don't be <v Speaker 1>so weird. It's not just like educational. There were some <v Speaker 1>like here's here take those switch to joycon move like <v Speaker 1>a mouse, and you could do some putting minigames and <v Speaker 1>things like that, but it's like nowhere even close to <v Speaker 1>an Astros play room, and yet Astros Playroom included in <v Speaker 1>every PS five. So very weird company doing very weird things. <v Speaker 1>We mentioned this earlier. Mario Party Jamboree is getting an upgrade. <v Speaker 1>This will be a new addition to Mario Party. It's <v Speaker 1>Super Mario Party Jamboree. It'll have new games, new minigames. <v Speaker 1>I don't know if they said new boards, but it <v Speaker 1>will have a new function and this is to bring <v Speaker 1>in all of that stuff with the camera and the <v Speaker 1>game chat and all this stuff will be exclusive to <v Speaker 1>Switch To, and I think they are planning to have <v Speaker 1>there's an upgrade path and then there's also they're selling <v Speaker 1>the game separately for switch To with all this stuff included. <v Speaker 1>So it'll be a Switch two box on the shelf <v Speaker 1>with this for the upgrade path, Lucy, so far as <v Speaker 1>far as I can see, and again, Chat, we're keeping <v Speaker 1>an eye on you. If you have more details, if <v Speaker 1>you've seen anything more, let us know. They haven't really <v Speaker 1>said what that upgrade path will be. If you want <v Speaker 1>to buy it a la carte, if you want to <v Speaker 1>go out there and get upgrade for the game that <v Speaker 1>you own, they haven't said. But if you're a Nintendo <v Speaker 1>Switch Online Expansion Pack member, that fifty dollars a year <v Speaker 1>tier you get all of you get not all of them, <v Speaker 1>you get many of these upgrades for free or included. <v Speaker 2>I should say, yeah, to me, this feels like a <v Speaker 2>ten dollar I think. <v Speaker 1>That's probably going to be right, and then the switch <v Speaker 1>to version is just seventy dollars, right, Like that's how <v Speaker 1>they do that. Yeah, that's the way PlayStation's done it <v Speaker 1>many times. I think Nintendo copying that, at least in <v Speaker 1>the case of games where they have upgrades. That makes <v Speaker 1>some sense. Yeah, I thought that. I thought all those <v Speaker 1>Mario Party things looked pretty fun. They looked pretty cool. <v Speaker 2>I genuine it was like icon't wait. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, where they did even the eye toy stuff where <v Speaker 1>they were balancing the goomers on their head. I thought <v Speaker 1>that was very cute. And yeah, I kind of can't wait. <v Speaker 1>Enhanced Zelda games and they're so they're enhancing both Breadth <v Speaker 1>of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom with like <v Speaker 1>things like HDR, upgraded graphics, improved frame rate. They showed <v Speaker 1>it off. It looked really good. I guess this is <v Speaker 1>the time to point out this is the first time <v Speaker 1>Nintendo has ever done one of these streams or maybe <v Speaker 1>uploaded anything to YouTube in four K. It was so <v Speaker 1>oh wow. Yeah, and so it was like streaming at <v Speaker 1>four K. A lot of these games are gonna output <v Speaker 1>it four K and then you know, probably Zelda's case, <v Speaker 1>get uprest like ten ADP and then or at least <v Speaker 1>they'll render it at ten ADP and then upreds it <v Speaker 1>to four K. But it looked really, really nice, and <v Speaker 1>I was like, oh man, I would like to play <v Speaker 1>these games again with improved visuals. That's really promising. As <v Speaker 1>we mentioned there is the mouse functionality has been confirmed. <v Speaker 1>They showed it off a bunch of times. <v Speaker 2>They invented smart glass. <v Speaker 1>Yes, they also that's right, that's right. Yeah. The app <v Speaker 1>was that the Nintendo Today app? Or is it a <v Speaker 1>separate app? Either way, there's a separate app can give <v Speaker 1>you details about Zelda as you're playing the game, and <v Speaker 1>you can then get QR codes when you create something <v Speaker 1>using ultrahand uh to like when you create your various contraptions. <v Speaker 1>You could share it with your friends using the app, <v Speaker 1>or they could share it with you, or you can <v Speaker 1>go online and find a resource so you don't have <v Speaker 1>to build things yourself. But it was very smart glass. <v Speaker 2>It's very do you remember the Pallenteer app? <v Speaker 1>I don't. <v Speaker 2>They had Full Shadow of Mordel. <v Speaker 1>That sounds familiar. <v Speaker 2>Yes, yeah, they had like a smart glass kind of <v Speaker 2>similar app where it was like tracking where you were, <v Speaker 2>give you lore, give you a bunch of stuff. So yeah, <v Speaker 2>very very nice mix of those. <v Speaker 1>There are people who are like trying to help us <v Speaker 1>find sources saying that the upgrades will be about ten dollars, <v Speaker 1>but you know it's it's eighty five hundred yen in Japan, <v Speaker 1>which is eight dollars and fifty cents. Ish. It gets <v Speaker 1>very hard these days to do these conversions with you know, everything, <v Speaker 1>I'm waving at the world everybody. <v Speaker 3>That's for the full game. They're looking at, oh, one <v Speaker 3>thousand for the while they're looking at twenty or sorry, <v Speaker 3>two thousand yen for Kirby. So that's presumably going to <v Speaker 3>translate to like ten dollars and twenty dollars depending. <v Speaker 1>On the game, right, Okay, yes, thank you? Eighty five hundred, Yes, <v Speaker 1>that would be eighty, like eighty five dollars. <v Speaker 2>Jeez, you can get a text free if it's over <v Speaker 2>fifty five. <v Speaker 1>That's right. I just write it all off. I just <v Speaker 1>buy it with the game mess account. I was all right. <v Speaker 1>The next one was Drag and Drive, which Mike Minatti <v Speaker 1>referred to as woke Rocket League. It's you. <v Speaker 2>Oh my god, No he didn't. <v Speaker 1>He did, and then he said, I'm not even sorry. <v Speaker 1>It is a new game to show off the mouth <v Speaker 1>less He's shocked. It worked in the moment. Let me see, <v Speaker 1>I don't worry. It's he got away with it. They <v Speaker 1>show basically, this is a way for them to have <v Speaker 1>mouse functionality in one game, so that it could be like, <v Speaker 1>here's something you can do, and it is characters in <v Speaker 1>wheelchairs like dunking and basketball, and as you are moved, <v Speaker 1>both joycon as mice. On its surface, it is like <v Speaker 1>you're controlling the wheels of the wheelchair. It's neat. <v Speaker 2>It looked really cool, like especially the way where you <v Speaker 2>could wave to get someone to throw the ball at you, <v Speaker 2>like to dung like. I thought there was a really <v Speaker 2>fun implementation of those motion controls and the little mouse <v Speaker 2>watching out. <v Speaker 1>I did too. I think that this would have been <v Speaker 1>better if it was like one of the games in <v Speaker 1>like a new Pilot Wings or like a variation on <v Speaker 1>that series where it's like, let's put a bunch of <v Speaker 1>ideas into one game. I don't know how much this <v Speaker 1>can sort of stand. Oh, I can't. That didn't mean <v Speaker 1>to do that. I swear to God, I didn't to <v Speaker 1>do it. I didn't mean it. Lucy, No, don't cancel me. <v Speaker 1>Oh she's a shaved just to be on the show. <v Speaker 1>I don't. <v Speaker 2>I don't want to get trigged down. <v Speaker 1>I don't believe you. I don't know if this one <v Speaker 1>can sort of survive on its own. It does remind <v Speaker 1>me of like Destruction All Stars, and honestly, Destruction all <v Speaker 1>Stars look better than this, so we'll see, yeh. Then <v Speaker 1>there was a bunch of third party games. Let's go <v Speaker 1>through them here. Delta