[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the Forty-K-Lorecast. [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to Forty-K-Lorecast with me, John Barzati and Brad Jester. [SPEAKER_00]: This guy. [SPEAKER_00]: On today's cast, we're going to dive into the greatest threat to the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: We said that before. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of a theme in Forty K. Writing. [SPEAKER_00]: Everything is a greatest that the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: I say evident in the silent King of both. [SPEAKER_00]: What the hell? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: We were just there. [SPEAKER_00]: Tell have not been. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, I don't hate Tal. [SPEAKER_00]: I just funded this point. [SPEAKER_00]: But before we begin, I'm going to check you guys electricity because we have some plugs. [SPEAKER_00]: Indeed, we do. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: So first off, obviously, like and subscribe to the cast, if you haven't already. [SPEAKER_00]: Number two, we do have a very, very good discord. [SPEAKER_00]: That's something we're at this. [SPEAKER_00]: At time of writing, we're close to four hundred members. [SPEAKER_00]: It's quite active. [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of discussions about lore, gameplay, modeling, memes, et cetera. [SPEAKER_00]: Join, we make no money off it by the way. [SPEAKER_00]: I just think it's a great way for people who like this cast to come in and interact and be able to kind of ask questions. [SPEAKER_00]: We are both very active in there. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you listen to the cast and you say, hey, what were you referencing? [SPEAKER_00]: I'll usually get back to you within a couple hours. [SPEAKER_00]: It's on my phone. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're going to replace interact, come hang out with us there. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, if you want to support us, we do have a Patreon, the links in the show. [SPEAKER_01]: No, no equipment. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, cool. [SPEAKER_00]: It would help us get new equipment like microphones that can pick up when I lean away from the microphone because [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, who has no experience working in radio. [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, you guess who gets yelled at a lot for the thing that I do for a living. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, the other one is Brad. [SPEAKER_00]: So Brad actually does coaching for Forty Kay and we say coaching, we don't mean like, you know, I'm, I'm in the running for a top ten seating and ITC and I want to get a little bit better. [SPEAKER_00]: Brad can actually just teach you the basics of the game too. [SPEAKER_00]: He's been doing this for a while. [SPEAKER_00]: You can reach him at old man Brad Forty Kay at gmail.com. [SPEAKER_00]: or you can just go to the forty-klorcast.com and click on the red there's a link there so you guys aren't there right down what he just said there's a link there you guys can get over from there and I'll come to do things too if you're especially I talked to this with people putting on events and conventions stuff like that I love to do in person [SPEAKER_01]: classes and stuff like that. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you have anything like that, you're looking, I've been doing stuff with the armed forces and all kinds of other things. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm willing to go places and do things. [SPEAKER_01]: I like to talk and I like to have people listen to me. [SPEAKER_00]: It's very true. [SPEAKER_00]: We both have that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's why we made this cast. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so on to today's cast. [SPEAKER_00]: So today is going to be the first of three cast on the tyrannets. [SPEAKER_00]: The tier. [SPEAKER_00]: This is because the tyrannets are one of the first. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's added a game. [SPEAKER_00]: So their lower is long and extremely entered pine into four. [SPEAKER_00]: It's also everywhere. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well now. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm just saying that's like as of like a year and a half ago. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm saying, but it's it's it's it's been it's probably the most retcon because of the fact that they kept adding and adding and adding to squats. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they might not even exist, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I would be like, when we write the show notes, I originally wrote their the most rep kind of army, and then I went, and I went and pulled old codexes, and I was like, oh, no, it's the squats. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm gonna say space doors, space doors, anyway. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll keep that box forever. [SPEAKER_00]: So today's cast, though, we're gonna focus on the background of the tierings, what we know of it kind of, how they function, what bottom of the galaxy, where they appear to be going to the galaxy, and some theories on their angles. [SPEAKER_00]: This is all theories, both grad and my theories, but also remember the game of Forty-K is written from the most of the perspective of the Imperium. [SPEAKER_00]: There are some, it's actually really, I think the fifth edition Codex of Tyrannids, there are some Codex that are written from the perspective of the Tyrannids, but then they... Very, very few of the far between them, but then those went away pretty quickly. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's kind of a cool thing with a tear in it that we are passengers on the journey of like people are learning. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this is what we think they're up to. [SPEAKER_00]: So they're not only this massive threat and almost they're almost infinite size alien goals. [SPEAKER_00]: You have no idea what they want. [SPEAKER_00]: It's definitely not to win a baking championship. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, also. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to have to talk about the fact that there wasn't negotiation at one point in time. [SPEAKER_00]: They got red-count out of existence. [SPEAKER_00]: I would rather not discuss that. [SPEAKER_00]: The results, but we're going to actually very quickly. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know what, let's just jump right into that. [SPEAKER_00]: That's far as the that GW getting retconned. [SPEAKER_00]: Here are some things that we're going to touch on very briefly in this cast because they were stupid. [SPEAKER_00]: One, Zotes. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll talk about them in a minute. [SPEAKER_00]: They're done. [SPEAKER_00]: Two, they actually allied with other factions at one point in the game. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and people made alliances with the tyrannists. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is something that has completely been, that didn't get wrecked on that guy. [SPEAKER_01]: Hit it up. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it would be for when GW usually would GW reconst things. [SPEAKER_00]: They just don't talk about it ever again and hope you forgot they wrote it. [SPEAKER_00]: This one seems to have actually been written out of the game. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they just say, you know, anything, everything outside of, hey, send your code X is back to us so we can cross some stuff out of it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is a big deal, because originally the Ternans were being allied with, but just they were negotiating with. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the results were learning negotiating with many times. [SPEAKER_01]: Which this is why it bothers me. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, screw this. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to Brad Tanch. [SPEAKER_01]: You can do the sort of, because yeah, we're the same above. [SPEAKER_01]: Because this. [SPEAKER_01]: made no sense to me, and it never made sense. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that the GW riders afterwards didn't think it made sense. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how this got through. [SPEAKER_01]: Because what happened is the gene sealers were original, but the results. [SPEAKER_01]: The results have no place in all of the lore for the past thirty-some years. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, the key thing is what they've done with it is that they've kind of messed with some timelines. [SPEAKER_00]: The results technically ceased existing. [SPEAKER_00]: before the first before Tyra. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And so it's a weird that I just made some references if you don't know Tyra and it's this all makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the episode. [SPEAKER_01]: But these guys make no sense to me at all because of the fact that the big draw for Tyra is that they're this. [SPEAKER_01]: Unknown force that's monstrous that's we have we have no idea where it's from is there more is this the because the biggest threat exactly one of the is this the end of the threat all by no, well, that's the biggest thing is also is this a scout force. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know this thing that we're having a hard time dealing with it at all [SPEAKER_01]: Is this disgusting? [SPEAKER_00]: Just eat a chunk of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's also this unknowable are these directed by, because we found out about different hive minds. [SPEAKER_01]: Is there an overpowering one? [SPEAKER_01]: Is there multiples? [SPEAKER_01]: What are we even dealing with? [SPEAKER_01]: And the answer is you don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's one of the things that GW wants. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why the Zoltz may know something. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and beyond this though, it's also, we also have the the definition of first contact that move the bench, but I just want to do, I will defend GW a couple of things with Territis. [SPEAKER_00]: One, I actually think they're one of the best written races in the game. [SPEAKER_00]: When we talk about works, we talk about, I mean, Brennan both love works. [SPEAKER_00]: The thing is weird about works is works on paper are the most terrifying force in the galaxy, but they wrote them to be funny. [SPEAKER_00]: Territis, they didn't, they kept the funny out. [SPEAKER_00]: They let the, they let the funny out. [SPEAKER_00]: They're just, they made this a, [SPEAKER_00]: through invasion force double down when they went to GSC who are even. [SPEAKER_00]: They made the tyrannids are objectively a horrifying threat to the gods. [SPEAKER_00]: Like because they're mostly because they don't carry. [SPEAKER_00]: We get a second. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not malice they're acting with. [SPEAKER_00]: They're just following. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why there's those things. [SPEAKER_01]: Because one of the biggest fear. [SPEAKER_01]: Why they're so scary is that. [SPEAKER_01]: You can't negotiate with them. [SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing to negotiate. [SPEAKER_01]: They just show up and you die. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: There's no, can we get a ceasefire? [SPEAKER_01]: Can we get it? [SPEAKER_01]: No, there's nothing. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's why it's so terrifying because it's just this force that is coming at you and you can't do anything about it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's only aggression period. [SPEAKER_00]: So the disclaimer will make for this is you're going to hear stuff where it seems this stuff has been ret kind, depending on what you're reading. [SPEAKER_00]: We're trying to cover everything here to give you guys a better example. [SPEAKER_00]: We're not just trying to do it all the way as of what is we're recording this in June of twenty twenty four. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't want to kind of give you that the Lord that is today. [SPEAKER_00]: We want to give you a bit of the journey because Brad and I are both there for the journey. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I, dear friends are a weird one because this is an army I was playing before Broadway the game. [SPEAKER_00]: I was playing because I was playing in the early nineties and I stopped. [SPEAKER_00]: at the almost twenty years, but kept reading the most of the theorems I've known forever, but just for people to have when theorems came to the game, there were only eight playable races, space marines and chaos space marines, which at this part of the game were the same army just paying them differently. [SPEAKER_00]: had guard, which were really minimal. [SPEAKER_00]: You did have squats at this point. [SPEAKER_00]: Spacewarves. [SPEAKER_00]: They went away. [SPEAKER_00]: Eldar, Nojukari, just straight up Eldar. [SPEAKER_00]: Orcs, you had demons came in right about this time as Terran is. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess Gene Steelers and Gene Steelers, they, they, they, they, they, they basically called existed. [SPEAKER_01]: And demons were kind of their own weird thing. [SPEAKER_00]: They were very different. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because they were also basically an offshoot of chaos. [SPEAKER_01]: Remember, you would summon them. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because that's what you want to see. [SPEAKER_00]: But you, and you, I think I was, I lose polling code X's. [SPEAKER_00]: So I do it. [SPEAKER_00]: I luckily have every code X ever made. [SPEAKER_00]: Do I, did I purchase all of them? [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, PDF would definitely be the format many of these things are in. [SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, when you go back, but I do, it's how do you research for this cast? [SPEAKER_00]: I go back through and read the old months, but that kind of gives idea. [SPEAKER_00]: The periods were actually one with the first fully fleshed out Zeno species after Eldar and work. [SPEAKER_00]: It's because somewhere now. [SPEAKER_01]: And one of the lures of them is really they played differently, but they also had a different lore. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, they were this alien intelligence. [SPEAKER_01]: And they used that term quite a bit. [SPEAKER_00]: I will admit, though, some of the early models look so bad. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes. [SPEAKER_01]: And all the original models are terrible. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it was just more of the size, the size scale. [SPEAKER_00]: So tiny. [SPEAKER_00]: This is funny to be like, this is a term of God. [SPEAKER_00]: Cool. [SPEAKER_00]: What's that? [SPEAKER_00]: That's a carnifax. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like the percent beggar. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: It's terrifying. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it'll throw the filling out you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, look at him. [SPEAKER_00]: He's pretty adorable. [SPEAKER_01]: But the alien told you the thing, and I'm going to use that term quite a bit because GW used that a lot. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, in the in the beginning, because one of the things that makes Ternin so threatening is not just the notification or thing, you just don't know what you're even dealing with in the Imperium had such a hard time because [SPEAKER_01]: The tiernids, one of the biggest things they are is adaptive. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, let's get it. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's say, but let's get it that in a bit, because I want to start with just how to wear there. [SPEAKER_00]: So tiernids are the only piece of the entire forty K that are not native to the Milky Way. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they might be if it's old ones. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, that's why they're coming from outside the Milky Way. [SPEAKER_00]: Because even the way they write the warp, the warp appears to be someone needing to the or least. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that we said this in the one of the last cast, I really think that the warp still has a geography. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it would just make sense. [SPEAKER_00]: And either it makes, I'm not saying it makes sense from like a physics standpoint, just from if you're doing games. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not upside down. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, it's also if you're doing game design, you're going to have to do it this way. [SPEAKER_00]: You can't be like, oh, so the walls falling from here. [SPEAKER_01]: If you watch, I really think that if you watch Stranger Things, it's it's similar to that is it's the flip side of the the material universe. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, one thing I'm going to get into here, because I'm going to, I'm going to, I'm going to bitch about it now. [SPEAKER_00]: The, turning in invasions going from the eastern fringe of the girl. [SPEAKER_00]: Three dimensions don't exist. [SPEAKER_00]: There's also no north and south. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the, there's no polarity in a universe, just because they're, they're coming in from the right side. [SPEAKER_00]: It would be just as accurate as, as saying the eastern fringe. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're not even bothering with the three D. You're just upset about the northeast. [SPEAKER_00]: That was not my phone one by one. [SPEAKER_00]: My head looked at the cap. [SPEAKER_00]: We this wrong. [SPEAKER_00]: I looked it up. [SPEAKER_00]: And now they are, I will defend a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: The galaxy is somewhat flat plane. [SPEAKER_00]: At least we thought so until about twenty years ago, we discovered now it's actually incredibly diverse. [SPEAKER_00]: And the distance between the highest, but in a three D, if you haven't got three D around the highest and the lowest, it's like a ten thousand light years. [SPEAKER_00]: So whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a big deal. [SPEAKER_00]: It's massive. [SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, if you were looking at a three-D model, the terrains are coming from the bottom right, basically. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Although not anymore. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what we get there. [SPEAKER_00]: They say true, not now. [SPEAKER_00]: But the, the originally came in on the eastern side, although we're not actually entirely sure about where the first contact came from, because as with Imperial history, it's matter what's been recorded. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, the ternids destroy, let me back this up real quick. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to cover this a little bit more later, but one of the biggest things I thought was terrifying and one of the biggest things about the ternids is the ternids have an overwhelming psychic presence. [SPEAKER_01]: They cut off originally. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a little bit different in law now, but originally when ternids showed up, they effectively jammed your cons. [SPEAKER_00]: One of them they still do. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, in modern law, it still does like it just goes black. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: But you can't contact anyone to tell you that innovation's happening. [SPEAKER_01]: So how many planets, how many systems did the chair and destroy before we knew that they were there? [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows? [SPEAKER_00]: Making it worse is that again, we'll cover this later. [SPEAKER_00]: When the chair and his move through a system, they leave behind a bar in the rock. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't conquer. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you've never been to that part of the galaxy, you would get to the galaxy and say, oh, wow, everything here's dead. [SPEAKER_01]: It's another barren rockable planet, which is the majority of the planet's appearance. [SPEAKER_00]: But let's go with what the tier and its are. [SPEAKER_00]: The phrase I wrote is, they're an evolving biomass of violence and consumption with a centralized intelligence. [SPEAKER_00]: Could be singular. [SPEAKER_00]: Could be centralized. [SPEAKER_00]: This is what we don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what? [SPEAKER_01]: I can't be bound in this, John. [SPEAKER_00]: Go for it. [SPEAKER_01]: Adaptive. [SPEAKER_01]: evolving is the biggest thing and why they're so fearsome. [SPEAKER_01]: If you showed up at tanks, they show up with genetically engineered grown creatures that now kill tanks. [SPEAKER_01]: You brought a bunch of infantry? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the next battle they're going to have, guys. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's that fast. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, we forgot to do our normal caveat of if you play tyrannies and you like tyrannies. [SPEAKER_00]: And listen to this cast. [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, horrifyingly disappointed about how they played the table. [SPEAKER_00]: Because they're nowhere here, it's cool. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's when big thing we're going to go to later on is the different high fleets. [SPEAKER_01]: And no one gets sold. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't see that. [SPEAKER_01]: I got to reel that way back because there's so many armies that don't have what they have in the Lord. [SPEAKER_01]: Teardons are a one amongst our weaponry is it in turn. [SPEAKER_01]: It says man, this army does not get. [SPEAKER_01]: It's due justice from the Lord to the table top as far as [SPEAKER_01]: the differences in the fleets, how easily they adapt. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's such a big thing. [SPEAKER_00]: I would just say numbers. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think anyone wants to actually own a thousand guns to put them on the table, but that's what it is. [SPEAKER_01]: But the shots are different every, every fight. [SPEAKER_00]: I know, but I point, basically, follow you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But anyway. [SPEAKER_00]: So we don't know kind of how it tier in its formed, but we just know what they are. [SPEAKER_01]: Or where? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, or where. [SPEAKER_00]: The key thing, one of the most important points about them, though, is a synaptic control, which is, I don't know, hive mind. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we've all played Starcraft. [SPEAKER_00]: We noted this. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is a big deal in this though, because of the fact that they found it, they fairly, the appearing found it fairly quickly, that these were controlled, puppeteered, because once they killed certain organisms, they killed certain things on, on the field of battle, that animals were just around. [SPEAKER_01]: and do nonsense, basically. [SPEAKER_01]: They would attack whatever, they would hide from whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: Once you pull out, I mean, what we call a synaptic lynch pin out of the army, they would lose purpose. [SPEAKER_00]: They would move more animalistic. [SPEAKER_00]: But we don't know how this functions. [SPEAKER_00]: We just know that it does function. [SPEAKER_00]: And we have commander units that are basically transmitters. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what we understand from experience of getting lucky and blowing the right thing up. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: We still don't know if this is one consciousness, five consciousness, but we do know that. [SPEAKER_01]: a larger consciousness is controlling the tyrannics period. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: Now some units, though, do have the ability to work independent of the hive mind. [SPEAKER_00]: Like Derser, an example of this gene so as they actually seem to be able to operate without contact. [SPEAKER_01]: And they abuse them with their own. [SPEAKER_01]: These are specifically engineering genes, the layers of the most gene. [SPEAKER_01]: Gene's the illusion like this are electors are the most famous. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: The other thing to do about them is the way they operate, so it is a locused swarm. [SPEAKER_00]: The tierenids are not a conquering species, whether taking worlds and then converting them over to being their worlds. [SPEAKER_00]: They come in, they consume every last piece of biomass on that planet, and move on to the next one. [SPEAKER_01]: Independence Day. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this was the plot of Independence Day for those of you who aren't who aren't American and didn't remember watch it or maybe you did watch it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a decent-ish film with a lot of terrible parts in it. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I would say starring Will Smith. [SPEAKER_00]: Pre-slapping stuff that came out in the nineties. [SPEAKER_00]: That was pretty not bad. [SPEAKER_00]: Screw you, Independence Day was awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Watch it again. [SPEAKER_00]: No, because it will not be a sausage. [SPEAKER_00]: Watch it. [SPEAKER_01]: Watch it again. [SPEAKER_01]: Don't, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I'd say don't ruin my child here, but I was wildly adult by the time. [SPEAKER_01]: It'd be nice to take you out. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not, I mean, that's what I said. [SPEAKER_00]: People don't ruin my child. [SPEAKER_00]: We watch Goonies. [SPEAKER_00]: It's still good. [SPEAKER_00]: We're watching the pendant today. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh, this is going to suck. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, they made a second video. [SPEAKER_01]: It was wow. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it did much that one. [SPEAKER_00]: Like you should. [SPEAKER_00]: Last one though about them is we do now. [SPEAKER_00]: Understand, it seemed to have a very key goal once they're in the solar system. [SPEAKER_00]: And that is holy terror. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm I'm literally gathering cheetah together right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Physically holding my hands even my usa because this is one of my favorite and least favorite in the exact same time. [SPEAKER_01]: things about tenants is the astronomical is effectively a bug zapper that they are drawn to and they are originally drawn to to pull them into the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: Is this cool or is it lame? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I really roll a six-sided on a four-up. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's awesome on a one, two, three. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's stupid because I like the idea of it drew him to the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: I hate that they're still... We're going to... We're going to be on the second. [SPEAKER_00]: That's probably his more like it's what's drawing them when they're in the galaxy to it. [SPEAKER_01]: True, but in the same. [SPEAKER_01]: It's a bug like their bugs. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's just... It is what it is. [SPEAKER_00]: But one thing about that though, even though the G.A.B. [SPEAKER_00]: is written it, they're not rushing towards it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the way forest was or are... [SPEAKER_00]: That's the thing is... [SPEAKER_00]: The tier again. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: They're moving with a direction. [SPEAKER_00]: What is it a purpose? [SPEAKER_01]: My thing is is that what is there and we don't know their end goal. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess that's one of the biggest mysteries. [SPEAKER_01]: Screw it. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's cool again. [SPEAKER_01]: I roll the for up. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Because they're like the mystery at school. [SPEAKER_01]: Because they're not going. [SPEAKER_01]: Like if this was their goal, they would be be lining. [SPEAKER_01]: And they're not. [SPEAKER_01]: They're meandering. [SPEAKER_01]: Like the tiered. [SPEAKER_01]: It's aren't going in a straight line. [SPEAKER_01]: You would say this is what our end goal is. [SPEAKER_01]: They're. [SPEAKER_00]: They're pathways. [SPEAKER_00]: They have to. [SPEAKER_00]: The problem for the tyrannies, and we're going to get this more later, is that effectively they're not self-sufficient in order to invade, they have to conquer, consume, and then move on to the next planet. [SPEAKER_01]: Because that doesn't make you tank. [SPEAKER_00]: Basically, they have also to feed themselves, and they are biology. [SPEAKER_00]: So when you are a biology, you have to add energy to biology. [SPEAKER_00]: The inverse here is the Necrons. [SPEAKER_00]: The Necrons have mastered energy. [SPEAKER_00]: So the necrons in theory could make no new necrons and go anywhere in the galaxy they want to go. [SPEAKER_00]: The tyrannids would actually starve to death. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of the flip side of them. [SPEAKER_00]: So they, while they have a purpose where they're going, they have to conquer, they just don't. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Or they just, they starve to death. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's a kind of a key piece of them. [SPEAKER_00]: So under the origins of the, of the, here is the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to end up talking about a game here in a minute. [SPEAKER_00]: That both Brad and I played, I'm going to talk about it right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's do this in a second. [SPEAKER_00]: Give me a second and we'll get that. [SPEAKER_01]: Fine, he did up, you know what? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna pour. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you pour wine. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll set the stakes. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back after a quick break. [SPEAKER_00]: So the Tierney Foundation starts officially in M-IV-I, but they've been in the galaxy massively lower. [SPEAKER_00]: The things that we call space hooks hold, hold, suspect that's in a brave heart. [SPEAKER_00]: So [SPEAKER_00]: for millennia, you know, species in the Milky Way have been leaving. [SPEAKER_00]: They explore the dark space beyond. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know what's in the dark space beyond. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't bad things are out there. [SPEAKER_01]: Nothing good. [SPEAKER_00]: You're nothing good. [SPEAKER_00]: In sci-fi, absolutely zero good. [SPEAKER_00]: Dark space always bad. [SPEAKER_00]: So you get out there, ships die. [SPEAKER_00]: You can be something simple, just a pressure loss, a system failure, who knows? [SPEAKER_00]: But these giant ships [SPEAKER_00]: eventually die and then they'd end up drifting back into the Milky Way. [SPEAKER_01]: This is also a warp thing. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll continue. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's something. [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be warp, but this this is it can be a ship that was adrift in the warp. [SPEAKER_00]: The demons just ripped the thing to shreds. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm saying this is the warp in my Brad theory is space. [SPEAKER_01]: Folks and things like that exist because of the fact that it's like an undertone pulling these things back because physics wise, whatever direction they were going in, they keep going in. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they could have been, I was thinking Morgan Murders to see you head back, but you're right, that I shouldn't. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, also, but I just feel that there's so many of them, because space folks, look at how I randomly got us over there before it was time. [SPEAKER_01]: We're getting there. [SPEAKER_01]: Space folks are gigantic. [SPEAKER_01]: I cannot even explain how big they are. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yes and no, the promised space of the term space hoax. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we have it is an all accomplishing, but also good as be a freighter that came back. [SPEAKER_00]: What happens is that with space hoax is that when they reappear in the Milky Way either by dropping out of the warp reappearing or just drifting in this little small ship, no one really gives a crap about. [SPEAKER_00]: But the giant ones, everyone does and people to say, oh, they have resources. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm going to go raid this thing, which is objectively such a terrible idea. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it is after you find the first couple because they are always full of badness. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's nothing. [SPEAKER_00]: It's never whatever made this thing a Hulk in space. [SPEAKER_00]: probably left a little bit of a mark. [SPEAKER_00]: Your best case scenario is everything inside of it is dead and just a horror show. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's very much so the best case because the worst case is instead death. [SPEAKER_00]: Actually, no, that's the middle case. [SPEAKER_00]: And the worst case is not is the death. [SPEAKER_01]: I say, the worst case is you get drug into the warp. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And you do instant death. [SPEAKER_00]: It's every day. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's a level of demons, Drew Carrey, or running a Tom James dealers. [SPEAKER_01]: And this, okay, I gotta give a shameless plug. [SPEAKER_01]: Eventually GW will give us some free stuff for doing this. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Space Hulk is wildly super fun to play. [SPEAKER_00]: Space Hulk's one is actually, I think it may have gotten me to the game. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember what I played first by my friend a lot of space Hulk. [SPEAKER_01]: You are, you know, let's just set the stage for it. [SPEAKER_00]: When a space hook appears, everyone, not everyone, species rush to it to go loot it. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, what you're going to do is you, you also are aware that it's probably not vacant. [SPEAKER_00]: You show up in force. [SPEAKER_00]: A common group that does this is space marines, that they will send space in the game, space marine territories and the game. [SPEAKER_00]: You should go for the squad. [SPEAKER_00]: You should go for the squad of Space Marine Terminators, and the Space Hulk was full of Gene's dealers. [SPEAKER_01]: If you play it right, I'm saying, when you play Space Hulk, think alien, the first alien movie, because these Gene's dealers are showing up from the rafters, from the walls. [SPEAKER_01]: They've infiltrated everywhere in the ship. [SPEAKER_01]: They're coming out of the ventilation. [SPEAKER_01]: And if you set the stage right space looks one period, but if you really set the if you're a D&D kind of guy like we are space. [SPEAKER_00]: Hope spent yes, because they're hiding whatever corner. [SPEAKER_00]: They actually kind of remade it with boarding actions. [SPEAKER_00]: I was really happy to see when that when GW brought back boarding actions. [SPEAKER_00]: I can now write my own version of it, which is a bit. [SPEAKER_00]: Which is a game in another stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a really really good game. [SPEAKER_00]: But what these were was space-hulk is how that gene stores first kind of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: As we mentioned a few minutes ago, gene stores are one of the few things like lifters that can operate fully independently of the high fleet. [SPEAKER_00]: So in the earlier portions of the game, the idea was they would just send these space hooks would just drift. [SPEAKER_00]: with gene sellers on them, and to the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And we'll cover in a later episode what they would do when they interacted with it with a new race. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, gene sellers infested them. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's a big thing. [SPEAKER_01]: And gene dealers were, again, they scanned alien, but whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: When you look at the movie alien, they were that intelligence plus. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the geniuses were designed to be an invasive force sitting in other things. [SPEAKER_00]: But the game was awesome because you took your terminators and you had to just survive a ship of nightmares and the nightmares were genius dealers. [SPEAKER_01]: And there was just kind of unlimited genius dealers in the game to be honest with you. [SPEAKER_00]: Because they didn't care when it should be that way. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: Because in the game, they have just, there was just more than you. [SPEAKER_00]: You had to code X and let's swarm. [SPEAKER_01]: Because think about space. [SPEAKER_01]: Like you just tried to eat your main goal was just to not die. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That was your objective. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, GW makes really good RPG games. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Space Hulk and Blackstone fortress are just that. [SPEAKER_00]: Already an action is good too. [SPEAKER_00]: I will encourage you guys if you want to play a very thematic version of this game. [SPEAKER_01]: Kill team in boarding games. [SPEAKER_01]: I wish I found Kill team before I found Forty Kay now I'm invested in Forty Kay for forever. [SPEAKER_01]: But Kill team is superior. [SPEAKER_00]: Full, full transparency. [SPEAKER_00]: The number one reason I don't play kill team is I just own too many models and it would depress me to have this much stuff and just play with that. [SPEAKER_00]: Games also wildly faster. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's great game. [SPEAKER_01]: But if you haven't played Space Hulk, I would actually go people asked for this all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: I want to make sure we go the reading material that goes around along with Space Hulk. [SPEAKER_01]: There's also multiple short stories. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of stuff online. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of stuff that is [SPEAKER_01]: Canon for spacewalk that's out there, great reads, grab a rule book. [SPEAKER_01]: They're actually really cheap. [SPEAKER_01]: The old spacewalk, small book stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: You can get out on us and GW's made up money off it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep, you don't feel free to steal this. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's it's a very fun read though because people ask all the time, hey, what are you talking about? [SPEAKER_01]: Give us some references. [SPEAKER_01]: The spacewalk grades are really good. [SPEAKER_00]: But so kind of with that, [SPEAKER_00]: The reason this is important is we talk about first contact where the students came from, et cetera. [SPEAKER_00]: Remember, the first road traders, the emperor signed off on them. [SPEAKER_00]: We've had road traders for at this point in about eleven thousand, twelve thousand years moving throughout the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: One of the key pieces they had to do was explore the fringes of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of them just stopped radioing. [SPEAKER_01]: And when we say first, we're going to say first contact in a couple times in a minute. [SPEAKER_01]: first contact is forty seven air quotes around it because that is not not not not first contact. [SPEAKER_01]: We've had so much contact with. [SPEAKER_01]: Effectively, Gene Stale's electors before that because they are the four deplores and they've been the four deplores while those these high fleets. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and there was nothing. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I also think was really important here that I made that I do think that we should point out is that. [SPEAKER_00]: are on the edge of the galaxy and unknown. [SPEAKER_00]: In a galaxy from a mankind standpoint full of known threats, mankind has been his fighting chaos very actively. [SPEAKER_00]: Eldar, every so often, dark Eldar are a fun pain in the bud. [SPEAKER_00]: Orcs, orcs that you probably predate, all of it, will orcs predate chaos in the battle. [SPEAKER_00]: Remember, because mankind and Eldar weren't actually fighting during the age of [SPEAKER_00]: And there's semi-fighting now, so it's. [SPEAKER_00]: Right, but, but, but, but Orcs were. [SPEAKER_00]: Orcs were. [SPEAKER_00]: Orcs were always been yet. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, they weren't looking. [SPEAKER_00]: When you're at war everywhere, cosy all the time, you're only looking for new threats. [SPEAKER_00]: So a lot of the tiered stuff that was probably happening on some of these fringes just was a like, uh, like, I don't even want to look into it. [SPEAKER_01]: Think about the, the government, but there's also the number of when we talked about this. [SPEAKER_01]: go back and listen a couple of our episodes in the past. [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of Zenos threats just that barely get mentioned. [SPEAKER_01]: And even, yeah, exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, super powerful Zenos. [SPEAKER_01]: So when a small group boards a spacehole and encounters scary stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: That's a great point. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like who cares? [SPEAKER_00]: Nobody, we read these things a bunch of extra arms ran at us. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, what happened? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, the terminus shot them all. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And you're like, where was it? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's a floating Hulk. [SPEAKER_01]: Where is it now? [SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: We blew it up. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Cool. [SPEAKER_00]: And that becomes the end of the story. [SPEAKER_00]: No one understands it. [SPEAKER_00]: That there's more behind. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a Vanguard of a possibly endless enemy. [SPEAKER_00]: It's potential. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, actually, technically, they are actually infinite because they. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, let's hear what they just make more. [SPEAKER_00]: One more piece I want to dive into, kind of, to help people understand what we're talking about here is that the Milky Way is, we have multiple galaxies in our universe. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't really know all of them. [SPEAKER_00]: We know most of them. [SPEAKER_00]: There is dark space around it. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to do what I call the Neil deGrasse Tyson side step here, just because A, help to the state and B, let's be seated. [SPEAKER_01]: No, John's going to do Neil deGrasse Tyson by being making it less fun. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, no, you need this. [SPEAKER_00]: I do need that one, actually. [SPEAKER_00]: So success. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I'm sorry about to hear is, [SPEAKER_00]: This, this cast not brought to you by me or me or mine, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but if they would like to say, but [SPEAKER_01]: But one of the biggest things about this is why we've had, when I say first contact has forty-seven air quotes on it, is because they set forward to players thousands of years ago, basically. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And because the rest of their force is taking the slow road nowhere to get it. [SPEAKER_00]: But it doesn't matter because they can't do warp travel. [SPEAKER_00]: So the thing is, adherents have to move through the galaxy in a linear fashion. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't get to be the jump and move through the stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but they have weird travel. [SPEAKER_00]: We can see it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, it's like Timothy Neckron. [SPEAKER_00]: They have some weird travel, but it is still limited. [SPEAKER_00]: So just to kind of step the stage here, you're about to get a bitch fest deal with it. [SPEAKER_00]: The Milky Way is one of the largest galaxies in the universe. [SPEAKER_00]: It's about a hundred thousand light years wide, and it contains about a hundred to four hundred billion stars. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know that till I went and looked it up. [SPEAKER_00]: It's central. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's annoying because mankind, according to GW, is covering the majority of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, we control one of the, but if you actually look at it from the map of the galaxy, we're controlling over fifty percent of it, and we have them one million star systems. [SPEAKER_00]: So that is, it gives a lot of zeros, zero, zero, zero, one percent of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's stuff happening on the market. [SPEAKER_00]: Oops. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, the important part here is dark space. [SPEAKER_00]: So dark space is the gap between galaxies up until about nineteen ninety seven. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, you can tell I do some research here, guys. [SPEAKER_00]: We actually thought there was nothing in dark space. [SPEAKER_00]: We thought the image between galaxies coming and then we got better telescopes and we're like, no, they're actually, they're actually, they're actually, they're very few in far between. [SPEAKER_01]: We do have this topography there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we do have stars in between them. [SPEAKER_00]: So the reason that this matter is is that [SPEAKER_00]: You know, once you get outside of the galaxy, you are hundreds of these fifty thousand light years to the next to Andromeda. [SPEAKER_00]: So there is a massive gap here and we don't really know what's out there. [SPEAKER_00]: So this is really important because any intergalactic system that wants to travel from one galaxy to the next would that gap there is insane. [SPEAKER_00]: So this is why we don't know where the tearage are coming from. [SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to cover this a bit more. [SPEAKER_00]: Originally a tearage invaded from one part of our galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And then later it's from another part of our conversation. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: So now it becomes this question of how big is this army? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because and drama to for example is the next closest system to the Milky Way. [SPEAKER_00]: And drama does two million light years away. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you were to just for math, if you're moving at light speed, [SPEAKER_00]: It would take you two million years to get from a drama to the Milky Way. [SPEAKER_00]: And a drama, by the way, is kind of what you would hear east of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: If you look at the GW map and you look at the way the galaxy's written. [SPEAKER_00]: So why am I doing this tangent? [SPEAKER_00]: Because this helps with built the mystery of the theories. [SPEAKER_01]: Because they started dating from all sections of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: So you go where did the originate from? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, is this an encircling move? [SPEAKER_01]: Again, you don't know how big the turn ends are. [SPEAKER_01]: With them coming from different sections of the galaxy, if they're actually making a slow move into us, that means that they are wildly, just, [SPEAKER_01]: Crazy, bigger threat than everything else. [SPEAKER_00]: The size that tyrannies is absolutely incredible. [SPEAKER_00]: And when we look at it from this perspective, especially because they're, I think it's because they're coming dark space. [SPEAKER_00]: We can't see them. [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: You can't let there's no light with a telescope. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't see out there. [SPEAKER_00]: And as we're covered later, they also block out the warp. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just going to throw it out there. [SPEAKER_01]: This is going to be real bad for the Imperium. [SPEAKER_01]: If all of the high fleets are basically random scouts. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's over. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's the case. [SPEAKER_01]: When the real force shows up, you're going to be real bomb. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So what this does matter, though, is [SPEAKER_00]: The tyrannids, the theory, is that their entire species is coming into the Milky Way right now. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're going to use the Milky Way to consume them, and then they have to move on to the next. [SPEAKER_00]: What we don't know is, have they done this before? [SPEAKER_00]: You know, did they eat another galaxy already? [SPEAKER_00]: Are they going to eat, you know, what's coming? [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what makes them terrifying. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, crazy, good, terrifying. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And they don't, again, which is why there's not to go anymore. [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know why they came what they came for and you can't negotiate with them. [SPEAKER_00]: You can't talk to them. [SPEAKER_01]: And all. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They don't communicate and all with you. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It is weird. [SPEAKER_00]: They have vocal cords. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to tear any biology. [SPEAKER_00]: Some of them. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Just going to work. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: So let's talk about what brought the team did into the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And this has been rewritten a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: So a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: Just a tad. [SPEAKER_00]: Just a tad. [SPEAKER_00]: So [SPEAKER_00]: We know the Tyrionids can see into the warp sort of. [SPEAKER_00]: And we know this because they seem to follow warp energy. [SPEAKER_01]: They seem to... Well, they also can manipulate warp energy. [SPEAKER_01]: Third, weird masters of the warp. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, not touching the warp. [SPEAKER_00]: Touching the warp. [SPEAKER_00]: Because chaos demons don't, like, they're aware of their existence, but they can't infest them. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll get to that point a bit. [SPEAKER_00]: But, so the Tyrionids seen in my theory on this is just that since everything that touches the warp, [SPEAKER_00]: leaves a mark. [SPEAKER_00]: And the tyrannies just they they're using a variation of warp site to find things to consume and help someone who's in which which would make sense because they have to travel such incredible distances. [SPEAKER_00]: They can't and and again they're living being are they probably in some very variation of stasis yeah we know that they but still they have there's a limited amount of energy that they have they they have to make their moves strategically. [SPEAKER_01]: They also, one of the biggest things about tournaments that I think is wild is they don't, they use the warp, they don't travel through the warp, and they don't have an effect on the warp as far as GW runnings. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep, which is interesting to say the least. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the only people that I've ever used the warp and didn't have an effect on the warp. [SPEAKER_00]: Old ones. [SPEAKER_00]: Are we hinting the latter part of this episode? [SPEAKER_00]: Weird. [SPEAKER_00]: But at last episode, we talked about the astronautica. [SPEAKER_00]: And the joy that that thing is. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: Black ship, otherwise known as fun ship. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just there. [SPEAKER_00]: There's less the the fun ships of like this is super to you guys back to the ultimate carnival ride. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, the astronautica's to giant beacon and allows you to see it from anywhere in the world. [SPEAKER_00]: That being said, I mean, it's just a straight lighthouse. [SPEAKER_00]: So, humanity can see it. [SPEAKER_00]: Eldar can see it. [SPEAKER_00]: Chaos can see it. [SPEAKER_00]: Territons can see it. [SPEAKER_00]: Everything can see the astronomical. [SPEAKER_00]: It does though have a limited reach. [SPEAKER_00]: We do talk about this a little bit in last one. [SPEAKER_00]: It's about seventy thousand light years. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's kind of when you get to the fringes. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a very dim light that's just a little bit out there. [SPEAKER_00]: As yet further to Galaxy, you're very well aware of it. [SPEAKER_00]: But what we didn't talk about last time, because we're saving it for this one, is it's not the first of its kind. [SPEAKER_00]: The necrons built their own similar [SPEAKER_01]: But they weren't more penalties. [SPEAKER_01]: They were more anti. [SPEAKER_01]: All their stuff is anti. [SPEAKER_00]: When it's black, so the problem with blacks is black, so it's both more energy and anti work energy. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's it synergizes. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it promotes, it amplifies both. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: amplifies your ability to negate the work. [SPEAKER_01]: And if you have the work, and it amplifies your ability to use the work. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So the Necrons built me and called Faris, which were kind of all over the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And what they were was these actually to those of you who heard my tie right in the last one. [SPEAKER_00]: would triangulate your position because there's more than one of them. [SPEAKER_00]: No, where they were. [SPEAKER_00]: They built them around the galaxy, because with the Necrons, there was Necrons didn't use warp, but they used phasing technology. [SPEAKER_00]: They could actually, they could effectively teleport across the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: These Einstein bridges, basically. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they would jump across the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And the Pharaohs would be where the way that they would triangulate position we will do this. [SPEAKER_00]: They built them all over the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: When they went to hibernation, they turned these off except for one. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is actually what we're going to not give this story, the justice it deserves, but whatever we're going to do it real quick. [SPEAKER_00]: Horace Heresy to help Horace out chaos made massive workshops. [SPEAKER_00]: Go on there on certain places, of course. [SPEAKER_00]: This meant, and they did to trap the imperial, sorry, the loyalists in certain areas, when a warpstorm really gets up and going, even the astronomical gets obscured. [SPEAKER_00]: So the unabigators can now no longer do anything. [SPEAKER_00]: So for a period of time, all the warp travel was a really short jump. [SPEAKER_00]: The key thing here was that Gilliman and his legion ended up getting just stuck with the triad. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Lion St. [SPEAKER_00]: Winston. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, Bobby G. That's stuck. [SPEAKER_00]: And while they were stuck, they found a world called Sotha, which had one of these beacons on it. [SPEAKER_00]: And Gilliman realized he could actually use this beacon as a staging point. [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, everyone, but this is one of my favorite stories because Conrad Cruz is one of my favorite primaries because of the fact that he's the Joker period. [SPEAKER_01]: He's just a primar Joker. [SPEAKER_01]: And he did nothing that did anything good, but he just harassed them around this place. [SPEAKER_01]: And they didn't even know what [SPEAKER_00]: what it was, but he was there to just screw with the pain in the ass. [SPEAKER_00]: And so, the ultramarines used this beacon to reach out and did they start launching a new Imperium there? [SPEAKER_00]: That's a fun story for another day. [SPEAKER_00]: Because there were some kind of thing when he was his neighbor. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, oops. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, by using it this meeting point, the blood angels of dark angel ultramates, we're all in this one spot. [SPEAKER_00]: the traitor legions noticed this and decided well we should also take that out because holy crap the greatest force of the entire loyalist is now in this one area it's the three most powerful legions and they're all just hanging out getting ready I mean they sent one yeah well yeah they didn't try they just sent the [SPEAKER_00]: Conrad is bought. [SPEAKER_01]: They said, Conrad went just basically make it irritating. [SPEAKER_01]: Effectively what they said was Conrad, go be Conrad. [SPEAKER_00]: which he was all about. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, be fair, go, go, Conrad, go. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, long story short, nightlords infiltrate. [SPEAKER_00]: Soath, blah, blah, blah, battle, more battle, conflict. [SPEAKER_00]: And then in a giant twist of GW writing, a single person sacrificed themselves with nobility to save everybody else. [SPEAKER_01]: The rest of the story is actually really cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Read that story. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but anyway, what happens is that they overload the pharaohs, which blows up and then blows up the nightboard fleet. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the thing is, is that one of the reasons neurons are such a threat, again, mastered energy, all of their beacon, their structures have effectively a potential energy of almost instant. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: But what happens when they blow up the pharaohs here, because this is the breath point, the amount of energy stored in this one device is so insane that you just set off this incredible firework in the middle of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, in the story, too, they vaporized that it wasn't just a big boom. [SPEAKER_01]: It was a, again, almost infinite amounts of energy. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a nuclear explosion on Earth, but make that in the middle of a system. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That level of. [SPEAKER_01]: And also make the nuclear weapon would be a small firecracker, be a sparkler. [SPEAKER_00]: the perspective of like the thing that on earth is the most destructive force ever that level of destructive force but it can do the same thing to an entire system like it's insane. [SPEAKER_00]: This, in theory, triggers kind of a giant flash that can be seen from outside of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: Where's the tenets already traveling? [SPEAKER_00]: Where they not? [SPEAKER_00]: This is what we have no idea. [SPEAKER_00]: The theory, one of the kind of what they theories is in the code axis is the idea that the tyrannies this flash occurs. [SPEAKER_00]: And a species that is, as we just serve in a dark space, traveling through the millions of light years of darkness that is dark space in some sort of stasis naturally triggered by this bright flash of light and space some attention to it and begins moving towards that light. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, this occurred around M-M-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F-F [SPEAKER_01]: Again, Eric is, yeah, did they show they were already here for her? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they should have been forced for you. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure. [SPEAKER_00]: I think they'd obviously been here because we now know that there's old bioships that they've actually found up here and it's from like, like, I'm thirty five. [SPEAKER_00]: We know they've been around in touch in Milky Way, but this seems to be what brings them in. [SPEAKER_00]: I think just my theory is that the high fleet always knew just because of the cluster of stars in the Milky Way that there was something of value there. [SPEAKER_01]: I agree with that thing. [SPEAKER_01]: I think they were already on their way here. [SPEAKER_01]: But I also think that they were already on their way here for different reasons. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and so we're going to get some fun and some something. [SPEAKER_00]: But this will be all fan. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: My idea, this was kind of like I used the, the, the, the, the, I have sworn on where, you know, are, sworn looking all over the place, but the second that he detects the ring. [SPEAKER_00]: his eye just moves. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a boom we're going. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what this was. [SPEAKER_00]: They're moving slowly toward the galaxy because they assume there's something there. [SPEAKER_00]: And then this flash goes off. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't know it's a pharaoh's exploring to them. [SPEAKER_00]: It's an explosion of life that exists there. [SPEAKER_00]: So which is food. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go get there. [SPEAKER_00]: And because it wasn't so very far away. [SPEAKER_00]: Now, let's have some more fun about fan theory time. [SPEAKER_00]: The other fan theory that I read about this and by fan theory, I mean, right? [SPEAKER_00]: It was that it was actually a combination of events because this explosion at Sotha is about one to two thousand years after the birth of Slanesh. [SPEAKER_00]: which also would have been a pretty big. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, so that was a joke compared to the birth of Sloan Ash, which destroyed the Eldar homeworld in all of their home systems. [SPEAKER_00]: And rip, they hold in the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: So the idea of this band, which I actually, which I just like a lot, is that the tear nids are somewhere way out in dark space. [SPEAKER_00]: The birth of slenish happens and they go, ooh, food. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's start moving that way. [SPEAKER_00]: Then the explosion of Sotha gives them a kind of a second trigger so that it's no longer, I think there's something there that now I know there's something there. [SPEAKER_01]: Are they ready, Charles? [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, so let's speed up. [SPEAKER_00]: So we talked a little bit about what a high fleet of what what I mix it up. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so in we haven't talked about space travel in the Forty First millennia, but and we're going to have more in a future guest. [SPEAKER_00]: All beings use some sort of ship though to move around. [SPEAKER_00]: So the Eldar have giant ships. [SPEAKER_00]: They basically live on the Orcs jury rig stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, a box that they think, well, my, I wouldn't know, this works. [SPEAKER_00]: They all hold hands. [SPEAKER_00]: Necrons in the town have the giant shipish things. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying not to show them as much. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it's impossible to move people without this and the TV series. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure we do work. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so proud of you for it. [SPEAKER_00]: But my quintilians. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. [SPEAKER_00]: I looked up the word. [SPEAKER_00]: It is quintillions of people. [SPEAKER_00]: It's like more than that. [SPEAKER_00]: You need a gold star for that. [SPEAKER_00]: There's some serious Google of like, I should look this up after like, three, seven casts. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm saying, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe something. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe something. [SPEAKER_00]: I literally had, I have two cell phones, one from work, one from personal and known three computers. [SPEAKER_00]: I should probably be up using internet at some point. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're about to describe it tearfully for those of you who've played Starcraft. [SPEAKER_00]: It's that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's that. [SPEAKER_00]: So you guys can skip ahead. [SPEAKER_01]: You know what, I'm going to give GW a little more props than this. [SPEAKER_01]: If you've read, not just watch Starship Trippers, it is actually more than that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's also such a different book than moving. [SPEAKER_01]: The book's awesome books. [SPEAKER_01]: Incredible. [SPEAKER_00]: The movie's fine. [SPEAKER_00]: We'll be right back after a quick break. [SPEAKER_00]: So the tyrannids remember don't manufacture anything. [SPEAKER_00]: They grow everything. [SPEAKER_00]: They grow. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't have to know there's no tyrannic factor. [SPEAKER_00]: They are. [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: So everything used is a bio weapon. [SPEAKER_00]: I will say laws of physics imply there is probably some work power at play here. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm not a hundred percent. [SPEAKER_00]: How this would actually work. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they're descended from a being that had strong connections to the warp. [SPEAKER_01]: Can I talk about the fact that Tearned weapons are the grossest and the galaxy though? [SPEAKER_00]: Trying to think that the depth going. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Tearned here. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll give you a one-torned weapon. [SPEAKER_01]: Tyrann's fire, a superheated cockroach that hits you, crawls into you and explodes. [SPEAKER_00]: You know who else does that? [SPEAKER_00]: The yorks. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what a squig launcher does. [SPEAKER_00]: That's true, actually. [SPEAKER_00]: That's not a squig. [SPEAKER_00]: It's more funny. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, because you're a squig is a Tyrann. [SPEAKER_00]: The problems are solved. [SPEAKER_00]: So, but this level of movement, it's the same with the hype. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the entire fleet is made up of literally living ships that are also the factories who we're just talking about. [SPEAKER_01]: Which are also interconnected though. [SPEAKER_01]: We gotta remember that all of this stuff operates as one mind. [SPEAKER_00]: And so as these massive ships transferring move through, they're consuming worlds, they're actually growing and hatching and evolving new species. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, they're getting intelligence on. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: each, each one, we get that later, each conflict is, but they grow. [SPEAKER_00]: But these fleets take part in every element of a tyrannid invasion, whereas like a humanity fleet you'd think of it as, the fleet would come in, it would drop off the soldier. [SPEAKER_00]: So soldiers would then fight. [SPEAKER_00]: Then the next fleet would come in and bring the terraforming. [SPEAKER_00]: Then the fleet would come in with every people. [SPEAKER_00]: The tyrannids, it's only one fleet. [SPEAKER_00]: So the tyrannid fleet is [SPEAKER_00]: in the theory in all encompassing segment of their army. [SPEAKER_00]: There is no, like, for example, a tyranny fleet doesn't have, like, doesn't invade, and we're going to cover this next episode of how they do it, but they're going to invade, and the next chunk of ships come in. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the same ship. [SPEAKER_00]: She has ripping a plant to shreds. [SPEAKER_00]: And so this brings to the question of how they move through the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is actually kind of cool. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to talk about [SPEAKER_00]: I always like to give GW props when they do stuff, right? [SPEAKER_00]: GW will sometimes go on a rabbit hole of writing, and this one did a good job of. [SPEAKER_00]: The ternids don't use the warp to travel, so they have to move faster than light, and they rather than just say they can move faster than light, which is what I would have expected someone to write. [SPEAKER_00]: They actually wrote out a whole thing called a narval. [SPEAKER_00]: And then we'd like this writing is the narval, both explains how the tear nids can move to the galaxy, but also explains the limitations in their move from to the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: They do jump moves. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So the narval effectively creates a gravity well between the fleet and a target point. [SPEAKER_00]: And then that gravity well rips the ship and the fleet. [SPEAKER_01]: That'll start galactic above. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: This is exactly what a narval is. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to get them some credit for not. [SPEAKER_00]: I know it's incredibly ironic for a company as litigious, surrounding intellectual property, so you're very, very critical. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just that I'll start to enjoy in ripping off battles like a like the good dune. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying that if you know if you watch Battlestar Galactica, that's what I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a jump. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just more fun. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's exactly described if you want a better description, watch Battlestar Galactica, because they talk about how it works. [SPEAKER_01]: And it's exactly what their normal does. [SPEAKER_00]: Fair. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, so the cool thing about the nerve all that does hold it back a little bit is it can only work between two points it can't work through. [SPEAKER_00]: So the tier and it's don't have the ability if there is a if there are planets or a system between where they're on where they want to be, they have to go to that point. [SPEAKER_00]: They can't jump through it because [SPEAKER_00]: much like in Star Wars, you know, if you engage your warp drive, not warp drive. [SPEAKER_00]: If there's, you know, you engage your hyperspace drive, if there's an asteroid belt in the middle, you die. [SPEAKER_00]: That should be. [SPEAKER_00]: So the theorems can only therefore invade in straight systems. [SPEAKER_00]: The other thing that's actually important here is [SPEAKER_00]: It creates a gravity well between the two systems. [SPEAKER_00]: You can detect this. [SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to talk about that more on some later casts. [SPEAKER_00]: But you actually now, you do have some warnings that the tear nerds are coming. [SPEAKER_00]: This plants all in earthquake, solar flares, all this stuff just starts rocking through the system. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a heads up that the tear nerd fleets on. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're really going to heads up if it were not the most bureaucratically inefficient system ever. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, if you were organized, [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're like, hey, we totally know they're coming. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you have to tell forty three middle managers to get the notes sent. [SPEAKER_01]: And then they have forty three more other guys that have to stamp it so that somebody else can see that message. [SPEAKER_00]: It seems like in the latest version, now that a cough cough custos are involved in the process, they'll be a bit more operative quicker in the because they also have a real good. [SPEAKER_01]: disciplinary status of I will cut your head off if I don't get this much. [SPEAKER_00]: So this is kind of the the other piece that also does come with a tear and it's just one of I think the most powerful coolest elements is a shadow of the world. [SPEAKER_00]: It's amazing. [SPEAKER_00]: So as we said no one can explain and this is a good thing. [SPEAKER_00]: How the tear and it's interact with the work. [SPEAKER_01]: But again, let's go back to it again. [SPEAKER_01]: They have warp users, so-and-throbes. [SPEAKER_01]: They use warp powers, like devastating warp powers to destroy things. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not just a little bit of lightning. [SPEAKER_01]: They pick up tanks and... Yeah, this isn't lightning bolt. [SPEAKER_00]: This is actually, I mean, the spoiler for episode three, they removed the craft world. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They do some real shit here. [SPEAKER_01]: And the best part is the fleet by itself. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, yes, not wrong, but also not right. [SPEAKER_01]: The synaptic, any of the synaptic entities gives off what is just a nightmare around them that affects the warp. [SPEAKER_01]: It also makes you [SPEAKER_01]: We did this. [SPEAKER_01]: We talked about it. [SPEAKER_01]: We talked about blanks. [SPEAKER_01]: It has a similar effect on non-sikers, where you just, you have a sense of dread to be this overwhelming terror that [SPEAKER_01]: is everywhere about you. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's just a thing they do they just do. [SPEAKER_00]: What's terrifying about this shadow in the warp is it really does it blocks the warp completely. [SPEAKER_00]: So as you come in, astronauts cannot communicate. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is such a huge deal because when you're talking about the Imperium, which is effectively trying to light the fires of Gondor, to let everybody know and something happens, [SPEAKER_01]: You don't get to let anybody know that this happened. [SPEAKER_01]: And you don't leave any evidence behind because they consume the entire world, the entire system. [SPEAKER_00]: One thing I want to point out that I'm always reading out, I think it's important. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not, it's actually the inverse of a blank though. [SPEAKER_00]: Whereas a blank just warp doesn't exist within them. [SPEAKER_00]: What this seems to be is actually the shadow warp is just all the tear and it's often do each other. [SPEAKER_01]: It's overwhelming. [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_01]: Zillions. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I've got this. [SPEAKER_01]: I actually thought about this a long time ago with this because that's how big of a nerd I am. [SPEAKER_01]: But I think that the shadows of work is overwhelming white noise. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I agree. [SPEAKER_00]: And they talk a little bit in that point where like, psychers, all of a sudden just like they go insane because their brain just gets filled with [SPEAKER_00]: It would make sense imagine hearing you watch and walking pass an ant colony and hearing every single communication those ants in your brain at once. [SPEAKER_00]: It would just shut you down. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what they talk about. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's why like it's not a [SPEAKER_00]: a force field that prevents the astropaths from speaking through it. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just so much noise, they just can't communicate through any envelops them. [SPEAKER_00]: And so they talk about the cycles when the shadow gets nearby, they just get over on with the voices and sounds. [SPEAKER_00]: And they just feel like the things really scratching at their mind. [SPEAKER_00]: Cycros commit suicide. [SPEAKER_00]: Pretty consistently, what alternatively comes in, not because [SPEAKER_00]: Not even because they know what's happening, but because of what's going on in their brain is so horrid that makes it black just even fun. [SPEAKER_01]: I do want to, we're going to talk about this more later, but I have to touch on this because we're already talking about it. [SPEAKER_01]: This is one of the most terrifying aspects of the terenance is what the hell is controlling that, that puts out that much power that it can control [SPEAKER_01]: quadrillions of organisms, but also it's real-time communicating with every single thing in the fleet at the exact same time. [SPEAKER_01]: Holy shit. [SPEAKER_01]: That's a powerful intelligence. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's terrifying. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's a really, really good day today. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just doing shit is the most powerful thing that's ever happened ever. [SPEAKER_00]: And so what this really matters is that when a tear and fleet gets even close to a system, this kicks in. [SPEAKER_00]: That means a system is done. [SPEAKER_00]: So you have no astronauts. [SPEAKER_00]: It also means the navigators can't see in anymore. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're coming to the fleet that you're using FTL drives, you're fine. [SPEAKER_00]: You can move in this one effect your FTL. [SPEAKER_00]: But if you're trying to warp jump in, [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you can't see it. [SPEAKER_01]: The only thing the imperium is that God and good about this is once they find a threat, they look for where they can't see. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: And they go close to there. [SPEAKER_00]: And then move and then you got it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: And then FTL from the FTL from there. [SPEAKER_00]: But this is, yes, there's no entrepreneurs, there's no messages. [SPEAKER_00]: So this is what we've read and we're discussing earlier about, we don't know when adherents first gone here. [SPEAKER_00]: This is why, because they're just a period of error, which go dark, you have no communication to it. [SPEAKER_00]: Meanwhile, Abonans and he's like, oh, like, seventh crusade. [SPEAKER_00]: And so you're just there like, you know what? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't care. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't care. [SPEAKER_00]: Or send some road traders over there. [SPEAKER_00]: See what's going on, but I don't care. [SPEAKER_00]: You don't realize it was actually the greatest start of the galaxies, just eating your planets. [SPEAKER_00]: So with all that, let's have some real fun and talk about why are they here. [SPEAKER_00]: This is the part I've been folding Brad back. [SPEAKER_00]: It's whole episode. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know how much of this is going to be edited. [SPEAKER_01]: Leave this. [SPEAKER_00]: No, we're doing this because we've I've tried to talk about this three times so far and I've cut bread off everything every single time he said no. [SPEAKER_00]: We're getting there. [SPEAKER_00]: So here's what we know. [SPEAKER_00]: We know the tear and it's come from outside of the galaxy. [SPEAKER_00]: We know that these that they're heading towards terror. [SPEAKER_01]: We have, but they're not making it again, but they're not be lining towards here. [SPEAKER_01]: If they were just that was our end goal. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's it. [SPEAKER_01]: They would make a straight line. [SPEAKER_00]: They are not making a straight line. [SPEAKER_00]: So I think there are kind of two things that look at here. [SPEAKER_00]: Are they coming here to search for something? [SPEAKER_00]: Are they just here randomly to eat? [SPEAKER_00]: Or the really fun one, are they running away? [SPEAKER_00]: Are they running away? [SPEAKER_01]: What are they running away from? [SPEAKER_00]: Are we a stop on the way out because something else is coming? [SPEAKER_00]: So could we don't know, have they been to other galaxies? [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know what had they done. [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to drive into kind of where I think are the four best fan theories that exists. [SPEAKER_00]: Starting off with probably the, what is likely the most accurate, but just the one that's the least fun, which is the most important. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a look as to him. [SPEAKER_00]: They just, they are a borderline mindless race. [SPEAKER_01]: I refuse to believe this one though, because to control the power of intelligence that it takes to run all of this. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I totally agree. [SPEAKER_01]: It is just, I refuse to believe that you're just derping through the galaxy when you have this overwhelming intelligence. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this theory is just to kind of hash up where the theories of the theorems are actually not intellectual evolved race. [SPEAKER_00]: They're just there instinctive race and all the changes they make where they create new life forms and all this stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: It's just a means of survival. [SPEAKER_00]: They're purely survival. [SPEAKER_00]: They're just a biopurpose. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, at this point in time, they're a wildly powerful AI that sucks. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's really. [SPEAKER_00]: And I hate that. [SPEAKER_00]: everyone does, but the way that I look at this is like the tyrannids biggest problem is that they can't farm. [SPEAKER_00]: So all of their energy, all of their energy comes from consumers, I mean, moving on to the next one. [SPEAKER_00]: They've never, they never mastered irrigation. [SPEAKER_01]: Sure, but it's still just, it makes sense and it from a basic standpoint. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It makes sense because they became the perfect beings to continue to consume and you. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is what a local swarm does. [SPEAKER_00]: A local swarm will just eat and eat until it gets until it doesn't have enough food source in which it just dies. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's what tyranny, this is the theory of series. [SPEAKER_00]: And when I say this, the fan theory, this is kind of the closest thing to a GW's written. [SPEAKER_00]: So... Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: They all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all, they all [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, this one, there's the hive mind has a plan. [SPEAKER_00]: This is why they're trying to find new worlds. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they're trying to find peace for themselves in the galaxy, but basically it's another, it makes sense. [SPEAKER_01]: This theory, this isn't my favorite theory by far, but this theory makes sense that they're coming here because also things like the I have terror would make a great amount of sense. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because the I have terror [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the risk now is that it came in during the eye of terror is effectively an endless source of power. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you're looking for something to run your race, this makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: The one I like about this would be that the tyrannid hive mind doesn't know what the warp is, but is touching the warp, and it's looking for a way to get to eat the warp effectively. [SPEAKER_00]: And that would to me makes it sort of like, which is a non-economic kind of an eye of terror would be [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it'd be infinite if they were looking for just something to drain you the warp is forever and this would give them the ultimate power up right we could just keep drawing power from this forever because instead of consuming worlds you'd be consuming the warp which is forever [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And this feeds really well into the next one, because it would be the same purpose that they're actually not coming to consume the galaxy. [SPEAKER_01]: They're never good guys. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But they're coming because they're being chased by something else. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're coming to a we are a stopping point. [SPEAKER_00]: And so it's that same thing of like the astronomical, I have terror, whatever it is, are a [SPEAKER_00]: way to power up to either fight back or to get themselves to a job. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is so terrifying now because yeah, what the hell are they fleeing from? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, God. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, Jesus. [SPEAKER_00]: There's not, there's not an, I mean, if this, if what tyrannids can do in the power and the size they are, or afraid of something, can't bend his back. [SPEAKER_00]: Those are not fleeing. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel very confident in this statement. [SPEAKER_00]: The towel. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, that would be the greatest rewrite of all time, that the tower actually, like a splinter of the most powerful race that exists, like a drama. [SPEAKER_00]: And that story has been, it's chasing to eliminate the tear and it's just our civilization. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's run with that. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what it is. [SPEAKER_00]: The tower in the Milky Way. [SPEAKER_01]: the are the race from the expanse also watch the watch the show read the books the books are even better oh yeah sorry that was a fun one but then get there that race you know and it's just and it's sent in everything that's what that's what's really going on but let's go to the real one the one that everyone so this is the one that we talk about with the real one [SPEAKER_00]: GW hasn't written this yet. [SPEAKER_01]: This is the oldest fan fiction there is though. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it is the greatest. [SPEAKER_00]: This showed up from like the beginning of the game because people look of people are clever and we are all the fun thing about GW is it it's all made up so they can do whatever they want and the hope is in an element of like Peter Pan here if enough of us believe this next area just have maybe they'll make it real. [SPEAKER_00]: So this is that the tyrannids are the old ones. [SPEAKER_01]: And also, they're the remnants. [SPEAKER_01]: They're the brain injured. [SPEAKER_01]: I was in an accident, old ones because the old ones had to flee. [SPEAKER_00]: They were getting killed by the enslaved slaves. [SPEAKER_00]: The enslaved slaves came out of the war and targeted them. [SPEAKER_00]: And the idea is that the idea of this one, and it actually [SPEAKER_00]: As Brett said, because this is so old, it's been written very, very well. [SPEAKER_00]: And the concept to kind of catch everyone up is that the enslavers hunt psychic beings. [SPEAKER_00]: So in order to protect themselves from the enslavers, the old ones would have severed their connection to the world. [SPEAKER_00]: And fled and fled. [SPEAKER_01]: They effectively made the biggest jump to somewhere else. [SPEAKER_01]: And it could be, we don't know where we're going, but it can't be here. [SPEAKER_00]: And the result of all this, they would have had to then figure out a new way to communicate and doesn't use the work. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe like a centralized intelligence. [SPEAKER_01]: And also this means that is the hive mine multiple old ones. [SPEAKER_01]: Is that why the high fleets are so different. [SPEAKER_01]: I love this. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go through what the old ones could do. [SPEAKER_00]: Could they create life? [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: Could they communicate kind of both in and outside there, but they put in outside the work. [SPEAKER_00]: They made the original webcraft web way. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: All this seems to line up. [SPEAKER_00]: And so the question then becomes are the tyrannids a devolved version of the old ones, or are the tyrannids, maybe as late three or four old ones left who've now merged into the hive mind. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is their prodigy. [SPEAKER_01]: Or again, or the hive mind is [SPEAKER_01]: in our connected old ones and that's why they're different because each of the old ones has different hopes, dreams, and whatever, or cognitive abilities left. [SPEAKER_01]: Remember, the old ones were also next level consciousness. [SPEAKER_01]: They were, they were literally creating life by, dude, dude, dude, that I have a computer. [SPEAKER_00]: Now I'm just gonna do some calculation to do sound and we're gonna say something. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm gonna do calculations in my head to make life. [SPEAKER_01]: They were powerful sentience. [SPEAKER_00]: And in this theory, the tyrannids are coming back to the galaxy, much of the same with the Necrons, but set up the reawakiness. [SPEAKER_00]: They had a timing and now they're going to come back to the galaxy to consume it, you know, in order to re-conquer it. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, a lot of the above, because you can go, are they spiteful? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I would be. [SPEAKER_00]: You could just be actually my theory on this one, is that they lost a lot of their intelligence that would happen was you spend millions of years out there in the darkness. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they did create, two units are the ultimate adaptive race. [SPEAKER_01]: They just, they will make things work better. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's why this lines up so well, because you think about what they made. [SPEAKER_00]: Look at the races that they created. [SPEAKER_00]: We have, it wasn't humanity. [SPEAKER_00]: They had the Joe Caro who are just instinctively able to create a weapon or whatever they want. [SPEAKER_00]: You have the L-D-R who they didn't actually create the upper lift to them, but they gave us the ability. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they didn't create, but they did. [SPEAKER_00]: But that that's one of the orcs. [SPEAKER_00]: And if you look at how the orcs function, how adherence function is pretty. [SPEAKER_00]: It's very similar. [SPEAKER_00]: Very similar. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, sorry, or some orcs are one of my favorites, but adherence are just [SPEAKER_00]: Upgraded orcs. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, because they were as orcs, they'll have to fight. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a hierarchy in the interfight. [SPEAKER_00]: One key thing on Terrence. [SPEAKER_00]: Terrence on interfight. [SPEAKER_00]: We have no record in any in annual code accident. [SPEAKER_00]: Any story of tyrannies attacking other tyrannists. [SPEAKER_00]: So they seem to be fully unified in this. [SPEAKER_00]: But in my mind, it would make sense that the old ones are more. [SPEAKER_01]: I think there's more old ones because the ternons don't interfight, but the ternons also don't help each other. [SPEAKER_00]: There, there is true. [SPEAKER_00]: But I also could just be a self preservation, but they could say, all right. [SPEAKER_01]: And as I say, the high fleets are all separate entities. [SPEAKER_00]: They are, but when they, but they do touch and they never attack. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, true. [SPEAKER_00]: That, and that's why we could do it. [SPEAKER_00]: Just, that's where, but this is one bread and I actually have this, the big outside of this. [SPEAKER_00]: This is a really great rabbit hole that jumped down by the way, and I encourage all of you to do it because it actually is quite fun. [SPEAKER_01]: If you love to have this sort of discord, everyone, please empty listen to this, start a thread. [SPEAKER_00]: I said the threads, but if people ask me for it, I'll create the thread. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I don't even know what a thread means. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was just like a standard discussion. [SPEAKER_01]: But also, this is how much I know about channel actually. [SPEAKER_00]: Also, I can start a tier. [SPEAKER_00]: What are the tier and it's channel when we can have some fun. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh. [SPEAKER_01]: John's gonna do this because I'm gonna harp on him until he does do it now. [SPEAKER_01]: Also, I'm gonna do this so much and he's gonna keep telling me that the episode's not even out yet, please shut up and it's gonna be awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so with that though, that's actually kind of where we went to end this episode just to kind of give you guys a background of the tyrannids. [SPEAKER_00]: Our next episode, we're gonna talk about the makeup of tyrannid fleets, their armies, how they interact and that more play how they invade a planet. [SPEAKER_00]: And this is that because there's two key ways they do it. [SPEAKER_00]: Do you stealers and other? [SPEAKER_00]: which is actually, ooh, I don't know what's the one. [SPEAKER_00]: The good news for your players are way worse. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but the good news is that when Jesus invade your planet, you get to keep living on it for a while. [SPEAKER_00]: Part two. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Part two, the sky starts literally the entire world. [SPEAKER_01]: I would rather at least try to fight as opposed to having everyone I know is actually a James Taylor. [SPEAKER_00]: That's a good point. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Right about the time I'm dying to go, oh man. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then we'll also talk about what the infirium or forces can actually do about a tiered invasion. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not involved fire and all of the fire. [SPEAKER_00]: But with that, please once again, like and subscribe to the cast and join the discord. [SPEAKER_00]: As you can see, this one's probably gonna lead to a discord discussion, because we're gonna be quite a bit of fan theory kicking through here. [SPEAKER_00]: It is the best place to ask us questions and provide us feedback. [SPEAKER_00]: Again, we are active in it. [SPEAKER_00]: If there's anything we said in here, you thought was wrong, or we forgot, you can tell us there. [SPEAKER_00]: You'll get a pretty quick reaction to it. [SPEAKER_00]: But with that, this has been John Barsani and Brad Jester. [SPEAKER_00]: This guy. [SPEAKER_00]: See you guys next week. [UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