Rune is going to be coming <v Speaker 1>to the system. That's the complete game. Trappers one, two, three, <v Speaker 1>and four all in one bundle yep, yep, Borderlands four yep. <v Speaker 1>And then let's see. <v Speaker 2>Was Randy Pittford in a shiny jacket? <v Speaker 1>Oh weird he wears shiny jackets now, a very interesting <v Speaker 1>character development for him. Sidmeyers Civilization seven Nintendo Switch to edition. <v Speaker 1>That mouse functionality added, as many predicted it would, w <v Speaker 1>w E two K, NBA two K, Survival Kids Enter <v Speaker 1>the Gungeon two Star Seeker Steer Expeditions, a new asterneer game, <v Speaker 1>Cyber Cyberpunk twenty seventy seven Ultimate Edition, Final Final Fantasy <v Speaker 1>seven remake, Integrate elden Ring Tarnished Edition, Hadis two Street <v Speaker 1>Fighters six and then as I think Sean added here, <v Speaker 1>local wireless matches are so back, baby, that will be <v Speaker 1>pretty cool. Actually, let's see Damon X Machina Titanic Zion <v Speaker 1>Split Fiction, EA Sports Football Club, EA Sports, Madden NFL, <v Speaker 1>Hogwarts Legacy. <v Speaker 2>Funny to me that they put EA Sports on that <v Speaker 2>because those versions of FIFA are what was it? IGN <v Speaker 2>would give them two out of ten every year and <v Speaker 2>they would copy paste their own review because EA would <v Speaker 2>just copy paste every year. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean we I don't know if we know <v Speaker 1>that's going to be the case anymore. This could be <v Speaker 1>full fat FIFA. <v Speaker 2>But it's still one of my favorite things. I jenas <v Speaker 2>I've done Simon Cotty Special. <v Speaker 1>It was a good move, and that's very fair to <v Speaker 1>that game because those were just roster updates and that's it, <v Speaker 1>and they were charging for it new every year. Hit <v Speaker 1>Man World of Assassination Signature Edition, and they showed off <v Speaker 1>a glimpse, a sort of tease of Project Double O seven, <v Speaker 1>which is coming to switch to as well, from IOI <v Speaker 1>Interactive Bravely to. <v Speaker 2>All the places I thought we would see. Yeah, Project <v Speaker 2>double O seven, I would not have been the switch <v Speaker 2>to reveal. <v Speaker 1>I know that I felt the same way. And then <v Speaker 1>it's like once it's going, It's like James Bond and <v Speaker 1>Nintendo have a long history. That's where a lot of <v Speaker 1>gamers still associate James Bond with Golden I Double oh <v Speaker 1>seven on N sixty four, So I guess it does fit. <v Speaker 1>But you're right, I was not expecting that to be <v Speaker 1>at this showcase. Bravely, Default, Flying Fairy HD remaster, Yakaza <v Speaker 1>zero Director's Cut, can Itsugami brow Yeah. <v Speaker 2>New cut scenes. Yeah, I'm gonna be playing. Let's genuinely, <v Speaker 2>I tweet I posted this on Blue Sky, but I <v Speaker 2>was like, why is it. I'm forty minutes into the <v Speaker 2>direct and Yakaza is the killer app for the switch <v Speaker 2>to for me? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, It's that was surprising and really that you know. <v Speaker 1>I'm gonna keep going through this list in a second, <v Speaker 1>but let's talk about this real quick. A lot of <v Speaker 1>these versions coming to switch to are like Colon New Edition, <v Speaker 1>Director's Cut, Tarner's Edition. They're doing the Batman Arkham Knight <v Speaker 1>Armored Edition. But it feels like in a lot of <v Speaker 1>these cases, this is like pretty robust, like there's a <v Speaker 1>lot of extra stuff in there, or at least a <v Speaker 1>little something extra here and there. I think there are, <v Speaker 1>For example, in the Tarnished edition of Elden Ring, it's <v Speaker 1>going to include some Nintendo stuff in there. I think <v Speaker 1>it's what people are saying, not a ton, but maybe <v Speaker 1>a few items that are inspired by Nintendo. <v Speaker 2>Well, so you'll have the Master Sault. <v Speaker 1>Something like that. <v Speaker 2>You know. <v Speaker 1>Again, I'm working, I'm trying to keep up here, but <v Speaker 1>if people want to put exactly what that was, I <v Speaker 1>thought that's what I saw. But a lot of stuff <v Speaker 1>does have or a lot of these games do have <v Speaker 1>things like that. <v Speaker 2>I can of love that, but it's also very surprising <v Speaker 2>to me that the Hitline stuff especially, It is so <v Speaker 2>surprising to me that Nintendo would allow their properties to <v Speaker 2>be used in such violent games like that. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I think, you know, I think Nintendo probably got <v Speaker 1>sold on to be like it's kind of slapstick, but <v Speaker 1>also Nintendo, you know, working with frum Off where we'll <v Speaker 1>get to that in a little bit on an M <v Speaker 1>rated Yeah, so I don't know, maybe they've changed their <v Speaker 1>tune a little bit, but yes, the hit Man World <v Speaker 1>of Sassin Assassination Signature edition also has Nintendo inspired stuff. <v Speaker 1>Uh so yeah, I hope you get to play with <v Speaker 1>Louis act. <v Speaker 2>I just thought I could be playing the Cabaret Club <v Speaker 2>mini game on the go all the time exactly. <v Speaker 1>That's this will be how I actually fully finally play. <v Speaker 1>Yeahcuz Zero, I believe. <v Speaker 2>Oh my god, we should play through. <v Speaker 1>That would be fantastic. <v Speaker 2>Uh Colleen, you me Madima. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. Hollow Night's Silk Song. I actually did appear in <v Speaker 1>a sizzle reel for like five seconds they said coming <v Speaker 1>out this year. <v Speaker 2>Saying to me, yep, that was insane. I was like, <v Speaker 2>if you're going to put silk Song in something and <v Speaker 2>still say that it's twenty twenty five, and the krum <v Speaker 2>that you give people, it's just boy, it's just it's <v Speaker 2>just funny. Now, it's just funny. <v Speaker 1>Yep, chat is right. I was mixing up hit Man <v Speaker 1>and Elden ring a hit Man is the thing with <v Speaker 1>the items that are inspired by Ninten. Let's see if <v Speaker 1>I have you bring this in here real quick so <v Speaker 1>people could. <v Speaker 2>Just I was gonna say because there's Yeah, I don't <v Speaker 2>I met where would where would they? That would be <v Speaker 2>so out of character for yeah, got the moonlight great swords. <v Speaker 1>I'm sorry, I'm the big reference. I'm just seeing these <v Speaker 1>Mario items in Hitman for the first time. <v Speaker 2>Oh wait, wait you. <v Speaker 1>I We'll see here if you to shoot catch up <v Speaker 1>watching the video version on the site. That is hit <v Speaker 1>Man Agent forty seven in a red suit with a mustache. <v Speaker 1>And then you can get a mushroom apparently in a <v Speaker 1>golden wrench maybe that he could throw at people I <v Speaker 1>don't know. And then let's see here there is also <v Speaker 1>a Luigi one. You can dress him up as Hitman <v Speaker 1>Luigi and kill maybe. There's definitely levels with CEOs and <v Speaker 1>at everybody. <v Speaker 2>So oh, I mean the final one on this signature <v Speaker 2>pack where he has the white suit with the red shirt, <v Speaker 2>and I was like, that's giving hear you? <v Speaker 1>Oh for sure? Yes, I see that too. Yeah, that's <v Speaker 1>a curio look for sure. All right, let's get through <v Speaker 1>the rest of this. Let me bring it back here <v Speaker 1>real quick. Uh okay, so Hogwarts Legacy I left off <v Speaker 1>there no story of seasons, Grand Bizarre, good Night Universe <v Speaker 1>two point Museum, Wild Hearts, Witchbrook, Puyo Puyo, Tetris Two <v Speaker 1>S Run Factory, Guardians of Asthma, Marvel Cosmic, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, <v Speaker 1>Star Wars Outlaws, which was the only Ubi Soft game <v Speaker 1>at this entire event. Normally UBI Soft's are right there <v Speaker 1>day and day, ready to go with a ton of support. <v Speaker 1>Seems like they just dance. There was no just dance, <v Speaker 1>nothing like that now. I mean that doesn't mean they <v Speaker 1>don't doesn't show up somewhere else eventually, but Ubi stuft <v Speaker 1>is maybe not in the place where they once were, <v Speaker 1>where they could be ready to go with a bunch <v Speaker 1>of support for new hardware. I think that says more <v Speaker 1>about UBI Soft than anything else, because you got EA <v Speaker 1>bringing games to this thing, and ub stuff can only <v Speaker 1>do Outlaws, but Outlaws on the switch to That's pretty exciting. <v Speaker 1>I like that game. No Bonaga's Ambition Awakening Complete addition, <v Speaker 1>Fast Fusion, Shadow Labyrinth, Rado remastered The Mystery of the <v Speaker 1>soulas Army No Sleep for Economy Date from AI. The <v Speaker 1>Somnium Files. I'm gonna say I the Somnium Files as <v Speaker 1>how I think they said it in the direct re <v Speaker 1>Animal Fortnite, Arcade Archives two, Ridge Racer coming out launch day. <v Speaker 1>This was a big one for Mikey. He's wanted some <v Speaker 1>more Ridge Racer stuff. I'm also pretty excited about the <v Speaker 1>idea of Arcade Archives two, implying that we'll get like <v Speaker 1>sort of the next gen of Arcade ports to the <v Speaker 1>switch To. That's that's pretty fun. Professor Layton and the <v Speaker 1>New World of Steam. First time seeing that in a minute, <v Speaker 1>I like Pressure Layton quite a bit, Tamago Chi Plaza, <v Speaker 1>Human Fall Flat two, and then there was a bunch <v Speaker 1>of other things that kind of like had some smaller <v Speaker 1>upgrades from Switch one games like SIEV seven, which will <v Speaker 1>now support the mouse, as we talked about earlier. Alright, <v Speaker 1>let's keep going here. High Rule Warriors, Age of Imprisonment. <v Speaker 1>Zelda is back for switch To in the classic way <v Speaker 1>Nintendo is known for before before Temple Zelda releases, they've <v Speaker 1>had games like this in the past. Is that this <v Speaker 1>is the third one. It's going to take place before <v Speaker 1>Tiers of the Kingdom, and it's going to tell the <v Speaker 1>sort of history of Zelda. Being stuck in the past <v Speaker 1>is the implication here. So that's pretty cool. Although I'm <v Speaker 1>i don't know. I'm not super hot on these games. <v Speaker 1>I get pretty bored with them kind of fast. Although <v Speaker 1>for this one it should run a lot better than <v Speaker 1>those games did on the Switch one, which were notorious <v Speaker 1>for having bad frame rates. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I think I tried to play Pasona five Strikers <v Speaker 2>and that was not a not a fun muso experience. <v Speaker 1>Out Chilli Bean, Chilli Bean, chill. <v Speaker 2>Just excited about Professor Layton. <v Speaker 1>I don't blame her, me too. GameCube games so coming <v Speaker 1>to Nintendo Switch Online, this is something that I think <v Speaker 1>I was hoping for, but it was hard to get <v Speaker 1>my hopes up too high. They had games announced like <v Speaker 1>during this thing, including the Legend of Zelda, The wind Waker, <v Speaker 1>Soul Caliber two, and F Zero g X. All these <v Speaker 1>things will support that sort of online mode where it's <v Speaker 1>basically they are faking local multiplayer with multiple systems online <v Speaker 1>so it feels like you can actually play online against <v Speaker 1>one another. You can. And then games announced to come <v Speaker 1>later include Super Mario Sunshine Fire Emblem, Path of Radiance, <v Speaker 1>Pokemon Coliseum, Pokemon XD, Gale of Darkness, Super Mario Strikers, <v Speaker 1>Chibi Robo, Luigi's Mansion. Now I do some point it <v Speaker 1>put this here and I want to thank them. Metroit <v Speaker 1>Prime too not announced for this, and that makes me <v Speaker 1>think maybe there's still a chance. Because Metroit Prime did <v Speaker 1>not get a release date. During this event, they did <v Speaker 1>show off improvements for Metro Prime four, which included like <v Speaker 1>it's going to run at ten eighty one and twenty <v Speaker 1>frames per second, which is a really wild thing for <v Speaker 1>the Nintendo system. But I'm hoping that it's going to <v Speaker 1>go like Pickman did, where a month before Pickman four <v Speaker 1>came out they put two or one and two on <v Speaker 1>Switch and that's long after they are had three to looks. <v Speaker 1>So I'm hoping this situation is similar here where a <v Speaker 1>month out from Metro Prime four, whenever that comes out, <v Speaker 1>now it's the only like that's coming out. Later this <v Speaker 1>year we get Metro Prime two and three. That's definitely <v Speaker 1>copium dream. Yes, maybe it's opium, and maybe that's all <v Speaker 1>it really is, but I will we'll see. I think <v Speaker 1>there's a chance that that's the way it could go down. <v Speaker 1>But hey, GameCube games on Nintendo Switch Online, Lucy, they <v Speaker 1>probably let you pick and choose which ones you download <v Speaker 1>the other. The way it works right now is with <v Speaker 1>like the Super Nintendo app. It just downloads all those <v Speaker 1>ROMs onto your switch when you have that app, so <v Speaker 1>they're just ready to go. But those are megabytes. This <v Speaker 1>is each one of these games is going to be <v Speaker 1>about a gigabyte. Like you probably don't want all of <v Speaker 1>them taking up your space on your switch to right. <v Speaker 2>Well, because also didn't they say that the SD cards <v Speaker 2>aren't going to work. <v Speaker 1>The original SD cards from the switch one will work <v Speaker 1>right like you know, I said, like from the switch one, <v Speaker 1>the ones that worked on the switch one, like old <v Speaker 1>technology of SD cards. There's a new generation of SD <v Speaker 1>card extreme that will work on switch to you, and <v Speaker 1>those are going to be faster and support larger sizes. <v Speaker 1>But this system also if. <v Speaker 2>You already have a bunch yeah, if you already have <v Speaker 2>like a bunch of storage options and then they're not <v Speaker 2>going to work, it would suck if this new system <v Speaker 2>just automatically downloaded stuff for you, that would blow. So <v Speaker 2>I really hope they don't do that. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I they probably won't. I think that makes sense. <v Speaker 1>But hey, overall, I'm excited about this. There are a <v Speaker 1>ton of GameCube games that really stand no chance of <v Speaker 1>getting remastered that they can put in here. There's even <v Speaker 1>more that, like, we'll have licenses that will make it <v Speaker 1>difficult for them to even end up in this thing, <v Speaker 1>but this is a good middle ground of hey, like <v Speaker 1>star Fox Assault should end up in here eventually, so <v Speaker 1>looking forward to it. All right, you know we mentioned <v Speaker 1>all those third party games that's this is kind of <v Speaker 1>like when they were happening, and then we got on <v Speaker 1>the other side of that and they sort of did <v Speaker 1>the you know, the home stretch with from softwarares The <v Speaker 1>Dusk Bloods, which really came out of nowhere. For me, <v Speaker 1>I was not expecting this. Really, we were watching it <v Speaker 1>and while while I was looking at I'm like, it <v Speaker 1>looks like a from Soft game, But a lot of <v Speaker 1>games look like from Soft games these days because everyone's <v Speaker 1>inspired by them. And so I was like, maybe maybe <v Speaker 1>this is that Castlevania game that has been rumored for <v Speaker 1>a long time, And then. <v Speaker 2>It I wondered if it was Castlevania, it. <v Speaker 1>Would have made a ton of sense. In fact, it <v Speaker 1>would make more sense than what this actually is, which <v Speaker 1>is from software to the Dusk Bloods. It is separate <v Speaker 1>from that Eldering Night Ring game, but this is also <v Speaker 1>kind of focused on multiplayer It is an eight player <v Speaker 1>PVPVE title with online multiplayer at its core. Now, PVPVE <v Speaker 1>makes it sound like something inspired by like an extraction <v Speaker 1>shooter or something like that. <v Speaker 2>Well, Nightrain has PV Yeah, that's PvE. <v Speaker 1>Yes, this is PVPVP. Yes, So this is going to <v Speaker 1>be player versus player versus environment based. I don't know. <v Speaker 1>I'm trying to think of a good example of. <v Speaker 2>Coll theme in elden Ring, right, you can't you can <v Speaker 2>do PV. You can't obviously do PvP a lot of <v Speaker 2>prom games. So is it like what Night Rain meets <v Speaker 2>the Colors theum? <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I mean here's my but do you do you? <v Speaker 2>I wonder if you spend like similar to the night <v Speaker 2>Rain loop, but you spend the day, you spend the <v Speaker 2>day collecting, battling AI enemies whatever, and then you face <v Speaker 2>off against someone else at night or I don't know, <v Speaker 2>it's interesting. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. My expectation here is it's two teams of four <v Speaker 1>going in and competing for a big prize that you <v Speaker 1>have to fight, you know, in game enemies to get. <v Speaker 1>But then if you run into each other, you need <v Speaker 1>to take the other team out. And there's there have <v Speaker 1>been other games like that. I mean the one that <v Speaker 1>keeps coming to mind. I think there was like a <v Speaker 1>Robin Hood game or something like that that didn't Yeah, <v Speaker 1>baby back and from making it. That's a good example. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>I think from Soft really nail this, but also from <v Speaker 1>Soft's online is often weird and and you know, byzantine <v Speaker 1>and weird. As I was saying how I want Nintendo <v Speaker 1>system to work, but I mean that doesn't mean that <v Speaker 1>wouldn't it wouldn't be fun. So I'm hopeful, and it <v Speaker 1>looks really interesting. This game is exclusive to the switch To. <v Speaker 1>They are saying this is a switch to game only. <v Speaker 2>Is it time exclusive? <v Speaker 1>They aren't saying that, but I bet it ends up <v Speaker 1>on PC eventually, maybe not that long afterward. <v Speaker 2>Okay, I'm on, I'm on the Dust Bloods official website. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>is it me Zaki? I don't know. He's referenced. He's <v Speaker 2>referenced in the press release as just the president of <v Speaker 2>from Software. <v Speaker 1>He's doing, uh their they have they're having some conversation <v Speaker 1>with him. Nintendo is, but I don't think he's directing this. <v Speaker 1>I'm sure he's involved. He's involved in all their games, <v Speaker 1>but I don't think this is a. <v Speaker 2>Go ahead plays the buzz one a group that has <v Speaker 2>transcended human strength thanks to their special blood, and throw <v Speaker 2>yourself into a violent pray for first blood as the <v Speaker 2>twilight of humanity approaches. <v Speaker 1>I mean it sounds like a party to me. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, eight players vie for supremacy among themselves and against <v Speaker 2>challenging those. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. I would have to find the source, Jeff. <v Speaker 3>I believe when they announced the talking to the director thing, <v Speaker 3>I believe he was mentioned as director of Miyazaki. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. I thought I heard that as well, Sean So, so, yeah, <v Speaker 1>let's let's look into that. At the very least, you know, <v Speaker 1>this is a from Soft game, just like Armored Corps <v Speaker 1>or Dark Souls too, where it's even when he's not involved, <v Speaker 1>he's there, very much involved in development. Uh, in a <v Speaker 1>way those watch it, Yes, he's watching. It's not like <v Speaker 1>even like a Meamoto situation these days, where Miyamoto is there, <v Speaker 1>but he's very much in the background, and it's sort <v Speaker 1>of just like understanding, like maybe he could show up <v Speaker 1>one day and we want to make sure he's impressed. <v Speaker 1>It's not like that he is there giving advice to <v Speaker 1>all the people making these games by guiding them. <v Speaker 3>I can't find what we say all, but on the <v Speaker 3>Nintendo YouTube channel is mentioned has learn more about the <v Speaker 3>Dust Bloods and creators voice interview with director Miyazaki available <v Speaker 3>on the Fishing Nintendo website in April fourth. <v Speaker 1>Well, I mean, all right, then this is Miyazaki's new game. <v Speaker 1>I think that the way I read this, Lucy, is <v Speaker 1>from Software does like working with partners, and they've had <v Speaker 1>some really good U success working with Vanda Nanco for <v Speaker 1>a long time. I don't think they have this what's that. <v Speaker 1>I don't think band MKO is involved in this, that <v Speaker 1>this is all this is just between Nintendo and from Soft. <v Speaker 1>But I think the way I read it is Fromsoft <v Speaker 1>did not necessarily love the way things went down with Bloodborne, <v Speaker 1>and I think that they're like happy to go work <v Speaker 1>with another big company on something like this and uh <v Speaker 1>and Nintendo was apparently ready and willing to make that happen. <v Speaker 1>That's the weird side of it to me, is Nintendo <v Speaker 1>being like, yes, we'll help from Software make an exclusive <v Speaker 1>game for the Switch too. But in terms of like <v Speaker 1>you know, coming on this direct, Lucy, I think you <v Speaker 1>mentioned it's like you know that's this isn't a day <v Speaker 1>one thing for me and it was always going to <v Speaker 1>be day one thing for me. But I think if <v Speaker 1>it didn't have this game, I would have been, like, <v Speaker 1>you know that direct felt like it was it didn't <v Speaker 1>quite have everything it needed. It wasn't fully there. Clearly <v Speaker 1>still not enough first party games announced for early the <v Speaker 1>early part of the Switch to His Life, but the <v Speaker 1>fact that it's like they have a Frumsoft game that's exclusive, <v Speaker 1>I kind of can't miss that. So this is interesting. <v Speaker 2>But it's not until twenty six, so that's right. <v Speaker 1>This is not until twenty six, yes, so people have <v Speaker 1>plenty of time to get their hands on a Switch <v Speaker 1>to before this comes out. I'm sorry. There are so <v Speaker 1>many cool images in this trailer, like that insane moon <v Speaker 1>that looks like Yoko Taro and then that flying ten <v Speaker 1>men who had like a rocket pack steam thing. I <v Speaker 1>don't know, it's pretty wild, all right. <v Speaker 2>Some way Vassi video is shaken. <v Speaker 1>Yep, he's got a lot of work to do. Okay. <v Speaker 1>They didn't end it there. There were still two more <v Speaker 1>our first party games from Nintendo to talk about. The <v Speaker 1>first one was the new game from mast Hero Sakarai <v Speaker 1>Kirby air Riders, which will launch this year. It is <v Speaker 1>a sequel to the Kirby Air Ride game for the GameCube. <v Speaker 1>I think that uh Sakai always I say it's a <v Speaker 1>soft spot for this game. He is a soft spot <v Speaker 1>for all of his games, So the fact that he <v Speaker 1>returned to this franchise isn't too surprising. But maybe it's <v Speaker 1>a little surprising because of how it fits into the <v Speaker 1>lineup of the Switch to Lucy. They have Mario Kart <v Speaker 1>and then they have another racing game in Kirby Air Riders. <v Speaker 1>That's a little strange, but they will play very differently, <v Speaker 1>And I think Sakarai probably at this point is like <v Speaker 1>saying to Nintendo, I'm just gonna make what I want <v Speaker 1>to make, and you guys can say yes or no, <v Speaker 1>But if you say no, I'm just not going to <v Speaker 1>work on anything for you. So I think he kind <v Speaker 1>of can write his own checks at this point. <v Speaker 2>I think so too, And I don't know, I'm excited <v Speaker 2>to see him work on something that he's also very <v Speaker 2>passionate about, and like, I don't know, you could tell <v Speaker 2>that by the end of Smash he was just very <v Speaker 2>over it. Oh yeah, so yeah, I hope he just <v Speaker 2>doesn't get run into the ground. I hope he's working <v Speaker 2>on something that he's enjoying. <v Speaker 1>Yep, and showing the trailer here. It's so they don't <v Speaker 1>show too much. Eventually we get to I mean, these <v Speaker 1>this is all CG and stuff. But the game's coming <v Speaker 1>out this year, so we'll see more of it at <v Speaker 1>some point. But yeah, even does the thing where it's <v Speaker 1>like Kirby Air Ride and then they put the RS <v Speaker 1>on the end to make it Kirby Air Riders. It's like, <v Speaker 1>what are you doing? That's like, that's a weird way <v Speaker 1>to introduce this game. But it definitely was a saccharai <v Speaker 1>style trailer. Yeah, all right, and then the final thing <v Speaker 1>was what I am presuming and maybe I could be corrected, <v Speaker 1>but I think this is the new game from the <v Speaker 1>three D Mario team, Donkey Kong Bonanza, a Donkey Kong <v Speaker 1>three D platformer where that is using the new Donkey <v Speaker 1>Kong design that we saw in uh when we first <v Speaker 1>were seeing Mario Kart World. This game looks really good. <v Speaker 2>It's it looks really fun. It looks not a Donkey <v Speaker 2>Kong person. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I don't think that's going to matter for that. <v Speaker 1>This seems like Nintendo kind of taking Donkey Kong back <v Speaker 1>and doing their own thing with it. So like if <v Speaker 1>you have a history of like Donkey Kong sixty four <v Speaker 1>and Donkey Kong Country, those are all rare games, and <v Speaker 1>I don't think that Nintendo ever felt felt like they <v Speaker 1>those were fully their So obviously those games sold very well, <v Speaker 1>especially the Country game, so Nintendo adopted them. But I <v Speaker 1>think there's a reason that this is a redesigned Donkey Kong. <v Speaker 1>It's meant to be like this is a new fresh start, <v Speaker 1>and I yeah, I think it looks fantastic, especially all <v Speaker 1>these things that they're doing with like Donkey Kong punching <v Speaker 1>the ground, picking up chunks of earth and deforming the <v Speaker 1>land like geomotting in Red Faction. It is a pretty <v Speaker 1>wild thing to see. I mean, I'm seeing this. It <v Speaker 1>looks like when you were punching all the bits in <v Speaker 1>Astrobot and how fun that was, but now on a <v Speaker 1>scale where you can deform the entire terrain. And we <v Speaker 1>don't know like what the limitations are, but they definitely <v Speaker 1>are showing a lot of that in this trailer, so <v Speaker 1>it's going to be a focus. I am super excited <v Speaker 1>about this, and this game is not some far away thing, <v Speaker 1>it's not even holiday if this is coming out in July, <v Speaker 1>so switch to will come out in June. Donkey Kung <v Speaker 1>Binanza will be there in July. To me, that feels <v Speaker 1>like a pretty good one two punch between Mario Kart <v Speaker 1>and this. How do you feel about the launch window <v Speaker 1>from Nintendo? <v Speaker 2>One hundred percent? I mean, I'm excited to see more things, <v Speaker 2>and especially like Third Party as they lock in releases <v Speaker 2>a lot of them. I almost posted it because it <v Speaker 2>became kind of a meme to me even halfway through <v Speaker 2>the direct where it was like, will be available on <v Speaker 2>Nintendo switch too when it launches later this year, or <v Speaker 2>like day one when it launches later this year, because <v Speaker 2>it was so funny that clearly the partners had not <v Speaker 2>really were not allowed to say yep, and so it <v Speaker 2>was like very clear. But no, I think that's a <v Speaker 2>really good window. <v Speaker 1>Forum. <v Speaker 2>I think you are kind of giving different audiences what <v Speaker 2>they want. You know, you are really keying in on <v Speaker 2>people who want to play the multiplayer, who want to <v Speaker 2>just unbox it around the TV, have that family time <v Speaker 2>like it's a Christmas morning kind of vibe Christmas in July, <v Speaker 2>Christmas in June, and then yeah, you've got the single <v Speaker 2>play stuff kind of start to roll out, and I <v Speaker 2>like that they are giving it, you know, like a <v Speaker 2>month between these two releases, because yeah, I just honestly, <v Speaker 2>both of them really appealed to me, and I wouldn't <v Speaker 2>know which one to jump into first. Yeah, I'm glad. <v Speaker 1>I think when I look at this trail, the reason <v Speaker 1>I think it's the Mario team and I have not <v Speaker 1>had that confirmed, but there are character designs that look <v Speaker 1>just like the enemies right here, this guy maybe we'll <v Speaker 1>get on this, say, maybe he'll make his face again. <v Speaker 1>One of these bosses. Look. Oh yeah, this guy right <v Speaker 1>here looks a lot like the brutals from Super Mario Odyssey. <v Speaker 1>I feel like the same. Maybe you know, maybe it's <v Speaker 1>same artists, different team, but I doubt it. I think <v Speaker 1>this is a three D Mario team, So Lucy, that means, <v Speaker 1>are we not getting a three D Mario anytime soon? <v Speaker 1>I kind of can't see how that would happen. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>but that means that's bizarre because it's like it's been <v Speaker 1>a long time since Odyssey. <v Speaker 2>It's yeah, twenty seventeen was Odyssey. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. <v Speaker 2>Oh, I'm just catching up on the stream to see <v Speaker 2>where you paused it. There is there's that, man. Yeah, <v Speaker 2>I mean I really I think part of me we <v Speaker 2>just really hoped for it because I loved, honestly so <v Speaker 2>much that I was hoping for for all the next one. Yes, however, <v Speaker 2>if this is going to be kind of a gateway <v Speaker 2>game for me to get more into Donkey Kong, because <v Speaker 2>I didn't really grow up a Nintendo and so it's <v Speaker 2>more like I'm siphoning the excitement that I had about <v Speaker 2>a new three D Mario into this three D Donkey Kong. <v Speaker 2>And also the name fantastic. Yes, I love it. <v Speaker 1>Bonanza Bananza, he likes bananas. Someone mentioned Red Faction Gorilla, <v Speaker 1>as in this is a Gorilla and it's the same <v Speaker 1>text tech as a Red Faction game, which very funny. Yeah, listen, <v Speaker 1>I am I want a new three D Mario, But this, <v Speaker 1>in my eye eyes is basically that it's basically that, <v Speaker 1>just with a slightly different character. And frankly, you know, <v Speaker 1>Donkey Kong and Mario they're in the same universe. I <v Speaker 1>wouldn't be surprised if Mario shows up and some like <v Speaker 1>tertiary way in this game, like where he's just kind <v Speaker 1>of on the side and then you know, maybe at <v Speaker 1>some point he becomes a playable character. I doubt it, <v Speaker 1>but I'm completely happy with this. I think it looks <v Speaker 1>fantastic and maybe gives them the freedom to do some <v Speaker 1>stuff that is very different that they were like, Hey, <v Speaker 1>let's try to get outside the box of the Mario, <v Speaker 1>and they get so outside the box. Look, actually, let's <v Speaker 1>just use Donkey Kong instead. And this lines up with <v Speaker 1>the Donkey Kung movie and the Donkey Kong Ride. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>it's opening up universal there's a Donkey Kung Ride, So <v Speaker 1>this is all kind of working in that direction. All right. <v Speaker 1>There are plenty of other things to talk about, and <v Speaker 1>we are running out of time, so let's do our <v Speaker 1>best to get through some other elements about the switch <v Speaker 1>to an info that has dropped since the direct has ended. <v Speaker 1>It ended with Donkey Kong bananza. That was their one <v Speaker 1>last thing. They gave us the release date. They didn't <v Speaker 1>give us the price on stream. We talked about that <v Speaker 1>already though, So let's get to some of these tidbits. <v Speaker 1>People are a little concerned about this thing called game <v Speaker 1>key cards that really kind of just add some clarity <v Speaker 1>to how some things are gonna work where when a <v Speaker 1>game is either too big for the game card or <v Speaker 1>they don't want to use a larger game card to <v Speaker 1>save money for whatever reason. So instead of getting a <v Speaker 1>box with like a download code in it, you're you're <v Speaker 1>gonna get a game card for so you'll have a <v Speaker 1>physical game, but before the game may function, you will <v Speaker 1>have to download more data. That has already been the <v Speaker 1>case for some games like Mortal Kombat one I think, <v Speaker 1>on the Switch one and Ellie Noir. Yeah, and then <v Speaker 1>there's that big label on the on the box to <v Speaker 1>let you know that's how it's gonna work. This feels <v Speaker 1>like a sort of building on that and just kind <v Speaker 1>of of making that an official thing and just calling <v Speaker 1>them game key cards as opposed to here's a game <v Speaker 1>card and also it won't work. So it feels like <v Speaker 1>that them just kind of maybe legally positioning themselves to <v Speaker 1>have a very specific form and maybe to encourage developers <v Speaker 1>who are like, hey, we have huge games that aren't <v Speaker 1>gonna make sense on even your largest game card. Can <v Speaker 1>we just make this official? And that seems like what <v Speaker 1>they're doing here. There's going to be a meebo for Luke, <v Speaker 1>Jamie and Kimberly from street Fighter six, So Amiba are <v Speaker 1>not going away. I would not have predicted predicted it <v Speaker 1>would have been street Fighter characters. And then they're gonna <v Speaker 1>have Ambo cards for the rest of right here, and <v Speaker 1>then a bunch of Amiabo cards which are bullshit in <v Speaker 1>my opinion. And then Sean here he agrees with the <v Speaker 1>person above, Yeah, that's right. Let's see Mario Odyssey, Pokemon, Scarlett, <v Speaker 1>and Violet are getting free switch to updates, so there <v Speaker 1>will be alternatives to the big upgrades that are going <v Speaker 1>to cost money or maybe be included a Nintendo Switch Online. <v Speaker 1>People in chat were saying only the Zelda games might <v Speaker 1>be included in the expansion pack, and you're gonna have <v Speaker 1>to pay for stuff like the Mario Party Jamboree update. <v Speaker 1>But we'll see how that all shakes out. A separate <v Speaker 1>from that, Lucy that games like Super Mario Odissey are <v Speaker 1>now just gonna run a little bit better. This is <v Speaker 1>from Jordan Midler at VGC. Nintendo release the list of <v Speaker 1>games that will receive free updates for switch To but <v Speaker 1>won't receive full switch To addition upgrades. During Wednesday's Nintendo Directed, <v Speaker 1>Nintendo announced that several games would receive Nintendo Switch To additions. <v Speaker 1>Switch To Edition games are separate from standard Switch to <v Speaker 1>backwards compatibility and need to be either purchased separately or <v Speaker 1>upgraded to for owners of Switch one versions. However, following <v Speaker 1>the event, Nintendo has announced that many Switch one games, <v Speaker 1>including some of the consol's most popular titles, will receive <v Speaker 1>free updates, which Nintendo says will improve the playability of <v Speaker 1>select games. By connecting your switch Nintendo switch To to <v Speaker 1>the Internet, you can download free updates that may improve <v Speaker 1>performance or at support for features such as game Share <v Speaker 1>and select games. The content of these free updates will <v Speaker 1>differ depending on the game. The list includes Arms, Captain Toad, <v Speaker 1>Treasure Tracker, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario three D World Plus, <v Speaker 1>Bowser's Fury, Clubhouse Games fifty one Worldwide Classics, The Legend <v Speaker 1>of Zelda, Links Awakening, The Legend of Zelda, Echoes of Wisdom, <v Speaker 1>Game Builder Garage. Oh I bet that's going to get <v Speaker 1>mouse support, New Super Mario Brothers, View, De Luxe, Pokemon Scarlet, <v Speaker 1>Pokemon Violet, and Big Brain Academy Brain versus Brain Not <v Speaker 1>Super Mario Maker two with mouse support. Come on, what <v Speaker 1>do you do? Please? Please? Nintendo I need that very bad. <v Speaker 1>That's a shame they might not be doing that. Maybe <v Speaker 1>they're doing a new one. I doubt it though, So yeah, <v Speaker 1>this is kind of part of a larger understanding of <v Speaker 1>how backward compatibility is working with the switch to Interestingly, <v Speaker 1>they did provide some details about how they are actually <v Speaker 1>pulling this off, and they said it's a combination of <v Speaker 1>software emulation and hardware emulation. The implication there being like <v Speaker 1>maybe there is a specialized chip on the system, on <v Speaker 1>a chip in there that is close to a switch <v Speaker 1>one and is handling maybe a lot of the work, <v Speaker 1>and then some of the improvements to relate it over <v Speaker 1>to the power of the switch too is being done <v Speaker 1>by software, and that's connecting the two things. Nintendo has <v Speaker 1>frequently just included the same hardware from last generation in <v Speaker 1>the new generation on its handhelds, where you know, the <v Speaker 1>DS just had a game Boy Advance inside of it. <v Speaker 1>So that's something they've done a bunch before. It sounds <v Speaker 1>like that this hybrid solution is offering them a little <v Speaker 1>bit more flexibility, But they said they tried to do <v Speaker 1>it with just software and that was going to cause <v Speaker 1>battery life to be really bad on the switch to <v Speaker 1>because it just needed to use all of its power juice. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>all the juice just to emulate Switch one games and <v Speaker 1>they didn't want to just go that route. Switch to <v Speaker 1>GameCube controller will be will only be offered to those <v Speaker 1>who pre order the console, at least in some territories. <v Speaker 1>This is from Jordan Miller, a FGC as well. Nintendo <v Speaker 1>has announced that the switch to GameCube controller will only <v Speaker 1>be offered to those who pre ordered the console via <v Speaker 1>the min Nintendo Store. You can register with the mid <v Speaker 1>Nintendo Store now say hey, I'm interested to pre order <v Speaker 1>this thing when it's available, and eventually they're going to <v Speaker 1>contact you and say go for it, here's your best <v Speaker 1>or here's a chance to try to do that, and <v Speaker 1>then in that moment, it sounds like they will offer <v Speaker 1>people the chance to buy the GameCube controller. They've sold <v Speaker 1>these controllers through the mind Nintendo Store in the past <v Speaker 1>when it was for the NES or the Super Nintendo <v Speaker 1>or the N sixty four, and they sell up fast. <v Speaker 1>So I bet the game couch is gotta be. <v Speaker 2>The worst left. Really, Yeah, to whip those up. <v Speaker 1>The pricing was announced for other switch to accessories. The <v Speaker 1>camera is going to be fifty dollars. The switch to <v Speaker 1>pro controller, which is new and has like the C button, <v Speaker 1>for example, is eighty dollars. Let's see here, that GameCube <v Speaker 1>controller is going to be sixty five dollars. And then <v Speaker 1>they're gonna have a Nintendo branded micro SD express cards <v Speaker 1>with the capacity of two hundred and fifty six gigabytes <v Speaker 1>for fifty five dollars. You'll be able to buy express <v Speaker 1>cards on Amazon, you know, for that price and lower. Yeah, <v Speaker 1>much cheaper. <v Speaker 2>But this one has the Mario style m on it. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, how do you feel about that? When the SD <v Speaker 1>cards are branded? I always find that pretty silly. <v Speaker 2>I those some witch had Pokemon on it, and I <v Speaker 2>thought they were really cute. But at the same time, <v Speaker 2>it will be in my machine war. We'll never see it, <v Speaker 2>right exactly. <v Speaker 1>That's the thing is, like you never see these things, <v Speaker 1>so it's like hard to care too much, all right. <v Speaker 1>A couple more things. The switch to home screen. We <v Speaker 1>gotta look at that. It looks a lot like a <v Speaker 1>switch one home screen with some more rounded elements, and <v Speaker 1>that's about it. We don't know if personalization is going <v Speaker 1>to be in this or not, Like maybe you can <v Speaker 1>have themes now or add your own screenshots to the background. <v Speaker 1>As it looks right now, it looks a lot like <v Speaker 1>a switch one. Does that bum you out? <v Speaker 2>Not really, I don't think I was expecting anything like <v Speaker 2>two huge in terms of change. I mean, the whole <v Speaker 2>time people have been talking about switch To, it's very <v Speaker 2>much been in the same vein as this is not <v Speaker 2>the big generational upgrade. This is more like a switch Pro. <v Speaker 2>And I think that's very much in line with what <v Speaker 2>we're seeing here. And with regards to the home screen two. <v Speaker 1>Yep, and I'm like, yeah, that's what I mean. Yep, totally. <v Speaker 1>A lot of these games look good enough to me <v Speaker 1>by you know, really, a lot of them looks good <v Speaker 1>enough to be on the switch one. The fact that <v Speaker 1>we're now going to get a lot of those games <v Speaker 1>and sixty frames per second, I'm fine with that. And <v Speaker 1>then when it comes to the interface, I just need <v Speaker 1>something to be hey, we can get you into the <v Speaker 1>games quickly. I hope that what the real reason behind <v Speaker 1>all this is so that it's super snappy to use, <v Speaker 1>and the real thing is that e Shop better be <v Speaker 1>running flawlessly on the switch To. I am so sorry <v Speaker 1>to bring back the song. <v Speaker 2>God damn it. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, bring back the song for sure, as do. That's <v Speaker 1>number two. That's step two after Just get it to <v Speaker 1>a point where when I try to load something, it <v Speaker 1>happens relatively instantly, as opposed to what it is now, <v Speaker 1>which is a kind of just gruesome weight that drives <v Speaker 1>me crazy every time I try to use the switch <v Speaker 1>to E shop ruesome. Yeah, Nintendo will sell a cheaper <v Speaker 1>three hundred and thirty dollars switch to in Japan. That's <v Speaker 1>region locked. I know we'll run out of time, but <v Speaker 1>my show's next, right, Sean, So we're not cutting in <v Speaker 1>anything else like that, even go as long as you want. <v Speaker 3>Man, you're cutting into your own time. <v Speaker 1>Fantastic. And then Lucy, if you got to get out <v Speaker 1>of here, let me know, we can just have Sean <v Speaker 1>hop in instead. If you got anything going on. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, I gotta go. I gotta thing, and I can <v Speaker 2>I can stay for a moment. Okay, great, So I <v Speaker 2>want to talk about the box off, which is why. <v Speaker 1>Yes, oh okay, we'll get to that next uh switch <v Speaker 1>to in Japan three hundred and thirty dollars that is <v Speaker 1>significantly discounted, and it's lot I have a couple of <v Speaker 1>guesses why this is happening obviously, the big one being <v Speaker 1>they need tariffs, right, they can ship it to Japan, <v Speaker 1>no problem there. The Japan's not gonna put tear off <v Speaker 1>some one of their own companies to ship something into <v Speaker 1>that country so they can charge a lot less and <v Speaker 1>then the region Locke prevents people from being like, well, <v Speaker 1>I'll go buy a Japanese version and have it shipped <v Speaker 1>to me in the United States, and even with the <v Speaker 1>added cost on top of that, it's still going to <v Speaker 1>be less money than if I bought it in the <v Speaker 1>United States. No, you're not gonna be able to do that, <v Speaker 1>not really. I also think this might have something to <v Speaker 1>do with with China. I think there was a this <v Speaker 1>is kind of on the ground reporting or some maybe <v Speaker 1>theorizing that a lot of hardware in Japan gets purchased <v Speaker 1>and then immediately shipped to China. That's definitely true for <v Speaker 1>PlayStation fives for sure. I don't know how true that <v Speaker 1>is for switch, But I wonder if Nintendo was like <v Speaker 1>having that in mind here and that's why this was <v Speaker 1>ready to go, even because I don't know how quickly <v Speaker 1>they could have gone from hey, we're making a switch <v Speaker 1>to to oh my God Trump is elected and he's <v Speaker 1>talking about all these crazy tariffs. We got to come <v Speaker 1>up with a region locked switch to that seems a <v Speaker 1>bit like a bit of a quick turnaround. Either way, <v Speaker 1>it is helping them in a situation where they want <v Speaker 1>to have something affordable for their domestic market and then <v Speaker 1>something that they can then export at a much higher price. <v Speaker 1>But I mean it does make me think that I <v Speaker 1>don't I don't think Nintendo wanted to charge four hundred <v Speaker 1>and fifty slash five hundred dollars for the switch to <v Speaker 1>in the United States. I think they're doing that because <v Speaker 1>of all of the economic situations that are happening with <v Speaker 1>tariffs and with the global economic situation. So yeah, that's <v Speaker 1>a real bummer that we could probably could have got <v Speaker 1>the system at a much more affordable price, and now <v Speaker 1>we just won't have that opportunity. Yeah, all right, the <v Speaker 1>I think the box art looks terrible. I'll bring it <v Speaker 1>up for everybody. <v Speaker 2>It looks uneven, like, it's not pleasing to the eye. <v Speaker 1>Where is it? Whered? I put it? All right, I'll <v Speaker 1>find it. <v Speaker 2>It's in this It's in the Wednesday Doc. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, I got it there. But I wanted to bring <v Speaker 1>it up for everybody else. Let me see if I <v Speaker 1>can find it real quick. It's like, I know, especially <v Speaker 1>that like when it ever has the fine print on it, <v Speaker 1>that looks especially ugly, but that's true of all game <v Speaker 1>cases when they have like a big block of fine print. <v Speaker 2>But I think even without it, the amed edition, never <v Speaker 2>forget yes. <v Speaker 1>Yes, even without that, I think that the switch to <v Speaker 1>band at the top is big and bold in a <v Speaker 1>way that I just don't like. Let's see, I think <v Speaker 1>I do undertand. <v Speaker 2>Why they just talk about with a little thing in <v Speaker 2>the corner. I guess maybe to really differentiate it, to <v Speaker 2>be like so clear that it's switched to yes. <v Speaker 1>Yeah, here you go, everybody take a look. Yeah, listen. <v Speaker 1>I think that this Donkey Kong Bonanza art is fantastic, <v Speaker 1>and then this it's a big ugly strip at the <v Speaker 1>top just isn't right. And you're right, there's something unbalanced <v Speaker 1>about it, like the feng shue is off because there's <v Speaker 1>this huge negative red space next to the switch to logo, Like, <v Speaker 1>just do something with all this, or make this a <v Speaker 1>small badge at the top left. I don't know. I'm <v Speaker 1>no designer. I just know I don't like looking at <v Speaker 1>this No, yeah, and then like yeah, the case itself <v Speaker 1>underneath is red as well, so you have like this <v Speaker 1>border that sort of joins up with the band. I <v Speaker 1>don't know, it's rough stuff. Okay, we got a handful <v Speaker 1>more things to talk about. We'll keep going here. When <v Speaker 1>they were picking the switch to name, they said there <v Speaker 1>were a lot of ideas for the name, and we <v Speaker 1>really struggled to find the right one. We even considered <v Speaker 1>ideas like Super Nintendo Switch. However, Super NES, which came <v Speaker 1>out after the Nes, couldn't play Anys games. Since the <v Speaker 1>Switch two can play Switch games, it didn't feel right <v Speaker 1>to use the same name and convention as the Super NES. <v Speaker 1>Switch To is a new system with improved performance, but <v Speaker 1>we'd like players to get their hands on it and <v Speaker 1>not focus on the specs, but rather to think of <v Speaker 1>it as the latest system developed by Nintendo. I think <v Speaker 1>switch To gets that across, and I think we all <v Speaker 1>kind of felt that way. <v Speaker 2>Right, I think that works? Yeah, I mean Siper switch <v Speaker 2>would have been fun. Yes, yeah, they wanted to get <v Speaker 2>a Nintendo in there, so I get it. <v Speaker 1>Yep. Let's see here, Dizzy Hippos and Chets's Warrior sixty <v Speaker 1>four posted Australian something from Australia that says street Fighter <v Speaker 1>six is fifty gigabytes on Switch to that two hundred <v Speaker 1>and fifty six gigabytes is going to fill up fast. <v Speaker 1>Oh yeah, you're gonna need an SD card. The good <v Speaker 1>news though, is. <v Speaker 2>The worry can buy one with a little Mario am on. <v Speaker 1>It exactly, and it'll be quite expensive. You'll be able <v Speaker 1>to put a terrorbyte in this thing, a terabyte SD <v Speaker 1>card and it'll be fast. That the extreme version of <v Speaker 1>that's going to be pretty expensive, So it might be <v Speaker 1>a while before you want to buy one of those. <v Speaker 1>But as you are filling up that two hundred and <v Speaker 1>fifty six two hundred and fifty six gigabytes, maybe wait <v Speaker 1>till Black Friday this year and get like a five <v Speaker 1>hundred gigabyte SD extreme. I'm sorry, express, I keep saying extreme, <v Speaker 1>all right. Zelda, Breath of the Wild Teers the Kingdom <v Speaker 1>will have achievements on Nintendo Switch too. This is from <v Speaker 1>Jordan Miller at VGC. This is my first time seeing this. <v Speaker 1>I had the boys add some stuff in here as <v Speaker 1>we were working on this, so let me read this. <v Speaker 1>The legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and the <v Speaker 1>Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild will both get <v Speaker 1>switched to editions, as well as a new app, Zelda Notes. <v Speaker 1>That's right, it was a new app, which will be <v Speaker 1>part of the Nintendo app. Also on the way is <v Speaker 1>an update to the Nintendo Switch app called Yeah this <v Speaker 1>is just them, repeating that this game specific service is <v Speaker 1>exclusive to the switch to editions of the games and <v Speaker 1>helps players navigate to various locations like the difficult to <v Speaker 1>find shrine or hitting Coorac, and will even feature commentary <v Speaker 1>from Princess Zelda herself that was not part of the <v Speaker 1>original games, not the developers, from a fictional character the <v Speaker 1>Zelda Notes. Yeah go ahead, Yeah, I hear it. <v Speaker 2>When I was in this, when I was falling from <v Speaker 2>the sky, I was really thinking about. <v Speaker 1>Think about the performance. So I'm just working on the <v Speaker 1>seat plus them at all, all right. The Zelda Notes <v Speaker 1>app will also feature a long requested feature for Nintendo consoles, achievements. <v Speaker 1>The achievement like weapons collected, the number of shrines completed <v Speaker 1>in other in game metrics. Another achievement system, metals, will <v Speaker 1>be awarded for reaching certain in game milestones, but it's <v Speaker 1>just for the Zelda app. Are they going to have <v Speaker 1>this for every game? It doesn't sound like it is <v Speaker 1>there going to be a Mario Kart app where you <v Speaker 1>can get achievements. It's a weird way to do this. <v Speaker 2>That is a weird way to do achievements. It's kind <v Speaker 2>of more like I'm trying to think of the games <v Speaker 2>that would do it, but yeah, they would just kind <v Speaker 2>of let you know how many things you've got to go, <v Speaker 2>rather than trying to play the guessing game. <v Speaker 1>Yeah. I mean it's going to be useful for these <v Speaker 1>games for sure, and I bet people will be excited <v Speaker 1>that there's any form of achievement. But this does not <v Speaker 1>sound like system level achievements that people ever really been <v Speaker 1>asking for. <v Speaker 3>All right, this is a fairly common thing on Switch nowadays. <v Speaker 3>Our games have just platform agnostic built and achievements. I <v Speaker 3>guess Nintendo's just doing it themselves. I wouldn't be surprised <v Speaker 3>if the Nintendo reasoning is because other vee system level achievements. <v Speaker 3>Every game needs to do it, and they'll oft for <v Speaker 3>sound developers. <v Speaker 1>Yep. Probably fine. I'm personally I'm fine with that, you <v Speaker 1>know me. I do not care about achievements, all right, <v Speaker 1>And that they're renaming Nintendo Switch online games. They're now <v Speaker 1>called Nintendo Classics. Okay, I liked that. <v Speaker 2>Yeah, that makes no sense. <v Speaker 1>Definitely works for me. All Right, There's plenty more to <v Speaker 1>talk about, but I think what we're gonna do now <v Speaker 1>is let's wrap up this show. We'll go into grubs <v Speaker 1>gimmicks and we'll keep talking about the Nintendo Switch to everybody. <v Speaker 1>We'll make it a switch to sort of chat where <v Speaker 1>we're trying to figure out everything, seeing how people are feeling. <v Speaker 1>Maybe watch some of these trailers again in the meantime. <v Speaker 2>Then you and I are playing Enzoy, buddy, Yes. <v Speaker 1>Then we're playing Enzoy. That's right. Look out for that, everybody. <v Speaker 1>If you're watching the Power Block, watch that. You know <v Speaker 1>what we're gonna do is we're gonna skip the pole. <v Speaker 1>We'll get back to the poll tomorrow with tomorrow's show, <v Speaker 1>get back on track with a normal episode of game <v Speaker 1>breaking news. This was a special report just dedicated to <v Speaker 1>the Switch too, So let's wrap things up. Sean, thanks <v Speaker 1>for your help, Lucy James, thank you for hanging out <v Speaker 1>with me today and talking about video games. I really <v Speaker 1>appreciate it, of course, anytime, and you know what, we'll <v Speaker 1>do let's do another poll. That's actually we'll have two <v Speaker 1>polls on tomorrow's episode, grade that direct, How do you <v Speaker 1>feel about the switch to direct ABC or D and lower. <v Speaker 1>We'll get that up there on YouTube dot com slash <v Speaker 1>at giant bomb the community tab. You can vote there. <v Speaker 1>We'll get the results for tomorrow's game breaking news in <v Speaker 1>the meantime. Thank you all so much for listening and watching. <v Speaker 1>You are the best audience in gaming. Until next time, <v Speaker 1>have a good one, take care of yourself, and goodbye.
